- 0:00Midrash Rubber by Yogash share #3 We learned previously that
- 0:06Judah and Yosef, Yoda and Yosef came together in the clash of
- 0:11the two symbolic kings of the world.
- 0:14At the time you heard that being the king of the Jewish people,
- 0:16Yosef, the advisory of the Egyptian society, and hereby
- 0:21Yogash, a love Yoda was he physically came close.
- 0:24The Medrash offers alternative interpretations because the
- 0:28whole problem was with Vayigash was what do you mean Vayigash?
- 0:31Because they were already talking to each other.
- 0:33So here we have a different approach, different
- 0:36understandings of the word Vayigash, which means he didn't
- 0:38actually physically get closer to yourself, but he he
- 0:43intellectually or emotionally penetrated the thoughts of
- 0:46yourself. They became, perhaps they grew
- 0:49to become on the same wavelength.
- 0:51So let's see how the Madras develops this particular
- 0:54understanding of the drama in this week's parasha.
- 0:59Another interpretation of the of the word Vayigash.
- 1:03Vayigash, a love Yehuda. And here we have another pasuk,
- 1:07this time from the Book of Proverbs.
- 1:09Fascinating pasuk. Tapuhey, Zahav, The Masquiat
- 1:15golden apples, the Masquiat kasif.
- 1:18Masquiat kasif. What does that mean?
- 1:20So the manager tells us that Aquilas the convert, he
- 1:24translated the phrase like golden apples in silver boxes.
- 1:31And how does the apostle conclude?
- 1:33Davar Davar al Ofanov? So is a word spoken in its
- 1:41proper place, just as a sight. So who is Mr. Akilas?
- 1:47Fascinating. We don't actually know.
- 1:49One theory tells us it was none other than Uncleus you can find
- 1:53printed in Moscow machine. However, there's another another
- 1:58line of line of thought that tells us they were different
- 2:01people entirely. And Akilas is is translating
- 2:06Proverbs while Uncleus translated the Torah.
- 2:12Another potential indication of who he was was that Akilas
- 2:16translates things into Greek, whilst Uncalus did it into into
- 2:22Aramaic. Anyway, that's Mr. Akilas taking
- 2:25care of. What's the point of the
- 2:26metaphor? Is that something that appears
- 2:29valuable on the outside, like a silver box, can contain items of
- 2:34even greater value on the inside, like apples made of
- 2:39gold? This metaphor applies to the
- 2:42words that Judah spoke to to Yosef, and we'll see how this
- 2:45develops over the next comments as well.
- 2:49Ma Ofanzer Maher Panemi called stud As a wheel shows its face
- 2:55from every side, so were Yahooda's words manifest to
- 2:59every side. When he spoke to his brother
- 3:03Yosef, his words had multiple meanings.
- 3:08Again, there's a subtlety in the language that needs to be
- 3:11highlighted. The the verse ends in this verge
- 3:14You can find in chapter 25, verse 11 in in the in the book
- 3:17of Michelin proverbs said Davao, Davao al ofnav.
- 3:22So is a word spoken in its proper place.
- 3:25But the word ofnav, which here means the proper place, is also
- 3:29related to the word of fun, which is a wheel.
- 3:33And just like when a wheel spins, it presents itself
- 3:39equally in all directions, so to the words of Yehuda did so for
- 3:46Yosef, meaning when Yehuda spoke to Yosef.
- 3:50Although his words appeared to be only words of appeasement, in
- 3:54fact they had multiple meanings. Like the metaphor of the wheel
- 3:59spinning in all directions, he had hidden in them hints of
- 4:04reproach. This is also the meaning of the
- 4:06words apples of gold in silver boxes.
- 4:11Don't just think the outside of my words.
- 4:13The words that you hear have meaning.
- 4:15There's deeper meaning contained within the hints and the
- 4:18illusions within the world within the word.
- 4:21So what's the meaning of Ayigash, a love Yoda again, if
- 4:24you're making a film, how would you, how would you direct the
- 4:27scene? Do you have Yoda walking up to
- 4:30yourself or are they stationary as where they were in the
- 4:33previous scene? And rather as a result of
- 4:37Yehuda's pressing incisive arguments, Yosef could no longer
- 4:41restrain himself and he revealed himself to his brothers.
- 4:45Is there a psychological drama going on?
- 4:48Is it a physical altercation? Two different lines of thought
- 4:52in the Midrash for you to consider.
- 4:54Have a wonderful day.
