- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to the Bootleg Head podcast. Hey, brought to you
- 0:02Speaker 1: by our new sponsor, Prize Picks. Man, what're we talking about.
- 0:05Speaker 1: It's NFL season. It's amazing we got Prize Picks on board,
- 0:08Speaker 1: right on time to rock with us. Man. The best
- 0:10Speaker 1: place to win cash while watching sports week one is here,
- 0:15Speaker 1: and there's never been a better time for you to
- 0:17Speaker 1: get on the Prize Picks app right now, man. And
- 0:19Speaker 1: what's dope is, since we're Lincoln with Prize Picks, if
- 0:22Speaker 1: you use the promo code Bootleg and sign up right now,
- 0:26Speaker 1: your first five dollars lineup, you will unlock fifty dollars
- 0:29Speaker 1: in lineups. That's right, when you use that promo code Bootleg.
- 0:32Speaker 1: If you play five bucks, you get fifty dollars in lineups.
- 0:35Speaker 1: And let me tell you something. This is amazing because
- 0:38Speaker 1: you could use Prize Picks in forty five states, including
- 0:41Speaker 1: right here in California, Texas. All that, and this is
- 0:44Speaker 1: what's dope about Prize Picks is how easy it is
- 0:46Speaker 1: to use.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Man.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I've been having so much fun, whether it's NBA season,
- 0:49Speaker 1: football season, all that on this Prize Picks app for
- 0:52Speaker 1: so long. Come and join me, Man, Let's have fun.
- 0:54Speaker 1: All you got to do is create a lineup, all right,
- 0:57Speaker 1: and you're going to be using more or less on
- 0:59Speaker 1: a few plays stats. Now, my lock of the week
- 1:02Speaker 1: the Browns. They are playing the Bengals. It's gonna be
- 1:07Speaker 1: a shootout because the Bengals defense is a joke. And
- 1:10Speaker 1: I like the old timer Joe Flocco to have more
- 1:14Speaker 1: than two hundred and thirty seven and a half passing yards.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Now my personal lineup that I did, I did Joe
- 1:22Speaker 1: Flocko more than two hundred and thirty seven and a
- 1:24Speaker 1: half passing yards. I did Ceed Lamb more than a
- 1:27Speaker 1: half a touchdown, and I did Elite Neighbors more than
- 1:30Speaker 1: a half a touchdown. But if you're gonna use any
- 1:33Speaker 1: one of those three in your own lineup, I think
- 1:34Speaker 1: Flocko is the way to go. Anyway, Prize Picks, use
- 1:38Speaker 1: that promo code. Bootleg Welcome to the podcast. Let's get
- 1:40Speaker 1: into it, Butleg Cavs show Man. We got a special

- 2:02Speaker 2: We selling dates out back to bad We got the
- 2:05Speaker 2: region tonight sold out.
- 2:06Speaker 1: We just yeah doing shit. It's crazy, man, Can you
- 2:09Speaker 1: kind of like I feel like you've kind of like
- 2:13Speaker 1: done this R and B hip hop thing at such
- 2:16Speaker 1: a high level and it's it's you know, I think
- 2:20Speaker 1: obviously like when you first came in, was you know,
- 2:23Speaker 1: cut Her Off and those type of records you like
- 2:26Speaker 1: kind of reinvented like what fans expectations of what they're
- 2:30Speaker 1: gonna get from K camp or facts.
- 2:32Speaker 2: I think I've been like that my whole career, even
- 2:34Speaker 2: with when Cutter Off and all that came out before I.
- 2:37Speaker 2: The records I had before that was a whole different
- 2:40Speaker 2: type of vibe, you know what I'm saying. So cut
- 2:41Speaker 2: Her Off was a whole new, whole new sound and
- 2:43Speaker 2: a whole new energy that I brought. And I just
- 2:45Speaker 2: always try to push the needle for it when it
- 2:47Speaker 2: comes to the music. So I feel like it's always
- 2:49Speaker 2: gonna change long as I'm in that studio. This shit
- 2:50Speaker 2: gonna always evolve and turn into something else.
- 2:53Speaker 1: Like I would say, like, would you say when you
- 2:56Speaker 1: do kiss like this, this, this this line of projects
- 3:00Speaker 1: that you have, is it something that you approach it
- 3:02Speaker 1: with where you're like, okay, is it a genre? Do
- 3:06Speaker 1: you feel like what you're doing is like it's is
- 3:08Speaker 1: that R and B slash hip hop? Like cause you're
- 3:10Speaker 1: obviously yeah, yeah, that I'm is such a vibe I appreciated, Bro.
- 3:14Speaker 2: I think I call it trapping B bro, trapping B.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I call it trapping B bro.
- 3:18Speaker 1: I like it.
- 3:19Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. I just I just try
- 3:20Speaker 2: to blend all the world that I'm familiar with. You know,
- 3:23Speaker 2: I know I got a huge female fan base, so
- 3:25Speaker 2: I can't leave them out. And I've been doing this
- 3:27Speaker 2: kid serious, it's like two thousand and eleven, twenty ten
- 3:30Speaker 2: almost like so I feel like it just stuck with me,
- 3:33Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, and is I couldn't even
- 3:35Speaker 2: get away from it if I wanted to, you know
- 3:36Speaker 2: what I'm saying, Like, I feel like this is the
- 3:37Speaker 2: last one. I'm telling myself this is the last one,
- 3:39Speaker 2: like seriously, because I want to start something else. I
- 3:42Speaker 2: want to end it with a bang, like you know
- 3:43Speaker 2: what I'm saying. But we'll see where it go. So
- 3:46Speaker 2: this is the final one. Yeah, but I said that
- 3:47Speaker 2: about five to two though.
- 3:49Speaker 1: But I feel like once the fans start hitting you
- 3:51Speaker 1: and they're like yeah yeah.
- 3:51Speaker 2: But I'm gonna tell you why I dropped six though,
- 3:54Speaker 2: cause when I dropped five, I was within the scope
- 3:55Speaker 2: and I told myself I was gonna drop six when
- 3:57Speaker 2: I go independent. Now you're independent, yeah, I mean depend
- 4:00Speaker 2: I've been independence since twenty two, So I dropped that through.
- 4:03Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, my own situation, distrial situation
- 4:05Speaker 2: with Virgin Virgin. Yeah, shout out to Jack and shout
- 4:07Speaker 2: out Trent. You know what I'm saying. The whole team
- 4:09Speaker 2: over there.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Yeah, No, that's big. So are you because I know
- 4:14Speaker 1: I know some folks who were kind of like working
- 4:16Speaker 1: with you behind the scenes in that uh deal? Was
- 4:19Speaker 1: that something? Because I'm sure you could have had your
- 4:22Speaker 1: picks from the Create music groups, they Foundation, every empires. Whoever,
- 4:28Speaker 1: what was it about the Virgin situation that was attractive
- 4:30Speaker 1: to you?
- 4:31Speaker 2: I ain't gonna lie call that shit fell in my lab.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Bro.
- 4:35Speaker 2: You familiar with.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Music biers, Yeah of course, yeah yeah yeah.
- 4:38Speaker 2: So you know we was on tour with Gates, Well
- 4:41Speaker 2: we didfied, We did fied cities with Gates last year
- 4:43Speaker 2: and one of the last stops was like Knoxville, and
- 4:45Speaker 2: I had an at the party in Nashville, right, And
- 4:48Speaker 2: when we was in Nashville, my DJ was like, music
- 4:51Speaker 2: biz is in Nashville this year, and I remember he
- 4:53Speaker 2: went the year before and I wanted to go, but
- 4:56Speaker 2: I missed it. I think, I don't know what the
- 4:57Speaker 2: hell I was doing. So I was like, shit, let's
- 4:59Speaker 2: stay in Nashville. Let's the music bids, you know what
- 5:00Speaker 2: I'm saying. So we had no tickets, we had nothing.
- 5:04Speaker 2: We just put us to the hotel and finised our
- 5:05Speaker 2: way in the whole situation, you know what I'm saying.
- 5:07Speaker 2: New folks in the building and just got a room.
- 5:09Speaker 2: They was there, supposed to be sold out. We flirting
- 5:11Speaker 2: with the girl at the front there. She gave us
- 5:12Speaker 2: a room and ship. So we really finished our way
- 5:15Speaker 2: into music bids that year. And you know, going to
- 5:19Speaker 2: the seminars and shit, got a day passed and I
- 5:22Speaker 2: was walking upstairs in the ballroom and the guy stopped
- 5:26Speaker 2: me and saying, hey, UK Camp right, And I was
- 5:28Speaker 2: like yeah, He's like, I'm a fan of your music.
- 5:30Speaker 2: And I got an artist, and you featured one of
- 5:33Speaker 2: his songs and y'all doing it. Basically, it's the best
- 5:35Speaker 2: streaming song on aurum Me just dropped right and it
- 5:37Speaker 2: was ed. It was air Benicher was a Brian shafton.
- 5:40Speaker 2: You ran into Brian. Yeah, you know some you know something.
- 5:44Speaker 1: That's what I remember. I was on. I was on
- 5:46Speaker 1: a zoom holl with Brian about some shit and he's like,
- 5:48Speaker 1: I just got off a zoom call with the k
- 5:49Speaker 1: camp man. We're excited to be Yeah, I said, great for.
- 5:53Speaker 2: You, my dogs. So we ran into Brian and we
- 5:55Speaker 2: all connected, you know. You know what I'm saying, because
- 5:58Speaker 2: we was already working in independent play when I got
- 6:01Speaker 2: out of in the scope. You know what I'm saying.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Me and my business partner we running through our own distro.
- 6:04Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. We run the whole independent
- 6:06Speaker 2: play for reer, like on a serious level. So he
- 6:08Speaker 2: was impressed about what we was doing. Long story short
- 6:12Speaker 2: at the music bis, you know what I'm saying. He
- 6:13Speaker 2: kept in contact. He said, I want to help y'all.
- 6:15Speaker 2: He gave us three situations. Version was one of the situations.
- 6:18Speaker 2: I said, let's entertain it and we went back and
- 6:21Speaker 2: forth with the lawyers, and I got a great deal
- 6:22Speaker 2: out of that situation. I went up to La Jacqueline,
- 6:25Speaker 2: met the whole staff, and we've been running ever since.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it's crazy too, because like I feel like with
- 6:30Speaker 1: what they got going on, it's like, you know, if
- 6:33Speaker 1: you go to I won't even say names, but let's
- 6:36Speaker 1: say you go to Distribution Company A, they.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Might have a thousand artists, yeah for sure.
- 6:40Speaker 1: So for you to like really matter in the building,
- 6:42Speaker 1: like one to give you a project manager and probably
- 6:45Speaker 1: has like ten other things going. Oh god.
- 6:47Speaker 2: So it's like I think, I think I'm I wouldn'tay
- 6:51Speaker 2: I'm the priority, but I'm priority over there.
- 6:53Speaker 1: But I know, I know you are, Jacqueline and got
- 6:57Speaker 1: up out of there.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Jacqueline A. My I DN right now trying to
- 6:59Speaker 2: figure out what's the saying. You know what I'm saying.
- 7:00Speaker 2: So it feel good aheaded though, because I feel like
- 7:02Speaker 2: I ain't had it at Inoscope. For sure, I ain't
- 7:05Speaker 2: had it, you know what I'm saying. So this situation
- 7:07Speaker 2: feel better because you know what I'm saying. We plan
- 7:08Speaker 2: on were playing on levers this time. We already had
- 7:11Speaker 2: the foundation and levers so it's like at this point,
- 7:14Speaker 2: it's like a partnership, Like, you know, we know what
- 7:16Speaker 2: we're doing. We'd improve that. We can make money and
- 7:18Speaker 2: we can do this shit on our own. So now
- 7:20Speaker 2: this partner and just make this shit bigger.
- 7:21Speaker 1: What do you feel because you know you've done such
- 7:25Speaker 1: a good job of like building your flock. I say,
- 7:28Speaker 1: you have a pretty crazy fan base.
- 7:29Speaker 2: That's my floaters?
- 7:30Speaker 1: Is that what they call the call them your behaves?
- 7:34Speaker 2: I always wanted to be. It's just like it's working. Now.
- 7:36Speaker 1: Hey, we got to stop the interview to tell you
- 7:38Speaker 1: about our good folks. Odd Socks. Man. Now these are
- 7:40Speaker 1: the odd Socks basics, ladies and gentlemen. Now when I
- 7:43Speaker 1: tell you this is a product that every single day
- 7:48Speaker 1: I'm alive for the last five six years I have
- 7:52Speaker 1: used are these odd Socks basics. Now, what odd Socks
- 7:55Speaker 1: is doing is they're kind of reinventing the sock game,
- 7:57Speaker 1: if we're being honest, and the underwear game. You know,
- 7:59Speaker 1: a lot of time you'll hit Walmart, you'll hit Target,
- 8:02Speaker 1: You'll get some socks, you get some draws. They're affordable,
- 8:05Speaker 1: they end up with holes in them. They don't really
- 8:07Speaker 1: feel great, not odd Socks, Ladies and gentlemen, These odd
- 8:10Speaker 1: Socks Basics are the most comfortable socks I've ever had
- 8:13Speaker 1: on my feet. Not only that, but you're super affordable.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Fourteen ninety nine for a six pack. That's it oddsocks
- 8:23Speaker 1: dot Com. And if you don't believe me, sock check full.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Wait that's the ex is on the other side. There
- 8:31Speaker 1: we go. Ah, you see that. Sorry you had to
- 8:35Speaker 1: see those white legs. But it's so dope that you know,
- 8:39Speaker 1: I get to push a product that I use and
- 8:41Speaker 1: that I love, so odd Socks. They got the six
- 8:44Speaker 1: pack of socks for fourteen ninety nine at odd socks
- 8:46Speaker 1: dot com. The basics. This is the future of socks,
- 8:50Speaker 1: the future of underwear comfort and affordability. I'm talking about
- 8:55Speaker 1: affordability without jeopardizing the quality because they are the most
- 8:58Speaker 1: comfortable socks you ever put on your feet. Ladies and gents,
- 9:01Speaker 1: uh and the ETCeteras. Got to show love to the ETCeteras.
- 9:04Speaker 1: We like all the stripes on the flag. There are
- 9:07Speaker 1: odd socks dot Com. Man, much love to my brothers
- 9:09Speaker 1: over there. Make sure you get some right now odd
- 9:11Speaker 1: socks dot Com. Just get back to the interview. I
- 9:13Speaker 1: feel like early on, like you had these bigger songs,
- 9:16Speaker 1: but the songs are bigger than you. Was it was
- 9:19Speaker 1: because you because you weren't like you weren't like running
- 9:21Speaker 1: around like around that time you had like fucking Migo's
- 9:24Speaker 1: running ruck get It shootouts like the world Star. You
- 9:26Speaker 1: were just you were just putting out hit record.
- 9:28Speaker 2: I was just putting out his and that.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Career songs were bigger than whoever k camp is. So
- 9:32Speaker 1: what was it that you were able to do that
- 9:36Speaker 1: you realized was making like traction and inroads when it
- 9:39Speaker 1: came to like grabbing these fans, and.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I had to get in front of it because that's
- 9:42Speaker 2: not that that wasn't the first time I heard it.
- 9:44Speaker 2: I heard that shit so many times, so it was
- 9:46Speaker 2: like one of them things like I had to you know,
- 9:47Speaker 2: you got to step back and figure out why the
- 9:49Speaker 2: hell is happening? You know what I'm saying? Why is
- 9:51Speaker 2: the song? Of course I make great music, but why
- 9:52Speaker 2: is the song bigger than me? And I had to
- 9:54Speaker 2: realize I wasn't in front of that camera enough, I
- 9:57Speaker 2: wasn't networking enough. I wouldn't be more personable, you know
- 9:59Speaker 2: what I'm saying. I'm a humble, low key too. I'm
- 10:02Speaker 2: a private nigga. I'll be at the crib, I'll be chilling,
- 10:04Speaker 2: I'll be vibed out, you know what I'm saying. So
- 10:06Speaker 2: I knew if I was gonna have to take if
- 10:08Speaker 2: I was gonna take the ship to another level, I
- 10:09Speaker 2: had to step in front of it. And that's what
- 10:12Speaker 2: I did. I start. If you go back to my
- 10:13Speaker 2: it's crazy because like a lot of my album covers,
- 10:16Speaker 2: I used to hide my face. I used to do
- 10:18Speaker 2: all type of ship. I used to be on some
- 10:19Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, Uh whatever they call it,
- 10:21Speaker 2: what they would writ intil the ship. You know when
- 10:23Speaker 2: they what's it's a word.
- 10:25Speaker 1: But I can't think there you go or you just
- 10:27Speaker 1: wouldn't be on it at all. You feel me and
- 10:31Speaker 1: hot chicks.
- 10:31Speaker 2: And I made the switch on I think the float cover.
- 10:34Speaker 2: I think that it's either before that or the Float cover.
- 10:37Speaker 2: I told myself each cover, if you go look at
- 10:39Speaker 2: all my covers, my face is on every single one,
- 10:42Speaker 2: like face face face face face face face face face,
- 10:45Speaker 2: And that was that was the thing. I was like, Okay, cool,
- 10:47Speaker 2: they gonna know who I am. I can't let these
- 10:49Speaker 2: records be bigger than me, and I think I I
- 10:50Speaker 2: think I caught up to it now, No, for sure,
- 10:53Speaker 2: I think I caught up to it. You know what
- 10:54Speaker 2: I'm saying. That's just time in the game for real.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Do you did you notice the difference between like the
- 10:58Speaker 1: hard ticket sales, like between this one. No, no, no, just
- 11:02Speaker 1: in general, like when you started to be more front facing.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Oh hell yeah, hell yeah, when I started stepping know
- 11:06Speaker 2: what I'm saying, When I started moving around more and
- 11:08Speaker 2: just networking and popping out like when you know, the
- 11:11Speaker 2: fans start to see my personality a lot more and
- 11:13Speaker 2: they you know, of course, now obviously, shit, we in
- 11:16Speaker 2: real time right now. We don't tour right now. And
- 11:17Speaker 2: this ship, this ship selling how many dates you're doing
- 11:19Speaker 2: right now? We got twenty nine cities, I think a lot. Man. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:23Speaker 2: we only on day five, running it out, running it up, man,
- 11:28Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. We sold out to read
- 11:29Speaker 2: like we were killing it Like I'm not surprised, but
- 11:33Speaker 2: I'm surprised because you know, I've been torn five years straight, bro,
- 11:38Speaker 2: and you know, it's been a process. It was at
- 11:40Speaker 2: a point where it was only fifty people in the
- 11:42Speaker 2: building and then turning one hundred people. You know what
- 11:44Speaker 2: I'm saying. You know, the process is just torn and
- 11:46Speaker 2: torn and putting that money up and not really coming
- 11:48Speaker 2: back with no financial results. But it's like, is it
- 11:52Speaker 2: shit working for real? You know what I'm saying.
- 11:54Speaker 1: You If you come back it's a hundred one time,
- 11:56Speaker 1: the next time it's five hundred.
- 11:57Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. You gotta but you gotta
- 11:58Speaker 2: keep You gotta keep putting that money. You gotta keep
- 12:00Speaker 2: taking that risk and betting on yourself. And you know,
- 12:02Speaker 2: I've been betting on myself this whole time, and I
- 12:04Speaker 2: fair find I finally feel like it's paying off.
- 12:07Speaker 1: One hundred for you? Man, is there anything that you
- 12:12Speaker 1: would You know a lot of artists they'll they'll sign
- 12:15Speaker 1: a deal and get their advance and you know, it
- 12:19Speaker 1: works out or it doesn't work out. I feel like
- 12:20Speaker 1: the major label versus independent thing, it's really just like
- 12:23Speaker 1: it's not a one, one shoe fits all type of situation.
- 12:26Speaker 2: Right.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Sure, But what would be your advice to somebody who
- 12:30Speaker 1: maybe is contemplating whether or not they maybe they have
- 12:33Speaker 1: an option to sign to a major or they could
- 12:36Speaker 1: continue to be independent and run it up with what
- 12:39Speaker 1: would be that piece of advice you could give give
- 12:41Speaker 1: someone like that.
- 12:42Speaker 2: I'm gonna let these niggas know right now, this independent
- 12:44Speaker 2: space ain't sweet, or they selling on the internet making
- 12:47Speaker 2: it shit seem like, Oh I just go independent. You
- 12:49Speaker 2: can just pop off and make it mine, keep all
- 12:51Speaker 2: the money. You know what I'm saying, That shit ain't sweet.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Like I wake up every day every day and on
- 12:55Speaker 2: top of business and it's you know what I'm saying,
- 12:57Speaker 2: group check just it's it's it's a real business dog.
- 13:00Speaker 2: You got to really take yourself out of the artist's
- 13:03Speaker 2: mindset and become a real business man when it comes
- 13:05Speaker 2: to this shit. And if you don't got your business together,
- 13:07Speaker 2: if you can't really understand contracts and conversations that lawyers
- 13:11Speaker 2: are having or account is that like you can't, if
- 13:13Speaker 2: you can't understand the language, it's gonna be tough for you.
- 13:15Speaker 2: So my advice is, get on the internet, pick up
- 13:19Speaker 2: a book, get on chat, GBT, figure out what publish
- 13:21Speaker 2: and mean, figure out what goddamn royalty splits, all this shit,
- 13:25Speaker 2: everything that come with this shit. You gotta really do
- 13:27Speaker 2: your research. And it took me years to do. I'm
- 13:28Speaker 2: still learning shit like my lawyer text me some another
- 13:31Speaker 2: day and I was like, what the hell does that mean?
- 13:32Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying to put that shit in chat?
- 13:34Speaker 2: Like you know what I'm saying, Just it's a never
- 13:36Speaker 2: ending process of learning, but if you get in this space,
- 13:38Speaker 2: it can be very lucrative if you know what the
- 13:40Speaker 2: hell you're doing. But independent spaces just not no just
- 13:43Speaker 2: no layup, Like I'm about to just jumping the shit
- 13:45Speaker 2: and just win.
- 13:45Speaker 1: How important is the pub side because I feel like
- 13:48Speaker 1: artists don't. It's like that's like trigonometry or yeah, arithmetic
- 13:52Speaker 1: to a lot of artists. It's like the publishing shit
- 13:54Speaker 1: is so confusing.
- 13:55Speaker 2: It is, but it ain't. You know what I'm saying
- 13:57Speaker 2: it Like it was confused to me at first, so
- 13:59Speaker 2: I can so I tell you point, it is confusing,
- 14:01Speaker 2: but once you figure it out, it's just extratreme and income.
- 14:04Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying, Like it's just your songs.
- 14:06Speaker 2: There's like mechanical woryaltyaster but like yeah, the mechanical words,
- 14:10Speaker 2: Like I don't want to say it wrong, but it's
- 14:12Speaker 2: like you know radio then you got It's like it's
- 14:14Speaker 2: a whole bunch of shit, man, it's like it's it's confusing
- 14:16Speaker 2: as fun. You're right, that's your confusing hell. But you
- 14:21Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, it's just you got to just
- 14:23Speaker 2: get somebody to collect and add in your ship and
- 14:25Speaker 2: just you know, have a good relationship with that person
- 14:27Speaker 2: and she can like what I do with my publisher
- 14:29Speaker 2: shout out to temmy. You know what I'm saying, Like anything,
- 14:31Speaker 2: I don't know, I'd be like, hey, what what is this?
- 14:33Speaker 2: What is it? What is it? What does that mean?
- 14:34Speaker 2: What does that mean? How does that work? Just you
- 14:36Speaker 2: just learned by day? But that check getting cleared, you
- 14:40Speaker 2: damn well published me? You know check.
- 14:43Speaker 1: You know a lot of artists have been selling catalog lately. Yeah,
- 14:46Speaker 1: is that something that you've entertained it all or what? Yeah?
- 14:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I had before, probably two or three years ago,
- 14:51Speaker 2: but it wasn't enough for me. It wasn't enough to like,
- 14:54Speaker 2: I want to get all my ship? Just be good.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Did you tell anything? No?
- 14:57Speaker 2: I got all my ship? Yeah? I was.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I was like, you know, I guess it really depends
- 15:01Speaker 1: on where you are, right. It's if you need to
- 15:03Speaker 1: hit a lick, That's what I'm saying.
- 15:04Speaker 2: If you need it, yeah, sell it. You know what
- 15:05Speaker 2: I'm saying, to use that money to flip it. But
- 15:08Speaker 2: but if not, if you don't need it, like you
- 15:09Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, Because I order the catalog the
- 15:11Speaker 2: more it's worth. And I just went independent, what three
- 15:13Speaker 2: years ago, so my kettle, my independent catalog only three
- 15:16Speaker 2: years old. So I want at least wait till it's
- 15:18Speaker 2: like eight or nine years old. You know what I mean.
- 15:20Speaker 2: You keep running it, keep running out. You know, it's
- 15:22Speaker 2: like compound interest. The more I dropped, the more, you
- 15:24Speaker 2: know what I'm saying. My next move is you know
- 15:27Speaker 2: how that Jacqueline and you know what I'm saying, bringing
- 15:29Speaker 2: some bringing some artists and really turning you know what
- 15:31Speaker 2: I'm saying, turn the whole system up and creating a
- 15:33Speaker 2: whole you know, whole little movie like some Quincy Jones shit,
- 15:37Speaker 2: like I'm on some to Maine appreciate next, you know,
- 15:39Speaker 2: just trying to turn the city up.
- 15:41Speaker 1: I was gonna say, uh, I know, you know, working
- 15:43Speaker 1: with Brian and those Virgin guys, but probably want you
- 15:46Speaker 1: to do your own distribution company, knowing we already got
- 15:49Speaker 1: our own. Sure are you bringing artists on board to
- 15:51Speaker 1: kind of like help them out?
- 15:53Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure. I'm with it all. You know what
- 15:54Speaker 2: I'm saying, Like, you know, this game get triggered. You
- 15:57Speaker 2: know how hard this game is and ship so and
- 15:59Speaker 2: I know how bad I had it in this motherfucker
- 16:01Speaker 2: when I had my deal. So what I'm trying to
- 16:04Speaker 2: do is just I need somebody who can just work
- 16:05Speaker 2: harder than me. Man, and I understand the business. I
- 16:07Speaker 2: don't want to babysit nothing, don't. I want somebody who
- 16:10Speaker 2: just is Benes first, music, not business, well Benness first,
- 16:14Speaker 2: for sure, business first, Benes first. You know what I'm saying.
- 16:16Speaker 2: But talented as a motherfucker, know how to maneuver to
- 16:18Speaker 2: this game because the ship get tricky, and it can
- 16:20Speaker 2: it can it can fuck you over if you don't
- 16:21Speaker 2: know what you're doing. So that's what really what I
- 16:23Speaker 2: be looking for. Bro.
- 16:25Speaker 1: You got some big features on this project. Shout Ari
- 16:27Speaker 1: Lennox is on.
- 16:28Speaker 2: There, y Hi. Yeah, those some last minute motherfuckers.
- 16:33Speaker 1: That was Carolina Homie Joe true Font. Shout to him,
- 16:35Speaker 1: Shout out Joe. You know Joe all time white white
- 16:38Speaker 1: right there, Joe need to start cussing or something. It's
- 16:40Speaker 1: a white guy was sold. We got to shout him out.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Yeah, for sure, he need to start cussing. Joe, you
- 16:44Speaker 2: need to start cussing, But you're gonna get all of him.
- 16:45Speaker 2: You start cussing. He don't cuss.
- 16:47Speaker 1: He doesn't cuss. Hell, Now, good for him. That's a
- 16:50Speaker 1: tough thing to pull off from me.
- 16:51Speaker 2: You don't, cause I ain't never heard Joe said cuse I.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Mean my kids school letting fucks fly. And my wife
- 16:56Speaker 1: looks at me like, are you fucking And I'm like, dude,
- 16:59Speaker 1: my bad living fly for that's why you shouldn't bring
- 17:02Speaker 1: me to this ship.
- 17:02Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying telling me, But nah, we
- 17:04Speaker 2: got some great features.
- 17:05Speaker 1: What was the last one that you said? There was
- 17:06Speaker 1: something at the finish line? What was what? Ari?
- 17:11Speaker 2: That was the last one? That was That was the
- 17:13Speaker 2: last one that she had sent me the idea through
- 17:16Speaker 2: a text and I was like, man, cut that. I
- 17:18Speaker 2: want to put it on my album, and she cut
- 17:20Speaker 2: it and sent it to me. I did that verse
- 17:21Speaker 2: at the same day. I sent it to k the
- 17:23Speaker 2: Ky engineer. He mixed the whole album. I sent it
- 17:25Speaker 2: to Ky he mixed it up. That was the last one,
- 17:27Speaker 2: and before that it was it was tie. Yeah. I
- 17:32Speaker 2: had flew to La during what.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Was the BT sounds about right June.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I seen him in I had seen him in
- 17:37Speaker 2: that one club with Sean Baron and Leon Thomas, and
- 17:40Speaker 2: I text Sean it's like, hey, set up a session.
- 17:42Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. I'm in time trying to
- 17:43Speaker 2: finish the album. And we put him on TI ship
- 17:45Speaker 2: and I did that early morning. He noted his verse
- 17:48Speaker 2: out like every feature was like clutch.
- 17:51Speaker 1: But so you and Ari were texting. She's like, yeah,
- 17:53Speaker 1: I got this idea and You're like, yeah, I need that.
- 17:56Speaker 1: I need it because she wrote the song. It was
- 17:58Speaker 1: called Floating.
- 17:58Speaker 2: I was like, ship per you already know.
- 18:00Speaker 1: Man. Want to give a shout out to slap Woods

- 19:01Speaker 1: to the podcast. Are you pretty like, uh, you know
- 19:05Speaker 1: accessible when it comes to like maybe for artists wanted
- 19:07Speaker 1: the verse from you and they're dope, like.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I wouldnt tay, I wouldn't say too accessible, But
- 19:11Speaker 2: if I fuck with it, I'm gonna find it. Yeah,
- 19:13Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. I don't really if somebody
- 19:15Speaker 2: send me some ship like hop on this, they gotta
- 19:17Speaker 2: be just the cold of song.
- 19:18Speaker 1: But take set up someone to say you meet meet
- 19:20Speaker 1: somebody at an afterparty and they're like.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I actually did that. I I I met somebody
- 19:23Speaker 2: at a gun range. I'll be at the gun range
- 19:25Speaker 2: all the time, ship, and I'm gonna tell you crazy
- 19:27Speaker 2: as story. So you know I was. I was going
- 19:29Speaker 2: to gun range like four five times a week, and
- 19:32Speaker 2: there was this dude in there. You know, he say
- 19:34Speaker 2: he was cousins with the artists from Atlanta that I'm
- 19:35Speaker 2: real cool with. You know what I say, everybody wrap
- 19:37Speaker 2: in the city. Of course, you know what I'm saying.
- 19:39Speaker 2: So he was like, yeah, man, you gotta hear my ship.
- 19:40Speaker 2: And I was like, yo, i'mna fuck with you. I'm
- 19:42Speaker 2: gonna tap in. So after like two weeks of him
- 19:45Speaker 2: saying that ship, I was just in a mood to
- 19:48Speaker 2: hear the ship today. I was like, bro, just send
- 19:50Speaker 2: it since my email so you know what I'm saying.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Me and my security leaving the gun range, I get
- 19:55Speaker 2: in the car, I just play it and we like
- 19:58Speaker 2: getting the but I got doors open. I'm just playing
- 19:59Speaker 2: a lot out and this ship came on. I was like, boy,
- 20:03Speaker 2: this ship hardest fuck is that? Rolling and rolling and
- 20:06Speaker 2: rolling and rolling. This ship was so all right. I
- 20:09Speaker 2: went back in the gun range, like, hey, where he at?
- 20:11Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Where you at? But he
- 20:12Speaker 2: was about to get off. I had to go find him.
- 20:14Speaker 2: I said, I'm gonna do your verse a night, bro,
- 20:16Speaker 2: and he was like, you for real? I did the verse.
- 20:19Speaker 1: He charged him.
- 20:20Speaker 2: I ain't charged him nothing, that's do. And he tried
- 20:22Speaker 2: the project. He was probably he was about to try
- 20:24Speaker 2: to put the song on the project. I said, don't
- 20:25Speaker 2: put it on the project yet, just save it, do
- 20:27Speaker 2: it right, and then put it out. But there's the
- 20:28Speaker 2: song so hard, this project hard. His name tight shout
- 20:30Speaker 2: out Tighten man.
- 20:31Speaker 1: That's fire.
- 20:32Speaker 2: You never know, You never know. There's a lot of
- 20:35Speaker 2: talents in, you know, saying motherfuckers out here. You just
- 20:37Speaker 2: got to take the time and just whatever you like
- 20:39Speaker 2: is what you like.
- 20:40Speaker 1: But I met an artist who was a waiter at
- 20:44Speaker 1: outback See and then I ended up signing him. That's hard,
- 20:49Speaker 1: And then I ended up selling his record deal to
- 20:50Speaker 1: Matt Cook from Ethica, who ended up signing him.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Yeah, he got something, he was fire, he was he
- 20:57Speaker 2: got some right, But you just never know, never know,
- 21:00Speaker 2: brocause pay for my whole bill.
- 21:02Speaker 1: He's like he was our waiter and then he's like, oh,
- 21:04Speaker 1: by the way, I took care of your bill, and
- 21:05Speaker 1: I'm like, what do you mean? Yeah? Yeah, it's like
- 21:08Speaker 1: I'm an upcoming artist. When you was you know, when
- 21:11Speaker 1: you were in Saint Pete, h I used to listen
- 21:13Speaker 1: to you. I was like, sem me your link, bro,
- 21:16Speaker 1: you bought me dinner being my family dinner. It's like
- 21:18Speaker 1: six of us.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what he was doing. That's a good little.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Let's strategic play right there, one hundred percent. Man, who
- 21:27Speaker 1: in your opinion in Atlanta right now? Because I do
- 21:31Speaker 1: feel like Atlanta is you know j I D just
- 21:34Speaker 1: dropped offset album, just dropped, you just dropped? Who are
- 21:39Speaker 1: you paying attention to?
- 21:40Speaker 2: That?
- 21:40Speaker 1: Just kind of on the younger side of things in
- 21:41Speaker 1: the city.
- 21:43Speaker 2: On the younger side in the city right now. You know,
- 21:49Speaker 2: I'm gonna always do home team artists called a little
- 21:51Speaker 2: crank from my side of town.
- 21:53Speaker 1: Okay, tough might be the most Atlantic name of all time,
- 21:57Speaker 1: Little crank for sure. Yeah, what do you listening to
- 22:00Speaker 1: right now? Like, just in general albums, it's been dropping
- 22:03Speaker 1: that you've been bump to.
- 22:04Speaker 2: See what I got right now? Man, I'm always bumping.
- 22:06Speaker 2: I got some little shimmy here. I got some Newty,
- 22:08Speaker 2: I got some cash cot Bang, I got.
- 22:11Speaker 1: That's a little shit.
- 22:12Speaker 2: I got me. I got a Metro new I got
- 22:14Speaker 2: the Money, I got Sniper, I got kodak.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Yo the Metro album I love. I don't know what
- 22:18Speaker 1: like like, I don't understand what the disconnect is from
- 22:22Speaker 1: people loving this album. Disconnect Young DROs On there wrapping
- 22:27Speaker 1: his fucking.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Disconnected is if you wasn't part of that era in
- 22:31Speaker 2: the city, you're not gonna get it.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I just don't. I like, got on a plane the
- 22:35Speaker 1: night had dropped out of a Red Eye and I
- 22:37Speaker 1: downloaded the whole tape and I was on the plane
- 22:39Speaker 1: and I was like, Jesus.
- 22:40Speaker 2: This is like it's like it's like that old Atlanta.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Hey, we gotta wrap up this interview another one presented
- 22:45Speaker 1: by Hard Dang Baby, you already know what it is.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Shout out to Harden for presenting another episode of the

- 23:28Speaker 1: salute to them. Let's get back to the interview. There's
- 23:30Speaker 1: so many artists that are from that era that like,
- 23:33Speaker 1: you know, I just always wonder, like what happened to them?
- 23:38Speaker 2: By business?
- 23:38Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying, Business, Like what happened to
- 23:41Speaker 1: Like the shop Boys party hard. You know what I'm saying, Like.

- 23:49Speaker 2: I see you know what I'm saying, You still see
- 23:50Speaker 2: everybody in the city. You know what I'm saying. Some
- 23:52Speaker 2: of them ain't groups no more. Someone went solo, you
- 23:54Speaker 2: know what I'm saying, Like the Travis.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Porter was so massive, Like they have so many big.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Bucket They got a lot of big ones. I still
- 24:01Speaker 2: quiz all of my dogs, like I see them. I
- 24:04Speaker 2: think they're on that album there going crazy. They got
- 24:07Speaker 2: some schooling on there. Everybody on there. Ship the whole
- 24:09Speaker 2: city on that, not the whole city, but the majority
- 24:12Speaker 2: of the city on the walk on there. Yeah, Rosco
- 24:15Speaker 2: on the whole there. Yeah, I hold Atlanta. I love
- 24:19Speaker 2: trying to Metro for doing that. Try to spins.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Missing the Young l A feature though he on there?
- 24:25Speaker 2: Is it? Yeah?

- 24:34Speaker 1: Spend the block. Did you see? Yes?
- 24:35Speaker 2: It did. I forgot how it went.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Viraul, I don't know how.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Actually I do know shout Nart and b Nar and
- 24:43Speaker 2: b you know what I'm saying. They was working with
- 24:44Speaker 2: uh uh l a. Who else was in there? Uh
- 24:51Speaker 2: Young Ralph? They were They were just you know, I'm saying,
- 24:53Speaker 2: putting content out every day with l A l A
- 24:56Speaker 2: Alley boys. They were just they just had the content, man, Yeah,
- 24:59Speaker 2: they had the content going. I think it just cracked over.
- 25:01Speaker 2: I think the algorithm just cracked over and just ain't
- 25:04Speaker 2: I just caught a whole another wave and you know,
- 25:06Speaker 2: turned them back up. Shout out to that. I like that.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Shout out to beating my brothers.
- 25:10Speaker 1: You're somebody who worked with like the Maribas of the
- 25:12Speaker 1: world pretty early, Maribas, Mariba the singer.
- 25:16Speaker 2: Oh Mariva, Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Whole crew out of Atlanta, the Spirit Village Crew. J
- 25:21Speaker 1: I d It's black, It's Mariba Earth Gang, all these guys. Yeah,
- 25:26Speaker 1: how dope? Is it kind of been to just see
- 25:28Speaker 1: that movement like it's been.
- 25:30Speaker 2: It's been. It's been cool to see because Atlanta got
- 25:32Speaker 2: so many damn flavors and so many goddamn lanes that
- 25:36Speaker 2: anybody can shine in their own right. Like with Mariva.
- 25:39Speaker 2: We go back from a cons in the same writing camp.
- 25:43Speaker 1: Crazy.
- 25:44Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. This is back when before
- 25:45Speaker 2: I got signed, before I had anything going on, we
- 25:48Speaker 2: used to all right together and you know, con used
- 25:50Speaker 2: to take us to Orlando and in two weeks chefs
- 25:54Speaker 2: writing camp students. That's a time lucky. They used to
- 25:58Speaker 2: be there. Asian. I don't know if you know Asia,
- 26:02Speaker 2: but she spelled it kind of different. There's a lot
- 26:04Speaker 2: of folks that's in the game still. That was a
- 26:07Speaker 2: part of that. Sorry the kid.
- 26:09Speaker 1: He's fire man. Yeah, got a whole podcast. Shot.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Yeah, he got, he got, he got. He was just
- 26:13Speaker 2: with us last night that the club, your club with
- 26:15Speaker 2: us was he was outside almost fluent for it. Man,
- 26:18Speaker 2: he should have the show was crazy. That the show.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Unlike you, I'm not capable of waking up and being

- 26:54Speaker 2: I didn't play college ball. I brought my ankle twelfth grade, damn.
- 26:57Speaker 1: In some of the league.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Yeah, and that kind of.
- 26:59Speaker 1: It's kind of crazy because like my son plays at
- 27:01Speaker 1: AAU and I feel like these kids play so much basketball.
- 27:04Speaker 1: By the time they get to wherever they're going, uh huh,
- 27:06Speaker 1: they burned out. Well it's like China. It's you know,
- 27:10Speaker 1: it's like I feel like, you know, like you see
- 27:12Speaker 1: all these like dudes getting injured now by getting because
- 27:16Speaker 1: they've been fucking playing they were eleven years old.
- 27:18Speaker 2: That's true. It depends on how.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Crazy basketball it used to be. Like you you make
- 27:24Speaker 1: your middle school team, uh huh, and then it was over,
- 27:27Speaker 1: uh huh. And then you'd be like, I'm a try
- 27:29Speaker 1: out freshman year.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Now it's like, ayo, you're eleven, I'm gonna put you
- 27:34Speaker 1: with the.
- 27:35Speaker 2: Team needs to be out of there about eighteen nineteen.
- 27:38Speaker 2: But nah, it's a whole different game. Man. It's ship
- 27:40Speaker 2: I don't demo tapped in to me.
- 27:42Speaker 1: But now now that you're fully indy, are you already like,
- 27:46Speaker 1: I mean, you could drop on you want so this album.
- 27:48Speaker 1: You obviously put a lot of effort into this album.
- 27:50Speaker 1: You're touring it, but are you like, like, are you
- 27:51Speaker 1: able to kind of like are you playing out the
- 27:54Speaker 1: next twelve months? You already have the next album figured out?
- 27:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I got I got a lot of music, bro,
- 27:58Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, ain't not just the craft
- 27:59Speaker 2: of music can put it all together. I stay in
- 28:02Speaker 2: the studio, of course, I got to stay in the studio.
- 28:04Speaker 2: But I want to take a different approach next year.
- 28:06Speaker 2: I want to go just just more on the brand, inside, lifestyle,
- 28:09Speaker 2: just front end side of it. You know, I be
- 28:11Speaker 2: in the studio twenty four seven. I put my heart
- 28:13Speaker 2: and soul into the projects. It's like, Okay, I want
- 28:16Speaker 2: to take a different approach. Still stay in the studio. Still,
- 28:18Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying, shop, I goddamn sword, but
- 28:21Speaker 2: just be on the front end of it a little more,
- 28:23Speaker 2: you know what I'm saying. Like, like we were talking
- 28:24Speaker 2: about earlier, just not letting these records be bigger than me.
- 28:27Speaker 2: I'm trying to be bigger than I'm trying to the brand.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Just push it out there even further. So that's my plan.
- 28:32Speaker 1: What about Uh do you do writing for other artists? U? Nah?
- 28:38Speaker 1: Like what You've never written this? I've written and been like, man,
- 28:41Speaker 1: I can't see this.
- 28:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I got a lot of shit like that.
- 28:43Speaker 1: I know someone who can.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I just don't like writing. I just seen a
- 28:48Speaker 2: clip pop up on my tip took the other day
- 28:50Speaker 2: when I said some shit like this. It was just
- 28:53Speaker 2: I don't want to be in no studio session with
- 28:55Speaker 2: a thousand riders trying to get a placement for Beyonce Rihanna.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Well you're definitely beyond that, yes.
- 29:01Speaker 2: Exactly, but still I got I got an r that
- 29:03Speaker 2: be calling me like camp, you come in and get
- 29:06Speaker 2: the writers camp. Like, bro, I'm not doing that ship.
- 29:07Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying. Compound in your room. I
- 29:11Speaker 2: love writing camps and ship, but it's ours. It was
- 29:13Speaker 2: mine and my my team is bringing your people and
- 29:16Speaker 2: bringing my people and were working on this up.
- 29:18Speaker 1: You tell me what you're looking for and then I'll
- 29:19Speaker 1: handle it on my send you some options.
- 29:22Speaker 2: But like, if I'm not in the studio with beyond
- 29:24Speaker 2: s and all these big artists like one on one
- 29:26Speaker 2: and we're working, I don't want to do that ship, right,
- 29:28Speaker 2: I don't do that ship. I'm past that, you know
- 29:30Speaker 2: what I'm saying.
- 29:30Speaker 1: I feel like the producer game is the same way.
- 29:32Speaker 1: I'll be telling these like these producers, I'm like, man,
- 29:34Speaker 1: don't chase placements, find the artists.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Find artist and attached to them and grow with them
- 29:38Speaker 2: and give them their sound, give they sound. That's what
- 29:40Speaker 2: I'm doing next. No I produced too. I produce like
- 29:42Speaker 2: five six on the album Fire. I produce my last
- 29:45Speaker 2: thing I produce spend the Block. I've been on a
