Wildfires rage across the Superior National Forest, with over 1,000 firefighters battling flames that’ve scorched more than 72,000 acres between the U.S. and Canada. While some areas northwest of Echo Trail are reopening and the Boundary Waters will welcome visitors July 27th, evacuations and tension remain. The massive Bear Trap fire (37,780 acres, 34% contained) is being fought with firebreak trails, while the Thumb fire (16,000+ acres, 58% contained) is under control thanks to specialized crews.
