Speaker 3: She joins us this morning the part of our store studio.
3:06
Speaker 3: Deb Good morning, welcome to the show.
3:07
Speaker 6: Good morning, thanks for having me, thank you.
3:09
Speaker 3: For being here. Big announcement, big now see yesterday. Now
3:12
Speaker 3: we've written about it, talked about it on the air,
3:14
Speaker 3: But for those who may have missed it from your office,
3:16
Speaker 3: what was the big announcement yesterday?
3:18
Speaker 6: Dev We have created and implemented what we have coined
3:22
Speaker 6: the Victim's Voice initiative, Voice being an acronym for a
3:27
Speaker 6: violent offender initiative for community empowerment. And it is a
3:32
Speaker 6: program that we have designed that is going to hold
3:35
Speaker 6: the most violent offenders in our community accountable. And it's
3:38
Speaker 6: going to protect our children, our citizens, and the victims
3:41
Speaker 6: of crime. And so you know I said yesterday, for
3:47
Speaker 6: far too long, violent gun crime, violent sexual crimes, and
3:51
Speaker 6: violent crimes have been against children have been treated just
3:54
Speaker 6: like every other crime. And we can't treat those cases
3:58
Speaker 6: the same. And so I have implemented certain policies within
4:03
Speaker 6: the office and made certain changes that are going to
4:06
Speaker 6: allow us to handle those types of crimes a little differently.
4:12
Speaker 3: Get out of your system. I got the same thing
4:15
Speaker 3: going on. I know exactly what you're talking about.
4:17
Speaker 6: So part of the program is that we are no
4:20
Speaker 6: longer going to be agreeing to certain things, and those
4:23
Speaker 6: things being we are no longer going to be agreeing
4:26
Speaker 6: to bond reductions or personal recognizance bonds for individuals who
4:31
Speaker 6: charge who are charged with those types of crime crimes,
4:35
Speaker 6: violent gun crimes, violent sexual crimes, violent crimes against children.
4:39
Speaker 6: We are also no longer going to allow a routine
4:42
Speaker 6: release to drug treatment. That's one thing we struggle as
4:45
Speaker 6: prosecutors to determine, you know, who are the right candidates
4:48
Speaker 6: for drug drug treatment and who really needs drug treatment.
4:52
Speaker 3: Or who wants it.
4:54
Speaker 6: Exactly who wants it or you know, do they want
4:56
Speaker 6: drug treatment or do they just want out of jail.
4:59
Speaker 6: And so that's one of the things that we struggle
5:01
Speaker 6: with in making those decisions. But ultimately, when we step
5:06
Speaker 6: back and we look at the bigger picture, we should
5:09
Speaker 6: not be releasing these individuals who are charged with these
5:12
Speaker 6: types of crimes out into society. We are dealing again
5:18
Speaker 6: with violent gun crimes, violent sex crimes, violent crimes against children,
5:22
Speaker 6: and if we're not going to protect them, then who
5:25
Speaker 6: is The third and probably biggest prong to this is
5:31
Speaker 6: that we are no longer going to be pleading felony
5:34
Speaker 6: charges down to misdemeanors on those types of cases. You know,
5:40
Speaker 6: I have created a different sort of chain of command
5:45
Speaker 6: in the office. We created five new supervisory positions that
5:51
Speaker 6: I have selected people who are entrusted with certain things,
5:57
Speaker 6: and those things being assisting an identifying resources that are
6:01
Speaker 6: available to us, learning the attorneys and their needs, their characteristics,
6:07
Speaker 6: and then identify training and what training is available and
6:11
Speaker 6: what training those individuals need. You know, I said when
6:14
Speaker 6: I started this thing, changes need to be made, and
6:18
Speaker 6: training was one of those big things. And I think
6:20
Speaker 6: this is going to allow a mentorship. It's going to
6:23
Speaker 6: allow some more senior attorneys to come in and set
6:27
Speaker 6: that example and frankly show these younger attorneys how this
6:31
Speaker 6: job is done well and how it's done right. And
6:35
Speaker 6: so those more senior attorneys that I have placed in
6:39
Speaker 6: those five section chief positions are going to help us
6:45
Speaker 6: by going over things with the younger attorneys, particularly plea offers,
6:49
Speaker 6: all plea offers that go out of my office will
6:51
Speaker 6: now be reviewed by a Section chief to ensure you know,
6:55
Speaker 6: we're getting the best result in each case. We're getting
6:59
Speaker 6: there just reasonable outcomes, and that those outcomes have been
7:03
Speaker 6: communicated to the victims and to the police officers involved.
7:08
Speaker 6: I think that will ensure that we're doing our job
7:10
Speaker 6: and keeping people safe.
7:12
Speaker 3: Talking to with Devora Russick again, prosecutor here in kanawccount

7:35
Speaker 3: in and you make all of these changes or these
7:38
Speaker 3: proposed changes or whatever without a lot of work going
7:40
Speaker 3: on behind the scenes. It must have been a lot
7:43
Speaker 3: to put all this together.
7:44
Speaker 7: It was.
7:45
Speaker 6: It was a lot. But you know again, when I
7:48
Speaker 6: started this, I told you I had changes coming, I
7:50
Speaker 6: had plans the office. There's such a great group of
7:56
Speaker 6: hard working people that really really care about what we're doing.
8:02
Speaker 6: And to be able to have those people in my
8:06
Speaker 6: corner is great because I have received so much support
8:09
Speaker 6: with this thing, not only in the office, but with
8:13
Speaker 6: other law enforcement agencies, our community partners, some of the
8:16
Speaker 6: victim's advocacy groups. I mean, I have really been blessed
8:21
Speaker 6: to have received the welcome that I had when I
8:25
Speaker 6: started this thing, and I've had a lot of help
8:27
Speaker 6: getting the Victim's voice up and running, and you know,
8:31
Speaker 6: just making sure we're doing the right thing every day.
8:35
Speaker 7: I had a.
8:38
Speaker 3: Had a text here to the show, and it says, well,
8:40
Speaker 3: prosecute rustnik, tell us all the cases that you plea
8:43
Speaker 3: bargain and how they would now be changed or barred
8:45
Speaker 3: by the new policy.
8:48
Speaker 6: So if we deal with approximately twenty six thousand cases
8:51
Speaker 6: a year, so I can't say how we're handling every
8:55
Speaker 6: single case, absolutely yeah, But what I can say is
8:57
Speaker 6: that throughout my time at the Prosecutor's Office, I would
9:00
Speaker 6: see things and I would think, if I were the boss,
9:03
Speaker 6: I would I want to change that. And so when
9:07
Speaker 6: I was in Circuit court, assigned to a circuit court judge,
9:11
Speaker 6: day in, day out, I practiced what I am preaching
9:14
Speaker 6: right now, and I was able to see changes be made,
9:17
Speaker 6: and those changes were my being harsher on bond reductions,
9:22
Speaker 6: on plea offers. You know, we have to take into
9:26
Speaker 6: account a variety of factors when making a plea offer,
9:29
Speaker 6: but one of those things is the nature of the charge.
9:33
Speaker 6: And when we are dealing with a crime involving a victim,
9:36
Speaker 6: we certainly need to be reaching out to that victim
9:38
Speaker 6: and getting that victim's input and getting an idea of
9:43
Speaker 6: what justice looks like for that person, because it looks
9:45
Speaker 6: different for every person.
9:47
Speaker 3: Indeed, it does. What is the timeline here? I mean,
9:50
Speaker 3: are we talking immediately?
9:51
Speaker 5: Is it go take?
9:52
Speaker 3: This going to be this is a lot of This
9:53
Speaker 3: is a heavy lift, as they say, it's gonna take
9:55
Speaker 3: some time to get this in. What's the timeline here?
9:57
Speaker 6: You know it is, it is a heavy lift. We
10:00
Speaker 6: implemented the changes effective yesterday. So these are policies that
10:04
Speaker 6: are in place now. These are things that effective yesterday,
10:09
Speaker 6: my attorneys will no longer be doing now. Of course,
10:11
Speaker 6: we are going to have some growing pains. We are
10:14
Speaker 6: going to have some plea offers and some things that
10:17
Speaker 6: will be left out there from you know prior to
10:21
Speaker 6: implementing this policy, But once all of that gets smoothed
10:25
Speaker 6: out and we really are in full transition to this thing,
10:28
Speaker 6: I think we're going to see some big changes.
10:30
Speaker 3: And you know, they're based on the pictures that I
10:32
Speaker 3: saw yesterday from the press conference, and of course we
10:35
Speaker 3: covered it, as did all the meeting in the area.
10:37
Speaker 3: You obviously have a lot of people on board with
10:39
Speaker 3: these changes, because I saw everybody from the County Commission
10:42
Speaker 3: to police agencies, certainly those are your office. I mean
10:45
Speaker 3: there's a lot of people who jumped on board on
10:47
Speaker 3: this thing.
10:48
Speaker 6: Absolutely absolutely. When we start talking about how the office
10:53
Speaker 6: is handling cases and you know, again what justice looks
10:58
Speaker 6: like to different individuals, people care about that, and believe
11:03
Speaker 6: it or not, people care about what happens in this community,
11:06
Speaker 6: and I care about what those people think. So we
11:10
Speaker 6: are making sure we're doing what we promised the public
11:13
Speaker 6: we would do and frankly, what we took an oath
11:15
Speaker 6: of office to do.
11:17
Speaker 3: I saw one of the comments, I think it was
11:18
Speaker 3: on our news story when it was it was posted
11:20
Speaker 3: on x formerly known as Twitter, that somebody said like
11:24
Speaker 3: something to the effect of why did it take this long?
11:28
Speaker 3: I mean, is there any comment. I know you just
11:30
Speaker 3: got there, so we can't blame you, but I mean, overall,
11:34
Speaker 3: you know, why did it take this long for this
11:35
Speaker 3: sort of thing to happen?
11:36
Speaker 6: You know, that's something that's extremely difficult for me to
11:39
Speaker 6: answer for. I don't know. But what I do know
11:44
Speaker 6: is that once we realized there was a problem, and
11:48
Speaker 6: once I had the ability to change it, I certainly did.
11:54
Speaker 3: And you know, you hear then and we'll let you
11:55
Speaker 3: go on this. When we hear this from the public
11:57
Speaker 3: all the time, and it doesn't matter whether it's Canan
11:59
Speaker 3: County or the brad, I mean, people will say, well,
12:01
Speaker 3: I can't believe they let them go. They let them go,
12:04
Speaker 3: and I don't think sometimes and this is kind of
12:06
Speaker 3: not necessarily aim directly at a prosecutor, but it's the
12:10
Speaker 3: same when I talk to magistrates and things of that,
12:12
Speaker 3: and sometimes you know, there are guidelines that have to
12:16
Speaker 3: have to be followed, and sometimes it's not the corrupt
12:19
Speaker 3: quote unquote corupt legal system, it's just the law. But
12:22
Speaker 3: it sounds like for what I understand is that you
12:25
Speaker 3: are your office is now moving towards to doing basically
12:30
Speaker 3: all you can exactly, you.
12:32
Speaker 6: Know, if we don't do what we can, then why
12:34
Speaker 6: are we doing anything? You know, we we definitely want
12:38
Speaker 6: to do everything in our power to make sure that
12:41
Speaker 6: we're stepping up to the plate and giving the courts
12:45
Speaker 6: and the juries the best cases that we can put
12:48
Speaker 6: on because you know, ultimately we are bound by the
12:51
Speaker 6: law and we have very strict rules that we have
12:54
Speaker 6: to follow, and it doesn't always work out the way
12:57
Speaker 6: that the public would hope that it would have, frankly
12:59
Speaker 6: the way that.
13:00
Speaker 3: We would have surely, Yeah, it happens. Deb I appreciate

Speaker 3: has been to both, says a Texter textra says, well,
17:18
Speaker 3: this is a news story breaking inflation soars twenty point
17:21
Speaker 3: two percent of Biden here took off his new report reveals,
17:24
Speaker 3: says a Texter text says, Dave, are we still going
17:30
Speaker 3: to do the good buddy and Richmond's system in the
17:32
Speaker 3: courts when a crime is committed? Trump would be an
17:35
Speaker 3: example of that. I said, you know, here's the thing
17:38
Speaker 3: about who in the hell said a single thing about
17:41
Speaker 3: Donald Trump during that interview. I mean seriously, every time,
17:47
Speaker 3: and I appreciate my Texters that I love them all.
17:49
Speaker 3: I want to kill them sometimes, But every time I
17:51
Speaker 3: have any Republican on, somebody has to bring up Donald Trump.
17:55
Speaker 3: And it doesn't matter every time I whether it's Greg Thomas,
17:58
Speaker 3: whether it's anybody. By the way, deb Bruh, you know,
18:01
Speaker 3: I never said anything about her political affiliation. I've never
18:04
Speaker 3: asked her because it's not important. But every time, every
18:08
Speaker 3: time that we have a Republican on, somebody's got to
18:12
Speaker 3: bring up Donald Trump. Here's what the Texters need to understand. Okay,
18:16
Speaker 3: it's not all about the guy at the top. It's
18:19
Speaker 3: really really not whether it's Biden or whether it's Harris
18:22
Speaker 3: or whatever. It's just so freaking frustrating sometimes that anytime
18:27
Speaker 3: we try to talk about anything going on like this,
18:29
Speaker 3: somebody has what does she think about Trump? What does
18:32
Speaker 3: he think about Biden? Who the hell cares? It's not
18:35
Speaker 3: about the national it's the local stuff, all right. Rant over.
18:40
Speaker 3: It's one of these signature events here at the Radio Ranch.
18:43
Speaker 3: For seventeen years we've been doing this. This is Lango Law,
18:46
Speaker 3: one of the seven three of the beat Backpack Attack.
18:48
Speaker 3: It happens today at our place eleven eleven Virginia Street
18:51
Speaker 3: easton Charleston. Lnup is at three and the distribution starts
18:55
Speaker 3: at four o'clock. What he would's the man behind the
18:57
Speaker 3: whole thing? What he is packing backpacks? I understand hand
19:00
Speaker 3: at the time, Dale Cooper. It just happened to be
19:03
Speaker 3: producing our show today. I'll get the Coop in whether
19:05
Speaker 3: this was one of the part of what he was
19:06
Speaker 3: will be played by Dale Cooper.
19:09
Speaker 10: Man, don't put that on me now, I don't. I
19:11
Speaker 10: don't have that much energy when I first wake up
19:13
Speaker 10: in the morning. There's no way. But yeah, the Backpacked Attack.
19:16
Speaker 10: They see this is my fourteenth year back and what
19:18
Speaker 10: is this the annual backpack Pick seventeen seventeen. So this
19:21
Speaker 10: was still this was going on when I first came
19:22
Speaker 10: back to Charleston, and it blew me away the first
19:25
Speaker 10: time that I saw it. It was just an incredible,
19:28
Speaker 10: an incredible event. And things have changed in the last
19:30
Speaker 10: in the last fifteen years as far as the things
19:32
Speaker 10: that we give in these backpacks. We've listened to the
19:36
Speaker 10: community and to the folks that are getting the backpacks
19:38
Speaker 10: and We've changed up the ingredients just a little bit.
19:41
Speaker 7: You know.
19:41
Speaker 10: We used to focus on the traditional school items, you know,
19:44
Speaker 10: like the trapper keepers for folks that remember those. You know,
19:47
Speaker 10: there are bags with pens and papers and erasers and stuff,
19:49
Speaker 10: and we're not doing that anymore. This is a this
19:51
Speaker 10: is a useful backpack full of stuff like I think
19:55
Speaker 10: like a first aid kits, the most like the most
19:58
Speaker 10: like old school thing that's in there.
19:59
Speaker 5: There's a lot of gift card and.
20:00
Speaker 10: Stuff for school water bottles in the past, because everybody
20:03
Speaker 10: takes water bottles around with him anymore.
20:05
Speaker 5: They have to anyway. Yeah, I think so.
20:06
Speaker 10: So this is very useful and it's uh and it's
20:09
Speaker 10: something that is going to help the community. This is
20:11
Speaker 10: a huge issue for Woody. He's always trying to make
20:14
Speaker 10: inroads with the community, give folks school school supplies that
20:16
Speaker 10: maybe can't always afford the school supplies, or make it
20:18
Speaker 10: a little easier for multi kid families and things like that.
20:21
Speaker 10: So this is just a great event that we do
20:22
Speaker 10: every year. Slango Law, of course, is our primary sponsor
20:25
Speaker 10: on this, and we have a whole slew of other
20:27
Speaker 10: sponsors that are involved that have contributed to this thing.
20:30
Speaker 10: It's just an incredible thing. Lineup is going to be
20:32
Speaker 10: at starting at three. If you've never done it before,
20:35
Speaker 10: the lineup can get kind of long. I mean, it
20:38
Speaker 10: can wrap out of the parking lot and go down
20:39
Speaker 10: the street towards Catholic a little bit. You've got to
20:41
Speaker 10: be a little careful. And then the giveaway will start
20:44
Speaker 10: at four and we'll go until we give away all
20:45
Speaker 10: the backpacks. We're estimating about six.
20:48
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what it usually is. And again the lineup
20:50
Speaker 3: begins at three and we'll start handed about at four.
20:51
Speaker 3: And the way it works, if you're not familiar with this,
20:53
Speaker 3: what we do is we're all out on the on
20:55
Speaker 3: the parking now, not the lot where we park the
20:57
Speaker 3: vans on the other side. I'm pointing like people can
20:59
Speaker 3: see a couple of months, they'll be able to circular
21:03
Speaker 3: circular parking light, this circular light. And so basically what
21:06
Speaker 3: we do is is we're all set up and we
21:08
Speaker 3: have other vendors that will come in instead of health right,
21:10
Speaker 3: and some others are out there to give information. Now
21:12
Speaker 3: we bring the kids in about four or five at
21:14
Speaker 3: a time.
21:15
Speaker 4: Uh.
21:15
Speaker 3: And because we can't we just can't do more than that.
21:17
Speaker 3: And They basically just go from spot to spot on
21:20
Speaker 3: our parking lot and then we shift them on out
21:22
Speaker 3: the door. Here's the main thing to remember though, all right.
21:26
Speaker 3: One of the main things to remember, and there are several,
21:28
Speaker 3: is that we do have rules on this thing. And
21:30
Speaker 3: one of those is is that kids have to be present.
21:34
Speaker 3: And so we can't get into this when you know,
21:36
Speaker 3: mommy or grandma you know, shows up and says, well,
21:38
Speaker 3: I got so and so at home, we got to
21:40
Speaker 3: see the kid. Okay, we so bring the kids with you.
21:44
Speaker 3: Hydrate them because it's going to be really really hot
21:46
Speaker 3: out there today. Hydrate them. But we'll try to get everybody.
21:50
Speaker 3: And we've got it kind of down. I mean, I've
21:51
Speaker 3: only been involved with it for a couple of years,
21:53
Speaker 3: but we've we've kind of got it down to a
21:55
Speaker 3: science where we're be able to bring okay, four or
21:57
Speaker 3: five in at a time. We bring families in and
21:59
Speaker 3: then we get them about halfway through and say, okay,
22:01
Speaker 3: bring in the next four or five. So that's how
22:03
Speaker 3: many people. How many kids show up for these things
22:06
Speaker 3: and parents too. And again we say lineup is at three,
22:10
Speaker 3: and we actually begin at four. It actually goes all
22:13
Speaker 3: the way down the street well past Charleston Catholic High School.
22:16
Speaker 3: That's how many of these kids that show up for
22:19
Speaker 3: these things. And I'm want to give a big shout
22:20
Speaker 3: out to Selango Law. They stepped up to be our
22:23
Speaker 3: presenting sponsor this year. But Coop mentioned there are several
22:26
Speaker 3: other sponsors including West Virginia I Consultants, Revolt Energy, the
22:30
Speaker 3: Charleston Police Department. They always have a presence here. They're
22:32
Speaker 3: always hanging out with US Trojan Landing, Marine Styke, Wealth Enhancement,
22:36
Speaker 3: PoCA Valley Bank, Family Care, Health Centers, the one to
22:39
Speaker 3: sixty Driving Academy, West Virginia Health, Right, Charleston Childcare Learning Services,
22:44
Speaker 3: Knaw County Schools, garib Dental Group, Elk City Cycles, ten
22:48
Speaker 3: Ten Inc. And Norfolk Southern. Those are some of the
22:50
Speaker 3: folks that help to make this whole thing possible because
22:53
Speaker 3: the here's the bottom line, coup that stuff and those
22:55
Speaker 3: backpacks cost money.
22:56
Speaker 10: Oh absolutely, it's got a government does it does and
22:59
Speaker 10: all that. What he does a great job and our
23:01
Speaker 10: staff does a great job of doing is getting the
23:02
Speaker 10: folks together that are community minded with a place to
23:05
Speaker 10: deploy that to the community. So all of these businesses
23:07
Speaker 10: that are involved with this have a charitable heart towards
23:10
Speaker 10: the community, and we when we try to find a
23:12
Speaker 10: way as a facilitator to get them to the community
23:15
Speaker 10: so that we can give away these items. And so
23:17
Speaker 10: it's always a great event. Seventeen years in, I can't wait.
23:19
Speaker 10: We're going to go twenty on this thing, there's no question,
23:21
Speaker 10: and it's going to be pretty awesome.
23:22
Speaker 3: And I want to get hats off to Woody Woods
23:25
Speaker 3: because this was his vision that he started years and
23:28
Speaker 3: years ago and he kind of took all of Again,
23:30
Speaker 3: I wasn't here at the time a lot of people
23:32
Speaker 3: to build. He were, and they kind of brought everybody
23:34
Speaker 3: out with them. And it's one of those when we
23:36
Speaker 3: do three or four events a year that we call
23:38
Speaker 3: all in when even though this is a beat promotion,
23:41
Speaker 3: we're all in on it and we have office staff
23:43
Speaker 3: out there, we bring sales, weasels out there. You know, everybody,
23:46
Speaker 3: everybody takes part in this coop.
23:48
Speaker 10: That is true, and it makes everybody feel feel a
23:51
Speaker 10: little better with contributing to the community a little bit
23:53
Speaker 10: and again being facilitators for the community and getting to
23:55
Speaker 10: meet our listeners. You know, you go around there and
23:57
Speaker 10: folks come in and get to meet some of the
23:58
Speaker 10: folks on the radio, not all a lot of them.
24:01
Speaker 10: Most of them are beat listeners, but not all of them.
24:03
Speaker 10: And so we have dignitaries or talent or whatever you
24:06
Speaker 10: want to call it from all the stations out there.
24:08
Speaker 3: What we are I don't know, but you're on the
24:09
Speaker 3: air at that time, so that's true. But Coop and
24:12
Speaker 3: Weekly will kind of help out as best they can.
24:14
Speaker 3: But you guys are doing live radio at that time,
24:16
Speaker 3: are not always able to do it. And here's the
24:18
Speaker 3: thing about it too, and that Woody and I talked
24:20
Speaker 3: about this and you kind of touched on this. The
24:23
Speaker 3: things that they've put in the backpacks over the years
24:26
Speaker 3: have changed. I was talking to my wife about this
24:28
Speaker 3: the other day because we saw and there's several media
24:30
Speaker 3: outlets doing similar things to this, and hats off to
24:32
Speaker 3: all of them. But about when it came to the
24:35
Speaker 3: water bottles, But I just remember as a kid, who
24:38
Speaker 3: you know, public school, I'm a kid of the seventies
24:40
Speaker 3: and you know the eighties lining up for the water fountain.
24:43
Speaker 3: Sure that's not a thing anymore.
24:45
Speaker 5: No, No, who wants to put their mouth in one
24:46
Speaker 5: of those anymore?
24:47
Speaker 3: Well, we did it in the seventies. That's how we survived.
24:49
Speaker 5: Did you ever go behind the kid that put his
24:51
Speaker 5: whole mouth over the thing?
24:52
Speaker 11: Oh?
24:52
Speaker 5: Everybody never school had that kid that put their whole
24:54
Speaker 5: mouth over the thing.
24:55
Speaker 3: And one kid always got pushed into the water fountain too.
24:57
Speaker 3: That's just part of it.
24:58
Speaker 5: I was that kid.
25:00
Speaker 3: No, I'm kid, I'm kidding, but but it did happen. Uh.
25:03
Speaker 3: And and now it's just it's totally changed with what
25:05
Speaker 3: the kids need, me, all the all the kids, they
25:08
Speaker 3: all have iPads now that are provided by the schools,
25:10
Speaker 3: and at least most counties do that. So we got
25:12
Speaker 3: to look at earbuds, and we got to look at
25:14
Speaker 3: you know exactly. It's just changed. It's a different world, man.
25:17
Speaker 10: Not to get too far off topic, but say you're
25:19
Speaker 10: out for a walk and you're really parched, and you're
25:21
Speaker 10: at like, say the Conel City Community Center because I
25:24
Speaker 10: know that they at least used to have one there.
25:25
Speaker 10: You have no drink, you don't have any cash to
25:27
Speaker 10: stop and get you something, and you walk by a
25:29
Speaker 10: public water fountain. Are you taking any water from that thing?
25:32
Speaker 4: Percent?
25:33
Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, I think I still would too.
25:35
Speaker 3: I mean, our generation grew up drinking out of I'm
25:37
Speaker 3: from I'm from coal Camp. Sorry, we grew up drinking
25:40
Speaker 3: out of the out of the creek, you know, and
25:42
Speaker 3: did and we did just fine, he said, as he's
25:44
Speaker 3: got three eyes on. But nonetheless, Coop, I appreciate you
25:49
Speaker 3: stepping up.
25:51
Speaker 5: But it's by back in tack tomorrow or tonight today?
25:53
Speaker 3: Yeah, today, tonight. We'll start at three o'clock this afternoon,
25:56
Speaker 3: lining up at our at our studios here eleven eleven
25:59
Speaker 3: Virginia Street and Charleston, and it will go all the
26:02
Speaker 3: way down the block. We'll start at four. Again, parents
26:05
Speaker 3: can't show up and say I got kids at home.
26:08
Speaker 3: Kids got to be here and so that's just part
26:12
Speaker 3: of the deal. And then we hand you the backpack
26:14
Speaker 3: and other stuff too. Like I said, we got other
26:16
Speaker 3: vendors that are always on hand here, so it'll be
26:18
Speaker 3: a great day for the kids. Weather looking good, all
26:20
Speaker 3: be it hot. Lineup is at three. We start at
26:22
Speaker 3: four o'clock at our studios eleven eleven Virginia treat East
26:25
Speaker 3: here in Charleston. The seventeenth annual Backpack Attacking and all
26:28
Speaker 3: those sponsors that I mentioned making them all possible, and
26:30
Speaker 3: the big one in Silango Law, so very very happy
26:33
Speaker 3: to have them on board this year. It is twenty
26:36
Speaker 3: six minutes now away from ten to Dave Island Show
26:38
Speaker 3: in five any live Pride to you, probably by Morgan
26:40
Speaker 3: to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm. If you're injured,
26:43
Speaker 3: visit Forthpeople dot com Texas. What's really frustrating is almost
26:47
Speaker 3: all West Virginia voters, We're going to vote for a
26:49
Speaker 3: man who's been sexually violent towards women and children. It's
26:51
Speaker 3: weird and it's gross.
26:54
Speaker 5: All right.
26:55
Speaker 3: So here's the thing about that statement, and I don't
26:57
Speaker 3: disagree with what the text are saying. I could very
27:00
Speaker 3: easily say, are you talking about Biden's not running? I
27:02
Speaker 3: could very easily say Biden, and fifty percent of the
27:05
Speaker 3: people would say, oh, you must be talking about Biden.
27:08
Speaker 3: So that's where we are. That's where we are. Text says,
27:11
Speaker 3: let's correct. The record inflation is two point nine percent
27:15
Speaker 3: as of July twenty twenty four. The target rate is
27:17
Speaker 3: two percent facts, not the twenty percent or whatever increase.
27:21
Speaker 3: The texture said. President Biden has successfully lowered the inflation
27:24
Speaker 3: rate brought on by the one hundred year pandemic. Says
27:28
Speaker 3: the textra I will tell you this and again. This
27:30
Speaker 3: story just broke at the top of the hour, and
27:32
Speaker 3: as I normally do, put the I put the stations
27:36
Speaker 3: or put the television on when I come in here
27:37
Speaker 3: in the morning, and I go for the most nonpartisan
27:41
Speaker 3: news I can find, which I'm a big fan of
27:43
Speaker 3: News Nation and not Newsmax News Nation, I said, and
27:47
Speaker 3: that was the headline, inflation going down. That's that was
27:51
Speaker 3: the headline when I came in, text says Lie. All right,
27:55
Speaker 3: is it a verb? I mean, am I supposed to
27:57
Speaker 3: use it that way? I don't know. All right, So
28:02
Speaker 3: there is a big story in the news that broke
28:05
Speaker 3: last night. I'm gonna try to get into this a
28:07
Speaker 3: little bit later on, and I know Hoppy is definitely
28:08
Speaker 3: going to get into it. That is State Senator Mike
28:10
Speaker 3: Maroney northern part of the state, busted for alleged indecent exposure.
28:17
Speaker 3: It's a bizarre story. Hoppy is going to get into it.
28:20
Speaker 3: Covered up at the top of the hour. I'll mention
28:21
Speaker 3: a little bit later on if I get the opportunity.
28:24
Speaker 3: I'm going to take a break. Last night, it was
28:26
Speaker 3: a packed house at Valley Park and Hurricane and one
28:29
Speaker 3: of the biggest crowds I've seen for a single event
28:30
Speaker 3: in Putnam County in a long time, and I've lived
28:32
Speaker 3: there for ten years. It has to do with Appleachian
28:34
Speaker 3: Power proposing some much needed upgrades to the power transmission
28:37
Speaker 3: systems in the area, and I talked talked to a
28:41
Speaker 3: lot of people there last night, including folks from Appalachian Power,
28:44
Speaker 3: and I thought it's my duty to give them an
28:47
Speaker 3: opportunity to speak to it as well. So we're going
28:49
Speaker 3: to be talking to George Porter from Appleachian Power when
28:52
Speaker 3: we come back right after this on the Voice of Charleston.
28:55
Speaker 2: Chis brought to you by the Eric J. Tar Family Businesses.

31:43
Speaker 3: going into the break, one of the biggest crowds for
31:46
Speaker 3: any event that I've seen in Putnam County of the
31:48
Speaker 3: ten years and I've lived there. Albilash of Power are
31:50
Speaker 3: proposing some much needed upgrades to the power transmission systems
31:54
Speaker 3: in the area. I don't think any money is arguing
31:56
Speaker 3: about that. But what's giving some people some heartburn is
31:59
Speaker 3: the roots or at all these proposed routes. Nothing's been
32:01
Speaker 3: decided yet. That's being discussed because one of the plans,
32:05
Speaker 3: one of the and again not definite, not one hundred percent,
32:09
Speaker 3: has it running through a portion of the Meek's mountain
32:11
Speaker 3: trail systems. As I said, the first public gathering was
32:14
Speaker 3: held last night in Hurricane at Valley Park. The second
32:16
Speaker 3: will be held at the Winfield Community Center four thirty
32:19
Speaker 3: to seven thirty this evening. Yesterday I had on Hurricane
32:22
Speaker 3: Mayor Scott Edwards, who is vehemently, as I mentioned earlier,
32:25
Speaker 3: posed to the plan. So in the interest of fairness,
32:28
Speaker 3: I went to the meeting last night and struck up
32:31
Speaker 3: some conversation with some folks from Apple Action Power. George
32:34
Speaker 3: Porter is the director of communication for Apple Action Power
32:36
Speaker 3: and he George is now George, good morning, welcome to the.
32:38
Speaker 4: Show, one of daves.
32:41
Speaker 3: You've got a really bad connection there, sir. Are you
32:44
Speaker 3: still with me?
32:48
Speaker 5: All right?
32:49
Speaker 3: Georgie there?
32:52
Speaker 5: Okay?
32:52
Speaker 3: Are you anywhere where you could get to a landlined
32:54
Speaker 3: or something? Because you are horrible right now, sir?
33:00
Speaker 4: Try again?
33:00
Speaker 3: Sorry, all right, it sounds good. Now wherever whatever you do,
33:03
Speaker 3: and stop where you are right there, don't move, okay,
33:07
Speaker 3: all right, let's just try to keep it here. Big
33:10
Speaker 3: turnout last night at Valley Park. What did you hear, sir?
33:14
Speaker 4: It was Hughes turnout. I think we had over five
33:17
Speaker 4: hundre residents, a lot of passion, vocal community owners coming
33:22
Speaker 4: out and giving us feedback and it was outstanding.
33:26
Speaker 3: So explain what exactly the Let's talk about the project
33:30
Speaker 3: as a whole. How did this whole thing come about
33:33
Speaker 3: and what needs to be done. We'll get to the
33:35
Speaker 3: routes and everything a little bit later on. As I said,
33:37
Speaker 3: nothing has been decided yet, but what is the whole
33:39
Speaker 3: idea behind having to do these upgrades?
33:43
Speaker 4: So what happens is PGM is the regional Transmission organization
33:46
Speaker 4: that monitors the grid every year. They're looking at opportunities
33:50
Speaker 4: for us to do a better job to provide reliable service.
33:53
Speaker 4: So they let us know that this area was one
33:55
Speaker 4: that was struggling and reliability. So we asked us to
33:58
Speaker 4: come up with a solution to provide better power and
34:01
Speaker 4: it's just the solution was to rebuild this twenty mile
34:04
Speaker 4: transmission line of the bank Croft Milton transmission project.
34:08
Speaker 3: And so last night at the way the meeting works,
34:10
Speaker 3: and I'll go ahead and give you a preview if
34:12
Speaker 3: and I'm assuming the one in Winfield's going to work
34:14
Speaker 3: the same. And by the way, if they have as
34:16
Speaker 3: many people show up in Winfield as they did in
34:19
Speaker 3: Valley Park last night, they're going to need a bigger
34:20
Speaker 3: community center because there was a lot of people there
34:24
Speaker 3: and now. And I think that's good and I think
34:26
Speaker 3: even you folks would agree with that because it's about
34:28
Speaker 3: getting information. But the way it worked last night is
34:31
Speaker 3: you walk through the doors there at Valley Park and
34:34
Speaker 3: you stood in a line and you worked your way
34:37
Speaker 3: to the front of the line and you were getting
34:38
Speaker 3: then given a comment card, and that comment you could
34:41
Speaker 3: comment card. You could either fill it out there, you
34:43
Speaker 3: could drop it into mail, you know, whatever you wanted
34:45
Speaker 3: to do. But then when you walked into the main
34:47
Speaker 3: area of the Valley Park Conference Center, that's where all
34:51
Speaker 3: of the displays were set up, and you folks had
34:53
Speaker 3: I'll give you credit. I mean, you guys really had
34:55
Speaker 3: it nailed down as far as every corner you went
34:58
Speaker 3: to in that very very large, the main area of
35:01
Speaker 3: Valley Park, George, you had it pretty much every space
35:05
Speaker 3: taken in there with people that can ask specific questions.
35:08
Speaker 3: If I am a you know, if I've got a
35:11
Speaker 3: home that could be somewhere in the middle of all this,
35:13
Speaker 3: then I could go to this section. If I was
35:15
Speaker 3: concerned as most people were last night about the Meek's
35:18
Speaker 3: Mountain trails, I could go to that section. That's it.
35:22
Speaker 3: It's pretty well organized there. Well.
35:27
Speaker 4: Uh, and again you guys still hear me. So the
35:34
Speaker 4: object behind is to always make sure we have you've
35:40
Speaker 4: done it, yeah, cross.
35:44
Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, George. Uh, wherever you were, we're gonna
35:47
Speaker 3: need you to go back there.
35:50
Speaker 4: What about now?
35:50
Speaker 5: All right?
35:50
Speaker 3: Are you're good? Now, you're good? Now, go ahead.
35:53
Speaker 4: You know, we've done this long enough to know that
35:55
Speaker 4: not every proper owner has the same concern and so
35:58
Speaker 4: I'm going to show up with environmentally so we're going
36:00
Speaker 4: to show up with aesthetics. They're worried about the look
36:03
Speaker 4: of the structures. Some were worried about the roads that
36:07
Speaker 4: are going to be need to be built for the products.
36:10
Speaker 4: We try to have every subject matter expert available to
36:13
Speaker 4: answer every question at the open house. You know, it's
36:16
Speaker 4: us a long time to get to that process well
36:20
Speaker 4: on the way, but I think we have a pretty
36:22
Speaker 4: good process and as you saw that, we think it
36:25
Speaker 4: worked very well.
36:26
Speaker 3: So the majority of people, as I said, George, and
36:28
Speaker 3: when this first came to light, was people concerned about
36:30
Speaker 3: the Meeks Mountain trail system in Putnam County. This was
36:33
Speaker 3: something that was a lot of volunteer hours went into
36:37
Speaker 3: Anywhere from one to three hundred people that's estimated use
36:40
Speaker 3: those trails on a daily basis. There's an economic impact.
36:43
Speaker 3: I know, I saw restaurant owners there last time, I
36:45
Speaker 3: saw other people. What would you say to people that
36:47
Speaker 3: are concerned about and again, nothing is final, let's keep
36:50
Speaker 3: that in mind. Nothing is final. But what would you
36:52
Speaker 3: say to the people that were concerned, specifically George about
36:55
Speaker 3: the Meeks Mountain trail system.
36:57
Speaker 4: Well, you know number one mentioned get as many people
37:03
Speaker 4: out doing that. Actually we did not think we know,
37:11
Speaker 4: so we community to help us in those caps. So
37:14
Speaker 4: have those business owners and a Meek trail. I can't
37:18
Speaker 4: get all.
37:22
Speaker 3: Right, George, George, this is not working, buddy, this is
37:26
Speaker 3: not working. We're exactly are you on the Meeks Mountain trail? Now?
37:31
Speaker 3: Where are you.
37:34
Speaker 4: A headquarters there?
37:37
Speaker 5: I'm building?
37:42
Speaker 3: Okay, Uh, if you're at a headquarters, can you get
37:44
Speaker 3: to a landline and call us back?
37:47
Speaker 5: Yep, we'll do that, all right.
37:48
Speaker 3: Let's try that. All right, all right, Coop, he's going
37:50
Speaker 3: to get to a landline and try to call us back. Hey,
37:53
Speaker 3: they're in the power business. They're not in the cell business.
37:55
Speaker 3: But while we're at it, maybe we could try to
37:57
Speaker 3: work on sales service. So I'm not really sure. I
37:58
Speaker 3: know George works out of Roanoke. I'm not exactly sure
38:01
Speaker 3: where he is this morning. I heard the word headquarters
38:03
Speaker 3: was all I was able to hear in there. I
38:07
Speaker 3: got a couple of texts I'll read while we're waiting
38:08
Speaker 3: on George to call back. The Dave Island showing five
38:10

38:21
Speaker 3: dot comtext says they're going to say whatever they need to,
38:24
Speaker 3: but the real reasons are to increase shareholder profits. They're
38:27
Speaker 3: in the business to make money, regardless of the community wishes,
38:30
Speaker 3: says a text. Texas says, I was there. The power
38:34
Speaker 3: company did a great job of training their employees to
38:36
Speaker 3: sell the plant to the citizens. They used employees that
38:39
Speaker 3: actually live in Putnam County. The employees obviously are not
38:42
Speaker 3: going to speak against their employer for threat of losing
38:44
Speaker 3: their careers. Basically AEP, but local citizen AEP employees in
38:48
Speaker 3: an impossible situation. They were forced to speak positively on
38:51
Speaker 3: the project in an attempt to persuade people. It was
38:54
Speaker 3: kind of sad to watch the people spoke loud and clear.
38:56
Speaker 3: They better come up with an alternative plan, says a
38:59
Speaker 3: tex All right, I think George is back. Georgia. There
39:07
Speaker 3: you go.
39:08
Speaker 5: All right?
39:09
Speaker 4: Do that sound better?
39:09
Speaker 3: You sound better?
39:10
Speaker 2: You sound sorry about that?
39:12
Speaker 3: That's all right, It happens, It happens, all right. So
39:14
Speaker 3: when we left off, we were talking about those that
39:16
Speaker 3: are specifically concerned about the Meeks Mountain Trail system. So
39:19
Speaker 3: start that answer over again.
39:21
Speaker 4: Yeah, So you know, number one, we love the passion.
39:23
Speaker 4: You know, it's something that we ask for, you know,
39:26
Speaker 4: we actually community to come out. That's where we are
39:28
Speaker 4: in the process. We're trying to get that feedback, and
39:31
Speaker 4: we understand there's been unfortunately a lot of misinformation, but
39:34
Speaker 4: we feel like last night was an opportunity for the
39:37
Speaker 4: majority of people to come out and hear the actual
39:39
Speaker 4: process and here are the steps we plan to take
39:42
Speaker 4: to make sure we minimize impacts if we decided to
39:46
Speaker 4: go that route again, like you said before day, we
39:48
Speaker 4: haven't made a decision yet. We have to take all
39:50
Speaker 4: that feedback from last night as well as tonight and
39:53
Speaker 4: go back with our team and take a look at it.
39:55
Speaker 3: And you said there's been a lot of misinformation out there.
39:57
Speaker 3: Can you give us an example of that.
39:58
Speaker 4: Yeah. I think one of the most important things is,
40:01
Speaker 4: you know, when you look at the map, you see
40:02
Speaker 4: a lot of different routes, and a lot of people
40:04
Speaker 4: last night thought we were building all those routes. So
40:07
Speaker 4: last night was an opportunity to kind of square that
40:09
Speaker 4: away and say no, we're only looking at one of
40:10
Speaker 4: these as a possible option. So that was Ben's information.
40:14
Speaker 4: You know, I've heard a lot of words demolished the trails.
40:17
Speaker 4: You know, if it ends up we end up going
40:19
Speaker 4: that way, that is something that we would never do.
40:22
Speaker 4: You know. We understand the importance of this to the community.
40:24
Speaker 4: We understand the impact that it has on the community,
40:27
Speaker 4: So we would never work to demolish or destroy anything.
40:30
Speaker 3: Is George, is there a place again we're talking to
40:32
Speaker 3: George Porter's, director of communications for Appalachic Power. Is there
40:36
Speaker 3: a place online where people can go take a look
40:38
Speaker 3: at it for themselves if they can't make it to
40:40
Speaker 3: the meetings last night and hurricane and tonight at Winfield
40:42
Speaker 3: that they can't make it. Is that information available online somewhere?
40:46
Speaker 4: It absolutely is. We have a website Appalachicpower dot com
40:49
Speaker 4: slash Bancroft Milton, that's the project website. We have a
40:53
Speaker 4: virtual website there so if you're not able to make it,
40:56
Speaker 4: you can go in and you can see all the
40:57
Speaker 4: information that we're going to have set up tonight. We
41:00
Speaker 4: also have an opportunity for you to fill out of
41:01
Speaker 4: comment card online and that's another thing I want to
41:04
Speaker 4: make sure we mentioned Dave. With every comment, whether it
41:07
Speaker 4: be one or one thousand, we're going to take a
41:09
Speaker 4: look at We're going to read every one of them,
41:10
Speaker 4: we're gonna digitize them, we're gonna put them on the map,
41:12
Speaker 4: and we're going to look at them, and we're gonna
41:13
Speaker 4: evaluate them.
41:14
Speaker 3: So as we close, George and I appreciate you taking
41:16
Speaker 3: time out of your schedule to be here. What is
41:18
Speaker 3: the message that you'd like to give to the people
41:20
Speaker 3: of Putnham County about these projects right now?
41:23
Speaker 4: The most important thing is we're early you know, we're
41:26
Speaker 4: still in the planning stage, and this is the time
41:28
Speaker 4: when if they are adjustments that can be made and
41:30
Speaker 4: need to be made, this is when we need to
41:32
Speaker 4: make them. So this is an opportunity to come out
41:35
Speaker 4: voice your opinion, provide us with the feedback. Like I
41:38
Speaker 4: said before, in it's you know, we talk a lot
41:40
Speaker 4: about Miexed Mountain Trail, but there's also twenty other miles
41:42
Speaker 4: along this process, over a thousand other property owners that
41:46
Speaker 4: could be impacted. So you know, we have a lot
41:48
Speaker 4: of decisions to make and we're early on and we're
41:50
Speaker 4: going to make sure we do our due diligence and
41:52
Speaker 4: make sure we do it right.
41:53
Speaker 3: All right, George, I appreciate you being here and going
41:55
Speaker 3: through what you did to get through to us.
41:57
Speaker 4: Man.
41:57
Speaker 3: I appreciate it very very much. Job Dave, So George,
42:00
Speaker 3: I appreciate you being here. Thanks a lot, George Porter
42:02
Speaker 3: again as the director of Communications for Appalachian Power. The

42:13
Speaker 3: General Hardware wv dot com. And again the second of
42:16
Speaker 3: those meetings will be held this evening at the Community
42:20
Speaker 3: Center in Winfield. They start around four thirty. They'll wrap
42:22
Speaker 3: up to seven thirty, and again, it sounds like a
42:24
Speaker 3: lot when you say four thirty to seven thirty, but
42:26
Speaker 3: the way these things are set up, and I intended
42:28
Speaker 3: last nights, it's really you're not going to stay there
42:31
Speaker 3: the whole time. You can stay if you want to,
42:34
Speaker 3: but you just kind of drift in. You have to register.
42:36
Speaker 3: There's a registration process. They then give you a comment card.
42:39
Speaker 3: You drop those comments in if you want to take
42:41
Speaker 3: a little bit more time you want to take it
42:43
Speaker 3: home and take it, take a look at it. You can,
42:45
Speaker 3: and then you just look at the maps and you
42:47
Speaker 3: look and you ask the questions of the people that
42:50
Speaker 3: are that are there, And many people did last night,
42:53
Speaker 3: As I said, probably the one of the biggest events
42:55
Speaker 3: I've ever attended as far as people numbers go. In
42:59
Speaker 3: Day's Valley. Last night was that event. This one of
43:01
Speaker 3: the night at the Winfield Community Center starts at four
43:04
Speaker 3: thirty and will wrap up till seven thirty.
43:06
Speaker 4: SI.
43:06
Speaker 3: If you don't get off work till six or six thirty,
43:08
Speaker 3: you can just go straight there. People are doing it
43:10
Speaker 3: in a variety of different ways. Tex says the communication
43:13
Speaker 3: director can't properly communicate. Bodes well for the Meeks Mountain Trail,
43:17
Speaker 3: says the text Well, I was kidding him about actually
43:19
Speaker 3: being on the trail.
43:20
Speaker 5: He was not.
43:20
Speaker 3: He was in an office building somewhere. So once we
43:22
Speaker 3: got into an old fashioned landline, something to be said
43:25
Speaker 3: for that he was able to communicate with us there.

Speaker 3: let's go to the follege. Let's talk to Ray. Good morning,
46:11
Speaker 3: you're on the air.
46:13
Speaker 7: Hey Dave. About these projects, sir? Two things real quick.
46:20
Speaker 7: Back a few years ago, the federal government built these
46:23
Speaker 7: housing projects Oliver Putnam County. The residents had no says
46:29
Speaker 7: like well, Tornado was in Kanall County, Hurricane Winfield, Tey's
46:36
Speaker 7: Valley built in all these giant housing projects right in
46:40
Speaker 7: the middle of these nice communities. Imported people out of state.
46:45
Speaker 7: I mean it is a travesty. I mean went the
46:49
Speaker 7: town of Winfield had a murder within the first six
46:52
Speaker 7: months and the people don't have no stay on these projects,
46:57
Speaker 7: like Teen's Valley wide project. They had a meeting that
47:02
Speaker 7: teased out Christian School. Nobody knew about it, and they
47:08
Speaker 7: talk about lighting the roads, but then sidewalks and a
47:12
Speaker 7: bike lane, right the mental tas value. You got to
47:15
Speaker 7: be kidding me. Yeah, the people were saying, you know,
47:20
Speaker 7: we need a bike lane. They don't live on that
47:22
Speaker 7: main road. How would you like if they came up
47:26
Speaker 7: in your subdivision, build sidewalks and have a strangers biking
47:30
Speaker 7: and walking right in front of your house? And I
47:34
Speaker 7: talked to the project manager of some foreign guy. He said,
47:37
Speaker 7: oh yeah, we will hop and say people, well, who
47:41
Speaker 7: wants a road? It's already close to people's homes. Who
47:45
Speaker 7: wants a road ten foot from your house? How could
47:48
Speaker 7: you sleep? Right?
47:49
Speaker 15: Not?
47:50
Speaker 4: I need?
47:52
Speaker 3: Can I ask you what are your thoughts on the project?
47:55
Speaker 3: With Appalachian power?
47:59
Speaker 7: I'm not really familiar with that subject. I was a
48:01
Speaker 7: listening okay, okay, I just like the people to have
48:05
Speaker 7: a real power.
48:06
Speaker 5: I got you to speak.
48:08
Speaker 7: Now you have individuals saying hey, let's do this, let's
48:10
Speaker 7: do that. Well, what send out flowers to all the
48:14
Speaker 7: people and infected areas? And don't just take their homes.
48:18
Speaker 7: You know what happens when they buy your house out.
48:21
Speaker 7: See your house is worth one hundred and forty thousand dollars,
48:24
Speaker 7: they give you one hundred and forty thous You try
48:27
Speaker 7: to buy a house that's like your house, it's going
48:30
Speaker 7: to cost you two hundred thousand dollars. You always lose.
48:34
Speaker 7: I'm for progress, but let's let's have a little input, please, all.

49:51
Speaker 3: on time or are they running late or there's a mechanical.
49:54
Speaker 5: Issue or whatever.
49:55
Speaker 3: Based on the amount of parents that I see these
49:57
Speaker 3: days dropping their kids off at school, I didn't know

Speaker 3: any kids rode the school busses anymore. But either way,
