- 0:22Speaker 1: Billy the Kid. Billy the Kid in the morning.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Monday, Monday, Monday, Monday. It definitely feels like a Monday today.
- 0:31Speaker 3: It's Mix 102.9. Good morning. Billy the Kid. Candace Lopez
- 0:35Speaker 3: is here. Producer Pooh is here.
- 0:36Speaker 4: I feel like everybody's just in a blah mood this
- 0:39Speaker 4: morning because I don't think I have to tell you why.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:41Speaker 3: I don't think I have to tell you why. I mean,
- 0:43Speaker 3: I know we'll talk about it coming up, but really, like...
- 0:46Speaker 3: How about them cowboys?
- 0:51Speaker 5: Amen.
- 0:51Speaker 3: What in the world is going on?
- 0:54Speaker 5: Yeah, we're definitely going to talk about it in Texas
- 0:55Speaker 5: Top Stories coming up next. But I'm glad I didn't
- 0:59Speaker 5: stay awake for too much of it. Because, yeah, I
- 1:02Speaker 5: checked my phone this morning at 2 a.m.
- 1:03Speaker 3: When I woke up.
- 1:05Speaker 5: I've been up since 2.
- 1:05Speaker 3: You have?
- 1:06Speaker 5: Yeah, so handle with care notice today, guys. Yeah, I
- 1:10Speaker 5: woke up and I was like, oh, it's cool. No biggie.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Yeah, no. It's 2.20, 2.30.
- 1:15Speaker 5: That's not good. 3 o'clock, 3.30.
- 1:17Speaker 3: Why couldn't you sleep?
- 1:18Speaker 5: I don't know. I just woke up in the middle
- 1:20Speaker 5: of the night chilling. I think I was just hot.
- 1:22Speaker 5: I think I'm just waking up really hot at night,
- 1:25Speaker 5: and then I'm done. I can't go back to sleep.
- 1:26Speaker 5: Now I've got to pee. Now I'm in my head
- 1:28Speaker 5: about 20 things.
- 1:30Speaker 3: Yep, yep, I know.
- 1:31Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Well, you know what, Candice? You're doing great, sweetie.
- 1:34Speaker 5: Yeah, thanks.
- 1:36Speaker 3: You're doing better than the Cowboys defense.
- 1:37Speaker 5: Yeah, that's true.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Okay, this is all I'm going to say.
- 1:41Speaker 4: I just got to get this off my chest, and
- 1:42Speaker 4: maybe it's just me. I just got to get it
- 1:45Speaker 4: off my chest right now. I hate when the Cowboys lose,
- 1:48Speaker 4: of course, anytime.
- 1:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:50Speaker 3: But I hate when the Cowboys lose, and then after
- 1:52Speaker 3: the game.
- 1:53Speaker 4: all the players are laughing and having a good time
- 1:55Speaker 4: with the other team.
- 1:57Speaker 5: Okay. I saw one of our players. I guess he's
- 1:59Speaker 5: a rookie. I can't think of his name.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 2:01Speaker 5: He made a penalty. It charged the line way too soon. Offsides,
- 2:05Speaker 5: whatever the penalty was. And I remember hearing the announcer
- 2:08Speaker 5: say like, it's okay. He's a rookie. Like he's got power.
- 2:11Speaker 5: Just give him time. And I thought this is the,
- 2:13Speaker 5: Season over. You had time, homie.
- 2:17Speaker 3: He had time in California.
- 2:19Speaker 5: But then he was laughing. He was laughing right after
- 2:21Speaker 5: the penalty, and I just thought, no, bro.
- 2:24Speaker 3: He was probably laughing, I think, because he thought it
- 2:26Speaker 3: was ridiculous and they were wrong.
- 2:28Speaker 5: No, they weren't, though. Well, they weren't.
- 2:29Speaker 3: No, of course they weren't.
- 2:30Speaker 6: No.
- 2:31Speaker 3: The problem is, I don't know why, I want to
- 2:33Speaker 3: see the Cowboys miserable when they lose.
- 2:35Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 4: I want to see them walking to the locker room,
- 2:38Speaker 4: Walk of shame, so angry, so mad at themselves. I
- 2:42Speaker 4: don't want to see them exchanging jerseys with the Giants,
- 2:45Speaker 4: having a great time, hugging.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, don't be good sportsmanship. No, no, I mean,
- 2:51Speaker 3: I want that.
- 2:51Speaker 5: To be fair, that sounds really like the World Cup
- 2:55Speaker 5: after those matches, and it was so beautiful to see
- 2:57Speaker 5: these guys hug. I'm just saying.
- 3:00Speaker 3: No, they were hugging.
- 3:01Speaker 4: They were like, you played a better game. And they
- 3:03Speaker 4: were congratulating them in the World Cup.
- 3:05Speaker 5: Wow. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:07Speaker 3: The Cowboys were like laughing. They just lost. And like, hey, man,
- 3:10Speaker 3: good to see you. And like, I'm thinking to myself,
- 3:14Speaker 3: I don't care how long you haven't seen this guy. Yeah.
- 3:17Speaker 3: Go to the locker room and be mad that you
- 3:19Speaker 3: played like trash. Yeah. Go to the locker room and
- 3:22Speaker 3: be upset. It's just a game, Billy. No, it's not. Anyway, so...
- 3:28Speaker 3: I hear you.
- 3:28Speaker 5: Do you feel better?
- 3:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I do. Thank you.
- 3:30Speaker 6: Okay.
- 3:31Speaker 5: I feel better listening to that.
- 3:32Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Producer Poo, what's up with you?
- 3:34Speaker 2: Oh, over the weekend, on Saturday, I took my 13-year-old
- 3:38Speaker 2: Paul to the Fan Expo downtown.
- 3:40Speaker 5: Oh, cool.
- 3:41Speaker 2: And it's kind of like a comic book convention slash... Like,
- 3:45Speaker 2: Mel Gibson was there.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Okay. And stuff like that.
- 3:48Speaker 2: But it was funny to me because I took his friend,
- 3:51Speaker 2: and he had never seen a CD before. And he
- 3:53Speaker 2: was like, my dad's always talking about... Tupac and stuff
- 3:57Speaker 2: like that. He said, hey, he said, hey, I bought
- 4:00Speaker 2: my dad this Tupac DVD. And I was like, no,
- 4:02Speaker 2: that's a CD. And he was like, because there was
- 4:05Speaker 2: a booth that had the old, old school CD set up.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Remember how they used to come in like these little
- 4:10Speaker 3: plastic things? I loved it. It was all nostalgia down there.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Oh, wow.
- 4:14Speaker 3: Wow.
- 4:15Speaker 5: That's fun.
- 4:16Speaker 3: I'm surprised he knew what a DVD was.
- 4:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:19Speaker 3: You don't know a CD. How do you even know
- 4:21Speaker 3: what a DVD is? Same era, right? Yeah, exactly. I mean, DVDs,
- 4:26Speaker 3: I guess, lasted a little bit longer than a CD. Yeah.
- 4:29Speaker 3: I don't know. People with CDs are coming back, though.
- 4:32Speaker 6: Right.
- 4:32Speaker 4: People are legit buying CD players so they can listen
- 4:36Speaker 4: to CDs.
- 4:37Speaker 3: Yeah. They have Blu-rays down there, too. I got news
- 4:39Speaker 3: for you. They suck. Kids, it's not cool. Vinyl, cool. Yeah.
- 4:46Speaker 3: Because vinyl sounds good.
- 4:48Speaker 5: It does.
- 4:48Speaker 3: CDs didn't sound good, and they skipped.
- 4:51Speaker 5: They sounded good to me.
- 4:52Speaker 3: No.
- 4:53Speaker 5: I didn't care about sound quality.
- 4:54Speaker 3: No.
- 4:55Speaker 5: Just give me the music.
- 4:56Speaker 3: I had a house speaker in the back of my car. Yeah, same.
- 4:59Speaker 3: In my trunk. My grandma's house speaker.
- 5:01Speaker 5: No way.
- 5:01Speaker 3: So you could hear me coming, Lopez.
- 5:03Speaker 5: Wow.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Circling townies. Boom.
- 5:05Speaker 6: Boom.
- 5:06Speaker 3: That whooping. Vibrating your car windows. Who is that hooligan?
- 5:10Speaker 5: Oh, that's Billy.
- 5:13Speaker 7: The new Mix 102.9.
- 5:14Speaker 8: It's Texas Top Stories on the 10s with Billy the
- 5:17Speaker 8: Kid in the morning.
- 5:18Speaker 6: Only on the new Mix 102.9.
- 5:21Speaker 4: We're giving away gas today. The gas gremlin is back.
- 5:23Speaker 3: We'll do it at 830. The jackpot right now is
- 5:26Speaker 3: at 300 bucks.
- 5:26Speaker 6: Nice.
- 5:27Speaker 3: So get some cash. Why not? On a Monday, that'll
- 5:30Speaker 3: cheer you up. Candace, what is going on?
- 5:31Speaker 5: Well, we're all feeling it this morning. Cowboys lost their
- 5:34Speaker 5: season opener last night to the Giants, 28-20. We touched
- 5:37Speaker 5: on it already, but when I went to bed at
- 5:39Speaker 5: some point in the second quarter, I saw flags for offsides,
- 5:42Speaker 5: unnecessary roughness, delay of game, the Giants scoring and doing backflips.
- 5:47Speaker 5: What the heck?
- 5:48Speaker 3: I will say this. I've never seen The Cowboys defense
- 5:52Speaker 3: looks so bad.
- 5:53Speaker 5: So sloppy.
- 5:54Speaker 3: In my entire life. When we were told the defense
- 5:56Speaker 3: is going to be so good this year. Revamped.
- 5:59Speaker 4: You have no idea. And I know it's only one game.
- 6:02Speaker 4: I know it's the first game, but it's still every
- 6:04Speaker 4: game counts when you're.
- 6:05Speaker 3: In the NFL.
- 6:06Speaker 6: Right.
- 6:07Speaker 3: And we suck.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:08Speaker 5: They had the most first half flags in a season
- 6:11Speaker 5: opener since 2008. We went nine and seven that season.
- 6:15Speaker 3: Oh, good.
- 6:17Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 6:18Speaker 5: You know, as a woman, I like I'm into sports.
- 6:20Speaker 5: You know, I love sports, but I don't know all
- 6:22Speaker 5: the ins and outs. I don't know stats and all
- 6:24Speaker 5: of the details like some of you guys do. So
- 6:26Speaker 5: I question myself when I feel some type of way
- 6:28Speaker 5: about a game or something. But I just was sitting
- 6:31Speaker 5: there on the couch like this is awful.
- 6:33Speaker 6: It was bad.
- 6:33Speaker 5: Get it together. You know what, though?
- 6:36Speaker 3: I wasn't even really mad.
- 6:37Speaker 4: I used to get so mad and it would ruin everything.
- 6:40Speaker 4: And now I'm just like, am I just used to this?
- 6:42Speaker 7: Yeah, you are.
- 6:42Speaker 3: Am I used to this feeling?
- 6:43Speaker 5: You gotta laugh like they did.
- 6:45Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 6:45Speaker 3: And the Giants aren't even good.
- 6:47Speaker 5: Well, that was my other question was, are they, you know,
- 6:49Speaker 5: a stand-up team?
- 6:50Speaker 3: No.
- 6:51Speaker 6: What?
- 6:51Speaker 3: They're predicted not even to make the playoffs. Well, same. Yeah. Well, no,
- 6:55Speaker 3: we were predicted. There's some people.
- 6:57Speaker 6: To win.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Of course.
- 6:58Speaker 5: Yeah, we were supposed to win that game.
- 6:59Speaker 3: I know we joke and we always say it's our year.
- 7:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:02Speaker 3: But really people had it. And I know, yes, there's
- 7:05Speaker 3: a whole season left.
- 7:06Speaker 7: Right.
- 7:07Speaker 4: But I don't want to lose a game to the Giants.
- 7:10Speaker 4: I don't want to lose to anybody but the Giants.
- 7:12Speaker 5: Right.
- 7:12Speaker 3: And that stupid quarterback dart, whatever.
- 7:14Speaker 6: No.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Okay. He's probably a great guy.
- 7:17Speaker 5: He's probably awesome.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 5: Cowboys, by the way, will host Washington for their home
- 7:20Speaker 5: opener Sunday at AT & T Stadium. Let's just pretend
- 7:23Speaker 5: last night never happened and restart. Okay, guys?
- 7:26Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 5: Here's some good news this morning, though. The cyclospora outbreak
- 7:30Speaker 5: is officially over. The CDC declared the outbreak linked to
- 7:34Speaker 5: lettuce as complete Friday. Friday, they said it was over. So, yeah,
- 7:39Speaker 5: we had 12,000 confirmed cases across 21 states since May.
- 7:43Speaker 5: Thousands more were reported in almost every state, but the
- 7:46Speaker 5: contaminated lettuce no longer available.
- 7:47Speaker 3: So we can eat lettuce again?
- 7:48Speaker 7: Yes.
- 7:49Speaker 5: It's not in stores. It's not in restaurants. You're good
- 7:51Speaker 5: to go.
- 7:52Speaker 3: I still won't, but good. Like you checked out of
- 7:54Speaker 3: the hotel.
- 7:56Speaker 5: This is done.
- 7:57Speaker 3: The Cowboys ate the rest of it.
- 8:01Speaker 5: Guys, Lady Gaga is a mom. She and her fiance,
- 8:04Speaker 5: Michael Polanski, have quietly welcomed their first child together. I
- 8:08Speaker 5: guess she was seen in Northern California carrying the baby
- 8:11Speaker 5: in a sling. She was baby wearing. There haven't been
- 8:14Speaker 5: any details released, so we don't know anything about.
- 8:17Speaker 3: Did you say she was baby wearing?
- 8:18Speaker 5: Yeah, baby wear.
- 8:19Speaker 3: Is that what you call it?
- 8:20Speaker 5: Yeah, she was wearing the baby, yeah.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Oh, like a fashion accessory? How do we know it's
- 8:23Speaker 3: not a fashion accessory?
- 8:24Speaker 5: Well, we honestly don't, but according to the pictures, she
- 8:28Speaker 5: did have a baby in the sling. Oh, good. We
- 8:30Speaker 5: don't know when the baby was born. We don't know
- 8:32Speaker 5: the name, the gender. There was never a pregnancy announcement either,
- 8:35Speaker 5: so we don't know a lot about this. I do
- 8:38Speaker 5: know that she talked multiple times about how much she
- 8:41Speaker 5: did want to be a mom. You know, she told
- 8:43Speaker 5: Colbert once she hopes, you know, being a mom is
- 8:46Speaker 5: her next starring role. So I hope that that's the case.
- 8:48Speaker 5: It sounds like it is.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Yeah. Was the baby bedazzled?
- 8:52Speaker 6: No. No.
- 8:53Speaker 3: Okay.
- 8:54Speaker 5: As far as I know, no.
- 8:55Speaker 4: I'm just envisioning it. I didn't see it. I just
- 8:57Speaker 4: pictured Lady Gaga. I'm sure she'll be an incredible mother.
- 9:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Because she's awesome.
- 9:02Speaker 4: But it's just weird to think of her as a baby,
- 9:05Speaker 4: holding a baby in a sling without like a fashion
- 9:07Speaker 4: accessory or, you know.
- 9:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:09Speaker 3: It's just good for her, though. That's awesome.
- 9:10Speaker 5: Yeah, looks totally normal. Yeah, so congrats to Lady Gaga.
- 9:12Speaker 5: I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas Top.
- 9:14Speaker 7: Stories on Air.
- 9:15Speaker 4: Mix 102.9. It's Billy the Kid, Candace Lopez, Producer Pooh,
- 9:19Speaker 4: Brighton Early on a Monday.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Let's give you some tickets. Jonas Brothers, they're going to
- 9:23Speaker 3: be here November. Who's this? This is Ashley. Ashley, what's up, Ashley?
- 9:27Speaker 3: How are you? Great, how are you? Hey, any way
- 9:29Speaker 3: you could play defense for the Cowboys? Oh, um, no.
- 9:34Speaker 5: Okay, all right.
- 9:35Speaker 7: I mean, it's always better.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Just asking. Hey, guess what? You're calling number one. Congratulations!
- 9:41Speaker 3: There you go. You got Jonas Brothers tickets.
- 9:44Speaker 5: It was awesome.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 9:45Speaker 3: You're welcome. Where are you from?
- 9:47Speaker 5: Crowley. Oh, cool.
- 9:48Speaker 3: How was your weekend?
- 9:50Speaker 1: It was actually really good.
- 9:51Speaker 7: We've been binge-watching the Camp Rock series.
- 9:55Speaker 5: Oh, nice.
- 9:56Speaker 3: That's fun. A little throwback. I like it. Yeah.
- 9:59Speaker 4: Okay, well, congratulations, Ashley. Thank you so much for listening.
- 10:02Speaker 4: We'll give you these tickets, and have a good time
- 10:03Speaker 4: at the show.
- 10:04Speaker 1: All right, cool. Thank you so much.
- 10:05Speaker 7: You're welcome.
- 10:06Speaker 6: Hold on.
- 10:06Speaker 3: I just can't get over the cowboys.
- 10:08Speaker 1: I know.
- 10:08Speaker 3: It's going to ruin my Monday.
- 10:10Speaker 5: I know. I'm snowballing. I'm getting more mad every second.
- 10:13Speaker 5: The more I keep marinating on it.
- 10:15Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 10:16Speaker 3: I'm marinating, too. Yeah. We're both marinating.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:19Speaker 4: All right, real or fake news? Here, I'm going to
- 10:21Speaker 4: try to cheer you up with this. Some ridiculous stories. Well,
- 10:23Speaker 4: at least a couple of ridiculous stories. I'm going to
- 10:25Speaker 4: give you three headlines. You're going to tell me which
- 10:27Speaker 4: one is the fake story out of the three. Real
- 10:30Speaker 4: or fake news? Headline number one, Florida will be voting
- 10:33Speaker 4: on a proposed law in November to make anyone under
- 10:37Speaker 4: five foot use a car seat.
- 10:39Speaker 6: What?
- 10:42Speaker 5: I'm taller than five feet. I know what you're all thinking.
- 10:44Speaker 6: Florida?
- 10:46Speaker 4: Florida will be voting on a proposed law in November
- 10:49Speaker 4: to make anyone under five foot use a car seat.
- 10:52Speaker 5: Oh, my gosh.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Regardless of age. You got to get in there, Lopez.
- 10:56Speaker 5: I'm over five feet. Barely.
- 10:59Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 11:00Speaker 8: I am.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Maybe laying down.
- 11:01Speaker 5: This is not like I'm not rounding up like poo.
- 11:05Speaker 6: Oh!
- 11:08Speaker 4: Who swears he's six foot? Every measuring device we've ever had.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Does not show him at six foot.
- 11:15Speaker 5: I don't know how tall Pooh is.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Headline number two.
- 11:18Speaker 5: You're good, Pooh.
- 11:19Speaker 3: A company has created a PSC. Okay. A pumpkin spice casket.
- 11:28Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 11:30Speaker 3: A company has created a PSC.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Okay.
- 11:34Speaker 3: A pumpkin spice casket.
- 11:36Speaker 6: Okay.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Headline number two.
- 11:39Speaker 8: Three.
- 11:40Speaker 3: I can't count.
- 11:41Speaker 6: Four.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Seven, a drug dealer issued loyalty cards to his customers.
- 11:51Speaker 4: A drug dealer issued loyalty cards to his customers.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Yep.
- 11:57Speaker 5: Oh, boy.
- 11:58Speaker 3: There are three headlines right there. And believe it or not,
- 12:01Speaker 3: two of them are real. One's fake.
- 12:03Speaker 4: You've got to tell me the fake story, Candace. You
- 12:04Speaker 4: want to go first? I know you're in a very
- 12:06Speaker 4: spicy mood.
- 12:07Speaker 3: I am.
- 12:07Speaker 5: This game is unhinged today.
- 12:08Speaker 6: It is.
- 12:09Speaker 3: It is unhinged.
- 12:10Speaker 5: Lock me in for that first story, the Florida car seats.
- 12:12Speaker 3: You don't think that's real?
- 12:13Speaker 6: No.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Okay. You're just mad that you'll have to get a
- 12:15Speaker 3: car seat.
- 12:17Speaker 5: I don't live in Florida, thankfully. All right.
- 12:19Speaker 3: Well, there you go.
- 12:19Speaker 4: You're locked in. You think headline number one is the
- 12:22Speaker 4: fake story. Producer Poo, which one do you think is
- 12:26Speaker 4: the fake story?
- 12:28Speaker 3: Lock me in for that pumpkin spice casket. Okay. Second story.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Let's lock that in. It is officially locked. Wait, it
- 12:38Speaker 3: didn't lock in. Is it not locking? It better lock.
- 12:40Speaker 5: Here, try this.
- 12:40Speaker 3: It's like the Cowboys defense not showing up.
- 12:42Speaker 5: They're not locked in for sure.
- 12:44Speaker 3: There it is.
- 12:45Speaker 5: Better get locked in before Sunday.
- 12:46Speaker 3: Okay, now it's locked in.
- 12:48Speaker 6: Okay.
- 12:48Speaker 1: All right.
- 12:49Speaker 3: The winner today is.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Candace. There you go, Candace. Congratulations.
- 13:04Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 13:05Speaker 4: Yeah, Florida does not have a proposed law to have
- 13:07Speaker 4: anyone under five foot.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Use a car seat. I was just trying to rage
- 13:11Speaker 3: bait you.
- 13:12Speaker 5: Yeah, you are at work.
- 13:12Speaker 3: I was trying to get you going on a Monday.
- 13:15Speaker 3: I'm already going.
- 13:16Speaker 5: Don't worry.
- 13:17Speaker 6: I know.
- 13:17Speaker 3: That's what I was saying. She's already in a mood.
- 13:20Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 13:20Speaker 3: So I should be careful what I ask for.
- 13:22Speaker 5: For sure. All right.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the fake story. Although people have mentioned that
- 13:26Speaker 3: law before.
- 13:27Speaker 5: Oh, yeah?
- 13:28Speaker 3: To have anyone under five foot use a car seat. Oh,
- 13:30Speaker 3: my gosh. No matter what age they are.
- 13:33Speaker 5: That's ridiculous.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Well, I mean, they say for safety reasons, you really should.
- 13:37Speaker 4: It's just a matter of size.
- 13:38Speaker 5: No, that makes sense. Size and weight, I guess.
- 13:41Speaker 3: So you would definitely be in a car seat.
- 13:43Speaker 5: No, I'm over five feet. I'm 5'2.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I don't know about that.
- 13:47Speaker 5: I am.
- 13:49Speaker 6: 5'2?
- 13:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:50Speaker 5: You're 5'2? Yes.
- 13:52Speaker 3: I think maybe 5'1.
- 13:53Speaker 5: And three quarters. So we round up to 5'2. All right.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Well, all right, poo.
- 13:59Speaker 6: All right.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Let's get into the real stories. A drug dealer issued
- 14:04Speaker 4: loyalty cards to his customers.
- 14:06Speaker 6: What?
- 14:06Speaker 3: Oh, gosh. It's a real story.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Yeah, a 27-year-old street pharmaceutical sales rep, we'll call him,
- 14:14Speaker 4: in Minnesota named Andy Salencia was dealing a plethora of
- 14:19Speaker 4: different drugs. and he had issued loyalty cards to valued
- 14:23Speaker 4: customers who purchased his product.
- 14:25Speaker 5: Okay.
- 14:26Speaker 4: It's unclear whether they were punch cards like coffee shops,
- 14:30Speaker 4: but he did have them, and he even had his
- 14:32Speaker 4: business name on them. He called himself Flower Daddy.
- 14:35Speaker 6: Okay.
- 14:37Speaker 3: I don't know exactly why Flower Daddy.
- 14:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Not sure, but it's unclear also how many clients participated
- 14:43Speaker 4: in this, but yeah, I guess if you had purchased
- 14:48Speaker 4: a certain amount from.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Him, you would get... something free, which is a marketing
- 14:54Speaker 3: customer service one-on-one.
- 14:55Speaker 5: For sure.
- 14:57Speaker 3: I hope it's a punch card. It would make sense
- 14:59Speaker 3: as we're doing some shady deal.
- 15:00Speaker 6: Right, yeah.
- 15:01Speaker 3: You know, in a 7-Eleven.
- 15:02Speaker 5: He has a special stamp or something.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Yeah, right, in a 7-Eleven parking lot. He's like, oh, yeah,
- 15:05Speaker 3: hold on. I forgot to punch you. Oh, your next visit.
- 15:09Speaker 3: You get something free. Yay. Yay me. Okay, the other story.
- 15:14Speaker 5: Oh, man.
- 15:16Speaker 3: I can't believe this is our life. This is our world.
- 15:19Speaker 5: What is it?
- 15:20Speaker 3: A pumpkin spice casket. I could not believe this. For
- 15:23Speaker 3: your loved ones. Get out.
- 15:25Speaker 4: This is only offered for a limited time. This company's
- 15:28Speaker 4: called Ideal Afterlife. Yeah, they're... No, I'm sorry. The company's
- 15:34Speaker 4: called Titan Casket.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Okay.
- 15:37Speaker 4: They've created a pumpkin spice themed casket for your loved ones.
- 15:41Speaker 4: The online ad says, now you can have pumpkin spice forever.
- 15:45Speaker 5: That's exactly what we want.
- 15:48Speaker 4: It says PSL season doesn't have to end. It can
- 15:52Speaker 4: just get started with our pumpkin spice casket.
- 15:56Speaker 5: Come on, guys.
- 15:57Speaker 4: No, the price, $ 1, 600.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Wow. All right. It has an orangish color on the
- 16:03Speaker 3: outside with a white interior. Yeah. You know what's funny
- 16:08Speaker 3: to me? It doesn't smell. Like pumpkin spice.
- 16:11Speaker 5: Well, what's the point?
- 16:13Speaker 3: That's what I don't get.
- 16:14Speaker 4: They say it's basically just the color of why they're
- 16:16Speaker 4: calling it pumpkin spice.
- 16:18Speaker 6: Oh.
- 16:18Speaker 5: Okay.
- 16:19Speaker 3: What's the point of putting Aunt Linda in a damn
- 16:23Speaker 3: PSL casket if it doesn't smell? At least when I'm
- 16:27Speaker 3: walking by saying my goodbyes, I could be like, oh,
- 16:30Speaker 3: thank you, Father. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Yeah, that is.
- 16:35Speaker 5: That is nice. I hate this. This is so stupid.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Candace, listen, I know you hate talking about death, but
- 16:43Speaker 4: I will come back and haunt you if you put
- 16:45Speaker 4: me in a PSC. A pumpkin spice casket?
- 16:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 16:49Speaker 4: That's something you would do to just mess with me
- 16:51Speaker 4: for eternity. She never punks anybody. I'm like all the
- 16:55Speaker 4: pranks over here. This is the one.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Time she would be like, you know what? I'm going
- 16:59Speaker 3: to send him off as a prank. I'm going to
- 17:00Speaker 3: put him in this. And he can't prank me back. Yeah,
- 17:04Speaker 3: that's right. But I will.
- 17:05Speaker 5: Oh, I don't doubt it at all.
- 17:06Speaker 3: I will.
- 17:07Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 17:07Speaker 3: And if you go first, I'll put you in one. Oh,
- 17:10Speaker 3: my gosh.
- 17:10Speaker 5: Get out of here.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Maybe with some cold foam.
- 17:12Speaker 5: Play commercials.
- 17:13Speaker 6: Ha!
- 17:16Speaker 3: I am an idiot.
- 17:18Speaker 7: Why?
- 17:19Speaker 4: It's Mix 102.9. Bailey the Kid, Candice Lopez, Producer Pooh.
- 17:22Speaker 4: I'm going to admit, something really dumb that I discovered
- 17:25Speaker 4: over the weekend. You ever figure out something later in
- 17:28Speaker 4: life that you thought your whole life was true or,
- 17:30Speaker 4: you know, whatever?
- 17:31Speaker 3: Yeah. And you're like, wait, what? Like, I'm way too
- 17:34Speaker 3: old to be discovering stuff.
- 17:36Speaker 5: No, you're not.
- 17:37Speaker 3: No, I mean, I am.
- 17:38Speaker 5: You always learn stuff.
- 17:39Speaker 3: Okay. And this is why I say this. I'm going
- 17:41Speaker 3: to ask you, too. Okay, what.
- 17:43Speaker 4: What fact are you embarrassed that you found out about
- 17:45Speaker 4: later in life?
- 17:46Speaker 3: It could be anything.
- 17:47Speaker 4: It could be something silly. You're like, I didn't know
- 17:49Speaker 4: that until today. And it's something that everyone's like, duh.
- 17:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:52Speaker 3: Because when I told other people that, this, what I'm
- 17:54Speaker 3: about to tell you, they were like, wait, you didn't
- 17:56Speaker 3: really know that? I'm like, no. So tell me. Call
- 17:58Speaker 3: me 833-787-1029.
- 18:00Speaker 4: Or you can also hit me up at Billy on
- 18:03Speaker 4: the radio on Instagram.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Shoot me a DM.
- 18:05Speaker 4: What embarrassing. What fact that you're just embarrassed you found
- 18:08Speaker 4: out later in life? I'm going to go ahead and start.
- 18:10Speaker 4: I did not know that. There's not coffee in coffee cake.
- 18:15Speaker 3: Oh.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Okay.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Okay. I thought no. And I know this is probably dumb.
- 18:21Speaker 5: I've never thought about it, but it's cake to go
- 18:22Speaker 5: with your coffee.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Okay. Well, I didn't know that. I thought there was
- 18:26Speaker 3: coffee in the cake.
- 18:28Speaker 4: And I was like, every time I have coffee cake,
- 18:29Speaker 4: it never tastes like coffee.
- 18:31Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. I never thought about that.
- 18:33Speaker 4: And I was at the store and I was like,
- 18:35Speaker 4: I'm going to, you know, cause now I'm like trying
- 18:36Speaker 4: to eat healthy and I read a lot of ingredients.
- 18:38Speaker 5: Yeah. Good.
- 18:39Speaker 4: And I'm like, Oh, this is a cool little, and
- 18:41Speaker 4: it had like a little sticker on it said, Oh,
- 18:42Speaker 4: you know, perfect coffee cake. And I was like, yeah, well,
- 18:44Speaker 4: let's see what's in it. I'm like cinnamon, all this stuff.
- 18:47Speaker 4: And I'm like, this has zero coffee in it.
- 18:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Why did, Oh, cause you, Okay.
- 18:53Speaker 5: Yeah. It's cake for your coffee.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Oh, Billy, you're special. You really are.
- 18:58Speaker 5: I've actually never thought about it, but they could put
- 19:00Speaker 5: coffee in the cake. It'd be perfect.
- 19:02Speaker 3: That's what I thought they did. So, I don't know. Candace,
- 19:05Speaker 3: do you have one?
- 19:05Speaker 5: Do you have something? Well, it's a little different than that,
- 19:07Speaker 5: but I will admit that I had to YouTube not
- 19:11Speaker 5: too long ago. Well, I guess it was in my 30s.
- 19:14Speaker 5: The best way to make a hard-boiled egg.
- 19:18Speaker 5: Well, because I had never done it before, and I
- 19:19Speaker 5: just thought, well, how long do you have to let
- 19:21Speaker 5: it boil? It's a little different.
- 19:23Speaker 3: That's fair. That's fair that you wanted to know how long.
- 19:28Speaker 7: Right.
- 19:28Speaker 3: But you knew how to.
- 19:30Speaker 5: Well, basically, yeah. I mean, I knew the egg was
- 19:32Speaker 5: going to go in boiling water, but, like, I didn't
- 19:34Speaker 5: know you were supposed to, how long to let it
- 19:36Speaker 5: go and then to put it in an ice bath
- 19:38Speaker 5: to stop it from cooking, which does the hard boiling, like.
- 19:41Speaker 3: Seals it all up. What do they call that when
- 19:42Speaker 3: you put it in the ice bath? Don't they call
- 19:44Speaker 3: it something?
- 19:45Speaker 5: Oh, I don't know. I just call it the ice bath.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Why did I think it was called Blanche?
- 19:48Speaker 5: No, there's probably a good name if you ask me.
- 19:50Speaker 5: Martha Stewart or someone, the pioneer woman or whoever.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Let me shoot her a text.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Oh, wow.
- 19:55Speaker 5: Let's see if she'll get back to you.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll see. I'm still waiting for the other response.
- 19:58Speaker 5: Pretty embarrassing.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Okay, that's not that bad. Okay.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Some are coming in on Instagram, by the way. Pooh,
- 20:03Speaker 4: do you have one? What fact are you embarrassed that
- 20:06Speaker 4: you found out later in life?
- 20:07Speaker 3: My cousin called me about out about this.
- 20:10Speaker 2: Years ago, but whenever you're on E in your car
- 20:14Speaker 2: or whatever, I used to always think, oh, I got
- 20:17Speaker 2: to turn off the AC or it's going to make
- 20:18Speaker 2: me run out of gas quicker.
- 20:20Speaker 3: And he was like, your AC has nothing to do
- 20:22Speaker 3: with that. I don't know if that's true.
- 20:23Speaker 5: I always thought it did, yeah.
- 20:26Speaker 3: I think it does.
- 20:27Speaker 5: Oh, I've been sweating in my car before because I'm like, oh, I.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Can't make it. I need a mechanic to call me
- 20:33Speaker 3: and tell me if that's true or not. He told
- 20:34Speaker 3: me it had nothing to do with it. I always
- 20:36Speaker 3: thought he's like... That don't have nothing to do with you.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Just get to the gas station. I was like, are
- 20:41Speaker 3: you sure?
- 20:41Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 20:42Speaker 3: I feel like that has something to do with it. Something.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Because it don't burn nothing.
- 20:45Speaker 5: Yeah, it does.
- 20:46Speaker 1: All right.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Well, you know what? We'll get a mechanic. That's what
- 20:48Speaker 3: he told me.
- 20:49Speaker 4: I also, when I was a kid, if we're talking
- 20:50Speaker 4: about back in the day stuff, I thought for years
- 20:52Speaker 4: that buffalo wings, I never wanted them because I was like, weird.
- 20:55Speaker 3: I'm not eating buffalo.
- 20:56Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 20:59Speaker 3: When I was a kid, I was like, I don't
- 21:02Speaker 3: want buffalo wings.
- 21:03Speaker 5: They're kind of small for a buffalo.
- 21:06Speaker 3: First of all, I didn't even know buffaloes had wings.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Right.
- 21:08Speaker 3: But I've never seen a buffalo in real life.
- 21:10Speaker 5: Yeah, buffalo wild wings.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Do they got little wings that I didn't know? Where
- 21:14Speaker 3: are they getting this meat from? Where are they getting
- 21:16Speaker 3: this meat from?
- 21:18Speaker 5: Okay.
- 21:19Speaker 4: We're getting some coming in on my Instagram, at Billy
- 21:21Speaker 4: on the radio. If you got one, call me too.
- 21:23Speaker 4: I'm going to get to these calls here soon.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Okay. Gina in Fort Worth said she didn't know that
- 21:28Speaker 3: pickles were cucumbers.
- 21:30Speaker 6: Oh. Okay.
- 21:33Speaker 3: What did you think they were, Gina? Do you think
- 21:35Speaker 3: they came from the pickle tree?
- 21:36Speaker 5: They were pickles.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Yeah, they were separate.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:39Speaker 3: I mean, that doesn't sound too crazy.
- 21:41Speaker 5: No.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Okay. What about this one?
- 21:44Speaker 4: Hi to Al in Plano who said, okay, I thought
- 21:47Speaker 4: all dogs lifted their legs to pee.
- 21:49Speaker 7: No.
- 21:50Speaker 3: Turns out only boy dogs do that.
- 21:52Speaker 6: Okay.
- 21:54Speaker 3: No, well, I had a girl dog who lifted her
- 21:57Speaker 3: leg to pee.
- 21:58Speaker 5: You did?
- 21:58Speaker 3: You did, yeah.
- 22:00Speaker 7: Huh.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe she was just masculine. I don't know.
- 22:03Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 22:04Speaker 3: I'll show these boys how to do it.
- 22:06Speaker 5: However you prefer. I mean, you guys can also sit
- 22:08Speaker 5: to pee if you want.
- 22:09Speaker 3: We can.
- 22:10Speaker 5: Just what do you want? What do you want to do?
- 22:12Speaker 3: Pooh sits to pee. No, I do not. And there's
- 22:15Speaker 3: nothing wrong with that.
- 22:17Speaker 5: No, do you?
- 22:19Speaker 3: Okay. Oh, here's another popular one. And I actually get this.
- 22:23Speaker 3: So hi to, oh, Bethany said, I just learned recently
- 22:27Speaker 3: that ponies are not baby horses.
- 22:30Speaker 5: Yeah. I don't think most people know that.
- 22:34Speaker 3: I grew up a city boy. To me, that could
- 22:37Speaker 3: easily still be the case. Yeah. What are they?
- 22:40Speaker 1: Right.
- 22:40Speaker 5: They're little ponies.
- 22:42Speaker 3: What's a pony?
- 22:42Speaker 5: Horses.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Oh, it's just a little horse?
- 22:45Speaker 5: I always thought so, yeah.
- 22:46Speaker 3: It's in the horse family. It's got to be. Well,
- 22:48Speaker 3: I mean, yeah.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:50Speaker 3: But you sure they're not baby horses? I don't even
- 22:52Speaker 3: know if I've ever seen a baby horse.
- 22:54Speaker 5: I've seen a baby horse.
- 22:55Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I've seen one. Does it look like a pony?
- 22:57Speaker 5: Well, kind of, yeah.
- 23:00Speaker 6: All right.
- 23:01Speaker 3: Remember you thought.
- 23:02Speaker 5: More frail looking.
- 23:03Speaker 3: You didn't know cows swam? No, I did not. Okay.
- 23:06Speaker 4: Who's going to make fun of me for that forever?
- 23:09Speaker 4: Because I pulled over one time. I was going to
- 23:10Speaker 4: try to save a cow.
- 23:12Speaker 5: You thought he was drowning.
- 23:13Speaker 3: I thought he was drowning.
- 23:14Speaker 5: That's crazy.
- 23:15Speaker 3: What do you mean that's crazy?
- 23:17Speaker 5: Well, it's crazy for us to process here. Do they
- 23:18Speaker 5: look like they can swim? Well, they look like they're
- 23:20Speaker 5: just digging a dip.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Does a cow look like it?
- 23:22Speaker 5: They're waiting in the shallow end.
- 23:23Speaker 3: It's the most unathletic looking thing besides poo. Whatever. You
- 23:30Speaker 3: thought that a cow could swim?
- 23:32Speaker 5: I just never thought about it.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Well, this one was hauling. Yeah. They got wings, too?
- 23:40Speaker 3: I didn't know.
- 23:41Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 23:41Speaker 3: I was like, what are we going to do? Save it?
- 23:44Speaker 5: No.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Well, I also thought crop dusters were planes that were crashing.
- 23:48Speaker 5: Oh.
- 23:48Speaker 3: I was like, oh, man, so many planes are going
- 23:50Speaker 3: down in that field.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Oh.
- 23:51Speaker 6: What? Okay.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Okay, I'm stupid. All right, fine. Does that make you happy?
- 24:00Speaker 6: No.
- 24:00Speaker 4: I also got to say, I had a Becca who
- 24:02Speaker 4: said she didn't know until she was grown that school
- 24:04Speaker 4: buses have reverse.
- 24:07Speaker 6: Oh.
- 24:09Speaker 4: But she goes, I don't, for whatever reason, I thought
- 24:11Speaker 4: they just couldn't go in reverse.
- 24:13Speaker 7: Why?
- 24:14Speaker 4: And one day I saw it and I was freaking out.
- 24:15Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, my God, they do have the reverse.
- 24:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Why would?
- 24:20Speaker 2: I mean, if you think about it, I ain't never
- 24:22Speaker 2: seen it school bus back up. They always go in
- 24:24Speaker 2: one direction.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, that's true. I guess I've never really seen
- 24:27Speaker 3: it either. It doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
- 24:28Speaker 5: Right.
- 24:29Speaker 3: I've also never seen poo work, but they say it happens.
- 24:32Speaker 6: Oh.
- 24:32Speaker 4: Okay, I just found out that just the other day
- 24:35Speaker 4: that pineapples do not grow on trees.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Somebody said. All right, there you go. What do they grow? Oh,
- 24:41Speaker 3: they grow from the ground?
- 24:42Speaker 5: Yeah, I think so.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Okay.
- 24:44Speaker 5: Don't they eventually get up there? I'm not thinking of coconuts.
- 24:46Speaker 3: No, that's coconuts. Coconuts are uptown. Nobody's trying to shake
- 24:50Speaker 3: a pineapple tree.
- 24:51Speaker 5: Yeah, that's true.
- 24:52Speaker 3: It sounds painful if they start falling out.
- 24:57Speaker 5: 833-787-1029.
- 24:57Speaker 3: What fact are you embarrassed that you just found out
- 25:00Speaker 3: about later in life? I can't believe he doesn't have
- 25:04Speaker 3: any coffee in it. No coffee in a coffee cake?
- 25:06Speaker 3: That's wild.
- 25:07Speaker 7: That's stupid.
- 25:08Speaker 6: 102.9.
- 25:08Speaker 7: The new Mix 102.9.
- 25:11Speaker 8: Texas top stories on the 10s with Billy the Kid
- 25:14Speaker 8: in the morning.
- 25:15Speaker 6: Only on the new Mix 102.9.
- 25:17Speaker 7: We got the gas, Gremlin.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Free gas. $ 300 the jackpot is up to. Shot to
- 25:22Speaker 3: win that.
- 25:22Speaker 4: $ 830. So make sure you listen. We're just trying to
- 25:25Speaker 4: cheer you up on a Monday after a Cowboys loss.
- 25:27Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Okay. Let's not talk about that right now. Candace, what
- 25:31Speaker 3: is going on?
- 25:31Speaker 5: Well, triple digits are hanging around today. Nothing new. We
- 25:34Speaker 5: are under a heat advisory. The heat index could get
- 25:36Speaker 5: up to 107 today. Come on. This is just insane
- 25:40Speaker 5: that we're having the hottest September ever.
- 25:41Speaker 3: It's stupid.
- 25:42Speaker 5: It is very stupid.
- 25:43Speaker 3: I want hoodie weather so bad.
- 25:45Speaker 5: I know. Me too. It's got to come soon. Guys,
- 25:48Speaker 5: I don't know if this helps, but France actually having
- 25:50Speaker 5: their hottest summer ever too. So much that they're having
- 25:52Speaker 5: to make an exception this year and let the champagne
- 25:55Speaker 5: just be boozier. Oh, of course.
- 25:57Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 25:57Speaker 5: So because they've had record temps and drought, they've had
- 26:00Speaker 5: to harvest the crop earlier than ever. So, you know,
- 26:03Speaker 5: that means that they've had, you know, the fruit's been
- 26:05Speaker 5: more sugary and more alcoholy.
- 26:07Speaker 3: Is that how that works?
- 26:08Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the scientific way of putting it. More alcoholy.
- 26:11Speaker 3: More alcoholy. Did you prove that? Did you scientifically research
- 26:14Speaker 3: that yourself?
- 26:15Speaker 5: I did. Yeah. From 13 percent to 15 percent. So
- 26:19Speaker 5: there you go, France. It's hot there, too.
- 26:21Speaker 3: I genuinely know that, though.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:23Speaker 3: I mean, I guess it does make sense, but I
- 26:24Speaker 3: don't know anything about wine or champagne.
- 26:26Speaker 5: No, same. It should make you feel better. People are
- 26:28Speaker 5: hot all over the world.
- 26:29Speaker 3: I know I will drink some right now.
- 26:30Speaker 6: Right?
- 26:31Speaker 3: For Monday, just, I feel like I need an emotional
- 26:33Speaker 3: support champagne, by the way.
- 26:35Speaker 6: Right now.
- 26:36Speaker 5: We can probably make that happen. Okay, thank you. Guys,
- 26:38Speaker 5: the lefties are coming after Apple. So, you know they
- 26:41Speaker 5: announced the foldable iPhone last week, the iPhone Duo? Well,
- 26:45Speaker 5: the reviews are coming in now, and online reviewers are
- 26:47Speaker 5: saying the phone discriminates against Apple. Left handers because it's
- 26:51Speaker 5: so awkward to hold and use. Billy, you're a lefty.
- 26:53Speaker 3: I am a lefty.
- 26:54Speaker 4: And we get discriminated all the time. Nobody ever thinks
- 26:57Speaker 4: about us.
- 26:57Speaker 5: That's what I hear.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Yeah. Like, think about it.
- 26:59Speaker 4: You know how much I've been I've smudged my all
- 27:02Speaker 4: my writings and stuff and drawings over the years. And
- 27:06Speaker 4: I have to deal with, you know, you smudge everything.
- 27:08Speaker 4: And then you also have to deal with the like
- 27:09Speaker 4: the binder because I write everything down.
- 27:11Speaker 3: Right. So the binders, where's it at?
- 27:14Speaker 1: Right.
- 27:14Speaker 3: It's on the left. No. It's on the left. Yeah,
- 27:16Speaker 3: so your hand goes over it, and you can't write
- 27:18Speaker 3: because there's a big binder.
- 27:19Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Okay, I see what you mean. I can never write
- 27:21Speaker 3: in a Trapper Keeper. I've been held down my entire life.
- 27:24Speaker 5: Oh, spirals suck for you.
- 27:26Speaker 3: Yeah, being left-handed is a struggle, Candace.
- 27:28Speaker 5: Never thought about that. Well, it is possible Apple, you know,
- 27:31Speaker 5: could have a left-handed mode, but because of where the
- 27:34Speaker 5: ID button, the Touch ID button is, and the display cameras,
- 27:37Speaker 5: they would have to basically manufacture a version for lefties,
- 27:40Speaker 5: so I don't think that's going to happen.
- 27:41Speaker 3: You know what's weird, though? I'm a right-handed texter.
- 27:44Speaker 6: Oh.
- 27:44Speaker 3: I write left-handed, but I like to type, like, text
- 27:47Speaker 3: with my right hand more. Okay. Is that weird?
- 27:51Speaker 5: Well, then you can use a phone.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Okay, good.
- 27:52Speaker 5: It'll work for you. Can't wait. Real quick, guys. The
- 27:55Speaker 5: 78th Emmy Awards happen tonight on NBC. Mariska Hargitay will host.
- 28:00Speaker 5: I'm hearing Jalen Brunson from the Knicks is also doing
- 28:03Speaker 5: a pre-taped segment with her. I don't know if they're
- 28:05Speaker 5: actually friends or friendly.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Yeah, they're real friends, I guess, in real life.
- 28:09Speaker 5: Yeah, Dolly Parton will be honored by Reba McEntire and
- 28:12Speaker 5: introduced by Sally Fields, of course, who co-starred with Dolly
- 28:15Speaker 5: in Steel Magnolias. And then the In Memoriam segment will
- 28:18Speaker 5: feature Noah Kahn. But there's some really cool moments, too.
- 28:21Speaker 5: A Buffy the Vampire Slayer 30th anniversary tribute. That's got
- 28:25Speaker 5: Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz. And then a tribute
- 28:28Speaker 5: to the 50th anniversary of Charlie's Angels.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Oh, that's cool.
- 28:32Speaker 5: Yeah, so it should be a good show tonight. Presenters
- 28:34Speaker 5: include Zendaya, A.B. Poehler, Matt McConaughey, Macaulay Culkin. Pooh, watch
- 28:39Speaker 5: for Sofia Vergara.
- 28:40Speaker 3: You know what's funny?
- 28:41Speaker 4: I think I'd rather watch the Cowboys lose again than
- 28:43Speaker 4: the Emmys.
- 28:45Speaker 5: Well, if you do want football, Monday Night Football is
- 28:47Speaker 5: the Chiefs and the Broncos.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Oh, that's right.
- 28:50Speaker 5: That's what's on TV tonight.
- 28:52Speaker 3: All right, good.
- 28:52Speaker 5: All right, I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas Top Stories.
- 28:55Speaker 3: 102.9.
- 28:55Speaker 7: The new Mix 102.9.
- 29:00Speaker 5: It's Dirty Little Secret with Billy the Kid in the
- 29:02Speaker 5: Morning on Mix 102.9.
- 29:03Speaker 7: Brought to you by.
- 29:05Speaker 6: by Mint Dentistry.
- 29:30Speaker 3: So go ahead, Poo, when you're ready. Go ahead.
- 29:33Speaker 2: All right, Mix 102.9, great Gremlin gas.
- 29:35Speaker 3: And that's a wrap. That would have been an all.
- 29:40Speaker 3: That's a loss. Sorry. All right.
- 29:42Speaker 5: All right.
- 29:43Speaker 3: If you get a secret, 833-787-1029, whatever your secret may be,
- 29:45Speaker 3: and you got one.
- 29:49Speaker 1: I do have a secret. I have a secret about
- 29:51Speaker 1: my ex-wife that absolutely no one and nobody in my
- 29:55Speaker 1: life knows about, especially my current wife.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Oh, okay. So you're remarried and you got a secret
- 30:01Speaker 3: about your ex-wife. Bring it on. What's going on? Yes, sir.
- 30:05Speaker 1: I don't want to say exactly what I do, but
- 30:08Speaker 1: I'm an entrepreneur and I'm involved with several different companies.
- 30:12Speaker 1: I've been very fortunate in my current recent life and
- 30:16Speaker 1: I've done really well for myself over the years.
- 30:18Speaker 5: Oh, good.
- 30:19Speaker 1: But my life wasn't always like this. So my ex-wife
- 30:24Speaker 1: and I were married for more than 10 years, and
- 30:28Speaker 1: she was with me during probably the lowest and darkest
- 30:32Speaker 1: period of my life. And honestly, she deserves way better
- 30:36Speaker 1: than me.
- 30:38Speaker 3: So you turned your life around, but what was going
- 30:42Speaker 3: on back then?
- 30:42Speaker 1: Well, honestly, I cheated on her a bunch. I partied constantly.
- 30:47Speaker 1: I lived this stupid lifestyle where I thought I was invincible.
- 30:51Speaker 1: And I put that poor woman through so much hell,
- 30:56Speaker 1: absolute hell. And since then, I had a health scare.
- 31:00Speaker 1: I got myself together. I got better. And I stopped
- 31:03Speaker 1: drinking and all that good stuff. Eventually, she divorced me.
- 31:07Speaker 1: you know, when I was a mess and I.
- 31:08Speaker 3: Don't blame her for it. So, so we're not, we.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Were obviously not together anymore.
- 31:11Speaker 3: And I have a new wife.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Ironically, uh, like losing her was probably like what finally.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Woke me up.
- 31:18Speaker 1: I went to rehab. I got sober. Like I said,
- 31:20Speaker 1: it got my life together and eventually became like really successful.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Finally.
- 31:23Speaker 5: Um, you know, like, Yeah.
- 31:25Speaker 1: I tried for a couple of years to like get
- 31:27Speaker 1: her back and win her back, but like just way
- 31:30Speaker 1: too much history and damage that I did.
- 31:33Speaker 7: So it didn't happen.
- 31:34Speaker 4: Well, first of all, congrats on getting your life together
- 31:36Speaker 4: and sober. Cause that's, that should be celebrated.
- 31:38Speaker 3: That's tough.
- 31:39Speaker 4: I'm not saying you were the best person back in
- 31:41Speaker 4: the day, but that's a. That's a big deal. So
- 31:43Speaker 4: you move on.
- 31:44Speaker 7: Anyway, I moved on.
- 31:46Speaker 1: I remarried now. And I love my wife dearly. I
- 31:49Speaker 1: don't know how to explain this without sounding shady, though.
- 31:52Speaker 1: There's something just different about the first true love.
- 31:56Speaker 3: That you have.
- 31:56Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 31:59Speaker 1: My ex will always be special to me and near
- 32:02Speaker 1: and dear to my heart because, you know, she loved
- 32:04Speaker 1: me when I was probably at the most lowest point
- 32:07Speaker 1: and kind of unlovable.
- 32:09Speaker 3: So, yeah.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Here's my secret, though. A couple years ago, through mutual friends,
- 32:14Speaker 1: I found out she had started a small business and
- 32:17Speaker 1: she wasn't doing well. It was actually struggling, her business.
- 32:20Speaker 1: But I realized several companies that I'm involved with, that
- 32:23Speaker 1: I work with now, could actually use what she provides
- 32:27Speaker 1: in her business.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Okay.
- 32:28Speaker 1: So I quietly, yeah, I quietly started directing all my
- 32:32Speaker 1: business her way. And she has no idea it's me.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Oh, wow. You find out what she does. You find
- 32:40Speaker 3: out what she does. You know, you could use. So
- 32:42Speaker 3: you tell all the companies you're involved with, hey, use
- 32:45Speaker 3: her for whatever she does.
- 32:47Speaker 5: So everybody wins.
- 32:48Speaker 3: So everybody wins. But she doesn't know that. She doesn't
- 32:51Speaker 3: know that this is happening.
- 32:52Speaker 1: She has no idea it's from me, and she has
- 32:54Speaker 1: no idea. And without sounding arrogant, I know the numbers.
- 32:58Speaker 1: I know kind of like how much I'm making her.
- 33:01Speaker 1: If my companies weren't using her business, there's almost no
- 33:05Speaker 1: chance in hell that she would still be open today.
- 33:08Speaker 1: And I'm not saying this for a pat on the back.
- 33:10Speaker 1: I'm basically secretly keeping my ex-wife's company alive. But I
- 33:13Speaker 1: don't look at it like I'm some sort of superhero. Honestly,
- 33:16Speaker 1: I look at it as this is the least I
- 33:18Speaker 1: could do for all the hell that I put her through.
- 33:20Speaker 3: Wow. Now, let me ask you this. I think it's
- 33:23Speaker 3: really cool that you're doing that.
- 33:24Speaker 5: Yeah. You're like a little silent angel.
- 33:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 33:27Speaker 3: You say nobody knows this. Does your current wife know this?
- 33:31Speaker 1: My current wife does not know anything about this. And
- 33:34Speaker 1: there's definitely no way that I could tell my current wife.
- 33:37Speaker 1: There's nothing romantic about it. Nothing happening like that. I
- 33:40Speaker 1: don't talk to my ex.
- 33:41Speaker 3: Okay.
- 33:41Speaker 1: I'm not trying to get back with her. I don't
- 33:43Speaker 1: even want anything from her. I just feel like maybe
- 33:46Speaker 1: this is my way of finally, finally paying back a
- 33:49Speaker 1: debt that I've carried around for many, many years now.
- 33:52Speaker 3: I think it's very noble of you to do.
- 33:54Speaker 6: Yeah, it is.
- 33:55Speaker 3: I don't think it's anything shady. I mean, will it
- 33:57Speaker 3: look like that if your current wife finds out? Oh, yeah.
- 34:00Speaker 3: She'll be mad.
- 34:01Speaker 4: Like, how would you feel, Candace, if you found out that,
- 34:04Speaker 4: you know, like your husband is supporting an ex-wife's business?
- 34:07Speaker 5: Yeah, it'd be interesting, especially because he doesn't have contact
- 34:10Speaker 5: with her. She has no idea. So that tells me
- 34:13Speaker 5: it really is coming from a good place.
- 34:15Speaker 4: And I think, honestly, you could probably tell your wife
- 34:17Speaker 4: this and explain the situation. And I think she would understand.
- 34:22Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:22Speaker 3: I mean, I wouldn't, but no, I'm just kidding. I'm
- 34:24Speaker 3: not going to tell her.
- 34:25Speaker 5: You're not communicating with her. The business dealings aren't coming
- 34:28Speaker 5: from you to her directly.
- 34:29Speaker 3: Yeah, good for you. I think you're selling a nice guy.
- 34:32Speaker 1: Well, thank you. That's what I strive to be. I mean,
- 34:35Speaker 1: I wasn't always, so, you know, this is a good
- 34:38Speaker 1: way of getting it back.
- 34:39Speaker 3: You know?
- 34:39Speaker 4: Well, good for you, and congrats, more importantly, on being sober,
- 34:44Speaker 4: and I hope that you continue that lifestyle and at
- 34:47Speaker 4: least you have a conscience that you understand you did
- 34:49Speaker 4: somebody wrong and you'd like to repay that debt.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel terrible. And I'm never going back to
- 34:54Speaker 1: that lifestyle.
- 34:55Speaker 3: No way.
- 34:56Speaker 6: Good.
- 34:56Speaker 3: All right. Well, we appreciate your dirty little secret. Something
- 34:59Speaker 3: that he said just stands out to me, though.
- 35:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 35:03Speaker 3: The first love, your first love is different.
- 35:07Speaker 5: Uh-oh.
- 35:07Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Like, if you hear that
- 35:09Speaker 3: and you're his current wife.
- 35:10Speaker 5: And they're still connected in this way that she doesn't
- 35:12Speaker 5: know about.
- 35:13Speaker 4: You're like, there's something about your first love that's just
- 35:16Speaker 4: different than any other love.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Yeah. Is that true?
- 35:20Speaker 1: Ew.
- 35:20Speaker 5: Depends.
- 35:21Speaker 3: Is it good or bad? There you go.
- 35:23Speaker 7: The new Mix 102.9.
- 35:28Speaker 8: It's time for Candace Court. It gets settled here with
- 35:32Speaker 8: Billy the Kid.
- 35:33Speaker 6: In the morning.
- 35:34Speaker 4: All rise for the Honorable Judge Candace Lopez, who is
- 35:37Speaker 4: a little bit moody today.
- 35:38Speaker 3: I'm not saying that.
- 35:39Speaker 6: No, I am.
- 35:40Speaker 3: She said that.
- 35:42Speaker 2: I would never say disclaimer such a thing.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Well, you know, it's a Monday. The Cowboys lost, and
- 35:49Speaker 3: it was like an ugly loss to an ugly team.
- 35:51Speaker 5: Yep.
- 35:52Speaker 3: So it's a tough morning.
- 35:53Speaker 5: Just slop.
- 35:54Speaker 3: For a lot of us, slop is the perfect word
- 35:56Speaker 3: for it. All the slop.
- 35:57Speaker 4: Just sloppy. Sloppy mess. And Monday, though, you still have
- 36:01Speaker 4: to deliver some justice. So here we go.
- 36:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:03Speaker 3: With Candice Court on Mix 102.9. If you got something
- 36:05Speaker 3: for Candice, at Candice on air. At Candice on air
- 36:08Speaker 3: on Instagram.
- 36:09Speaker 4: So my boyfriend and I are moving next month, so
- 36:11Speaker 4: I've been putting a lot of our stuff up on
- 36:13Speaker 4: Facebook Marketplace. A few days ago, I listed a floor mirror,
- 36:17Speaker 4: and it sold. It's pretty heavy, so before the buyer
- 36:20Speaker 4: came over today, I messaged her and let her know
- 36:23Speaker 4: she'd need a car with enough space and that bringing
- 36:25Speaker 4: a blanket would probably be a good idea. She said
- 36:28Speaker 4: that was fine, and when she got to my house,
- 36:30Speaker 4: she was in a small sedan. I carried the mirror
- 36:34Speaker 4: down to the driveway, and no offense to her whatsoever,
- 36:38Speaker 4: But it was pretty clear it wasn't going to fit easily.
- 36:42Speaker 3: But she said she could make it work. She handed
- 36:45Speaker 3: me the cash for it and I laid it across
- 36:47Speaker 3: her back seats. She drove off and about an hour
- 36:51Speaker 3: later she messaged me saying it broke on her way home.
- 36:55Speaker 3: And that since I helped load it in her car,
- 36:58Speaker 3: she wanted a refund. I told her I wasn't going
- 37:03Speaker 3: to give her a refund and now she is threatening
- 37:06Speaker 3: to leave me. me one star rating, which would affect
- 37:09Speaker 3: my ability to sell again on Facebook marketplace. My boyfriend
- 37:14Speaker 3: said it's not that serious, but I think it is.
- 37:17Speaker 3: Am I wrong for not wanting to give her a refund? Okay.
- 37:21Speaker 3: So I don't know why I thought this was a guy. So, okay.
- 37:24Speaker 4: So this is a girl who wrote in and she
- 37:26Speaker 4: sold this mirror to someone who, you know, couldn't carry
- 37:31Speaker 4: it herself for whatever reason.
- 37:33Speaker 5: Okay.
- 37:33Speaker 3: And it's a big mirror. props to her for not,
- 37:37Speaker 3: you know, being able to do it.
- 37:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:39Speaker 4: So she gets it down the stairs. She loads in
- 37:41Speaker 4: the backseat and now the girl's mad and like, well,
- 37:43Speaker 4: you loaded it and it broke.
- 37:46Speaker 5: Yeah. But you drove it.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you know, would you give a refund?
- 37:51Speaker 5: No, this is.
- 37:53Speaker 3: Also why I wouldn't load it.
- 37:54Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure. I mean, this is why I don't
- 37:58Speaker 5: sell on marketplace. Cause the whole thing just gives me
- 38:00Speaker 5: anxiety where we meet and where we park and who's
- 38:02Speaker 5: touching the thing. Who's loading it.
- 38:04Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 38:06Speaker 5: I feel so bad for her, though, because if she
- 38:08Speaker 5: doesn't give the refund and then it could affect her
- 38:10Speaker 5: sales and then she's not making anything because, you know,
- 38:13Speaker 5: people don't want to buy from her.
- 38:14Speaker 3: Well, when you sell something on Facebook Marketplace, you have no–
- 38:20Speaker 3: it should really be– you have no obligation to help
- 38:23Speaker 3: load anything.
- 38:24Speaker 1: No.
- 38:25Speaker 5: I wouldn't think unless– It's just a nice thing to do.
- 38:27Speaker 4: Yeah, like that's the problem is you're just being nice,
- 38:30Speaker 4: and I get it. But at the same time, if
- 38:32Speaker 4: you load it and you load it your way– Then
- 38:36Speaker 4: is it your fault?
- 38:37Speaker 5: But you let me load it my way.
- 38:39Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm helping you out. Once you leave by driveway, bye. Yeah. No,
- 38:44Speaker 3: I agree.
- 38:45Speaker 5: Once it's in your car?
- 38:46Speaker 2: Yeah, once you're down the road, and plus it took
- 38:48Speaker 2: you an hour, how do I know you didn't go
- 38:50Speaker 2: over some speed bumps or something else and break it
- 38:52Speaker 2: along in transit?
- 38:53Speaker 3: There's a lot of what-ifs. Yeah.
- 38:55Speaker 4: There's a lot of what-ifs, but I feel like once you... Like,
- 38:58Speaker 4: for example, if you go to, I don't know, Nebraska Furniture,
- 39:02Speaker 4: let's just say, right?
- 39:04Speaker 3: If they... They load your stuff into your truck for you.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Yes.
- 39:07Speaker 4: And I want to say, if it breaks on your
- 39:10Speaker 4: ride home, they say bring it back and we'll give
- 39:13Speaker 4: you a new one because we loaded it.
- 39:14Speaker 5: Wow. But they're also a giant store with so much product.
- 39:17Speaker 5: You know, I'm just a person on Marketplace trying to
- 39:19Speaker 5: move with my boyfriend.
- 39:21Speaker 4: Well, maybe you have them sign a disclaimer saying, after this,
- 39:25Speaker 4: it's not my responsibility whether it breaks or not.
- 39:29Speaker 5: I'm just saying she does have a point but like
- 39:31Speaker 5: think about this remember that time you were moving and
- 39:33Speaker 5: poo calls me on a sunday and is like lo
- 39:36Speaker 5: i need your help and so i i'm like what's
- 39:38Speaker 5: up i run downtown yeah you remember.
- 39:40Speaker 3: The time you remember the time no this is the
- 39:43Speaker 3: time that I paid Pooh to help move me.
- 39:47Speaker 5: I wasn't going to bring that up.
- 39:48Speaker 3: Oh, I will. No, Billy will. And then he asked
- 39:51Speaker 3: Candace to help him and doesn't pay Candace.
- 39:54Speaker 5: Right, but you guys put that giant, it was like
- 39:57Speaker 5: a glass coffee table. The top of your coffee table
- 40:00Speaker 5: is a huge piece of glass in my convertible sticking
- 40:02Speaker 5: out the roof.
- 40:04Speaker 3: And I drove from.
- 40:06Speaker 5: Downtown Dallas to Frisco with it. What if I had
- 40:09Speaker 5: broken it? Would that have been my fault?
- 40:10Speaker 3: No, it would have been Pooh's fault.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Oh!
- 40:13Speaker 3: It would have 100% been Pooh's fault. Yeah, I forgot.
- 40:16Speaker 4: Because, first of all, he should have got a truck
- 40:18Speaker 4: and done it the right way, which I thought he
- 40:20Speaker 4: was going to do.
- 40:21Speaker 2: I had a truck, but that piece, I didn't want
- 40:23Speaker 2: to put. I didn't trust everything else in that bob tail.
- 40:26Speaker 4: What a weird thing to do is to call Candace,
- 40:28Speaker 4: who is home. This is decades ago.
- 40:30Speaker 5: Yeah, decades.
- 40:32Speaker 4: But it's so funny that you called Candace, got her
- 40:34Speaker 4: out of her house, and she's so nice. She comes
- 40:37Speaker 4: all the way downtown Dallas to help you load my
- 40:40Speaker 4: glass coffee table that you're getting paid to move.
- 40:43Speaker 3: She's a soldier for that one, dude. Yeah, and he goes,
- 40:46Speaker 3: I feel so bad.
- 40:47Speaker 5: And I held on to it with one hand. I
- 40:49Speaker 5: drove with one hand on the wheel and one hand
- 40:51Speaker 5: on the glass.
- 40:52Speaker 3: All the way to Frisco.
- 40:55Speaker 5: But if it had broken, I mean, that kind of
- 40:57Speaker 5: would have been my fault, right?
- 40:59Speaker 3: No, usually if Pooh's involved, it's his fault. Yeah, that
- 41:02Speaker 3: would have been my fault. I was wrong for that.
- 41:04Speaker 5: That's true. But Pooh wasn't in this Facebook marketplace transaction.
- 41:07Speaker 3: No, no. But in this case, yeah, that would have
- 41:11Speaker 3: been Pooh's fault for sure.
- 41:12Speaker 1: No.
- 41:12Speaker 3: You would have never been blamed for that. You're just
- 41:14Speaker 3: trying to help.
- 41:14Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 41:15Speaker 5: Okay, good.
- 41:16Speaker 3: Okay, in this case, she did help load it. She
- 41:19Speaker 3: did load it her way. Yeah.
- 41:21Speaker 5: It broke.
- 41:23Speaker 3: Is she liable?
- 41:24Speaker 6: No.
- 41:24Speaker 3: Candace, the verdict's in.
- 41:25Speaker 5: No, she's not. Look, you drove it away and you
- 41:28Speaker 5: broke it. You're guilty. You're guilty of being a cashback carry.
- 41:32Speaker 5: You're not getting your cashback. That's your broken mirror now.
- 41:37Speaker 3: You know what?
- 41:38Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 41:38Speaker 3: I think it's the boyfriend's fault.
- 41:41Speaker 5: Why?
- 41:42Speaker 3: He should have helped load it. It's his fault.
- 41:44Speaker 6: All right.
- 41:44Speaker 3: She is guilty of being a cashback carry.
- 41:49Speaker 8: It's Texas Top Stories on the 10s with Billy the
- 41:51Speaker 8: Kid in the Morning.
- 41:52Speaker 6: Only on the new Mix 102.9. We got some.
- 41:56Speaker 3: Free gas coming up. Our gas gremlin is on the loose.
- 41:58Speaker 4: 8.30 if you want to win that.
- 41:59Speaker 3: We'll do it coming up. Candace Lopez, what is going on?
- 42:01Speaker 5: Well, I was really upset earlier, but I think I've
- 42:03Speaker 5: accepted this Cowboys loss last night to the Giants.
- 42:06Speaker 6: 28-20.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Unreal.
- 42:07Speaker 6: Unreal.
- 42:09Speaker 5: Oh, I just when I went to bed, I mean,
- 42:11Speaker 5: the amount of flags that were thrown for offsides, unnecessary roughness,
- 42:17Speaker 5: delay of game.
- 42:18Speaker 7: I know.
- 42:18Speaker 6: What else?
- 42:19Speaker 3: No, I'm so mad about it.
- 42:20Speaker 4: I'm so mad because, you know, I felt and I
- 42:23Speaker 4: know everyone is going to say.
- 42:24Speaker 3: Well, of course, this year felt different.
- 42:27Speaker 5: It did.
- 42:28Speaker 6: It did.
- 42:28Speaker 3: So I'm like, well, the Giants, we beat up on
- 42:30Speaker 3: the Giants all the time.
- 42:31Speaker 5: Right.
- 42:31Speaker 3: They're not even like a great team. And then we lose.
- 42:34Speaker 3: And you know what, though? I'm just like, fuck. I'm
- 42:36Speaker 3: kind of over it to where I don't even get
- 42:37Speaker 3: that disappointed anymore.
- 42:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:39Speaker 3: I'm just like, it is what it is. But our
- 42:41Speaker 3: defense looked awful. Awful. Everything. I mean, they looked horrible.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:46Speaker 5: I mean, the most first half flags in a season
- 42:48Speaker 5: opener since 2008. Fun fact. That's not fun.
- 42:52Speaker 3: Awesome. Great.
- 42:53Speaker 1: I know.
- 42:53Speaker 3: I can't wait. Can't wait for the rest of the season.
- 42:56Speaker 5: I'm not.
- 42:56Speaker 3: I know it's one game. But we can't afford to
- 42:59Speaker 3: lose games like that.
- 43:01Speaker 5: No, it sets the tone for the season already, and
- 43:03Speaker 5: I'm just upset. I just went to double-check my pain
- 43:06Speaker 5: because I was like, well, maybe Post Malone posted something
- 43:08Speaker 5: about it, and he's okay. That'll make me okay.
- 43:10Speaker 3: No, he's not okay.
- 43:11Speaker 5: He didn't post anything.
- 43:13Speaker 3: I really genuinely think North Crowley could beat the Cowboys.
- 43:15Speaker 5: Oh, wow.
- 43:17Speaker 3: I think Allen could take them. They need to practice
- 43:19Speaker 3: against Allen. Yeah, I think Allen's defense is better.
- 43:25Speaker 5: I don't know. It's painful. Hopefully we have a better
- 43:27Speaker 5: game this Sunday. We'll play Washington at AT & T
- 43:30Speaker 5: Stadium for the home opener. Here's some good news, guys.
- 43:33Speaker 5: The cyclospora outbreak is officially over. The CDC declared the
- 43:38Speaker 5: outbreak linked to lettuce as ending Friday with over 12,000
- 43:42Speaker 5: confirmed cases across 21 states since May 1st. I guess
- 43:46Speaker 5: thousands more were reported in almost every state, but they're
- 43:49Speaker 5: saying the contaminated lettuce linked to all of this no
- 43:52Speaker 5: longer available in stores or restaurants. So that's cyclospora has
- 43:56Speaker 5: been canceled.
- 43:57Speaker 3: It's been canceled. The only thing that's good about today
- 44:00Speaker 3: is it's been canceled.
- 44:01Speaker 5: 100 percent. Guys, Celine Dion performed her first concert in
- 44:06Speaker 5: six years over the weekend. She played a sold out
- 44:08Speaker 5: show in Paris. This was her first show since announcing
- 44:12Speaker 5: she was taking a break to manage stiff person syndrome.
- 44:16Speaker 5: She had to do some really intense training and voice
- 44:19Speaker 5: therapy working through this neurological disorder. But she's got a
- 44:23Speaker 5: 26-state residency happening in Paris through October that she picks
- 44:27Speaker 5: back up next May. But I saw this online, and
- 44:29Speaker 5: it made me so happy to see her singing and
- 44:31Speaker 5: performing on stage again.
- 44:33Speaker 3: Good for her.
- 44:34Speaker 5: Yeah, because that stiff person syndrome causes muscle spasms, including
- 44:38Speaker 5: in the throat. So really tough for her, yeah, to
- 44:42Speaker 5: come back after that. But that was something good to
- 44:45Speaker 5: see on the Internet, as was this news that Lady
- 44:47Speaker 5: Gaga is now a mom. She and her fiance, Michael Polanski,
- 44:51Speaker 5: have quietly welcomed their first child together. She was seen
- 44:55Speaker 5: in Northern California, I guess, carrying the baby in a sling.
- 44:59Speaker 5: But that's literally the only details we have. We don't know,
- 45:02Speaker 5: you know, when the baby was born, the baby's name
- 45:04Speaker 5: or gender. And there was never any pregnancy announcement either.
- 45:07Speaker 5: So we don't know a lot about this, but people
- 45:10Speaker 5: are happy for Lady Gaga. You know, she's always wanted
- 45:12Speaker 5: to be a mom.
- 45:13Speaker 4: Yeah, it's weird to think about that, but I'm sure
- 45:15Speaker 4: she'll be a great mom.
- 45:16Speaker 3: Congratulations, Lady Gaga.
- 45:17Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely. I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas Top Stories.
- 45:21Speaker 7: The new Mix 102.9.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Oh, that's a hot take.
- 45:24Speaker 8: Let us know what you think.
- 45:26Speaker 7: Here's today's hot take.
- 45:27Speaker 4: Hot take of the day on Mix 102.9. Hopefully you're
- 45:29Speaker 4: having a good morning. It's Bailey the Kid, Candace Lopez
- 45:32Speaker 4: is here.
- 45:32Speaker 3: Producer Poo is here. You know I love a good list.
- 45:35Speaker 3: This list is very interesting to me because I do
- 45:37Speaker 3: feel like it is an epidemic lately. And I'm not
- 45:39Speaker 3: saying it's a bad thing, but how do we feel
- 45:42Speaker 3: about dogs being everywhere?
- 45:43Speaker 5: Oh, I love it.
- 45:44Speaker 6: Okay.
- 45:46Speaker 4: So some people do, some people don't. And when I
- 45:48Speaker 4: say everywhere, I just feel like lately... It's way more.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Accepted, and people are taking their dogs places that normally
- 45:56Speaker 3: you wouldn't see dogs back in the day.
- 45:57Speaker 5: Okay.
- 45:58Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Like, back in the day,
- 46:00Speaker 3: you'd see a dog at Home Depot.
- 46:02Speaker 5: Of course.
- 46:02Speaker 3: Sure. Lowe's, whatever.
- 46:04Speaker 4: Like that was one of the places that people just
- 46:05Speaker 4: brought their dogs. Now I feel like everywhere you go,
- 46:08Speaker 4: people have their dogs. Like I was at the mall
- 46:10Speaker 4: the other day and there was just dogs in the
- 46:11Speaker 4: mall and they weren't service.
- 46:12Speaker 3: I'm not talking about service dogs.
- 46:14Speaker 7: Right.
- 46:14Speaker 5: Just the average pet.
- 46:16Speaker 3: Yeah. Or emotional support animals. I'm talking about just a pet.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Right.
- 46:20Speaker 4: But that's another thing that's out of control, too, is
- 46:22Speaker 4: just regular pets wearing service vests.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:26Speaker 4: And pretending like they're service dogs.
- 46:28Speaker 3: But not even that. I'm not even talking about that.
- 46:30Speaker 3: I'm just talking about dogs in just places. And how
- 46:33Speaker 3: do we feel about certain places over others? Well, they
- 46:35Speaker 3: did a poll, and they surveyed like 2,000 people. And
- 46:39Speaker 3: here's the places that people said they don't want dogs. Well,
- 46:43Speaker 3: not everybody. Okay.
- 46:45Speaker 4: But a list of the number one would be the
- 46:47Speaker 4: place that people really, out of all places, they don't
- 46:50Speaker 4: want to see dogs in places.
- 46:52Speaker 3: You know, because there's, I mean, Pooh said he saw
- 46:54Speaker 3: one at the Galleria. Yeah, I was at the Galleria
- 46:55Speaker 3: the other day, and this lady had, like, one of
- 46:57Speaker 3: those snorkeldoodles.
- 46:59Speaker 5: A what?
- 47:00Speaker 3: Wait, you know those snorkeldoodles?
- 47:01Speaker 6: A snickerdoodle?
- 47:02Speaker 3: No, it's snorkeldoodles. What is a snorkeldoodle? Wait, let me,
- 47:07Speaker 3: wait a minute. Hold on. Let me just clear something
- 47:10Speaker 3: up real quick. Yeah, those snorkeldoodles.
- 47:11Speaker 5: What exactly?
- 47:12Speaker 6: Snorkeldoodles?
- 47:13Speaker 3: Yeah, they're kind of tall. They look like snobby. You
- 47:16Speaker 3: know those dogs. If you have a snorkel doodle, can
- 47:19Speaker 3: you call me?
- 47:20Speaker 5: A designer dog? I've never heard of that.
- 47:22Speaker 3: Yeah, it's got like brown curly hair. This lady had hers.
- 47:24Speaker 3: A golden doodle. Yeah, a golden doodle. Is that what
- 47:29Speaker 3: it is?
- 47:29Speaker 4: Are those golden doodles that snorkel called snorkel doodles?
- 47:34Speaker 3: It was just running wild. I mean, she had it
- 47:37Speaker 3: on a leash, but it was just all over the place.
- 47:38Speaker 3: And I was like... Why is that lady? A Labradoodle? Yeah,
- 47:42Speaker 3: bringing her dog in the mall. That was at the Galleria.
- 47:44Speaker 3: At the Galleria. That bothered you.
- 47:45Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 47:46Speaker 3: See, that doesn't bother me.
- 47:47Speaker 5: No, I love Golden Doodles.
- 47:49Speaker 3: Leave your dog at home.
- 47:50Speaker 4: It's not a service dog. I don't really care what
- 47:52Speaker 4: kind of dog it is. Most of the time, it
- 47:55Speaker 4: doesn't bother me. If your dog is bad, it bothers me.
- 48:00Speaker 5: If it's using the bathroom.
- 48:01Speaker 3: Exactly. And sometimes an accident might happen here or there.
- 48:05Speaker 3: But if your dog doesn't know how to act, I
- 48:08Speaker 3: don't want it at, you know, if we're at a
- 48:10Speaker 3: truck yard and whatever, truck yard, cool. Expect to see dogs.
- 48:14Speaker 6: Right.
- 48:14Speaker 3: If we're at Albernaise, don't expect to see your dog.
- 48:18Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 48:18Speaker 5: I mean, if you can't match the environment you're in,
- 48:21Speaker 5: the dog shouldn't be there.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Here we go. Top five places people do not want
- 48:24Speaker 3: to see dogs. Okay. Number five. Okay. And I would
- 48:28Speaker 3: love this so much. And I want to see this.
- 48:31Speaker 3: The workplace.
- 48:33Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:34Speaker 3: People said, number five on the list was, we don't
- 48:36Speaker 3: want to see your dogs. Oh, they don't? No, they don't.
- 48:39Speaker 1: Oh.
- 48:39Speaker 3: And I do. If I could bring my dog, Trigger,
- 48:43Speaker 3: with me to work, I'd be 15 times happier.
- 48:45Speaker 5: See, I'm down for this. If we have a sign-up sheet,
- 48:48Speaker 5: and it's like, okay, today's your day, tomorrow's your day.
- 48:50Speaker 5: It's not like everybody bring your dog all the time,
- 48:52Speaker 5: every day. But if we rotate, you know, you get Monday,
- 48:55Speaker 5: I get Tuesday.
- 48:56Speaker 3: Because I'll take my dog everywhere I can. Yeah. But
- 48:59Speaker 3: my dog is well-behaved.
- 49:01Speaker 7: Yeah, mine too.
- 49:02Speaker 3: He is. I'll give him that. Yeah, and your dog
- 49:03Speaker 3: is too. Other people don't have dogs like y'all. Yeah, no.
- 49:07Speaker 3: My dog's trained and knows what he's doing. He's not
- 49:09Speaker 3: a maniac, but whatever. So restaurants were number five. Wow.
- 49:15Speaker 3: Number four was coffee shops.
- 49:16Speaker 5: Really?
- 49:17Speaker 3: Which I felt like would be a place that people
- 49:19Speaker 3: don't care.
- 49:20Speaker 5: Yeah, that's the perfect place.
- 49:21Speaker 3: You know, you're sitting on the patio with a dog.
- 49:23Speaker 3: I don't really. Whatever. Doesn't bother me.
- 49:25Speaker 1: All right.
- 49:25Speaker 3: Number three. Doctors' offices and hospitals.
- 49:28Speaker 1: No.
- 49:29Speaker 3: No, absolutely not. I see that.
- 49:32Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 49:33Speaker 3: You know, because first of all, you're dealing with health concerns.
- 49:35Speaker 5: Right.
- 49:36Speaker 3: So I don't know what your condition is. Maybe you
- 49:37Speaker 3: have a breathing condition. Yeah, I will say this. At Children's,
- 49:40Speaker 3: they do have a Labrador that goes around because when
- 49:43Speaker 3: my son.
- 49:44Speaker 5: They do a baler also, yeah.
- 49:45Speaker 3: Is it a snorkel doodle? No, it's just a regular
- 49:48Speaker 3: retriever or whatever. Well, those are emotional support. Those are
- 49:52Speaker 3: specially trained dogs. I did appreciate that, yeah. But that's also,
- 49:55Speaker 3: they have them come up there.
- 49:57Speaker 5: They're therapy animals. Yeah, they're amazing.
- 49:59Speaker 3: Number two is grocery stores.
- 50:00Speaker 5: Okay.
- 50:01Speaker 3: Yeah. That really bothers some people.
- 50:03Speaker 5: I mean, that's a risk if your dog can't control himself.
- 50:05Speaker 5: I mean, there's food everywhere.
- 50:07Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true.
- 50:08Speaker 2: And then it should be a certain size dog in
- 50:10Speaker 2: the grocery store because those little dogs that you have
- 50:12Speaker 2: in the basket and they're just barking up and down.
- 50:14Speaker 3: Oh, little dogs go everywhere. Yeah. I see little dogs.
- 50:17Speaker 5: They're the yappiest.
- 50:18Speaker 4: Yeah, they are the yappiest, but they don't really bother
- 50:20Speaker 4: me because, you know, what is it going to do?
- 50:22Speaker 3: Right. Whatever. It'd just be annoying.
- 50:28Speaker 4: Number one on the list, a place that people do not,
- 50:31Speaker 4: do not want to see dogs.
- 50:32Speaker 3: They're like, nope.
- 50:34Speaker 4: Restaurants was number one on the list. People do not
- 50:38Speaker 4: want to see your dogs at a restaurant.
- 50:41Speaker 3: Right. I still think it matters which one, though.
- 50:43Speaker 5: It does.
- 50:43Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Just give me— I' m fine. If
- 50:46Speaker 3: I could see dogs everywhere, I'd be happy.
- 50:48Speaker 5: Yeah, same.
- 50:49Speaker 3: Unless— you know what? That's another place, though. Like airplanes, that's
- 50:53Speaker 3: another place a lot of dogs are going lately.
- 50:54Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 50:55Speaker 3: But they don't have seats.
- 50:56Speaker 5: Right.
- 50:57Speaker 4: So if I'm sitting next to you, and you have
- 51:00Speaker 4: your dog next to me, and it's sitting on the floor— Yeah.
- 51:04Speaker 3: It's just kind of weird.
- 51:05Speaker 5: Have you ever.
- 51:06Speaker 3: Had that happen to you?
- 51:07Speaker 5: Yeah, I have. But I enjoy it. They take the
- 51:09Speaker 5: dogs out sometimes.
- 51:10Speaker 6: Oh, no.
- 51:11Speaker 3: This dog was out. He was big.
- 51:12Speaker 1: Okay.
- 51:13Speaker 3: He was kind of a big dog. Oh.
- 51:15Speaker 6: No.
- 51:15Speaker 3: And he was like on the floor. Then he was
- 51:16Speaker 3: kind of in my space.
- 51:18Speaker 5: Oh, I love that.
- 51:19Speaker 3: Then he licked my toes.
- 51:20Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 51:20Speaker 3: That's uncomfortable.
- 51:21Speaker 5: Don't love that.
- 51:22Speaker 3: No, he didn't lick my toes. That would have been weird.
- 51:26Speaker 1: X102. 9.
- 51:26Speaker 4: Hopefully, you're having a good morning. Hopefully, you're having a
- 51:29Speaker 4: better morning than the Cowboys defense. Because that is still
- 51:33Speaker 4: on my mind right now.
- 51:35Speaker 3: I'm doing better. I'm doing better.
- 51:36Speaker 4: But I'm just like, I can't talk about it. It's
- 51:39Speaker 4: Billy the Kid, Candace Lopez, producer Pooh. I do want
- 51:41Speaker 4: to say happy birthday to Cindy, though, who I met
- 51:42Speaker 4: over the weekend. Hi to Cindy. She was a chill
- 51:45Speaker 4: in Grapevine. I stopped by to see her buddy Junior.
- 51:48Speaker 3: Oh, nice. And yeah, she was so nice. It was
- 51:50Speaker 3: her birthday. She was partying. She's like, I can't believe
- 51:52Speaker 3: I'm meeting you, tipsy. And I was like, I'm so
- 51:56Speaker 3: happy you are. Actually, she was having the best time
- 51:59Speaker 3: and she was so sweet. But thank you.
- 52:01Speaker 4: I listen, if you see me out, please come up
- 52:04Speaker 4: to me. People are like, Oh, I see you out
- 52:05Speaker 4: that I didn't want to bother you. I'm like, you're
- 52:06Speaker 4: not bothering me. If you listen, it means the world
- 52:10Speaker 4: to us. So you'll never be bothering me ever. I
- 52:13Speaker 4: wouldn't even have a job if it wasn't for you.
- 52:15Speaker 4: So thank you. Candace Lopez, how are you?
- 52:17Speaker 5: I'm good. I'm good. I had a good weekend, but
- 52:19Speaker 5: I forgot to tell y'all what happened to me on Saturday.
- 52:22Speaker 5: We got last minute invite to a friend's get together.
- 52:24Speaker 5: They were just like, you know, everybody bring food. Let's
- 52:26Speaker 5: hang out. You know, kind of one of those things.
- 52:28Speaker 5: So we didn't have time to make anything. So we
- 52:31Speaker 5: stopped off at ATB. I was just going to grab
- 52:32Speaker 5: chips and salsa and guacamole. And I've like got my basket.
- 52:36Speaker 5: I'm doing my thing, browsing around, trying to hurry. I mean,
- 52:39Speaker 5: we're already late.
- 52:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:40Speaker 5: And I'm cutting through the aisles and all of a
- 52:42Speaker 5: sudden I just hear like that. And I just feel
- 52:45Speaker 5: like something on my leg. Apparently, I guess I did it.
- 52:50Speaker 5: I don't know. I knocked off a whole bottle of
- 52:53Speaker 5: wine off of the shelf with my basket. There were
- 52:57Speaker 5: shards of glass all over my leg. I was bleeding
- 53:00Speaker 5: in like 20 spots.
- 53:02Speaker 8: Oh.
- 53:02Speaker 5: Yeah, and I'm just like frozen. I don't know what
- 53:05Speaker 5: to do. This has never happened to me before.
- 53:07Speaker 3: Are you okay?
- 53:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm okay.
- 53:09Speaker 3: Is your leg okay?
- 53:10Speaker 5: Yeah, it's okay. But, you know, huge mess all over HEB.
- 53:14Speaker 3: Were you drinking wine while you were doing this?
- 53:16Speaker 1: No.
- 53:17Speaker 5: I didn't even, I wasn't even buying wine.
- 53:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:20Speaker 6: Oh.
- 53:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Did they make you pay for it?
- 53:23Speaker 5: Well, that's what everyone keeps asking me. No, they didn't
- 53:25Speaker 5: make me pay for it. So shout out to H-E-B.
- 53:27Speaker 5: The lady was just like, you know, are you okay?
- 53:29Speaker 5: Here's the restroom right over here if you need to go.
- 53:31Speaker 3: Like, you know, wash off.
- 53:33Speaker 4: Do they ever make you pay for it? And the
- 53:34Speaker 4: reason I ask is because I was at another store.
- 53:37Speaker 3: This wasn't this past weekend, but I was at a
- 53:39Speaker 3: store one time with a bad kid. You know, I'm
- 53:42Speaker 3: talking a kid that was just running all over the place, screaming, crying.
- 53:47Speaker 3: He's got Cheeto fingers. Oh, you know, the worst stains
- 53:50Speaker 3: on his mouth. Shirts off.
- 53:52Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 53:53Speaker 3: No shoes. No shoes.
- 53:55Speaker 5: No service.
- 53:56Speaker 3: No.
- 53:56Speaker 5: This kid.
- 53:57Speaker 3: Well, he knocked over a bottle of wine, shattered it everywhere. Right.
- 54:01Speaker 3: And I'm like, you know what? They should have to
- 54:03Speaker 3: pay for it. Yeah. That parent should have to pay
- 54:05Speaker 3: for it because your kid is.
- 54:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:07Speaker 4: Do kids do parents just become numb if their kids
- 54:09Speaker 4: are bad? Do they become numb to the fact that
- 54:13Speaker 4: the kid's going crazy?
- 54:14Speaker 5: Possibly, yeah.
- 54:15Speaker 3: Is that what it is?
- 54:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, we're all so distracted and overwhelmed, overstimulated.
- 54:19Speaker 5: I mean, sometimes it's just hard.
- 54:21Speaker 4: Yeah, but this is where, like, there's times I rarely
- 54:24Speaker 4: would I ever want to parent someone else's kid and
- 54:26Speaker 4: be like, hey. This kid in particular, I wanted to
- 54:28Speaker 4: be like, hey. little demon fetus.
- 54:30Speaker 3: Yeah. You need to chill.
- 54:32Speaker 2: I mean, parents know, you know if you got a
- 54:34Speaker 2: bad kid. Like, leave them at home. I don't know
- 54:36Speaker 2: if you do.
- 54:36Speaker 3: I don't know if you do.
- 54:37Speaker 5: You can't always leave them at home.
- 54:39Speaker 3: You gotta do something or don't go to the store.
- 54:41Speaker 3: Leave them at home.
- 54:42Speaker 6: Right.
- 54:42Speaker 2: You gotta do something because, I mean, I was in
- 54:45Speaker 2: the checkout line one time and a kid was throwing
- 54:47Speaker 2: a fit because his mom wouldn't buy him a payday
- 54:49Speaker 2: and he just started throwing stuff off all over, you know,
- 54:52Speaker 2: through the aisles and stuff. And I was like, and
- 54:55Speaker 2: I looked, mom was over on the other end, I said, hey,
- 54:59Speaker 2: Put that down.
- 54:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I told him, put it down. Oh, was he scared? Oh, yeah,
- 55:02Speaker 3: he's scared. You talk to him like that? How old
- 55:04Speaker 3: was he? He was probably about five or six. Oh,
- 55:06Speaker 3: my God.
- 55:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 55:08Speaker 3: See, now, if somebody did that to my kid, I'd
- 55:10Speaker 3: be like, don't scare my kid.
- 55:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 55:12Speaker 7: What?
- 55:13Speaker 2: If your kid is throwing candy and Skittles and all
- 55:15Speaker 2: that on the ground, and you're just over there just
- 55:17Speaker 2: minding your business.
- 55:18Speaker 3: My kid wouldn't be doing that. Yeah. Well, this lady's
- 55:21Speaker 3: kid was. Actually, I was in Target. I remember. I
- 55:23Speaker 3: was in Target.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Really?
- 55:25Speaker 3: Not my Target. You ain't finna do that. I was like, hey, man,
- 55:27Speaker 3: put that down. Not my Target. I'm kind of shocked.
- 55:29Speaker 3: I'm more shocked that there was a kid who wanted
- 55:31Speaker 3: a payday. He was just grabbing candy. He just wanted
- 55:36Speaker 3: some candy. Not my target.
- 55:40Speaker 5: No, man.
- 55:41Speaker 3: Like, who works there? Are you part owner?
- 55:45Speaker 2: I'm just saying, my son was even looking like, Dad,
- 55:47Speaker 2: you would never let us do that. I was like,
- 55:48Speaker 2: you're absolutely right. And I told him, I was like,
- 55:51Speaker 2: put that candy down. And he looked at me, he
- 55:53Speaker 2: was like.
- 55:54Speaker 3: Well, I mean, you got to imagine, it's a big
- 55:55Speaker 3: old black dude.
- 55:56Speaker 2: He probably ain't seen no black people before.
- 55:59Speaker 5: No, I'm poo.
- 56:00Speaker 3: Stop. I probably scared him. Stop it.
- 56:02Speaker 6: No.
- 56:03Speaker 3: Oh, dude, some kid, though, I remember when I was
- 56:05Speaker 3: at poo at a grocery store.
- 56:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:07Speaker 3: And one, and again. Do you remember this time? This
- 56:10Speaker 3: was years ago. And there was a kid who just
- 56:12Speaker 3: kept staring at Pooh. Oh, yeah. Yeah. You could tell.
- 56:15Speaker 3: And he goes, Mama Brown. Yeah. He did, Michael.
- 56:21Speaker 8: What?
- 56:21Speaker 3: It was like he just learned his colors. He was like,
- 56:23Speaker 3: Mama Brown. Brown. Him brown.
- 56:26Speaker 5: Him brown.
- 56:27Speaker 3: And then she turned around. She goes, oh, my God.
- 56:28Speaker 3: I'm so sorry.
- 56:29Speaker 1: Oh.
- 56:30Speaker 3: I'm like, he's not wrong, though.
- 56:32Speaker 6: No.
- 56:32Speaker 3: He's saying it right.
- 56:34Speaker 8: It's Texas Top Stories on the 10s with Billy the
- 56:37Speaker 8: Kid in the morning.
- 56:38Speaker 6: Only on the new Mix 102.9.
- 56:40Speaker 7: The one and.
- 56:41Speaker 3: Only Candace Lopez. What's up?
- 56:43Speaker 5: Well, we're going to hit the triple digits again today, guys.
- 56:46Speaker 5: Nothing new. We are under a heat advisory that heat
- 56:49Speaker 5: index could get up to 107 today. Yeah, I'm so
- 56:53Speaker 5: over this.
- 56:54Speaker 4: Is this technically the hottest September ever?
- 56:56Speaker 5: Yes, it is.
- 56:57Speaker 3: Great.
- 56:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:58Speaker 5: Hottest September ever. Speaking of that, Erin said she heard
- 57:01Speaker 5: the NWB talking about this earlier and asked what I
- 57:03Speaker 5: said was going on with the champagne.
- 57:05Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 57:06Speaker 5: I was saying that France is having their hottest summer
- 57:08Speaker 5: ever also, so much that they're having to make an
- 57:11Speaker 5: exception this year and let the champagne be boozier. So
- 57:15Speaker 5: because of record temps and drought over there, they had
- 57:17Speaker 5: to harvest the crop earlier than ever. So the fruit
- 57:19Speaker 5: has a lot more sugar, which means a lot more alcohol.
- 57:21Speaker 3: That's rich people problems.
- 57:23Speaker 6: Yeah. It is.
- 57:24Speaker 5: Champagne problems.
- 57:25Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 57:25Speaker 6: Literally.
- 57:25Speaker 3: The climate is so warm that my champagne is more intense.
- 57:30Speaker 5: It's true.
- 57:30Speaker 3: I can taste it. My champagne comes in a box.
- 57:33Speaker 5: Well, it's supposed to be 13%.
- 57:35Speaker 3: So I don't care.
- 57:37Speaker 5: They're letting it go up to 15% this year. Oh, really? FYI.
- 57:42Speaker 3: I actually imported this in from Italy. Oh, yeah? Texas.
- 57:47Speaker 5: Oh, in Texas.
- 57:48Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
- 57:49Speaker 3: Very exotic place you've never been, Candace.
- 57:51Speaker 6: Go ahead.
- 57:51Speaker 5: Okay, guys. I don't know if you heard about this,
- 57:54Speaker 5: but the left-handed people are coming after Apple. So, you know,
- 57:57Speaker 5: they announced the foldable iPhone last week, the iPhone Duo. Well,
- 58:01Speaker 5: the reviews are starting to come in now, and online
- 58:04Speaker 5: reviewers are saying the phone discriminates against left-handers because it's
- 58:09Speaker 5: so awkward to hold and use.
- 58:10Speaker 3: It is. I can already tell. I'm offended.
- 58:12Speaker 5: Can you?
- 58:13Speaker 3: Yeah, as a left-hander, I'm offended by that phone. I
- 58:15Speaker 3: don't know why it just looks, like, offensive.
- 58:17Speaker 5: So I guess Apple described the closed phone as comfortable
- 58:23Speaker 5: to hold with essential controls moved to the side so
- 58:25Speaker 5: they're easy to reach. which left-handed people are saying that's
- 58:29Speaker 5: not true. You know, Apple, you guys could have, you know,
- 58:32Speaker 5: made a left-handed mode, but because of where the touch
- 58:34Speaker 5: ID button is and the cameras, you know, they'd have
- 58:37Speaker 5: to manufacture a special version.
- 58:39Speaker 3: I mean, they can do it with one update. I'm
- 58:41Speaker 3: sure they could do an update and make it work.
- 58:43Speaker 5: You think so?
- 58:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, who cares, really? But see, that is true, though.
- 58:47Speaker 3: Being left-handed... We do have to deal with some things
- 58:49Speaker 3: that you don't really think about as right-handers.
- 58:52Speaker 1: Right.
- 58:52Speaker 4: That's why I've learned to do... You just do a
- 58:54Speaker 4: lot of things. You start to do a lot of
- 58:55Speaker 4: things right-handed because it's just easier.
- 58:58Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, that makes sense.
- 58:59Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 58:59Speaker 4: Like, I write everything down. Well, I sometimes order online
- 59:02Speaker 4: special left-handed notebooks.
- 59:04Speaker 5: Really?
- 59:05Speaker 4: Yeah, so where the spiral notebook is on the other
- 59:08Speaker 4: side so my hand can actually write... so I can
- 59:10Speaker 4: set my hand down.
- 59:11Speaker 6: Oh.
- 59:11Speaker 3: They have those.
- 59:12Speaker 5: Really?
- 59:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 59:13Speaker 5: Why don't you start from the back?
- 59:15Speaker 3: Why would I do that? Because then the paper's backwards.
- 59:18Speaker 5: How? Oh, yeah.
- 59:20Speaker 3: Just trust me.
- 59:21Speaker 5: Okay. How much of the population is left-handed? 10%?
- 59:23Speaker 3: Yeah, a lot of us.
- 59:25Speaker 5: Okay. Yeah, that's enough.
- 59:26Speaker 3: Gang, gang.
- 59:29Speaker 5: Guys, the 78th Emmy Awards happen tonight on NBC. Mariska
- 59:33Speaker 5: Hargitay will host Jalen Brunson from the Knicks.
- 59:35Speaker 3: God bless you.
- 59:37Speaker 5: He's also going to be doing a pre-taped segment with her.
- 59:41Speaker 5: And then Dolly Parton will be honored by Reba McEntire
- 59:43Speaker 5: and introduced by Sally Fields. She, of course, co-starred with
- 59:47Speaker 5: Dolly in Steel Magnolias. And I think Noah Kahn is
- 59:50Speaker 5: going to perform during the In Memoriam segment. But there
- 59:54Speaker 5: are a couple of other tributes of Buffy the Vampire
- 59:57Speaker 5: Slayer 30th anniversary tribute and then a 50th anniversary of
- 1:00:00Speaker 5: Charlie's Angels moment. That's cool.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: Yeah. Sally Fields is still alive?
- 1:00:06Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: Yeah, she's still alive.
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: Aw, she's so cute.
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: She is. Well, you can see.
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: Her tonight on the Emmys.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: I won't.
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I know you won't. It's at 7 o'clock. If
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: you don't want to watch that, you can also watch
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: Monday Night Football. It's Chiefs and Broncos.
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm watching that. I haven't turned on my TV.
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: Yesterday was the first time with the Cowboys that I
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: turned my TV on in months.
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: Wow, really?
- 1:00:26Speaker 3: And I wish I wouldn't have.
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: Well, it was mostly a good day. We watched Formula
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: One and then watched football and then watched the Rangers
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: and then watched another football game and then the Cowboys game.
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: I lied.
- 1:00:37Speaker 3: I turned it on for the UT game.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: Yeah, Saturday night.
- 1:00:40Speaker 3: And that was incredible. I love that.
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly. I'm Candace Lopez. Those are your Texas Top Stories.
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: It's Dirty Little Secret with Billy the Kid in the
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: Morning on Mix 102.9.
- 1:00:50Speaker 7: Brought to you by Mint Dentistry.
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: If you have a.
- 1:00:52Speaker 6: Secret, confess 833-787-1029.
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: You have a secret. Oh, okay. So you're remarried.
- 1:01:01Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:01:12Speaker 3: And you've got a secret about your ex-wife. Bring it on.
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: What's going on? Yes, sir.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: I don't want to say exactly what I do, but
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: I'm an entrepreneur, and I'm involved with several different companies.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: I've been very fortunate in my current recent life, and
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: I've done really well for myself over the years.
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: Oh, good.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: But my life wasn't always like this. So my ex-wife
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: and I were married for more than 10 years, and
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: she was with me during probably the lowest and darkest
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: period of my life. And honestly, she deserves way better
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: than me.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:01:49Speaker 4: So you turned your life around, but what was going
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: on back then?
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: Well, honestly, I cheated on her a bunch. I partied constantly.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: I lived this stupid lifestyle where I thought I was invincible.
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: And I put that poor woman through so much hell,
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: absolute hell. And since then, I had a health scare.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: I got myself together.
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: I got better.
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: And I stopped drinking and all that good stuff. Eventually,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: she divorced me.
- 1:02:18Speaker 7: Wow.
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:02:36Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: I tried for a couple of years to like get
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: her back and win her back, but like just way
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: too much history and damage that I did. So it
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: didn't happen.
- 1:02:45Speaker 4: Well, first of all, congrats on getting your life together
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: and sober. Cause that's, that should be celebrated.
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: That's tough.
- 1:02:50Speaker 4: I'm not saying you were the best person back in
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: the day, but that's a, That's a big deal.
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: So you move on.
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: Anyway, I moved on. I remarried now and I love
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: my wife dearly, but I don't know how to explain
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: this without sounding shady though. There's something just different about
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: the first true love that you have. You know what
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: I mean? My, my ex will always be special to
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: me and near and dear to my heart because you know,
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: she loved me when I was probably at the most
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: lowest point and kind of unlovable. So yeah, Here's my secret, though.
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: A couple years ago, through mutual friends, I found out
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: she had started a small business and she wasn't doing well.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: It was actually struggling, her business. But I realized several
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: companies that I'm involved with, that I work with now,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: could actually use what.
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: She provides in her business.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: So I quietly started directing all my business her way.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: And she has no idea it's me.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: Oh, wow. You find out what she does. You find
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: out what she does. You know, you could use. So
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: you tell all the companies you're involved with, hey, use
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: her for whatever she does.
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: So everybody wins.
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: So everybody wins. But she doesn't know that. She doesn't
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: know that this is happening.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: She has no idea it's from me, and she has
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: no idea. And without sounding arrogant, I know the numbers.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: I know kind of like how much I'm making her.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: If my companies weren't using her business, there's almost no
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: chance in hell that she would still be open today.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: And I'm not saying this for a pat on the back.
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: I'm basically secretly keeping my ex-wife's company alive. But I
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: don't look at it like I'm some sort of superhero. Honestly,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: I look at it as this is the least I
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: could do for all the hell that I put her through.
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: Wow. Now, let me ask you this. I think it's
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: really cool that you're doing that.
- 1:04:35Speaker 5: Yeah. You're like a little silent angel.
- 1:04:37Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: You say nobody knows this. Does your current wife know this?
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: My current wife does not know anything about this. And
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: there's definitely no way that I could tell my current wife.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: There's nothing romantic about it. Nothing happening like that. I
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: don't talk to my ex.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: I'm not trying to get back with her. I don't
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: even want anything from her. I just feel like maybe
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: this is my way of finally, finally paying back a
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: debt that I've carried around for many, many years now.
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: I think it's very noble of you to do.
- 1:05:05Speaker 6: Yeah, it is.
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: I don't think it's anything shady.
- 1:05:07Speaker 6: I mean.
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: Will it look like that if your current wife finds out? Oh, yeah.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: She'll be mad.
- 1:05:12Speaker 4: How would you feel, Candace, if you found out that
- 1:05:15Speaker 4: your husband is supporting an ex-wife's business?
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: Yeah, it'd be interesting, especially because he doesn't have contact
- 1:05:21Speaker 5: with her. She has no idea. So that tells me
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: it really is coming from a good place.
- 1:05:25Speaker 4: And I think, honestly, you could probably tell your wife
- 1:05:28Speaker 4: this and explain the situation, and I think she would understand.
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean, I wouldn't. But no, I'm just kidding.
- 1:05:35Speaker 3: I'm not going to tell her.
- 1:05:36Speaker 5: You're not communicating with her. The business dealings aren't coming
- 1:05:39Speaker 5: from you to her directly.
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: Yeah, good for you. I think you're selling a nice guy. Well,
- 1:05:43Speaker 3: thank you.
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: I strive to be. I mean, I wasn't always. So,
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: you know, this is a good way of getting it.
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: Back, you know. Well, good for you.
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: And congrats, more importantly, on being sober. And I hope
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: that you continue that lifestyle. at least you have a
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: conscience that you understand you did somebody wrong and you'd
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: like to repay that debt.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel terrible. And I'm never going back to
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: that lifestyle.
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: No way.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Well, good.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: Dirty little secret. There you go. Thank you for listening
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: to us. We'll see you tomorrow, bright and early. Candace,
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: what do you got going on today?
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: I think we're going cleat shopping. Yeah, Enzo has his
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: first baseball game of the season on Wednesday, and we
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: still haven't gotten him new cleats.
- 1:06:25Speaker 6: Oh, nice.
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: So, yeah, we're going to head to Dick's later. Okay, good.
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: Well, just go right across the street. We've got Dick's
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: right there.
- 1:06:31Speaker 5: Probably will.
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: Yeah, not that you have to go to that Dick's.
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: There's Dick's everywhere.
- 1:06:34Speaker 5: Right, yeah. But either way.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: Oh, good. Well, that's awesome. That'll be fun.
- 1:06:38Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: Pooh, what are you doing? I'm heading to my aunt's
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: house tonight. She's making a cake. You go to your
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: aunt's house so much.
- 1:06:44Speaker 5: What's she making a cake for?
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: I told her, I was like, hey, are you cooking tonight?
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: She's like, no, but I'm making a cake. I'm like,
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: I haven't had anything sweet. I want a strawberry cake.
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: Aunt Terri, I'm coming. I haven't had anything sweet. Aunt Terri,
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: I'm coming for that strawberry cake.
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: We had cake for Billy's birthday, didn't we?
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: Yeah, a little bit. Yeah. You had a little piece. Candace,
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: he said he hasn't had anything sweet. Like South Bend Kids.
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: He ate literally, no, you literally ate all of the
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: delicatessen dessert things that we got from Rising Hope Bakery.
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: Oh, wait, that didn't count. That's right. I forgot the oatmeal.
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: He literally ate all the oatmeal cream pies. Okay, but
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: how long ago was that? Last week. Last week. It
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: was a couple weeks ago.
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: And the fair's coming tomorrow, right, to bring us all
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: the treats?
- 1:07:30Speaker 4: And then we got fair. Yeah, State Fair of Texas
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: is going to be here tomorrow to give us a
- 1:07:33Speaker 4: little preview of the food.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: I just wanted some of her strawberry cake.
- 1:07:37Speaker 5: I don't blame you.
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: I don't blame you either, but don't say it's, oh,
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: I haven't had anything sweet. I haven't even eaten since
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: last year. Holding me accountable. I like that. I appreciate that. No,
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: you don't. You don't have to, but I appreciate it.
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: Because you don't do anything about it. He says he's
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: going to walk to me. He wants to do the
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: walk this year to the fair. Yeah, I'm good. Yeah.
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: I'm going to be good. Yeah, keep it up, strawberry cake.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: Strawberry shortcake.
- 1:08:01Speaker 3: Strawberry shortcake. Strawberry shortcake.
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: I'm strawberry.
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: No cake back there anyway, so it's fine. All right,
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: we'll see you tomorrow. Have a great day.
- 1:08:10Speaker 6: Bye.
- 1:08:11Speaker 7: The new Mix 102.9.
