2:16
Speaker 3: this morning, of course, the President spoke last night, his
2:19
Speaker 3: first address since announcing last Sunday that he would be
2:21
Speaker 3: leaving the presidential race. We'll get into that a little
2:23
Speaker 3: bit later on something that I know Hoppy's going to
2:26
Speaker 3: get into a little bit later on some kind of
2:29
Speaker 3: big news out of the world of elections and voter
2:32
Speaker 3: registrations and things of that nature. Two counties in West
2:35
Speaker 3: Virginia that have been for probably ever maybe longer, that
2:41
Speaker 3: have been Democrat counties are now Republican counties. And I'm
2:46
Speaker 3: setting in one of those. Kanawh County has a officially
2:49
Speaker 3: flipped Republican and so Hoby's going to get into that
2:53
Speaker 3: next hour. I'm going to talk a little bit about that. Also,
2:55
Speaker 3: Fayette County is in that as well, So two of
2:57
Speaker 3: the of the counties that were for ever. You know,
3:00
Speaker 3: it seems we're Democratic strongholds. Maybe not so much anymore.
3:04
Speaker 3: The numbers are in and i'll talk about Hoppy. We'll
3:07
Speaker 3: talk about it into tail of course, coming up next hour.
3:09
Speaker 3: Also speaking of elections, West Virginia Secretary of State Make
3:12
Speaker 3: Warner is going to be stopping by. There is a
3:15
Speaker 3: big need for poll workers for the upcoming election. We'll
3:18
Speaker 3: talk to Secretary Warner about that. And it is one
3:21
Speaker 3: of West Virginia's longest outdoor dramas. It's called the Eric
3:24
Speaker 3: Coma Story and it's going to be starting soon at
3:26
Speaker 3: Chief Logan State Park, my home area, only a little
3:29
Speaker 3: over an hour's driver so from downtown Charleston. We're going
3:32
Speaker 3: to talk to two members of the cast about that.
3:34
Speaker 3: Plus is always your calls and text are welcome again.
3:36
Speaker 3: Big Ley Pickley Wiggley hotline three zero four three four

3:44
Speaker 3: good friend, doctor Casey Sachs from Bridge Valley joins us,
3:47
Speaker 3: Doctor Sax. Good morning, welcome to the show.
3:49
Speaker 5: Good morning, Dave, great to be with you.
3:50
Speaker 3: Thank you for being here, and welcome back. You were
3:53
Speaker 3: off for a little bit celebrating a milestone, a milestone
3:57
Speaker 3: in your life, little thing called a marriage, So congratulations, Thanks.
3:59
Speaker 5: You so much.
4:00
Speaker 3: All right, so welcome to married life.
4:03
Speaker 5: Well I appreciate it.
4:05
Speaker 3: Now you're part of the club, all right. So let
4:08
Speaker 3: me start by asking when do we start classes at
4:10
Speaker 3: Bridge Valley or do they ever really end?
4:12
Speaker 5: They really never end. We have summer school running right now,
4:15
Speaker 5: lots of students on campus, but the fall semester starts
4:18
Speaker 5: August nineteenth.
4:19
Speaker 3: And you got a new student orientation I guess coming
4:22
Speaker 3: up with that we do.
4:23
Speaker 5: We've been running several Last Saturday, we had one hundred
4:27
Speaker 5: and fifty students come in. So it's folks who are
4:29
Speaker 5: already registered or who need some help from advising to
4:32
Speaker 5: get registered. And they come in and spend some time
4:36
Speaker 5: figuring out where are my classes, where is everything? Who
4:39
Speaker 5: do I need to talk to? If they still need
4:40
Speaker 5: financial aid help, they get their financial aid help. It's
4:43
Speaker 5: sort of a prepackaged experience, and we're starting to run
4:46
Speaker 5: them now for high school students because of the Win Academy.
4:49
Speaker 5: So it's that part is new for us, We've always
4:51
Speaker 5: done new student orientation for our traditional college students, but
4:55
Speaker 5: now we have enough high school students who are joining
4:57
Speaker 5: us at the WIN Academy that we are starting to
4:59
Speaker 5: run spat orientations for them.
5:01
Speaker 3: To explain what the WIN Academy is. You talked about
5:03
Speaker 3: it in the past, but if somebody's tuning in for
5:05
Speaker 3: the first time, what is the WIN Academy.
5:06
Speaker 5: So the WIN Academy is a high school at Bridge
5:09
Speaker 5: Valley that allows students to do college while they're still
5:12
Speaker 5: in high school. So if you were a high school
5:14
Speaker 5: student and you were interested in nursing, you would come
5:17
Speaker 5: to us and we would enroll you in any pre
5:18
Speaker 5: nursing courses and then in nursing courses with the goal
5:21
Speaker 5: of getting you towards finishing your RN as close to
5:25
Speaker 5: high school graduation as possible. So for most of our
5:28
Speaker 5: students who graduated last year, it means they'll only have
5:31
Speaker 5: one year of college left to go and then they'll
5:34
Speaker 5: be sitting for the state inclex, which is I.
5:36
Speaker 3: Mean, that's amazing to me. That's amazing to me.
5:38
Speaker 5: I mean, saving families tens of thousands of dollars. It's
5:42
Speaker 5: really a great experience. If it's right for your student right.
5:46
Speaker 3: Next month, and we could talk about it as we
5:47
Speaker 3: get a little bit closer. We'll have you on a
5:49
Speaker 3: couple times next month as well. But next month, August
5:51
Speaker 3: the twenty sixth, you're going to be doing a student
5:54
Speaker 3: employment fair. Tell us about that.
5:55
Speaker 5: Are So, it turns out we have some incredible experiences
5:59
Speaker 5: and our oportunities for students to have jobs while they're students.
6:03
Speaker 5: So one of those is learn and earn. We've talked
6:05
Speaker 5: about that before. It's where companies partner with us and
6:08
Speaker 5: they come in and say, hey, I'm Moses Automotive and
6:12
Speaker 5: I need an accountant, and so let's try and get
6:15
Speaker 5: a student out of the accounting program and put them
6:17
Speaker 5: into one of our stores so that they can get
6:20
Speaker 5: experience as an accountant, and then when they graduate from
6:22
Speaker 5: Bridge Valley, our hope is that that business decides to
6:26
Speaker 5: hire the student. So we have so many of those
6:28
Speaker 5: opportunities that we're doing a dedicated fair for our students
6:31
Speaker 5: to try and get them connected to employers who have
6:33
Speaker 5: said we really want to hire Bridge Valley students.
6:36
Speaker 3: I mean these things that you do, doctor Sachs in
6:40
Speaker 3: with the community and with the business leaders I mean,
6:42
Speaker 3: I think it's surely groundbreaking, and I think more and
6:45
Speaker 3: more institutions of higher learning could probably learn from what
6:48
Speaker 3: you are doing and what your college is doing.
6:50
Speaker 5: We hope. So I think it's a great way to
6:52
Speaker 5: get our community involved, and it's wonderful for our students
6:55
Speaker 5: because our goal is that they end up with jobs
6:57
Speaker 5: right here in the Cannan Valley.
6:59
Speaker 3: And again, it's all about trying to keep those folks.
7:02
Speaker 5: Here right We're proud of the fact that almost nine
7:05
Speaker 5: out of ten of our graduates stay right here in
7:08
Speaker 5: West Virginia. That's a phenomenal number that any of our
7:12
Speaker 5: local colleges would be very envious of. So we'd love
7:16
Speaker 5: it to be ten out of ten. It just means
7:18
Speaker 5: we need to help employers better connect to our students
7:21
Speaker 5: so that they see those jobs that exist in the region.
7:23
Speaker 3: Talking to doctor Casey Sackebridge Value to Dave Allen Show
7:26
Speaker 3: in five Any Live brought to you a part by
7:27
Speaker 3: Jute for the best in security systems for both your
7:30
Speaker 3: home or business. Talk to Jute joot Otay's Valley visit
7:33
Speaker 3: protected by Jute dot Com. Let's talk fassa Faster Fridays continues.
7:39
Speaker 5: So nationally, students still are down in terms of the
7:43
Speaker 5: number of folks who have filled out their Free Application
7:45
Speaker 5: for Federal Student Aid or the FASVA. But we've set
7:49
Speaker 5: up FAFSO Fridays for people to be able to come
7:52
Speaker 5: in and get helps. It's a complicated federal form. It's
7:55
Speaker 5: like doing your taxes if you've never done them before.
7:57
Speaker 5: You need a little bit of help, and so we've
8:00
Speaker 5: dedicated staff time specifically. Any day you're welcome to come
8:04
Speaker 5: in and get help with FAFTSVA, but we specifically have
8:06
Speaker 5: said on Friday to make sure that we're staffed up
8:09
Speaker 5: so that people can come in and get that support
8:11
Speaker 5: that they may need so that they can fill out
8:13
Speaker 5: the form to come to school.
8:14
Speaker 3: And the farms can be quite complicated, especially if you're
8:17
Speaker 3: not used to filling out those type of forms.
8:19
Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, it's a federal form and so.
8:22
Speaker 3: Well, I mean, nobody ever said the government was going
8:24
Speaker 3: to make it easy, right.
8:25
Speaker 5: And we really want it to be as easy as possible.
8:28
Speaker 5: So we're trying to do everything we can to support
8:30
Speaker 5: people so that they can come to school.
8:32
Speaker 3: And one of the hours for your for Fatster Friday.
8:34
Speaker 5: Again, they're safest if they come in sometime between nine
8:37
Speaker 5: and four.
8:37
Speaker 3: Okay, anytime during what we would call the regular hours
8:40
Speaker 3: on Friday. This is something that you offer for anybody
8:42
Speaker 3: that wants to come in to get more information.
8:44
Speaker 5: Actually, one of our county commissioners texted and said, one
8:47
Speaker 5: of my nieces is going to WVU, but could they
8:49
Speaker 5: come to fafts with Friday at Bridge Valley anyway, And
8:51
Speaker 5: we said, absolutely, come out.
8:53
Speaker 3: And that's a really that's that was gonna be. My
8:55
Speaker 3: next question is if somebody is going somewhere else a
8:57
Speaker 3: WVU or Marshall or wherever, it doesn't matter, you can
9:00
Speaker 3: still help them with these programs.
9:01
Speaker 5: Happy to help them, and those same students, it turns out,
9:03
Speaker 5: come to us for their summer school when they're struggling
9:05
Speaker 5: in anatomy and physiology and microbiology. They usually come home
9:09
Speaker 5: and take it from Bridge Valley in the summer.
9:11
Speaker 3: And that's again I talked about the relationships that Bridge
9:15
Speaker 3: Valley has with the community, but this is also a
9:17
Speaker 3: big thing that you do. You have relationships and great
9:19
Speaker 3: relationships with other institutions of higher learning throughout the state.
9:22
Speaker 5: We do one partnership that I'm so proud of. It's
9:25
Speaker 5: the first of its kind in West Virginia is that
9:27
Speaker 5: we have a three plus one agreement with WVU and Nursing,
9:30
Speaker 5: So it means that students can take three years of
9:33
Speaker 5: nursing at Bridge Valley and do one year of nursing
9:35
Speaker 5: at WVU and be finished with their BSN their bachelor's
9:39
Speaker 5: degree in nursing. It's a phenomenal partnership with the WVU.
9:42
Speaker 5: They've been really great at saying how do we get
9:45
Speaker 5: more students through this pipeline. And it's wonderful for our students.
9:48
Speaker 5: It means they don't even have to move out of
9:50
Speaker 5: this Canna Valley community. They can stay right here and
9:53
Speaker 5: finish that degree.
9:54
Speaker 3: And lastly, I understand that you have plans for a
9:57
Speaker 3: golf tournament coming up this fall, and I know we've
9:59
Speaker 3: got some time to work on that and to talk
10:01
Speaker 3: about it. But I know a lot of my friends
10:03
Speaker 3: and a lot of folks who listen to the show
10:04
Speaker 3: are avid golfers and they're always looking for an opportunity
10:07
Speaker 3: to hit the links, you know, for you know, and
10:08
Speaker 3: if we can, if we can do some good for
10:10
Speaker 3: the community, so be it. But we're out there to
10:12
Speaker 3: fund a golf tournament. Talk about the golf tournament.
10:15
Speaker 5: So that's exactly it. We're hoping that more people get
10:17
Speaker 5: engaged and see that this is really valuable way to
10:20
Speaker 5: help support our students. But it's October twenty first, and
10:24
Speaker 5: the idea is, so we got a federal grant that
10:27
Speaker 5: allows us to take money and put it towards our
10:29
Speaker 5: Student Opportunity Fund, so that helps pay for students who
10:32
Speaker 5: are a flat tire away from dropping out of school.
10:35
Speaker 5: We saw that that was a real need in the community.
10:38
Speaker 5: We've got great financial aid, but we want to make
10:40
Speaker 5: sure we support students however we can, and so the
10:43
Speaker 5: golf tournament is to come up with the match that's
10:45
Speaker 5: required to draw down those federal funds. So you'll you'll
10:49
Speaker 5: double the investment at Bridge Valley and it directly all
10:52
Speaker 5: of the money goes directly to help support students who
10:55
Speaker 5: live right here in the valley who just need a
10:56
Speaker 5: little bit of extra here.
10:57
Speaker 3: Where's the tournament going to be here?
10:58
Speaker 5: That's such a good question.
11:00
Speaker 4: I don't remember.
11:02
Speaker 3: Well, we'll have more information between now and then. I mean,
11:04
Speaker 3: you got several golf courses in the area it could
11:06
Speaker 3: be held at, So tune in next month to find
11:09
Speaker 3: out where the golf turtlement. Maybe you should just have
11:11
Speaker 3: it on the campus of a Bridge Valley, just to
11:13
Speaker 3: have it up there, you know. Speaking of which, I
11:16
Speaker 3: heard you and Steve Animal talking in the green room there,
11:20
Speaker 3: and I've asked you repeatedly not to have contact with
11:22
Speaker 3: Steve Animal, but he was talking about something that he
11:26
Speaker 3: has done for a number of years up there, and
11:28
Speaker 3: again we got time to talk about it between now
11:30
Speaker 3: and then. That's your big pumpkin drop.
11:32
Speaker 5: Yes, in October. It's wonderful. High school and middle school
11:36
Speaker 5: teachers from all over the region put together teams of
11:42
Speaker 5: students who build an apparatus that's supposed to protect a pumpkin,
11:46
Speaker 5: and then AEP and the power park. So it's a
11:49
Speaker 5: big collaborative. So Ap brings in their bucket trucks and
11:53
Speaker 5: they drop these pumpkins from way up in the air
11:55
Speaker 5: in the power park and Steve's are MC and so
11:59
Speaker 5: we see which of the pumpkins make it, and we
12:01
Speaker 5: give students trophies and scholarships. It's really a fun event.
12:05
Speaker 3: All right, And again we have plenty of time to
12:06
Speaker 3: talk about, plus to talk about where the golf tournament's.
12:08
Speaker 2: Going to be too.
12:09
Speaker 5: I'll know next time.
12:11
Speaker 3: I have a feeling that I'm going to find out
12:13
Speaker 3: the next ten minutes because you own you leave, You're
12:15
Speaker 3: probably gonna text me and say get this on the air,

16:40
Speaker 3: up with us here momentarily. I understand Texas. So basically,
16:45
Speaker 3: let's get this straight. President Biden held only the fourth
16:48
Speaker 3: Oval Office address behind the Resolute desks, in forming the
16:51
Speaker 3: nation of absolutely nothing. It was a complete waste of time. Basically,
16:55
Speaker 3: he said, vote for Harris, not Trump. He's a bad guy.
16:57
Speaker 3: What a joke. I watched the President's address last night,
17:02
Speaker 3: as did many of you, and of course we carred
17:04
Speaker 3: it here live on the ears. I didn't time it
17:07
Speaker 3: but fifteen maybe twenty minutes something like that maybe. And
17:12
Speaker 3: let me just say this, and I will say, despite
17:16
Speaker 3: what let's see, how can I say this, No matter
17:19
Speaker 3: how you feel about President Biden, I think that if
17:24
Speaker 3: you watch the address the President Biden gave to the
17:27
Speaker 3: nation last night, this of course coming down the heels
17:30
Speaker 3: of his stepping out of the race, which was announced
17:33
Speaker 3: this past weekend. I think that I think that the
17:38
Speaker 3: President probably made the right decision in stepping out of
17:43
Speaker 3: the race. Now the question can always be asked, did
17:45
Speaker 3: he make that decision or was the decision made for him?
17:49
Speaker 3: And no one's going to really know what went on
17:51
Speaker 3: behind closed doors. I was watching some of the some
17:55
Speaker 3: of the pundits last night. I kind of flip around.
17:57
Speaker 3: If I'm watching it during the night, I will flip
18:00
Speaker 3: around between, you know, everything from eleven minutes somebody said,
18:04
Speaker 3: just taking me said his address was eleven minutes, Thank
18:07
Speaker 3: you very much. I watch her, you know, anytime that
18:10
Speaker 3: there's something like that going on, I'll flip around between CNN,
18:13
Speaker 3: Fox News, News Nation, MSNBC, whatever, just to kind of
18:18
Speaker 3: get the different the different takes on the particular address.
18:22
Speaker 3: And I will say, as I said, it was not
18:27
Speaker 3: a It was not a strong speech or by any
18:32
Speaker 3: stretch of the imagination. He was in a controlled environment,
18:35
Speaker 3: setting behind a desk, reading from a teleprompter. And I
18:38
Speaker 3: think that if anybody, and I'm going to say this,
18:41
Speaker 3: and I'm trying to sound as nicely as possible as
18:44
Speaker 3: I can about it. If anybody wondered if the president,
18:49
Speaker 3: as I said at the top of the segment, the
18:50
Speaker 3: president made the right decision in stepping aside or being
18:54
Speaker 3: forced aside or whatever, I would say that based on
18:59
Speaker 3: that speech that eleven minute according to a textra thank
19:01
Speaker 3: you very much, the eleven minute speech, I think I
19:05
Speaker 3: think the correct decision was made because in my opinion,
19:10
Speaker 3: I'm not an expert on this many stretch of the imagination,
19:12
Speaker 3: but I think that the president President Biden has gone
19:18
Speaker 3: downhill drastically in the last couple of years, uh, particularly
19:23
Speaker 3: within the last year, and it was exposed at the debate.
19:28
Speaker 3: And honestly, I mean Donald Trump in that debate didn't
19:33
Speaker 3: have to do a whole heck of a lot. He
19:35
Speaker 3: basically just kind of stood back. And I actually saw
19:38
Speaker 3: a clip yesterday I was slipping through the channels and
19:40
Speaker 3: saw a clip from the debate. And I noticed this
19:42
Speaker 3: the first the night I watched the debate, just looking
19:47
Speaker 3: at the expression on former President Trump's face as he
19:52
Speaker 3: was watching Joe Biden speak during the debate, and he
19:58
Speaker 3: just kind of had he just had to I had
20:00
Speaker 3: this look on his face that was just kind of like, yeah,
20:03
Speaker 3: go ahead and keep talking, because you're really hurting yourself.
20:05
Speaker 2: And he was.
20:06
Speaker 3: And I think, again my opinion, I think that the
20:09
Speaker 3: I think the proper decision was made in the President
20:12
Speaker 3: stepping by, and I think that that speech last night,
20:15
Speaker 3: I think really really bared that out. But Dave Island

20:43
Speaker 10: Hey, Dave's good to be with you, and I'm glad
20:44
Speaker 10: you're talking politics.
20:46
Speaker 3: That's what I do from time to time when I'm
20:49
Speaker 3: not trying to get a dog at opted or whatever
20:50
Speaker 3: else I'm talking about.
20:52
Speaker 4: Sir.
20:52
Speaker 3: We've talked about it on the show in the past,
20:54
Speaker 3: and that is the need for poll workers in West
20:57
Speaker 3: Virginia still a few months away from the general elation,
20:59
Speaker 3: but now is the time time for the county clerks
21:01
Speaker 3: to start getting their list together to work the polls.
21:03
Speaker 3: Talk about it.
21:04
Speaker 10: You're absolutely correct, And next week is National poll Worker
21:07
Speaker 10: Recruitment Day. The nation is thinking ahead of time, and
21:11
Speaker 10: that is to get these memes of people who are
21:13
Speaker 10: interested into the county clerks so that they can then
21:16
Speaker 10: set up proper training to get them trained. And so
21:18
Speaker 10: next week is POE Worker Recruiting Day. I'm glad you're
21:22
Speaker 10: talking about it because there's anybody who's interested in being
21:25
Speaker 10: a poll worker who's listening to this show. Now's a
21:27
Speaker 10: great time. There's all this enthusiasm after the Republican you
21:31
Speaker 10: mentioned the Democratic convention coming up, the excitement with Harris
21:35
Speaker 10: and Biden, and then the assassination on Trump. That's right,
21:38
Speaker 10: a lot of attention early on to this whole election season.
21:42
Speaker 10: So if people, if you want to be a poll worker,
21:46
Speaker 10: I encourage you to talk to your county party chair,
21:49
Speaker 10: Republican or Democrat chair. That's the best way. If they
21:52
Speaker 10: submit a list to the county clerks, or you can
21:55
Speaker 10: short change that. You can go directly to your county
21:57
Speaker 10: clerk and you can also come to the Western Secretary
22:00
Speaker 10: of State's website and enter your information and we will
22:02
Speaker 10: pass it to the county clerk. So really easy to do.
22:06
Speaker 10: I think you may have mentioned you get paid to
22:08
Speaker 10: do this.
22:08
Speaker 3: I want to talk about the money, Secretory. Let's talk
22:10
Speaker 3: about the money, Secretary. I mean, I know it varies
22:12
Speaker 3: from county to county, but on average, what can you
22:15
Speaker 3: make me in a pollworker?
22:17
Speaker 10: Well, there's the training. It's about two hours of training
22:19
Speaker 10: and you can get paid anywhere from thirty five to
22:21
Speaker 10: fifty dollars depending on the county. And then on election day.
22:24
Speaker 10: Now it's a long day, but you can get paid
22:26
Speaker 10: anywhere between two hundred and fifty to three hundred dollars. So,
22:29
Speaker 10: especially for a young person, we're encouraging young people to
22:32
Speaker 10: register to be poll workers. That's a fair amount of money.
22:34
Speaker 10: It's a long day, but it's a fair payment compensation.
22:38
Speaker 10: The real reward is in being a part of this
22:41
Speaker 10: democratic pop process. But it is nice to have some
22:43
Speaker 10: pocket chiney change to run around with after serving a
22:47
Speaker 10: good long day.
22:47
Speaker 3: Well, and as I said, and again we're talking with
22:49
Speaker 3: westro do you Secretary of State, Mike Warner, as you said,
22:53
Speaker 3: you know, it is a long day. I mean, polls
22:54
Speaker 3: are open from six thirty am to seven thirty pm.
22:56
Speaker 3: Most poll workers arrive around five thirty, but with the
23:00
Speaker 3: tronic voting systems and whatnot, they're normally out the door
23:03
Speaker 3: by and it varies again. By eight or eight thirty,
23:06
Speaker 3: they're usually done. And yeah, it's well over a twelve
23:09
Speaker 3: hour day, but it ain't exactly as I used to
23:12
Speaker 3: tell people. It's not exactly like you're digging ditches, you know.
23:15
Speaker 3: I mean, it's not that you're not working, don't get
23:17
Speaker 3: me wrong. And it can be kind of hectic, especially
23:19
Speaker 3: when people all come in, you know, at one time.
23:22
Speaker 3: But you know there's a little downtime too, and that's
23:25
Speaker 3: not bad money for young people. And that's what I
23:28
Speaker 3: think that there really needs to be a emphasis and
23:30
Speaker 3: I know your office does this on trying to get
23:33
Speaker 3: more young people involved the I mean, I don't know
23:35
Speaker 3: what these statistics show, but when I was doing that
23:38
Speaker 3: sort of thing and you're out and you're visiting polling places,
23:40
Speaker 3: you know, the average poleworker probably had a few years
23:43
Speaker 3: on them. And that's not a bad thing, don't get
23:45
Speaker 3: me wrong. But eventually they are going to just get
23:48
Speaker 3: tired and say, you know it's time for somebody else
23:50
Speaker 3: to take over.
23:51
Speaker 10: Well, I like to cite to give a shout out
23:53
Speaker 10: to Barbara County. Barbara County took it to heart when
23:56
Speaker 10: we went up there, and you're aware of our Jennings
23:58
Speaker 10: Randoff or of it in honor of Senator Jennings ran
24:01
Speaker 10: Off from West Virginia who got eighteen year olds the
24:03
Speaker 10: right to vote with the twenty sixth Amendment. Well, the
24:07
Speaker 10: people that do that at the high schools in Barber
24:10
Speaker 10: County took it to heart and encourage people then to
24:12
Speaker 10: become poll workers. In the primary in May, they had
24:15
Speaker 10: twelve people who high school students who came in and
24:17
Speaker 10: worked the polls and it just brought a breath of
24:20
Speaker 10: fresh air into the system. So you have those train
24:22
Speaker 10: workers that you talked about, some of these senior citizens
24:25
Speaker 10: working with the young folks. And the beauty of this
24:28
Speaker 10: is once they've become a poll worker one time, they
24:30
Speaker 10: see how much fun it is. How you get to
24:33
Speaker 10: know people who are from the community. Typically they bring
24:36
Speaker 10: in a pot luck, they bring in chili or hot dogs,
24:38
Speaker 10: their pizza and that sort of thing. So it's kind
24:40
Speaker 10: of a community affair. And people just have a good
24:43
Speaker 10: time with it. And now we're building that bench for
24:48
Speaker 10: future years of poll workers down the line, and it
24:52
Speaker 10: gets them involved in the political process and it lets
24:54
Speaker 10: them know how secure the elections are so they can
24:57
Speaker 10: spread that word in the community. It just tamps down
24:59
Speaker 10: all this conspiracy theory talk that goes around. So we've
25:03
Speaker 10: got great elections, secure elections in West Virginia. And that's
25:06
Speaker 10: what this whole conversation is about. Is be a part
25:08
Speaker 10: of it. Be a poll worker.
25:09
Speaker 3: And I've said this in the past. You mentioned the
25:11
Speaker 3: food that poll workers. It may be a long day,
25:14
Speaker 3: but they're not going to starve the death because in
25:17
Speaker 3: my when I worked in the office, sir, when you
25:19
Speaker 3: went around to the poll every polling place had had
25:22
Speaker 3: something to eat. You're definitely not going to starve the death.
25:25
Speaker 10: I knew I would get you started when I mentioned
25:27
Speaker 10: to the.
25:27
Speaker 3: Day, Hey, come on now, but Dave Islands joll and
25:30
Speaker 3: five any LIVEE present about General Hardware Windfield and Milton
25:32
Speaker 3: general number of Winfield for all projects big and small,
25:35
Speaker 3: shop locally visit General Hardware wv dot com. And do
25:39
Speaker 3: you need I'm presuming you do you need workers for
25:41
Speaker 3: early voting too, right.
25:43
Speaker 10: We did it, so right now it's a good time
25:44
Speaker 10: to get into the system. The Kirks will then give
25:47
Speaker 10: you notification as to when the training is. You do
25:49
Speaker 10: get paid that thirty five to fifty dollars for the training,
25:52
Speaker 10: just a two error training session, and then they'll let
25:55
Speaker 10: you know whether you're going to be called up for
25:57
Speaker 10: election day. So now it's never too early to sign
26:00
Speaker 10: up to be a poll worker. Next week is National
26:03
Speaker 10: poll Worker Recruiting Day, that's why we're talking about it now,
26:06
Speaker 10: and then you can do it anytime up until well
26:09
Speaker 10: basically the election, but you need to have that training.
26:11
Speaker 10: So there's gonna be another push in September to get
26:15
Speaker 10: people to sign up as we head right into that
26:18
Speaker 10: very vital elections period.
26:20
Speaker 3: But a text of the show here, sir, can an
26:22
Speaker 3: independent be a poll worker?
26:24
Speaker 10: They sure can. What the law requires is poll workers
26:28
Speaker 10: and different parties. It doesn't necessarily have the Republican Democrat.
26:33
Speaker 10: That's what the tip D is because it's the largest parties.
26:35
Speaker 10: But yes, an independent certainly can be. And so I
26:38
Speaker 10: encourage anybody to register to vote or register to be
26:42
Speaker 10: a pollworker.
26:42
Speaker 3: And this is something too that we saw last couple
26:45
Speaker 3: of years that you've got groups involved, you know, you
26:48
Speaker 3: reached out to And I don't know if this is
26:50
Speaker 3: still the case, but at one point, if you are
26:52
Speaker 3: a realtor, for example, you could get continuing education points
26:56
Speaker 3: for being a poll worker. At one time that was
26:57
Speaker 3: the case.
26:58
Speaker 10: Absolutely, the realtor is stepped up. I think back in
27:02
Speaker 10: the twenty twenty action and it was very productive. We
27:04
Speaker 10: encourage business owners, we've done that, We've encouraged veterans, we
27:09
Speaker 10: encourage young people. So yes, we're reaching out to different groups,
27:12
Speaker 10: because each one of them, as we get to them,
27:14
Speaker 10: it's like, oh, yeah, the light bulb comes on. Why
27:16
Speaker 10: wouldn't a business owner want to be a poll worker.
27:18
Speaker 10: Why wouldn't a veteran. The veterans raise their hand to
27:21
Speaker 10: serve their country at one point, why not do it
27:24
Speaker 10: now and become a poll worker. And if those people
27:27
Speaker 10: when you go in to vote and you see them,
27:28
Speaker 10: and you see it's a local business owner, it's a veteran,
27:31
Speaker 10: it's a church leader, a realtor, there's a comfort level
27:36
Speaker 10: you know things are being done right, that those aren't
27:38
Speaker 10: people that are going to do something nefarious. And so
27:41
Speaker 10: we've really changed the image in West Virginia, we're now
27:44
Speaker 10: leading the nation in the election integrity and security. Every
27:48
Speaker 10: person who has a cell phone is an extension of
27:50
Speaker 10: our investigative office. But if you see various activities, you
27:53
Speaker 10: see somebody buying a vote or twisting an arm to
27:55
Speaker 10: get somebody to vote, take a picture of her and
27:57
Speaker 10: send it in. It's our see something tech something, And
28:00
Speaker 10: again West Virginia is leading the nation with that. And
28:03
Speaker 10: the idea is not so much to catch somebody, it's
28:05
Speaker 10: to deter from happening in the first place. If everybody
28:08
Speaker 10: knows some of the cell phone could be taking a
28:11
Speaker 10: picture of me out here behind you know, the car,
28:14
Speaker 10: trying to buy a vote, they can be reported. So
28:17
Speaker 10: with our investigators all across the state, we can have
28:20
Speaker 10: an investigator on site anywhere in the state in about
28:23
Speaker 10: an hour and stop any activities that may be happening,
28:27
Speaker 10: or you know, make sure things are being done correctly.
28:30
Speaker 10: So there's just a lot good going on here in
28:33
Speaker 10: West Virginia. And if we can just get the poll workers.
28:36
Speaker 10: We always seem to pull it out at the last minute.
28:37
Speaker 3: Make sure.
28:38
Speaker 10: We've never had the real poll worker shortage, but it's
28:41
Speaker 10: nice to have those alternates on deck. We had one
28:44
Speaker 10: election where a pregnant woman gave birth the night before
28:47
Speaker 10: the election, so we had to get a substitute in there.
28:50
Speaker 10: So that's like an extreme example of why we need
28:52
Speaker 10: some alternates. It's good to have a good list of
28:55
Speaker 10: people already already trained, ready to step in.
28:58
Speaker 3: Well and sorry. It makes people VERA McCormick and Brian
29:01
Speaker 3: would sleep a whole lot easier at night knowing that
29:03
Speaker 3: they already have the poll workers in place. Where's the
29:05
Speaker 3: best place for people again to get information to sign
29:07
Speaker 3: up to be a pollworker. I know you've mentioned the
29:09
Speaker 3: county clerks, but you can also go to the Secretary
29:11
Speaker 3: of State website.
29:12
Speaker 10: Yes, the secretary website is go vote WV dot com,
29:16
Speaker 10: and so you can just there's a link there that
29:18
Speaker 10: so become a poll worker and you click on that
29:20
Speaker 10: and it's very easy, very user friendly. You can go
29:23
Speaker 10: directly to the county clerk, or you can go through
29:25
Speaker 10: your party. If you know your party chair there in
29:28
Speaker 10: the county chair, go to them because they submit a
29:31
Speaker 10: list to the clerks. That's the best way. That's how
29:33
Speaker 10: you get the people from different parties is the Republican
29:36
Speaker 10: submitted list the Democrat submitted list. If there's an independent
29:39
Speaker 10: Green Party or any other affiliated party, they submit a
29:43
Speaker 10: list of the county clerk, and then the county clerk
29:45
Speaker 10: fixed the number of poll workers they need, depending on
29:48

Speaker 3: Good stuff. You may or may not have heard of this,
34:17
Speaker 3: but in the heart of my original homeland of Logan County,
34:21
Speaker 3: there is an outdoor drama that's been going on for
34:23
Speaker 3: a number of years. It's called the air coma story,
34:25
Speaker 3: and it's tell that the Amphitheater Chief Logan State Park.
34:28
Speaker 3: It's really literally over an hour, I mean about an
34:31
Speaker 3: hour or so from downtown Charleston, Bruce Mason and Kayla
34:34
Speaker 3: Markham join us now. Both have been a part of
34:36
Speaker 3: the aer Coma story for a number of years and
34:37
Speaker 3: they're back this year. Guys, welcome to the show.
34:40
Speaker 15: Hey Gay for having her.
34:42
Speaker 3: You guys are gonna have to decide which one's gonna
34:44
Speaker 3: talk first. Kayla always put Kayla on first. You know,
34:48
Speaker 3: she's the professional. So so I know it's a rich
34:53
Speaker 3: history with the air Comba story. But either one of
34:56
Speaker 3: you and maybe Bruce, we should defer to you because
34:58
Speaker 3: you've been around a little bit longer. Well give us
35:00
Speaker 3: some of the history behind the eric Coma story.
35:03
Speaker 15: This year, Diabor's are fiftieth anniversary. There's been the fiftieth
35:07
Speaker 15: consecutive run of the Erkoma story incorporated. It is nothing
35:13
Speaker 15: but wonderful. I wish everyone could see this day. If
35:16
Speaker 15: we just had I don't know, the media coverage of
35:20
Speaker 15: whatever we need to get people out to watch this,
35:23
Speaker 15: it would be great.
35:24
Speaker 3: And it started, as I understand if my memory chirts mccrect,
35:27
Speaker 3: that actually started I think what in the nineteen fifties,
35:31
Speaker 3: and then went away for a while, but then it
35:33
Speaker 3: came back and this is the fiftieth anniversary. As you said,
35:35
Speaker 3: but the history goes beyond fifty years.
35:38
Speaker 15: Right, Oh, yes, yes, I think it started in nineteen
35:41
Speaker 15: fifty two.
35:41
Speaker 3: It started as part of the centennial, as I remember,
35:44
Speaker 3: part of the centennial celebration of the City of Logan,
35:47
Speaker 3: and then they did it a couple of years and
35:48
Speaker 3: it went away. But then it was, as you said,
35:50
Speaker 3: brought back fifty years ago. And it's just one of
35:52
Speaker 3: those things that just you know, people love it and
35:57
Speaker 3: it's got to be I would think it. Either one
35:59
Speaker 3: of you can answer this. It's got to be one
36:01
Speaker 3: of the longest running outdoor productions in the state of
36:03
Speaker 3: West Virginia. I mean fifty years straight, is that right?
36:06
Speaker 15: That's true?
36:08
Speaker 3: So what is the candle's go to you? What is
36:10
Speaker 3: the basic premise of the production? What's the story of
36:12
Speaker 3: the ari Coma story?
36:13
Speaker 12: Oh, the aer.
36:14
Speaker 16: Coma story is about the people who inhabited our land
36:18
Speaker 16: long before any of us were ever thought of being,
36:21
Speaker 16: long before the Declaration of Independence. And it is about
36:27
Speaker 16: a Native American woman who is stepping into being the
36:32
Speaker 16: leader of a new set of the Shawnee Nation, and
36:35
Speaker 16: she happens to fall in love with a British soldier
36:40
Speaker 16: and they come together and tried to live in peace
36:44
Speaker 16: during a time that you know, America is fighting for
36:48
Speaker 16: independence and becoming a country. You've got the French Indian War,
36:53
Speaker 16: You've got the American Revolution.
36:55
Speaker 15: On the rise.
36:56
Speaker 16: So there's a rich, rich history there. But it's also
37:01
Speaker 16: a story that I think people can relate to on
37:04
Speaker 16: a personal level because it also shows the struggles of
37:07
Speaker 16: you know, a young woman falling in love, raising a family,
37:12
Speaker 16: going through tragedy, having to make decisions that will affect
37:15
Speaker 16: not only her life all of the people who depend
37:19
Speaker 16: on her. So there's a lot to take in. But
37:23
Speaker 16: it's something that is uniquely West Virginia history and uniquely
37:30
Speaker 16: Logan County history, and I think that it's something that
37:34
Speaker 16: everyone should know about. And of course we try to
37:38
Speaker 16: wrap all of that up within a couple of hours, right, So.
37:42
Speaker 3: It's everything you ever wanted to know within an hour
37:45
Speaker 3: and a half.
37:46
Speaker 15: Right.
37:46
Speaker 16: Yeah, it's like a shortened West Pretty history course. But
37:52
Speaker 16: it's definitely, I think an important story to be told,
37:55
Speaker 16: and that's why we've been telling it for more than
37:57
Speaker 16: fifty years.
37:58
Speaker 3: I'm talking about the Eric Holmes, one of West Virginia's
38:01
Speaker 3: longest running outdoor production celebrating their fiftieth anniversary. And I
38:05
Speaker 3: will say this Kayla and Bruce. Maybe I may be
38:07
Speaker 3: a little biased since it is happening in my hometown,
38:10
Speaker 3: but it is truly one of the most beautiful places
38:12
Speaker 3: to see a production of any kind. I mean, you're
38:15
Speaker 3: maybe two or three miles up into the park and
38:18
Speaker 3: when the sun starts to set, I mean, guys, you
38:20
Speaker 3: couldn't ask for a more beautiful setting.
38:23
Speaker 15: That's true.
38:25
Speaker 16: And people I think that it just pulls you into
38:27
Speaker 16: the story even more.
38:28
Speaker 3: Yeah, it does because you start what time does the
38:30
Speaker 3: production start nightly? Yeah, it starts at eight thirty and
38:36
Speaker 3: that's you know, at this time of year, that's when
38:38
Speaker 3: you're starting to get the sun setting. And it's just
38:39
Speaker 3: it's absolutely a beautiful setting. I will say this though,
38:42
Speaker 3: as somebody who spent a lot of time there, bring it.
38:45
Speaker 3: You might want to even bring a jacket because it
38:47
Speaker 3: does tend to get a little bit cooler up in
38:48
Speaker 3: that hollow there or as we say, down there up
38:50
Speaker 3: in the hollow right right.
38:53
Speaker 16: I always recommend bringing a jacket and bug spray.
38:58
Speaker 3: Yes, jackets and bucks where you can't go wrong with that.
39:00
Speaker 3: And and people literally come from all over the country
39:03
Speaker 3: for this. They arrive by the bus load for this, Bruce, Yes.
39:08
Speaker 15: Yes they do. We have a wide variety of people
39:12
Speaker 15: across the country coming in here, especially now that the
39:14
Speaker 15: trail system is in. We have a lot of fresh
39:17
Speaker 15: young people, you know, outriding these trails coming in and
39:20
Speaker 15: watching the show.
39:22
Speaker 3: And you two, I know, have been involved with this
39:24
Speaker 3: for quite quite some time through the years. What Caleb,
39:28
Speaker 3: what do you what do you individually? What do you
39:30
Speaker 3: get out of this?
39:33
Speaker 16: I think there's there's several things. One, like I said before,
39:39
Speaker 16: it's it's an important story to be told. Two, if
39:44
Speaker 16: you are a little girl growing up in Logan County,
39:47
Speaker 16: uh and you get involved in theater, which the air
39:50
Speaker 16: Comas story is the show that made me want to
39:54
Speaker 16: do theater. I just thought it was so beautiful. I
39:58
Speaker 16: was mesmerized by everything going on. And I remember auditioning
40:02
Speaker 16: for the first time, and I think they were doing
40:04
Speaker 16: sound of music as well, and they were like, we
40:08
Speaker 16: want you to sing for this show, and I was like, no,
40:10
Speaker 16: I don't want to do that. I want to be
40:11
Speaker 16: in the Erica the other one.
40:13
Speaker 3: You want to do the other one?
40:14
Speaker 16: Britt Never like, you don't want to be an on
40:16
Speaker 16: trapped kid. I was like, no, I want to be
40:19
Speaker 16: in the Aripoma.
40:20
Speaker 3: I want to be Princess Eric Coma. Bruce, what do
40:22
Speaker 3: you get out of it? I know you've been involved
40:23
Speaker 3: with it for a long time, buddy, what do you
40:25
Speaker 3: get out of this?
40:26
Speaker 15: Dave? Let me tell you a small story. I kind
40:28
Speaker 15: of had. My ex mother in law forced me into
40:31
Speaker 15: watching the Eric Commer story. She got tickets. She was
40:34
Speaker 15: the manager of the Erkalma story at the time, and
40:37
Speaker 15: I'm you know, I come from the holler, like you said,
40:40
Speaker 15: and wasn't used to anything like that. I watched it
40:42
Speaker 15: for the first time and I messed Marise at that
40:45
Speaker 15: point in my life. I made a decision to do that,
40:48
Speaker 15: and I wish everyone could watch it. The biggest part
40:51
Speaker 15: of them would make that decision too.
40:53
Speaker 3: So there have been some changes over the years from
40:56
Speaker 3: time to time, because a lot of times people say, well,
40:58
Speaker 3: I saw it last year. But that's one of the
40:59
Speaker 3: things I can kind of like about this that there's
41:01
Speaker 3: been subtle changes over the story over there. Nothing major,
41:04
Speaker 3: you know, but just a little change just to kind
41:06
Speaker 3: of freshen it up this year. What are the dates
41:08
Speaker 3: of the performances Kaylea, we actually.
41:12
Speaker 16: Open tonight July twenty fifth through the twenty eighth, August
41:16
Speaker 16: first through fourth, and then the ah through the.
41:19
Speaker 3: Eleventh, and talk about tickets. Are they available online? You
41:22
Speaker 3: just get them at the box office. What do you do?
41:25
Speaker 16: You can call ahead to the air coming story office
41:28
Speaker 16: three zero four seven five two zero two five three,
41:31
Speaker 16: or you can get them right there at the gate.
41:34
Speaker 16: And I'm not sure if we can get them anywhere else, Bruce,
41:37
Speaker 16: that would be a gog question.
41:39
Speaker 15: I think Eric coma drugg in chapman Zille. You can
41:42
Speaker 15: get them there, but you can also get group rates too,
41:45
Speaker 15: if you bring several, you know, call in, they will
41:47
Speaker 15: give you group.
41:47
Speaker 3: Breaks on me and people do I mean, I've seen
41:50
Speaker 3: it in the past, man, I mean people. I mean
41:52
Speaker 3: they'll bring church buses down, they'll bring tori I mean literally,
41:54
Speaker 3: this is something that goes all over the country. I
41:57
Speaker 3: did not realize when we set the interview up that
41:58
Speaker 3: this was the fiftieth and versary of the fifty straight
42:02
Speaker 3: years you guys have been doing this. It's something I

45:56
Speaker 3: real issue with it, as does Parkersburg. Parkersburg Mayor Tom
45:59
Speaker 3: Joyce is going to join Hoppy to discuss what they've
46:01
Speaker 3: done in his city. Plus mentioned earlier for the first
46:04

46:33

46:35
Speaker 3: make her do all the work. Morgan Robinson is going
46:37

46:53

46:57
Speaker 3: as I mentioned yesterday the situation with the Tyler Mountain
47:00
Speaker 3: Volunteer Fire Department, it's been going on for some time.
47:03
Speaker 3: Another public meeting schedule to be held tonight at the
47:05
Speaker 3: fire department at seven o'clock, So if you live or
47:07
Speaker 3: work in that area, you may want to plan on attending.
47:10
Speaker 8: Now.
47:10
Speaker 3: They had a mass exodus from the department not long ago,
47:13
Speaker 3: and I'm told that some of the staff did return.
47:16
Speaker 3: What will happen next? I guess we'll find out tomorrow
47:19
Speaker 3: at or tonight, rather, I should say at the meeting
47:22
Speaker 3: which begins at seven o'clock. Mentioned this earlier, actually I've
47:27
Speaker 3: mentioned it three times now. Two more counties in West
47:30
Speaker 3: Virginia have flipped from blue to red, and for the
47:33
Speaker 3: first time in a long time. And again I don't
47:37
Speaker 3: know the statistics. I'm sure Matt Harry to say GP
47:40
Speaker 3: party chair is going to be on with Hopey around
47:41
Speaker 3: ten thirty I think or so this morning. Matt will
47:44
Speaker 3: know that both Kanawha County and Fayette County now have
47:48
Speaker 3: majority Republican voters as opposed to Democrats. You heard that right.
47:55
Speaker 3: There are now more registered Republican voters in Kanawa County
47:59
Speaker 3: than there are Democrats voters. And that is significant, folks.
48:05
Speaker 3: That is huge in my opinion. And I'm not I'm
48:08
Speaker 3: not taking sides either way. I am just saying that
48:11
Speaker 3: is a monumental deal that in Kanawha County there are
48:15
Speaker 3: now more Republicans than Democrats. It is simply not a
48:19
Speaker 3: good time for the Democratic Party in West Virginia. And
48:22
Speaker 3: I'm going to tell you, folks, it is not going
48:24
Speaker 3: to change anytime soon. I'm not gonna say never, but
48:31
Speaker 3: it's not going to change anytime soon. This red wave
48:33
Speaker 3: is going to continue throughout West Virginia. And if you
48:37
Speaker 3: think it's going to change whether Trump is elected or
48:40
Speaker 3: Trump is not elected, it's not.
48:42
Speaker 2: This.
48:42
Speaker 3: This goes well well beyond. This has been coming for
48:45
Speaker 3: some time. It's actually been coming before Trump and under Trump.
48:48
Speaker 3: It is definitely going to continue. But even when Trump
48:50
Speaker 3: is gone, it's going to continue. It's gonna it's gonna
48:54
Speaker 3: keep going. Did you happen to see the video of
48:56
Speaker 3: the net and Yahoo U appearance in front of a
49:01
Speaker 3: joint session of Congress yesterday? Several Democratic leaders opted not
49:06
Speaker 3: to be a part of it, among those vice president
49:10
Speaker 3: and presumptive nominee for president, Vice President Kamala Harris. However,
49:16
Speaker 3: I just saw a newsflash that both Biden and Harris
49:20
Speaker 3: are going to meet with Net and Yahoo today. If
49:22
Speaker 3: you saw the video that I saw that broke late
49:24
Speaker 3: yesterday afternoon of the protest in d C. Look, protests
49:29
Speaker 3: are one thing. Okay, I'm all about protest. If you
49:32
Speaker 3: want to protest, that's fine. But when you come when
49:34
Speaker 3: it comes to what we witnessed yesterday with the burning
49:40
Speaker 3: of the flags and the graffiti on the on the
49:44
Speaker 3: statues and whatnot there, it's that just goes that goes
49:49
Speaker 3: above them me on it's I mean that that's just
49:52
Speaker 3: out of control. But yeah, it just broke here that
49:55
Speaker 3: the President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will meet
49:59
Speaker 3: with Benjamin Net and Yahoo today. Big Ley Piggley Wiggly

Speaker 3: press today, but it'll be meeting computers or phones. He
50:16
Speaker 3: has a virtual meeting with the press today starting new
50:20
Speaker 3: Brad has the lead story posted about at wv metronews
50:23
Speaker 3: dot com. He is going to be asked about and
50:27
Speaker 3: he's not going to be happy about it, but he's
50:29
Speaker 3: going to be asked about these impending lawsuits suits meaning
50:34
Speaker 3: two against the state that could possibly hold Randall Reid Smith,
50:39
Speaker 3: the Secretary for Arts and all that goes along with that,
50:43
Speaker 3: personally responsible in the baby dog murals scandal. Again, folks,
50:49
Speaker 3: this story is not about a dog in a painting.
50:53
Speaker 3: It is about the process of which the whole thing
50:57
Speaker 3: came about. And he's also sure to be asked about
51:02
Speaker 3: the Mark Scott resignation. Side note, Hoppy writes about the
51:09
Speaker 3: Scott resignation as part of his commentary today. You can
51:11
Speaker 3: read that at wv metronews dot com. The story, folks,
51:15
Speaker 3: is going to be a big one. It's going to
51:20
Speaker 3: be a big story, and there's going to be a
51:21
Speaker 3: whole lot more layers to it. I will close the
51:24
Speaker 3: list on the parking garage situation at the Town Center.
51:27
Speaker 3: Published reports among those in this morning's gazet mail say
51:31
Speaker 3: this morning that the owner of the Marriott bought one
51:34
Speaker 3: of the Town Center parking garages for eight hundred thousand dollars. Now,
51:38
Speaker 3: this is the Washington Street East garage has around five
51:42
Speaker 3: hundred and twenty or so spaces. The Marriott's parent company
51:46
Speaker 3: is Infinity Hotels out of New Jersey. All right, let
51:50
Speaker 3: me see, dang Dave. Isn't the state Democratic Party chair
51:54
Speaker 3: Mike Pushkin from Kanawah County. Yes, indeed, he is from
51:57
Speaker 3: Kanawha County. And look, and you know the thing. One
52:01
Speaker 3: of the things I do like about Pushkin and Mike
52:03
Speaker 3: and I have become friends and is doing this show.
52:05
Speaker 3: We don't always agree, but we have become friends and
52:07
Speaker 3: is doing this show, is that he is one that
52:09
Speaker 3: realizes the problems with the Democratic Party in West Virginia,
52:13
Speaker 3: or at least the image of now he would say,
52:15
Speaker 3: the image of the Democratic Party and the perception of
52:18
Speaker 3: the Democratic Party. I'd say it probably probably. I would
52:22
Speaker 3: say it probably goes a little bit above and beyond that.
52:27
Speaker 3: But as I said, it's not going to change, folks,
52:29
Speaker 3: anytime soon. It is absolutely not going to change anytime soon.
52:33
Speaker 3: This red wave in West Virginia is going to continue,
52:35
Speaker 3: like it or not for some time. And that's not
52:39
Speaker 3: a preference of mine. It's not something I want to happen,
52:41
Speaker 3: not want to happen. I'm just saying it ain't going
52:44
Speaker 3: anywhere for a long long time. All right. Coming up
52:47
Speaker 3: on the show tomorrow, Morgan Robinson, We'll be here. Hannah
