- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back.
- 0:13Speaker 2: What's going on? Everybody? It is Jeff Mosher, Adam Kaplan inside.
- 0:17Speaker 1: The Birds is back and guess what, Adam, somebody else
- 0:20Speaker 1: is back to that's way more important than you and me,
- 0:23Speaker 1: the Eagles fans and Dallas Goddard, who is like the
- 0:26Speaker 1: guy who never goes away. Dallas Goddard will be back
- 0:29Speaker 1: with the Eagles. We'll get into that in this podcast.
- 0:31Speaker 1: We'll get into what that means now for the tight
- 0:34Speaker 1: end room, and then we'll also continue to look at
- 0:37Speaker 1: what the Eagles have done in free agency and what
- 0:39Speaker 1: is still left to do. So good news on that front, Adam.
- 0:43Speaker 1: For two reasons. One with Goddard obviously how he avoids
- 0:47Speaker 1: having to take the massive cap pit if he had
- 0:49Speaker 1: not been here. But I think more importantly, because we
- 0:52Speaker 1: you know, cash and cap we talk about all the time.
- 0:55Speaker 1: I think more importantly, if the Eagles have to line
- 0:57Speaker 1: up and play a game today, they don't.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Have to, but we always talk about the situation of depth.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Right then they can line up and play a game
- 1:04Speaker 1: and feel yeah, good enough with God or there now
- 1:07Speaker 1: they also can do whatever they want now at the position.
- 1:11Speaker 1: As far as for the future, it doesn't mean they
- 1:13Speaker 1: don't draft the guy. It doesn't mean they don't look
- 1:15Speaker 1: to find future tight ends. But with Dallas Goddard in place,
- 1:19Speaker 1: they can line up and play. And they've got their
- 1:21Speaker 1: blocker and Johnny Munt and then another a backup right
- 1:24Speaker 1: in Grank Calcuterry.
- 1:25Speaker 2: They're all right now.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Yeah, so the tight end position is pretty sad, at
- 1:29Speaker 3: least for this season. It's certainly not for the future.
- 1:31Speaker 3: They have nothing after the season. Got it won your deal, Calkutaro,
- 1:34Speaker 3: when you're dear Johnny Mount, when your deal watches on
- 1:36Speaker 3: the fanny years two year deal. So they don't have
- 1:38Speaker 3: anything that pass the season. So obviously if they like
- 1:40Speaker 3: someone at twenty three in the first round, that's where
- 1:44Speaker 3: they're going a tight end. It's just they're not eliminating anything.
- 1:47Speaker 3: It's doesn't solve their future needs, but it sure solves
- 1:49Speaker 3: them this season. Yeah, you're right, they absolutely can line
- 1:52Speaker 3: up a tight end. And that was a big thing.
- 1:55Speaker 3: Getting God who loves being an Eagle, by the way,
- 1:57Speaker 3: he had some interest elsewhere, but like last year, who
- 2:02Speaker 3: was willing to take a pay cup. We don't know
- 2:03Speaker 3: the money yet. He was reduced last year from fifteen
- 2:06Speaker 3: point twenty five million to ten million, still pretty good money,
- 2:09Speaker 3: and he had his best season as an Eagle. We've
- 2:12Speaker 3: been doing the show so long. The first year we
- 2:14Speaker 3: did it, Egles surprise us and drafted Guyart in the
- 2:17Speaker 3: second round when zach Ertz is only twenty seven. I
- 2:20Speaker 3: remember saying, well, zach Ertz isn't going to be here
- 2:22Speaker 3: for his entire career as soon as they did that,
- 2:24Speaker 3: and he wasn't. But this is different. Dallas is now
- 2:27Speaker 3: thirty one years old. How time flies?
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I was just about to say time really does
- 2:32Speaker 1: fly when you bring up that point about when we
- 2:35Speaker 1: first started the podcast. But it also makes me think,
- 2:38Speaker 1: as you just mentioned him being thirty one, coming off
- 2:40Speaker 1: a year which he was a very productive pass catcher,
- 2:44Speaker 1: led the team in touchdown receptions, was used in the
- 2:48Speaker 1: red zone more creatively, had a bunch of red zone touchdowns,
- 2:53Speaker 1: and then even the year before that, he was the
- 2:55Speaker 1: team's leader in the playoffs in receptions and receiving yards.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So he's been a very valuable piece. But at thirty one,
- 3:02Speaker 1: Adam and already just looking at the overall tight end market,
- 3:05Speaker 1: it's been weird this year. You haven't really seen a
- 3:08Speaker 1: ton of big contract.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I do wonder.
- 3:10Speaker 1: What I wonder is his usage for the Eagles now
- 3:13Speaker 1: that they are running a new offense, now that Johnny
- 3:15Speaker 1: Munt is there as a blocking tight end, and since
- 3:19Speaker 1: Dallas did not have his best year as a blocker
- 3:21Speaker 1: last year, I wonder if they can scale back a
- 3:24Speaker 1: little bit on his workload and if they want to
- 3:26Speaker 1: run the ball on first and second haund which we
- 3:28Speaker 1: know that they still want to run the ball often.
- 3:31Speaker 1: If now you'll see not you don't see Dallas out
- 3:35Speaker 1: there all the time like you used to.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Yeah, you could say he wasn't as effective as he
- 3:42Speaker 3: has been as a blocker. That's fine for last season,
- 3:45Speaker 3: but the thing that he was healthy. He only missed
- 3:48Speaker 3: the one game I think with a knee injury. But
- 3:51Speaker 3: they don't because they have a lot to and now
- 3:53Speaker 3: Month Month's only in the NFL for one reason. To block.
- 3:56Speaker 3: You don't have to expose him there. You don't have
- 3:58Speaker 3: to same with Cacutary. You don't have to put him
- 4:00Speaker 3: in situations as much. God it could still block. It's
- 4:03Speaker 3: like he was probably a top five, top seven blocker
- 4:06Speaker 3: at his position for years. So maybe he wasn't as
- 4:09Speaker 3: good last season, but the key is now with two
- 4:12Speaker 3: guys who can block Mont and Latu Huill, but by
- 4:15Speaker 3: the way used correctly. We had pretty significant issues with
- 4:19Speaker 3: the way that they use these guys to block last
- 4:21Speaker 3: season and just the craziness of it. And this is
- 4:24Speaker 3: a true West Coast offense. The tight ends get used, folks,
- 4:28Speaker 3: and god, it could still run. Man he looked good.
- 4:30Speaker 3: I mean he looked good. He was unreal in the
- 4:32Speaker 3: red zone like crazy, Like for years we'd say, why
- 4:34Speaker 3: don't they use him in the red zone? Now that
- 4:36Speaker 3: you over use him, which is a good thing, so
- 4:38Speaker 3: that you have that good I'm just gonna say, I'm
- 4:43Speaker 3: interest to see ha Ryan Mahafey, the new tit Ands coach,
- 4:45Speaker 3: and Manion look at this. I'm really interested to see
- 4:49Speaker 3: how they look at the ten end position because we
- 4:51Speaker 3: don't know. Manyon's never called place before, and this is
- 4:54Speaker 3: the highest ranking job Matthew's had. He's got to run
- 4:57Speaker 3: game coordinator and tight ands coach, so it's different. Now
- 5:00Speaker 3: it's a lot that's going to change her, which is
- 5:02Speaker 3: kind of interesting.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm interested to see, and we'll find out a
- 5:06Speaker 1: little more when Ota is in training camp. Can they
- 5:08Speaker 1: use Goddard and Mont in their twelve personnel when they
- 5:12Speaker 1: want to run the ball and you basically have especially
- 5:15Speaker 1: if you're doing outside zone, you can have Mont as
- 5:17Speaker 1: you're if you're a running right zone, right right lead
- 5:20Speaker 1: blocker on the play side and got it on the backside,
- 5:23Speaker 1: so there's not as much on his plate. But then
- 5:27Speaker 1: next very next down you can have the same personnel
- 5:28Speaker 1: and run play action out of that, and then you
- 5:30Speaker 1: get a nice, nice pass catcher in in Goddard there,
- 5:34Speaker 1: especially if you have the other team still in base defense.
- 5:36Speaker 1: So I think you can creatively use him like they've
- 5:40Speaker 1: been doing and take less of the lead blockers, lead
- 5:43Speaker 1: tight end blocker or best tight end blocker stress off
- 5:46Speaker 1: of him in packages where Month is also on the field,
- 5:49Speaker 1: and you're.
- 5:50Speaker 3: Now just just understand Mont turns thirty two in November.
- 5:54Speaker 3: We're assuming that he's got enough technique, you move well
- 5:57Speaker 3: enough to block. As we learn with what was it
- 6:00Speaker 3: guy's name from two years ago, Usama, Yeah, CJ Usami
- 6:04Speaker 3: couldn't he could move anymore. He just was done right.
- 6:07Speaker 3: So we just have to assume for now that Month
- 6:10Speaker 3: can move. Now. The good thing about Money is he's
- 6:12Speaker 3: an expert at this West Coast offense. How much is
- 6:14Speaker 3: he who was his first head coach, Sean McVay. After that,
- 6:20Speaker 3: he goes to Minnesota, Kevin O'Connell, after that, Liam Cohen.
- 6:22Speaker 3: All three West Coast guys. Now it's with his fourth
- 6:24Speaker 3: West Coast coach, and he knows Manyon from their days
- 6:28Speaker 3: in Minnesota. So he's here for a reason. They're assuming
- 6:32Speaker 3: he looks good. We'll learn more as we go. I
- 6:35Speaker 3: think with Uzama we kind of could tell pretty quickly
- 6:38Speaker 3: because we know what he came in for to be
- 6:40Speaker 3: the the their y tt end, and he wound up
- 6:42Speaker 3: not being that because he couldn't move anymore. But we're
- 6:45Speaker 3: gonna learn pretty earlier on probably know him may during
- 6:47Speaker 3: their OTAs when when everybody's there, what he looks like?
- 6:50Speaker 1: Right, yeah, if he can't, if he's just not the
- 6:52Speaker 1: same player, I think I think you mentioned this last pod.
- 6:55Speaker 1: What then you don't just throw the offense out the
- 6:58Speaker 1: window or make Dallas back into that position. What you
- 7:01Speaker 1: do is you find those guys who get cut down
- 7:04Speaker 1: at the end of camp, the waiver wire guys, and say.
- 7:06Speaker 2: He's cut down because it's a tight.
- 7:08Speaker 1: End who only does one thing, which is block and
- 7:10Speaker 1: this team may have two of those guys, so you
- 7:13Speaker 1: get him there. I would love to see some development honestly,
- 7:16Speaker 1: and you know some of the Eagles out of like
- 7:19Speaker 1: who's the guy we've always at A J. Jenkins who's
- 7:21Speaker 1: two hundred and sixty pounds, you know, and they've been
- 7:24Speaker 1: working on me as a blocker.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Would be great if he sort of made.
- 7:27Speaker 1: These kind of strides and they came out of camp
- 7:29Speaker 1: feeling really good about both.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Of those guys. Yeah, jam Bell's there, and they are
- 7:34Speaker 3: both long shots to make it. Now if the other
- 7:37Speaker 3: four are healthy and performing, then those guys won't make it.
- 7:39Speaker 3: But on your point, boy, it would be nice if
- 7:41Speaker 3: they had one of these guys they've tried to develop
- 7:43Speaker 3: over no more years. Oh you know what. By the way,
- 7:46Speaker 3: now we'll see how Johnny Wilson looks. He's coming off
- 7:48Speaker 3: a majorite knee injury. But if he's here to block,
- 7:52Speaker 3: that's what he does, call him jokingly blocking receiver. But
- 7:54Speaker 3: he's really good at and boy did they miss him
- 7:56Speaker 3: last season? Boy did they miss him. He was a
- 7:59Speaker 3: missing piece to the run game. There's no question about it.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Where it's very important in twenty twenty four, Yeah, that's
- 8:04Speaker 3: the ton end position. But that was good news of
- 8:06Speaker 3: a very interesting week for the Eagles.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Oh yeah, interesting week for sure, and I think it's
- 8:12Speaker 1: still going to get more interesting as we go along,
- 8:15Speaker 1: as the AJ Brown situation remains fluid to say the least.
- 8:19Speaker 1: So let's look at their offensive signings so far. We
- 8:22Speaker 1: talked about Goddard Mount, they brought Brack Calcultara, and of
- 8:25Speaker 1: course they re signed Brandon Mann to a nice contract extension.
- 8:30Speaker 2: He was really good last year.
- 8:31Speaker 1: I know we talked about it already, but I can't like,
- 8:34Speaker 1: especially seeing punters getting paid in free agency. There were
- 8:37Speaker 1: like a decent number of punters that got paid the
- 8:39Speaker 1: last two weeks. But he's really good and he was
- 8:41Speaker 1: sort of invaluable as their offense struggled at him. How
- 8:45Speaker 1: many times did we have a game where we said, man,
- 8:47Speaker 1: if they weren't flipping the field the way they did
- 8:50Speaker 1: with his punts, getting you know, pinning the other team
- 8:52Speaker 1: inside the tanner, maybe even sometimes a twenty, letting the
- 8:56Speaker 1: Eagles defense do the work, then the game could have
- 8:58Speaker 1: totally been different.
- 9:00Speaker 3: Yeah, he'll make about three point five million, which is
- 9:03Speaker 3: a pretty significant raise. He's gonna make three point five
- 9:06Speaker 3: million Perceiven. The total guarantees are seven million for Braidon Man,
- 9:11Speaker 3: and he had a great year. I mean the problem
- 9:13Speaker 3: making the Pro Bowl is there were just he had
- 9:15Speaker 3: Trustway and there was another really good punter, so he
- 9:18Speaker 3: just got kind of jypped. But you kind of understand that.
- 9:20Speaker 3: But he did have a great year. It may not
- 9:22Speaker 3: show because Jake Elli didn't have a good year, but
- 9:24Speaker 3: he's what we're told is he's an excellent holder, just
- 9:28Speaker 3: that Elliott is kind of regressed, you know, Jake Elliott,
- 9:31Speaker 3: by the way, his total cash, his total cash this
- 9:35Speaker 3: season six million. That's a big number, man, for a guy.
- 9:41Speaker 3: If he was Jake to make you wouldn't have to
- 9:43Speaker 3: worry about it. But I mean it's it's a lot
- 9:44Speaker 3: of money. He's Elliott, by the way, is signed through
- 9:47Speaker 3: twenty twenty eight.
- 9:49Speaker 1: Yeah, it's you know, Howie Roseman was very, very insistent
- 9:53Speaker 1: that he's the guy you know at the combine. I mean,
- 9:55Speaker 1: what how he says behind behind the microphone is not
- 9:58Speaker 1: always the same as what he thinks.
- 9:59Speaker 2: But he was pretty crystal clear on it.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Because I've been wondering the same thing for you is
- 10:03Speaker 1: are they gonna ask him to take a pay cut
- 10:04Speaker 1: because he just hasn't been as good.
- 10:07Speaker 2: Can you do that?
- 10:08Speaker 1: Because kickers they're not like tight ends, are not like
- 10:10Speaker 1: other players. I mean, teams want kickers, you know. You
- 10:13Speaker 1: see guys who are struggling, they get cut and then
- 10:16Speaker 1: they get jobs like the next day immediately. So gotta
- 10:19Speaker 1: be careful what you do on a kicker there. But
- 10:21Speaker 1: we'll see, We'll see what happens with him. As far
- 10:23Speaker 1: as defense, right, we talked about the secondary getting Riquel
- 10:27Speaker 1: and then Jonathan Jones, and then the Eagles add a
- 10:30Speaker 1: pass rusher that we have talked about in our preview
- 10:33Speaker 1: series who would be a good fit for the Eagles,
- 10:36Speaker 1: someone they showed interest in when he was coming out
- 10:39Speaker 1: for the draft, and that's Arnold Ebickhetti, the former Falcon
- 10:43Speaker 1: played four years. I struggle with this one, Adam, because
- 10:47Speaker 1: you know I watched it at Penn State. I saw
- 10:49Speaker 1: a lot of ability. He wound up going I think
- 10:52Speaker 1: in the second round to the Falcons.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Right he did. He had it on real like his
- 10:59Speaker 3: numbers for man at Penn State.
- 11:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but then he had this very inconsistent It's
- 11:05Speaker 1: almost like you just keep waiting. It's almost like you
- 11:08Speaker 1: can hear Greg Cosel saying there's there's something in there
- 11:11Speaker 1: in there, you know, like he used to say about
- 11:13Speaker 1: josh Uja, but it just it has not manifested into
- 11:17Speaker 1: a guy who's been consistent. He's very I love the
- 11:20Speaker 1: people who do the tape breakdowns like on on Twitter,
- 11:22Speaker 1: and they as soon as the ego signed Arnold Ebihetty,
- 11:25Speaker 1: you got a bunch of guys like putting out all
- 11:27Speaker 1: these clips of Epiquetty's pass rushers and pressures. Okay, well
- 11:31Speaker 1: why don't you show like ten clips in earl where
- 11:33Speaker 1: he's not getting a pass rush pressure.
- 11:36Speaker 3: I mean, that's what folks have to understand. Someone and
- 11:39Speaker 3: someone in scouting told me, goes the thing you struggle
- 11:42Speaker 3: with Ebiketty to two different coaching staffs. With the Falcons,
- 11:45Speaker 3: did not think he was the starter, right, he was
- 11:48Speaker 3: a he's what he's what you're called, you would call
- 11:50Speaker 3: a DPR designated pass rusher. That's been his entire career.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Technically he started some cases, but they didn't look at
- 11:56Speaker 3: him as a starter. It's why I didn't bring him back.
- 11:58Speaker 3: He's he doesn't solved the problem. This is a nice signing.
- 12:02Speaker 3: This is a depth and competition one. Remember they wanted
- 12:05Speaker 3: Jalen Phillipspeck. They've already told you what they think. They
- 12:08Speaker 3: wanted a big time starter. So they're on the hunt
- 12:10Speaker 3: for one.
- 12:11Speaker 2: I'm not a replacement, thank you, thank you.
- 12:14Speaker 3: He's not rarely still looking. They are still looking at
- 12:17Speaker 3: the Caddie by the way, signing one year deal. So
- 12:20Speaker 3: they're they're looking for a big time starter. Who that
- 12:23Speaker 3: could be. It's not Jonathan Grenard. Another trade, there's no
- 12:27Speaker 3: one out there. Then it's a draft. They would really
- 12:30Speaker 3: like to upgrade that Jaylex Hunt. Boy, did he really
- 12:33Speaker 3: come on? You love his upside. He's not there yet,
- 12:35Speaker 3: He's getting there. Nolan Smith after a rough season and
- 12:39Speaker 3: a half, he really second half of twenty four, actually
- 12:42Speaker 3: three quarters of twenty four, after a terrible training camp
- 12:44Speaker 3: when he was playing with the starters of the last game,
- 12:47Speaker 3: he did like an amazing turnaround. Then he got hurt
- 12:49Speaker 3: again the Super Bowl and last year was just a
- 12:51Speaker 3: quagmar year. He's great against the run. We had other
- 12:54Speaker 3: teams tell us that he's a little bit too aggressive
- 12:55Speaker 3: against the run, goes a little bit a little bit,
- 12:59Speaker 3: but he's not good enough. So the fact that they
- 13:02Speaker 3: wanted Jalen Phillips back tells you all you need to know,
- 13:04Speaker 3: you don't need the guess it was twenty you look
- 13:06Speaker 3: at twenty five million or more. They got beat out
- 13:08Speaker 3: for thirty million. So they're telling you they want a
- 13:09Speaker 3: big time pass rusher. So we'll see what happens.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, and Arnold, I believe signed for less than
- 13:16Speaker 1: ten million. I mean he signed a very modest pass
- 13:18Speaker 1: contract for a pass rusher.
- 13:20Speaker 3: I mean I haven't got his breakdown yet. I want
- 13:23Speaker 3: the full breakdown because you see stuff out there and
- 13:25Speaker 3: you never know what it really is. But right, he's it.
- 13:31Speaker 3: If for some reason they don't get that guy. Let's
- 13:32Speaker 3: say they don't make a trade and the board doesn't
- 13:35Speaker 3: work out for them, they don't get the guy in
- 13:36Speaker 3: the first round, Yeah, then he's competing for he's definitely
- 13:39Speaker 3: going to compete for starting jobs. They don't get that guy,
- 13:41Speaker 3: no question about.
- 13:41Speaker 2: It, right right.
- 13:42Speaker 3: But yeah, it it's if you look at it on
- 13:46Speaker 3: my needs board for the Eagles, it's still a need.
- 13:50Speaker 3: I mean, they they have depth, but they they are Look,
- 13:53Speaker 3: it's always about an upgrade. They don't have that big
- 13:56Speaker 3: time guy.
- 13:58Speaker 1: I mean right now now, Ebiketty is your number three
- 14:01Speaker 1: pass rusher, but only because your top two as you mentioned,
- 14:04Speaker 1: or Hunt and h and Nolan Smith, and your fourth
- 14:07Speaker 1: guy's Jose Ramirez. So I can't see the Egles not
- 14:11Speaker 1: bringing in someone of real cloud or at least trying
- 14:15Speaker 1: trying very hard, whether it's you know, drafter or even
- 14:18Speaker 1: free agency or trade market trademarket really uh, to try
- 14:21Speaker 1: to get somebody who can be your one one a
- 14:25Speaker 1: with Hunt and then smith is comes off the bench,
- 14:28Speaker 1: gives you some reps, and then Ebiketty would be your fourth.
- 14:30Speaker 2: Guy because it's not gonna be Jose Ramirez, you know.
- 14:33Speaker 3: No, he he's developmental guy.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so absolutely.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Yeah, So that that's if you really look at it
- 14:39Speaker 3: right now, Okay, so yeah, on one starts, Jonathan Jones
- 14:43Speaker 3: will be the third corner. He he basically replaces the
- 14:46Speaker 3: Jori Jackson and that what would have been that role.
- 14:49Speaker 3: It's funny they didn't. They weren't sure what to make
- 14:51Speaker 3: of Jackson when they sign him in a little did
- 14:53Speaker 3: we know he'd wind up being a starter. Well, we
- 14:55Speaker 3: kind of know that. I thought they'd add somebody else
- 14:58Speaker 3: to compete, but they didn't. Well, I'm sorry they did Bennett,
- 15:02Speaker 3: but he didn't. He's a non factor. So cornerback it's
- 15:07Speaker 3: still for the future. They have nothing. They it's other
- 15:10Speaker 3: than Mitchell. It's Barren jaccarein Bennett to me, so he's
- 15:16Speaker 3: on the roster. He counts at that position, but he's
- 15:19Speaker 3: not competed. He hasn't competed at all. No, No, he's not.
- 15:22Speaker 3: It's right now at that position. For this season, they're there.
- 15:27Speaker 3: They need one more guy. It's Mitchell, it's Willing, it's Jones,
- 15:31Speaker 3: Ringo doesn't play on defense. Mac Williams was inactive for
- 15:34Speaker 3: most of the season. Bennett got benched, got hurt, then
- 15:38Speaker 3: got benched. They don't have that fourth corner right now
- 15:40Speaker 3: the death. As we've said a thousand times, it's not
- 15:42Speaker 3: about how many players you have, it's about the quality.
- 15:44Speaker 3: They don't have a quality fourth and they're in real trouble.
- 15:47Speaker 3: If if Walner Mitchell can't play, Jones has got to start.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Who's your third you don't have one.
- 15:52Speaker 1: They've been very fortunate the last two years with their
- 15:54Speaker 1: injury situation at corner because they've had they've been thin
- 15:57Speaker 1: as several times over the last four or five years,
- 16:00Speaker 1: but they've managed to keep their corners health. They were
- 16:02Speaker 1: even thinner that second year of Bradberry and.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Sligh. But I mean Bradbury wasn't very good. They didn't
- 16:11Speaker 2: they didn't have anything they could do.
- 16:12Speaker 3: He was.
- 16:12Speaker 2: They're paying them all that money in.
- 16:13Speaker 1: That first year of that deal, but they just they
- 16:15Speaker 1: just didn't have a lot of good backups. I kind
- 16:17Speaker 1: of like the Jones signing. He's a veteran, he's played.
- 16:20Speaker 2: A lot in the in the league. But I agree
- 16:21Speaker 2: with you. I interpreted it as.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Sort of I don't want to call a lack of
- 16:27Speaker 1: belief in Jagorian Bennett. He'll certainly have the opportunity to compete,
- 16:30Speaker 1: and maybe he can get it in year two, but
- 16:33Speaker 1: there's certainly no certainty with Jakorian Bennett, and you would
- 16:36Speaker 1: lean toward they really felt they needed experience and somebody
- 16:39Speaker 1: who can play, as opposed to not knowing what they
- 16:42Speaker 1: have in Jakoorian or not being not being satisfied with
- 16:45Speaker 1: what they had when they traded for him.
- 16:46Speaker 3: In fact, let me tell you how this position looks like.
- 16:49Speaker 3: We'll talk, Well, we're gonna start a draft covered team
- 16:51Speaker 3: about a week or so, but right now, past this season.
- 16:55Speaker 3: It's Q we'll be here for a long time. Jones
- 16:59Speaker 3: is up will AND's Bennett's up. Ring goes up. Well,
- 17:03Speaker 3: he technically is a corner. Mac mcwiams is technically a corner.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Now the question is, yes, Gene may see sometime at corner,
- 17:11Speaker 3: but he's not a full time corner. It's still a
- 17:14Speaker 3: mess for the future. It's they it's another position at
- 17:17Speaker 3: twenty three. It's it's they always say it's the best
- 17:21Speaker 3: player available for a position of need for the future.
- 17:24Speaker 3: They have so many needs for the future, Like they
- 17:26Speaker 3: could get by for the season, but that's not what
- 17:28Speaker 3: you're trying to do. They did Patrick last year and
- 17:30Speaker 3: it didn't work at corner.
- 17:31Speaker 1: It would really benefit them if mac McWilliams in year
- 17:35Speaker 1: two could make a big jump and show that he
- 17:37Speaker 1: can play in this league. But you know, right now,
- 17:40Speaker 1: it's just a guy who didn't play very much. Who
- 17:42Speaker 1: he was a fourth round pick too, wasn't he Yep?
- 17:44Speaker 3: He was, Yeah, he was. I mean now, corner is
- 17:47Speaker 3: way like tight end. It's like at twenty three if
- 17:50Speaker 3: obviously it comes down to who's available. Yeah, he's by
- 17:53Speaker 3: far the best player's position, but it's not a position
- 17:56Speaker 3: of value. You have to look at corner, you have
- 17:58Speaker 3: to look at edge, depending what they do when the
- 17:59Speaker 3: trade market, if they do anything at all, yep, and
- 18:03Speaker 3: then you got Land's potential replacement. They have so many
- 18:05Speaker 3: needs for the future. That's the thing about this for
- 18:07Speaker 3: agency so far. Jaemen films would have answered a big
- 18:10Speaker 3: issue for now in the future, but unfortunately that Panthers.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Jomped yes for thirty cold hard million dollars. All right.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Getting into the free agents that have left the building,
- 18:22Speaker 1: we talked about Sam Howell. Now with Dallas, Sam Howell
- 18:25Speaker 1: is gonna wind up being one of those guys at
- 18:26Speaker 1: him that plays for a different team every year for
- 18:30Speaker 1: fifteen years. He's gonna be the next Jock Josh Johnson.
- 18:33Speaker 1: I believe it because he's on that track already. Uh,
- 18:36Speaker 1: John Dotson, you mentioned to Atlanta. Interestingly, there was a
- 18:41Speaker 1: I forget who had it out there that Mooney who
- 18:43Speaker 1: signed with the Giants, that the Eagles had some interest
- 18:46Speaker 1: in him. That's strange to me, because the Eagles really
- 18:48Speaker 1: need a slot, a vintage archetype.
- 18:52Speaker 3: He runs vertically from the slot. He's not He's like
- 18:56Speaker 3: remember when they tried Quest Watkins's the slot.
- 18:57Speaker 1: What a disaster was Yeah, I know was gonna say,
- 19:00Speaker 1: what do you mean they went to the super Bowl,
- 19:01Speaker 1: but like that he was not because of.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Him, doesn't make it right. Yeah, yeah, it's Jarnold Mooney
- 19:08Speaker 3: was a guy that did pretty well for Chicago with
- 19:11Speaker 3: bad quarterback play, and he went to Atlanta and at
- 19:15Speaker 3: Sosio quarterback play and then it got hurt this past
- 19:17Speaker 3: season and it happened so much. Man, when new GM
- 19:19Speaker 3: comes in, they have no time for this. Like a
- 19:21Speaker 3: guy that didn't produce, you're out. So they cut and
- 19:24Speaker 3: he went to the Giants and Johnson badly a third
- 19:26Speaker 3: receiver they got when he could run. It's a smaller guy.
- 19:29Speaker 3: But when you look at the situation out the number
- 19:33Speaker 3: three receiver, yet another need for the Eagles.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Yes.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Hey, while we're talking, can you bring up.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Because you always have this at your fingertips, the free
- 19:41Speaker 1: agent wide receivers left. Because I'm just curious, are there
- 19:45Speaker 1: your archetype slot like the guys who are perfectly suited
- 19:51Speaker 1: to play the slot and would come in here and
- 19:53Speaker 1: help the Eagles because they got outside.
- 19:57Speaker 3: I have it now. I didn't say there are great selections, No.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Oh, I figured this far into free agency, there aren't.
- 20:03Speaker 3: Yes, well, the money comes down by the we're in
- 20:06Speaker 3: week two, the money comes way down. What Bill Pulling
- 20:08Speaker 3: calls it, You pay Neiman Marcus prices the first few
- 20:11Speaker 3: days you play on finance basement the second one for those.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Adam Field is near the end of his great career.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Christian Kirk Absolutely, he's boy, he's completely falling off. Yes,
- 20:23Speaker 3: Keenan Allen could still play by the way.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Yes, I take all of those three honestly, even at
- 20:28Speaker 1: the tail ends of their career.
- 20:29Speaker 2: They're they're They're just natural slide. They know how to
- 20:32Speaker 2: play the position and get open.
- 20:33Speaker 3: Mm hmm. D Hopkin do it? Hopkins is near the end, man,
- 20:36Speaker 3: he is near the end.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I wouldn't want to.
- 20:39Speaker 1: I know he can play the slot, but I'll always
- 20:41Speaker 1: see him as like an X or an outside guy.
- 20:44Speaker 3: Uhm, Schuster.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Man. You know, I doubt him every year, but he
- 20:50Speaker 2: seems to like produce.
- 20:52Speaker 3: So I.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Did have him or weren't they interested in him at
- 20:57Speaker 2: one point?
- 20:57Speaker 3: It okay. I'm looking at my list of there's about
- 21:03Speaker 3: thirty thirty five receivers out there. They're mostly z's or
- 21:08Speaker 3: or xes and punk kickoff returners like Scottie Miller. Yes,
- 21:16Speaker 3: you can play both insider outside. He's okay, got some
- 21:20Speaker 3: airy quickness.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Look, Keenan Allen had eighty one catches for seven hundred
- 21:25Speaker 2: and seventy.
- 21:26Speaker 3: Yeah, that's less than ten yards a catch. But you
- 21:29Speaker 3: wanted to possession receiver. You got one that's possession numbers
- 21:32Speaker 3: right there.
- 21:33Speaker 2: I don't care if he catches the ball and falls
- 21:34Speaker 2: down every time. Just give me somebody who can play
- 21:36Speaker 2: the slot.
- 21:37Speaker 3: You know it would be him.
- 21:38Speaker 2: You'll be he in this offense. You probably can get him.
- 21:42Speaker 1: And assuming that it takes and that the offense is
- 21:45Speaker 1: what we think, you can probably get him to maybe
- 21:48Speaker 1: ten point three for catches A nine.
- 21:50Speaker 3: Yeah, right right, so that would be so the remaining
- 21:53Speaker 3: needs now on offense. All right, let's see they need
- 21:59Speaker 3: receiver daftup, offensive tackle, right or left tackle. They don't
- 22:02Speaker 3: have the swing tackle fright Johnson's up and a backup guard.
- 22:05Speaker 3: They don't have that guy again, Drew Kendall. It questions
- 22:09Speaker 3: where they could play guard. I know hall Im Pierce
- 22:12Speaker 3: took a smattering of guard reps. He's too big and
- 22:14Speaker 3: plus well I say that Beckton did. But let's not
- 22:18Speaker 3: forget who's not the old line coach chef Staltlin, Right,
- 22:21Speaker 3: So they don't have that. They need two veterans in here.
- 22:24Speaker 3: They need somebody they need.
- 22:25Speaker 2: To I think I think you're right.
- 22:27Speaker 1: I think they need a backup guard and a backup
- 22:30Speaker 1: guard center because we don't.
- 22:32Speaker 2: Know if Drew Kendall is gonna be ready to step
- 22:34Speaker 2: in there and start.
- 22:35Speaker 3: I have this feeling that they're gonna I just have Well,
- 22:39Speaker 3: but you're right, though, the Eagles have a history of
- 22:41Speaker 3: getting guys who have to play two positions. They don't
- 22:43Speaker 3: like to sign one backups this one position guys, right, Matt.
- 22:47Speaker 2: Pryor sign him now, right, sign him now.
- 22:50Speaker 1: If Drew Kendall is what you wanted him to be,
- 22:53Speaker 1: then you can cut this guy, this veteran, and bring
- 22:55Speaker 1: him back on your practice squad.
- 22:57Speaker 2: But you got to have somebody in camp that can
- 22:59Speaker 2: snap ball.
- 23:01Speaker 3: There are a lot of the good thing is there
- 23:03Speaker 3: are a lot of backup center guards out there. Uh yeah,
- 23:08Speaker 3: I'm looking at my list now. The question is when
- 23:09Speaker 3: you're signing a veteran guard who's proven that maybe he
- 23:13Speaker 3: knows he's not a start anymore, he's he willing to
- 23:14Speaker 3: take a veteran minimum deal, you know, m That's the
- 23:18Speaker 3: thing he struggled with. Some of these guys are not
- 23:19Speaker 3: willing to do it. There are so many guards out there,
- 23:22Speaker 3: some not a lot of guys who could play center.
- 23:24Speaker 3: There's some tackle wise. Well, they're not gonna go back
- 23:28Speaker 3: to Kenda Lamb, who didn't retire, by the way, I
- 23:30Speaker 3: remember what people thought he was going to retire and
- 23:32Speaker 3: then he went back to Miami. Yeah.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Now did he have to play at all for them?
- 23:37Speaker 3: I don't remember. I remember. But there are so many
- 23:40Speaker 3: backup swing tackles. Joe no Boom, James Hudson was cut
- 23:42Speaker 3: by the Giants in a bad contract, way too much money. Yeah,
- 23:46Speaker 3: Kelvin Beacham, Cam Robinson's more of a left tackle. Yeah,
- 23:50Speaker 3: Calvin Anderson. I mean George Fan who I've always liked,
- 23:52Speaker 3: has been a good story for m basketball player. I
- 23:54Speaker 3: think at George Mason without looking. Yes, Yeah, there's so
- 23:58Speaker 3: many guys out there. Yeah, there are a ton of them.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Well, the Eagles can get in on that. I mean
- 24:03Speaker 2: they can wait also, but they really Oh.
- 24:05Speaker 3: Yeah, the money is you want to veteran minimum guys
- 24:07Speaker 3: wait too after the draft that they have.
- 24:08Speaker 2: No choice, right right now.
- 24:09Speaker 1: I think they have three guys who can snap the ball.
- 24:12Speaker 1: That would be Cam Jurgens, that would be Juke Kendall,
- 24:16Speaker 1: and it would be Jake Majors. I'm not sure they
- 24:19Speaker 1: have anybody else. Jake Majors who played like thirty six
- 24:22Speaker 1: games at Texas Man.
- 24:26Speaker 3: That is, he has started a game, right.
- 24:29Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, I no, not in the NFL.
- 24:31Speaker 2: I don't think.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Yeah, so so literally literally they have two guys who've
- 24:35Speaker 1: actually played in the NFL.
- 24:37Speaker 2: That can snap the ball. And yeah, it's important to
- 24:39Speaker 2: have depth the veteran.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Yes, and on that depth, Brett Toath would have been it,
- 24:43Speaker 3: but he saw with the Niners, which is interesting. I
- 24:45Speaker 3: don't know if there was a connection to Brett Toath there,
- 24:48Speaker 3: don't know.
- 24:49Speaker 2: That is a good question. Oh he does.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I mean we did say that we we thought he
- 24:54Speaker 1: would fit the new offense better because it's a more
- 24:56Speaker 1: horizontal moving offense and based on athleticism than per se
- 25:01Speaker 1: on road graders, which by the way.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Didnt awesome. It's up on the platform.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Sam Finkel on inside the data, we went through the
- 25:08Speaker 1: combine all the interior offensive linemen, the guard center group,
- 25:12Speaker 1: and how they tested athletically and it really opens up
- 25:15Speaker 1: your mind to what the Eagles might be looking for here,
- 25:18Speaker 1: because we know that a they in the past, the
- 25:20Speaker 1: eagles more prioritized the big, monstrous road graders on the inside.
- 25:26Speaker 1: But with this new offense, kind of think there might
- 25:28Speaker 1: be a philosophical shift to guys who are more athletic.
- 25:31Speaker 1: And there were about five or six guys, especially from
- 25:34Speaker 1: some schools egos like to Draft from Georgia, Iowa like
- 25:38Speaker 1: that that really fit the mold for the kind of
- 25:40Speaker 1: offense they want to run. So if anybody people haven't
- 25:42Speaker 1: listened to it, we did a nice little deep dive
- 25:44Speaker 1: into that. Hey, if you're like me, you're desensitized to

- 28:04Speaker 3: So if you look at the Niners, other than the
- 28:06Speaker 3: great Trent Williams will be a Hall of Famer. Yeah,
- 28:08Speaker 3: Jake Brendel is a Journeyman's their center Pooney who's the
- 28:12Speaker 3: right guard, not the mckivitz who signed an extension is
- 28:15Speaker 3: a fifth round in twenty twenty, and they don't know
- 28:18Speaker 3: who their left guard is. It might be that Connor Colby,
- 28:19Speaker 3: who was there with them last year, was the seventh rounder.
- 28:22Speaker 3: I mean, you look at you just look at it. Look,
- 28:25Speaker 3: these aren't like guys are drafting the first or second round.
- 28:28Speaker 3: It's just on your point, it's they fit a certain
- 28:31Speaker 3: body type and athletic movement, and that's going to be
- 28:34Speaker 3: interesting that this could change. I'm glad you brought this up.
- 28:36Speaker 3: This is something that may really change because they're gonna
- 28:40Speaker 3: draft at some point Lane Johnson's replacement. They barely need
- 28:46Speaker 3: developmental backups. They missed on Trevor Keagan is with the Cowboys.
- 28:51Speaker 3: They need those guys, those guys who can move who
- 28:54Speaker 3: fit this kind of scheme.
- 28:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, think about where Ammanion just came from
- 28:57Speaker 1: with the Packers and what they've done with their offensive line.
- 28:59Speaker 1: The Voice found guys who can play up and down
- 29:02Speaker 1: the line because they're good athletes, you know. I mean,
- 29:04Speaker 1: they're still waiting for Jordan Morgan to become the guy
- 29:07Speaker 1: that they hope he will be, but he's on the
- 29:09Speaker 1: he's on the team. They gave Sean Ryan an extension.
- 29:12Speaker 1: He's played i think center and guard for them. Elton
- 29:15Speaker 1: Jenkins used to play guard, tackle and center for the Packers,
- 29:19Speaker 1: So that that just illustrates the point that you look
- 29:22Speaker 1: for these more of these athletes and these true road graders,
- 29:26Speaker 1: even their left tackle, who is now with Where did
- 29:29Speaker 1: Rashid Walker sign?
- 29:30Speaker 2: He signed with somebody else.
- 29:32Speaker 3: It might have been Carolina. I have to look it up.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that's right. Yeah, he was like a
- 29:36Speaker 2: sixth round pick out of Pennston.
- 29:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, I think it was the seventh round.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I think you're right. He was a seventh rounder.
- 29:42Speaker 2: So and he wound up starting left tackle for them.
- 29:44Speaker 1: So it'll be interesting to see how they address this
- 29:46Speaker 1: position going forward, interior offensive line and what kind of
- 29:49Speaker 1: player that they use. Uh, you want to talk about
- 29:52Speaker 1: other remaining needs here?
- 29:54Speaker 3: All right? So after yes, so after they lost Phillips
- 29:58Speaker 3: Lari and obviously the big one was Phillips. That went
- 30:00Speaker 3: back to the two guys could have left. They lost
- 30:02Speaker 3: teen the lost blanket ship. So now in defense they
- 30:07Speaker 3: the big time edge. They need an upgraded edge cornerback
- 30:10Speaker 3: death we mentioned, and they don't have a set. This
- 30:11Speaker 3: is another one. This is for the future and now
- 30:15Speaker 3: is they need someone to start next to Makoba. They
- 30:17Speaker 3: also need they need they need a number three safety.
- 30:20Speaker 3: They don't have that guy mm hmm. Under Sam projects
- 30:23Speaker 3: to be a fourth Seedey Brown does not play on
- 30:26Speaker 3: defense unless absolutely never, Sarah of liking him to Chris
- 30:29Speaker 3: Maragos special teams only they need two safeties many they
- 30:33Speaker 3: still have a lot of work to do on defense.
- 30:36Speaker 2: When is the last time the Eagles paid like top
- 30:40Speaker 2: market money for a safety?
- 30:42Speaker 3: Malcolm drinkins that I can remember.
- 30:45Speaker 1: And when he so you're talking about when they lured
- 30:47Speaker 1: him away from New Orleans, right, yes, and even then
- 30:50Speaker 1: if that year was the Jarious Bird year where he
- 30:53Speaker 1: made like probably more than Even's on a bargain because
- 30:58Speaker 1: of Jarious Bird, right, you.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Know it's so because the fans, if you remember, we're
- 31:02Speaker 3: up at arms, they went to Jerry's bird and Malcolm checked,
- 31:04Speaker 3: Oh he's a corner, he's moving to safety. How good
- 31:06Speaker 3: is he? Was? Pretty damn good. I don't want to
- 31:08Speaker 3: shoot ball without him, you know, right?
- 31:10Speaker 2: Oh for sure? For sure? Yeah, great player. But and
- 31:13Speaker 2: the year they signed him was at twenty twelve or thirteen.
- 31:16Speaker 2: I've got to go back and look ferteen.
- 31:18Speaker 3: I think I'll double check.
- 31:19Speaker 1: I though it was fourteen, it could be yeah, twenty fourteen.
- 31:23Speaker 1: So we're talking now going on you know, twenty not
- 31:26Speaker 1: twenty twelve years where it's been where the Eagles really
- 31:31Speaker 1: forked out some money for safety, so it's just not
- 31:35Speaker 1: their positional value. They should probably draft here because they need,
- 31:39Speaker 1: you know, even though they drafted mcgogle last year. If
- 31:41Speaker 1: there's a good enough safety on their board day two,
- 31:44Speaker 1: day three or early, you know, you may want to
- 31:45Speaker 1: go even day one. I don't know if somehow the
- 31:47Speaker 1: kid from Ohio State fell to them, which would never happen.
- 31:50Speaker 2: He's obvious down. Yeah, that won't happen.
- 31:54Speaker 3: I mean, top ten. Okay, you could debate that one.
- 31:57Speaker 3: You actually no. You know what's interesting about Malcolm Jenkins
- 31:59Speaker 3: deal his first deal, his second deal was way bigger
- 32:03Speaker 3: with Eagles. His extension off of the first deal that
- 32:04Speaker 3: he signed with him when he signed over from New Orleans.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Did the market really changed though?
- 32:08Speaker 3: Is that what? Right? Yeah? Nine million a year. He's
- 32:13Speaker 3: signed a four year EXTENSI worth nine million. They guaranteed
- 32:15Speaker 3: a ton of money. Guaranteed a ton of money. Yeah boy, yeah,
- 32:18Speaker 3: on your point you just made. Yeah, the market explode,
- 32:20Speaker 3: Holy smokes. But Jerry's bird. For those of you knew
- 32:23Speaker 3: to the Eagles, I know there's some recent fans and
- 32:26Speaker 3: so forth, were some converts from other teams that they like.
- 32:29Speaker 3: Now they don't like them anyway. It's Jerry's Bird was
- 32:33Speaker 3: one of these players that Eagle fans wanted. It was
- 32:36Speaker 3: like you can top five players that Eagles wanted or
- 32:39Speaker 3: fans wanted. Sometimes they're right and sometimes they're not right.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Jerry's Bird never became that player with Buffalo right.
- 32:46Speaker 1: And by the way, that for someone who says, what
- 32:48Speaker 1: about CJ. Gardner Johnson, he got a big deal in
- 32:51Speaker 1: two years ago that was really just a one year
- 32:53Speaker 1: structured deal, which it turned out to be, So yeah,
- 32:57Speaker 1: that was that wasn't a huge top of the market.
- 33:00Speaker 2: It's just very interesting how they don't pay at that position.
- 33:04Speaker 1: But you look at him right now and you say,
- 33:07Speaker 1: if you're not gonna pay, you really got to you
- 33:08Speaker 1: gotta find you gotta be creative here, you gotta stock it.
- 33:12Speaker 1: I remember that they were in the same position twenty
- 33:15Speaker 1: twenty two and that's when they traded for CJ. Gardner
- 33:18Speaker 1: Johnson then converted him into a safety and that really
- 33:21Speaker 1: was huge for them. They went to the super Bowl
- 33:23Speaker 1: that year. So how he how he has been creative
- 33:25Speaker 1: of that position, and we'll see what they do.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Let me let me end it on.
- 33:28Speaker 1: This because I don't think you would say this is
- 33:31Speaker 1: a position where they need depth because they have good bodies,
- 33:36Speaker 1: like they have guys they like.
- 33:38Speaker 2: But I'll just ask you.
- 33:40Speaker 1: You know, Nikobe Dean's gone and Johad Campbell is gonna
- 33:43Speaker 1: be out a little bit here with shoulder surgery, and
- 33:45Speaker 1: it's the second shoulder surgery coming out of college. Even
- 33:48Speaker 1: though they have Trot and Mandan who they like along
- 33:51Speaker 1: with Bond, it makes sense to bring in a veteran
- 33:54Speaker 1: here just in case something happens with Campbell, and you know,
- 33:57Speaker 1: like you get because it's such a buyer's market usually
- 34:00Speaker 1: for linebackers, you can.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Probably find a decent linebacker to oh.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Yeah, oh, because right now you've got Trot you in
- 34:07Speaker 3: your mind that could take the could take the reps
- 34:09Speaker 3: mm hmm. But after that, that's pretty much the chance. Campbell,
- 34:13Speaker 3: who was with Bobby King, their Eagles linebackers coach in Tennessee,
- 34:16Speaker 3: who's got good size, but he has a big injury
- 34:18Speaker 3: history so that he's kind of a non entity. He's
- 34:20Speaker 3: just trying to get reps and see if he could
- 34:22Speaker 3: push for a roster spot. Realistately practice squad, but on
- 34:25Speaker 3: your point. It would be nice to have experience because Campbell,
- 34:31Speaker 3: you're not gonna probably see him. It sounds like until
- 34:33Speaker 3: training camp back to back years with shoulder surgery, you
- 34:36Speaker 3: also had a knee problem that teams are concerned about.
- 34:39Speaker 3: But both do we we don't know if but it's
- 34:42Speaker 3: is it the same shoulder at surgery on or both?
- 34:44Speaker 1: Is it the other one thought it was the different
- 34:45Speaker 1: schol Let's make sure we find that out before the
- 34:47Speaker 1: next part.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Yeah, so yeah, for by training camp again, nothing that
- 34:53Speaker 3: matters until training camp, Yeah, it would. It's really gonna
- 34:57Speaker 3: come down to what they think of where he's at,
- 35:00Speaker 3: where Campbell's adden, because all all he could do is
- 35:03Speaker 3: take metal reps, right, you know, right? But you remember,
- 35:07Speaker 3: by the way, he signed a monster deal with the Saints.
- 35:11Speaker 3: He left Buffalo signed a monster deal. It was worth
- 35:16Speaker 3: nine million a year. It doesn't sound like much now,
- 35:18Speaker 3: but back in twenty fourteen it was groundbreaking. And the
- 35:22Speaker 3: guarantee it's signing. They basically guaranteed three years, which was
- 35:27Speaker 3: unheard of back then because there was such a race
- 35:29Speaker 3: for him. But a bad player, but he never lived
- 35:31Speaker 3: up to the hype.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Never, right, No, not at all, not at all.
- 35:34Speaker 1: So we we agree the Eagles should just go sign
- 35:36Speaker 1: a veteran linebacker like Nick Morrow.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Go ahead, go sign him. I'm sure, I'm just kidding.
- 35:41Speaker 3: I don't think, by the way, I don't think he
- 35:42Speaker 3: played last season.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Wasn't he on the practice squad for like the Bills
- 35:46Speaker 2: or somebody. I thought maybe he was on somebody.
- 35:48Speaker 3: He was at one, but I don't think he's actually
- 35:49Speaker 3: playing a game.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Yeah, he will be legendary for signing with the Eagles
- 35:53Speaker 1: on the first day of the negotiating period for zero
- 35:57Speaker 1: upfront dollars.
- 35:58Speaker 3: And then I'll never forget your reaction to we. I
- 36:01Speaker 3: was like, hey, I got his contract terms, I said,
- 36:03Speaker 3: and I think I said, guess how much guaranteed money
- 36:05Speaker 3: you got? And I think I might have said four
- 36:09Speaker 3: times nope, nope, nope. Yeah, you missed it. He didn't
- 36:12Speaker 3: get any. You were like, I didn't believe you.
- 36:15Speaker 2: I thought it was a mistake.
- 36:17Speaker 3: I said, I'm telling you, he's not getting it.
- 36:20Speaker 1: And you know what, honestly, I mean, listen, I don't
- 36:23Speaker 1: talk bad about agents, but he wound up being a
- 36:24Speaker 1: starter for the Eagles that year with no guaranteed money.
- 36:27Speaker 3: That's that's thing, is he had no leverage. But when
- 36:34Speaker 3: you're signing for you're just looking for a job. Who knew,
- 36:36Speaker 3: But did he know he's going to start?
- 36:39Speaker 2: Man crazy?
- 36:40Speaker 1: I don't know, Because the Eagles went into that year
- 36:43Speaker 1: with Nikobe that was year two in Nacobe Dean, so
- 36:45Speaker 1: they knew he was going to be a starter, but
- 36:47Speaker 1: they didn't really have a Remember, they signed Cunningham and
- 36:51Speaker 1: Miles Jack in the middle of camp because they were
- 36:54Speaker 1: realizing that they just weren't going to be good enough
- 36:57Speaker 1: with Nick Morro and with uh Nikobe Dean as their
- 37:00Speaker 1: tow linebackers. And then Jack retires two weeks later, and
- 37:04Speaker 1: then Cunningham winds up playing like sort of like their
- 37:06Speaker 1: second best linebacker all year, and then Nikobe got hurt,
- 37:09Speaker 1: so it had to be Moro and Zach Cunningham. You
- 37:12Speaker 1: want to know why the twenty twenty three team collapsed
- 37:15Speaker 1: on top of the bad coaching issues that they had
- 37:17Speaker 1: with to sign with Patricia Man, You can look right
- 37:20Speaker 1: there and I'm sure how he has probably said to
- 37:22Speaker 1: himself after the year, I'll never let.
- 37:24Speaker 2: That happen again. That bad at like that was.
- 37:26Speaker 3: I mean, it's really remarkable what this happened at this
- 37:29Speaker 3: inside backer position, as Fangio calls it, something we've not
- 37:32Speaker 3: seen in the history of our show, where they're actually
- 37:34Speaker 3: dominant the position. Even trot junior and limited times look good.
- 37:37Speaker 3: We know behind the scenes he's the very happy with him.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Modern's got lensed. I know he's only been a special
- 37:42Speaker 3: teams player, but it sound like they don't have anyone
- 37:44Speaker 3: that they could take a look at. That's the point
- 37:46Speaker 3: so right now to assess their remaining needs both sides
- 37:51Speaker 3: of the football. Receiver DAP and obviously the aj Brown
- 37:54Speaker 3: thing is my understanding has been from day one, and
- 37:57Speaker 3: especially lately, you goes have to lower their asking. So
- 38:00Speaker 3: he's not going to go to New England. I'm not
- 38:01Speaker 3: rolling it out closer to the draft, but you know,
- 38:04Speaker 3: the Eagles really don't want to take that major capit.
- 38:07Speaker 3: If they could take the capet now, they could take
- 38:09Speaker 3: a June first, but after June first, post June one designation,
- 38:12Speaker 3: that's when you get your relief. So the problem is
- 38:14Speaker 3: if you if you take it, even on doing the draft,
- 38:18Speaker 3: you have to hold the major capit through June first. Yeah,
- 38:22Speaker 3: and that's the problem about getting taxed with that. That's
- 38:25Speaker 3: a problem. But overall, no matter what happens, they have
- 38:28Speaker 3: no depth. We like Darius Cooper a lot, but they
- 38:31Speaker 3: need they need competition. They're gonna they're going to bring
- 38:34Speaker 3: them in. We mentioned the backup tackles, right left tackle,
- 38:37Speaker 3: swing tackle, backup guard. They don't have it up upgraded
- 38:41Speaker 3: edge cornerback depth and starting safety, backup safety. But hey,
- 38:46Speaker 3: but you know what we're We're in March sixteenth, We're
- 38:48Speaker 3: not on August sixteenth.
- 38:49Speaker 2: So that's great, absolutely, all right, good stuff. I'm sure
- 38:53Speaker 2: I have a feeling at them. It's going to be
- 38:55Speaker 2: an interesting week coming up for the Eagles. You knowlet
- 38:58Speaker 2: not done. I think the trademark kid's gonna heat up,
- 39:00Speaker 2: not just for a J. Brown. We talked about edge
- 39:02Speaker 2: rushers and everything like that.
- 39:04Speaker 1: I think that there'll be some moves and we'll be
- 39:06Speaker 1: on top of them all like we always are.
- 39:08Speaker 2: That's gonna do it.
