- 0:12Eight fifty thirteen ten WIV. You're twice of storm track forecast increasing clouds of
- 0:17high today of fifty seven. Currently it is thirty four. We've got a
- 0:21couple of clouds here at thirteen ten WIB A big weekend at the exhibition hall
- 0:26at the Alliant Energy Center. Oh, it's back the Wisconsin Fishing Expo.
- 0:30And joining us from the Wisconsin Fishing Expo. A familiar voice, mister Dan
- 0:35Durbin, Dan, how you doing this year? I'm doing great. We
- 0:39meet again. Yes, you know, it's great to die. I always
- 0:43know Spring is just about here when you and I talk, I always look
- 0:46forward to hearing about the event. And every year you guys bring a big,
- 0:51big event, and you always had some new stuff as well. Speak
- 0:54of new stuff? Did I see are you guys expanding your hours on Friday?
- 0:58Did I? Did I see that? Later? Am I remembering wrong?
- 1:02No, you're correct. We are actually opening at one on Friday instead
- 1:06of three. And we more or less had to do that because we just
- 1:11we had a lot of consumers that wanted to, you know, spend an
- 1:15entire day. Yeah, and that kind of helped them get more bargain for
- 1:19their tickets. And actually aftermath is that we're able to pack more seminars in
- 1:23on Friday as well, so it's a win win for everybody. Oh that
- 1:26is great, and we're going to talk about some of those seminars and some
- 1:29of the other great events going on at the Wisconsin Fishing Expo. As mentioned,
- 1:33Kick kicks off tomorrow one o'clock, runs Saturday and Sunday as well.
- 1:37All the details online the website Wi Phishingexpo dot com. That's Wi Phishingexpo dot
- 1:44com. Before we get to the speakers and the seminars, let's kind of
- 1:47just do a quick event overview. You guys literally have something for absolutely everybody,
- 1:52don't you, Dan, Oh yeah, yeah. We're looking at one
- 1:56hundred and ninety thousand square feet of everything that you can do with fishing,
- 2:00with whether you're you know, new to the sport, if your kids just
- 2:04getting introduced with it, to a seasoned veteran. I mean, it's it's
- 2:08fully interactive. We're looking at over three hundred and sixty booth this year,
- 2:14which is an all time record, so there's all kinds of stuff for it,
- 2:16and it doesn't matter what you fish for fits in fresh water, we
- 2:21got it. Oh, that is absolutely fantastic. Again, it is the
- 2:23Wisconsin the Fishing Expo, kicking off tomorrow at the Align Energy Center in the
- 2:29ex Bo hall. You mentioned the kiddos, and I think for a lot
- 2:31of a lot of folks that's kind of Those are important years obviously for a
- 2:37number of reasons, but also the opportunity for kids to learn about about fishing
- 2:42and being responsible and you know, really helping, you know, for themselves
- 2:46and having that skill, and of course the overall enjoyment. And you guys
- 2:51have a bunch of really really cool opportunities for kids to things for them to
- 2:57do, to really make it a great event, to really encourage them and
- 3:00really spark their interest in fishing, don't you. Oh gosh, yeah.
- 3:05I mean I think there's at least seven different kids exhibits, including seminars.
- 3:08We've got you know, fishing basics one O one and then a two to
- 3:12one version for more advanced at that way. At the first one, we
- 3:15give away seventy five rodden real combos, the second one seventy five tackle boxes,
- 3:21and then we got a third one with it with seventy five T shirts
- 3:24and a bunch of stuff like that. So a lot of interactive stuff on
- 3:29you know, taking a class and then they kind of have to graduate with
- 3:31their little forty five minute class to get the goodies. Fish Bengals another popular
- 3:38thing at basically six stops around the ex bow that you know, it goes
- 3:43to various vendors. They get their whole punched, and then at the end
- 3:46they get a little gift bag with some lures and stuff that's probably worth you
- 3:49know, six seven bucks just right there, yeah, I mean, and
- 3:53then just you know, of course we got the trout pond, we got
- 3:55the bumper boats and they don't get wet. Parents don't worry thought, it's
- 4:00completely completely safe. And then you know, just the goofy things like mental
- 4:06races, and we got balloon tying, face painting, and a lot of
- 4:11this stuff is no extra charge. Well fantastic and a great mentioned. Bring
- 4:15the kids, bring the grand kids, something great for the entire family.
- 4:18Again. It is the Wisconsin Fishing Expo running through the weekend, kicking off
- 4:21tomorrow at one o'clock. More details online Wi Fishingexpo dot com. That's Wi
- 4:28Fishingexpo dot com and dan can folks buy tickets online as well. They definitely
- 4:33can do it online. You will get that Ticketmaster fee for convenience, so
- 4:39it is cheapest if you do it at the door cash or credit. But
- 4:43if you do online, you do get in. You can kind of sneak
- 4:46in a little bit quicker with the prepaid TECHNT get through that way. I
- 4:47mentioned some of the some of the seminars. Is there anybody in particular.
- 4:51I know you obviously it's a busy, busy weekend for you, but I
- 4:55know you like to take in some of this. Anybody you're really looking forward
- 4:58to hearing from, or a presentation you're really looking forward to see. Yeah,
- 5:03I mean yeah, Like you said, we have twenty five different seminars.
- 5:05I'm really interested in one that Tom Hoyne is going to do. He's
- 5:11just an absolute stud on a walleye circuit right now, use the various types
- 5:14of ford facing sonar. And then another interesting one is Josh Weisner, who's
- 5:21a converted walleye tournament angler. He was a very good walleye tournament angler and
- 5:27then switched over to bass fishing, and in just two or three years of
- 5:30taking walleye tactics and applying them to bass, he's made the Bass Masters Classic
- 5:35which is it's the Super Bowl. I mean, it's a it can make
- 5:40or break your career at the two hundred thousand dollars event probably, and so
- 5:45I'm really interested in that. And then I'm kind of going to throw a
- 5:47few wing you know, flyers out there and stuff that I don't fish and
- 5:51check out a species I don't. I don't focus on that that Again,
- 5:56it should be exciting for everyone. You mentioned a little something as well for
- 5:58everybody, whether it's something you know, species of fish that you're particular about,
- 6:02or if you want to learn more that cool thing. And Dan correct
- 6:04me if I'm wrong. I mean, here in Wisconsin, we're blessed.
- 6:08We've got a ton of great lakes. We've got great rivers and streams.
- 6:12We've also got a couple of giant lakes that touch our state, a couple
- 6:15of the great lakes. I mean, there's a little bit of something for
- 6:18you know, different types of and I know that the event caters to all,
- 6:23but for people that are maybe you know, traditionally we you know,
- 6:26we fished a particular lake. Maybe we want to learn about about fishing and
- 6:30streams or trout fishing or going out on the Great lakes, maybe chartering a
- 6:33boat or something like that. There's opportunities for those folks as well, isn't
- 6:36there? Oh gosh, yeah, totally yeah. Bill Soltz is one of
- 6:42our bass guys who's doing a stream small mouth seminar and making an applicable to
- 6:47his spot up in Sturgeon Bay as well, which is cool because there's some
- 6:51dandy smallmouth fishing right around here that people don't don't know about. And we
- 6:57have different Great Lakes people speaking and whether it's walleye or bass or even muskie.
- 7:02But one thing I like to do is expose people to new waters.
- 7:05But you know, for instance, fishing Green Bay for walleyes or bass or
- 7:11muskie. But then we'd have our seminars also say hey, come, you
- 7:14can come up there, but how can you use those tactics on the Madison
- 7:17Chain as well, or kashkan On or Lake Wisconsin or the river. So
- 7:21kind of cool, like they get exposure to new stuff but also techniques that
- 7:26they can bring back home. And Dan you mentioned vendor what three hundred and
- 7:30sixty booths, there's a lot. There's a lot to do, a lot
- 7:33to take in and a great opportunity too, and I know as anglers oftentimes
- 7:40quite particular about about things and how great it is whether you're looking at different
- 7:44lures or different tackle and different types of equipment. Actually having the experts on
- 7:48hand to help guide some of those purchasing decisions is we want to make sure
- 7:53that that it's something that you know, we work hard for our money and
- 7:56that we're that we're really fully understanding what we're buying. Having that conversation with
- 8:01the vendor, with the distributor at one of those boots is a huge benefit.
- 8:05Oh heck yeah. I mean we have the national brands of course,
- 8:09and you've got to have them. They bring out to cutting edge stuff,
- 8:13technical stuff. But yeah, I think what makes us so different is we
- 8:16have a lot of a smaller boutique type of hand painted crank baits or hand
- 8:20pour plastics and stuff, and you're going to talk right to the owner and
- 8:24oftentimes they built this bait or this presentation to solve a problem that wasn't already
- 8:30fixed in the industry. So you're going to talk to the actual person who
- 8:35built it, who cast it, who uses it on a daily basis,
- 8:37and can really coach you up on how to do it. And then you
- 8:41know when I mentioned at three hundred and sixty booth, that doesn't even count
- 8:46the one hundred boats we have in both in bulk space. Wow. Yeah,
- 8:50I see like like twelve different dealers, thirty different brands of boats.
- 8:54I mean, it's going to be a great weekend at the Align Energy Center
- 8:58at the ex Bowl Hall. Well. More information available the website Wi Phishingexpo
- 9:03dot com. That's Wi Phishingexpo dot com. You can buy tickets online.
- 9:09Kids under twelve they are free. And some great sponsors as well. Dan,
- 9:13Who's who's all there to make this all happen. Oh, there's a
- 9:18bunch of them. Diowa's One, Wisconsin Outdoor News, Future Angler Fishing Association.
- 9:24There's a lot to roll through. But yeah, it's it's we're really
- 9:30blessed to have the show here in Madison. We have such great support from
- 9:33everybody and we're just we're just happy to be back guns blazing. It'll be
- 9:37it'll be a great weekend. Look forward to seeing you Dan again. That's
- 9:41at the exhibition All Line Energy Center starts tomorrow, runs through the weekend.
