- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm beginning to think Scratchers isn't a great retirement plan.
- 0:03Speaker 1: It's one more thing.
- 0:06Speaker 2: I'm strong and getty one more so. A couple of things.
- 0:16Speaker 2: We've been talking about. Elon Musk bringing back up the
- 0:18Speaker 2: idea of him and Zuckerberg fighting with the interesting wrinkle
- 0:23Speaker 2: of any place, anytime, any rules, which is an added
- 0:28Speaker 2: element to the thing. Hmmm. I don't know if I
- 0:30Speaker 2: would ever make that offer. Here's our rule, no winner
- 0:34Speaker 2: declared until somebody loses at least one eye. You want,
- 0:37Speaker 2: you want to you wanna want to get in that.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Fight, and I are a limb, i'd say, I mean.
- 0:45Speaker 2: Elon's a troll. Oh yes, yeah, he's a troll. And
- 0:50Speaker 2: sometimes he trolls at like the highest levels with like,
- 0:53Speaker 2: you know, the most valuable car company in the world.
- 0:56Speaker 2: He makes some sort of claim about Stock at four
- 0:58Speaker 2: twenty or something, and he's a poopster, no doubt, and
- 1:02Speaker 2: he gets sued by the government and everything just because
- 1:05Speaker 2: he's such troll. So tatroll at this level is nothing
- 1:08Speaker 2: compared to some of the stock trolls he's done in
- 1:11Speaker 2: the past. Anyway, my kids are out of school like
- 1:16Speaker 2: your kids, because it's summertime, and they play too many
- 1:19Speaker 2: video games, not as much as this guy.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Nigerian man played the mobile game Dream League Soccer twenty
- 1:25Speaker 3: twenty three for seventy five consecutive hours, breaking a Guinness
- 1:29Speaker 3: World record, that record most disappointed parents.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I was talking to a mom the other day, actually
- 1:39Speaker 2: was asking her just because she seems to have been
- 1:42Speaker 2: fairly successful. And her take was based on her kids
- 1:46Speaker 2: and other kids, is if your kids into not all
- 1:49Speaker 2: kids are into video games, like my oldest is not.
- 1:52Speaker 2: He just doesn't dig it. He's tried a lot of
- 1:54Speaker 2: them and played him some, but just not his thing
- 1:56Speaker 2: where his brother really loves it. And this mom's said
- 2:00Speaker 2: to me, if your kid is into video games, there's
- 2:02Speaker 2: just not that much you can do about it. I mean,
- 2:04Speaker 2: you can set limits, obviously it's your house, but that's
- 2:07Speaker 2: their thing. They're gonna do it as much as they
- 2:10Speaker 2: can as you allow them to do. And that has
- 2:12Speaker 2: certainly been my experience, you know. And and the limits
- 2:18Speaker 2: are harder. The limits are easy to set, but you
- 2:23Speaker 2: run into the they don't have any other interests. That's
- 2:26Speaker 2: the only thing they talk about. It's their favorite thing
- 2:28Speaker 2: in the world. I did lots of some of the
- 2:34Speaker 2: things I did in the summer outside of exercising. Obviously,
- 2:36Speaker 2: exercising is better, but some of the things I did
- 2:38Speaker 2: in the summer, I don't know if they're that much
- 2:40Speaker 2: more productive. I don't know. I don't have the video
- 2:45Speaker 2: game gene. I don't dig video games either.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Having recently spent a fair amount of time in the
- 2:51Speaker 1: company of several twenty something young men and knowing a
- 2:54Speaker 1: couple of others, they all say, so, what do you
- 2:57Speaker 1: do for fun? What do you like to do? Video
- 2:59Speaker 1: gaming is prominence in.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Their list right, And like one of the things my
- 3:03Speaker 2: youngest does is he has some relationships with some of
- 3:07Speaker 2: his friends. They play video games together and I hear
- 3:09Speaker 2: him laughing and joking the whole time, and that sounds
- 3:12Speaker 2: really good, especially for my son, who has not had
- 3:16Speaker 2: the easiest goal of it. Socially, he's doing more laughing
- 3:19Speaker 2: and joking and talking about They talk about all kinds
- 3:21Speaker 2: of other things while they're playing video games.
- 3:23Speaker 4: That was the big transition for video games. I used
- 3:26Speaker 4: to play video games all the time, but they were
- 3:28Speaker 4: online yet, uh huh, so you know, the old school games.
- 3:31Speaker 4: And then when they got online, I noticed I was
- 3:34Speaker 4: playing for an extended period of time, because, like you said,
- 3:38Speaker 4: you're talking to people and all that, so you kind
- 3:40Speaker 4: of lose track.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Yeah, and I hear him doing it, and it makes
- 3:46Speaker 2: my heart happy that he's got, you know, friends that
- 3:48Speaker 2: he's having that kind of fun with. So I don't know,
- 3:51Speaker 2: I who knows. They'll tell me in twenty years. It's
- 3:53Speaker 2: a horrible idea. I heard something. He's not outbreaking the law. Yeah,
- 3:57Speaker 2: that's a low bar, Katy.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I gave myself a pretty serious case of tendonitis ones
- 4:02Speaker 1: playing we bowling.
- 4:03Speaker 5: Oh, oh that's a good one.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Really snap it off, get some nice dig on the ball. Yeah,
- 4:08Speaker 1: I just don't forget it.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Oh.
- 4:09Speaker 2: The one that Henry's into now is the speaking of Zuckerberg,
- 4:14Speaker 2: the his his VR thing, the Oculus and this new
- 4:19Speaker 2: boxing thing that Henry's got, And man, he's been doing
- 4:21Speaker 2: that constantly. He's sore, sore. Yesterday he could hardly do
- 4:24Speaker 2: anything because all his muscles were so sore from doing
- 4:27Speaker 2: the VR boxing game all afternoon the day before.
- 4:30Speaker 5: That's it would work out.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Oh, he is poor and sweat.
- 4:33Speaker 4: There are full blown workout routines built into the Oculus
- 4:37Speaker 4: that you can download. It actually has a whole fitness
- 4:40Speaker 4: element to it.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah, if he can get exercise and do that, that's
- 4:45Speaker 2: that's that's awesome. Yeah, oh agreed.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I'm just I'm close to getting one of those virtual
- 4:51Speaker 1: reality thingies because I know there are games that I
- 4:53Speaker 1: would enjoy playing.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Which which one? Which which? I don't know?
- 4:56Speaker 1: I really don't know. I just I read the reviews
- 4:59Speaker 1: and they're all roughly the same. This is pretty good,
- 5:03Speaker 1: but surely they'll be able to improve this, that and
- 5:07Speaker 1: the other. I think.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it's about a generational one, and the Apple one
- 5:10Speaker 2: is very very good, but it's so expensive. Have you
- 5:13Speaker 2: done the demo of that yet?
- 5:14Speaker 1: I recommend I'm fabulously wealthy, so that doesn't stand in
- 5:17Speaker 1: my way.
- 5:18Speaker 2: I recommend everybody do the demo at least of the
- 5:21Speaker 2: things so you know what the capabilities are. It's freaking amazing.
- 5:27Speaker 2: It's amazing.
- 5:28Speaker 4: I mentioned this on the radio show. But you guys,
- 5:30Speaker 4: I'm telling you that game bar Fight, that sounds fun. Actually,
- 5:36Speaker 4: I correct myself, it's called drunken bar Fight. Either way,
- 5:39Speaker 4: I mean it is, so it's so much fun and
- 5:42Speaker 4: it's hilarious.
- 5:45Speaker 2: They don't doubt it.
- 5:46Speaker 4: You can get drunk and go on an airplane and
- 5:47Speaker 4: just start going nuts.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I mean, what a hilarious premise.
- 5:53Speaker 1: Oh, there's probably something to do with the decline of
- 5:59Speaker 1: civilization in there, but that does sound really funny.
- 6:03Speaker 5: Yeah, so you fight not just at the bar, but
- 6:06Speaker 5: you can actually go to other places.
- 6:07Speaker 4: Yeah, you can go any you can go anywhere that
- 6:10Speaker 4: serves alcohol.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Have you ever been really drunk, Michael, It's just kind
- 6:12Speaker 2: of a rolling thing throughout your day. You're you're riding
- 6:16Speaker 2: in the back of a car, then you're at a bar,
- 6:18Speaker 2: then you find yourself in a swimming pool. The next
- 6:20Speaker 2: thing you know, here's somewhere else. See you're on an
- 6:22Speaker 2: airplane slapping a storess.
- 6:25Speaker 5: Let's picture picking up a bottle and hitting somebody over
- 6:27Speaker 5: the head with it, you know, at the bar.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Yeah, that's part of it.
- 6:30Speaker 4: If you if you get drunk on the plane, you
- 6:31Speaker 4: can start pulling the luggage out of the overhead content
- 6:33Speaker 4: you bend.
- 6:36Speaker 2: That's not good, that's not good. That's hilarious.
- 6:40Speaker 1: I remember when we used to aspire to to high goals.
- 6:44Speaker 2: This is a monopoly, so that was a game.
- 6:48Speaker 1: Oh goodness sakes, all right, So here's this guy walks
- 6:51Speaker 1: into murphreys Boro, Tennessee convenience store and buys two twenty
- 7:00Speaker 1: diamond and gold lottery tickets from the twenty three year
- 7:03Speaker 1: old clerk. And some lottery players do this. You don't
- 7:08Speaker 1: have to scratch off all the you know, the pots
- 7:12Speaker 1: of gold or sham rocks or whatever.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Now, I hate the process of scratching those things. I'd
- 7:17Speaker 2: probably do more scratchers if I didn't hate the scratching
- 7:19Speaker 2: bar so much. Well, right, you don't have to.
- 7:22Speaker 1: The clerk just has to scratch off the bar code
- 7:26Speaker 1: cover at the bottom left or whatever and then read
- 7:28Speaker 1: the bar code.
- 7:29Speaker 2: I don't like the little the goo or whatever, the
- 7:32Speaker 2: leavings of the scratching off they get in my car
- 7:34Speaker 2: or on my pants. I don't know.
- 7:35Speaker 1: You probably causes cancer or something like that. They'll figure
- 7:40Speaker 1: out that that scratcher crap is what's causing so many
- 7:42Speaker 1: of humanity's ills, right dimension Parkinson's cancer. Whatever. Anyway, So
- 7:49Speaker 1: this guy buys two twenty dollars scratchers, and to save time,
- 7:53Speaker 1: he says, yeah, just scratch it and read the bar
- 7:55Speaker 1: codes for me, and the clerk says, yeah, yeah, this
- 7:59Speaker 1: one's a loser, and this one says.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Sorry, Jimmy. Then obvious problem with that plan right there.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Yeah, well, except one of them was a million dollar winner.
- 8:19Speaker 2: He couldn't slip a different one in. The guy who
- 8:22Speaker 2: worked there, here's here's yours. As you see, you lost,
- 8:26Speaker 2: this is mine.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Well, the guy doesn't have the bar code reader the customer.
- 8:29Speaker 1: He's trusting the clerk to tell him what the bar
- 8:31Speaker 1: code says.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Right, that's what I mean the clerk. I wondered, if
- 8:36Speaker 2: he wasn't able to slip out, slip one out for
- 8:38Speaker 2: the other one.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Why bother because you know, he said they're both losers. Jim, sorry, buddy, good.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Life probably shuck him. I assumed the end of this
- 8:47Speaker 2: story was he didn't get away with it. I was
- 8:49Speaker 2: thinking of a way to get away with it.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, all right, well, master criminal Jack there uh
- 8:54Speaker 1: he threw it on top of the trash as the
- 8:55Speaker 1: gentleman look. He laughed. He took the trash out. On camera,
- 8:58Speaker 1: you can see him grab the ticket and put it
- 9:00Speaker 1: in his pocket. Not long after, he decided to try
- 9:04Speaker 1: and claim the cash prize. Went to the lottery Commission
- 9:06Speaker 1: to claim the ticket as his own, but there were
- 9:09Speaker 1: red flags and they held onto the ticket.
- 9:12Speaker 2: How did you get caught.
- 9:14Speaker 1: What Patel didn't know that's the perpetrator is that lottery
- 9:18Speaker 1: officials vet all big winners, and that includes checking security
- 9:22Speaker 1: video of the tickets purchased in evidence, just to make
- 9:26Speaker 1: sure everything was on the up and up and shows
- 9:29Speaker 1: the ticket was clearly stolen.
- 9:30Speaker 2: I'm surprised it's not a rule that people who work
- 9:32Speaker 2: at a store can't play just to avoid any problems.
- 9:40Speaker 1: I don't know. I think probably the security video check
- 9:42Speaker 1: is insurance enough.
- 9:44Speaker 2: But outside of the clerk screw and you know what
- 9:47Speaker 2: would be the other things you need the video for,
- 9:50Speaker 2: like to show that you're the one who bought it
- 9:52Speaker 2: so you didn't take it from somebody, or yeah, sure, yeah,
- 9:57Speaker 2: and there's there.
- 9:58Speaker 4: There was actually a story last week about a woman
- 10:00Speaker 4: who bought a ticket with her son or something, but
- 10:04Speaker 4: her son, I guess, stayed in the car and now
- 10:06Speaker 4: they're in like a big money dispute and she's like,
- 10:08Speaker 4: I'm the one that bought the ticket, and they went
- 10:10Speaker 4: back and viewed the camera.
- 10:11Speaker 2: And so that's how they squashed the whole thing. You know, hey,
- 10:14Speaker 2: how about you get a job son, right. One of
- 10:17Speaker 2: the reasons I'm anti playing the lottery is, uh, well,
- 10:20Speaker 2: there's a couple of reasons. One, whenever I'm at the
- 10:22Speaker 2: convenience store, you know, the people that are playing the scratchers,
- 10:26Speaker 2: the people that are scratching it off on the herd
- 10:27Speaker 2: of their beat up car, don't look like their lives
- 10:29Speaker 2: are going very well. I mean they just But I know,
- 10:33Speaker 2: for me personally, when the only period of my life
- 10:36Speaker 2: where I ever bought lottery tickets and was thinking about
- 10:39Speaker 2: the lottery is when I was not doing well. I mean,
- 10:41Speaker 2: I was in a bad spot with my finances and
- 10:44Speaker 2: my career hopes and everything like that, and wasting any
- 10:48Speaker 2: energy on dreaming about the lottery was as unproductive as
- 10:52Speaker 2: anything could freaking be. And it's it is horrifies me
- 10:56Speaker 2: that I spent any time thinking about that as opposed
- 10:58Speaker 2: to only working on a plan to get out of
- 11:00Speaker 2: my situation of my own making. And I just wonder
- 11:03Speaker 2: how many people do that?
- 11:06Speaker 1: Hmmm. The yeah, I saw lottery tickets is an opportunity
- 11:11Speaker 1: to get out of my career of checking park car's
- 11:14Speaker 1: handles to see if they're a lot.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I have, but I have dreamed of the idea, if
- 11:19Speaker 2: you get the really really big winning ticket, what it
- 11:21Speaker 2: would be like to have in your hand, like a
- 11:24Speaker 2: billion dollar bill. You've got in your hand a billion
- 11:26Speaker 2: dollar bill. I would just be so paranode, like the
- 11:27Speaker 2: wind is gonna come up all of a sudden, my
- 11:29Speaker 2: dog is gonna run in and eat it, or just
- 11:31Speaker 2: I would get into freaky paranoid mode. Get everybody, back off.
- 11:34Speaker 2: What are you talking about? Dad? Back off, Get away
- 11:38Speaker 2: from me. I'm backing towards the door. I don't I
- 11:41Speaker 2: gotta hold it tight, but not too tight. I might
- 11:43Speaker 2: tear it. Not that tight, not that loose right tonight?
- 11:46Speaker 2: Am I gonna get in my car and risk somebody
- 11:48Speaker 2: running into me? My car burst into flames and it's gone.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I mean, no, what what are you doing it? Have
- 11:52Speaker 2: you seen those that like my precious engine and crawl
- 11:56Speaker 2: on my hands and knees to a lottery place to
- 11:58Speaker 2: turn it in? Well, we had a suitcase.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Have you guys seen the uh the prank scratchers that
- 12:04Speaker 4: people give out where they're like twenty five thousand dollars
- 12:08Speaker 4: winning tickets and they're they're not they're not real.
- 12:11Speaker 2: No, that's so cruel. Oh my gosh. No, the videos
- 12:16Speaker 2: see Jack taking advantage of people. Can't do math for
- 12:19Speaker 2: your enjoyment. Oh, it's just awful.
- 12:21Speaker 4: These videos have gone around where you know a sun
- 12:23Speaker 4: will give you know, Grandma scratcher, that's just one five
- 12:28Speaker 4: thousand dollars.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Now you've changed your mind, have you, mister Kruel Captain Cruel.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm on the side of not pranking Grandma. Well,
- 12:37Speaker 2: Grandma is one of those losers you're describing. She likes
- 12:40Speaker 2: to do this scratch is now and again. But you
- 12:43Speaker 2: told her she was stupid. Wow, flip flopping.
- 12:47Speaker 1: Yeah, horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible.
- 12:52Speaker 2: It's horrible. Your buddy Jim, you drink beer with and
- 12:55Speaker 2: you do that with. I'll give you that's one thing.
- 12:57Speaker 2: But Grandma, come on, pick aside, Jack.
- 13:01Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe Grandma needs a kick in the ass, get
- 13:03Speaker 1: her life together. Huh yeah, Actually might be a mean
- 13:06Speaker 1: old lady.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Change your decisions, right, flip flopper.
- 13:13Speaker 5: You know, if I want a billion dollars, i'd purchase
- 13:15Speaker 5: some weekend programming and just play PSA's back to back.
- 13:20Speaker 2: It's a dream, it's a dream.
- 13:21Speaker 5: Well, I guess that's it.
