- 1:24All right, guys, and it ships on May

- 1:27So really excited about that.
- 1:29It is a hardcover book, and really excited
- 1:31about that.

- 1:35I don't want you to be famished or
- 1:36anything like that, so please do go ahead
- 1:38and grab something and come on back to
- 1:41the show.
- 1:42Without any further ado, guys, let's get this
- 1:44started.
- 1:44This is Inspirations for Your Life, and the
- 1:46master topic for the week is how to
- 1:49rise into what's next in your life.
- 1:54Okay.
- 1:56When we think about this, this is actually
- 2:00today's topic, is how to rise into what's
- 2:02next in your life.
- 2:03Series 5, show 15, episode number 2, and
- 2:07I'm John Seymour, ladies and gentlemen, serial entrepreneur,
- 2:10engineer, marketing specialist, video producer, podcast host, coach,
- 2:13keynote speaker, graduate student and a passionate lifelong
- 2:16learner, and yes, soon I will be a
- 2:18published author.
- 2:19When something old loses power, something new can
- 2:22finally begin.
- 2:24This is all about renewal, courage, clarity, movement,
- 2:28and living hope and becoming proof that change
- 2:32is possible.
- 2:35So the granular topic for today, for Sunday,
- 2:39April 5th, 2026, is rise before you feel
- 2:43ready.
- 2:44I know that sounds hard for a lot
- 2:46of people because they don't want to rise
- 2:48until, you know, they feel 100% comfortable.
- 2:51But face it, guys, if you're waiting for
- 2:54yourself to be comfortable, you're never going to
- 2:55be comfortable.
- 2:56You've got to practice getting comfortable being uncomfortable.
- 2:59So number one, guys, is move before certainty
- 3:02arrives.
- 3:04Clarity is created through motion, not waiting.
- 3:08That's the truth, guys.
- 3:09Number two, readiness grows in the motion that
- 3:13we have.
- 3:14You become prepared by doing, not thinking.
- 3:19By doing, not thinking.
- 3:23That's important, guys.
- 3:24A lot of people I know want to
- 3:26do stuff, but then they procrastinate about, well,
- 3:29when should I start?
- 3:30When should I do it?
- 3:31And that's a very, very big problem.
- 3:33So readiness grows in motion as you become
- 3:37prepared by doing, not thinking.
- 3:40The more you do, the more you learn,
- 3:43the more you can, let's say, figure out
- 3:46what you've done right and what you might
- 3:48need to, let's say, change or pivot so
- 3:52that it comes out better next time.
- 3:55Number three, guys, courage comes after the first
- 3:58step.
- 3:59Nobody ever wants to take that first step,
- 4:02let's be honest.
- 4:03Action builds bravery.
- 4:04In real time, a wise person once said
- 4:08to me, John, you know, do the thing
- 4:10you fear most.
- 4:12Fear is just false, evidence of fear in
- 4:13real.
- 4:13So do that first.
- 4:16Your courage will show up and everything else
- 4:18will seem easier for you.
- 4:20All right.
- 4:20Number four, you do not need perfect proof.
- 4:24Progress does not require guarantees.
- 4:26Some people think it does, and they're still
- 4:29sitting on the bench waiting and will be
- 4:32for the rest of their life.
- 4:34Number five, start with what you know.
- 4:37Your current knowledge is enough to begin.
- 4:40You don't need to be an expert at
- 4:41something.
- 4:42You know, a wise person once said to
- 4:43me, John, you know, you don't have to
- 4:46be great to start, but you have to
- 4:49start to be great.
- 4:50You don't have to start to be great,
- 4:53but you have to, you have to start.
- 5:00You don't have to be great to start,
- 5:02but you have to start before you can
- 5:04be great.
- 5:05You don't have to be a winner when
- 5:08you start, but you have to start so
- 5:10you can become a winner.
- 5:11You don't have to become a winner when
- 5:13you start, but you have to start so
- 5:15you can become a winner.
- 5:16So you don't have to be that, but
- 5:19you have to start, right?
- 5:21That's important.
- 5:22Number five, guys, start with what you know.
- 5:26Your current knowledge is enough to begin, and
- 5:29that will attract more things in your life
- 5:31that can help you on your journey toward
- 5:33success.
- 5:35Number six, guys, action clarifies what fear hides.
- 5:41Movement exposes what hesitation conceals.
- 5:44Yes.
- 5:46So when we move, we develop this sense
- 5:49of inner confidence, something that maybe we didn't
- 5:53even think was possible.
- 5:56Number seven, guys, rise scared if you must.
- 6:03Rise scared if you must.
- 6:06Do things scared if you must.
- 6:08Fear is not a stop sign.
- 6:10It is a signal to grow.
- 6:12If everything was easy, everyone would be doing
- 6:17it.
- 6:17So I want to tell you that you
- 6:18need to rise.
- 6:21You need to sometimes do things while you
- 6:24are fearful.
- 6:25OK, that's really important.
- 6:28Number eight, guys, daily information and delay feeds
- 6:35doubt.
- 6:37Delay feeds doubt.
- 6:38The longer you wait, the longer fear becomes
- 6:43a problem.
- 6:45The more it festers in you, the more
- 6:47that it gets to you and says, oh,
- 6:49you know, you can't do this, and your
- 6:50body just says, OK, you're right, we can't
- 6:52do this.
- 6:54So that's an important thing to understand, you
- 6:58know, what that's all about.
- 7:01But I think a lot of people don't
- 7:02understand that.
- 7:04And it's an important thing, too, to understand
- 7:08how that all works.
- 7:13Momentum, number nine.
- 7:16Momentum will always outrun confusion.
- 7:19Movement clears the mental fog that we sometimes
- 7:21get in our head.
- 7:22It happens, right?
- 7:24But it also goes away.
- 7:26So momentum helps us stay on track.
- 7:28Momentum gives us that good feeling to keep
- 7:32doing things.
- 7:33Number 10, guys, hesitation steals clean energy.
- 7:39Overthinking drains your power.
- 7:42Being an engineer, I know myself, I've always
- 7:44been guilty of this, you know, overthinking.
- 7:46We have to know when to stop thinking.
- 7:49OK?
- 7:51I think that's an important thing to understand,
- 7:55that we have to realize that.
- 7:59And if we realize that, we can see
- 8:01that our life can become a lot easier.
- 8:05Not overnight.
- 8:09Not overnight.
- 8:11But hesitation steals that clean energy right beneath
- 8:15our feet.
- 8:17And overthinking drains your power.
- 8:19So don't get caught in either of these
- 8:22things, because they're just going to trip you
- 8:24up.
- 8:24All right?
- 8:25That's just the real truth.
- 8:26But some people don't want to hear something,
- 8:31because everybody feels they're perfect and that they
- 8:34don't need to make changes.
- 8:36I always feel that I can learn, regardless
- 8:38of how much I already know.
- 8:40I need to always be willing to learn.
- 8:43I think that's an important thing to understand,
- 8:49is that.
- 8:50Because if we can understand that, then maybe,
- 8:53just maybe, we'll change our perspectives.
- 8:57And that will affect our lives.
- 9:02Just maybe.
- 9:03Number 11, guys, small, bold steps change your
- 9:07identity.
- 9:08Consistent action reshapes who you are.
- 9:10I said that doing things and doing them
- 9:15with fear and being scared is better than
- 9:18not doing them.
- 9:20Okay?
- 9:21So you've got to do things and face
- 9:25the fear anyway.
- 9:25The fear is just false.
- 9:26Evidence of fear is real.
- 9:27And that's just the truth.
- 9:29So as I said, number 11, the small,
- 9:31bold steps change identity.
- 9:33Consistent action reshapes who you are.
- 9:36Similar to, like, a potter or a glassblower
- 9:41who keeps, you know, reshaping the glass into
- 9:43what he or she wants.
- 9:47Number 12, guys.
- 9:48Are you ready for number 12?
- 9:50Are you sure you can handle number 12?
- 9:51Do not wait for ideal timing.
- 9:54So many of us in life just say,
- 9:56oh, I'll wait.
- 9:56It's not the right time.
- 9:59Perfect moments never come.
- 10:01Perfect moments are illusions.
- 10:04Don't wait.
- 10:06Seize the moment.
- 10:08I want to share one I think that's
- 10:09very interesting.
- 10:11And that is people always say, you know,
- 10:13wait until our ship comes in.
- 10:16Right?
- 10:17But what happens is you can actually not
- 10:22have to wait for them.
- 10:23You can swim out to your ship.
- 10:26Don't wait for the ship to come.
- 10:28And don't wait for a perfect moment because
- 10:30a perfect moment is never going to come.
- 10:32And then you're going to be frustrated because
- 10:34you're never going to get to where you
- 10:35want to go because of this whole thing.
- 10:38And the whole thing is that you were
- 10:39waiting for that perfect moment, but there never
- 10:41was or will be a perfect moment ever.
- 10:46That's an important thing.
- 10:48That's a very, very important thing.
- 10:53Very important.
- 10:57It's important to understand that.
- 11:06I think if we experience it once, the
- 11:10next time we go back and do it,
- 11:11it's like, oh, wait a minute, it wasn't
- 11:12so bad.
- 11:13Right?
- 11:14Number 13, start with trembling hands.
- 11:18It happens.
- 11:19People get scared.
- 11:20People don't have the juxtaposition or the steadiness
- 11:24because they're scared.
- 11:26Action matters more than the confidence.
- 11:28You will build the confidence the more times
- 11:30you do it.
- 11:31You're afraid of speaking?
- 11:32Get up and speak.
- 11:34The more you speak, the more confidence you
- 11:37will build.
- 11:38True story, guys.
- 11:38I did stand-up comedy for a while,
- 11:41and the very first time I got up
- 11:42to do stand-up comedy, it was a
- 11:44nightmare.
- 11:45Now, I love speaking.
- 11:46Stand-up comedy is challenging.
- 11:50You have people in the crowd, let's say,
- 11:52that are not very welcoming to new people.
- 11:57They heckle you, and they hope you'll get
- 11:59offstage, but you have to hold your guns.
- 12:02And I remember being at this open mic
- 12:05night at a professional comedy club, and I
- 12:09remember them heckling me.
- 12:12And rather than almost like breaking down, like,
- 12:15oh, my gosh, what am I going to
- 12:16do, I called them out.
- 12:18I'm like, um, you, you're Jim, right?
- 12:22So looks like you can dish it out,
- 12:25but doesn't seem like you can take it
- 12:27back, does it?
- 12:31Number 14, readiness is open to you, but
- 12:36it's often a myth.
- 12:38Most people never feel ready in their life.
- 12:40They just decide and they move.
- 12:46They decide and they move.
- 12:49But some people never get that flair to
- 12:53get going.
- 12:54And then they're like, well, I'm still waiting
- 12:57for that signal.
- 12:59Yeah, we're not ready anymore.
- 13:00Or that ship has left.
- 13:06Number 15, brave is better than comfortable.
- 13:11I said you got to get practice getting
- 13:12comfortable being uncomfortable, right?
- 13:14So brave is better than comfortable.
- 13:15Brave is better than comfortable.
- 13:18Having discomfort is where the success starts to
- 13:23lie.
- 13:23That's where it comes in.
- 13:25No, no, no games there.
- 13:28Number 16, build confidence by moving.
- 13:32Belief follows action.
- 13:35Belief follows action.
- 13:38Now, it's not the other way around.
- 13:40Action doesn't follow belief.
- 13:42Belief follows the action.
- 13:46Take the action and then you believe.
- 13:49Okay?
- 13:50If you don't take the action, you might
- 13:55get stuck in the belief circle.
- 13:57So take the action and belief will follow.
- 14:01I think a lot of people new to
- 14:02this are like, well, wait a minute.
- 14:04That can't be the way it works.
- 14:05That is the way it works.
- 14:07It's not going to feel comfortable, guys.
- 14:11No.
- 14:12Not going to feel comfortable.
- 14:14So that's an important thing for us all
- 14:16to understand.
- 14:17Number 17, go with what is true now.
- 14:23Trust your current clarity.
- 14:24Trust your gut.
- 14:26Even when everything else around you says no,
- 14:29but when your gut says that, trust it.
- 14:32It's probably right.
- 14:34So go with what is true now to
- 14:36you and trust your current level of clarity.
- 14:40You'll be glad you did.
- 14:42Number 18, begin before the crowd understands.
- 14:47Vision comes before validation.
- 14:50Serial entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs always have a vision.
- 14:55It's not validating yet.
- 14:57The vision will come before the success ever
- 15:00enters the arena.
- 15:02And I think that's a scary thing for
- 15:03a lot of entrepreneurs and serial entrepreneurs are
- 15:06like, well, you know, I'm not getting that
- 15:08feeling.
- 15:09People aren't buying into me.
- 15:13It's a little lonely being a serial entrepreneur
- 15:15in the beginning because nobody wants to hold
- 15:18your hand.
- 15:19Nobody wants to support you.
- 15:20Nobody wants to board that plane, that train,
- 15:24right, or that boat while it's stationary at
- 15:28the dock, on the runway, in the station.
- 15:33They want it to be moving.
- 15:36They want to see that it's actually doing
- 15:38something before they risk their lives to get
- 15:41on it.
- 15:42They could get on it when it's stationary,
- 15:43but nah, that's too easy.
- 15:46And you know what?
- 15:47I don't really want to sit and wait.
- 15:50That's what they say.
- 15:52Number 19, guys, direction matters more than the
- 15:55speed.
- 15:56Progress beats perfection.
- 16:00Direction matters more than the speed you're going.
- 16:03If you're going the wrong direction, all right,
- 16:07progress beats perfection.
- 16:09So maybe you're trying to, I don't know,
- 16:13you're trying to learn something new.
- 16:16But if you're taking the path that's easy,
- 16:20you're probably not going to learn anything, I'm
- 16:23just going to be honest.
- 16:25Number 20, guys, your future is waiting on
- 16:29what?
- 16:30Movement.
- 16:31Nothing changes until you act.
- 16:35Let me say that again.
- 16:37Your future is waiting on movement and nothing
- 16:39will change in your life until you decide
- 16:42to act.
- 16:47That's an interesting thing, guys.
- 16:51Nothing changes until you decide.
- 16:57And acting sometimes can be very lonely because
- 17:00no one's there to support you.
- 17:03But if you want your future to go
- 17:05ahead, take the bold action.
- 17:11Take the step.
- 17:13Number 21, guys, step into the unknown on
- 17:18purpose.
- 17:19Growth requires intentional risk.
- 17:22I'm not saying do haphazard risks.
- 17:25Do some calculated risks.
- 17:28And when you step into the unknown with
- 17:31your core being and those values, you will
- 17:37grow.
- 17:38But there is a risk.
- 17:40Number 22, progress is born in uncertainty.
- 17:44Discomfort is part of transformation.
- 17:46I've said this to you.
- 17:47Transformation is a key part of success oftentimes.
- 17:53But uncertainty scares people because they don't really
- 17:56know where they're going to be.
- 17:57Did I make the right choice?
- 18:00It's kind of a gamble.
- 18:02Even though we may not all be gamblers,
- 18:04we're still gambling a little bit.
- 18:07We're taking that calculated risk.
- 18:10Or measuring it to say, hey, did this
- 18:12get me further?
- 18:13If not, what do I need to do
- 18:15to change?
- 18:17I said to you guys before that if
- 18:19you don't like something, as long as you
- 18:22can measure it, you can change it.
- 18:25And that's the truth.
- 18:26Most people go their entire life and don't
- 18:28ever learn how to measure something.
- 18:31Like, well, that's just how it is.
- 18:33Or the metrics.
- 18:35The what?
- 18:35The metrics of who?
- 18:36The metrics, the numbers.
- 18:39Number 23, guys, risk reveals your next level.
- 18:44What you avoid is where you must grow.
- 18:49I know that sounds hard for a lot
- 18:52of people.
- 18:54But what you avoid is where you must
- 18:56grow.
- 19:00Risk will always reveal your next level.
- 19:02What you avoid is where you must grow.
- 19:05And you might not like where you're going
- 19:07to need to grow.
- 19:08But that's where you need to grow.
- 19:10Next time, it will be easier.
- 19:12But the first time, it's not, guys.
- 19:15Maybe the first few times, it won't be.
- 19:18Number 24, you know, before I go to
- 19:21number 24, you know, writing a book the
- 19:23first time, I got to tell you, it
- 19:25was not easy.
- 19:26Yes, I've written many times.
- 19:28But this was different.
- 19:30Getting a book ready to be published, it
- 19:32was a lot different than writing articles, guys.
- 19:35It was uncomfortable.
- 19:36But I said, you know what?
- 19:37I'm going to do it anyway because I
- 19:39want to do this.
- 19:40Number 24 now, move even while you're learning.
- 19:44You do not need mastery to begin.
- 19:46I've said this.
- 19:47You don't need to be a master.
- 19:48You don't need to be an expert to
- 19:49begin.
- 19:49But you need to begin so you can
- 19:51become an expert.
- 19:53You don't need to be the expert.
- 19:54You don't need to be the specialist when
- 19:56you start.
- 19:58But you need to start so you can
- 20:00become that specialist, become that expert, become that
- 20:03master.
- 20:05Number 25, guys, waiting will not save you.
- 20:08Sorry, guys, it won't.
- 20:11Delay only postpones results.
- 20:14Well, you know what?
- 20:15I don't feel like doing it today.
- 20:17I'm waiting for it to feel a little
- 20:19more warm and fuzzy.
- 20:21No, that's not happening.
- 20:26You know, you've got to go outside sometimes
- 20:28when it's cold, right?
- 20:29Maybe you don't want to do that.
- 20:31But when we are uncomfortable, that's when change
- 20:35starts to set in.
- 20:37Number 26, trust the next right action.
- 20:41Clarity comes one step at a time.
- 20:45One step at a time.
- 20:46I didn't say all at once.
- 20:52I did not say all at once.
- 20:56I didn't say all at once.
- 20:58So that's important.
- 21:01Trust the next right action.
- 21:03Clarity comes one step at a time.
- 21:07Number 27, guys, rising is a decision first.
- 21:13Commitment creates the momentum.
- 21:16Commitment is your discipline.
- 21:18Your discipline is what forces you to keep
- 21:21doing the momentum.
- 21:23If you're doing exercises, oh, I'm tired, the
- 21:25commitment, the discipline, that's what gets you to
- 21:29keep doing the exercises.
- 21:33Number 28, guys, be early to your own
- 21:37growth.
- 21:37Do not wait for permission.
- 21:41You don't need to wait for permission.
- 21:44If you wait for permission, chances are you're
- 21:46going to miss the boat, the train, the
- 21:49plane, and it might not be coming back
- 21:52for a while, and it may not ever
- 21:55come back.
- 21:56So when you have a chance to board
- 21:58with your opportunity, board now.
- 22:01As they say in the airplane, the last
- 22:07call for boarding on flight X is now.
- 22:13Will you board, or will you wait behind?
- 22:17What may happen, what may not ever happen.
- 22:22Number 29, guys, start now.
- 22:25Adjust later.
- 22:27Progress beats perfection.
- 22:29I've said this before.
- 22:31Progress beats perfection.
- 22:34If we keep making a little progress, that's
- 22:38much better than saying we're perfect.
- 22:41Okay?
- 22:42Number 30, guys, rise before you feel ready.
- 22:46Your next level begins with your choice of
- 22:49decisions that you make.
- 22:53Rise before you're ready.
- 22:56Take the call.
- 22:57Take the action.
- 23:01Make the decision that will lead you to
- 23:03taking the action right now.
- 23:06Not later, not tomorrow, not next week, not
- 23:11this month, the ending, not this quarter, not
- 23:14the end of this year.
- 23:14Now.
- 23:16And I remember a wise person who would
- 23:21go down from his penthouse every day, and
- 23:23he would say something very interesting.
- 23:25He would say, do it now.
- 23:26Because if you don't do it now, you
- 23:30allow your body to just accept the fact
- 23:34that there is no urgency.
- 23:37When we create an urgency, we need, we
- 23:43must react.
- 23:45We must react.
- 23:47So rise before you feel ready.
- 23:51Your next level begins with your choice of
- 23:55decisions.
- 23:57Other people may not be ready for you.
- 24:00That's okay.
- 24:01Do it anyway.
- 24:03You may not feel you're ready.
- 24:05Do it anyway.
- 24:10Get my point?
- 24:11When you create the level of urgency, it's
- 24:14like your body says, all right, I guess
- 24:17I have to do this.
- 24:21Right?
- 24:22I think that's an important thing to understand,
- 24:26that we have to understand that one whole
- 24:29concept.
- 24:32That's an important concept that most people will
- 24:36never get.
- 24:43And the reason they don't get it is
- 24:45because they don't understand the sense of urgency
- 24:48is now.
- 24:52You might say, John, what's the urgency?
- 24:53What's the rush?
- 24:54I have no rush.
- 24:56Once you believe there's no urgency, there's no
- 24:59rush, you'll just keep letting time slip past
- 25:02you.
- 25:02And you'll miss the opportunities that could be
- 25:05right under your fingers.
- 25:07You'll let them slip through them.
- 25:13And that's hard, I know, for a lot
- 25:14of people here that are probably watching or
- 25:16listening to this.
- 25:18And I say that to you because most
- 25:21of you want to sit on the couch.
- 25:22Most of you want to feel good.
- 25:24You want to be comfortable.
- 25:27Success is not sitting on the couch, guys.
- 25:29Success is not being comfy in bed.
- 25:33That's not success, okay?
- 25:37Every feeling you do can't be comfortable.
- 25:41You've got to practice getting comfortable being uncomfortable.
- 25:45Does that make sense to all of you?
- 25:47If it does, then I hope you will
- 25:50choose to start taking these actions.
- 25:53I'm not saying that you have to move
- 25:55the entire space planet tomorrow.
- 25:58But I am saying to take some small,
- 26:01deliberate actions every single day of your life.
- 26:05Hopefully you're getting that.
- 26:07If, ladies and gentlemen, this message resonated or
- 26:10connected with you in any way, please make
- 26:15the choice as soon as this show is
- 26:18over to take action right now, today.
- 26:22No more excuses.
- 26:24Do one thing you have been delaying for
- 26:26so long.
- 26:28Progress is not built in waiting.
- 26:32It is built in action, movement.
- 26:36The moment you decide, that flip moment that
- 26:39you decide to act, everything in your life
- 26:43begins to shift in your favor.
- 26:47Everything.
- 26:51The whole idea of waiting puts your brain
- 26:54to a state like, okay, I guess it's
- 26:56not time yet.
- 26:57And then you keep waiting for some big
- 26:59signal, and then you miss the small signal,
- 27:02and then it goes right past you.
- 27:04You do not need to feel ready, guys.
- 27:07You need to be willing.
- 27:08Your future is not waiting for perfection.
- 27:10It is waiting for your courage to come
- 27:13to the surface.

- 27:33The only question I have for all of
- 27:36you is, if you can make the choice
- 27:40to change your life right now, why
- 27:49are you procrastinating and making excuses to not
- 27:54do it?
- 27:55Remember, success starts where it becomes uncomfortable.
- 28:01Have a great one, everyone, and be well.
