- 0:18Speaker 1: One thing I need.
- 0:20Speaker 2: some dad hacks on some dad advice out there is
- 0:24Speaker 2: activities like, like cool setups. Like not like these of, Hey,
- 0:27Speaker 2: take this ball, throw the ball, like go, you know,
- 0:30Speaker 2: stand on this little box and jump off of it.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Like just some stuff for the kids to do while
- 0:35Speaker 2: dad is working out is what, is what I'm going
- 0:38Speaker 2: to need from the Papa team six community. Cause I
- 0:41Speaker 2: was ripping around with Scotty Char was doing some shopping
- 0:45Speaker 2: with Rue.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:46Speaker 2: But I have Scotty at the house. We went out
- 0:47Speaker 2: in the garage and she rips around. She's got like
- 0:49Speaker 2: her little bike. She's got some things to do that
- 0:51Speaker 2: I keep her busy while I'm working out. But part
- 0:54Speaker 2: of me sitting there wondering, I bet there's some stuff
- 0:56Speaker 2: out there, whether it's like creative little things to set
- 0:59Speaker 2: up or even... Like something to add to the toolbox.
- 1:03Speaker 2: You need the toy. You need the dog equivalent of
- 1:06Speaker 2: the chew toy that has the peanut butter in it,
- 1:08Speaker 2: and they distract themselves.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Just licking the peanut butter. Yeah, something like that. Because
- 1:11Speaker 1: I could get a pen and just put her in
- 1:12Speaker 1: the pen, right? But I'm not trying to. You can't confine.
- 1:15Speaker 1: You can't contain Scottzilla that way. No, you can't.
- 1:18Speaker 2: But that's what's on top of my mind for this episode.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Welcome to another episode of For the Dads. PT6 community.
- 1:24Speaker 2: We have a ton of... Of write-ins this week, we
- 1:27Speaker 2: got three call-ins to hit. This is a show where
- 1:29Speaker 2: we embrace fatherhood. We talk, we whine, complain, embrace the suck,
- 1:33Speaker 2: talk about the things that we love, things that we're
- 1:36Speaker 2: seeing out there. We engage a lot with our community,
- 1:38Speaker 2: but it's just dad talk. A couple of dads drinking
- 1:40Speaker 2: some lollipop. Our boy, Sherm, he's back this week.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Big round of applause. Thank you for having me. Thank
- 1:47Speaker 1: you for having me. Absolutely. The Chase episode ripped. That
- 1:50Speaker 1: was a lot of fun. Y'all crushed. And it did rip.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Chase was good. Chase was really good.
- 1:56Speaker 2: He was setting stone on the kid not getting a
- 1:59Speaker 2: phone until 16.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I liked that he was 10 toes down. 10 toes down. Like,
- 2:04Speaker 1: you saw the look in his face.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Like, oh, I don't even know if there's room to
- 2:08Speaker 2: have some humor about it.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Because he got this look like, you know. That great question.
- 2:13Speaker 1: He was leaving the zoo out the tunnel back in
- 2:14Speaker 1: the day.
- 2:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Great question posed by you of, well, let's say, you know,
- 2:19Speaker 1: that dad down the road, he's talking to you now.
- 2:21Speaker 1: You know, like, what do you say then? Yeah. She's
- 2:24Speaker 1: not getting a phone. Yeah. It ain't happening. So quit asking.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:30Speaker 2: But if you're new to the channel, uh, if you
- 2:33Speaker 2: tune into us every week, make sure you're subscribed. If
- 2:35Speaker 2: you're new, make sure to go ahead, encourage you highly
- 2:38Speaker 2: recommend subscribe to the boys channel. Follow us on all platforms.

- 2:49Speaker 3: We are.
- 2:49Speaker 2: We're, we're all over the place, but, uh, awesome episode
- 2:52Speaker 2: this week. Fired up to have you back. Want to
- 2:54Speaker 2: catch up. Just give some ketchup. Need some ketchup. I'm
- 2:57Speaker 2: sure you got some dad wins and losses going on.
- 3:00Speaker 1: I got a lot of dad wins. I got some
- 3:03Speaker 1: dad losses that I turned into dad wins. Last week,
- 3:11Speaker 1: I was not feeling good. I took the week off
- 3:15Speaker 1: as far as just kind of taking care of some
- 3:19Speaker 1: stuff at home. And it was a really good time
- 3:22Speaker 1: of just pouring into myself, but pouring into my family
- 3:29Speaker 1: as well. And just kind of taking care of, what
- 3:33Speaker 1: do we call the stuff at the beginning of an episode?
- 3:35Speaker 1: We always, housekeeping. Taking out the trash. Taking out the trash.
- 3:38Speaker 1: You're taking out the trash. You do some housekeeping, some
- 3:41Speaker 1: house cleaning. I was taking out the trash. Cleaning up
- 3:43Speaker 1: some shelves. Physically and metaphorically taking out the trash. Hanging
- 3:47Speaker 1: up a shelf. I did hang up a shelf. I
- 3:52Speaker 1: built some stuff. I actually cleaned out the entire garage.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Our garage is clean now, which that was crazy. And
- 4:03Speaker 1: it was a really good week. I missed you guys
- 4:05Speaker 1: a lot. I missed you guys a lot, and I'm
- 4:07Speaker 1: really happy to be back. We miss you.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 4:09Speaker 1: You were dearly missed. Thank you, guys. Thank you.
- 4:12Speaker 2: People showing up in the comments, missing Sherm. they were
- 4:15Speaker 2: got follow-ups we got pt6 community we got shout outs

- 4:31Speaker 2: for the dads in this podcast as a papa team
- 4:33Speaker 2: six member go ahead and write in anywhere youtube comments
- 4:36Speaker 2: spotify comments on social media for the dad's pod the
- 4:39Speaker 2: boys again We're all over the place.
- 4:41Speaker 1: We're starting to get... I love seeing PT Sickos putting
- 4:46Speaker 1: stuff in the comments, DMing us, comments of episodes of posts.
- 4:52Speaker 1: I love seeing that. Dude, yes. But we're starting to
- 4:55Speaker 1: get some posts that are just being shot into the
- 4:58Speaker 1: ether of X, which I love so much. It'll just
- 5:03Speaker 1: be tagging Deke, Chef, Will, and I. Hey, where are
- 5:06Speaker 1: the breakfast burritos? People are reading this with no context. Damn,
- 5:11Speaker 1: are you coming back or the fuck? I'm not trying
- 5:13Speaker 1: to just dive into the breakfast burritos as you know.
- 5:17Speaker 1: That's the most top of mind thing is where are
- 5:19Speaker 1: the breakfast burritos? I know. But I love seeing people.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I'll use another example that we can dive into breakfast burritos, Shep.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Somebody was like... Hey, I saw this shirt out in
- 5:32Speaker 1: the wild, like, at will, at deke, at chef, at jerk.
- 5:35Speaker 1: But what's really top of mind is where are the
- 5:38Speaker 1: breakfast burritos? It's the breakfast burritos. It is true. That is,
- 5:43Speaker 1: I saw somebody had a day count. Yeah.
- 5:48Speaker 2: And people, you know, again, breakfast burritos. But, hey, the
- 5:51Speaker 2: Papa Team 6 shirt last week that was dropped, number
- 5:54Speaker 2: one seller.
- 5:55Speaker 1: That's crazy. Number one hitter in the Bustin' with the
- 5:57Speaker 1: Boys store.
- 5:58Speaker 6: It sold so well, Will, that we made the crew
- 6:00Speaker 6: neck Sherm has on because the shirt sold so well. So, Sherm,
- 6:04Speaker 6: do a little waggle for me.
- 6:05Speaker 1: We haven't even done an ad on this thing. We've
- 6:08Speaker 1: just done it on this pod.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Like, yeah, I don't think I posted about it last week,
- 6:12Speaker 2: which I'm sure Deke's going to be up my ass about.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Oh, he'll be up your ass. But just organically talking
- 6:18Speaker 1: about it on.
- 6:21Speaker 1: This show and knowing that it's the, it's a top dog.
- 6:25Speaker 1: It's a top dog in the yard. I mean, that
- 6:27Speaker 1: was crazy to hear. And that was this morning's team meeting.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And that was really cool to hear. I feel terrible
- 6:35Speaker 1: because what was going to be a fun shout out
- 6:40Speaker 1: to our PT sickos is turned into chefs in a
- 6:43Speaker 1: corner right now. I can see it.
- 6:45Speaker 3: I know.
- 6:45Speaker 1: A little bit of a corner. If we're not going
- 6:47Speaker 1: to allow him to talk, that's kind of us putting
- 6:49Speaker 1: him in the kennel. I got muzzled? Whoa, easy show.
- 6:54Speaker 1: You're not going to let him defend himself? Permission to speak?
- 7:01Speaker 1: Captain of Seaman Team 6, go ahead.
- 7:04Speaker 7: I wanted to see if Thursday breakfast burritos would work.
- 7:10Speaker 7: Would we be open to it?
- 7:13Speaker 2: Look, I think at this point, we'll be happy if
- 7:15Speaker 2: you bring in anything at any point in time. There's
- 7:17Speaker 2: no expectation.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Bar's low. I think we got to do away with
- 7:21Speaker 1: the expectation.
- 7:22Speaker 7: I'm not, in terms of what we want, I can
- 7:25Speaker 7: put the expectation of, hey, I can deliver a burrito
- 7:28Speaker 7: on a certain day. That's the one I need to
- 7:30Speaker 7: make up. That's a very basic level expectation.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I mean, a couple of weeks went by and probably
- 7:36Speaker 1: the community's howling out there.
- 7:38Speaker 7: I wanted to make sure Sherm got in on the
- 7:40Speaker 7: breakfast burritos. It wouldn't feel right last week. Also, he's
- 7:42Speaker 7: looking out for his boy. Yeah. How fucked up of me.
- 7:47Speaker 7: to all of a sudden deliver breakfast burritos and Sherm's
- 7:50Speaker 7: not here. Like what kind of guy am I? That
- 7:52Speaker 7: would have been messed up.
- 7:54Speaker 1: That's a, that's a, Oh, we can't bust balls on
- 7:59Speaker 1: the show anymore. That was good. I did post a video.
- 8:02Speaker 1: That's the card he had. That's the card he had.
- 8:04Speaker 7: I did post a video of me drafting my team,
- 8:07Speaker 7: like while cooking dinner. because that whole thing and one
- 8:10Speaker 7: of the comments is uh it's all my buddies in
- 8:12Speaker 7: the league commenting and then there's just one pt sicko
- 8:14Speaker 7: who's like this ain't breakfast burritos so i need i
- 8:20Speaker 7: need to get i need to get this off my
- 8:23Speaker 7: back we need to get it done.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Pt sicko chat chat can we spam uh breakfast burritos
- 8:29Speaker 1: in the chat please just because it makes me laugh
- 8:32Speaker 1: anytime i see.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Write a comment about chef and the breakfast burritos because
- 8:36Speaker 2: i like to scroll and see the comments and i
- 8:39Speaker 2: like to chuckle.
- 8:40Speaker 1: And for people that have never seen the show it's
- 8:43Speaker 1: got to be so confusing what the hell are they
- 8:46Speaker 1: talking about go a couple episodes back and then he
- 8:49Speaker 1: let down the entire team.
- 8:51Speaker 7: Yeah i i forgot to get i told will i
- 8:53Speaker 7: would um Make breakfast burritos for the whole squad on
- 8:57Speaker 7: a Sunday recording.
- 8:58Speaker 1: We're all coming in. Yep.
- 8:59Speaker 7: And then while I made that promise, totally forgot that
- 9:02Speaker 7: I had a wedding that I was in that was
- 9:05Speaker 7: going to take up all weekend. And then I thought
- 9:08Speaker 7: Will would nicely be like, hey, let's do like an
- 9:10Speaker 7: 11 o'clock on Sunday recording. And then I got the
- 9:12Speaker 7: text at the reception. Hey, how about 830 in the morning?
- 9:16Speaker 7: And I immediately was like, this.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Is going to be tough. Time out, time out, time out.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Are you taking accountability right now? Are you passing the
- 9:22Speaker 2: buck on like random external things?
- 9:24Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 9:24Speaker 7: This is not an excuse. I'm giving context to you. Wedding, reception,
- 9:29Speaker 7: text came.
- 9:30Speaker 1: His dad was there in the kitchen too.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yeah, that blocked you on the, I guess, the skillets
- 9:36Speaker 2: and stuff.
- 9:37Speaker 7: No, we didn't have tortillas or anything that we needed.
- 9:40Speaker 7: That's all on me. This is still on me. I'm
- 9:42Speaker 7: not putting it on anyone else.
- 9:43Speaker 1: But all I'm saying is all I'm hearing is wedding, reception, latex. Yeah,
- 9:47Speaker 1: I was explaining why. I was explaining why. No tortillas.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I wasn't prepared. He's explaining to the chef heads out
- 9:53Speaker 1: there that chef is accountable. He is a talented cook.
- 10:00Speaker 1: and they're probably asking themselves, chef, what the fuck? You
- 10:03Speaker 1: just decided to fuck over the boys? And he is saying, no, no, no,
- 10:07Speaker 1: it's not like that. There are some other things at play. Well,
- 10:10Speaker 1: I'm not saying that that's the reason why I should
- 10:12Speaker 1: have got it done anyway. I should have thought it
- 10:14Speaker 1: through better. Of course.
- 10:15Speaker 2: He committed to Sunday morning breakfast burritos when the time
- 10:18Speaker 2: wasn't at all set.
- 10:20Speaker 1: And he, he didn't, he dropped the ball. Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:26Speaker 1: All right. If this show turns into a, a court show,
- 10:31Speaker 1: like a judge type show in all of our cases
- 10:35Speaker 1: are just over breakfast burritos. I would love it. I
- 10:39Speaker 1: had like nothing wrong there. I got some, some follow-ups.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Let's hit them. Uh, This comes from Family Rebaio. The
- 10:49Speaker 1: Family Rebaio says, what's up boys? Christian Rebaio over here
- 10:55Speaker 1: and let me tell you great stuff. First time listening
- 10:59Speaker 1: slash watching the podcast and I'm subscribing on YouTube. Just
- 11:03Speaker 1: finished the episode and let me tell you again, Willie C,
- 11:06Speaker 1: great guy. The passion for doing that seating chart is amazing.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I think this is Donald Trump writing this email. Maybe
- 11:15Speaker 1: he's an amazing guy. And let me tell you, maybe
- 11:20Speaker 1: he's got to be an event planner or something. Sherm's
- 11:23Speaker 1: voice has got me dying. Maybe I wrote this. Sit
- 11:27Speaker 1: all day watching your soaps. Husband's got a pod and
- 11:30Speaker 1: you don't care. Hilarious. Chef, words cannot describe how disappointed
- 11:35Speaker 1: I am with the guy. I feel disrespected. This is
- 11:47Speaker 1: Christian Rubio. Christian then continues and says, I know he's
- 11:53Speaker 1: going to come back and kill it. I hope. Fourth guy.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I don't know yet. I haven't heard too much. But
- 12:00Speaker 1: so far, so far better than Jeff. I have an
- 12:05Speaker 1: 18 month old baby girl. And it's just nice hearing
- 12:09Speaker 1: dad's talking about dad. Sorry, Dad Life and Hudson Life.
- 12:15Speaker 1: That guy, Carlo, top tier. Can't wait to listen to
- 12:18Speaker 1: the next episode sent from my iPhone. That was an all-timer.
- 12:25Speaker 1: And fourth guy, I don't know. I don't know better
- 12:32Speaker 1: than Chef. Can already tell. That was crazy. Chef, what
- 12:37Speaker 1: a letdown. Terrible guy. He's going to come back. He's
- 12:42Speaker 1: going to come back. Lights too bright. Christian, you write
- 12:48Speaker 1: like our current active president, Donald Trump. It's from Nate
- 12:51Speaker 1: on Spotify. He is close to tugging away about killed me.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Hit the bone. Great. So boys, cheers. I didn't slip
- 13:02Speaker 1: that in there. It was a good laugh for myself internally.
- 13:07Speaker 1: That was one of the updates that I got from
- 13:09Speaker 1: Deke was the tugging away.
- 13:11Speaker 6: Yeah, I think I texted Sherm and I said, so
- 13:13Speaker 6: on today's episode, it went really well. And Will talked
- 13:16Speaker 6: to Chase about his son starting to tug away. And
- 13:19Speaker 6: so that was the recap Sherm got.
- 13:22Speaker 1: And Will started talking to Chase about, and I quote, yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 1: your son's around that age. That's just like some guys
- 13:33Speaker 1: on the golf course meeting each other. Are you kids 12?
- 13:37Speaker 1: He's probably talking away. How are you dealing with that?
- 13:44Speaker 1: How are you approaching that conversation? I got one here
- 13:51Speaker 1: from Ryan Talis 6909 on YouTube. A YouTube comment.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Why do people take nannies with them on vacation?
- 14:01Speaker 1: Oh, no. So this is a road rage. This is
- 14:04Speaker 1: a drive-by. This is a drive-by comment.
- 14:07Speaker 3: Okay.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Call me a hater. I don't give a.
- 14:10Speaker 3: Oh.
- 14:10Speaker 1: I don't understand why having a... I don't understand having
- 14:13Speaker 1: a nanny, period. Why have kids to have others raise them? Wait,
- 14:19Speaker 1: name again? Name again. Name again.
- 14:21Speaker 7: Ryan.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Tally's. Ryan. T-double-A-L-E-S. That's on me. That's Tamales. Ryan Tamales.
- 14:30Speaker 1: That was a typo on me. 6909. I don't even
- 14:34Speaker 1: know how to approach that. I get where he's coming from.
- 14:37Speaker 2: When I was a wee young lad and growing up
- 14:39Speaker 2: and getting married and we were talking about having kids
- 14:41Speaker 2: and having the job, the gender roles, everything else. Part
- 14:45Speaker 2: of me, I had the same kind of stance and
- 14:50Speaker 2: reaction to people having Nanny's like, why do you need
- 14:53Speaker 2: all that? Why do you need nannies? Like you guys,
- 14:55Speaker 2: you guys both, do you guys not want a parent?
- 15:01Speaker 2: I don't know. There's an anger. There's an anger of like, oh,
- 15:04Speaker 2: he just, he doesn't understand. Like there's a, there's a,
- 15:08Speaker 2: I'm a business owner. My wife's a business owner. Very
- 15:12Speaker 2: much ambitious career oriented people that are also very intentional
- 15:17Speaker 2: and very aware of We can't let our work take
- 15:21Speaker 2: us away from things we want to do at the house.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:23Speaker 2: And you can substitute the word childcare with nanny. It's
- 15:26Speaker 2: just like having childcare in general. For that to happen,
- 15:31Speaker 2: if you're wanting to strictly do all the raising yourselves,
- 15:35Speaker 2: somebody would have to go out and be the breadwinner.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Somebody would have to stay home 24-7 to raise the kids.
- 15:40Speaker 2: The amount of things that go into raising the kids
- 15:42Speaker 2: is a lot.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I'm not saying it's like, oh, it's too hard. You
- 15:45Speaker 1: can't do it, blah, blah, blah. No, no, no.
- 15:47Speaker 2: My wife just, she loves to work as well. She
- 15:50Speaker 2: loves an identity, having an identity. This is her personal perspective.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Loves having an identity outside of just motherhood.
- 15:57Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Doesn't want to lose herself.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Like when, like one of her fears going into motherhood
- 16:00Speaker 2: was like losing all of that to where it's like, Hey,
- 16:03Speaker 2: how's motherhood? Hey, being a mom, like everything you're known
- 16:05Speaker 2: for is just being a mom. Not that there's anything
- 16:07Speaker 2: wrong with that where I'm not saying that whatsoever.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Yeah. but she also wanted to continue.
- 16:12Speaker 2: To have a life that she had built and wanted
- 16:14Speaker 2: to have, has ambitions herself to where it's like, for
- 16:17Speaker 2: me as her partner, I want to, we want to
- 16:20Speaker 2: help and support each other any way we can while
- 16:23Speaker 2: also still being very intentional with the kiddos. So it's
- 16:26Speaker 2: one of those things where I see the comment and
- 16:28Speaker 2: I'm like, Oh, this is kind of like an insecurity
- 16:30Speaker 2: or fear of like having somebody or being somebody who
- 16:33Speaker 2: has a nanny or has childcare. But also it's like, man,
- 16:36Speaker 2: there's so much, there's so much help with childcare because
- 16:39Speaker 2: you're like drained. Like there's been a time. on our
- 16:42Speaker 2: vacations where we have taken childcare with us because it
- 16:45Speaker 2: gives us the freedom. Like if you're a parent and
- 16:48Speaker 2: you have kiddos and you operate with childcare when you're
- 16:51Speaker 2: traveling or anything else, like your kids are still like, no,
- 16:54Speaker 2: I don't want them. I want to be with you
- 16:56Speaker 2: to where you're juggling a lot of different things. And again,
- 16:59Speaker 2: I'm not saying that as like a victim poor me mentality,
- 17:02Speaker 2: but if we want to go on vacation, we want
- 17:03Speaker 2: to also have date nights ourselves. We also would like
- 17:06Speaker 2: to enjoy some of the freedoms that we've been able
- 17:08Speaker 2: to earn over the course of our lives.
- 17:09Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 17:10Speaker 1: And juggling all the worlds.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Like that is, it's helpful for us. And those are
- 17:13Speaker 2: things that we like to do and choose to do.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Having a nanny at home, it's like, dude, my wife works.
- 17:18Speaker 3: I work.
- 17:19Speaker 1: We do all the things. Scotty's not old enough to
- 17:20Speaker 1: be in school right now.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Rue goes to school, but Scotty's not old enough. So
- 17:24Speaker 2: you need childcare at the house so we can go
- 17:27Speaker 2: and work and do our thing. It's like, I'm wanting
- 17:31Speaker 2: to jump into, here's all the things we do in
- 17:33Speaker 2: the morning. Here's all the things we do in the evening.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Here's all the things we do on the weekend as
- 17:37Speaker 2: a family. Cause I'm trying to That would just be
- 17:39Speaker 2: me trying to defend my position on how much of
- 17:43Speaker 2: a mom and dad that me and my wife are.
- 17:44Speaker 2: But it's like, you know, I understand where the comment
- 17:47Speaker 2: comes from. I get the thought, but he's not in it.
- 17:52Speaker 1: I got two ways to respond to this comment. I'll
- 17:56Speaker 1: go with the first one, the level-headed one. I understand...
- 18:00Speaker 1: your mindset because truly that is exactly where Jill and
- 18:05Speaker 1: I are. And we are essentially paying for a shared
- 18:09Speaker 1: nanny in a shared nanny space with daycare. I mean,
- 18:13Speaker 1: that is truly what that is. Jill works full time.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I work full time. And you grind your dick off
- 18:20Speaker 1: here at the bus with the boys. Yeah. So it's,
- 18:24Speaker 1: we are working full time. we cannot watch our kid
- 18:28Speaker 1: all the time. And we are also doing that to one,
- 18:32Speaker 1: make a living, but also to provide our daughter Scarlett
- 18:36Speaker 1: with a beautiful, wonderful life of us being able to
- 18:40Speaker 1: afford signing her up for fun stuff like the gymnastics class. And,
- 18:44Speaker 1: you know, so there is the, give and the take
- 18:48Speaker 1: of sacrificing time, but also being able to maximize opportunity
- 18:52Speaker 1: for my daughter through that. You and Chase talked about
- 18:55Speaker 1: that a lot with y'all's, you know, the kind of
- 18:58Speaker 1: the selfishness, selflessness, of careers.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Like balancing the ambition and like wanting to be an
- 19:04Speaker 2: intentional dad and being around.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:06Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 19:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:06Speaker 1: And it's, uh, yeah, dude, it's a no brainer. Like
- 19:10Speaker 1: it is a no brainer that we have to do
- 19:12Speaker 1: daycare and that we're deciding to do daycare. And if
- 19:16Speaker 1: we have the money for Scarlett to be able to
- 19:20Speaker 1: be hanging out at our house or getting to like,
- 19:23Speaker 1: choose the calendar of her day and what it's going
- 19:26Speaker 1: to look like with the childcare provider that we get
- 19:30Speaker 1: to single-handedly choose every single day, i.e. a nanny, hell yeah,
- 19:35Speaker 1: we're going to take that. I would. And I'm not
- 19:38Speaker 1: saying that to make you feel better. That's a no-brainer.
- 19:43Speaker 2: I know, but when you see that, you know the framework,
- 19:46Speaker 2: like the mental that is thinking that it's like, to me,
- 19:49Speaker 2: it's like somebody who's not, they are raising kids. Maybe
- 19:52Speaker 2: his wife is staying home all the time and he
- 19:54Speaker 2: just doesn't believe in, and he believes in like, Oh,
- 19:56Speaker 2: I'm the man I'll go do all the work. You
- 19:58Speaker 2: have to stay at home. This is the life that
- 20:00Speaker 2: we're basically choosing together, which.
- 20:02Speaker 1: That is fine. That is fine. That is fine.
- 20:05Speaker 2: There are a lot of elements to where there's like a,
- 20:07Speaker 2: I know I'm afforded some of those some of those things,
- 20:11Speaker 2: but they are like, it's like to your point, maximizing
- 20:15Speaker 2: the opportunity, maximizing the time at home. Like there is
- 20:17Speaker 2: such a intentionality of trying to curate it because you
- 20:21Speaker 2: see how much you can, you can run thin when
- 20:24Speaker 2: both people in the household, both parents in the household
- 20:27Speaker 2: are working. It's a hard balance. it's a tough balance
- 20:32Speaker 2: when you're trying to like figure out what are the
- 20:34Speaker 2: solves here? Like if there's so many, like when I'm
- 20:37Speaker 2: off in my world doing all like all the ambition
- 20:40Speaker 2: things and all the things here, bust with the boys.
- 20:42Speaker 2: And I see that it's taken a toll a little
- 20:45Speaker 2: bit on my wife. Cause she'll handle all the thinking
- 20:47Speaker 2: that goes around into ruin Scotty, that mental load that
- 20:50Speaker 2: they have to think about that. I'm not privy to
- 20:52Speaker 2: until we're having like an a gap conversation of all
- 20:56Speaker 2: the things that go into it. And it's like, Oh damn, yeah,
- 20:59Speaker 2: we need to, how about we find this solve?
- 21:01Speaker 1: Here's an option. Here's an option. Here's an option.
- 21:03Speaker 2: What would help us to where we're both feel like
- 21:06Speaker 2: we are getting to do the things that we're wanting
- 21:08Speaker 2: to do while also getting to do the things that
- 21:09Speaker 2: we want to do here at the house.
- 21:12Speaker 1: But you also, there's the side of it too, dude,
- 21:15Speaker 1: that isn't being explored is that you guys are getting
- 21:20Speaker 1: to handpick your nanny as well. Y'all are getting to
- 21:24Speaker 1: choose people that you get to integrate into your life
- 21:27Speaker 1: and build a relationship with. They're also building relationships with
- 21:30Speaker 1: your daughters that are helping to build them up to
- 21:34Speaker 1: be beautiful, wonderful, incredible young women. It is a win, win, win,
- 21:39Speaker 1: win across the board. It is not showing laziness. It's
- 21:43Speaker 1: showing that you are willing to go the extra mile,
- 21:49Speaker 1: pay the extra cent, whatever you want to call it,
- 21:52Speaker 1: to win. afford some of the best childcare that you
- 21:55Speaker 1: can for your kids. It's a win, in my opinion.
- 21:59Speaker 1: And I know that that sounds like, oh, Sherman, you know,
- 22:02Speaker 1: hop off Will's dick, blah, blah, blah. But, like, that comment, like,
- 22:07Speaker 1: I might as well have, like, read the next comment
- 22:09Speaker 1: and be like, I really hate fucking beautiful lake houses
- 22:12Speaker 1: with big docks that have a ski nautique parked at them.
- 22:16Speaker 1: What are these dickheads doing with these lake houses? Can't
- 22:19Speaker 1: you just have one house? It's like... Bro, that's a
- 22:24Speaker 1: situation that they're in that they can afford, and it's
- 22:27Speaker 1: a way that they are able to have childcare. They
- 22:30Speaker 1: don't have both sets of grandparents here in Nashville. Maybe
- 22:34Speaker 1: the grandparents aren't able to watch the kids all the time.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Grandparents watching the kids all the time, that's essentially a
- 22:38Speaker 1: nanny that's just also a family member and is free.
- 22:41Speaker 1: So it's all, it's all childcare. It's childcare. So it,
- 22:44Speaker 1: I mean, it's all, it's all the same thing. And like, Hey, I,
- 22:49Speaker 1: I get it. Like that it could cause like some
- 22:52Speaker 1: anger and stuff, uh, and some frustration, but it's also like,
- 22:57Speaker 1: it just feels as funny as like being pissed off
- 22:59Speaker 1: about other luxury things. Yeah.
- 23:04Speaker 6: Another variable will that you've talked about on this show
- 23:07Speaker 6: is the first experience.
- 23:09Speaker 1: I believe we talked about on the show, maybe not,
- 23:10Speaker 1: whatever it is.
- 23:11Speaker 6: The first experience you and Charo had with a daycare
- 23:14Speaker 6: and the reason that you guys decided to go. And
- 23:16Speaker 6: so I think that's an important factor. And the other
- 23:18Speaker 6: one I think about a lot here is you have very, uh, again,
- 23:23Speaker 6: Scotty and I have only ever had one conversation where
- 23:25Speaker 6: she talked about being the weapon, but Rue is a
- 23:27Speaker 6: very presentable human being and like a lovely daughter. And
- 23:31Speaker 6: I think the fact that she gets to have an
- 23:34Speaker 6: authority figure that is a woman that she spends a
- 23:37Speaker 6: lot of time with adds to her probably respect and
- 23:40Speaker 6: her level of like just seeing the world differently than
- 23:42Speaker 6: if it was just you guys or family. But I
- 23:44Speaker 6: do think those components are big things into why like
- 23:47Speaker 6: the situation is perfect for you and why it's just a,
- 23:51Speaker 6: it's a comment I added to the show for this discussion,
- 23:53Speaker 6: but why it's one of them.
- 23:54Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 23:54Speaker 2: It's like, yeah, I'm sure, sure. You can break down
- 23:58Speaker 2: a lot of like points with it, but just fleetingly
- 24:02Speaker 2: reading the comment and, trying to handle it as as
- 24:05Speaker 2: well as i possibly can while not trying to sound
- 24:07Speaker 2: like oh poor me like this we got to figure
- 24:10Speaker 2: it out we need it like all these things here's
- 24:12Speaker 2: why guys here's why but then the flip side is
- 24:15Speaker 2: do you go after that mentality and then it's like
- 24:17Speaker 2: oh would you think you're just better than us it's
- 24:20Speaker 2: like one of those pockets because you're right when you
- 24:22Speaker 2: look back at when we first tried daycare and how
- 24:24Speaker 2: that ended up um did i talk about that.
- 24:28Speaker 1: On the show not Very bad incident took place and happened. Actually,
- 24:35Speaker 1: a couple.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Rue had a seizure one time that got us to
- 24:41Speaker 2: the hospital, which was a very scary moment. Then, you know,
- 24:44Speaker 2: months later, uneven, a very like unfortunate situation happened that
- 24:50Speaker 2: had us kind of like, what do we do here?
- 24:53Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Legal situation. Yeah. Multiple years of jail time situation.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:58Speaker 1: So it's like, that was very scary and jarring for y'all.
- 25:02Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 25:03Speaker 2: And then you, then you're out doing the interview process,
- 25:05Speaker 2: trying to find the right fit because there is a
- 25:07Speaker 2: level of like, you want certain standards and. And things
- 25:11Speaker 2: being like carrying out through the way that we do
- 25:13Speaker 2: at home and you're trying to find the right fit there.
- 25:14Speaker 2: And again, that shit, it's like I'm caught in the
- 25:17Speaker 2: pocket of like the, oh, poor me, like this is hard. Like, yeah,
- 25:21Speaker 2: I get that there's privileges and stuff with the spot
- 25:26Speaker 2: that I'm in.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Well, and the only thing you can control is you.
- 25:32Speaker 1: And I know that you're not overly worried about comments.
- 25:34Speaker 1: I'm just sitting here. You don't want to just say like...
- 25:38Speaker 1: Will never comes in here throughout the week and, oh,
- 25:44Speaker 1: they're saying this about me on the internet again. I
- 25:46Speaker 1: know that that's not something that you're actively... stewing over
- 25:51Speaker 1: but you can you know who you are you can
- 25:54Speaker 1: only control you and uh there are people that have
- 25:58Speaker 1: nannies because they don't want to deal with their kid
- 26:01Speaker 1: that is a universal truth and then there's people that
- 26:04Speaker 1: have nannies because both people are working no grandparents are
- 26:08Speaker 1: in town they love their kids dearly they're doing it
- 26:10Speaker 1: to maximize child care stuff that's a universal truth as
- 26:14Speaker 1: well Both can be true. Can we.
- 26:16Speaker 3: What?
- 26:17Speaker 1: Hey, Ryan. Well, I think that.
- 26:18Speaker 2: I guess I don't know my kids now because somebody
- 26:20Speaker 2: else is raising them. Where are their names?
- 26:22Speaker 1: I'm so sorry. What is it? Ryan Tamale. No, his kids' names.
- 26:27Speaker 1: I couldn't remember. Tiffany and... Sarah. God, I can't remember
- 26:31Speaker 1: because I'm never around.
- 26:32Speaker 6: It's important to remember that with your life, context matters.
- 26:37Speaker 6: Just like... Chef and the burritos. He wasn't giving you
- 26:40Speaker 6: a bunch of excuses. It was context. And see how
- 26:43Speaker 6: we just spent 20 minutes talking about you and your context?
- 26:46Speaker 1: Chefs counts too. Well, thank you, Derek. You're welcome. Thank you, Derek.
- 26:52Speaker 1: That was very kind. See, Will? That was very kind.
- 26:56Speaker 1: I also appreciate you chiming in on those moments as well.
- 26:58Speaker 5: Yes.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Hey, but well done with the callback to the daycare stuff.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Because as soon as you said that, I was like, yeah,
- 27:04Speaker 1: that shit did kind of. No brainer. Oh my God.
- 27:10Speaker 2: Because one of my first comments too, like when Charles
- 27:12Speaker 2: and I were talking about it, I'm like, we really
- 27:14Speaker 2: want to be the people that have like a nanny.
- 27:16Speaker 2: There's just that you can have some perception, especially like
- 27:19Speaker 2: when you didn't have it growing up. And you kind
- 27:22Speaker 2: of see, you know, you see how certain people operate
- 27:25Speaker 2: or your perception of how they operate and you assume
- 27:27Speaker 2: this is how they operate.
- 27:28Speaker 1: And you just are like, ah, that seems... We don't
- 27:31Speaker 1: want to be that, do we? Yeah, I'm not that
- 27:33Speaker 1: kind of guy or whatever. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That makes sense. Yeah.
- 27:36Speaker 1: You're not, but you want to know what? You're not
- 27:38Speaker 1: that kind of guy. So. Fucking Ryan. Dude, get Ryan
- 27:43Speaker 1: Tamale's ass up your ass. Get the Tamale. Oh, I hate,
- 27:46Speaker 1: I hate daddies. I fucking hate daddies. Maybe I'm a hater,
- 27:51Speaker 1: but I don't give a fuck. Read it like a whiny, like,
- 27:55Speaker 1: crying baby. Why do people take nannies with them on vacation?
- 27:59Speaker 1: Why do people get childcare? I just don't get it.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I don't care if I'm a hater. I'll never understand
- 28:05Speaker 1: having a nanny, period, or any childcare. My kids ain't
- 28:08Speaker 1: going to school. Only me and my wife are going
- 28:10Speaker 1: to raise them. Why have kids to have other people
- 28:13Speaker 1: raise them? And who did that come from?
- 28:16Speaker 7: Oh.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Ryan Tamale on YouTube. Thank you, Ryan. Well said. That
- 28:22Speaker 1: kind of sounded like him. This one comes from Justin
- 28:25Speaker 1: Grubb on Spotify. Justin, big shoes to fill. Let's see
- 28:29Speaker 1: how it goes. What a great surprise it was to
- 28:32Speaker 1: open up this week's sewed and see Chase Daniel's beautiful
- 28:36Speaker 1: face on the cover photo. I'm a lifelong Mizzou fan
- 28:40Speaker 1: who has not one, but two number 10 Missouri jerseys,
- 28:46Speaker 1: all because of the legend that is Chase Daniel. That
- 28:50Speaker 1: era of Mizzou football, Chase, J-Mac, Chase Kaufman, T-Rucker, and
- 28:56Speaker 1: so many more created the football fan that I am today.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Love the Sode and Chase's takes on some difficult-to-navigate parenting topics.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Keep up the great work, gents. Hashtag PTCicka. That comes
- 29:08Speaker 1: from Justin Grubb. Shout out Justin Grubb. You think he
- 29:13Speaker 1: lets other people raise his kids? definitely i can i
- 29:16Speaker 1: could hear it in his voice you're gonna call your
- 29:18Speaker 1: mom to come to the house and watch little bobby
- 29:22Speaker 1: right now yeah i gotta go to the mizzou game
- 29:25Speaker 1: i gotta go to the mizzou game go watch the
- 29:27Speaker 1: tigers m-i-z-z-o-u no i'm going to the game i need
- 29:31Speaker 1: you to stay home wait what, are you taking a
- 29:33Speaker 1: day off? Wait, what's going on? Who's going to watch
- 29:36Speaker 1: the kid if I'm at the Mizzou game? Let's get
- 29:38Speaker 1: the man in here. I don't care if you're drained.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Life's hard. You think I want to go get hammered
- 29:44Speaker 1: at the Mizzou game? My friends are going to be
- 29:49Speaker 1: pressing me all day. Get more wigs. Get more fries.
- 29:52Speaker 1: Here's another hot dog. Here's another cold one. Twist my arm. Insane.
- 29:59Speaker 1: End scene. End scene. We got somebody at the door. Oh,
- 30:03Speaker 1: we got a delivery person? We got a delivery? Is
- 30:05Speaker 1: this our... Oh, it's his weekly breakfast.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Oh, first watch. He loves first watch. He's big on
- 30:15Speaker 2: the bacon. They have good bacon. First watch has good bacon.
- 30:18Speaker 1: It does. We have some shout outs right here. One
- 30:20Speaker 1: from Brian Michelson.
- 30:22Speaker 2: What's up, boys? Just wanted to brag a little bit
- 30:24Speaker 2: about my dad and mom. When this weekend? We took
- 30:28Speaker 2: our 10-week-old on her first trip across the country from
- 30:31Speaker 2: Vegas to upstate New York. Took her to go see
- 30:33Speaker 2: my best friend and surprise him for his 40th birthday.
- 30:36Speaker 2: I got to say, I was terrified of mid-flight blowouts
- 30:39Speaker 2: and meltdowns from the pressure change. To our surprise, zero blowouts,
- 30:44Speaker 2: on the plane at least, and zero meltdowns. Baby was
- 30:47Speaker 2: a dog all weekend and handled everything like a champ.
- 30:51Speaker 2: Wife was a dog, and she pre-planned everything from the
- 30:54Speaker 2: trip to the amount of formula, to the exact number
- 30:57Speaker 2: of diapers. Shout out to Jess, my best friend's wife. Dog,
- 31:02Speaker 2: who threw a dope-ass surprise party as well. Overall, the
- 31:05Speaker 2: weekend couldn't have gone any smoother. Made your dad win
- 31:08Speaker 2: for the boys. Also, happy 40th to my dog, Benny.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Uncle Benny. I love to call him Uncle Benny. Love you, man.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Boys, keep killing the game. Mustachio out. My wife's nickname
- 31:18Speaker 2: for me when she talks about my daughter.
- 31:20Speaker 1: Can we please just get an edit to that readout?
- 31:23Speaker 1: And instead of Will saying dog, it's that high school
- 31:26Speaker 1: kid being like, such a running back, dog. Dog. God,
- 31:34Speaker 1: that was incredible. He's gassing everybody up. He's gassing everybody.
- 31:37Speaker 1: My best friend, dog. Baby was a dog. Wife, dog.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Uncle Benny, dog. And also, dude, can we just get
- 31:48Speaker 1: another quote graphic that says wives are dogs? Wives are dogs.
- 31:54Speaker 1: Context will matter. That could maybe be the subheading. D-A-W-G-S.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Wives are dogs. That's how he's spelling it on there too.
- 32:03Speaker 2: If any female sees that the wrong way, she doesn't
- 32:06Speaker 2: have context.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Honey, why are you getting pissed all over this quote graphic?
- 32:12Speaker 1: They spelled it D-A-W-G. Yeah, you saw what just happened
- 32:15Speaker 1: with Good Good Golf. You think this is a good
- 32:17Speaker 1: look on the show? Calling women dogs? You think Willie
- 32:20Speaker 1: C and all fat staff would be pulling this shit
- 32:24Speaker 1: a week after Good Good? You think they're that dumb?
- 32:27Speaker 1: Come on, babe. Don't touch my driver. Don't touch it.
- 32:33Speaker 1: We're kidding on the show. We're kidding. But that's why
- 32:38Speaker 1: she has her own driver. This, uh, this comes from, uh, okay.
- 32:43Speaker 1: This is actually a really fun one. I believe this
- 32:45Speaker 1: guy's from Australia. Uh, his name is, or her name
- 32:51Speaker 1: is Kalaya. Hey boys. My husband, Nathan has been a
- 32:56Speaker 1: dedicated listener since day one. He was actually the first
- 32:59Speaker 1: call in, I believe. Okay. So it is our Aussie friend, Nathan.
- 33:03Speaker 1: And we have our little Aussie flag here on the
- 33:05Speaker 1: set because of Nathan. Shout out. Um, the first call in,
- 33:10Speaker 1: I believe, or so he told me, I don't think
- 33:12Speaker 1: I've ever seen him so excited. Then when you guys
- 33:15Speaker 1: played his message, he still wears some merch. You send
- 33:18Speaker 1: them daily. I thought, uh, because it's father's day here
- 33:21Speaker 1: in Australia soon, September six. That's kind of some news
- 33:26Speaker 1: that we could use by the way. Can we get
- 33:29Speaker 1: a second father's day going and just say it's Australian
- 33:31Speaker 1: father's day? It sounds like we need to. It just
- 33:34Speaker 1: means that the wifey has to go down under. God,
- 33:40Speaker 1: we're getting too much on the show right now. But
- 33:43Speaker 1: we are 30 minutes in, so maybe the algorithm. Yeah,
- 33:46Speaker 1: maybe the algorithm will work in our favor. September 6th
- 33:51Speaker 1: is Australia Father's Day. Then I'd reach out and try
- 33:55Speaker 1: my luck at getting him a shout out for truly
- 33:57Speaker 1: being the most incredible girl dad to our two beautiful daughters, Ivory, four,
- 34:02Speaker 1: and Prairie, a year and a half. He is such
- 34:06Speaker 1: a proud girl dad and his girls love him so much.
- 34:08Speaker 1: I'm so lucky to have him as my husband and
- 34:11Speaker 1: the father of our girls. But he's hard to buy for.
- 34:15Speaker 1: So I thought a shout out on his favorite pod
- 34:17Speaker 1: could be the best Father's Day gift we could give him.
- 34:21Speaker 1: We'd love to thank him for everything he does for
- 34:24Speaker 1: us and all the dance concerts he attends, all the
- 34:26Speaker 1: Barbies he buys, all the princess dresses he puts on
- 34:30Speaker 1: the girls. For someone who couldn't have wanted boys more,
- 34:33Speaker 1: he's the best girl dad out there. Shout out, man.
- 34:37Speaker 1: And just, that's so sick, dude. I just, I love
- 34:41Speaker 1: everything about that shout out. What a shout out.
- 34:44Speaker 8: I know.
- 34:44Speaker 2: People send in photos, too, because I have some beautiful
- 34:47Speaker 2: photos here from Chase Schoen. This email is to help
- 34:51Speaker 2: the gentleman the other week as well as anyone else
- 34:53Speaker 2: curious about having a child before marriage.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Here we go. A call back to, what, two episodes ago? Yeah.
- 35:00Speaker 2: On August 22nd, me and my wife finally tied the
- 35:03Speaker 2: knot after being together for six years. The ring bearer, however,
- 35:06Speaker 2: was of our own creation. In early 2024, me and
- 35:10Speaker 2: my girlfriend found out we were pregnant. Early on, there
- 35:13Speaker 2: were thoughts about how maybe family would view us with
- 35:16Speaker 2: us not yet being married. We also wanted to do
- 35:19Speaker 2: the wedding on our terms and not rush that part
- 35:21Speaker 2: to have it done before our kid got here. Having
- 35:24Speaker 2: a baby and planning a wedding are both stressful, and
- 35:27Speaker 2: we wanted to avoid overlapping the two as much as possible.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Guess we didn't think raising a toddler and planning a
- 35:34Speaker 2: wedding would be hard. Boy, we were wrong. Having a
- 35:38Speaker 2: kid first can also show how compatible you and your
- 35:41Speaker 2: wife can be because there will be hard days and
- 35:43Speaker 2: hard nights where you think you are both at your
- 35:46Speaker 2: wits ends and somehow you get through it and realize
- 35:50Speaker 2: how much you both needed each other. Even when one
- 35:52Speaker 2: is low, the other is always there to pick up
- 35:55Speaker 2: the slack and you get to go into your wedding
- 35:57Speaker 2: day knowing that you've already been through some of the
- 35:59Speaker 2: worst of the worst and you two were able to
- 36:02Speaker 2: reach the other side. And do not worry what your
- 36:05Speaker 2: family will think. I love how I've read that part
- 36:08Speaker 2: kind of like I'm reading a children's book. And do
- 36:11Speaker 2: not worry for what your family will think. There's going
- 36:14Speaker 2: to be a rhyme coming out of that. We were
- 36:17Speaker 2: lucky to have great families to support us along the way,
- 36:19Speaker 2: but even if yours aren't I think it will be
- 36:23Speaker 2: truly impossible for them to keep the hatred once that
- 36:26Speaker 2: sweet little baby is here on the world. With all
- 36:28Speaker 2: that being said, here we are two years later and
- 36:30Speaker 2: tying the knot with our son, getting to be a
- 36:32Speaker 2: part of our very special day, and there's no other
- 36:35Speaker 2: way I would want to have it. Be young, find love,
- 36:37Speaker 2: have babies, love your wife. Little man even got to
- 36:40Speaker 2: join during our first dance.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Had a very long day, as you can tell. Love
- 36:45Speaker 1: that write-in. Yeah, I love that write-in. It's almost fumbling
- 36:49Speaker 1: a little bit. The words, the font is tiny. You
- 36:54Speaker 1: did a great job. Tiny font. Tiny font. They're trying
- 36:58Speaker 1: to get Willie C any way they can. They are.
- 37:01Speaker 1: You passed. Thoughts on that. Will, when I had around,
- 37:08Speaker 1: when I had started here, you were talking about the
- 37:10Speaker 1: hero's journey. the writing literary style of the hero's journey.
- 37:16Speaker 1: And you were talking about the threshold, which is like
- 37:19Speaker 1: the test for the hero that like sets them on
- 37:22Speaker 1: their path of if they're worthy or not. Having a
- 37:26Speaker 1: kid might be the ultimate threshold test of if you're
- 37:29Speaker 1: compatible with somebody. I'm not saying that is the threshold
- 37:33Speaker 1: test to see if you're compatible with someone, but I
- 37:36Speaker 1: do agree with him that.
- 37:37Speaker 2: You kind of risk you to use that as the
- 37:39Speaker 2: compatibility test.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Oh, like very much saying like, don't use that as
- 37:44Speaker 1: the compatibility test. Here's a fun date idea. Yeah, first
- 37:48Speaker 1: date idea. Let's see if we're compatible. Let's go to
- 37:51Speaker 1: the bedroom. To his point, I was like, that probably
- 37:55Speaker 1: really would be a very quick make or break of,
- 38:00Speaker 1: am I compatible with this person?
- 38:03Speaker 2: Not only that, but it sounds like, too, some of
- 38:04Speaker 2: the stress they went through with the families of like, man,
- 38:07Speaker 2: do we get married?
- 38:09Speaker 1: ASAP. So maybe we can hide it a little bit.
- 38:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Then they figure it out on wedding day, but then,
- 38:14Speaker 1: you know, bygones be bygones. It's all behind us. Dude.
- 38:17Speaker 1: And life is life. Like for that, like exact topic
- 38:21Speaker 1: we talked about two weeks ago that there's like zero
- 38:24Speaker 1: judgment coming from this podcast. I felt like was everyone's
- 38:27Speaker 1: stance of like, we're, you know, like we're not the
- 38:30Speaker 1: end all be all. Accidents happen. Like that happens all
- 38:35Speaker 1: the time of people having kids before marriage. And, there
- 38:39Speaker 1: are situations where the parents step up and, um, whether
- 38:44Speaker 1: they get married or not, uh, but they step up
- 38:46Speaker 1: and they're great parents and there are some situations where
- 38:48Speaker 1: it doesn't work out. But, um, to the parents that
- 38:51Speaker 1: do step up in that situation, that is hard. Like,
- 38:55Speaker 1: I think there is, um, you're not skipping steps in
- 39:00Speaker 1: the sense of like, how it needs to be done,
- 39:02Speaker 1: but you are skipping some steps in the process of like, uh,
- 39:06Speaker 1: building that relationship with your partner. And, um, for the
- 39:11Speaker 1: people that are, uh, able to do it and are
- 39:14Speaker 1: able to be great parents and be kind of baptized
- 39:18Speaker 1: by fire, kudos to them. Cause that would not be easy.
- 39:22Speaker 1: You also find a compatibility test through wedding planning as well. Oh, dude.
- 39:28Speaker 2: If you choose to get help planning the wedding, Ryan
- 39:30Speaker 2: Tamale probably doesn't get help planning a wedding.
- 39:33Speaker 1: Ryan Tamale.
- 39:34Speaker 5: You know what pisses me off? It's these fucking weddings, man.
- 39:38Speaker 5: It's like they don't even care about actually being in love.
- 39:41Speaker 5: They just want the Instagram photo at the end. Look
- 39:44Speaker 5: how pretty I am. Look how big the wedding is.
- 39:47Speaker 5: Fucking pissing me off. That's literally, he DM'd me that.
- 39:52Speaker 5: He said that.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Ryan's about that life. You know he doesn't believe in
- 39:55Speaker 1: planes either. You can't fucking drive? No, fuck that. You
- 40:00Speaker 1: can't walk to your destination? Wait, you only got one flight?
- 40:03Speaker 1: Do you need help? Oh, you got two feet and
- 40:06Speaker 1: you're in an airplane? Yeah, you know, we weren't meant
- 40:09Speaker 1: to fly. You know that, right? God wouldn't put wings
- 40:12Speaker 1: on us if we were supposed to fly. We had
- 40:14Speaker 1: to get in a wedding planning. You're planning the wedding.
- 40:17Speaker 1: You don't want to play in the wedding while you
- 40:18Speaker 1: don't love me? And your mother always seems to have
- 40:20Speaker 1: an opinion. She might be good at helping. Maybe get
- 40:23Speaker 1: her in. Right to Molly. Yeah, I love him. He's
- 40:29Speaker 1: a good dude. Good dude. We actually have Ryan Tavalli's info.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Was that a YouTube comment? I think we have his address.
- 40:40Speaker 1: We should go back to Ryan Tavalli's YouTube info and
- 40:43Speaker 1: just spam some breakfast burrito comments underneath it.
- 40:46Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Need a little context. Yeah. Okay. Well, we've done a
- 40:53Speaker 1: lot of shout outs. We've done a bunch of follow ups. Will,
- 40:59Speaker 1: do you have any dad losses? Other than having a nanny.
- 41:06Speaker 1: That can't count.
- 41:09Speaker 2: Not a big one in the last week. Man, I
- 41:14Speaker 2: hope my wife's not listening right now. She's like, oh,
- 41:15Speaker 2: you're forgetting this one. I forgot to take out the
- 41:20Speaker 2: trash last week.
- 41:21Speaker 1: Okay. Maybe the week before, too. Oh, I have a
- 41:27Speaker 1: dad win for you. I have a dad win for you.
- 41:30Speaker 1: That's going to help? Yes. What happened the last two weeks? Yeah.
- 41:35Speaker 1: convenience centers convenience centers they have them here in tennessee
- 41:40Speaker 1: and you can go dump your trash at the convenience
- 41:43Speaker 1: center and will if you really want to get your
- 41:45Speaker 1: rocks off like a fucking sicko they have a cardboard
- 41:49Speaker 1: uh dumpster just for cardboard and you could throw as
- 41:54Speaker 1: much cardboard as you want in there And if you want,
- 41:58Speaker 1: you can pay the lady that works the place a
- 42:00Speaker 1: little extra and have her run up on you towards
- 42:02Speaker 1: the end and be like, hey, get out of here,
- 42:03Speaker 1: get out of here. If it kind of like gets
- 42:05Speaker 1: your juices going. Because it's legal dumping, but you know. Okay,
- 42:09Speaker 1: so convenience centers. Convenience centers are here in Tennessee. Good
- 42:12Speaker 1: dad hack. Williamson County, dad hack. If you have some
- 42:16Speaker 1: extra trash laying around.
- 42:18Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 42:19Speaker 1: I visited them. I appreciate that. Yeah, I got you.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Scotty took a lump, two marks on her head.
- 42:24Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 42:24Speaker 2: One, this one, this one. on her forehead right here,
- 42:28Speaker 2: like a little egg, bro. She fell off. She kind
- 42:31Speaker 2: of like fell off her chair or couch or whatever
- 42:34Speaker 2: and smoked her head. We tried telling her, Scotty, you're
- 42:36Speaker 2: going to fall. Scotty, you're going to fall. Scotty stopped
- 42:40Speaker 2: playing so close.
- 42:41Speaker 1: To the table. That probably got her more excited. Hey,
- 42:44Speaker 1: you got to sit down during movie night. You have
- 42:46Speaker 1: to sit down. You have to watch the movie.
- 42:47Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 42:48Speaker 1: It's pizza Friday.
- 42:50Speaker 8: Boom.
- 42:51Speaker 1: I'm talking lumped up, bro. You got hardwood, too. Hardwood, yeah.
- 42:59Speaker 1: She hit the corner. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was not good. Yikes.
- 43:03Speaker 1: We think she hit the corner. Oh, dude. Charles felt terrible.
- 43:06Speaker 1: I was like, should we take her? I was like,
- 43:08Speaker 1: Doctor ain't going to be able to help us. Hey, Scotty. Hey, Scotty. Hey,
- 43:12Speaker 1: she good. I took out my iPhone and turned on
- 43:14Speaker 1: the light and I was like, Scotty, follow the light.
- 43:16Speaker 2: Because I was looking up, I started to Google, like,
- 43:18Speaker 2: you know, what should we look for?
- 43:19Speaker 1: And it's like vomiting and passing out.
- 43:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Their pupils are dilated. So I'm like, all right, we
- 43:24Speaker 2: can test this one. I'm like, what day of the
- 43:28Speaker 2: week is it? Sweetheart, I'll just give her my concussion
- 43:31Speaker 2: test on the sideline.
- 43:32Speaker 1: Hey, Scotty, what's this? Who are we playing today? You
- 43:36Speaker 1: hold up the llama. The llama. She's good. She got llama.
- 43:41Speaker 1: She's good.
- 43:42Speaker 2: Look, she took a lump. She learned a natural consequence, hopefully. Oh,
- 43:46Speaker 2: poor thing, dude.
- 43:48Speaker 1: That stinks. Scarlett got bit at daycare. By another kid?
- 43:53Speaker 1: We just brushed over that. By another kid?
- 43:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Was she swinging on her? I don't know how much
- 43:59Speaker 1: I'm supposed to talk about that now that I bring
- 44:01Speaker 1: that up. Yeah, I didn't know as soon as maybe.
- 44:03Speaker 1: But she got bit on the thumb. It pissed me off.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Everything was above board. Like, we got reached out to
- 44:09Speaker 1: by the daycare and everything. Everything was fine. I'm like,
- 44:13Speaker 1: what are they doing biting my daughter? Yeah, like, who's
- 44:15Speaker 1: watching them? What was the kid's name? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:19Speaker 1: Who are the parents? Can I have their number? But
- 44:23Speaker 1: I was really feeling that way, dude. Show up at
- 44:24Speaker 1: the front door with Scarlett.
- 44:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:27Speaker 1: It was on her thumb. It's like right here. You
- 44:29Speaker 1: could see like the marks. That's like kind of her
- 44:31Speaker 1: first big boo boo. Oh, Deke's got something.
- 44:33Speaker 6: I was just going to ask how they let you know,
- 44:35Speaker 6: because I'm in a group chat with a bunch of
- 44:37Speaker 6: guys who are all having their first kids, second kids,
- 44:39Speaker 6: and they all send in like a permission slip written
- 44:43Speaker 6: that says like how the kids day was. And it's
- 44:45Speaker 6: like a frowny face. I got bit by Tristan or
- 44:47Speaker 6: something like that. How did they let you know? Because
- 44:50Speaker 6: I always think sending a letter home to say your
- 44:51Speaker 6: kid got bit is crazy. But I don't have a kid.
- 44:55Speaker 1: That is... As opposed to you're learning about it when
- 44:57Speaker 1: you go and pick her up?
- 44:58Speaker 6: I guess like picking up her a call. It always
- 45:01Speaker 6: feels like that. Maybe the dads are, but I just
- 45:03Speaker 6: get sent a picture of a report card that says,
- 45:05Speaker 6: I got bit today.
- 45:06Speaker 1: And that just feels... weird that's hilarious slash feels like
- 45:11Speaker 1: how it would have been handled when we were kids
- 45:14Speaker 1: we have an app we have a pro care app
- 45:17Speaker 1: with our uh daycare and it's like you know so
- 45:22Speaker 1: you can see real time updates yeah real time updates
- 45:24Speaker 1: notification that she got i literally got a push notification
- 45:27Speaker 1: it was like mr and mrs young we'd like to
- 45:29Speaker 1: communicate that it's like very you know how how bad
- 45:34Speaker 1: was the bite Not to where she needed stitches or
- 45:38Speaker 1: anything like that. I ask because these kids, it's like
- 45:41Speaker 1: a pit bull. They'll lock and they don't understand how
- 45:44Speaker 1: much it fucking hurts.
- 45:46Speaker 2: I'll mess around with Scotty and then one time she'll
- 45:47Speaker 2: get me. I'll be like, hey, god damn, bro. We're
- 45:51Speaker 2: playing right now.
- 45:52Speaker 1: You got to know that you're biting me a little
- 45:53Speaker 1: too fucking hard. They said that Scarlett, they wanted us
- 45:57Speaker 1: to know, which made me feel even worse though, that
- 46:00Speaker 1: Scarlett wasn't antagonizing. They said that she was exploring her
- 46:05Speaker 1: friend's face and was like being very gentle and just
- 46:09Speaker 1: kind of like touching her mouth and her nose. And
- 46:13Speaker 1: it was like all, you know, friendly. Yes. Exploratory, sweet stuff.
- 46:18Speaker 1: And then that kid was just like, give me that. Yeah.
- 46:21Speaker 1: And just.
- 46:23Speaker 2: That'd be Scotty, bro. Scotty swings. It's still not a
- 46:29Speaker 2: massive issue, but dude, she just swings on Rue.
- 46:32Speaker 1: At all times. But she's swinging above the belt, above
- 46:36Speaker 1: her weight class. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. I
- 46:39Speaker 1: would want Scottie around Scarlett for that exact reason. I
- 46:42Speaker 1: would know that Scottie's probably going after the bigger ones,
- 46:45Speaker 1: so if the bigger ones are coming after Scarlett, Scottie's
- 46:49Speaker 1: kind of the bulldog junkyard dog that's like, hey, leave
- 46:52Speaker 1: us alone. We're playing. Yeah. Scottie's got linebacker potential. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 46:56Speaker 1: He's got the mentality for the A-gap. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:00Speaker 1: Dad loss. I was trying to think of a dad
- 47:03Speaker 1: loss when you came in and were talking to me
- 47:07Speaker 1: this morning. And I couldn't think of a true dad loss.
- 47:14Speaker 1: The only one that I could think of was how
- 47:17Speaker 1: badly Scarlett is teething right now. It is... Dude, I
- 47:21Speaker 1: thought teething, this is for any first dad, like you
- 47:24Speaker 1: always like hear about like when the first teeth come in.
- 47:28Speaker 1: And I thought that's all that teething was, was like
- 47:31Speaker 1: once the first teeth break through, then it's like over
- 47:34Speaker 1: and done with. It's so much worse now. She has
- 47:38Speaker 1: like four to five teeth all coming in at once.
- 47:41Speaker 1: And she's just constantly like pushing on her jaws like
- 47:45Speaker 1: this and being like super sensitive and Uh, and whiny. Um,
- 47:54Speaker 1: and it sucks to watch. You're like, dang, you're like
- 47:57Speaker 1: going through a ton of pain. We hit her with
- 47:59Speaker 1: Motrin and stuff before she's going to bed. Uh, but
- 48:03Speaker 1: it's been affecting her sleep a little bit, but, um,
- 48:06Speaker 1: dealing with the teething, I didn't realize that it gets worse. Like,
- 48:10Speaker 1: it's not like it was just something that happened. Is
- 48:12Speaker 1: she waking up through the night? Oh yeah. Golly. Oh yeah.
- 48:16Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Charles apparently had to hit a couple on Scotty last night,
- 48:20Speaker 2: but that was knocked out.
- 48:21Speaker 1: I was like, oh.
- 48:22Speaker 2: Because when I came in this morning, came into the bedroom,
- 48:26Speaker 2: I saw Scotty in the bed. I was like, oh,
- 48:27Speaker 2: you coming to hang out, get some cuddles and kisses,
- 48:30Speaker 2: all that kind of stuff. I was like, when did
- 48:31Speaker 2: you have to go up and get her? She said,
- 48:32Speaker 2: I probably got her like 10 minutes ago because she
- 48:34Speaker 2: was just yelling. And she's like, that was the third time.
- 48:37Speaker 2: I was like, oh, you had to get her a
- 48:37Speaker 2: couple more times?
- 48:38Speaker 1: She's like, yeah. I was like, oh, shit. I was nowhere.
- 48:42Speaker 1: You and I were in sleep land, dapping each other up.
- 48:47Speaker 1: Because that is exactly what happened to Jill last night.
- 48:50Speaker 1: She got up at midnight. She got up at four.
- 48:53Speaker 1: She got up at 530. Scarlett did like beat for beat.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Scarlett did the exact same thing. Will Jill reach over
- 49:00Speaker 1: and give you a tab and be like, hey, you
- 49:01Speaker 1: got it? Not last night. She didn't last night. But yeah,
- 49:04Speaker 1: sometimes she does. It's like, she's kind of got that.
- 49:08Speaker 1: We're talking about wives or dogs. My wife is a dog. Uh,
- 49:13Speaker 1: and she likes to lead the charge with that stuff.
- 49:16Speaker 1: Like the first couple times And she keeps the main
- 49:18Speaker 1: monitor like by her bed The one that's like super
- 49:21Speaker 1: loud So she'll always be the first one to strike
- 49:25Speaker 1: And you'll be snoozing away Snoozing Snoozing Like a proud
- 49:31Speaker 1: girl dad Got one right here Uh oh A dad
- 49:36Speaker 1: fail Who's this from Ryan? trevor oh trevor gruel on
- 49:42Speaker 1: instagram dad lost boys trevor from idaho here hi trevor

- 50:01Speaker 1: rocked her tried to put her in the crib and back.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Up she was good My wife said, just let her
- 50:08Speaker 2: cry it out. So I walk out of the room
- 50:10Speaker 2: and she starts bouncing on her mattress like a trampoline.
- 50:14Speaker 1: No more.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Then close the door and hear a loud bang. Open
- 50:19Speaker 2: the door and there is Rory chilling on her belly
- 50:21Speaker 2: on the floor. Fucking good is what he writes. Ideal even.
- 50:27Speaker 1: No bumps or bruises besides her ego. Laugh out loud.
- 50:30Speaker 1: Absolutely love the show and always looking forward to the
- 50:32Speaker 1: next drop. Love you boys. When was that for Rue?
- 50:36Speaker 1: When did Rue start being able to climb out of
- 50:38Speaker 1: the crib? Knock on wood.
- 50:40Speaker 2: I mean, Rue's got her big bed now, so it's
- 50:42Speaker 2: all good. But Rue never got to the point where
- 50:46Speaker 2: she's climbing out of the crib.
- 50:47Speaker 1: Really?
- 50:48Speaker 2: Rue just kind of started over the past few months
- 50:51Speaker 2: figuring out she can open the door and come down
- 50:53Speaker 2: to mom and dad's room.
- 50:54Speaker 1: She doesn't do it a lot.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Our issue with Rue is when we moved her to
- 51:00Speaker 2: twin size, she would fall out of her bed. Because
- 51:04Speaker 2: we didn't have the rails. We didn't get the rails.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Got it.
- 51:07Speaker 2: So if you're a parent out there wondering, like, what
- 51:09Speaker 2: do things do because they roll around, there's some rails
- 51:11Speaker 2: that they get. Kind of like, you know, bumpers at
- 51:13Speaker 2: a bowling lane. And did you all get the rails eventually?
- 51:16Speaker 1: No, no, no, no. She's calloused. It's like, hey, you
- 51:19Speaker 1: got to figure it out. Yeah.
- 51:22Speaker 2: She's fallen down a couple nights when we're just, Char
- 51:23Speaker 2: and I are watching TV downstairs a couple times within
- 51:25Speaker 2: an hour. She'll fall and hit the ground. We never adapted.
- 51:30Speaker 2: We never looked at our strategy and thought like, let's
- 51:32Speaker 2: get these rails. We just, I don't know. We just
- 51:34Speaker 2: kept going up there and like helping her out.
- 51:37Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Cause she'd fall and then she'd like come up to where,
- 51:40Speaker 2: you know, she's kind of out of it or she'd
- 51:41Speaker 2: just be in a sitting or kneeling position and then
- 51:43Speaker 2: just kind of start crying.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Cause she kind of doesn't know where she is.
- 51:45Speaker 2: Sometimes she would fall out and then just go to
- 51:47Speaker 2: the couch and sleep in the couch on the couch.
- 51:49Speaker 1: I'd go and pick her up and move her to
- 51:51Speaker 1: the bed.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Scotty is Scotty scouting report.
- 51:57Speaker 1: She is one that'll have potential on like climbing out. Maybe. Yeah.
- 52:01Speaker 2: She's not like actively trying right now, but she's a,
- 52:04Speaker 2: you know, she's a physically resilient young cat.
- 52:08Speaker 1: When you go to wake her up in the morning,
- 52:11Speaker 1: is she usually up in like waiting for you guys? Like,
- 52:14Speaker 1: does she shoot up instantly or is she like kind
- 52:17Speaker 1: of a slow to wake? Uh, she's like usually awake,
- 52:20Speaker 1: got a big smile on her face. Yeah.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Always kind of like ready to rock, whether she's up
- 52:24Speaker 2: leaning on the crib or kind of like laying.
- 52:25Speaker 1: Down and just yelling mama, dada. Yeah. Mama, dada. Or
- 52:30Speaker 1: yelling whatever she's yelling. She could be playing.
- 52:32Speaker 4: Uh-huh.
- 52:33Speaker 1: But she'll let you know it's time to get up.
- 52:35Speaker 1: That's how I knew that Scarlett's teething has been bad
- 52:38Speaker 1: because that's usually like she's so happy to start the
- 52:42Speaker 1: day and is like up. If she's not up, what
- 52:46Speaker 1: I usually do is I'll like, I told y'all I
- 52:49Speaker 1: like sing and I go over and pull the drapes
- 52:51Speaker 1: to the side. I open up the blinds and let
- 52:55Speaker 1: the sun come in. And by that time when I
- 52:56Speaker 1: turn around, she's always standing. But with the teething stuff, dude,
- 53:01Speaker 1: she is just forehead buried into the mattress and has
- 53:06Speaker 1: been just like. like whenever i'm waking her yeah i'm
- 53:11Speaker 1: like oh okay something something's up scotty's been so excited
- 53:14Speaker 1: she like bounces and jumps like on the rail and
- 53:16Speaker 1: she's she's busted her chin on the rail golly she's
- 53:23Speaker 1: got so much of you in there.
- 53:24Speaker 2: It's crazy if she's also got this um aggression that
- 53:29Speaker 2: i don't feel like is me where it's like so
- 53:31Speaker 2: say she hits her chin on the thing uh You
- 53:34Speaker 2: like pick her up and try to console her, but
- 53:35Speaker 2: she's like mad and she wants to be down because she's,
- 53:38Speaker 2: whether it's embarrassed or whatever, and she'll start swinging on
- 53:40Speaker 2: the rail.
- 53:42Speaker 1: No! For hitting her? Yeah, yeah. She's like, what the heck, rail?
- 53:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:47Speaker 1: That's kind of sick.
- 53:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:50Speaker 1: You'll be able to... She could be like Trevor writing in, like,
- 53:53Speaker 1: because it's 21 months, so that's Scotty.
- 53:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:56Speaker 1: Scotty, I just don't think she has.
- 53:57Speaker 2: We haven't, like, lifted it up to where she.
- 54:00Speaker 1: I don't think yet she has the ability to climb out.
- 54:02Speaker 1: She could. She's a... She's all over the place. Yeah.
- 54:05Speaker 1: Scotty's all over the place. You cannot contain her. She's
- 54:07Speaker 1: like Michael Vick in his prime. You know what I mean?
- 54:10Speaker 1: Who was.
- 54:12Speaker 1: Dare I say it, a dog. Yeah. Michael Vick, dog. Dog.
- 54:16Speaker 1: I mean, yeah. For a couple reasons.
- 54:20Speaker 2: But Scottie is where you'd have to go man up
- 54:22Speaker 2: three deep and spy the middle linebacker and do D
- 54:26Speaker 2: and contain when you're playing defense against Michael Vick and
- 54:28Speaker 2: Madden back in what, 0-4?
- 54:29Speaker 1: 0-4 or 5, dude. Yeah.
- 54:34Speaker 7: Golly.
- 54:35Speaker 2: The only one that could keep up with Michael Vick
- 54:37Speaker 2: then if you just had a rush end was Carlos Dunlap.
- 54:41Speaker 2: From former Florida Gator. Like, he'd be the one that had, like,
- 54:44Speaker 2: 89 speed that could at least keep up and run
- 54:48Speaker 2: a little bit with Michael Vick.
- 54:49Speaker 1: I'm getting into Sicko Madden more. Who was he playing
- 54:51Speaker 1: with at the time? Would have been Bengals, probably. Yeah, probably. Yeah,
- 54:55Speaker 1: was it the Bengals? Yeah. He definitely was a Bengal
- 54:57Speaker 1: at some point. I don't know about that. Was it
- 54:59Speaker 1: Carlos Dunlap? Am I saying that right, name?
- 55:01Speaker 6: I mean, that's a very good defensive player that played.
- 55:05Speaker 6: The Bengals, the Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks. He was on the
- 55:08Speaker 6: BCS Florida Gators in 09.
- 55:09Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 55:10Speaker 1: Carlos Dunlap.
- 55:10Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 55:11Speaker 1: Got to run that prevent.
- 55:12Speaker 2: Yeah, so some of the people that are our age
- 55:14Speaker 2: in their mid-30s that used to play Madden know exactly
- 55:18Speaker 2: what the.
- 55:19Speaker 1: Defense was talking about when you played against the Falcons.
- 55:21Speaker 7: Yes.
- 55:23Speaker 1: Also, with the hitting of the rail after she gets hurt.
- 55:27Speaker 1: You'll bottle and channel that. Yeah, yeah.
- 55:30Speaker 2: That's somebody who's very teachable, and you're licking your chops
- 55:33Speaker 2: at potential like that.
- 55:35Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. You say, oh, I kind of like that. Yeah, yeah. Oh,
- 55:40Speaker 1: come here, sweetheart. But I kind of like that.
- 55:44Speaker 6: Sherman, if you want a transition, we are on the clock.
- 55:48Speaker 1: You guys would like to make a pick? Oh, yes.
- 55:51Speaker 1: For the Dad's Fancy Football League, Uh, it's six hour, um, four,
- 55:57Speaker 1: four hour time window. So we're still our time window
- 56:00Speaker 1: from Sunday right now.
- 56:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:02Speaker 1: We have, we got three and a half hours to
- 56:04Speaker 1: make our pick the draft right now for the dad's fancy.
- 56:08Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:09Speaker 6: To make one of our picks yesterday. And you're like,
- 56:12Speaker 6: we got some studs.
- 56:13Speaker 1: Yeah. You're still on the clock. It's still going. Yeah.
- 56:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:17Speaker 1: Yeah. You got, you got four hours to make your pick.
- 56:20Speaker 1: I love that. It's a deal. I mean, what a
- 56:23Speaker 1: PT sicko league. It's a deal. Yeah, it's just a
- 56:27Speaker 1: bunch of dads. Nobody here was in a tie. What's
- 56:30Speaker 1: the league called?
- 56:31Speaker 6: So this is the PT sicko. We're in the NFL.
- 56:34Speaker 6: There is a CFL that is the relegation league. And
- 56:37Speaker 6: I think it's worst three teams and best three swap
- 56:40Speaker 6: at the.
- 56:40Speaker 1: End of this year. So we're in the NFL. We
- 56:43Speaker 1: got some studs.
- 56:44Speaker 2: You know, that fires me up that we are in
- 56:46Speaker 2: a PT Sicko Fantasy League with a bunch of dads.
- 56:48Speaker 1: With a bunch of dads. A bunch of dads are
- 56:50Speaker 1: having to set their alarms to, well, you know, I
- 56:53Speaker 1: won't be up for another four hours. So my draft
- 56:57Speaker 1: pick will probably be at 3 a.m.
- 56:59Speaker 3: Tonight.
- 56:59Speaker 1: I'll set the alarm for that.
- 57:01Speaker 6: Would you have picked Jackson Dart over Bo Nix? Because
- 57:06Speaker 6: we got in. No, we didn't get into it. But
- 57:08Speaker 6: as owners, we had a good, healthy debate.
- 57:13Speaker 2: I think the floor for Bo Nix is much higher,
- 57:21Speaker 2: but the ceiling potential Jackson Dart, it depends. Like, do
- 57:25Speaker 2: we have another cue that's starting? Are we looking at
- 57:29Speaker 2: who the starter is going to be? Because we're looking
- 57:31Speaker 2: at who the starter is going to be.
- 57:32Speaker 1: QB1. That's our QB1. I'm more like Bo Nix.
- 57:35Speaker 2: I need something that I know, okay, he's not going
- 57:38Speaker 2: to be the best, but you need a good at
- 57:40Speaker 2: least 15 every week.
- 57:41Speaker 1: We're going to build around him. We went dart.
- 57:45Speaker 6: I wish you would have been there for this discussion
- 57:47Speaker 6: because I was big Bo Nix and they were dart
- 57:50Speaker 6: and they just kept going, which was kind of cool.
- 57:54Speaker 1: He just gets my piss hot, man. He does, but
- 57:56Speaker 1: Bo Nix can still beat you with his legs.
- 57:58Speaker 2: And Bo Nix going into the next iteration of the
- 58:01Speaker 2: Sean Payton offense, I think there's, again, there's things that
- 58:05Speaker 2: he hasn't tapped into, whether it's footwork, whatever it is, weapons.
- 58:10Speaker 1: We all agreed that... He was QB7 last year? That's
- 58:12Speaker 1: what I mean.
- 58:13Speaker 7: Okay, we all agreed that Bo Nix was probably the
- 58:15Speaker 7: smarter choice. But we also agreed the more fun choice
- 58:20Speaker 7: would be Jackson Dart.
- 58:21Speaker 1: Yeah, true.
- 58:24Speaker 2: But again, it's like the example that you compare it
- 58:26Speaker 2: to is what Anthony Richardson going into his second year.
- 58:31Speaker 1: Or first year? That's a.
- 58:34Speaker 1: A little bit of an out there. Now it is
- 58:36Speaker 1: because of how it's unfolded. But again, you're looking at
- 58:39Speaker 1: more of like ceiling potential and you're like, you have
- 58:42Speaker 1: to kind of get wowed by, Oh, look at this
- 58:44Speaker 1: guy's ability. Anthony Richardson also only played 15 games in college.
- 58:48Speaker 1: I think everyone going that second season, I, at least
- 58:50Speaker 1: I was like, I I'll believe it when I see
- 58:52Speaker 1: it kind of thing. Yeah. A lot of college. Anyway,
- 58:59Speaker 1: Bo Nix is like, you can believe it because you
- 59:02Speaker 1: have seen it. Jackson dart. won't believe it until I
- 59:06Speaker 1: see it. You've seen a decent bit.
- 59:09Speaker 2: You've seen somebody who's out there that if he don't
- 59:10Speaker 2: start sliding, he's going to get knocked stiff.
- 59:14Speaker 1: That's a big problem.
- 59:15Speaker 7: That's why we're going to draft a backup today, and
- 59:19Speaker 7: we'll need to lock in for it.
- 59:21Speaker 1: Who do we want to draft right now? What do
- 59:24Speaker 1: we got? We got to keep for the dance. We're
- 59:26Speaker 1: kind of getting out. We're fantasy football pod right now.
- 59:30Speaker 1: I know the dance love talking ball. They love talking ball.
- 59:33Speaker 1: It is officially week one of college football. Guys, you
- 59:36Speaker 1: know them, you love them. It's Olipop. And we actually

- 1:02:21Speaker 1: That matters because you're not dealing with some major corporation.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: You're dealing with a brand that's been doing this the
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: right way for generations. And their whole thing is built

- 1:03:16Speaker 1: this episode. Do we want to jump in to crack
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: a cold one? Let's crack a cold one. Give me
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: a crack a cold one. Crack a cold one is,
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: of course, brought to us by Olipop. I've yet to
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: try the caramel apple. Time out. Is it cold?
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: It is.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: Need it to be cold because this sealing potential caramel apple.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: This is the drink of spooktober. I do not like
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: caramel apples. Like, that's not a treat that I would
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: go after. I like this drink. Don't lie to us.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: I'm not. You will watch me finish this drink. Like,
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: it is a good drink. I do like caramel apple.
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: And I'll say the hints of all of it is
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: very well done because I'm a crisp apple fan. You
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: throw a little caramel in there. Who knows if it's
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: going to taste too... Is that what it is to you?
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: It's going to taste too syrupy. But caramel apple is
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: a drink of spooktober. You talk about a great release
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: time right now heading into the fall.
- 1:04:23Speaker 6: I said, Sherm, when we were trying it, that this
- 1:04:25Speaker 6: is the perfect thing to pour over top of like
- 1:04:28Speaker 6: vanilla ice cream when people do that like butterbeer ice
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: cream mix.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: And so it's a perfect one for that. Yes. It
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: actually really would be a good float drink. It is
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: a great float drink.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: If you have my brain right now, we're at Universal Studios.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: We're at Islands of Adventure. Great float drink. We're Harry Potter.
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: 1,000%, bro. That's a great call, Deke. Well fucking done, Deke.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: Great call. We got to have caramel apple floats. We should.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: Next pod. Next episode. Hey, you are spot on. We
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: can make them. And you see the look on my face.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: I'm not fucking with you. No, no, no. You're spot
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: on with that. You are spot on with that. Which is,
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: I like it. I like the energy you bring because
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: it's a good flavor. When you painted that, I'm like, yeah.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: Ollie Pops is just going to be sitting there watching
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: us eat our floats. It very much.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: Reminds me that I'm drinking butterbeer right now. I'm envisioning
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: it in my head.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: I still have the taste of caramel in my mouth
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: in a good way. Yeah. It's a very nice, sweet taste.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Holy shit, I cannot wait to put that on. Can
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: you taste the apple? When I drink it, yes, but
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: the aftertaste of the caramel... a hundred percent overpowers the apple.
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: And I like that. As far as now that I'm
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: thinking vanilla ice cream, I'm thinking pie. Like the, yeah,
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: the float is unlocked. What's your crack a cold one
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: this week for? Um, I'm looking forward to labor day weekend. Um,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: family's coming in town. My dad's coming in town and
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: Jill's mom is coming in town. Um, we're knocking some
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: stuff off the docket as far as stuff that needs
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: to be done around the house. That does unfortunately include
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: the doggies going back to Fort Worth. They'll be returning, uh,
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: with Jill's mom, uh, when she comes up here. And
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: I'm going to the Auburn Baylor game, which I've seen
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: on the Instagram reel that that original clip of me
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: not being able to go to the Auburn Baylor game
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: has been getting follow up comments like crazy. So I
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: would just like the world to know that there wasn't
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: a battle. There wasn't a war. But I'm going to
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: the game. But if there was. If there was like
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: a winner in the situation, I'll be in Atlanta on Saturday.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: Watching Baylor get their ass whipped. People are saying. People
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: are saying. And win or lose, I'm like, I've already
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: told people my heart's going to be hurting really bad
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: if Baylor loses. which that's fine, but I am very
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: excited for the road trip that I'll have with my dad.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: That's going to be fun. From Nashville to Atlanta. And, um,
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: and then, uh, just getting to spend like that quality
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: time with them, uh, some time, uh, outside of the
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: house of, uh, like no kid and just like getting
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: to be, uh, I don't know. an adult going to
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: an adult event. It'll be fun.
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Um, but yeah, I'm, I'm very much looking forward to that.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: A bonus crack, a cold one. I saw the Odyssey
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: this weekend. That is the first movie that Jill and
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: I have gone to the theaters and seen since the
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: birth of Scar or yeah, since the birth of Scarlet.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: What's Scarlet do while you guys are watching the movie? Uh,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: we got a babysitter, got a babysitter. It was epic.
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: We went and saw a matinee. So you let somebody
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: else raise your kid? I let someone else raise my
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: kid for a solid four hours. However long that movie is.
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: What'd you think of the movie? Loved it. Absolutely loved it.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: Which one was it, sorry? The Odyssey. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Oh, no. Oh, no. Oh, no. Damn. Odyssey,
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: these nuts in your mouth, man. My brain was there
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: when you had that. I can see you in slow motion. Sure,
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: I know. What's his name? John Bernthal? No, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no. Hey,
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: he was in the Odyssey.
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: Hey, and by the way, the Odyssey, the Odyssey nuts
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: joke is a smooth one.
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: It's a smooth one. I hit somebody with that at
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: the Bahamas. Poor Harry. What was Harry doing?
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: We were playing a board game and I was like, hey,
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: what's the movie? Because I got God on the on
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: three pod a couple weeks ago. They got you.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: And I'm sitting there. I'm like, yo, that is a
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: brilliant nuts joke right now. What was the movie Matt
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: Damon was in? He's like, oh, The Odyssey. And I
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: was like, Odyssey, that's in your mouth. Can we cut
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: to that? Would On 3 be cool with us cutting
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: to that? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just for any PT sickos
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: that didn't see that, because that was hilarious. And to
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: give context. And to give context. Nebraska Comeback, it's like that.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: What was that new Matt Damon movie that just came out? Oh,
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: The Odyssey. I mean, The Odyssey, these nuts in your mouth.
- 1:10:06Speaker 8: Yes!
- 1:10:06Speaker 5: Yes!
- 1:10:07Speaker 4: Yes!
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Gotta have contacts. I hit Harry on a two-piece too.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: Another game takes place and he's sitting to my left
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: and I was like, hey, you into... Dude, are you
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: into fitness? He's like, yeah, yeah, I am. Is Harry
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: a friend before this trip? You mean Harry the... Oh, okay, okay. No,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: we were cool before the trip. I'm saying you knew
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Harry before the trip. Yes, I knew Harry before the trip.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: I knew Harry before the trip. I thought that's And
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: the fitness one was the second one. I didn't even
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: finish it on the fitness one. I was like, hey,
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: you into fitness? Yeah, yeah. And I was like, come on, man.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: I just got you again. Threw him a towel. Clean
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: yourself up. Oh, my God. Dude, imagine that being your
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: icebreaker on the beach to meet a fellow dad. Like
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: the kids start like playing. They're having a good time.
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: Imagine a couple in a car right now listening to
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: this pod.
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: And a PT sicko or maybe future PT sicko. So
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: I want to put you on this pod. And in
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: that moment, in this moment, she pauses and just looks
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: over like, this is what you want to me. This
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: is what you want me to listen to.
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: Yeah. And then that's when you turn to her and
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: you say, wait, you don't like this show. Phillip loves
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: this show. She goes, who's Phillip? You got, how about
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: you fill up on these nuts? And then you hit play.
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: Nuts jokes and fantasy football talk. Oh, wow. This is
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: going to teach you to be a great dad. Oh,
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: this is spectacular. So this is what my husband listens
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: to when he has his headphones on around the house. Perfect.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: You said your crack of coal? Oh, my crack of
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: coal one. Did I use the grandparents one last week?
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: I don't think so. Oh, you did.
- 1:12:04Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:12:04Speaker 8: Damn.
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: Two weeks ago. We did it again over the weekend.
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: Charles had a bar three event, like a company event
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: where she hosted a party at the house.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Oh, that's right. Shout out bar three, no free shout outs.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: Um, and so we went to drop the kids off at,
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: at grandparents because she was going to do the party
- 1:12:23Speaker 2: for like several hours in the evening time. And she
- 1:12:25Speaker 2: was like, well, what are you going to do? Are
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: you going to participate in the party? I was like, Oh, sweetheart,
- 1:12:30Speaker 2: week zero college ball. Like this is the fact that
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: we're driving up around noon to drop the kiddos off
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: at grandparents' house.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: They've already stayed. They already stayed with them a couple
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: of weeks ago.
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: We got a little trial run and then a little
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: bit of a walkthrough and it went very well to
- 1:12:46Speaker 2: where they were prepped to go for the second time.
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: But dude, the kids being out of the house, like
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: driving back home with wifey and going to an empty
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: house and kind of prepping, helping her prep for the
- 1:12:57Speaker 2: party and everything else. And, It's kind of like, what
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: are you going to do? It's like, oh, I'm going
- 1:13:01Speaker 2: to go hit legs in the garage. And then I'm
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: going to go to the shop and just start prepping
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: and getting ahead on some ESPN pre-production stuff for our
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: college football show.
- 1:13:09Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: That we're going to be at Baton Rouge on Friday.
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: And watch, you know, watch some ball. And just knowing
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: that it's like, you don't have the guilt. Like while
- 1:13:18Speaker 2: I'm here watching the games and prepping for ESPN, Charles
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: having a great time at home doing the bar three party.
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: And just knowing that they're like, the kids involved in
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: would just be a text from the grandparents.
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: But knowing that there's no, there's nothing weighing on you
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: that wifey's at home with the kids. Like I need
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: to be, I would have been at home.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: I'm being selfish. I'm yeah.
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: None of those tapes are playing. But I guess I
- 1:13:42Speaker 2: can't use it again because I used it last week.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: But dude, it's like it's unlocked something new in both
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: of us. Not that we're rushing to go drop a lump,
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: but we're just thinking like in the, now that we're
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: in the flow, Rue is old enough. Scotty is like,
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: she just fits in like a puzzle piece. She's got
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: older sister Rue with her. They sleep in the same room.
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: They knock it out of the park staying with Lola
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: and Opa. Lola and Opa loves having them over. I'm
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: sure they're, you know, a little much at times.
- 1:14:07Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: With breakdowns and them fighting and stuff like that. But also, dude,
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: it is crazy. I 100% the parents out there that
- 1:14:17Speaker 2: have the tribe of parents close by or in town
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: or whatever it is to where your kids can go
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: stay at their house.
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: Dude, it is incredible. It's got to be.
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: And then you wake up the next morning and there's
- 1:14:30Speaker 2: not like the monitors aren't going.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: We're laying down in bed at probably like 1130 or 1030,
- 1:14:33Speaker 2: 11 at night and be like, yo. Because Charles is like, oh,
- 1:14:38Speaker 2: I got to teach in the morning, but not until nine.
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: So it's like, oh, you still get to sleep in.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: I mean, I can do whatever. There's no pressure. There's nothing.
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: So I wake up, I'm going to go do some
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: zone two. I'm going to go, I don't know, veg
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: out on the couch. I'm going to sleep in.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: I'm going to try and sleep in as much as possible,
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: even though your brain just can't get past like sleeping
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: beyond like 8, 830.
- 1:14:58Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: I'm just going to lay in bed. Who knows? Doesn't matter.
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: The world is our oyster, bro. That's honestly why I'm
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: looking forward to Atlanta. Just kind of like what we
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: talked about over the phone too and conversations I've been
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: having with Jill. But isn't Jill going to Cali with Scarlett? No,
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: she's staying in town. She decided she's not going to California.
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: Where's Scarlett going to be? With Jill and Lisa. Lisa's
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: going to be a massive help.
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: But I'm just saying when it gets to the spot,
- 1:15:33Speaker 2: when Scarlett's old enough to kind of like, you know,
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: you entrust your bear or whoever for her to sleep.
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: Over, dude, it is crazy, bro. Oh, big time. I'm
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: talking about the feeling that I'm going to have in
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: Atlanta because Scarlett's not on my brain. She is with
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: grandma and mom. And like how much I didn't realize
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: that I needed those moments. little breaks like you need
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: those moments where you can um better you know self-care
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: to you better uh care with your wife like that's
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: epic that's epic.
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: Dude yeah just envision one day when it's like you
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: and jill go somewhere whether it's a staycation or whatever
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: it is Or whether you're at home and maybe your
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: parents are in town and they have like an Airbnb
- 1:16:20Speaker 2: or something. And it's like, Scarlett's going to go sleep
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: over there. And you guys are just driving back home
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: and be like, what in the hell do you want
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: to do tonight?
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: We can do whatever. You know who's punching air right now? <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: Someone else is raging. No, no, no, no.
- 1:16:37Speaker 5: Not really.
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: Cause he doesn't believe, he just doesn't believe in it.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: So he's like, you know, teach their own. But dude,
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: it's awesome. It's crazy. That's a huge crack a cold
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: one win.
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: It's one where you're just sitting there and you're like, oh,
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: I get it when people kind of talk about them
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: going to stay with grandma and grandpa.
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: Yeah. It's crazy.
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: But if I had another crack a cold one, because
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: I know I used that one last week, but it's like,
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: I'm not going to get into it again.
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: It's so nice you did it twice.
- 1:17:07Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: Like, man, we can kind of do this to where
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: if I want to get some ball watching in, Sweetheart,
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: go take care. Do whatever you want to do. Let's
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: go drop them off at Lola and Opa's. Yeah. I
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: can watch ball all day.
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: I don't have to like sneak around. You know what
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: I mean?
- 1:17:23Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: I know. You unlocked something here, Will Compton.
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: You did. It is a beautiful thing.
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: Other one would be like, dude, I am the jungle
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: gym for Scotty and Rue because it's like monkey see,
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: monkey do. They always want to do what each other does. Dad,
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: can I ride on your shoulders? Once one goes up there,
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: the other one's got to go up there. But it's like,
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: we'll be, say we'll be chilling. Scotty can just cuddle
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: with mom and relax with mom. Charles probably like, that's
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: not true. Okay, I know she does climb around a
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: lot and everything else. But it's pretty rare that Scotty
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: will just lay there with me. If I'm on the
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: couch and Charles is like, go lay with dada. And
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, come cuddle with dada. It's sprint over
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: to me. It's climb up. Because she gets to walk
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: on my chest and jump and bounce on my stomach
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: and do all the things. But she loves it. And
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: I enjoy it a ton. But we've gotten in like
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: a good routine when dad has home. Like obviously dads
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: are like the play people.
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: Yeah. She wants to race all the time. She wants
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: me to chase, do all the things physically.
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: But we've just gotten in a great rhythm to where
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: it's like I get a lot out of it because
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: I just look at her.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: She's sprinting over. And then Rue wants to do the
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: same stuff. Rue's much bigger. I'm like, sweetheart, you wake.
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: You can't jump on my stomach the way Scotty's jumping
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: on my stomach.
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And Rue was more of a cuddler,
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: I'm guessing, with you. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: Scotty's much more active than Rue. Not that like Rue
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: was inactive or anything, but Scotty's just, she's just got
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: that screw loose or she's all about whatever it is,
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: climbing everything, running around everywhere. She's just, she's a busy body.
- 1:18:58Speaker 4: She is.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: She's a busy body. It's funny that she's already built
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: that relationship between you and mom. I know what you
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: mean of like, Scarlett is a similar ish of like
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: the only time she's really being still and stuff. I
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: feel like in cuddling is with mom and with me,
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: it's always like wanting to do something fun or crawl. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: Like mom's just like the safe space.
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: Uh huh.
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: To where they always want to be in mom's arms
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: or be around. She wants to be around mom more,
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: but it's like when dad has home and she knows
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: what time it is. It's play. It's play, play, play, play, play.
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: With Rue at that age, because we haven't really done
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: a lot of Miss Rachel with Scotty at all, because
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: Scotty just doesn't sit still. Rue, you could sit there
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: and she would watch Miss Rachel. She would sit there
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: for longer than 10 minutes. If there was a 20,
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: 30 minute pocket that were like, hey, where you can
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: watch some TV, we'll put on Miss Rachel.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: Scottie just doesn't, she can't sit still. You know what
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: I mean? Yeah.
- 1:20:02Speaker 2: Like you have to wait until she's just like trying
- 1:20:04Speaker 2: to break the baby seat or like the dinner seat
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: that she's in where she's kind of going ballistic.
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: Like, okay, we can let you out.
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: Because she can't like sit there and like, you know,
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: I know there's like, she's not old enough yet to
- 1:20:18Speaker 2: sit there and watch movies per se, but at least
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: be engaged. She just doesn't, she just doesn't care for
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: the stuff that's on TV.
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: That's funny, dude. And some of that I feel like
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: is the kid's personality as well. Because Scarlett can 100%
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: stand there for sometimes like two minutes. She'll just stand
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: with her hands up on the ottoman and watch Frozen
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: and just kind of sit there. And Jill and I
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: will be laughing in the kitchen getting dinner made or whatever.
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: And we're like, look at her. She's just like sitting
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: there just smiling, looking at the TV. And then there's
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: other moments where we'll get like pictures from daycare of
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: kids crawling. And there's like, you know, somebody sitting there
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: reading a book. And she didn't get it from me.
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: But Scarlett's just sitting in a chair listening to the
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: teacher read a book. And there's other kids crawling around.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: And I'm like, I was one of those kids crawling around.
- 1:21:13Speaker 1: She got that from mom. Yeah, Rue's got the ability
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: to veg out. Yeah, yeah. Scotty, I just don't see
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: any of that yet. Maybe she will as she gets older.
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: But I feel like Rue also had that ability to
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: veg out even when she was like 21, 22 months.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: That's crazy. Yeah, it's fascinating to just see differences in
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: both of them. Well, we have some exciting news with
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: our dad call-ins this week. Let's hit some call-ins. Our
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: dad call-ins are presented by Gravely. We got a segment
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: sponsor with Gravely? With Gravely. So gravely, uh, they are
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: our presenting sponsor for our dad call in. So let's
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: get into our first dad call in, which is a
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: titled horse load of shit. Hey boys.
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: Uh, this is Josh from Pittsburgh via Oklahoma city.
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: And, uh, today is day three of potty training.
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: And, uh, Before I get to the gory details, I
- 1:22:17Speaker 4: do want to give everybody a little, put you on
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: some game here. So we've been using the book called
- 1:22:23Speaker 4: Oh Crap Body Training by Jamie Golacki.
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: Write that down.
- 1:22:28Speaker 4: And as much as Golacki sounds like a great football
- 1:22:31Speaker 4: last name, this woman's methodology is kind of unique. The
- 1:22:38Speaker 4: first three days, the toddler is supposed to be totally naked.
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: And, uh, as you can imagine, uh.
- 1:22:45Speaker 4: When potty training that can lead to some serious, well,
- 1:22:50Speaker 4: some serious meet me in the a gap and let's
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: find out how much of a man you are situations
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: like happened today. Uh, so far so good for the
- 1:22:59Speaker 4: most part, he seems to be understanding that, uh, he
- 1:23:02Speaker 4: should pee and poop in the potty. Uh, and occasionally
- 1:23:05Speaker 4: the little man gets there, but, uh, about an hour ago, uh,
- 1:23:10Speaker 4: He backed up, stood right in front of me, and
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: opened up to what can only be described as, sorry everybody,
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: a horse load of shit onto his old man's chest.
- 1:23:21Speaker 4: A literal, like when you see a horse poop at
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: the fair, and you haven't seen a horse poop in
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: a while, and you're like, damn, that's a lot of shit.
- 1:23:29Speaker 4: That's how much shit was on my chest just an
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: hour ago. From my toddler So Josh Just keep battling
- 1:23:37Speaker 4: Just keep battling You know I'm a hockey guy So
- 1:23:40Speaker 4: you know Next shift Yeah Next.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: Guy up Get pucks deep Turn the deep Get him
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: in Get him in Meet me.
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: In the A-gap I'll get you on the next one
- 1:23:47Speaker 4: That's what I told him And You know So all
- 1:23:51Speaker 4: the parents.
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: Out there Potty training.
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: I'm going with it I'm going through it with you
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: And All I can tell you Is that A Adult
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: Olipop And a little bit of a down in a
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: hole by Alison chains goes a long way to heal
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: you from getting a shitload of horse manure from a
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: toddler on your chest.
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: So, uh, guys, thanks for the podcast.
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: It's awesome.
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: And, uh, thanks for all you do. All right. Legendary call.
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: And I will say when rude, the whole them being
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: naked for body training, when I came in on day one,
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: when it kind of started and already happened, I wasn't
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: like privy to.
- 1:24:29Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: All that. Now, when I see Rue and she's just
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: kind of running around naked, I'm like, what the fuck's
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: going on in here? What are we doing? I thought
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: she was potty training. I'm like, this is how you
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: have to potty train them? We're doing Nakey Baby? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: Nakey Baby alert. Golly. When do you start doing that?
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: Am I getting close to that? I think it's in
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: the two range. It's in the two range? It's got
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: to be. Scotty's not two yet.
- 1:24:57Speaker 7: Okay.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: Okay. And you know how my brain works.
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: I was about to say, I'm just waiting. I didn't
- 1:25:02Speaker 2: realize I did the same shout out last week for
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: Crack a Cold One.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: Jill could come in to our bedroom tomorrow and say,
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: we got to start potty training Scarlett. She's here in
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: two months now. I'd be like, oh, okay.
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: All right. Does Google tell us? Yeah. Google does. I
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: got two little ones and I'm like, I kind of
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: don't remember. A couple of dad experts over here. So
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: there's a little timeline.
- 1:25:30Speaker 6: So 18 to 24 months, some toddlers show early physical
- 1:25:32Speaker 6: independence and bladder awareness, making it possible to introduce the potty.
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: two years to three years this is the most common
- 1:25:39Speaker 6: window where physical development and communication skills align by age
- 1:25:43Speaker 6: four the majority of children achieve full daytime bladder and
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: bowel control by.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: Four okay okay okay yes i'm tired you're 18 to
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: 24 months i'm like scotty the clock's ticking if you
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: want to be great you want to be great you
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: only got a couple more months.
- 1:25:57Speaker 5: You're worried about the rail day you're in the gym
- 1:25:59Speaker 5: you need to be worried about shitting on the floor
- 1:26:01Speaker 5: what are you doing And that's why we're a couple
- 1:26:05Speaker 5: of dad experts.
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that right there. In some rare cases, you don't
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: control your bladder even up until 36.
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: And that is perfectly fine. There's nothing wrong with that. Also,
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: a shout out to... We're not going to shame bedwetters. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: That was a friend of the show, Josh. Deke's friend
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: that came into the office. We've met Josh from Pittsburgh.
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: Shout out, Josh. Shout out, Josh. He's the man. Appreciate
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: you calling in. He's the man. Got shit on.
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: You got shit on. Hey, next man up. Get the
- 1:26:39Speaker 2: next shift in. I'll get you in the AGAP the
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: next time. Oh, yeah.
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: Stay away from my daughter is our next one.
- 1:26:47Speaker 8: Hey, boys. Former Mike Backer caught in the AGAP today.
- 1:26:52Speaker 8: Got a message from my daughter, six-year-old daughter, first grade.
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: Found out some little boy, Samuel, kissed her on the
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: cheek today.
- 1:27:01Speaker 8: I'm in the AGAP, and I just want to know, comp,
- 1:27:06Speaker 8: I got some advice for me. Am I going to
- 1:27:08Speaker 8: have to show up and call for Samuel's dad when
- 1:27:12Speaker 8: I roll up to first grade? Is he going to
- 1:27:15Speaker 8: get to meet him in the A-gap?
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: Put my screws right underneath his chin and let him know? Yeah.
- 1:27:21Speaker 8: Stay away from my daughter? Or do I just play
- 1:27:26Speaker 8: a cool comp? Sherm, you can chime in as well, boys.
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: Thank you. Yeah.
- 1:27:32Speaker 8: First and only child Six years old, gets a peck
- 1:27:38Speaker 8: on the cheek. I don't like it. My wife says
- 1:27:41Speaker 8: that's kind of normal. You know, my daughter said, ew,
- 1:27:44Speaker 8: she didn't like it, which is good.
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: But I just want to vote. What are we doing
- 1:27:48Speaker 1: in this situation? I appreciate what you guys are doing.
- 1:27:52Speaker 8: Zach from Sacramento.
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: Talk to me. Talk to me, baby. I think a
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: great starting point is knowing that his daughter said, ew.
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: So right there, opportunity.
- 1:28:05Speaker 2: Take a walk with me and let her know, sweetheart,
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: we can't let those things happen.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. If it does happen again, you got
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: to let me know immediately. Yeah.
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: If you're my man here and you happen to be
- 1:28:16Speaker 2: around it and can see it, maybe you can snag
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: the photo because then you can bring the photo to
- 1:28:21Speaker 2: the old man and just point, zoom in for him
- 1:28:24Speaker 2: and let the old man know this has to stop.
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: Yeah, who is that? Is that... Or me and you
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: are going to have problems. That kind of looks like Samuel,
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: doesn't it? Crazy. Because it looks like Samuel's... Putting one
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: on my daughter's cheek. Yeah.
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: And next time it happens... it's going to be me
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: kissing your cheek. And when I say kissing you on
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: the cheek, it's going to be me putting this right here,
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: right underneath your fucking chin.
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: I'll give you a kiss on your cheek in your
- 1:28:49Speaker 1: damn hospital bed, buddy. Because you're going to be breathing
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: through it too. Hey, you love your boy? You want
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: him eating out of a straw? Ha ha ha! That
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: might be too far. That might be too far. We're joking.
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: But maybe he's got a rapport with the old man.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: Who knows? But also, most schools have a directory. Most
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: directories will have a phone number or a home address
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: on there. I don't know. And maybe the driveway got
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: a couple of razor blades in it. Everything's on the table.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: Maybe he just keeps on getting flats blown into his driveway.
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. That
- 1:29:33Speaker 1: thing's cherry. That thing's pretty nice. What do you think
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: happened to that, do you? No way. He just started,
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: next time it happens, he just starts keying his vehicle.
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: Imagine keying someone's vehicle because they kissed your daughter on
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: the cheek.
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: Bro, when Rue was two, we were at State Golden
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: when it was over Over on this end of Nashville.
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: And we were eating next to this other family, Boyd,
- 1:30:08Speaker 2: similar in age. And when we left, because they were
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: playing together, they were running up and down the halls.
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: And when we left, with Rue, it's always a hug
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: and a kiss. Rue gives this boy a hug and
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: a kiss. He's like, oh, I almost didn't know how
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: to respond.
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: But we gave her a talking to on the car ride. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: Mom let her know, sweetheart, we only kiss family members. Yeah.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: We can't be kissing strangers.
- 1:30:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: And I'm like, especially no boy. She's like, sweetheart. You
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: saw his haircut, babe. He's a chump. The kid's going
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: to be a nobody. No, sweetie. He saw an angle
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: and he took it. Where's the one that kissed him? Oh,
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: my God. Um, third and final voicemail or call in is, uh,
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: when it rains, it pours. What's up boys.
- 1:31:06Speaker 9: This is, uh, yeah, it's been a day.
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: Hours.
- 1:31:12Speaker 9: I'm an expected father. My wife is currently 35 weeks
- 1:31:16Speaker 9: pregnant with twins, twin girls. And, uh, the last 48 hours.
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: Have been complete chaos, buddy.
- 1:31:22Speaker 9: My, we've been dealing with a little, you know, plumbing issue.
- 1:31:26Speaker 9: And yesterday morning, my wife called me up, says the
- 1:31:30Speaker 9: kitchen sink is completely overflowing and flushing out sewage, basically,
- 1:31:35Speaker 9: from our septic tank into the kitchen.
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: So I'm at work.
- 1:31:38Speaker 9: My parents go over there. They help her out.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: They get it all dried. They get a plumber.
- 1:31:42Speaker 9: Plumber doesn't get there till today. So my wife spent
- 1:31:44Speaker 9: the night at her mom's because we can't use the water.
- 1:31:47Speaker 9: I spent all evening till like 1 a.m. cleaning, taking
- 1:31:51Speaker 9: care of it, all this stuff, right?
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: I get like three hours of sleep. Get up. Good, good, good.
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: We have a new bed frame.
- 1:31:59Speaker 9: The head of the bed frame collapsed on me, and
- 1:32:02Speaker 9: my feet flew up in the air when I got
- 1:32:04Speaker 9: back in bed after snoozing my alarm. So my dad
- 1:32:08Speaker 9: gets there for the plumber that's coming. Plumber gets there.
- 1:32:12Speaker 9: My dad calls me about an hour ago. Says, hey,
- 1:32:16Speaker 9: there's a busted pipe. You got to rip out your
- 1:32:18Speaker 9: whole front stoop, all this stuff, busted pipe, all kinds
- 1:32:21Speaker 9: of issues.
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: Could be a while.
- 1:32:24Speaker 9: At the same moment that I'm on the phone with
- 1:32:25Speaker 9: my father, who is dealing with the plumber for me,
- 1:32:29Speaker 9: my wife calls me.
- 1:32:30Speaker 8: Oh.
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: And says, it's time to go to the hospital. Oh, yeah.
- 1:32:34Speaker 9: Doctor said I got to come in.
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: Having tons of pain.
- 1:32:37Speaker 9: Think I'm going into labor.
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 1:32:39Speaker 9: So I leave work and I'm on the way right
- 1:32:41Speaker 9: now to pick up my wife to take her to
- 1:32:44Speaker 9: the hospital. And yeah.
- 1:32:48Speaker 7: Good.
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: Good. Good, boys.
- 1:32:51Speaker 4: When it rains, it pours.
- 1:32:52Speaker 8: Love you guys.
- 1:32:54Speaker 7: PG6 out.
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: I appreciate that phone call, that voicemail so much. He's
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: on his way. You know what I mean? All this
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: chaos is happening. He's like, let me call in. I
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: got to vent to the boys. The fact that he
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: thought about us. All three. I love the energy of
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: all three callers coming in. Yeah. Those were good call-ins.
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: All entering the A-gap. They really were. All three. Dude,
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: best of luck to you and yours and congratulations. I mean,
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: I'm guessing that, you know, like. They had the kid,
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: by the way.
- 1:33:24Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: You had the kid.
- 1:33:25Speaker 3: Twins.
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: Oh, they did have the twins. They had twins. Oh,
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: my God. Dude. Imagine twins. You got to tear up
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: your porch.
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: Good.
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: It's amazing. And you got all the brown paper that
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: you got to walk on. You got to put the
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: shoe sleeves on because you're walking through. There's all this
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: construction going on in your house.
- 1:33:47Speaker 8: Good.
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: Ideal. No sleep.
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: Good.
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: Good. Postpartum.
- 1:33:52Speaker 4: Good.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: The cartoon, like, illustration in my head of just the
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: feet above the head is incredible. You know, he goes...
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: He's about to snooze my alarm. Imagine the stare that
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: you have at your bed when you finally gather yourself
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: and you get out of the bed. And it's like
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: a Willie C picking out a soda at the gas station.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: You're just looking at him. I mean, you gotta be
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: kidding me, man. Gotta be fucking kidding me. You just
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: sit there. Pregnant wife sleeping at grandma's. He's in hell.
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: House smells like shit.
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: Seems like you got a busted pipe. You know, shit.
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: Oh, really?
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: Okay. Um, and of course, dad Collins, they're presented by gravely. Um,
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: That is it for this week's ad call-ins. Click the
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: link in the description below of this episode to find
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: your Gravely mower.
- 1:34:55Speaker 2: Dude, I love that Gravely's on board because you know
- 1:34:58Speaker 2: the haters are punching air right now.
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: How will he get a lawn mowing company? He doesn't
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: even mow his own yard. Tamale's losing it right now.
- 1:35:09Speaker 1: Phoenix is losing it right now. Oh, we got a
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: little bag of them. We're starting to collect them. Phoenix. Phoenix, dude.
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: Cannon's going to hate them all. Oh, my God. He's
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: going to hate them all. Yeah. Once we get all
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: of Cannon's voicemails, oh, my God. The guy that calls
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: in each week and he literally just, he knows that.
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: I text him from the phone sometimes. Check in. Make
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: sure he's having a good day. He just calls in
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: to bitch about haters. He hates the For the Dads haters.
- 1:35:44Speaker 9: Oh, really?
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: Leaves like four... This is.
- 1:35:47Speaker 6: The one we said that he was ready to go
- 1:35:50Speaker 6: fight the blue-haired barista that said you didn't have a
- 1:35:53Speaker 6: day job.
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: He had gone. That can work. Set him off. That's
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: a guy that's on the squad. We need to compile
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: the cannon cut. He's listening to the Tamale comment coming
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: after my voice.
- 1:36:08Speaker 4: Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: He's like the guy in Billy Madison with just the list. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Listen,
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: he kind of doesn't know how to defend himself. I
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: don't blame him. He kind of doesn't know how to
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: handle it. I need to take care of this guy. Yeah.
- 1:36:27Speaker 1: Do you want to read an email and then I
- 1:36:30Speaker 1: have a lesson of the week? Yeah, I'll hit an email.
- 1:36:33Speaker 7: Okay.
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: You have Lesson of the Week ready? Yes, sir. Yeah,
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: you read the email. I'll do Lesson of the Week.
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: This one is from Thomas Spots. Oh! Hey, guys. Tom
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: from Denville, New Jersey here. New Jersey here.
- 1:36:48Speaker 2: Go Big Red, of course. I have family in Elkhorn, Omaha,
- 1:36:52Speaker 2: so big Scurs fan.
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: Of course. Denville, New Jersey. Go Big Red. Go Big Red, baby.
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: I just went for a run and I'm currently sitting...
- 1:37:03Speaker 2: On my kayak, yes, my Papa Team Fit shirt is on.
- 1:37:07Speaker 2: I haven't listened to the latest Sode yet. It's currently
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: 6 a.m. while I'm riding this. Lately, I've been getting
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: up early, doing my PT Fit, going for a run,
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: and then taking the kayak out on the lake.
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: What a hell yeah, dude. Come on.
- 1:37:19Speaker 2: I'll just sit there for a while and relax and
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: drink my coffee. It's been really good for the mind. Recently,
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: I've been going through this wave of sadness of getting older,
- 1:37:28Speaker 2: watching my kid grow up, and realizing just how fleeting
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: time really is, as you guys always say. Then while
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: I'm sitting here on the kayak right now with the
- 1:37:36Speaker 2: birds chirping, sun coming up, and my hot coffee in hand,
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: I remember it's Wednesday and I'll be listening to For
- 1:37:42Speaker 2: the Dads on my way into work. And I know
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: it will put me in a better mood. Maybe I'll laugh.
- 1:37:47Speaker 2: Maybe I'll cry. Either way, I get something out of
- 1:37:50Speaker 2: it and I always feel better afterward. I can honestly
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: say that you guys have made me a better father,
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: better husband, and a better friend. I really appreciate what
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: you guys are doing. It's something I look forward to
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: every week. You make me feel normal. You make me
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: feel human. And you remind me that it's okay to
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: not have everything figured out. I've got a three-year-old daughter, Emma,
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: who is amazing and absolutely crazy. But I wouldn't want
- 1:38:12Speaker 2: it any other way. So I just wanted to say
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: thank you. Keep doing what you're doing because it really
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: does make a difference. I appreciate you guys. That includes
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: the boys in the back. Tom from Denville, New Jersey.
- 1:38:25Speaker 2: What a very nice.
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: Come on, dude. Thank you, Tom. sipping some coffee you
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: got a picture after pt fit look at that go
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: big red bro we gotta get her in new jersey
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: though hey that is a badass morning routine though kayak
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: in the aero in the pt fit yeah having some
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: coffee out on the water watching the sunrise like oh
- 1:38:53Speaker 1: today's wednesday the fact that he's thinking about us dude
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: i know um that's so cool and thank you uh
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: remind me his first name thomas thank like just thank
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: you thomas for taking the time to write that in
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: because as much as you say hey thank you uh
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: will and sherman the guys in the back for the show, blah, blah, blah. Like,
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: thank you for that write-in. Cause if you think we're
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: helping you be a good dad, dude, it's, it's write-ins
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: like that, that remind me of all the good dads
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: that are out there. And, uh, what I aspire to
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: try to be as a dad, like, I mean that, like, that's,
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: that's really cool shit right there in that email.
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: Don't look, bottle those, bottle that gratitude up. Because again,
- 1:39:41Speaker 2: it's like life and chaos happens.
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: Yeah. You lose sight of it.
- 1:39:44Speaker 2: Yeah. The loose side of it, get caught up in
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: all your own bullshit. But dude, having mornings like that,
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: having a kiddo ripping around in a 15, I'm assuming
- 1:39:54Speaker 2: Tommy Frazier.
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: Oh, that's okay.
- 1:39:56Speaker 4: Good.
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: That's Tommy Frazier. Could be. I was thinking around.
- 1:40:01Speaker 2: We'll say Tommy Frazier. We'll say Tommy Frazier. Tommy Frazier.
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: We'll say it's a Tommy Frazier jersey. But no, thank you, man.
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: Thank you for the words. Thank you for making us
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: feel very undeserving with that right in.
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: Um, But that is awesome. Love that. Thank you, Thomas.
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: I have a fun lesson of the week. Let's hear it.
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: It is a longer quote. It comes from Stephen DeNear.
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: And you might not know who Stephen DeNear is. I
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: didn't until I listened to a TED Talk of his.
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: But this is a little SERP from a TED Talk
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: of his. He was a senior foreign... foreign exchange and
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: emerging markets trader for Bank of America and AIG. And
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: then he was the founding portfolio manager of a $ 1. 25
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: billion global macro fund, like a hedge fund. So this
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: guy is making crazy big financial decisions that not only
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: affect himself, but affect everybody whose money are in these
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: hedge funds. And these huge banks, AIG and Bank of America.
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: And so he was talking about making decisions and the
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: importance of making good decisions. And these are now his words.
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: Novak Jovovich, the tennis player, back in 2004, when he
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: first became a professional player, he was ranked 680th in
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: the world. It wasn't until the end of his third
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: year that he jumped up to be ranked third in
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: the world. He went from making $ 250, 000 a year to
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: $ 5 million a year in prize money alone. And of course,
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: he did this by winning more matches. However, winning matches
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: all comes down to decision making. So back when he
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: was winning about 49% of his matches when he was
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: ranked 680th in the world. He was winning about 49%
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: of the points that he was playing. So every single
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: point that he would play in a match, he would
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: win 49% of those. And he was having to make
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: a decision in every single one of those points being played.
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: Then he jumped up and became number three in the
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: world and earned $ 5 million a year for swinging a racket.
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: And in order to move up to third in the world,
- 1:42:41Speaker 1: he had to improve his decision success rate to just 52%.
- 1:42:46Speaker 1: So from 49% to 52%, he shot up from being
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: 680th in the world to top 10 tennis player in
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: the world. Then to become not just number one, but
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: maybe one of the greatest players to ever play the game,
- 1:43:01Speaker 1: he only had to improve from 52% to a rate
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: of 55%. So we keep using the word just. I
- 1:43:12Speaker 1: don't want to imply that this is easy to do. Clearly,
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: it's not. But the type of marginal improvements that I'm
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: talking about are easily achievable by every single one of
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: us in this room, all in our decision making. So
- 1:43:28Speaker 1: building on making Good decisions for yourself. And that is
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: a great example right there. Waking up early to get
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: in a kayak and go watch the sunrise. Getting out
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: of bed early. That's a good decision. Seeing that your
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: wife maybe didn't get to knock out all the stuff
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: that she usually knocks out before bed. Some stuff for
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: laying on the counter. making the good decision to go
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: clean that for. Making the good decision to, I'll meal
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: prep this week or making the good decision of making
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: a grocery list to make it easier for your wife
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: if she's the one that buys groceries. All those little
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: tiny decisions, good decisions that you can make will increase
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: the amount of output and the amount of success that
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: you'll see every single day. I loved that it was
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: only a jump from 49% to 55% is what got
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: Jovovich from 680th in the world to arguably the best
- 1:44:29Speaker 1: tennis player of all time. So I thought that was
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: a cool lesson. Well said. Thank you. It is a dude.
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: It is nuts. Cause at the 49%, it feels like
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: the entire world is on top of you.
- 1:44:40Speaker 8: Right.
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:44:41Speaker 2: And just a 6% increase. You're now number one in
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: the world. It's like getting a golf ball too. Like
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: you could just have a bad shot and it just
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: feels like, yo, what the am I doing wrong?
- 1:44:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: It really just, um, like what, what would be the
- 1:44:54Speaker 2: margin of just turning your club a little bit differently?
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: What would it be like millimeters?
- 1:45:01Speaker 7: They're playing by like a 10th of a degree and angle,
- 1:45:05Speaker 7: like in terms of angles and stuff.
- 1:45:06Speaker 2: You switch a 10th of a degree and then you
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: have a completely different personality by the success of that shot.
- 1:45:12Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: A 10th of a degree.
- 1:45:14Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:45:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:45:15Speaker 2: If we're having that as factual, but think of how
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: small that is from how you feel personality wise and
- 1:45:22Speaker 2: mentally on a bad shot to just a, a 10th
- 1:45:25Speaker 2: of a degree off or a 10th of degree change.
- 1:45:28Speaker 1: Yeah. And what, uh, what Steven also, if you want, um, he,
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: the entire Ted talk is really great. Uh, but he
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: just talks about not only making the right decision, but
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: allowing yourself to make decisions and, taking yourself out of
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: situations and not forcing yourself to do everything all right
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: then and there. Being able to press pause, go to
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: the kitchen, make a water and think to yourself, hey,
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: I'm stressed because the world's on top of me. Okay,
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: what's one thing that's going to get the world not
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: on top of me? My garage. This is just an
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: example of my personal life. My garage is a mess, dude.
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: Was a mess. I can go clean that right now.
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: And I didn't get all of it done that first day.
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: I said, I have time this Saturday that I can
- 1:46:21Speaker 1: go clean the garage further. Didn't get all of it
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: done that day. I said, I can finish it up
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: on Sunday. Finish it up on Sunday and now I
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: have a clean garage. And that's just an example that
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: worked for me. But I just, I loved how he's
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: always talking about like, press pause and find those moments
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: in your day where you might make a bad decision of,
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: I'll use this as an example of like, it's not
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: even a bad decision, but going to go eat some
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: fast food because you're running home late from work. Like
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: instead of going to go get the fast food, maybe
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: go to the grocery store, take the extra time to
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: like get some flowers for wifey and get her favorite
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: little treat from the Publix and you can get something
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: to eat as well. Like something that is a, a
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: better decision than what you are making. Well said. I
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: kind of talked in a circle. It was a good one.
- 1:47:16Speaker 6: There's a reel or something I saw that was basically
- 1:47:19Speaker 6: like the person that left the house this morning is
- 1:47:20Speaker 6: not the person that's coming home this afternoon.
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: So you're a different person.
- 1:47:24Speaker 6: And so you get to make those decisions and decide,
- 1:47:26Speaker 6: am I going to come home and be a different person,
- 1:47:28Speaker 6: a better person? And those little decisions change everything that
- 1:47:31Speaker 6: we're talking about. I think that was a great lesson, Sherm.
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: Oh, thank you. Thank you, dude. Golf club. Golf club.
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: Engine a millimeter.
- 1:47:39Speaker 2: Now I got to make the decision this week while
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: people are listening to this episode to take out the trash.
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: Take out the trash.
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: We'll see you next week. We'll see you next week.
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: Burrito emojis in the comments, please. If you've made it
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: this far. Burrito emojis. We love you, chef. We love you, chef.
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: We love you.
