- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and

- 0:43Hi. Adam here.
- 0:45And you're about to listen to a hypnosis session that is
- 0:49designed to break a habit. And it's a very specific habit
- 0:53of nail biting and nail chewing. And I was working with a very
- 0:58successful client that really took pride in their appearance
- 1:03and their standard of living. And the certain word that I knew
- 1:08would be an emotional leverage point for them was the word
- 1:11elegance. Because the one thing that
- 1:14didn't quite fit with their personality, their persona, and
- 1:18just the way they presented themselves was the chewing of
- 1:21the nails. And it was an automatic habit
- 1:23that they had had for many, many years.
- 1:26So in this hypnosis session, there is an element of
- 1:29disassociation away from the actual desire or thought of
- 1:35chewing an ale and then linking it to the idea of what they
- 1:40really are at their core. And they took pride in elegance
- 1:44and discernment. Elegance generally is high
- 1:46standards, and discernment is about making really good
- 1:49decisions. So those two things can
- 1:52inextricably be linked to that element of choosing not to chew
- 1:59their nails. Now, even though that was the
- 2:02habit of this particular client, the principles in this session
- 2:06are fairly universal at breaking any habits.
- 2:09If you have a habit that you don't want to have any more than
- 2:12this session might be really useful.
- 2:14But equally, there might be elements that aren't quite right
- 2:18in this one, because fundamentally, it's about
- 2:20chewing and biting nails. So if you do like the idea of
- 2:25working with me directly, there will be a link in the
- 2:27description where you can schedule a completely free
- 2:30consultation call to explore working with me, and then we can
- 2:33have a chat to see if I'm the right therapist to work with you
- 2:36and your specific habit that you might want to break.
- 2:39For now though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 2:42won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 3:25Take. A deep.
- 3:26Breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that slow,
- 3:33relaxing breath. And as you exhale, just release
- 3:39any tension around your eyelids so that with your eyes closed,
- 3:46your attention goes inward, to the sound of my voice and to
- 3:55your own thoughts. Just breathing in and breathing
- 3:59out, with each breath taking you deeper and deeper, relaxed as
- 4:09you allow your breath to find a new rhythm.
- 4:14Slow, long and deep breaths. That's it.
- 4:19Almost like you're breathing effortlessly.
- 4:22That's it. Slower and deeper with each
- 4:27breath taking you deeper and deeper, Relaxed.
- 4:40And the deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you become.
- 4:44And the more relaxed you become, the deeper you breathe, that's
- 4:52it, more and more relaxed, arms and legs feeling limp and loose
- 4:56and heavy. And I want you to use the power
- 5:01of your imagination to think of a comfy sofa and a footstool and
- 5:09just imagine how good it would feel to be in a relaxed,
- 5:16comfortable posture there on that sofa with that footstool.
- 5:23Breathe the way you would breathe if you were relaxed
- 5:26after a nice meal. Maybe ATV on in the background.
- 5:33Get to that place of comfort, relaxation, the kind of place
- 5:41where you do things without thinking.
- 5:47Your awareness drifts inwards. This is your time, A time for
- 5:55change, a time to reset an old pattern that doesn't align with
- 6:04who you really are. It's been an anomaly, an
- 6:11outlier, A contradiction to who you really are.
- 6:21As your body relaxes, your mind opens and awakens.
- 6:27As your imagination becomes more powerful, new ideas begin to
- 6:36take root. Ideas of refinement and
- 6:42elegance, of confidence and value.
- 6:47Ideas of admiration, not directed outward but inward.
- 6:57I want you to imagine how you would feel if you were given a
- 7:05difficult dilemma. I want you to imagine thinking
- 7:10of a very valuable watch. Maybe see it on your wrist.
- 7:19Just imagine some omnipotent force giving you a difficult
- 7:26decision. You either lose the watch or you
- 7:35lose all of your fingernails and they never grow back.
- 7:41Both are undesirable, but you have to choose one.
- 7:49And if you know what you would choose, let me know by nodding
- 7:52your head. And this is evidence that you
- 7:59value your fingernails to a higher level than something else
- 8:05that you value highly. And for a while, you've been
- 8:13treating unconsciously these valuable, precious things like
- 8:22they're worthless. But they haven't been worthless.
- 8:31There is someone in the world that has a valuable watch buried
- 8:39at the bottom of a drawer. Never worn, never cleaned, never
- 8:46maintained, never admired. But the value of that watch does
- 8:53not change just because the owner doesn't value it.
- 9:00The watch retains its value. And I want you to think that
- 9:08your nails have been underappreciated, and it's time
- 9:14to make up for that lost time, to give them all of that
- 9:19admiration and appreciation that they've been missing out on.
- 9:32I want you to think that that version of you that was chewing
- 9:37your nails, biting your nails, wasn't doing it because it felt
- 9:42so good. And that version of you wasn't
- 9:46doing it because you wanted to destroy something valuable.
- 9:51It was just a familiar behaviour that you were doing so often.
- 9:59It felt comfortable to do it again.
- 10:04But I want you to decide that version of you.
- 10:11It's time to update the way that you think of those nails and I
- 10:21want you to bring forward the version of you that appreciates
- 10:26your watch, is concerned, concerned for its safety.
- 10:36Allow that version of you to be the version in you that
- 10:41appreciates and admires your fingernails.
- 10:49From this moment forward, you begin to see your nails as they
- 10:54truly are. These are symbols of care,
- 11:03personal elegance, these biological jewels, precious
- 11:13entities. Your nails are now something to
- 11:18admire, to protect, to celebrate.
- 11:25Not just valuable, but precious. Like polished gemstones on the
- 11:32very tips of your fingers. Each one unique, each one
- 11:37precious, each one a part of your style and self respect.
- 11:45So now, whenever you have a thought or feel an urge to bring
- 11:52your nails up towards your mouth, you will do something
- 11:57new. You will pause and admire them,
- 12:05and maybe you gently rub your thumb across the surface of a
- 12:08nail, or notice the smooth curve, the shine, the elegance.
- 12:19And then, with a graceful motion, you return your hands to
- 12:24a position of elegance and comfort, maybe rested on your
- 12:30lap, or maybe interlocked within your fingers, gently held
- 12:36together but always relaxed and composed.
- 12:45And nails are something to admire and appreciate.
- 12:50And in those rare moments where an old behaviour, an echo, slips
- 12:57through the net, not a cause for frustration, this is an
- 13:04opportunity to update an old neural pathway, to create a new
- 13:10one. Because now the moment, and now
- 13:16it touches your lips or teeth. Imagine feeling A rush of
- 13:22concern, like a protective parent, as if something valuable
- 13:31is at risk because it is, as if you've bought something fragile,
- 13:42close to the point of breaking or losing valuable jewel.
- 13:52Feel that concern and then imagine checking it immediately.
- 14:04Has any damage been done? Are they OK?
- 14:08The concern is real because the concern is a reflection of the
- 14:14value. If you didn't value them, you
- 14:19wouldn't care, but you do. So imagine inspecting the nail
- 14:24with care, checking its condition, and then admiring
- 14:30either that nail or any other nail and returning it once again
- 14:36to its position of elegance and comfort.
- 14:43Each and every time you're doing this, you are activating and
- 14:51reinforcing an identity of elegance, grace and admiration.
- 15:04The very habit that used to frustrate you can now lead to
- 15:10gratitude, elegance and appreciation.
- 15:16And don't be surprised if you start to notice your nails
- 15:21getting healthier, getting longer, giving you even more to
- 15:28appreciate and admire. Maybe you'll feel a sense of
- 15:37momentum because the more you admire them, the more you value
- 15:41them. And the more you value them, the
- 15:44more you want to protect them, the more naturally concerned you
- 15:49will be for their look and style and health and condition.
- 15:59And I wonder if you could imagine seeing yourself six
- 16:06months from now, sat on a sofa in the evening and see yourself
- 16:14with stylish, elegant nails and see that they don't even get
- 16:23close to your mouth. Because even if they move by a
- 16:29small amount, observe yourself just checking their condition,
- 16:35admiring them and returning to that comfortable position.
- 16:42And then imagine you're in a social setting.
- 16:48In the same way that not everyone can admire a watch
- 16:51because they don't know enough about it, for most people your
- 16:56nails will be invisible. But I want you to imagine
- 17:02someone that knows what they're looking at maybe six or seven
- 17:07months from now, compliments you on your stylish, elegant nails
- 17:16and see your expression. A feeling of wow, this person
- 17:25appreciates what I appreciate. And you consider them to have
- 17:32refined, elegant tastes because they see what you see.
- 17:39And every time you admire your nails, you're moving towards
- 17:45that future until it becomes completely unconscious.
- 17:54It just happens all by itself. Nothing you need to do because
- 18:00it's being done for you. And if this future seems
- 18:05appealing, desirable and natural, let me know by nodding
- 18:10your head. That's it.
- 18:14Consider this a seed planted deep in your subconscious mind
- 18:18that is already taking root. When you plant a seed, you can
- 18:27check every now and then how it's progressing.
- 18:29But the seed is doing the growing.
- 18:36You don't need to make it do anything.
- 18:39It's doing it all by itself. All you're doing is helping it
- 18:44along. So it's time to return back,
- 18:49back to the present, feeling that an old version of you, the
- 18:57version of you that didn't value your nails, is no longer the
- 19:02right custodian for your nails. But the version of you that is
- 19:09able to look after a valuable watch is exactly the part that
- 19:15is able to look after your elegant, valuable nails.
- 19:22So when you return, you return with a shift in
- 19:26responsibilities. The most competent part for the
- 19:32job now has the job. So take a deep breath in, in
- 19:39through your nose, out through your nose.
- 19:41Wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 19:43Connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now count
- 19:48from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 19:52Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 20:00Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910.
- 20:03Wide awake. Wide awake.
- 20:06Wide awake. Thank you for listening to The
