Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: What a year it's been. We saw Venus Williams.
- 0:03Speaker 2: She came on the set, she talked a little tennis,
- 0:06Speaker 2: then she left, and then she played in ten events.
- 0:09Speaker 1: She beat Peyton Stearns. I was watching that in DC
- 0:12Speaker 1: losing my mind. I was like, I work next to
- 0:14Speaker 1: her and she's back. Then she goes to US Open Doubles.
- 0:18Speaker 2: She gets married, most beautiful bride you've ever seen, she
- 0:21Speaker 2: owns the medgala.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Heck of a year, and she's joining us.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Now, clap it up again, Venus william.
- 0:29Speaker 1: So pretty quiet, chill.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but thanks for having me, guys, thanks for
- 0:34Speaker 3: welcoming me back from last year.
- 0:36Speaker 4: I only got to visit a few minutes with you.
- 0:38Speaker 3: But now I'm here during like the quiet hour to fill.
- 0:40Speaker 4: It all in.
- 0:41Speaker 1: We appreciate it.
- 0:42Speaker 2: So yeah, how was it getting back out there? That
- 0:45Speaker 2: match was so cool to watch, But getting to play again?
- 0:48Speaker 1: How was that for you?
- 0:50Speaker 4: Just chaotic?
- 0:52Speaker 3: I think that when we were a tennis player, any
- 0:54Speaker 3: kind of athlete, right, you always got it. But learning
- 0:57Speaker 3: to play matches again is very tough, tough, and.
- 1:02Speaker 4: I felt like I had a lot to learn, still learning.
- 1:05Speaker 3: And also I'm a kind of player to I'm always
- 1:07Speaker 3: adding to my game, so it makes it hard because
- 1:10Speaker 3: I make a lot of changes and then to execute
- 1:12Speaker 3: the changes in the match is It's very challenging, but
- 1:16Speaker 3: I love a challenge.
- 1:17Speaker 4: I'm a little crazy, yeah crazy.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Good crazy, yeah bad crazy, But.
- 1:23Speaker 2: It was it was so much fun to watch that
- 1:25Speaker 2: that place in DC, the City Open was going wild,
- 1:27Speaker 2: and it just shows the amount of love the tennis
- 1:29Speaker 2: world has for you, amount of love that we have
- 1:31Speaker 2: for you.
- 1:32Speaker 4: So we're so happy, Thank you, thank you.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Did you guys get a new it was there was hale.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Oh, there was hale.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Okay, forty minutes ago, and I think the tennis God
- 1:41Speaker 2: has heard you were coming.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Thank you. I appreciate that.
- 1:45Speaker 5: As far as like right now, ye still playing, not
- 1:48Speaker 5: a It's not full time like you were. How's what's
- 1:51Speaker 5: the practice schedule look like for you?
- 1:53Speaker 1: Now?
- 1:53Speaker 5: You just kind of hey, you know what, I got
- 1:54Speaker 5: a term to come up. I'm going to practice a
- 1:56Speaker 5: little bit. Are you kind of maintaining during the weeks?
- 1:59Speaker 1: What's going on?
- 2:00Speaker 3: I got to practice even harder because I'm older, I
- 2:03Speaker 3: kind of have kept the same schedule as I keep before.
- 2:06Speaker 3: But I'm also like a perfectionist, so if I'm supposed
- 2:09Speaker 3: to be out there two hours and I'm out three.
- 2:11Speaker 3: If I'm like gonna play just four games, and next
- 2:14Speaker 3: thing I know, I've played two sets. So there's definitely
- 2:17Speaker 3: a will for perfection. But it's hard, like I have
- 2:20Speaker 3: to balance the rest of my life with tennis, which
- 2:22Speaker 3: is what I didn't have to do before I did,
- 2:24Speaker 3: but now so much else is happening too. So I
- 2:28Speaker 3: try to play when on the weeks, when I have
- 2:30Speaker 3: a moment, but that's challenging too. When you like play,
- 2:33Speaker 3: you know, a couple but then not for four or
- 2:35Speaker 3: five or six weeks. But I love the game and
- 2:39Speaker 3: maybe the best is ahead of me, right, I've got
- 2:42Speaker 3: more years ahead of me than behind me.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Do I follow not the major still, of course you do.
- 2:46Speaker 1: But Madrid Rome.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, there's so many new players right, everyone's playing well.
- 2:52Speaker 3: It's not easy out there, and I feel like a
- 2:55Speaker 3: lot of players to catch fire.
- 2:57Speaker 4: In Madrid. We saw Hodar was there.
- 2:59Speaker 3: It was so fun to see like his as Sin
- 3:01Speaker 3: he's been coming up in the last year and the
- 3:05Speaker 3: dad's like in the box and the whole time he's got.
- 3:07Speaker 4: This ice face. Yeah, I don't know how he does it.
- 3:09Speaker 4: He's like you, the only one there. Yeah, he's the
- 3:12Speaker 4: only one there. It's very very cool.
- 3:16Speaker 3: And yeah, watching, I've been watching, so it's it's just crazy.
- 3:21Speaker 4: It's just crazy how well everyone's playing.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Yeah, Carol, you guys go back forever, we do.
- 3:27Speaker 6: I mean I haven't seen a little bit last time.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Sorry.
- 3:30Speaker 6: I saw your first wedding at my first wedding. That
- 3:33Speaker 6: was amazing. I mean we had a great time. I
- 3:36Speaker 6: mean she looked beautiful, beautiful plays, beautiful husband, beautiful wife.
- 3:41Speaker 6: It was it was Yes, thanks for coming. I don't
- 3:44Speaker 6: really have any questions. I feel like it's a little awkward.
- 3:46Speaker 6: I don't I don't know what's asked.
- 3:49Speaker 7: I heard you say that you still have a lot
- 3:50Speaker 7: to learn at this stage as a player, and with
- 3:53Speaker 7: someone as as much experience as you have, of course,
- 3:56Speaker 7: and all the success you have, the Hall of Fame success,
- 3:59Speaker 7: we know, and I'm not going to.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Route it all off. Yeah is that really the case?
- 4:01Speaker 1: You feel like you still have a lot to learn?
- 4:03Speaker 4: Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 4:04Speaker 3: And I'm always inspired by players, and there's always someone
- 4:07Speaker 3: that's doing something that you need to move on, that
- 4:09Speaker 3: you can learn from. And I think once you stop
- 4:12Speaker 3: learning that it's best to move on. Yeah, get out
- 4:14Speaker 3: of the game. So me watching this week, saying everyone
- 4:18Speaker 3: play so well, watching Fonseca, like just gun from anywhere
- 4:23Speaker 3: on the court, like he could hit at the top
- 4:24Speaker 3: of the stadium and just gun it for a winner.
- 4:27Speaker 4: It's wild. I love that. So it's it's just really
- 4:30Speaker 4: inspiring for me. And I don't know.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Throughout your careers, did you guys feel like to you
- 4:34Speaker 3: were you were learning.
- 4:36Speaker 6: Yeah, I think you always learn, right, that's how we're
- 4:38Speaker 6: oute on practice for it every day and we played
- 4:40Speaker 6: for so many hours. I guess my question for you
- 4:42Speaker 6: is do you love playing singles and doubles equally as
- 4:45Speaker 6: much or do you prefer one.
- 4:46Speaker 7: To all the other?
- 4:47Speaker 3: Now, So here's the thing that nobody ever believes, But
- 4:51Speaker 3: I'm not a doubles player, even though.
- 4:53Speaker 1: I've had great success.
- 4:55Speaker 4: I had a great partner.
- 4:56Speaker 3: But I think it helps, like if you can like
- 4:59Speaker 3: serve like a and return like a you know, armored tank.
- 5:03Speaker 3: And I think our serves and returns were so good
- 5:05Speaker 3: that it's hard to beat that. But I feel like
- 5:07Speaker 3: I'm actually learning to play doubles this year, so I've
- 5:11Speaker 3: actually gotten kind of good at doubles and that's been fun.
- 5:14Speaker 4: That's been fun. I've learned a lot.
- 5:16Speaker 3: Like there are points where I'm like, okay, slow down,
- 5:18Speaker 3: just lob it so I can work on my positioning.
- 5:20Speaker 4: So yeah, it's it's interesting.
- 5:23Speaker 5: Was there a moment big news yesterday right with your
- 5:25Speaker 5: sister coming back to play Queens in a week? Was
- 5:29Speaker 5: there a moment six months ago, eight months ago where
- 5:32Speaker 5: she came to you and said, Hey, Venus, I think
- 5:34Speaker 5: I'm gonna come back on tour And what was your
- 5:36Speaker 5: reaction to that.
- 5:37Speaker 3: No, it didn't happen like that. I think it was
- 5:40Speaker 3: more me bullying her to come. No, not at all.
- 5:43Speaker 4: Not at all.
- 5:44Speaker 3: I think that it's I think she hits every now
- 5:48Speaker 3: and then. I never see her on the court that often,
- 5:51Speaker 3: so we have so I don't know when she's been practicing. Honestly,
- 5:55Speaker 3: I'm honest. I don't know like how her form is.
- 5:59Speaker 3: But what I will tell you is that like she
- 6:00Speaker 3: could hit for not for four months, and I'll be
- 6:03Speaker 3: hitting and she'll come out and grab a racket and
- 6:04Speaker 3: running shoes and just hits a ton out of the
- 6:07Speaker 3: ball without ever hitting, and it's incredible. So the quality
- 6:11Speaker 3: of her stroke is obviously there. She's I think a
- 6:15Speaker 3: little bit of a natural. She has a pretty good record.
- 6:20Speaker 4: She knows what she's doing.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I'd agree with that.
- 6:22Speaker 3: She's very tenacious, so I'm not worried about like how
- 6:27Speaker 3: she's going to play, even though I even though I
- 6:30Speaker 3: really haven't seen her play.
- 6:31Speaker 4: It's so crazy.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I love that, And my first reaction was, I want
- 6:36Speaker 2: to see you guys out there together.
- 6:37Speaker 1: You're working on doubles. That will be cool.
- 6:39Speaker 2: We go down memory lane, we see the footage. It
- 6:42Speaker 2: was such an iconic moment that I think is still sustainable.
- 6:45Speaker 2: We're going back in time.
- 6:48Speaker 4: How did you find this footage?
- 6:50Speaker 1: A crack staff to the files?
- 6:54Speaker 3: Oh, man, I think you're showing like the best part
- 6:57Speaker 3: the highlights. It was definitely a long man. Oh fast
- 7:00Speaker 3: forward like eleven years later, right, Oh, good times. Thanks
- 7:04Speaker 3: for showing only my best times here.
- 7:07Speaker 5: We had John mceroone a little while ago. It only
- 7:09Speaker 5: showed his missus and almost.
- 7:12Speaker 4: Yeah, we should try that next time. I'll come on
- 7:14Speaker 4: air just show like all of the misses. Oh, it's
- 7:17Speaker 4: kind of fun.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Yeah, can we look at some highlights from today?
- 7:21Speaker 1: We had some women.
- 7:21Speaker 4: I would love that.
- 7:22Speaker 1: We had Arita Sabalaika Naomio Osaka. Last night.
- 7:25Speaker 2: That was the first time we had a night match
- 7:27Speaker 2: with women in three years.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Here at Roland Garros.
- 7:30Speaker 2: This morning, some young ones came out and put on
- 7:33Speaker 2: a show.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Let's get to the highlights. Mira Andreeva the nineteen.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Year old against Sarona Cristea the thirty six year old.
- 7:40Speaker 2: A different battle of generations. But venus, tell me what
- 7:43Speaker 2: you see because Mira won this and I think fifty
- 7:45Speaker 2: six minutes.
- 7:46Speaker 3: Yeah, incredible. She's really been progressing and she has a
- 7:52Speaker 3: great variety in her game. But you're stay at two
- 7:54Speaker 3: and she said the best year of her career. Yeah,
- 7:57Speaker 3: and I don't she already swings freely. But maybe knowing
- 8:00Speaker 3: that she might not be here next year because I
- 8:03Speaker 3: think we all hope she'll stay, maybe that helps her
- 8:05Speaker 3: swing free year.
- 8:06Speaker 4: But definitely not her day to day mirrors everywhere. Look
- 8:09Speaker 4: at her. She plays doubles two, so she covers.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Her net, well she does. But Mira went out there.
- 8:14Speaker 2: It was a bagel in the first, six' three in the.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Second but what a year it has been For. Cristeia,
- 8:20Speaker 2: carol you believe that she could totally come, back that
- 8:23Speaker 2: it has been such a phenomenal year.
- 8:24Speaker 1: That maybe it brings her a. Back we'll wait and
- 8:26Speaker 1: see what she. Says she's been adam and she's.
- 8:28Speaker 6: Done but, YEAH i think she's, saying you, know even
- 8:31Speaker 6: though this is the best year of my, Career i'm
- 8:33Speaker 6: not planning on coming. BACK i do think it's. Hard
- 8:36Speaker 6: right when you get your highest, ranking you're playing so,
- 8:39Speaker 6: well it's hard to say goodbye to the.
- 8:41Speaker 4: Top of your.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Game she was asked the.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Presser so let's see what she said about the possibility
- 8:46Speaker 2: of coming back for one more.
- 8:47Speaker 8: Season, YES i am speaking to my. DECISION i think
- 8:53Speaker 8: change in my. Mind i'm just very grateful and how
- 8:58Speaker 8: the year is going and the Way i'm. PLAYING i
- 9:00Speaker 8: think that longevity of my, career it's one of the
- 9:03Speaker 8: Things i'm.
- 9:03Speaker 6: The most proud.
- 9:05Speaker 8: Of i've never. EXPECTED i will play above. Thirty to be,
- 9:10Speaker 8: Honest paris will always be. Special is the grand SLAM
- 9:13Speaker 8: i grew up. With is the one where you always
- 9:16Speaker 8: dream coming From, romania playing on, clay growing up on
- 9:19Speaker 8: this surface is the one you dream to, win you.
- 9:21Speaker 8: Know so it's been only. Special AND i Love, PARIS
- 9:24Speaker 8: i love the, PEOPLE i love everything.
- 9:26Speaker 4: Here so she's sticking to.
- 9:29Speaker 2: It andreeva, though and olliver you thirty four wins on
- 9:32Speaker 2: tour this, year the most of anyone on THE wta
- 9:35Speaker 2: another win on, clay where she also has the most.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Wins she also has maybe the most youthful, exuberance so
- 9:42Speaker 2: much so that she's Quoting Snoop dogg in her press.
- 9:45Speaker 1: COMFORT i don't know what it, is but we gotta
- 9:46Speaker 1: take a.
- 9:46Speaker 9: Lesson there's SOMETHING i really appreciate WHEN i see. You
- 9:51Speaker 9: it's every time you win a, trophy you say thank
- 9:54Speaker 9: you to the, crowd thanks to your, team and thanks to.
- 9:57Speaker 9: Myself thanks to you is important for you, too because
- 10:02Speaker 9: you work so much every day to be able to
- 10:05Speaker 9: play on the biggest schools in the. World how important
- 10:07Speaker 9: it is for you to be nice with.
- 10:09Speaker 10: Yourself, Well i'll be, honest, like at first THAT i
- 10:13Speaker 10: said the, SPEECH i just Saw Snoop dogg say it
- 10:17Speaker 10: ON i don't know.
- 10:18Speaker 4: Wherever when he was receiving an.
- 10:19Speaker 10: Award so for the first couple of TIMES i kind
- 10:22Speaker 10: of stole it just to you, know make a. Joke
- 10:24Speaker 10: but then AFTER i kind of realized that it's actually.
- 10:27Speaker 10: True we also have to thank ourselves for the work
- 10:30Speaker 10: that we do on the, court and for how much we,
- 10:32Speaker 10: sacrifice and for how much we, practice and for how
- 10:35Speaker 10: much we. Work SO i felt, like you, know, now
- 10:39Speaker 10: it's just WHAT i really want to tell myself almost every.
- 10:43Speaker 2: Time you know what it's like to see a, teenager,
- 10:47Speaker 2: teenager teenager. Teenager you know what it's like to go
- 10:50Speaker 2: out there having this is the weirdest part for. Me
- 10:52Speaker 2: grown men constantly asking you questions about how you're.
- 10:55Speaker 1: Doing and if you should be better when you see.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Young women going through this facing, That what do you
- 11:01Speaker 2: feel when you watch someone having success of dealing with
- 11:04Speaker 2: all of?
- 11:04Speaker 3: Them, YEAH i think you know a few of us
- 11:06Speaker 3: up here relate to. THAT i think at that age
- 11:09Speaker 3: it's just so. Fun it's just so. Fun you're doing
- 11:12Speaker 3: everything for some of the first, time and you're so.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Free everything's, new you don't know much, yet AND i
- 11:20Speaker 3: think that's a beautiful. Thing and you can use it
- 11:22Speaker 3: to your advantage because you can like kind of just
- 11:24Speaker 3: stay out of everything and just. Play so she has
- 11:27Speaker 3: a heck of a record this year on. CLAY i
- 11:30Speaker 3: don't know how did you ladies feel when you were
- 11:31Speaker 3: so of COURSE i watched you guys come. Up you
- 11:35Speaker 3: were my ball.
- 11:35Speaker 6: KID i THINK i played with you WHEN i was
- 11:38Speaker 6: twelve years. Old you can't to my Clupen plan exhibition
- 11:41Speaker 6: In denmark and we hit for like five. Minutes that
- 11:44Speaker 6: was the coolest day ever and that made me practice even.
- 11:47Speaker 6: HARDER i have a question for you, Though, yes so
- 11:50Speaker 6: now at this time you were obviously the youngest one
- 11:52Speaker 6: at one, point and now you want to do all
- 11:54Speaker 6: this one still playing on. Tour what are your? Goals
- 11:57Speaker 6: is it to improve when you got on? Courtny is
- 11:59Speaker 6: it to have? Fun to win the? Tournaments what is
- 12:02Speaker 6: your mindset every time you go?
- 12:03Speaker 3: Out, well you know how much work goes into, this
- 12:06Speaker 3: this tennis.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Thing it's a lot of.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Work you, Know it's, like come, on and the other
- 12:12Speaker 3: DAY i was, saying why don't things just stay where
- 12:14Speaker 3: you put? It you, know you have to go back
- 12:16Speaker 3: to practice the next day to make sure it stays.
- 12:18Speaker 3: There so obviously the goal each and every time is
- 12:20Speaker 3: the best get the best out of. Myself and it's
- 12:24Speaker 3: also being able to look in the mirror and sleep
- 12:25Speaker 3: at night knowing he gave the best effort and the
- 12:28Speaker 3: best in the world are.
- 12:29Speaker 4: Here to be able to compete with those of.
- 12:32Speaker 6: Such an honor do you like practice just as much
- 12:35Speaker 6: as you like playing the matches or is practice just
- 12:38Speaker 6: a necessity for you to then.
- 12:39Speaker 4: Performing a good.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Question sometimes practice doesn't go, well AND i, think especially
- 12:45Speaker 3: WHEN i, was you, know like Mirror indriva's, AGE i
- 12:47Speaker 3: would let practice ruin my whole, Day like if every
- 12:50Speaker 3: shot didn't go, right and they never, do then the
- 12:52Speaker 3: whole DAY i was an awful mood until like three
- 12:55Speaker 3: or four o'clock before would. Lift and this went on
- 12:57Speaker 3: for years and, years and finally at some point in
- 12:59Speaker 3: my twenties it's, LIKE i can't live like this. Anymore
- 13:01Speaker 3: i've got to separate the practice from the rest of my.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Life so being able to compartmentalize is so important for
- 13:08Speaker 3: these players, too especially if you don't play the perfect,
- 13:10Speaker 3: match you got to compartmentalize that match and go on
- 13:13Speaker 3: to the next one because you played well enough to, win,
- 13:15Speaker 3: Right so the next day is a great opportunity to do.
- 13:18Speaker 2: That two women that were playing perfect as of, late
- 13:21Speaker 2: big time winning streaks was our second match, Today spiddalina
- 13:25Speaker 2: And Costjaks fidelita coming in on a ten match winning,
- 13:28Speaker 2: Streak costyuk on a sixteen match winding. Streak she is
- 13:32Speaker 2: reaching peak performance right.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Now this is the winner Of rome versus the winner Of.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Madrid oh, incredible and she has a lot of. FIREPOWER
- 13:42Speaker 3: i heard her once, say Oh i'm. SMALLER i don't
- 13:45Speaker 3: know where the small park comes in because she plays,
- 13:47Speaker 3: big super fun to. Watch and also she's improved so
- 13:51Speaker 3: much throughout the years and especially this. YEAR i think
- 13:53Speaker 3: you can see her game improved month to month and
- 13:55Speaker 3: it's so. IMPRESSIVE i think the rest of the draw
- 13:58Speaker 3: has to be ready because maybe no one was expecting
- 14:01Speaker 3: her on, paper but her record has, shown you, know
- 14:03Speaker 3: the ten matches in a, row she's.
- 14:05Speaker 4: Ready.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Yeah and Then findelina came back as she did Against Belinda,
- 14:08Speaker 2: benchic really pushing.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Her in this.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Set when we got to that Decider, caroline it was
- 14:14Speaker 2: who was going to be able to push that ticket
- 14:16Speaker 2: to the semifinal and it ended up being.
- 14:18Speaker 6: Marked, yeah it looked Like switzelena really was going away
- 14:21Speaker 6: with the. Momentum she started playing well and staying close
- 14:23Speaker 6: to the. Baseline she was attacking those second servant moving,
- 14:27Speaker 6: forward and they really have a very similar game. STYLE
- 14:30Speaker 6: i do think that at Times costik maybe is a
- 14:34Speaker 6: little more aggressive at times when it really. Matters sktelena
- 14:38Speaker 6: tends to go a little bit too far behind the.
- 14:40Speaker 6: Baseline that's this is where she gets in. Trouble on
- 14:42Speaker 6: this point right here is where everything changed from here on.
- 14:46Speaker 6: OUT i Think costik won the next seventeen out of eighteen,
- 14:51Speaker 6: points and nine of those were, winners and she it
- 14:54Speaker 6: was well deserved to go out and get to her
- 14:57Speaker 6: first semifinals, here.
- 15:00Speaker 5: DON'T i feel like her movement, too is some of
- 15:04Speaker 5: the best on. Tour if you're just watching those highlights,
- 15:05Speaker 5: there some of the gets in the. Corners it's not
- 15:07Speaker 5: someone that she's getting to. Them she's getting there and
- 15:10Speaker 5: able to plant on whatever the outside leg is and
- 15:12Speaker 5: get back in the.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Point she's a phenomenal.
- 15:14Speaker 6: Athlete she's always been an unbelievable. MOVER i think her
- 15:17Speaker 6: problem has always been in her. HEAD i feel like
- 15:19Speaker 6: at times she's been giving away, points so she's felt
- 15:22Speaker 6: like someone was pushing her and then she would just,
- 15:24Speaker 6: fold and she hasn't been doing that.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Lately six three two six six.' two gostia gets. To.
- 15:30Speaker 1: WIN beness i would love your thoughts on. The drawl
- 15:33Speaker 1: what do you? SEE here i.
- 15:34Speaker 3: See entertainment everyone's been, playing well nothing has happened, as
- 15:38Speaker 3: expected and that's the way the draw works when it's
- 15:41Speaker 3: when it's At The. French open, this surface especially the,
- 15:45Speaker 3: first week it was, so hot, of course played. So
- 15:48Speaker 3: strange the ball was bouncing, so high the surface.
- 15:51Speaker 4: A, lot slippery more slippery because it's. So hot and
- 15:54Speaker 4: also people were like dying on. The court you know
- 15:57Speaker 4: that it was.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Crazy hot no one was prepared FOR so i think
- 16:01Speaker 3: that affected the tournament. A lot, the conditions not only,
- 16:04Speaker 3: the heat but how the heat made the. Court play
- 16:06Speaker 3: and if you played in, the morning the ball didn't
- 16:08Speaker 3: go through. The court is fast you played in, the
- 16:10Speaker 3: afternoon is flying? Really flying you almost had to, you
- 16:13Speaker 3: know cover the ball more to keep. It in so
- 16:16Speaker 3: depending on what time you, played too the match. Was
- 16:18Speaker 3: different it's just really interesting. To watch as we know
- 16:21Speaker 3: a lot of times.
- 16:21Speaker 4: It can be cold. And rainier you feel like you're playing.
- 16:24Speaker 3: On MUD so i don't know Those are these have
- 16:27Speaker 3: been conditions where you had to survive and the people
- 16:30Speaker 3: who survived are now feeling.
- 16:31Speaker 5: Really confident speaking, of surviving were You impressed you just
- 16:34Speaker 5: talked about. The conditions there was some, long matches more
- 16:37Speaker 5: so on the. Men's side we saw some matches go over,
- 16:39Speaker 5: five hours no one, tapped out no one cramped. And
- 16:42Speaker 5: retired these the fitness level from the men and the
- 16:45Speaker 5: women right NOW is i feel like that is higher
- 16:49Speaker 5: than maybe it's.
- 16:49Speaker 6: EVER been, i, mean centner he didn't.
- 16:52Speaker 4: Tap out that's, one example was.
- 16:53Speaker 1: A really good one outside of.
- 16:55Speaker 5: That one but everyone else when you for the most.
- 17:00Speaker 9: That.
- 17:00Speaker 5: Was funny but everyone else on, a baseline, you know
- 17:04Speaker 5: was playing over, five hours and they were able, to survive.
- 17:06Speaker 4: And they came back the next day, like bounce there.
- 17:08Speaker 4: Was nothing you played another.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Five, setter yep it has. Been impressive i've just been
- 17:12Speaker 3: wondering how. THEY recover i guess a lot of ice bass.
- 17:15Speaker 4: EVERY hour i.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Don't know but and also there's like a cold room
- 17:19Speaker 3: over across. The street have you guys done that where
- 17:22Speaker 3: you walk into, One, way yeah the cryo.
- 17:25Speaker 4: Cold room so maybe.
- 17:26Speaker 1: That helps.
- 17:28Speaker 2: I'm Curious arena sabolenka has been a model of consistency
- 17:31Speaker 2: for now eighty.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Five weeks eighty five weeks.
- 17:34Speaker 2: At, number one Took On naomio osaka, last night really
- 17:36Speaker 2: had control of. That match she seems to pounce at the.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Right opportunities the pressure of being. Number one it almost
- 17:43Speaker 2: like it. Powers her her team is. Really strong everything
- 17:46Speaker 2: steems to. Be friendly i'm curious how impressed you've been of.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Her play i've.
- 17:50Speaker 3: Been impressed how, you know it's not easy to stay
- 17:53Speaker 3: on top of this Day and asian, women's tennis everyone's.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Playing WELL but i think the key is that she's.
- 17:59Speaker 3: HAVING fun i think she's enjoying. THE tennis i think
- 18:02Speaker 3: she's enjoying. THE challenge i think she likes being. Number
- 18:05Speaker 3: one she likes being, up there and her game has
- 18:09Speaker 3: risen to, that occasion so she feels like she can
- 18:11Speaker 3: make any shot at.
- 18:12Speaker 4: Any time, so yeah.
- 18:13Speaker 3: That's fun when the ball, goes in she knows how
- 18:16Speaker 3: to put the ball in and put it in, Really.
- 18:18Speaker 4: Hard so it's fun. To see look.
- 18:20Speaker 3: At that see she's she has a good time on
- 18:24Speaker 3: and off, the COURT and i think that's a big
- 18:26Speaker 3: part of.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Her Success, producer jeremy if you wouldn't mind throwing that

- 20:29Speaker 1: THE year i.
- 20:30Speaker 3: DON'T know i don't think most players have as much
- 20:32Speaker 3: control over the kit. They wear so she's got the
- 20:35Speaker 3: honor Of Being, naomi osaka so she gets to wear what.
