- 1:01Episode 138 tonight, as we mentioned last week, we're going
- 1:07to cover holidays and the Christmas OT period, which is
- 1:13coming up pretty quickly here. How was your week, Josh?
- 1:17Oh, my week was just lovely. Still in truck roulette, except
- 1:21this time we moved into the S&D today and they let us do a a
- 1:30tour Thursday evening to come and look and see how the
- 1:34facilities laid out and where our cases are and everything.
- 1:36And I noticed that one of my labels is messed up and peeled
- 1:42partly peeled off. So the DSS guy who's on friends
- 1:45with I told him he had 36 hours, which would have been Saturday
- 1:48morning to fix it. And he got it fixed.
- 1:52And then I until I was started casing yesterday morning that on
- 1:57one of my shelves they're missing 1 address because I
- 2:01don't know if they overlap the stickers or what.
- 2:05And then on the next rotation down, I'm missing a whole strip
- 2:10of addresses. So and I said something to him
- 2:13I'm like missing. So he was going to order.
- 2:16He says, you know what, I'm just ordering a whole new set.
- 2:19So I adjusted the spacing on some of my addresses because I
- 2:23know that they get lots of mail to instead of 1 to 2 inch slots
- 2:27since I have a lot of extra space now since they gave me an
- 2:30extra half wing and he's just getting whole new labels for the
- 2:33whole case which will be a beautiful thing.
- 2:36Meow, how was your week? My week was OK today, I've just
- 2:40been dealing with a sick kiddo so that hasn't been too fun.
- 2:43But yeah, he's doing. He's doing better though.
- 2:47It's not too too bad but no bad case labels.
- 2:53But I think I just ordered a set of labels for my case.
- 2:57I usually try and like once a month find a section that's real
- 3:02bad or I know that like all the names have changed and switch
- 3:06them out. But trying to think of what
- 3:08happened this week. Oh it was we had the holiday.
- 3:13We had like 2 Mondays and and I was real optimistic that
- 3:18Wednesday wasn't going to be that bad and then Wednesday
- 3:21kicked my ass. Like it's like this was worse
- 3:26than Monday. But my mail volumes up from this
- 3:32time last year. I have my radar report from last
- 3:34year so I can see that, but parcels are kind of on the
- 3:40lighter side still. But from what I was told my my
- 3:44relief days are is Friday. But apparently Friday there was
- 3:47like no mail. So I'm a little Jelly that I got
- 3:51to miss that out or out on that because yesterday I got kicked
- 3:55kicked again with a bunch of bundles and a full coverage in
- 3:59the DPS. And yeah, not not to the male
- 4:02gods have not been they're they're kind to me in the volume
- 4:06aspect that it'll help my route go back up to 46 K hopelessly.
- 4:11But my arms and my legs hurt. And then at the end of my route
- 4:17yesterday I bumped the knob for my my heater and air
- 4:23conditioning knob in my mattress and it just went poop and popped
- 4:27off. And I like was very upset, not
- 4:32crying upset but I'm like please I hope they can get it fixed
- 4:37really quick. But the knob didn't break fully
- 4:40but and I saved it. So usually the the VMF guy, I'm
- 4:45hoping maybe he can just pop it back on and we'll be OK instead
- 4:49of it having to go to the dealership or something.
- 4:51So we shall see. But.
- 4:55Did you remember to put that finger on ice?
- 4:57My finger on ice. Oh, the oh, the the knob, Yeah.
- 5:01The knob. Yeah, it's sitting right there
- 5:03next to it in the little cubby, along with the protective shield
- 5:07that went over it that fell off over the summer because it was
- 5:11too hot and it melted off and and popped off.
- 5:14So hopefully he can get me a new one.
- 5:17I wrote it up when I got back, so we'll see you tomorrow if if
- 5:21he can fix it for me. But how was your week, Kristen?
- 5:25Oh, Monday sucked. Monday was DPS hell and a half
- 5:31and then Wednesday, well, we know Wednesday was male wise was
- 5:37pretty average. I was kind of surprised.
- 5:41Parcels yeah, it was like a Monday level.
- 5:45I had like 50 more than I actually had on Monday but DPS
- 5:50wise. And then I worked yesterday my K
- 5:52day and that was Flatmageddon walk in and went well.
- 5:59So much for an easy Saturday though.
- 6:03It was the lightest DPS I've had all week with two trays.
- 6:07And then I found out one of my streets they're changing the
- 6:10name of the street which I had no clue about to the postmaster
- 6:14left me a note. So I was talking to her about it
- 6:16because I guess customers were calling her about it.
- 6:19And it's like I got to have the proper documentation before it
- 6:24can get changed, you know, in our system.
- 6:26And I guess it's been an ongoing battle.
- 6:28But, you know, the street signs even changed.
- 6:31So at least the house numbers aren't changing, just the road
- 6:35name. So this will be interesting when
- 6:37it does actually occur. But other than that, yeah, I
- 6:43don't know why I guess it was. I mean, there's only 1/2 4567
- 6:49residences on this road anyways. And something, the road across
- 6:56the, the, the Main Street, just a side, a little side road and
- 7:01but it's kind of kicked to the side, but it's got the same name
- 7:04as the road across the street. So it's not directly.
- 7:07My town was weird when naming roads and stuff.
- 7:10Let me tell you on how they did it.
- 7:11I mean, you've got 3 routes that have a road with the same name
- 7:15on it, yet they're in completely different parts of the town.
- 7:17So I don't ask. Clerks still don't understand it
- 7:23half the time. And so this will be even more.
- 7:26Fun, huh? Did the did the county change
- 7:29that? No, well, postmasters waiting on
- 7:34the the the county to get back to her so she can submit the
- 7:38changes into AMS. And yeah, the customers and
- 7:42stuff have already been calling her about it.
- 7:44And I was like, this is the first time you've been hearing
- 7:48about it. And she's like, yeah, I guess
- 7:49they changed the road sign and everything already.
- 7:52I'm like the street name sign. She's like, yeah.
- 7:54So next day I kind of looked up and went, Oh yeah, it is
- 7:59changed. OK.
- 8:03I had one one time on my on my my old route, they were like a
- 8:08County Road name and then they changed it to some something
- 8:13else and then midway through they went, no, we're going to
- 8:16change it again to this other because it the road like did
- 8:20like an L and the L like the the part that went WEW.
- 8:25They wanted that to be another name, so those people had to
- 8:29submit it and I had like 3 addresses and then each of the
- 8:33customers had to put in forwards from the old address.
- 8:39It was a it was a nightmare and it'll be like that for years.
- 8:42You're going to get random mail for that.
- 8:44Yeah, I, I know like. That for years I.
- 8:47Mean that's going to confuse any Subs, you know, that aren't
- 8:51familiar with my route or it. It's just kind of cracks me up
- 8:55'cause I guess initially what we're going to do.
- 8:56She told me when she has new labels printed, when it's
- 8:59officially changed, she's going to have both Rd. names up there.
- 9:02I'm like, OK, good. Whatever.
- 9:05Works. You know it'll be like in
- 9:07parentheses. It'll have the old address.
- 9:09Well, that's like a while back ago, long before my time in this
- 9:14office, they changed St. numbers for a part of my route.
- 9:20So some of them that used to be like 384 or 399 or now
- 9:25899-880-4221's, now 720-1213's now 701, two O 9 is now 7 or
- 9:35excuse me, seven O 5 and two O 1 is 7 or two O 9 is now seven O
- 9:401. So that was like a permanent
- 9:42forward that was entered into the system.
- 9:44So I'll still get, I mean, this is years later, I'm still
- 9:48getting, you know, something will hit it just right to where
- 9:52the old number and it'll pop up and you still see the forward
- 9:54spray on there. And yeah.
- 9:57Oh my gosh. Oh yeah.
- 9:58So this is going to be another instance of that probably
- 10:01happening. Yep, got to love being a real
- 10:05carrier. And this is all, you know, this
- 10:09is all part of my quote UN quote in town stuff.
- 10:12So I guess the reasonings for the residents wanting to change
- 10:16the street name because it was confusing people because of the
- 10:21other side. And it's not like a direct
- 10:24intersection. So from the other side of the
- 10:27street, I'm thinking, oh, that would probably be FedEx or
- 10:29Amazon that can't deliver right. So we're going from Weir Road to
- 10:36Hilldale Lane. That will be interesting.
- 10:42But you know, I, like I said, my town's really weird with the way
- 10:45it has. We, we have one section on
- 10:48another route that, you know, it's like 1 big.
- 10:50I wouldn't even call it a square, but it's like a funky
- 10:53circle where you kind of go around the whole thing and each
- 10:56side of it. So when you pull it, So when you
- 10:59could turn in down the side street off the main road, and
- 11:02you get to this road now that goes all the way around and you
- 11:05turn left. So you know instinctively,
- 11:09normally you know you would turn right, but no, you got to turn
- 11:11left. And that road has one name and
- 11:14then when it curves around, it has another name.
- 11:17And then when it curves around on the backside again, it's yet
- 11:19another name, and yet a fourth name when it curves back around
- 11:22on the other side. Of course.
- 11:25Or, or you've got the ones that have the road, the road you
- 11:29know, will be facing east, West. So when you turn down that road,
- 11:33the road numbers are one, but it may curve around to now where
- 11:36it's going North and South. So now it's got a whole
- 11:39different set of numbers. So you're going from 7 thousands
- 11:42to 2000s and then back to seven thousands again when it curves
- 11:46back around. Yeah, it's a mess.
- 11:50Yeah, it is. It really, really is in some
- 11:54ways, I don't know, the counties around here are messed up.
- 11:57We've got our our POV route. The within the last couple years
- 12:03they had clean it, cleared a bunch of land and put a road in
- 12:07and it, I don't even know if the road name was up for a while,
- 12:12but now there's, they're like 6 acre lots or whatever and it's a
- 12:17totally different county than what our office is in and
- 12:20everything else. But I'm I'm able actually just
- 12:23popped up right near the entrance to the road and it had
- 12:27the main road number on it. And carrier actually went and
- 12:31talked to the people the other day.
- 12:32Yeah, that county has absolutely no clue what they're doing
- 12:35either 'cause they're like next to the last lot all the way to
- 12:39the back down this what is now called Marlin Trail.
- 12:43Yet the county told them their address was on F30, you know
- 12:47something stupid like that. So.
- 12:50Oh. My God, yeah.
- 12:51So now these poor young people that just relocated from out of
- 12:55state up here are don't know what the Hell's going on, you
- 13:00know? And he's like, yeah, just go up
- 13:01there and tell them this. And if they're that idiots, just
- 13:04tell them they're idiots. Yeah, yeah, seriously.
- 13:09Like, come on. Oh, I mean it, it gets worse.
- 13:13I mean, they've got one address on one Rd. that, you know, all
- 13:18the numbers are going down as you go up the road, but then
- 13:22you've got one and then it jumps back up.
- 13:24So you go like it's like 4169 on ones or no 40, it's 40, let's
- 13:32see, 4100. So it's like 4079 or something
- 13:36on the one side going up. And then the next house that's
- 13:39on the same side of the road is 4027, but the one in between
- 13:45that's on the opposite side of the road is 4180 and every.
- 13:48Yeah. I wish that I wish that the
- 13:50county assessors when they when people are building would
- 13:55communicate with like postal workers and EMS, like emergency
- 14:00response so that it's great and like it's just, oh, OK, this
- 14:05makes sense. But one that I used to do as an
- 14:09RCA was the corner lot of a cul-de-sac.
- 14:13So originally they gave the the Main Street address and then
- 14:19changed it to the cul-de-sac address, you know, an address
- 14:23for the cul-de-sac, which are two completely numbered
- 14:27different number sequences. And this was this point is, you
- 14:32know, 20-30 years ago and they'll still get mail with an
- 14:37address for the main Rd. And if you didn't know it and
- 14:40the the regular do you have it notated that that was, you know,
- 14:45that address was either or. But if you didn't know, you
- 14:49would just think it was a no such number.
- 14:51Oh yeah, it's it's weird. Yeah, you would think that they
- 14:55would all, and then to say in this, this county and the
- 14:58Township they're in, trust me, are, are real idiots to work
- 15:01with as well. They've been known to tell
- 15:05customers where to put their mailboxes.
- 15:08Yeah, they, they, they told this guy where to put his mailbox.
- 15:11And you know, of course mail carriers like, no, you need to
- 15:14move it cause #1 they're going to start bringing in modular
- 15:18homes and that, that, that suckers are going to get taken
- 15:20out where it's located right now 'cause I'll tell you that right
- 15:23now. It'll get taken out.
- 15:25He goes, no, he goes. They don't tell you where it
- 15:27goes. We do.
- 15:31Yep, Yep. Yeah, these poor kids.
- 15:34I Oh, boy. Yeah, He he ended up giving him
- 15:39his phone number. If you got any problems with
- 15:41them, get a hold of me. I'll take care of it.
- 15:44But do you have the intersection of Queen City Blvd. and Queen
- 15:49City Blvd. No, like an actual cross
- 15:53intersection. Can't say that I did there.
- 15:56In in town somewhere and that might not be the exact street
- 16:00name, but in town there's a couple of cross streets that
- 16:06both the north what north-south and east West have the same
- 16:11street name. Lovely.
- 16:12So great. So, all right, so tonight we're
- 16:17talking about the Christmas overtime period and holiday
- 16:25working rules. So let's get into that.
- 16:28Let me pull up the holiday language for it.
- 16:33So, so a lot of the information that we're going over again,
- 16:37it's in the contract, the sacred texts, you know, but article
- 16:45the, the, the old scrolls. Yeah, hey, they're new scrolls
- 16:48now. They're new scrolls.
- 16:51They got new text, but Article 11 of the contract is all about
- 16:58holidays and if you know the government decides that there is
- 17:04other designated holidays, The contract still is what is it
- 17:09supersedes everything more. Most recently, I know Juneteenth
- 17:13became a national holiday and it was ended and then eventually
- 17:20there was like postal guidance and then it was worked into the
- 17:24next contract that we have. So Section 1 is holidays
- 17:28observed. So we have 11 paid holidays each
- 17:33year. If you're a regular carrier and
- 17:37they're there's they're sorry. Holidays observed and New Year's
- 17:43Day, Martin Luther King Junior's birthday, President's Day,
- 17:48Memorial Day, Juneteenth National Independence Day,
- 17:52Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day,
- 17:58Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day and then Section 2 payment.
- 18:03A regular rule carrier whose regular scheduled work day falls
- 18:07on a holiday will not be required to work and will be
- 18:11paid at the daily rate for that day.
- 18:14When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday
- 18:18shall be observed as the holiday, which.
- 18:20I don't think we've had one for a few years.
- 18:23It's been a bit. What's that like a like a
- 18:26holiday fell on a Sunday? Yeah, it's.
- 18:29Christmas of 23. I think I'd have to go back and
- 18:34look at the calendar. Yeah, it's been it's been a
- 18:37little bit when a holiday. So Section B of this Section 2
- 18:43dot B, when a holiday falls on the relief day of an evaluated
- 18:48carrier, the carrier shall be granted the preceding work day
- 18:53as a designated holiday. When the primary, and I'm going
- 18:58to just finish reading this before we kind of go more in
- 19:00depth. When the primary leave
- 19:02replacement is unavailable on the carrier's designated holiday
- 19:07and other leave replacements are unavailable in accordance with
- 19:11Article 30.2 dot D, the regular carrier may be scheduled to work
- 19:16on the designated holiday. For the purposes of this
- 19:19section, A leave replacement is considered unavailable when he
- 19:23or she is assigned to work on any regular or auxiliary route.
- 19:28A regular rule carrier required to work on a designated holiday
- 19:32shall receive the daily rate of pay for such day in addition to
- 19:38holiday leave pay to which the employee is entitled.
- 19:42If a regular role carrier is required to work on the
- 19:46designated Christmas holiday. And I'm going to repeat that.
- 19:49If a regular role carrier is required to work on the
- 19:52designated Christmas holiday, such carrier shall receive 1 1/2
- 19:57times the daily rate of pay in addition to the holiday leave
- 20:01pay. And then section C of that
- 20:06effective beginning with the 2023 Presidents Day holiday.
- 20:09So. I'm surprised they didn't just,
- 20:12like, admit that when they updated this new contract, but
- 20:15that's fine. Regular roll carriers who work
- 20:18their holiday at their option may elect to have their annual
- 20:23leave balance credited with one day of annual leave or or
- 20:28receive the holiday pay to which the carrier is entitled above.
- 20:32D Regular carriers shall not perform auxiliary assistance on
- 20:36any designated holiday or actual holiday.
- 20:40EA Leave replacement may be utilized to perform duties on a
- 20:44holiday and will be paid actual hours worked.
- 20:48F Deferred Holiday leave credited in accordance with
- 20:52Section 2C above will be subject to all applicable rules for
- 20:57requesting and scheduling Annual leave and shall be combined with
- 21:01Annual leave and counted as annual leave for the purposes of
- 21:04annual leave carryover. So, and do you want me to?
- 21:07There's the I'll just read this N bit too before I go into
- 21:10depth. So Section 3, part time flexible
- 21:14rule carriers and substitute carriers.
- 21:16So I have a lot of people who ask me like, oh, do the RC AS or
- 21:19the PTFS get holiday leave like the regulars do.
- 21:22And the answer is no, in accordance with what I just
- 21:25read. But this next section kind of it
- 21:28just pertains to the PTFS. The holiday pay for a part time
- 21:32flexible rule carrier or substitute rule carrier is
- 21:35included in the daily rate. For a part time flexible rule
- 21:38carrier or substitute serving a six day route, the daily rate of
- 21:43of the route is determined by dividing the annual salary by
- 21:47301. For serving AJ route, the daily
- 21:50rate is determined by dividing the annual salary by 275.
- 21:54For serving AK route, the daily rate is determined by dividing
- 21:57the annual salary by 249. For a part time flexible row
- 22:01carrier or substitute who is compensated on an hourly basis,
- 22:05the hourly rate is determined by dividing the annual salary by
- 22:091992. So the holiday pay per SE is
- 22:18calculated into the PTFS hourly rate.
- 22:23So let's back up here now a little bit more here.
- 22:27So a couple of these holidays that we have like Martin Luther
- 22:32King Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and
- 22:38Columbus Day. Well, well, so presidents.
- 22:42So Martin Luther King Day, President's Day, Memorial Day,
- 22:45Labor Day, Columbus Day are all Monday holidays.
- 22:50Unless that it changes New Year's Day.
- 22:53What else is it? Juneteenth.
- 22:55Independence Day. Veterans.
- 22:57Day and. Christmas.
- 22:59Thanks. Are are are, yeah, are arbitrary
- 23:03to the year, and Thanksgiving is usually what, the last Thursday
- 23:06of November? They they are to the date.
- 23:10Thanksgiving is the 4th to the date that they occur.
- 23:13Thanksgiving is the 4th Thursday of November, which usually is
- 23:18the last one, but not always. So a lot of the time the because
- 23:25we have 5 Monday holidays, the Monday people would get the day
- 23:31before, which would be Saturday working Saturday.
- 23:36And what would happen if you know, or let's say like it was
- 23:40Saturday, you get the day off before the holiday.
- 23:44Now when management scheduling, typically it's cheaper for them
- 23:51to pay just to to work the holiday people because there's
- 23:57really no like entitlement to overtime.
- 24:00And like what I read the regulars who work on their
- 24:04designated holiday will be paid just their daily rate of pay and
- 24:09their holiday pay unless they choose to do that.
- 24:14DACA, it's DACA V for working your holiday or DACA G for
- 24:20working your holiday and wanting to be credited with another day
- 24:23of annual leave. Some people mix up working on
- 24:27their holiday thinking that you're getting time and a half
- 24:30like the DACA 5 and the only holiday that you technically
- 24:37will get that in a sense, even though it's not necessarily
- 24:41called that, is Christmas. So if you worked like your
- 24:44designated Christmas, you're getting the time and a half.
- 24:49Does that make sense? Yeah.
- 24:51The gist of it is, is that if the holiday falls on your relief
- 24:54day, your relief day does not change.
- 24:56I think that's what confuses everybody.
- 24:59Your relief day is still less veteran's day Tuesday.
- 25:03You have a relief day on Tuesday.
- 25:05So technically you should have Monday off as your holiday.
- 25:08That's not going to be your relief day.
- 25:12Your relief day still Tuesday, even though it's a paid holiday.
- 25:15Yes, if you are somebody who has the Friday, Saturday, rotating
- 25:21relief day then you would get the Thursday and like let's say
- 25:25a holiday fell on either Friday or the Saturday then you would
- 25:30get the Thursday off before it. So it's.
- 25:33Always the one if it's if it's the week that that's that it
- 25:37fell to you. Yes, a lot of people also mix up
- 25:42well. I have a sub, Why am I getting
- 25:46mandated to work my holiday? And the language that I just
- 25:50read basically if if management needs to work the they're going
- 25:55to work the holiday people before.
- 25:57If they don't have enough Subs, typically they're going to work
- 26:00the holiday people before and then it would end up after that,
- 26:05which because this happens all the time too, then they'll end
- 26:07up working probably the release day work list and then mandate.
- 26:11And if they're mandating people to work their designated
- 26:14holiday, it's by juniority. And I don't think it's, I mean,
- 26:18I don't know if there's volunteers, but in that regard
- 26:21trying to think on that one. Well, they could they they can
- 26:26request a volunteer before they mandate.
- 26:29Yeah, but they still that's there's still good.
- 26:32Mandate like minority, right? Yeah, just like they could bring
- 26:36in someone else to really they work with, but it's cheaper to
- 26:40have a holiday person working their decimated holiday than to
- 26:44bring someone in, even if they're not on the list.
- 26:48Yeah. And getting a next, you know a
- 26:51code 3 the next day. Yeah.
- 26:53And I, I know there's a lot of people that get, oh, the only
- 26:58way for them to not mandate you would be that you'd have leave
- 27:02in conjunction with your relief day and then you could get
- 27:05bypassed, but you have to have the leave in conjunction and
- 27:09have it be approved and, and all that jazz.
- 27:12I'm trying to think of what else?
- 27:14Oh, there's a lot of people too that mix up the to add another
- 27:18layer to this, the we there's the MOU that allows regulars to
- 27:23work on Sundays. That MOU is specific only to
- 27:28Sunday. It does not include the holiday
- 27:32Amazon. That or the working like the
- 27:35Subs that are working it it it there is nothing that they they
- 27:40had a separate MOU during COVID that was specific to utilizing
- 27:45regulars on holidays. So I.
- 27:48Just I just want to, I remember that was only two of the
- 27:51holidays they did that. Yeah.
- 27:54So that MOU is is specific to Sundays only and during the rest
- 27:59of the delivery week, not holidays.
- 28:02Article 11 here still supersedes working on which on holidays.
- 28:08This comment here. How about currently Monday K day
- 28:14holiday becomes Saturday. So if you take off Friday, I
- 28:18don't I, I I'd have to see if there's any actual language, but
- 28:22I don't think there's any language protecting you from
- 28:26your designated holiday versus your relief day.
- 28:32I think that it would concurrence.
- 28:34I think you it it's still not in concurrence with your relief day
- 28:38because your holiday moves your it's, but your relief day
- 28:42doesn't. So you if leave in conjunction
- 28:44in that scenario I think would be Tuesday.
- 28:48But. But if you really wanted.
- 28:51To you would have to take Friday through Tuesday.
- 28:54To protect it. Or Friday to Monday to get that,
- 28:57to get that Saturday off, to guarantee that Saturday off.
- 29:00Leaving conjunction with Relief Day, yeah.
- 29:03Yeah. So and I can pull, I'll pull up
- 29:05language and we could, we could touch on it again next week too,
- 29:09so that I have the specifics. So don't at me if I'm wrong.
- 29:13I, I'll correct it if I'm wrong. Yeah, like, how dare you.
- 29:17But I'll, I, I'll pull up this for the purposes of this.
- 29:21I did not pull up that. And, and sometimes I it's funny
- 29:24how you could be talking. About one.
- 29:26Thing it is. You could be talking about.
- 29:29One subject and then remember like 20 other things with that
- 29:33subject that go down other paths that you don't think of until
- 29:38the moment of, you know, so great.
- 29:41And and X days count like leave days When it comes to the relief
- 29:46day and holidays, yes we're using an X day.
- 29:49It's the same rules as it applies as the same as rules as
- 29:54annual and sick leave. Yes.
- 29:57And yeah, I've seen. I know there's not a lot of
- 29:59people. Well, maybe there is.
- 30:01I don't know. Maybe there's more.
- 30:02Now I have a lot of, there's like 5 people off in my office
- 30:05on Mondays and the couple of them have used that DACA G and
- 30:10one of the times they got pretty mad because they wanted to pay.
- 30:13And I'm like, then why did you write and ask for a DACA G to
- 30:17get that day of annual? But it, it's not with, with the
- 30:22provisions of that. It's not like an X day where it
- 30:24shows you an X day balance on your pay stub.
- 30:26It will plus you an extra day of annual, which I, I actually
- 30:32think I like that more than the X day because it at least you
- 30:36don't, it's not sitting there and like like right now.
- 30:41Once we get into this Christmas overtime period stuff, beginning
- 30:44of the guarantee or stuff you can't use previously or index
- 30:48days unless it was earned at the same pay period.
- 30:50You can use a previously earned annual leave day from you know.
- 30:55Yeah, exactly. Labor Day it.
- 30:57Carries over and it's not doesn't have a time limits on
- 31:02it, Yeah. Yep.
- 31:03So any the. Same way.
- 31:05Any X days that you earned from October 4th?
- 31:10I'm sorry, October 3rd or earlier are locked until
- 31:16December 27th. Yes, I was just looking at the
- 31:20calendar just to make sure. Yes, so.
- 31:24So it's right into Christmas overtime.
- 31:26Yes it does. So the 2025 Christmas period for
- 31:31rule carriers begins Saturday, December 6th, which is Week 2
- 31:37pay period 26th of 2025 and ends Friday, December 26th, 2025.
- 31:45Week 2 pay period 1 of 2026 During this period certain time
- 31:51keeping and payrolls apply Time keepers including postmasters,
- 31:55supervisors and other responsible other employees
- 31:58responsible for rural carriers and attendance recording must
- 32:02become familiar with Article 9.2 dot H Christmas allowance and
- 32:07procedures of handbook EL9O2 which is the contract.
- 32:12Each year the Postal Service will release this bulletin
- 32:16that's located on the Union website and it's a Postal
- 32:20Bulletin 22687. This year it came out on October
- 32:2516th and it'll describe the types of compensation that rule
- 32:31carriers are entitled during the Christmas period.
- 32:35And then like time keeping things for management and
- 32:39special rules that begin at the beginning of the guarantee year,
- 32:42which was October 4th, 2025. And it will continue through the
- 32:47end of the Christmas period, December 26th, 2025.
- 32:51It's kind of nice this year because Christmas is actually
- 32:55included. We've we're making it this
- 32:59because there's been other times where it doesn't always end up
- 33:01that way. It is, you know, and it's always
- 33:07the first Saturday of December and it goes for 21 days 3.
- 33:11Weeks. Yep.
- 33:12So hence why it starts Week 2 and then it's yeah, it's it's
- 33:18funky. It's like a pay period and a
- 33:20half yeah. And the preferred method of time
- 33:23keeping entries is role management support system, which
- 33:27is RMSS. And this it just like has
- 33:30exhibits in it Overtime during the Christmas period The There
- 33:37is two different types of overtime during the Christmas
- 33:41period. Regular rule carriers are
- 33:42eligible for the following two types of overtime AFLSA
- 33:47overtime, which is Fair Labor Standards Act overtime and B
- 33:51Christmas overtime. FLSA overtime is overtime is
- 33:57paid at all times of the year, not just during the Christmas
- 33:59period. Regular rule carriers are paid
- 34:02FLSA overtime under 2 circumstances.
- 34:06Hours worked in excess of 12 hours in a day.
- 34:10If a carrier works more than 12 hours in a day, the amount over
- 34:1412 is entered into daily overtime block on PS41314 and
- 34:20then B hours worked in excess of 56 in a week.
- 34:25These hours are calculated automatically when the total
- 34:27weekly work hours are greater than 56.
- 34:30No separate entries are required.
- 34:32And that 56 hours, no, just sorry about that meal.
- 34:36That 56 hours is all six days. So even if you're a 55 day a
- 34:43week K route it, it does include six days.
- 34:46And I know this for a fact 'cause I got screwed out of
- 34:49getting the next day because I went 56 point, 37 hours and
- 34:57couldn't get my X day because of that working that Saturday.
- 35:02And I mean, I got paid the overtime for it, so I wasn't
- 35:05complaining. I ended up with the deck of five
- 35:07and whatnot, but I really wanted the X day.
- 35:10So I was really screwed out of that X day.
- 35:12So yeah, it is 56 hours for all six days.
- 35:16Yeah. And when, when you hit it,
- 35:18because I've there's been one time where I I worked my K day
- 35:22and I ended up working Sunday and like during COVID a few
- 35:25years back. And I did go over and typically
- 35:30when that happens, your pay stub will say FLSA overtime.
- 35:34It's like it's golden on there and it's notated.
- 35:41So then the, and even like let's say that you on, you got like
- 35:46screwed on a Monday and you went, you worked over the 12
- 35:50hours, then you would be getting that FLSA overtime there too.
- 35:54So, so then the second-half is Christmas overtime.
- 35:59Christmas overtime is paid only during the designated Christmas
- 36:02period which was again December 6th through December 26th of
- 36:102025. For this for the sake of this
- 36:13and regular rule, carriers are paid Christmas overtime under 2
- 36:17circumstances. A Christmas assistance.
- 36:21This is assistance provided by the regular carrier on his or
- 36:25her relief day. Christmas assistance work hours
- 36:29are entered in the Xmas assist work hours block of PS Form
- 36:341314. So that's like if you came in
- 36:38and ran parcels for your route on your relief day.
- 36:43And then B hours worked in excess of the routes evaluation
- 36:47is based on the total actual work hours for the week, not on
- 36:53individual days. And I'm going to read this
- 36:55again. Hours worked in excess of the
- 36:58routes evaluation is based on the total actual work hours for
- 37:04the week, not on individual days.
- 37:08For example, if a route has a daily evaluation of nine hours
- 37:12and the regular carrier works 10 hours on two days and eight
- 37:16hours on the other 3, no overtime would be paid.
- 37:21Even though the carriers exceeded the daily evaluation on
- 37:24two of the week, 2 days of the week, they did not exceed the
- 37:28weekly evaluation. The weekly evaluation is 45
- 37:31hours. The carrier worked 44 hours.
- 37:35And if you have questions about that part, see Handbook F21
- 37:40which is the Time and Attendance Manual section 567 for overtime
- 37:45calculation when leave days are taken during the week and for
- 37:49routes when an with an evaluation of less than 40
- 37:53hours. These hours are calculated
- 37:55automatically so no separate entries or calculations are
- 37:58required. So I my route is A45K.
- 38:04So if I work 40 hours on my 5 days, I will not, I will only
- 38:10get paid for my 45 hours, my normal salary like I would the
- 38:14rest of the year. If let's say that one of the
- 38:18weeks during the Christmas overtime period, I work 47
- 38:21hours, then I will get paid my normal salary and then I will
- 38:26get 2 hours of overtime and I'll go over the overtime rate in
- 38:32just a second. Here.
- 38:34If like Josh, she's on A, you're on a 48K, he has to work 48
- 38:39hours in a week in order to get that.
- 38:42So if you're A and, same thing goes for the H and JS.
- 38:48And I can tell you the 10 years I've been on this route, I have
- 38:52probably gotten 6 hours of overtime during Christmas in 10
- 38:56years. This is the one time of year
- 38:58where management does whatever they can to make sure you don't
- 39:01go over your evaluation. Yeah.
- 39:04I just I stay under. Now.
- 39:08I stay under my evaluation most, most of the time and if I go
- 39:12over it's 1/2 hour here and now we're there for the week.
- 39:16Yeah. During Christ, you know, during
- 39:18Christmas. Yeah, the the first part, the
- 39:22Christmas assistance part, the, the people that are on H routes
- 39:28do not have the ability to do Christmas assistance because
- 39:32they don't have a relief day. But if you're on AJ route, you,
- 39:36you would, and typically like, you know, you're 40.
- 39:41If let's say you're, you're a 41J, so you were 44 hours, then
- 39:46you're getting 3 hours of overtime.
- 39:49So the overtime rates, the overtime rate paid to regular
- 39:55FLSA code B carriers is 150% of the carrier's regular rate.
- 40:03The regular rate is determined by dividing.
- 40:06Sorry, this is and I I remember, sorry, I'm going to I'm I'm
- 40:10giggling to myself because I there's like an episode.
- 40:13That you guys did like at like 2 years ago.
- 40:17I know exactly was going over there.
- 40:19Talking about yes. And he so I, I just, it was
- 40:24funny because I was. That was not the only time he
- 40:26brought that up. No, because it's it's
- 40:29frustrating and I'm going to OK. So sorry to be the chuckle to
- 40:33myself, but I could hear his voice saying it.
- 40:37So overtime rate. The over the overtime rate paid
- 40:41to regular FLSA Code B carriers is 150% of the carrier's regular
- 40:47rate. The regular rate is determined
- 40:52by dividing the total compensation received for hours
- 40:55actually worked by the carrier since the beginning of the
- 40:59guarantee year not including overtime by the total number of
- 41:04hours work since the begin beginning of the guarantee year
- 41:08not including overtime. This overtime rate is used for
- 41:12both FLSA overtime and Christmas overtime.
- 41:17So the for the sake of this right now, the beginning of the
- 41:21guarantee year was October 4th, right?
- 41:25Yes. So if yes want to go down that
- 41:29rabbit hole, you could go look at all your pay stubs since
- 41:33then, which is not very many and write down all of your actual
- 41:37hours not not evaluated, not overtime and determined what
- 41:45your FLSA overtime rate would be.
- 41:49And it can change. It can change from during these
- 41:54three weeks of the Christmas overtime period.
- 41:59And then to to make matters even more fun, the overtime rate is
- 42:03used for both FLSA overtime and Christmas overtime.
- 42:06So because of the MOU for utilizing regulars on providing
- 42:11auxiliary assistance and working on Sundays, that is also FLSA
- 42:15overtime rate. So like yesterday I went and I
- 42:18assisted on another route and worked and I, I don't know what
- 42:23my FLSA overtime rate is right now because I haven't gone down
- 42:27that rabbit hole myself. So just remember that that that
- 42:31number is going to fluctuate. It's not a true time and 1/2
- 42:35right And so. We're discussing this with other
- 42:37people. For example, you're working, you
- 42:39help one another route. Yes.
- 42:41Obviously you do, you do your route first, you come back, you
- 42:45clean up and on paper it's you say you did your route in four
- 42:50hours. Your daily rate of pay is $300.
- 42:54Let's say you take that $300.00 / 4, which is $75.00 an hour
- 43:00technically in the scenario, which means you have $75.00 at
- 43:06150%, which comes to 3750, which puts you at about $110.00 an
- 43:14hour for everything that you're doing on that other route in
- 43:18this scenario where you've only worked 4 hours for your route
- 43:20that day and then helped out elsewhere.
- 43:23So basically Long story short, if you're one of those that
- 43:29normally can run your route quickly and so the less hours
- 43:35you work then equals the more overtime that you would get
- 43:40under those rules, the higher overtime rate.
- 43:43Under assisting yes, yes, yes. So technically, even though they
- 43:48have this MO, this this memo, the you you do also have that
- 43:54caveat of regulars helping on other routes.
- 43:58So, OK, so replacement carriers Replacement carriers designation
- 44:047073747576777879 are only entitled to FLSA overtime for
- 44:13these employees. FLSA overtime is paid for hours
- 44:17worked in excess of 40 in a week.
- 44:20Regular carriers designation 1 FLSAA Regular carriers whose
- 44:25FLSA code is A are paid for actual hours worked, not
- 44:30evaluated hours. They are paid overtime for hours
- 44:33in excess of eight in a day or 40 in a week.
- 44:37So if you're like a regular, if you're like a new newly assigned
- 44:41regular and you chose hourly over eval, you would get, you
- 44:48would get the overtime over 40, not eval.
- 44:51And then hours in excess of 40 in a week are calculated
- 44:54automatically by the system, so by RMSS, auxiliary route
- 44:59carriers, so Subs RC as PTFS. This is really important to know
- 45:07if you are ever scheduled on an OX route during the Christmas
- 45:10overtime period. Carrier serving any auxiliary
- 45:13route are compensated at the hourly rate for actual hours
- 45:17during actual hours worked during Week 2 of pay period 26
- 45:23and both weeks of pay period 1/20/26 so Christmas overtime
- 45:28period. During this period, carriers are
- 45:31not paid the evaluation of the route, and I'm going to repeat
- 45:35that again because it's really important.
- 45:38During this period, carriers are not paid the evaluation of the
- 45:41route. Overtime is paid only when the
- 45:45carrier exceeds 40 hours for the week.
- 45:48So if you're on an ox route, that's 41 hours because I've
- 45:52seen this happen before and you're not.
- 45:55And let's say there's no mail during Christmas overtime, which
- 46:00has happened, then you're only going to be getting paid actual
- 46:04hours. And you if you don't go over 40,
- 46:06sorry, not even if you don't go over 40, you are getting actual
- 46:11no matter what. So I mean, if you're on a little
- 46:15baby ox route like we have in our office, that's evaluated at
- 46:192.67 hours a day. And most of us at the time, I
- 46:24mean, would run it within an hour, hour and a half total
- 46:28because it's a baby route and it's Christmas overtime.
- 46:32You're only going to get paid that hour and a.
- 46:34Half, yeah. Now if it's an ox route that is
- 46:38getting the volume and it still hasn't reflected in the eval of
- 46:43it, it could be in in your benefit where you know it's a 10
- 46:46hour or sorry it won't be a 10 hour.
- 46:49Let's say that there's a 20 hour OX route and it probably should
- 46:52be like 30 then that that that does work in your benefit so.
- 46:56Christmas. Yep, keep going.
- 47:00So Christmas assistance Christmas assistance is
- 47:03additional services provided on a rule route during the
- 47:06Christmas period. For regular rule carriers,
- 47:08Christmas assistance applies only to assistance given by the
- 47:12carrier on his or her relief day.
- 47:16Excuse me? While a a replacement carrier is
- 47:19assigned to work the full route. For replacement carriers, it
- 47:23applies to any assistance provided on a regular or
- 47:25auxiliary route during the Christmas period.
- 47:28Christmas assistance is reported in the Xmas Assist Work Hours
- 47:31block on PS Form 1314 for regular carriers or PS Form 1314
- 47:37A for replacement carriers. Regular carriers can perform
- 47:41Christmas assistance only on their relief day.
- 47:45Therefore, only regular carriers assigned to J or KS K routes may
- 47:51report Christmas assistance. Regular carriers assigns to
- 47:54route types H or N The one mileage route cannot perform
- 48:00Christmas assistance because these route types do not have a
- 48:03relief day and even in accordance with.
- 48:06Continue. In accordance with an agreement
- 48:09between the parties regular rule, carriers will perform
- 48:12service on Sunday or provide auxiliary assistance on other
- 48:16routes in the office. This is considered FLSA daily
- 48:19overtime, not Christmas assistance.
- 48:22That's actually pretty funny. I didn't know that they put that
- 48:24in here. These are examples of Christmas
- 48:26assistance. A regular carrier comes in on
- 48:28his or her relief day and helps the replacement carrier case the
- 48:31route. A regular carrier comes in on
- 48:33his or her relief day and carries part of his or her
- 48:37regular route. This part.
- 48:40A replacement carrier carries part of a regular route due to
- 48:43Christmas heavy Christmas volume.
- 48:46These are not these are not examples of Christmas
- 48:49assistance. A regular carrier comes in on
- 48:52their relief day and cases and carries their regular route.
- 48:55That would be DACA 3 or 5 or what's the other one or can't
- 49:01remember it are and a regular carrier works two hours beyond
- 49:06the daily evaluation of their regular route.
- 49:09A regular carrier performs any work while assigned to an H or
- 49:13an mileage route. OK, what were what were you
- 49:16going to say, Chris? And I was going to say, even
- 49:19though we have that MOU allowing you to assist on other routes,
- 49:22if you are coming in on your relief day to assist, you still
- 49:26can only assist on your assigned route as that is your release
- 49:31day and they can only pay you for your route on your relief
- 49:35day. That's your way of assisting is
- 49:37you cut that's that's you helping to free up a sub for
- 49:41something else that they another route they needed.
- 49:43Yep, and you know, we'll see what happens this this this year
- 49:47because this will be my Subs first Christmas.
- 49:50I have a. Feeling, I mean, it's gonna, I
- 49:52feel like there's yeah, I feel like well, and a lot of this too
- 49:57is, is, and I hate to say this, there's contractual provisions
- 50:01again, again about scheduling the order consideration, the
- 50:05relief day work list, all those other sorts of things that we've
- 50:08gone over before. But ultimately it is on
- 50:11management to manage this and, and if there's a good manager,
- 50:19you would think, and I, I say this every single year,
- 50:23Christmas comes at the same time each year, so.
- 50:26I don't. February, January, you should be
- 50:32higher in the Subs getting them already getting them familiar
- 50:36with the office and better about handling mail so that when
- 50:40Christmas comes and slaps us in the face, we are ready and that
- 50:45you are fully staffed and but that is not the case.
- 50:50The first Christmas that I worked, I had management decided
- 50:55they were going to have the Subs come in and they were going to.
- 50:57We were going to provide auxiliary assistance to keep the
- 50:59regulars under. Their evaluations are right at
- 51:02it and it only kind of worked. It was a it was a good we.
- 51:09Had just gotten Amazon so it it we the Subs that we all had
- 51:12hours, we were all pretty happy about it and management was able
- 51:17to manage things a little better, but that was the only
- 51:20time I ever saw it go like that so.
- 51:25My last Christmas as a sub I was the only sub.
- 51:28Nobody got any assistance because I was running an ox
- 51:31trail in another route every single day now.
- 51:33That's pretty much going to be what's.
- 51:35The one thing we haven't covered yet?
- 51:37And do you still have it coming up as second trips?
- 51:41Yeah. The only thing that I I've
- 51:44gotten, I think I've gotten assistance a handful of time in
- 51:47the last 10 years. But when I was in RCA, when we
- 51:50first when I first started, they would schedule the 2 starting
- 51:56Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, he would come
- 51:59in, he would chase ground and then carry another one and then
- 52:03he regularly come in and work their route that day.
- 52:07But how we did it when I first started in my old office is Subs
- 52:11have come in to run parcels. You know, we take parcel big,
- 52:16you know, extra partials off of other routes.
- 52:19We'd run two or three routes worth of parcels.
- 52:21And then as it got into like Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, we
- 52:25then would, once we got done with parcel routes, it was very
- 52:28common for us to pull down a section of another route that
- 52:32the regular carrier left and we would then go run that other
- 52:35that section of that route as well.
- 52:37That's how a lot of us learned other routes was running
- 52:40sections of routes during Christmas overtime.
- 52:43Yeah, yeah. But it's the thing you would
- 52:45come in, you would case what you would case the one route for the
- 52:48carrier for the 1 carrier for the 1 route and then you'd move
- 52:52over to another route. They send that regular home and
- 52:54you they also did have people come, you know some RCH come in
- 52:59and just run parcels and possibly take a section like you
- 53:03did in your office. When you have 70 plus routes and
- 53:0940 sub you can afford to do that you.
- 53:12Know what I mean? So it isn't.
- 53:13That was go on. No, you're OK.
- 53:15I'll let you finish your your thought.
- 53:16I'm sorry. I say yeah, with more 60%
- 53:20coverage, you can afford to rotate like that and send the
- 53:25regulars home or have them come in later to offset.
- 53:28Now, nowadays you can do that Thursday.
- 53:31Yeah, we don't have enough Subs. Last year as a sub, you were the
- 53:34only sub and you were holding down a route.
- 53:37My first Christmas as a regular I didn't have a sub so yeah,
- 53:41that's how that went. But no second trips.
- 53:48OK, so important items to remember rule carriers during
- 53:54the the Christmas pay procedures, hours entered in the
- 53:57daily overtime block are always included in the actual week
- 54:00hours. Hours entered in the Xmas sys
- 54:03block are never included in the actual weekly hours block
- 54:06because it's a it's an overtime rate.
- 54:07Carriers on auxiliary routes are paid for actual work hours, not
- 54:11the routes evaluation during the Christmas period.
- 54:14During the period from beginning front of the guarantee year,
- 54:17October 4th through the last day of the Christmas period, hours
- 54:23code O87 cannot be entered on a time card unless there is a
- 54:26corresponding oh and that's about X days and I'll go over
- 54:29that in a minute too. If actual hours exceeded 56 in a
- 54:33week a hour, there's different codes for that.
- 54:37If a regular roll carrier works his or her relief day and serves
- 54:41his or her assigned route, this is not reported as Christmas
- 54:44assistance. It would be the the the DACA
- 54:47codes and then second trip is not allowed during the Christmas
- 54:52period. Now not mean like not in the
- 54:55term of you actually going out and doing a second trip.
- 54:59If management's instructing you to do that, then you need to the
- 55:02pay of the three minutes a mile will not be calculated that way.
- 55:09All the hours that you're working are going into that
- 55:13evaluation, which could be good, could be bad.
- 55:17And I'll let you go over that more, Kristen.
- 55:21All right, also, if you're in APOV route during the Christmas
- 55:24overtime and you have to run a second trip, you do get that
- 55:29additional EMA mileage. You just don't get the three
- 55:32minutes a mile for the second trip.
- 55:35Yeah, but you do get the the additional EMA for those miles
- 55:38that you travelled. Also, let's cover how that would
- 55:42be done under Rex because. It's been a bit.
- 55:46Yes. Yes.
- 55:47Just please change gears the the EMA.
- 55:50Is that still anything over 40 miles?
- 55:54Yes, yes, 40 miles. For the I just.
- 55:57Yes. Right.
- 55:58I just wanted to throw that out there for the ones that.
- 56:00Weren't short, yeah, the short ones, yeah, yeah.
- 56:03And I think about, I mean, our, my, our one POV route's 95
- 56:08miles. So I don't even think about the,
- 56:09the 40. But yes, it is a yeah, minimum
- 56:1340 miles a day. But yeah, so if you go over the
- 56:1640, if you're on normally, you know, if you have a 20 mile
- 56:19route and a second trip's 10 mile, 10 miles, that's 30,
- 56:24you're not going to get the additional EMA.
- 56:26If you're going over 40 for the day, you will get the additional
- 56:29EMA. So for those routes that are 40
- 56:33miles and more over, you'll get the additional EMA.
- 56:38And I would still I just get in the habit of of notating it on
- 56:42your trip sheet on the 4240 or if you're if you're just
- 56:45providing auxiliary assistance, making sure that you're writing
- 56:48that on your greet card, EMA total this many miles.
- 56:52But if you're writing, you know, hey, I did a second trip.
- 56:55I know that like you can talk to management, but just notate on
- 57:00their additional trip, 40 miles or so.
- 57:04Let's do another 45 miles EMA and addition plus addition, you
- 57:10know, because normally if you're on APOV route and you sign that
- 57:13trip sheet, it will automatically pay it unless you
- 57:17management has to toggle it to to say otherwise.
- 57:21But just make sure that you're notating it and and keeping that
- 57:24documentation so that it's it's thorough in that even if even if
- 57:28you don't think that you're going to go over that 40 miles,
- 57:31even still writing that on there just so that it's record that
- 57:34you know, and it's a reference point for you to go back to also
- 57:38is good. Right.
- 57:39And the reason I bring, I brought it up is because you
- 57:43your daily trip for EMS is 40 miles.
- 57:46So even if your route is 15 miles total, you're getting paid
- 57:5140 miles for the day. Yeah, So, so the RX scans if you
- 57:56are making like second trips or if you're doing parcel runs for
- 58:01routes you and so let's say you got like a handful of parcels
- 58:06that are ready to go. And I, and I'm, I'll preface
- 58:09this before I say this, I know that it's Christmas time.
- 58:12I know that it's your your brain is just get those parcels done,
- 58:16get back to the office. The case, whatever it may be, it
- 58:20is still very vital. RX is 52 weeks of data and it's
- 58:27in and that includes Christmas and this Christmas over time
- 58:30period. So let's say that you have a
- 58:33half a hamper or whatever, you have a a gaggle of parcels that
- 58:36you're going to go and you're going to run.
- 58:38Make sure that same thing like you were doing your normal
- 58:43route, you hit start load, start pushing that hamper out to where
- 58:48to the vehicle, load all those parcels in and push that hamper
- 58:53back into the designated location and you hit and load
- 58:56vehicle. If you're making like let's say
- 58:59you have some giant Christmas present boxes that you're
- 59:04delivering and you're having to make 5 trips because they're and
- 59:08you can't carry one at a time. Or sorry, you could only carry
- 59:12one at a time. You can't carry multiple and one
- 59:15go safely. Then you would deliver each one
- 59:19and make sure they're all scanned as you're delivering
- 59:21them and then you would hit. When you're done with all of
- 59:24that delivering them, you will hit trip to RX scan trip to door
- 59:31and it'll ask you how many trips you make made and you will enter
- 59:345 as your total number of of trips that you made.
- 59:38If you are doing like a parcel run in the morning because
- 59:41management instructed you to do so.
- 59:43The the start load and the end load are the most important.
- 59:47You will not hit departure route until you are fully going out to
- 59:52deliver the route. But if you need to access all of
- 59:56the RX scans because for whatever reason, you know.
- 1:00:00Like let's say you're maybe there's a giant carrier pickup
- 1:00:03or, or heaven, heaven forbid, not that, but and you want to
- 1:00:07access that trip to door scan, you need to go into the RX menu.
- 1:00:11And then you're going to go to the three lines at the top right
- 1:00:14corner of the hamburger menu. And then you're going to Scroll
- 1:00:17down and you're going to go to show all activities, show all RX
- 1:00:21activities and it will unlock all of the RX scans for the for
- 1:00:26you to to have now that it won't prompt you through each menu
- 1:00:31like it will normally. So just remember if you end up
- 1:00:34having to do that, that, that you've done that.
- 1:00:38Or if like, let's say you're out there and your scanner dies and
- 1:00:41you don't want to have to clock in again, go to show all
- 1:00:44activities and they know it'll, it'll show it like that.
- 1:00:47You can show all the all the scans like that.
- 1:00:50Now second trips after to do. Once you return from the route,
- 1:00:54you're still going to do the normal way end of return to DU
- 1:00:59to do your end of shift duties and then PM casing and then run
- 1:01:02your second trip. Start load and load.
- 1:01:05Oh yeah, the start load and load and then run your second trip.
- 1:01:09So that's still going to stay the same, correct?
- 1:01:11Yes. Yep, Yep, just PMK start load
- 1:01:15and load and then you whenever you get back from from doing
- 1:01:19that all you got to do is sign out leaving and and doctor
- 1:01:22scanner. And clock out.
- 1:01:24And clock out. Because that time because the PM
- 1:01:27casing just stops the clock on the end of shift duties.
- 1:01:31So that time between PM casing and clocking out, however long
- 1:01:36it takes you is just going to count it towards your time
- 1:01:39worked or your weekly hours. Yes, yeah, the time like if you
- 1:01:44just think about it like I I had a like when I went regular, just
- 1:01:49times ticking and it could be good, it could be bad.
- 1:01:53I have a lot of like little mini second trips that I do for
- 1:01:57express for one of my businesses and they're not very far from
- 1:01:59the office. So it's kind of bad in my case.
- 1:02:03But if you're like a 41 hour route and you know that you're
- 1:02:07going over evaluation it and you have those second trips, then it
- 1:02:12it it, you could get compensated maybe a little bit more than you
- 1:02:16would have as second trip time. It just depends on the
- 1:02:19situation. Yeah, I mean, in my case, I,
- 1:02:23yeah, second trips in general for me are not worth the time
- 1:02:28because my route at any given time, I'm only a few miles from
- 1:02:32the office. I think the biggest second trip
- 1:02:34I've ever done was 11 miles, most of them usually 345 miles
- 1:02:39total. So to me, that's really not
- 1:02:42worth the three minutes a mile. And, and, and we're what we
- 1:02:47consider the back half of my route, which technically like
- 1:02:50the back third really I'm less than a mile from the post
- 1:02:54office. So for me, especially during
- 1:02:56Christmas time, because I know how my people order as we all
- 1:02:59do, there are plenty of times or even on normal heavier days or
- 1:03:03day after holidays where when I'm ready to go to the back
- 1:03:08half, I just beeline up to the office real quick.
- 1:03:10Pull in, hit start load, go grab those parcels, load up the truck
- 1:03:14and load and then drive the mile back to where I, you know, left
- 1:03:20off and then continue the back half of the route.
- 1:03:22Because honestly it's really not worth the time.
- 1:03:25I mean, the last second trip I did literally was 4 miles round
- 1:03:31trip for six packages to 1 address.
- 1:03:33It took me longer to unload them because they filled the truck
- 1:03:38because of the size of them. Then I actually got paid to do
- 1:03:41that second truck. So yeah, first again, that's
- 1:03:45your decision. I mean, you know, like our POV
- 1:03:48route second trips, are they worth it for him?
- 1:03:50Absolutely. I mean, his first box is 9 miles
- 1:03:53from the office. So you were already making bank
- 1:03:56before you even get there, you know.
- 1:03:57And so, yeah, it's in again, second trips.
- 1:04:02That's management's call in general, whether it's they're
- 1:04:05going to have somebody else delivering for you or you're
- 1:04:07going to do a second trip, so. Yes.
- 1:04:09And the Union feels, as we've all seen over the last several
- 1:04:13years, the Union feels that second trips are done at the end
- 1:04:15of the day after the route. And then if shift duties are
- 1:04:17completed, the six to nine play really should not be for
- 1:04:21regulars. If they want to bring our CAS in
- 1:04:24and have them run packages in the morning, that's completely
- 1:04:27up to them. Just, you know, remind the RCA
- 1:04:30that hey, make sure you're logged into the proper route on
- 1:04:33the scanners and that you are doing those rec scans if
- 1:04:35necessary. Yeah.
- 1:04:37And if and if you know that they're not being done to like
- 1:04:40approach management and be like, hey, I saw that you guys ran
- 1:04:44parcels for my route. I appreciate that you guys did
- 1:04:46that. But can you guys show me that
- 1:04:48you guys did the proper R rec scans so to so that I know my
- 1:04:52routes getting good credit because they may have management
- 1:04:54might have had the sub take it for three different routes and
- 1:04:58each one of those routes deserve to have load time for each set
- 1:05:03of parcels. Oh, I.
- 1:05:05Agree. So just be mindful that I'm
- 1:05:08trying to think of anything else.
- 1:05:09The second trip thing, yeah, I always, I always forget about
- 1:05:11that until like the day comes and they don't mention it in
- 1:05:15that document. Very.
- 1:05:16It's only in one spot. Yeah.
- 1:05:20If you guys wanted to look at the document that I was reading,
- 1:05:23it is a postal document, but the union has it on their What's New
- 1:05:28page and it'll it'll be under the Christmas overtime
- 1:05:31procedures. It's it's usually we still have
- 1:05:35like two different versions of it printed on our rural union
- 1:05:40board in my office because most of it doesn't change.
- 1:05:44It's just usually the date range of like when the guarantee year
- 1:05:48is and when the Christmas overtime actual dates and pay
- 1:05:53periods are. And this one actually included
- 1:05:55the the MOU, which was fascinating to me that they
- 1:06:01caught up. Yeah, right.
- 1:06:04Yeah. I was like, oh wow.
- 1:06:05We actually do include it. Surprise to me.
- 1:06:10I don't, we don't know like how Christmas is going to be this
- 1:06:13year. And.
- 1:06:14And I don't, I know. Yeah, we never really know.
- 1:06:17I mean, it's like I, I told you, like my, I feel like my, I feel
- 1:06:22like my flat volumes up, but I know for sure my DPS letter
- 1:06:27volume is up, which is interesting.
- 1:06:29As mine is too. Especially this past week.
- 1:06:32It was. It was weird.
- 1:06:33I mean. Yeah.
- 1:06:35Typically, what's the bottom out in the next two weeks?
- 1:06:38Yes. Yeah.
- 1:06:39And then we're going to get the the means of where did all the
- 1:06:41flats go And then come December 27th, release the flat.
- 1:06:48And that's when you get all the seed catalogs for all the
- 1:06:51gardeners and farmers. Yes, in fact I just had one too.
- 1:06:55So they are starting to come out.
- 1:06:56Yeah, I had one too the other day.
- 1:06:59I was like, Dang, we're already we're ahead of the game.
- 1:07:02We we briefly already did touch on this too.
- 1:07:05If, for instance, you ended up if you had earned an X day
- 1:07:11before the beginning of the guarantee period, October 4th
- 1:07:15this year, you cannot use any previously earned X days from
- 1:07:21sorry from October 4th through December 26th.
- 1:07:25If you earned an X day because you know you were mandated to
- 1:07:29work your relief day and you earned the X day, you can use it
- 1:07:33within the same pay period. Otherwise management's going to
- 1:07:37have to convert it and then it ends up becoming time and 1/2.
- 1:07:40Yeah, it's just. Are you working that day?
- 1:07:42Reverts to a deck of which I am that.
- 1:07:46That's how I've been notating since beginning of October after
- 1:07:51I got back from Italy, actually. Yeah.
- 1:07:54And he's set, you know, any K days that I've had to work, I am
- 1:07:57just like, you know what, I don't need a next day for
- 1:08:00anything right now. Just pay me the deck of five
- 1:08:03because I am not on the relief day work list.
- 1:08:06And, you know, we'll call it good.
- 1:08:07If I need to have it as a three because I have something coming
- 1:08:10up that, you know, within the same pay period, then I'll do it
- 1:08:14and it's no big deal. But other than that, yeah, I'm
- 1:08:17just like, you know what, just give me the five.
- 1:08:19Yeah, I I got in Monday and because I had worked last
- 1:08:22Saturday as well and in my remarks I had 3/5 like which one
- 1:08:28do you want me? And I was, I circled 5I don't
- 1:08:35like remember back. Yeah, I was like, oh, because
- 1:08:37normally, you know, it's just a three anyways, because I'm not
- 1:08:41on a really work list, but at this time of year.
- 1:08:43And I already told her, I said, yeah, just pay me a 5.
- 1:08:45I don't need an extra day off unless something comes up.
- 1:08:49Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:51I'll I'll take the money right now trying to catch up on
- 1:08:54finances. After vacation, you'll have like
- 1:08:56managers who, who like wanted to get the carriers to like use
- 1:09:02their X days and they're, and the carriers decided, you know,
- 1:09:07oh, I'll use it like around Thanksgiving, you know, or, you
- 1:09:10know, like other management thinking like, Oh yeah, it's,
- 1:09:14it's a win win, right? But then managers go in to go
- 1:09:17enter it and it's going to get rejected.
- 1:09:21Yep. So even though that MO, that
- 1:09:24memo that I'm reading, that bulletin, they, they know like
- 1:09:28it's sent to them, pretty sure it's sent to them every year.
- 1:09:31It doesn't change. About it when it's, you know
- 1:09:34they don't. Even know what the guarantee
- 1:09:36year is. Yeah, yeah, pretty much.
- 1:09:40And of course, city has their own rules with how their
- 1:09:42Christmas time works. Also on the rural side.
- 1:09:46Now, this is another big one I've seen pop up.
- 1:09:49We do not have blackout dates ever.
- 1:09:53Yeah. For leave that is specifically a
- 1:09:58a clerk and city and city carrier crafts things.
- 1:10:02Rural carriers do not have blackout dates.
- 1:10:06If there is a sub available, there should not be a denial.
- 1:10:10Yep. And if you get a denial and
- 1:10:12there's a sub available, you know what to do.
- 1:10:14Yeah. I'd say regardless of the
- 1:10:17reason. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:10:20Let. Them let them prove there is
- 1:10:21this. It's available anywhere.
- 1:10:23Yeah, yeah, pretty much. But yeah, so we do not have
- 1:10:28blackout dates no matter what management wants to tell you.
- 1:10:31And especially if you were a newer regular or somebody who
- 1:10:35hasn't paid attention too much or is just finally getting
- 1:10:38trying to educate yourself. Yeah, or you got a manager who
- 1:10:42who just became a manager and they only know city stuff.
- 1:10:47Or tell them Nope, we yeah or yeah, we have.
- 1:10:51No, if there's a leave replacement available then a
- 1:10:55rural carrier can take leave. Anytime of the year.
- 1:10:58When they want to, yeah. We don't have like a the city
- 1:11:02carriers I think, and the clerks too, they have like their
- 1:11:05calendar where they bid out like their leave and all that.
- 1:11:09And then they can take incidentals or whatever I think
- 1:11:11is what it is. Yeah, we ain't got that.
- 1:11:14I am so glad we don't have that. Yeah.
- 1:11:18And that's what the importance and that's what the importance
- 1:11:21of what, you know, what initially was supposed to be and
- 1:11:24how it was. Unfortunately, we can't keep the
- 1:11:27people to keep it that way of having one sub per route.
- 1:11:31Regardless of the route classification, every rural
- 1:11:34route's entitled to have a leave replacement assigned to it.
- 1:11:38That's the whole point of that. I mean is so you can take your
- 1:11:41leave at your will. Yep I do someone that was on an
- 1:11:44ox route that has a sub. Yep, that's how it works.
- 1:11:47So, but I think, I think that's, I think that's it.
- 1:11:51I think with it, if we miss something.
- 1:11:54We'll, we'll follow up next week, but you know.
- 1:11:57Yeah, yeah. The the only thing I know for
- 1:11:59sure is leave in conjunction that was 1.
- 1:12:01Yeah, that was the only, you know, in Yeah, with the of the
- 1:12:07holiday. Yeah, with the holiday and your
- 1:12:09release day, yeah. And we will look into that and
- 1:12:13see what is actually the world for sure.
- 1:12:16Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think I've gotten, I usually do get
- 1:12:20Christmas overtime. Last year I think I didn't
- 1:12:22because I was 46 K This year I'm probably will end up working 46
- 1:12:28hours and getting it but. I'm a 46K too.
- 1:12:33I don't think I had. This will be my third Christmas
- 1:12:36as a regular so I'm not sure. Also a pay period that started
- 1:12:42yesterday will reflect. So the paycheck from the pay
- 1:12:46period we are currently in should have is supposed to
- 1:12:50reflect the the contractual general wage increase of 1.4%.
- 1:12:56The pay tables broke 100K. Yes, they have.
- 1:12:59And also RCA's Arcs will also have their general wage
- 1:13:05increase. I think that puts the step ones
- 1:13:07up to 2189 and the step twos which is new this contract.
- 1:13:14So those are CAS that have three years or more or approach three
- 1:13:19years or more will get a dollar increase and be up to 2289.
- 1:13:24Woohoo. Yeah, so and I have my step
- 1:13:26increase this week's check too. Yeah, Heck yeah.
- 1:13:30Hell. Yeah, I like having a couple
- 1:13:32wage. I had four wage increases over
- 1:13:35the last over 5 pay periods. I'll take it.
- 1:13:40You know what you should be doing.
- 1:13:42One of those is because. My route went.
- 1:13:44Back up to a 46. So that's one of the little
- 1:13:47bumps. I was getting my hour back and
- 1:13:49then the cost of living adjustment and then my step
- 1:13:53increase and then the general wage.
- 1:13:55Yep. Someone told me a long time ago,
- 1:13:56every time you get an increase up your TSP 1%.
- 1:13:59That way you won't miss it out of your check.
- 1:14:01Yeah, I have yet to do that. It is good advice though.
- 1:14:05See if you can do it is. Yeah.
- 1:14:10Like I said, you're not going to miss it.
- 1:14:12You know every time you get an increase if you do it some.
- 1:14:15Of us would message. If you do it now, I'm saying if
- 1:14:17you get it right now, 1%, this increase is 1.4%.
- 1:14:21So you're still getting almost a half a percent.
- 1:14:23Yeah, you know. You actually, but you got to
- 1:14:25remember Mr. Table one us in table table.
- 1:14:30One, Sir. Hey I'm I'm still PO also.
- 1:14:36OK. So you know what, what you could
- 1:14:40do is like come February when we get our back pay, you could
- 1:14:46increase the percentage of then so that a chunk of the back pay
- 1:14:50goes into TSP, more of it and then reduce it back down.
- 1:14:54I was going to say and then reduce it back down.
- 1:14:57Yeah. But I got bills to pay.
- 1:15:01Yeah, I do too. I know.
- 1:15:02I just like say. It won't work, but I don't know
- 1:15:05if it would on the backpack. Yeah, what it would go in there
- 1:15:07like not taxed, I don't know. Anyways, I need it to pay bills
- 1:15:12too, so. Trust me, I understand.
- 1:15:16Yeah. I have, I have that additional
- 1:15:18monthly withdrawal coming out now for incarceration through
- 1:15:22June. So yeah, I kind of.
- 1:15:24Have extra. Money.
- 1:15:26Yeah. Yeah, yeah, an extra $300 a.
- 1:15:29Month coming out. Right now I'm.
- 1:15:32Like here, here you guys go. So but I'm trying to think of
- 1:15:35anything else because I know I like I said that that documents
- 1:15:40pretty good. It covered a lot of it.
- 1:15:42Yeah. So that we knew, Yeah.
- 1:15:44And then like we said, the the next holiday coming up is
- 1:15:46Thanksgiving next week. And I Yep.
- 1:15:50And I took off the Saturday after Thanksgiving because my
- 1:15:55relief day is Friday, so I'll have Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
- 1:15:58Sunday off. I've already been mandated to
- 1:16:01work that Saturday. No, Yeah, yeah, I'm like, Nope.
- 1:16:07Do you know I'm no longer the the low man on the totem pole as
- 1:16:11regulars? I'm third from the bottom now
- 1:16:14and 4th from the top. I'm kind of in the middle, but I
- 1:16:18am still the low man on the totem pole for Saturday K days.
- 1:16:24I think I'm, I'm 22nd in seniority now.
- 1:16:27Oh, I'm. 4th I'm 4th and yeah, but I'm still the low man for
- 1:16:35Saturday K days. So yeah, I'm working the 29th
- 1:16:38and I know it's happening because it went well.
- 1:16:42I'm not necessarily being mandated, I was asked, but more
- 1:16:45than likely I would have been mandated, so I just.
- 1:16:48Said yeah. Whatever I have, as of right
- 1:16:51now, I have not been asked to work this next Saturday.
- 1:16:55So I'm thinking the other regular is working Saturday so
- 1:16:59they can then take that X day and take the day after
- 1:17:03Thanksgiving off and have A5 day weekend as they're well known to
- 1:17:07do throughout the. That's what I think's going on,
- 1:17:11yeah. Yeah.
- 1:17:13Wouldn't it be a shame if management mandated their X day
- 1:17:16on Wednesday? Yeah, unfortunately my
- 1:17:19management would not do that for this particular.
- 1:17:22Person I know, I know, I'm just saying it'd be a shame.
- 1:17:26Hey last Saturday 3 regulars worked so this person could have
- 1:17:30their K day OK? Wow.
- 1:17:34Yeah, that that. Yeah, I'm just going to leave it
- 1:17:38at that. I the the math not math in for
- 1:17:40me but wow. And I did Monday.
- 1:17:45Monday was kind of cold. We we only had a high of like 33
- 1:17:48here Monday. And yes, I excuse my language
- 1:17:52people, I bitched out and got the LLV delivery window cover
- 1:17:59out that on my truck. Hey, that's, that's fine.
- 1:18:04That's good. You got to do what you got to
- 1:18:06do. Yeah, you got to become.
- 1:18:07I'm out there alone and going wow.
- 1:18:09And I'd only wore my my thinner hoodie, my zip up hoodie I got
- 1:18:14from Lake Tahoe when we went to Reno last year.
- 1:18:18And I that's all I had on with, you know, my long sleeve T-shirt
- 1:18:21and I was like, it's mighty chilly.
- 1:18:23Can I get that? And then it was still chilly
- 1:18:26because I'm wasn't used to these temperate all of sudden boom
- 1:18:29drop. And so I was notified I had a
- 1:18:33Mr. own parcel and I passed the office going after my first
- 1:18:37route at first hour of the route.
- 1:18:38I drive right past the office. So yeah, I know I don't want to
- 1:18:42hear it about them texting us, but it I don't necessarily
- 1:18:45reply. I'll look at it and they, yeah,
- 1:18:48OK, at least it's for the back half and I'll stop and yeah, you
- 1:18:52know, I'll stop and grab it on my way past the office.
- 1:18:55I'm not going out of my way. And I was like, I'm kind of glad
- 1:18:58I had to do this because then I can run to my car and grab my
- 1:19:01warmer hoodie. Yeah, like, Oh my goodness.
- 1:19:06I know we haven't had any true, real, true snowfall yet.
- 1:19:09What little bit we did was gone within a couple hours and we've
- 1:19:12had little flurries here and there.
- 1:19:14But it it it's a common I'm not looking.
- 1:19:16Forward I actually had some of that stuff the other night.
- 1:19:19We had some flurries earlier today.
- 1:19:21All right guys, before we just start flapping our jaws and
- 1:19:24carrying on, we will. Hey, you know, I and I told the
- 1:19:30supervisor too. I said because the city carriers
- 1:19:32hardly use their window covers for the LO VS I said I'm taking
- 1:19:34one from one of the city trucks And she she looked at me.
- 1:19:39I said because mine is really scratched up because it
- 1:19:42obviously didn't get put on right a couple different times
- 1:19:44and come flying off and got dragged down the road.
- 1:19:48She's like, oh, so you need a new one ordered.
- 1:19:50I'm like if you would, that'd be great please Thank you.
- 1:19:53And then you know the hard plastic slides for the cases,
- 1:19:57the mark in the cases, the colored ones yes yeah, our
- 1:20:01office has like really never used them since I've been in
- 1:20:04this office and I've learned on them and color coding system and
- 1:20:08and so we there I don't know there was a box from a retired
- 1:20:11carrier or something that got sent to us.
- 1:20:12I had a bunch of them so I took of them but it was all funky
- 1:20:16colors because. Color code, right?
- 1:20:19So I guess my sub who had learned my system with the
- 1:20:22slides who's now regular wanted some more and certain colors and
- 1:20:26so she come around and add. So like, yeah, absolutely.
- 1:20:29If you get me, you know, green, more yellows because I'm
- 1:20:32definitely don't have enough yellows because I've been using
- 1:20:34white and oranges where I should have yellows.
- 1:20:35I said that'd be great. I said I'm good on red.
- 1:20:38Plenty, plenty of red. Those came in yesterday.
- 1:20:41Can you believe how happy I was to have even a new color chart
- 1:20:45to to fill out, to put on underneath the plexiglass on the
- 1:20:49the desk of the case and wow, Yeah.
- 1:20:52So I'm like, Oh my gosh, I can get these all done up.
- 1:20:54And then my new labels came in. So I got brand new labels that I
- 1:20:58need to do hopefully this week, yeah.
- 1:21:02Class on your on your case, but I actually have that now too.
- 1:21:06I was going to say, you just found got that because you're in
- 1:21:08the. Yes.
- 1:21:09You got fancy. Fancy.
- 1:21:11Yeah. Yep, that's what I said.
- 1:21:13I just got that as of yesterday. So I, you know, it's been a
- 1:21:19couple weeks. My truck came back, it's running
- 1:21:21awesome. I can't complain the heat.
- 1:21:24Works. Yeah, well, you know, I, I did 4
- 1:21:271/2 months of musical vehicles, so I'm good.
- 1:21:31Yeah, vehicle. Yeah, yeah, I I'm happy my
- 1:21:34truck's back. I actually see the two NGD VS on
- 1:21:38in the parking in the far end of the parking lot.
- 1:21:41So I was Speaking of NGD VS and if anybody else has heard the
- 1:21:45tires that they put on those, they only last about 1500 miles.
- 1:21:51Oh, Lynette's already had two sets put on her truck.
- 1:21:56It's got just over 6000 miles on it now and the ones that are on
- 1:21:59it need to be replaced. I don't I.
- 1:22:02Wonder if it was, but I know we're talking with one of the
- 1:22:05team members or the transition team.
- 1:22:07They were one of the vehicles. They were talking about Michelin
- 1:22:10tires on it. I don't know.
- 1:22:11I was happy with all brand new tires on mine too.
- 1:22:14And I looked so I'm like, whoa, those are new.
- 1:22:16Those are new rigs too. Wow, I'm I was even more
- 1:22:20thrilled. Yeah.
- 1:22:23For the winner, yeah. Yeah, seriously.
- 1:22:26And then I thought for sure when the sub had cleaned my truck out
- 1:22:30before VMF took it when through the the rod through the oil pan
- 1:22:35that I thought he did something with my trade dapper.
- 1:22:39My my postmaster was it last year sometime went through and
- 1:22:43whatever. If anybody wanted trade dappers,
- 1:22:45just the red ones for the DPS trace.
- 1:22:47If anybody wanted them, get one. I'm like, yeah, sure, I'll take
- 1:22:49one. And and all of a sudden it
- 1:22:51disappeared and I thought maybe he took it with him to, you
- 1:22:55know, the other routes that he went on and bring the ox route
- 1:22:58and going regular and Nope. When my truck came back, there
- 1:23:01was my trade dapper sitting on the tray.
- 1:23:03I'm like, oh, that's where that was.
- 1:23:06So I got that back too. Hey, you're lucky you didn't
- 1:23:09disappear. Oh, I know, right?
- 1:23:11That's why we pulled my shelves before it went.
- 1:23:13That was the first thing they did was they pulled them shelves
- 1:23:16out. In fact, the the postmaster
- 1:23:18pulled the shelves out and put them in the back of her car
- 1:23:22before the tow truck made. Yeah.
- 1:23:25So all right, guys, so we're going to wind it down now so
- 1:23:27we're not rambling any anymore. And he's going.
- 1:23:30What the hell are you talking about now?
- 1:23:33So this we could ramble on and on and on, but we're not.
- 1:23:36So Josh, your final comments for tonight.
- 1:23:40Just be safe out there, you know, as we over to earlier, the
- 1:23:43weather is changing for good or bad, so layer up.
- 1:23:48Just take your time, do what you need to do, get it done.
- 1:23:50Don't get overwhelmed if you do take a step back, take a deep
- 1:23:54breath and step back in. Have a good week, you know.
- 1:23:58Well thank you guys. Hopefully Christmas is not crazy
- 1:24:03and we can get managers to hire people.
- 1:24:09And and. Yeah, we have one going through
- 1:24:10Academy this week. Like please.
- 1:24:13Please get them on boarded by before next Christmas.
- 1:24:17Yeah, yeah, seriously, maybe if this is, if this is your first
- 1:24:21Christmas, please hold on. You know, it's it's each
- 1:24:26Christmas sometimes is different.
- 1:24:27There's similarities. But like Josh was saying, don't
- 1:24:31get overwhelmed with it. And, you know, take it day by
- 1:24:35day. And sometimes it may feel
- 1:24:36overwhelming, but you know, just do what you can go.
- 1:24:41Don't hurt yourself. You know, do you still need to
- 1:24:44stay safe? And because you still do need
- 1:24:48to, to go home and be with your family and don't let the stress
- 1:24:54of this beat you down. And hopefully it's a good
- 1:24:59Christmas. Hopefully it's not a super
- 1:25:02insane one, but again, I'm still in that vein of there's, there's
- 1:25:07EAP. If you, if you need any, you
- 1:25:10know, counseling help. The phone number for EAP is
- 1:25:15800-327-4968 and it's E8800 EAP for you.
- 1:25:23Again, it's 800-327-4968. You can go on to you, you can
- 1:25:28just Google USPSEAP if you want to, you know, text a counselor.
- 1:25:35It's sometimes the holiday season brings out, you know,
- 1:25:41different emotions and this job doesn't always help with that.
- 1:25:45So just reach out to them if you need anybody to to talk to.
- 1:25:49So and please take care of yourselves.
- 1:25:54I know it's it's it's darker. We're we're we're in headlamp
- 1:25:58time at night. I know I used my headlamp couple
- 1:26:01nights a couple times this this last week.
- 1:26:04So make sure those batteries are fresh and that they're they're
- 1:26:08event that management get you a new set of them.
- 1:26:13But just make sure you're going home safe.
- 1:26:15So, but thank you guys. And yeah, Kristen.
- 1:26:20Thank you guys. Yep, so basically that was
- 1:26:23Christmas OT in a nutshell and how holidays are supposed to
- 1:26:28work. You can find most of that
- 1:26:29information under. You said it was article 11
- 1:26:32correct? For holidays, yes.
- 1:26:35Yep, for holidays. And then nine point what, 2
- 1:26:39point whatever for for Christmas overtime plus the F21 time on a
- 1:26:43table. So definitely, you know, you get
- 1:26:45a chance. Go read up.
- 1:26:47So if management's trying to do something funky, you can say,
- 1:26:50Nope, this says different. You can't do that.
- 1:26:53That was always my favorite thing to do.
- 1:26:57But yes, the weather is here. It is.
- 1:26:59In black and white. Yes, yes, this says right here
- 1:27:02you're you're the higher up bosses of you agreed with our
- 1:27:06people and they say you can't do that.
- 1:27:08So no, you can't do that. But yes, the weather is starting
- 1:27:14to change. We're already halfway through
- 1:27:16November already. Oh my, my, Oh my.
- 1:27:19This year is going by fast. But on that note, guys, take
- 1:27:22care of yourself. Stay hydrated, stay warm, dress
- 1:27:25in layers if needed. If you're still in warmer
- 1:27:28weather areas, well, I I'm happy for you because it's getting
- 1:27:33kind of chilly over here anyways.
- 1:27:36But yeah, so take caution. You know, if you are in those
- 1:27:39states that normally get snowfall that if you haven't
- 1:27:42seen yet, make sure your vehicles are prepared, whether
- 1:27:46your government vehicle or POV, make sure you have what you need
- 1:27:50for the snow. You're in those.
- 1:27:52You know, I know my postmaster mentioned getting out the
- 1:27:55shovels and the snow scrapers and whatnot.
- 1:27:58I this year I cut my puzzle weights in all year round.
- 1:28:01I didn't bother taking them out because that's something we
- 1:28:04don't have anybody to do that in our office.
- 1:28:05So, you know, hit start load, drive it around, go load them
- 1:28:08up, bring it back, hit end load. It works for us.
- 1:28:11Or end of shift duties. That too end of shift duty, if
- 1:28:15that's something you have to do on yourselves.
- 1:28:16But stay vigilant out there. You know, it's, I know firearm
- 1:28:21deer hunting season just opened up yesterday as well in
- 1:28:24Michigan. I'm not sure about other states.
- 1:28:27So that's one more thing we got to keep our eyes out for
- 1:28:30hunters. And you're running more than
- 1:28:33normal. But you know, guys, it's, you
- 1:28:37know, Christmas is quickly coming upon us and it is tough.
- 1:28:41We've all been through it this, you know, and if this is your
- 1:28:45first Christmas, guys, just stick with it.
- 1:28:48And if you're brand new and you're coming in at this time of
- 1:28:51year, if you can survive it, you've got it made.
- 1:28:55I mean, just remember that there's always that light at the
- 1:28:58end of the tunnel. It only comes once a year and
- 1:29:02you just have to get yourself prepared mentally for it, if you
- 1:29:06if at all you can. I know there's so many other
- 1:29:09things that go on with everybody.
- 1:29:10Everybody has their own things they're dealing with outside of
- 1:29:12work. But just try to remember when
- 1:29:14you're walking into that post office, especially this time of
- 1:29:16year, that you're just focused on doing your job and getting it
- 1:29:20done as safely that you can. I'm not going to iterate, you
- 1:29:25know, safe. Be safe out there, guys, because
- 1:29:29you know, you want to be home for the holidays with your
- 1:29:31families as well. So on that note, we'll be back
- 1:29:33next week as usual. And yeah, take care everybody.
