- 0:51Speaker 1: A Hey, y'all, welcome to today's show. Today we are
- 1:03going to get back into the Ten Commandments. Have it
- 1:06done a podcast in a few days. Had a lot
- 1:08going on, so apologies for my absence. As usual, we
- 1:13will start with a few questions and answers from radio replies.
- 1:17The person asks or states, posits whatever you said that
- 1:22the unity of the Church could not be maintained unless
- 1:25the Church were infallible. But are not the different faiths
- 1:29today accounted for by the fact that the Apostles went
- 1:32different ways and preached according to different views. Common Protestant
- 1:37belief absolutely false. If you read the writings of the
- 1:41early Church, you will know there's absolutely not true. They
- 1:45answer the apostles held and taught the same doctrines. Saint
- 1:48Paul denied the right of anyone to preach different faiths
- 1:52Galatians one eight through nine. In any case, the differing
- 1:55Protestant sex cannot go back to the beyond the sixteenth
- 1:59century and certainly have derived neither their being nor their
- 2:03specifically Protestant doctrines from any of the Apostles. That person says,
- 2:08But where was unity even within the Catholic Church during
- 2:12the fourteenth century when there were three popes at once,
- 2:15each with his own section of adherents, And they answer,
- 2:18there has never been more than one true pope. At
- 2:21times there have been rival claimants to the papacy, even
- 2:26but if several pretenders put forward today their claims to
- 2:29be the King of England, their claims would not invalidate
- 2:33the right of the present king. Anti popes are not
- 2:36really popes. But take the fourteenth century. In thirteen seventy eight,
- 2:40Urban the sixth was lawfully elected pope at run some
- 2:45French cardinals, wrongly thinking or maintained that he had not
- 2:48been rightly elected, elected another pope, who called himself claiment
- 2:51the seventh. Good Men on both sides believed that each
- 2:54in each pope's right, but no one admitted that both
- 2:57could be popes at once held that only one of
- 3:01the two could be pope. To settle the difficulty, another
- 3:04group of cardinals later went on beyond their rights and
- 3:07declared the rival popes deposed and elected a second anti pope,
- 3:12Alexander the Fifth. It gave rise to three lines of claimants,
- 3:16and thus complicate the position. A general council was called
- 3:20the legitimate successor. In the Urban line, Gregory the twelfth reign,
- 3:27the successors of the anti popes were declared to be
- 3:29unduly elected, and the difficulty was overcome by the elect
- 3:34of Pope Martin the Fifth in fourteen seventeen. The true
- 3:37succession was never lost, nor was the central unity. All
- 3:41the time, there was but one true Pope, and the
- 3:43mistake on the part of the faithful as to which
- 3:46was the truth pope was not an error in faith
- 3:48the church under God's guidance. Whether this difficulty of internal
- 3:52dissension once more showing the divine protection which the Catholic
- 3:56Church has ever enjoyed in the virtue of Christ's promise
- 3:59to be with her all days until the end of
- 4:01the world. The person says, you mentioned not only the unity,
- 4:05but also the holiness of the Catholic Church. Here at
- 4:08least your position becomes impossible. Indeed, how much of the
- 4:12spirit of the of Christ is found in any church today?
- 4:15And they answer, it is to be found whole and
- 4:18entire only in the Catholic Church. As a church. The
- 4:21Catholic Church is holy in her founder, in her teachings,
- 4:25worship and discipline, and can alone inspire completely Christian spirit
- 4:30in men of good will. This, however, does not imply
- 4:34that every member of the Catholic Church is holy, made
- 4:36to their own shame, do not live up to their faith.
- 4:39Person continues all religions teach holiness, Protestantism and even Mahometanism.
- 4:44That's Muslim Islam. We'll go with that. A moral and
- 4:48are as moral and tolerant as the Catholic Church. Protestantism,
- 4:53they answer, was not holy in its original founders, cannot
- 4:57preserve Christian teaching intact, and dare not insist upon truly
- 5:01Christian moral principles. Even its leaders excuse and approve laxity
- 5:07and practice tolerating divorce and remarriage, birth control, contempt of
- 5:11the scriptures, indifference in religion and rationalism and humanitarianism in
- 5:15place of faith and charity. And you term this renunciation
- 5:19of Write's principles tolerance. Tolerance may spare evil individuals, but
- 5:25it never says that evil conduct is justified. As for Muslims,
- 5:31do you know as little about them as you do
- 5:33the Catholic Church. The Koran allows divorce, polygamy, the right
- 5:38of husbands to thrash their wives, the right to murder
- 5:41on believers, sanct the sanction of impurity provided a man
- 5:46washes his hands in clean sand, and much other evil
- 5:51doctrine absolutely condemned by the Catholic Church and indeed by
- 5:56every right conscience. And I think it's very important a
- 6:02lot of you know, it's really Post nine to eleven stuff,
- 6:05all that tolerance of Islam that was embraced by George W.
- 6:10Bush and all that, and a lot of our religious leaders,
- 6:13some particularly within our own church, trying to find common
- 6:18ground with Islam. And there is some common ground to
- 6:22be had in the principles in which we agree. Those
- 6:27principles can be held to be true and valid and
- 6:29equally good in both religions. That's true of any religion.
- 6:33If a Buddhist says it's wrong to kill, they're exactly
- 6:36as right as a Christian or Jew who says we
- 6:39follow the teachings that thou shalt not kill. Just because
- 6:43they're of a different faith does not invalidate a moral
- 6:47and just position. But Islam is really incompatible with Christianity
- 6:54for the very reason that they insist that all Christians
- 6:57convert to Islam or die. That's the bottom line. Now,
- 7:02not all Muslims believe that has some very good Muslim
- 7:04friends who are very tolerant and say we can live
- 7:07side by side and all that, but that's not what
- 7:09we might call the fundamental teaching of their doctrine. The
- 7:15Korean actually says, you know, kill the Jew where you
- 7:17may find him, enslave the Christian, etcetera, etcetera. While Islam,
- 7:22while Muslims can certainly live side by side with Christians
- 7:25and Jews in peace, those who are strong believers in
- 7:31their doctrine, in the actual teachings of their faith, will
- 7:35constantly persecute Christians and Jews. A lot of Catholics have
- 7:41gotten this idea that we're more at odds with Jews
- 7:45than we are with Muslims, and that really could not
- 7:49be further from the truth. There are bad actors on
- 7:52both sides. There are certainly bad Jews, there are bad Christians,
- 7:57but we have far more in common in our moral beliefs.
- 8:02The you know, the Ten Commandments are supposed to be universal,
- 8:07thou shalt not kill, being among them, and Islam has
- 8:12no universal doctrine. Accept submission. That's actually what Islam means
- 8:18is submission. And they will not tolerate other religions because,
- 8:24according to their teaching all other religions must be destroyed,
- 8:29and everyone can either convert or be slaughtered before their
- 8:35great profit will rise and there'll be peace on earth.
- 8:39It's really more in alignment with the doctrines of the
- 8:43Antichrist than with Christ. And it's unfortunate. As I said,
- 8:48I've had many, well several, I won't see many, but
- 8:50I've had some fairly good Muslim friends. And we treat
- 8:53each other with respect, and we can debate, and you know,
- 8:56the one thing we don't do is act like we
- 8:59agree on everything. We respect each other's differences. And that's
- 9:04to say, it's also true with Jews. You will not
- 9:08find your fundamentalists, shall we say, Muslim able to tolerate
- 9:16such well, really a modernist mindset, and that is really
- 9:22what it is. I mean, it's that the modern idea
- 9:25of tolerance, which in itself is not bad. We you know,
- 9:30live and let live, but we don't deny the truth. Really,
- 9:35neither should they deny what they think is the truth.
- 9:37And our truths are incompatible. And remember there's only one truth. Now,
- 9:42what we can agree on is that there is one God,
- 9:46the Father of the Creator, that God revealed himself to Abraham,
- 9:51that you know, these are Abrahamic religions, but the prophet
- 9:55Mohammed has very very little to do with the religion
- 10:00of Abraham. I mean, I would say he was in Antichrist,
- 10:05and I don't think history would prove me wrong. For
- 10:09centuries Muslims did nothing but invade Christian lands, slaughter people,
- 10:15burned their churches, and take women and children as slaves.
- 10:19That's not something you can live with in peace. Now,
- 10:25nineteen fifties, sixties, you know, twenties, even really under British rule,
- 10:30a lot of the Islamic world became very sophisticated, very urbane,
- 10:36wonderful people, great contributions to literature and art. And really
- 10:42they've always been quite gifted in literature and art. I mean,
- 10:44you can go back to medical sciences. They really took
- 10:48Galen's work from ancient Greeks and the Roman tradition and
- 10:52expanded and made great contributions to medicine. Very intelligent people,
- 10:57many of them. You can look in the nineteen seventies
- 11:01with the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood, which said no,
- 11:04no Western culture, no influence of Christianity, Kill the Jews,
- 11:09kill the Christians, and you're looking at the modern state
- 11:11of Iran today. They did not want to live peacefully
- 11:16side by side as they had somewhat been forced to
- 11:20under mostly British rule. So anyway, we'll move on and
- 11:26we will get to the fourth Commandment. This is from
- 11:29Father Sparagu's exhaustive Catechism of the Catholic Church, so referencing him.
- 11:34In the fourth Commandment, God enjoins upon us to honor
- 11:37His representatives on earth. That is to say, our parents,
- 11:41and both ecclesiastical and secular authorities our duty towards our parents.
- 11:47Our parents are to be honored because they are God's
- 11:49representatives and our greatest benefactors. We are all children of
- 11:53one father in heaven, and He causes us to be
- 11:56fed and brought up by our earthly parents. Thus, parents
- 11:59take the of God in regard to the education of
- 12:02their children. They are His representatives, and as such, the
- 12:06honor due to Him must be paid to them. For
- 12:09the viceroy can claim the same respect as the monarch,
- 12:11who has delegated his authority to him. Those who despise
- 12:16their parents despise God himself. Saint Augustine, after conversion, bitterly
- 12:21regretted the disrespect he had shown the mother God had
- 12:25given him, knowing that thereby he had shown disrespect to God.
- 12:29Our parents are moreover our greatest benefactors. How much, exclaimed
- 12:33Saint Ambrose, has not my mother suffered on thy account?
- 12:36How many sleepless nights, how many privations? How much anxiety
- 12:40has she not born for thee? And hard thy father
- 12:44has worked? And how hard thy father has worked to
- 12:48provide thee with food and raiment. And can't sell be
- 12:51ungrateful to those who have done and suffered so much
- 12:53for thee. The son of God himself honored his mother
- 12:57and his foster father. It is said of him that
- 13:00he was subject to them. Learn of him to obey
- 13:02your parents. He honored them though they were his servants.
- 13:06He loved and respected his mother, whose creator he was.
- 13:09He never forgot that as an infant he had lain
- 13:12on Mary's bosom and be carried in joseph arms. We
- 13:18ought to honor our parents by respectful behavior, love and obedience.
- 13:22When God bids us to honor our parents, he commands
- 13:25us to love and obey them, For this is included
- 13:28in the reverence we owe them. Love is due to
- 13:30them as our greatest benefactors. It is the first duty
- 13:33of a Christian to compensate his parents for the trouble
- 13:36and the sacrifices his education has entailed on them. The
- 13:40obligation to obey them ceases when there is no longer
- 13:42an occasion for it. The duty of loving and respecting them, though,
- 13:48only ends with their lives. Respect to what our parents
- 13:51consists in esteeming them from our hearts as God's representatives,
- 13:55and manifesting this esteem outwardly by word. Indeed, esteem for
- 13:59our parents must be heartfelt, otherwise alward manifestation of esteem
- 14:03would be dissembling or a lie. Christ showed great respect
- 14:08for his mother the marriage feast of Cana, for although
- 14:11he told her his hour for working miracles was not
- 14:13yet come, he complied with her request. We must honor
- 14:18our parents, even if they are poor and in a
- 14:19humble class of life. Joseph, when governor of Egypt, showed
- 14:22great respect to his aged father, although he was only
- 14:25a shepherd, and he brought him to the king and
- 14:28presented him before him. That's in Genesis. You know the story.
- 14:33King Solomon rose from his throne to meet his mother.
- 14:35Although she was not of royal lineage, he bowed to
- 14:38her and made her sit at his right hand. That's
- 14:40in three kings I guess two nineteen. But Benedict the
- 14:44eleventh received his mother, who was a poor washerwoman, in
- 14:47the kindest manner when she went to him in the
- 14:49mean apparel of her class. Even if parents do not
- 14:53lead a virtuous life, they still have a claim upon
- 14:56the respect of their children because of the position they
- 14:58hold in regard to them as God's representatives. The wise
- 15:01man says, honor they father in word and work, and
- 15:04in all patients. Ecclesiastes. Love of our parents consists in
- 15:09kind feelings and kind actions toward them. We are bound
- 15:12to love our parents as we are bound to love
- 15:13all men, because they are a neighbor made in God's image.
- 15:16But this is not enough. They have a right to
- 15:18special affection on our part because we are their children,
- 15:21because they love us so tenderly and confer so many
- 15:24benefits upon us. Are not his parents a child's best friends.
- 15:28Love consists in a kind of sentiment and action. Joseph
- 15:32showed his affection for his old father. He fell on
- 15:35his neck, embracing him and wept. But kind feelings are
- 15:39not enough. Let us not love in word nor in tongue,
- 15:42but indeed and in truth one John three point eighteen.
- 15:45Therefore we ought to help our parents in destitution or sickness,
- 15:48and pray for them. The Prussian general don't even ask
- 15:52me how to pronounce his name, z E t h N. Anyway,
- 15:58when a page was once on guard at night at
- 16:01the king's antechamber, the King Frederick the First, finding he
- 16:05did not answer his summons, went out and found him
- 16:07asleep over a letter which he was writing to his
- 16:10mother to send his first earnings, which were thirty shillings
- 16:14in the royal service. The king read the letter and
- 16:16was so touched that they put a roll of money
- 16:18in the young man's pocket, and the next morning appointed
- 16:21him to the army. When Blessed Thomas Moore had been
- 16:24put to death for the faith by the order of
- 16:26Henry the Eighth, no one ventured to bury his remains.
- 16:30His daughter, Margaret alone braved the tyrant's wrath, and he,
- 16:33respecting her filial devotion, allowed no one to interfere with her.
- 16:38Even among the lower animals we find examples of affection
- 16:41toward parents. The young of lions share their prey with
- 16:44the old, and the storks warmed those who have lost
- 16:47their plumage through age. They bring them food and a
- 16:49system to fly. The wise man says, sons support the
- 16:53old age of thy father. Ecclesiastes again, I think it's
- 16:56three eighteen. Remember how our Lord on the Cross provide
- 17:00for his mother, commending her to the care of Saint John.
- 17:03That's John nineteen twenty six. Obedience toward our parents consistent,
- 17:08fulfilling all their lawful commands as long as we are
- 17:11under their authority. Children, obey your parents in all things
- 17:14is Colossians three twenty. Just as parents are bound to
- 17:17provide for the education their children, so it is the
- 17:20duty of the children to obey the parents. As in
- 17:23the state, some rule and others obey, so it must
- 17:25be in the family, otherwise there can be no domestic order.
- 17:29In concord, virtue is expected the oldest submission of the young.
- 17:34Yet children only bound to obey when the command is just.
- 17:39If their parents order them to do what is contrary
- 17:41to God's law and consequently unjust, they must act. On
- 17:46the Apostles' words, we ought to obey God rather than
- 17:48men acts five twenty nine. Saint Hermnguild, son of Leoville,
- 17:55guild King of the Goths, was imprisoned by his father
- 17:59in a tower in Villa because he would not embrace
- 18:02the Aryan heresy. The king promised to restore him to
- 18:06his favor only if he complied with his desires, but
- 18:09the saint replied that he would renounce the crown, and
- 18:13he would renounce the crown his father's affection life itself,
- 18:17rather than to deny his faith. He was accordingly martyred.
- 18:20Several other saints have chosen to disobey the commands of
- 18:24their earthly rather than their heavenly fathers, and thus lost
- 18:27their lives. Parents who require their children to do what
- 18:30is forbidden by the law of God undermine their own authority.
- 18:34They saw off the bow in which they're sitting. A
- 18:37man ordered his son to work in the fields on Sunday.
- 18:39The lad refused, saying it was forbidden by the law
- 18:41of God. The father rejoined angrily, you are not a
- 18:45child now, and the commands are only for children. In
- 18:48that case, the son replied, then I need not keep
- 18:51the fourth commandment, which bids me to obey you. Children
- 18:55are only abound to obey their parents as long as
- 18:57they are under their control, and they are only to
- 19:00obey it in matters which come within the sphere of
- 19:03parental authority, such as in manners and behavior at home
- 19:06and abroad, their companions, etc. Parents have no right to
- 19:11dictate to their children in regard to the calling they
- 19:13show embrace, for if a vocation comes from God, parents
- 19:17cannot dispose of their children's future when they are no
- 19:20longer subject to them. Saint Francis of ASSISI would not
- 19:23let his father make a merchant of him. Saint Rose
- 19:26of Lima refuse to marry. Yet the advice of parents
- 19:30should always be asked. Age gives them greater discernment and
- 19:33experience of life, and they are the best and wisest
- 19:36counselor a man can have. Holy scripture exhorts us. Thus,
- 19:40my son, here are the instructions of thy father Proverbs
- 19:43one eight. Our duty is the same in regards to
- 19:46those who are in authority over us as it is
- 19:49to our parents, our teachers and governors, masters, employers, and
- 19:53our elders. In general. The older to be respected by
- 19:56the young, honor the person of the age and man
- 19:59and rise of before the hoary hit it says Leviticus,
- 20:03it becomes the elder to speak first Ecclesiastes. The Spartans
- 20:07entertained great respect for the aged. When an old man
- 20:10could not find a place of the Olympian Games, they
- 20:13all rose up to give him a seat. Alexander the
- 20:16Great was one day sitting by a warm fire, when
- 20:18he saw an aged soldier shivering in the cold. He
- 20:21called him in and gave him his own place on
- 20:23the regal couch. Young people ought to heed the council
- 20:27of the old, for of them they shall learn wisdom
- 20:31and instruction Ecclesiastes. Again, the old act less on impulse,
- 20:35and consequently more prudently. God appointed a council of seventy
- 20:40ancients for the guidance of the Jews in Exodus, and
- 20:43the Roman Senate was composed of old men. Above all,
- 20:46the aged should never be despised, For we shoot two
- 20:49shall become old in our turn Ecclesiastes. Their infirmities must
- 20:54be born with an ancient man rebuked, not but entreat
- 20:57him as a father's first Tenothy five to one. He
- 21:01transgresses the fourth commandment of God. Who is disrespectful towards
- 21:04his parents, who behaves rudely to them, is or is
- 21:07ashamed of them, etc. Cham mocked his father when he
- 21:11lay naked and drunken his tent Genesis nine. For this,
- 21:15his father cursed him. His descendants are the inhabitants of
- 21:18Africa and know not the true God. Don't know if
- 21:21that's true or not. That's legend. You know, it was
- 21:24believed and passed down through time. Take that with a
- 21:28grain of salt. You know, it's the eighteen nineties when
- 21:31this was written, and we didn't know a lot about
- 21:34genetics back then. And you know, like I said, take
- 21:36that one with a grain of salt. He who is
- 21:38unkind to his parents, who for instance, hates them, refuses
- 21:41to help them, or steals from them, etc. The son
- 21:45of Jacob, after they had sold their brother Joseph, deceived
- 21:49and grieved their father. In Genesis, Absalom spoke against his
- 21:52father at the palace Gates, lied to him, and rebelled
- 21:55against him. In Second Kings fifteen, he who disobeys his parents, parents,
- 22:00and will not be corrected by them, transgresses his commandment.
- 22:03The two sons of the high priests Eli disobeyed their
- 22:06father's commands and admonitions. First Kings two. How does God
- 22:11reward the observance of the Fourth Commandment. God promises long life,
- 22:15happiness and blessings upon earth to children who honor their parents.
- 22:19At the giving of the Law and Sinai, God promised
- 22:21long life as reward for keeping the First Commandment. Exodus
- 22:24twenty twelve Saint Paul holds out the same inducement to
- 22:28the fulfillment of filial duty and Ephesians six 's three
- 22:32Joseph was obedient to his father. The old man loved
- 22:35him for it, but his brethren hated him. Joseph was
- 22:38made governor of Egypt and attained the age of one
- 22:40hundred and ten years Genesis ie. Those who honor their
- 22:44parents honor old age. As in the providence of God.
- 22:47There is generally some connection between work and reward. Dutiful
- 22:51children usually reach an advanced age. A long life is
- 22:55a great boon to a man. The longer he lives,
- 22:57the more merits he can amass for eternity. Under the
- 23:00old dispensation with the Old Testament, essentially, a long life
- 23:05shortened the sojourn of the soul and limbo. Consequently, it
- 23:08was a greater privilege than are the New dispensation. When
- 23:11a good death is an immediate transition to eternal life. Certainly,
- 23:15many good children die young. But even in this case,
- 23:18God fulfills his promise, for instead of life on earth,
- 23:21he gives him life eternal, which is far more to
- 23:23be desired. Beside an innocent life, it is in itself. Besides,
- 23:29an innocent life is in itself a long life. A
- 23:32spotless life is old Age Wisdom four nine. God takes
- 23:37many a one out of this world that he may
- 23:40escape contamination. Moreover, the blessings which parents invoke upon their
- 23:45children are very powerful. Witness the blessing which the age
- 23:49Tobias gave to his son when he set out on
- 23:51his journey, the blessing Noah pronounced upon him and Jayfith.
- 23:56Honor your parents, that their blessings may rest upon you.
- 23:59The father's using establish the house of the children. Ecclesiastes again,
- 24:04he that honorth his mother is his one that layeth
- 24:06up treasure. The relieving of the father shall never be forgotten.
- 24:10It's all from Ecclesiastes. Hence it comes that dutiful children
- 24:14are generally prosperous, or at least have real contentment. The
- 24:17enjoyment of happiness and peace is more to be desired
- 24:20than wealth. Those who behave well to their parents are
- 24:23blessed in turn with dutiful children who are comfort to them.
- 24:28He that honors to this father shall have joy in
- 24:30his own children. Happiness in this world and in the
- 24:33next is the reward God bestows upon children who honor
- 24:36their parents. God threatens to sind upon those who do
- 24:40not honor their parents, shame upon earth, a miserable end
- 24:43and everlasting damnation. It is unquestionably a great sin to
- 24:48treat one's greatest earthly benefactors with ingratitude, and because of
- 24:52the magnitude of the sins and punishments is proportionately heavy.
- 24:57Those who forget their father and mother, God will forget
- 25:00and allow them to suffer reproach Ecclesiastes. A tree on
- 25:04which there were no blossoms can produce no fruit, So
- 25:07the man who was disobedient in his youth would not
- 25:10be honored in his old age. Bad children frequently come
- 25:12to a miserable end. Witness the death of the two
- 25:15sons of Heli who perished in battle First Kings four eleven.
- 25:19Also the fate that overtook the treasurer's Absalom, who having
- 25:23rebelled against his father David, and defeated him. Was caught
- 25:26by his long hair in the branches of an oak,
- 25:28and hung there pierced by three lances. Second Kings eighteen.
- 25:33I guess bad children are in great danger of losing
- 25:37their souls. If God deals so severely in the day
- 25:39of judgment with those who have failed to perform works
- 25:42of mercy towards their neighbor, how much more rigorously will
- 25:46he judge those who have been unkind to their own parents.
- 25:49The Apostle says that those who are disobedient to parents
- 25:51are worthy of death. Romans one point thirty. The Jewish
- 25:55law pronounced a curse upon him who honoreth not his
- 25:57father and mother Duterotomy twenty seven sixteen. Again, he that
- 26:02striketh his father or mother shall be put to death.
- 26:05Exodus twenty one point fifteen. The eye that mocketh his mother,
- 26:09let the ravens pluck it out, and the young eagles
- 26:12eat it. To Proverbs thirty seventeen. God laid strict commands
- 26:16upon the Jews. A stubborn and unruly son who will
- 26:19not hear the commands of his father, the city shall
- 26:22stone him, and he shall die and all Israel hearing
- 26:25it may be afraid. Due Toonomy twenty one, eighteen and
- 26:28twenty one, those who have not honored their parents by
- 26:31divine retribution often have unruly children of their own, As
- 26:35experience frequently shows, by what things a man sinneth by
- 26:39the same he has tormented from wisdom eleven seventeen, Cham
- 26:43despised his father and his descendants were degraded nations whom
- 26:47God caused to be cast out of Canaan. This also
- 26:52includes our duty toward those in authority. God has appointed
- 26:55two powers of spiritual in the secular for the direction
- 26:58of human society. The spiritual power he has committed to
- 27:01the guidance of souls to the secular, to the maintenance
- 27:04of peace and order. Throughout the whole of creation, we
- 27:07observe the existence of a certain mutual dependence. The moon
- 27:10is the satellite of the Earth. The Earth and other
- 27:13planets of our source system revolve around the Sun. The
- 27:16mineral kingdom supplies nourishment to vegetable kingdom, and the vegetable
- 27:19to the animal, while each and all are for the
- 27:21service of man. Among animals we find the same subordination
- 27:25of some to others. The bees are governed by a queen.
- 27:27The birds and wild beasts of the forests, the fish,
- 27:30and the seas have their leaders and obey a kind
- 27:33of military rule. In our own bodies, we see how
- 27:37one member commands the others to obey. In the spiritual
- 27:40war the world, the same law of dependence exists in
- 27:43the natural order. There are angels of higher and lower
- 27:46ranks in like manner, as will of God, that some
- 27:49men should rule and others be subject in consequence of
- 27:53original sin. Without rulers, human society would soon resemble an
- 27:56army without commanders. A disorderly rabble are to the state
- 28:01what beams are to a wall. Without beams, the building
- 28:04would fall when after the fall, men began to rage
- 28:08against each other like wild beasts, and the sun of
- 28:11the first man slew his brother God set rulers over
- 28:14them to restrain them. Our rulers ought in some measure
- 28:18to reflect, as in a mirror, of the divine power
- 28:20and providence watching over mankind. Just as there are two
- 28:24lights in the firmament of heaven, the sun to shine
- 28:26by day and the moon by night, so two powers
- 28:29are institute of goward mankind. The spiritual like the Sun
- 28:32is superior because it guides man to his eternal goal,
- 28:35whereas the secular authority is primarily concerned with the temporal
- 28:39welfare of its subjects. The earthly interests of the people
- 28:42are in trust to the ruler, and their spiritual interests
- 28:45to the priest. Although the two powers have separate aims,
- 28:48they mutually complete each other. They are like the two
- 28:51golden cherubim shadowing the ark of the Covenant with their wings.
- 28:55The highest spiritual authority was given by God to the Pope,
- 28:59the highest sector authority to the monarch of the land.
- 29:01In most countries, the people have a share in the
- 29:04second government. Both pope and king received their power from God.
- 29:08Our Lord said to Saint Peter, feed my lambs, feed
- 29:10my sheep, John twenty one seventeen. Thus the Apostle Peter
- 29:14was constituted Prince of the Apostles and the visible head
- 29:17of the Church militant by Christ himself. The chief ranks,
- 29:22the chief rank and spiritual supremity supremacy conferred on Saint Peter,
- 29:27as vested by Christ's appointment in the person of the
- 29:30Bishop of Rome. For the time being that the head
- 29:33of governor or governor of the state also derives his
- 29:35power from God. We learn from the words our Lord
- 29:37addressed to Pilate, thou shouldst not have any power against
- 29:42me unless it were given thee from above John nineteen,
- 29:45I'm sorry, yeah, nineteen eleven, by king's reign and lawgivers
- 29:51to cree just things. Proverbs eight fifteen. Here ye kings,
- 29:55for powers given to you by the Lord Wisdom six
- 29:58' four. There is no power but God Romans thirteen
- 30:01to one. Monarchs usually aid the words. Monarchs usually add
- 30:06the words by the grace of God to their title.
- 30:09In all European countries except Russian Turkey, the sovereign consults
- 30:13the will of parliament or representatives of the people. Our
- 30:17duties toward the Pope and the king are similar to
- 30:19our duties toward God, for they are both His representatives.
- 30:22The vice generates of God, both spiritual and temporal, are
- 30:27often called ministers of God Wisdom six ' five or
- 30:29the lords anointed first Kings twenty four seven. They are
- 30:33even spoken of as gods in Exodus twenty two to
- 30:37twenty eight. Just as one who fills the place of
- 30:39king is called viceroy, the pope terms himself the servant
- 30:43of the servants of God. We owe to Almighty God
- 30:47worship and fidelity, first Commandments, Reverence, second Commandments, service, third
- 30:51commandment we owe to His vice regents, and that's probably
- 30:55not how it's pronounced vice garance his representatives. We're going
- 30:59to go with that. Obedience and loyalty, respect, and service.
- 31:03Our duties to the Supreme Pontiff are these. We are
- 31:06bound to obey him in spiritual matters, to be loyal
- 31:09to him, to respect his authority, and by prayers and offerings,
- 31:12assist him in arduous duties of his office. We are
- 31:15under the obligation to obey the Pope in all spiritual matters.
- 31:19All the pastors of the Church and the faithful of
- 31:21every rank and right are subject to the Pope and
- 31:23bound to yield him perfect obedience. What the head is
- 31:27to the other members of the human body, that is,
- 31:30to the Pope, to the body of Christ, I e.
- 31:32The Church. One Corinthians twelve twenty seven. As he is
- 31:36representative of Christ. Second Corinthians five twenty he declares to
- 31:40us the will of God. He can say, we are
- 31:42ambassadors for Christ God, as it were exhorting by us
- 31:47the words of Christ addressed to the apostles. He that
- 31:50heareth you heareth me Luke ten sixteen unquestionably apply above
- 31:54all else to Saint Peter and his successors. He therefore,
- 31:57who disobeys the Pope returns a deaf ear to whose
- 32:00admonitions cannot please God. Leo the thirteenth, the Pope at
- 32:05the time has repeatedly urged upon the faithful the frequent
- 32:08recitation of the Rosary. What is our duty in this respect? Well,
- 32:12we ought furthermore to be true and faithful to the
- 32:14Holy Father, for he is not only the head of
- 32:16the visible Church, but the rock whereon it rests those
- 32:19who cast off their allegiance to the See of Romes.
- 32:22The Greeks did in ten fifty three fall away from God. Yes,
- 32:26the Greek Orthodox Church. The Orthodox Church is in schism
- 32:30because they will not recognize the Pope. To them, whom
- 32:34we call schismatics, the words of God spoke to Samuel
- 32:38are accurate applicable. They have not rejected thee but me
- 32:43that I should not reign over them First Kings eight seven.
- 32:48We must also reverence the Pope. We know that it
- 32:50is Christ's will that should we should reverence his ministers
- 32:53as himself. Now, as the Holy Father is chief of
- 32:56christ ministers, the greatest respect is due to him. On
- 32:59this account, the title his Holiness is given to him.
- 33:03It is moreover our duty to assist the Pope by
- 33:05our prayers and oblations. The early Christians prayed for Saint
- 33:09Peter when he was in prison Act twelve five, and
- 33:12in the present day his successors are not free from persecution.
- 33:15Let us therefore follow the examples of the early Christians.
- 33:18The Pope has besides to provide for the main needs
- 33:21of the church, for the propagation of the Gospel, and
- 33:23he then lands for the maintenance of ecclesiastical institutions, et cetera.
- 33:27Thus he requires our pecuniary pecuniary assistance. It means we
- 33:32give money to the church and it's used, hopefully the
- 33:36right way. And requires it all the more since his
- 33:40temporary possessions have been wrested from him. You know, he
- 33:43say's taken about poverty. He has no money of his own.
- 33:46The alms collected for the Holy Father called Peter's pence.
- 33:49The Catholic Catholics are too apt to underrate or overlook
- 33:53the importance of contributing to this object. The enemies of
- 33:56the Church are wont to apply the epithet epithet from
- 34:00Montane to Catholics who are affirm adherents to the Holy See,
- 34:04to imply that they are wanting him patriotism because they
- 34:07recognize as their spiritual sovereign one who is beyond the
- 34:10mountains ultra montes. But as a matter of fact, good
- 34:15Catholics are good patriots. Origin says, the more Christian fears God,
- 34:19the more loyalty he has to his Emperor. Our duties
- 34:22to where our pastors are the same as towards the
- 34:24Holy Father. We are bound to contribute toward their support.
- 34:28The Lord ordered that they who preach the Gospel should
- 34:30live by the Gospel First Corinthians nine fourteen, and that
- 34:34the laborers worthy of his reward One Timothy five eighteen.
- 34:38Our duty toward the ruler of our country requires us
- 34:41to obey all just laws which are issued in his name,
- 34:45to be loyal to him, and to hold him in respect,
- 34:47and support him by our prayers, by the payment of taxes,
- 34:50and by military service if required by us. We are
- 34:53not only bound to obey the laws of the state
- 34:55because of the penalty incurred by disobedience, but also for
- 34:58consciousness sake, cause the commands of the secret authority are
- 35:02the commands of God Romans thirteen two five. Remember this
- 35:06was pre communism, so Father Sparaga was looking at from
- 35:11the perspective of kings ruling by the permission of God,
- 35:16not you know, evil communists, godless satanic regens that forced
- 35:22people into servitude and take their money and kill them,
- 35:26you know. But again, the laws have to be just.
- 35:30And you might say, well, now what about America. We
- 35:33rebelled against the British, are we wrong? Well, let's first
- 35:37remember that King Henry the Eighth rebelled against the Pope,
- 35:42making himself an illegitimate king. His only rule, his only
- 35:46authority come came from God through God's represented the Pope.
- 35:52And so it's pretty you know, you can think as
- 35:55being only right that the British, once great British Empire
- 36:00begin to fall apart under Protestantism, as they had already
- 36:03lost their authority. So let's see remember how willingly Joseph
- 36:09and Mary conformed to the decree of Augustus and journey
- 36:13to Bethlehem to be enrolled Luke two. But if the
- 36:16temporal power commands something which God forbids. We must recall
- 36:20to mind the Apostles' words we ought to obey God
- 36:23rather than Man Acts five twenty nine. The three Hebrew
- 36:27Youths and the Fiery Furnace, and the seven Maccabees who
- 36:30obeyed this precept. Likewise Saint Maurice and the theban Legion.
- 36:35We are, however, seldom called upon to do this in
- 36:38the present day. It is our bound in duty to
- 36:41be loyal to our ruler, especially in time of war.
- 36:44Soldiers are required to take the military oath. It is
- 36:47never allowed to revail against sovereign authority in the land.
- 36:50For whoso resists the higher powers resists the ordinance of
- 36:55God Romans thirteen one. We are to be subject not
- 36:59only of the good and gentle, but also the froward.
- 37:04It was like, not so good. I'm going to go
- 37:07with that. I cannot remember the definition of that word
- 37:09froward Verse Peter two eighteen. Bad rulers are generally sent
- 37:15by God as chastisement for the sins of a nation.
- 37:18If the monarch should be tyrannical, we must implore the
- 37:20help of God, and his help will be granted when
- 37:22the people forsake their evil doings. We are also to
- 37:25honor the ruler of our country. Fear God, honor the
- 37:29king Verse Peter, two seventeen. A king is spoken of
- 37:32as his majesty, and a royal reception is prepared for
- 37:35him wherever he goes. We ought more over to pray
- 37:38for our rulers. It is acceptable to God that prayers
- 37:41and supplications be made for all that are in a
- 37:44high station. It includes the bad ones. Yes, I do
- 37:47actually pray for Joe Biden, believe it or not, one
- 37:50Timothy two. Besides, prayer for our rulers brings a blessing
- 37:54on ourselves, for by it we obtain the passing of
- 37:57decrees beneficial for their people. At high mass, the priest
- 38:01praise for the sovereign ruler. Christ sanctioned the payment of
- 38:04taxes when he said, render to Caesar the things that
- 38:06are Caesar's Matthew twenty two twenty one. You could definitely
- 38:11make a big argument about the Okay, So if your
- 38:15tax dollars would be taken to pay for abortion, you know,
- 38:19or like in the Rose time, tax dollars taken to
- 38:24expand slave territory, you know, maybe you could give say
- 38:32it's not right to pay taxes in certain cases, but
- 38:38you're going to take the penalty of that if you do. Anyway,
- 38:43he paid for himself and Saint Peter the tax levied
- 38:45on every head for service to the temple. And in
- 38:48order to do so, he bade Saint Peter to go
- 38:51to the sea and cast a hook in the mouth
- 38:52of the first fish he caught, he would find a
- 38:54piece of silver required for the tax. Matthew, oh was
- 38:59that seventeen? It is only just that those who enjoy
- 39:03the peace and welfare, which is the object of government secure,
- 39:06should contribute towards the defraying of the expenses us in court.
- 39:10I have no problem for paying for roads and court
- 39:13systems when they're fair and you know all that, But
- 39:16your money's actually be taken to pay for something immoral.
- 39:19I don't think it's a bad thing to make every
- 39:23effort to legally reduce your tax burden. Let's just put
- 39:27it that way. Thus, the members of the body supply
- 39:30food to the digestive organs, which, whence nourishment is afforded
- 39:34to the whole. It is not right to frall the
- 39:36state and matters of taxation. Military service is required in
- 39:40some lands, as for the maintenance of the domestic peace,
- 39:43and for the protection of the country from foreign foes.
- 39:46Those who, in time of war offer their lives for
- 39:49their fellow countrymen receive a great reward from God. Our
- 39:52duty towards representatives of the sovereign are similar to those
- 39:55towards himself. Be subject to the King as excelling the
- 40:00governors is sent by him, for so is the will
- 40:02of God one Peter two fourteen. In addition to this,
- 40:06the citizens ought to assist their ruler in the governing
- 40:09of the country by choosing their representatives from men of
- 40:13experience and Christian principles. Not only the representatives of the people,
- 40:17but the electors of those representatives have a weighty responsibility
- 40:20in God's sight. Remember that when you go into the vote.
- 40:25Let's just say, Joe Biden's a really bad guy. Okay,
- 40:29Donald Trump's no choir boy. He's not perfect, but he's
- 40:33far more Christian. May not be Catholic, but his morals
- 40:38are far more in line with the teachings of the
- 40:40Catholic Church, and Joe Biden could ever hope to be.
- 40:42In fact, he is a heretic and an apostate. So
- 40:48the farmer are responsible for the laws they make, the
- 40:50latter for the men they choose to make the laws.
- 40:53In exercise of his civil rights is incumbent upon the
- 40:56citizens to obey the will of the Lord and God.
- 41:00He will one day have to answer for the manner
- 41:02in which he exercises that right. So if you go
- 41:05in and vote for a politician that supports abortion and
- 41:09transgendered stuff and as totally opposed to Christianity, you're gonna
- 41:13answer for it before God. So don't give me that
- 41:16crap that Joe Biden's a Catholic. You know we can
- 41:19vote for him. No, he supports killing babies. I mean,
- 41:24dou shalt not kill is the first, you know, one
- 41:27of the first few commandments. We really do take it seriously.
- 41:30He does not. Okay, let no one there assert that
- 41:35religion has nothing to do with politics. Statesmen, public functionaries, senators,
- 41:39members of Congress, cabinet officers will all have to give
- 41:42an account of every word they have spoken, every vote
- 41:45they have given, and electors will be responsible for the
- 41:49men they have returned to Congress or Senate. Consequently, they
- 41:52should elect men of experience, acquaintance with the law, and
- 41:55above all possessed of Christian principle, for those who are
- 42:01destitute of all religious beliefs cannot be expected to act
- 42:05conscientiously or adhere to their promises. And since matters closely
- 42:10connected with the essentials of religion are often the subject
- 42:13of debate, is the duty of Catholics to vote for
- 42:15such candidates as will act justly in dealing with the
- 42:18ecclesiastical question and have the interest of the Church at heart.
- 42:24If the Catholic, by giving his vote to a candidate
- 42:26who is hostile to the church, or by abstaining from voting,
- 42:29makes himself in part responsible for the success of that candidate,
- 42:33he has much to answer for. Catholic electors ought not
- 42:37to return as their representative one who is only a
- 42:40nominal but not practical Catholic Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Dick Durbin.
- 42:47We can go down the list who regard with indifference
- 42:50or contempt the teachings and ministers of the church. Before
- 42:53going to the ballot, they should ascertain the views of
- 42:55the candidate upon education, marriage, and observance of Sunday, etc.
- 43:00It is better not to vote all than to vote
- 43:02for one who is hostile to religion. It is, however,
- 43:05a duty to vote if thereby one man. It is, however,
- 43:10a duty to vote if thereby one can avert evil
- 43:13and promote what is good. Let no man say my
- 43:16vote is of no consequence. It might turn the scale,
- 43:19and if not, at any rate, it lessens the defeat
- 43:22of the non successful candidate. Those who are not entitled
- 43:25to vote ought to pray that the result of the
- 43:28election may be favorable to the cause of religion in
- 43:30the country. In general, I pray probably twenty times a
- 43:33day that Donald Trump be re elected. We need Republicans
- 43:36in there because they have morals and principles that are
- 43:38more in lign with us, even if they are not Catholic.
- 43:42Our Catholic politicians are often horrible. They are secuarists, they
- 43:48are modernists, the apostates, they are heretics. They are evil,
- 43:53evil people. We pray for them too, but we don't
- 43:57vote for him. He who grows offends against either the
- 44:01a classical, the ecclesiastical, or secure authorities has to expect
- 44:05severe chastisement of God on earth and punishment in the
- 44:09world to come. Corey and his companions, who rose against
- 44:13the Jewish priesthood were swallowed up the earth by the
- 44:16earth as an example to the people numbers sixteen. And
- 44:21that's when, you know, some of the Jews said, well,
- 44:24why does Moses get all the attention. We're Jews as well,
- 44:27and we can be priests. And God killed them in
- 44:30their entire families. So kind of a maybe a warning
- 44:34to people who would break away from the Catholic Church
- 44:37and form their own churches and call themselves Protestants. I
- 44:39don't know. Remember the deplorable fate of Absalom, who rebelled
- 44:43against his king, his father the king, and also that
- 44:47of Semi, who not only insulted King David, but disobeyed
- 44:51the mandate forbidding him to cross the book at CEDRN
- 44:54three kings two forty six high trees, and is now
- 44:57punished with a long term of imprisonment. They that resist
- 45:02the power, resist the ordinance of God, and purchased in
- 45:05themselves damnation Romans thirteen to two. This also under this
- 45:11also falls the duties of those who are an authority.
- 45:14The Christian ought not to strive after a position of
- 45:17authority which he is not confident to feel Ecclesiastes seven
- 45:21to six. In this respect, everyone may well take example
- 45:25by Moses. He did not aspire to the post of
- 45:28leader of the Hebrew people, but only assumed it when
- 45:31called by God to do so. In fact, at first
- 45:34he would not accept it, deeming himself too weak for
- 45:36its duties, and later on we're of the office, he
- 45:39desired to be relieved of it. Pope Gregory the Great
- 45:42fled to the forest when he heard they would probably
- 45:44be elected pope. Many eminent saints, such as Saint Ambrose
- 45:48and Saint Augustine, accepted the episcopal dignity most reluctantly. Yet
- 45:52all these men were unquestionably well qualified to fill the
- 45:55respective offices. How great is the presumption of those who
- 45:58strive to obtain some high post for which they are
- 46:02lacking the necessary strength and talents, and to which they
- 46:06are not called by God. Those who aspire to dignities
- 46:10to the duties of which they are unequal are like
- 46:12men who take the helm without knowing anything of navigation,
- 46:16or like those who load their shoulders with burdens heavier
- 46:19than they can carry. Our Lord can compare such persons
- 46:23as the thieves who force their way into the sheep
- 46:25fold John ten. But it is not wrong for one
- 46:28who feels himself competent to fill the duties of his posts,
- 46:32and knows that he may affect much good if he
- 46:35holds to it to endeavor to obtain it. A Catholic
- 46:39may aspire to the priesthood if he has a vocation,
- 46:43or to a place a on the governing powers of
- 46:45the land, if he possesses necessary qualifications. He who is
- 46:48called by God to fill some post of authority must not,
- 46:51on account, think much of himself, but rather consider the
- 46:55responsibility lay upon him. A man may be certain that
- 46:58he is called by God if an appointment is given
- 47:01to him without any effort on his own part to
- 47:03obtain it. When Saint Gregory the Great was sought after
- 47:06and his hiding place in the forest discovered by the populace,
- 47:09he no longer hesitated to accept the tiara, for he
- 47:12saw it to be God's will that he should do so.
- 47:15Saint Alfonsis did not refuse the see of Saint Agatho,
- 47:19and Pope Clement the thirteenth strongly urged him to accept it.
- 47:24Dignities are apparently conferred by the hand of man, but
- 47:28in reality is God who bestows him. Matthew twenty five
- 47:31point fifteen as a gardener guides the water of the
- 47:34spring whithersoever he will so. God influences the kings and
- 47:38princes to bestow their favors on those whom God has
- 47:42chosen to be the recipients. The heart of the king
- 47:45is in the hand of the Lord, as the divisions
- 47:47of water, whithersoever he will shall turn it. Proverbs twenty
- 47:53one point one. He is foolish to think more of
- 47:56himself on account of the dignity conferred upon him, for
- 47:59it makes no better in God's sight. Virtue alone gives
- 48:02man true worth and distinction. Earthly greateness, says Earthly greatness,
- 48:06says Saint Thomas. Aquinas is fleeting and short lived. Like smoke,
- 48:10comes quickly and quickly vanishes, it passes away like a dream. Virtue,
- 48:16on the contrary, brings everlasting glory. May or first here
- 48:19shall be last hereafter, and the last shall be first
- 48:23Matthew nineteen thirty. Herod was a king Mary and Joseph
- 48:26for ordinary people, but he was a bad man, whereas
- 48:29they were just and beloved of God. Mary and Joseph
- 48:32now feel glorious thrones in heaven. And where is Herod?
- 48:35Many who now? Many who now in the gloom of
- 48:39this life appear estimable and great will in the light
- 48:43of eternity. When the secrets of all hearts are disclosed,
- 48:46be seen to be evil and corrupt, A most severe
- 48:49judgment will be for those who bear rule wisdom six. Six.
- 48:54The higher the posts, the greater responsibility. This truth should
- 48:57make great ones of the earth humble and conscientious, thoughtful.
- 49:01God requires those who are in high places to hold
- 49:03their offices if they had it not. That is, they
- 49:06should regard it as only committed to their keeping for
- 49:09a brief period, and should be ready at any moment
- 49:11to give it up. Those who rule others ought to promote,
- 49:15as far as possible, the welfare of their subjects, and
- 49:17to treat them with impartiality and justice. As those who
- 49:20are set in authority over others, reflecting their person the
- 49:23power of God, they should take him as their model. Besides,
- 49:27they are his vice. I'm going to give up on
- 49:32that vice guarance. I'm gonna have look that up. When
- 49:35this is over here, we get it. We got another one.
- 49:41Plenty potentiary. The plenty potentiary of the Emperor would be
- 49:47full power. Yes, if my Latin is correct, plenty potentiary
- 49:52of the Emperor is bound in word indeed to conform
- 49:56to the instructions given him by his imperial master. If
- 50:00he acts on his own judgment, he is reprimanded. Governors
- 50:03ought above all to study in the welfare of their subjects,
- 50:06since this is the purpose of their appointments. The princes
- 50:09of the earth are God's ministers for the good of
- 50:11mankind Romans thirteen four. The commonweal, not the benefit of
- 50:16a single individual or of a few, ought to be
- 50:18their object, and should be there and should be ready
- 50:21generously to sacrifice their own interests for the good of
- 50:25their subjects. Christ, the good shepherd, laid down his life
- 50:28for his sheep John ten eleven. If a shepherd exposes
- 50:31himself to hardships and dangers for the sake of animals
- 50:34destined to slaughter, what ought not be done for immortal souls,
- 50:38who Christ redeemed with his blood, and for whom account
- 50:42must be given. Rulers ought moreover to be impartial and
- 50:46treat all without distinction, whether rich or poor, with equal kindness,
- 50:50with equal kindness, remembering there was no respective persons with
- 50:54God Romans two eleven. God made the little and the
- 50:58great and have the equal care of wisdom six ' eight.
- 51:01He frequently declares himself to be the helper of the
- 51:03needy and oppressed. The Lord is nigh under them who
- 51:08are contrite of heart from Psalms. The more destitute we
- 51:12are of human succor or help, the more God regards
- 51:15with us with mercy. Consequently, rulers ought to befriend the
- 51:19poor and lowly Isaiah one seventeen. Unfortunately, superiors are apt
- 51:24to think themselves justified in going to all links, so
- 51:27long as they do not overstep their powers. Some proud
- 51:31men imagine it to be below their dignity to treat
- 51:33their fellow men as brethren. They think they would thereby
- 51:36forget what was due to them. This is, by no
- 51:38means the case. Those who are in authority must be
- 51:41must beware of acting unjustly or of allowing themselves to
- 51:45be corrupted by bribes Exodus twenty three eight. They must
- 51:48not favor the rich and powerful, and be induced to
- 51:52give unjust judgments, as was the unhappy fate of Pilate.
- 51:57Fearful lest the Jews should accuse him to the Emperor,
- 51:59he sentenced our lord to death, though he knew him
- 52:01to be innocent. What he dreaded happened. He was accused, condemned,
- 52:06and banished to France, which was not a good place
- 52:09to be at that time. It really not a major,
- 52:13far outpost of the Roman Empire, not a very luxurious life.
- 52:20The curse of God rests upon those judges. Deuteronomy twenty
- 52:24seven nineteen Blessed Thomas Moore used to say that if
- 52:28his father, whom he dearly loved, came to him with
- 52:30a grievance, and on the other side was the devil,
- 52:32whom he hated more than words could say, provided the
- 52:35latter was in the right, he should have justice at
- 52:37his hands. No man should ever be condemned unheard. If
- 52:41anyone went to Alexander the Great with a charge against another,
- 52:44he used to close one ear, saying I give one
- 52:47ear to the accuser, and the other to the accused.
- 52:50Even God, who is omniscient, did not condemn Adam until
- 52:54he had heard his defense and proved his guilt. Those
- 52:59who are in high places ought to set a good example.
- 53:02The reason why sapiers are bound to set a good
- 53:04example was twofold. On the one hand, they occupy a
- 53:07conspicuous position all eyes are on them, like a city
- 53:10seated on a mountain that cannot be hid Matthew five
- 53:13point fourteen. Others imitate them, as is the judge, so
- 53:17are his Minister's Ecclesiastes tend to woe betide them if
- 53:21they lead an evil life. On the other hand, sappeers
- 53:24can affect much more by example than by precept. Deeds
- 53:28are more eloquent than words. Rulers ought to pray for
- 53:30their subject, like the husbandmen in the Gospel. They should
- 53:33entreat the Lord of the vineyard to spare the barren
- 53:35fig tree and leave it a year, and hope that
- 53:38with careful cultivation, it may be bare fruit. Passors are
- 53:42especially bound to pray for their flock and to offer
- 53:44holy sacrifice on Sunday and holy days for the living
- 53:47and the dead. See all that wraps up the fourth Commandment.
- 53:51We covered a lot of ground here, a lot of ground,
- 53:55A lot of it is a little difficult in our time.
- 53:58You know, honor your father and mother. I do the
- 54:02best I can. You know, my dad basically abandoned me
- 54:05when I was four, and later when he found out
- 54:07I converted to Catholicism, basically disowned me. So I give
- 54:11him the respect that's due. I say prayers for him,
- 54:13but he chose not to have a relationship with me.
- 54:17He did not teach me anything or provide much beyond
- 54:21what the law commanded. And I think he's on his
- 54:24fifth wife now has kids that I've never met, to
- 54:28whom he gave college educations and a lot of things
- 54:32he never gave me. So that can be hard. It
- 54:37can be a hard one for a lot of us.
- 54:39I get that when we get into the politics. You know,
- 54:42I've told you how I kind of wrestled with this.
- 54:45Was it right for our founding fathers, my ancestor Charles
- 54:49Carroll to rebel against the British government. But then we
- 54:52realized that, you know, King Henry rebelled against against the
- 54:58Catholic Church, so he lost his legitimate rule. There's a
- 55:03lot to think about, and you know, as I've said,
- 55:07I believe it is the duty of every not only Christian,
- 55:10every person of goodwill, you know, like I was talking
- 55:12about how we share certain values with Muslims and Jews
- 55:16and Buddhists and everybody. And among those first are you know,
- 55:20don't kill babies. That's you know, a big, big, big
- 55:24thing and Donald Trump's not perfect on that issue. But
- 55:27we've had all these so called Christian presidents who never
- 55:30did a single thing to overturn Roe v Wade. You know,
- 55:33George W. Bush would talk about how he's sow pro
- 55:35life and all this, and that Mike Pence would be
- 55:38another good example. Bush wouldn't even go to the March
- 55:41for Life. Donald Trump a bit of a scoundrel, sometimes
- 55:46good heart, and he's the only president that ever overturned
- 55:50Roe V Wade. He's against cutting children's genitals off, you know,
- 55:57he's against these laws that are punishing Christians for praying
- 56:03the Rosary outside of abortion clinics. He's not the best,
- 56:08but he's the best we got. And Biden, on the
- 56:11other hand, is a postate, heretic, an incredibly evil man.
- 56:16And we was talking about those in who are in
- 56:19office ought to, you know, give a good example by
- 56:21living good lives. I mean, he's taken millions from the Chinese.
- 56:25He sold our country out in every way, shape and form.
- 56:28Look at his crack addic pedophile son. That's the fruit
- 56:34of the vine, you know what I'm saying. Look and
- 56:36talk about, you know, being a little inappropriate. We've all
- 56:40heard about the Ashley Biden diary saying that he showered
- 56:43with his daughter and she felt she was basically sexually molested.
- 56:46And we've seen him. I mean he was on stage
- 56:49in front of cameras and what he grabbed a nine
- 56:52year old girl's breast. I mean, not a good man. Okay,
- 57:00I know he's no longer in the race, but Kamala
- 57:03she's even worse. I mean she's literally more radical than
- 57:09he is. To his left, and her running mate that Walls.
- 57:14I mean he's a pure communist. I mean he's taken
- 57:17thirty trips to China and no one can explain who
- 57:20paid for him. I mean he is an outspoken, legitimate,
- 57:24absolute communist and a total liar. I mean, there's are horrible,
- 57:29horrible people. So I mean, and we have a Christian
- 57:35duty to vote for the best option that's going to
- 57:37be the most in line with our morals and values.
- 57:40And I am begging you, get your friends, your family,
- 57:44get ten neighbors, go vote Donald Trump, Go vote for
- 57:47President Trump, Go vote for every Unfortunately, I have to
- 57:53say every Republican on the ticket. I thank god I
- 57:56don't have to vote for Tom Tillis. This cycle is
- 58:00worse than a Democrat, but we have to have Republican
- 58:04votes in the Senate. Lindsey Graham's another one. I'd put
- 58:06in that same category. I you know, I'd rather have
- 58:11a literal weasel, the animal. I would actually rather vote
- 58:17for a weasel than Lindsey Graham. And because I see
- 58:20a weasel is better than he is, Okay, but we
- 58:23got to have Republican votes. Look at the two the
- 58:25party platforms. Look at what the party platforms are. The
- 58:29Democrat platform, abortion, gay marriage, transgendered, anti Christian, anti freedom,
- 58:36and I mean institutionalized theft Republican platform, even as bad
- 58:40as Republicans can be, and there are many that are weasels, okay,
- 58:45and worse than that words I won't say in a
- 58:47Catholic podcast. There the party platform is much more in
- 58:53align with our values. So we don't have a choice.
- 58:57And pray to God, pray on your knees every day
- 59:02that Donald Trump's reelected or our country's lost, and we
- 59:05will be Christians who hold orthodox Christian values and doctrine
- 59:11will be essentially made illegal, like you're doing in Canada,
- 59:15where they will arrest a minister for saying that the
- 59:17Bible says homosexuality is a sin, you know, not good people.
- 59:23Not good people. So anyway, y'all remember the words of
- 59:27Saint Padre Pio, pray, hope and don't worry and I
- 59:30will talk to you next time.
