Transcript
- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark Review podcast. I'm Megan,
- 0:14Speaker 1: and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a
- 0:16Speaker 1: former Hallmark hater. On today's episode, we're discussing Paris is
- 0:21Speaker 1: always a good idea. Episode six, the season finale, Nightly Revisited.
- 0:27Speaker 1: All episodes are now streaming on Hallmark Plus. Can I
- 0:31Speaker 1: tell you something exciting about Hallmark Plus? I finally figured
- 0:35Speaker 1: out how to not... I think... Not me. I don't
- 0:39Speaker 1: think I figured it out. I Oh, yes. So you
- 0:44Speaker 1: can rewind now. Yes. Yes. Have you noticed? Yes. Agreed. Because,
- 0:49Speaker 1: you know, it was so frustrating a year ago for
- 0:52Speaker 1: it to like just bug out. And it would rewind
- 0:55Speaker 1: all the way to the beginning. The one weird thing
- 0:58Speaker 1: I've noticed, though, is like if you hit like pause,
- 1:02Speaker 1: you have to actually like move down and pause it.
- 1:05Speaker 1: That's what I figured out yesterday because I would pause
- 1:07Speaker 1: it and then I couldn't get back. I would have
- 1:09Speaker 1: to totally back out of the show altogether to get
- 1:12Speaker 1: back on. And then I realized if on my remote,
- 1:15Speaker 1: I like... Down arrow. Down arrow. And then you see
- 1:19Speaker 1: like the remote functions on the screen. And I was like, oh. Yeah. Oh.
- 1:24Speaker 1: So it is improved. I would say it's not perfect,
- 1:25Speaker 1: but it's much improved. And I prefer this version over
- 1:28Speaker 1: the previous. Me too. Yes. That is excellent news. Me too.
- 1:33Speaker 1: And I got to tell you, you know... It's so
- 1:36Speaker 1: weird to see like all episodes streaming now for this show.
- 1:39Speaker 1: I don't watch a lot of live Hallmark, like Hallmark channels.
- 1:43Speaker 1: So I don't know if, did they promote the heck
- 1:45Speaker 1: out of this show or has there been like buzz
- 1:48Speaker 1: around it or anything? Do you know? Did they promote
- 1:52Speaker 1: it on the main Hallmark channel? I don't, I don't know.
- 1:55Speaker 1: They promoted the heck out of it on social. I mean,
- 1:57Speaker 1: they've really gone all in on the social promos. Well,
- 2:01Speaker 1: I just hope that they got their worth out of it.
- 2:04Speaker 1: Like they're, their bang for their buck. It seems like
- 2:07Speaker 1: a lot of people are watching it. I hope so too.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I hope so too. And I gotta say, I was
- 2:11Speaker 1: kind of sad that it's over. I know. I enjoyed it.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Do you want to get into it? Let's hear a synopsis.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Change is in the air as Chelsea looks back on
- 2:23Speaker 1: all of her loves and losses now finally ready to
- 2:27Speaker 1: face the future and anything it may hold for her.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I would like to shout out listener Summer who theorized
- 2:34Speaker 1: that because every episode other than the nightly episode was
- 2:38Speaker 1: blank revisited. She theorized that the final episode would be
- 2:42Speaker 1: nightly revisited and she was correct. Smart girl. I read
- 2:46Speaker 1: that email too. And then when I went back to
- 2:48Speaker 1: watch the episode a second time to do my notes,
- 2:51Speaker 1: I was like, oh, it is called Nightly Revisited. I
- 2:53Speaker 1: was like, look at that smarty in our emails. So
- 2:57Speaker 1: as a reminder where we left off, we're a year
- 3:00Speaker 1: in the future, which is the present basically. But Chelsea
- 3:05Speaker 1: left Nightly a year ago. She's been living and working
- 3:10Speaker 1: in Spain. She quit the ACC to take over running
- 3:14Speaker 1: the And her and Marcos are not a thing. They
- 3:18Speaker 1: are not a thing. They make that very clear multiple
- 3:20Speaker 1: times in this episode. And Sherry and Glenn are getting
- 3:25Speaker 1: married at Marcos' castle. Yes. So, interestingly, this episode opens
- 3:32Speaker 1: by setting up an entirely different storyline that I did
- 3:35Speaker 1: not see coming. I gotta tell you, I'm very excited
- 3:38Speaker 1: for it. Marcos is getting a little flirty with Annabelle. Uh-huh.
- 3:42Speaker 1: I like it.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Me too.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Marcos is incredibly charming and seems, as we discussed last week,
- 3:48Speaker 1: like an actually good guy.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Yes.
- 3:50Speaker 1: He's not throwing up red flags. No. Other than the
- 3:53Speaker 1: fact that, you know, there's no such thing as an
- 3:54Speaker 1: ethical billionaire. He is at least trying to give away
- 3:56Speaker 1: his money. So... He's so hot. This man is so beautiful.
- 4:01Speaker 1: He is very beautiful. And... Chelsea spots it like from
- 4:07Speaker 1: afar and is not bothered at all. There's no moment
- 4:10Speaker 1: where she's like, don't like that. And she even tells
- 4:12Speaker 1: Annabelle like, go for it. She says like, we were
- 4:16Speaker 1: barely a thing. Like there's no feelings there whatsoever. So
- 4:20Speaker 1: are we to understand then, did we ever see Marcos
- 4:25Speaker 1: and Chelsea kiss? Yeah, we did. In a previous episode?
- 4:28Speaker 1: We did. We saw their love story. Are we love,
- 4:32Speaker 1: I'm quoting- Did they like have a thing, you know,
- 4:36Speaker 1: like a physical thing? No, because it was so new.
- 4:39Speaker 1: She was, you know, she pushed him away for so
- 4:41Speaker 1: long and she wasn't interested. And then when he finally
- 4:44Speaker 1: won her over, he had asked her to stick around
- 4:47Speaker 1: because she was supposed to be moving on and then
- 4:49Speaker 1: she bounced. You know, I think there's something to be
- 4:51Speaker 1: said for these romances. All three of her European love stories,
- 4:57Speaker 1: in quotation marks, getting caught up in the The romance
- 5:02Speaker 1: of it all.
- 5:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:02Speaker 1: You know, the vacation love. And I think that's what
- 5:07Speaker 1: it was. I think Marcus was a good guy. There
- 5:08Speaker 1: was a little bit of an attraction, but he just
- 5:11Speaker 1: wasn't the one. Yeah. I love that she was like,
- 5:14Speaker 1: okay with her sister potentially pursuing that.
- 5:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Because maybe she's looking at it and she's like, well,
- 5:20Speaker 1: that's a better fit. Or I want to see Annabelle
- 5:22Speaker 1: happy and this could be a thing.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I love that they opened the episode with that. And
- 5:27Speaker 1: then it's a full bookend with the end of the
- 5:29Speaker 1: episode as well, too. So we'll get there. But question
- 5:33Speaker 1: for you. Doesn't Marco seem like slightly older than Annabelle?
- 5:36Speaker 1: He does. Like kind of a lot older. Annabelle seems
- 5:39Speaker 1: so young to me. She presents so young. I agree. Yeah.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Maybe they're like closer in age in real life. It
- 5:48Speaker 1: doesn't really matter. But to me, Marco seems almost a
- 5:50Speaker 1: little bit like too mature for her. Yeah, he does
- 5:53Speaker 1: seem older than her. I don't have a read on
- 5:55Speaker 1: anyone's ages in this. I feel like Chelsea and Knightley
- 5:59Speaker 1: are of a similar age. But everyone else, like if
- 6:03Speaker 1: you told me Annabelle was 23, I would believe you.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Me too.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Even though it makes no sense. Yeah, same. And if
- 6:09Speaker 1: you told me Marcos was 45, I would believe you. Same.
- 6:14Speaker 1: One thing, the other thing I like about this scene
- 6:16Speaker 1: is Chelsea's like kind of starting to spin out about
- 6:20Speaker 1: missing Knightley. And she's like, I don't know what to do.
- 6:25Speaker 1: At this point, she's recorded most of the Knightley message.
- 6:29Speaker 1: And she's like, I can't send it. And Annabelle's like,
- 6:33Speaker 1: you just got to do it. Like, you got to
- 6:35Speaker 1: figure it out. Right. And she says, no, therapize me.
- 6:39Speaker 1: They say that word so much in this series that
- 6:41Speaker 1: I've tried to use it in my own. But I
- 6:48Speaker 1: like Annabelle. She's like, no, man, you're on your own. Well,
- 6:52Speaker 1: it's funny because I put in my notes that I
- 6:56Speaker 1: feel like Annabelle is definitely the catalyst. Catalyst? Maybe that's
- 7:01Speaker 1: not the right word. But she's pushing Chelsea throughout this
- 7:04Speaker 1: entire series. She's making Chelsea do all these things. I
- 7:08Speaker 1: don't know if Chelsea would have gotten there on her
- 7:10Speaker 1: own without Annabelle really pushing her. Definitely a combination of
- 7:15Speaker 1: Annabelle and her mom. Like her mom running in the
- 7:17Speaker 1: background and then Annabelle being like the real time kind
- 7:21Speaker 1: of making these things happen. Like not letting her ignore
- 7:24Speaker 1: the message left to her by her mom. Exactly. She's
- 7:28Speaker 1: going to wrap up the message.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 1: And she's like, here's the real reason I left. And
- 7:33Speaker 1: she flashes back to her mom being sick. And we
- 7:35Speaker 1: keep getting... her mom saying like i can't tell you
- 7:39Speaker 1: all my secrets i can't tell you all my secrets
- 7:41Speaker 1: i'm gonna tell you this one doesn't 100 land for
- 7:43Speaker 1: me same in the entire episode and they get to
- 7:47Speaker 1: it later and they explain it maybe i'll wait but
- 7:51Speaker 1: i just felt like i understand what they were trying
- 7:53Speaker 1: to say in that her mom was saying no like
- 7:57Speaker 1: your dad was my person i need you to find
- 7:59Speaker 1: your person yeah but the analogy doesn't 100% work for me.
- 8:05Speaker 1: So just want to put that out there. I think
- 8:07Speaker 1: it's a lovely sentiment. I like the idea. Her mom
- 8:10Speaker 1: tells this story about how you fell off the monkey
- 8:13Speaker 1: bars and you were always the kind of person who
- 8:14Speaker 1: had to figure something out for yourself. Like I couldn't
- 8:16Speaker 1: tell you like, no, no, You're going to hurt yourself
- 8:19Speaker 1: or no, that's too hard. Like, you just had to
- 8:21Speaker 1: do it. Right. Which is why, like, I had to
- 8:24Speaker 1: let you go and figure things out. Like, that's always
- 8:27Speaker 1: who you've been. That's why I can't tell you, like,
- 8:30Speaker 1: how to figure out if you're in love. Yeah. As
- 8:33Speaker 1: a mom who's been giving my adult child a lot
- 8:36Speaker 1: of advice lately. Yeah. I don't know if I could...
- 8:40Speaker 1: sit on something and be like oh no you just
- 8:42Speaker 1: have to figure it out on your own even if
- 8:44Speaker 1: I had some wisdom to share yeah it doesn't yeah
- 8:47Speaker 1: it doesn't really work for me either here I do
- 8:50Speaker 1: agree with you like I see the sentiment and and
- 8:53Speaker 1: it comes full circle later when we see the vows
- 8:55Speaker 1: between the dad and the mom and all that I
- 8:58Speaker 1: don't know it was weird though to me the way
- 9:02Speaker 1: it's executed later when we see the vows I think
- 9:04Speaker 1: is quite lovely it's just the messaging we'll talk about
- 9:07Speaker 1: it When we get there. Okay. Glenn's going through it.
- 9:10Speaker 1: He's having a why can't it be me moment. This
- 9:13Speaker 1: moment was a hard watch. Very hard to watch. We
- 9:16Speaker 1: saw this in that Christmas movie we just watched where
- 9:21Speaker 1: the little girl was sick and the mom was like,
- 9:23Speaker 1: why can't it be me? You're right.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Yes.
- 9:26Speaker 1: And I fully understand that sentiment.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Why can't I just take their place? But he's like,
- 9:33Speaker 1: we've been going through this for months and she's like, what?
- 9:35Speaker 2: Months?
- 9:36Speaker 1: This is another moment where I'm like, okay, wouldn't she
- 9:39Speaker 1: have already known how long her mom was sick? She
- 9:41Speaker 1: comes home and she's like, did you just find out?
- 9:44Speaker 1: I can understand. Part of it is I could understand
- 9:48Speaker 1: you don't want to disrupt your child's life, right? There's
- 9:53Speaker 1: no need for... If I'm the mom in this situation, there,
- 9:57Speaker 1: I wouldn't want to like disrupt my child's life and
- 9:59Speaker 1: be like, you need to come back and be with me.
- 10:03Speaker 1: But on the other hand, this was, this is what was,
- 10:08Speaker 1: if I was Chelsea, I would be kind of pissed too. Oh,
- 10:12Speaker 1: I'd be enraged that my parents kept it from me.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Because I would want to spend that time, right? And
- 10:19Speaker 1: that's what the mom knew, right? Even if the parents
- 10:21Speaker 1: weren't going to say, because when the time came that
- 10:23Speaker 1: she needed to come home, her dad called her and said,
- 10:26Speaker 1: you need to be here. But I think they knew
- 10:29Speaker 1: if they told her ahead of time that she would
- 10:31Speaker 1: come home. While I understand that, that should have been
- 10:34Speaker 1: her decision to make. She was a big girl, adult. Yes. Right.
- 10:40Speaker 1: And if it were me, I would... I get both
- 10:43Speaker 1: sides of it. Like as the mother of a young adult,
- 10:46Speaker 1: I want them to live their life in it or me.
- 10:48Speaker 1: I wouldn't be like, no, put your life on hold
- 10:49Speaker 1: and come home and sit here while I'm sick. But
- 10:53Speaker 1: if that's a decision they make, that's their decision to make.
- 10:56Speaker 1: I know. Part of me is... Knowledge is power. I know.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Here's some argument too. Like if I was the sick
- 11:05Speaker 1: one and I was like, oh, you need to come home,
- 11:06Speaker 1: then that might be admitting defeat. That you're like, this
- 11:10Speaker 1: is it. You know what I mean? Sure. And so
- 11:12Speaker 1: I could see like being a nice mental game of, no,
- 11:17Speaker 1: I'm still going to fight. But don't you think there's
- 11:19Speaker 1: a difference between I'm sick and you need to come
- 11:20Speaker 1: home and I'm sick and you should just know? Like,
- 11:22Speaker 1: you're my daughter and here's what's going on.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. For sure. There's definitely a difference there.
- 11:28Speaker 1: I just hate not having information or knowing that information
- 11:31Speaker 1: has been kept from me.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:32Speaker 1: I hear you. The thing I hated in this scene...
- 11:36Speaker 1: I just thought it was so weird that Glenn comes
- 11:40Speaker 1: over and he's like very defensive of he's defending the
- 11:44Speaker 1: decision or whatever. Yeah. Chelsea's pissed. Yeah. Right. And she
- 11:49Speaker 1: could be pissed. And then the mom's like, this is
- 11:51Speaker 1: like so therapy talk here. Like, oh, she's allowed to
- 11:54Speaker 1: feel what she wants to feel, you know? And while
- 11:57Speaker 1: I agree with that, but I just thought it was
- 11:58Speaker 1: a weird, the dad being like, Don't yell at your mom? Yeah,
- 12:04Speaker 1: kind of. And he's like, I'm here to protect you.
- 12:09Speaker 1: I just thought it was weird. Did you?
- 12:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:11Speaker 1: I just, I can kind of understand like your wife
- 12:15Speaker 1: is actively dying and you go into like protective mode
- 12:19Speaker 1: when your kid is yelling at them. Yeah, she was
- 12:22Speaker 1: barely yelling. I know. You're right. But I could see
- 12:26Speaker 1: how that could affect Chelsea later on. You know what
- 12:30Speaker 1: I mean? She could hold some resentment towards her dad for,
- 12:34Speaker 1: you know, it could be all tied together. Like, you
- 12:36Speaker 1: didn't tell me and then this and blah, blah, blah.
- 12:39Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Such a minor point in the entire series that I'm
- 12:44Speaker 1: I'm not totally hung up on it, but it just
- 12:46Speaker 1: landed weirdly for me. Well, speaking of landing weirdly, there
- 12:49Speaker 1: is a choice made in this scene that I do
- 12:52Speaker 1: not understand. Go ahead. There is a flashback of after
- 12:57Speaker 1: her mom has passed and has left the Paris Revisited envelope,
- 13:00Speaker 1: Glenn and Chelsea, and I guess Annabelle. But this person
- 13:04Speaker 1: we've never seen before is sitting there. They've recast her.
- 13:08Speaker 1: And I cannot understand this decision at all. I don't
- 13:13Speaker 1: know either. Chelsea plays young Chelsea. Why can't... Give Annabelle
- 13:16Speaker 1: some bangs. Annabelle looks so young anyway. The actress who
- 13:22Speaker 1: plays Annabelle anyway. They could have easily put her in
- 13:24Speaker 1: like a soccer uniform. It would have just been... And
- 13:28Speaker 1: a ponytail. Yeah, it would have been fine. Yeah, I
- 13:30Speaker 1: don't know. Do you think they went back and reshot
- 13:33Speaker 1: this scene? Or this was... And the girl who played
- 13:36Speaker 1: Annabelle wasn't available?
- 13:38Speaker 2: Or.
- 13:39Speaker 1: They shot it before she had been cast? Before she
- 13:40Speaker 1: was cast. I don't know.
- 13:42Speaker 2: It was weird.
- 13:44Speaker 1: You saw the scene before I had, and you sent
- 13:46Speaker 1: me a screenshot, and you're like... Who the freak is this?
- 13:48Speaker 1: You're like, why couldn't Annabelle have been here? And I.
- 13:53Speaker 1: Didn't know what that scene was. And so when I
- 13:55Speaker 1: saw it, I thought this is the wildest choice I've
- 13:57Speaker 1: ever seen. So weird. I wish we knew. Have you
- 14:00Speaker 1: ever seen some of the outtakes from when Friends was
- 14:04Speaker 1: readapted for like a widescreen format? There's some like pulled
- 14:07Speaker 1: back scenes that were never meant to be seen where like.
- 14:10Speaker 1: There's a stand in for Monica.
- 14:12Speaker 2: No.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Just sitting there and it's not actually Monica. It's like
- 14:16Speaker 1: the actress who doubles her, but she's just so the
- 14:19Speaker 1: actors have somewhere to look because she's not in the scene.
- 14:21Speaker 1: And then all of a sudden, like you can see her.
- 14:23Speaker 2: No.
- 14:23Speaker 1: It's kind of like that. Oh my gosh. Nobody was
- 14:25Speaker 1: meant to see this. Anyway. Oh, wow. I might have
- 14:28Speaker 1: to go watch Friends now to look for those scenes.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:31Speaker 1: I don't think there's that many of them, but I'm
- 14:33Speaker 1: sure you can look up like. On TikTok. Yeah. Anyway,
- 14:39Speaker 1: let's go to Boston. Question. I mean, look, did we
- 14:44Speaker 1: know Annabelle was going to be coaching soccer? Did I
- 14:46Speaker 1: call it last week? You did. This is not a stretch. Now,
- 14:51Speaker 1: you're Annabelle. Do you call your sister and you're like,
- 14:53Speaker 1: I see your ex-boyfriend and he's here with a woman?
- 14:55Speaker 1: Not in the moment. I would slyly take some photos
- 14:59Speaker 1: or a video or something, but I wouldn't. She like
- 15:01Speaker 1: FaceTimes him sitting there with a woman. No.
- 15:04Speaker 2: No.
- 15:05Speaker 1: And I was like, that's got to be another sister.
- 15:08Speaker 1: The second I saw her. Yeah, me too. I was like...
- 15:11Speaker 1: And she looks like the other sister. Oh, I haven't
- 15:14Speaker 1: thought about that. But the fact that at the end
- 15:17Speaker 1: when she's like, Jay, when she calls him Jay. Yeah.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I was like, hmm. You know, we finally get the
- 15:24Speaker 1: car conversation where it's figured out or revealed that they're
- 15:29Speaker 1: all family or whatever. But it kind of... This is where...
- 15:35Speaker 1: I feel like maybe the series could have done a
- 15:39Speaker 1: little bit better in terms of sharing more about Knightley.
- 15:44Speaker 1: Like we knew he had the younger sister. Did we
- 15:47Speaker 1: know that there was another sister or two? Yeah, he
- 15:49Speaker 1: had talked about sibling. Okay. And then Chelsea doesn't go, oh,
- 15:54Speaker 1: that's his sister. She's so in love with this man.
- 15:56Speaker 1: She doesn't know like what his other sister looks like.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I mean, they had such like a brief love affair.
- 16:02Speaker 1: I guess. You know, it was three days in Paris
- 16:05Speaker 1: or whatever. And Chelsea doesn't go, well, maybe that's not
- 16:10Speaker 1: a girlfriend. I don't know. Yeah, I know. I know.
- 16:13Speaker 1: So here's my question. We've had a lot of misdirection
- 16:16Speaker 1: in these episodes, like Sebastian showing up in the bridal
- 16:21Speaker 1: suite and Chelsea overlooking the vineyard. We think it's. Yes. Yeah.
- 16:29Speaker 1: Is it too much? I'm not over it. Not the vineyard.
- 16:32Speaker 1: The castle grounds, whatever. Well, the castle grounds is a vineyard.
- 16:35Speaker 1: You're right. Is it too much? I don't think so.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Is that just what we got to do for the
- 16:42Speaker 1: sake of this story? Yeah. So we get to Chelsea
- 16:49Speaker 1: finally doing what she should have done last week. And
- 16:51Speaker 1: that's getting money for the ACC from Marcos. God, duh.
- 16:55Speaker 1: I'm just curious. I have worked in the nonprofit fundraising space,
- 17:00Speaker 1: and I am not sure any foundation has... And maybe
- 17:05Speaker 1: this is different because they're actively trying to give away money.
- 17:08Speaker 1: But I have never been reached out by someone who
- 17:10Speaker 1: was like, hey, I want to give you money. I
- 17:12Speaker 1: have money to give away. Because there's plenty of people
- 17:14Speaker 1: asking them for money. They don't need to find people
- 17:15Speaker 1: to give it to. Anyway, she.
- 17:19Speaker 1: I think it's kind of silly that she gets this
- 17:21Speaker 1: like harebrained idea like, I'm going to pitch them so
- 17:25Speaker 1: I can get Knightley here. I also think she's been
- 17:29Speaker 1: there for a year and that wasn't her first donation.
- 17:32Speaker 1: I know. Knowing that they were in financial trouble.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:37Speaker 1: Anyway, she reaches out. Knightley's all business. And of course, like,
- 17:42Speaker 1: it's the red dress, but the wrong guy. And when
- 17:46Speaker 1: the car is pulling up, you know, I was like,
- 17:47Speaker 1: why is Knightley? Why is she having this pitch in person? Like,
- 17:51Speaker 1: why is she making this person come to the Spanish countryside? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 17:55Speaker 1: You know? Because she's Sophie now. Because she's got money
- 17:58Speaker 1: to give away. And she's like, you come to me, baby. Yeah.
- 18:01Speaker 1: And it's Aiden. I actually kind of like that it
- 18:03Speaker 1: was Aiden closing the loop on that relationship. Yeah. And
- 18:06Speaker 1: I like like Aiden was like, duh, my two like lead. Yeah.
- 18:10Speaker 1: I knew all the time. I knew the whole time. Yeah, yeah. Anyway,
- 18:14Speaker 1: she's like, I'm gonna give you two million annually.
- 18:16Speaker 2: We good?
- 18:16Speaker 1: We good.
- 18:16Speaker 2: We good.
- 18:18Speaker 1: The timing is so weird because, like, Aiden shows up, like,
- 18:22Speaker 1: maybe the day before her family shows up, too. Yeah, yeah. So,
- 18:27Speaker 1: very convenient. Aiden, of course, tops it off with, is
- 18:30Speaker 1: your wine organic? Oh. What's funny about the organic line?
- 18:36Speaker 1: Just because he was. That's his vibe. Oh, okay. Mr. Yoga, Mr.
- 18:42Speaker 1: All Things Organic. Oh, that's right. That's right. We have
- 18:46Speaker 1: this ongoing joke with my dad because my dad does
- 18:49Speaker 1: Tai Chi. Oh, yes. That's so funny because every time
- 18:53Speaker 1: I see someone doing Tai Chi, I think of your
- 18:54Speaker 1: dad because you told me. Have I told you that?
- 18:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:56Speaker 1: And then... You were like, do you do it like
- 18:59Speaker 1: at the park? And he's like, no, in the bedroom.
- 19:01Speaker 1: He doesn't have a bedroom. But then I was like,
- 19:04Speaker 1: when you said that, I'm like, why doesn't he do
- 19:05Speaker 1: it in the backyard? Like be one with nature. Well,
- 19:07Speaker 1: he follows a video or something. Got it, got it,
- 19:09Speaker 1: got it. That makes sense. Anyway, but like my dad's
- 19:12Speaker 1: not like the is your wine organic kind of guy. No,
- 19:14Speaker 1: he's not the classic Tai Chi avatar. No, not at all.
- 19:20Speaker 1: But does he do it for like... What does what
- 19:25Speaker 1: what does he do it for? What does Tai Chi
- 19:27Speaker 1: do for you? Is it? I don't know. I have
- 19:30Speaker 1: no idea. I mean, flexibility. Is it centering? Is it relaxing?
- 19:34Speaker 1: I think just like centering and relaxing body movements. I'm
- 19:46Speaker 1: trying to look for do not disturb and I don't
- 19:48Speaker 1: know where that is on my computer. It's the little
- 19:51Speaker 1: toggle button next to the date at the top right corner. Oh,
- 19:54Speaker 1: my God. Stop it. Or just turn your volume off. Oh,
- 19:57Speaker 1: focus there. Do not disturb. It's on, actually. Oh, there
- 20:00Speaker 1: it is. That's because you have your kid allowed to
- 20:02Speaker 1: break through.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Probably.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Just turn the volume off on your computer. Sorry, sorry, sorry, sorry.
- 20:08Speaker 1: How do I do that? When Gen X tries to... God,
- 20:12Speaker 1: I know. Oh, my God. Sorry, sir.
- 20:15Speaker 2: All right.
- 20:15Speaker 1: So here comes the family. Everyone's happy. They love the castle.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Annabelle meets Marcos and is like, damn, he's hot. And
- 20:23Speaker 1: then she says you have nightly blinders on when Chelsea's
- 20:25Speaker 1: not into Marcos, which I loved.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:28Speaker 1: So funny, right? And then we, like, kind of go back.
- 20:32Speaker 1: So in the last episode, I was like, are we
- 20:34Speaker 1: going to get Declan? Was that his name? Yeah, the
- 20:37Speaker 1: guy from Ireland. My daughter has a friend whose boyfriend's
- 20:40Speaker 1: name is Declan. So anyway, I was like, is Declan
- 20:42Speaker 1: going to come back? No, we get no Declan. But
- 20:44Speaker 1: we have two potential dudes for Annabelle. And she talks
- 20:48Speaker 1: about how, like, you know, I used to think, like,
- 20:51Speaker 1: I see him, would see him everywhere. And Chelsea's like,
- 20:54Speaker 1: does it get easier? And Annabelle's basically like, no, it doesn't. Yeah,
- 20:57Speaker 1: this is a good conversation here. Yeah. The ache is
- 21:01Speaker 1: always there. Yeah, that's a great line. That is a
- 21:04Speaker 1: great line. Prior to the scene, prior to the scene,
- 21:08Speaker 1: I laughed out loud. I was like, I felt very
- 21:10Speaker 1: seen because Marcos wants to go get like a drink
- 21:14Speaker 1: with Annabelle and- and Chelsea's like oh we have bachelorette
- 21:22Speaker 1: duties to do and Annabelle's disappointed and Chelsea's like I
- 21:25Speaker 1: live to be a wet blanket and I was like
- 21:28Speaker 1: that's the best so the best live to be a
- 21:31Speaker 1: wet blanket needlepoint that on a pillow.
- 21:34Speaker 2: I freaking loved it I laughed I thought it was
- 21:36Speaker 2: so funny but we learn in this conversation with Annabelle
- 21:42Speaker 2: and Chelsea that Annabelle's ex Ryland.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Is he plays for Real Madrid. Real Madrid there in Spain.
- 21:50Speaker 1: But it's like close, but not close to where they're at. Yeah,
- 21:53Speaker 1: like in the same country, but... Yeah. And Chelsea's like,
- 21:57Speaker 1: you should reach out to him. She encourages Annabelle to
- 22:01Speaker 1: reach out to Rylan, but Chelsea's like, you need to
- 22:04Speaker 1: reach out to Knightley. Annabelle says you need to.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. She's like, I will if you will. And...
- 22:11Speaker 1: This kind of goes back to the last episode where
- 22:13Speaker 1: Annabelle was like, do you really believe in a second
- 22:16Speaker 1: chance at love? And she says, for you, I do.
- 22:18Speaker 1: And so, you know.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:21Speaker 1: She wants Annabelle to have her happy ending, too. I'm
- 22:25Speaker 1: going to guess that you hated the bachelorette party. I
- 22:27Speaker 1: didn't hate it. Okay. I did have a little secondhand embarrassment.
- 22:36Speaker 1: For which part of it? I thought the execution was
- 22:38Speaker 1: not great.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Oh.
- 22:40Speaker 1: When they were first singing, what song was it? Walking
- 22:46Speaker 1: on Sunshine?
- 22:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:48Speaker 1: It just, the execution was so bad. There was one
- 22:50Speaker 1: girl in the back who had the microphone, but Annabelle
- 22:54Speaker 1: and Sherry did not have microphones. And then they were
- 22:57Speaker 1: like talking while there's all this singing going on. And,
- 23:01Speaker 1: you know, I joked. Like last week about like if
- 23:04Speaker 1: they had like penis straws.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 1: I did cut that out of the episode.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Well, she did have like a straw, but it was
- 23:09Speaker 1: like a heart on it or something. Or it was
- 23:13Speaker 1: like a lollipop. I don't know what it was, but
- 23:15Speaker 1: it was funny. I was just like, because I'm a
- 23:19Speaker 1: wet blanket, you know? I was like, okay. What about
- 23:22Speaker 1: Chelsea singing? I was a little bit uncomfortable at first. Uh-huh.
- 23:28Speaker 1: I was like, this is going to be terrible. But
- 23:30Speaker 1: it got better as she went on. And I was like,
- 23:32Speaker 1: props to Lacey Chabert for going for it. Because I'm
- 23:36Speaker 1: pretty certain that was her singing. It did sound like
- 23:39Speaker 1: her voice. I thought she was great. For a person
- 23:41Speaker 1: who does not sing.
- 23:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I know that I could not have executed the way
- 23:45Speaker 1: that she did. Me neither. I mean. But I did
- 23:47Speaker 1: love at the end, this song is what makes her realize.
- 23:51Speaker 1: She's like, I'm not so moving on. Kelly would be
- 23:54Speaker 1: so disappointed in me. Yeah. Right. I thought that was funny.
- 23:56Speaker 1: When she said Kelly, I was like, who is she
- 23:58Speaker 1: talking about? I was like, oh, Kelly Clarkson.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:02Speaker 1: That was awesome. And then, of course, Annabelle has a
- 24:05Speaker 1: good time entirely against her will, which I love. She's like,
- 24:09Speaker 1: this is actually kind of fun. I was wondering, I'm like,
- 24:11Speaker 1: who are all these other people there for this bachelor party?
- 24:13Speaker 1: Where did my ponytail go? Later that night, Chelsea finds
- 24:17Speaker 1: Glenn watching the video from his first wedding. And he's
- 24:23Speaker 1: super nervous because he knows how things can go sideways.
- 24:26Speaker 1: He's like, oh, it rained that day and that was
- 24:28Speaker 1: my biggest worry at the time. And like. I had
- 24:30Speaker 1: no idea. That was a good scene. That is a
- 24:32Speaker 1: good scene. I thought it was a really good scene.
- 24:35Speaker 1: And it is kind of another full circle moment where
- 24:39Speaker 1: Chelsea gives her full support of her dad and his marriage.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I thought that was nice. And then she... watches the
- 24:48Speaker 1: vows and this comes back to her mom talking about
- 24:51Speaker 1: like you're the keeper of my secrets and then we
- 24:53Speaker 1: get the flashback of her mom saying like i can't
- 24:56Speaker 1: tell you all my secrets and then the paris revisited
- 24:59Speaker 1: pack where they listened to the voice memo where she
- 25:03Speaker 1: also mentions the secrets and she's like oh my gosh
- 25:07Speaker 1: i need to find my own person like you're the
- 25:09Speaker 1: person niley that i want to tell all my secrets
- 25:11Speaker 1: to so what don't you like about that Because we
- 25:15Speaker 1: talked at the top of the episode that... Yeah.
- 25:17Speaker 2: The only.
- 25:18Speaker 1: It's not that I don't like it. I like that
- 25:20Speaker 1: there's an attempt to bring this full circle, but it's
- 25:24Speaker 1: been since episode one that we've been having this. And
- 25:29Speaker 1: I understand the point they were trying to make. The only...
- 25:32Speaker 1: It just doesn't 100% get there for me. Okay. That's all.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I didn't come to the same realization that Chelsea did
- 25:41Speaker 1: in that moment. The other kind of full circle moment
- 25:45Speaker 1: is she references Knightley calling her selfish in episode one
- 25:51Speaker 1: for not being able to be there for her family.
- 25:52Speaker 1: And she's like, you're absolutely right. And that realization is
- 25:56Speaker 1: what allows me to be there for them today. So that,
- 25:59Speaker 1: you know, that all, that all works. It's the wedding
- 26:04Speaker 1: day and Chelsea's finally going to send this voice memo.
- 26:07Speaker 1: I mean, it's about time. Did you notice that when
- 26:11Speaker 1: she sends it, I think it says it's like 14 minutes.
- 26:13Speaker 1: 14 minutes. Which I think someone else had added that
- 26:17Speaker 1: up in our group. Didn't somebody else do that? Or
- 26:19Speaker 1: have they already seen it? Oh, I don't know. I
- 26:21Speaker 1: don't remember. But yeah, 14 minutes. Annabelle has reached out
- 26:25Speaker 1: to Rylan. And we hear the start of the memo,
- 26:30Speaker 1: like back from episode one, playing over the wedding, which
- 26:33Speaker 1: was kind of a nice touch. A montage of her
- 26:36Speaker 1: time with Knightley. I love the line, when you love someone,
- 26:39Speaker 1: you will do anything for them, even break your own heart.
- 26:42Speaker 1: And then I'm yours if you'll have me. I know. Again,
- 26:46Speaker 1: like a little, I guess I don't like vulnerability because
- 26:50Speaker 1: I don't think I would ever walk away from somebody
- 26:54Speaker 1: and pine over them for a year and then be like,
- 26:58Speaker 1: Shelly's under the impression that he's with somebody else. And
- 27:02Speaker 1: she's like, I'm yours if you'll have me. Like, no,
- 27:06Speaker 1: that feels too vulnerable. It does feel very vulnerable. But
- 27:11Speaker 1: don't you think she needed to be the one to
- 27:12Speaker 1: be vulnerable after being the one who left and left
- 27:15Speaker 1: under allowing him to believe that she no longer had
- 27:19Speaker 1: feelings for him? Well, stop the charade and just be like, look,
- 27:23Speaker 1: I know I couldn't tell you why I left. The
- 27:26Speaker 1: reason I left was because so you could keep your job.
- 27:28Speaker 1: And the question is, does she ever actually tell him?
- 27:33Speaker 1: like just let this guy think otherwise i i don't
- 27:36Speaker 1: know because then you're keeping secrets and he's supposed to
- 27:39Speaker 1: be the guy you tell all your secrets to sure
- 27:42Speaker 1: i did like the staging of this she hits send
- 27:46Speaker 1: and niall is right behind her and the message comes
- 27:48Speaker 1: through yeah he comes at the top of the stairs
- 27:50Speaker 1: it's it's i got the same feeling of um a
- 27:54Speaker 1: built more christmas when chris palaha's character standing at the
- 27:57Speaker 1: top of the stairs i just love the staging of
- 27:59Speaker 1: it too it was nicely executed Yeah, and he's like,
- 28:03Speaker 1: did you just send me a pitch? What are you pitching? Us?
- 28:05Speaker 1: I mean. Yeah, I loved it. Me too. Me too.
- 28:08Speaker 1: I thought it was charming. And then it's kind of
- 28:10Speaker 1: just like a mishmash of things getting wrapped up. Glenn
- 28:16Speaker 1: and Cherry have their first dance. First of all, can
- 28:19Speaker 1: I tell you, they play Let's Stay Together. We played
- 28:24Speaker 1: that song at my wedding. I was like the very
- 28:26Speaker 1: last song of the night. Yeah, so I always love
- 28:28Speaker 1: when I hear that song. And I also loved Sherry's
- 28:33Speaker 1: speech that she made. It's the only thing that made
- 28:35Speaker 1: me cry in this episode. Me too. But honoring Christine
- 28:39Speaker 1: Martin's former wife and the mom, I just thought that
- 28:44Speaker 1: was so nice. Really lovely. So nice. I like Annabelle, like,
- 28:50Speaker 1: spotting Knightley in she's mouth, like, that was fast. Yeah.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Right?
- 28:54Speaker 1: The DJ dropping in Heaven is a Place on Earth. Great. Yeah.
- 29:01Speaker 1: think the gen xers in us are like of course
- 29:04Speaker 1: yeah a little belinda carlisle this we as you mentioned
- 29:08Speaker 1: in a previous episode we are the hallmark demo i
- 29:10Speaker 1: know yeah right so play our music yes i mean
- 29:14Speaker 1: that i i'm a little bit older than you but
- 29:17Speaker 1: that was such a huge hit when i was in
- 29:18Speaker 1: middle school such a huge hit And then Marcos asks
- 29:22Speaker 1: Annabelle to dance. And while they're dancing, Rylan calls, but
- 29:28Speaker 1: of course she doesn't see it, setting up a nice
- 29:30Speaker 1: little love triangle for Annabelle. And I think the thing
- 29:33Speaker 1: it does is it sets us up. I think we're well,
- 29:35Speaker 1: I have no idea if we're gonna get a season
- 29:37Speaker 1: two but I do think we're well set up for
- 29:40Speaker 1: it I hope so there are plenty of questions to
- 29:42Speaker 1: be answered if they wanted to go that direction and
- 29:47Speaker 1: if you look at this as just a one season
- 29:49Speaker 1: I think it at least puts Annabelle in a position
- 29:52Speaker 1: where she's got some forward movement She's accepting that there
- 29:57Speaker 1: can be love again after her heartbreak.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Yes.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Agree. But I'm like, what does that look like? Does
- 30:04Speaker 1: Annabelle go to Spain to be with Marcos? Does Chelsea
- 30:08Speaker 1: stay in Spain? And Miley even asks this question. What's
- 30:12Speaker 1: the plan? Yeah. I love that they kept it open ended.
- 30:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:16Speaker 1: We're going to figure it out together because I think
- 30:20Speaker 1: There is no neat bow that can be tied here.
- 30:22Speaker 1: They do need to figure some things out. But I
- 30:25Speaker 1: like that they address that because that's my question, too. Like,
- 30:28Speaker 1: what is the plan? They're just dancing and smoothing at
- 30:32Speaker 1: each other like, oh, I love you. I love you. Yeah,
- 30:35Speaker 1: it's it's a little like too sweet for me. I'm like,
- 30:41Speaker 1: let's make it steamy and sexy like we did in
- 30:43Speaker 1: some of the other episodes. But we are at a
- 30:45Speaker 1: family wedding, so I don't know how crazy we can
- 30:48Speaker 1: get here. Yeah, and there's still some banter. He does say, like,
- 30:50Speaker 1: you're the meanest person I've ever met in, like, a
- 30:53Speaker 1: loving way. I thought Lacey was excellent in this series. Yeah,
- 30:56Speaker 1: I thought she was good, too. One of the best
- 30:58Speaker 1: things I've ever seen her do is... I would love
- 31:01Speaker 1: more Scott Michael Foster. Totally. I know we got him
- 31:04Speaker 1: earlier this year in Return to Office, but could we
- 31:07Speaker 1: please get another movie with them? Oh my God, was
- 31:09Speaker 1: that this year? I think so. Oh, wowza. I think so.
- 31:12Speaker 1: I could be wrong. Was it last year? I don't remember. Well,
- 31:16Speaker 1: we got him at some point in Return to Office.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I would be very open to a second season of this.
- 31:21Speaker 1: We did get an email suggesting that The author, Jen McKinley,
- 31:25Speaker 1: has written an Annabelle book. And I read the synopsis.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Oh, really?
- 31:29Speaker 1: It's a completely different story. Annabelle's in a completely different place.
- 31:32Speaker 1: So while I do think there's a place for Annabelle's
- 31:35Speaker 1: story to go, I don't think it would be based
- 31:36Speaker 1: on unless there's something that can be drawn from that.
- 31:40Speaker 1: It's an entirely different story she's got going on.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Oh.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Anyway. Well, I liked it. I hope that I'm sure
- 31:48Speaker 1: they'll show it on Hallmark Channel eventually. Not this year, but.
- 31:53Speaker 1: I'm sure it will drop into the main channel. Don't
- 31:56Speaker 1: you think so? Eventually? Well, we haven't seen any hint
- 32:00Speaker 1: that Hope Valley is dropping into the main channel. You
- 32:02Speaker 1: know what? You're right.
- 32:05Speaker 2: You know, maybe.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Maybe. It's entirely possible, but it could be that they're
- 32:10Speaker 1: holding out to get people over on. Yeah. We shall see.
- 32:13Speaker 1: You know, people didn't love when they did that. When
- 32:16Speaker 1: they did those Hallmark Plus exclusives and then re-aired them,
- 32:18Speaker 1: they're like, we've already seen this. Well, yeah, those who
- 32:21Speaker 1: pay the money for Hallmark Plus and was like, yo,
- 32:24Speaker 1: I already watched this. Sure. Now I want something new
- 32:27Speaker 1: on my other channel. Yeah, I don't blame them. All right.
- 32:29Speaker 1: We'd love to hear what you thought about this series.
- 32:31Speaker 1: You can email us hello at girlsgonehallmark.com. And thanks for
- 32:35Speaker 1: listening to this episode of Girls Gone Hallmark. We'll be
- 32:38Speaker 1: back next time with more Hallmark reviews. Goodbye.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Bye. Bye.
- 32:53Speaker 1: All right, friends, before we go, just a quick heads up.
- 32:55Speaker 1: You're about to hear some ads. These little gems help
- 32:57Speaker 1: us keep the show running and the Hallmark love flowing.
- 33:01Speaker 1: So do with that info what you will. Grab a snack,
- 33:04Speaker 1: hit the skip button, or maybe, just maybe, listen in
- 33:07Speaker 1: and discover your new favorite product.
- 33:10Speaker 2: Bye.
