- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hello and welcome to T Bone Sports One Fan All Game Podcast 13.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Some people find that number unlucky, but we'll see.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Well, week two of college football is in the books.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Last Saturday.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Both the University of Alabama, Roll Tide, and University of Colorado, Scobuffs, both won their games.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: Obviously, Alabama played a tougher team, Kentucky, and the University of Colorado played Weaver State, which is a little bit smaller school, not such a tough team.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: But both games were two totally different games.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: For one, the Alabama game was closer than it should have been in the first half.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: And then obviously in the second half, Alabama was able to kind of pull away and get the victory that I think everybody thought they should have had, but you know, the the way the game started off.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Definitely not typical for Alabama.
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: But, you know, when you have a young quarterback and and just not playing smart and looking smart and doing smart things, you know, you're you're gonna you're gonna create opportunities for the other team to score quickly.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: So quick breakdown of the game.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Alabama kicks off to the University of Kentucky in the end zone touchback.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Kentucky has the ball first.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: They complete a pass to for 13 yards to the Kentucky's 38.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Another first and 10 on their 38 now.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: Pass complete for 9 yards now to the Kentucky's 47, still on their side of the field.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: The rush for 8 yards put them on the Alabama 48, put them on the other side of the 50, put them in positive territory.
- 1:55SPEAKER_02: And then they had a snap back to the pass.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, it was a bad snap, four-yard loss.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Second and 14 from the Kentucky 48.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Rushes two yards, makes it third and twelve.
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: Another complete pass for six yards, fourth and six.
- 2:23SPEAKER_02: Punts the ball.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Kentucky punts the ball.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: So Kentucky got one first down, and then unfortunately did go three and out once they kind of started to get into to positive territory.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: And Alabama gets the ball.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Very first play.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Sacked.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: You know, again, young quarterback, a young offensive line.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Alabama just starts off bad right there, a 10-yard loss.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: That's that's big.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: You're already you're already behind the sticks.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: You know, when when Kentucky took the ball first, they they had some positive yards, were able to move down the field a little bit, you know, and then unfortunately had had a negative play, put them back behind the sticks, and and you know, just were unable to get that other first down.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: You know, when you know when you start off and you and you start off with a big loss, especially a 10-yard loss, right in the beginning of the game, you know, and it's already second and twenty now.
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: Now you're behind the sticks, your play call sheet gets a lot smaller, and and it's more difficult to get that that first first down and get your team really going.
- 3:20SPEAKER_00: Second happen, another, you know, you know, rust for negative two yards.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, you you you go back.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Now you're at sec now.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: You're at third and twenty two.
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: And you know, we know what happens.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: Again, third and long.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Play call is very, very short.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: You're obviously in a passing situation.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Kentucky figured that out, was able to intercept the ball and run the ball back for a touchdown.
- 3:49SPEAKER_00: Pick six right off the game.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: Not the way Alabama wanted to start.
- 3:53SPEAKER_00: Obviously, it's the way Kentucky wanted to start.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: And, you know, that's that's just that's not that's not what you want to do.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: You obviously kick and Kentucky kicks the ball back off to Alabama, and they their second drive of the game, which should have been them, you know, they should have gone back on defense and not come right back on offense.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Rush for two yards, then a pass for nine, and then you big it, you get a big pass for 23 yards.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: See, now you're starting to move the ball.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Now you come off an interception, you come off letting a pick six.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: Now you you know, you kind of sit back.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Quarterback has a talk with the coaches on the sidelines and out.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Now he's getting comfortable.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: Now he's starting to to get this drive going, and then you fumble the ball.
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: And you know, you get a yard out of it, but at least you get you know one yard out of the fumble, and and and you don't you know lose the ball or turn it over a second time early on in the game.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: You know, they get another completed pass for two yards, second and nine, you know, and then just and then you you get a you know get a penalty, and you know, you you help out there, you know, and then you know, obviously turnover, you know, Kentucky gets the ball again for the second time, you know, obviously, and then they just kind of move.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: Alabama finally was able to get their own pick six, and they were able to turn that into a touchdown.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: So, you know, again, early in the game, both scores are coming off pick sixes, you know, not not exactly the way that I think you know you you would draw it up, or you wanted a game to start, but hey, if you if you can if you can turn turnover into points, great.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: You know, that's that's something every team tries to strive for.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: You get the you get a turnover, you try to get a touchdown, or or and you know, and and then you know Kentucky was just able to to really you know dominate the the first half, the first quarter, and tied going tied going into the second quarter, and obviously, you know, Kentucky gets another touchdown on a pass on the offense, you know, there there you go.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: And then again, it's just back and forth, back and forth by the by what you know, and then Alabama, you know, gets another good drive going.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, only get three points out of the drive, you know, and you're down by four, you know, late in the second quarter, back and forth, and then you know, obviously you're able to get another field goal late in the first in the first half, only be down by a point, you know, to to and then you know, unfortunately, you you let up a field goal the last couple seconds of the of the first half, you know, you're down by you know four four by f you're you're down by four going into half.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Obviously, Alabama gets the ball the second half, you know, and just have you know a a short drive, you know, go three and out right off the bat in the in the second in the third quarter.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: And you know, when you're down by four and you're going into halftime and you're getting the ball, that's not the opportune way to start the second half.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: You really wanted to be able to to to get that get that pass and and you know, really be able to to march down the field and do something.
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: You know, obviously Kentucky doesn't do anything.
- 7:23SPEAKER_00: You know, they punt the ball right back to Alabama.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: Alabama finally gets an another field goal.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Now you're only down by a point about midway through the four the first the third quarter.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Hey, you know, you're you're you're coming back into this game, you're you're really getting in there, and and now you you were able to get points in your second drive.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: You you really wanted to get points on this on the first drive coming out of half, but you know, second drive is is just as good.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: You know, again, able to turn it around, get another touchdown real quick, you know, late in the in the first in the third quarter, take the lead 22 or 23 to 23 to 17, and then get another touchdown, you know, 29-17 now, 30 to 31 to 17, and you know, you go for two-point, and that's that's what you do.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: You know, you you really now, okay, let's make this a two-possession game, a three-possession game.
- 8:17SPEAKER_00: Let's let's really make this, you know, our game and and really take over, you know, especially late in the in the second in the in the third quarter.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: You know, fourth quarter comes around back and forth, you know, again, midway, a little before midway through the the third the fourth quarter, Alabama scores another touchdown.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Now they're you know, now they're really starting to get back into it.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: Now they're really starting to show the dominance and and you know, a late being, you know, being this late and and taking the lead and really pushing that lead out and really, you know, double, you know, two two scores, three scores, now possession, four possession game, now whatever.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: You know, now you're able to really insert that and then you know get another another touchdown late in the fourth quarter and you know, end the game at 45-17.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Now, obviously, you know, there's Alabama fans that are like, oh, that's just that's that's unacceptable, and you know, well, our season's over.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: And and I I get the frustration.
- 9:15SPEAKER_00: I know you guys for years under Nick Saban have been so used to being so dominant and so you know everything is.
- 9:27SPEAKER_00: You know, with the bow in there, it's a little bit different thing.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: The locker room is a little bit dip missed, and the atmosphere is a little bit different, and and you really do you really do struggle with you know this with this with this game, and and it it shows that it shows how crazy you know, week to week in college football is.
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: You know, it's it's so much like the NFL.
- 9:52SPEAKER_00: Week to week is totally different.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: You know, you play an easy game week one, you go into week two, you play a little bit tougher, a tougher team.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: You know, some teams play a tough team week one, and a little bit weaker opponent week two, and then week three, you know, you're really starting to get after that towards the end of that non-conference game schedule, and you really that very next week, week four, you're starting to go in a conference or you know, you have your first conference game early, and it's it's it's a grind for the rest of the year.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: Colorado played Weber State in a totally, totally different situation.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: You know, you know, smaller school playing and playing, you know, against a big division, you know, power four conference, you know, Colorado coming off that emotional big win and in Georgia in and week one by a point, and you know these kids seem to be ready to go.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: See you end up winning the total 51 or 52-21, and totally different game, totally different way it started.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: You know, you obviously have you know, Colorado kicks the ball off to two to Weber State.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: You know, they kind of get you know, incomplete, incomplete, incomplete, you know, three big incomplete passes, and you wind up punting the ball, you know, right back to Colorado.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: You know, Jay Lewis, you know, 66-yard touchdown pass, first play of the game.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: Awesome.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Way to get that young quarterback relaxed, ready to go, feel more comfortable with this new this new offense with the new offensive coordinator.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: Up 7-0.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: You know, you punt, you know, you you know, CU kicks the ball off, you know, Bieber State kinda gets kinda gets going.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: Second and five, third and five.
- 11:44SPEAKER_02: Oh, you know, Pat, you know, you know, you you get you know, you get a you get a false start, you know.
- 11:52SPEAKER_02: Third and ten.
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: You know, you're you're at third and five, and and one of your offense linemen moves early.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: Now you put your butt now.
- 12:02SPEAKER_00: You put yourself behind the sticks.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: You have a good drive going, self-inflicted wound.
- 12:07SPEAKER_00: Everybody knows, every coach plaach player knows.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: Self-inflicted wounds, especially when you let up a huge pass in one play after going three and out in the previous drive, your second drive, you start going down the field, you get five yards, now you're in a shorter third down situation, you have a bigger playbook open, false start, now you put yourself behind the six at third and ten.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: Just doesn't doesn't work, you know.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: And, you know, you were you're able to to kind of get, you know, you know, get there, and then you you get a a you know, you know, and then you get, you know, and then the defense helps you out and get an unsportsable and conduct penalty and and gives you a fresh first down, and you know, again, start moving the ball.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: Third and seven.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: You know, come you know, you just you only go six yards.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: Again, a young team, young receivers, not knowing where the sticks are, not trying to go get what needs to happen.
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: See you gets the ball back.
- 13:12SPEAKER_02: Two plays later.
- 13:14SPEAKER_02: You know, you you try to go for it, you know, you turn the ball over, you know.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: And, you know, and yeah, turn the ball over fourth and one in Colorado, you don't get it.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: Give Colorado the ball.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: First play of the second drive for Colorado, 63 yard pass.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: You know, now now you're now you're down 14-nothing.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: And Colorado is just able to dominate, you know, finally, you know, again, third drive for for Weber State, three and out.
- 13:49SPEAKER_00: Colorado, you know, finally gets going.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: They they wind up getting, you know, they wind up, you know, not getting, you know, a touchdown in the in their third drive.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: You know, finally, you know, fourth drive, Weber State's able to get a touchdown.
- 14:04SPEAKER_00: You know, Colorado goes right back on the offense, you know, starts running, and you know, again, another pass, 48 yards.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: So you had a 66, a 63, and now a 48-yard pass by Jay Lewis.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: This kid is comfortable.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: This kid is really starting to get, okay, I can do this offense, I can make long passes, I can, I can really go and and do do some things.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: And a great start 21 to 21 to 7.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: You know, that's the first quarter.
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: And and okay.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: CU knows the fans know this is gonna be a blowout.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: Second quarter starts, get another touchdown.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: You know, a big 55-yard rush by Welch.
- 14:54SPEAKER_02: Every single one of these plays, the first four touchdowns, five touchdowns.
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: First four touchdowns for Colorado.
- 15:03SPEAKER_02: Three big passing plays, one big rushing play.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: That's how you start a game.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: That's how you play a smaller school.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: That's how you say, hey, we had an emotional win, we're not gonna play down to their level.
- 15:18SPEAKER_00: You know.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Midway, a little early, you know, not quite a little before midway through the second quarter.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: You know, Weaver State's able to score again.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: 14 to 28.
- 15:29SPEAKER_00: You know, Colorado scores again.
- 15:32SPEAKER_02: Another big another pass, 32 yards from Lewis.
- 15:39SPEAKER_02: 34 nothing, 35 nothing.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: You know, back and forth.
- 15:43SPEAKER_02: Colorado goes up again.
- 15:45SPEAKER_02: Late.
- 15:48SPEAKER_02: Lewis gets a rushing touchdown.
- 15:49SPEAKER_02: Three yards.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: Finally, the first first touchdown that's a single digit.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: You're at 41, you're at 42 nothing going into 42-14 going into half.
- 16:02SPEAKER_02: Third quarter, you know, you just dominate the game now.
- 16:10SPEAKER_02: Players go in the locker room.
- 16:13SPEAKER_02: Dion is you know, does his press conference like he does for, you know, at the end of you know, every at the end of every game.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: And you know, do does what he needs to do and and you know, it's it's good.
- 16:34SPEAKER_00: You know, the he's happy, he he talks to the media about, you know, the the football game, and you know, that that's you know, that's that's what you do.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: And and I'm I'm proud and I'm glad they won, you know, this this game, but you know, there's there's audio out there, I'm trying to find it, and where he is very upset in the locker room and just goes off on the players.
- 17:10SPEAKER_00: And you you you I'm curious why, you know, what made him, you know, why he was so upset at this the team.
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: You know, you guys can't be satisfied, and you know, don't go to parties because we're gonna be we're gonna do some conditioning.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: You know, so so who knows, you know, what happened.
- 17:32SPEAKER_00: We're we're you know, as as I heard on the fan 104, the fan uh the drive with Zach Bai and Philip Lindsay, and you know, and color Philip Lindsay's big Colorado kid, you know, played at the University of Colorado, played for Denver and the Colts and Miami and is you know now doing a radio show because you know obviously retired from the NFL.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: But you know, we're as as he said, where the were the fans, you know, where the kids looking up into the stands, were were you know, were you know they were they playing grab ass?
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Were they playing, you know, were they goofing around on the sidelines when they're already up big?
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: You know, were they not paying attention?
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: You know, who who knows, you know.
- 18:11SPEAKER_00: Now, was this Dion being Dion?
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: Or was this, hey, yeah, let's let's go, don't be satisfied.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: You're you're playing, you know, next week you play Northwestern.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: You you play a very big, you know, Pac-10, Pac-10 con or Big Ten, Big Ten school.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: You're you're you know, you you play a very good program in Northwestern next week.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: You know, Alabama you know, Alabama plays Florida State.
- 18:43SPEAKER_00: We all saw what happened last year when when Alabama and Florida State played and how Alabama lost that game.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: Which they probably shouldn't, and they did.
- 18:51SPEAKER_00: You know, Alabama's 19.5 point favorites over Florida State.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: Is this a trap game for Alabama?
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: Coming off a big emotional win over Kentucky had to come back, had to play better in the second half.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: Alabama better not start out that way like that again against Kentucky against Florida State, because Florida State's a whole different football program.
- 19:15SPEAKER_00: And you give them opportunities and you let them score and get their defense going, they'll they'll they'll find a way to beat you and they will beat you.
- 19:25SPEAKER_02: You know, Colorado plays Northwestern in in, you know, on the road, another you know, another another crazy game for Colorado.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: You you play you know, on the road, you're playing a Big Ten school, and Colorado is is really gotta be ready to go.
- 19:49SPEAKER_02: Because you you you you can't take this school lightly.
- 19:57SPEAKER_02: And by the looks of it, they actually don't they have a week off.
- 20:04SPEAKER_02: Now that I look at the score app here trying to find Oh no, they do play at 5 30 Northwestern in in you know in Chicago, in, you know, on the road.
- 20:24SPEAKER_02: You know.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: That that's a big that's a big that's a big game.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: You know.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: You're you're playing a b a better school, better conference, you know.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: Northwestern's three and a half point favorites.
- 20:36SPEAKER_00: You know, that's that's a close game.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: That's a field goal.
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: You know, obviously, you know, the the you know, let's see how these kids come out, you know, especially being, you know, yelled at by Deion Sanders.
- 20:47SPEAKER_02: And where where, you know, that is and and where you know, where he comes off being, you know, as as mad as, you know, he he was, and we'll we'll you know, we'll you know, it's just crazy.
- 21:10SPEAKER_02: We'll we'll see how CU does and uh you know where where things will go.
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: Okay, was able to find the audio of Deion Sanders after locker roeating Weaver State.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: Now, listen to this and and we'll all discuss and see if this is really real and genuine or if this is just him trying to light a fire under these kids and make sure that you know they're they're prepared to go against Northwestern, which is gonna be a totally different school.
- 21:46SPEAKER_01: Always have to do something about it.
- 21:48SPEAKER_01: Always have to take it.
- 21:49SPEAKER_01: Always have to take everything.
- 22:00SPEAKER_01: If you could be sad as night with that.
- 22:03SPEAKER_01: If I were y'all, I wouldn't even go out and party and kick it.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: Because it's gonna be a lot of condition anymore.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: There's gonna be a whole lot going on in the world.
- 22:10SPEAKER_01: I promise you that.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: I promise you that.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: Because this is not the winning recipe to win it all.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: You guys are happy with winning the game.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to win it all! Do y'all understand that?
- 22:23SPEAKER_01: Sir.
- 22:25SPEAKER_00: Now, okay.
- 22:27SPEAKER_00: Was that real?
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: Who knows?
- 22:30SPEAKER_00: Was that just a way to get his players motivated and fired up and be ready to go against Northwestern?
- 22:35SPEAKER_02: I think so.
- 22:39SPEAKER_02: That shows the coach.
- 22:42SPEAKER_00: To what he said is Sorry, you can be satisfied, but I'm not.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: I'm not here just to win one game.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: I'm here to win everything.
- 22:50SPEAKER_02: I'm here to win a national championship game, is what what what he said there.
- 22:55SPEAKER_02: Cause that's what he wants.
- 22:58SPEAKER_02: That's what people expect in this in this state for him to do.
- 23:04SPEAKER_02: And it's it's gonna be It's gonna be it's gonna be a it's gonna be a grind.
- 23:20SPEAKER_02: You know.
- 23:21SPEAKER_02: You're going on the road, you're you're playing a much different school in Northwestern compared to Weber State.
- 23:29SPEAKER_02: Now you you beat Northwestern, you're 3-0.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: Now you're really gonna start getting more talk of being in the top top 25.
- 23:43SPEAKER_02: Now you're really gonna get okay, this team is re this team is legit.
- 23:48SPEAKER_02: This team is real.
- 24:04SPEAKER_00: And and you know, we're we're ready to go.
