Also got music from Galeen Levita, Mike Grotka. And we're gonna check in with my friends up north in the bad music club for a band they think we should know. This week we're gonna hear from a band called in your walls. And that is all coming up on this week's weekend spot. So without further ado, let's get started.

Speaker A: You're at the dazzle dance creepy. Welcome to unsigned fibonates. So, before we get started, I just want to mention, you know, Metroland, obviously being back and TJ Foster has put together, or is going to continuously put together a list of what he's calling hot singles. And it's a list on Metroland themetroland.com. and we're also doing a Spotify playlist every month, an official Spotify playlist. And what it'll be is if a single was released, you know, in September, it'll be in October's playlist. So he's now collecting information because, you know, obviously he doesn't know everything that was released. So if you have a single that was released in October, get it to TJ now. You can go, you know, to his Instagram page. It's just TJ Foster music. And, like, send him a DM. Or, you know, if you want, you could even just send it to me and I can make sure that he gets it. Or, you know, send it DM to the Metroland Instagram page. Either way, we'll get it. But if you released a single in October, let us know now so that we can start or we so TJ can start compiling everything and get the hot singles for October together. And the hot singles for September is out and available right now. What I'm gonna do is dig into that list and pull out a song from TJ's curated hot singles list, and we're gonna play. Jess Hudak, who's a friend of mine, has a new single out. Brass knuckles just, you know, obviously came out in September because this is off the September release playlist. So go check that out. And right now, let's listen to Jess Hudak. This is brass knuckles, and it's here on unsigned 500 eighteen's weekend spotlight.

Speaker B: Oh, shit, is it that time already? This is how me and my bitches get ready to go out. Play junk beauty shop, put a makeup on and take shots. Just getting balls to the wall pretty before we head to the subway stop mix up some jungle juice put it in an all Starbucks cup it don't matter, there ain't one around for miles all we're worried about is getting wild that's why I got my ready for a fight now don't hurt I'm going hard going hard I'm going hard right as my close tonight ready for a fight now we go only places that we know somebody who's working and knows what we're drinking. So we don't have to say a word. It's on the counter and cause it's all loving. No dollars. Then it's time for a taco. So we go to Zen loco, get that margarita to go then it's up to the rooftop photo shoot boombox going up till the sun comes up tonight ready for a fight now I'm going hurt I'm going hard, gonna hurt I'm going tonight ready for a fight now don't hurt I'm going out don't hurt I'm going up to sing I'm up. That's so cute. But I'm like, won't catch me living on a parano won't even do it on a dare note. But if he's got some soul in it, maybe then I can roll with it. That's so cute. For the weekend, no journey, don't stop believing and we will sing with Lee better than they do so on tv. That's why I got my breast knuckles tonight ready for now don't hurt a.

Speaker A: That was Jess Hudak with brass knuckles. And you can find that not only everywhere that you find music, but on themetroland.com under hot singles, which is TJ Foster's curated list of singles that are released every month and then will be released the following month in a nice curated list so you can find out all the current 508 music. Right now, I'm gonna check in with my friends up north, Jake and Mike in the bad music club, and find out the band that they think that we should know in your walls has less than 100 monthly listeners and they're another great band out of London, Ontario. They sure are, Jake. Let me tell you, they're super sweet sounds that are sonically dope sauce. They're a cool little grungy outfit. And, man, can they wail. And there's some great harmonies in there, too. Oh, my God, these guys are great. This new five track, ephemeral and what is its name? Jake S. And it came out June 20, 2024.

Speaker B: Spend an hour or two rolling dice up the wall gotta know how it goes finding so many ways to procrastinate over nothing at all fireflies with a circle in my mind trying to put an in line at all tell me I couldn't stay away for long enough to follow along without fated thoughts nothing stirring me off make it harder for everyone that got involved watch me stay away for longer than you ever thought cause what you don't expect is I don't fall asleep sleep not a chance to wake up so I'll see you something flies around my head and again whisper into my eye once the sun goes down it finds its way back blind in the light looks me dead in the eye and says good luck cause I'm not going out tonight tell me I couldn't stay away from long enough to follow along without taking thoughts off concerning me I'll make it harder for everyone that got involved watch me stay for longer than you and the darkness what you don't expect is I don't fall asleep not a chance to wake up so I'll say I'll wake up cause I'll tell me tell me I couldn't stay away from longer than you ever thought cause when you don't expect cause I don't fall asleep not a chance to wake up so I'll see you wake up cause I tell you.

Speaker A: That was in your walls with sundown, a recommendation from Bad Music club from their weekly band you should know, which you should definitely go check out everywhere that you listen to podcasts and follow them on social media. Because they do daily. I don't know if they do it on the weekends, but certainly Monday through Friday, on their reels, they do just. Just what you kind of heard right there without playing the whole song. Just a quick hey, this is a band you should know hey, this is a band you should know hey, this is a band you should know so, like, you can really get a lot of great music from. From listening to that. I've seriously found, like, five or six bands just in the last couple weeks that I found myself listening to a lot. And they're, you know, bands that, that Mike and Jake of the Bad music club recommended to me. So go check them out. And also every week on their show, I'm going to be sending a band of in what they're calling Andy's Rex, which will be, you know, kind of the same thing. It's a band that I think they should know. So I've already had I believe eerie and the sugar hold were the first two. And then I've got a couple coming up that I'm, that I'm sending up. And I'm going to keep sending them every week. So we're doing like kind of a band swap. So it'll, you know, they'll get to know our bands, we'll get to know their bands, and we'll just create a bigger network of cool bands doing cool shit. So I'm gonna talk about an event right now, and this is actually gonna be the only event that I'm gonna talk about on this episode because there is so much going on. It takes place over the course of three days. I'm gonna play a couple of songs from a couple of artists that are, that are on it. And of course, I'm talking about b side fest three, the final chapter. It's three days of live music. It is the 17th, 18th, and 19th. So it starts on Thursday, today, tomorrow, Friday, and then the 19th on Saturday. So tonight at the hangar hanger on the Hudson, you have Levita, Sunblock, and Sun Organ. And then tomorrow Friday at no fun is retail, drugs, service industry, senior living, and everybody that loves you. And then Saturday night at no fun is Tagabo, deep slut, Malgoth, CPS Galeenhouse, the Great Depression, dump cake and Jeff Gordon. So it's. I mean, I would count how many bands there are, but I'm just like, nah, I'm not gonna. There's a lot of bands. So it's a lot of bands over three days, two locations in Troy, and it's b side cassettes presents b side fest three, the final chapter. And if you'd like more information, go check out b side cassettes on Instagram and you should be following them anyway. And right now to help get you ready for b side fest three is a band that will be playing Saturday at no fun. It's Galeena. This is white sands, and it's here on unsigned 500 and eighteen's weekend spotlight.
• 15:02
Speaker B: Did you read the news today? There's gonna be a great big flight with aftermath of cold decay. It's gonna be a great. Pack your bags, we go your way to a place where we can stay away from all the countless carry pictures of human face between you and you and me think of what we could achieve like your butt to a place where we can stay away from all the complacent Cherokee chance of human face you and me and me and you think of what we could do if we do with me.
• 18:27
Speaker A: That was galeen with white sands. Right now we are gonna listen to a song from Levita. They're gonna be playing tonight at the hangar on the Hudson as part of b side fest. So go check out la vida tonight, hang around the Hudson and check out the rest of b side fest that'll be happening tomorrow and Saturday as well. And again, b side cassettes. Look them up on Instagram. And the flyers right there, it has all the information that you need. It's super, super easy. So right now it's be yours, Levita right here on unsigned 500 eighteen's weekend spotlight.
• 19:39
Speaker B: What will you say that feels like I've been here so nothing has matters now that's all I know I wanted so much you would always I can to you and you watch me too it's all I can do. And let me be yours in the morning, in the evening let me breathe your voice in the spring time when it fell right and let me be you back in 14 you will only wish I knew I want you to I can tell you let me be your in the morning, in the evening let me be yours in the springtime when it fell right and let me breathe yours back in 14 you only move.
• 23:20
Speaker A: Alright, that was Levita. Be yours here on unsigned 500 eight's weekend spotlight. And that is pretty much it for this show. If you're looking for things to do, you can always check themetroland.com, the concert calendar just right there. If you go to themetroland.com, you'll see it says what's happening. And you click on that and it'll pull up the calendar and the calendar is laid out. You know, like a. A calendar would be laid out just day by day with all the events happening. You can click on it and you know, if you're a venue, reach out to us. If you want your events listed, we can always use more of that. You know, we do try to reach out, but we can't reach everybody. So if you've got events that you want listed, reach out to us. Reach out to me. Whatever. We'll make it happen. We'll, we'll certainly make it happen. But if you're a venue or a bandaid and you want your events listed, reach out and we will put it on the Metroland concert calendar. And again, look out for the Metroland first print edition coming soon. It's hectic is a fun word to throw around, but it's, it's a little, little hectic getting shit ready. But it's, it's coming together and we're gonna pull it off. Like, I just, I feel it, you know what I mean? The team is solid and there's a lot to do and very little time to do it, but we're going to pull it off. So not sure the exact details, but there will be a print edition of Metroland coming very, very soon. And in the meantime, you know, I was talking about on themetroland.com, you know how TJ has his hot singles playlist, or, you know, not the playlist, but an article, but it has a link to all their songs. And I create the playlist. We also have the official Metroland playlist, which is just, you know, two songs from as many artists as we can think of. And we're constantly, you know, adding songs to it and also, like, updating songs. Like, if there's two songs from an artist and then they have, you know, a new single, then, you know, I'll pull one of the old ones on and put the current one on. So it's always being updated. But go to Spotify and follow Metroland now official playlist and be in the know of like, the most current, coolest 518 music. And again, if there's something that you think should be added, reach out to me here on social media, you know, dm me or whatever, and I'll try to get back as soon as I can. But sometimes it does take me a little bit. And I apologize for that. I got a, I got a lot going on. But, but if there's a song that you want on the playlist, a band that, that we may have missed, let us know. And keep checking with themetroland.com. it's gonna grow. Look out for the Metroland coming in print. That's coming, too. And right now what I'm gonna do is take a song from the Metroland playlist. I went through and, and looked and wanted to pick one of the songs from there to add into the episode. And I picked, I believe, from Mike Grotka. And, you know, Mike was on an earl. I knew Mike was on an early episode and I was like, you know, let me go back and see what it was, and I couldn't remember how early, but I was like, you know what? He might have even been in the first ten episodes and I'm looking at it now and he, he just missed it. Mike was actually on, on unsigned 518, episode eleven, but it was still very early in it. You know, we're now on, you know, two, I've passed 200 total episodes, but unsigned 518 proper, I think 145, 146, something like that. You know, if I don't include weekend spotlight and unsigned unwind. But yeah, Mike was on number eleven, so it's appropriate. Like, it's, it's cool. He goes way back. He's a friend of the show. He's a super cool guy. And I really, really dig this song. So let's listen to I believe Mike Grotka is here on unsigned 500, eighteen's weekend spotlight.
• 27:30
Speaker B: I believe you and me are stronger than you I believe we will see. Take me by the hand carry me with you till the end always be with you and I.
• 30:39
Speaker A: That is, I believe Mike Grotka here on unsigned 500 and eighteen's weekend spotlight. And that is it for this week. Thank you so much for listening. And of course, if you can, you know, tell a friend or share with a friend or, you know, copy a link and send it to a friend, it helps so much. It really helps the show grow. And things are just going to get bigger. Once the podcast gets in integrated into Metroland website and the, the print edition, it's just going to hit more people. More people are going to be aware of it and it's, it's just going to help it grow. And, you know, you that are listening now are the reason that is happening. So I personally want to thank you. The ears that are listening right now, thank you so much for listening. And if you can continue to do that, that would be so fun. Anyway, I am Andy Scullen.
