Transcript
- Lucas: Hey, welcome back to Learn Amharic with Fexingo! I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Ready for another tiny lesson? Lucas: Absolutely. So last time we learned head and foot. Today, let's learn two more body parts: hand and eye. Luna: Oh, useful! I use my hands and eyes all the time. Lucas: Right. So, the word for hand is እጅ. Say it with me: እጅ. Luna: እጅ. Lucas: Good. And eye is ዓይን. Repeat: ዓይን. Luna: ዓይን. Lucas: Now, to say 'my hand', you add the suffix -e. So እጅ plus እ becomes እጄ. My hand. Try it. Luna: እጄ. Lucas: Exactly. And 'my eye' is ዓይኔ. Say it. Luna: ዓይኔ. Lucas: Great. Let's use them in a tiny scene. Imagine you're pointing at your hand. You can say: ይህ እጄ ነው. That means 'this is my hand'. Luna: ይህ እጄ ነው. Lucas: Perfect. Now point at your eye: ይህ ዓይኔ ነው. This is my eye. Luna: ይህ ዓይኔ ነው. Lucas: You're a natural. So, let's do a quick review. Hand? Luna: እጅ. Lucas: Eye? Luna: ዓይን. Lucas: My hand? Luna: እጄ. Lucas: My eye? Luna: ዓይኔ. Lucas: Awesome. Now, remember from last episode we learned head, ራስ, and foot, እግር. So you can say እጄ እና ዓይኔ — my hand and my eye. Luna: That's a good combo. Lucas: Yes. And if you want to ask someone else, you can say: ይህ እጅህ ነው? Is this your hand? But we'll save possessives for another day. Luna: Ooh, looking forward to that. Lucas: For now, practice these four phrases. Say them to yourself: እጅ, ዓይን, እጄ, ዓይኔ. Luna: እጅ, ዓይን, እጄ, ዓይኔ. Lucas: Perfect. That's all for today. Thanks for learning with Fexingo. Luna: See you next time! Keep practicing.
