- 0:05Speaker 1: And when I woke up this morning, I was feeling
- 0:06Speaker 1: pretty dangerousness tonight. They are what we thought they were
- 0:13Speaker 1: wet about. Hello, you plenty to win the gate. They
- 0:17Speaker 1: want you to cook the dinner. At least they ought
- 0:19Speaker 1: to let your shop for some of the grocers. And
- 0:21Speaker 1: on the way up, we're gonna buy a kneecap off playoffs.
- 0:24Speaker 1: You're kidding me. I'm just here so I won't get fine.
- 0:27Speaker 1: How could he not be romantic about football? Oh? I
- 0:31Speaker 1: feel like I was playing that in my head last night?
- 0:34Speaker 1: How could you footballman? When Aaron Rodgers was seemingly walking
- 0:39Speaker 1: out of lambo for the last time. Welcome to bench
- 0:43Speaker 1: with Banetta, baby, guys, what a freaking week. Um. We
- 0:50Speaker 1: canceled our podcast last Thursday out of respect for Tomorrow
- 0:54Speaker 1: Hamlin and his recovery. We have got some. We've had
- 0:57Speaker 1: good news all week, all weekend, from Friday to now. Um,
- 1:03Speaker 1: Tomorrow is discharged from the hospital. We find out as
- 1:08Speaker 1: we are recording this podcast. I get to tell Kyle
- 1:10Speaker 1: Brandt to his face. We celebrate. UM. So let's get
- 1:14Speaker 1: to the interview A. S. A. P. We recap the
- 1:17Speaker 1: week that has been crazy in the NFL and talk
- 1:20Speaker 1: about black Monday. So with that further Ado, KB, what up? Okay,
- 1:24Speaker 1: welcome to the show. Another beautiful Monday Tuesday, wherever and
- 1:29Speaker 1: whenever you're listening to this show. Kbe Wolf is all
- 1:33Speaker 1: I have to say. What a week that we've all
- 1:36Speaker 1: just experienced in the football community. UM, I was watching
- 1:40Speaker 1: you guys all last week. You did a phenomenal, phenomenal
- 1:44Speaker 1: job this entire network did. To be honest, I was
- 1:46Speaker 1: like sitting there on my couch. I'm never a part
- 1:49Speaker 1: of like newsy things. You know. I bring the laughs,
- 1:52Speaker 1: I bring the gags and the giggles. UM, I was
- 1:55Speaker 1: so impressed with our network. We are giving NFL network
- 1:59Speaker 1: their flowers to We're giving you your flowers and g MFB.
- 2:02Speaker 1: You guys did a great job covering the Bills into
- 2:04Speaker 1: Marrow Hammon last week. I just wanted to ask you,
- 2:06Speaker 1: you know, take us through the process of dealing with this.
- 2:10Speaker 1: You are so close to the Bills community. You called
- 2:13Speaker 1: out their draft pick this year. You go up there
- 2:16Speaker 1: plenty of times. I saw you wearing the Bills gear
- 2:19Speaker 1: all last week Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Friday. Rather,
- 2:22Speaker 1: so just walk me through you know what were the emotions.
- 2:24Speaker 1: How what was your experience? Like, WHOA, we're recording this
- 2:28Speaker 1: Rachel on Monday, so it's really the one week anniversary
- 2:32Speaker 1: of that terrible night in Cincinnati, and listen, I went
- 2:36Speaker 1: through what everybody went through in some sense that I remember. Um,
- 2:40Speaker 1: I went to bed on about midnight on Monday night
- 2:43Speaker 1: and it was like in the middle of the Vent
- 2:45Speaker 1: Peltz Show, and people rememberance as one of these infamous
- 2:48Speaker 1: nights and sports and I went a bit at midnight
- 2:50Speaker 1: and I have to wake up at five, but like
- 2:51Speaker 1: every forty five minutes, I woke up and I would
- 2:53Speaker 1: check my phone because I was you know, how many
- 2:56Speaker 1: times can you say this as a sports fan, like
- 2:57Speaker 1: I was scared. I wasn't nervous. I was legitimately scared
- 3:02Speaker 1: that I was gonna look at my phone and there's
- 3:03Speaker 1: gonna be some tweet from some NFL insider that says
- 3:06Speaker 1: terrible news. Unfortunately, Dadada has passed has passed away that
- 3:09Speaker 1: I can just say, we thought that we were gonna
- 3:11Speaker 1: lose them. And then I wake up in the morning
- 3:13Speaker 1: on Tuesday, I'm scared. I walk into the Good Morning
- 3:15Speaker 1: Football set and our plan is just like it was
- 3:18Speaker 1: the strangest showever we've done shows or something. There's never
- 3:22Speaker 1: been a weirder one than that, because there really was
- 3:23Speaker 1: no plan. It was just sit down and be prepared
- 3:26Speaker 1: to talk about anything and hope for the best, but
- 3:29Speaker 1: genuinely be prepared for the worst because we could be
- 3:32Speaker 1: in the eight D segments and we get news that
- 3:35Speaker 1: we there's been a terrible piece of news from Cincinnati,
- 3:38Speaker 1: and you guys just react to it on live TV.
- 3:40Speaker 1: So holy crap. First of all, thank god it did
- 3:42Speaker 1: not come, and it hasn't come, and from the sounds
- 3:44Speaker 1: of it, it it never will come. But you just sit
- 3:46Speaker 1: around and talk, and you talk through it pitt in
- 3:48Speaker 1: your stomach, and you try to make it fresh and
- 3:52Speaker 1: try to make it relatable because you have your own
- 3:54Speaker 1: job to do. But at the same time, I was
- 3:55Speaker 1: just so scared the whole time, and I had to
- 3:57Speaker 1: to your point. You know, I know a lot of
- 4:00Speaker 1: well not only who live in Buffalo, but her with
- 4:01Speaker 1: the bills, And you know, I'm not texting them being
- 4:04Speaker 1: like give me the inside scoop at all. They're just
- 4:07Speaker 1: texting me because they see me on TV and they're like,
- 4:09Speaker 1: we're really nervous and we're really scared. Um. It was
- 4:11Speaker 1: a tough time. But I'll end my answer with really
- 4:15Speaker 1: the end of this phase of the story. I got
- 4:17Speaker 1: texts and tweets from people after Nihim Hines returned the
- 4:20Speaker 1: opening kick, and They're like, I've been coming to games
- 4:23Speaker 1: in this stadium for thirty seven years. It's the loudest
- 4:27Speaker 1: I've ever heard it. And he hadn't even crossed the
- 4:29Speaker 1: twenty yard line yet going in, and people are like
- 4:33Speaker 1: crying and hugging and jumping up and down, and it
- 4:36Speaker 1: was the most joyous moment because, you know, Josh said
- 4:38Speaker 1: it after the game, depending on how you feel philosophically,
- 4:42Speaker 1: like some people thought that was like a divine intervention
- 4:46Speaker 1: and that that was like God's plan and that type
- 4:48Speaker 1: of beautiful thing. And so people were really emotional about it,
- 4:51Speaker 1: and I have say, it's even a week later, I
- 4:53Speaker 1: am too, It's so crazy. I mean, the first time
- 4:55Speaker 1: that I was on TV last week, I mean a
- 4:57Speaker 1: bunch of things got canceled during the week out of
- 4:59Speaker 1: respect or Damar's recovery. This podcast got canceled on Thursday.
- 5:03Speaker 1: None of us were able to really, I wasn't in
- 5:05Speaker 1: this building until the following Friday, and still a few
- 5:08Speaker 1: days removed, this building was still pretty quiet, even though
- 5:12Speaker 1: by then by Friday we had gotten the news that
- 5:14Speaker 1: he was awake. Um, maybe there was. I think at
- 5:17Speaker 1: that point he had faced timed into his uh into
- 5:20Speaker 1: the locker room, said love you boys, and all of
- 5:22Speaker 1: these incredible things have come out. I think everyone was
- 5:24Speaker 1: just so shook up the entire week that it was
- 5:28Speaker 1: like that almost happened. That was absolutely terrifying. I mean,
- 5:32Speaker 1: do you remember, I mean we've both been covering sports
- 5:35Speaker 1: for a really long time. Do you remember a point
- 5:38Speaker 1: in your career that anything besides like Kobe passing, that
- 5:43Speaker 1: there was a week like this that people came together
- 5:46Speaker 1: in the way that they did. I think it was
- 5:48Speaker 1: I think it was Damar actually that tweeted out sometime
- 5:51Speaker 1: this week. And then it doesn't matter your religion, doesn't
- 5:53Speaker 1: matter where you are from. This is like it brought
- 5:56Speaker 1: people together all across the board. Do you remember anything
- 5:59Speaker 1: like this? Kobe is a good one because I remember
- 6:02Speaker 1: it happened on a Sunday in the Pro Bowls for
- 6:05Speaker 1: the Super Bowl. It was crazy. Yeah, and um, Joe
- 6:09Speaker 1: Testa tour was on the call of the Pro Bowl
- 6:11Speaker 1: and there was this account that people went, they went
- 6:14Speaker 1: into the locker rooms where all these NFL stars were
- 6:16Speaker 1: and told them that like Kobe Bryant had died, and
- 6:19Speaker 1: then they went and played the game, which is such
- 6:21Speaker 1: a bizarre game anyway, And then watching the broadcast, he
- 6:24Speaker 1: announces it really really strange, you know, And and even
- 6:27Speaker 1: Kobe such a different conversation than the Damar Hamlin conversation,
- 6:31Speaker 1: which is this young kid whose whole life and career
- 6:34Speaker 1: in front of him and we're just getting to know him.
- 6:36Speaker 1: So I can't think of something like this in sports.
- 6:38Speaker 1: There's been other things like this where everybody where it's
- 6:41Speaker 1: candle light vigil esque and you're hoping for something, but
- 6:43Speaker 1: this was truly unique. And the fact that happened on
- 6:45Speaker 1: Monday night football. And listen for me. When you see
- 6:50Speaker 1: a player down, he say outcrap of players injured and hopefully,
- 6:53Speaker 1: you know, he hope for the best, and he gives
- 6:54Speaker 1: us the thumbs up, and I guess he's done for
- 6:56Speaker 1: the night. You know, that's too bad. How's this gonna
- 6:58Speaker 1: affect the bill? Second Arry? And then I will never
- 7:01Speaker 1: forget the rest of my life. When Joe Buck said
- 7:03Speaker 1: they're administering CPR and then for all of us, that's
- 7:07Speaker 1: when I started to get really scared. And then, um,
- 7:10Speaker 1: that feeling did not subside for like three days when
- 7:13Speaker 1: they said, you know, he's opening his eyes and communicating.
- 7:15Speaker 1: So it turns out to be this beautiful story. But man,
- 7:18Speaker 1: for a few days there was ter It was digs
- 7:21Speaker 1: for me. Digs just like you just see, like the
- 7:23Speaker 1: t his face was just like wet from crying. And
- 7:26Speaker 1: then the moment that Burrow went over and hugged Josh,
- 7:31Speaker 1: I was like, you know, the whole I was with
- 7:34Speaker 1: a few people. Everyone was just like, oh no, this
- 7:37Speaker 1: is it's not good. Have you had the chance to talk.
- 7:39Speaker 1: I know you and Josh are tight. He comes on
- 7:41Speaker 1: Kyle Brand's basement once a week. Have you been able
- 7:42Speaker 1: to reach him or talk to him at all? Yeah?
- 7:44Speaker 1: We we We texted a few times. And um, all
- 7:48Speaker 1: I can say is that Josh Allen is is the
- 7:52Speaker 1: let me how do I put this? He just he
- 7:55Speaker 1: is more so than all of his peers. He loves
- 8:00Speaker 1: football and loves the brotherhood and loves the teammates like
- 8:04Speaker 1: that is what he was put on this planet for.
- 8:05Speaker 1: He is the son of a farmer from Fireball California,
- 8:09Speaker 1: who's known since he was a little kid that he
- 8:10Speaker 1: wanted to play pro football And this is so real
- 8:13Speaker 1: to him and it is so special, and he is
- 8:15Speaker 1: he just wants to be with his teammates all the time.
- 8:18Speaker 1: It's what he is into. He likes movies, and he
- 8:21Speaker 1: likes his girlfriend, and he is into bleep in football seven.
- 8:26Speaker 1: So for this, it just cut him so deep. And
- 8:29Speaker 1: even texting with him, like kind of was just phrasing
- 8:32Speaker 1: his words a little differently, and like you could just
- 8:34Speaker 1: tell he was just shook. And you know, then he
- 8:38Speaker 1: goes out Rachel and he and corks three touchdown passes
- 8:41Speaker 1: against the Patriots and it's like, oh yeah, that's stressed down,
- 8:43Speaker 1: Like he still has like that ability. And it's it's
- 8:47Speaker 1: been a crazy week with him too. And I'll talk
- 8:49Speaker 1: to him tomorrow for an extended time on camera. Been
- 8:51Speaker 1: in the last week or so, we've just texted. Well,
- 8:53Speaker 1: everyone should definitely be tuning into that. I will be
- 8:56Speaker 1: watching that absolutely Kyle Brand's basement. Um, I I have
- 9:01Speaker 1: to ask you, speaking of bleeping, you tweeted something. Now
- 9:04Speaker 1: the only thing left to do is win the whole
- 9:06Speaker 1: bleeping thing. Listen, we talk about miracles, we talk about
- 9:10Speaker 1: religion and believing in a higher path. There's been a
- 9:13Speaker 1: lot of that this week, but Gosh, I am behind
- 9:17Speaker 1: you on that, like they gotta go do it now, right,
- 9:20Speaker 1: there's nothing I can't imagine another ending to this story. Right. Well,
- 9:26Speaker 1: one of the things that Josh has said is that
- 9:29Speaker 1: he knows, and this is before tomorrow Hamlin's incident, he
- 9:33Speaker 1: already knows what his speech is going to be if
- 9:35Speaker 1: they win the super Bowl, that he's had it planned
- 9:37Speaker 1: for years. He knows what he's gonna say. He has
- 9:41Speaker 1: a special bottle of whiskey in his bar that he's
- 9:43Speaker 1: saving from the super Bowl. He's got the speech, he's
- 9:46Speaker 1: got the drink, he's got it all. And so you know,
- 9:49Speaker 1: one of the questions I'll ask him tomorrow is is
- 9:51Speaker 1: that speech gonna be a little different now because of
- 9:53Speaker 1: what you guys have been through? And I'm expecting his
- 9:55Speaker 1: answer to be yes. So, Um, they're really really tight,
- 10:00Speaker 1: and it's you start to if you believe in the destiny,
- 10:02Speaker 1: believe in the higher calling. Of course, now listen, let's
- 10:05Speaker 1: let's put the cards on the table. There is no
- 10:07Speaker 1: motivational thing that is going to guard Kelsey in the
- 10:10Speaker 1: title game if they have to play him. Kelsey is
- 10:12Speaker 1: a is a mother, and there's gonna be a gauntlet
- 10:15Speaker 1: in these an f C playoffs, So I know they
- 10:18Speaker 1: have everything going for him, but man, they're gonna need
- 10:20Speaker 1: all of it. I am just so pumped up for
- 10:24Speaker 1: playoffs and the super Bowl and it's getting real. Rihanna's
- 10:29Speaker 1: tweeting about it. Well, let's go, baby, Okay, not to
- 10:32Speaker 1: take a left turn again. Everyone wants to interview with
- 10:34Speaker 1: Josh Allen coming up. I'm so excited about it. Aaron Rodgers, Okay,
- 10:40Speaker 1: got beat by the Lions last night. There was this
- 10:42Speaker 1: whole kind of Jamal Williams asked for his jersey, he said,
- 10:46Speaker 1: I think I'm gonna keep this one. He had to
- 10:48Speaker 1: walk out in the tunnel with Cob. He seemed very
- 10:51Speaker 1: reflective his postgame interview. I'm sure you guys have all
- 10:54Speaker 1: heard the sound by now. He's not making any decisions,
- 10:57Speaker 1: but he could definitely leave. What are your thoughts on
- 11:00Speaker 1: all this, KBE. I feel like for the past few
- 11:02Speaker 1: years he's been winning m v p s and we're
- 11:05Speaker 1: all like, yeah, this has been probably the last that
- 11:07Speaker 1: you're going to see. If Aaron Rodgers, but this one,
- 11:08Speaker 1: I don't know. It kind of feels a little bit
- 11:10Speaker 1: different or am I wrong? Are you saying the same same?
- 11:14Speaker 1: No Isaac on this, I actually I think he's gonna
- 11:16Speaker 1: come back. I do, um and I just I haven't
- 11:20Speaker 1: heard anything compelling that tells me he's going to leave,
- 11:22Speaker 1: other than just we're just kind of watching and there's
- 11:25Speaker 1: this feeling of I think it's over, but that's nothing.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I Listen. I think the walk off with Cobb was
- 11:32Speaker 1: very deliberate, pushing the camera out of the way. Let me.
- 11:37Speaker 1: I think that was about Cobb because that's like his
- 11:39Speaker 1: best friend. It's been his friend for years, and I
- 11:41Speaker 1: think he knows that Randall Cobb will not be back.
- 11:43Speaker 1: So I think that was the saying goodbye to his friend.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Who does Rogers come back with the Packers or does
- 11:49Speaker 1: he go elsewhere and kind of do something like like
- 11:52Speaker 1: Tom Brady ask, No, I think it comes back to
- 11:55Speaker 1: the Packers. Listen. I hate to put it like this,
- 11:57Speaker 1: but let's just call it what it is out there.
- 12:00Speaker 1: He like he's gonna make fifty million bucks if he
- 12:02Speaker 1: comes back next year, Like even if he hated the
- 12:04Speaker 1: football and was done with it like that is even
- 12:07Speaker 1: for him is a massively significant figure to come back
- 12:11Speaker 1: one more time and chuck that old piskin at Christen
- 12:13Speaker 1: Watson a few times, let's see what happens. So yeah,
- 12:16Speaker 1: I think he's gonna He did make some comment about
- 12:18Speaker 1: like main generational wealth, and I'm so thankful hopefully I've
- 12:21Speaker 1: earned a little bit of that. But like, yeah, money's money, baby,
- 12:25Speaker 1: show me that Monday. If you were two time MVP
- 12:29Speaker 1: and you were Aaron Rodgers, how would you retire? Like
- 12:31Speaker 1: would you do the big bend thing of like circling
- 12:34Speaker 1: the stadium and waving at everyone? Would you have a
- 12:37Speaker 1: spicy offseason? Will he? Won't he? Would you have a
- 12:40Speaker 1: decision lebron Eske situation, how would you do it? KB? No,
- 12:44Speaker 1: I can't do that. Listen. Rogers will go and find
- 12:48Speaker 1: some rainforest, there's some geyser or some glacier, and he'll
- 12:53Speaker 1: be there on an alpaca or whatever the hell he is,
- 12:57Speaker 1: and it will be in the gonna see a meteor, Yeah,
- 13:00Speaker 1: it'll be. It'll be rioting in full then ninja monk
- 13:05Speaker 1: ob one canobid and he'll say farewell, and he'll have
- 13:09Speaker 1: this message or this quote and it will be beautiful,
- 13:11Speaker 1: but I think it will be probably Okay, all right,
- 13:15Speaker 1: fair enough, okay, before you let we let you go.
- 13:17Speaker 1: There are a few We're recording this on Black Monday,
- 13:21Speaker 1: the day after the regular season, where all of these
- 13:23Speaker 1: coaches get let go. Tom pallisera tweeted this out earlier today,
- 13:27Speaker 1: and by the time you're listening to this on Tuesday,
- 13:29Speaker 1: I don't know, there might be more. There are now
- 13:31Speaker 1: five NFL head coaching vacancies, the Panthers, the Colts, the Broncos,
- 13:35Speaker 1: the Texans and the Cardinals KB since the Colds hired
- 13:39Speaker 1: Jeff Saturday this year, anything's possible, Okay, anybody could fill
- 13:45Speaker 1: these coaching vacancies. So I went through those five teams
- 13:48Speaker 1: and I picked the people across a variety of different occupations.
- 13:53Speaker 1: X players, maybe some slebs, maybe some asters. I'm gonna
- 13:56Speaker 1: pitch you on them. If you've got some ideas, would
- 13:58Speaker 1: love to hear them. But I want to hear of
- 14:00Speaker 1: your thoughts on maybe some potential fill ins for these
- 14:03Speaker 1: coaching vacancies. We're gonna start with the Texans. I think
- 14:06Speaker 1: that this is easy. J. J. Watt, freshly retired. He's
- 14:10Speaker 1: gonna take the offseason gonna be like, listen, I missed
- 14:12Speaker 1: that football field. He had nine seasons with the Texans.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Maybe his body doesn't want to play football anymore. But
- 14:19Speaker 1: I mean, this guy clearly had a hard time retiring.
- 14:23Speaker 1: He was emotional. The brothers came out and celebrated him yesterday.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Um J J. Watt tell me, do you hate this? No,
- 14:32Speaker 1: he said, he's always going to be a Texan's and listen,
- 14:38Speaker 1: he never got to play with his brothers. So I
- 14:41Speaker 1: think in a little bit down the line, then you
- 14:43Speaker 1: have Derek Watt come and be the offensive coordinator and t. J.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Watt the defensive coordinator, and you team him up like
- 14:48Speaker 1: that beautiful. That defense is unstoppable. Then Okay, Panthers, I'm zigging.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I'm zigging. I'm zagging. Will Smith, huge Panthers fan. Apparently
- 15:00Speaker 1: he's maybe are we going to see him acting again?
- 15:03Speaker 1: I don't know post slap. Okay, we covered it on
- 15:05Speaker 1: g MFB as soon as it happened. That was one
- 15:07Speaker 1: of the greater TV experiences that I've had. Good at
- 15:10Speaker 1: motivational speaking. Okay, you know he's going to lift those
- 15:13Speaker 1: guys up. What say you, Will Smith? You lost me
- 15:17Speaker 1: at this Why Why is Will Smith, who's from Philadelphia?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Why is he a Panthers fan? Is an Eagle googled
- 15:24Speaker 1: slab football fans and Will Smith had a Panther's jersey
- 15:28Speaker 1: on it. Okay, so don't fact check me on this,
- 15:30Speaker 1: just roll with it. It's called nerdy retort that I had.
- 15:34Speaker 1: But I will still disagree. If there's gonna be any
- 15:37Speaker 1: any Panthers, especially one who will will not afraid to
- 15:41Speaker 1: show emotion, I will stay wrong Smith, but I would
- 15:43Speaker 1: go Steve Smith Senior. We're going to do the Jeff
- 15:47Speaker 1: Saturday about Steve smiththing you the greatest Panther of all times.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I actually really love that in this weird little website
- 15:53Speaker 1: that I found, which is clearly not accurate. According to
- 15:56Speaker 1: Kryle Brant, uh Diddy is a huge Panthers and so
- 16:00Speaker 1: maybe I don't think anyone I would actually want to
- 16:02Speaker 1: see that we get into that, we don't have to
- 16:05Speaker 1: get into the situation. We don't have to get into
- 16:08Speaker 1: a huge l a rams fan Beneff like, what what
- 16:13Speaker 1: maybe if you maybe the malware that you've been picking
- 16:16Speaker 1: up from going to Wicked. This podcast isn't for facts, Okay,
- 16:21Speaker 1: this is supposed to be the one for fun all right?
- 16:24Speaker 1: Next up Colts? I mean, come on, I think it's
- 16:26Speaker 1: pretty easy. Peyton Manning, who's saying no to that? Four
- 16:30Speaker 1: teen seasons with the Colts. Everyone would buy into this KB.
- 16:35Speaker 1: There would be nobody. I mean, listen, we love him
- 16:37Speaker 1: on Monday Night Football with Eli. We love all of
- 16:40Speaker 1: the We love that he started the production company, that
- 16:43Speaker 1: you your your podcast belongs to Okay, you can, you
- 16:45Speaker 1: can do that stuff. On the side, he could still
- 16:48Speaker 1: do dabble in the off season, that the players would
- 16:52Speaker 1: respect him, the fans would be pumped up to have
- 16:54Speaker 1: him back. Who's saying no, He already has a statue.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I thought maybe we would go with like acid Indianapolis
- 17:01Speaker 1: Colts fan Jennifer Lopez. Maybe maybe I don't know. Let
- 17:04Speaker 1: me check this website. Oh, it turns out Jay Loo
- 17:06Speaker 1: is not a fan of the Colts. What know? For Colts?
- 17:11Speaker 1: I would say, um, you know who actually is a
- 17:13Speaker 1: Colts fan? Who? I think it'd be a great coach
- 17:14Speaker 1: And David Letterman. I'll go with with David Letterman. My
- 17:19Speaker 1: great perspective. He's funny. None of the kids know who
- 17:21Speaker 1: he is, so they won't think he's a commedian, it
- 17:23Speaker 1: wouldn't be weird. Huh. I actually love that, But I
- 17:26Speaker 1: do like his name show on Netflix. I don't want
- 17:27Speaker 1: to get beat. Okay, Broncos, you're gonna hate this. I
- 17:32Speaker 1: went on the same website d I saw Tiger Woods
- 17:36Speaker 1: there with his ex girlfriend Lindsey Vonn. Lindsey Vonn is
- 17:40Speaker 1: actually the Broncos fan, but Tiger Woods was at a
- 17:42Speaker 1: game once. And then the more that I thought about it,
- 17:46Speaker 1: how cool would that be? Tiger Woods incredible athlete, incredible dedication.
- 17:51Speaker 1: I don't even know if he is a big NFL fan.
- 17:53Speaker 1: I saw him with a Stanford sweater on. We know
- 17:56Speaker 1: he likes college ball. Um, I think he could dedicate
- 17:59Speaker 1: enough time pick it up and uh, that would be incredible. Um.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Any time that I've talked to an athlete or seen
- 18:06Speaker 1: someone else talk to him and the question comes up
- 18:08Speaker 1: about you know what other athletes out there do you
- 18:11Speaker 1: really respect? Who do you admire? I'm telling you nine
- 18:14Speaker 1: out of ten times they say Tiger Woods, it could
- 18:16Speaker 1: be a football player, basketball player, baseball player, NASCAR driver.
- 18:19Speaker 1: These guys love Tiger for his domination, for how much
- 18:23Speaker 1: money he makes, and just because he's an icon. So
- 18:26Speaker 1: I think that would immediately work for something that athletes
- 18:28Speaker 1: are obsessed with Tiger and they would he would have
- 18:30Speaker 1: their bronco's country. Let's ride okay, and then finally the
- 18:34Speaker 1: Cardinal's position. Cliff was let go Kyler. Kyler should be
- 18:38Speaker 1: forced to do both. He did it in the preseason.
- 18:40Speaker 1: He made some calls, he called some plays. Uh, he
- 18:43Speaker 1: did a pretty decent job there. He is right there
- 18:45Speaker 1: calling some plays. Cliff I think did this as like punishment,
- 18:48Speaker 1: but then he was actually like somewhat teasing at it.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Kyler should do this. He he needs to. I know
- 18:53Speaker 1: he's injured, He's gonna hopefully be better and ready to
- 18:56Speaker 1: go next season. Um. I think he could learn a lot.
- 18:59Speaker 1: I can grow up a lot if he was trying
- 19:01Speaker 1: to to to double dip here, what do you think now?
- 19:05Speaker 1: Do you mean like he would be? He's doing both? Baby,
- 19:10Speaker 1: This is never seen before. This is a fake world
- 19:13Speaker 1: we're living in where Will Smith is a Panthers fan.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Kyler Murray can coach the Cardinals as well as play quarterback.
- 19:19Speaker 1: There's the thing that used to do, like back in
- 19:21Speaker 1: the nineteen twenties, where there was the player coach, where
- 19:24Speaker 1: the where the players were actually one of the coaches
- 19:26Speaker 1: and it's totally archaic, but it's a beautiful thing. And
- 19:29Speaker 1: like the coach would check himself into the game and
- 19:31Speaker 1: then call the plays and stuff like that. I don't
- 19:33Speaker 1: know if if I look at Kyler Murray is the
- 19:35Speaker 1: one to bring that back. It's weird of the punishment.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I think, yeah, that the coaching game is hard. It's
- 19:42Speaker 1: like one of the worst quality of life professions on
- 19:44Speaker 1: the planet. So um, yeah, somebody has to coach the Cardinals.
- 19:48Speaker 1: And if if none of the coach doesn't get along
- 19:50Speaker 1: with Kyler, maybe has to do it himself. Okay, Kbe,
- 19:53Speaker 1: We're going to send you off with the best news ever.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Are you ready for this? I don't even think people
- 19:59Speaker 1: have seen this. I I'm going to tell you this live.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Tomar Hamlin has been discharged from the hospital is returning
- 20:07Speaker 1: home to Buffalo. Per the physicians at the University of
- 20:11Speaker 1: Cincinnati Health. Baby, he is doing well and this is
- 20:16Speaker 1: the next stage of his recovery. Yeah, it's incredible. I mean,
- 20:21Speaker 1: this is a week is he gonna start against the
- 20:23Speaker 1: Dolphins this weekend? Is amazing. Back, Oh my god, what
- 20:28Speaker 1: great news, Kabe. We love you. Thanks for spending time
- 20:31Speaker 1: with us. And you know what DeMar Hamlin said this week,
- 20:34Speaker 1: go out and tell people that you love them. Kyle Brandt,
- 20:36Speaker 1: we love you on this show. Thank you for showing up.
- 20:40Speaker 1: WHOA see you next week. And I love you guys
- 20:43Speaker 1: as well. Thank you for listening. Thanks to Kabe, Thanks
- 20:46Speaker 1: to our crew for putting these shows together every single week.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Love love, love all right, coming up after the break,
- 20:52Speaker 1: we talk a lot about miracles this week because we
- 20:55Speaker 1: saw a few of them. And I opened my d
- 20:58Speaker 1: m s and ask you guys, what miracles that you've seen.
- 21:00Speaker 1: This is gonna be cheesy. Is gonna be cheesy, a
- 21:02Speaker 1: little zey, but it's very cute. So stick around full
- 21:20Speaker 1: January Sunday and week eighteen, as New England and Buffalo
- 21:25Speaker 1: are about to meet. And here's hands on the run
- 21:27Speaker 1: back breaking a tackle and taken it past midfield and
- 21:31Speaker 1: time to say that, he goes this is a a story book.
- 21:35Speaker 1: They don't kick off return for tomorrow, Hamlet, and this
- 21:39Speaker 1: place is absolutely going wild. You just said this is
- 21:43Speaker 1: a story book. This is almost bag. I just can't
- 21:46Speaker 1: believe it just happened to Dound the same thing. After all,
- 21:50Speaker 1: that's happened in these last six days. I don't believe
- 21:53Speaker 1: what we just saw here. It's so in of all
- 22:00Speaker 1: I almays forgot we were doing a podcast, like I
- 22:01Speaker 1: just got caught up in watching that again because it
- 22:04Speaker 1: was it was so amazing. So just to get a
- 22:07Speaker 1: sense of like how my Sunday works, I get off
- 22:10Speaker 1: the morning show literally at ten am. So by the
- 22:13Speaker 1: time I get home, it's like ten thirty. I'm like
- 22:15Speaker 1: missing the front half of the game. This happened obviously immediately.
- 22:19Speaker 1: And I was walking down the hallway and I walked
- 22:22Speaker 1: by the Red Zone studios, which you never hear. You
- 22:25Speaker 1: never hear loud things coming out of there, um and
- 22:29Speaker 1: all I air was yelling, and I was like, Scott
- 22:31Speaker 1: Anson has lost his mind today? What is going on?
- 22:34Speaker 1: And then by the time I get back into the
- 22:36Speaker 1: locker room to get changed, get ready to go home,
- 22:39Speaker 1: my phone had blown up and I saw what had happened,
- 22:42Speaker 1: and Cynthia Freedom and I just sat there and rewatched
- 22:45Speaker 1: it and rewatched it, and we were like, oh my god,
- 22:49Speaker 1: it is I mean, I think I speak for all
- 22:52Speaker 1: of this is one of the most incredible things I
- 22:54Speaker 1: think I've seen in sports, just it's you know. Josh
- 22:57Speaker 1: Allen went on to say, like it's you know, hard
- 23:00Speaker 1: to not believe in in something going on. I don't
- 23:03Speaker 1: want to get into all of that. I'm not religious,
- 23:06Speaker 1: you know. Um, whatever you believe in is whatever you
- 23:09Speaker 1: believe in. But sometimes when things like this happen, you
- 23:11Speaker 1: gotta believe is something's going on, Song's going on, people
- 23:14Speaker 1: are looking out, something funky's happening. That was incredible. That
- 23:18Speaker 1: was the greatest thing that I have seen in sports.
- 23:19Speaker 1: So it made me want to open up my d
- 23:21Speaker 1: m s and ask you, guys, I don't know, just
- 23:23Speaker 1: in this mood, I'm just in this emotional mood right now.
- 23:26Speaker 1: I wanted to ask you if there was like a
- 23:27Speaker 1: miracle that you had witnessed in or out of sports,
- 23:30Speaker 1: it didn't matter, you know. Did you see somebody get
- 23:32Speaker 1: out of their wheelchair and go, hallelluyah can walk again?
- 23:36Speaker 1: I would love to see that. That sounds magical. Um.
- 23:39Speaker 1: And I got a lot of d m s. And
- 23:40Speaker 1: to be honest, if you want a little like Pep
- 23:42Speaker 1: in your step today, go and just read this thread.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I got d m s and then I got just
- 23:46Speaker 1: people commenting on my Twitter and there's a lot of
- 23:49Speaker 1: really incredible stories, So I'm gonna read a couple of
- 23:52Speaker 1: them to you guys right now. Obviously, one that came
- 23:55Speaker 1: to mind immediately was um D Gordon hitting a home
- 23:59Speaker 1: run after Jose Fernandez died in a boating accident. So
- 24:04Speaker 1: let me just read this to you. I just like
- 24:06Speaker 1: ripped it off of Wikipedia. A left handed hitter, Dee Gordon.
- 24:10Speaker 1: He took the first pitch of his at bat as
- 24:12Speaker 1: a right handed batter, imitating Fernandez's batting stance with Fernande's
- 24:17Speaker 1: batting helmet in honor of his late friend. Uh the
- 24:20Speaker 1: picture out of respect. Through the ball, he just like,
- 24:23Speaker 1: you know, here you go. Uh. Then Gordon switched to
- 24:26Speaker 1: the other side and he got his right stands out.
- 24:29Speaker 1: He some nashed it. He said after the game that
- 24:33Speaker 1: he had never hit a ball that far, even in
- 24:37Speaker 1: batting practice. Okay, this is a guy that hit I
- 24:40Speaker 1: think eighteen home runs in his entire career. I think
- 24:42Speaker 1: he's a blink. Eighteen home runs and he hit one
- 24:46Speaker 1: on that day. This is not a guy. This is
- 24:48Speaker 1: not like fourth on the batting order. He's not He's
- 24:50Speaker 1: not playing clean up. He hit an incredible home run.
- 24:54Speaker 1: That's magic. You can't ignore that. That is magic. Um,
- 24:57Speaker 1: I love this. This brought me into tears this morning. Uh.
- 25:01Speaker 1: The year my dad passed away was the first season
- 25:04Speaker 1: I watched football in my entire life without him. We
- 25:07Speaker 1: are diehard Dolphins fans and notoriously hated the Patriots slash
- 25:12Speaker 1: Don Brady. Watching that Dolphins Pat's game that year, before
- 25:17Speaker 1: the final play, I said, Dad, if you're watching this
- 25:20Speaker 1: right now, please give me a sign. Then the Miami
- 25:24Speaker 1: miracle happened, the crazy lateral situation. I literally fell to
- 25:29Speaker 1: the ground crying and it's still shakes me up. Literally
- 25:33Speaker 1: after that kickoff, was like, if you're not watching sports,
- 25:35Speaker 1: what are you doing with your life? Because there there's
- 25:37Speaker 1: things that happened. There are these connections and these and
- 25:40Speaker 1: these beautiful, beautiful moments, um, and I'd like to share
- 25:44Speaker 1: a moment of my own. My dad passed away when
- 25:48Speaker 1: I was seventeen. I talked about it a lot, if
- 25:51Speaker 1: you haven't heard me talk about it, talk a lot
- 25:53Speaker 1: about mental health and and grieving and and all of those,
- 25:57Speaker 1: you know, uncomfortable things. But my dad was for eight years,
- 26:01Speaker 1: and Um, basically there was a point when we got
- 26:05Speaker 1: to the end of it that he was. We were like, okay,
- 26:07Speaker 1: this is it. He stopped eating and we all I
- 26:09Speaker 1: got pulled out up high school and um, it was
- 26:13Speaker 1: taken a little while for him to pass and we
- 26:16Speaker 1: make jokes about it. We were like, come on, was
- 26:18Speaker 1: going on? I gotta get I gotta go to prom. Okay, Um,
- 26:22Speaker 1: I can be darking about it because my experience. Um,
- 26:24Speaker 1: but he was taking a little while and it was
- 26:27Speaker 1: like five days down the road after we were told like,
- 26:29Speaker 1: this is it. And so I invited my friend over
- 26:32Speaker 1: for a sleepover, which sounds psychotic now that I think
- 26:35Speaker 1: about it as an adult. My father is about to
- 26:38Speaker 1: pass away in the next room, and I'm like, Whitney,
- 26:40Speaker 1: you want to come over and watch the o C.
- 26:42Speaker 1: She was like cashure. So we're up having like a
- 26:45Speaker 1: little slumber party and she falls asleep and I fall asleep.
- 26:49Speaker 1: And then at like two I think it was like
- 26:51Speaker 1: two fift am, Um, a picture frame comes flying off
- 26:56Speaker 1: of my wall. I swear this happened. Picture flame comes
- 27:00Speaker 1: flying off of my wall and smashes and it was
- 27:02Speaker 1: like a whatever picture. It was like me and a friend.
- 27:04Speaker 1: It wasn't anything significant, but it fell off right beside
- 27:08Speaker 1: my bedroom door. And then I woke up and I
- 27:11Speaker 1: was like, what the hell? And I noticed that there
- 27:13Speaker 1: was a small little sliver of light underneath my bedroom door,
- 27:16Speaker 1: which told me that my parents bedroom light was still on.
- 27:20Speaker 1: And you know, my dad was pulled out of the
- 27:22Speaker 1: hospital and brought home so that he could pass away
- 27:24Speaker 1: with with all of our families, so he was at
- 27:25Speaker 1: home with us, and uh, the bedroom light was on
- 27:28Speaker 1: and I was just like, whoa, why are they still awake?
- 27:30Speaker 1: And I go into my parents room and my brother
- 27:34Speaker 1: Jonas is standing over my dad and he was crying
- 27:37Speaker 1: and he looked at me and he said, he literally
- 27:39Speaker 1: just took his last breath a second before you got
- 27:41Speaker 1: in here. And I was able to have this final
- 27:45Speaker 1: moment with my dad instead of you know, waking up.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I'm sure somebody would have woken me up, but I
- 27:51Speaker 1: was able to have this final moment with him. And
- 27:53Speaker 1: I crawled into bed with him like a weirdo. That
- 27:56Speaker 1: seems No, it wasn't weird. It was beautiful and I
- 27:59Speaker 1: got to, you know, just hold onto him one last time,
- 28:03Speaker 1: and it's like you can't. You know, whatever you believe
- 28:05Speaker 1: and it doesn't matter. Um things, things happen. And that's
- 28:09Speaker 1: what happened with this game and Damar Hamlin's recovery and
- 28:13Speaker 1: the fact that he is a weeek. Literally today we
- 28:15Speaker 1: record this on Monday. He is out of the hospital
- 28:19Speaker 1: and on his way home, and man, I think all
- 28:22Speaker 1: of us are hoping that he can play football again.
- 28:24Speaker 1: We hope we see him next season, We hope. But
- 28:26Speaker 1: nothing but health for him above all else, football aside.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Who cares, um, But if you're going through stuff at
- 28:33Speaker 1: home and just you know, miracles happen every day and
- 28:36Speaker 1: beautiful things happen, and um, we're with the Buffalo community
- 28:40Speaker 1: and we're with Damar and U. Sports are a beautiful thing, baby,
- 28:44Speaker 1: Sports are a beautiful, beautiful thing. Okay, coming up after
- 28:48Speaker 1: the break, best and worst thing that I saw, I'm
- 28:50Speaker 1: gonna go crack. He's okay, the best and the worst
- 29:05Speaker 1: thing that I saw all week? What what a doozy,
- 29:08Speaker 1: What a doozy man that overtime game with Seattle Rams.
- 29:12Speaker 1: I wanted the Rams to win so bad. I have
- 29:15Speaker 1: loved cheering for the Seahawks this season and Gino and
- 29:19Speaker 1: that magic that's been incredible. They're in the playoffs and
- 29:22Speaker 1: coratulation Seattle. But we were this close to having the
- 29:25Speaker 1: Detroit Lions in the playoffs. Oh, that would have just
- 29:29Speaker 1: been beautiful. That would have been beautiful. Um. But instead
- 29:34Speaker 1: we don't happen to Troy Lions in the playoffs. But
- 29:36Speaker 1: we got one last parting SoundBite from my favorite player
- 29:40Speaker 1: this season, without question, Jamal Williams of the Detroit Lions.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Take it away a stout playing us. Man, we made.
- 29:49Speaker 1: We did a Detroit Lions. We did Detroit Lions. Stop
- 29:52Speaker 1: playing with us. I don't even watch TV, but I
- 29:54Speaker 1: heard everybody already pick their pick the Packers over us.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Stop playing with us. That's all I gotta say. Man,
- 29:59Speaker 1: don't let these tears for you. It's all dog around
- 30:01Speaker 1: his moat. Oh god, he is just so incredible and
- 30:08Speaker 1: at what a moment he came from the Packers. Now
- 30:10Speaker 1: he's on the Detroit Lions. You heard him. If you
- 30:13Speaker 1: said that like a year ago, we would have been like,
- 30:16Speaker 1: you know, I'm so, what what of it? You're on
- 30:18Speaker 1: the Detroit Lions. But now we're on the Detroit Lions.
- 30:21Speaker 1: You know, we would say it a little bit differently.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Jared got the top ten quarterback Watch where in Detroit,
- 30:30Speaker 1: Baby That's where I can't wait to see what the
- 30:33Speaker 1: Lions look like next season. Cannot wait. Oh, they are
- 30:37Speaker 1: going to be a contender hard Hard Knocks round two.
- 30:41Speaker 1: I'll just say, right now, get him back into the
- 30:42Speaker 1: groove because something worked. Um. Now, one of the worst
- 30:46Speaker 1: thing that I saw. People have some thoughts on Aaron Rodgers.
- 30:51Speaker 1: I'll just say that people have some thoughts on Aaron Rodgers. Um.
- 30:56Speaker 1: Post game, you know, Jamal was just like, hey, can
- 30:57Speaker 1: I have that jersey and goes anything, I'm gonna keep
- 30:59Speaker 1: this one, and then all of us we all started
- 31:00Speaker 1: paying attention. We all started paying very close attention to
- 31:04Speaker 1: what he did. And the next thirty to sixty to
- 31:08Speaker 1: two minutes, you know, um, he walked down the tunnel
- 31:13Speaker 1: out of Lambeau. He took his moments and looking around
- 31:16Speaker 1: O game, walks down the tunnel with Randall Cobb, and
- 31:19Speaker 1: he has this little run in with a camera guy.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Take a look. I mean, I kind of get it.
- 31:37Speaker 1: It feels like paparazzi esque. You know, he's having this
- 31:39Speaker 1: beautiful moment with Randall Cobb. Who Kyle. You know, We're
- 31:43Speaker 1: all like, oh, this is gonna be it for Aaron Rodgers.
- 31:45Speaker 1: But He's like, what's it for Randall Cobb. He's saying
- 31:47Speaker 1: about to his friend spicy okay, um, but I will
- 31:52Speaker 1: give Aaron Rodgers, you know, I'll give him some props.
- 31:56Speaker 1: He did have a beautiful moment, uh in the postgame
- 31:59Speaker 1: press conference where he kind of like gave his love
- 32:02Speaker 1: to everybody. It's pretty beautiful to look at this. I'm
- 32:05Speaker 1: gonna miss your questions TOI and Mike Clements taking ten
- 32:10Speaker 1: seconds to do it lead up and Pete angling for something,
- 32:17Speaker 1: and Bob writing stories about my personal life. You've been
- 32:23Speaker 1: good lately though, and Jason bringing it back home with
- 32:27Speaker 1: something that it's kind of heavy hitting. Stephanie Sutton coming
- 32:32Speaker 1: out of left field the good question, I missed the guys,
- 32:38Speaker 1: I missed the fans. Yeah, thank you. I don't know what.
- 32:43Speaker 1: I'm just emotional today, but everything's made me crying. So
- 32:49Speaker 1: he was asked like, you know, if this is it,
- 32:50Speaker 1: what are you gonna miss? And that's what he went
- 32:52Speaker 1: and said. He called out all the journalists and the
- 32:53Speaker 1: reporters that have been with him through a lot. You know,
- 32:56Speaker 1: he's not necessarily made their lives easy. You know. They
- 33:00Speaker 1: reported on everything from football to Ayahuasca in the last
- 33:04Speaker 1: twelve months, absolutely wild COVID everything. So I thought that
- 33:09Speaker 1: that was pretty cool that he took the time to
- 33:10Speaker 1: not only call them out by their first name, but
- 33:13Speaker 1: sometimes their last name, which is pretty amazing. You spent
- 33:15Speaker 1: a lot of time with those people, but a lot
- 33:16Speaker 1: of football players wouldn't take that time to get to
- 33:18Speaker 1: know them. Um, guys, that is our show, nothing but
- 33:21Speaker 1: love today. I'm just like feeling all the fields. Okay,
- 33:24Speaker 1: so I'm sending a hug to you good news about Tamar.
- 33:27Speaker 1: We are going to be back on Thursday, uh, sorry,
- 33:30Speaker 1: Friday or shows coming on Friday. How have I been
