- 0:27Speaker 1: I would not call me a newbie anymore. Today we
- 0:31Speaker 1: are discussing Wedding of a Lifetime, which originally aired on Saturday,
- 0:36Speaker 1: September seventeenth on the Hallmark Channel. If you want to
- 0:41Speaker 1: connect with us outside of the podcast, you can do
- 0:44Speaker 1: that on Instagram and on TikTok and on Twitter even

- 1:11Speaker 1: called What's Good, where we talk about everything that's good.
- 1:14Speaker 1: You know, we are who we are. We do veer
- 1:17Speaker 1: into the petty to complaint department every now and then,
- 1:21Speaker 1: but that's content that you're not getting anywhere else, that
- 1:23Speaker 1: is exclusively on Patreon, and you can find that by
- 1:27Speaker 1: visiting patreon dot com slash Megan and Wendy. You can
- 1:31Speaker 1: start and stop at any time. There's no long term
- 1:34Speaker 1: commitment to joining that. Before we talk about wedding of
- 1:37Speaker 1: a lifetime, let's talk about Hallmark. Okay, lots of Hallmark
- 1:40Speaker 1: stuff happening. Oh, I'm so excited, go for it. First step,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I have Alison Sweeney signed a multi picture deal with Hallmark.
- 1:47Speaker 1: She is set to star in a Magical Christmas Village
- 1:50Speaker 1: this year. She will star with Luke McFarlane, which that
- 1:53Speaker 1: may be his very last.
- 1:57Speaker 2: That's gonna be his last Hallmark movie, isn't it?
- 2:01Speaker 1: So we will definitely be tuning into that as well
- 2:03Speaker 1: as Marlo Thomas. I'm honestly surprised Alex Tweeney didn't have
- 2:07Speaker 1: a multi picture deal with Hallmark before this. I have
- 2:09Speaker 1: the note what took so long?
- 2:12Speaker 2: Like, I'm surprised she wasn't one of their first gets, right,
- 2:16Speaker 2: I look forward.
- 2:17Speaker 1: To her movies.
- 2:18Speaker 2: So this is kind of Hallmark News adjacent. Okay, So
- 2:22Speaker 2: you know Sleepy Kitty Paw on Twitter, which if you
- 2:25Speaker 2: guys are not if you're not on Twitter. Sleepy Kitty
- 2:28Speaker 2: Pot is some mystery person out there that has all
- 2:34Speaker 2: the Hallmark news. I mean more than Hallmark really, she
- 2:38Speaker 2: just has like news about every movie in production. Right,
- 2:43Speaker 2: It's incredible.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Actually, we did try to reach out to this person
- 2:48Speaker 1: at one time, and she gave us she or he,
- 2:50Speaker 1: we don't know, gave us the big fat no. Didn't
- 2:52Speaker 1: want to be on.
- 2:53Speaker 2: The podcast, very politely, but very politely. I wanted to
- 2:56Speaker 2: keep it real low key, like you know. Anyway. I
- 2:59Speaker 2: don't know where this person gets all this information. I
- 3:01Speaker 2: will leave a link to their Twitter in our show notes.
- 3:03Speaker 2: But what I wanted to talk about is up TV
- 3:07Speaker 2: announced today September twenty first, this is the day that
- 3:10Speaker 2: we are recording this episode, that they will have seventeen
- 3:13Speaker 2: new Christmas movies this holiday season, including a holiday music
- 3:18Speaker 2: special with someone I've never heard of before, a Christmas
- 3:22Speaker 2: docu series called Small Town Christmas, highlighting Christmas celebrations in
- 3:27Speaker 2: towns across the United States into it kind of into that, right, Yes,
- 3:35Speaker 2: I'm thinking that might kind of skew.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Do you guys watch that? Like Holiday light fight? Yeah?
- 3:40Speaker 2: Do you think it's gonna be like that, like, are
- 3:42Speaker 2: we gonna be looking at Christmas towns in the middle
- 3:44Speaker 2: of summer? Like towns who are towns they visited that
- 3:49Speaker 2: have like decorated in the middle of summer for Christmas.
- 3:52Speaker 1: I kind of forgot that's how Christmas Light Fight does it. Yeah,
- 3:56Speaker 1: so like the neighborhood's noc decked out. It's like one
- 3:59Speaker 1: stand alone house. It's like happy July. Right. Well, I
- 4:03Speaker 1: guess I'm hoping that they are a year like they
- 4:07Speaker 1: did last year. But they did these while they were
- 4:09Speaker 1: in action, not that they were thrown up for Christmas
- 4:11Speaker 1: in July.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Yeah, so okay, So there's that, and then of course
- 4:15Speaker 2: the return of the Seven Day Gilmour Girls Marathon.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Oh I love that, which I don't know why.
- 4:21Speaker 2: It's streamy, It's you can find it everywhere, right. It
- 4:24Speaker 2: is hosted by the actor who played Doci Docie's Taylor
- 4:28Speaker 2: Taylor Docie, Yes, and I was like they could have
- 4:31Speaker 2: totally hired us for that one hundred percent, like they're gonna.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Have trivia and this and that. I'm like, we could
- 4:35Speaker 1: have done that.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Yes, anyway, there is something about it, like knowing that
- 4:40Speaker 2: it's just on and you can turn it on.
- 4:42Speaker 1: They said they're gonna show like the entire series plus
- 4:44Speaker 1: a Year in the Life, the four movie. Yeah, the
- 4:46Speaker 1: four movies they're not movies, but the Year in a
- 4:48Speaker 1: Life episodes. Yeah. Oh that's fun. I don't think they've
- 4:50Speaker 1: ever done that. It must be new fun anyway. The
- 4:55Speaker 1: rumor is that Hallmark is probably going to announce their
- 4:59Speaker 1: countdown the care Smith's line at pretty dang soon. Yeah.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Maybe by the time this has come out, we will
- 5:04Speaker 1: have some information. As soon as that information drops, we
- 5:07Speaker 1: will put together a countdown to Christmas preview episode with
- 5:10Speaker 1: our thoughts. I'm very excited. There's a lot of little
- 5:14Speaker 1: bits that we've seen that we're getting excited. Yeah, totally.
- 5:19Speaker 1: This is not a news and note, but a Hallmark
- 5:21Speaker 1: related question. Oh okay, are you feeling compelled to watch
- 5:24Speaker 1: Chesapeake Shores?
- 5:26Speaker 2: Holy crappolek, I have my note here. Chesapeake Shores commercials
- 5:30Speaker 2: look legit?
- 5:32Speaker 1: Yeah you mad? You made a post you posted in
- 5:36Speaker 1: our Palmark Facebook group and I was blown away.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Okay, so you probably don't watch the commercials, right, Well,
- 5:43Speaker 2: I've seen little bits.
- 5:44Speaker 1: It makes me want to watch.
- 5:46Speaker 2: There's something about the most recent commercials they show and
- 5:52Speaker 2: I can't remember his name. He's tweet Williams treat Williams
- 5:55Speaker 2: is in like at a attics anonymous meeting, and I'm.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Like, am I watching what?
- 6:02Speaker 2: It feels like soapy but kind of like real life
- 6:07Speaker 2: to you, like something we would have our parents would
- 6:10Speaker 2: have watched like weekly.
- 6:13Speaker 1: But it then't. It has like the daytime soapy feel
- 6:16Speaker 1: to it too. I don't know. I thought that show
- 6:19Speaker 1: got canceled. I think it did, and then they came
- 6:22Speaker 1: back to make season six.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Do I need to go back and like binge the
- 6:27Speaker 2: eighteen seasons of it or whatever it is. Every time
- 6:29Speaker 2: I think it's six. But every time this question comes up,
- 6:32Speaker 2: people come into our comment saying, yes, you should watch
- 6:34Speaker 2: that show, but that you should start from the beginning.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I might have to do. We need to do a
- 6:40Speaker 1: bonus series on Patreon recapping chess you maybe we do
- 6:48Speaker 1: way in Hallmark Friends, I have done one last comment
- 6:52Speaker 1: of the lovely Karen Pittman, who starred in Unthinkably Good Things,
- 6:55Speaker 1: the movie that we really liked, and after she tweeted us,
- 6:59Speaker 1: I did go back and re listen to the episode
- 7:01Speaker 1: just to make sure we weren't asshole and I was
- 7:03Speaker 1: comfortable with everything I had said about it. That was
- 7:05Speaker 1: a good one. There's not every episode I would want
- 7:08Speaker 1: to get a tweet from the actors. Yeah, totally. She tweeted,
- 7:13Speaker 1: I'm a fan of reviewers who take the story seriously
- 7:15Speaker 1: but not themselves. Thanks for this great review, Megan and Wendy.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I loved your take on the first offering on Hallmark Mahogany. Yay,
- 7:25Speaker 1: that's so lovely. First of all, that she even listened
- 7:28Speaker 1: right and then took the time to say thank you.
- 7:32Speaker 1: I know, I know it's lovely. It was super exciting,
- 7:35Speaker 1: and I was like, Meghan shared a tweet with me.
- 7:37Speaker 1: I was liked, damn super excited about it. Transitioning to
- 7:41Speaker 1: Wedding of a Lifetime Do you have a synopsis? Uh s?
- 7:45Speaker 2: Girl Back up here, A recently separated couple rekindles their
- 7:50Speaker 2: romance when they are inadvertently entered into a nationally televised
- 7:54Speaker 2: contest competing for an all expense paid wedding starring Jonathan
- 7:59Speaker 2: Bennett and Rock Do.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Your say first step for News and Notes, writer Greg
- 8:04Speaker 1: Baldwin is a brand new baby writer. I saw that
- 8:09Speaker 1: he's written two episodes of Supergirl and wedding of a
- 8:12Speaker 1: lifetime's Supergirl even on anymore, I don't know, but I
- 8:15Speaker 1: should clarify. I'm certain he's written more than that, but
- 8:18Speaker 1: he has to publish writing credits on IMTB. Well done,
- 8:24Speaker 1: well done, question Mark. I think I mean more to
- 8:30Speaker 1: have a writing credit on our major Yes, okay, I
- 8:36Speaker 1: just want to clarification on it. That's all. He's the
- 8:38Speaker 1: solo writer. Yeah. Do I think this was the greatest
- 8:43Speaker 1: movie ever? We're not there yet, but okay.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Spoiler alert, this was obviously not obviously I don't want
- 8:51Speaker 2: to be like that. But film didn't Vancouver, British Columbia
- 8:57Speaker 2: also film during July twenty twenty two, so I'm guessing
- 9:02Speaker 2: the fall vibes were all post production.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Well, most of the fall vibes were via b roll,
- 9:10Speaker 1: like oh yeahing shots of the town, and I don't
- 9:13Speaker 1: think any of those were in Vancouver. I was actually
- 9:15Speaker 1: very much wondering where they might be. They're like, let's
- 9:19Speaker 1: see what we have in the archives. Yeah, we can
- 9:21Speaker 1: use got it? Got it, Brooke, dear say I might.
- 9:26Speaker 1: I was thinking about it this morning. I think she
- 9:28Speaker 1: might be my favorite Hallmark leading Like why I just
- 9:32Speaker 1: like her my hair.
- 9:35Speaker 2: No, I think she feels relatable to you because she
- 9:37Speaker 2: has long hair for real.
- 9:39Speaker 1: That's why I was watching last night and a great smile.
- 9:41Speaker 1: And she's a great actress. Yeah, I like her. Look
- 9:45Speaker 1: I did you once dropped a Diva? No, oh, that's
- 9:49Speaker 1: a great show she is in. She's in that but indirectly,
- 9:54Speaker 1: M like, there's like a body switching situation. It's a
- 9:57Speaker 1: great it's a really cute show. Okay, Two and a
- 9:59Speaker 1: half Men. She was in that show. Yeah, once Ashton
- 10:03Speaker 1: Kutcher joined the cast, and then Royal Pains might be
- 10:06Speaker 1: her longest running role. We loved her in Royal Pains.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I just I'm a fan. Well you know that.
- 10:12Speaker 2: That's interesting because I was looking at her IMDb.
- 10:15Speaker 1: She has only.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Done one movie this year. I don't know if she's
- 10:19Speaker 2: going to be any Christmas movies. I bet she will,
- 10:23Speaker 2: but one movie. I'm like, what else is she doing?
- 10:25Speaker 2: Why aren't you working more?
- 10:27Speaker 1: I'm just curious. The fans want her. I think you're
- 10:31Speaker 1: the fan club president. I just like her. I think
- 10:34Speaker 1: she feels real natural. It's to me. I agree, I agree,
- 10:36Speaker 1: I adre she's fun to watch. Mm hmmm hmm. What
- 10:40Speaker 1: other news and notes. Do you have anything you know
- 10:42Speaker 1: Jonathan Bennett. Every time I read an article about him,
- 10:44Speaker 1: he's tagged as Jonathan Bennett of Me and Girls. So
- 10:46Speaker 1: I dig into his IMD because Mean Girls is a very,
- 10:49Speaker 1: very it's an older movie. There's been a lot of
- 10:52Speaker 1: time to have a new Jonathan Bennett of reference. Just
- 10:54Speaker 1: that shit last week. Well, and it's a great movie.
- 10:58Speaker 1: But I'm gonna be honest, he has so he's having
- 11:00Speaker 1: acting credits on IMDb. However, in all fairness, many of
- 11:04Speaker 1: them are unrecognizable to me. So I really wanted to
- 11:08Speaker 1: be like Jonathan Bennett of something of late. Yeah, honestly,
- 11:13Speaker 1: you know what my mind went to, er, I'm should
- 11:16Speaker 1: that's older than me Girls. I don't know why. I
- 11:19Speaker 1: was like, that's why I couldn me What is currently on?
- 11:25Speaker 1: I don't know. Of course, he started in Christmas House
- 11:27Speaker 1: one and two when he hasn't seen either of those.
- 11:29Speaker 1: I think they're great movies. He's great in them. Also,
- 11:32Speaker 1: I would just like to recommend his Instagram. He's a
- 11:35Speaker 1: prolific poster and he balances posting like behind the scenes
- 11:40Speaker 1: for his movies with uh personal shots. There's a ton
- 11:45Speaker 1: of photos of him and his husband. They're real cute together.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Just a just a recommendation, give it a look, all right,
- 11:52Speaker 1: are you ready for first impressions? I sure am. Let
- 11:54Speaker 1: me hear it. I want a pie dinner, me too.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I'm mean too. I love this scene. We gotta tell you.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I loved that seeing you me too? What yours? I
- 12:06Speaker 1: felt baited and switched and pissed about the premise of
- 12:09Speaker 1: this movie early on. Really talk to me. As we
- 12:14Speaker 1: all know, don't watch commercials, so I had only seen
- 12:17Speaker 1: like bits and pieces that looked like just them participating
- 12:20Speaker 1: in this fun wedding competition. I didn't realize that they
- 12:22Speaker 1: were participating as a couple who was no longer together.
- 12:26Speaker 1: I wasn't expecting that early heartbreak. And you know, I
- 12:29Speaker 1: don't love the we're gonna lie to our families and
- 12:32Speaker 1: there's gonna be all this subterfuge going on. So I
- 12:37Speaker 1: just don't like the I gotta run through town and
- 12:39Speaker 1: pretend like I still live there, nonsense, climb through the
- 12:42Speaker 1: window and get in my pajamas or whatever. Yeah, you
- 12:47Speaker 1: know what I call that? Hygiens? Oh I got that.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I got that word written more than once.
- 12:52Speaker 2: Okay, all right, Uh let's talk about what we liked
- 12:56Speaker 2: about this movie.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Uh.
- 12:59Speaker 2: First, that for me, I very much enjoyed Brooke and
- 13:02Speaker 2: Jonathan together. But mister Bennett came to play I thought
- 13:06Speaker 2: he was so great with the physical comedy in this movie.
- 13:10Speaker 1: They were both great.
- 13:11Speaker 2: They had a couple scenes where they were when they
- 13:13Speaker 2: were trying to escape out.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Of the hotel that was very funny.
- 13:16Speaker 2: But when Jonathan Bennet was trying to squeeze between like
- 13:20Speaker 2: a column and the wall, He's like eh, and he
- 13:22Speaker 2: couldn't fit. I just thought it was hilarious. On the
- 13:25Speaker 2: flip side, yeah, I really enjoyed the tender heart moments
- 13:29Speaker 2: that these two had together.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Yes, I liked them very much in it.
- 13:33Speaker 2: Did I think they had like super wow chemistry? No,
- 13:37Speaker 2: But I thought they were good actors together.
- 13:41Speaker 1: I agree. I agree with all of that. In the
- 13:45Speaker 1: opening scenes, I thought there was excellent tension between the
- 13:48Speaker 1: two of them in the restaurant, on their walk home,
- 13:51Speaker 1: in their early like morning and after work interactions. I
- 13:55Speaker 1: thought they did such a good job of selling I
- 13:58Speaker 1: was like, I believe this, this is a couple who
- 14:00Speaker 1: inter rut right. So let me just say I really
- 14:05Speaker 1: liked this whole like, I didn't see that coming me. Well,
- 14:10Speaker 1: I mean it was like.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Red flags when they were like, we're been together for
- 14:13Speaker 2: ten years and I was like what. And then the
- 14:16Speaker 2: scene when we were walking home and he's like, I'm
- 14:18Speaker 2: gonna sleep at the shop tonight or whatever, and I
- 14:21Speaker 2: was like, Oh, this is a relationship that has really
- 14:24Speaker 2: gone stale, and it.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Felt very like relatable.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Yes, And I was like, didn't see that twist coming, yeah,
- 14:33Speaker 2: because I thought I was going to be like about
- 14:35Speaker 2: like they just got engaged and they were trying to
- 14:38Speaker 2: get into it whatever, you know.
- 14:40Speaker 1: So I actually like that twist. So I will say
- 14:44Speaker 1: that I liked that play on it. Also. I think
- 14:47Speaker 1: it freshens it a little bit. What I didn't like
- 14:50Speaker 1: when I talk about that in my first impression is
- 14:53Speaker 1: that it immediately meant we were going to Hyjiink's land.
- 14:56Speaker 1: You know. I liked, this relationship has gone stay. I
- 15:00Speaker 1: think it could have very easily been we've been married
- 15:02Speaker 1: for ten years and we're in this place. Yeah, but
- 15:04Speaker 1: then what kind of competitions are we gonna do? No,
- 15:06Speaker 1: I understand, you know, yeah, but that it didn't feel
- 15:10Speaker 1: far fetched to me that they could have gotten to
- 15:12Speaker 1: this place right. And also I think there it very
- 15:15Speaker 1: easily could say like how did they let ten years
- 15:18Speaker 1: go by? But life happens well, and they addressed that.
- 15:20Speaker 2: I know there was like illness and injury and all
- 15:24Speaker 2: kinds of like stuff.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Had happened once you're just in this place of just living.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we should start planning a wedding is not
- 15:30Speaker 1: really right.
- 15:31Speaker 2: I was actually kind of surprised for Hamemark that they
- 15:34Speaker 2: had these two living together, you know, they it's kind
- 15:37Speaker 2: of funny. So on one hand, they have these two
- 15:40Speaker 2: living together like and not married whatever, Fine.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I don't care. I lived with my husband before I
- 15:45Speaker 1: got married. But then on the other.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Side, like they didn't show them like kissing at all,
- 15:49Speaker 2: and they did have like these weird like almost kisses
- 15:53Speaker 2: where it's like you've been together ten years, Like there
- 15:55Speaker 2: shouldn't be like this, we're.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Gonna kiss, but we're not going to kiss that. I
- 15:59Speaker 1: don't know. When they walked home, I thought it was
- 16:01Speaker 1: very weird, even though they weren't going to sleep in
- 16:03Speaker 1: the same house, so they kind of just went like
- 16:04Speaker 1: get bye. Yeah. In their early breakup scene when they're
- 16:09Speaker 1: like this isn't working, I got so emotional. Did you,
- 16:13Speaker 1: Jonathan goes, can I have a hug? And she says yes,
- 16:15Speaker 1: and they're both crying. I really believed them. I thought
- 16:18Speaker 1: they brought their a game in that moment. I agree.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I thought it was good.
- 16:23Speaker 2: But I was like it was just so adult like
- 16:28Speaker 2: to me, like, I don't know, something's got like trigger it,
- 16:31Speaker 2: Like do you can you imagine just being Let's just
- 16:34Speaker 2: say hypothetically, you're with your spouse. You've guys have been
- 16:38Speaker 2: together a lot of years and it's not working anymore.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Does he just come home and you go, this isn't
- 16:44Speaker 2: working anymore?
- 16:46Speaker 1: Well, I think what makes it easier is they're not married,
- 16:49Speaker 1: so like the breakup is easier on paper.
- 16:52Speaker 2: Yeah, but they obviously are in a home together. I
- 16:55Speaker 2: know they are a family clearly.
- 16:57Speaker 1: I mean from the very beginning, there was not a
- 16:59Speaker 1: happy moment between these two. They had just gotten very stale.
- 17:03Speaker 1: I don't know, it was believable to me, like this
- 17:05Speaker 1: isn't working. I think there should have been maybe a
- 17:09Speaker 1: step between this isn't working and we're over, and it
- 17:13Speaker 1: should have been like is there a reconnection there? Right?
- 17:16Speaker 1: I wasn't that surprised that it was this isn't working
- 17:19Speaker 1: I just thought like.
- 17:21Speaker 2: There needed to be like a trigger, Like there was
- 17:25Speaker 2: what was like the catalyst for her to be like
- 17:29Speaker 2: this isn't working.
- 17:30Speaker 1: But I think it was everything and she's like, oh,
- 17:31Speaker 1: it's our tenth anniversary. But when we got engaged and
- 17:33Speaker 1: we don't even care, it's you know, like we come
- 17:36Speaker 1: from work and we go our separate ways, and I
- 17:38Speaker 1: just think it was all those things.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Added up and try to be married for twenty one years,
- 17:42Speaker 2: Like that's a I get it.
- 17:43Speaker 1: But I just you know, at some point you're like, Wow,
- 17:46Speaker 1: this is not working for me anymore. I don't think
- 17:49Speaker 1: every relationship ends with the bang. Okay, that's probably fair.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Anything else you liked? Yes, one last thing, no two? No, sorry,
- 18:00Speaker 1: one last thing, no two?
- 18:04Speaker 2: You guys, I have notes, but I'm like, did I
- 18:07Speaker 2: already mention this?
- 18:08Speaker 1: Okay? I love their actual wedding ceremony on the hilltop
- 18:11Speaker 1: at the very end.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Yeah, beautiful. They both looked gorgeous. It was a gorgeous setting.
- 18:16Speaker 2: It was like my dream wedding because there's just like
- 18:19Speaker 2: a handful of people there who really love you.
- 18:22Speaker 1: As a couple. It was just beautiful.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Yes, I loved it so very much. What would have
- 18:26Speaker 2: mait it great if there were something dogs there.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Yes, you know, something like that. I just loved it.
- 18:32Speaker 1: We did.
- 18:33Speaker 2: You did mention that you thought the Fall scapes were
- 18:37Speaker 2: b roll. I was happy that we finally got a
- 18:40Speaker 2: Fall looking movie, even though.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I had like zero to do with the season. Like
- 18:46Speaker 1: the movie right, the plot wasn't the plot had nothing
- 18:49Speaker 1: to do with Fall. No, I yes, agree on both
- 18:51Speaker 1: counts what we wished for mm hmm. This goes back
- 18:54Speaker 1: to an earlier comment you made. I thought Jonathan and
- 18:57Speaker 1: Brooke did a fantastic job with all of the hyjiin
- 19:01Speaker 1: scene nonsense that they had to do on the show.
- 19:04Speaker 1: They sold it. Nevertheless, lots of hyjiin see nonsense. My
- 19:09Speaker 1: number one pet peeve in a Hallmark movie is hyjiins.
- 19:12Speaker 1: I especially hate the music that is played behind this
- 19:15Speaker 1: the scene. It's like, this is hijink. We're letting you know.
- 19:21Speaker 1: This is is silly. This is silly.
- 19:23Speaker 2: And I thought this movie leaned too heavily on the silliness.
- 19:28Speaker 2: And maybe a lot of people liked it IMDb reviews
- 19:32Speaker 2: like liked all that stuff. I think I'm just no
- 19:34Speaker 2: fun because I was like skip skip skip skip, don't
- 19:38Speaker 2: want to watch this skip skip I hear you, so, Yeah,
- 19:42Speaker 2: I skipped through a lot.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Of the competitive scenes. I thought the storyline with the
- 19:46Speaker 1: bitchy city couple wasn't brought to fruition mm hmm. She
- 19:51Speaker 1: clearly had it out for Jake and Darby, but she
- 19:54Speaker 1: doesn't do anything about it other than just sneer at them.
- 19:57Speaker 1: And I felt like we were building to something where
- 19:59Speaker 1: she it's like gonna go to the producers about them.
- 20:03Speaker 1: And I don't know because there's one scene where Darby's
- 20:05Speaker 1: talking to her mom and her mom is giving her
- 20:08Speaker 1: advice and the city girls like leaning in, like all
- 20:11Speaker 1: but cupping her hand to her ears to wear carefully
- 20:14Speaker 1: and she like raises an eyebrow, but it never goes anywhere,
- 20:17Speaker 1: And I don't know if that's a scene that was cut.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Yeah maybe, but I felt like, I mean, I hated them.
- 20:22Speaker 1: They did a real good job of playing unlikable people,
- 20:25Speaker 1: which was their role, just not like and then it
- 20:28Speaker 1: went nowhere.
- 20:29Speaker 2: To further ad I thought this movie needed less competition scenes.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I thought most of the scenes were over the top
- 20:38Speaker 2: and unwatchable.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Oh inspired, okay, you know, like them smacking each other
- 20:43Speaker 1: with an inflatable pole into a phone pit.
- 20:46Speaker 2: No, I don't like any of that stuff, but I
- 20:50Speaker 2: think if you're gonna do it, do it well. I
- 20:53Speaker 2: thought the production of these competitions was too simplified. Here
- 20:58Speaker 2: you have eighteen people on a tiny little stage trying
- 21:01Speaker 2: to have an egg race or whatever.
- 21:06Speaker 1: If you're gonna do it, do it. Yeah. I'm not
- 21:08Speaker 1: expecting Survivor esque competitions, like they don't have a budget,
- 21:13Speaker 1: I'm sure, but it just was like and then all.
- 21:19Speaker 2: This is happening on a morning news show?
- 21:22Speaker 1: Yeah, what am I watching?
- 21:24Speaker 2: Like?
- 21:25Speaker 1: Is it? Tell me?
- 21:26Speaker 2: Is the morning news show like Good Morning America when
- 21:28Speaker 2: there's actual like news segments cut in between these things?
- 21:32Speaker 2: Or am I watching like Regis and Kelli or whatever
- 21:36Speaker 2: that show is called now where it's like a whole
- 21:39Speaker 2: episode could be dedicated to this.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Uh huh, what am I watching? You tell me? I
- 21:44Speaker 1: felt like it was like the Today Show. I feel
- 21:46Speaker 1: like the Today Show could easily have done this wedding
- 21:48Speaker 1: of a lifetime nonsense, and I feel like they have
- 21:50Speaker 1: done where you like, vote on what the couple gets,
- 21:53Speaker 1: but it's not this. You end up with an ugly wedding.
- 21:56Speaker 1: It's like the couple chooses their top two or three
- 21:58Speaker 1: things and then people get to vote, so the couple's
- 22:01Speaker 1: going to be happy regardless. I felt like it was
- 22:06Speaker 1: a Today Show style show, okay, but we just never
- 22:09Speaker 1: got the Newsy se. It just like was so much.
- 22:12Speaker 2: It was like so too much, Like did it take
- 22:16Speaker 2: over a week? Was this like a week timespan? I look,
- 22:19Speaker 2: these are details that don't matter to the movie, I know,
- 22:23Speaker 2: but I'm just hung up in them.
- 22:24Speaker 1: Okay, I think they.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Should have included a same same sex couple me too,
- 22:28Speaker 2: Like hello, I really despised the morning show hosts.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, yes, yes, I just.
- 22:37Speaker 2: I am so tired of like passive aggressive comments, especially
- 22:41Speaker 2: like husband or I'm sorry wife to husband about like
- 22:45Speaker 2: what a schmucky is or whatever.
- 22:46Speaker 1: It just gets so old and funny. It is not funny.
- 22:50Speaker 1: I used to remember that show Everybody Loves Raymond. They
- 22:53Speaker 1: used to do that all the time on that show.
- 22:55Speaker 1: I couldn't like stand that show. I did not understand
- 22:57Speaker 1: it's appeal.
- 22:58Speaker 2: I thought it was very funny, but she hated him,
- 23:01Speaker 2: Like I just I could never be in a relationship
- 23:04Speaker 2: with my spouse who like made comments that were so
- 23:09Speaker 2: disrespectful like, I just hated it.
- 23:11Speaker 1: And they seem to play it for comedy when it's
- 23:14Speaker 1: the woman hating the man, but it's like borderline abuse
- 23:17Speaker 1: if it's the other way around, and I feel like
- 23:20Speaker 1: it's when women do it too totally. Nobody wants to
- 23:23Speaker 1: listen to that. I know. I agree, like, Oh, my
- 23:25Speaker 1: husband's such a dope, then why are you married to him?
- 23:28Speaker 1: I saw this tweet the other day that was like,
- 23:29Speaker 1: so many of you people are in relationship with people
- 23:31Speaker 1: you wouldn't even be friends with, Like what is happening?
- 23:34Speaker 1: And I was like that that breaks it down completely,
- 23:37Speaker 1: Like you don't actually like this person. If there's such
- 23:40Speaker 1: a dope, it's not working for us. Yeah, that's the breakup.
- 23:44Speaker 1: I saw a really funny tweet about the morning show hosts.
- 23:49Speaker 1: They tweeted a gift of Elizabeth Banks and John Michael
- 23:52Speaker 1: Higgins and pitch perfect when they're judging, like they have
- 23:56Speaker 1: this real antagonistic relationshipah, And I was like, that is
- 23:59Speaker 1: really fun because those two like hated each other, right,
- 24:02Speaker 1: I used to hate each other. But John Michael Higgins
- 24:06Speaker 1: is kind of like the clueless, like just makes ridiculous,
- 24:09Speaker 1: terrible misogynistic comments. The entire time, and she's like, wow,
- 24:14Speaker 1: you are a misogynist at her.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Like, So that's interesting because that is like I enjoy
- 24:21Speaker 2: watching that this I did not.
- 24:22Speaker 1: But they're not in a relationship, Like it's okay for
- 24:25Speaker 1: these two pitch perfect judges to hate each other because
- 24:27Speaker 1: they're not going home and pretending like they've got a
- 24:30Speaker 1: happy family. Yeah, exactly, all right, did you see that
- 24:34Speaker 1: I have? I have?
- 24:35Speaker 2: They're mostly complaints really. When they're at their beautiful wedding,
- 24:40Speaker 2: Jake pulls out two plane tickets from his jacket to
- 24:43Speaker 2: tell us now bride that they're going to New York
- 24:47Speaker 2: or whatever. It almost looked like product placement, but it
- 24:50Speaker 2: obviously wasn't you know what I mean. It just was
- 24:53Speaker 2: so weird, like this tight shot on these plane, these
- 24:57Speaker 2: two plane tickets.
- 24:58Speaker 1: I'm like, what is the point of I thought that
- 25:01Speaker 1: was a really weird scene all together, because he was like,
- 25:06Speaker 1: we're going to go to New York and then I
- 25:07Speaker 1: don't remember what she said she was going to do.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Oh she had had some kind of contact for his
- 25:13Speaker 1: ski school. I'm like, yeah, at your wedding, you couldn't
- 25:15Speaker 1: have talked about this last night. It was way weird.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Like we could have had a separate conversation the night before.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Cut in that scene where they're like, Okay, now we're
- 25:27Speaker 1: back together, we're happy, and these are the things we're
- 25:30Speaker 1: going to do to make our lives together better and
- 25:33Speaker 1: appreciate each other. I thought it was weird. Agree, I thought.
- 25:37Speaker 2: It was weird too, And still don't really understand. Are
- 25:41Speaker 2: they moving to New York or are they staying there
- 25:44Speaker 2: for ski school or ski school happening in New York?
- 25:47Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't either.
- 25:48Speaker 2: And she's going to be an influencer in New York.
- 25:51Speaker 2: She didn't do that in whatever small town she lives in,
- 25:54Speaker 2: because that's what she was getting hired for, right, I
- 25:56Speaker 2: don't science influking.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Yeah, she got her kitchen backdrop. She can take it anywhere, dude. Yeah.
- 26:03Speaker 2: And first of all, I left out loud when it ruffled.
- 26:08Speaker 2: That's the only stuff that we would laugh about, right.
- 26:10Speaker 2: And then she's like, I don't have thirty followers. I
- 26:12Speaker 2: was like, oh, what I would give for thirty followers away?
- 26:14Speaker 2: If I had an Instagram live?
- 26:16Speaker 1: Oh live? Yeah? Yeah. Well but then there was a
- 26:18Speaker 1: funny that's a funny did you see that moment? Because
- 26:20Speaker 1: she goes and see you next time, and like her
- 26:22Speaker 1: friend is walking and she's like sorry, sorry, sorry, and
- 26:24Speaker 1: she's still walking, walking, walking on and the camera is
- 26:26Speaker 1: still not off, but they're pretending like it's over. Yeah, yeah,
- 26:31Speaker 1: I know.
- 26:31Speaker 2: It just was like, yes, details that probably you and
- 26:37Speaker 2: I would don't even care about.
- 26:40Speaker 1: Did Jake really need to sleep in a display tint
- 26:43Speaker 1: in his store? I went together for ten years. Their
- 26:45Speaker 1: breakup was very amicable. He couldn't have slept on the
- 26:48Speaker 1: couch in their home until he found a place to go. Now,
- 26:51Speaker 1: I know when he says I'm going to sleep at
- 26:52Speaker 1: the store, I thought he had a pull out couch
- 26:54Speaker 1: in his office. Uh huh, I'm gonna pop a tent
- 26:57Speaker 1: in the display and sleep in there. It's stupid, real dumb.
- 27:01Speaker 2: I mean, it wasn't even like they're a fighting. There
- 27:03Speaker 2: are people who are like fully separated that live in
- 27:05Speaker 2: the same home forever because it's too expensive to get
- 27:08Speaker 2: divorced or move or whatever, or.
- 27:10Speaker 1: Yeah, you need time to find a place.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Finally, why if the audience voted at the end about
- 27:16Speaker 2: like her dress, why would they pick that dress?
- 27:19Speaker 1: Why would you pick a beautiful why would you pick
- 27:22Speaker 1: any bride to wear like a hideous dress? Was it couture?
- 27:26Speaker 1: Was it supposed to be? I thought it was because
- 27:28Speaker 1: he said it was like from the runway.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Oh whatever, her hair and these pigtails. I just hated
- 27:33Speaker 2: the whole look altogether. So glad that that didn't work out.
- 27:37Speaker 2: And then they show this scene where Jake like walks
- 27:41Speaker 2: into what's going to be their wedding ceremony and you
- 27:44Speaker 2: never see what he sees. He's just like freaking out
- 27:47Speaker 2: by like what he's looking at.
- 27:48Speaker 1: I can kind of see like lights that are like bright.
- 27:50Speaker 1: How could it have been so bad? Like what?
- 27:54Speaker 2: What would have made him turn and run out? That's
- 27:58Speaker 2: what the audience would have voted on dumb bait and switch.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I agree. What did you rate this movie two and
- 28:05Speaker 1: a half stars? Well? I gave it for what after
- 28:08Speaker 1: all that, I really liked it. That doesn't make any sense.
- 28:13Speaker 1: I've got lots of complaints, but felt like it was
- 28:14Speaker 1: super enjoyable to watch. It's not a five, it's a beat.
- 28:19Speaker 1: I really liked watching. It was a real cute movie.
- 28:24Speaker 1: I like them. Okay, thank you so much for listening
- 28:27Speaker 1: to this episode of Girls Gone Homework When he's gonna
- 28:29Speaker 1: need a few minutes to recover from that. Make sure
- 28:32Speaker 1: you come back next week, where we will be discussing
- 28:34Speaker 1: fly away with me? Is that all we're doing? Is
- 28:38Speaker 1: there something on movies and mysteries that we can watch instead?
- 28:42Speaker 1: My friend, your only option next week is fly away
- 28:46Speaker 1: with me? All right? Fly Away with me it is?
