- 0:01Speaker 1: Reveal the rules.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Rewrite your future on your own terms. The conversation starts now.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Welcome to Do Music Differently with Hydaelyn on W4WN Radio.
- 0:16Speaker 3: Hey, everybody. I'm Hydaelyn. You're here with Do Music Differently.
- 0:23Speaker 3: And today I'm so excited because this is kind of
- 0:25Speaker 3: like the like when life gives you lemons and and
- 0:28Speaker 3: you make lemonade out of it kind of episode. And
- 0:31Speaker 3: I got, wait, I'm this side. I've got Francine Jolene
- 0:36Speaker 3: with me. She is, oh, that's a huge part in
- 0:42Speaker 3: how I have been doing music differently in my own life.
- 0:48Speaker 3: And I'm very excited to bring her to the show
- 0:52Speaker 3: to help me out today to interview our guest, Guilherme A.
- 0:57Speaker 1: De Souza.
- 0:58Speaker 3: And first of all, Francine, I wanted to give you
- 1:02Speaker 3: a second to introduce yourself.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Tell everybody who you are, what you do, all that.
- 1:07Speaker 4: I'm Francine Julien. As you can see, I'm otherwise known
- 1:10Speaker 4: as Princess Francie. And Princess Francie is my inner child.
- 1:15Speaker 4: And she is the star of my book series, Sparkle
- 1:20Speaker 4: Feathers and Princess Francie. And there's three out right now
- 1:24Speaker 4: with one more on the way soon. And they're children's
- 1:28Speaker 4: books that are derived from my personal development book that
- 1:33Speaker 4: I wrote for adults, which is also written in a
- 1:36Speaker 4: fairy tale to make it more fun for the adult
- 1:38Speaker 4: because everybody needs more fun. And I'm also Heidi's partner.
- 1:45Speaker 4: We're putting together, we're collecting a group of authors together
- 1:50Speaker 4: to do an anthology book called Believe You Can, People
- 1:54Speaker 4: Who Believe They Could and Did.
- 1:57Speaker 3: And maybe you just believe that you could be an
- 1:59Speaker 3: author one day and you're going to use our project
- 2:02Speaker 3: to get that done. So, yeah, I love working with Francine.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I met her at a local Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce
- 2:13Speaker 3: meeting for the Clay Chamber.
- 2:15Speaker 1: And, you know, I had seen her for a while.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Across the room, heard her talk about her business. We
- 2:24Speaker 3: hadn't really talked, but As it turns out, you know,
- 2:27Speaker 3: when you keep showing up to these things, sometimes all
- 2:30Speaker 3: of a sudden, like, your paths cross and you realize
- 2:34Speaker 3: that you've got some synergy going on.
- 2:37Speaker 1: And so I.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Always was kind of interested in how do you become
- 2:43Speaker 3: an author? And Francine had already done it. And what
- 2:46Speaker 3: else I love about Francine's stories?
- 2:50Speaker 5: Well.
- 2:52Speaker 3: She didn't think she was ever going to be a
- 2:54Speaker 3: children's book author. It just kind of like happened. And
- 2:57Speaker 3: so that's kind of the thing that I love about
- 3:00Speaker 3: what I do with my coaching too, is we get
- 3:03Speaker 3: to explore all of the aspects of things that you
- 3:06Speaker 3: like to do. And sometimes you stumble on opportunities that
- 3:09Speaker 3: you are never looking for, that you never thought that
- 3:12Speaker 3: you were going to have, which is exactly how Francine
- 3:16Speaker 3: and I started like working together.
- 3:17Speaker 5: Right.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Right. Hey, Heidi, would you like to do a retreat
- 3:23Speaker 4: one day?
- 3:23Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 3: And that's that is pretty much how that conversation started.
- 3:29Speaker 3: And we learned we have a lot to learn about
- 3:33Speaker 3: putting on a retreat. But what this is what I
- 3:36Speaker 3: always like to look for. What is a gift or
- 3:39Speaker 3: opportunity in a certain situation where maybe you felt like, wow,
- 3:46Speaker 3: I really screwed this up. I made the wrong choice.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Why was I even thinking about this? And for Francine
- 3:53Speaker 3: and I, we had started this live stream. And what
- 3:57Speaker 3: was great about it is at the time, I was
- 4:01Speaker 3: telling myself that alone, all by myself, maybe no one
- 4:07Speaker 3: would want to listen to anything that I would want
- 4:09Speaker 3: to ramble on.
- 4:10Speaker 1: And I would be very hard to ramble on all
- 4:12Speaker 1: by myself.
- 4:13Speaker 3: And Also, like what happens if I'm sick and like
- 4:17Speaker 3: I need to make sure that I'm showing up for people.
- 4:19Speaker 1: And what if I let people down?
- 4:20Speaker 3: And Francine, when we were talking, you pretty much said
- 4:25Speaker 3: to me like, wow, I'm I'm kind of experiencing the
- 4:28Speaker 3: same thing. Like I would like to try and do
- 4:30Speaker 3: this live streaming, but it was the tech for you.
- 4:34Speaker 1: And what else was there for you?
- 4:36Speaker 4: It was totally the tech. I was fine going on
- 4:39Speaker 4: other people's stuff. It was the thought of doing it myself.
- 4:43Speaker 4: And with a partner, everything is easier.
- 4:47Speaker 6: Yes.
- 4:48Speaker 3: And that's how I felt too. So we have been
- 4:52Speaker 3: doing the Believe Retreat for a long time. And the
- 4:55Speaker 3: reason I'm so excited for Francine to be here today
- 4:58Speaker 3: is because without this project that we had started together,
- 5:02Speaker 3: without Francine's belief in what I could accomplish, and You know,
- 5:08Speaker 3: after seeing what Francine was doing, my belief in what
- 5:11Speaker 3: Francine could accomplish. I mean, Francine, I'm more, I'm still
- 5:17Speaker 3: more tech savvy than you, but tell everybody like your biggest,
- 5:21Speaker 3: like tech breakthrough that you've had, because like it all
- 5:24Speaker 3: started with us, like working on this project.
- 5:27Speaker 1: It did.
- 5:28Speaker 4: It just, it definitely started with us doing this. And
- 5:32Speaker 4: then I learned how to use the, the streaming platform.
- 5:36Speaker 4: And it wasn't so scary anymore. So I asked my
- 5:41Speaker 4: children's authors group, what if we live stream? And we
- 5:45Speaker 4: started live streaming. Then I asked my Toastmasters group, huh?
- 5:51Speaker 4: What if we do three hours of improv to show
- 5:55Speaker 4: the world how fun improv is and how it can
- 5:58Speaker 4: help your communication skills? And we did it. And I'm
- 6:01Speaker 4: getting ready to do this model for several other groups.
- 6:07Speaker 4: So I've started this whole campaign of using streaming to
- 6:13Speaker 4: help different organizations build their membership or promote themselves, get
- 6:18Speaker 4: more visibility. And I'm finding, too, that if you're a
- 6:23Speaker 4: content creator, live streaming not only gives you that 30
- 6:28Speaker 4: minutes of your live stream, but all kinds of content
- 6:31Speaker 4: to use that you can repurpose that live stream. It's
- 6:36Speaker 4: just amazing. And the people we're meeting doing it.
- 6:42Speaker 1: Yes. And I mean, we're possibly going to go to France, right,
- 6:48Speaker 1: next year?
- 6:49Speaker 4: Possibly, yes. And if you want to go to France
- 6:52Speaker 4: with us, all you have to do is become an
- 6:54Speaker 4: author in our anthology.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Yes, that's right.
- 7:00Speaker 3: So, Francine, I want to thank you so much for
- 7:03Speaker 3: joining me today because I have someone very near and
- 7:08Speaker 3: dear to my heart. You know, when I started on
- 7:13Speaker 3: my journey to doing music differently, I didn't just want
- 7:17Speaker 3: to start and what everyone else was doing. I wanted
- 7:23Speaker 3: to provide the resources and the connections that I felt
- 7:30Speaker 3: I was missing as a young artist. And I wanted
- 7:33Speaker 3: to be able to bring other people up with me.
- 7:37Speaker 3: And I know like there's so many distractions and so
- 7:39Speaker 3: many things going on. And it's so easy just to
- 7:42Speaker 3: be like, just show me what to do. I'll do it,
- 7:46Speaker 3: you know, and everything will be good. You know, we'll
- 7:49Speaker 3: just get it done. We'll all be happy. We'll be
- 7:52Speaker 3: making money.
- 7:53Speaker 1: We'll be successful. It'll be great. But I'm here to
- 7:55Speaker 1: tell you that it doesn't work that way. You're different
- 7:59Speaker 1: from me. Francine's different from me.
- 8:01Speaker 3: And you know, that's very cool because Francine and I
- 8:05Speaker 3: have very different skills and together we become very strong.
- 8:11Speaker 3: And so this whole do music differently thing, one of
- 8:16Speaker 3: the main messages I want you to hear There are
- 8:18Speaker 3: other people out there that have shared big visions to yours.
- 8:24Speaker 3: And you can work together when you realize that you
- 8:27Speaker 3: have different skills. And I am so excited to bring
- 8:31Speaker 3: on Guilherme today and.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Introduce him to you. Guilherme, why don't you come on
- 8:38Speaker 1: out here? Hey, Guilherme.
- 8:41Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 8:42Speaker 3: See, this was the kind of lemons I was talking
- 8:45Speaker 3: about with lemons and lemonade.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:48Speaker 4: Like what happened Tuesday.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Yeah, when we were trying to live stream Tuesday.
- 8:53Speaker 4: Eight minutes into our live stream and poof, there it goes.
- 8:58Speaker 5: Right?
- 8:58Speaker 1: Yes, exactly.
- 9:00Speaker 4: And we tried a couple more times and they didn't
- 9:02Speaker 4: even render.
- 9:03Speaker 3: So Guilherme is from South Brazil.
- 9:08Speaker 1: And he and I.
- 9:09Speaker 3: Were introduced by a lady named Wendy Craft.
- 9:14Speaker 1: She's an awesome, awesome woman. Love her.
- 9:16Speaker 3: She is an amazing mentor to a lot of people.
- 9:21Speaker 3: And so she was talking to Guillerme and she connected
- 9:25Speaker 3: the two of us. And at the time I was
- 9:28Speaker 3: just making this switch. I decided that I really wanted
- 9:33Speaker 3: to take the knowledge that I had learned about emotional
- 9:37Speaker 3: intelligence and business, like a business plan kind of thing. Like,
- 9:43Speaker 3: coaching normal businesses on how to be successful and make money. Well,
- 9:46Speaker 3: what if we applied that to people that were working
- 9:48Speaker 3: in the music industry? Because one of the biggest breakthroughs
- 9:52Speaker 3: that I had while I was working on my own
- 9:55Speaker 3: music was connecting all of the things I was doing,
- 9:58Speaker 3: running someone else's business to, oh my goodness, like this
- 10:04Speaker 3: is the same thing that I'm doing with music, except
- 10:06Speaker 3: music is a product. It's not, you know, the stuff
- 10:09Speaker 3: that I'm selling at the retail store.
- 10:11Speaker 1: It's a song.
- 10:12Speaker 3: And then it even tied into the kinds of things
- 10:16Speaker 3: that I was learning in college where it was like, oh,
- 10:20Speaker 3: when you're selling something, you're actually selling yourself. And then
- 10:24Speaker 3: that got me thinking, well, what am I really selling?
- 10:27Speaker 3: And Francine said it earlier. She talked about.
- 10:30Speaker 1: The inner child.
- 10:32Speaker 3: And that's something that I like to help artists connect
- 10:36Speaker 3: with is who is that inner child? Who were you
- 10:40Speaker 3: before the world had any kind of expectations on your shoulders? Francine,
- 10:45Speaker 3: do you want to talk a little bit more about that?
- 10:47Speaker 4: Wait, our guest is here.
- 10:49Speaker 1: All right, Guilherme, you're here.
- 10:53Speaker 5: I'm back, I'm back here.
- 10:54Speaker 6: I just have a problem with the internet here because
- 10:56Speaker 6: I'm apartment.
- 10:57Speaker 5: What I'm renting here. So it's a pleasure for us
- 11:00Speaker 5: to be here with Mrs. Heiselin.
- 11:03Speaker 6: She has been working with me for more than three years,
- 11:06Speaker 6: three and a half years in the mastermind. She's the
- 11:09Speaker 6: owner of the mastermind back in Jacksonville. So helping musicians
- 11:13Speaker 6: and artists to organize the agenda. We discuss like.
- 11:16Speaker 5: Music production, music industry issues, genres of music.
- 11:19Speaker 6: I am a guitarist, singer, and songwriter for a heavy
- 11:22Speaker 6: thrash metal band called Spiritual Devastation from South Brazil, Santa
- 11:26Speaker 6: Catarina State. And I also have a solo work, a
- 11:31Speaker 6: little bit more commercial, kind of more hard rock influence,
- 11:35Speaker 6: and they're still having. And I'm also a guitar teacher,
- 11:39Speaker 6: a guitar coach here. And teaching some people here in
- 11:42Speaker 6: Brazil to speak English and helping them.
- 11:46Speaker 5: To reach their goals, too.
- 11:47Speaker 6: Like, there's a lot of entrepreneurs and musicians that really
- 11:52Speaker 6: want to, and students who want to speak English, so
- 11:57Speaker 6: I'm helping them with that, too.
- 11:58Speaker 5: So that's what I'm doing.
- 12:00Speaker 6: And I'm planning to go to UK next year to
- 12:02Speaker 6: record and launch my career there in London studio and
- 12:08Speaker 6: take the next step And I'm also a big, big,
- 12:13Speaker 6: huge fan of the U.S. And especially for the culture,
- 12:17Speaker 6: the music, and a lot of great music artists out there.
- 12:20Speaker 6: And it inspired me and myself to play at the
- 12:25Speaker 6: Met on Freshman. And a lot of bands that influenced me,
- 12:27Speaker 6: you know, Metallica, Exit, Testing, even the more commercial stuff
- 12:31Speaker 6: like Vin Haley, of course, and so many others.
- 12:35Speaker 5: And for me, a little bit of the Met too.
- 12:38Speaker 6: Death Leopard, Iron Maid, Saxon, and bit more heavy stuff
- 12:42Speaker 6: so i love music with every genre of music that
- 12:45Speaker 6: actually touched me or now i can see you know
- 12:48Speaker 6: some emotion there some presentation and good music and you
- 12:51Speaker 6: know i'm really hard that i can inspire me to
- 12:54Speaker 6: to pick up the guitar and write songs i also
- 12:57Speaker 6: teach the people here just with the music side but
- 13:00Speaker 6: also with the the language at least you know why
- 13:03Speaker 6: i'm still here so it's a pleasure to be here
- 13:05Speaker 6: with mrs heisling and we have a new single coming
- 13:08Speaker 6: very soon uh i think for Next week, we just
- 13:12Speaker 6: had a delay because of the streaming. Because nowadays, it's
- 13:15Speaker 6: all digital and they're waiting for it. So I was
- 13:18Speaker 6: just talking with our producer here and he's still waiting too.
- 13:22Speaker 6: But I think it's very soon going to be out
- 13:23Speaker 6: there to the world to hear our new single called
- 13:26Speaker 6: Beyond the Edge.
- 13:27Speaker 5: So it's a pleasure.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Well, we're definitely very excited about that. We're going to talk,
- 13:31Speaker 3: we'll remind people about that before the end of the episode.
- 13:34Speaker 5: So.
- 13:35Speaker 3: you decided that we were going to choose to talk
- 13:39Speaker 3: about the rule, success has to be earned through sacrifice.
- 13:43Speaker 3: And what I think is very interesting about your story,
- 13:45Speaker 3: which I can talk a little bit more because we
- 13:47Speaker 3: have known each other for a very long time, is,
- 13:52Speaker 3: you know, metal and thrash, the kind of music that
- 13:55Speaker 3: you're talking about, is not very popular in Brazil.
- 13:59Speaker 5: Yes, yes it is. Yes, yes it is.
- 14:02Speaker 6: Very quick, but You know, at least for me and
- 14:05Speaker 6: my band, it's hard to find gigs and play more
- 14:09Speaker 6: American thrash metal and also the classic heavy metal. Because
- 14:13Speaker 6: the market here is not getting too healthy for metal bands.
- 14:17Speaker 6: But I think America has a great, great crowd for
- 14:21Speaker 6: that because of the hustle.
- 14:22Speaker 5: And especially because of the culture. All those bands came from.
- 14:25Speaker 6: California or New York and some, you know, Wisconsin too
- 14:30Speaker 6: has some good bands coming from there.
- 14:32Speaker 5: And other places, of course, man.
- 14:34Speaker 6: And for me, it was a group of Europe and Spain,
- 14:38Speaker 6: like Basel, the UK, Germany, Sweden, and more.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Now, I think it was like two years ago, you
- 14:46Speaker 3: got the opportunity to join the band that was covering Metallica.
- 14:52Speaker 6: Yes, yes.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Yeah, tell us a little bit more about that.
- 14:55Speaker 5: Let's go, let's go. Metallica, by the way, I'm just
- 14:59Speaker 5: bringing the beat here.
- 15:02Speaker 6: It was a big, big influence in our style, not
- 15:05Speaker 6: just my style, the band's style.
- 15:08Speaker 5: Because it's the one.
- 15:09Speaker 6: Of them, we can go a little bit further out there,
- 15:12Speaker 6: one of the first thrash metal bands that came from California. So,
- 15:18Speaker 6: always them, first the Killin' All record, and lastly the
- 15:22Speaker 6: old school Metallica for me, but the new records too.
- 15:25Speaker 6: And Exodus, Testament, so many others that were a little
- 15:29Speaker 6: bit more heavy. And we got a gig here. It's
- 15:33Speaker 6: a kind of just, it's a tribute band, kind of
- 15:35Speaker 6: cover band. And we are just, everything stopped because of
- 15:39Speaker 6: the COVID stuff. And we stopped the gig. I lost
- 15:43Speaker 6: my drummer and I got a call from a friend saying,
- 15:46Speaker 6: hey man, we have this opportunity to play, I know,
- 15:49Speaker 6: a five days gig in the other state here. Just
- 15:52Speaker 6: Metallica tribute. Are you interested? Let's make it happen. So
- 15:58Speaker 6: after the five shows, this man is a really good man.
- 16:03Speaker 6: Because I'm also an original songwriter, and their sound, the tune,
- 16:09Speaker 6: the tuning stuff, and also the lyric style, it wants
- 16:12Speaker 6: me a lot to write songs and go there and
- 16:15Speaker 6: play heavy metal, thrash metal. And you've got a very,
- 16:18Speaker 6: very big one and a half year just during all Brazil, man.
- 16:23Speaker 6: São Paulo, Santa Catarina State, you know, We were in
- 16:26Speaker 6: the south of Brazil. Argentina, we did Paraguay. It was
- 16:30Speaker 6: like an old-school kind of touring stuff.
- 16:34Speaker 5: Buzz, man. Bring some good stuff. And also, during the gig,
- 16:38Speaker 5: they said, hey, man, we have two more tributes for you.
- 16:41Speaker 5: Guns N' Roses.
- 16:41Speaker 6: We need you to play Slash and Malcolm from AC.
- 16:47Speaker 5: They said, can you make it? So let's go.
- 16:50Speaker 6: So there were shows that were playing, like, three characters
- 16:54Speaker 6: in the same day.
- 16:55Speaker 5: And I'm like, that's it. Flash and Malcolm, the same show.
- 16:59Speaker 6: But it was a big gig, so I needed to
- 17:01Speaker 6: stop because I needed a break to focus on my
- 17:04Speaker 6: original work, too. And the teaching, also, because it'll be
- 17:09Speaker 6: a little bit of a financial step, too, because there's.
- 17:11Speaker 5: A lot of road, man.
- 17:12Speaker 6: I needed to sleep a little bit more and get
- 17:15Speaker 6: a little bit more healthy. And now I'm very happy
- 17:18Speaker 6: with the result here. Really, really good production at the
- 17:22Speaker 6: virtual station.
- 17:23Speaker 5: Just waiting for it. But Metallica, I was there for me.
- 17:25Speaker 5: I was there. We were just here. I was with
- 17:28Speaker 5: my roads here. I was here in France. And just overall,
- 17:30Speaker 5: by the way.
- 17:31Speaker 1: So, Guillermo, let's talk a little bit more.
- 17:34Speaker 3: You were getting to a really good point about, like,
- 17:37Speaker 3: you were kind of reaching that point of burnout.
- 17:40Speaker 1: And, like, we had been, so we meet every week.
- 17:44Speaker 1: And we meet with a group of people.
- 17:45Speaker 3: And everybody that's meeting together, they're all working on their
- 17:50Speaker 3: own music projects.
- 17:51Speaker 5: Yeah, of course.
- 17:53Speaker 3: And they're long-term projects. You know, none of this stuff,
- 17:56Speaker 3: the results are going to happen overnight. So how long
- 17:59Speaker 3: would you say that you were with that band that
- 18:03Speaker 3: you were touring? Was it a year and a half
- 18:05Speaker 3: or two years?
- 18:06Speaker 6: One and a half year. And I'm stopping gigging here.
- 18:08Speaker 6: So I needed to talk a little bit because of
- 18:12Speaker 6: the help stuff. And I couldn't sleep. I needed to
- 18:16Speaker 6: focus on a little bit more in my original work.
- 18:20Speaker 3: So I just want to slow down on this point.
- 18:23Speaker 3: This is something that Francine and I do every week
- 18:26Speaker 3: with the believer treat live stream. It's 30 minutes to
- 18:29Speaker 3: just slow down. Now let's just think about something for
- 18:31Speaker 3: a minute. And we do this too in the three
- 18:34Speaker 3: P mastermind, but what was happening as we were talking
- 18:40Speaker 3: about what he was trying to do is, and, and I, uh,
- 18:46Speaker 3: would like you to, uh, continue this story for me,
- 18:50Speaker 3: Giler me, but you were talking about being out on
- 18:53Speaker 3: the road and how it was, it was difficult for
- 18:57Speaker 3: you to, uh, stay in shape. You were starting to
- 19:01Speaker 3: feel kind of burnt out. And besides that, you didn't
- 19:05Speaker 3: have time to do the teaching, which you love to
- 19:08Speaker 3: do the teaching and you weren't having the time to
- 19:12Speaker 3: create your original stuff.
- 19:13Speaker 1: So even though you were out there, like, let's just
- 19:16Speaker 1: say like live.
- 19:17Speaker 3: In the dream, man, like out on tour, like playing
- 19:21Speaker 3: the most, like most awesome songs like ever. And like,
- 19:25Speaker 3: I saw the pictures of the crowds that you were
- 19:28Speaker 3: playing in front of too. I mean, that was a
- 19:30Speaker 3: super amazing accomplishment and, and you're.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Super duper awesome.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Like tour bus picture, like you, like you had like
- 19:38Speaker 3: an awesome gig going on there, but it, it still
- 19:43Speaker 3: just didn't feel right for you.
- 19:46Speaker 1: So there was something more that we were talking about
- 19:48Speaker 1: every week.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Do you can you talk a little bit more about
- 19:51Speaker 3: like that period of time and what you were thinking about.
- 19:55Speaker 6: Sure it's because uh is we just know kind of
- 19:57Speaker 6: living during the nighttime and i guess there are some
- 20:00Speaker 6: shows that just could sleep like one hour two hours
- 20:03Speaker 6: between the gigs man traveling 10 hours you know traveling
- 20:07Speaker 6: and 12 hours traveling and hitting another city and another
- 20:11Speaker 6: one and going back to.
- 20:12Speaker 5: The hometown, picking up the bus and traveling again.
- 20:14Speaker 6: And so I just reached the point that I couldn't
- 20:19Speaker 6: sleep no more. So I said, man, I need to
- 20:21Speaker 6: stop a little. I would do just a freelance stuff
- 20:23Speaker 6: if you guys are interested in that.
- 20:25Speaker 5: And I need to focus a.
- 20:26Speaker 6: Little bit more on the teaching and the original because
- 20:29Speaker 6: also because of the money making, you cannot stop. When
- 20:32Speaker 6: you're not touring, you need to or teach, you know,
- 20:36Speaker 6: or be a teacher or whatever. or find it on
- 20:38Speaker 6: the other plane, you know, or find a better place
- 20:42Speaker 6: for you to play with your original band. We can
- 20:45Speaker 6: talk about that point very soon here. And so that's
- 20:49Speaker 6: what happened, you know, so I need a break now,
- 20:53Speaker 6: and also to do a little bit of training a
- 20:56Speaker 6: little bit more, and just nod. like but uh yeah
- 21:00Speaker 6: for me it's important to train like aerobics and stuff
- 21:03Speaker 6: like that to keep your singing your healthy well to
- 21:06Speaker 6: to play real life gives me you know so that's
- 21:09Speaker 6: what happened but i played one or two shows now
- 21:12Speaker 6: you're known i think was last month right very good
- 21:16Speaker 6: it was like more of everything like three songs four
- 21:18Speaker 6: songs we just play a fact like or a beer
- 21:21Speaker 6: manifest when a german city german fluency of brazil so
- 21:25Speaker 6: that they.
- 21:26Speaker 5: Have kind of german But it was very cool, man,
- 21:29Speaker 5: because now playing cellophane is.
- 21:30Speaker 6: Not just always a pleasure, but to play it professionally
- 21:33Speaker 6: is very cool. And also because of my girls, I
- 21:37Speaker 6: don't want to be a cover band forever. I need
- 21:40Speaker 6: to create my own riffs, the lyrics, and stuff like that.
- 21:44Speaker 5: So that's what happened.
- 21:47Speaker 6: Then I just reached a nice school here that was
- 21:49Speaker 6: teaching English, because I was not playing gigs anymore. So
- 21:53Speaker 6: the teacher at the school here, by the way, I'm
- 21:56Speaker 6: I'm just quitting site 30 days. And this English teaching
- 22:03Speaker 6: opportunity just appeared for me because, you know, the phones
- 22:06Speaker 6: and stuff like that. And I needed to, when you're
- 22:11Speaker 6: not playing a full-time gig, you find enough stuff.
- 22:15Speaker 5: Concentrate on your own works. And that's what happened.
- 22:18Speaker 6: And I'm also teaching, like, an exportation company here, logistics company,
- 22:22Speaker 6: because they want to, the owner, the founder wants wants
- 22:25Speaker 6: me to teach them the more Americanized English, stuff like that.
- 22:29Speaker 5: And I say, let's go, man. Let's make it happen.
- 22:33Speaker 6: And I was also looking for the opportunity to earn
- 22:39Speaker 6: more money to travel Europe next year to focus on teaching.
- 22:45Speaker 6: And not just teaching, but in the original work, too,
- 22:48Speaker 6: because I have a solo release of platforms out there.
- 22:52Speaker 6: And England is definitely a better cultural place to be, man.
- 22:56Speaker 6: America too, but it has this whole visa stuff, politics now,
- 23:00Speaker 6: and I don't want to touch these. And it would
- 23:02Speaker 6: take so much time. It's too expensive for me. The
- 23:04Speaker 6: UK was like the... I have a friend that lives there.
- 23:07Speaker 6: He's the owner of a studio and he's recording there.
- 23:09Speaker 6: And I studied there back in the days, man. I
- 23:13Speaker 6: think it was three years ago, something like that. It
- 23:16Speaker 6: was just right before I joined.
- 23:18Speaker 5: And then.
- 23:19Speaker 6: Yeah, and then I think I'm planning to go back
- 23:22Speaker 6: to my original work for Europe and the UK.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Which is also some of the things that we talk
- 23:29Speaker 3: about in the Mastermind, because as a musician, you probably
- 23:33Speaker 3: are going to need more than one revenue stream.
- 23:37Speaker 1: So what is it that you can do?
- 23:39Speaker 3: And so one of the things that Guilherme has always
- 23:43Speaker 3: been really passionate about the United.
- 23:45Speaker 1: States, the US and learning English.
- 23:49Speaker 3: And one of the reasons why he joined our community
- 23:52Speaker 3: was so that he could be around other Americans that
- 23:55Speaker 3: were thrown around slang and talking really fast and being
- 23:59Speaker 3: able to develop his English. And that led to an
- 24:04Speaker 3: opportunity where now he can help other people develop their
- 24:09Speaker 3: English so that they can open up other opportunities. And
- 24:13Speaker 3: it plays, you know, we were talking about with Landon
- 24:17Speaker 3: a couple episodes back, like having your plan B support
- 24:20Speaker 3: your plan A. Sometimes like everything that you're doing might
- 24:25Speaker 3: not necessarily be exactly music related, but But, like, one
- 24:30Speaker 3: thing that Guilherme does that's so cool with his English classes.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Is he incorporates music stuff with it.
- 24:38Speaker 3: And we've brainstormed about, like, telling them to practice karaoke
- 24:44Speaker 3: stuff and picking out, like, their favorite songs that are
- 24:46Speaker 3: in English and singing along to them and stuff like that. Guilherme,
- 24:50Speaker 3: how has that been going?
- 24:51Speaker 6: Yeah, I also use music for the students, especially young ones, man,
- 24:55Speaker 6: the teenagers, you know.
- 24:57Speaker 5: For me, it was like the, it's kind of a
- 25:00Speaker 5: point of view about the education.
- 25:02Speaker 6: Instead, because it's easier for you to learn what you're
- 25:05Speaker 6: very interested in. In your teenage years, it's the period
- 25:09Speaker 6: of your life where you have your expectations and, you know,
- 25:14Speaker 6: your desires, your dreams. Some people want to be, you know,
- 25:17Speaker 6: an artist or a musician, or like me, I started
- 25:20Speaker 6: playing gigs and, you know, just, you know, working for
- 25:22Speaker 6: Heavy Metal was like 14 years old, playing live.
- 25:26Speaker 5: Playing live games.
- 25:26Speaker 1: The inner child, Francine.
- 25:29Speaker 5: Yeah. It was 13.
- 25:31Speaker 6: 14 years old, playing at the Metal, Darren, Iron Maiden, Breeze,
- 25:34Speaker 6: and Theo, and Ozzy.
- 25:36Speaker 1: I can just picture you there.
- 25:38Speaker 3: So, Guilherme, we gotta take a quick break, but when
- 25:41Speaker 3: we come back, we are going to wrap up rewriting
- 25:45Speaker 3: this rule that there has to be sacrifice if we're
- 25:48Speaker 3: gonna make it.
- 25:48Speaker 5: Let's go.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Let's make it happen.
- 25:51Speaker 2: You are listening to Do Music Differently on W4WN Radio.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Is your music career feeling unsustainable?
- 26:00Speaker 2: Join Heidsel and Coaching and Music Legacy International for the

- 26:10Speaker 2: Register at heidselandcoaching.com slash rcc-events. You're listening to Do Music
- 26:21Speaker 2: Differently on W4WN Radio.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Hey, everybody. I'm Heislin. I'm back here with my co-host,
- 26:31Speaker 1: Francine Julien, who is.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Also my co-host at the Believe Retreat live every Tuesday
- 26:38Speaker 3: at 4.30 p.m. And I'm also here with my guest,
- 26:42Speaker 3: Guilherme D'Souza.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Did I say that close enough? Did I get your
- 26:48Speaker 1: name right, Guilherme? It took me forever to be able
- 26:51Speaker 1: to say your name at least close to it.
- 26:52Speaker 6: Yes, now you can say Guilherme or, you know, my
- 26:55Speaker 6: artistic name is called G.A.
- 26:57Speaker 5: De Souza. It's more Americanized for me.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Or we like to call you Gil sometimes, you know.
- 27:03Speaker 5: It's okay, it's okay.
- 27:04Speaker 6: It's super easy, like short. It's easier for you guys
- 27:07Speaker 6: to pronounce, man. But you say Guilherme, it's okay for you.
- 27:11Speaker 3: So we were just exploring Guilherme's journey from Brazil to
- 27:18Speaker 3: one day the United States. And he's doing music differently
- 27:23Speaker 3: because he is sticking to what makes him happy. He's
- 27:28Speaker 3: not going to play a different kind of music just
- 27:32Speaker 3: because that's what everyone around him would like to hear.
- 27:35Speaker 1: He's going to stick to what it is.
- 27:37Speaker 3: And it's not even not even accepting a gig that,
- 27:41Speaker 3: you know, he could play all of his favorite songs
- 27:45Speaker 3: like at every show and get paid for it.
- 27:47Speaker 1: It's more than that. It's being able to.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Create the music himself and share those songs with other people,
- 27:56Speaker 3: which has been what we've been exploring lately. And so, Francine,
- 28:04Speaker 3: I just wanted to check in with you.
- 28:07Speaker 1: You've been listening to us for a while.
- 28:09Speaker 3: Is there anything that you can think of that you
- 28:13Speaker 3: want to ask Gilaire May?
- 28:15Speaker 1: There is.
- 28:16Speaker 4: How much belief in yourself did it take to say,
- 28:20Speaker 4: I'm going to do it my way instead of the
- 28:22Speaker 4: way everyone said you should?
- 28:25Speaker 5: Very good question out there.
- 28:28Speaker 6: You need to believe a lot in yourself and your
- 28:30Speaker 6: bandmates and your great objective. And I always, always love
- 28:35Speaker 6: the American music, Wesleyan. One of my goals is to
- 28:39Speaker 6: play a gig in the U.S. and play in a
- 28:41Speaker 6: choir and be a real musician out there. I haven't
- 28:43Speaker 6: met a musician or whatever, a teacher, too. I really
- 28:46Speaker 6: like to teach. But it takes a lot of, I think,
- 28:51Speaker 6: a straight-minded decision and believing in yourself to do it
- 28:57Speaker 6: like that. And I think you have to leave some
- 29:01Speaker 6: things behind and decisions people in your country look to
- 29:03Speaker 6: you like, this is going to grow this. and other things,
- 29:06Speaker 6: but I think that's what it takes, man. Concentration and
- 29:12Speaker 6: discipline and whatever, man.
- 29:14Speaker 5: So I think that's it.
- 29:15Speaker 4: I would love to read about your story in the
- 29:18Speaker 4: Believe Anthology.
- 29:22Speaker 3: You know, that's another great way we can work on
- 29:26Speaker 3: your English skills. We just write a chapter in the
- 29:29Speaker 3: Believe Anthology and we get your.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Story out there for everyone.
- 29:33Speaker 4: We have a French author.
- 29:36Speaker 5: Yeah, of course, man. Well.
- 29:40Speaker 3: is the kind of stuff that I'm trying to bring
- 29:43Speaker 3: out in this show is these kind of stories because
- 29:47Speaker 3: you hear a lot about the popular people in music.
- 29:52Speaker 1: You hear a lot about Taylor Swift.
- 29:55Speaker 3: You hear a lot about the popular people, but There
- 30:00Speaker 3: are a lot of people that are working in music.
- 30:02Speaker 3: They're doing it differently and they're doing it their way.
- 30:06Speaker 3: They're doing it on their terms and they're figuring out
- 30:10Speaker 3: how to make it work, which is one of the
- 30:13Speaker 3: reasons why I really love working with with Guillermo, his
- 30:17Speaker 3: tenacity at sticking to this. And working towards the next
- 30:22Speaker 3: thing has been so inspiring to me. And Guilherme, I
- 30:28Speaker 3: want to give you this time to talk a little
- 30:31Speaker 3: bit more about what you got coming up with that
- 30:34Speaker 3: new song.
- 30:35Speaker 5: Okay, with the band?
- 30:37Speaker 1: Yeah, what's up with the new song? Tell us. Tell
- 30:41Speaker 1: us about Spiritual Devastation.
- 30:43Speaker 5: Let's go, let's go, Elton.
- 30:45Speaker 6: We finished everything, the recordings, the production, with Studio Hill Chorus,
- 30:50Speaker 6: all records in South Brazil, it was a print of
- 30:51Speaker 6: mine too. And it was a very good production, but
- 30:54Speaker 6: we had a delay because the drummer got some problems
- 30:57Speaker 6: with time for the recording.
- 30:59Speaker 5: So we needed to record the drums.
- 31:01Speaker 6: And also the release, because nowadays everything is online, so
- 31:05Speaker 6: we use apps and streaming platforms like Amazon Music, Deezer,
- 31:10Speaker 6: Spotify and more. We released that, it was like October 1st,
- 31:15Speaker 6: and we are waiting for it to come out, I think,
- 31:19Speaker 6: in the next three or four days.
- 31:21Speaker 5: So that's what we are waiting.
- 31:24Speaker 6: But the name of the song is called Beyond the Edge,
- 31:26Speaker 6: you know, and it's a very, you know, it's kind
- 31:30Speaker 6: of a headbanger journey.
- 31:32Speaker 5: Because, you know, I have metal, international music, metal.
- 31:36Speaker 6: Because it's a situation when you are sometimes with no money,
- 31:42Speaker 6: have to just know, you know, for a little or
- 31:44Speaker 6: a few money and stuff like that. And myself, I mean,
- 31:48Speaker 6: I'm living alone and just living my real life.
- 31:52Speaker 5: It helps me with the recording, the video stuff, the
- 31:54Speaker 5: Instagram stuff.
- 31:55Speaker 6: I have a lot of videos and covers and original
- 31:57Speaker 6: riffs and stuff like that and guitar skills. And I
- 32:00Speaker 6: also have problems with the bandmates and fights, you know,
- 32:03Speaker 6: and people laughing in the band and finding new members
- 32:07Speaker 6: and going to the studio, finding money to record and recording,
- 32:10Speaker 6: trying to find gigs and everything. And it's so hard
- 32:14Speaker 6: beyond the air just to talk specifically about that. It's
- 32:20Speaker 6: always a positive thing, okay? I like to negative write
- 32:24Speaker 6: and stuff. But it's kind of more heavy stuff that
- 32:26Speaker 6: I put some other things, elements there for writing.
- 32:29Speaker 5: I have some bands that.
- 32:30Speaker 6: I just don't use and not compliment anybody, but I
- 32:33Speaker 6: have an inspiration myself to write. One of them is
- 32:37Speaker 6: the British department, and of course, the Panthers. They're a big,
- 32:41Speaker 6: huge Panthers fan. They love the songwriting, the styling, and more.
- 32:48Speaker 5: So that's it.
- 32:49Speaker 6: Beyond the Edge is something very simple for all you guys.
- 32:53Speaker 6: We hope you're bringing a very good song and a
- 32:56Speaker 6: very good music for it.
- 32:57Speaker 5: For people that like.
- 32:58Speaker 6: Heavy metal, thrash, and thrift metal, hard rock, I always
- 33:03Speaker 6: wanted to play. Of course, a rock and roll record
- 33:07Speaker 6: was like The Destruction, Tens of Roses, and stuff like that.
- 33:10Speaker 6: But also for me, in my personal life, to reach
- 33:15Speaker 6: the point where you have to choose some kind of decisions,
- 33:18Speaker 6: are you.
- 33:19Speaker 5: Going to stay here, are you going to travel, or
- 33:21Speaker 5: take other.
- 33:24Speaker 6: other way of your life, your bandmates going to join
- 33:28Speaker 6: you or not.
- 33:29Speaker 5: So talk about that, man.
- 33:31Speaker 6: Headbanging is a way of life and how hard it is.
- 33:38Speaker 6: But I think I'm very proud of the situation too
- 33:42Speaker 6: and proud.
- 33:42Speaker 5: Of the new material.
- 33:43Speaker 6: So talk about that and if I can reach other
- 33:46Speaker 6: people and not just you don't write songs just for
- 33:48Speaker 6: you to listen or if you're a band but for
- 33:52Speaker 6: other people too. to be, you know, inspired for E2.
- 33:55Speaker 6: I hope to find artists inspired by my story and
- 33:58Speaker 6: things that I had. Also, you know, the bands, all
- 34:03Speaker 6: situations in 2019, globally like that, no places.
- 34:06Speaker 5: To play, no events and more and stuff.
- 34:10Speaker 6: And then it got inside you because it's the thing
- 34:12Speaker 6: that you want to continue. You want your creation up there.
- 34:16Speaker 6: You're the only original sound right now.
- 34:20Speaker 5: So that's it. Talks about that and I think an
- 34:22Speaker 5: answer for her has been.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Well, and I think you hit the nail on the
- 34:26Speaker 3: head there with talking about getting your story out there
- 34:30Speaker 3: and now being able to take that clarity about what
- 34:34Speaker 3: you know that you want to do and tell other
- 34:37Speaker 3: people so that you are able to find those right
- 34:41Speaker 3: people to collaborate with and create that vision that you're
- 34:46Speaker 3: thinking about. And I wanted to mention that because next
- 34:50Speaker 3: year you are going to the UK. So one of
- 34:52Speaker 3: the things you've been working on is you want to
- 34:55Speaker 3: connect with more bands, more musicians, like-minded to you, heavy
- 35:01Speaker 3: thrash metal.
- 35:02Speaker 5: Of course.
- 35:03Speaker 3: Find Guilherme on Instagram. Guilherme, this is going to be
- 35:07Speaker 3: on podcasts where people aren't going to see it. So
- 35:10Speaker 3: tell everybody what your Instagram is and how they can
- 35:12Speaker 3: connect with you.
- 35:13Speaker 6: You can find me as Guilherme, underline, out of that, eight,
- 35:18Speaker 6: A-L-B-E-R-G-E is Souza with Z.
- 35:24Speaker 5: And just now, you can message me there.
- 35:26Speaker 6: I'm offering guitar classes or also putting the information from
- 35:30Speaker 6: the band. And I use it also to follow other musicians,
- 35:34Speaker 6: other bands, especially for my genre. So you can have
- 35:37Speaker 6: this networking and find some gigs out there. So if
- 35:41Speaker 6: someone is aspiring for it or wishing to have us
- 35:46Speaker 6: playing in some venue, as soon as possible, just drop
- 35:50Speaker 6: me a message. It's going to be a pleasure to,
- 35:52Speaker 6: you know, give a good answer.
- 35:53Speaker 5: So that's it.
- 35:55Speaker 6: Now, we also have the band's page, a new one
- 35:58Speaker 6: that we did a year or so before, to bring
- 36:00Speaker 6: the information, like the release and stuff, the gigs and
- 36:04Speaker 6: all the pricing stuff, too, because we didn't plan.
- 36:07Speaker 5: And that's it.
- 36:08Speaker 6: It's always a pleasure to play music and reach out
- 36:10Speaker 6: to people out there.
- 36:12Speaker 5: And follow other people, because not only is it you,
- 36:14Speaker 5: It's how it works.
- 36:15Speaker 6: You follow them and observe their playing, their tune, their
- 36:20Speaker 6: influences too, and you bring some elements or new or
- 36:24Speaker 6: old ones for your band.
- 36:27Speaker 5: And that's it.
- 36:28Speaker 1: All right. Awesome.
- 36:29Speaker 3: And Francine, did you have any.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Questions for Guilherme to wrap this episode up?
- 36:36Speaker 4: I do. I'm just wondering, did you ever read a
- 36:41Speaker 4: book or find a mentor? who helped inspire you? Because
- 36:47Speaker 4: I see you as a mentor and someone who can
- 36:50Speaker 4: inspire the next generation of singers.
- 36:53Speaker 5: That's great. Thanks for that.
- 36:56Speaker 6: Yes, I have some musicians that inspire me to play.
- 37:00Speaker 6: I have a ton of young people here who are
- 37:03Speaker 6: singing right now. And I always, you know, I watch
- 37:06Speaker 6: a lot of documentaries and interviews from people that are
- 37:08Speaker 6: inspiring me to play.
- 37:09Speaker 5: I was huge. We were saying about Metallica. We're watching
- 37:14Speaker 5: the whole production.
- 37:15Speaker 6: Of the records, Master of Purpose out there and stuff
- 37:18Speaker 6: like that.
- 37:18Speaker 5: Pantera and stuff.
- 37:20Speaker 6: I was very influenced by Philip Tunes. I think he's
- 37:23Speaker 6: an amazing frontman. And his story, too. And the struggles
- 37:27Speaker 6: out there and how tough it is. Definitely for me, too.
- 37:31Speaker 6: And it's sent to another direction. But... For me, too,
- 37:35Speaker 6: the struggles and the grinding road, man, and other things. But,
- 37:41Speaker 6: you know, for me, it was like that, you know,
- 37:42Speaker 6: like documentaries or watching a lot of DVDs, band stories,
- 37:47Speaker 6: their interview, their point of view, their point.
- 37:50Speaker 5: Of view, what it is music, what is culture, what
- 37:52Speaker 5: is heavy metal or hard rock and stuff like that.
- 37:55Speaker 5: And books, too. I have one here in Portuguese from
- 37:58Speaker 5: Tanayami and other things, man, also. And for them, learning.
- 38:03Speaker 6: as far as learning with the struggles and when you're
- 38:05Speaker 6: playing live shows, there's a lot of them and trying
- 38:08Speaker 6: to get inspiring, inspiring element 42 and 42.
- 38:13Speaker 1: So I also, Francine, I see there's, there's some comments here.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Where can people get that plushie behind you? And what
- 38:21Speaker 3: exactly is this plushie's name?
- 38:23Speaker 4: This is Sparkle Feathers and he is my brand ambassador
- 38:27Speaker 4: and the star of all my books. And you can
- 38:29Speaker 4: find him in my books on personalchangewarriors.com. That's my website.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Are they also an audio book or are they just
- 38:39Speaker 3: in physical copies?
- 38:40Speaker 4: Right now, they're just physical copies. It's on my list
- 38:44Speaker 4: of things to do to get them on audio. As
- 38:47Speaker 4: soon as my computer is fixed, this isn't my real computer,
- 38:51Speaker 4: so please forgive me for my video quality. But when
- 38:55Speaker 4: my computer is fixed, I have... a YouTube channel for
- 38:58Speaker 4: the kids called Sparkle Feathers TV. And I read my
- 39:03Speaker 4: books on YouTube for the kids. And I'm going to
- 39:06Speaker 4: put some more content up. And then for my adult book,
- 39:10Speaker 4: it's going to be a Kindle audio book one day.
- 39:13Speaker 4: It's in the works.
- 39:15Speaker 1: Awesome.
- 39:16Speaker 5: Awesome.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Well, thank you, Francine, for being here today. Guillerme, thank
- 39:23Speaker 3: you for being here today. I am so excited to
- 39:27Speaker 3: be working with both of you on these creative journeys.
- 39:34Speaker 3: I had no idea that I would find myself here
- 39:38Speaker 3: while I was doing music differently. So with all that
- 39:43Speaker 3: being said, oh, and I also want to do also
- 39:45Speaker 3: comment here out to the pipe band. He's been posting
- 39:50Speaker 3: the last three episodes. You could win some concert tickets
- 39:54Speaker 3: if you go and subscribe. Gil Airman, you probably want
- 39:59Speaker 3: to do this. Pipe Man, if you're not listening to him,
- 40:03Speaker 3: totally metal show. Yeah, you want to hear it. So anyway,
- 40:10Speaker 3: he's put something in the comments there, so definitely check
- 40:13Speaker 3: that out.
- 40:15Speaker 4: I see another comment ask for my website again. It's personalchangewarriors.com.
- 40:24Speaker 1: Perfect.
- 40:24Speaker 3: Oh, and I should probably also mention that my website's
- 40:28Speaker 3: scrolling at the bottom of the screen, which is heidselincoaching.com, H-E-I-D-Z-A-L-Y-N, coaching.com.
- 40:39Speaker 1: If you go there, you're going to find out more
- 40:41Speaker 1: about the Believe Retreat. This is awesome. a partnership between.
- 40:45Speaker 3: Me and Francine, and we are trying to get your
- 40:49Speaker 3: stories out there, helping you get them told, helping you
- 40:53Speaker 3: get those stories published, because yes, it does help you
- 40:57Speaker 3: do music differently. It helps you do a lot of
- 41:00Speaker 3: things differently when you're able to publish your story and
- 41:03Speaker 3: when you are clear about what your story.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Is and where you're going. And believe it or not,
- 41:11Speaker 1: people do want to hear it.
- 41:13Speaker 3: So, For all of you out there, identify one part
- 41:18Speaker 3: of your music and also one part of something outside
- 41:21Speaker 3: of your music that brings you joy and make sure
- 41:25Speaker 3: that you're setting aside time for it. Make sure that
- 41:29Speaker 3: the plan B that you have in place for your
- 41:32Speaker 3: life isn't stealing time away from those activities, those creative
- 41:37Speaker 3: activities that bring you joy. And definitely take a little
- 41:41Speaker 3: time out. Take a little believe retreat for yourself once
- 41:46Speaker 3: a week just to look a little closer and examine
- 41:50Speaker 3: the rules that you've put in place for yourself. Where
- 41:53Speaker 3: have they come from? Who told you those rules? Why
- 41:56Speaker 3: do you think that's going to help you get to
- 41:59Speaker 3: where you want to go? And if it seems like
- 42:01Speaker 3: it's not matching.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Up, maybe.
- 42:04Speaker 3: It's time for a little rule rewrite. So Francine Guillermet,
- 42:09Speaker 3: thank you so much for helping me tell this rule
- 42:13Speaker 3: rewrite story today. Everybody check these two out. They're totally
- 42:18Speaker 3: awesome people. And in the meantime, consider what rule are
- 42:23Speaker 3: you ready to rewrite?
- 42:25Speaker 2: To do music differently on W4WN radio.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Your next breakthrough could begin with one new rule.
