- 0:22Speaker 1: It's time for a segment called What's Your Beef? Presented
- 0:24Speaker 1: by Old Trapper Beef Jerkey. It's something that's on your
- 0:27Speaker 1: chest you just want to get out and on a Wednesday,
- 0:29Speaker 1: have a beef. It's with all the injury experts out
- 0:33Speaker 1: there and online. What do you mean is that even
- 0:35Speaker 1: a professional injury expert? Is that a job title? Well,
- 0:39Speaker 1: there are some actual doctors online who do this type
- 0:41Speaker 1: of stuff. And these aren't the guys I'm talking about.
- 0:43Speaker 1: This isn't targeted them. It's my friends on my fantasy
- 0:46Speaker 1: football text chain. It's the guy whose kid is in
- 0:50Speaker 1: your son's fifth grade class, who all have takes on
- 0:54Speaker 1: injuries in the moment. I want to take you back
- 0:56Speaker 1: to Monday night. It's pouring rain. It's around ten pm
- 0:59Speaker 1: Eastern on the East Coast. I've got the kids in bed,
- 1:02Speaker 1: and I've got Baker and Mahomes going at it, blow
- 1:04Speaker 1: for blow pass or passing what looks like potentially the
- 1:07Speaker 1: game of the year. Chiefs are down seventeen to ten,
- 1:10Speaker 1: and Mahomes does what Mahomes does. He dances, he maneuvers,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and he throws this unorthodox, ill advised, but awesome touch passes.
- 1:19Speaker 1: Samaj p RN, but something's wrong. He goes down, then
- 1:23Speaker 1: he's off to the dreaded blue tent. It's a lower
- 1:26Speaker 1: leg injury. We know that that's fine, and if Lisassalters
- 1:30Speaker 1: wants to come on and give us an update, I'm
- 1:31Speaker 1: willing to listen. But that's when my phone began to light.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Up with texts.
- 1:36Speaker 1: ACL texted my friend Josh, who works as an accountant
- 1:40Speaker 1: in New Jersey.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Ough Achilles.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Done for the year was the text from my college
- 1:47Speaker 1: pal Aaron. Aaron works in marketing. The game went to
- 1:50Speaker 1: commercial Tampa wents three and out and guess who comes
- 1:54Speaker 1: trotting out onto the field after this moment. It's Patrick Mahomes.
- 1:59Speaker 1: And yes he had a slight limp, but the dude
- 2:02Speaker 1: did not miss a snap. And guess what he did.
- 2:05Speaker 1: He marched down the field on a fifteen play drive,
- 2:08Speaker 1: doing Mahomes things and scoring a touchdown. So why does
- 2:12Speaker 1: this anger me? Well, it doesn't really and I'm not angry.
- 2:16Speaker 1: If anything, it's just an observation. Consider this a Larry
- 2:19Speaker 1: Davids style annoyance. More than anything, I just wonder to
- 2:23Speaker 1: everyone who texted someone with the word ACL or oh,
- 2:28Speaker 1: that's an Achilles in the moment. What's the win? What's
- 2:31Speaker 1: the win in speculating on sports injuries? What is the
- 2:34Speaker 1: satisfaction that you get jumping to conclusions on the health
- 2:37Speaker 1: of somebody else, like say, you're right, okay, Well that sucks.
- 2:42Speaker 1: You're not going to get a pat on the back
- 2:43Speaker 1: for being accurate on your assumption. I'm based on the
- 2:46Speaker 1: broadcast copy. And if you're wrong, as everyone was on Monday,
- 2:50Speaker 1: there's really nothing but a bizarre tweet from Monday night,
- 2:54Speaker 1: still sitting in your timeline showing that you're not only
- 2:56Speaker 1: way over your skis, but that you're some terrible down Kyle.
- 3:01Speaker 1: We talk about this all the time, all the time.
- 3:03Speaker 1: The worst form of this is the person on Twitter
- 3:06Speaker 1: with blue check who just rushes to tweet two words
- 3:10Speaker 1: whenever there's a bad injury.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Oh no, that's the tweet. Oh no, you're the worst.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Next time, spare us. You're all in poor and gravitas
- 3:21Speaker 1: of oh no, and stop being doctor. Drake Ramore on Twitter.
- 3:28Speaker 1: This trend, this social media trend of instant medical analysis
- 3:33Speaker 1: by people who are not doctors, is worse than merely
- 3:37Speaker 1: saying not a doctor in real life. When I play
- 3:39Speaker 1: with on TV. This is so much worse. This is
- 3:41Speaker 1: I'm not a doctor in real life. I'm not a
- 3:43Speaker 1: doctor on TV, but I like to pretend one in
- 3:46Speaker 1: the moment on social media because I just need to
- 3:49Speaker 1: have everyone know that I've got my eyes and I
- 3:51Speaker 1: know that injury. There are some great sports doctors out there.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Doctor Neil Ela Trotsch's out in LA is a wizard.
- 3:56Speaker 1: He has rebuilt careers. Doctor Anderson is the best in
- 3:59Speaker 1: his field when it comes to foot injuries. If those
- 4:01Speaker 1: guys want to rush to their phones and tweet seconds
- 4:04Speaker 1: after an injury.
- 4:05Speaker 2: I'll listen.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I have a captive audience, but I don't need the
- 4:08Speaker 1: guy who's got a gambling company sponsored podcast who once
- 4:12Speaker 1: hit a parlay it had a viral tweet about his toast.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Weighing on injuries. I'm good, that's my beef.
- 4:33Speaker 1: All right, loaded, loaded class. This week of rookies, how
- 4:38Speaker 1: do you stack just five of them? The Los Angeles
- 4:41Speaker 1: Rams had about five on defense alone. Who stepped up.
- 4:44Speaker 1: But we're going to do our best to give you
- 4:46Speaker 1: the top five rookies of the week. And if your
- 4:49Speaker 1: guy is not on it, please let us know. It's
- 4:51Speaker 1: part of the story. We do this because we want
- 4:53Speaker 1: to interact and engage with you, the fans. Let's start
- 4:55Speaker 1: off with number five and let's go to Western New
- 4:58Speaker 1: York where the running back Ray Davis makes the list
- 5:00Speaker 1: for the second time this season. Ray Davis now with
- 5:04Speaker 1: a one two duo with Jimbo Cook and was doing
- 5:07Speaker 1: his thing on Sunday against the Dolphins. Davis for the
- 5:12Speaker 1: dad four carries in two catches, but he had the
- 5:15Speaker 1: biggest play of the game. When it happened, It's so
- 5:18Speaker 1: good that I want to see it twice. Can we
- 5:21Speaker 1: go to the call of Ray Davis with the big
- 5:24Speaker 1: tie breaking touchdown on Sunday.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Ellen out of the backfield, Davis room to Rome.
- 5:33Speaker 2: Oh, we got by four.
- 5:36Speaker 4: The broker tackle in there by following he's off to
- 5:39Speaker 4: the Racers and our sixty three yard touchdown catch and run,
- 5:44Speaker 4: and I'm the Bills will recapture the lead.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Ray Davis was a Day three pick and he is
- 5:51Speaker 1: proving to be a game breaker for the Buffalo Bills.
- 5:55Speaker 1: You had him with second round pick. Keyon Coleman. It
- 5:57Speaker 1: looks like Brandon Bean did a pretty good job in
- 5:59Speaker 1: the twenty twenty four NFL Draft. Let's go to number four,
- 6:02Speaker 1: I mentioned the LA Rams. They are loaded with rookie
- 6:05Speaker 1: talon on defense and one of them was absolutely outstanding
- 6:08Speaker 1: throughout the game on Sunday. We know about Jared Verse,
- 6:11Speaker 1: get to know Brandon Fisk. Braden Fisk was dominant in
- 6:16Speaker 1: this game as the big man led all rookies with
- 6:20Speaker 1: two sacks on the afternoon. He wears number fifty five.
- 6:24Speaker 2: He was the second.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Round pick of the Los Angeles Rams. He was college
- 6:29Speaker 1: teammates with Jared Verse at Florida State. They went Florida State,
- 6:32Speaker 1: Florida State. Of course, Fisk is the guy who gets
- 6:36Speaker 1: less headlines, but he has been outstanding this season in
- 6:39Speaker 1: just his first year on the field. Take a look
- 6:41Speaker 1: at this year most quarterback pressures and this is of
- 6:47Speaker 1: any rookies last week and look who are number one
- 6:49Speaker 1: and two both Fisk and Purse. He was a dominant
- 6:54Speaker 1: player and I love that Jared Verse tweeted about how
- 6:57Speaker 1: well Briden Fisk played on Sunday. These guys are going
- 7:00Speaker 1: to be a one to two wrecking ball to deal
- 7:03Speaker 1: with for the NFC West for years to come. Number
- 7:05Speaker 1: three week back to offense and very rarely to I
- 7:09Speaker 1: include a player who played on a losing team. But
- 7:12Speaker 1: when you are your team's entire offense, you make the list.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Drake May, Welcome to the Fab five.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Oh.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Drake May was awesome in the loss against Tennessee. And
- 7:21Speaker 1: by awesome, I mean he was everything for his team
- 7:25Speaker 1: in this game.
- 7:26Speaker 4: May was all.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Over the field doing it just about everything he possibly could.
- 7:32Speaker 1: He had ninety five rushing yards, he had two hundred
- 7:35Speaker 1: and six passing yards, and he became the first Patriots
- 7:39Speaker 1: player with at least two hundred passing yards in ninety
- 7:41Speaker 1: rushing yards in a game since Babe Parilli did it
- 7:45Speaker 1: in nineteen sixty four. Ironically against the Houston Oilers, same franchise.
- 7:49Speaker 1: May has really been fantastic on a terrible offensive squad,
- 7:53Speaker 1: just making it happen. And I thought his Hail Mary
- 7:56Speaker 1: that went about ten yards at the end of the
- 7:58Speaker 1: game was so good that we need to see it again.
- 8:00Speaker 1: This sent the game to overtime. Here is the radio
- 8:03Speaker 1: call of Drake May's touchdown.
- 8:06Speaker 3: Four seconds to go back two steps, looks to the
- 8:09Speaker 3: end zone, he pumps, he backs up, He slides left.
- 8:11Speaker 3: He looks in the left corner. Now he rolls to
- 8:13Speaker 3: his right. He pulls up in the middle of the field.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Drake May alludes a defender running to his left looking
- 8:17Speaker 3: to the end zone, trying to keep the play alive.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Falling down, he throws to the endzone.
- 8:20Speaker 2: It's cuts on it, touchdown.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Hold on.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Ray David said, Oh my god, man, what a play
- 8:27Speaker 2: about me? I told you we're going over time.
- 8:30Speaker 5: So good, so dang good.
- 8:33Speaker 2: He's been so good.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Guys.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Look at this highest percentage of total team yards from
- 8:37Speaker 1: any player.
- 8:38Speaker 2: It's awesome.
- 8:39Speaker 1: You look at the last two times. Look, let's take
- 8:42Speaker 1: the London game against Jacksonville. He was ninety three percent
- 8:45Speaker 1: of the team's total yard. Guys, he accumulated for ninety
- 8:49Speaker 1: five percent of the team's total yards. Drake May, with
- 8:52Speaker 1: very little help, is doing it all in New England.
- 8:56Speaker 1: It's pretty cool because we think the Bears found their
- 8:58Speaker 1: guy at number one, We think the Patriots found their
- 9:00Speaker 1: guy at number three, and we know that the Washington
- 9:03Speaker 1: Commanders found their guy at number two in the and
- 9:06Speaker 1: he's number two. This week, Jaden Daniels won again and
- 9:09Speaker 1: was fantastic. He comes to the number two on our
- 9:11Speaker 1: list for his performance against the Giants. The numbers two
- 9:15Speaker 1: hundred nine passing yards, two touchdowns only through seven incompletes
- 9:19Speaker 1: and random ball third thirty five yards. Guy continues to
- 9:23Speaker 1: play well in big moments. He was also three for
- 9:25Speaker 1: three for ninety one passing yards and a touchdown on
- 9:29Speaker 1: deep passes, meaning he's efficient on these long balls. Here,
- 9:32Speaker 1: this one here to Zike has put the game away. Guys,
- 9:35Speaker 1: he's got seven wins. He's just the eighth player and
- 9:39Speaker 1: third rookie since nineteen fifty with seven wins and one
- 9:44Speaker 1: hundred plus passer rating on the year since nineteen fifty.
- 9:48Speaker 1: This includes guys like Mahomes and Prescott and Roethelsberger and
- 9:51Speaker 1: all these big names about Kurt Warner and Lenny Dawson
- 9:54Speaker 1: in their career years.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Jaden Daniels is doing it also.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Jaden daniels seven to two wins matter to me. This
- 10:00Speaker 1: guy's awesome, but he's not the number one rookie of
- 10:03Speaker 1: the week. Number one rookie of the week. We head
- 10:05Speaker 1: out to the Pacific Northwest, where a third round pick
- 10:07Speaker 1: out of the U was absolutely outstanding when it mattered most.
- 10:12Speaker 1: The number one rookie on the FAB five is ram's
- 10:14Speaker 1: third round pick, safety Cameron Kitchens. Cameron Kitchens had an
- 10:19Speaker 1: early in the game interception of Geno Smith with out here,
- 10:22Speaker 1: which was huge.
- 10:24Speaker 2: This was in the red zone.
- 10:25Speaker 1: But I'd like to go to the call Kenny Albert
- 10:28Speaker 1: Jonathan Vilma for the game changing play of week number nine.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Mister cam Kitchens, welcome to the Fab five.
- 10:38Speaker 5: Good where's Nicoll from the sixth stiff? Can't find a
- 10:42Speaker 5: new walk back pedaling your drives picked off interception of
- 10:46Speaker 5: the episode, have brought back out Jit Old Smith picked
- 10:51Speaker 5: off by Kitchens. Caberon Kitchens takes it all the way back,
- 10:57Speaker 5: the longest interception return in Rams franchise history book.
- 11:02Speaker 1: My good one hundred three yards awesome, hundred three yards. Now,
- 11:07Speaker 1: the tricky thing on that one was who does drop
- 11:10Speaker 1: the ball right for the goal line? But he recovers it,
- 11:11Speaker 1: so we're gonna give it all that. Look at this
- 11:14Speaker 1: guys ever in NFL history, I like that last one.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Four others you don't even get your names edd edred
- 11:19Speaker 1: and the cam Kinschen's be one hundred.
- 11:20Speaker 2: And three yards redid it off?
- 11:22Speaker 1: Kevin kobb It tied for the longest non special teams
- 11:26Speaker 1: touchdown by a rookie all time. The last one to
- 11:29Speaker 1: do it Columbus Tigers rookie Pete Barnum had a one
- 11:33Speaker 1: hundred and three yard pick six and twenty six against
- 11:35Speaker 1: the Kenton Bulldogs. E. T.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Barnum, b T.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Barnum did it. B T. Barnom ran a circus and
- 11:40Speaker 1: ran back touchdown interceptions all the time. Guys, there you
- 11:44Speaker 1: have it, the Fab five. Some interesting names on this list.
- 11:47Speaker 1: I could have included Jared Verus. I could have included
- 11:49Speaker 1: Omar Spates, an undrafted rookie for the Rams who had
- 11:52Speaker 1: the fourth down key stop in overtime. But this is
- 11:56Speaker 1: why I love doing this list. You never know who's
- 11:58Speaker 1: going to make it. And yes, Lad McConkie had a
- 12:00Speaker 1: big day and Marvin Harrison Junior had a big day,
- 12:03Speaker 1: and we could go a million different places, but it's
- 12:05Speaker 1: my list, my list, my order.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Here we go.
