- 0:33The introit.
- 0:36Full ears of wheat are the nourishment he gives them and honey dripping from the rock to their heart's content. Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia. Rejoice to God, our helper.
- 0:53Sing aloud to the God of Jacob. Glory be to the father and to the son and to the holy ghost as it was in the beginning is now and will be through all ages of ages. Amen. Full ears of wheat are the nourishment he gives them and honey dripping from the rock to their heart's content. Alleluia.
- 1:21Alleluia. Alleluia. The Collect. Let us pray. O God, who under a wonderful sacrament has left us a memorial of thy passion.
- 1:39Grant us, we beseech thee, so to venerate the sacred mysteries of thy body and blood that we may ever feel within us the fruit of thy redemption who live in reignest with God the father in the unity of the holy ghost. Through all ages of ages. Amen. A commemoration of Saint Barnabas. O God, who does gladden us by the merits and intercession of blessed Barnabas, thine apostle, grant in thy mercy that we who implore thy blessings through him may obtain them by the gift of thy grace through our Lord Jesus Christ, Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, through all ages of ages.
- 2:40Amen. A lesson from the first letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians. Brethren, the tradition which I received from the Lord and handed on to you is that the Lord Jesus, on the night when he was betrayed, took bread and gave thanks and broke it and said take, eat. This is my body given up for you. Do this for a commemoration of me.
- 3:20And so with the cup when supper was ended, this cup, he said, is the new testament in my blood. Do this whenever you drink it for a commemoration of me. So it is the Lord's death that you are heralding whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup until he comes. And therefore, if anyone eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily, he will be held to account for the Lord's body and blood. A man must examine himself first and then eat of that bread and drink of that cup.
- 4:11He is eating and drinking damnation to himself. If he eats and drinks unworthily, not recognizing the Lord's body for what it is. The gradual. O Lord, all creatures raise their eyes to thee and thou grantest them in due time their nourishment. Thou art ready to open thy hand and fill with thy blessing all that lives.
- 4:44Alleluia. Alleluia. My flesh is real food. My blood is real drink. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives continually in me and I in him.
- 5:02Alleluia. The sequence. Sing forth, o Zion. Sweetly sing the praises of thy shepherd king in hymns and canticles divine. Dare all thou canst, thou hast no song worthy his praises to prolong, so far surpassing powers like thine.
- 5:29Today, no theme of common praise forms the sweet burden of thy lays, the living life dispensing food, that food which at the sacred board unto the brethren 12 our Lord, his parting legacy bestowed. Then be the anthem clear and strong, thy fullest note, thy sweetest song, the very music of the breast. For now shines forth the day sublime that brings remembrance of the time when Jesus first his table blessed. Within our new king's banquet hall, they meet to keep the festival that closed the ancient Paschal rite. The old is by the new replaced.
- 6:26The substance hath the shadow chased, and rising day dispels the night. Christ willed what he himself had done should be renewed while time should run-in memory of his parting hour. Thus tutored in his school divine, we consecrate the bread and wine and low, a host of saving power. This faith to Christian men is given. Bread is made flesh by words from heaven.
- 7:06Into his blood, the wine is turned. What though it baffles nature's powers of sense and sight, this faith of ours proves more than nature error discerned. Concealed beneath the twofold sign meet symbols of the gifts divine. There lie the mysteries adored. The living body is our food.
- 7:33Our drink, the ever precious blood. In each, one undivided Lord. Not he that eateth it divides the sacred food which whole abides unbroken still nor knows decay. Be one or be a thousand fed, they eat alike that living bread which still received never wastes away. The good, the guilty share therein with sure increase of grace or sin.
- 8:14The ghostly life or ghostly death. Death to the guilty to the good, immortal life. See how one food man's joy or woe accomplisheth. We break the sacrament, but bold and firm thy faith shall keep its hold. Deem not the whole doth more unfold than in the fractured part resides.
- 8:46Deem not that Christ doth broken lie, tis but the sign that meets the eye. The hidden deep reality, in all its fullness, still abides. Behold the bread of angels sent for pilgrims in their banishment. The bread for God's true children meant that may not unto dogs be given. Often the olden types foreshadowed, in Isaac on the altar bowed, and in the ancient paschal food, and in the manna sent from heaven.
- 9:31Come then, good Shepherd, bread divine, still shew to us thy mercy sign. O feed us still, still keep us thine, so may we see thy glories shine in fields of immortality. O thou, the wisest, mightiest, best, our present food, our future rest. Come, make us each thy chosen guest, co heirs of thine, and comrades blessed with saints whose dwelling is with thee. Amen.
- 10:20Alleluia. A continuation of the holy gospel according to John. At that time, Jesus said to the multitudes of the Jews, My flesh is real food. My blood is real drink. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood lives continually in me and I in him.
- 10:56As I live because of the father, the living father who has sent me, so he who eats me will live in his turn because of me. Such is the bread which has come down from heaven. It is not as it was with your fathers who ate manna and died nonetheless. The man who eats this bread will live eternally. The offertory.
- 11:37It is for the priests of the Lord to offer their God incense and consecrated loaves. They are men set apart for God and must never bring reproach upon his name. Hallelujah. The secret. Hollow, o Lord, the gifts which we offer and cleanse us through them from the stains of our sins by the intercession of blessed Barnabas, thine apostle, through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, through all ages of ages.
- 12:24Amen. A commemoration of Saint Barnabas. Hallow, O Lord, the gifts which we offer and cleanse us through them from the stains of our sins by the intercession of blessed Barnabas, thine apostle, through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, through all ages of ages. Amen. The preface of the most blessed sacrament.
- 13:06Worthy and right it is in truth, apt it is in saving that at all times and places we should thank thee, o lord, father holy, god almighty and eternal through Christ our lord. He, mere shadows and hosts of flesh dispelling for a sacrifice bequeathed us his own body and blood that a clean offering, the only one to please thee, might be offered to thy name in every place. So in this mystery of unfathomable wisdom as well as unmeasured charity that which he accomplished once on the cross in wondrous fashion, he unfailingly enacts being himself the one that offers and himself the one that is offered. Ourselves too made one victim with him. He summons to that sacred banquet where even he is taken as our food.
- 14:15The remembrance of his passion is refreshed. The mind filled with grace and a pledge given us of glory to come. And so with angels and archangels, thrones and dominions, with all the soldiery of the heavenly host, we sing a hymn to thy glory without end declaiming. Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts, the heavens and the earth are full of thy glory. Hosanna in the highest.
- 14:55Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. The communion. It is the Lord's death that you are heralding whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup until he comes. And therefore, if anyone eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily, he will be held to account for the Lord's body and blood.
- 15:33Alleluia. The post communion. Let us pray. Fill us, we beseech thee, O Lord, with that eternal enjoyment of thy divinity, which is prefigured by the reception in this life of thy precious body and blood, who liveth and reignest with God the father in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, through all ages of ages. Amen.
- 16:09A commemoration of Saint Barnabas. We humbly beseech thee, almighty God, through the intercession of blessed Barnabas, thine apostle, that we, whom thou dost refresh with thy sacraments, may be able to serve thee worthily by lives well pleasing to thee. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, through all ages of ages. Amen. In the name of the father, and of the son, and of the holy ghost.
- 16:52Amen. Saint Barnabas, pray for us.
