- 0:19Speaker 3: Saga Dogs Day Line, Don't tell you gotta work.
- 0:23Speaker 4: Welcome to Let's talk with Carl Lee. Let's talk is
- 0:26Speaker 4: probably presented by Attorney Frank Walker. Real talk, real experience,
- 0:30Speaker 4: real results, Frank Walker Law dot Com. Let that conversation
- 0:34Speaker 4: begin on let's talk.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Hello, ladies and gentlemen, This is Carly with Let's talk
- 0:39Speaker 3: and have in the building. Hollis Lewis, Hello, and the
- 0:44Speaker 3: famous miss Odi Lisa Ody.
- 0:47Speaker 5: Hello.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Interesting time of the year. Football training camp. I call
- 0:58Speaker 3: it training camp and I don't know what still is right?
- 1:02Speaker 2: What do they call it camp?
- 1:04Speaker 3: Do they call it just camp or something like for
- 1:06Speaker 3: like the youth football or not?
- 1:07Speaker 2: Should I should know that? But high school football? What
- 1:10Speaker 2: are they call it? Call it? In high summer? Camp?
- 1:12Speaker 2: Training camp? Okay? All right?
- 1:14Speaker 6: Camp?
- 1:16Speaker 2: Hollis. We went through camp.
- 1:21Speaker 3: At State and as a coach, I can make the
- 1:26Speaker 3: case that you know it went well and da, But
- 1:30Speaker 3: I'm interested in your take on what does that when
- 1:36Speaker 3: you hear training camp? What is it that goes through
- 1:40Speaker 3: your mind? What is it that you think about when
- 1:42Speaker 3: you think about you being in camp.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Man, this is the challenge. The dog days of summer.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I mean it was you know, at that time, we
- 1:50Speaker 1: would do three days and you have two meetings in
- 1:53Speaker 1: between there. So you would have you know, you're going
- 1:56Speaker 1: to have your morning practice, You'll go back to your room,
- 2:01Speaker 1: eat rest, and then you have probably then your individual meeting,
- 2:06Speaker 1: and then you have your afternoon practice. Then you would
- 2:10Speaker 1: have a team meeting or walk through, and then if
- 2:12Speaker 1: you play special teams, you would have an additional practice.
- 2:15Speaker 1: So it was a time to like if you weren't
- 2:17Speaker 1: already in good shape, to you know, get in shape
- 2:20Speaker 1: for the season. It was a time to learn your playbook.
- 2:22Speaker 1: But I think more than anything, when I think back
- 2:24Speaker 1: on that, it was really a time to you know,
- 2:27Speaker 1: to build with your teammates, like you really got to
- 2:29Speaker 1: know guys. We stayed on campus and we were I
- 2:32Speaker 1: mean you're working from you know, seven am to nine
- 2:36Speaker 1: ten pm every day for and it was like two
- 2:39Speaker 1: and a half maybe three weeks at that time.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Yea, So it was like a real it was a
- 2:43Speaker 2: camp like.
- 2:45Speaker 6: That was what it was camp.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Yeah, right, And when I go back and I go
- 2:50Speaker 3: back to like you know, in full pads too.
- 2:52Speaker 2: H And I say that.
- 2:55Speaker 3: It was a four week I can remember back in
- 2:57Speaker 3: the day, it was a four week camp. And to
- 3:02Speaker 3: your point, Holliss, like the majority of that was really
- 3:06Speaker 3: conditioning running. Everything that you did had to do with
- 3:10Speaker 3: some kind of running and all of that kind of stuff.
- 3:12Speaker 3: And then you you on the sidebar, you learned your plays,
- 3:18Speaker 3: terminologies and all those kinds of things.
- 3:21Speaker 2: But man, the coaches.
- 3:23Speaker 3: Really made you run as much as they could.
- 3:28Speaker 2: And and again when I when I.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Coached them at State, I know for a fact how
- 3:33Speaker 3: challenging that was because I had already been through it,
- 3:37Speaker 3: so I was going to give them exactly what I
- 3:39Speaker 3: had had not not.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Really do that's a lot. It's just what I mean,
- 3:45Speaker 2: I mean, the reality of it. It was really just
- 3:47Speaker 2: what it was.
- 3:48Speaker 7: Yeah, that's the way you did it. That was like
- 3:49Speaker 7: the old school kind.
- 3:50Speaker 6: Of physical endurance.
- 3:53Speaker 7: You know, you you pushed your point to yourself to
- 3:56Speaker 7: the point of exhaustion.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Basically, no walking anywhere, No you know, if you take
- 4:01Speaker 3: a break. The only time you're taking your helmet off
- 4:04Speaker 3: back in those days was if you were.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Gonna get a drink.
- 4:08Speaker 6: And that was limited. Right, that was limited, like you
- 4:10Speaker 6: had strict water.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Yes, that was very smart. No, it really was not.
- 4:16Speaker 3: But I'm I'm a I'm a creator of that. I
- 4:21Speaker 3: was I would do that. I would be like, we're
- 4:23Speaker 3: only getting water, Like you're not just gonna walk over
- 4:25Speaker 3: and just go get you a drink of water.
- 4:27Speaker 2: That didn't even make sense to me.
- 4:29Speaker 7: That's that showed weakness, thirsty and respect, disrespect, dehydration, and
- 4:36Speaker 7: disrespect that your hand in hand.
- 4:38Speaker 6: I guess, right, I guess.
- 4:39Speaker 7: I mean, and you had heavy contact, right, I mean
- 4:42Speaker 7: it was kind of the game.
- 4:43Speaker 2: I mean most of the time. Yeah, it was.
- 4:44Speaker 1: It was definitely some form of contact. It wasn't always
- 4:47Speaker 1: you know, eleven all out contact. There was definitely contact
- 4:51Speaker 1: in every practice. And that was going back to like high.
- 4:53Speaker 2: School, you know.
- 4:55Speaker 3: And you had like you had like the different types
- 4:58Speaker 3: of tackling drills, blocking drills, all of those kinds of
- 5:02Speaker 3: things that they were they were live, I mean, you
- 5:08Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. And you couldn't and if you
- 5:11Speaker 3: were the kind of guy that wasn't really trying to
- 5:13Speaker 3: go hard, you better have told the person on the
- 5:17Speaker 3: other side, because on the other side of that that
- 5:20Speaker 3: dude's thinking he's got to go hard because he what
- 5:22Speaker 3: he's thinking that Hollis is gonna go hard.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Yeah. Now, I mean now it's different.
- 5:25Speaker 1: So now like they don't I think you can't really
- 5:29Speaker 1: do two a day's there's limited on contact.
- 5:32Speaker 2: They don't always practice full pads.
- 5:35Speaker 1: So and I think now like there's much more of
- 5:38Speaker 1: an emphasis on like learning your skill set, learning your playbook,
- 5:42Speaker 1: and you're expected to come into to camp it tip
- 5:45Speaker 1: top shape, you know from high school to college, so
- 5:49Speaker 1: because you have such limited time, and it also have
- 5:51Speaker 1: flex practices where they do seven on seven, so they
- 5:55Speaker 1: have a lot more practice, but it's not his intensive
- 5:58Speaker 1: maybe as what we did in those you know, three
- 6:01Speaker 1: and a half weeks.
- 6:02Speaker 7: I think there's I think with the modern camps there's
- 6:04Speaker 7: more of a focus on safety, hell and hydration. You
- 6:09Speaker 7: have limited water. We're we're not going to be stingy
- 6:11Speaker 7: with it. And and I think they even have like
- 6:14Speaker 7: kind of integrated cryotherapy into some of them.
- 6:19Speaker 6: Type of camp.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Definitely would depend on your resources. The NFL definitely, Yeah.
- 6:23Speaker 7: And I don't know if you guys heard of this,
- 6:24Speaker 7: do you know that some of them were GPS bests.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Like the little Yeah.
- 6:28Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I didn't know that.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I didn't get your heart rate and gets you different
- 6:32Speaker 1: vital tracture.
- 6:33Speaker 7: Yeah, to make sure that you're not to the point
- 6:35Speaker 7: of exhaustion, because we know, you know, the more fatigue
- 6:38Speaker 7: that you experience, the more injury, you know, the more
- 6:40Speaker 7: injuries that possibly.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Are you saying that's the team that goes through that process.
- 6:45Speaker 6: I think I think it was the place, especially NFL right.
- 6:50Speaker 1: That they were really popular a couple of years ago.
- 6:53Speaker 1: But it's just like, you know, what I say about
- 6:55Speaker 1: football now is like when we talk about the conditioning,
- 6:57Speaker 1: when you talk about the safety features, it's much more
- 7:00Speaker 1: of a science. Now they're getting them vitals and making
- 7:03Speaker 1: sure that you know you're you're good inside and out.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:08Speaker 7: I tell you something else that I think is a
- 7:10Speaker 7: little bit different too, And maybe you guys can let
- 7:12Speaker 7: me know what you think. But I think now these
- 7:14Speaker 7: these training camps have become more of like an open
- 7:17Speaker 7: door type of you know, social media is there, the news, fans,
- 7:22Speaker 7: you know, it becomes more of a like an event,
- 7:24Speaker 7: like almost similar to like pregames or even a game.
- 7:29Speaker 7: I mean it used to be weren't your practices kind
- 7:32Speaker 7: of closed door and secretive during your camps.
- 7:35Speaker 6: You didn't really want people there.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Yes to me, like like even even back in high school,
- 7:41Speaker 3: there was really like you didn't even have parents.
- 7:45Speaker 6: You just didn't have people there.
- 7:46Speaker 3: You just didn't have them because you did not want
- 7:50Speaker 3: anybody to see what you're doing. And and and I
- 7:56Speaker 3: hate to say this because I know that it's it's
- 7:59Speaker 3: there was a lot of those things that were wrong.
- 8:03Speaker 3: But if I were going to play, if I was
- 8:05Speaker 3: going to start with football again, I would want to
- 8:08Speaker 3: come through that process exactly the way that I came
- 8:13Speaker 3: through what I just I just I just would No,
- 8:17Speaker 3: I would want to come through this area and not
- 8:19Speaker 3: not And I'll say this because there's number one, it's
- 8:21Speaker 3: just more information.
- 8:22Speaker 1: So me being a quarterback, like it was like you know,
- 8:26Speaker 1: you being able to have like all the game film
- 8:28Speaker 1: on your phone, and it's much more.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Well not so much that, not so much the technology,
- 8:34Speaker 3: but the actual the actual physicality of how you played.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Would you want to do it the way that you
- 8:41Speaker 3: did it, the way that you were made to do it,
- 8:44Speaker 3: or would you want to.
- 8:45Speaker 1: I want to play in this era because I think
- 8:46Speaker 1: it's much more to me. Like I said, I just
- 8:49Speaker 1: think you just have more tools and resources. I mean, obviously,
- 8:52Speaker 1: like if you're playing in that in the old school era,
- 8:57Speaker 1: you have to be tougher.
- 8:58Speaker 2: There's no doubt about it. And that's not a knock
- 9:00Speaker 2: to the guys.
- 9:00Speaker 1: It's just a different game because of you know the
- 9:03Speaker 1: rules and how you could hit and how you can
- 9:05Speaker 1: get hit. But I like this era because there's just much,
- 9:08Speaker 1: so much more information. And again that's me me predicated
- 9:12Speaker 1: on me being a quarterback, right, So maybe if I
- 9:15Speaker 1: was a defensive lineman or a running back it might
- 9:17Speaker 1: be different, But because I played quarterback, I want the information.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Guys have so much more information because even if you
- 9:23Speaker 1: have a like you can find coaching not only within
- 9:27Speaker 1: the context of the people you have around you, but
- 9:30Speaker 1: you can search the web for anything you may be
- 9:34Speaker 1: not as proficient in.
- 9:35Speaker 7: Right, Right makes sense, I mean to me, I think
- 9:38Speaker 7: it's just a smarter way to do. Camp is the
- 9:41Speaker 7: way they do it now instead of doing you know
- 9:43Speaker 7: you said three a days. I mean I was thinking,
- 9:45Speaker 7: just most most programs are two a day's right.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Or the time it was.
- 9:51Speaker 3: Well they would come back and the special teams wasn't
- 9:55Speaker 3: as drastic as as your offense and defense or you know,
- 10:00Speaker 3: your first two practices right right, They just were trying
- 10:03Speaker 3: to make sure they introduced you to special teams and
- 10:06Speaker 3: those kinds of things, and a lot of people didn't
- 10:09Speaker 3: even call them three A days. It was basically two
- 10:12Speaker 3: A days with that maybe being part of it.
- 10:14Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I don't think we And I think that
- 10:16Speaker 1: was kind of something that happened towards the end of camp,
- 10:19Speaker 1: not necessarily yeah, possibly, yeah.
- 10:21Speaker 7: When you're getting closer to this season beginning. And also
- 10:24Speaker 7: I think the way that they do those you know,
- 10:26Speaker 7: they do the one major practice plus walkthroughs, I think
- 10:29Speaker 7: to me that that's easier on the body, especially at
- 10:32Speaker 7: the NFL level. I mean, we all know, we see
- 10:35Speaker 7: what happens every preseason. I mean, these guys usually are
- 10:38Speaker 7: in tip top shape, and they still find ways to
- 10:41Speaker 7: get hurt during the preseason, especially the guys that are
- 10:43Speaker 7: trying to make the team, so you know, the least
- 10:46Speaker 7: amount of.
- 10:47Speaker 1: But I will say, I mean I think there is
- 10:49Speaker 1: something to be said for like just having that contact,
- 10:53Speaker 1: like coach is saym because like if you're pounding, your
- 10:56Speaker 1: body kind of gets used to it a little bit.
- 10:58Speaker 1: So a lot of the you'll see these guys having
- 11:00Speaker 1: these uh you know, just just like minor injuries, just
- 11:04Speaker 1: being hurt a little bit, just because their body is
- 11:06Speaker 1: not used to the to that contact. Because I mean,
- 11:09Speaker 1: we're looking at it now and you know you got that.
- 11:11Speaker 1: They're not even they don't even have pad you know
- 11:13Speaker 1: what I'm saying. So it's just so I think it's like,
- 11:17Speaker 1: you know, it's good and bad.
- 11:18Speaker 6: And most of these.
- 11:19Speaker 7: Teams don't they travel places like I know, the Giants
- 11:21Speaker 7: weren't the Giants at the Greenbroo this last league. So
- 11:25Speaker 7: most of these teams don't do their their camps at their.
- 11:28Speaker 8: Home field, now do they. They kind of like baseball, Yeah, yeah,
- 11:31Speaker 8: we we would go to Mankato State. Okay, you guys
- 11:35Speaker 8: traveled to Yes, Minnesota, Yes, yeah we would.
- 11:39Speaker 2: We wouldn't. We wouldn't.
- 11:41Speaker 3: We had a practice facility, then we had the dome.
- 11:44Speaker 3: But we would go to Mankato for camp for the
- 11:49Speaker 3: and I the only reasoning because you can't say fan
- 11:52Speaker 3: base because if you man Cato State they had football,
- 11:56Speaker 3: and all of a sudden, you're bringing Tommy Kramer and
- 11:59Speaker 3: these kind of guys to campus, you know, because school's
- 12:03Speaker 3: not in yet.
- 12:04Speaker 2: So the football teams.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Their football team would be coming in as we are
- 12:10Speaker 3: kind of wrapping it up. But there's people driving and
- 12:16Speaker 3: packing the stands while we're practicing, so you weren't getting
- 12:20Speaker 3: away from them, you were just getting away from a
- 12:22Speaker 3: different crowd.
- 12:23Speaker 2: I think it's smart, man.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I think you know, I would love to see like
- 12:26Speaker 1: and I would say this is for all sports like
- 12:28Speaker 1: basketball and football. I would love to see preseason games
- 12:31Speaker 1: being played in in states that don't have like you know,
- 12:36Speaker 1: like I would love y'all would love to see like
- 12:38Speaker 1: a like a preseason game like the Browns and the Steelers,
- 12:41Speaker 1: like a w VU or Marshall, you know what I mean.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I think it's smart because you end up having some
- 12:49Speaker 1: kids who go down there and now they'll be Giants
- 12:50Speaker 1: fans or they had the SATs down there. So I
- 12:53Speaker 1: would love to see that, like I kind of get
- 12:55Speaker 1: expanded where you not only have bits of your training
- 12:57Speaker 1: camp other places, but actually play some preseason games. I'm
- 13:00Speaker 1: not even sure they don't have four preseason games.
- 13:04Speaker 8: I mean, yeah, preseason games three cut.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Three or two? Yeah?
- 13:09Speaker 3: Now yeah, and see I think if you had three two,
- 13:13Speaker 3: I thought if you had if you had four three
- 13:15Speaker 3: it makes three if you had four, Okay, it would
- 13:19Speaker 3: make sense to be able to take three of those
- 13:23Speaker 3: on the road to a place. And again, it's making
- 13:27Speaker 3: money too. You know, it's an opportunity to make money.
- 13:30Speaker 1: But you know it's not it's not as much money
- 13:32Speaker 1: as you know, playing in the home stadium of that
- 13:34Speaker 1: particular team, you know he's the owner. But it would
- 13:40Speaker 1: be cool, it would be it would be cool, Like
- 13:42Speaker 1: you know, I'm saying, like we had a game in
- 13:44Speaker 1: Marshall Stadium or or Johan Edward Stadium in Mountain air Field.
- 13:48Speaker 6: So yeah, that would be cool.
- 13:50Speaker 7: All right, you guys want to walk you can kind
- 13:52Speaker 7: of walk into this conversation from that one. So we're
- 13:55Speaker 7: talking about training camp and players. Carl, you mentioned something
- 14:00Speaker 7: in our text threat about former players shaping the rules
- 14:04Speaker 7: and regulations of football.
- 14:06Speaker 3: I would like, I think, and I don't, and I
- 14:09Speaker 3: know for a fact, I can't think of his name now.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Brad Edwards is on he played with Minnesota. He I
- 14:18Speaker 3: know is on one of the committees that do to
- 14:22Speaker 3: shaping and regulations.
- 14:24Speaker 2: And all that kind of stuff.
- 14:26Speaker 3: I really truly believe that when you start talking about
- 14:29Speaker 3: the safety part of the game, when you start talking
- 14:31Speaker 3: about rules and regulations. I think that room should be
- 14:37Speaker 3: filled with players more than somebody that's in.
- 14:41Speaker 6: A lusively player. I'm not going to say exclusively, but
- 14:46Speaker 6: more players went on.
- 14:47Speaker 3: More players, more players than not because wouldn't you want
- 14:51Speaker 3: to ask, well, you know, we were thinking about changing
- 14:54Speaker 3: this particular rule because we think, you know, this hit
- 14:57Speaker 3: could this If you hit somebody thisarticular way, it could be,
- 15:02Speaker 3: it could be it could be unsafe.
- 15:04Speaker 2: You know, so we're trying to make sure that the
- 15:06Speaker 2: guys are safe.
- 15:08Speaker 3: Why why are you not maybe going to the players
- 15:11Speaker 3: to get that answer of whether or not that should be,
- 15:15Speaker 3: that should be something.
- 15:16Speaker 2: That can change.
- 15:17Speaker 6: Are they doing that?
- 15:18Speaker 9: I don't think.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I don't.
- 15:20Speaker 1: I don't think the I think they have some input,
- 15:23Speaker 1: but I don't think they have like obviously the NFLPA,
- 15:26Speaker 1: but they're not exclusively right because.
- 15:29Speaker 2: I don't think that you should. I don't.
- 15:31Speaker 3: I think the majority of the rules should basically be
- 15:37Speaker 3: based on the players thought process of it, because I
- 15:43Speaker 3: think that they they would know because we could sit
- 15:46Speaker 3: in the room and we could talk about it and
- 15:48Speaker 3: we could say, oh, yeah, look at this on this
- 15:50Speaker 3: example on a on a film clip, right and we
- 15:53Speaker 3: could make that change. Are we making a change that
- 15:58Speaker 3: is realistic? Okay? How what would the players think? How
- 16:04Speaker 3: do Why don't we ask the players and see what
- 16:07Speaker 3: they're thinking? And if we want to do this, let's
- 16:11Speaker 3: let's before we put it out there, let's talk to
- 16:13Speaker 3: the players, a group of players.
- 16:16Speaker 1: I just think, I mean, I see what you're saying,
- 16:18Speaker 1: and I think the players should have input. But I
- 16:20Speaker 1: also think there's some implicit bias because obviously, if you're
- 16:23Speaker 1: a defensive player, your your perspective is going to slant defense,
- 16:27Speaker 1: if your offense your offen, the player's gonna slant offense.
- 16:31Speaker 1: And I think sometimes but.
- 16:32Speaker 3: If it's just safety, if it's just we're not talking
- 16:34Speaker 3: I'm talking about safety issues on but if you're talking
- 16:36Speaker 3: about safety issues again, I think sometimes players can just
- 16:39Speaker 3: think about the execution of the game and they're not
- 16:42Speaker 3: necessarily looking at like the bigger picture, right because I mean,
- 16:46Speaker 3: even though like some of the rules around safety are
- 16:49Speaker 3: asinine and it's hard and it make it slows the
- 16:52Speaker 3: game down a little bit, but I think it's coming
- 16:55Speaker 3: from a place of trying to be as safe as possible,
- 16:58Speaker 3: to get it right and all so to not stunt
- 17:02Speaker 3: the growth of the game, and I think players sometimes
- 17:05Speaker 3: y'all don't necessarily think about it like that.
- 17:07Speaker 1: You're thinking about You're thinking about more of like the
- 17:11Speaker 1: purity of the game as opposed to like a bigger picture,
- 17:15Speaker 1: like where what does.
- 17:16Speaker 2: This look like in ten years? Are we going to
- 17:18Speaker 2: have foot? You know what I mean?
- 17:19Speaker 7: It's yeah, I want to go with car with Hollis
- 17:22Speaker 7: on this because it could be a conflict of interest,
- 17:25Speaker 7: right depending on the player's position and the team they
- 17:28Speaker 7: played for, you know, And just like you just said
- 17:31Speaker 7: talking about your past training camps, you did what you
- 17:35Speaker 7: always did, that was what you felt like worked, and
- 17:38Speaker 7: so you might protect those past habits, you know, according
- 17:42Speaker 7: to the rules of the game for your own benefit,
- 17:45Speaker 7: because that's the way it's always been done and that's
- 17:47Speaker 7: the way it should be done.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I would say when I went to State, and I
- 17:53Speaker 2: can say this open to put.
- 17:55Speaker 7: You in a corner or anything. No, I don't want
- 17:57Speaker 7: to get fired tonight.
- 18:00Speaker 2: I've got more reasons if I.
- 18:03Speaker 3: One of the things that I would say if I
- 18:06Speaker 3: were to go back, if I were getting another opportunity
- 18:09Speaker 3: at Western Union State and I was starting over, would
- 18:12Speaker 3: I change something specifically. The only thing that I would
- 18:18Speaker 3: probably change would probably be the amount of contact that
- 18:23Speaker 3: we actually did have.
- 18:26Speaker 2: And the only reason is is because I really changed that.
- 18:29Speaker 3: I would change that because I do know now you know,
- 18:32Speaker 3: maybe even the hard way that you know, more contact isn't.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Always good, but it wouldn't.
- 18:41Speaker 3: I don't think I would change like some of the
- 18:44Speaker 3: drills that are contact based, because the game is contact
- 18:51Speaker 3: and you know, and Hollis, you know, there's some guys
- 18:54Speaker 3: who just don't like contact, and you can and to
- 18:56Speaker 3: play football and not like contact one, you're not probably
- 19:00Speaker 3: going to be a starter. You're probably just going to
- 19:02Speaker 3: be kind of a guy who's roaming around a little bit.
- 19:06Speaker 3: And if you're good enough to be out on the field,
- 19:09Speaker 3: and yet you still show the fear because you can
- 19:11Speaker 3: see if somebody doesn't want to be they're afraid of
- 19:15Speaker 3: being hit or afraid to hit. I mean, I think
- 19:20Speaker 3: that the game has to consist it consistently has to
- 19:23Speaker 3: be quote physical and.
- 19:27Speaker 1: But but if you're on the rules making committee, how
- 19:30Speaker 1: do you balance that with like safety?
- 19:33Speaker 2: How do how do you balance?
- 19:35Speaker 3: And I do and I do think that's hard and
- 19:37Speaker 3: as a as a player, if I were to say,
- 19:40Speaker 3: if you were to say, basically as you're saying, okay,
- 19:44Speaker 3: what would you do to create a safer situation for
- 19:49Speaker 3: let's just say tackling, Hm, okay, So everybody's going to say,
- 19:53Speaker 3: well you keep your head up?
- 19:55Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, can you keep your head up all the time?
- 20:00Speaker 2: Will you keep your head up all the time?
- 20:02Speaker 4: No?
- 20:03Speaker 1: I mean, you're right. I mean, it's just it's impossible.
- 20:06Speaker 1: It's it's virtually impossible.
- 20:08Speaker 3: So even even the implement implementation of the rules, the.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Only thing that comes out of that is a flag.
- 20:21Speaker 2: I mean I see. I mean, like I said, it's
- 20:24Speaker 2: I'm not saying you're wrong.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Hidden in the back all of those face masks, all
- 20:31Speaker 3: those things that you know that everybody in the world
- 20:34Speaker 3: knows is illegal, and it happens all the time.
- 20:38Speaker 1: But I think it's one of them situations in which,
- 20:40Speaker 1: again to me, it's almost like it's subjective first objective,
- 20:45Speaker 1: and we're asking like referees to like balance these things
- 20:48Speaker 1: against safety but also against how the game is supposed
- 20:52Speaker 1: to be playing. So it's like it's you have this
- 20:55Speaker 1: sort of weird dichotomy of like how do we like
- 20:59Speaker 1: tip the skills to alence all these things. And to
- 21:01Speaker 1: your point, you can't. So I think do we do?
- 21:05Speaker 1: We say, are we gonna let like far as the
- 21:08Speaker 1: safety sort of be the other way around? We're gonna
- 21:12Speaker 1: let safety be a little bit more weighted. Are we
- 21:14Speaker 1: gonna let sort of the purity and the sanctity of
- 21:17Speaker 1: the game be more weight like?
- 21:18Speaker 2: What do we do?
- 21:19Speaker 1: And I think as a player, I think you guys
- 21:22Speaker 1: have trouble with that part of it because you're always
- 21:24Speaker 1: gonna tip the scales in sanctity of the game, keep
- 21:27Speaker 1: it as pure as possible. Even do we know what
- 21:32Speaker 1: the ramifications of you know, not being safe if we
- 21:35Speaker 1: look at Ahmed Green.
- 21:37Speaker 6: Right, Parkinson's Chris Johnson, just.
- 21:41Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. I mean, it's a als,
- 21:43Speaker 3: It's it's this game.
- 21:45Speaker 2: Is and and the bad.
- 21:51Speaker 3: And again to your point, Hollis, I agree with you because.
- 21:59Speaker 2: When you're a player, and when you have reached.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Specially let's just say, if you reach the major college
- 22:06Speaker 3: level with the opportunity to play on Sunday, when you
- 22:12Speaker 3: get there on Sunday, and what you realize is is
- 22:17Speaker 3: the physicality of the game and the importance of it.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Of that physicality, you know, and to and and to
- 22:25Speaker 3: ask me not to be like that's that's a that's
- 22:31Speaker 3: a that doesn't even make sense.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Even because you can't go you can't go halfway to zero.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Chances of you because if I'm running to tackle you,
- 22:42Speaker 3: if I want to ease up, you can't do I
- 22:45Speaker 3: can't because you're gonna You're gonna speed up. And if
- 22:49Speaker 3: I'm trying to say, well, I'm not gonna hit him
- 22:50Speaker 3: as hard as I really.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Could now, but who who Who takes the blow? And
- 22:56Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I just think when we talk about safety not to
- 22:59Speaker 1: go off the tangent. But I think that we have
- 23:02Speaker 1: to have like and I would say this is for
- 23:05Speaker 1: all sports, but particularly like football. We need significant investment
- 23:10Speaker 1: from the league, from ownership, as far as like trying
- 23:14Speaker 1: to figure out, you know, scientifically, like all those things
- 23:18Speaker 1: around CT, all those things around Parkers and ail us,
- 23:21Speaker 1: all these sort of neurological things that have happened, like
- 23:24Speaker 1: to figure out to the best of our abilities, to
- 23:27Speaker 1: make significant investments to say, hey, these are the signs
- 23:31Speaker 1: and symptoms early or or these are the things we
- 23:33Speaker 1: need to watch out for. These are things we could change,
- 23:36Speaker 1: These are the things we can implement, so I think,
- 23:38Speaker 1: you know, that's what I would like to see as
- 23:39Speaker 1: far as in addition to go with sort of those
- 23:42Speaker 1: those rules, because I think we kind of got to
- 23:44Speaker 1: start there and then work our way backwards, but we
- 23:47Speaker 1: need significant investment from these organizations.
- 23:50Speaker 7: Yeah, I totally agree with that statement. And I also
- 23:52Speaker 7: think that in your perspective, when you think about players
- 23:56Speaker 7: and contributing to the regulations and rules of the game,
- 24:00Speaker 7: you're probably gonna have two sides of the thinking. You're
- 24:05Speaker 7: gonna have the people like Carl that believe in the
- 24:08Speaker 7: old school hitting hard, and then you're also gonna have
- 24:12Speaker 7: the people over here that maybe, like you just said,
- 24:14Speaker 7: have been affected in some neurological way by the game,
- 24:17Speaker 7: and they're gonna think, you know, we're gonna have to
- 24:19Speaker 7: push for this long term type of game where people
- 24:23Speaker 7: aren't getting hurt, aren't getting hit as hard because we're
- 24:26Speaker 7: seeing the you know, the brain injuries, the neurological disorders
- 24:30Speaker 7: that that are coming with these these players playing in
- 24:33Speaker 7: the NFL for periods of time. So I think you've
- 24:36Speaker 7: got when you think about the rules and regulations, you're
- 24:38Speaker 7: gonna have these two camps kind of looking at each other.
- 24:41Speaker 7: The ones that are affected and the ones that aren't.
- 24:44Speaker 1: But I would also agree to cut you off, but
- 24:46Speaker 1: I would also agreet it. I think most players, regardless
- 24:49Speaker 1: of that sort of camp, they're not gonna be for
- 24:52Speaker 1: things like adding games, things like playing overseas. To me,
- 24:58Speaker 1: that's probably where you have most problems because the players,
- 25:01Speaker 1: I think collectively would do things to inhibit revenue because
- 25:05Speaker 1: you're not going to be nobody. No player wants to
- 25:07Speaker 1: go to to to to Europe once or twice a year,
- 25:11Speaker 1: or to play more games, or to do this or
- 25:14Speaker 1: to do that.
- 25:14Speaker 2: So I think that's where you will probably run over
- 25:17Speaker 2: the most players. Well, yeah, and I agree with that.
- 25:19Speaker 3: And see, and this is why when I when you
- 25:22Speaker 3: when you start talking about these people in the room,
- 25:26Speaker 3: talking about less you know, you know, the contact, How
- 25:30Speaker 3: do we how do we adjust the contact? Well, to
- 25:34Speaker 3: your very very valid point, hollis, well, I'm not I'm
- 25:39Speaker 3: okay with going overseas, but to play, you know, if
- 25:43Speaker 3: that's where we got to go.
- 25:45Speaker 2: But why are you adding games?
- 25:47Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 25:47Speaker 2: We again, because there there is there is the money.
- 25:53Speaker 3: There is the money, and I'm gonna and I don't
- 25:56Speaker 3: say it as loud as I can possibly say it
- 25:58Speaker 3: the money is ruling over the safety, you know, because.
- 26:04Speaker 7: At the end of that in your day, I mean,
- 26:06Speaker 7: it's been that way forever. I mean they've they've they've
- 26:08Speaker 7: changed some things in the favor of the players, in
- 26:10Speaker 7: their safety, but overall, we know who who's you know,
- 26:14Speaker 7: in charge, man, And if you let players have two
- 26:16Speaker 7: big voice, players will be wanting them guaranteed contracts too.
- 26:19Speaker 10: Yeah, it's one of those kind of as they should,
- 26:24Speaker 10: as they should worker worker employee kind of issue that.
- 26:31Speaker 3: That there's no there's no real equal side to take
- 26:37Speaker 3: because again, the fan base, the owners, they they're okay
- 26:43Speaker 3: with the they're okay with all the contact.
- 26:45Speaker 2: They're okay because they don't mind adding another game.
- 26:48Speaker 3: They don't mind you know, we can do it over time,
- 26:51Speaker 3: this way and all that, anything to keep the revenue coming.
- 26:56Speaker 2: And in most cases, the players, what do we do?
- 27:00Speaker 2: Just play? Just play, and as long as we just play,
- 27:05Speaker 2: we want to be good.
- 27:07Speaker 3: So I'm gonna hit Hollis as hard as I possibly can,
- 27:10Speaker 3: even if I even if we best buddies, I gotta
- 27:12Speaker 3: hit him as hard as I possibly can because it's
- 27:15Speaker 3: the game.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Yeah, man, I just think, like I don't know, just
- 27:19Speaker 1: to that point. This is why I'm an advocate for
- 27:23Speaker 1: like a minor league football season that's excuse me, a
- 27:26Speaker 1: minor league football league that's directly tied to the NFL,
- 27:30Speaker 1: because I think we need that. You have to, in
- 27:32Speaker 1: my opinion, you have to have that because I think
- 27:34Speaker 1: if you had a minor league system where you had
- 27:37Speaker 1: like the usf UFL and it was tied to the
- 27:40Speaker 1: NFL and you can actually send players to that that
- 27:42Speaker 1: you think need some work, I don't think you need
- 27:45Speaker 1: the evaluation period, So I don't I think you could
- 27:48Speaker 1: probably cut preseason games to maybe two or one. You
- 27:51Speaker 1: could keep the season at sixteen, and that way I
- 27:54Speaker 1: can already evaluate you in this in this minor league
- 27:57Speaker 1: and call you up, you know what I mean. So
- 28:00Speaker 1: I think we have to have something like that in
- 28:03Speaker 1: order to balance the scales. Because to that point, all
- 28:05Speaker 1: does it, Yeah, baseball does.
- 28:07Speaker 2: I mean, football is different.
- 28:08Speaker 1: But but to your point, man, you think about playing
- 28:11Speaker 1: I mean, because we're seventeen games now, and if you're
- 28:14Speaker 1: a starter, you're probably going to play at least one
- 28:16Speaker 1: or two preseason games. So that's nineteen games plus maybe
- 28:20Speaker 1: a playoff run. That's a lot of football. At a
- 28:24Speaker 1: high level.
- 28:26Speaker 2: A ton of plays. Yeah, it's a ton. And I
- 28:30Speaker 2: always tell people when you talk about the NFL, I
- 28:32Speaker 2: heard like Jake Paul, I don't know if y'all seen
- 28:34Speaker 2: that on the pivot he's talking about.
- 28:36Speaker 1: Yeah, football is not that hard. I could do it.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I'm like, are you insane?
- 28:40Speaker 2: Like they're watch that? You watch it? It's like a
- 28:43Speaker 2: dudes that are like six seven d ns that run
- 28:48Speaker 2: like a four to six yeah, and convent and can
- 28:51Speaker 2: rep out four oh five. These dudes are super human dudes.
- 28:55Speaker 1: You got offensive linemen who are carrying three point fifty
- 28:58Speaker 1: three forty It can move and you and offense line
- 29:03Speaker 1: three forty that's six' five and you cannot get around.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Them do you understand what the type of athletes that
- 29:10Speaker 1: we were talking?
- 29:10Speaker 2: About and and until.
- 29:12Speaker 7: It never ceases to amaze, me these analysts they get
- 29:15Speaker 7: on these podcasts and shows and then say it's easy
- 29:18Speaker 7: to do any of this stuff as they sit in
- 29:19Speaker 7: their comfy chair behind a.
- 29:21Speaker 6: CAMERA i HAVE i have in front of a.
- 29:23Speaker 3: CAMERA i am fortunate enough to have seen some like
- 29:28Speaker 3: just unbelievable players who maybe has not have not gotten
- 29:34Speaker 3: like a lot of public attention and all that kind of,
- 29:37Speaker 3: stuff national. Attention but one particular player THAT i will
- 29:45Speaker 3: speak to THAT i probably never said his name on
- 29:49Speaker 3: this on this, Show Anthony Carter.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Ac, YEAH i remember.
- 29:54Speaker 6: Him look.
- 29:56Speaker 3: Probably probably about a hundred and seventy pounds seventy no
- 30:05Speaker 3: more than seventy two or, three and could be even
- 30:09Speaker 3: maybe into sixty.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Something.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Okay he Beat San, francisco he beat The, saints he
- 30:19Speaker 3: beat every team that we played in the playoffs when
- 30:23Speaker 3: we went to THE Nfc. Championship and he would get
- 30:28Speaker 3: hit like people would like because the thought, process he's so,
- 30:32Speaker 3: small that's hit.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Him intimidate, him get him out, there right out of the,
- 30:35Speaker 2: game get him right out of the, game and get
- 30:37Speaker 2: him out of the. Game could not do. It he
- 30:41Speaker 2: would get up like he just he could take the.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Hit he could take the. Hit i'm on the stop,
- 30:46Speaker 2: Line i'm, like oh my, gosh is he gonna get?
- 30:49Speaker 2: Up and he's up and running, back jogging back to the. Huddle.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Wow back in that, day the.
- 30:56Speaker 3: The the challenge was for the, defense put the, best
- 31:01Speaker 3: put those best guys, out, okay and for the best
- 31:05Speaker 3: guys you had to, SAY.
- 31:08Speaker 2: I DON'T i don't hurt.
- 31:10Speaker 7: PLAYERS i mean, seriously because you're telling me to take them.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Out hurt, them take them, out injure.
- 31:15Speaker 6: Them, like knock them.
- 31:18Speaker 8: Out nobody will say That stretcherville, Right, yes get.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Him on a.
- 31:23Speaker 1: STRETCH i think with Bounty, gate we're definitely not ever
- 31:26Speaker 1: going to. That you won't ever hear. Again, yeah. Nobody
- 31:30Speaker 1: and and again it's it's it's bad for.
- 31:33Speaker 3: It i'll say, this it's bad for a former player
- 31:35Speaker 3: to to say to tell those kind of for me
- 31:38Speaker 3: to tell those kinds of.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Stories but the, reality but that's just the way it.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Was and WHEN i WHEN i see it, TODAY i
- 31:46Speaker 3: realized that it's not that you.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Know and then then the question.
- 31:51Speaker 3: Becomes, okay what would what would If Anthony carter did not,
- 31:56Speaker 3: Know not that he, cared but if he, didn't if
- 31:59Speaker 3: he knew he was going to get?
- 32:00Speaker 2: Hit what how great would he?
- 32:03Speaker 8: Be?
- 32:03Speaker 7: Now, yeah in a different era where we don't hurt webot.
- 32:11Speaker 6: To behead the player or.
- 32:13Speaker 3: WHATEVER i never had, never at any given time DID
- 32:18Speaker 3: i ever think about worrying about.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Helmet the.
- 32:21Speaker 6: Helmet, oh that wasn't a thing. THEN i.
- 32:24Speaker 2: WASN'T i never thought just. Happened Sometimes i'm going to.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Talk crazy that's how they taught us to hit. Though,
- 32:29Speaker 1: yeah they taught us to leave with the. Crown you
- 32:31Speaker 1: leave with, It and that was the dumbest thing. Ever,
- 32:33Speaker 1: yeah we didn't think it was at the.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Time we.
- 32:36Speaker 1: Didn't now we look back at, it we realized, LITERALLY
- 32:40Speaker 1: i MEAN i remember being a little league and you,
- 32:41Speaker 1: talk you were taught to right there and yet leave
- 32:44Speaker 1: with the.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Crown.
- 32:44Speaker 7: Wow and then we wonder why we have all these
- 32:47Speaker 7: neurological disorders coming out in these players as they get.
- 32:50Speaker 7: OLDER i, MEAN i mean EVEN i guess modern, football
- 32:54Speaker 7: it's it's way less than what you guys. Experienced but,
- 32:57Speaker 7: STILL i mean all the, HITS i, mean we, know
- 33:00Speaker 7: it's just it's just.
- 33:01Speaker 3: A game that you can't. Like if you if you're
- 33:04Speaker 3: willing to play, it you can't help. Yourself you can't
- 33:08Speaker 3: really protect yourself from from.
- 33:11Speaker 2: The nature of the. Game, yeah because like, again your
- 33:14Speaker 2: head's going to hit.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Somewhere there's going to BE i, mean it may not
- 33:17Speaker 1: be like a leading hit like you're leading with your,
- 33:19Speaker 1: helmet or you may not get hit the helmet the,
- 33:20Speaker 1: helmet but there's going to be time where that head
- 33:22Speaker 1: is going to hit the turf.
- 33:23Speaker 2: First so it's like it's going to.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Happen but BUT i, say overall, AGAIN i think hopefully
- 33:30Speaker 1: AND i pray hopefully that we'll see less of the
- 33:33Speaker 1: cognitive and neurological.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Disease, however as we're.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Seeing like in the training camps, now there's a lot
- 33:39Speaker 1: of more soft tissue and joint issues because of, again
- 33:43Speaker 1: guys just aren't you, know they don't have their muscles
- 33:46Speaker 1: and joints are not callous like they, were and they
- 33:49Speaker 1: probably you, know training them a little too much, now
- 33:53Speaker 1: so you know it's a give and.
- 33:54Speaker 2: Take.
- 33:56Speaker 3: Hu, well, okay so what just to close just the
- 34:01Speaker 3: just the actually close this this subject. Out i'm interested
- 34:08Speaker 3: in in each one of your. Takes if you if
- 34:12Speaker 3: you had, to if you had to pick today's games
- 34:17Speaker 3: versus old school games to watch in spite of all
- 34:23Speaker 3: the damages that come with, it which would you? WATCH
- 34:26Speaker 3: i mean it would that's that's, Hard BUT i would
- 34:31Speaker 3: probably say old school games were just, again it was
- 34:34Speaker 3: a little it was exciting to, watch you know WHAT i.
- 34:36Speaker 3: MEAN i mean because obviously you, know in spite of
- 34:38Speaker 3: everything we just, said like the hits and all those
- 34:40Speaker 3: sort of, things like it was like a, whoweh you,
- 34:44Speaker 3: know SO i will probably go old school just because
- 34:47Speaker 3: of you, KNOW i think from A tv, perspective it
- 34:51Speaker 3: was just fun to.
- 34:52Speaker 7: Watch i'm going to say today's football, GAME i THINK
- 34:56Speaker 7: i think the new, school so to, speak BECAUSE i
- 34:59Speaker 7: like what's happened with the, quarterback the development of the.
- 35:01Speaker 7: Quarterbacks it used to be the you, know drop back
- 35:03Speaker 7: and past guy was the one that dominated all the.
- 35:06Speaker 6: Games these guys can, move they can.
- 35:07Speaker 7: Run so the quarterback play is what gets me for today's.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Games so just just just solely based when the quarterback
- 35:17Speaker 3: makes you, Say, JORDAN i want.
- 35:19Speaker 6: To jordan Love Green. Bay i'm just.
- 35:21Speaker 10: SORRY i was trying to out talk you.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Over so because of the play of the, quarterback that's
- 35:31Speaker 3: enough for you to pick today's.
- 35:34Speaker 2: GAME i think it was.
- 35:35Speaker 6: More defensive back, then right.
- 35:37Speaker 2: TOO i thought to me back in it was more running.
- 35:41Speaker 6: Back, centric right, Right it.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Was it was much more running back. Central the running
- 35:47Speaker 1: back was kind of the main character on a lot of,
- 35:49Speaker 1: teams and.
- 35:49Speaker 2: It was it. Was it.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Was there were only a few quarterbacks that you even
- 35:53Speaker 3: talked about that would scramble and, run you, know and you.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Know it, WOULD i mean it was virtually and you
- 36:00Speaker 1: had l way you had. Come, No i'm talking about.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Further i'm talking about further further back with fran. Targeting you, know, yeah.
- 36:07Speaker 7: All of the quarterbacks, evolved it's completely.
- 36:09Speaker 3: Different BUT i also think sometimes that that can not
- 36:14Speaker 3: that it can be, boring BUT i think sometimes if
- 36:16Speaker 3: we're just you, know if the quarterback is just running
- 36:19Speaker 3: around and it's kind of like you really can't get,
- 36:22Speaker 3: hit it's JUST i, THINK i, See I'm i'm tripping
- 36:27Speaker 3: because you're saying that because you're being a. QUARTERBACK i
- 36:30Speaker 3: would think that that would be the least.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Well it's to What i'm saying is like it's it's
- 36:35Speaker 1: almost two quarterback centric right where like if you don't
- 36:39Speaker 1: if you absolutely don't have that, guy it's like it's
- 36:42Speaker 1: impossible to. Win think about, like you, know the eighty Five,
- 36:45Speaker 1: bears who some would demons like the best team of all.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Time some people will say that, right they won With Jimmy,
- 36:51Speaker 1: mahn he wasn't necessarily like the greatest. Quarterback and think
- 36:55Speaker 1: about somebody Like Damn, Marino Jim, kelly who some would
- 36:59Speaker 1: pit some of the great quarterbacks, ever who couldn't get
- 37:01Speaker 1: over the, hump you know WHAT i Mean Troy aikman
- 37:04Speaker 1: again a very very good Quarterback hall Of, famer BUT
- 37:06Speaker 1: i don't think he's like in that all time great.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Class but he was able to win because he had
- 37:12Speaker 1: all these dynamic pieces around. Him so you, know it
- 37:15Speaker 1: pits a lot on the quarterback now where it's just
- 37:18Speaker 1: like AND i think some teams are just like they're
- 37:23Speaker 1: too lenient on that and they don't build the team around.
- 37:26Speaker 1: THEM i think if we're looking at like The, seahawks
- 37:28Speaker 1: The seahawks have built a team around Sam donold while
- 37:31Speaker 1: they can. Win we Look Patrick.
- 37:34Speaker 3: Mahomes if he had a better, team he probably would
- 37:37Speaker 3: have seven championship rings right.
- 37:39Speaker 2: Now think about.
- 37:40Speaker 1: That he went to A Super bowl with just maybe
- 37:43Speaker 1: one of the worst offensive line, ever not having a
- 37:46Speaker 1: running back because they were it was all dependent on, him,
- 37:49Speaker 1: Right and he's that talented where he could take you
- 37:52Speaker 1: to all them Super bowls in conference. Championships but if
- 37:56Speaker 1: it was more team, centric he probably. WOULD i, MEAN
- 37:59Speaker 1: i think we would probably crown him. Now he's the greatest.
- 38:01Speaker 7: Effort what would you, Watch, CARL i.
- 38:08Speaker 6: Know what you would. Watch we don't even have to ask.
- 38:11Speaker 3: You I'm I'm i'm comfortable in the old. School i'm
- 38:16Speaker 3: comfortable in old school, play, Right and part of it
- 38:22Speaker 3: is BECAUSE i was at the tail end of, it
- 38:25Speaker 3: and you, know it was it was you, know you,
- 38:29Speaker 3: know you, know my dad's mentality was, like it's a man's, game.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Okay and so when you're when you, were.
- 38:39Speaker 3: And when you say, man, YOU'RE i mean that means
- 38:44Speaker 3: you you got to show up like you can't just
- 38:47Speaker 3: be out there and think like Ocause i'm out here,
- 38:50Speaker 3: playing that Means I'm i'm one of the. Men, No,
- 38:54Speaker 3: no for you to be out, there you gotta go
- 38:57Speaker 3: and do something that is, noticeable, memorable, memorable and maybe
- 39:06Speaker 3: even a little bit, hurtful you.
- 39:08Speaker 6: Know the injuries AGAINSH.
- 39:13Speaker 9: I, MEAN.
- 39:15Speaker 3: I JUST i had NEVER i never had ever ever
- 39:21Speaker 3: went out to play a game with the intent to hurt.
- 39:26Speaker 3: Somebody but you just, said but WHAT i WHAT i did,
- 39:33Speaker 3: do WHAT i did know and WHAT i was willing to,
- 39:36Speaker 3: do was IF i knew that you were really, good
- 39:40Speaker 3: IF i Knew hollis was really, good and and and
- 39:43Speaker 3: he's you, know when he's a quarterback and he's he's
- 39:46Speaker 3: gonna run and he's running my.
- 39:49Speaker 2: Side oh, Okay i'm going to let me take a.
- 39:53Speaker 3: Shot you, know let me make sure he doesn't throw
- 39:56Speaker 3: another touchdown.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Pass you.
- 39:57Speaker 3: Know it was just that was just it was embedded
- 40:01Speaker 3: in you to when you get that opportunity that you
- 40:06Speaker 3: you do whatever is.
- 40:08Speaker 6: Possible to make them.
- 40:10Speaker 2: Think twice running.
- 40:11Speaker 3: Again or you should never run a slant on on
- 40:15Speaker 3: On Joey browner as a, safety you should never run
- 40:19Speaker 3: it because he's gonna he's gonna literally just knock your
- 40:22Speaker 3: head off and you may not get back. Up AND
- 40:24Speaker 3: i think that's part of the game that's kind of.
- 40:26Speaker 3: MISSING i wouldn't, SAY i mean because as a. Quarterback
- 40:30Speaker 3: as a, QUARTERBACK i KNEW i couldn't leave you hanging
- 40:32Speaker 3: over the. MIDDLE i had to be careful on HOW
- 40:35Speaker 3: i do this. Everything If i'm throwing in the, middle
- 40:37Speaker 3: it had to be low and let you protect. Yourself
- 40:41Speaker 3: so now there's no fear you're not you, KNOW i
- 40:44Speaker 3: remember watching a play and you gotta look this. Up
- 40:47Speaker 3: this is the greatest Catch i've ever seen a wide
- 40:50Speaker 3: receiver Made Chris carter when he.
- 40:52Speaker 2: Played for The.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Vikings he ran a dig so it's probably like a
- 40:55Speaker 1: ten to twelve years that's the.
- 40:56Speaker 2: End, route the en.
- 40:57Speaker 1: Route the ball was, high it was a little, boy
- 41:00Speaker 1: so he had to take a little bit of. Jump
- 41:02Speaker 1: he put his hands in the. Air he looked at
- 41:05Speaker 1: it as it's coming out of the quarterback's hands and
- 41:08Speaker 1: then his. Hand then his head turned so he's looking
- 41:12Speaker 1: at the defender coming at, him hands still.
- 41:15Speaker 3: Up he makes the catch and was able to protect.
- 41:17Speaker 3: Hisself you're talking about elite. Skill i'm talking about.
- 41:20Speaker 2: It it's a little.
- 41:21Speaker 1: Thing and if you're a football, guy you know What
- 41:23Speaker 1: i'm talking. ABOUT i, mean didn't look at the ball
- 41:26Speaker 1: as it was coming into his, hands.
- 41:27Speaker 6: Just saw a good peripheral, vision.
- 41:29Speaker 2: You, think nor his head was.
- 41:32Speaker 6: Turned i'm talking about he.
- 41:35Speaker 3: Knew the ball was gonna get. There he, knew, yeah,
- 41:37Speaker 3: yeah he was in With if you ever see this,
- 41:40Speaker 3: play eyes was just LIKE i.
- 41:42Speaker 1: COULDN'T i was just, like, man this is probably one
- 41:43Speaker 1: of the greatest catches that nobody would ever even. Acknowledge
- 41:47Speaker 1: but his head was Complete it wasn't like his eyes were. Peeking,
- 41:50Speaker 1: no his head.
- 41:50Speaker 6: Was completely turned and he's doing.
- 41:53Speaker 3: This so it's like those little nuances when we talk
- 41:57Speaker 3: about skill set it you have to develop a skill
- 42:01Speaker 3: set around fear because if you're coming across that middle
- 42:05Speaker 3: and Ray lewis is coming down the micro or a
- 42:08Speaker 3: singletary or.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Whoever you need to move, Fast steve At, Water, Uh Ronnie,
- 42:13Speaker 2: lott that's a fear coming down. There he didn't even.
- 42:18Speaker 2: YOU i was waiting to give you a little panel
- 42:22Speaker 2: to do, so.
- 42:23Speaker 6: Producer which come on, now break the. Tie they both
- 42:26Speaker 6: are old. School i'm new. School what what what's your
- 42:28Speaker 6: what's your? Take?
- 42:33Speaker 2: Girl this is. Tough this is.
- 42:36Speaker 9: Tough you know, what When hollis was stalking there a minute,
- 42:39Speaker 9: ago what it was making me think of was the
- 42:42Speaker 9: the there's like a parallel change between football and where
- 42:47Speaker 9: basketball is right now. Too you, know it used to
- 42:50Speaker 9: be a much more physical. Game now it's all about
- 42:53Speaker 9: three point shooters and stuff like. THAT i, meant good
- 42:56Speaker 9: point when beyond, it who's like nine feet tall that
- 42:59Speaker 9: can shoot the?
- 43:00Speaker 2: Pointers this is this is.
- 43:03Speaker 4: Tough but the thing.
- 43:05Speaker 6: THAT i played The jeopardy, music the thing THAT i miss.
- 43:08Speaker 9: About the old school football IS i feel like the
- 43:15Speaker 9: tight end and your running backs had a lot more to.
- 43:20Speaker 9: Do they might they might have the ball thrown at,
- 43:24Speaker 9: him but they're also going to run and they're gonna,
- 43:26Speaker 9: Block they're gonna LIKE i don't feel like all. THAT
- 43:28Speaker 9: i don't feel like some of those positions are as
- 43:30Speaker 9: important to.
- 43:31Speaker 2: ME i, mean does.
- 43:31Speaker 9: Anybody even feel a fullback?
- 43:33Speaker 2: Anymore is that even a? POSITION i?
- 43:34Speaker 1: THINK i think what they, said like, one maybe two
- 43:37Speaker 1: teams have a full back now like?
- 43:39Speaker 2: That THAT'S i might be with the. Guys, goodness you're all.
- 43:45Speaker 6: Sorr i'm firing people tonight AND i didn't even.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Think about the full. BACK i mean That's i'm definitely.
- 43:51Speaker 1: WITH i want to bring Full.
- 43:53Speaker 3: YEAH i, mean because those those guys were dogs fight.
- 43:59Speaker 2: Again i'm gonna make some shirts that actually might make. Yeah,
- 44:05Speaker 2: yeah all, right we are we ready to? Switch?
- 44:08Speaker 6: Sure all?
- 44:09Speaker 7: Right so do we want to talk about the girls
- 44:12Speaker 7: or the ladies in the w N B a and
- 44:14Speaker 7: the little.
- 44:15Speaker 6: Bet we have a? CLIP i think.
- 44:17Speaker 2: Yep we need to go there At All star.
- 44:19Speaker 11: Weekend you And angel made a bet with each other
- 44:21Speaker 11: on this?
- 44:22Speaker 5: Game is that this is how the rich stay?
- 44:24Speaker 3: Rich got?
- 44:26Speaker 2: Rich you gotta say you gotta say this. Money i'm
- 44:28Speaker 2: gonna see you next week On.
- 44:29Speaker 5: Wednesday. Yeah, Hi, NO i, Practice OH i, PRACTICE i,
- 44:33Speaker 5: MEAN i, know but you if y'all, lose.
- 44:38Speaker 6: If, y'all if y'all, want you get in.
- 44:42Speaker 2: And if, no you owe me for.
- 44:47Speaker 5: But i'll say, Moment i'll say, Yeah i'll be requesting my.
- 44:51Speaker 5: Apple okay after, this but, NO i Mean paige is
- 44:55Speaker 5: a great. Player when YOU i mean harder to sixteen,
- 44:57Speaker 5: points it's tough.
- 45:01Speaker 3: Kill.
- 45:01Speaker 2: Me, okay.
- 45:02Speaker 7: Okay so that that little clip that was filmed During
- 45:05Speaker 7: All star weekend And Angel reese held up four hundred
- 45:09Speaker 7: dollars cash while she And PAIGE i always have a
- 45:13Speaker 7: hard time.
- 45:14Speaker 9: Stenterlizing is it, bukers thank.
- 45:18Speaker 6: You thank?
- 45:19Speaker 7: YOU i ALWAYS i always have to think Of Bueler
- 45:21Speaker 7: buehler buers my. Age so they were playfully like wagering
- 45:26Speaker 7: four hundred dollars on the outcome of an Upcoming Atlanta
- 45:29Speaker 7: dream And Dallas wings.
- 45:30Speaker 6: Matchup so excuse.
- 45:32Speaker 7: Me W nba social, media their official, media caught wind of,
- 45:36Speaker 7: it got, it published it, online and before deleting, it.
- 45:40Speaker 6: They started catching by clash.
- 45:43Speaker 7: And all of it was because you, know there's a
- 45:45Speaker 7: w N, b a collective bargaining rule that strictly forbids
- 45:49Speaker 7: players from directly or indirectly wagering on any league.
- 45:53Speaker 6: Competition so the.
- 45:55Speaker 7: Debate, was was it really a wager and gambling or
- 45:59Speaker 7: what is it just playful.
- 46:01Speaker 6: JOKING i think it.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Was it was, playful but it was. Real, okay you
- 46:08Speaker 2: were you're you're having me And hollis betting on. Something.
- 46:12Speaker 3: Right it might be fun because we're we're used to,
- 46:16Speaker 3: it but the, bet the betting piece of it is
- 46:22Speaker 3: the rule.
- 46:22Speaker 2: And regulations that we shouldn't be.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Doing but we've tried to dismiss it as fun because
- 46:29Speaker 3: we both got the money and you, know we're gonna
- 46:32Speaker 3: just have that on, camera on, Camera SO I i
- 46:38Speaker 3: THINK i think it WAS i think it was. REAL
- 46:42Speaker 3: i think it was just a situation where they just
- 46:44Speaker 3: did not.
- 46:45Speaker 1: Care she just didn't. CARE i agree with your. Coach
- 46:51Speaker 1: it was definitely it was, fun, playful but it was
- 46:53Speaker 1: kind of real. Too But i'm all for it better.
- 46:55Speaker 1: WAY i don't care because again sportsly have decided they're
- 47:00Speaker 1: in bed with.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Gambling and he's not.
- 47:05Speaker 1: Changing this is the this is the nature of what we're.
- 47:07Speaker 1: Doing this is what this is who we. Are we
- 47:13Speaker 1: GOT espn had a sports book there been with draft
- 47:16Speaker 1: kings and fan duels and and roadblocks and it goes
- 47:20Speaker 1: on and on and.
- 47:20Speaker 2: On this is what we. Are this is the coaching
- 47:22Speaker 2: that we.
- 47:22Speaker 1: In you're getting a ton of revenue from these uh gaming.
- 47:28Speaker 2: And prediction markets and all this other. Crap so bet
- 47:31Speaker 2: away have fun with.
- 47:32Speaker 7: It, well the league must have kind of seen it
- 47:34Speaker 7: the way that that you know that you, do because
- 47:38Speaker 7: there was no discipline taken against either.
- 47:40Speaker 6: Player there were no finds or.
- 47:42Speaker 7: Suspensions of, course you know they were top players. Players,
- 47:47Speaker 7: yeah but you, KNOW i THINK i think the problem
- 47:50Speaker 7: with all this is it's kind of a double. Standard, okay,
- 47:53Speaker 7: sure because we're, letting you, know the. Players you, know
- 47:57Speaker 7: you look at THE nba and and they're so, strict you,
- 48:01Speaker 7: know with their you, know any kind of association with
- 48:04Speaker 7: gambling with their.
- 48:05Speaker 6: Players they're very.
- 48:06Speaker 7: You, know they treat it very. Seriously those players are
- 48:09Speaker 7: suspended or what what have you? Find and these two
- 48:13Speaker 7: young ladies who play for the w N b a
- 48:15Speaker 7: walk away without even a.
- 48:17Speaker 1: HANDSLAP i, say as long as you're betting on yourself
- 48:21Speaker 1: to win or your team to, win you're not doing
- 48:23Speaker 1: any prop. Bets long As i'm betting on my team to.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Win better, Way.
- 48:30Speaker 7: But then you're opening up a whole, door a camp
- 48:33Speaker 7: of worms that you can't go.
- 48:35Speaker 2: Back, from, Right And i'm opening them, up And i'm
- 48:40Speaker 2: opening them up And i'm pouring it out AND i.
- 48:42Speaker 3: Believe and here's the thing that WHY i, believe why
- 48:47Speaker 3: the reason why he buys into that is is because
- 48:51Speaker 3: the league is taking tons and tons and tons of
- 48:54Speaker 3: money from gambling.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Resources they have, commercials they have all kind of.
- 48:59Speaker 6: Stuff set of rules for THE nba and another for
- 49:02Speaker 6: the w n B. A that's What i'm.
- 49:03Speaker 2: SAYING i think they deemed. It it's playing Playing.
- 49:05Speaker 7: Yeah, STILL i, mean if you're if you're gonna let them,
- 49:09Speaker 7: said you, know say we were just, joking because THE
- 49:12Speaker 7: nba player should be able to say.
- 49:13Speaker 2: That if that was And, lebron it would be.
- 49:15Speaker 11: Scandal but my, problem my issue, though is why do
- 49:22Speaker 11: you Have why are your sponsors gambling? Places if you're
- 49:28Speaker 11: taking if you're taking their money as and you're you're
- 49:31Speaker 11: advertising for them between the, show between the, game and
- 49:37Speaker 11: yet you're telling ME i CAN'T i can't.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Gamble you're taking the gambler's. Money how does that? WORK i,
- 49:46Speaker 1: mean that's that's definitely an. Issue BUT i JUST i
- 49:49Speaker 1: just to me to your point, LEAST i don't know
- 49:53Speaker 1: how you because.
- 49:54Speaker 2: AGAIN i think this was. PLAYFUL i think it.
- 49:57Speaker 1: WAS i just DON'T i don't know how you got on.
- 49:59Speaker 1: CAMERA i don't know how you punish. IT i don't
- 50:02Speaker 1: know how you punish it in the.
- 50:03Speaker 6: Row what you just.
- 50:03Speaker 7: Said when you look at THE, nba if we had
- 50:06Speaker 7: two superstar players in THE nba doing the same, thing
- 50:08Speaker 7: getting caught on film making a bet like, that they
- 50:11Speaker 7: would be punished in.
- 50:12Speaker 2: Someone it would be. Fine it would be talked about
- 50:14Speaker 2: a lot more of. That it would be seen. Different
- 50:16Speaker 2: it would, yes it would be the, same that's.
- 50:19Speaker 1: True but let me ask you, this do you THINK i, mean,
- 50:21Speaker 1: again four hundred dollars is a, nice you, know amount of.
- 50:24Speaker 1: Money but let's say they were. Betting let's say they
- 50:27Speaker 1: they said like ten. Thousand do you think because of
- 50:30Speaker 1: the amount was so low that it was, like, okay
- 50:32Speaker 1: they were just. Joking but If andrew was, like, all
- 50:34Speaker 1: LET'S i got ten, thousand do you think that the
- 50:36Speaker 1: mount changes the perception of?
- 50:38Speaker 6: IT i mean it.
- 50:38Speaker 7: Could, HAVE i mean, POSSIBLY i mean that's a that's
- 50:41Speaker 7: a really good. POINT i didn't think about it if
- 50:43Speaker 7: the you, know the wager was. Higher but STILL i
- 50:46Speaker 7: don't care if it's a. Penny the rule is the,
- 50:48Speaker 7: concept and it's the.
- 50:49Speaker 3: RULE i, mean and it was The All Star game,
- 50:51Speaker 3: too so it wasn't like A so do you think
- 50:54Speaker 3: like the amount and the fact that it was The
- 50:57Speaker 3: All Star game kind of changed we TAKE i.
- 51:00Speaker 6: Think it's BECAUSE i think it's What carl.
- 51:01Speaker 7: SAID i think it's because it's two superstars in the
- 51:04Speaker 7: league and they don't want to have to do anything
- 51:06Speaker 7: that might damage their their, look their their.
- 51:08Speaker 3: Stars so let's just say let's let's just say we're
- 51:11Speaker 3: we're all in The Pro, bowl, Right we're all in
- 51:13Speaker 3: The Pro.
- 51:14Speaker 2: Bowl you're the starting, Quarterback.
- 51:17Speaker 6: I'm a.
- 51:18Speaker 2: Receiver, okay that you're gonna be throwing.
- 51:20Speaker 3: Too lisa is THE dB on the other side of
- 51:24Speaker 3: THE dB on the other. Side what if me and
- 51:27Speaker 3: her are? Betting because what does that look like for?
- 51:31Speaker 2: You but what are you? Betting? Though if you have
- 51:33Speaker 2: the context to that you know we're gonna.
- 51:36Speaker 3: Win let's Say i'm going TO i might be betting
- 51:38Speaker 3: than the number of the lack of number of catches
- 51:41Speaker 3: THAT i.
- 51:41Speaker 1: Have BUT i think that's different that that's that's different
- 51:45Speaker 1: a little. Bit BUT i also say it's The All Star.
- 51:46Speaker 1: Game SO i don't think they. CARE i don't think
- 51:49Speaker 1: the league.
- 51:50Speaker 7: REALLY i think the W n B a knew something
- 51:52Speaker 7: was wrong for them to take the videos down as
- 51:54Speaker 7: quickly as they.
- 51:54Speaker 6: Did that kind Of let me ask you.
- 51:58Speaker 9: This so you know around, football around The Super bowl, time,
- 52:02Speaker 9: bars different workplaces will put together grid and you'll bet
- 52:07Speaker 9: on who the winner is of The Super bowl and
- 52:09Speaker 9: everybody will put in twenty dollars or whatever and you'll
- 52:12Speaker 9: have a couple of thousand dollars pot and whoever wins
- 52:16Speaker 9: gets that. Money is that any different doing that just
- 52:19Speaker 9: you know in house between people versus going on to
- 52:23Speaker 9: BET mgm or one of these online. Things are those to?
- 52:27Speaker 9: Say because to, me WHEN i think of this four
- 52:30Speaker 9: hundred dollars bet versus going on in app prop bet
- 52:33Speaker 9: stuff like, THAT i think they're two different.
- 52:35Speaker 1: THINGS i would agree with, THAT i, See BUT i
- 52:38Speaker 1: also think the players are playing in the, game so
- 52:42Speaker 1: with the average fan is not playing, outcome.
- 52:46Speaker 3: SEE i WOULD i don't care how Much hollis bets
- 52:49Speaker 3: Against if we're on the same team and he's betting
- 52:53Speaker 3: at least bet they're betting on.
- 52:56Speaker 2: Opposite, Teams how CAN i be happy with? That? Like
- 53:01Speaker 2: what are you? Doing?
- 53:02Speaker 3: Bro like what you can't you can't be betting whether against,
- 53:06Speaker 3: us for us or. Whatever you ain't supposed to be.
- 53:08Speaker 3: BETTING i, mean that's the hard line. RULE i, mean you're,
- 53:11Speaker 3: right BUT i just THINK i think there IS i, mean,
- 53:14Speaker 3: again when we look at this particular, SITUATION i think
- 53:19Speaker 3: this is unique because of the amount in The All Star.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Game But i'm saying putting that, aside and let's say
- 53:25Speaker 3: this was just a Regular, wait, man what are you
- 53:26Speaker 3: putting the side we're putting the fact that it was
- 53:29Speaker 3: An All star?
- 53:29Speaker 2: Game, okay we'll just put.
- 53:30Speaker 7: That side betting on the outcome of an upcoming game
- 53:34Speaker 7: between their two.
- 53:35Speaker 2: Teams so they weren't just, better that's WHAT i.
- 53:38Speaker 7: THOUGHT i THINK i just read that only they were
- 53:40Speaker 7: playfully wag dam four hundred dollars on the outcome of
- 53:43Speaker 7: an Upcoming Atlanta Dream Dallas wings.
- 53:45Speaker 1: Matchup so, okay so they're not betting on The All Star.
- 53:48Speaker 1: Game they're betting on a regulation.
- 53:51Speaker 2: They had coming. Up, yes so that's. Different it's it's
- 53:55Speaker 2: a little it's. Different BUT i also BUT i also,
- 53:58Speaker 2: say you got the same. Problem it's just to, ME
- 54:01Speaker 2: i just it's.
- 54:03Speaker 1: Different so MAYBE i would saying that in that, case
- 54:06Speaker 1: the league maybe should have handled that a little. Differently find.
- 54:09Speaker 1: Them but to your, point, yeah that's actually a good.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Idea but but to your, POINT i think they probably
- 54:16Speaker 1: didn't want to do that because they don't want to
- 54:18Speaker 1: make a deal out of.
- 54:19Speaker 2: It they just kind of wanted to go. Away.
- 54:21Speaker 1: Right but even with that being, said WHICH i think
- 54:24Speaker 1: is a smart move by the, league but it's just also, hard,
- 54:26Speaker 1: man because we're in bed with all, this and it's
- 54:29Speaker 1: just it's just hard to tell ME i can't do
- 54:32Speaker 1: something that we're all benefiting off.
- 54:34Speaker 9: Of Didn't Michael jordan win In mercedes one time making
- 54:37Speaker 9: a bet against somebody else in the.
- 54:39Speaker 1: League his wagering stories are. Legendary so, yeah he had
- 54:46Speaker 1: a lot they. Was he had a regularly better fan
- 54:50Speaker 1: just at they were like golfing prior to a. Game
- 54:54Speaker 1: allegedly that's why he played. Baseball but that's a different.
- 54:58Speaker 2: Alleged so Did Tiger.
- 55:00Speaker 6: WOODS i believe right he liked to. Gamble BUT i just.
- 55:02Speaker 2: DON'T i. DON'T i, mean you, know it's it's kind
- 55:05Speaker 2: of do AS i, say not AS i do type of.
- 55:08Speaker 2: Deal SO i. DON'T i don't, know. Man, see and.
- 55:13Speaker 3: You have these types of situations and then you have
- 55:16Speaker 3: like issues surrounding players who do other, things whatever those
- 55:21Speaker 3: other things might, be and you're you're you're locked down
- 55:26Speaker 3: on it's you were told that you weren't supposed to do,
- 55:29Speaker 3: That so consequences are this and you're.
- 55:32Speaker 2: Done and then here's something.
- 55:34Speaker 3: That you you are you really locked in on this
- 55:40Speaker 3: no gambling or are you just saying, well because it's
- 55:42Speaker 3: a small, amount it don't.
- 55:44Speaker 2: COUNT i, MEAN i can't, that, LIKE i really, LIKE
- 55:49Speaker 2: i have no argument to. THAT i think you're. Right
- 55:51Speaker 2: but at the same, TIME i would just counter by just, saying, look,
- 55:54Speaker 2: man we're all in bed with, this SO i, mean
- 55:58Speaker 2: we we this is the. Life We it's like mama
- 56:01Speaker 2: telling you not to smoke when she's smoking a pack of.
- 56:03Speaker 3: Day it's kind of hard for her to get, yeah
- 56:05Speaker 3: don't smoke cigarettes when she's smoking a pack of eight
- 56:08Speaker 3: and hot boxing you in the car and everything, else you.
- 56:11Speaker 2: Know WHAT i, mean going to school smell like. Smoke
- 56:14Speaker 2: you kind of grew up with, smoke and a lot
- 56:16Speaker 2: of these yeah should we, shouldn't Like i'm, saying and
- 56:21Speaker 2: it's just, like you, know LIKE i, said you gotta
- 56:23Speaker 2: understand a player who's entering THE nf THE, NBA, NFL
- 56:28Speaker 2: w n B a and they're they're. Twenty they literally
- 56:31Speaker 2: grew up their whole life.
- 56:32Speaker 6: GAMBLING i mean that's they've been exposed to this their,
- 56:35Speaker 6: home this.
- 56:36Speaker 2: Is a this is part of their How like we
- 56:38Speaker 2: grew up with like, cigarettes they grew up with.
- 56:40Speaker 6: Gambling AND i THINK i think your point is perfectly.
- 56:43Speaker 6: RIGHT i just think.
- 56:44Speaker 7: That but if we're going to we're going to apply
- 56:46Speaker 7: the the the the gambling rules are okay for the
- 56:50Speaker 7: w n B, a then we need to lessen it
- 56:52Speaker 7: with THE nba as.
- 56:53Speaker 6: Well we can't have a double. Standard we can't.
- 56:55Speaker 7: Agree we, can't you, know take these guys and every
- 56:58Speaker 7: little thing that they do person keep and prosecute. Them
- 57:01Speaker 7: when it comes To gamelan and thedn't let them get
- 57:03Speaker 7: away with, It Scott.
- 57:04Speaker 1: Free to your, point whether it was four hundred dollars
- 57:06Speaker 1: and ten, dollars they probably should have been, punished, right
- 57:09Speaker 1: particularly LIKE i, SAID i assume because it Was All
- 57:11Speaker 1: star they were talking About All. Star but if you're
- 57:14Speaker 1: talking about the upcoming, game they probably should have been.
- 57:16Speaker 3: Suspended, YEAH i mean's not, fined and and then that
- 57:22Speaker 3: that's what that's usually what it's going to be is
- 57:23Speaker 3: a fine, fine but come, on if they're joking about this,
- 57:27Speaker 3: now are you saying this is the first time this
- 57:31Speaker 3: has ever? Happened, No, no this is this is. Something
- 57:34Speaker 3: this is a regular deal here to, Me And i'm
- 57:37Speaker 3: not saying it has to be millions or thousands of.
- 57:40Speaker 3: Dollars but somebody's talking about this.
- 57:43Speaker 6: ALL i think they realized it was.
- 57:45Speaker 7: Wrong would you let somebody video you doing that if
- 57:47Speaker 7: you THOUGHT i were not doing something?
- 57:49Speaker 1: Wrong or they just talked this is just the normal motive,
- 57:52Speaker 1: operations like coach, said and they just they the camera
- 57:55Speaker 1: was a sort of background on. It SO i don't, know,
- 57:58Speaker 1: MAN i, mean LIKE i, SAID i just it's hard
- 58:00Speaker 1: for me to sit and just have all this punitive
- 58:03Speaker 1: action when this is who we are as a society
- 58:06Speaker 1: and who we are as a.
- 58:07Speaker 3: League, now, yeah BECAUSE i, mean at the end of the, day,
- 58:11Speaker 3: man you you're accepting all the gambling places to sponsor,
- 58:19Speaker 3: You SO i should be able to be around a, sponsor, Right,
- 58:25Speaker 3: like if you're a sponsored in THE nfl and you're
- 58:27Speaker 3: a gambling, SOURCE i can't go to the gambling, source,
- 58:33Speaker 3: RIGHT i MEAN i could go, there and ONCE i get,
- 58:36Speaker 3: There i've already got my.
- 58:37Speaker 2: Money why CAN'T i Bet.
- 58:38Speaker 1: Yeah and it's, like AND i would say, that like
- 58:41Speaker 1: to make a comparison like, Alcohol like if you have
- 58:43Speaker 1: an alcohol, problem they can't just throw you. Out they're
- 58:45Speaker 1: gonna you have to get. Treated me you have to
- 58:48Speaker 1: there's steps in processes to. This so to your, Point,
- 58:50Speaker 1: LISA i don't think now we should have just just
- 58:54Speaker 1: punitive mindset when it comes to these. Things we have
- 58:57Speaker 1: to have a much more liberal and rehabilitate of approach
- 59:01Speaker 1: in an addressing these issues when they come.
- 59:03Speaker 2: Up so all, right well that was a good.
- 59:07Speaker 3: One, well ladies and, gentlemen we're gonna get out of
- 59:10Speaker 3: here and we will see you again next week
