- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 139! We've been spending a lot of time at the park lately. Lucas: We have. And today we're going to buy another snack there. Luna: Oh, I'm ready. What are we getting? Lucas: A hot dog. In Spanish, that's 'perro caliente.' Let's start with: 'Quiero un perro caliente.' Luna: Quiero un perro caliente. Lucas: Good. 'Quiero' means 'I want,' 'un' means 'a,' and 'perro caliente' is 'hot dog.' So, 'I want a hot dog.' Luna: Quiero un perro caliente. I think I can remember that. Lucas: Then the vendor might ask: '¿Cuánto cuesta?' That's 'How much does it cost?' Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta? I remember that from our ice cream episode. Lucas: Exactly. So you ask: '¿Cuánto cuesta un perro caliente?' Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta un perro caliente? Lucas: Perfect. Now, after they tell you the price, they might ask: '¿Con qué lo quieres?' — 'What do you want on it?' Luna: ¿Con qué lo quieres? That's a new one. Lucas: You can answer: 'Con mostaza, por favor' — 'With mustard, please.' Luna: Con mostaza, por favor. Mustard, got it. Lucas: Then you pay, and they say 'Aquí tienes' — 'Here you go.' Luna: Aquí tienes. And I say 'Gracias.' Lucas: You've got it. Let's role-play. I'm the vendor. You approach. Luna: Quiero un perro caliente, por favor. Lucas: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Luna: Ah, sí, ¿Cuánto cuesta? Lucas: Son tres euros. ¿Con qué lo quieres? Luna: Con mostaza, por favor. Lucas: Aquí tienes. Luna: Gracias. Lucas: Excellent. You just ordered a hot dog in Spanish. Luna: That was fun. Let me try the whole thing again on my own. Quiero un perro caliente. ¿Cuánto cuesta? Con mostaza, por favor. Aquí tienes. Gracias. Lucas: Nailed it. One small correction: 'Aquí tienes' is what the vendor says, not you. Luna: Right, right. So I just say 'Gracias' after they hand it to me. Lucas: Exactly. Now, before we practice a bit more, I want to say something. If episodes like this are helping you make progress with Spanish, Fexingo is only possible because listeners like you support it. Luna: Yeah, we keep the show ad-free, and listener support is a big part of that. Lucas: If you'd like to help, you can buy us a coffee at buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. It's a simple way to say thanks and keep the episodes coming. Luna: Totally. And now back to our hot dog. So, what if I want ketchup too? Lucas: Great question. 'Ketchup' is 'ketchup' in Spanish. So you'd say 'Con mostaza y ketchup, por favor.' Luna: Con mostaza y ketchup, por favor. Lucas: Yes. And if you want only ketchup, 'Con ketchup, por favor.' Luna: Con ketchup, por favor. Lucas: Now let's do another quick role-play. I'll be the vendor, and you want a hot dog with everything. Luna: Okay. Quiero un perro caliente. Lucas: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Luna: Son tres euros. ¿Con qué lo quieres? Lucas: Con mostaza y ketchup, por favor. Luna: Aquí tienes. Lucas: Gracias. Lucas: Perfect. You're ready to order a hot dog at any park. Luna: I feel so prepared. Let's review the phrases one more time? Lucas: Sure. 'Quiero un perro caliente.' Luna: Quiero un perro caliente. Lucas: '¿Cuánto cuesta?' Luna: ¿Cuánto cuesta? Lucas: '¿Con qué lo quieres?' Luna: ¿Con qué lo quieres? Lucas: 'Con mostaza, por favor.' Luna: Con mostaza, por favor. Lucas: 'Aquí tienes.' Luna: Aquí tienes. Lucas: 'Gracias.' Luna: Gracias. Lucas: Great job today, Luna. And listeners, practice these at your local park. We'll be back with another episode soon. Luna: Hasta luego. Lucas: Bye!
