- 0:00Speaker 1: There's a version of you that only wakes up when
- 0:02Speaker 1: the world goes to sleep. Not the version they see
- 0:04Speaker 1: during the day. Not the one who smiles politely.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Answers e-mails.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Gets things done and follows the plan no this version
- 0:38Speaker 3: the midnight version doesn't care about plans it doesn't need
- 0:43Speaker 3: permission it just is at night something shifts the noise
- 0:53Speaker 3: quiets the pressure disappears and suddenly it feels like you
- 0:59Speaker 3: can breathe again That's when the ideas start to come.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Not the safe ones.
- 1:06Speaker 4: The real ones.
- 1:07Speaker 3: The wild ones. The ones you buried under memes and
- 1:11Speaker 3: messages and maybe later. But now it's quiet. And your
- 1:17Speaker 3: mind finally has space to play. You begin to imagine things.
- 1:23Speaker 3: You think in color. You write with no filter. You
- 1:27Speaker 3: dream without fear of being called too much or not enough.
- 1:33Speaker 3: And here's the truth no one really says out loud.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Creativity doesn't follow a schedule. It doesn't clock in at
- 1:42Speaker 3: 9 and leave at 5. It comes when your soul
- 1:45Speaker 3: feels safe. And sometimes, that's only after the night. So
- 1:53Speaker 3: maybe you felt it. Lying in bed, your heart racing
- 1:56Speaker 3: with a new idea. Or sitting at your desk at
- 1:59Speaker 3: 2 a.m. creating something that feels like it's coming from
- 2:04Speaker 3: somewhere deeper than magic or routine. That version of you,
- 2:11Speaker 3: the one who creates in the quiet, is not a mistake.
- 2:16Speaker 3: It's not just late-night energy or insomnia. It's you, stripped
- 2:21Speaker 3: of performance. It's your raw self, unfiltered and real. Don't
- 2:28Speaker 3: ignore it. Don't shut it down just because a world
- 2:31Speaker 3: runs on calendars and clocks. Lean into it. Write the story.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Paint the vision. Build the dream. Even if no one
- 2:42Speaker 3: sees it yet. Especially if no one sees it yet.
- 2:50Speaker 3: You don't need the sun to shine. Sometimes your brightest
- 2:53Speaker 3: ideas are born in the dark.
- 2:58Speaker 2: So, you know, you got to find out what works
- 3:00Speaker 2: for you.
- 3:00Speaker 1: What works for you.
- 3:02Speaker 5: I was more so of a, I was a midnight
- 3:04Speaker 5: workout guy. You see, it's about three o'clock in the
- 3:07Speaker 5: morning and there's not a car or a person in sight.
- 3:11Speaker 5: People want to know where I find my strength at,
- 3:13Speaker 5: where I get my strength. I get it from a
- 3:15Speaker 5: lot of places. But right now, this morning, I'm getting
- 3:18Speaker 5: it from, there's not a mother that's up. There's not
- 3:21Speaker 5: a car. There's not a person. Everybody's in their bed, sleep,
- 3:25Speaker 5: dreading that it's a Monday. Hate it's a Monday. And
- 3:28Speaker 5: I'm loving it. I'm loving that. Where everybody's getting weaker,
- 3:31Speaker 5: I'm getting stronger. It's not about the running, the swimming,
- 3:35Speaker 5: the push-ups, the sit-ups. It's about what those things do
- 3:38Speaker 5: for your mentality. You don't get better on the daggone couch.
- 3:42Speaker 5: You get better by coming out here and getting the
- 3:45Speaker 5: f * * * after it every daggone day.
- 3:48Speaker 6: And when people put Kobe or other people on a pedestal,
- 3:52Speaker 6: it's because that man loved it more than anything. Of course,
- 3:54Speaker 6: when AI's like, yo, and then we go to the
- 3:56Speaker 6: club and Kobe's in the gym, I know why. The
- 3:58Speaker 6: same reason I was in the office last night at
- 4:00Speaker 6: 10 p.m. I'm not in the office last night at
- 4:02Speaker 6: 10 p.m. because I need to make another dollar. I'm
- 4:05Speaker 6: in it because I like this more than chopping up
- 4:08Speaker 6: or getting drinks. This is more fun for me.
- 4:11Speaker 7: Work. Some of you love sleep more than you love success.
- 4:15Speaker 7: And I'm here to tell you today, if you're going
- 4:17Speaker 7: to be successful, you've got to be willing to give
- 4:20Speaker 7: up sleep. You've got to be willing to work off
- 4:23Speaker 7: of three hours of sleep, two hours. If you really
- 4:25Speaker 7: want to be successful, some days you will have to
- 4:27Speaker 7: stay up three days in a row. Because if you
- 4:30Speaker 7: go to sleep, you might miss the opportunity to be successful.
- 4:34Speaker 7: That's how bad you've got to want it.
- 4:36Speaker 1: If you don't believe you, then no one else will.
- 4:39Speaker 1: So I'm not looking for a handout. I will... Become
- 4:43Speaker 1: the resource. I will believe in myself. All roads start
- 4:49Speaker 1: with you and you alone.
- 4:53Speaker 7: But what you're also saying is there's huge value in
- 4:56Speaker 7: things that suck.
- 4:57Speaker 1: On the other side of something that sucks is something
- 4:59Speaker 1: worth cherishing.
- 5:01Speaker 2: I would say not just huge value, but the value.
- 5:07Speaker 2: If you avoid those things that are hard, if you
- 5:10Speaker 2: don't accept that challenge... if you don't step up and
- 5:15Speaker 2: step into that cold water and you sit on your
- 5:17Speaker 2: couch and eat Doritos, I can tell you this is
- 5:23Speaker 2: not a good move.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Don't do that. Don't do that. Just get up.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Move towards that challenge, whatever that challenge is. Move towards
- 5:33Speaker 2: that challenge and go attack it. And you may be
- 5:38Speaker 2: successful and you may not be successful, but you will
- 5:41Speaker 2: be better And the next challenge, you're gonna be more
- 5:46Speaker 2: prepared for.
- 5:47Speaker 4: I often ask undergraduates, How many hours a day you
- 5:51Speaker 4: waste or how many hours a week you waste and
- 5:53Speaker 4: the classic answer is something like four to six hours
- 5:56Speaker 4: a day You know inefficient studying Watching things on YouTube
- 6:00Speaker 4: that not only do you not want to watch that
- 6:02Speaker 4: you don't even care about that's probably four hours right
- 6:05Speaker 4: there No, you think well, that's 20 25 hours a week.
- 6:09Speaker 4: It's a hundred hours a month. That's two and a
- 6:11Speaker 4: half full work weeks It's half a year of work
- 6:14Speaker 4: weeks per year and if your time is worth anything
- 6:17Speaker 4: $ 20 an hour, which is a radical underestimate. It's probably
- 6:20Speaker 4: more like 50. If you're wasting 20 hours a week,
- 6:23Speaker 4: you're wasting $ 50, 000 a year. And you are doing that
- 6:27Speaker 4: right now. And so if your life isn't everything it
- 6:30Speaker 4: could be, you could ask yourself, well, what would happen
- 6:32Speaker 4: if you just stopped wasting the opportunities that are in
- 6:35Speaker 4: front of you?
- 6:38Speaker 8: It's always the quiet work that you put in with
- 6:41Speaker 8: your own two hands when no one else is watching.
- 6:44Speaker 8: That's the one degree of of separation from you and
- 6:47Speaker 8: everyone else when it comes to productivity. It's the quiet
- 6:51Speaker 8: work you put in when no one else is watching.
- 6:53Speaker 7: Do not expect anybody else to hold you accountable like
- 6:57Speaker 7: you hold you accountable because nobody knows what you do
- 6:59Speaker 7: in secret. Nobody can be with you 24-7. Hold yourself
- 7:02Speaker 7: accountable and then love yourself enough. Love yourself enough to
- 7:06Speaker 7: get over whatever you need to get over so you
- 7:09Speaker 7: can live your dreams. And I'm here to tell you today,
- 7:12Speaker 7: if you got somebody came to my office the other
- 7:14Speaker 7: day crying, I said, look, don't cry to give up.
- 7:17Speaker 7: Cry to keep going. Don't cry to quit. You already
- 7:22Speaker 7: in pain. You already hurt. Get a reward from it.
- 7:25Speaker 7: Don't go to sleep until you succeed. Listen to me.
- 7:29Speaker 7: Listen to me. You'll never be successful until I don't
- 7:31Speaker 7: have to give you a dime to do what you do.
- 7:35Speaker 1: All you have is all you need. Look yourself in
- 7:39Speaker 1: the mirror. And tell yourself, I got this. If I
- 7:46Speaker 1: have to do it alone, I will. No sunrise without
- 7:53Speaker 1: a sunset.
- 7:55Speaker 3: So that version of you, the one who shows up
- 7:58Speaker 3: when no one's watching, isn't a fluke. It's the truest part.
- 8:05Speaker 3: The one that isn't performing or proven. Or trying to
- 8:09Speaker 3: fit inside lines that were never drawn for you in
- 8:11Speaker 3: the first place. It doesn't need applause. It doesn't ask
- 8:16Speaker 3: for validation. It just creates. Because it has to. Because
- 8:24Speaker 3: something inside you knows that even if the world never
- 8:27Speaker 3: sees it, you will. And maybe that's enough. Maybe that's
- 8:32Speaker 3: the point. So when the nights are long and difficult,
- 8:37Speaker 3: don't run from it. Embrace the darkness. Embrace those urges
- 8:42Speaker 3: that keep you up at night and use them. Use
- 8:45Speaker 3: them to go farther than you thought possible. Use them
- 8:49Speaker 3: to work harder than you thought possible. Use them to
- 8:53Speaker 3: build your legacy. And in those quiet hours, when everyone
- 8:58Speaker 3: else is sleeping, you are becoming not who they expect,
- 9:03Speaker 3: but who you really are.
