- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30We are talking about tiny acts of bravery today and I am
- 0:34purposefully using the word bravery because I don't think we
- 0:37need to beat around the Bush and I think we need to be honest and
- 0:41be brave. Sometimes we just have to be
- 0:43brave. So how does this show up daily
- 0:47for us? Well, we all need to be brave
- 0:50going out into the day that we have set up for ourselves
- 0:53because lots of times we are in the opportunity state of we
- 0:57could be overwhelmed. We could have too much work, too
- 1:00many clients, too many tasks to do.
- 1:03We have to deal with parents that are aging.
- 1:07We have to deal with children that are sick.
- 1:08We have to deal with relationships that aren't
- 1:11working. We have to deal with hard
- 1:12conversations. The list goes on and on and on,
- 1:16and one of the first things that it requires is awareness.
- 1:20And right behind awareness, we could probably drop in bravery.
- 1:24Sometimes we just need to pull that word out and say I need to
- 1:28choose to be brave. What does that look like?
- 1:31So sometimes it's hard to identify bravery, and at least
- 1:37it is for me. Sometimes it's like, well, how,
- 1:39how will brave show up? What, what, what does that even
- 1:42look like? And once I ask it, I can start
- 1:45to identify how brave would potentially look, how it could
- 1:48look, what it should look like. And then I can make a decision
- 1:52of if that's what I want to do. But you have to ask the
- 1:55question. You have to know what does your
- 1:57bravery look like? It's funny because we talk here
- 2:02on the farm a lot about bravery in reference to Roosters, and
- 2:06this morning it was no different.
- 2:08We have a hawk lately that's been circling around and it's
- 2:12not one of our typical ones. It's a big one and there's a
- 2:17difference. And I can't tell.
- 2:18My husband's the Raptor guy. So it's either a red shoulder or
- 2:22a red tail, whichever 1 is bigger.
- 2:24We normally have the smaller ones, but this is a giant 1 and
- 2:27it could take away one of our big girls.
- 2:30So the crows, as many of you know, I feed them so that they
- 2:34work in tandem. They're like alert system and
- 2:36they will protect the hens and it's awesome.
- 2:39They do such a fabulous job. And I give them peanuts and I
- 2:43feed them and they're they're great.
- 2:45And I think that the crows and the Bluebirds are like the
- 2:49secondary system. They are incredibly brave.
- 2:51They will go right after all of these Hawks that are out there
- 2:56and our Roosters are two Roosters that we have now, Rufus
- 3:01and which I think we've settled on Hulk Hogan because everybody
- 3:05seems to keep calling him Hulk because he looks like Hulk
- 3:08Hogan. They are very different than our
- 3:12last rooster and they are very, very brave.
- 3:16They will screech, send the alerts out and all the girls run
- 3:22and they do not run. They do not run unless they you
- 3:25watch them run to get the girls hidden and then they turn right
- 3:29around and come back out. They go right into the middle of
- 3:31the fields to say I need to do my job and see what's here.
- 3:36And it's the complete opposite of the last rooster we had.
- 3:40And he would run and hide and leave everybody behind.
- 3:42And the joke became he's like George Costanza.
- 3:45He just takes off in the middle of a fire and leaves the kids
- 3:48and the women to die. And these two are not.
- 3:52So we use that word a lot here in reference to them.
- 3:55They're so brave. They just go right out there and
- 3:57they don't care. And they're not scared.
- 3:59They stand there. They look right up at the sky.
- 4:02It it's quite interesting to see how different they are.
- 4:07And even if something comes in that they're not aware of you,
- 4:11you can see that their reaction is going to be different.
- 4:14They are just very different creatures.
- 4:16Brave. They are very brave in my
- 4:18opinion, so I'm used to using it there.
- 4:22But for myself, do I think certain things are brave?
- 4:25No. But recently when I went out to
- 4:26speak, a client said to me it's so brave of you to get up on
- 4:29stage and talk. And I was like what?
- 4:31I I don't think of that as brave.
- 4:33But for her, she totally thought that that was brave.
- 4:37I don't think anything of it. It's like, no, this is what I'm
- 4:41supposed to do. And for a long time I refuse to
- 4:44do it. And then I thought about it.
- 4:46I was like, wow, years ago, 25 years ago, I would never have
- 4:51gotten up there. I, there was no way I would have
- 4:53done it. And I thought, what's the
- 4:55predominant word that comes into my head about it?
- 4:58Uncertain, scared, not knowing if I could do it, what would
- 5:01they think? All the bad stuff that was right
- 5:04there was at the forefront of my memory.
- 5:06And the word bravery was no somewhere insight.
- 5:09And I thought, wow, it's interesting how I was focused
- 5:12completely on all the thoughts of, you know, despair in the
- 5:17moments of years ago thinking about speaking.
- 5:20And she said, oh, well, you're so brave.
- 5:23But I had never thought of it that way.
- 5:25Even now, I don't think of it that way.
- 5:27And I couldn't put my finger on what the transition was Like,
- 5:30where did I go from 1:00 to the other?
- 5:32I still haven't figured it out. I talked to my coach about it
- 5:35and we talked about it to the AD nauseam, but I still couldn't
- 5:39figure it out. And I'm like, OK, we're just
- 5:41going to let it go. And I don't know what the switch
- 5:43was. And maybe someday I will have
- 5:45the the awareness. But now I say to myself, well,
- 5:48that's kind of cool. I can think of that as brave.
- 5:51I can choose to adopt what she saw in me and say that.
- 5:54So something to think about. Go find your brave spot.
- 5:58Go find it because I think we need it more and more in these
- 6:00days. Choose bravery.
- 6:02All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I'll
- 6:04see you tomorrow. Bye.
