- 0:00Speaker 1: It's the Mark Simone Show, live from the WOR LifeVac studios. Hey,
- 0:07Speaker 1: we'll take some calls in a minute. 800-321-0710 is the number. 800-321-0710.
- 0:16Speaker 1: You know, the San Gennaro Festival, San Gennaro Feast is
- 0:20Speaker 1: on right now. 100th anniversary. Now, Little Italy has been
- 0:25Speaker 1: shrinking through the years. Little Italy used to be 30 blocks.
- 0:29Speaker 1: It's five blocks now. It's been shrinking for a few reasons. One,
- 0:33Speaker 1: Chinatown's been creeping in, taking over blocks. And then developers
- 0:37Speaker 1: have been buying up blocks and building all sorts of
- 0:40Speaker 1: modern office apartment buildings, all sorts of stuff. And then
- 0:46Speaker 1: prices have been going up, astronomical rents. So a lot
- 0:48Speaker 1: of those multi-generational businesses have left. But it's still there.
- 0:54Speaker 1: And it's the 100th anniversary of the Feast of San Gennaro.
- 0:58Speaker 1: And there's new generations coming in. You know, there's all
- 1:00Speaker 1: the old Little Italy places that you all know. But
- 1:04Speaker 1: there's a lot of new young hotshot little places coming
- 1:08Speaker 1: in there. So it's on the San Gennaro Festival. Speaking
- 1:12Speaker 1: of eating, J.B. Pritzker. The problem is he's losing a
- 1:18Speaker 1: lot of weight. This is a problem because it's always
- 1:20Speaker 1: been great to call him a fat, slob, Ralph Cramden-looking governor.
- 1:24Speaker 1: But Pritzker... Now, they always say you can tell when
- 1:28Speaker 1: a guy's running for president because he'll start losing weight.
- 1:31Speaker 1: The old veterans always taught us that, the Bob Novaks
- 1:35Speaker 1: and the Evans and Novak. And they would always say, watch,
- 1:38Speaker 1: if he starts losing weight, if he starts buying better clothes,
- 1:42Speaker 1: it means he's running for president. So Pritzker has lost
- 1:45Speaker 1: 80 pounds all of a sudden. Now, he's a big,
- 1:49Speaker 1: fat Ralph Cramden-looking guy, but he's slimming down 80 pounds
- 1:52Speaker 1: so far on the GLP-1 shots. So that's caused all
- 1:58Speaker 1: kinds of talk about 2028. He said, when asked about it,
- 2:02Speaker 1: he said, well, I've been driven to lose weight my
- 2:05Speaker 1: whole life. It's been something I've wanted to do my
- 2:06Speaker 1: whole life. Well, all of a sudden you didn't do
- 2:09Speaker 1: it until now. So that's why it's a little suspicious.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Once the GLP-1 drugs became available, well, that changed everything
- 2:18Speaker 1: and I started using it. But again, a lot of
- 2:21Speaker 1: people lose weight. Remember Chris Christie, who was the other
- 2:24Speaker 1: big fat slob running for president? All of a sudden
- 2:27Speaker 1: got that lap band surgery. And by the way, I
- 2:32Speaker 1: think he's entitled to a refund on that surgery. Does
- 2:35Speaker 1: he look any thinner? Did he ever look any thinner?
- 2:38Speaker 1: But Pritzker losing weight. Hey, by the way, those GLP-1 drugs,
- 2:43Speaker 1: there's a new study out that shows they may cause
- 2:45Speaker 1: eye problems, serious eye damage that would be irreversible. I mean, listen,
- 2:50Speaker 1: there's always a study coming out that says one thing
- 2:52Speaker 1: or another, but I'm just warning you. That came out.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Nobody's really seen the full side effects. Hey, let's take
- 2:58Speaker 1: some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number. 800-321-0710. Let's go to
- 3:06Speaker 1: Kathy in North Carolina. Kathy, how you doing?
- 3:10Speaker 2: Morning, Mark.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Hello, Kathy. How you doing?
- 3:14Speaker 2: Good. You know, last week or whenever it was, when
- 3:19Speaker 2: that 9-11 widow mentioned the Saudi stuff, which kind of
- 3:22Speaker 2: surprised everybody. I mean, the whole monologue she did. I
- 3:27Speaker 2: guess my algorithm was listening to me because into my algorithm,
- 3:32Speaker 2: a documentary called The Fifth Plane. Am I like the
- 3:37Speaker 2: only person who knew about this or didn't know about
- 3:41Speaker 2: this rather? About the JFK plane. It was a very
- 3:44Speaker 2: good documentary. It's not brand new.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Yeah, the problem with documentaries is half of them are
- 3:49Speaker 1: totally fake and false and not true. But because they're documentaries,
- 3:53Speaker 1: they look like some sort of news program.
- 3:56Speaker 2: They had a lot of real people on there.
- 4:01Speaker 1: You can always find real people to do that. That
- 4:03Speaker 1: doesn't mean it's true. Look at the JFK assassination. There's
- 4:08Speaker 1: a million documentaries, including the Oliver Stone movie, that are
- 4:11Speaker 1: total fiction.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Okay, my question is, have you heard about the fifth
- 4:16Speaker 2: plane controversy, that there were Saudi people on it? Yes, yes.
- 4:21Speaker 2: And because they sat down at the hall.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Yes, and it turned out not to be true.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Really?
- 4:26Speaker 1: Okay. Now listen.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Because it looked pretty real to me.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Listen, listen, listen, listen to me. Some people want to
- 4:32Speaker 1: believe this stuff. Like with the JFK assassination, they want
- 4:35Speaker 1: to believe there were people in the grass. You know,
- 4:37Speaker 1: they just want to believe it. You can't argue them.
- 4:39Speaker 1: It's emotional.
- 4:40Speaker 2: But it's not.
- 4:41Speaker 1: It's not.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Well, we knew everybody was going to bomb us, so
- 4:45Speaker 2: why would that fifth not be?
- 4:48Speaker 1: If you want to believe there was a fifth plane,
- 4:49Speaker 1: you believe there was a fifth plane. Hey, late at night,
- 4:52Speaker 1: we got a flying saucer show on. You ought to
- 4:53Speaker 1: listen to that. No, stop.
- 4:55Speaker 2: I'm a very sensible girl.
- 4:58Speaker 1: No, seriously. They tell you all about the UFOs that
- 5:00Speaker 1: have been landing here left and right.
- 5:02Speaker 2: So you speak to it. You had heard of it,
- 5:05Speaker 2: and you have discarded it.
- 5:07Speaker 1: There's no getting through to you on this. It's not
- 5:09Speaker 1: you personally. It's just anybody who loves these conspiracy theories.
- 5:12Speaker 1: You can't talk them out of it. You remember the
- 5:14Speaker 1: Rosie O'Donnell that the World Trade Center was exploded, that
- 5:19Speaker 1: fire can't melt steel? Remember that one?
- 5:22Speaker 2: Oh, no, no. I'm not going there. How do you
- 5:24Speaker 2: think they make steel? I'm just saying that that— The
- 5:26Speaker 2: widow that was talking about the Saudis, I thought, I
- 5:29Speaker 2: didn't realize.
- 5:30Speaker 1: You can keep believing it. Enjoy yourself. Knock yourself out.
- 5:33Speaker 1: There's a fifth plane. You believe that.
- 5:35Speaker 2: I trust your opinion. I wasn't not believing it or not.
- 5:38Speaker 2: I just couldn't believe I'd never heard of it.
- 5:40Speaker 1: What's the temperature down there in North Carolina?
- 5:44Speaker 2: You know, it's been in the 90s. Really? So it's
- 5:46Speaker 2: pretty hot.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Oh. But today it finally cooled off a little bit.
- 5:50Speaker 2: And we always have the exact same weather you guys have.
- 5:53Speaker 2: It's cooled off there, right? I don't know what it is.
- 5:56Speaker 2: We have the exact same weather.
- 5:57Speaker 1: And what's the deal, North Carolina? There's no income tax?
- 6:02Speaker 2: There is income tax.
- 6:05Speaker 1: Why did you move to North Carolina?
- 6:07Speaker 2: It's very expensive here.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Why move there if you're in New York or New Jersey?
- 6:12Speaker 1: Why move to North Carolina?
- 6:15Speaker 2: It wasn't financial for me. It was... personal, but I
- 6:20Speaker 2: miss you guys so much, and especially want to hear
- 6:22Speaker 2: about Little Italy.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Thanks. All right. Well, thanks for calling, Kathy. You see,
- 6:26Speaker 1: that's the thing. I'm going to move to Florida. I'm
- 6:28Speaker 1: going to move to South Carolina. I'm going to move
- 6:30Speaker 1: to North Carolina. I'm going to move to Nashville. It
- 6:33Speaker 1: sounds great, but then all you do is you read
- 6:35Speaker 1: the New York Post every day, and you listen to
- 6:37Speaker 1: the New York radio, and you just miss everything here.
- 6:42Speaker 1: You miss everything here. Some of these states, Florida, there's
- 6:44Speaker 1: no income tax, no state income tax. That's what they
- 6:49Speaker 1: got to do to get people there. That's why people
- 6:51Speaker 1: are there. You know a state is really good when
- 6:53Speaker 1: they can charge a ton of income tax and people
- 6:55Speaker 1: still live there. I mean, you know, it's like a restaurant.
- 7:00Speaker 1: You have given away the food for free. Of course
- 7:01Speaker 1: you're going to have everybody coming. But if you can
- 7:04Speaker 1: charge a fortune and people still come, then you know
- 7:06Speaker 1: you're doing well. A Paramount merger, they have cleared the
- 7:11Speaker 1: way for it. We'll get to this coming up. So
- 7:14Speaker 1: Paramount is going to take over Warner Brothers Discovery, and
- 7:19Speaker 1: it'll be a huge entertainment conglomerate. There were all these
- 7:23Speaker 1: states that were suing to block it. They've settled, but
- 7:26Speaker 1: it's an intricate settlement. Anyway, we'll get to all of
- 7:28Speaker 1: that coming up. We've got a lot to talk about
- 7:30Speaker 1: in the next two hours. Don't forget, I'm here three
- 7:33Speaker 1: hours every day, nine to noon, nine to noon every day.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Then at noon, you've got Buck Saxon and Clay Travis.
- 7:40Speaker 1: We actually have the biggest, most listened to talk radio
- 7:43Speaker 1: shows all on this station. Buck Sexton, Clay Travis, 10
- 7:47Speaker 1: million listeners. Sean Hannity at three, the most listened to
- 7:51Speaker 1: radio show in America. Then you got Jesse Kelly at six.
- 7:54Speaker 1: You got Jimmy Fela. What a funny show every night.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Jimmy Fela every night, nine to midnight. It's all here
- 8:01Speaker 1: on 710WOR.
