- 0:18Speaker 3: To see the boys out there getting some work in.
- 0:20Speaker 4: You know, they're very excited to see dude.
- 0:23Speaker 3: Is that right? My god? There is? How's your music going?
- 0:27Speaker 1: How's your cousin? Maybe you'll recreate their podcast right there
- 0:32Speaker 1: in the stage.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Dude, have them do a podcast on dudes on stage
- 0:35Speaker 3: at the Hall of fay h Again, it is not
- 0:37Speaker 3: a great name. I don't tell you what to do.
- 0:39Speaker 3: I thought you hated that opinion. Okay, yeah, you don't
- 0:42Speaker 3: think that's a difference. You were mad at everybody.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I'm not mad. I'm just surprised, said I was surprised.
- 0:47Speaker 3: You said you were mad at the beginning, I said,
- 0:49Speaker 3: I was surprised. I think the quote was I'm upset
- 0:54Speaker 3: that they didn't think like me.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I thought that the fans would think the way I
- 0:59Speaker 1: was thinking. Say, okay, vinitary first, a difference between me
- 1:02Speaker 1: and you.
- 1:02Speaker 3: I don't tell people how they should think. This is
- 1:04Speaker 3: back to you requiring people to learn about the history.
- 1:07Speaker 1: You probably thought the SS minnow was a little fit.
- 1:10Speaker 4: That one I knew.
- 1:14Speaker 2: God. This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:17Speaker 5: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals by a Toyota
- 1:20Speaker 5: dot com.
- 1:23Speaker 1: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:27Speaker 1: at Jill's Stadium, and it's kind of a sad day
- 1:29Speaker 1: in Boston sports. And of course I'm talking about the
- 1:32Speaker 1: Tristan Cassas injury derailed the red flat no Celtics. I
- 1:43Speaker 1: was telling somebody today, I think it was you, Evan.
- 1:47Speaker 1: It doesn't approach seven when the Patriots lost to the Giants,
- 1:51Speaker 1: but if they lose to the Knicks in the series,
- 1:53Speaker 1: it'll come close.
- 1:55Speaker 4: It'll come close, and not even in the same stratif
- 1:59Speaker 4: that be a bigger upside.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, there's a bigger difference between the two teams.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Yep.
- 2:06Speaker 6: I mean, I know we don't want to talk Celtics,
- 2:08Speaker 6: but yesterday I was in the middle of just a
- 2:10Speaker 6: rager between all y'all going forward, and Paul was just
- 2:14Speaker 6: in his element, Like I've never seen Paul.
- 2:16Speaker 3: So excited as like he's facilitating arguments.
- 2:18Speaker 6: Left him right, He's on Fred's side, He's on Evan's side,
- 2:21Speaker 6: and Matt Smith, no socks comes in.
- 2:22Speaker 3: I was switching Allegiance, lighting everybody.
- 2:26Speaker 1: He was like, isn't this Greg, We're all arguing.
- 2:28Speaker 6: I love it so after I saw the result this morning,
- 2:31Speaker 6: of course, because I did not watch the game last night,
- 2:33Speaker 6: I was like, oh boy, we might be in for
- 2:34Speaker 6: it today, but so far so.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Like legitimately woke up this morning, I watched a little
- 2:39Speaker 3: won the game.
- 2:40Speaker 7: Well, I watched the little last night.
- 2:41Speaker 3: I thought twenty point leads were safe and I was like,
- 2:42Speaker 3: this is never gonna happen. Twice in the third quarter.
- 2:47Speaker 8: Evn't had a tweet. I sat there the same time
- 2:51Speaker 8: out down Eat.
- 2:51Speaker 4: I sat there in silence for the last like eighteen
- 2:55Speaker 4: minutes of the game time dead face, and at one
- 2:58Speaker 4: point Jess was like you alive and I was like
- 3:01Speaker 4: I can just feel it, like this is this year
- 3:04Speaker 4: comes the same movie again.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not surprised you you didn't watch, because I
- 3:08Speaker 3: know you don't really but you generally didn't know who
- 3:11Speaker 3: won it. Well until this.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Morning, I said, I wish I was more like that,
- 3:17Speaker 4: Like I wish I was deuced in this situation.
- 3:20Speaker 9: I really did.
- 3:20Speaker 3: I love I mean, I love watching.
- 3:23Speaker 7: I did watch a little bit.
- 3:24Speaker 3: I just I mean, I assumed that it would go
- 3:26Speaker 3: to plan, but it did not.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Yeah, I was actually mad last night. I was I
- 3:30Speaker 1: was like, this is ridiculous, this is so unnecessary.
- 3:34Speaker 8: I was mad the first time last night. I was
- 3:36Speaker 8: like the audacity of them things. They deserve it.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, okay, you know, uh Oklahoma lost and Cleveland lost,
- 3:46Speaker 1: like these things happened, but to do it again and
- 3:49Speaker 1: I don't care what the other teams did to do
- 3:51Speaker 1: it twice. Like I was angry.
- 3:54Speaker 8: I was angry and want a man basketball to this kid.
- 3:58Speaker 8: But oh shout out to the listener. I didn't get
- 4:00Speaker 8: into like any Twitter fights, but I was going back
- 4:02Speaker 8: and forth with it because I said that the Celtics
- 4:05Speaker 8: should just stop like throwing up these threes in the
- 4:08Speaker 8: first game, and some guy like quote tweeted me and
- 4:11Speaker 8: was like they would lose the game if they did that, FYI,
- 4:14Speaker 8: and like was just being lame. So I was going
- 4:16Speaker 8: back and forth with him, and he was just like,
- 4:18Speaker 8: the shots aren't They're just not falling, and I'm like, okay, yeah,
- 4:20Speaker 8: it has nothing to do with the Knicks defense, like
- 4:23Speaker 8: totally taking them at a tempo. But okay, but one
- 4:25Speaker 8: of our listeners was like, I need the sound drop
- 4:29Speaker 8: from pu here you know which one. I was like, yes,
- 4:32Speaker 8: I wish I.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Could just well, Anthony says, they just want to say
- 4:35Speaker 1: a shout out to Alex. She's been one of the
- 4:37Speaker 1: only people on Celtics Twitter who has been confident in them,
- 4:41Speaker 1: critical of them, and also gave props to the Knicks
- 4:43Speaker 1: rather than discredit them. Signed a Patriots and Knicks fan.
- 4:47Speaker 1: How can you be a Patriots, Oh Patriots a Knicks fan?
- 4:49Speaker 1: I thought he meant Celtics.
- 4:50Speaker 8: Well, people are like a delusional they really are, Like
- 4:53Speaker 8: the shots will fall eventually, the shots just starren't falling,
- 4:56Speaker 8: and it's like the Knicks were literally built to content.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Me eventually the next game. In this game, they're not falling.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Adjust and you.
- 5:03Speaker 8: Know you have bridges, you have heart, Nobly like they
- 5:07Speaker 8: are very elite wing defenders.
- 5:09Speaker 3: I'm not going to Man's playing anything because I don't
- 5:10Speaker 3: want to get yelled at by you. But this has
- 5:12Speaker 3: very little to do with the Knicks.
- 5:14Speaker 8: Very I disagree.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I disagree Jason Tatum's standing all by himself in the
- 5:18Speaker 3: corner to take a wide open shot for twenty minutes
- 5:21Speaker 3: to load it up and not even coming close to
- 5:23Speaker 3: making it. Has nothing to do with the Knicks.
- 5:25Speaker 1: But he don't get me on the rebounds. Of his
- 5:28Speaker 1: rebounds is everyone they take like twelve he gets credit
- 5:31Speaker 1: for that.
- 5:32Speaker 8: Tatum's like twelve for forty two, He's like for forty
- 5:36Speaker 8: something this series. That can't have nothing to do with
- 5:38Speaker 8: the Knicks. They're totally taken them out of their game.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Sixty three pointers in the last two playoffs. He ranks
- 5:46Speaker 3: fifty eighth.
- 5:47Speaker 8: And they need to play game.
- 5:49Speaker 3: They only play two games the move.
- 5:50Speaker 8: They need to run sets instead of settling for just
- 5:53Speaker 8: stupid three where they play and they should change that.
- 5:57Speaker 8: They should make adjustment.
- 5:58Speaker 3: I agree that he doesn't have anything to do with
- 6:00Speaker 3: the Knicks. It's it's how they play.
- 6:02Speaker 8: They've they've purposely built this team to defend the compete.
- 6:08Speaker 3: In the regular season, but come back from twenty point
- 6:10Speaker 3: deficits in the postseason like this is just.
- 6:12Speaker 8: Well, the Celtics are the more talented team and that
- 6:15Speaker 8: has allowed them to get out to these big leads,
- 6:17Speaker 8: but they're not executing. The Knicks are executing, and that's
- 6:20Speaker 8: why they're coming back.
- 6:22Speaker 3: It's well, when you miss fourteen shots in a row
- 6:25Speaker 3: in the fourth quarter. That's not defuse.
- 6:26Speaker 1: When you're that much better and you get a twenty
- 6:29Speaker 1: point lead twice in a row, there's something wrong with you,
- 6:33Speaker 1: not not, there's something good with them.
- 6:35Speaker 3: I give the rhythm.
- 6:38Speaker 8: The Celtics control the tempo when they play the way
- 6:41Speaker 8: they should be playing, and the Knicks have totally taken
- 6:45Speaker 8: that ability away from them.
- 6:46Speaker 1: All right, So the Knicks are a better team then.
- 6:48Speaker 8: No, I don't think that. I still think the Celtics
- 6:50Speaker 8: could win.
- 6:51Speaker 3: These teams aren't close and talent.
- 6:53Speaker 8: I still think the Celtics could win the series.
- 6:55Speaker 3: I do too, But they sound like this. We sound
- 6:58Speaker 3: like arrogant Boston fans. But they're not. These teams are
- 7:01Speaker 3: on close, the Celtics, they're the ball.
- 7:04Speaker 4: I mean they are quite early, the Celtics close. If
- 7:10Speaker 4: the Knicks have a two oh series lead, you can't
- 7:12Speaker 4: just say that the Celtics are.
- 7:14Speaker 3: So much better.
- 7:15Speaker 4: They're a better team.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Better.
- 7:17Speaker 8: Yeah, talent, they're not executing.
- 7:20Speaker 4: The usually not in that lead to go to the like,
- 7:24Speaker 4: especially over the course of a seven game series. You
- 7:26Speaker 4: don't see a ton of upsets happen in the NBA
- 7:28Speaker 4: because the better team over a seven game stretch is
- 7:31Speaker 4: gonna win four out of seven.
- 7:32Speaker 3: That's why I still think the Celtics will win. But
- 7:34Speaker 3: I'm not going to be stunned if they don't.
- 7:36Speaker 4: I mean it really just I know there's a lot
- 7:39Speaker 4: of people that like, have you know, the minutia conversations
- 7:42Speaker 4: of all these little details, and like if the Jays
- 7:45Speaker 4: don't play better, they're not going to win. Like it's
- 7:47Speaker 4: it's really that simple. I mean, like that's the sport. Like,
- 7:51Speaker 4: if they're your best players don't play better, they're not
- 7:54Speaker 4: gonna win. Like Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown in Game
- 7:57Speaker 4: one the second half for five for twenty two. They
- 7:59Speaker 4: were one for ten in the fourth quarter last night. Like,
- 8:01Speaker 4: if they play like that, they're they're not gonna win
- 8:03Speaker 4: the series.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Ye, all right, let's talk Patriots. Rookie mini camp is
- 8:09Speaker 1: getting going tomorrow tomorrow. We'll have access, so we'll be
- 8:12Speaker 1: out there and reporting what we see.
- 8:15Speaker 7: Yeah yeah, yeah, last year we did.
- 8:16Speaker 6: It was about an hour, little seven on seven, but
- 8:19Speaker 6: a lot of getting the rookies to understand how practice goes,
- 8:22Speaker 6: where we want you to be.
- 8:23Speaker 3: It's it's a lot of that stuff logistics.
- 8:26Speaker 1: It's not a real practice. Yea, it's not real practice.
- 8:28Speaker 1: It's in shorts. I think they're going to be inside
- 8:31Speaker 1: because it's going to rain, so rather than just you know,
- 8:35Speaker 1: being the elements, you want to like have you know,
- 8:39Speaker 1: an environment where you can teach and instruct and so
- 8:43Speaker 1: they're going to be inside tomorrow.
- 8:46Speaker 7: It's a lot more exciting.
- 8:46Speaker 6: Last year when you had a rookie Drake May, that
- 8:48Speaker 6: was the big thing because no matter what Drake May
- 8:50Speaker 6: was doing last year, you'd be interested.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Well, it's also just like even when they get into
- 8:53Speaker 4: seven on seven, no disrespect at all to Ben Woolridge,
- 8:56Speaker 4: but like we're not none of us are there to
- 8:58Speaker 4: watch Ben Woolridge. Whereas last year you had May, you
- 9:01Speaker 4: had Pulton Baker, like like they had.
- 9:04Speaker 3: A lot of like throw it to Kyle Williams just
- 9:06Speaker 3: we want to see Kyle Wims start to him.
- 9:08Speaker 4: J Wilcox, Right, Yeah, I mean usually they throw in
- 9:12Speaker 4: in the NFL, they throw in like one to seven
- 9:15Speaker 4: on seven, usually towards the end, just to like seeze everybody,
- 9:18Speaker 4: you know, players included. I'm sure it's.
- 9:20Speaker 3: Like, well Campbell's nobody, no sacks allowed.
- 9:22Speaker 7: It's gonna be great tomorrow for him.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Great start, no pressure, no pressure, right, So that'll be tomorrow, uh,
- 9:30Speaker 1: and then they'll also be practicing on Saturday.
- 9:34Speaker 6: Three day camp and then we should see not next week,
- 9:37Speaker 6: but the week after OTAs will start, so we'll get
- 9:39Speaker 6: ot as for three weeks before mini camp, so that'll
- 9:41Speaker 6: be full team access to I think it's so what
- 9:45Speaker 6: it's voluntary at that point still, right, so see who
- 9:47Speaker 6: we see, but I mean a little probably a little
- 9:49Speaker 6: bit more interesting because you have some vets there kind
- 9:51Speaker 6: of know what they're doing.
- 9:52Speaker 1: And then next week on Wednesday, the league is releasing
- 9:56Speaker 1: the schedule eight o'clock on NFL Network, So that'll be interesting.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it's uh.
- 10:03Speaker 6: I always think it's interesting to go back and after
- 10:05Speaker 6: the draft and look a little bit at the schedule
- 10:07Speaker 6: because it just changes a little bit. You see teams
- 10:09Speaker 6: now that you're going to see some you know, rookie
- 10:11Speaker 6: players that have changed some of the dynamics a little bit.
- 10:14Speaker 6: But the Patriots schedule, man, it is it's winnable. I mean,
- 10:18Speaker 6: it's just not a great schedule.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Well they're looking at us too, and they're saying, right,
- 10:21Speaker 1: our schedule it's winnable.
- 10:22Speaker 6: And it goes back to a Raable, I think said
- 10:24Speaker 6: when he got here, which was beat the bad teams,
- 10:27Speaker 6: you know, take advantage of bad football.
- 10:29Speaker 3: But you know the Steelers very different trade.
- 10:32Speaker 1: Of pickens over under primetime games too, and a hey.
- 10:36Speaker 3: I go under on that.
- 10:37Speaker 7: Yeah, if you said one and a hey, I might.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Go over on maybe a Thursday in the month.
- 10:42Speaker 1: You got to get a Thursday, right, so yeah you
- 10:44Speaker 1: have to have that Thursday.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah outside of the Thursday Thursday.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I think every team has to have a Thursday. Now.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Yeah, that's where I the schedule releases, where I pull
- 10:54Speaker 3: a deuce. What's that Thursday morning? I find out what
- 10:57Speaker 3: the schedule well.
- 11:00Speaker 7: Doing We're doing a video Thursday at eleven, so look
- 11:02Speaker 7: at it.
- 11:02Speaker 3: By then, I am, yeah, I get to do it. Okay.
- 11:07Speaker 4: He acts like we don't include him.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Don't. I don't.
- 11:11Speaker 3: In fairness, I don't act like you and Mike don't
- 11:13Speaker 3: include you.
- 11:15Speaker 4: Bring all the equipment, every next thing you have to come,
- 11:19Speaker 4: like like every other wake up check out.
- 11:22Speaker 8: They leave to radio without you, and I'm like, Paul,
- 11:25Speaker 8: you come on his.
- 11:27Speaker 3: Cross It's like he's got his glasses on.
- 11:29Speaker 7: He's in the crossrooms.
- 11:30Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm going to die the Crosshe of course,
- 11:35Speaker 3: that's that's a nine am.
- 11:37Speaker 6: But the point I was trying to make them going
- 11:38Speaker 6: way back was Steelers trading pickings. Uh, kind of the
- 11:41Speaker 6: big news of the last couple of days, which I'm
- 11:43Speaker 6: sure we'll get some calls about people.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Being that Mike do So trade you got to rid
- 11:47Speaker 3: the potential headaches. Well well, aside from clear, it's been
- 11:54Speaker 3: really interesting.
- 11:56Speaker 6: It's been really interesting seeing some of the history though
- 11:58Speaker 6: of the Steelers when they've traded away good wide receivers
- 12:01Speaker 6: and how their production has fallen off a cliff. So
- 12:04Speaker 6: it's a little bit of a buyer b You were
- 12:05Speaker 6: a kind of situation when they got rid of Antonio
- 12:08Speaker 6: Brown ju Ju And there's a number of examples that
- 12:11Speaker 6: people laid out, some more interesting than others.
- 12:13Speaker 3: I'm going to guess they left Emmanuel Sanders off that list. Ah, shoot,
- 12:18Speaker 3: I think he was on there though.
- 12:19Speaker 4: He was great.
- 12:20Speaker 3: Yeah he was.
- 12:20Speaker 2: He was.
- 12:23Speaker 3: Pittsburgh. Yeah with Peyton, So.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Is Rogers going to end up going to Pittsburgh.
- 12:28Speaker 4: That's what I'm like, to Pittsburgh. Yeah, and then why
- 12:34Speaker 4: just that's just what the tea leaves have been this
- 12:36Speaker 4: whole time, and why they didn't really draft a quarterback and.
- 12:39Speaker 7: To me getting rid of Pickens, like that's part of
- 12:41Speaker 7: the appeal.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Well, I think that they're actually going to it sounds
- 12:44Speaker 4: like it's gonna you know, Alan Wizard will come with
- 12:47Speaker 4: him because that's like his like Julian Edelman or whatever.
- 12:50Speaker 7: The excitement.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Yeah, And so they drafted Roman Wilson last year, who
- 12:56Speaker 4: had injuries his rookie season, but player I was high on.
- 12:59Speaker 4: I'm sure they're pretty high on him. So he plays
- 13:02Speaker 4: in the slot, Dk plays the outside, Lizard comes as
- 13:05Speaker 4: like the number three Aaron Rodgers at quarterback. I think
- 13:08Speaker 4: that's the plan. I'm not saying it's gonna work. I'm
- 13:10Speaker 4: just saying that's that's the plan.
- 13:12Speaker 3: I think it's an interesting year in Pittsburgh. You know,
- 13:14Speaker 3: I was listening to a Pittsburgh writer I think was
- 13:18Speaker 3: on a clip that they played it's the least talented
- 13:21Speaker 3: Pittsburgh team in like a decade on paper. You know,
- 13:24Speaker 3: you never know how it all unfolds, And people were
- 13:26Speaker 3: sort of going back and forth, are they trying to
- 13:28Speaker 3: tank or are they going to sign Rogers, which you know,
- 13:31Speaker 3: because it doesn't make sense that they made the move
- 13:33Speaker 3: for DK Metcalf and then gave him that contract if
- 13:35Speaker 3: you're looking to get say arch Manning or whoever next year,
- 13:40Speaker 3: and you know arch Manning doesn't even look like he's
- 13:42Speaker 3: going to be eligible next year anyway. But but then
- 13:47Speaker 3: you know, if they if they signed Aaron Rodgers, like
- 13:49Speaker 3: like Evan says, well, that's not tanking. So what exactly
- 13:53Speaker 3: are you doing? How you feel in the holes in
- 13:54Speaker 3: the roster if they do tell me eight nine t J. Watt,
- 13:59Speaker 3: if they're going to tank, do it right? Yeah, right,
- 14:01Speaker 3: get rid of guys.
- 14:02Speaker 6: But it's such a different I just have such an
- 14:04Speaker 6: impression of Pittsburgh as draft and developed kind of team,
- 14:07Speaker 6: not really a free agency made team.
- 14:09Speaker 3: In this year, it seems like that's the direction they're
- 14:11Speaker 3: going to.
- 14:11Speaker 4: It just be weird of the way that they ran
- 14:14Speaker 4: their whole offseason to not have the Rogers move in
- 14:16Speaker 4: the back pocket and they drafted Will Howard in the
- 14:19Speaker 4: sixth round. That's not that's not a move at quarterback.
- 14:22Speaker 4: So I would imagine that that's where this is headed.
- 14:25Speaker 4: But we'll see. I don't know, I know, you know it. Pickens,
- 14:29Speaker 4: he's one of those guys. He's a volatile guy. You know,
- 14:32Speaker 4: he's a really talented player.
- 14:34Speaker 3: You can see both sides of that argument. Keeping him
- 14:36Speaker 3: and training him might totally understand what would cause you
- 14:39Speaker 3: to do both.
- 14:40Speaker 4: Well.
- 14:40Speaker 6: When you have a confidence that you've developed receivers consistently
- 14:43Speaker 6: in the past, you might here a little bit more
- 14:45Speaker 6: apt to be willing to part with him than if
- 14:47Speaker 6: you've been in the wilderness looking for a number one
- 14:49Speaker 6: ride receiver since Randy Musselow.
- 14:52Speaker 1: I mean, they have this streak of you know, uh
- 14:54Speaker 1: seasons you know, not below five hundred. Yeah, Like do
- 14:57Speaker 1: you think that's important to them?
- 14:58Speaker 4: One percent? Yeah, I'm sure that's important to Tomlin. Like
- 15:03Speaker 4: I just I can't imagine Pittsburgh going in the tank ever,
- 15:07Speaker 4: like because of that, you know, they I just don't
- 15:09Speaker 4: see them as a team that Willever truly reset and
- 15:13Speaker 4: Paul Shows like to say they're they're the Bruins of
- 15:16Speaker 4: the NFL. And I feel the same way about them
- 15:19Speaker 4: as I always did, Like the Bruins were always just
- 15:21Speaker 4: gonna make the playoffs, right, you know, be above five hundred.
- 15:25Speaker 4: We're happy with that. That's that's the Steelers.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of reminds me. I mean I don't
- 15:32Speaker 1: think they're certainly not on the same part. But when
- 15:35Speaker 1: the Patriots signed Cam what's his name, Cam Newton, it
- 15:40Speaker 1: was like, Okay, let's let's bring in this guy and
- 15:43Speaker 1: stay competitive, you know, rather than just kind of let
- 15:47Speaker 1: the bottom flam out.
- 15:48Speaker 3: That's I think that's yeah, that's accurate. So it's a
- 15:52Speaker 3: good comparison that season.
- 15:55Speaker 6: Yeah, just to me, I mean, I have a lot
- 15:57Speaker 6: of respect having gone through the downs now last cup years,
- 16:00Speaker 6: just for a team to and even I know how
- 16:02Speaker 6: frustrating it must be for a fan base to be
- 16:04Speaker 6: stuck in that middle and not ever be able to
- 16:07Speaker 6: kind of really feel like your favorites but never feel
- 16:09Speaker 6: like you're at the bottom. But I do respect continued
- 16:12Speaker 6: competitiveness because even the coaching staff didn't change here in
- 16:15Speaker 6: twenty to twenty two and twenty three, and it's still
- 16:19Speaker 6: continued to you know, fall apart, and the way they've
- 16:22Speaker 6: held it together is impressive. I mean, I think we
- 16:24Speaker 6: all are more impressed with Mike Tomlin having seen Antonio
- 16:27Speaker 6: Brown up close. We talked about that, like, man, he
- 16:29Speaker 6: kept him on the straight and narrow for a while
- 16:31Speaker 6: and he's kind of done.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Maybe that maybe we'll see the same thing with George Pickens.
- 16:34Speaker 3: Maybe George Pickens that.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Fan base is getting a little bit impatient, Yeah.
- 16:37Speaker 4: As I should.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Well Tom Yeah, Tom will was on the hot seat
- 16:41Speaker 3: last year. Yeah, well, people were tired of this.
- 16:44Speaker 1: In terms of the public. I don't know if like
- 16:47Speaker 1: the Rooneys put him on the hot seat, but the
- 16:49Speaker 1: public put him.
- 16:50Speaker 4: But it's hard because like he pulled.
- 16:51Speaker 3: The trigger on a guy that you know is respected.
- 16:54Speaker 4: Yeah, but like if you're in purgatory like that, like
- 16:57Speaker 4: you're never in a position to really get those blue
- 16:59Speaker 4: chip players at the top of the draft that could
- 17:02Speaker 4: turn the tide. Like you're you know, they got drafted
- 17:04Speaker 4: Ben Roethlisberger and and we're a good team for a
- 17:08Speaker 4: very long time with him. Like they're not drafting high
- 17:10Speaker 4: enough to get the next Ben Roethlisberger. So it's just
- 17:13Speaker 4: like at some point, you know, either you need to
- 17:16Speaker 4: make a massive trade up in the draft and really
- 17:18Speaker 4: make a splash move during the draft, or you have
- 17:21Speaker 4: to stink.
- 17:22Speaker 6: Yeah, for the quarterback position, like how are they going
- 17:24Speaker 6: to fill the quarterback position? That's where we were a
- 17:26Speaker 6: couple of years ago, like trying to figure out not
- 17:29Speaker 6: only do you have to probably get into the top five,
- 17:30Speaker 6: but you have to have the right draft where there
- 17:33Speaker 6: are a number of.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Prospects that could possibly fall to you that you like so.
- 17:37Speaker 1: And having that guy, that franchise quarterback makes it so
- 17:41Speaker 1: much easier to do everything else.
- 17:43Speaker 6: And if Rogers comes, what you know, what do you
- 17:44Speaker 6: what do you say? Like, well, he's one or two
- 17:46Speaker 6: years hopefully good? Yeah, but you know, I mean, I
- 17:49Speaker 6: guess in a way, if it all falls apart for.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Him, then that's what they say.
- 17:53Speaker 6: But he should be good enough, you would think to
- 17:55Speaker 6: keep them out of the range for I think there's
- 17:58Speaker 6: a few good quarterbacks next year other than just arch Manning.
- 18:02Speaker 3: Who do you guys?
- 18:03Speaker 7: You guys convinced arch Manning is like legit.
- 18:06Speaker 1: I don't know what.
- 18:07Speaker 3: He's very talented, I mean that, Yeah, I'm reasonably convinced
- 18:10Speaker 3: on the talent, but he hasn't played enough so no one,
- 18:12Speaker 3: no one can tell that. But I'm not convinced he's
- 18:15Speaker 3: gonna leave even if he has a great year. I
- 18:17Speaker 3: think that it would go kind of sort of to
- 18:19Speaker 3: what the Mannings do.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Yeah, but he can get paid big time to stay,
- 18:23Speaker 4: but then ill and he doesn't need it. Yeah, but
- 18:25Speaker 4: he's uh. I think the biggest difference between him and
- 18:28Speaker 4: and he's mobile. You know, he can run. He's a
- 18:31Speaker 4: he's a dual threat. He's not he's not payton an Eli.
- 18:34Speaker 4: He's not a statue.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Because Archie was a scrambler.
- 18:37Speaker 4: Yeah, he's like like like Archie yep, one hundred percent.
- 18:41Speaker 4: So he's got tons of talent. You know the games
- 18:43Speaker 4: that he did play in last year when they let him,
- 18:45Speaker 4: you know, play kind of against like Bimigie State or
- 18:48Speaker 4: whatever the heck it was. In that game, Uh, he
- 18:50Speaker 4: played really well, but there was a clear talent gap
- 18:53Speaker 4: across the roster and those in that game. So it's
- 18:56Speaker 4: not just him, but uh, he's you got all the tools,
- 19:00Speaker 4: but he's he's never really done it. So we'll see.
- 19:02Speaker 4: I mean, it doesn't to me, it doesn't bode particularly well.
- 19:05Speaker 4: And I get that maybe there was promises made and
- 19:07Speaker 4: all that kind of stuff, but like quin YOUWRS stinks,
- 19:10Speaker 4: And they continued to run quin Yours out there last
- 19:13Speaker 4: year with arch Manning on the bench, Like if arch
- 19:16Speaker 4: Manning was really this like prodigy you know, Andrew Luck,
- 19:20Speaker 4: Trevor Lawrence, like they're not playing Queen Yours and in
- 19:23Speaker 4: big time playoff games and stuff like that. So that
- 19:26Speaker 4: does give me a slight pause unless there was some
- 19:29Speaker 4: sort of handshake agreement that Quinn Yours wasn't going to
- 19:32Speaker 4: get benched.
- 19:33Speaker 3: But it's possible. It is what happened to Brady, Right,
- 19:39Speaker 3: everybody said, why is this other guy playing? Is this
- 19:42Speaker 3: hot shot recruit Drew Henson? Yeah, you got to get
- 19:44Speaker 3: him in there, you know, like quin Yours was the
- 19:47Speaker 3: number one recruit in football when he came out. I
- 19:49Speaker 3: agree with Evan. He's a seventh round pick. You know,
- 19:52Speaker 3: I think he's very where do you live, very average Miami?
- 19:56Speaker 4: Maybe? Yeah he is bad, Yeah he's bad.
- 19:59Speaker 3: Bad is probably be strong, But I mean he's a
- 20:01Speaker 3: seventh round pick. You know, he played behind a guy
- 20:06Speaker 3: who went the seventh round. What did Rex Ryan say
- 20:09Speaker 3: about Mac with the pea shooter? That that that's Queen yours.
- 20:13Speaker 3: He's got a little squirt gun. You know, there's a
- 20:16Speaker 3: little more mobility.
- 20:17Speaker 4: That's quin years.
- 20:19Speaker 3: But anyway, can't I can't argue. I don't think qu
- 20:22Speaker 3: that's yours and it's got a little squirt gun.
- 20:25Speaker 1: All right, Well, last show, we we uh talked a
- 20:28Speaker 1: lot about Hall of Fame. We have some emails that
- 20:30Speaker 1: came in about that Tyler from Ludlow responding to Tuesday Show,
- 20:36Speaker 1: I feel like I have to step in to defend
- 20:39Speaker 1: Goskowski as being a team Hall of Fame or already
- 20:41Speaker 1: in the team Hall of Fame are the team leaders
- 20:43Speaker 1: in passing, rushing yards and touchdowns receiving yards. Gronk will
- 20:48Speaker 1: be in there soon for touchdowns, interceptions, force fumbles, and sacks.
- 20:51Speaker 1: If a player retires as the clear leader in points
- 20:54Speaker 1: vinitarius second with more than six hundred points separating them,
- 20:58Speaker 1: they should be in the Team Hall of Fame. Not
- 21:00Speaker 1: saying he needs to be first ballot, but he is
- 21:02Speaker 1: well deserving of a spot in the hall.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Agree or not disagree?
- 21:08Speaker 1: I disagree to.
- 21:09Speaker 6: I mean, I think a lot of those points were
- 21:10Speaker 6: tied directly to some of the highest scoring offenses in
- 21:13Speaker 6: NFL history as well. So you know, if you want
- 21:15Speaker 6: to maybe break it down like by kicks, I mean,
- 21:18Speaker 6: I think that'd be interesting just to look at generally
- 21:20Speaker 6: take some of the extra points kicks, but he really get.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Good nothing, it's nothing. Yeah, of his career, he was
- 21:29Speaker 3: a really good kicker. Hard being in the shadow of
- 21:32Speaker 3: the kicks the vinitarian I.
- 21:33Speaker 4: Would say, like the fact that he took over so
- 21:35Speaker 4: seamlessly for Vinitary was impressive, probably the most Like that's
- 21:39Speaker 4: big shoes to Phil to come after Vinitarian, and he
- 21:43Speaker 4: really didn't miss much of a beat. But to douce
- 21:45Speaker 4: his point, like how many of those points were nineteen
- 21:48Speaker 4: yard extra points because they were, you know, scoring forty
- 21:51Speaker 4: points a game, and he's coming in and kicking the
- 21:53Speaker 4: old pat's not the new one like the one from
- 21:56Speaker 4: nineteen yards. But I also have a like an issue
- 21:59Speaker 4: in general with like he's the franchise leader in points. Well,
- 22:04Speaker 4: the way that they calculate that every team's franchise leader
- 22:08Speaker 4: in points is a kicker, right, right, because much yeah,
- 22:11Speaker 4: because you don't get points for like throwing touchdowns, So
- 22:16Speaker 4: like everybody's franchise leader is a kicker.
- 22:19Speaker 8: So like is that like whoever plays the longest?
- 22:21Speaker 3: Right?
- 22:21Speaker 4: Is that like a great like that some great accomplishment.
- 22:24Speaker 3: And I would also say that in general terms, I'd
- 22:26Speaker 3: be against a kicker being in a Hall of Fame
- 22:30Speaker 3: unless he's special. Adam is special for obvious reasons, like
- 22:35Speaker 3: Kestowski was one of, as Evan said, thirty two guys
- 22:40Speaker 3: who lead their team in points, like because that's what
- 22:43Speaker 3: kickers do some of them separate themselves with what they do,
- 22:47Speaker 3: you know, in the clutch.
- 22:48Speaker 1: So if Justin Tucker hadn't had his off field stuff,
- 22:51Speaker 1: would he.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Be Justin Tucker? To me, would be an exception purely
- 22:56Speaker 3: taking the personal stuff away.
- 22:58Speaker 4: I think Justin Tucker has a chance. He has to
- 23:00Speaker 4: be in the.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Profrole football Hall of Fame caliber kicker he is. Okay, now,
- 23:04Speaker 3: he's probably never going to see it for obvious reasons. Now, yep,
- 23:08Speaker 3: he was. He was different, you know, Jason Hansen from Detroit.
- 23:13Speaker 3: You know, like there's some guys that are a little
- 23:15Speaker 3: bit different, and they then they make every important kick
- 23:18Speaker 3: for their team and you remember the big moments. Other
- 23:22Speaker 3: guys compiled.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Jordan and Kansas. Who do you think will be entered
- 23:26Speaker 1: into the Patriots Hall of Fame first? Devin mccordy, Wes
- 23:28Speaker 1: Welker or Matthew Slater. Also keep doing the player interviews.
- 23:32Speaker 1: They're fun and they seem relaxed with you guys. So
- 23:35Speaker 1: who gets in first, mccordy, Welker or Slater.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Mccordy, Yeah, I would say mccordy.
- 23:41Speaker 1: It should be Welker.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Yeah, but it won't be Yeah, because you dropped a pass.
- 23:46Speaker 6: Those are really interesting names to consider, though, I wonder
- 23:49Speaker 6: how the fan base feels about I know they love
- 23:52Speaker 6: those guys, but is it the overwhelming love still for
- 23:55Speaker 6: Matthew Slater that you may or may not think he
- 23:58Speaker 6: does have.
- 23:58Speaker 8: You know what I'm saying, I can't get all the better.
- 24:00Speaker 8: Like Slater was such a great leader guy, right, but
- 24:03Speaker 8: he's still a special teamer right at the end of
- 24:05Speaker 8: the day, which is very unique. But Devin kind of
- 24:07Speaker 8: had all those leadership qualities but was all right.
- 24:10Speaker 6: But like what's interesting to me is and I don't
- 24:12Speaker 6: mean this is it, like Devin McCarty's outstanding player, but
- 24:14Speaker 6: I think we talk a lot about him being not
- 24:16Speaker 6: having those signature moments, almost like Gostowski, you know, like
- 24:19Speaker 6: what's your favorite Devin McCarty play, Like him returning the
- 24:22Speaker 6: interception in twenty eighteen and Buffalo like like you know,
- 24:26Speaker 6: in three Miles and again, like I don't mean to
- 24:28Speaker 6: the key was key to making everything run on the
- 24:31Speaker 6: back end.
- 24:31Speaker 7: But again, it's like you.
- 24:33Speaker 6: Talk about Welker, there's a place that you can talk
- 24:36Speaker 6: about good and bad, but you know, with Slater and mccordy,
- 24:38Speaker 6: it's hard to like what's their highlight?
- 24:41Speaker 3: What did their highlights look like?
- 24:43Speaker 10: Well?
- 24:44Speaker 4: I could get some highlights of Gunner tape.
- 24:46Speaker 6: Yeah right, I know it's like nobody's But do the
- 24:48Speaker 6: fans appreciate yeah?
- 24:49Speaker 3: You know, like do the fans love mccorty as much
- 24:51Speaker 3: as we think they do? I don't know.
- 24:53Speaker 4: I feel like Devon is the perfect team Hall of
- 24:56Speaker 4: Fame guy though, right, Like, you know, I held on
- 24:58Speaker 4: and off the field like perfect Patriot and you know winner,
- 25:03Speaker 4: you know as the rings like I agree, you know,
- 25:06Speaker 4: at his peak, was he a top five safety in
- 25:10Speaker 4: the league? Like maybe, but he was never Earl Thomas
- 25:13Speaker 4: right like, he was never like the best safety in
- 25:15Speaker 4: the league. It's not probably not a Pro Football Hall
- 25:17Speaker 4: of Famer, but a Patriots all Like that's that's what
- 25:20Speaker 4: the Patriots Hall of Fame is forced but.
- 25:22Speaker 3: At a high level for a long time and did
- 25:24Speaker 3: it right on and off.
- 25:26Speaker 6: I guess what I'm just speaking to more is the
- 25:28Speaker 6: unknown quantity of having fans vote and how the fans
- 25:31Speaker 6: really feel about guys, and you get into a little
- 25:33Speaker 6: bit more of a popularity contest.
- 25:35Speaker 1: I put mccordy a little with Matt White, like they're
- 25:38Speaker 1: the same. Yeah, yeah, sure, Like you know, they came in,
- 25:44Speaker 1: they finished their career, they were solid throughout their careers.
- 25:48Speaker 1: To me, both of them don't get it. You know,
- 25:51Speaker 1: that's just the way I am.
- 25:54Speaker 4: I also think Devin Will, you know, he's still in media,
- 25:56Speaker 4: he's still active, you know, in that side of things,
- 26:00Speaker 4: following you.
- 26:00Speaker 3: I think that's Mike's point, right, you got to mobilize
- 26:03Speaker 3: the troops to vote.
- 26:04Speaker 4: I'm sure that they might.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Jeff in Canada. If you don't like the Hall of
- 26:08Speaker 1: Fame order who should be in first situation, then blame
- 26:12Speaker 1: the ballot. I voted for Edelman because he was the
- 26:15Speaker 1: best Patriot player on the ballot. Adam will get in
- 26:18Speaker 1: when he's running against lesser players. Edelman played offense, punt return,
- 26:22Speaker 1: and even cornerback for a game, Vinitaria played about five
- 26:25Speaker 1: percent of the snaps ps will Jordan be allowed to come?
- 26:28Speaker 1: For Bill Belichick Knight? Of course she's gonna run down there.
- 26:35Speaker 1: We're gonna be following her orders, So of course she's invited.
- 26:40Speaker 1: I hear what he's saying. But in this case, Vinitaries
- 26:44Speaker 1: five percent were incredible, you know.
- 26:48Speaker 3: I just because it was like this unique situation where
- 26:52Speaker 3: Edelman how to play. Some snaps had safety one year.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Shouldn't like tip the scales.
- 26:58Speaker 7: I mean ary tax herschel Walker too.
- 27:02Speaker 3: And he threw a touchdown pass? Does that count?
- 27:05Speaker 4: That was a good touchdown pass too.
- 27:06Speaker 3: I shooped him. If you think gentlemen's a better player,
- 27:10Speaker 3: which is what he started with, that's I think that's
- 27:13Speaker 3: a perfectly logical reason. I think he was the best
- 27:16Speaker 3: Patriot on the ballot. That's why he picked Edelman. I
- 27:18Speaker 3: like that the reasoning. I'm not necessarily sure it makes.
- 27:21Speaker 1: A lot of sense, Roberts says. While I am disappointed
- 27:24Speaker 1: that Jewles made it to the Patriots Hall of Fame
- 27:26Speaker 1: over Adam, I find it far more upsetting that Adam
- 27:29Speaker 1: didn't make the NFL Hall of Fame on the first ballot.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Jewles is a self made success story, having entered the
- 27:35Speaker 1: league as a QB and exiting as a Super Bowl
- 27:37Speaker 1: MVP at wide receiver. He represented the heart of the Patriots,
- 27:40Speaker 1: and maybe more so than any other during his second
- 27:43Speaker 1: dynasty run. Watching his development over his career was inspirational.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Adam's stats, clutch performances, and longevity put him in the
- 27:51Speaker 1: top tier for best in NFL history. The recency bias
- 27:54Speaker 1: cost him a first ballot for the Patriots Hall of Fame,
- 27:57Speaker 1: but I will forever die on the hill that he
- 28:00Speaker 1: was a lock for a bust in Canton on the
- 28:02Speaker 1: first ballot. I planned to be front and center at
- 28:05Speaker 1: the ceremony when the NFL writers finally decide to pull
- 28:08Speaker 1: their craniums out of their collective arses and fix this
- 28:12Speaker 1: egregious error. Ps. Will we ever hear how the vote
- 28:15Speaker 1: totals for Jewels, Adam, and Logan turned out?
- 28:18Speaker 3: I know them, but you won't hear that we do
- 28:22Speaker 3: not make that public?
- 28:23Speaker 1: Well, we don't.
- 28:24Speaker 3: I don't think we've ever made that public.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Oh really, I could say, if you want it right now, Yeah,
- 28:30Speaker 1: I could say that it wasn't as close as I
- 28:33Speaker 1: thought it would be.
- 28:36Speaker 3: I mean, it's not surprising.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I would say in political terms it was a landslide,
- 28:41Speaker 1: although I'll say it was thirteen percent difference between Adam
- 28:45Speaker 1: and Jules.
- 28:48Speaker 6: It goes back to what I said earlier. Mean, Jewels
- 28:49Speaker 6: got a huge post career following. He's got a podcast,
- 28:53Speaker 6: he's got and the fans love him. I mean, he's
- 28:55Speaker 6: made huge plays.
- 28:56Speaker 8: It's the time they played too like Twitter was catching on,
- 29:00Speaker 8: Instagram was catching on. Edelman really got to reap the
- 29:03Speaker 8: benefits all of all that, and he really put himself
- 29:05Speaker 8: out there, you know. And I think it's a lesson
- 29:08Speaker 8: in like the importance of branding and marketing yourself while
- 29:10Speaker 8: you have that window and you're still playing.
- 29:12Speaker 6: It's funny I say that out because I honestly think
- 29:15Speaker 6: I've seen it a bunch of times. So many people
- 29:16Speaker 6: sign up for Twitter in April of two thousand and nine.
- 29:18Speaker 8: I had my fourteen year anniversary the other day.
- 29:21Speaker 6: I know I was in April two thousand and nine,
- 29:22Speaker 6: but I just see a lot of people shouted that,
- 29:24Speaker 6: like because that's and that was right when Jewels got drafted.
- 29:26Speaker 1: So I mean, what was going on April two thousand.
- 29:29Speaker 3: And Twitter was coming to the celebrities.
- 29:31Speaker 7: I was coming to the forefront.
- 29:33Speaker 1: And then you went on, yeah, well you were you
- 29:35Speaker 1: said you were celebrity.
- 29:36Speaker 3: I forget exactly, Well, you were only six years old,
- 29:39Speaker 3: probably I was.
- 29:40Speaker 8: I think I was like, it was high school, but
- 29:43Speaker 8: you're old. I don't I was in high school, early
- 29:47Speaker 8: high school. But I don't remember what the exact motive
- 29:49Speaker 8: was to sign up. I know some of my friends,
- 29:51Speaker 8: like and Nick for example, like got on because there's
- 29:54Speaker 8: like a video game promo that they were pushing people
- 29:57Speaker 8: Twitter early on.
- 29:58Speaker 6: So I remember my little sister to me and I'm like, what,
- 30:01Speaker 6: like you just post like one hundred It's just a
- 30:03Speaker 6: little sentence, and I'm like for what?
- 30:05Speaker 3: Like who? I just didn't complaint? Doesn't go back and
- 30:09Speaker 3: find all these things. But I'm sure that fred Andy
- 30:12Speaker 3: and myself had a colossal rip fest on Twitter when
- 30:16Speaker 3: it first it's gonna be.
- 30:21Speaker 1: I was at an NFL conference question and the guy
- 30:23Speaker 1: from the Chargers, like, my peer, this is when it
- 30:25Speaker 1: first started. He's like, oh, sign up with Twitter. We
- 30:27Speaker 1: can d M.
- 30:36Speaker 3: But I wanted to.
- 30:38Speaker 1: When these first started out, it was Facebook and Twitter.
- 30:41Speaker 1: Yeah I like Twitter better, Yeah I did. I didn't
- 30:44Speaker 1: like Facebook from the get go.
- 30:46Speaker 8: Did we have a team my Space?
- 30:48Speaker 3: I was on my the o G. I don't think
- 30:51Speaker 3: we ever had a team.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Remember how you could like rank your friends.
- 30:54Speaker 8: You could rank your friends, you would have your favorite
- 30:57Speaker 8: songs and oh.
- 30:58Speaker 4: Yeah it's step that.
- 31:00Speaker 8: Was the first one.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Yeah, no, I know what my Space was. I never
- 31:03Speaker 3: had an account, but I think that you were too
- 31:05Speaker 3: young to do.
- 31:06Speaker 4: No that was right now, right, in our wheelhouse.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Space didn't monitor, even though that's what the four you
- 31:13Speaker 3: tried to align yourself.
- 31:14Speaker 4: I'm ninety four, yeah years, she's two years younger.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Big difference, and she asked me different. She got a
- 31:21Speaker 3: lot of.
- 31:25Speaker 8: Long time I had my computer usage monitored, and it
- 31:29Speaker 8: was not monitored.
- 31:32Speaker 4: I would think that you guys would be too young
- 31:33Speaker 4: for I mean, I definitely was like it was. It
- 31:37Speaker 4: wasn't like I was towards the end of my Space
- 31:41Speaker 4: actually being popular when I finally got one.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Did you ever have a MySpace account?
- 31:44Speaker 2: No?
- 31:45Speaker 8: I taught myself to code making my Space layouts.
- 31:49Speaker 4: There you go, fancy, Okay, women in stem.
- 31:52Speaker 3: It's another example of how women something about everything that
- 31:56Speaker 3: she can add to conversation.
- 31:58Speaker 8: Basic coach is HG.
- 32:01Speaker 3: Mike, Did you have a.
- 32:02Speaker 6: I did have my Space, but I didn't use it
- 32:04Speaker 6: a lot. But I really enjoyed Facebook initially just because
- 32:06Speaker 6: it was reconnecting with everyone. I think you graduated high
- 32:10Speaker 6: school with college.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't spoke as good as I don't think
- 32:14Speaker 3: it was ever like kind of a younger. No, it
- 32:17Speaker 3: was at first, and then I know I know why
- 32:21Speaker 3: the Facebook. I saw the social network shout.
- 32:26Speaker 4: Right I was on Twitter right away, you know, just
- 32:30Speaker 4: getting into arguments with people over sports, Like day one.
- 32:33Speaker 4: I I downloaded that app and was like, it was
- 32:36Speaker 4: I'm just gonna yell at people.
- 32:38Speaker 8: John Mayer that got me on Twitter.
- 32:40Speaker 7: He was your body is a Wonderlan.
- 32:42Speaker 11: I No.
- 32:44Speaker 1: I like Twitter from the get go, I really did.
- 32:47Speaker 1: I thought it was to me, it was the better app.
- 32:51Speaker 3: I hated it then and I hate it now. I
- 32:53Speaker 3: mean I understand the uses of it now that I
- 32:57Speaker 3: never really saw at the beginning. Fred did. Fred, I'm
- 33:00Speaker 3: sure yelled at Andy and I for being stubborn. Big shock.
- 33:04Speaker 1: But back then Facebook was the monster that was.
- 33:07Speaker 3: But no one really used Facebook for like news or information.
- 33:11Speaker 3: It was like what you were talking about.
- 33:15Speaker 8: Drive from high school.
- 33:16Speaker 4: In terms of web traffic, Facebook kills Twitter it It
- 33:20Speaker 4: drives way more traffic.
- 33:22Speaker 8: Also just internationally, so many people don't use.
- 33:26Speaker 3: In other countries.
- 33:27Speaker 4: I mean, it's not even close. Like you can look
- 33:29Speaker 4: at it in our metrics.
- 33:30Speaker 3: It's not overly surprised.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Yeah. Matt in Rochester, New York. Following up on some
- 33:35Speaker 1: of the Hall of Fame last week, I wanted to
- 33:36Speaker 1: send in a list of players and see what you
- 33:39Speaker 1: think about their chances to make the Patriots Hall of Fame.
- 33:41Speaker 1: It's five people, Danny and Mondola, Malcolm Butler, It's Von Gilmore,
- 33:46Speaker 1: James White, and Dante High Tower.
- 33:48Speaker 8: So I was brought up High Tower, High Tower and White.
- 33:50Speaker 4: I think if Kevin Falk is in James White.
- 33:53Speaker 3: The last two I think have legitimate chances.
- 33:55Speaker 8: And if you're talking about like those iconic moments, High
- 33:58Speaker 8: Tower and James White have them.
- 34:00Speaker 3: Yeah, Gilmore I think has a shot you. I think
- 34:04Speaker 3: in the order that you have there, I would say
- 34:07Speaker 3: that Gilmore in the middle of there is on the fence,
- 34:08Speaker 3: and the other two I think are in the first
- 34:10Speaker 3: two I don't think.
- 34:11Speaker 6: I mean he's got the key plays too, with the
- 34:13Speaker 6: AFT Championship past break, one of us plays the.
- 34:17Speaker 3: First two, I don't think we'll have any chance of
- 34:19Speaker 3: getting in them. They might have the most iconic plays, right,
- 34:23Speaker 3: like Amadola didn't even have the volume, but he has
- 34:26Speaker 3: these memorable game winning plays. And obviously Malcolm Butler might
- 34:31Speaker 3: amaze replay that people.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Know Gilmore had a great Mareak against, but I don't
- 34:37Speaker 1: think he should. I don't think the first three I
- 34:39Speaker 1: don't think you should get in Amadola, Butler and Gilmore.
- 34:42Speaker 1: I can see based on who's in now white and.
- 34:45Speaker 8: How many years, And for me, the difference maker is
- 34:47Speaker 8: how long they're with the Patriots.
- 34:49Speaker 4: Four years for Gilmore and he's only a Patriots for
- 34:52Speaker 4: seventeen eighteen, nineteen twenty right, four years, Yeah.
- 34:56Speaker 3: That's pretty quick. High towers should be in high Tower?
- 35:00Speaker 3: Did him right in twenty Yeah?
- 35:01Speaker 4: Twenty one. I think the twenty summer twenty one could
- 35:04Speaker 4: have that wrong, but I feel like I'm right. But yeah,
- 35:07Speaker 4: the high Tower, that's too short. I feel like high
- 35:10Speaker 4: towers a lock like high Tower.
- 35:12Speaker 3: Yeah, high towers should be able.
- 35:13Speaker 7: You got to start plotting it out though, like's not
- 35:15Speaker 7: a certain point you're gonna get. That's the obvious ones
- 35:18Speaker 7: and then you know unless.
- 35:19Speaker 3: It's almost like Pall brought up some of these concerns
- 35:23Speaker 3: to people once a part.
- 35:25Speaker 1: Of the time Salmon Salmon Saint Catherine says, a couple
- 35:28Speaker 1: of hypocritical arguments I don't get that have been going
- 35:31Speaker 1: on with the Hall of Fame topic on the show. One,
- 35:34Speaker 1: it's a big deal for Adam that he's the all
- 35:37Speaker 1: time leading scorer in the NFL. For his Canton resume,
- 35:40Speaker 1: but it doesn't matter that Goskowski is for the Patriots Hall.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Couldn't you say Adam was lucky to benefit from shorter
- 35:46Speaker 1: extra points and being attached to two of the greatest quarterbacks,
- 35:50Speaker 1: see I I.
- 35:51Speaker 3: Mean, I ask you, but that's not that's not my
- 35:53Speaker 3: reason for Adam Vini Terry being a Pro Football Hall.
- 35:55Speaker 1: Of Fame exactly. You took the words out of my mouth.
- 35:58Speaker 3: Now it's it's part of his rest just like it's
- 36:00Speaker 3: part of Gostowski's resume.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Right, But that alone doesn't need to have those game
- 36:05Speaker 1: winning kicks with the Patriots, including the one in the
- 36:08Speaker 1: snow which tied the game, wasn't even a game winner, right.
- 36:11Speaker 3: I don't think I wouldn't be talking about him like this. No, yeah, no,
- 36:15Speaker 3: there's a lot of good kickers.
- 36:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I could care less for that's all kickers about
- 36:19Speaker 4: the points.
- 36:20Speaker 1: That's why I said last show that I think the
- 36:23Speaker 1: reason why Adams being considered for the Hall of Fame
- 36:26Speaker 1: in Canton is because of what he did with the Patriots.
- 36:29Speaker 3: And what he did when the money was on the launch, what.
- 36:33Speaker 1: He did with the Patriots clutch in clutch time.
- 36:36Speaker 4: I mean, he has some of the he has in
- 36:38Speaker 4: my opinion, the snowball kicks the greatest kick of all time.
- 36:41Speaker 3: It's in a lot of people's opinion.
- 36:43Speaker 4: And then he has a Super Bowl game winning kicks
- 36:45Speaker 4: on top of that, right, So I mean, it's that's
- 36:48Speaker 4: why he's he's even in the conversation for any of
- 36:51Speaker 4: these halls.
- 36:52Speaker 3: And it's like a forty eight yarder. It's not like
- 36:55Speaker 3: this twenty two yarder.
- 36:57Speaker 4: You know, even now, I still can't believe he made it,
- 37:00Speaker 4: just knowing how the snow is coming down that night
- 37:03Speaker 4: and like conditions.
- 37:05Speaker 1: It's just it was unbelievable to Adam being held back
- 37:09Speaker 1: due to fans not liking that he left to join
- 37:11Speaker 1: the cults. But it won't count for Gronk, who literally
- 37:14Speaker 1: retired because he didn't want to play for the Patriots anymore,
- 37:17Speaker 1: only to unretire when he had the chance to go
- 37:19Speaker 1: to the Bucks. That one's a fair argument, like why
- 37:22Speaker 1: do we not hold that against Gronk, but we hold
- 37:25Speaker 1: it against Minette.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Because Gronk didn't leave for money. I don't hold the
- 37:28Speaker 3: fans blame ran Terry for leaving for money.
- 37:30Speaker 4: But I don't hold it against either.
- 37:31Speaker 3: But I don't hold it against either one of them either.
- 37:33Speaker 3: But it's it's it's friend's right. That's that's a good.
- 37:36Speaker 3: That's more of a fair. Analogy is they've overlooked it
- 37:41Speaker 3: for Gronk, and they didn't overlook it for Vinitary. I'm
- 37:43Speaker 3: telling you, when vinit Arry left, he was vilified. People
- 37:48Speaker 3: thought that he was selfish and he took more money.
- 37:50Speaker 3: He had nothing to do with it, but that's what
- 37:51Speaker 3: they thought leave for because he didn't want to play
- 37:54Speaker 3: for Belichick anymore. He only wanted to play with Brady.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Okay.
- 37:58Speaker 4: Oh, I think here's a combination of those.
- 38:00Speaker 3: Okay, I think he's on the record. He's on the
- 38:03Speaker 3: record saying.
- 38:03Speaker 1: I want to play with them, play with yeah, yeah, Okay.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Ryan in Oceanside, California, he says Evans hypocrisy. Evan believes
- 38:15Speaker 1: the Patriots Hall of Fame should go in chronological order,
- 38:17Speaker 1: but thinks it's insane to consider the Star Wars movies
- 38:20Speaker 1: that are actually titled in chronological order, in chronological order.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Fred duson Marine, Matt, you need to teach him a lesson.
- 38:28Speaker 4: Teach me a lesson, guys.
- 38:30Speaker 3: I like that.
- 38:32Speaker 1: Numbers.
- 38:34Speaker 4: Your Their favorite Star Wars movie is the third one,
- 38:37Speaker 4: not episode three.
- 38:39Speaker 6: The third one, Well, I would take into account how
- 38:42Speaker 6: old that person was.
- 38:43Speaker 4: Nope, take that out.
- 38:44Speaker 6: Of it, and I would say Josh Dobbs was young.
- 38:46Speaker 6: So I want to say third one is probably going
- 38:48Speaker 6: to be Revenge of the.
- 38:49Speaker 4: See, I don't think that episode. In my mind, the
- 38:55Speaker 4: third one, what are you doing?
- 38:58Speaker 3: I wasn't paying If someone just can't to you and said,
- 39:00Speaker 3: my favorite Star Wars episode is episode three.
- 39:03Speaker 4: No, not not episode just the third one.
- 39:05Speaker 3: The third one, the third one, the third one, would
- 39:09Speaker 3: you say, which one are you talking about? Would you
- 39:11Speaker 3: assume that it was?
- 39:12Speaker 4: Which was the third one? To me?
- 39:14Speaker 1: The third one is the third one that was released.
- 39:17Speaker 4: Thank you. I broken.
- 39:19Speaker 8: We got to follow up and ask and figure out.
- 39:22Speaker 3: I got to talk to do about this.
- 39:24Speaker 1: If you put it material to me, the third one
- 39:28Speaker 1: is it's not number three. If you put it that way,
- 39:32Speaker 1: it's the third one that was released in chronological.
- 39:35Speaker 3: But here's the thing.
- 39:38Speaker 6: No one loves returning the Jedi as their favorite one.
- 39:40Speaker 6: People like the younger generation likes episode three or.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Probably I probably asked for clarification, but in my mind,
- 39:48Speaker 1: the third one is the third one that came out.
- 39:50Speaker 3: If I was being honest with one YouTube because you're
- 39:53Speaker 3: kind of like saying, like, how old is the person?
- 39:55Speaker 4: Well, I am one Joshua Dobbs's demographic. The third one
- 40:01Speaker 4: to me is Jedi, And if I'm being honest, then
- 40:05Speaker 4: I would say that as a kid growing up, Jedi
- 40:08Speaker 4: was my favorite because I didn't really like the story
- 40:11Speaker 4: and Empire Strikes Back is definitely better. But like I,
- 40:14Speaker 4: I just wanted the good people to like fight with lightsabers, right,
- 40:17Speaker 4: like I didn't really you know, so I I really
- 40:20Speaker 4: liked the third one growing up, like yeah, but.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Yeah, to me, the best one was the last one
- 40:35Speaker 1: that came out, which is three.
- 40:38Speaker 2: I thought he was.
- 40:40Speaker 1: It's the last one's your favorite?
- 40:41Speaker 4: The next one, the next one, the last one that
- 40:44Speaker 4: came out would be the neutral.
- 40:46Speaker 7: Worst, which was horrible.
- 40:47Speaker 3: I think we don't do cool stuff like this. By
- 40:49Speaker 3: the way, that they're an NFL network, the Rims. So
- 40:52Speaker 3: we came out they're they're doing their mini camp in
- 40:54Speaker 3: Maui and Maui I don't care camp.
- 40:57Speaker 8: Why amazing?
- 40:59Speaker 3: You got to go there?
- 41:00Speaker 4: No? No, thank you?
- 41:02Speaker 1: Well because the volcanoes.
- 41:03Speaker 4: No, I just like it's mini camp and now I
- 41:05Speaker 4: have to go right on a planet, Like.
- 41:09Speaker 1: No, what if all I would creak that camp was there.
- 41:13Speaker 4: Maybe a little bit better, but I don't give it
- 41:15Speaker 4: was two days. Can I sign me? I just like,
- 41:18Speaker 4: it's just not like if I'm going there and you're
- 41:21Speaker 4: like you're going to work like business, you're taking vacation
- 41:25Speaker 4: and esus.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely, Spian Fresno says on catch twenty two This week,
- 41:30Speaker 1: barth essentially said that Julian Edelman had great memorable catches
- 41:34Speaker 1: clutch catches, while Welker didn't. This seems a gross oversimplification
- 41:38Speaker 1: and caused me to angrily spurred out stick to the draft, Bartholomew.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Both players had big drops and big catches. That comes
- 41:45Speaker 1: with the territory of being a great player playing in
- 41:48Speaker 1: a lot of big moments. People like Alex Bart selectively
- 41:51Speaker 1: recall one or the other, agree or disagree.
- 41:54Speaker 4: He's not here to defense.
- 41:55Speaker 3: I would largely agree.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I would too.
- 41:57Speaker 3: I think they both had memorable moments, and they both
- 42:00Speaker 3: had some disappointing drops.
- 42:03Speaker 4: In his defense though, like what's Welker's equivalent of the
- 42:08Speaker 4: Super Bowl fifty one catch? Like he doesn't have a
- 42:12Speaker 4: catch like that, but.
- 42:13Speaker 3: That was a I look at plays like that a
- 42:16Speaker 3: lot differently. Than most fans.
- 42:17Speaker 4: But I'm not talking about it because I'm not like
- 42:19Speaker 4: talking about like the level of difficulty and stuff. I'm
- 42:21Speaker 4: just talking about the iconic moment, like in time like that,
- 42:27Speaker 4: that is an iconic play whether it was ten for
- 42:30Speaker 4: Lucky or what.
- 42:31Speaker 6: But like, yeah, it's also Hardley Luker's limited sample size.
- 42:36Speaker 6: I was just doing the math in my head. I
- 42:37Speaker 6: mean playoffs two thousand and seven. Of course, Paul mentioned
- 42:41Speaker 6: super Bowl might have been the MVP ninety eight. They
- 42:44Speaker 6: didn't make the playoffs. Nine he got hurt, ten they
- 42:46Speaker 6: got upset in the first round. He also i think
- 42:50Speaker 6: sat out the first right there. It was not when
- 42:51Speaker 6: he got bench by court by Rex and then eleven
- 42:55Speaker 6: and twelve, the you know, the run of the super Bowl,
- 42:57Speaker 6: which again I thought he was wasn't pretty good in
- 42:58Speaker 6: that suit, I mean other than.
- 42:59Speaker 3: The he was. Yeah, the numbers the more pless percentage
- 43:08Speaker 3: wise are not much different. But Edelman had far more
- 43:11Speaker 3: appearances in the playoffs. Just numbers are ridiculous. I mean, again,
- 43:16Speaker 3: this is not an anti Julian Like Julian Edelman is
- 43:20Speaker 3: a no brain, lock stock and barrel Hall of Famer
- 43:23Speaker 3: for the Patriots. Yes, like I'm not. I'm not upset
- 43:26Speaker 3: at all. I'm not Fred and I would teasing each
- 43:28Speaker 3: other on Tuesday. I'm not upset like that. It went
- 43:32Speaker 3: in an order that I didn't agree with. I just
- 43:34Speaker 3: would push back on the people that say that we
- 43:38Speaker 3: doesn't belong and there are people that are doing that,
- 43:41Speaker 3: And in fairness to the fans, it's not the fans.
- 43:45Speaker 3: He hasn't been on the ballot yet. We can't blame
- 43:47Speaker 3: this one on the fans. I blame everything on the fans.
- 43:50Speaker 3: I can't do that on this I can't even get
- 43:52Speaker 3: him on the ballot, and that's not the fans fault.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Jeremiah says. Gronk said on a podcast once that he
- 43:59Speaker 1: retired because the Patriots tried to trade him to Detroit.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Unless there's something I missed, that was the last thing
- 44:03Speaker 1: I remember him saying why he retired.
- 44:06Speaker 3: I thought that was.
- 44:07Speaker 7: Before he retired.
- 44:08Speaker 4: Before that, I was the off season before. So in
- 44:12Speaker 4: eighteen they did that. That's factual. They did try to
- 44:15Speaker 4: trade him to Detroit.
- 44:16Speaker 3: And it's all that is factual.
- 44:18Speaker 4: Yeah, and he was I remember standing in the locker
- 44:21Speaker 4: room and it finally came out that that happened, and
- 44:24Speaker 4: he confirmed it. He said, it said right to us that, yeah,
- 44:28Speaker 4: they tried to trade me Detroit and I threatened to
- 44:30Speaker 4: retire and the trade you know, fell through because I
- 44:34Speaker 4: wasn't going to go to Detroit. I was going to retire.
- 44:35Speaker 3: He was also said on the record that when he
- 44:38Speaker 3: came back, he was only coming back to play for Brady. Yeah,
- 44:41Speaker 3: it wasn't like whoever wanted for him.
- 44:44Speaker 8: And I think when she did retire, he was just
- 44:47Speaker 8: so banged up and didn't want to deal with the
- 44:49Speaker 8: BS here that it was like what am I doing to.
- 44:52Speaker 4: I mean, after the eighteen season, he was the injuries
- 44:55Speaker 4: that he had sustained were incredible. Yeah, why did Bill.
- 44:59Speaker 7: Try to trade them?
- 45:00Speaker 2: Like?
- 45:00Speaker 3: I mean, was that like I'm going to try to
- 45:02Speaker 3: get out of it to get some value if I'm not mistaken,
- 45:06Speaker 3: and someone will certainly correct me, and I'm not going
- 45:08Speaker 3: to be all know it all like I normally am.
- 45:11Speaker 3: I think it was the year that Baker Mayfield was
- 45:14Speaker 3: the number one pick and they were trying to get
- 45:18Speaker 3: first round picks to make steps to go from the
- 45:20Speaker 3: bottom of the first round to the middle to the top,
- 45:23Speaker 3: and I think it was Detroit. I think Detroit was
- 45:25Speaker 3: one of the high pad. I could have this all wrong.
- 45:28Speaker 4: I don't know about it.
- 45:29Speaker 3: I could have the timetable all wrong. But it was
- 45:32Speaker 3: the year that there was a story out linking Josh
- 45:35Speaker 3: McDaniels to Baker Mayfield. It was Mary kay Capp and
- 45:39Speaker 3: they needed to get I think Detroit's number one pick
- 45:42Speaker 3: to get up with something like that, I forget, but
- 45:45Speaker 3: there were some there was a series of trades they
- 45:47Speaker 3: were trying to make.
- 45:48Speaker 7: Wow, I've never never heard this.
- 45:50Speaker 4: I've heard the Baker stuff. I don't know if those
- 45:51Speaker 4: were connected exactly.
- 45:53Speaker 3: He's probably all wrong, but I.
- 45:57Speaker 4: Understanding the ground thing was always that it was the
- 45:59Speaker 4: year too early thing or you know, rather you know,
- 46:01Speaker 4: do it early than late. And Bill thought that Gronk
- 46:04Speaker 4: was slowing down. The injuries were piling up, as we
- 46:06Speaker 4: all know, and he thought that he was on the
- 46:09Speaker 4: back nine.
- 46:10Speaker 3: I was also during the height of the career all
- 46:14Speaker 3: wars as opposed to the col and that's he wasn't
- 46:18Speaker 3: He wasn't lifting anymore. He wasn't doing the not lifting,
- 46:21Speaker 3: but he wasn't doing any squats. Remember, like you know,
- 46:23Speaker 3: that's great for the quarterback to have playability, but the
- 46:25Speaker 3: tight end needs the block, yeah, you know, and Bill
- 46:28Speaker 3: was very frustrated.
- 46:29Speaker 6: I think it's crazy thinking about it after watching the
- 46:32Speaker 6: Dynasty documentary of how that would have gone over, because
- 46:35Speaker 6: at that point it felt like they were barely holding
- 46:38Speaker 6: this thing together and then to go and get rid
- 46:41Speaker 6: of Brady's safety blanket Groank.
- 46:43Speaker 3: We all know everything that Gronk is, like, that would
- 46:46Speaker 3: have really.
- 46:47Speaker 6: I I don't know what that alternate timeline looks like
- 46:50Speaker 6: for Patriots fans and players, but trading Gronk to Detroit, yeah, I.
- 46:55Speaker 4: Would always just say that a Seismicing that eighteen season,
- 46:58Speaker 4: I feel like all the issues get masked by the
- 47:04Speaker 4: fact that they put it together for one last dance
- 47:06Speaker 4: and won the Super Bowl. That team was was in
- 47:09Speaker 4: a bad spot for a lot of that, Like offensively,
- 47:12Speaker 4: they were not very good for large stretches of the
- 47:14Speaker 4: eighteen season, Like Josh Gordon had to come in and
- 47:17Speaker 4: kind of like save the offense and be an outside
- 47:21Speaker 4: threat for them. You know, they lost to in a
- 47:24Speaker 4: row Pittsburgh and in the Miami Miracle, and like I
- 47:27Speaker 4: remember doing at the time saying it was over.
- 47:30Speaker 3: Yeah, nine and five. Yeah, I at that at those times,
- 47:34Speaker 3: like I had the utmost confidence that they would win
- 47:36Speaker 3: every game, and I did not think they had a
- 47:40Speaker 3: playoff running them.
- 47:41Speaker 4: Even the defense like didn't really start to turn it
- 47:43Speaker 4: around until the playoffs either. But they like the last
- 47:45Speaker 4: two weeks of the season, they they kind of put
- 47:48Speaker 4: together an offense that could you know, they went in
- 47:50Speaker 4: twenty one personnel, run the football behind the full back
- 47:53Speaker 4: and that like sort of became a base for them.
- 47:55Speaker 4: But they were not a great team that year.
- 47:58Speaker 1: No, they turned on in the right time.
- 48:01Speaker 6: I don't want to bring up because but my mind
- 48:03Speaker 6: went this with the Celtics, because I hear all this
- 48:06Speaker 6: stuff about they need to change what they're doing, and
- 48:08Speaker 6: it's to me, like I compare it, and I thought
- 48:09Speaker 6: a lot about this with where the Patriots kind of
- 48:11Speaker 6: found their stride schematically during the season. They still had
- 48:15Speaker 6: to win a shootout in a different style in Kansas City,
- 48:18Speaker 6: but not necessarily trying to get it back into Celtics talk.
- 48:22Speaker 6: But like, is that crazy to tell a team like
- 48:23Speaker 6: in the middle of the playoffs, like you need to
- 48:25Speaker 6: change your identity right now?
- 48:26Speaker 3: No, And I would I would say, and it is
- 48:28Speaker 3: a little different like in terms of you know, different sports,
- 48:32Speaker 3: but I would say that Everything that has been described
- 48:35Speaker 3: about that team is accurate. Whatever just said, everything is factual.
- 48:39Speaker 3: I would I would push back as to the why, like,
- 48:44Speaker 3: yes they did. They got fat and happy those last
- 48:46Speaker 3: two games, I want to say against the Jets and Buffalo.
- 48:48Speaker 4: Yeah too, they were too division.
- 48:50Speaker 3: There were two fatsy division games that they got fat against.
- 48:53Speaker 3: They ran the ball very well, Michelle played well. They
- 48:57Speaker 3: scored a crap ton of points in the two playoff games,
- 49:00Speaker 3: forty one I think in thirty seven in the two
- 49:03Speaker 3: playoff games. They didn't just do that by lining up
- 49:05Speaker 3: in twenty one personnel and slamm him Sony Michelle into
- 49:08Speaker 3: a brick wall. They still had Tom Brady. He was
- 49:11Speaker 3: still Tom Brady, and he delivered.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Again.
- 49:14Speaker 3: Everything Evan said is right. I wouldn't.
- 49:16Speaker 4: The Charger game was definitely more of a run game.
- 49:18Speaker 3: I wouldn't argue about the validity of what we're talking about.
- 49:22Speaker 3: I would just say Brady's presence is still there. You
- 49:26Speaker 3: still have to play them as a past team now,
- 49:29Speaker 3: and without that you can make all the changes you
- 49:32Speaker 3: want and go three yards in a cloud of dust
- 49:34Speaker 3: all you want. I feel like you needed to win
- 49:38Speaker 3: one and a half shootouts. I would say that Evan's right.
- 49:40Speaker 3: The Chargers game ends up forty one to twenty eight.
- 49:43Speaker 3: That was one of those games that Fred and I
- 49:45Speaker 3: like to sit in the easy chair and say, yeah,
- 49:47Speaker 3: it was kind of close, but it really wasn't. It
- 49:49Speaker 3: was one of those games the Patriots had the whole
- 49:51Speaker 3: way the Chiefs game wasn't the Chiefs game. They needed
- 49:55Speaker 3: to throw the ball to continue to score with the
- 49:59Speaker 3: and they made the ball well too.
- 50:00Speaker 4: They well, I just remember the zone to win the game. Yeah, right,
- 50:04Speaker 4: they took the ball. I think they took the ball
- 50:06Speaker 4: first in both games, yep, which was very uncharacteristic as
- 50:10Speaker 4: we know. And they they went in the charges of
- 50:12Speaker 4: the Chiefs game. Both games they went on like ten
- 50:15Speaker 4: plus play eight minutes, like pound the rock type of
- 50:19Speaker 4: drives to basically shorten the game, especially against Kansas City.
- 50:24Speaker 1: I remember the Patriots were up fourteen zip in the
- 50:27Speaker 1: first half.
- 50:27Speaker 3: I don't remember the I remember them taking the ball
- 50:31Speaker 3: in Kansas City. I don't remember it being necessarily a
- 50:33Speaker 3: ball control drive, but I'll take your work for it
- 50:35Speaker 3: because I don't remember. Yeah, I don't remember.
- 50:37Speaker 4: Like to Douce's point, they're like the about the Celtics
- 50:41Speaker 4: tie like. The opposite is that, like Brady in the
- 50:44Speaker 4: AH Championship game, was like unreal on third down. And
- 50:48Speaker 4: the reason why they were in so many third downs is,
- 50:50Speaker 4: maybe you could argue, is because they were running the
- 50:52Speaker 4: ball so much on first and second time.
- 50:55Speaker 3: Yeah, it was like run into the line for nothing
- 50:57Speaker 3: incomplete past third and ten right like that, And that
- 51:00Speaker 3: works when you have Brady.
- 51:01Speaker 4: That's what where the nerds would say, Well, if you
- 51:03Speaker 4: weren't running the ball so much on first and second down,
- 51:06Speaker 4: you wouldn't have lived in third down and and he
- 51:08Speaker 4: wouldn't have need the greatness to come out, but it did.
- 51:12Speaker 1: Chris in New Hampshire has critiques on all of us.
- 51:15Speaker 1: He says, Fred, you're delightful, don't ever change.
- 51:17Speaker 3: I would agree with that. That's a good, good, good.
- 51:21Speaker 1: I'm not here to tell you what to think. Followed
- 51:23Speaker 1: by that opinion is stupid. I hate it and I
- 51:24Speaker 1: look down upon those who have it. You get it bad, takeduce.
- 51:30Speaker 1: We don't like winning, we don't want the first overall pick.
- 51:32Speaker 1: We get it. You like the defensive side of the ball.
- 51:34Speaker 1: Then complain about how many games it's Benson scoring thirty Well,
- 51:38Speaker 1: once we get to seven to nine, nine and seven purgatory.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Will you be pleased? Evan Barth completes him.
- 51:45Speaker 4: Is that an insult?
- 51:47Speaker 7: I don't know, God, that's just fact critique.
- 51:49Speaker 1: So next time I catch twenty two, I want you
- 51:50Speaker 1: to say to Barth, I can't quit you.
- 51:53Speaker 4: But like that, that is the show, right like we
- 51:57Speaker 4: you know.
- 51:57Speaker 3: I guess I wish I knew how to quit you,
- 51:58Speaker 3: isn't it.
- 52:00Speaker 4: I don't take that as an insult. I think that
- 52:02Speaker 4: means our show is very well rounded. We have all
- 52:05Speaker 4: our angles.
- 52:06Speaker 3: You were quoted as I have Barth and Jess. What
- 52:08Speaker 3: more do I need?
- 52:11Speaker 1: Alex actually Alex easy on the eyes, but of course
- 52:15Speaker 1: also pragmatic and insightful.
- 52:19Speaker 4: Critique.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Crash critiques can be good.
- 52:23Speaker 4: Who was that?
- 52:24Speaker 1: How old are you?
- 52:27Speaker 3: I don't do drugs, Nick, I'd watch your song. Chris,
- 52:33Speaker 3: Chris looking to slide into the d. It's like six
- 52:35Speaker 3: three we found on Twitter.
- 52:36Speaker 7: Six six.
- 52:38Speaker 3: You can handle himself, big can handle himself.
- 52:42Speaker 1: A little aside here I mentioned the fan club register.
- 52:44Speaker 1: I think was it on the last show or the
- 52:46Speaker 1: show before? I can't remember, but he says, this is
- 52:49Speaker 1: Zach in Chicago. I'm so glad you mentioned the Patriots
- 52:53Speaker 1: fan club website last week's show. Being a Patriots fan
- 52:56Speaker 1: in Chicago, it wasn't until I went to last year's
- 52:59Speaker 1: Bear's Patriots game did I realize how big the Patriots
- 53:02Speaker 1: fan base was here. And now, after hearing about the
- 53:05Speaker 1: fan club website, my friends who are also Patriots fans
- 53:09Speaker 1: and I are already planning on making trips to these
- 53:11Speaker 1: bars during the season this year. Also, just to keep
- 53:15Speaker 1: in mind, the Chicago pu fan base would not be
- 53:18Speaker 1: opposed to the crew coming over this way to host
- 53:20Speaker 1: a special episode from the Windy City when the Patriots
- 53:23Speaker 1: come back to play the Bears in twenty twenty six.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Just no Jaws trivia please. Star Wars Yeah, Jaws No.
- 53:30Speaker 1: Keep up the fantastic Wark and shout out to Evan
- 53:34Speaker 1: Jedi was also my favorite Star Wars movie growing up.
- 53:37Speaker 4: Yeah, there's dozens of us.
- 53:41Speaker 3: It's almost as big as the Chicago Patriots Fanklin.
- 53:44Speaker 4: I actually love going to Chicago to go We got
- 53:49Speaker 4: to go last year, right last year? Yeah, last year
- 53:52Speaker 4: and we won and I we like that. That's one
- 53:56Speaker 4: of my favorite cities. Like that. We had a great
- 53:58Speaker 4: time in Chicago's a lot of fun.
- 54:01Speaker 1: It's cavernous.
- 54:01Speaker 3: I haven't been there a lot, but a couple of
- 54:04Speaker 3: times that i've been that I've really enjoyed myself.
- 54:06Speaker 4: It does remind me like it's like like Midwest Boston.
- 54:09Speaker 4: Like it's it's kind of it's kind a similar kind
- 54:11Speaker 4: of feel like that. It's fun.
- 54:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 54:13Speaker 3: My old boss at the Herald was from New York.
- 54:16Speaker 3: He was in like New York City, and he used
- 54:17Speaker 3: to make fun of Boston and Chicago all the time.
- 54:19Speaker 3: It's like, you know, Boston is like a New York suburb,
- 54:22Speaker 3: and he would say, in Chicago's just a cowtown. It
- 54:24Speaker 3: would make fun.
- 54:25Speaker 1: I don't know, man, they get a lot of tall
- 54:26Speaker 1: buildings in Chicago.
- 54:28Speaker 3: Yeah, buildings, but they definitely and I.
- 54:31Speaker 1: Guess city like the Chrysler building. I guess they had
- 54:34Speaker 1: that huge crystal building that's New York shoot about.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Tower.
- 54:40Speaker 4: I don't think it's confused by little It was right
- 54:44Speaker 4: down the street from our hotel, though I want but.
- 54:46Speaker 1: I guess like that big fire in Chicago, you know,
- 54:49Speaker 1: required a lot of rebuildings, so the buildings are newer
- 54:53Speaker 1: than Boston, you know, most of them.
- 54:55Speaker 4: Plus I just like feel the Michael Jordan greatness. When
- 54:58Speaker 4: you're like walking, you're like wow, like this is where
- 55:01Speaker 4: Jordan's played.
- 55:03Speaker 6: I think about like NFL, NHL ninety one with like
- 55:06Speaker 6: Jeremy Ronick and Nintendo Hockey game that was you had to.
- 55:09Speaker 3: Be So you played NHL ninety one. I think it
- 55:13Speaker 3: was ninety four. You played Chicago. Oh yeah, you didn't
- 55:17Speaker 3: play Vancouver. Everybody plays Vancouver's Trevor Linda. What are we doing,
- 55:22Speaker 3: Cliff Rooning?
- 55:22Speaker 4: Is this on Sega?
- 55:24Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 55:25Speaker 1: So here here's here's a good.
- 55:26Speaker 3: You played the last time I played video.
- 55:29Speaker 1: Absolutely, here's a love discussion for an off off season program.
- 55:34Speaker 1: Which city indoor town in the United States had the
- 55:38Speaker 1: best TV shows associated with them?
- 55:41Speaker 12: Oh?
- 55:42Speaker 3: Boy?
- 55:43Speaker 1: You know, so you guns say like Boston Cheers.
- 55:46Speaker 3: You know, Cheers is an all time great But we'll
- 55:49Speaker 3: do that. Probably it's probably.
- 55:52Speaker 1: That Marinate Video York.
- 55:53Speaker 8: That's good for fodder.
- 55:54Speaker 7: Franz Seinfeld.
- 55:55Speaker 1: Yeah, what about Bob new Bark Chicago?
- 55:58Speaker 8: Chicago?
- 55:58Speaker 3: LA must have a lot, right, But I feel I
- 56:02Speaker 3: feel like in l A they're just sort of generic.
- 56:05Speaker 3: This is generic fake California city in California.
- 56:09Speaker 4: I mean.
- 56:13Speaker 8: Two and a half man, now does it being in
- 56:16Speaker 8: that city? Have to be like a fundamental piece of
- 56:18Speaker 8: the show because there's a lot of movies and shows
- 56:21Speaker 8: that you don't realize you.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Have to they have to say, like we're in you.
- 56:25Speaker 4: Know, Austin's got Great Town is part of the.
- 56:28Speaker 1: Show, Like like, well, there's a more in Minneapoli.
- 56:31Speaker 3: That would probably be the best ever sitcom in Minneapolis.
- 56:35Speaker 7: You're gonna go out and live on that one.
- 56:36Speaker 3: I'm gonna I'm all in.
- 56:40Speaker 4: I feel like Boston is more of a movie like
- 56:43Speaker 4: the Town.
- 56:45Speaker 3: There's been some.
- 56:46Speaker 8: Movies you don't realize what's the movie with. I think
- 56:50Speaker 8: it's Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock. It's supposed to be
- 56:54Speaker 8: in Alaska. They filmed in a rockport. There's like a
- 56:59Speaker 8: movie credit, tax credit or something here that a lot
- 57:02Speaker 8: of people film movies here and you don't realize it.
- 57:05Speaker 1: Okay, fun facts. Eric from Amherstburg, Canada says Eric's arrogance
- 57:11Speaker 1: is hilarious. He says, the math is the math. Celtics
- 57:16Speaker 1: are soft, Nerds will be nerds and suck at sports.
- 57:19Speaker 4: Okay, defending NBA champions at sports suck at sports.
- 57:24Speaker 7: Nerds a sports He.
- 57:27Speaker 3: Saw the Revenge of the Nerds.
- 57:28Speaker 1: Nerds, a lot of a lot of a Hall of
- 57:33Speaker 1: Fame emails.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Let's go to that. We spark some debate.
- 57:36Speaker 1: That's good, so we'll get back to it. Let me
- 57:38Speaker 1: go to the phones. Eight five five Pats five hundred
- 57:41Speaker 1: is the hot line for a sponsor.
- 57:44Speaker 7: How Matt Morale, Jersey Mikes, come on, let's go.
- 57:47Speaker 8: Actually, but I tried the Jersey Mike's chicken salad sandwich
- 57:52Speaker 8: and I'm going to review it in the newsletter.
- 57:54Speaker 6: Okay, maybe put me down for your sandwich tomorrow.
- 58:00Speaker 2: Uh, I don't know.
- 58:02Speaker 3: Well, I already own no socks, so I just give
- 58:05Speaker 3: no socks one.
- 58:06Speaker 4: What's why?
- 58:07Speaker 3: I bet him that the saltis will win the next
- 58:09Speaker 3: four games. I watch the first one.
- 58:12Speaker 4: You and Paul Pierce walking barefoot.
- 58:15Speaker 1: Socks had a very very passionate uh review on the
- 58:21Speaker 1: good side of the Jersey Mike's bowls.
- 58:24Speaker 3: That's what I have to get them tomorrow.
- 58:25Speaker 4: They are good.
- 58:26Speaker 1: He really liked it. He said, it's the sandwich without
- 58:29Speaker 1: the bread, so you don't feel like all you know,
- 58:32Speaker 1: I mean, that is what it is.
- 58:35Speaker 4: It was perfect, you know, and you got to Chipotle
- 58:38Speaker 4: and it's like the bowl is like the brito the tortilla, like, right,
- 58:42Speaker 4: I like to get the.
- 58:42Speaker 8: Bowl with the side. No, you get the side tortilla
- 58:46Speaker 8: and then you have to and bowl.
- 58:48Speaker 4: Or you get the chips and then you dip the chips.
- 58:50Speaker 8: And you do all three of the ships.
- 58:52Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't like my Italian sandwich loose.
- 58:55Speaker 3: Like I want something holding it together, just some fluozy, right,
- 59:03Speaker 3: loose one bite, It's got a little of everything, not
- 59:05Speaker 3: you know, one giant bite of like a piece of salami.
- 59:08Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, it's a good point. Then you're trying to
- 59:10Speaker 1: like make sure you get meat with the other stuff
- 59:13Speaker 1: you want to You have to wind vinegar and you
- 59:15Speaker 1: have to make sure that.
- 59:16Speaker 3: I do have an irrational concern over that, Like am
- 59:19Speaker 3: I putting too much on one fold? And now I'm
- 59:22Speaker 3: just gonna I'm gonna be left without.
- 59:23Speaker 1: The stuff exactly exactly.
- 59:25Speaker 4: That's a good point.
- 59:26Speaker 3: I do think that because I'm I got.
- 59:28Speaker 6: A question if I get a turkey bowl, is it
- 59:30Speaker 6: weird if I like, can you put a squirre to
- 59:31Speaker 6: mayo on top of that?
- 59:32Speaker 7: Like nobody does that?
- 59:33Speaker 3: Right?
- 59:33Speaker 1: You can't put a male and then mix it around.
- 59:39Speaker 3: I don't know, I have a weird thing with mayo though,
- 59:41Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 59:41Speaker 8: What about like a Chipotle that's mayo. It's just flavored.
- 59:45Speaker 7: You're right out, you know, right holes.
- 59:48Speaker 3: In my so versatile the renaissances.
- 59:53Speaker 6: I just can't picture a bowl with like just like
- 59:55Speaker 6: a squiggle of just white mayo on top of it.
- 59:57Speaker 3: I don't know. It just grosses me out.
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: Who thinks like that?
- 1:00:07Speaker 6: Like I want the mayo just spread nicely on the bun.
- 1:00:09Speaker 6: I don't see it. I taste it, but too much
- 1:00:11Speaker 6: mayo can run.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: You don't want too much, too much mayo. You just
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: to touch on mayo. But you can't do it on
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: the salad.
- 1:00:18Speaker 6: This is on people seeing him eat that giant amount
- 1:00:22Speaker 6: of mayo on your salad?
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: Did you have that chicken that turkey?
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: Sub?
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: Was that playing mic? And you can say yes because
- 1:00:28Speaker 3: they will never know it's smothered with mayo. And we're
- 1:00:33Speaker 3: not smothered, but just a little mayo. It's just a little,
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: you know, a little tang in there.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: It's nice, all right. Cameron's in North Carolina? What's up? Cameron?
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: Hey?
- 1:00:42Speaker 10: What's going on?
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: Y'all?
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: Hey?
- 1:00:44Speaker 10: I have two quick questions for you, the first one
- 1:00:47Speaker 10: being how important do you think it is for trick
- 1:00:50Speaker 10: made development to have two veteran quarterbacks that he's hats
- 1:00:54Speaker 10: up far, such as Jacoby Brissette and Josh Dobbs, and
- 1:00:58Speaker 10: just there get a case into being mentors and sharing
- 1:01:01Speaker 10: the same primary goal of just trying to win as
- 1:01:04Speaker 10: opposed to really compete. First spot, and the second one
- 1:01:07Speaker 10: being what the argument would be to have Matthew Slater
- 1:01:11Speaker 10: inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame, because if we're
- 1:01:15Speaker 10: talking about impact players, I understand he was a great
- 1:01:18Speaker 10: leader and long, very long tenured, but I don't really
- 1:01:21Speaker 10: understand the argument to get him in to the Pro
- 1:01:24Speaker 10: or the Patriot's Hall of Fame. And I'll take it off.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: There, thank you, all right, thanks Cameron.
- 1:01:28Speaker 4: I think he's probably the greatest special teams player of
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: all time. So Matthew, Yeah, in terms of covering kicks.
- 1:01:36Speaker 7: Can we quantify that? Can we quantify that into wins?
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: Can't?
- 1:01:40Speaker 4: You can't quantify it into wins necessarily. But like you know,
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: if you throw on Matthew Slater gunner tape like some
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: people do in this room every once in a while,
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: like they they the amount of like dun the amount
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: of like double and triple teams that he would see
- 1:01:55Speaker 4: on like one punt was like insane, Like they they
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: were literally layer the blocking scheme so that like you
- 1:02:01Speaker 4: would get hit like seven times going down the field.
- 1:02:04Speaker 4: I mean, well, like.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: What like why?
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: Like I mean, I like I'm being serious because you just.
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: He literally tackling. He literally would not practice with the
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: rest of the team. That's all he would do is
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: work on that. That's all he would do.
- 1:02:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean he's He's just one of the best
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: to ever do it. I mean that's the argument getting downfield.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: The first question that he had that Cameron had, I
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: think is a good one. I don't know what the
- 1:02:30Speaker 3: answer is, but you know, would you rather have and
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: how beneficial do you think it is for Drake may
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: to have veteran backup types as opposed to legit competition
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: for a job, right, Yeah, And I think you can
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: make a strong argument for both sides. I'm not sure
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: what's more beneficial to Drake, because I think that would
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: be in the eye of the beholder, whatever he feels
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: is more beneficial at this.
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: Point of his career. I like this approach a little
- 1:02:56Speaker 4: bit better. Like if we're in year three and four
- 1:02:58Speaker 4: and he hasn't taken that next step yet, and you
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: want to try to push him a little bit. And
- 1:03:02Speaker 4: that's one thing, but right now you're really just trying
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: to get him off the ground and get it.
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: I'll repeat. This is another Bill Parcells thing. If you
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: have two quarterbacks, you don't have a quarterback. And I
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: think that's true. If you don't have that guy and
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: you have legitimate competition at the quarterback, then you don't
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: have a quarterback.
- 1:03:21Speaker 7: But I looked at it more as do you guys
- 1:03:23Speaker 7: see value in.
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: How you disagree with Bill Parcells.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: Bill Parcells said, if I don't have a guy who
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: separates himself.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: No, No. His exact quote was, if you have two quarterbacks,
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: you don't have a quarterback. Correct.
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: That means you don't have a guy who separated himself.
- 1:03:36Speaker 3: That's his point. I need some So if Drake Maye
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: is the guy, right, there's nothing to worry about. Right,
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: you can have competition.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: It's well, it's not really competition because he.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: Beats it, right, So that's why it's not that was
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: almost a disaster.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: It's not competitive anymore because he already yourself.
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: But he needs to win the competition, yes, right, So
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: right now, Parcels is like ideal. This is why I
- 1:04:00Speaker 3: think this. You can look at this from both sides,
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: Like I agree with what Fred's talking about here, but
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: I think we're saying the same thing in a different way.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: I think here we go.
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: You if I like the idea of having a veteran,
- 1:04:14Speaker 3: I think Brissett last year and Dobbs this year will
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: be beneficial. I think Evan's point about maybe two or
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: three years down the road, if he hasn't sort of
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: gotten nudged, he might need someone a little bit younger.
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: And you know.
- 1:04:29Speaker 7: Thress Anthony Richardson more threatening.
- 1:04:32Speaker 3: Is a good word to do it, to give him
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: a kick. But I don't worry about like having two quarterbacks.
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: I think that I have the guy. I think Drake
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: May is my guy. But I don't think there's anything
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: wrong with having a guy behind him who's younger as
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: well as the veteran who wants to compete for the job.
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: I think competition is good at all spots, and I'm
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: confident if I'm the coach that Drake May wins that competition. Well,
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: I don't have two quarterbacks. My problem of whom I playing.
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: They're both so good you know. I that's what Parcels
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: didn't want. Was like the fans saying the other guy
- 1:05:09Speaker 3: should be playing like Mac Jones, Bailey Zappy, that's no
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: good like ZAPPI was competition for Jones, but it was
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: only a competition because Jones wasn't good enough. Do you
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: see what I'm saying? Yeah, yeah, you don't want two quarterbacks?
- 1:05:23Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I was thinking about it a little
- 1:05:25Speaker 6: bit differently, just in the value of having a veteran
- 1:05:28Speaker 6: quarterback with Drake still and do you see value.
- 1:05:30Speaker 7: In someone experience? Do not necessarily like competing?
- 1:05:33Speaker 6: Just hey kid, this is you know, we're playing in
- 1:05:36Speaker 6: Green Bay this week and this is something I noticedable
- 1:05:38Speaker 6: Or you know, they might throw this defensive coordinator this week,
- 1:05:41Speaker 6: might throw this at you, those kind of things like
- 1:05:44Speaker 6: I don't know, I just I guess as.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: I get I want both.
- 1:05:46Speaker 7: Yeah, I just I see a little bit.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:05:50Speaker 6: There's part of me that just wants them to do
- 1:05:51Speaker 6: it himself and get you know, like learn fro himself
- 1:05:53Speaker 6: and not have to think that, oh I'm going to
- 1:05:56Speaker 6: get I feel like we had this conversation during that year.
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: If you if you progress to Evan's point. You know,
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: in three years, let's say it goes the other way
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: and he clearly just establishes himself. Now I don't need
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: a veteran because he's the man. He doesn't need anybody
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: to mentor now I can bring in young guys to
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: develop behind him.
- 1:06:12Speaker 6: Which was what like Brady like oh four oh five
- 1:06:14Speaker 6: somewhere in there, and that that was when he no
- 1:06:16Speaker 6: longer had the you know.
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: The how long did did Hewards stay?
- 1:06:21Speaker 4: Was a couple of years? Just a couple of felt
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: like a good amount of time though.
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: For a backup, because after he left, he really didn't
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: have that like Castle then and now they brought in
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: random guys, but they were just to appease.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: They brought hadn't even played in college.
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: Yeah right, But like on once Heward left, you know,
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: it was like Rohan Davey, like it was young guys
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: that were developing, and then they would bring in veterans
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: like Testa, Verdi and Flutey to you know, satisfied Belichick's ego. Right,
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: which again these are things we can say now.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: All right, we'll take a break. More calls and emails,
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: lots of emails coming in Hall of Fame stuff, it's

- 1:08:51Speaker 11: Everybody's excited, excited for a new opportunity, fresh start.
- 1:08:55Speaker 15: So and how would you discrab the new coaching and
- 1:09:01Speaker 15: like the impact that might be able on the new
- 1:09:04Speaker 15: coaching has.
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: Had on what's going on here?
- 1:09:08Speaker 11: I would say it's it's a very uh, very high
- 1:09:10Speaker 11: emphasis on connectivity, really setting foundation, learning each other, growing
- 1:09:16Speaker 11: together and really establishing you know, their identity and things
- 1:09:20Speaker 11: like that.
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: So m s just find the connectivity, like how does that?
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: How does that?
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: Like how how do you c.
- 1:09:30Speaker 11: Yeah, so that would be time learn each other's story
- 1:09:33Speaker 11: a on and off the field, you know, and really
- 1:09:36Speaker 11: just honing in on on each individual and the time
- 1:09:40Speaker 11: we do have together and really learning.
- 1:09:41Speaker 2: Each other, like I said, on and off the field.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: So there's so many changes for you got to believe
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: some side of the multis off seat, but at the
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: same position, you got pretty much stay fit course be
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: real built of how important is you guys could be
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: able to maybe set that tone of consistency of the fact.
- 1:09:59Speaker 11: That going the twenty twenty five y uh, I'll say
- 1:10:02Speaker 11: it's it's important for everybody. The standard is to stand
- 1:10:04Speaker 11: there with us, but leadership has to come from every room,
- 1:10:07Speaker 11: and so we just got to make sure what the
- 1:10:09Speaker 11: standard is what it is in our room and we're
- 1:10:12Speaker 11: holding to that.
- 1:10:13Speaker 16: You've gotten much into like what your goals can look
- 1:10:15Speaker 16: like in this deep pen tent.
- 1:10:16Speaker 2: No, so what what was what the last few.
- 1:10:19Speaker 11: Weeks felt like forret you guys, it's really just been
- 1:10:21Speaker 11: setting the foundation, just learning, connecting, Like like I said earlier,
- 1:10:24Speaker 11: that's been the biggest emphasis, not not really getting into
- 1:10:27Speaker 11: the the roles.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: And yet we just shout out to the identity in
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: the foundation help.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: Challenge Junior's lescens for you just you know, bottle them
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: PSI and pretty muchhore.
- 1:10:37Speaker 14: How how tough this that?
- 1:10:38Speaker 10: How much are you looking.
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: Forward to this?
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: Yous?
- 1:10:41Speaker 11: I'm really looking forward to to this upcoming season, not
- 1:10:43Speaker 11: really looking back, uh to last year kind of put
- 1:10:47Speaker 11: in the back of my mind and really just looking
- 1:10:50Speaker 11: forward to move moving on.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: You know, I'm sorry, really a good are you, Rarether?
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: You're the longest You and a couple of other guys
- 1:10:57Speaker 4: are the longest tender guys on the team.
- 1:10:59Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: Yeah, they they've been telling me.
- 1:11:01Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, So what I mean, well, what's your reaction
- 1:11:03Speaker 4: to that?
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: I guess, uh happened fast, I would say.
- 1:11:08Speaker 11: It.
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been.
- 1:11:10Speaker 11: It's been from my rookie year and now it's been
- 1:11:13Speaker 11: it's been flash So it's it's really good.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: It makes me feel good.
- 1:11:18Speaker 11: Just to be with the organization for that long and
- 1:11:21Speaker 11: it just lets me know that m you know, as
- 1:11:23Speaker 11: a as a leader, my role and you know, kind
- 1:11:26Speaker 11: of setting things and just being here in the organization.
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: You know, it's it's important. So how does that change civil?
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: How you you yourself? Falking around? Stay? They they fall
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: old heads, they're up there.
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: Nah.
- 1:11:38Speaker 11: It don't change much for me. Yeah, it don't really
- 1:11:41Speaker 11: change much for me at all. I still have a
- 1:11:44Speaker 11: job in the standard to uphold so and learning this
- 1:11:48Speaker 11: have to be open and and really make sure that
- 1:11:50Speaker 11: I'm aware and locked in on on everything news.
- 1:11:54Speaker 10: The angle.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: With that it's it's doing well. Yeah, it's doing well. Yeah.
- 1:12:02Speaker 4: Uh well, a lot of the guys were leaders and
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: captains on the team, aren't fact. Do do you see
- 1:12:07Speaker 4: uh new leadership kind of emerging yet?
- 1:12:10Speaker 11: I will say, uh, yes, but I I wouldn't get
- 1:12:16Speaker 11: into like specifics of certain individuals.
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: I think.
- 1:12:20Speaker 11: Right now it's everybody's kind of expected to to, you know,
- 1:12:25Speaker 11: carry themselves like a leader, and that's what it what
- 1:12:27Speaker 11: it should be, you know. And so I would say yeah,
- 1:12:31Speaker 11: but can't really get into specific so on like s
- 1:12:33Speaker 11: certain guys. But it's definitely a point of emphasis.
- 1:12:36Speaker 4: I mean, have you noticed you've been here now?
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: Do you know what last year was like?
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: From obviously?
- 1:12:43Speaker 3: Do you?
- 1:12:44Speaker 4: Is there a lot of change behind the scene you
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: Do you notice Mike Verbo really put against in print
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: on this program?
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: I would say yes, he's definitely putting his imprint on
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: the program.
- 1:12:52Speaker 11: And and like I said earlier, he's really on and
- 1:12:54Speaker 11: in on on connecting and learning us as individuals and
- 1:12:58Speaker 11: and setting that.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Foundation on and off the field. Like like I spoke about,
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: so yeah.
- 1:13:03Speaker 16: And what depends out to you?
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: But uh, coach Bookers coach Williams, who I guess had
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: a lot of the same defensive coach you'd see when
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: you after bench fellowship, you know, in Grado's hires a
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: head coach.
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: Now it's basically use staff.
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: I'm not certain point what what took them like looking.
- 1:13:19Speaker 11: Those gus, Uh, I would say, just uh, every day
- 1:13:23Speaker 11: there there's a lot of energy and and we're really
- 1:13:25Speaker 11: focused on the small details.
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: And so that really stands out to me and I
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: and I'm appreciative of that. Yeah.
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Can you spend a lot of time watching the typeans
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: defense and their safeties in particular?
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: I would say, we we watch uh eh, all ball.
- 1:13:41Speaker 11: You know it's not just them, We watch all ball,
- 1:13:44Speaker 11: any any any good ball around the league that applies
- 1:13:48Speaker 11: to us which we wanna play football, We'll watch it.
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: So yeah, it's a detail. You just met it Like
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: they're big on the little details. You know what what
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: example alignment assignment?
- 1:13:57Speaker 11: You know, eyes are consistent playing and play out, you know,
- 1:14:02Speaker 11: knowing people's names and and things that may not seem.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: Like a big deal, just like little stuff like that.
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: If we go over it, it's possible that we we
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: need to know it.
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: I would say, so as moom sat there, it's a
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: whole new coaching stats specific defensive side of the ball,
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: is it? I'm trying to play with toll Owans. How
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: would you describe his coaching style? See some of my
- 1:14:24Speaker 3: even media we have to talk to that much.
- 1:14:26Speaker 15: Just how would you like describe him?
- 1:14:28Speaker 10: And what's a what's that like?
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: He's about his business?
- 1:14:31Speaker 11: Uh, he treats his like pros And I would say
- 1:14:34Speaker 11: he he has a a good dategy as well, you know,
- 1:14:37Speaker 11: ready to work.
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: So you know, I'm excited to work with him.
- 1:14:43Speaker 8: Coach Williams and the coaching staff on the defensive side
- 1:14:46Speaker 8: and talked a lot about wanting this.
- 1:14:49Speaker 16: Do you tends to be aggressive?
- 1:14:50Speaker 8: Played aggressively and playing force and violence?
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: How does that fit into your play style?
- 1:14:59Speaker 10: Uh?
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: I would say that's what I want to do as well.
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: I would say that.
- 1:15:04Speaker 11: I would say we aligned in that way. I want
- 1:15:08Speaker 11: to I want to be violent and you know, aggressive
- 1:15:12Speaker 11: just like they want to be and so I would.
- 1:15:14Speaker 2: Say it it fits in my play stuff pretty good. Yeah,
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: were you two more questions?
- 1:15:19Speaker 16: Guess how were you familiar with market SOPs and Craig
- 1:15:21Speaker 16: Woodson before they were added to the room, And what'spend
- 1:15:23Speaker 16: on getting to know those?
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: Yeah? I watched, Uh, I was aware of them.
- 1:15:28Speaker 11: I watched the mom when we was in Vegas, and
- 1:15:31Speaker 11: so I was definitely a word of me and having
- 1:15:34Speaker 11: them in a room, I feel like an experience.
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: Has been good.
- 1:15:38Speaker 11: It's really early, but I can definitely tell smart smart
- 1:15:41Speaker 11: ball players, really really smart ball players, and they take
- 1:15:44Speaker 11: it seriously.
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: So I appreciate that.
- 1:15:46Speaker 6: Do you work in your connectivity within the program for
- 1:15:49Speaker 6: something you learned about coach Crabel for coach Williams if
- 1:15:53Speaker 6: you didn't know.
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: For uh, not a whole lot. I can really say,
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: kind of keep it well, keep it with each other.
- 1:16:00Speaker 11: But I would say they're very big on family, and yeah,
- 1:16:06Speaker 11: I would say that's one thing that I picked up
- 1:16:07Speaker 11: on to take it very seriously and that includes us,
- 1:16:11Speaker 11: you know the building.
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: So yeah, thanks, appreciate you.
- 1:16:17Speaker 14: And now great moments in.
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: History.
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: No one was worth a big head.
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: He was he was had also didn't wait till the
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: break right as soon as the food arrived, he would
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: just shut his microphone off, move it away, and start eating.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: But seriously, yeah, he'd be done before the break started up.
- 1:16:37Speaker 15: He'd actually be good sentence in an argument with Fred
- 1:16:39Speaker 15: and and if the producer would come in with the food,
- 1:16:42Speaker 15: he would stop.
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: What he was doing it.
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:16:44Speaker 15: Yeah, he would be arguing, you know, passionately about something
- 1:16:48Speaker 15: and it would just like drop everything and tread be like, oh,
- 1:16:50Speaker 15: you can't.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: Even have like the producer go down because you know
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: they'd have the media meal, so you know, just make
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: us a plate. So he'd come back with like maybe
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: six or seven sandwiches, and the moment he put it
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: down to the table, they can't just bomb just jump
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: on high metabolism.
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: Guy h just always eating, always eating.
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: But he has always eating, but always work out.
- 1:17:12Speaker 4: Yeah sure yeah.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: If he ever slows down in his workout, he's gonna balloon.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: The rest of his body will catch up to his head.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: That's another great moment from all right back here a

- 1:18:16Speaker 3: Oh yeah, what have we got? We have a history
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: made today we do.
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: What's that that?
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: There's been a new pope named new Pope, first ever
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: from swamps, first close, first American. It's Bobby from doesn't
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: say where.
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: Cardinal provosts from Chicago, Illinois, first.
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: Ever from the US, first ever American pope.
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: We got a pope?
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: Is he the.
- 1:18:40Speaker 7: TikTok?
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: Good for the pope? So we have a Chicago Pope.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: Chicago Pope sounds like one of those CBS series.
- 1:18:48Speaker 7: I feel like Chicago Pope.
- 1:18:50Speaker 8: I feel like Chicago Fire, Chicago med Chicago.
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: Used to Chicago true thing, and that was that was
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: a good little like together Chicago Pope, Chicago Poop.
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: I felt like that, We'll see We'll see a million
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: promos for it during super you know, during the football
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: games on Sunday after the game.
- 1:19:10Speaker 6: Yeah, there was like one Pope murderer for like the
- 1:19:14Speaker 6: first like thirty five years of my life. I feel like,
- 1:19:16Speaker 6: and now we've had like three popes in the past,
- 1:19:18Speaker 6: like I could just see it, you know, remember Pope
- 1:19:20Speaker 6: John Paul.
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: He gets into like Pope John Paul the second, follow
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: Pope John Paul the first, so like within a month.
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: So I didn't realize in my childhood. Fred probably he
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: probably didn't have a favorite Pope then because he didn't
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: know who was going to.
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: Wear it, right, He goes right, Chicago Pope. You know,
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: I'm just thinking of the I'm just thinking of like
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: what the scenarios would be Chicago Pope tonight on Chicago
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: You'll maybe take up my mind, you know.
- 1:19:53Speaker 7: Things like that rosary beads this that's like that's.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: Like when Rosary be He's a different kind of pope, right,
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: He's a pope with an edge.
- 1:20:06Speaker 7: This pope isn't sitting taking it sitting down anymore.
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: You don't want this smoke. You don't want the smoke smoke,
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: you want the white smoke. You want the white smoke.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: And black women are always hitting on him and he
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: always has to say no that rope. You don't want
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: to know.
- 1:20:19Speaker 8: Yeah, my grandmother's listening.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: Have nothing to do.
- 1:20:25Speaker 6: The same thing as I'm flashing back to like La
- 1:20:27Speaker 6: to a superhero, I'm flashing.
- 1:20:28Speaker 7: My La days and something that the pis exactly I
- 1:20:31Speaker 7: see it.
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: Who could we get for this role?
- 1:20:35Speaker 11: Like?
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: Are we casting Charlie she.
- 1:20:39Speaker 1: I just thought Chicago Pope? No, it's got to be
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: John Goodman, John good You guys are naming all.
- 1:20:45Speaker 4: People Tom Selling Tom sell It, Yeah, I mean, is
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: he's still doing Blue Bloods? Is that like in like
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: season twenty it's over.
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: They're going to start a Boston version with just Donnie.
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: But he was one that had a bad reputation of like,
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: don't you don't want to work with Tom Sellis? He
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: was toughs. That's disappointing. What's I love Magnagnum, Yeah, thank
- 1:21:10Speaker 3: you Magnum, p.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: I, Matt Mitch and Saratoga getting back to Hall of Fame.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: Quick hypothetical, say Adam Gutten this year, who do you
- 1:21:20Speaker 1: think would have gotten next year? Gronk or Edelman? I
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: would say Gronk by a thin margint f Yeah.
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: I would agree. Yeah, but that would be that would
- 1:21:30Speaker 3: be that someone would just be like I would feel
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: bad to a third person pretty much, whoever it was.
- 1:21:35Speaker 4: See I do. I would have done it together, but
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: I know we can't do that apparently, But I just
- 1:21:41Speaker 4: feel like those two, particularly going in together, would make
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: a ton of sense, like they're like best friends.
- 1:21:47Speaker 7: Then you might talk about doing a little bigger than
- 1:21:49Speaker 7: just out there.
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: If you do. Those guys sound coming down.
- 1:21:52Speaker 4: I saw that creaking news and nothing I could do. No, Yeah,
- 1:21:56Speaker 4: that I don't know.
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:21:57Speaker 6: One more weird thing though I thought about with Adam
- 1:21:59Speaker 6: is like he has a whole exhibit in the Hall
- 1:22:02Speaker 6: of like the kicking thing, Like he's he's not in
- 1:22:04Speaker 6: the hall, but like his kick is in the hall
- 1:22:06Speaker 6: with the video board, you know, going there and attempted.
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: From from the other snow game right, right, that's in
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: really good shape.
- 1:22:13Speaker 8: Maybe if he finally gets in, we can finally do
- 1:22:15Speaker 8: your content ideas.
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: I want to what's that idea?
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: It's really good.
- 1:22:19Speaker 7: It's like a hidden camera, like you know, ad inventary working.
- 1:22:22Speaker 8: He's working the exhibit working.
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: We put some dumb glasses on him in a little
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: hall outfit and he's trying to teach Peo like a disguise. Yeah,
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: he's like you know, and people like, who's this guy?
- 1:22:32Speaker 4: They do that like well uncle Drew obviously Kyrie. But
- 1:22:34Speaker 4: like I remember one Rinaldo like dressed up like in
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: a disguise and he was just out on like the
- 1:22:40Speaker 4: streets of uh, you know, Madrid probably, and he was
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: just like absolutely roasting people with a soccer ball. And
- 1:22:46Speaker 4: then like this kid literally started to cry as he
- 1:22:48Speaker 4: was like revealing himself. A kid literally broke down in tears,
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: he was so happy.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: There's one that goes around on your social media platforms, Alex.
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: It's like it's the guy. It's in the gym and
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: the guys in like this one piece overall with the
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: broom and he's watching these you know, big guys left
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: and he's like, hey, can I try and one of
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: them anything lifting twice the way.
- 1:23:11Speaker 8: Yeah, didn't Eli do something like that recently out of.
- 1:23:14Speaker 4: College as a walk on powers.
- 1:23:17Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, something like that.
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fun, Kelly and Brooklyn writes, and watching Welker
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: in his prime in a Patriot's uniform was incredible. Paul
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: would agree. Week after week after week, Welker made big
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: catch after big catch, third and long, Welker for the
- 1:23:32Speaker 1: first Every time Welker created that position, Welker walked so
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: Edelman could run. For those who were not born yet
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: are still in diapers, they're always going to go Edelman.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: They just don't understand what those years were like watching Welker.
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: He was a madman, a blue eyed lunatic.
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: I like the blue islanitic.
- 1:23:49Speaker 6: That's he was special, that's you know, And that's why
- 1:23:51Speaker 6: I think you get lumped in as slot receivers and
- 1:23:54Speaker 6: they do similar things. But I just I'll never forget
- 1:23:57Speaker 6: the feeling of like, holy crap, this's Welker. Guy's awesome
- 1:24:00Speaker 6: and he's tiny. He looks like a kid out there,
- 1:24:02Speaker 6: but no one can cover him.
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: I was just gonna say Troy Brown was before Welker.
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: Like as much as I like, I love Welko Yeah,
- 1:24:08Speaker 3: Brown was a slot receiver who caught one hundred passes
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: and basically was the offense.
- 1:24:12Speaker 4: They did change the role, you know, they the two
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: thousand and seven Patriots, basically we're at the forefront of
- 1:24:19Speaker 4: eleven personnel taking over the league and three receivers and
- 1:24:22Speaker 4: playing like a true slot and you know, Welker was
- 1:24:25Speaker 4: like the first true not maybe not the first, but
- 1:24:28Speaker 4: like he's the one that kind of pioneered it a
- 1:24:31Speaker 4: little bit and like to the emailer's.
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: Points, Wayne Gebet, Yeah, and you know, really.
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: Played inside all the time and was doing it at
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: a really prolific level. And then like then defenses had
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: to you know, invent the slock corner more often and
- 1:24:46Speaker 4: like use that and like it did really change. Even
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: like Josh McDaniels deserves some credit for what they were
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: able to do with schematically. With all that, like there's
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: a case to be made that, you know, we play
- 1:24:57Speaker 4: football now the way that it's played because of of
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: Welker and the two thousand and seven Patriots.
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:25:03Speaker 4: Yeah, Wow.
- 1:25:04Speaker 7: The Welker land in Washington Is that where he is now.
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: Coaching? Yeah? Yeah, Kylon Pembroke, I personally dislike how the
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: Patriots do their Hall of Fame selection. Here's how I'd
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: fix it. One, have five players on the ballot, not three. Two,
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: allow multiple players to be selected.
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: Three.
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: The way players are selected is by having a certain
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: vote threshold that the player has to meet to get in. Example,
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: they need five thousand votes to get in. Four. If
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: no player meets the threshold, no one gets in. Yeah.
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: I don't hate it. I don't hate it.
- 1:25:39Speaker 1: And that's kind of more like I know the Pro
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: Football Hall of Fame is not a fan vote, but
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: that's you have to get.
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: A threshold of votes, right, I don't hate the threshold.
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: I got what he was getting at there. Yea, How
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: hard was it for you guys when you're putting this
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: all together to figure out how you wanted.
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: To do the voting?
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: I mean, I don't think I had anything to do
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: with it.
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: You didn't started. We were just this is how we're
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: doing it. And then people expressed reticence and were summarily
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: dismissed and ignored.
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: But I think overall it works. Yeah, nobody who has
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: been nominated. I mean it's taken time, but they will
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: eventually get in.
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: I disagree.
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: Who are we missing?
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: There are guys that haven't been nominated that haven't.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: No, I think eventually they will get in. That's what
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: I'm saying. Oh, well, we can just say I think
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: Welker is eventually going to get You have a lot.
- 1:26:29Speaker 3: More faith in that than I do.
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: I guess I do.
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: Like I think there are going to be guys that
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: aren't going to get in, or they're going to get
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: in in twenty years, and then what good is that?
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: Well isn't that the same with the Pro Football Hall
- 1:26:40Speaker 1: of It?
- 1:26:40Speaker 3: Yes, there's flaws with that too.
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: Right, So there's no perfect thing. I don't think that
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: you can make it perfect. What's the perfect way for you?
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: I don't know what the perfect way is, but lining
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: them up one at a time is, in my opinion,
- 1:26:53Speaker 3: the worst way to do it.
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: I think this.
- 1:26:57Speaker 3: So what this emailer I think has a better You
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: think had away?
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: Yeah? I don't know.
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: I just I think, like, not everybody gets in, but
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: if there's a lot of worthy candidates at once, they
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: should go.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: In all together.
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: Sure.
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: Also, last year just then you're gonna run.
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: Out, No, you're not.
- 1:27:15Speaker 8: Last year just created a speed bump in the system
- 1:27:18Speaker 8: kind of where if you knew Tom was going in
- 1:27:20Speaker 8: no matter what, and you're waiving the four year period.
- 1:27:24Speaker 8: Maybe still have the vote for everyone else because time's
- 1:27:28Speaker 8: going in any ways, right, I think.
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: That screwed us up last year.
- 1:27:34Speaker 4: Yeah, so Brady in June and then.
- 1:27:35Speaker 8: Like you're still has nothing to do with it and
- 1:27:41Speaker 8: can go in you would ineligible, and then you're putting in.
- 1:27:45Speaker 8: And that's kind of poetic to put VINETII and Tom
- 1:27:48Speaker 8: Brady in together, especially if Tom's just a shoe in.
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: Yeah, but there I mean, I do like the idea of, yeah,
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: there's gonna be years where you don't have one. Yeah,
- 1:27:56Speaker 3: and that's unfortunate, but that could happen, But there also
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: could be usually have three or four. You know, if
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: if you have a ballot like this year, my guess
- 1:28:05Speaker 3: is you would have gotten three guys in because you
- 1:28:07Speaker 3: have three over the top worthy candidates. But that won't
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: always be the case. That's so that's the only fear
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: is is you get to a point where you're like,
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: here's the three. But I just want to get to
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: the point where people can sort of enjoy the experience
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: of the recognition and not kind of like Bill Parcells
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: like right now is what mid eighties yeah, you know, yeah,
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: it's great, but it would have been better for him
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: if it was ten years ago, you know. And that's
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: just an example. There could be some players that by
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: the time they get in, going one at a time,
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: won't be able.
- 1:28:47Speaker 4: To enjoy it. Well then Leon Gray, right, yeah.
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: But that was you know, yeah, he passed early, right,
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: I mean.
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: We didn't have this back then.
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: You know, it's a long time ago.
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: Uh, comel from Georgia. I know the Hall of Fame
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: is mostly about players, but what about coaches? Bill Belichick
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: and I'm assuming Josh McDaniels will get in. Do we
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: see any other coaches getting it?
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: I don't know, but I wouldn't make the last assumption.
- 1:29:14Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I mean Dante's in, and then Bill will
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: get in when.
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: He's Yeah, Bill, Bill's automatic.
- 1:29:21Speaker 6: We've talked a little bit about Chuck Fairbanks and you
- 1:29:24Speaker 6: know his worthiness, especially now with Parcels going in.
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: I think Chuck Fairbanks is a strong candidate. I've argued
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: on his on these behalf a couple of times. He's
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: been on the ballot. He's a guy who has been
- 1:29:35Speaker 3: on the ballot and he will not ever get in.
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: I unless he's put in by a committee, separate committee.
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: I'm never going to get voted in. Yeah, that's past
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: Ray very not probably not. I mean that's never going
- 1:29:46Speaker 3: to get voted in. Should I would say yes on
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: Fairbanks probably know on Belly, but for the same reasons
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: that see like in my view, like Fairbanks kind of
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: made the Berry teams. That's why your Fairbanks extra credit.
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: But there's no like decisions who's in who's out there.
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: That's where there's no set way. That's all individual. Like
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: Fred and I always argue we like a smaller hall.
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: That's probably why Fred you push back on the multiples
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: in a year because you like smaller.
- 1:30:18Speaker 6: Yeah, but I just could you ever imagine that happening
- 1:30:22Speaker 6: though with the committee where you just you guys talk
- 1:30:24Speaker 6: about people and you just say, I don't think we
- 1:30:26Speaker 6: really have somebody.
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: Not for the near future.
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: Based on the eleven or twelve nominations we get every
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: single year. The problem the last three or four of
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: them would stun you. First of all, they would make
- 1:30:40Speaker 3: you go to the media guy Devan to figure out
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: who these guys even were. But old school people they're not,
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: I know, is.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: You know, see the system we have would be fine
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: within the Jets because they'd be struggling somebody.
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: Yeah right, Nope, we can't put them in every year.
- 1:30:59Speaker 4: I do feel like some of those older guys though,
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: like Chuck Fairbanks, like now that my generation is starting
- 1:31:04Speaker 4: to realize that you don't just win Super Bowls every year,
- 1:31:07Speaker 4: like some of those guys, Like I don't know if
- 1:31:09Speaker 4: we would vote for them necessarily, but like yeah, but
- 1:31:12Speaker 4: like I think you start to fred one of those Yeah.
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: Like you know, we were talking yesterday on Catch twenty
- 1:31:18Speaker 4: two about some of like you know, not just John Hannah,
- 1:31:21Speaker 4: but like Stanley Morgan and Mike Haynes and Andre Tippitt
- 1:31:25Speaker 4: and like, well now it's like, well, yeah, they could
- 1:31:27Speaker 4: probably use it. Leon gray Or and Andre tippittt liked
- 1:31:30Speaker 4: when the Dynasty was rolling, it was like whatever, right,
- 1:31:34Speaker 4: But like now I feel like there's a maybe a
- 1:31:36Speaker 4: little bit more appreciation for like a fair Banks.
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: Dave Boston, Dave Writes, and Evan and Barth spoke about
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: retired numbers yesterday, mentioning that twelve and fifty six should
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: never be issued again. Evan also mentioned eighty seven not
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: being issued again. I know fifty seven has not been
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: issued since Steve Nelson retired, would you all be willing
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: to issue fifty seven again? Absolutely?
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: Is fifty seven not retired?
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: I don't think it is.
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: Why hasn't it been issue?
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:32:06Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 1:32:06Speaker 4: I have the double check on if it has or
- 1:32:08Speaker 4: hasn't should be, but the only.
- 1:32:10Speaker 1: So that you can't retire numbers in football.
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: There's a lot of retired numbers talk because of Abuel
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: Carter trying to take Lawrence Taylor toever so that that's
- 1:32:21Speaker 4: come up, and I've seen I've seen some people this
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: is kind of what sparked it. I've seen a lot
- 1:32:24Speaker 4: of people have the take of being anti retired numbers altogether,
- 1:32:28Speaker 4: like we shouldn't retire any numbers and.
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: It should be just like so special. Yeah, it should
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: be like Tom Brady eighty and then no other regard.
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: Well that was just my only point. Like these people
- 1:32:38Speaker 4: were like no retired numbers at all. It's like, I'm sorry,
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: but like no one's wearing twelve again, Like that's not happening.
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: Like I don't care what if you think that you know,
- 1:32:49Speaker 4: whoever else you know that's up there that probably shouldn't
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: be up there. To some people, like whatever, but like
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: twelve is like that's different.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: But the problem with football is unless you get into
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: start starting getting into triple digits or decimals, you always
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: need at least sixty or somewdd numbers available. You start
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: retiring all these numbers and you're gonna run out.
- 1:33:11Speaker 3: So according to Wikipedia, which is a great source, Steve
- 1:33:18Speaker 3: Nelson's number is retired.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: It is retired.
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: So it's twelve for Brady obviously, twenty for Gino, forty
- 1:33:24Speaker 3: for Mike Haynes, fifty seven for Steve Nelson, seventy three
- 1:33:27Speaker 3: for John Hannah, seventy eight for Bruce Armstrong, seventy nine
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: for Jim Lee Hunt, and eighty nine for Bob d
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: It's a funny story about the Bruce Armstrong one.
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: I'm not sure what you see before when the Sullivan's here,
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: they started retiring these numbers and it was premature. Yeah,
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: like these guys shouldn't have their numbers retire.
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: I would say that the defensive guys d I mean,
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: Steve Nelson had a worthy of conversation.
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: It was a great pay.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: He was a great player, Hall of.
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: Famer, no doubt, But you shouldn't have a retired number.
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: Like under your guys. Yes, you're right, like guys shouldn't
- 1:34:04Speaker 3: have retired numbers, right because it's football, right. But if
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: you're going to talk about retiring numbers, he's in the conversation. Okay,
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: that's all I would say. I'm I signed more with.
- 1:34:14Speaker 8: Fred more so than like a Gronk who many to me,
- 1:34:17Speaker 8: it's twelve greatest.
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: Would would be the only number I would have.
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: You've got the Hall of Fame. Retired numbers is a
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: step above that.
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, I think twelve and seventy three for
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: the Patriots.
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: Have to be I mean, I could, I could listen
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: to that argument, but I would just say twelve.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I would like twelve.
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: It's everything. It's the accolades, individual, it's the titles, it's
- 1:34:37Speaker 3: the team achieved and everything that goes with it.
- 1:34:39Speaker 6: To me, seeing these numbers still in circulation, I'll use
- 1:34:41Speaker 6: fifty as an example for obvious uses, but it just
- 1:34:44Speaker 6: it brings back memories of those other players and you
- 1:34:46Speaker 6: know those that fifty six or you know, just throwing
- 1:34:49Speaker 6: out you don't see it anymore, you kind of forget.
- 1:34:51Speaker 6: It would be nice if he brought them back, and
- 1:34:52Speaker 6: then maybe the player who wears that number has some
- 1:34:55Speaker 6: kind of connection to the players who have worn it before, Like, yeah.
- 1:35:00Speaker 8: It was nice. Yeah, he just tweeted about is it
- 1:35:04Speaker 8: Henderson wearing thirty two?
- 1:35:05Speaker 7: Yeah, just like running back.
- 1:35:07Speaker 8: Cool to see, like he's not salty about it. I
- 1:35:09Speaker 8: think Devin's realistic in the fact that he's probably not
- 1:35:12Speaker 8: going to get his number retired. And I don't know,
- 1:35:15Speaker 8: it's cool even if it's like it's a defensive player
- 1:35:18Speaker 8: and an offensive player, but to just have some sort
- 1:35:21Speaker 8: of connection to that new generation.
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: Even made a joke out of it, and it'd be
- 1:35:24Speaker 3: good to see someone with some speed. God number.
- 1:35:31Speaker 4: It was two pointing to get fishing.
- 1:35:36Speaker 8: We're fishing.
- 1:35:37Speaker 4: Actually probably I think he ran a faster forty times
- 1:35:39Speaker 4: than Henderson did too, but like he was fast. We
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: were also talking about, you know, in college like well, well,
- 1:35:46Speaker 4: Campbell obviously had the seven patch and the number seven
- 1:35:49Speaker 4: and eighteen at LSU. Like I think it would be
- 1:35:52Speaker 4: cool if like we had that a little bit in
- 1:35:55Speaker 4: the NFL, where like certain Jersey numbers were like like
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: fifty five at USC yeah yeah, or like you know,
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: the one we talked about was, you know, twenty four
- 1:36:04Speaker 4: is like your star corner, you know, where's twenty four?
- 1:36:07Speaker 4: Because of Tai Law and Grievous and Gilmour all were
- 1:36:10Speaker 4: twenty four.
- 1:36:11Speaker 8: So soccer ten is you're playing right, right, you know, like.
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: The numbers like that. You know, maybe like fifty four
- 1:36:17Speaker 4: is like the line like the mic starting mic, you know,
- 1:36:21Speaker 4: is fifty four. Obviously you'd have to earn it, like
- 1:36:25Speaker 4: or not just handing it out like it's nothing. But
- 1:36:28Speaker 4: you know, like at this point, like I feel like
- 1:36:29Speaker 4: Gonzo would like probably have what it would you could say,
- 1:36:32Speaker 4: would earn twenty Do you.
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: Think players would think about that? Because players have their
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: they come in with their own affinity number, right.
- 1:36:39Speaker 4: I think that's like they have a brand that's that's
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: obviously like the pushback on it.
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: But like agree with seven.
- 1:36:46Speaker 4: I had the mystique though, as it does in college,
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: Like I feel like they would go for it.
- 1:36:49Speaker 8: I agree with Evan, like Gonzo might be a different
- 1:36:52Speaker 8: case because like again like branding like the zero and
- 1:36:55Speaker 8: the zo, like it makes sense and it's kind of
- 1:36:58Speaker 8: natural for him to be wearing the zero. But if
- 1:37:01Speaker 8: you're coming into a team and you know that's the history,
- 1:37:03Speaker 8: that's the tradition, or it's a situation like a ten
- 1:37:05Speaker 8: in soccer, Like you want to wear that for that reason?
- 1:37:09Speaker 7: So what's the ten thing in soccer?
- 1:37:11Speaker 4: Top play maker?
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: Nine is the top goal scorer usually like pure goal scorer.
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: Not knowing, Yeah, David says, I'm also looking forward to
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: seeing the rival jerseys. Any idea when images will be available?
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: I think in the summer they might be releasing it.
- 1:37:28Speaker 6: Yeah, I think the summer, Yeah, around training camp.
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: Yeah. And finally I would love to see throwbacks this
- 1:37:36Speaker 1: year be red pants with the white jersey. I think
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: those are sharp.
- 1:37:41Speaker 3: They are sharp.
- 1:37:41Speaker 7: That's Paul's favorite, correct.
- 1:37:44Speaker 3: Yeah. I liked the white with the red in the
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: late seventies. There's a lot of color in the league.
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: Then looks good, good stuff.
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: I don't know we've had this discussion before. I just
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: know back then people thought our uniforms were stupid, and
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: now they're Oh, I love those, don't it.
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: Don't confuse the logo with the uniform. It's not the
- 1:38:08Speaker 3: same thing.
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: People.
- 1:38:09Speaker 4: Yeah, people didn't like the logo, they like the pat
- 1:38:13Speaker 4: Patriot weren't even alive when they actually wore them regularly.
- 1:38:17Speaker 3: So this is but I mean, do you have to
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: be alive to look at something and say do.
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: You like that or do you like this?
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just saying like people were, so they tried
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: to change it. I told you is one of them.
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: Eric is a he's like everything else with Eric. He's
- 1:38:33Speaker 3: an obnoxious purist.
- 1:38:34Speaker 2: But they were.
- 1:38:36Speaker 3: They had a contest in the late seventies. They were
- 1:38:39Speaker 3: going to change the logo and the new one that
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: they had designed got booed out of the stadium because
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: it was terrible. Right, They loved it because because they
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: liked the pat Patriot.
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: And the alternative wasn't better. I'm telling you I was
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: a season.
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: But you can say the alternative wasn't better. That means
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: that the pat Patriot was better.
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: I know, but they it sucked. The other one sucked worse.
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: Okay. I don't think a lot of people felt like that.
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: I thought it was just an average.
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: People they said. They said it looked like a guy
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: taking a dumb I said, I said that all the time.
- 1:39:12Speaker 3: He's wearing he's spiking the ball.
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: That's fine, but that's our problem is that our mascot
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: is a human being. That's our problem.
- 1:39:24Speaker 4: You don't Pat Patriot.
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: You know, if you're going to be if you're going
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: to be a human being mascot. It's got to be
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: like a pirate, you know, it's got to be like
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: a character, fictional character. Ours is a minute man, you know,
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: which is fine.
- 1:39:39Speaker 4: But like you know, said, like Lucky's pretty cool.
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: Well I don't even like Lucky. I don't like Lucky either.
- 1:39:44Speaker 4: Oh, I just feel like that's awful.
- 1:39:50Speaker 7: That's the one that somebody, somebody in MS team put
- 1:39:53Speaker 7: it together.
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: You don't see the comparisons. I see where they were
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: eventually change everybody, we get this. My one there is
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: the one of the time, Come on now is much better,
- 1:40:04Speaker 3: but it's it's based on the Elvis. Yeah, but the.
- 1:40:07Speaker 1: Elves is much better than that.
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: That's terrible. They're both terrible. But they literally got booed
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: out like they had a fan vote, like why they did,
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: and that's how it was the game against.
- 1:40:17Speaker 4: Me that looks like it was awful. School kid did
- 1:40:22Speaker 4: know that I'm not arguing on behalf on behalf.
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: Of this logo, that that logo was terrible, the one
- 1:40:27Speaker 3: that they tried, and people literally started chanting, we want
- 1:40:30Speaker 3: the old ones.
- 1:40:30Speaker 7: Just nostalgia, right, like that's what people love. I think
- 1:40:34Speaker 7: they didn't love it, but now that's.
- 1:40:36Speaker 2: It is what it was.
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: That's let's see Claire Wrights and hello everybody.
- 1:40:40Speaker 3: Liver Marina girl, She.
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: Says, I'm with Paul and Deuce. Too many numbers are retired.
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: You shouldn't see anyone in twelve ever again. But put
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: the rest back in circulation. It's more fun. Oh except
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: eighty seven.
- 1:40:55Speaker 3: That's not of course, Claire, she needs her tight end number. Yeah,
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: I just feel there's probably too many numbers retired. I'm
- 1:41:02Speaker 3: with I'm with Fred on that.
- 1:41:05Speaker 1: Tyler from Georgia says Chicago Pope should be played by
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: Dan Ackroyd and instead of a sitcom, it should be
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: the plot of Blues Brothers three.
- 1:41:15Speaker 3: We really we haven't nailed the line of disrespect of
- 1:41:19Speaker 3: Chicago Pope. No religion?
- 1:41:22Speaker 7: Well are you? Are you confirmed in the Catholic Church?
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: Bull? I am too. I'm communion James Pettigrew.
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: After first communion I did.
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: I was allowed.
- 1:41:35Speaker 8: It started to interfere with basketball and SOCCERD you just
- 1:41:40Speaker 8: disagree I'm not doing that. No, I actually didn't mind
- 1:41:44Speaker 8: it at all. It was more my mom like lugging
- 1:41:46Speaker 8: me to soccer, to dance, to gymnastics, to basketball, and
- 1:41:52Speaker 8: also her and my grandmother, like, I think it was part.
- 1:41:56Speaker 8: It was part my mom rebelling against her mother taking me.
- 1:42:00Speaker 8: But I never made my confirmation, So I can't get
- 1:42:02Speaker 8: married in a Catholic.
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: Two children in the same exact. They both received communion
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: and I did the same thing. That was just too
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: many extracurriculars. But it was not rebelling against my mother.
- 1:42:11Speaker 7: She's still mad about it.
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: It's fear that someday she's going to wake up and say, hey,
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: why were they not confirmed. I don't think she's really
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: thought about it.
- 1:42:19Speaker 8: Yeah, I can't get married in church.
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: I did. I did all this stuff, but in I
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: think junior in high school, I told my mother I'm
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: not going to church anymore, and she's like, oh, they
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: usually don't do that until college.
- 1:42:32Speaker 3: I love the role playing.
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: That was it. I was done. I'm done with it.
- 1:42:36Speaker 7: I was Eastern mass out in California.
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: My sister was visiting. Were trying to be good Catholic?
- 1:42:43Speaker 3: Oh really, you didn't want grand kids?
- 1:42:45Speaker 4: Pretty pretty pretty different directions.
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: And now you work for the Flyers. When I was in.
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: When I was when I was in Catholic school third grade,
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: they taught us that you had the They taught us
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: that you have the same chance of going to heaven
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: as putting an elephant through the eye of a needle, right,
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: but priests have a they're closer, they have a closer
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: connection to God. So I thought, okay, I want to
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: go to heaven a maximum, I got no shot at it,
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: so I better be a priest. So I told the
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: nuns that okay, I want to be a priest.
- 1:43:18Speaker 3: So like, oh, you're child.
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: But at the same time, I.
- 1:43:22Speaker 3: Was a bad like what you're spontaneously combusted like I wasn't.
- 1:43:26Speaker 3: I was a person who got in trouble a lot.
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: So this is Chicago.
- 1:43:33Speaker 8: Streets of Chicago.
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: So they so they would hold this against me. You know,
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: you want to be a priest, but you're you're misbehaving,
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: blah blah blah. So one day father Sister Berkman sat me,
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: stood me up in front of the class, and she
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: had these color pictures of a priest performing mass and
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: she said, this is in front of the class. She
- 1:43:51Speaker 1: said to me, do you want these? And I'm like, yeah,
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: I'll take them. She goes, all right, well you have
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: to promise from now on you'll be good. And I'm like, no,
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: I can't do that, Like I figured if I did that,
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: and then I'd be lying, like how can like a
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: fifth grade kid or whatever grade it was promised to
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: be good for the rest of their lives. So I said, no,
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: woman of God level. She freaks out, letter letter to
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: my parents, the whole man.
- 1:44:19Speaker 7: Yeah, that's what we got. So we got Chicago.
- 1:44:21Speaker 6: Pope is the eight o'clock hour, and then at nine
- 1:44:23Speaker 6: o'clock comes Father Fred a little lighter.
- 1:44:27Speaker 9: You know.
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: Father Fred is one of the characters I was going
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: to give you. And it was like, there's like a
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: sister Susan and she's hot, but she's like she's the
- 1:44:42Speaker 1: forbidden fruit, like he can't have her, but all the
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: guys want her.
- 1:44:47Speaker 3: Sister Kate was really.
- 1:44:50Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:44:51Speaker 3: I think we got Wednesdays, you know, Catholic Wednesdays on NBC.
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: We need to workshop Fred. He did things a little different.
- 1:45:02Speaker 4: Premiere on the.
- 1:45:03Speaker 8: First day, elent right, work not Tuesday, make more sense.
- 1:45:07Speaker 3: Come in on Friday and he's like he's got like
- 1:45:10Speaker 3: a roast.
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: In Australia Saturday.
- 1:45:16Speaker 7: Who oh, Father Fred.
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: College hot.
- 1:45:29Speaker 3: We're all we're all going to die except me, My God,
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: give me my God.
- 1:45:37Speaker 1: And then he's got the rabbi friend and he's like
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: Jackie Mason, you appreciate than you can all.
- 1:45:47Speaker 4: Be friends.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: To heaven.
- 1:45:49Speaker 4: That I do because I mean there's some pretty fantaus times.
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: I love.
- 1:45:54Speaker 3: Meet up with the Jewish delikind Like that's when you
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: know Fred has his condition.
- 1:45:58Speaker 4: I mean, why don't we have to be so stereotypical?
- 1:46:02Speaker 4: Why do you have to talk like this?
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: Look it ups, we're walking chalk telling. Everybody makes a joke,
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: all right, good stuff. James Pettig were the most interesting
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: Patriots fan in the world. He says, take the vote
- 1:46:17Speaker 1: out of the fans hands. I used to spend hours
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: locked in the toilet making prank phone calls to Comcast
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: of steam age, and I'm considered a culture Patriots fan.
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: No one over fifty is voting online for anything.
- 1:46:29Speaker 8: Really, you should not be on the toilet longer than
- 1:46:31Speaker 8: ten minutes.
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: I'm over fifty, I vote for online.
- 1:46:34Speaker 8: This is a it's a significant increase in your risk
- 1:46:38Speaker 8: for correctal cancer. What being on the toilet longer than
- 1:46:41Speaker 8: ten minutes?
- 1:46:42Speaker 12: Just playing on your phone, it's a it's are like
- 1:46:49Speaker 12: the phone is the problem because of the fumes.
- 1:46:51Speaker 3: Like why the phone.
- 1:46:55Speaker 8: Maybe it has something to do with the blood rushing
- 1:46:58Speaker 8: to your butthole.
- 1:46:58Speaker 15: It could be, well, you're not standing there.
- 1:47:03Speaker 8: Playing on the exposure from the back people from having
- 1:47:08Speaker 8: to time Cancerson, this is not one of the better segments.
- 1:47:15Speaker 3: No, I's usually I'm like, she knows exactly this one.
- 1:47:20Speaker 1: She's like, there the blood rushing near your butthole.
- 1:47:25Speaker 3: Gives me much power too soon, that's what happened. Now,
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: she's got to look it up.
- 1:47:31Speaker 8: To look it up, I know, I don't know if
- 1:47:35Speaker 8: I want to know then of it over here?
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: Oh boy, off season that Tommy Mallick guys five eleven.
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: Yeah, we're making a really big deal of Tommy below
- 1:47:46Speaker 4: right now. I'm not really sure why nobody knows what
- 1:47:50Speaker 4: you're talking about Good Morning Football for like all day.
- 1:47:53Speaker 3: I feel like you just runs.
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: It's the same show, right, It's no Good Afternoon Football, Right,
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: it's a two hour show that they've.
- 1:47:59Speaker 4: Been old bald, but still I've seen him. It's a
- 1:48:03Speaker 4: two hour show, and I think one hundred and fifty minutes.
- 1:48:05Speaker 11: Of it been.
- 1:48:08Speaker 2: Longer.
- 1:48:08Speaker 3: Thanes, I can't talk about.
- 1:48:12Speaker 4: Chicago last night, trying to fix the Celtics. I'm sorry, I.
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: Think now in Portland, Maine. I take exception with Alex
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: saying Slater is just a special teamer. The person who
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: emailed in, I think he is one of, if not
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: the greatest special team or in NFL history, and certainly
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: in Patriots history. He deserves it also Patriots and Nick
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: fan go rout for the Jets. Bozo oh.
- 1:48:40Speaker 8: I meant that in terms of like he plays special teams,
- 1:48:43Speaker 8: not he's just a special teamer.
- 1:48:46Speaker 4: I think that we're talking about and I don't think
- 1:48:48Speaker 4: they are talking about you.
- 1:48:49Speaker 8: Because he said he took exception with what Alex said.
- 1:48:52Speaker 4: I thought that there was an Alex who was an emailery.
- 1:48:57Speaker 4: I know you didn't say it like that.
- 1:48:59Speaker 8: Slayers biggest fan.
- 1:49:00Speaker 7: Yeah, that was still cracking me up.
- 1:49:02Speaker 6: The discussion where we're like Pop Douglas, he's one of
- 1:49:05Speaker 6: Drake May's weapons, but he's not a weapon.
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:49:07Speaker 3: That's it. That's a nism. It's one of the few
- 1:49:10Speaker 3: things that I actually use that he brought to the
- 1:49:12Speaker 3: table consistently. You know, there's a difference between a guy
- 1:49:15Speaker 3: who gets gets ten sacks in a ten sack guy.
- 1:49:18Speaker 2: There you go, there you go.
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: That's how I believe, that's how it originated with Mark
- 1:49:24Speaker 3: Anderson is a guy who had ten sacks, but he's
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: not necessarily a ten sack guy.
- 1:49:28Speaker 4: That's fair, I mean, not in that case.
- 1:49:30Speaker 3: That but that's how we use it, you know. Like
- 1:49:32Speaker 3: it's like when you say a lot of times when
- 1:49:35Speaker 3: you watch a receiver who runs a four to two,
- 1:49:37Speaker 3: but he doesn't play to that. There's a differ between
- 1:49:40Speaker 3: a four to two.
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: Guy and.
- 1:49:43Speaker 7: Taekwon runs a four two, but he's not a four.
- 1:49:45Speaker 3: Hill is a four to two guy, but he might
- 1:49:48Speaker 3: not run a four to two anymore, do you know
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: what I'm saying? Like his play speed is clearly faster
- 1:49:53Speaker 3: than everybody else.
- 1:49:53Speaker 4: There was a lot of guys like that in this
- 1:49:55Speaker 4: draft that ran a lot faster than I thought they would,
- 1:49:57Speaker 4: And I was like, no, not not pas in the
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: eye test, no place speed, place speed over time speed
- 1:50:04Speaker 4: all day.
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: So James Petty also brings up another point. We're talking
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: about retired numbers and how that's the pinnacle, then what
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: is the statue.
- 1:50:14Speaker 4: Higher pinnacle that's even the high.
- 1:50:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I'm not a big statue.
- 1:50:21Speaker 7: We're still doing that Brady statue.
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: It's got to line up, you know. We'll see when
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: the schedule comes out. If we have what the Fox
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: games are, maybe we can line that up. It's because
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: I kind of think he needs to be here when
- 1:50:34Speaker 1: you do it, right, Yeah, that's what.
- 1:50:37Speaker 4: They did, Like when they revealed the Rocky statue. That's
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: exactly what you can't just like have Rocky Nott there.
- 1:50:42Speaker 6: He don't let Culver Lank show up and hopefully down
- 1:50:47Speaker 6: days doesn't his motorcycle buy and throw his helmet at
- 1:50:49Speaker 6: the statue.
- 1:50:50Speaker 4: Oh yeah, because he's angry because you old man ain't
- 1:50:53Speaker 4: got no hot. Well he died. I'll just recreating the
- 1:50:58Speaker 4: sound of.
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: Jack and and Ava.
- 1:51:07Speaker 4: That's a different movie.
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: Sorry, different movie. That's four Jack and and Hitting on
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: another subject we were talking about, it says I lived
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: in Chicago for nearly a decade, so I speak with
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: credibility when I say that Chicago is similar to Boston
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: in two significant ways. First, both Chicago and Boston have
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: large Irish communities that have a long history involvement in
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: city politics and corruption. Second, second, like Boston, Chicago is
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: home to two of the nation's most distinguished universities, the
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: University of Chicago and Northwestern I am not presuming to
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: say that those schools are equal to Harvard and MIT.
- 1:51:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't know.
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: Well, Megan might disagree, but yeah, I would say they
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: are excellent schools. But I just would say that Boston
- 1:51:52Speaker 3: has much more than just Harvard and.
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: MIT Northeastern to name one.
- 1:51:55Speaker 3: I mean, right, a lot more than just that.
- 1:51:57Speaker 4: I just felt like it was the vibe was similar,
- 1:52:00Speaker 4: you know, like to feel to the city and like.
- 1:52:03Speaker 6: People listening that to me about water, which I didn't feel.
- 1:52:07Speaker 6: I didn't feel San Francisco was bostony.
- 1:52:10Speaker 4: No, I've heard that about Seattle too, that Seattle is
- 1:52:12Speaker 4: a little bostony.
- 1:52:13Speaker 7: A little bit.
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I like Seattle. I like Seattle.
- 1:52:16Speaker 4: But I've actually really heard that about Vancouver.
- 1:52:18Speaker 3: But I moved never been to Vancouver, have been there either.
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: All right, let's get some phone calls wrapped up here.
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: We're coming down the home stretch. Matthews in Arizona. What's up, Matthew?
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: H He was holding on for a long time, so
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: he gave up. I think he had a review of Chicago, Pope. Yeah,
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: or maybe he's going on is that a real show? Uh?
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: Noah is in Toronto? What's up? Noah?
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: Toronto?
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: Noah? Is it raining?
- 1:52:48Speaker 3: Uh?
- 1:52:48Speaker 6: No?
- 1:52:51Speaker 16: So I wanted to ask, what's the draft and the
- 1:52:53Speaker 16: free agency over if there was one thing you could
- 1:52:56Speaker 16: change about her off season, what change would you make?
- 1:53:00Speaker 10: And I'll give my answer.
- 1:53:02Speaker 16: I think, looking back, I would have made the Dk
- 1:53:04Speaker 16: Metcalf trade, give up the second forum. I think it
- 1:53:07Speaker 16: ended up being essentially trade on Henderson's topon Diggs and
- 1:53:11Speaker 16: maybe like five to ten extra million dollars for DK.
- 1:53:14Speaker 10: Metcalf, and I just I don't know.
- 1:53:17Speaker 16: I don't I'm kind of skeptical about Gigs the thirty
- 1:53:20Speaker 16: two coming off the Tornado, and I don't see running
- 1:53:23Speaker 16: backs as a valuable but I think Metcalf would have
- 1:53:26Speaker 16: been better in my opinion. But curious if you guys
- 1:53:30Speaker 16: could make one change to their off season.
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: Well, it's a good one.
- 1:53:33Speaker 4: That's what immediately came to mind.
- 1:53:35Speaker 3: I like that one.
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: Yeah, So would you rather have Metcalftain Henderson?
- 1:53:38Speaker 2: No, No, I would.
- 1:53:41Speaker 3: I'm going to go to the wide receiver with a
- 1:53:43Speaker 3: running bank. That's not a personal right.
- 1:53:45Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's the one fair second guess. Like,
- 1:53:49Speaker 4: if you're going to second guess anything, it's probably that.
- 1:53:52Speaker 4: I don't know. I mean, I probably take Dk. Also,
- 1:53:55Speaker 4: he's also approving.
- 1:53:57Speaker 3: And no was scenario. I would still want Digs too,
- 1:54:02Speaker 3: Like that wouldn't preclude you making that trade for dk
- 1:54:06Speaker 3: Metcalf shouldn't have eliminated adding Stefan Diggs. I would have
- 1:54:10Speaker 3: done both.
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: I like the ark of his question. Rodney's in Delaware.
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: What's up? Rodney?
- 1:54:15Speaker 11: Get it?
- 1:54:16Speaker 2: No one got it?
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: Fred fell flat Rodney. He was on for over in
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: an hour, so I don't blame him. Okay, he's gone. Well.
- 1:54:24Speaker 3: Plus, you know I haven't exactly eve been on point.
- 1:54:27Speaker 3: We had dallash Clock on this show. Rodney here want to.
- 1:54:29Speaker 2: Come on there?
- 1:54:30Speaker 1: And I don't know.
- 1:54:35Speaker 3: Da against Rodney Harri.
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: So Pascal in New York City has an explanation of
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: how someone could be both a Knicks fan and a
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: Patriots fan.
- 1:54:47Speaker 3: He says total.
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: He says, some people seem just don't seem to get
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: how this works. Some of us grew up in the
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: part of New England that's also the New York City
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: metro area. I'm a Patriots, Yankees, Rangers, Yukon fan because
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: I grew up in Fairfield County, Connecticut. Patriots and Knicks
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: are perfectly logical.
- 1:55:04Speaker 3: I think you can have favorite teams right. I don't
- 1:55:07Speaker 3: have a respect for that, Fred Connecticut. That's why Fred's
- 1:55:10Speaker 3: you don't hit Fred making fun of this guy.
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: No, No, I don't.
- 1:55:14Speaker 3: I was.
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: I was a Broncos fan.
- 1:55:15Speaker 3: Name a title winner, was a fan?
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: No, No, it wasn't because of that, because when I
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: was a Broncos fan, they had never won anything.
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: No, Fred, like a lot of different teams. It was
- 1:55:25Speaker 3: just I like the a f C.
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: I like like Willie Lanier and the Chiefs, like I
- 1:55:30Speaker 1: gravitated to the a f C West for somebody, I father, Fred,
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: Father Fred, what is that? That was the new pope?
- 1:55:48Speaker 8: And you were showing us that the first time.
- 1:55:52Speaker 12: It's like, oh that's funny, your excellency, Yeah, correct, Oh
- 1:56:03Speaker 12: my god, that's fine.
- 1:56:04Speaker 4: And I know I'm just gonna probably get me some heat.
- 1:56:07Speaker 4: But like just like pick one City and like their
- 1:56:10Speaker 4: teams like I do.
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: But.
- 1:56:15Speaker 6: Another team at all though, Ever, I was a Seahawks
- 1:56:17Speaker 6: guy for some reason. I still don't know why.
- 1:56:19Speaker 3: I like Steve Largent and I like the Seahawks growing up.
- 1:56:21Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: But did you like the Seahawks? Like if they played
- 1:56:24Speaker 3: the Patriots, you would look for the Seahawks. No, I
- 1:56:27Speaker 3: don't know.
- 1:56:28Speaker 4: I know there's a lot of people like that, so
- 1:56:30Speaker 4: I'm not trying to throw too much shade. I just personally,
- 1:56:33Speaker 4: like when you're from Boston and you like all the
- 1:56:35Speaker 4: Boston teams, like you're maybe like a little bit bigger
- 1:56:38Speaker 4: than a fan than like people that are from a
- 1:56:41Speaker 4: different state that are like, oh, I'm like a Patriots,
- 1:56:44Speaker 4: Cowboys Celtics.
- 1:56:45Speaker 8: And that's what I was gonna say. Patriots Knicks isn't
- 1:56:49Speaker 8: nearly as bad as like a Patriots Lakers fan, like
- 1:56:52Speaker 8: Patriots Lakers or like.
- 1:56:53Speaker 4: A Dallas Lakers fan, which happened. Cowboys Lakers happens a lot.
- 1:56:57Speaker 8: And then throw the Yankees in there of.
- 1:57:00Speaker 3: Teams that I liked, but my teams were the four
- 1:57:02Speaker 3: of Boston teams. But I had a lot of friends
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: that liked all kinds of different teams. Like when we
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: were growing up, Fred and I like, there were a
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: lot of people that didn't like the Patriots Necessarily you
- 1:57:12Speaker 3: could never watch them.
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: They weren't any good and they weren't on TV.
- 1:57:15Speaker 3: So you know, when I was little, it was like
- 1:57:17Speaker 3: Dallas Pittsburgh all the time, and you picked one of
- 1:57:20Speaker 3: those two teams. I always rooted for Dallas. They always lost.
- 1:57:22Speaker 4: The only team that I ever got into that was
- 1:57:24Speaker 4: like a little I was the Clippers because they're not
- 1:57:28Speaker 4: the Lakers, so there's no rivalry with the Celtics. When
- 1:57:30Speaker 4: I was living out there, that was Chris Paul Blake, Griffin,
- 1:57:33Speaker 4: DeAndre Jordan, JJ Reddick, Like they were really good. So
- 1:57:36Speaker 4: I went to a bunch of Clippers games, but I
- 1:57:38Speaker 4: never like was like caring. I just it was fun.
- 1:57:42Speaker 3: Never root for the Clippers over no.
- 1:57:44Speaker 4: And then when the Celtics would come to town, I'd
- 1:57:45Speaker 4: go to that game in Green Like I tried, I get.
- 1:57:48Speaker 3: You Seattle things. I tried to Seattle team that they
- 1:57:51Speaker 3: were fun. Steve Largen like st.
- 1:57:55Speaker 7: I had the football cards. But I tried to do
- 1:57:57Speaker 7: the Dodgers too.
- 1:57:58Speaker 3: I just I couldn't. You can't make yourself be a
- 1:57:59Speaker 3: f I don't think that's possible.
- 1:58:01Speaker 4: But the Clippers was pretty easy because Doc Rivers was
- 1:58:05Speaker 4: the coach at the time and JJ Redick is one
- 1:58:08Speaker 4: of my favorite players, so he was on the Clippers.
- 1:58:10Speaker 4: So that that team was, like, I was easy.
- 1:58:13Speaker 3: We were just destined to argue you.
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: I never played.
- 1:58:17Speaker 3: Oh did I hate g J Redim?
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: I mean Paul made fun of me. But until eighth grade,
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: I lived in New Jersey, so I was a Mets,
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: next Rangers and uh Jets fan.
- 1:58:26Speaker 3: I don't make fun of you for that.
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: I read the Brad Park book and he called the
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: Boston fans bush league, and then he got traded to
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: the Bruins. So that's kind of like how I was.
- 1:58:34Speaker 4: It kind of explains a lot anyway.
- 1:58:38Speaker 3: All right, that's gonna be like the Denver thing, like
- 1:58:40Speaker 3: all of a sudden, Denver's good.
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: And no, it wasn't all of a sudden. I was
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: a Denver fan when Craig Morton was the quarterback.
- 1:58:46Speaker 3: I went to the Super Bowl, but.
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: I was a fan before they went to the Super Bowl.
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: That was the payoff, that was, and I became even
- 1:58:53Speaker 1: more of a fan than when Elway became quarterback.
- 1:58:55Speaker 3: I became even more of a fan and they went
- 1:58:57Speaker 3: to four Super bowl Right. Well, you said the Paul
- 1:59:00Speaker 3: resonated with me.
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: I invested early, maybe maybe five. I was an early investor.
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: That's smart.
- 1:59:05Speaker 6: But like growing up here, I was in the eighties.
- 1:59:07Speaker 6: Even when the Patriots went to Super I remember, like
- 1:59:08Speaker 6: one of my that's friends. It was a huge forty
- 1:59:10Speaker 6: nine ers fan like he had all forty nine ers stuff.
- 1:59:12Speaker 3: I have a million, you know, friends like that.
- 1:59:14Speaker 7: People love the winners.
- 1:59:16Speaker 3: Yeah, sorry, he still likes the forty nine ers for
- 1:59:18Speaker 3: what it's worth.
- 1:59:19Speaker 1: All right, that's gonna be it for this edition of
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: Patriots Unfiltered. I hope everyone has a good weekend. What's
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: the weekend supposed to be like around here?
