It was a public holiday in a small farming city. Thousands of people, many of them grandmothers, had waited for hours outside a stadium to see a free television concert. At about 5:40 in the evening, someone unlocked a single gate. Within minutes, eleven people were dead, crushed against the ground just steps from the entrance. Nobody planned to hurt anyone that day.
