Transcript
- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome to the twenty twenty six Patriots Unfiltered Draft Show,
- 0:08Speaker 1: the New England Patriots Slade, presented by Toyota's official website
- 0:12Speaker 1: for deals by a Toyota dot Com.
- 0:16Speaker 2: All right, welcome to the twenty twenty six Patriots Unfiltered
- 0:22Speaker 2: Draft Extravaganza. We are live at Jillette Stadium, underneath where
- 0:29Speaker 2: the Draft party is taking part, adjacent to where the
- 0:33Speaker 2: Patriots War Room is in the new facility, right across
- 0:37Speaker 2: the parking lot. So there's a lot going on here
- 0:39Speaker 2: at Jellette Stadium, but we will be bringing you all
- 0:43Speaker 2: the action for I don't know, four hours, however long
- 0:47Speaker 2: this thing goes tonight, we'll be here.
- 0:50Speaker 3: We'll be here.
- 0:52Speaker 4: It's myself, Frek Kersh.
- 0:53Speaker 2: It's Paul Parrilla, It's Evan Lazarre, it's Mike do So,
- 0:57Speaker 2: It's Alex and Matt in the booth. And like I
- 0:59Speaker 2: said said, we're going to be here until the conclusion
- 1:02Speaker 2: of the first round and maybe a little beyond that.
- 1:05Speaker 2: But we've got a lot going on this first hour
- 1:07Speaker 2: before the draft actually starts. We've got the Draft party
- 1:11Speaker 2: going on up in one of the clubs here, and
- 1:14Speaker 2: we'll give a sneak peek into that because from what
- 1:16Speaker 2: we are told, Robert Kraft will be addressing the crowd there,
- 1:20Speaker 2: Mike Rabel will be addressing the crowd, and as the
- 1:23Speaker 2: Patriots have announced, at around seven twenty seven thirty from
- 1:27Speaker 2: the media workroom, Mike Rabel will be addressing the media
- 1:32Speaker 2: about his situation. I'm sure he'll have an opening statement
- 1:37Speaker 2: and he will be taking questions. So it'll be more
- 1:40Speaker 2: or less a press conference with Mike Rabel. So we'll
- 1:43Speaker 2: bring that to you live here on the Draft Show.
- 1:46Speaker 2: So there's a lot going on besides draft picks right
- 1:50Speaker 2: here at Jillette Stadium. And as you know, the Patriots
- 1:53Speaker 2: hold the thirty first pick, which we think could happen
- 1:56Speaker 2: or if they have it around.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Ten thirty tens around that's the projection.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Yeah, So will they trade up, will they trade back,
- 2:04Speaker 2: will they stay put make the pick? We hear rumors
- 2:07Speaker 2: of trades maybe in the air, so that could mean
- 2:11Speaker 2: moving back or up. Who knows. So there is a
- 2:13Speaker 2: little bit of intrigue around the Patriots and it'll be
- 2:17Speaker 2: interesting to see, you know, what the other losers in
- 2:19Speaker 2: the league choose.
- 2:21Speaker 3: That, you know, especially the Jets of a couple of picks.
- 2:23Speaker 5: But I just say real quick, fred, I was walking
- 2:25Speaker 5: down here after my dinner with my birthday for my
- 2:28Speaker 5: wife as a birthday congratulations to her, shoutout. But huge line,
- 2:32Speaker 5: huge line. I mean great, you know, great energy from
- 2:34Speaker 5: the Patriots fans. It was great to see.
- 2:36Speaker 3: You know, it's been a while.
- 2:37Speaker 5: I think it's probably been since the send off rally
- 2:39Speaker 5: that we saw you know, a real massive Patriots fans here.
- 2:42Speaker 5: So it was really cool to just see everybody lined up, excited,
- 2:45Speaker 5: lots of jerseys everything. It's the excited yeah, no, it was.
- 2:48Speaker 5: It was you know, it looked like a you know,
- 2:50Speaker 5: rowdy crowd. They're kind of because I was trying to
- 2:52Speaker 5: cut through and one of the guys like, get back
- 2:54Speaker 5: in the back.
- 2:54Speaker 3: I'm like, I'm going through, buddy, don't worry about it.
- 2:56Speaker 3: So but it seemed like good energy and upstairs I
- 2:59Speaker 3: am yeah right, I know, I was walking through being
- 3:02Speaker 3: like anyone, Yeah, yeah, I don't know nothing. No.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Well, I mean you have to be a diehard fan
- 3:06Speaker 2: to come to a draft party where your team has
- 3:08Speaker 2: the thirty first pick, because you know it's going to
- 3:11Speaker 2: be a long night and it may end up with
- 3:15Speaker 2: not even making a pick.
- 3:16Speaker 4: So you're here because you are a fan.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Well, I think Evan and I got to lean on
- 3:20Speaker 3: you guys.
- 3:20Speaker 5: You know what it's like to pick down at the
- 3:22Speaker 5: bottom of the draft, Like we're like usually like draft starts, boom,
- 3:25Speaker 5: we got a guy. We're talking about the guy, and
- 3:28Speaker 5: now we're just gonna watch watch the parade go by.
- 3:30Speaker 5: What's it like, Paul, you've been, you've been. You've been
- 3:32Speaker 5: picking thirty seconds even.
- 3:33Speaker 3: A couple of times. Strange. When was that pick twenty
- 3:36Speaker 3: two was my twenties. I just had to bring that up.
- 3:41Speaker 4: It get interesting because you didn't like that.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Or we all have our guys that we think might
- 3:48Speaker 2: be available at thirty one. So the game that we
- 3:51Speaker 2: play is as these guys get knocked off the board,
- 3:55Speaker 2: who's remaining? Is your guys still there? And as you
- 3:58Speaker 2: get closer and closer you kind of get a little excited.
- 4:01Speaker 5: You know, I wonder if I have a guy this year, though, Fred,
- 4:03Speaker 5: that's well we should all, you know, we should.
- 4:06Speaker 6: My cue from you, Fred, I just don't have a
- 4:08Speaker 6: bang the table guy.
- 4:10Speaker 3: I haven't had one either.
- 4:11Speaker 6: I mean, Cassius Howell was probably my one guy that
- 4:14Speaker 6: I'm like I probably I probably most associated with the podium,
- 4:18Speaker 6: but I have no idea.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Oh, let's go.
- 4:21Speaker 4: To the podium at the draft party Boston.
- 4:30Speaker 7: I want to tell you what a thrill it is
- 4:32Speaker 7: for me to be up here tonight and see all
- 4:35Speaker 7: of you. I thought we'd get a warmer response though,
- 4:43Speaker 7: that's that's the fan base I know. I'll tell you
- 4:49Speaker 7: when I come here. I was thinking, you know, this
- 4:53Speaker 7: is the beginning of our family's thirty third season. And
- 5:01Speaker 7: you know when we bought the team, we've been in
- 5:04Speaker 7: business thirty four years and they never sold out, and
- 5:08Speaker 7: within ninety days of our family buying the team, you
- 5:12Speaker 7: all came out and that first season we were sold out,
- 5:17Speaker 7: and you've been with us ever since. And the passion
- 5:23Speaker 7: that you all bring to it and supporting us. I
- 5:28Speaker 7: know my son Danny's office looks out where you started
- 5:33Speaker 7: lining up before noontime today and that gets us all
- 5:39Speaker 7: so excited, and we thank you for that. And you
- 5:45Speaker 7: know being here now, there's nothing that we feel helps
- 5:53Speaker 7: bring a community together than sports teams, and we've been
- 5:59Speaker 7: privileged to be able to do that here and our
- 6:03Speaker 7: season starting tonight. You know, it's tough drafting in the
- 6:11Speaker 7: thirty one position. But there are thirty other teams the
- 6:16Speaker 7: wish that they could have done that.
- 6:22Speaker 4: And the only thing I'll say is.
- 6:25Speaker 7: I wish that for the rest of my life. We're
- 6:29Speaker 7: drafting at number thirty two, and with your support, I
- 6:35Speaker 7: believe we can make that happen. Now, I want to say,
- 6:39Speaker 7: it's my pleasure to introduce someone who's been a player.
- 6:46Speaker 7: He was a player for US for nine years, won
- 6:51Speaker 7: three Super Bowls while he played for US, and then
- 6:56Speaker 7: he joined US as a new boy and coached last
- 7:01Speaker 7: year and took us to the Super Bowl.
- 7:04Speaker 3: A man who.
- 7:06Speaker 7: A man who has our families full support.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Mike graybo thank you, Thank you, Robert, thank you fans.
- 7:26Speaker 3: When we got here a year ago, we wanted to bring.
- 7:29Speaker 8: A product that you guys would be proud of. You
- 7:32Speaker 8: guys are used to winners. Robert and Jonathan, they put
- 7:36Speaker 8: winners on the field, and that's what you guys are
- 7:38Speaker 8: used to, and that's what we talked about bringing back.
- 7:41Speaker 8: We partnered with some great people. We have great players,
- 7:46Speaker 8: but our fans are the ones that get us through.
- 7:49Speaker 8: You guys came. Thank you so much.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Listen to.
- 7:55Speaker 8: The support that you've shown our football team. Our organization personally,
- 8:01Speaker 8: I thank you. Our fans feed off of you. The
- 8:06Speaker 8: playoff atmosphere. We talked about winning the division. We talked
- 8:09Speaker 8: about hosting home playoff games so that you guys can
- 8:12Speaker 8: make an impact in the game, just like you did
- 8:15Speaker 8: against the Chargers against the Texans. And then we had
- 8:19Speaker 8: to go on the road, and you guys traveled. You
- 8:20Speaker 8: traveled all year, and I know that's not easy. That's
- 8:24Speaker 8: a commitment that you make for us and for our players.
- 8:28Speaker 3: I am grateful for our football team.
- 8:29Speaker 8: We have amazing men that are on our team, and
- 8:35Speaker 8: without them, none of our success as possible. This is
- 8:39Speaker 8: about the players. We have a great staff that coaches
- 8:42Speaker 8: and teaches and develops, and I want to thank Elliott.
- 8:46Speaker 3: I want to thank Elliott and his staff. This is
- 8:47Speaker 3: a night for them. Thank you Elliott. We came together
- 8:51Speaker 3: last year.
- 8:54Speaker 9: Pretty quickly, and we were excited about the draft and
- 8:58Speaker 9: a lot of those guys helped us and they're gonna
- 9:00Speaker 9: continue to help us in the future, and we have
- 9:02Speaker 9: to do that tonight. The draft is the lifeblood of
- 9:05Speaker 9: the organization in the National Football League, and we were
- 9:10Speaker 9: excited these guys have done. He has got a great
- 9:13Speaker 9: staff they did a lot of work, a lot of
- 9:16Speaker 9: hard work. We're prepared for the night, we're excited for
- 9:19Speaker 9: the night, We're excited for the rest of the draft.
- 9:22Speaker 9: And I want to thank you guys again for.
- 9:24Speaker 8: Supporting our football team and being there for us when
- 9:27Speaker 8: we need Jim.
- 9:28Speaker 3: So yet, thank you so much.
- 9:34Speaker 8: But there's a lot of facets to this, and obviously
- 9:37Speaker 8: the other facet is the personnel and our scouting department,
- 9:42Speaker 8: and that's led by our general manager Elliott wolf.
- 9:56Speaker 10: Well. Thank you.
- 9:57Speaker 11: Just wanting to echo some of the things.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Thank you coach Forraybold.
- 10:00Speaker 12: It's just a pleasure and a privilege every day coming here,
- 10:05Speaker 12: working with Mike and his staff, with the scouting department.
- 10:08Speaker 12: A lot of like he said, a lot of people
- 10:09Speaker 12: put in a ton of work. I wanted to thank
- 10:11Speaker 12: Robert Jonathan Craft. The new building that we have is remarkable.
- 10:16Speaker 12: I wish we could take it toward you guys could
- 10:18Speaker 12: all go see it. But the new draft room is unbelievable,
- 10:21Speaker 12: the technology that we have in there. It's just an
- 10:23Speaker 12: incredible working space and we're excited to be able to
- 10:26Speaker 12: continue to add great players.
- 10:27Speaker 3: To the team.
- 10:28Speaker 12: And thank you to the fans. We couldn't do it
- 10:30Speaker 12: without you, like Mike said, and we're just really excited
- 10:33Speaker 12: for this process to culminate tonight and over the weekend,
- 10:36Speaker 12: adding some great players to our team.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Thank you, Mari, Patriots fans, thank you.
- 10:48Speaker 2: All Right, So that's a little sneak peek up at
- 10:50Speaker 2: the party. That's what's going on there. And just a reminder,
- 10:54Speaker 2: probably in about ten to fifteen minutes, maybe twenty from now,
- 10:59Speaker 2: Mike Rabel going to high tail it over to the
- 11:02Speaker 2: media workroom at that new facility that Elliott was talking about,
- 11:05Speaker 2: and he will be addressing the media about his situation
- 11:11Speaker 2: and we'll cover that live as well. And then a
- 11:13Speaker 2: little later we'll go back to the party and we'll
- 11:16Speaker 2: have a little sneak peek with our own Alex. She's
- 11:19Speaker 2: up there with a camera and she'll do a live
- 11:22Speaker 2: hit from the party and maybe talk to some fans
- 11:25Speaker 2: and see what they're thinking about who they want to
- 11:28Speaker 2: pick at thirty one or move up, move down. We'll
- 11:31Speaker 2: get some thoughts from the fans. So a lot going
- 11:33Speaker 2: on here, but we got work to do. We got
- 11:36Speaker 2: to talk about this draft, right and so we were
- 11:40Speaker 2: talking about how it plays out when you have a
- 11:43Speaker 2: late pick, and you start checking people off the board
- 11:46Speaker 2: as teams make their picks, and as you get closer
- 11:49Speaker 2: to the person that you've identified as your wish for
- 11:53Speaker 2: round one, it gets a little exciting. So I think
- 11:56Speaker 2: even if you don't, even if it's not a pound
- 11:58Speaker 2: the table person, I think, let's all pick a guy
- 12:02Speaker 2: right now who if he's available, we'd like them to
- 12:05Speaker 2: take a thirty one.
- 12:06Speaker 3: I'll go first. I'll go Blake Miller. Miller, Blake Miller,
- 12:09Speaker 3: right tackle.
- 12:10Speaker 5: Guy that might fall through the cracks a little bit,
- 12:13Speaker 5: really experienced, really tough, still played in his Bowl game
- 12:16Speaker 5: after you know, he already knew he was coming out
- 12:18Speaker 5: that kind of competitive player. You know, maybe he's ready
- 12:22Speaker 5: already just kind of step in maybe at a right
- 12:24Speaker 5: tackle spot. So perhaps it's kind of putting someone in
- 12:28Speaker 5: there who can play sooner than you might need him.
- 12:30Speaker 5: But I think you saw with Nate Solder, you know,
- 12:33Speaker 5: back in the day, you don't know how soon you
- 12:34Speaker 5: might need somebody like this, And I just it's easy
- 12:37Speaker 5: to see him fitting in and to make a great
- 12:39Speaker 5: bookend with Will Campbell to protect Drake May for the
- 12:42Speaker 5: long term.
- 12:43Speaker 3: You know, we talk so much about getting that weapon.
- 12:44Speaker 5: But I think, you know, if you can really ensure
- 12:46Speaker 5: his protection and get a guy who's going to just
- 12:49Speaker 5: lock down that right tackle position for as long as
- 12:51Speaker 5: you want.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Is he a guy that plays this year or is
- 12:53Speaker 4: he I mean, I think a year off.
- 12:55Speaker 5: I mean, I'll let Evan speak a little bit to that,
- 12:57Speaker 5: because I know he dove into I mean, I think
- 12:58Speaker 5: he could be, you know, but he seemed.
- 13:00Speaker 13: He made fifty four starts in college. He started every
- 13:04Speaker 13: game of his college career from a freshman on to
- 13:07Speaker 13: a senior. So he is pro ready. He's ready to
- 13:10Speaker 13: play right away. I think his play strength, you know,
- 13:13Speaker 13: could improve. I think that's probably the one thing that
- 13:17Speaker 13: makes him maybe not a top ten level prospect is
- 13:20Speaker 13: plays a little bit upright, doesn't quite have the play
- 13:23Speaker 13: strength that you would really look for ideally right now.
- 13:27Speaker 3: But you know, I have a tough time with this one.
- 13:29Speaker 13: I don't know if I have anybody that I'm dying
- 13:33Speaker 13: for them to draft or banging the table for them
- 13:35Speaker 13: to draft. I think if it's not one of the
- 13:38Speaker 13: tackles Ianator or Miller, I kind of expect him to
- 13:41Speaker 13: try to trade out of the pick.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Well, okay, so let's add a little bit of complexity
- 13:46Speaker 2: to this in addition to saying who you want, your
- 13:50Speaker 2: other option can be, I want them to move out
- 13:52Speaker 2: and do X, Y and Z.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:54Speaker 13: I feel like if it's not one of the tackles,
- 13:57Speaker 13: just playing the board correctly.
- 13:59Speaker 3: If it's not one of the tackles.
- 14:01Speaker 13: We've talked a lot about this whole lead up about
- 14:03Speaker 13: the gap and talent at tackle. You're either going tackle
- 14:06Speaker 13: in the first round or you're not going to tackle
- 14:08Speaker 13: probably till the end of the third round or into
- 14:10Speaker 13: the fourth round. So tackle is the one spot where
- 14:13Speaker 13: you kind of have to take it here if you
- 14:15Speaker 13: want a guy that, like Mike said, can step in
- 14:18Speaker 13: right away. Ed rusher is the position that I think
- 14:20Speaker 13: you can get away with a trade down.
- 14:22Speaker 3: I think there are.
- 14:23Speaker 13: Guys, whether it's Gabe Achis, it's our Mason, Thomas Malachi, Lawrence,
- 14:28Speaker 13: Cassius Howell, who some don't believe is going to be
- 14:30Speaker 13: a first rounder tonight. Any one of those guys might
- 14:33Speaker 13: be available at let's say thirty four with the Arizona
- 14:37Speaker 13: Cardinals or someplace around that range of the draft. So
- 14:41Speaker 13: I kind of expect them at this point to either
- 14:43Speaker 13: go one of those two tackles, Ionotor or Blake Miller.
- 14:47Speaker 13: If neither one of those players is there when they're
- 14:49Speaker 13: on the clock at thirty one, I think we're trading
- 14:51Speaker 13: out and pick tomorrow.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Okay, and and pick tomorrow, and what do you think
- 14:56Speaker 2: they go after?
- 14:57Speaker 13: I think I think though, they'd go edge rusher at
- 14:59Speaker 13: that point, okay, because there's a lot of edge rusher.
- 15:02Speaker 3: There's a lot. It's a great Yeah.
- 15:04Speaker 2: We talked about Dane Brugler's top one hundred and of
- 15:08Speaker 2: that top one hundred thirty four of his top one
- 15:11Speaker 2: hundred or either a wide receiver or and edge.
- 15:13Speaker 13: Yeah, it's a great edge class. We've talked about it
- 15:16Speaker 13: all off season. It's one of those edge classes though
- 15:19Speaker 13: that there's specific preferences, you know, body types, ages, or
- 15:25Speaker 13: wide variety of Do you want the two hundred and
- 15:28Speaker 13: forty five pound speed rusher, Do you want the two
- 15:30Speaker 13: hundred and sixty five pound edge center. Do you care
- 15:33Speaker 13: about age and how old the prospect is coming in?
- 15:36Speaker 13: You know, a Keem Mesidor is going to have his
- 15:38Speaker 13: name call tonight. He's going to be twenty five years
- 15:40Speaker 13: old as a rookie. You know, there's other guys like
- 15:43Speaker 13: Keldric Faalkhoers can't even buy a drink yet, There'll be
- 15:47Speaker 13: twenty one, you know, in a.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Rookie his rookie season.
- 15:50Speaker 13: So there's a wide range of types, ages, heights, weight speeds,
- 15:56Speaker 13: and you kind of have to decide what your flavor
- 15:58Speaker 13: is in this group.
- 15:59Speaker 6: All right, Paul, Well, yeah, I'm going to stick with Howell.
- 16:02Speaker 6: I understand everything that that Mike said about the tackles,
- 16:07Speaker 6: and I think everything you said is right. I couldn't
- 16:09Speaker 6: argue with any of the points. I just feel like
- 16:13Speaker 6: there's a possibility of getting an edge rusher who at
- 16:17Speaker 6: the very least can be a situational third down guy
- 16:20Speaker 6: that can get after the passer, and I think that's what.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Howell can be from day one. Definitely.
- 16:24Speaker 6: I don't know if he's in every down player right
- 16:27Speaker 6: out of the choot. I don't think he's as strong
- 16:30Speaker 6: setting the edge being physical at the point of attack
- 16:33Speaker 6: as a run stopper, but I do think he has
- 16:35Speaker 6: the ability of the athleticism to get after the passer.
- 16:39Speaker 6: I like Evans's idea, and at least you know, in theory,
- 16:44Speaker 6: the edge position might be the.
- 16:46Speaker 3: Deepest of all of them.
- 16:47Speaker 6: So I think if you to Mike's point, if you
- 16:50Speaker 6: missed the boat on those seven tackles, right, it's you
- 16:54Speaker 6: know the two Utah guys, Mago, you know, you know
- 17:02Speaker 6: Blake Miller, H Freeling and you know ahnachor if you
- 17:05Speaker 6: miss on those guys for whatever reason, all seven of
- 17:08Speaker 6: those guys are gone before you go at thirty one,
- 17:11Speaker 6: which is a possibility, then I think tackles off the
- 17:14Speaker 6: table for you for a little while, because I think
- 17:16Speaker 6: you have to wait for value to match up with
- 17:18Speaker 6: the position. So I think that the one that's deepest
- 17:22Speaker 6: is edge Rusher. Casius Howell is the one that kind
- 17:24Speaker 6: of liked the most. Yeah, lots, I'm in that area.
- 17:27Speaker 6: I mean, obviously David Bailey, you know, really not in
- 17:29Speaker 6: not in play.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it's probably probably probably not gonna. I can't take.
- 17:33Speaker 3: I can't on the table for David. I just wonder
- 17:36Speaker 3: with the tackles.
- 17:37Speaker 13: The one guy that I've had the most trouble with
- 17:39Speaker 13: this entire process is Caleb B. Loomu from Utah, who
- 17:43Speaker 13: I just don't particularly think that he plays very nasty
- 17:46Speaker 13: or plays with a lot of physicality and power.
- 17:49Speaker 3: In his game.
- 17:50Speaker 13: And one of the things that when they drafted Will
- 17:53Speaker 13: Campbell last year, you know, his his nastiness, his uh,
- 17:56Speaker 13: you know, just sort of I don't know, like or
- 18:00Speaker 13: uh was a big part of what drew them to him.
- 18:03Speaker 13: I just don't get that sense from Caleb Lomo as
- 18:06Speaker 13: a prospect. So I don't know if because you say
- 18:09Speaker 13: the seven tackles, I don't know if Caleb Lomu.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Is in that group.
- 18:13Speaker 13: Like, I don't know if they consider him somebody they
- 18:17Speaker 13: would draft in that spot. I'm gonna be willing to
- 18:20Speaker 13: just be wrong about Like, if they pick him tonight,
- 18:22Speaker 13: it would be surprising to me. Maybe I'm going to
- 18:24Speaker 13: be wrong about that. But I really think that for
- 18:27Speaker 13: the Patriots, it's a two horse race at tackle. It's
- 18:29Speaker 13: either gonna be Miller or it's gonna be on a chore.
- 18:32Speaker 13: And I don't really know if Lomu's in that category.
- 18:34Speaker 6: Now he might even know why these guys are gonna
- 18:36Speaker 6: come off the board. I am relying on these guys.
- 18:39Speaker 13: Well, I'm not saying he's going to come off the board.
- 18:41Speaker 13: I'm just saying they're type of player. Yeah, I don't
- 18:43Speaker 13: think he'll be available. Maybe not, but you know somebody
- 18:47Speaker 13: that you know, I think they want somebody that has
- 18:50Speaker 13: a little bit of that edge to him. You know,
- 18:52Speaker 13: plays with a little bit of an edge, especially in
- 18:54Speaker 13: the offensive line, and I just didn't necessarily see that
- 18:57Speaker 13: from him really either guy at Utah, to be honest,
- 19:00Speaker 13: but you know, Lomu's obviously closer to their range.
- 19:03Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:04Speaker 5: Sorry, Fred, I know we're gonna probably go and say,
- 19:05Speaker 5: but I just want to say, like, in regards to
- 19:07Speaker 5: what you guys are saying, I think that's the biggest
- 19:09Speaker 5: need in this draft is to come out with some
- 19:11Speaker 5: pass rush juice off the edge. I don't really care
- 19:13Speaker 5: about setting the edge. I don't care if he's not
- 19:15Speaker 5: big enough with I want somebody off the edge that's
- 19:18Speaker 5: going to push the issue and help Milton Williams and
- 19:21Speaker 5: Christian Barmore.
- 19:22Speaker 3: So it doesn't necessarily have to happen tonight, and maybe
- 19:24Speaker 3: it even happens twice.
- 19:26Speaker 5: But I think of everything we talk about in this draft,
- 19:28Speaker 5: come away with at least one pass rusher with some
- 19:31Speaker 5: juice off the edge.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Yeah all right.
- 19:32Speaker 2: So the guy, the guy that I would like to pick,
- 19:36Speaker 2: and he might be available at thirty one is Kevin CASCEPSI.
- 19:42Speaker 4: I pick him.
- 19:42Speaker 2: I know he's got a little bit of some drops issues,
- 19:46Speaker 2: but I think he's got the type of route running ability,
- 19:51Speaker 2: separation ability that I think would really benefit Drake May.
- 19:55Speaker 4: So that's that's the main thing. I love him if
- 19:58Speaker 4: he's that good player.
- 19:59Speaker 2: If he's not a then I'm perfectly happy taking a tackle,
- 20:04Speaker 2: and I think there's enough available that there will be
- 20:06Speaker 2: a good tackle. Remember last year we were talking about
- 20:09Speaker 2: left tackle. That's a little bit of a thinner selection pool.
- 20:14Speaker 2: This year we're talking about right tackle, really, and I
- 20:17Speaker 2: think that's a larger that's a larger group.
- 20:20Speaker 4: That's a larger group.
- 20:21Speaker 6: And so if I'm taking another let's go, let's go
- 20:24Speaker 6: to the media workroom.
- 20:28Speaker 3: I appreciate it.
- 20:31Speaker 7: Again.
- 20:31Speaker 8: I just want to reiterate the gratitude that I have
- 20:36Speaker 8: the other day to uh that you guys have shown
- 20:40Speaker 8: in a personal and private matter.
- 20:43Speaker 14: You know, I want to address the news regarding our
- 20:44Speaker 14: current situation. I understand that there are questions, but I
- 20:49Speaker 14: take accountability for my actions and the actions that caused
- 20:54Speaker 14: the distraction to the people that I care most about.
- 20:58Speaker 14: My family is football team, the organization, and our fans. Yeah,
- 21:07Speaker 14: you know, my previous actions, UH don't meet the standard
- 21:12Speaker 14: that that I hold myself to they don't. And what
- 21:16Speaker 14: I believe is best for the two most important things
- 21:18Speaker 14: in my life, my family and his football team, is
- 21:21Speaker 14: for us to take the necessary steps to work together
- 21:27Speaker 14: and to to give them what I told them i'd
- 21:29Speaker 14: give them, which is the best version of me. And
- 21:32Speaker 14: that's what we're going to do. And that's going to start.
- 21:35Speaker 14: That has started, that'll that will continue this weekend, and
- 21:38Speaker 14: it will continue for however long it takes uh for
- 21:42Speaker 14: for me to give them and to complete that promise
- 21:46Speaker 14: of given giving them the best version.
- 21:48Speaker 8: Of me possible, and that that's what that's what's going
- 21:50Speaker 8: to happen, and that's what's been happening.
- 21:53Speaker 14: I'm grateful for for Robert and Jonathan for their support.
- 21:57Speaker 14: I'm thankful for the coaches and their support. Most especially,
- 22:00Speaker 14: I'm thankful for the players.
- 22:02Speaker 3: They're the ones that allow.
- 22:04Speaker 14: Us to win games, are the ones that allow.
- 22:06Speaker 8: Us to to coach to coach them, and I appreciate
- 22:12Speaker 8: their support. We've got a lot of great men in there,
- 22:15Speaker 8: and and I appreciate each and every one of them.
- 22:20Speaker 14: Like I told you before, my priorities.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Are my family and this football team, and then.
- 22:25Speaker 14: That order, and there's a balance there that I am
- 22:30Speaker 14: going to create and my family needs me this weekend
- 22:34Speaker 14: and that's where I'll be. But I'm confident in the
- 22:38Speaker 14: people that we have. I'm confident in the preparation. Thankful
- 22:43Speaker 14: for Elliott and his staff that have prepared us for
- 22:47Speaker 14: this night, for this weekend.
- 22:51Speaker 8: I asked that somehow you can allow those players that
- 22:55Speaker 8: we bring onto this.
- 22:56Speaker 14: Football team allow them the excitement and joy of recognizing
- 23:01Speaker 14: a dream and starting a journey.
- 23:04Speaker 3: I hope that you.
- 23:05Speaker 14: Can do that. And again, I'm focused on this team
- 23:11Speaker 14: moving forward, and out of respect in my family, I
- 23:16Speaker 14: won't have any more comments or uh answers to touch
- 23:21Speaker 14: on and I appreciate it.
- 23:24Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 23:28Speaker 6: What maybe Saturday time to step away other than the
- 23:31Speaker 6: time later at the.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Point the drop is going on.
- 23:35Speaker 8: Well, when when you prioritize your family first, uh and
- 23:39Speaker 8: and your job, that's that's what's required, and that's what
- 23:44Speaker 8: was necessary. Got a lot of support from everybody involved,
- 23:51Speaker 8: and so that's UH, that's what I was able to
- 23:54Speaker 8: do and and and and willingly and I and I
- 23:58Speaker 8: want and I want to do that and that's important
- 24:00Speaker 8: to me.
- 24:00Speaker 3: But there's also a balance there.
- 24:02Speaker 8: There's you know, when my family needs me, I'll be
- 24:05Speaker 8: there and I and I know that there's a way
- 24:07Speaker 8: to to give them the best version of me and
- 24:12Speaker 8: also provide and and get what I need from my
- 24:17Speaker 8: family and also from this football team.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Like to anticipate missing, and I'm sorry about.
- 24:24Speaker 7: That's why I do.
- 24:25Speaker 8: I anticipate missing.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Missing any other football activities in the coming weeks.
- 24:29Speaker 8: But I I can't answer that. I can only say
- 24:33Speaker 8: that whatever my family needs, that's that's what I'm going
- 24:36Speaker 8: to provide. But I also understand what's needed for me here.
- 24:41Speaker 8: This isn't this is an exciting time. We just finished
- 24:44Speaker 8: our first week. Guy, guys are guys are excited. I
- 24:49Speaker 8: see leaders developing, the new players that we brought on
- 24:53Speaker 8: to the to the team, and uh, I'm confident that
- 24:57Speaker 8: if I, if I weren't able to be here, that
- 25:01Speaker 8: we have people in place that that can support them
- 25:07Speaker 8: and do those things. So I'm not sure what's going
- 25:10Speaker 8: to be needed of me, but i just know that
- 25:12Speaker 8: I'm going to take the necessary steps with the people
- 25:16Speaker 8: that I care about, that's my family and this team.
- 25:19Speaker 5: Mike, it was reported that even though you would be
- 25:22Speaker 5: away from the team on Saturday, tending to family.
- 25:26Speaker 8: Business, you would still be in communication with the team,
- 25:32Speaker 8: continue to explain.
- 25:33Speaker 2: That or with that.
- 25:34Speaker 8: Well, I mean, I'll obviously try to be uh to
- 25:37Speaker 8: communicate with with Elliott and Ryan and Stretch or Robert
- 25:42Speaker 8: if you know that's necessary. But I don't anticipate, you know.
- 25:46Speaker 8: I mean, I have to do what's needed of me,
- 25:50Speaker 8: you know, with my family and uh you know so,
- 25:54Speaker 8: so again I'm confident that, you know, whatever they need,
- 26:00Speaker 8: I'm going to provide. And UH, I am excited about
- 26:05Speaker 8: the work that everybody's done, Elliott and his staff to
- 26:09Speaker 8: get us here to this point. And UH, I'm confident
- 26:12Speaker 8: that just like last year, we'll we'll come out of
- 26:14Speaker 8: this draft with players that our fans are going to
- 26:17Speaker 8: enjoy watching and they're going to be great teammates and
- 26:20Speaker 8: they're going to help us win.
- 26:21Speaker 6: So thank you yourself to the guys that were in
- 26:24Speaker 6: the last year.
- 26:26Speaker 8: You know, I have to uh, I just have to
- 26:29Speaker 8: make them a priority. That that's what I have to do.
- 26:31Speaker 8: I have to make my family and this football team
- 26:36Speaker 8: uh the priority.
- 26:37Speaker 3: And uh and.
- 26:39Speaker 8: I'm excited about giving them the best version of me
- 26:41Speaker 8: possible and being able to coach and teach and develop
- 26:45Speaker 8: and and all those things that that we talk about,
- 26:47Speaker 8: that we believe in and that we know that are important.
- 26:51Speaker 11: However, just the last two and a half weeks, we
- 26:54Speaker 11: go from your original statement about you know, any situation,
- 26:57Speaker 11: the voters or anything other than it was lapable to
- 26:59Speaker 11: your common Tuesday to now deciding to go to counseling.
- 27:02Speaker 3: What is that process?
- 27:03Speaker 8: Well, that's, uh, that's a private and personal matter. I
- 27:06Speaker 8: don't think that those comments. I think that that was,
- 27:11Speaker 8: you know, always in an attempt to protect your family,
- 27:14Speaker 8: and I would never be dismissive. But I think my
- 27:19Speaker 8: family and this football team and the most important thing,
- 27:22Speaker 8: and that's that's what I plan to do. And I'm
- 27:24Speaker 8: excited about the uh the challenge with both of those things.
- 27:29Speaker 8: Thank you, I appreciate it.
- 27:33Speaker 2: Okay, Well that was Mike vrabel I guess addressing the situation,
- 27:39Speaker 2: taking some questions. I'm not sure we learned anything more
- 27:42Speaker 2: than we did a couple of days ago, other than
- 27:45Speaker 2: confirming that he won't be around on Day three of
- 27:48Speaker 2: the draft. And and you know, it's interesting, uh he says,
- 27:54Speaker 2: you know, I I know that I need to make
- 27:57Speaker 2: the priority of my family and this team. Well, if
- 28:02Speaker 2: the priority wasn't the team last year, he pretty did
- 28:04Speaker 2: a pretty damn good job with the team being second fiddle.
- 28:08Speaker 4: I you know, I know that sounds like a joke,
- 28:10Speaker 4: but really.
- 28:13Speaker 2: He's he's kind of saying it wasn't and that now
- 28:16Speaker 2: that's what he knows he needs to do is make
- 28:19Speaker 2: his family and this team his top priority.
- 28:21Speaker 4: So we'll see what that looks like.
- 28:24Speaker 3: Yeah, just a tough situation. It's hard to see him
- 28:26Speaker 3: like that.
- 28:27Speaker 5: I mean, you can tell this obviously weighing on him extremely,
- 28:29Speaker 5: and you know, you hope that he's going to do
- 28:32Speaker 5: what he needs to do this spring. And you know,
- 28:34Speaker 5: I just I think Patriot Nation was just so in
- 28:36Speaker 5: love with Mike Rabel for so long, and you know,
- 28:39Speaker 5: I know that they've got his back, and you know,
- 28:41Speaker 5: you could see it here in the lane and when
- 28:43Speaker 5: he addressed the media or you know, when he dust
- 28:44Speaker 5: the party initially. Uh so, you know, you just hope
- 28:47Speaker 5: that he does what he needs to do, gets everything right,
- 28:49Speaker 5: and you know that we can move on past this,
- 28:52Speaker 5: and you know, you hope that the draft helps that process.
- 28:55Speaker 2: Yeah, no one had on their Bengo card a year
- 28:57Speaker 2: ago that a year from then would be he'd be
- 29:01Speaker 2: up there talking about something like this, It's it's crazy,
- 29:04Speaker 2: It's crazy.
- 29:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:06Speaker 6: Yeah, I would just add I remember when we were
- 29:08Speaker 6: in Denver for.
- 29:09Speaker 3: The AFC Championship game.
- 29:10Speaker 13: I saw Elliott Wolf in the press box and we
- 29:14Speaker 13: were chatting and we talked about them getting on a
- 29:17Speaker 13: plane to go to the Senior Bowl. Him in the
- 29:20Speaker 13: scouting staff and Ryan Cowden immediately from Denver, and you know,
- 29:25Speaker 13: while the Patriots were playing in the playoffs, and while
- 29:27Speaker 13: they were in the Super Bowl and everybody on the
- 29:30Speaker 13: coaching side was prepared for their opponents in the playoff run,
- 29:34Speaker 13: the scouting department has been working on the draft, and frankly,
- 29:38Speaker 13: day three of the draft is their time to shine,
- 29:41Speaker 13: right Like Day three of the draft is when the
- 29:43Speaker 13: area of scouts and the college scouting side of things
- 29:47Speaker 13: and Ryan Cowden, Elliot Wolf's team that they're the ones
- 29:51Speaker 13: that are putting in the work to find the Craig
- 29:52Speaker 13: woodsons and to find the guys in the fifth, sixth,
- 29:56Speaker 13: and seventh rounds that are going to make an impact
- 29:58Speaker 13: on the team. So they're they're in good hands, like
- 30:01Speaker 13: they're prepared for it, and so I have no doubt
- 30:05Speaker 13: that you know, they have a level of preparation from
- 30:08Speaker 13: that side of things, because I know there's gonna be
- 30:10Speaker 13: questions about you know, well Mike Rabel's not there, then
- 30:13Speaker 13: who was making the decisions? And you know, do they
- 30:16Speaker 13: need him in the room to make good decisions on
- 30:18Speaker 13: these players? But uh, when it comes to all that stuff,
- 30:22Speaker 13: you know, those conversations have all been had already. You know,
- 30:25Speaker 13: they've had these conversations and they've had these discussions, and
- 30:28Speaker 13: they've built their draft board and they've stacked the board
- 30:31Speaker 13: and all that different type of stuff.
- 30:32Speaker 2: So but there's trades and okaying trades and things like
- 30:36Speaker 2: that too, you know, so you know how open will
- 30:39Speaker 2: the line of communication be?
- 30:41Speaker 4: It remotely?
- 30:42Speaker 5: Yeah, So, well, you know he's got a staff that
- 30:45Speaker 5: he trusts, and I mean guys that he goes stretch.
- 30:47Speaker 5: I mean he goes I mean that's like his right
- 30:49Speaker 5: hand man, Ryan Cowden, he goes way back with nice
- 30:52Speaker 5: things to say about Elliott Wolf and how that relationship is. Uh,
- 30:55Speaker 5: you know, it's unfortunate. I mean, it's not ideal, but
- 30:57Speaker 5: this is what he needs to do to make things right.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Then, So be it figured out?
- 31:01Speaker 13: The one question I had I didn't maybe you guys
- 31:04Speaker 13: heard that this question was asked. Was it asked how
- 31:07Speaker 13: long he's gonna be away from the team and how
- 31:10Speaker 13: long this process here? Because I I that's the question
- 31:16Speaker 13: that I have is, you know, let's take away the
- 31:19Speaker 13: draft for a second. You know they are in the
- 31:21Speaker 13: middle of the off season program. Uh, you know OTAs
- 31:24Speaker 13: and rookie mini camp and and MIDI camp with mandatory
- 31:28Speaker 13: mini camp with the veterans in June. You know, how
- 31:31Speaker 13: long is you know I need to take time away
- 31:34Speaker 13: for my family. I couldn't hear the questions, yeah, very
- 31:37Speaker 13: well to know if that question was.
- 31:38Speaker 6: I don't know if the question was asked specifically, but
- 31:41Speaker 6: I do think he answered something along those lines about
- 31:43Speaker 6: being with his family this weekend.
- 31:46Speaker 3: He said specifically, I think the.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Plan is back Monday, but he also said, as long
- 31:51Speaker 2: as this takes. This is a fluid situation. This wasn't
- 31:56Speaker 2: planned to happen right yesterday. What happened on Wednesday wasn't
- 32:00Speaker 2: being planned on Monday.
- 32:01Speaker 4: So who knows. And I think that he I think.
- 32:05Speaker 2: In his mind he's going to be back Monday, but
- 32:07Speaker 2: he said as long as this takes, And so what
- 32:11Speaker 2: happens if something happens Saturday or Sunday that I'm not
- 32:14Speaker 2: ready to come back.
- 32:15Speaker 3: Yeah, that could happen. That question was asked.
- 32:18Speaker 13: I said, I guess I'm just looking on Twitter, and
- 32:19Speaker 13: he said that he can't answer that right now.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Yeah, so's he doesn't know one hundred percent.
- 32:24Speaker 13: And that that to me is interesting just because this time,
- 32:28Speaker 13: you know, the draft and Day three of the draft
- 32:30Speaker 13: and all that stuff. You know that that's that's the
- 32:33Speaker 13: scouting department, in the personnel department's baby. But when it
- 32:36Speaker 13: comes to coaching the team and leading OTAs, and the
- 32:40Speaker 13: rookies are going to be here on May seventh and
- 32:42Speaker 13: and those guys are going to get on board and
- 32:44Speaker 13: and uh you know they're going to have their rookie
- 32:46Speaker 13: mini camp and all that different type of stuff. You know,
- 32:49Speaker 13: you want Mike Rable to be a part of that
- 32:51Speaker 13: in an ideal situation or Yeah.
- 32:53Speaker 2: One thing he he requested. And I'll ask you, guys,
- 32:56Speaker 2: what do you think about the request? Is that you know,
- 32:59Speaker 2: media allow these guys coming in to have their time.
- 33:03Speaker 2: This is a joyous time for them embarketing on their
- 33:07Speaker 2: pro career, and you know, hopefully.
- 33:10Speaker 4: You'll let them have that time.
- 33:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, what.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Did you think about that you think the media will
- 33:14Speaker 2: will honor that.
- 33:15Speaker 3: I mean, we'll see.
- 33:17Speaker 5: I think that's why he did this today, is to
- 33:19Speaker 5: try to come out and say I've covered it, I've
- 33:21Speaker 5: you know, had a press conference and taking questions on
- 33:24Speaker 5: this and no, I you know, it was interesting. I
- 33:27Speaker 5: didn't even think of that really when he said that,
- 33:28Speaker 5: but it's it's so true because you remember him talking
- 33:31Speaker 5: last year about how special this is for these players
- 33:34Speaker 5: who have worked their whole lives.
- 33:36Speaker 3: For these men, and I think those are similar things.
- 33:37Speaker 6: I think the media will treat the players that get
- 33:39Speaker 6: drafted as the players who got drafted. I don't think
- 33:41Speaker 6: it's I don't think the two haven't. You're not going
- 33:43Speaker 6: to ask the first round pick what do you think
- 33:46Speaker 6: of your head coach's situation? No one's going to do that. Well,
- 33:49Speaker 6: no one's going to do. They those questions, they're going
- 33:52Speaker 6: to ask them.
- 33:53Speaker 3: I hope, I hope they wouldn't. I mean, it's not
- 33:56Speaker 3: the kid the responsibility to answer that question. You know,
- 34:01Speaker 3: draft I couldn't. I couldn't. I mean, I don't know.
- 34:03Speaker 6: I guess Fred's right, I shouldn't just automatically assume that
- 34:06Speaker 6: the right thing is going to be done. I can't
- 34:08Speaker 6: see anybody doing that though. Yeah, they're two separate things,
- 34:11Speaker 6: and I think the media can separate those two.
- 34:13Speaker 4: All right. So that's that.
- 34:15Speaker 2: So obviously, you know, it's a big deal that they
- 34:20Speaker 2: had to do that. But let's talk about let's get
- 34:22Speaker 2: back to talking about the draft.
- 34:25Speaker 6: So we got Blake Miller down Cashus Marsh Yeah, crash
- 34:30Speaker 6: Is Howl Yeah.
- 34:36Speaker 3: I like that pick Fred I like it too.
- 34:38Speaker 13: I I love the player. I mean, I think he's
- 34:41Speaker 13: probably the best pure separator out of any receiver in
- 34:44Speaker 13: the entire draft class. He obviously has some of the
- 34:47Speaker 13: hands and ball skills issues that you know have been
- 34:50Speaker 13: well documented, but he's got a little bit more size
- 34:54Speaker 13: than your typical jitter bug, you know, separator. He's five
- 34:58Speaker 13: to eleven almost six feet all one ninety, so he
- 35:01Speaker 13: doesn't have you know, he's not Jay Flowers or Pop Douglas's.
- 35:05Speaker 3: Size, where he's five eight five nine with that kind
- 35:08Speaker 3: of separation ability.
- 35:09Speaker 13: So he's got real uh speed, real quickness at the
- 35:13Speaker 13: top of the route. A great open field player as
- 35:17Speaker 13: well as a ball carrier. He's an All American uh,
- 35:20Speaker 13: you know, all time All a Conference punt returner as well,
- 35:24Speaker 13: so you know, even though I don't know if the
- 35:26Speaker 13: punt returner job is open here in New England, but uh,
- 35:29Speaker 13: that open field ability translates the offense too with the
- 35:33Speaker 13: ball in his hands. So you know, you get a
- 35:35Speaker 13: guy like that in here, it's it would be uh,
- 35:37Speaker 13: it would be a great move.
- 35:38Speaker 3: I think he'll probably be off the board by the
- 35:40Speaker 3: time they pick.
- 35:41Speaker 13: But he's a he's a hell of a player. Now
- 35:44Speaker 13: if you get him, you know, do you trade for
- 35:47Speaker 13: a J.
- 35:48Speaker 3: Brown? Still? I mean you still could like that.
- 35:50Speaker 15: A J.
- 35:50Speaker 3: Brown's you know, more of your peer X, your peer
- 35:53Speaker 3: outside receiver.
- 35:54Speaker 4: I still I would still I make with the idea
- 35:59Speaker 4: that a J. Brown it's going to be on the team.
- 36:01Speaker 3: I'm out on that. You don't want to do all
- 36:03Speaker 3: don't want to do both too many receivers. We found
- 36:05Speaker 3: the point.
- 36:05Speaker 6: Part well, I don't want to wait. I don't want
- 36:07Speaker 6: to waste resources. I don't mind a team like to
- 36:09Speaker 6: Fred's point, I don't mind. The idea of my depth
- 36:12Speaker 6: chart is AJ Brown with you know, Romeo Dobbs Casey concepts,
- 36:16Speaker 6: and then whoever of the rest ends up emerging, whether
- 36:19Speaker 6: it be e Ft Chisholm or to Mario Douglas. If
- 36:22Speaker 6: kishon Booty stays, I don't mind that depth chart. To
- 36:25Speaker 6: Fred's point, I like making that a strength. I just
- 36:28Speaker 6: don't want to use all those resources. So now I'm
- 36:30Speaker 6: using a first round pick in twenty in twenty six,
- 36:34Speaker 6: maybe a second round pick in twenty seven.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Wow, for receivers, that's a lot.
- 36:40Speaker 2: Let's let's throw something into the pot, you know, to
- 36:43Speaker 2: give it a little spice.
- 36:45Speaker 4: You mentioned Booty.
- 36:47Speaker 2: What if the assets that you're giving up for a J.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Brown is not necessarily a first round pick?
- 36:53Speaker 3: I said, a second round pick?
- 36:54Speaker 4: Okay, well I thought you said first.
- 36:55Speaker 6: But that's this this year for casey concepts you I'm
- 36:58Speaker 6: using a first round yeah?
- 36:59Speaker 3: Oh yeah, right, next year, I'm using a second round
- 37:01Speaker 3: pick for AJ Brown? What you hope? How am I
- 37:05Speaker 3: getting them for nothing?
- 37:06Speaker 2: No? I just so, what what if the assets that
- 37:09Speaker 2: you're giving up for a J. Brown is Booty and
- 37:12Speaker 2: maybe a third this year?
- 37:13Speaker 6: Oh well, you can't give up anything this year because
- 37:16Speaker 6: you're not making the trade.
- 37:17Speaker 4: Now that's true. Yeah, so next year, I don't think you're.
- 37:21Speaker 3: Getting them for that. I don't think Booty moves the
- 37:23Speaker 3: needle that much.
- 37:24Speaker 6: For I mean the report is they're trying to get
- 37:26Speaker 6: a Day three pick. So I don't think that Booty
- 37:30Speaker 6: gets you a J. Brown with a third for just
- 37:32Speaker 6: a third round pick.
- 37:33Speaker 13: I also think the Eagles have made some contingencies about
- 37:36Speaker 13: not having Brown already, you know, by trading for Dantavian Wicks,
- 37:40Speaker 13: by signing Hollywood Brown. You know what, Elijah Moore, what
- 37:44Speaker 13: do they do in this draft? You know they're really
- 37:46Speaker 13: going to trade a J.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Brown?
- 37:48Speaker 13: Then maybe they're a receiver team over the next two days.
- 37:51Speaker 13: And so I don't you know, I think that they
- 37:53Speaker 13: have a good idea of who their receiver room is
- 37:56Speaker 13: going to be minus a J.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Brown. I've gone back and forth on it, paul I.
- 38:00Speaker 13: I feel like it's a lot of resources sinking into
- 38:02Speaker 13: one position, especially when you have other holes.
- 38:04Speaker 3: I like, I like Freddy's deep chat.
- 38:07Speaker 6: No, I'm not going to so you like it.
- 38:09Speaker 4: You can't make a trade for a player to be
- 38:11Speaker 4: named later.
- 38:14Speaker 6: I mean, right, I definitely like the idea of all
- 38:16Speaker 6: of a sudden, I think a wide receiver depth chart
- 38:18Speaker 6: is the strength of the team.
- 38:19Speaker 3: I like that idea, right.
- 38:21Speaker 6: That's why I think that's a lot of resources today.
- 38:24Speaker 3: You know, you just have to look at.
- 38:25Speaker 13: You know, who's come now, who's at rusher, right tackle,
- 38:29Speaker 13: tight end, linebacker, depth, you know, like all these other
- 38:32Speaker 13: places that I think they have to hit over the
- 38:34Speaker 13: next couple of days if you're sinking all of your
- 38:37Speaker 13: two top one hundred picks into wide receivers and back
- 38:39Speaker 13: to back drafts. They haven't taken a defensive player in
- 38:42Speaker 13: the top one hundred since twenty twenty three. Since the
- 38:45Speaker 13: Gonzales draft in twenty twenty three.
- 38:48Speaker 3: Years they took offense. All offense.
- 38:50Speaker 13: They haven't used you know, they've used two first round
- 38:52Speaker 13: picks in the last decade on defensive players.
- 38:56Speaker 3: Who's the other one, Mike Quick Quick Malcolm was.
- 39:05Speaker 13: Fifteen years Yeah, so Gonzales and Malcolm Brown the last
- 39:08Speaker 13: ten years of what first round picks, it's only two
- 39:11Speaker 13: defensive players.
- 39:12Speaker 3: At some point, you do feel like they have.
- 39:14Speaker 13: To start replenishing the well a little bit on that
- 39:17Speaker 13: side of the ball too. They for good reason, have
- 39:20Speaker 13: used their top one hundred picks on offense the last
- 39:21Speaker 13: two years. They have one of the worst offenses in football.
- 39:23Speaker 6: But they were also pretty much exclusively defense in free
- 39:27Speaker 6: agency last year too. You know it was you know,
- 39:31Speaker 6: Splaine and Davis Andreid like Chase on all they.
- 39:35Speaker 4: Spent a lot on defense.
- 39:36Speaker 5: They did just so you almost had to go offense
- 39:39Speaker 5: last year. It's been a long term on the on
- 39:41Speaker 5: the defensive side of all. But you know, we said
- 39:43Speaker 5: on the pre show, do they draft a wide receiver?
- 39:45Speaker 5: And if they don't draft a wide receiver, is that
- 39:48Speaker 5: a blinking signal that they're going to get a J.
- 39:50Speaker 3: Brown.
- 39:51Speaker 5: Last point I'll make on it is, you know they
- 39:52Speaker 5: have three guys next year they're gonna be free agents
- 39:54Speaker 5: that are wide receivers. Usually we want to get back
- 39:56Speaker 5: to the place where you would draft a guy this year,
- 39:58Speaker 5: maybe you would develop him, be ready to go to
- 40:00Speaker 5: replace somebody.
- 40:01Speaker 3: So maybe they don't maybe signs point towards towards a J. Brown.
- 40:04Speaker 6: It's just like the first round pick. If you're to me,
- 40:08Speaker 6: that's an investment in the position. Yeah, that's why. And
- 40:11Speaker 6: I like I like Casey Conception a lot. You guys know,
- 40:14Speaker 6: we've been talking about this guy for six seven weeks now.
- 40:16Speaker 6: I like the player a lot. He's one of the
- 40:18Speaker 6: few guys that I didn't necessarily to do any draft
- 40:21Speaker 6: prep on. I remember watching A and M games and
- 40:24Speaker 6: just really.
- 40:24Speaker 3: Liking the guy.
- 40:25Speaker 6: So I'm with fred in theory. I just don't know's
- 40:31Speaker 6: I just don't know if it's worth all that now. Uh,
- 40:35Speaker 6: another sort of rumor that was percolating a little bit
- 40:38Speaker 6: this afternoon, And if you guys saw the whole Brian
- 40:40Speaker 6: Thomas thing kind of coming back to play.
- 40:42Speaker 13: It, it got shot down and then it got down
- 40:44Speaker 13: again and then it came back.
- 40:45Speaker 6: Well, I'm gonna continue to have so I like I
- 40:50Speaker 6: like the idea of Brian Thomas more than I.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Do A J. Brown. I'm not gonna lie that's interesting.
- 40:54Speaker 6: Really, Yeah, I think he's younger and has a bit
- 40:56Speaker 6: more of an upside at this stage.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Now, A J.
- 40:59Speaker 6: Brown has had the better career. He's the better player.
- 41:01Speaker 6: I'm not I'm not being stupid about it, but I
- 41:04Speaker 6: think that Brian Thomas's best football is ahead of him.
- 41:06Speaker 3: I'm not sure I can say the same for A J. Brown. Yeah,
- 41:08Speaker 3: I think that's a fair take.
- 41:10Speaker 13: I mean, he's much younger, and you know, he has
- 41:12Speaker 13: that down the field vertical threat type of thing going on.
- 41:16Speaker 13: But Drake May you know, great catch radius, great vertical
- 41:19Speaker 13: stretch ability. He fits the mold of what you would
- 41:22Speaker 13: want for a receiver in Drake May. I just I can't,
- 41:25Speaker 13: for the life of me figure out why the Jaguars
- 41:27Speaker 13: are trading Brian Thomas. You're probably right, and unless it's
- 41:31Speaker 13: you know, off the field kind of, he doesn't seem
- 41:35Speaker 13: like with them Cohen, maybe that's it, which makes him
- 41:38Speaker 13: a very opposite of aj Brown, who they know there's
- 41:41Speaker 13: a relationship there that already exists where you know that
- 41:44Speaker 13: like on the field that Green.
- 41:46Speaker 3: I think that there was.
- 41:47Speaker 6: I think the problem with Thomas is not necessarily like
- 41:50Speaker 6: his attitude. It's more of the fit in what Cohen
- 41:53Speaker 6: was looking for. And I evn't talked a lot a
- 41:55Speaker 6: while back about he was on the outside running routes
- 41:59Speaker 6: down you know, the numbers and whatnot a lot his
- 42:02Speaker 6: rookie year, and they were asking him to go over
- 42:03Speaker 6: the middle of a lot last year and it didn't
- 42:05Speaker 6: seem like it was a good mixed form. He had
- 42:07Speaker 6: some bad drops happens. He's he's an ISO receiver. If
- 42:11Speaker 6: Jacksonville wants to trade up into the you know, I
- 42:15Speaker 6: don't know, I don't know how much that would how
- 42:17Speaker 6: much you'd have to give up there If Brian Thomas
- 42:20Speaker 6: is involved in a deal like that I'd be kicking
- 42:23Speaker 6: the tires.
- 42:24Speaker 5: I mean, does that feel like a move, Paul, where
- 42:26Speaker 5: this is like an end this weekend kind of move
- 42:28Speaker 5: where we get to I mean, he could be a
- 42:30Speaker 5: Day three I mean they see, but for tomorrow, I mean,
- 42:32Speaker 5: you're going to trade a first round or right for
- 42:33Speaker 5: Brian No, but.
- 42:34Speaker 6: They look, you're probably looking to pitch swap because.
- 42:37Speaker 13: The Jaguars don't have a first round pick because they
- 42:39Speaker 13: traded it for Travis Hunter. But they're talking about Travis
- 42:43Speaker 13: Hunter playing corner basically full time next year, so I
- 42:46Speaker 13: know they really like Parker Washington. They're other wide receiver.
- 42:49Speaker 13: But if you trade Brian Thomas junior, like, I agree,
- 42:52Speaker 13: I would un playing corner, Like who's the who's the
- 42:56Speaker 13: guy that's stepping into you?
- 42:58Speaker 6: Gotta be you got a bunch of robins, right, I mean,
- 43:01Speaker 6: I think Brian Thomas can be Batman. I don't think
- 43:03Speaker 6: you know, Jakobe Myers and Parker Washington are gonna be
- 43:06Speaker 6: that guy.
- 43:06Speaker 13: Yeah, they I agree, though you know, stylistically, you know
- 43:11Speaker 13: they he's a spread offense type of receiver. You want
- 43:14Speaker 13: to put him in isolation and let him go one
- 43:16Speaker 13: on one against guys on the outside.
- 43:18Speaker 3: That's what they did at LC.
- 43:20Speaker 13: It was Neighbors on one side, it was Thomas Junior
- 43:22Speaker 13: on the other, and it was Jaden Daniels throwing him
- 43:24Speaker 13: the football and it was prolific. But this offense with
- 43:28Speaker 13: Liam Cohen is more under center.
- 43:30Speaker 3: It's more run.
- 43:30Speaker 13: Action, play actions heavy, a lot more routes over the
- 43:34Speaker 13: middle of the field. It's it's a Shanahan adjacent type
- 43:37Speaker 13: of offense. So I could see maybe stylistically it's not
- 43:40Speaker 13: a perfect fit. I just I think that messes up
- 43:43Speaker 13: the entire picking order of their offense if they were
- 43:45Speaker 13: to trade him. But maybe they feel strongly about one
- 43:48Speaker 13: of these receivers and they're gonna trade up, you know,
- 43:50Speaker 13: into the first round to grab Denzel Boston or something
- 43:54Speaker 13: like that, and then they're gonna, you know, replace him
- 43:57Speaker 13: with Brian Thomas Junior.
- 43:59Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 43:59Speaker 5: That's what I've made peace with, Like none of those
- 44:01Speaker 5: high wide receivers, Like it's it's probably not gonna happen.
- 44:04Speaker 5: I'm assuming it's gonna be a J Brown in a month.
- 44:07Speaker 5: I am too. I think that's what they've got a
- 44:10Speaker 5: safe Maybe you hang on to a mac Collins, but
- 44:14Speaker 5: I mean I'm.
- 44:14Speaker 3: Interested really about Pop Douglas. How does he look this year?
- 44:17Speaker 3: You know, does eftin Chism make a push?
- 44:18Speaker 5: Like all these guys are coming back, you hope that
- 44:21Speaker 5: some of them start to improve and do more than
- 44:23Speaker 5: they did last year.
- 44:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean Kyle Williams.
- 44:26Speaker 13: Kyle Williams is the biggest X factor in that room
- 44:29Speaker 13: because you know, you talked about Douglas and Booty the
- 44:32Speaker 13: twenty twenty three draft picks being in contract years like
- 44:35Speaker 13: you're you're The hope is is that at least he
- 44:38Speaker 13: can come in and fill one of the roles of
- 44:41Speaker 13: Booty in Pop Douglas. Like that doesn't mean he has
- 44:44Speaker 13: to be the guy, but it can he have well
- 44:46Speaker 13: one hundred yards like Keijon Boody did last year.
- 44:49Speaker 6: You know, it's something like and.
- 44:50Speaker 3: Then you look at next year and you say, all right,
- 44:52Speaker 3: a J.
- 44:53Speaker 5: Brown, Romeo Dobbs and kind of developing Kyle Williams that
- 44:56Speaker 5: we feel good about.
- 44:57Speaker 3: It's not you know, it's not a bad place to
- 44:59Speaker 3: have Alex upstairs.
- 45:00Speaker 2: Oh hey, Alex is up at the party, and so
- 45:04Speaker 2: let's let's hear from her.
- 45:05Speaker 4: What's going on over there?
- 45:07Speaker 3: Hey Alex?
- 45:08Speaker 16: Hey, guys can you hear me.
- 45:10Speaker 2: Okay, oh yeah, all right.
- 45:14Speaker 16: How are you doing?
- 45:15Speaker 6: Party?
- 45:15Speaker 16: People?
- 45:15Speaker 4: I mean we're having you're at the party.
- 45:18Speaker 16: Lots of kids here, all right?
- 45:22Speaker 10: What was that?
- 45:24Speaker 5: Oh no, we just said you're at the party, so
- 45:25Speaker 5: we're not. We're partying, kind of downing, I guess you
- 45:27Speaker 5: could call it that.
- 45:28Speaker 6: But.
- 45:30Speaker 16: I know I miss you guys up here. But it's
- 45:32Speaker 16: it's pretty fun already. I think fans are fired up
- 45:35Speaker 16: about free food one RKK, Mike Rable and Elliott Wolf
- 45:39Speaker 16: already addressed the crowd. Big pop for all three of them.
- 45:43Speaker 16: Milton Williams, they were fired up to see him, and yeah,
- 45:46Speaker 16: the vibes are high.
- 45:48Speaker 2: So have you talked with anybody about you know, what
- 45:51Speaker 2: they're hoping will happen tonight. In terms of the Patriots
- 45:55Speaker 2: thirty first selection, there's.
- 45:57Speaker 16: A lot, a lot of consensus. I'm hearing that people
- 46:00Speaker 16: think we're going to trade out. Maybe that has to
- 46:03Speaker 16: do with the energy compared to last year and the
- 46:06Speaker 16: year before, we were picking a little higher. But people
- 46:09Speaker 16: seem to think that we're going to make some moves.
- 46:11Speaker 16: They're here anyways for a good time, for some drinks
- 46:14Speaker 16: and to connect with fans. But that's the general consensus
- 46:16Speaker 16: from people I've talked to.
- 46:18Speaker 4: What's the food spread?
- 46:20Speaker 6: Like, qu's important?
- 46:22Speaker 16: All you smell is buffalo sauce. Smells buffalo sauce tenders.
- 46:27Speaker 3: You know, the good stuff.
- 46:28Speaker 4: Yeah, nothing wrong with that, all right? So what are
- 46:31Speaker 4: you going to be doing tonight up there?
- 46:34Speaker 16: Well, we are going to be lurking around, We're going
- 46:36Speaker 16: to find some good fans to interview, hopefully try to
- 46:39Speaker 16: top last year's interview, and now sending people up to
- 46:44Speaker 16: one of our content videos that we're trying to produce
- 46:46Speaker 16: with some fans. So Sar just helped us out with that.
- 46:49Speaker 16: He's making announcements that our content team wants to get
- 46:53Speaker 16: some you know, participation from the people who are here.
- 46:56Speaker 16: And there's people lining up at the stairs to go
- 46:59Speaker 16: up to that sweet that we're shooting in. So that's
- 47:01Speaker 16: good news.
- 47:02Speaker 4: All right, sounds good.
- 47:03Speaker 2: Well, you enjoy yourself up there and we'll we'll check
- 47:06Speaker 2: back with you a little bit later.
- 47:07Speaker 4: Are you going to be up there all night?
- 47:09Speaker 15: Like?
- 47:09Speaker 4: Are you going to be there for the thirty first pick?
- 47:13Speaker 3: I'm shutting it down, Fred, I'm going to shut it
- 47:14Speaker 3: down up here thirty She's She's like, no, I'm good.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Okay, So you know we'll we'll check back in at
- 47:21Speaker 2: you and get Yeah.
- 47:24Speaker 3: He's like, can I go all right? I'm stay safe, Alex.
- 47:28Speaker 3: I don't want to those.
- 47:30Speaker 16: Time my best, Paul, thank you for your concern.
- 47:34Speaker 3: You up there right, you know they're keeping We'll talk
- 47:36Speaker 3: to you Kellen with me. So I got the big guns.
- 47:40Speaker 3: Kellen's going to save the day.
- 47:41Speaker 4: All right.
- 47:41Speaker 3: I feel better Now.
- 47:42Speaker 4: That's Alex from the draft party.
- 47:45Speaker 6: So that's interesting that she's talked to a number of
- 47:48Speaker 6: people who are in the trade out category.
- 47:50Speaker 3: I mean, I kind of feel like that.
- 47:52Speaker 6: It seems like that's what everyone was talking about, that.
- 47:58Speaker 3: The food in connecting with fans.
- 48:01Speaker 13: Yes, it's interesting because Seattle has already put a for
- 48:07Speaker 13: sale sign on their pick.
- 48:08Speaker 3: They only have four picks in the entire dright.
- 48:10Speaker 6: They couldn't want anything less to do with this draft.
- 48:12Speaker 13: Yeah, so they they've already put a four sale sign
- 48:14Speaker 13: on the thirty second pick. So now if the Patriots
- 48:17Speaker 13: are interested in trading out, they have to convince teams
- 48:20Speaker 13: that you have to actually get ahead of Seattle and
- 48:22Speaker 13: you need to come all the way up to thirty one.
- 48:24Speaker 13: So who's the other team, you know, Ty Simpsons seems
- 48:28Speaker 13: to be the target, right and the Jets, maybe the
- 48:31Speaker 13: Cardinals maybe those are the two teams that stand out
- 48:34Speaker 13: to me as potential trade up teams.
- 48:36Speaker 6: From Arizona has been connected to the Patriots a lot.
- 48:39Speaker 6: You see these random mock drafts go by and scrolls,
- 48:42Speaker 6: and so many of them have thirty one Arizona.
- 48:45Speaker 3: Yeah, trade with Patriots? Yeah, I mean it makes sense.
- 48:47Speaker 3: You know that they hired a la Floor.
- 48:49Speaker 13: You know, they run that kind of offense that everybody
- 48:53Speaker 13: runs with the Shanahan tree. And could he be Jimmy
- 48:56Speaker 13: Garoppolo Rock Purty talking about Ty Simpson, you know you're
- 48:59Speaker 13: not gonna ask him to come in and be Josh
- 49:02Speaker 13: Allen or Drake May where there's a lot of the
- 49:04Speaker 13: offense and the playmaking is coming from the quarterback. So
- 49:08Speaker 13: I could see it being a fit there in Arizona.
- 49:11Speaker 3: Would you trade with it?
- 49:12Speaker 13: If you've evaluated Ty Simpson and you've decided that he
- 49:16Speaker 13: could be pretty good, you know, would you trade him
- 49:18Speaker 13: in the division? Would you give him to the Jets
- 49:20Speaker 13: if the Jets wanted to come up. I think that's
- 49:22Speaker 13: you know, part of the conversation there as well. I
- 49:24Speaker 13: can't really think of another team in range, like, I
- 49:27Speaker 13: don't want to trade too far down. I'm trading down.
- 49:29Speaker 13: I don't want to trade twenty picks down. You know,
- 49:31Speaker 13: five to ten is I think a comfortable range. But
- 49:34Speaker 13: anything you know, further down than that, I think is
- 49:36Speaker 13: starting to get a little bit stressful. So I don't
- 49:39Speaker 13: know who else would really fit the bill there, but
- 49:41Speaker 13: those two teams stand out.
- 49:42Speaker 3: I'm just excited to see how it starts going at
- 49:45Speaker 3: the twenties.
- 49:46Speaker 5: Because, as everybody said after the about fifteen, it's a
- 49:49Speaker 5: lot of similar type players. But is there a type
- 49:53Speaker 5: of player that another team we're not thinking about that
- 49:55Speaker 5: the right guy falls through to twenty four, twenty five,
- 49:58Speaker 5: twenty somewhere in there, and they say, you know what,
- 50:00Speaker 5: we didn't expect the Denzel Bust or somebody is Paul.
- 50:03Speaker 6: And continue my broken record, please, if Kenyon Sadik starts
- 50:06Speaker 6: to fall, I want.
- 50:07Speaker 5: To be interested in great one, great one, And I
- 50:10Speaker 5: think that's the one guy that I would say a
- 50:12Speaker 5: lot of you know, we keep talking about there's seven tackles,
- 50:16Speaker 5: there's you know, eight or ten edge guys, there's you know,
- 50:19Speaker 5: all these wide receivers.
- 50:20Speaker 6: Fred, what your number thirty four edge and wide receivers
- 50:23Speaker 6: in the top one hundred, right, that's right, his one
- 50:25Speaker 6: tight end that goes in that top cat. I know
- 50:27Speaker 6: this tight ends a pretty good position overall, but in
- 50:31Speaker 6: terms of that star quality, there's one, and he's supposed
- 50:35Speaker 6: to go around, you know, I don't know between fifteen
- 50:37Speaker 6: and twenty five.
- 50:38Speaker 3: Sure, I think.
- 50:39Speaker 6: Late teens is probably the starting point. So if he
- 50:42Speaker 6: starts to get to like twenty two, twenty three, twenty four,
- 50:46Speaker 6: that might be.
- 50:47Speaker 3: Where I'm interested in trying to get aggressive. I like it,
- 50:50Speaker 3: I literally do.
- 50:51Speaker 13: He's an interesting player because he's he's not the prototype, right,
- 50:55Speaker 13: he's a little bit undersized for that position six three,
- 50:58Speaker 13: two forty or not talking about you know, guys like
- 51:01Speaker 13: Lovelan and Tyler Warren last year.
- 51:02Speaker 3: He is put together though, like does he like he just.
- 51:06Speaker 6: Looks and he I mean he's not like, he's not
- 51:10Speaker 6: going to be a punishing blocker.
- 51:11Speaker 3: I mean he's not wrong.
- 51:12Speaker 2: I don't care, but I don't think he's but I
- 51:16Speaker 2: don't think he's completely disinterested in it.
- 51:18Speaker 3: Right, That's that's all you need. Your guy, Your guy
- 51:21Speaker 3: Max Claire, I think is pretty good at both. You know,
- 51:24Speaker 3: hes got a little. I mean he's not heavy, but
- 51:26Speaker 3: but he has.
- 51:27Speaker 6: But he's my brother, he's good.
- 51:33Speaker 2: Speaking of tight ends, John Wrights, and based on how
- 51:36Speaker 2: this draft class is being described, it seems like a
- 51:39Speaker 2: team would gain more value by taking a tight end
- 51:42Speaker 2: in the third round and using their first round pick
- 51:45Speaker 2: on another position, rather than selecting Sadik in the first
- 51:49Speaker 2: and filling a different need later. If that reason he holds,
- 51:52Speaker 2: shouldn't we expect Sadik to slide further down the draft
- 51:55Speaker 2: boards than most drafts, mock drafts currently project him.
- 51:59Speaker 13: I mean, I most mock drafts are projecting him to
- 52:01Speaker 13: go in the late teens early twenties, which feels about right.
- 52:04Speaker 3: And I don't really understand the premise of that, Like, well.
- 52:08Speaker 13: There's a it's a deep class, so there's gonna there's
- 52:10Speaker 13: a lot of tight ends that are going to be
- 52:12Speaker 13: available that are intriguing over the next couple of days,
- 52:15Speaker 13: and you know, do you take It's the conversation we're
- 52:17Speaker 13: having at edge rusher right, like, do we do you
- 52:19Speaker 13: take a tackle.
- 52:20Speaker 3: At thirty one?
- 52:21Speaker 13: Because you know that the depth of the edge class
- 52:24Speaker 13: means that at sixty three you're probably still going to
- 52:26Speaker 13: get a pretty good pass rusher at sixty three. You know,
- 52:28Speaker 13: are you a team that wants to take Sadik in
- 52:31Speaker 13: the first round or do you feel comfortable with a Stowers,
- 52:34Speaker 13: with a Delp, with a Roush, with a Clayer you know,
- 52:37Speaker 13: a little bit later and then you can pick another
- 52:38Speaker 13: player up at in the first round.
- 52:40Speaker 3: It's just a white conversation we're having at tackle.
- 52:42Speaker 6: Yeah, but I agree. I just don't know why the
- 52:45Speaker 6: opposite wouldn't be true. Like I'm going to take Sadik
- 52:49Speaker 6: because I can get an edge rusher that's just as
- 52:52Speaker 6: good as the one I'm going to get in the twenties,
- 52:54Speaker 6: you know, a little bit later on. I think Sadik
- 52:55Speaker 6: is clearly the best tight end. I don't think there's
- 52:58Speaker 6: I think there's a size gap between one and two.
- 53:01Speaker 6: I'm interested in that Stoppers, Delp or whoever you think
- 53:04Speaker 6: it is.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Claire.
- 53:05Speaker 5: I just I've never seen so much smoke around a
- 53:07Speaker 5: position group going into a draft than we've heard from
- 53:09Speaker 5: the Patriots throughout. I mean, Rabel at the combine, Mike
- 53:12Speaker 5: Rhese reports that Thomas Brown, as you know, the special
- 53:15Speaker 5: tight end guy, going around the country trying to find
- 53:17Speaker 5: the guy. Uh, and it's just a position. I mean
- 53:20Speaker 5: what they had they found Julian Hill. He's got thirty
- 53:22Speaker 5: three catches in three years. You know, he can block,
- 53:25Speaker 5: he can fill a role. But it's an easy way
- 53:27Speaker 5: to get someone on the field for Drake May, an
- 53:30Speaker 5: immediate weapon to compliment him with.
- 53:32Speaker 3: And that's why I find Sadiq just, you know, so appealing.
- 53:34Speaker 3: But I would be fine.
- 53:35Speaker 5: I mean, Max Claire we talked about him today and
- 53:37Speaker 5: he was one of the first guys I kind of
- 53:38Speaker 5: watched and I was like, I really like this guy.
- 53:40Speaker 3: He's just really athletic.
- 53:41Speaker 5: To me, and he was not one of the people
- 53:44Speaker 5: we talked about a lot. And then all of a sudden,
- 53:45Speaker 5: late it felt like people started coming. I was wondering,
- 53:47Speaker 5: I'm like, am I the only person mine on an
- 53:49Speaker 5: island with Max Claire right now? Just like I really
- 53:51Speaker 5: thought he was.
- 53:52Speaker 3: It's coming around, come around now here at the end.
- 53:55Speaker 2: Rake May the most hitting on a right tackle, hitting
- 53:58Speaker 2: on a wide receiver or a J Brown the way he.
- 54:01Speaker 3: Is this year, hitting one, I'd say, hitting on the
- 54:06Speaker 3: hitting on a wide receiver.
- 54:07Speaker 6: Yeah, the white tackle hitting on IM not going to
- 54:09Speaker 6: help him.
- 54:10Speaker 3: I mean, you hope he's not going to help you
- 54:11Speaker 3: this year.
- 54:12Speaker 6: You hope that Will Campbell plays left tackle and pays right, right.
- 54:16Speaker 13: I mean, if I was guaranteed that they were the
- 54:18Speaker 13: wide receiver they were going to take at thirty one
- 54:19Speaker 13: was going to hit, I would be pounding the table
- 54:22Speaker 13: more for the wide receiver, because getting a wide receiver
- 54:26Speaker 13: to grow with Drake May for the next four to
- 54:28Speaker 13: five years at the minimum is the dream.
- 54:30Speaker 3: You know, to have both of those.
- 54:31Speaker 13: Guys on a rookie contract for the next handful of
- 54:34Speaker 13: years is what you want as a team. I just
- 54:38Speaker 13: I'm sorry, I don't have a lot of faith that
- 54:39Speaker 13: they're going to get the wide receiver, right. I don't,
- 54:42Speaker 13: And until they do in the draft specifically, then I
- 54:46Speaker 13: have a hard time, you know, justifying using a high
- 54:49Speaker 13: pick on that. Like if they went out and they
- 54:50Speaker 13: picked Denzel Boston tonight, I think all of us in
- 54:53Speaker 13: the back of our head would have Nikhil Harry and
- 54:55Speaker 13: Jalen Polk and Mike.
- 55:00Speaker 3: I'm sorry, I just like him. I don't know I
- 55:02Speaker 3: like him.
- 55:02Speaker 2: I'm sorry, But is it fair? Is it fair to
- 55:07Speaker 2: judge them by hit that history that's.
- 55:09Speaker 6: There, it's not individual player that they draft.
- 55:13Speaker 3: Is that what you mean.
- 55:15Speaker 4: And Cowen And yeah, I.
- 55:19Speaker 13: Mean this is you know, I like, honestly, you know,
- 55:23Speaker 13: Elliot Wolf drafted Jalen Polk, you know what I'm saying,
- 55:27Speaker 13: saying like, yeah, I mean.
- 55:30Speaker 3: I mean when he was in the room, Well he drafted, drafted.
- 55:34Speaker 4: Maybe I don't know. Maybe I don't know.
- 55:38Speaker 13: He was there, Elliot Wolf drafted Jail But like that,
- 55:43Speaker 13: I I don't know. It just we've been down this
- 55:45Speaker 13: road before with this team. Has nothing to do with
- 55:47Speaker 13: helmets scouting that he went to Washington and Jaen Polk
- 55:50Speaker 13: went to Washington. I'm not doing that whole thing. I
- 55:52Speaker 13: just it's a risk. It's a risk that they got
- 55:55Speaker 13: it right to take the wide receiver again at the
- 55:57Speaker 13: top of the draft, whereas a J.
- 55:58Speaker 3: Brown he's the boat. You know, you know what you're getting.
- 56:02Speaker 3: There's a little bit more of a you know, the
- 56:04Speaker 3: picks the mystery box that could be a boat. Yeah.
- 56:07Speaker 3: And I yet, Fred, I get your point. It's valid.
- 56:09Speaker 6: I do think that the regime itself, you know, it
- 56:15Speaker 6: spans like they took a wide receiver. You know, in
- 56:18Speaker 6: the first two days last year, they took a wide
- 56:20Speaker 6: receiver in the first two days the year before. So
- 56:22Speaker 6: it is partly the people that are around now, It's
- 56:25Speaker 6: not just the Belichick regime. I don't think it would
- 56:28Speaker 6: be fair to Denzel Boston to say they drafted Denzel Boston.
- 56:32Speaker 3: He's going to be a stiff because all the other
- 56:34Speaker 3: That's not fair to the player.
- 56:35Speaker 6: Right, But it is fair to have questions from this
- 56:39Speaker 6: can I just like close one loop that we did
- 56:42Speaker 6: right before Mike Rabel was going to do his press
- 56:45Speaker 6: conference with the media. We were talking about tackles, and
- 56:49Speaker 6: you know the one thing I would say, like, I
- 56:52Speaker 6: am not against taking the tackle in the first round
- 56:55Speaker 6: at thirty one, but I do want a guy that
- 56:58Speaker 6: has the ability to play the left. I don't want
- 57:01Speaker 6: to take a right like a strip Like I'm on
- 57:03Speaker 6: Membu was a really good player for the Jets last
- 57:05Speaker 6: year as a rookie.
- 57:06Speaker 3: He's strictly a right tackle.
- 57:07Speaker 6: I'm not suggesting that you should never take a right
- 57:09Speaker 6: tackle in the first round.
- 57:10Speaker 3: I don't believe that I think you can.
- 57:12Speaker 6: But I would ideally like a tackle that I'm taking
- 57:15Speaker 6: in the first round to have the ability to play
- 57:17Speaker 6: both sides. Yeah, like at least like he was a
- 57:20Speaker 6: left tackle in college. He might project as a right
- 57:22Speaker 6: tackle in the pros. That happens a lot a lot
- 57:24Speaker 6: of guys.
- 57:25Speaker 13: I mean, I don't know if that guy exists at
- 57:27Speaker 13: least where they're going to be drafting because Bike Miller
- 57:29Speaker 13: made fifty four starts.
- 57:30Speaker 3: On the right side.
- 57:31Speaker 13: Yeah, Eanor's experience is on the right side. That worries
- 57:34Speaker 13: me a little bit, like Omu's experience is solely on.
- 57:36Speaker 3: The left side.
- 57:37Speaker 6: Like so he's saying, right, yeah, I know what you're saying,
- 57:40Speaker 6: Like what I'm thinking in myself, and this is not
- 57:42Speaker 6: I know, Fred's probably going to get, you know, upset
- 57:44Speaker 6: at me.
- 57:45Speaker 3: This is not necessarily like.
- 57:46Speaker 6: Oh, you're picking on Will Campbell again, That's not what
- 57:49Speaker 6: I mean. What I'm trying to buy is some insurance,
- 57:52Speaker 6: right right. I want, at minimum, I want a guy
- 57:55Speaker 6: who's going to replace Morgan Moses in twenty seven. But
- 57:58Speaker 6: I also want the ability that if it doesn't work
- 58:00Speaker 6: out with Will Campbell, I have some flexibility to put
- 58:03Speaker 6: him on the left side and then move Will Campbell
- 58:06Speaker 6: either to guard or on the right side or something.
- 58:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I want some to you're saying it's a dream
- 58:10Speaker 3: though it's hard. That's why I want.
- 58:14Speaker 13: I say, there are times where that player does exist.
- 58:17Speaker 6: It's just I don't know if this is the draft
- 58:19Speaker 6: where it does.
- 58:19Speaker 3: You know, never they exist.
- 58:21Speaker 4: But never. At a highlight, I was competent.
- 58:23Speaker 6: I will say, like at this point when I was
- 58:25Speaker 6: watching tackles, and believe it or not, I did watch.
- 58:27Speaker 3: I watched about ten Do you not like? Do you
- 58:30Speaker 3: not like that?
- 58:30Speaker 6: I did that. That's whereat makes me so happy. I
- 58:34Speaker 6: was struck though, with how many guys were right tackles.
- 58:37Speaker 6: I was, you know when I was watching because I
- 58:39Speaker 6: automatically when I put the highlights on, I automatically trained
- 58:42Speaker 6: my eye to go to the left side. And then
- 58:44Speaker 6: there's like the little spot SHATW. I'm like, well, I
- 58:47Speaker 6: would just say, Paul, And that's.
- 58:48Speaker 3: Part of that.
- 58:49Speaker 5: For me with Blake Miller is like, I know it's
- 58:51Speaker 5: going to be hard to thread that needle, but at
- 58:53Speaker 5: the very least, if I can feel like you've got
- 58:55Speaker 5: a right tackle waiting in the wings. If it doesn't
- 58:57Speaker 5: work out on the left side with will that next year,
- 58:59Speaker 5: all right, we're gonna have to find a left tackle.
- 59:00Speaker 3: But at least we found a right tackle this year.
- 59:02Speaker 5: If they don't get one of those guys, they might
- 59:04Speaker 5: be looking at Morgan Moses right retire and after twenty
- 59:07Speaker 5: twenty six, we don't think we'll can play left.
- 59:08Speaker 3: And now we need two tackles, so at least get
- 59:10Speaker 3: me one. At least get me one for the future.
- 59:13Speaker 6: You know, I wonder you know your thing is hard.
- 59:17Speaker 6: I don't know if that now, Bike Miller.
- 59:20Speaker 3: Blake Hill note that one.
- 59:24Speaker 6: Dragon, But Bike Miller can play ball. I'm just classing
- 59:27Speaker 6: right over that. But Bike Miller has the athleticism to
- 59:30Speaker 6: potentially play both sides, Like he's a great athlete and
- 59:33Speaker 6: a really good pass blocker, but he's never done it.
- 59:36Speaker 13: And you know, I remember Dante Scarnekia telling me it's
- 59:40Speaker 13: it's hard. You know, it is hard enough looks to
- 59:43Speaker 13: just flip sides, and so I, I I don't know
- 59:47Speaker 13: if that's.
- 59:47Speaker 3: You know, realistic.
- 59:48Speaker 13: You know, Ianachor is a guy that already needs development
- 59:52Speaker 13: at the position he's currently playing. So now you're throwing there, Okay, well,
- 59:55Speaker 13: now we also want to try to develop him at left.
- 59:58Speaker 13: Like that's asking a lot that a player that people
- 1:00:00Speaker 13: already think is going to be a red shirt player
- 1:00:03Speaker 13: just off of what is he's going to get at
- 1:00:05Speaker 13: right tackle? So I you know, maybe in your scenario,
- 1:00:09Speaker 13: and this is something that I think is really feasible,
- 1:00:12Speaker 13: is that they end up drafting multiple uh. You know,
- 1:00:14Speaker 13: maybe it's one early, one late, and you're not necessarily
- 1:00:17Speaker 13: super confident that the one late is going to hit.
- 1:00:20Speaker 13: But there is a nice sweet spot, let's say, in
- 1:00:22Speaker 13: the fourth round of this draft, fifth round of this draft,
- 1:00:25Speaker 13: where there's a decent amount of tackles.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: All Right, it's the top of the hour, so officially
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: the clock is running uh in Pittsburgh.
- 1:00:33Speaker 4: But let's take a break.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: When we come back, we'll get ready for Roger Goodell
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: and the first pick of the draft, and of course
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: more talk about what the Patriots are going to do
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: right after this.

- 1:03:50Speaker 4: Oh yeah, let's have a right.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: All right, So Roger Goodell's on the stage. But they're
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: doing you know, the Pittsburgh stuff. They get the yellow
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: out there, so we don't we.
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: Don't have to discussion.
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: We don't have to go to that yet.
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: Well we'll wait till there's an actual pick to go
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: to Pittsburgh. But we were talking about what the Patriots
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: might do. Chris and Colfax California rights and you.
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: Know where cold I know the road, but not the town.
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: There's a road, Yeah, probably leads to colefat.
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: Perhaps maybe it's the one guy and perhaps I don't know.
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: Anyway, he says, count me as one of that would
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: love taking Concepcion and adding Brown too. We would immediately
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: have a potentially top three receiving cores in the league
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: and wouldn't have to add anything to it for several years,
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: so you can focus on other needs after that. Add
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: in trading up in the second for jackas am I
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: saying that or Mason Thomas, and you have the old
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: starting holes and will be right back and title contention.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it sounds like a lot of fun. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: I can't deny that it's it's like a lot of fun.
- 1:05:00Speaker 6: I'm not going to rank it where it would be
- 1:05:01Speaker 6: in the league. I think that sounds high to me.
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: But you would have a good, solid core of receivers
- 1:05:07Speaker 6: as good as we think he is, and it would
- 1:05:09Speaker 6: be pretty legit.
- 1:05:10Speaker 3: Yeah, you have some explosiveness.
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: You have you know, a guy in Dobbs you feel like,
- 1:05:13Speaker 5: kind of more of a possession guy, but good hands
- 1:05:15Speaker 5: and you know, has a little bit of size. I
- 1:05:17Speaker 5: mean that's the thing that you know concerns me a
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: little bit. Concepts you army, not tiny, but you know,
- 1:05:21Speaker 5: not the most physically imposing guy either. But again, I
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: always think the receiving room, it's got to be a spectrum.
- 1:05:27Speaker 5: You need a guy with size, You need some small
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: guys with speed. You just hope that you know. But
- 1:05:31Speaker 5: Kyle Williams has got speed. Conception one would have speed. Uh,
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: and then you're starting to really cook.
- 1:05:35Speaker 4: Okay, let's play a little pie in the sky, poor
- 1:05:37Speaker 4: Drake Man.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: I asked the question earlier if you could hit on
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: a wide receiver or right tackle or a J Brown
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: as he is, which would help Drake may First, here's
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: my second question. If you in the first round you
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: can draft a future Pro bowler, what position would you
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: want to draft?
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: Edge? Yeah, I mean you.
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: Any position.
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: Answer doesn't change.
- 1:06:03Speaker 4: Wide receiver, Okay, pro bowler, pro bowler.
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: If you're making the Hate the Pro Bowl. If you're
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: making the Pro.
- 1:06:13Speaker 13: Because I said you're making the Pro Bowl a wide receiver,
- 1:06:16Speaker 13: you're one of the best five or six receivers.
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: So what about tight end?
- 1:06:24Speaker 3: I mean, you know, when you're.
- 1:06:25Speaker 13: Drafting, if you're telling me, if you're drifting a Pro
- 1:06:29Speaker 13: Bowl wide receiver, then that guy has like twelve hundred
- 1:06:31Speaker 13: pus the yards receiving just to be in there.
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: You're talking about Chase, you know, justin Jefferson. Those are
- 1:06:36Speaker 6: you know, like Ceedee Lamb type guys. Those are like
- 1:06:39Speaker 6: tight end.
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:06:41Speaker 6: I mean you could be talking about like Sam la Porter,
- 1:06:43Speaker 6: really good player. Yeah, But like I don't know how
- 1:06:46Speaker 6: much he's making a difference between title or not.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: You know, well, I'm gonna stick with edge though.
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: I just think that's the one position right now that
- 1:06:54Speaker 5: I feel like it is a huge need.
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: It's a long term need.
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: I know there's definitely an argument that you need that
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: impact number one guy.
- 1:07:01Speaker 3: But I also think that when you look at the
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: roster right.
- 1:07:04Speaker 5: Now as constructed, if there's not a spot for Antonio
- 1:07:07Speaker 5: or keep calling I keep going to Antonio, I can't you.
- 1:07:14Speaker 4: Know.
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: But if you could get an all pro edge rusher
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: with Milton Williams and Christian Barber, I mean that is
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: a defense that you're going to run your guys every
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: single time you're It doesn't who's in your secondary Christian
- 1:07:25Speaker 3: is always great, like you know, you could get after
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: that would be my number to choice.
- 1:07:28Speaker 6: So the cop out answer to Fred's question is I'll
- 1:07:31Speaker 6: take a pro bowler.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: It don't matter what center. I don't know he's gonna
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: I guess the first round. I mean, I'm just saying
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: I don't need a punter who goes to the probram.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: I think the.
- 1:07:43Speaker 13: Difference is, you know, I'm looking at it more of
- 1:07:46Speaker 13: like just looking at the value positional value, Which positions,
- 1:07:51Speaker 13: generally speaking, move the needle the.
- 1:07:53Speaker 4: Most, that's going to help you win the most.
- 1:07:55Speaker 6: And quarterback is obviously we have that, we have that
- 1:07:58Speaker 6: right edge rusher, why do we I can I can
- 1:08:01Speaker 6: hear a wide receiver historically has been a little bit
- 1:08:03Speaker 6: more impactful than edge rushers, But you know, quarterback s
- 1:08:08Speaker 6: tier in its own tier. Wide receiver, corner, pass rusher,
- 1:08:12Speaker 6: left tackle a.
- 1:08:13Speaker 13: Kind of in their own grouping. And you if Deuce
- 1:08:15Speaker 13: wants a stack edge ahead of receiver, I don't think
- 1:08:18Speaker 13: that's crazy.
- 1:08:19Speaker 6: And no, no, I think I could hear arguments for both.
- 1:08:21Speaker 6: I'm with Evan on this one. I would take a receiver,
- 1:08:23Speaker 6: but I have no problem getting you know, a really
- 1:08:27Speaker 6: quality pass.
- 1:08:28Speaker 13: Rush the quarterback or help the quarterback. That's that's pretty
- 1:08:32Speaker 13: much it right there.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: So I guess the real question is with this draft,
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: how many Pro Bowlers are in it?
- 1:08:38Speaker 6: Well, you never know, there's there's two All pros All Pro.
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: That's two potential guys that could be among the top
- 1:08:45Speaker 6: five at their position.
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: And are they both top five picks? Love, Well, one.
- 1:08:50Speaker 6: Of them is going to be Downs, and I don't
- 1:08:51Speaker 6: think he's going the top five. Yeah, that's an interesting
- 1:08:54Speaker 6: it's Jeremiah Love and Caleb Downs according to not according
- 1:08:57Speaker 6: to me. I'm not a draft expert. I don't pretend
- 1:08:59Speaker 6: to be that.
- 1:09:00Speaker 13: That's one of the things that makes this draft complicated.
- 1:09:02Speaker 13: I think is the best players in this draft are
- 1:09:05Speaker 13: not at premium positions, you know, just based off of
- 1:09:08Speaker 13: what they.
- 1:09:08Speaker 6: Were in college.
- 1:09:09Speaker 13: Jeremiah Love and Caleb Downs are the two best players
- 1:09:11Speaker 13: in the draft. One is a running back and the
- 1:09:13Speaker 13: other is like a box safety, you know. And how
- 1:09:16Speaker 13: much value is that really for teams? And then I
- 1:09:19Speaker 13: would say you could make an argument that the third
- 1:09:22Speaker 13: best player in the draft is an off ball linebacker
- 1:09:24Speaker 13: in Sonny styles, we got our guy.
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: Well, there's less than five minutes left in the first round.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: We should note that different timing this year. In the
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: first round ten minutes last up to now in the
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: first round. This year it's down to eight minutes in
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: the first round.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: First round takes a little less time.
- 1:09:45Speaker 5: Yeah, are still taking still.
- 1:09:50Speaker 13: I've been selecting Fernando Mendoza since February. Are still on
- 1:09:53Speaker 13: the clock.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: Rights.
- 1:09:55Speaker 6: My guess is this is not I know, I don't
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: like to her Horner or anything, but I guess this
- 1:10:02Speaker 6: has nothing.
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: To do with the Raiders telling them.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: Jeff says, if they bring out all the Hall of
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: Famers for Pittsburgh, the first pick won't happen till midnight
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: after the water Boy comes out.
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: Great email.
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I figured you'd like that.
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: Oh great.
- 1:10:17Speaker 6: I also heard that the equipment guy the nutritionist.
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: I don't think they had a nutritioning coach for the
- 1:10:27Speaker 5: Pittsburgh Steelers in the nineteen seventies.
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: He actually deserves it.
- 1:10:31Speaker 6: He got all the check and legend.
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: By the way, we can get the long snapper for
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: the Pittsburgh Steelers in there. Just uh.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: Anthony and Seattle says, could you imagine the short circuit
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: that Claire in the UK would have if we drafted
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: a tight end named Claire?
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: Yeah? Shoot, I didn't even think of that. You'd hear
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: it from across the pond. She would just exclude.
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: Good pick is in?
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: I wonder who it is.
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: I'm they're showing Fernando Mendoza on the TV and uh
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: this good TV. He will be the new quarterback of
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: the Las Vegas Raiders.
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: The Patriots will see him here this year. I mean
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: assuming he's playing, of course. But I like him.
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: I kind of like what I hope he does well.
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: For taking the best quarterback for so long.
- 1:11:20Speaker 6: No, I just with some of the other movie. I mean,
- 1:11:22Speaker 6: you know, you put something.
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: I think they might have spent a little too much
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: money for some mass that's going out and getting like
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: Linda Ball.
- 1:11:30Speaker 6: Yeah right, I think when you when you're gonna draft
- 1:11:32Speaker 6: a quarterback with the first overall pick, let's get kind
- 1:11:35Speaker 6: of Grabberry a little bit good. But this is as
- 1:11:37Speaker 6: good of a center as you can get, right for sure.
- 1:11:39Speaker 6: So again I think they paid a little too much
- 1:11:41Speaker 6: money for him and whatnot. But you're gonna put Mendoza though,
- 1:11:45Speaker 6: in a situation where he has genty and brock Bowers Like,
- 1:11:49Speaker 6: that's not a terrible position to put a young quarterback into.
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: And they have more AMMO if they wanted.
- 1:11:54Speaker 13: You know, their receiving corps is not great, so if
- 1:11:56Speaker 13: they want to add another receiver, you know, maybe one
- 1:11:58Speaker 13: of his college teammates or something like that. At wide receiver.
- 1:12:01Speaker 13: That's not a bad bet either. I just I look
- 1:12:03Speaker 13: at what they've did. You know, I really liked the
- 1:12:05Speaker 13: linderbotm signing. I thought that he was one of the
- 1:12:08Speaker 13: better free agents available and they went out and got him.
- 1:12:10Speaker 13: They still have Colton Miller to protect his blind side
- 1:12:13Speaker 13: at left tackle. Yeah, and then you have Bowers and
- 1:12:15Speaker 13: Genty as sort of and I.
- 1:12:17Speaker 6: Think that didn't they sign like Jalen Naylor two? We
- 1:12:19Speaker 6: might be a decent complimentary piece NFL NFL caliber receiver,
- 1:12:25Speaker 6: you know. Yeah, yeah, I mean, I'm not saying they're
- 1:12:27Speaker 6: gonna win the Super Bowl and even better, the Bruins
- 1:12:29Speaker 6: just took a one nothing lead for it.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: They did, and that was a rough goal that episode.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: Okay, so it's official, the first overall pick, and he's
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: not there.
- 1:12:51Speaker 4: He's not in Pittsburgh, he's at home.
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: How was his mother is not? Well, she's you know.
- 1:12:59Speaker 3: I saw him at the mine. I was really impressed
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: with him.
- 1:13:01Speaker 5: It comes he comes off a little bit goofy. I
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: would say, you know, he's just kind of generally taking
- 1:13:05Speaker 5: him in. But he nailed that interview at the combine
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: with all the media around, all eyes.
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: Were on him.
- 1:13:09Speaker 6: But really he's a little bit of a quirky personality,
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: and at first, like, I'm not gonna lie.
- 1:13:14Speaker 3: When I first really.
- 1:13:15Speaker 6: Heard him was after the Big Ten championship game, Yeah,
- 1:13:21Speaker 6: and I was like, oh my god, someone's going to
- 1:13:24Speaker 6: take him with the first overall pick. But then you
- 1:13:26Speaker 6: start to see more and more of him and you
- 1:13:28Speaker 6: realize how genuine it is. Yeah, so I'm no longer
- 1:13:33Speaker 6: necessarily put off by that quirkiness.
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: I think that's just him.
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: He's congratulating. They got their doing what everyone knew.
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: Corner. I just I did. Honestly, do you think every
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: team does that?
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: Yes, it seems that way.
- 1:13:52Speaker 6: Especially when you're picking one and you know who, here's
- 1:13:54Speaker 6: no competition.
- 1:13:55Speaker 4: I want to see that. I want to see the
- 1:13:56Speaker 4: team that's like, so we picked and let's move on.
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: You want for twenty years?
- 1:14:00Speaker 6: What do you mean? He build through a party in.
- 1:14:04Speaker 5: The draft room and they I mean, I'm seeing his
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: family crying. It's it's even though everybody knew this was
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: gonna happen, until it actually happens, it doesn't really hit
- 1:14:11Speaker 5: these people. And it's just that's always cool seeing these
- 1:14:13Speaker 5: kids have their you know, their dreams come true.
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: I thought that he.
- 1:14:20Speaker 13: Because of the downplaying of the draft as a whole,
- 1:14:23Speaker 13: I didn't really think Mendoza got the shine of the
- 1:14:26Speaker 13: type of quarterback I think he can be in the league.
- 1:14:28Speaker 13: I mean, you know, they're putting up his height and
- 1:14:30Speaker 13: wide now. The guy's six five, two hundred and thirty
- 1:14:33Speaker 13: pounds like he is, got a great frame on him.
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: He's really well built.
- 1:14:37Speaker 13: He makes a lot of NFL style throws on his tape,
- 1:14:39Speaker 13: deep outs, back shoulders, you know, putting the ball in
- 1:14:42Speaker 13: the right places. Smart kids, got moxie. I just feel
- 1:14:46Speaker 13: like there's a lot of really good things about him.
- 1:14:48Speaker 13: He's probably not the most mobile, which is what maybe
- 1:14:51Speaker 13: takes him out of what some people want in a
- 1:14:54Speaker 13: quarterback nowadays. You know, he's not the Drake may second reaction,
- 1:14:59Speaker 13: broken play creator, but we saw him run a little
- 1:15:03Speaker 13: bit in the National Championship game, and you know, I
- 1:15:05Speaker 13: think he can run a little bit, uh really accurate.
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: I just didn't think that he got.
- 1:15:11Speaker 13: The franchise quarterback buzz that normally the number one pick
- 1:15:15Speaker 13: at that position gets, And I'm not really sure why.
- 1:15:18Speaker 13: I think he's right up there with a lot of
- 1:15:20Speaker 13: those guys.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: I'm just glad that my mock draft is still in town.
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: He never like, I never knew about him until last year. Yeah,
- 1:15:27Speaker 2: what was he like prior years?
- 1:15:28Speaker 13: Well, so he went to cal originally. Yeah, and Craig
- 1:15:31Speaker 13: Woodson was actually one of his teammates. And I talked
- 1:15:34Speaker 13: to Craig Woodson about him last year and he was like, yeah,
- 1:15:37Speaker 13: you know, like in practice, like on scout team and stuff,
- 1:15:39Speaker 13: he just light us up.
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: Just light us up.
- 1:15:41Speaker 6: To your point, there's a little Joe Burrow though, Like
- 1:15:44Speaker 6: Burrow was at Ohio State, went to LSU, had this
- 1:15:47Speaker 6: unbelievable year. I don't think he went into that year
- 1:15:49Speaker 6: on many people's radar. Right all of a sudden, he
- 1:15:51Speaker 6: was the greatest single season college quarterback maybe of the modern.
- 1:15:55Speaker 13: Baker Mayfield did the same thing, you know, sort of
- 1:15:58Speaker 13: one one year one or but the guys that Calousteven
- 1:16:02Speaker 13: to know behind the scenes that he was going to
- 1:16:04Speaker 13: be a really good player. And I remember Woods insane
- 1:16:06Speaker 13: to me, Like you some of the guys were even like, why.
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: Is he not starting for for us right now?
- 1:16:11Speaker 7: You know?
- 1:16:12Speaker 13: Uh so they they saw it coming. But he transfers
- 1:16:14Speaker 13: to Indiana and the rest is history.
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: So apparently the Jets pick is in.
- 1:16:18Speaker 5: It's interesting, I mean un Bailey, Yeah, so we'll be
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: I would lean Bailey.
- 1:16:25Speaker 6: I know, like Reese and Bailey have sort of they've
- 1:16:27Speaker 6: gone back and forth, right, I mean I like Bailey.
- 1:16:30Speaker 3: A lot kind of plug and play.
- 1:16:32Speaker 5: He's going to play on the edge, I mean to
- 1:16:34Speaker 5: the point of Patriots d and tackles. I mean, that's
- 1:16:36Speaker 5: going to be a guy that they're gonna have to block.
- 1:16:38Speaker 5: Will Camp will probably see plenty of him.
- 1:16:40Speaker 13: So if they're taking Bailey, they take well, Reese to
- 1:16:44Speaker 13: me is just more of a project and you have
- 1:16:46Speaker 13: to have a vision of how you want to use
- 1:16:47Speaker 13: him as a player. You know, is he an off
- 1:16:49Speaker 13: ball linebacker? Is he a pass rusher? I think is
- 1:16:51Speaker 13: a conversation that everybody's having. And if I'm you know,
- 1:16:55Speaker 13: their general manager, Darryl Moogie, I'm just a little bit
- 1:16:57Speaker 13: worried about Aaron Glenn's job status frankly, and like, if
- 1:17:02Speaker 13: we're going to draft this project player that we don't
- 1:17:04Speaker 13: really know where he's going to play at. But he's
- 1:17:06Speaker 13: just this raw ball of clay and this great athlete,
- 1:17:09Speaker 13: and I'm not one hundred percent sold on my head coach. Well,
- 1:17:12Speaker 13: a year from now, if we have a new head coach,
- 1:17:14Speaker 13: then are we one hundred percent sure we know what
- 1:17:16Speaker 13: to do with r vel Reese? And how is that
- 1:17:18Speaker 13: going to impact his development? He's younger, he's got more
- 1:17:21Speaker 13: upside than David Bailey. But deduce his point. You know,
- 1:17:24Speaker 13: David Bailey's going to play the edge, and he's played
- 1:17:26Speaker 13: the edge his whole life and that's where he's going
- 1:17:27Speaker 13: to play and he's comfortable there. So, uh, they're different
- 1:17:31Speaker 13: players in that respect. You know, rvel res I think
- 1:17:34Speaker 13: is going to be a pass rusher in the league,
- 1:17:36Speaker 13: but maybe he's one of those guys that's off the
- 1:17:38Speaker 13: ball in early downs and then is on the ball
- 1:17:40Speaker 13: on third down. And if you have a tenuous situation
- 1:17:43Speaker 13: at head coach, that's a little bit difficult.
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: You know, how do you thread that needle?
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: Interesting, Well, here comes Rider Goodell to the tell commissioner
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: that that's the show is.
- 1:17:54Speaker 10: With the second pick in the twenty twenty six NFL Draft,
- 1:17:59Speaker 10: the New York Jets elect David Bailey.
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: Okay, so there we go David Bailey.
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: He stinks he goes to the Jets. All right, now,
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: terrible glad, I'm glad we didn't have to get him.
- 1:18:16Speaker 13: So I like David Bailey, I you know, I don't
- 1:18:20Speaker 13: know if you know, he's the most explosive, the best bender,
- 1:18:25Speaker 13: you know, off the edge, but he can go through
- 1:18:28Speaker 13: your speed to power. He's got enough sudden, it's enough
- 1:18:30Speaker 13: twitch off the ball to win with a little bit
- 1:18:32Speaker 13: of speed. Obviously extremely productive last year and you know,
- 1:18:36Speaker 13: one of the better players in college football all of
- 1:18:39Speaker 13: last year for one of the better teams. It just
- 1:18:41Speaker 13: made the most sense to me from the Jets perspective
- 1:18:43Speaker 13: of like, this was the safest pick from them to make.
- 1:18:46Speaker 13: You know, Yeah, they could have bet on r VL
- 1:18:49Speaker 13: Reese's upside, they could have you know, gone in that direction,
- 1:18:52Speaker 13: but I think it would have been you know, difficult
- 1:18:56Speaker 13: to figure out how to use him.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: So with the Jets taking him, the first thing you
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: think about it is, uh, you know, that's another guy
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: that's gonna big will Well that he's gonna have to
- 1:19:04Speaker 2: worry about, and Drake May is gonna.
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: Have to worry about.
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: Yeah. Sure.
- 1:19:07Speaker 5: I mean it's gonna be a long road for the
- 1:19:08Speaker 5: Jets and I don't know if they'll ever I mean,
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: what year is this of the rebuild we're.
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: Getting on your like fifty is sixty nine been a
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: little bit.
- 1:19:17Speaker 5: A while, but I you guys know, I don't watch
- 1:19:18Speaker 5: a lot of college football during the season, but there
- 1:19:20Speaker 5: was I think one of the playoff games I watched
- 1:19:22Speaker 5: with him, and it was just like, Oh, that's a dude.
- 1:19:24Speaker 3: That's a dude. I mean, it's just it's obvious in
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: some of these games.
- 1:19:26Speaker 6: Where you're like, that's how you do it. Yeah, that's
- 1:19:28Speaker 6: how I do that's my draft. I watch games like
- 1:19:31Speaker 6: that guy's pretty good.
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: Oh a second overall pick, Yeah, he looks pretty good.
- 1:19:34Speaker 3: Then he comes in and he's like, so this guy
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: on Texas text.
- 1:19:40Speaker 6: And I asked the dorks and you know how highly
- 1:19:43Speaker 6: they regarded and.
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: It's like, oh my god, I've been tracking him since.
- 1:19:46Speaker 4: Great.
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I like him a lot too.
- 1:19:48Speaker 13: Now am I sitting here as a Patriots fan and
- 1:19:50Speaker 13: being like, oh no, no, Like this is not Miles
- 1:19:55Speaker 13: Garrett von Miller And that's not what they're drafting here.
- 1:19:57Speaker 13: But he's a good player, and if you want to
- 1:19:59Speaker 13: take it, definitely not the Miles gap whatever, but like,
- 1:20:02Speaker 13: if you want to take it a step further to
- 1:20:03Speaker 13: like go back to their sort of deconstruction last year, right,
- 1:20:10Speaker 13: you know, well, you know Quentin Williams and uh, you
- 1:20:13Speaker 13: know that they uh which one of them I think
- 1:20:15Speaker 13: was it Will McDonald or.
- 1:20:16Speaker 4: Jermaine Johnson, which they're all clapping, which one.
- 1:20:19Speaker 6: Of them that they they went first trade this year,
- 1:20:22Speaker 6: like they traded in the off season, they traded one
- 1:20:24Speaker 6: of jama Jermaine Johnson went to to Salah right in Tennessee.
- 1:20:29Speaker 6: So this is like, even if he's a good player,
- 1:20:33Speaker 6: and I think he is, you're kind of just replacing
- 1:20:36Speaker 6: what you just did. So it's not to use your phrase,
- 1:20:40Speaker 6: it's it's not an oh no.
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: The Jets are on the right trying to getting back
- 1:20:44Speaker 5: to a level not right building on top of I
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: don't need a piece.
- 1:20:48Speaker 13: Yeah, I mean, Jermaine Johnson is probably more edge setter.
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:20:53Speaker 13: David Bailey can rush the passer a lot better, I
- 1:20:55Speaker 13: would say, than Jermaine Johnson. But you know, I I
- 1:20:58Speaker 13: think that, Like I said, I'm not sitting here being like,
- 1:21:01Speaker 13: oh no, they got David Bailey.
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: I don't feel that way.
- 1:21:05Speaker 13: But you know, I thought Ruben Band was a better
- 1:21:08Speaker 13: prospect than David Bailey. And I understand that people have
- 1:21:11Speaker 13: concerns about the length and all that with Ruben baind
- 1:21:14Speaker 13: I Rubin Bain was dominant.
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: I thought David Bailey was good.
- 1:21:16Speaker 2: David in Texas is the nonchalant way. Paul said, well,
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: I'm happy my draft board is still right, laughing amovies.
- 1:21:24Speaker 3: Thank you.
- 1:21:25Speaker 6: Yeah, It's only a matter of time before I run
- 1:21:27Speaker 6: out of gas, so I have to get all the
- 1:21:29Speaker 6: good stuff out early.
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: Who's the Scott writes in he says, given the level
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: of talent, would it not make sense to draft for
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: twenty twenty seven and beyond a developmental swing tackle that
- 1:21:41Speaker 2: can submit guard, same at safety, tight end, linebacker, cornerback,
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: et cetera.
- 1:21:45Speaker 4: All of these positions are.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: Going out and are aging out in the year or two,
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: so developmental rotational players would make sense to me. Here
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: is where Evans says that when we pick at twenty
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: two next year, we can take shots at better place
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: players and get a fatty for goal line.
- 1:22:02Speaker 13: Now, of course, I would just say outside of the
- 1:22:05Speaker 13: first round, fine, like the first round pick, I want
- 1:22:08Speaker 13: them to draft somebody that's going to be able to
- 1:22:09Speaker 13: make an impact on the team.
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: Once they get into day's two and three.
- 1:22:13Speaker 13: That's where you pick your developmental pipeline players like that's
- 1:22:17Speaker 13: when you go and you draft your set, your second
- 1:22:19Speaker 13: tight end, who hopefully is going to succeed Hunter Henry,
- 1:22:22Speaker 13: your safety that's hopefully going to succeed Kevin Bayern, your
- 1:22:25Speaker 13: linebacker that's going.
- 1:22:26Speaker 6: To be the air to Robert Spulane's thrown.
- 1:22:28Speaker 15: Like.
- 1:22:29Speaker 13: That's when you do that the first round tonight. If
- 1:22:32Speaker 13: they picked tonight, you hope that that player is going
- 1:22:34Speaker 13: to be a little bit more than just down the line.
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: This guy's gonna play.
- 1:22:38Speaker 6: I would just argue that, you know, whether or not
- 1:22:41Speaker 6: this is a deep or you know, a talented draft class.
- 1:22:45Speaker 6: If let's just say the draft experts are right, it's
- 1:22:48Speaker 6: not an overly talented class. I don't think that that
- 1:22:50Speaker 6: lent itself more to developmental players. That means there's not
- 1:22:53Speaker 6: that much talent in the class. If they're right, they're right, Like,
- 1:22:56Speaker 6: that doesn't mean, well, there's not that much talent in
- 1:22:59Speaker 6: the class. So we can take all these players that
- 1:23:01Speaker 6: we don't need this year because they'll be good next year,
- 1:23:04Speaker 6: do you know what I mean? Yeah, that's how it works.
- 1:23:06Speaker 13: The way it was described to me with this draft
- 1:23:08Speaker 13: is that you want to get on base, you want
- 1:23:10Speaker 13: to hit singles and doubles, and I think that's exactly
- 1:23:12Speaker 13: what the Jets just did with David Bailey.
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: They got on base with the player.
- 1:23:16Speaker 13: This is not the type of draft, at least the
- 1:23:18Speaker 13: way that it was described to me, that you want
- 1:23:20Speaker 13: to take too many real home runs.
- 1:23:22Speaker 6: R Vel Reeves could be a better player, but if
- 1:23:24Speaker 6: he's you know, the way Evan described in the last
- 1:23:27Speaker 6: segment there, if he really wants to be an off
- 1:23:29Speaker 6: ball linebacker, and there's questions is exactly how you're going
- 1:23:32Speaker 6: to use him.
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: He has a little bit more boom er bus potential.
- 1:23:37Speaker 6: I think he might be a better player, but he
- 1:23:40Speaker 6: also might be one of those guys that just doesn't
- 1:23:41Speaker 6: really fit in one specific spot. So he's good at everything,
- 1:23:44Speaker 6: but not great at any. I don't know, but I
- 1:23:47Speaker 6: do like.
- 1:23:48Speaker 5: Is unreasonable, though, despite it being a bad draft, despite
- 1:23:52Speaker 5: there's not a lot of six round picks that hit,
- 1:23:54Speaker 5: but there are teams every year that hit on six
- 1:23:57Speaker 5: round picks in bad draft years.
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: There are teams that those gems in Those are the
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: good teams.
- 1:24:02Speaker 5: Those are the teams that have the scouting staff that
- 1:24:05Speaker 5: can give you the talent you need to win games.
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: And you can find those gems late.
- 1:24:08Speaker 4: And the coaching once he gets there, right, And so.
- 1:24:10Speaker 5: I just I we're only seeing the second year of
- 1:24:14Speaker 5: this whole regime, and I think Devin's point, Yes, the
- 1:24:16Speaker 5: top are about immediate impact, but I'd love to see
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: them be able to fill some of those needs that
- 1:24:21Speaker 5: you rattled off long term, because that's what they did
- 1:24:24Speaker 5: last year.
- 1:24:24Speaker 13: They signed non premium positions where you can let it
- 1:24:27Speaker 13: fall to you.
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: Here comes Roger Goodell announced the Cardinals with the third
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: pick of the first round.
- 1:24:34Speaker 10: With the third pick in the twenty twenty six NFL Draft,
- 1:24:39Speaker 10: the Arizona Cardinals select Jerem No.
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: That's a little bit of a yeah. I thought they
- 1:24:46Speaker 3: were going to go read what me.
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: Jer Okay, So the Cardinals take a running back with
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: the third pick.
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: Now, this guy's good.
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: Some people think he's the best player in the draft.
- 1:24:58Speaker 13: You know, he's in category I would say with a
- 1:25:02Speaker 13: gent with a Saquon Barkley like that kind of prospect
- 1:25:05Speaker 13: coming out. Can run the football between the tackles, but
- 1:25:08Speaker 13: can catch it to great contact, balance, great speed in
- 1:25:11Speaker 13: the open field, great versatility.
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: Uh, he's legit. He's a very very good player. It's
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: high for running back, is it?
- 1:25:22Speaker 4: A risky pick.
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: It's a little high for the running back.
- 1:25:26Speaker 13: What they certainly got on base, Like, there's no doubt
- 1:25:28Speaker 13: that they're going to like get a great player out
- 1:25:30Speaker 13: of Jeremiah Love. But you know, just call a spade
- 1:25:34Speaker 13: a spade. What did what did the Raiders do last
- 1:25:36Speaker 13: year when they drafted Ash and Genty? What was their record?
- 1:25:39Speaker 13: You know, in a similar position. So so maybe there's
- 1:25:43Speaker 13: a you know, there's a building block, there's a pillar,
- 1:25:45Speaker 13: you know. I they just took Mendoza and now Genty
- 1:25:48Speaker 13: and Bowers and like they have you know, they're going somewhere.
- 1:25:51Speaker 13: And maybe that's what the Cardinals are thinking. And a
- 1:25:53Speaker 13: year from now they'll get their quarterback and he'll have
- 1:25:55Speaker 13: a running back to hand the ball off to.
- 1:25:57Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:25:58Speaker 3: I don't I don't love it.
- 1:26:00Speaker 4: I do.
- 1:26:00Speaker 3: I think Jeremiah Love is a good player.
- 1:26:02Speaker 6: I'm not a big I still like top five.
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: Running back guy I'm gonna be I don't know.
- 1:26:09Speaker 6: Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but you know, I wouldn't
- 1:26:12Speaker 6: have I wouldn't have taken almost any of these guys
- 1:26:14Speaker 6: that went as high as they did, like say Kwon Barkley.
- 1:26:16Speaker 6: I wouldn't have done that. Again, guy's been a really
- 1:26:18Speaker 6: good player. I mean, do you ever if I had
- 1:26:20Speaker 6: to do it over again, I still wouldn't take him
- 1:26:21Speaker 6: when the Giants took them.
- 1:26:22Speaker 3: Do you ever look at it through the lens of
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: these guys are in?
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: I mean, they are probably three toughest teams, like you know,
- 1:26:27Speaker 5: one of the toughest divisions in the league, if not
- 1:26:29Speaker 5: the toughest. I tend to always think about those things
- 1:26:32Speaker 5: like does this help you against Seattle Sanrances Not now.
- 1:26:35Speaker 5: I mean, it's probably gonna be a while before you're
- 1:26:37Speaker 5: able to really compete with those.
- 1:26:39Speaker 6: When when you're down seventeen in the second quarter and
- 1:26:41Speaker 6: you're establishing Jeremiah Love between.
- 1:26:44Speaker 13: The line in Arizona, they Paris Campbell on one sider,
- 1:26:48Speaker 13: Paris Johnson.
- 1:26:49Speaker 3: Sorry, he's a good player. I think with Jeremiah Love.
- 1:26:53Speaker 13: It's one of those drafts where you know, I said
- 1:26:56Speaker 13: it before, like you don't want to reach on a
- 1:26:59Speaker 13: guy you know that you're hoping is going to project,
- 1:27:02Speaker 13: like this is a really safe pick, like that he's
- 1:27:04Speaker 13: going to be a good player.
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: Is he Is he going to move the needle?
- 1:27:08Speaker 13: I don't know, Like that's a running back thing that's
- 1:27:10Speaker 13: not a Jeremiah Love thing. But there's no doubt that
- 1:27:12Speaker 13: they're going to hit on the player. It's just a
- 1:27:14Speaker 13: matter of how much is he really going to impact winning?
- 1:27:17Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:27:17Speaker 5: I mean, look, they don't have a quarterback. I mean
- 1:27:18Speaker 5: not Jacobe PRIs said our old friend. But you know,
- 1:27:21Speaker 5: Kendrick Bourne was one of their additions. But you know,
- 1:27:23Speaker 5: Marvin Harrison, I know he's been a disappointment, but Trey
- 1:27:26Speaker 5: McBride's been really good.
- 1:27:27Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean, way of course.
- 1:27:29Speaker 6: Why I would have gone defense. There's good I mean,
- 1:27:31Speaker 6: there's some good players. Like I mean, I don't I
- 1:27:34Speaker 6: think he's a good player. I don't think he'll be
- 1:27:36Speaker 6: a buster or anything like that. I don't think he's
- 1:27:38Speaker 6: going to be Leonard Fournett, who, by the way, was
- 1:27:39Speaker 6: also a top five pick.
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: I just I don't.
- 1:27:45Speaker 6: I'm stubborn. I'm stubborn. I don't like running backs.
- 1:27:48Speaker 13: That As as the resident nerd, I have to agree
- 1:27:50Speaker 13: with you, Paul, like it's not the smart thing to
- 1:27:54Speaker 13: do from a positional value standpoint. But the other thing
- 1:27:57Speaker 13: that a lot of people have said about this draft is,
- 1:27:59Speaker 13: you know, positional value, you might want to throw it
- 1:28:02Speaker 13: out in the year like this because there isn't those
- 1:28:04Speaker 13: blue chip players and Jeremiah Love and Caleb Downs are
- 1:28:07Speaker 13: blue chip players. They just happened to play non premium positions.
- 1:28:11Speaker 13: And it's just one of those types of years. So
- 1:28:13Speaker 13: who knows.
- 1:28:14Speaker 4: Logan and Myrtle beach back to the Patriots.
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: He said, do you think that Big Mike Michael when
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: you could be involved with the trade for a J.
- 1:28:22Speaker 4: Brown.
- 1:28:25Speaker 5: I hope not totally, but I don't there's not really
- 1:28:27Speaker 5: much depth behind the guard position.
- 1:28:29Speaker 3: Well, I just don't know what value is that giving
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: the trade.
- 1:28:33Speaker 6: Well that and uh, I don't I don't know what
- 1:28:36Speaker 6: the Eagle situation was in free agency.
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: Did they lose Not that I know.
- 1:28:40Speaker 13: But as guard, I just don't really know is.
- 1:28:45Speaker 3: Going in the trade.
- 1:28:47Speaker 13: His value is a fifth round pick maybe, Like I
- 1:28:50Speaker 13: I don't know, Like I'm trying to figure out how
- 1:28:53Speaker 13: that that really moves the needle in the trade. And
- 1:28:56Speaker 13: I think you're still giving up what you're giving up
- 1:28:58Speaker 13: at the top of the trade to get the player.
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: Evan, what did you say, probably in Catch twenty two
- 1:29:05Speaker 2: about Zion Young Because Greg writes in I consider Evan
- 1:29:09Speaker 2: being wrong about Zion Young more.
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: Of a probability than a possibility. Are you not up on.
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: Zion probability versus a possibility?
- 1:29:17Speaker 4: So I don't it was what was your standon?
- 1:29:20Speaker 6: Is an edge guy who was more of a run
- 1:29:22Speaker 6: defender than a pass Yeah, maybe that's what.
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: I don't remember the phrasing that he's using exactly.
- 1:29:26Speaker 5: Sorry, I'm gonna preemptively blame Evan if they picked Zion
- 1:29:29Speaker 5: Young too. He talked me out of Zion Young initially,
- 1:29:32Speaker 5: initially I was on him, and then.
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: You're gonna blame Evan. I don't care if I still
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: don't see it. No, and I got off of him.
- 1:29:38Speaker 3: I mean, I I.
- 1:29:39Speaker 6: Think it was more in love with at the edge,
- 1:29:41Speaker 6: and then we're gonna draft Zion Young.
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: It doesn't make anything. I I didn't put him on
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: the big board, don't worry.
- 1:29:45Speaker 5: But but you were the one initially who put like
- 1:29:47Speaker 5: poke some holes in him, and I was like, I
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: think that was a player that I was projecting my
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: wants onto him, saying, oh he's you know, he's got
- 1:29:53Speaker 5: good size and you know part.
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: Of it too that we talked about over the course
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: of this process.
- 1:29:57Speaker 5: Is that the dimensions have change for what they're looking
- 1:29:59Speaker 5: for and that certainly changed when Elliott was like, well,
- 1:30:02Speaker 5: I think we could compliment that room with some speed,
- 1:30:03Speaker 5: and I think.
- 1:30:04Speaker 3: That was when you were like goodbye, yeah, I mean
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: I was.
- 1:30:07Speaker 13: Keldric Faulk was like, I never thought he was off
- 1:30:10Speaker 13: to my board to begin with. Right away, right after
- 1:30:12Speaker 13: he was trying to pick up the little baggies at
- 1:30:15Speaker 13: the combine when they do the.
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: Hoop drill and he couldn't get down there.
- 1:30:19Speaker 13: It was just I was like, yeah, bye, yeah. Zion
- 1:30:23Speaker 13: Young the same kind of way, same kind of player,
- 1:30:26Speaker 13: the projection, the thing I think he's he meant. I
- 1:30:30Speaker 13: didn't say that about Zion Young. I said that about
- 1:30:32Speaker 13: Oscar Delp, who I said was more of a projection
- 1:30:35Speaker 13: than what he is right now because he didn't have
- 1:30:37Speaker 13: a lot of receiving production.
- 1:30:38Speaker 4: Here's the Titans selection.
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: I got a surprise fourth pick in.
- 1:30:41Speaker 10: The twenty twenty six NFL Draft. The Tennessee Titans select Carnal.
- 1:30:47Speaker 13: Nail Nails out, Yes, sir, we did our mock drafts
- 1:30:54Speaker 13: on Catch twenty two, our top ten mock drafts, and
- 1:30:57Speaker 13: I said they're going to take Carnel Tait And Bartha
- 1:31:00Speaker 13: was like, if you say that, if they take Carnel Tate.
- 1:31:03Speaker 13: He looked it up and only three people had mocked
- 1:31:06Speaker 13: Carnel Tate out of like a hundred you know, mock
- 1:31:08Speaker 13: draft in the second Draft database. And he was like,
- 1:31:12Speaker 13: if that, you'll be like one of the only ones
- 1:31:14Speaker 13: that had that. And I was like, they have a young.
- 1:31:17Speaker 4: In your Monck draft one point oh two seven.
- 1:31:21Speaker 3: Seven point one. That was the third version.
- 1:31:23Speaker 13: I only did one top ten mock draft. It was
- 1:31:26Speaker 13: on Catch twenty two on Wednesday, is the only one I.
- 1:31:28Speaker 3: Did the part about it.
- 1:31:29Speaker 6: I think that Jeremiah Love was a and I think
- 1:31:32Speaker 6: an often mocked guy to Tennessee, so makes sense they
- 1:31:38Speaker 6: were looking for an offensive weapon.
- 1:31:40Speaker 13: I just felt like, to you know your side of
- 1:31:42Speaker 13: the street, Paul, you have this young quarterback in cam Ward.
- 1:31:45Speaker 13: You're trying to make cam Ward operational and give him
- 1:31:48Speaker 13: as much help as you possibly can. I'm anti running back,
- 1:31:51Speaker 13: so I was like, why would you give him a
- 1:31:52Speaker 13: running back that's not going to.
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: Help him much?
- 1:31:54Speaker 13: What about the best wide receiver in the draft in
- 1:31:57Speaker 13: Carnel Tate. Well, I think has some of the best
- 1:31:59Speaker 13: hands you know in this draft by far, just really
- 1:32:02Speaker 13: good hands catcher.
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: I can go up and get.
- 1:32:04Speaker 13: The football but really plucks the ball and sort of
- 1:32:07Speaker 13: doesn't fight it.
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: I really like that about him.
- 1:32:10Speaker 13: But I think in general, like it just makes a
- 1:32:13Speaker 13: lot of sense that if you have this young quarterback
- 1:32:15Speaker 13: that you're trying to get off the ground and cam Ward,
- 1:32:18Speaker 13: to give him a wide receiver like Carnel Tita.
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: I thought it made sense. Even if Jeremiah Love was
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: on the ball.
- 1:32:23Speaker 6: And they had some young guys that did some stuff
- 1:32:25Speaker 6: last year, Buffalo just tied him. I know, they had
- 1:32:27Speaker 6: some some guys that, you know, it was a d
- 1:32:31Speaker 6: K and who's the tight end. I'm thinking that Texas
- 1:32:34Speaker 6: tight end Helm Gunner, Heelm.
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: Gunner, Heelm.
- 1:32:36Speaker 6: So they had some young guys that you know, made
- 1:32:38Speaker 6: some place. Tony Pollard's a you know, a serviceable NFL
- 1:32:41Speaker 6: running back.
- 1:32:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: Him and Ridley, I mean that's not, you know, not
- 1:32:43Speaker 5: a bad place. I mean they got a ways to go,
- 1:32:45Speaker 5: so Ridley yeah.
- 1:32:46Speaker 13: Yeah, Ridley is you know, getting a little bit older.
- 1:32:48Speaker 13: I just felt like with with Ward, it you know,
- 1:32:51Speaker 13: made the most sense to give him a weapon, and
- 1:32:53Speaker 13: I just didn't want to give them a running back
- 1:32:55Speaker 13: because I don't want to do that to them.
- 1:32:56Speaker 6: I want to give them more hope than that.
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: Ben and Hershey Pennsylvania has some interesting thoughts about who
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: really is the final decision maker here at the Patriots
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: when it comes to drafted. She says, most of intimated
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: that Rabel has been the final decision maker when building
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: the roster, but all signs since his hiring would point
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: to the contrary. We know that Wolf's contract explicitly gives
- 1:33:16Speaker 2: him that power, but a lot of pundits claim its
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: formality and Rabel still holds the ultimate power. Now, knowing
- 1:33:23Speaker 2: that Rabel won't even be in the team's war room
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: on day three, can we once and for all put
- 1:33:28Speaker 2: to bed that he has the final say. Isn't it
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: clear that since Bill left that's been Wolfe's responsibility.
- 1:33:34Speaker 4: Rabel clearly has significant input.
- 1:33:36Speaker 2: But when the name is written on the card, it
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: seems pretty obvious that it's not Rabel's handwriting. If anyone
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: still thinks it is, what makes you think that what
- 1:33:45Speaker 2: evidence suggests that Rabel has the ability to overrule wolf
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: on any personnel decisions?
- 1:33:50Speaker 20: I would say that he's the head coach and the
- 1:33:55Speaker 20: team is going to play schematically stylistically in the vision
- 1:33:59Speaker 20: of Mike Rabel.
- 1:34:01Speaker 13: So, and we've talked about Elliott Wolf. We've talked to
- 1:34:04Speaker 13: him about this. He's drafting players that Mike Rabel is
- 1:34:09Speaker 13: gonna want to coach, So I like, I don't like
- 1:34:12Speaker 13: to me, it's semantics, right, Like whoever is making the
- 1:34:15Speaker 13: finals say, I think is kind of semantics because I
- 1:34:18Speaker 13: don't think Elliott Wolf is actively trying to draft players
- 1:34:20Speaker 13: that Mike Rabel doesn't have a role for, it doesn't
- 1:34:24Speaker 13: have a vision for as a player. I don't think
- 1:34:26Speaker 13: that that's the business that he is in, is just
- 1:34:28Speaker 13: to force players on his coaches and say, I just
- 1:34:31Speaker 13: really like this guy, so I'm going to take them,
- 1:34:32Speaker 13: even though Rabel doesn't like him and McDaniels doesn't like him,
- 1:34:35Speaker 13: and you know whatever, Well, that's.
- 1:34:37Speaker 5: Why I might be if we go back to what
- 1:34:39Speaker 5: we talked about earlier, you know, with Wolf selecting Jalen Polk,
- 1:34:42Speaker 5: and it's well, yeah, but maybe I can give Elliot
- 1:34:45Speaker 5: Wolf a little bit of grace on that one, because well,
- 1:34:47Speaker 5: what kind of message were the coaching staff telling him
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: what kind of player do we want? What's you know,
- 1:34:51Speaker 5: was that a clear vision of what they were trying
- 1:34:53Speaker 5: to build there? So you know, look at the end
- 1:34:55Speaker 5: of the day, they still picked him. But you know,
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: it's a it's just a complicated thing. And who with
- 1:35:00Speaker 5: the thing on. I mean, it's probably some assistant like that,
- 1:35:02Speaker 5: this is the right. I mean, I see how many
- 1:35:03Speaker 5: times you see somebody be like, here's the name.
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: Has nothing. I mean, I didn't say that wasn't his point.
- 1:35:08Speaker 13: So he even said that in his pre draft press
- 1:35:12Speaker 13: conference that they bring guys in for thirty visits just
- 1:35:14Speaker 13: try to sell Rabel on the player, because the scouting
- 1:35:17Speaker 13: department really likes the players. So they bring the guy
- 1:35:20Speaker 13: in and hope that he wins over Rabel.
- 1:35:22Speaker 6: So I guess the Giants pick is in and then
- 1:35:24Speaker 6: Cleveland is up six.
- 1:35:25Speaker 3: Then they've traded with Kansas City.
- 1:35:27Speaker 13: So the trade did happen. They were rumored to be
- 1:35:29Speaker 13: trying to trade out of that pick.
- 1:35:30Speaker 6: You know, I at the at the behest and the
- 1:35:33Speaker 6: request of everybody, I.
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: Will not say anything.
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: Well, says Fred, I see you're paying just jump the pick.
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: Are you all trying to not tip the pick? Or
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: is the Knight still young? You all announced it after
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: I saw it on the tube. Let the Patriots fans
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: cry if they don't like it.
- 1:35:47Speaker 4: Well, I mean, the round's going.
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: Pretty fast, so it's not like they haven't. If you
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: want to say the Giants pick, go ahead and say it.
- 1:35:54Speaker 6: Okay, r v L rees the Giants took, which I
- 1:35:57Speaker 6: think strongly he puts in their edge guy, Like if
- 1:36:01Speaker 6: he's gonna if is going to be an edge guy,
- 1:36:03Speaker 6: then you know what's good on the horn with Kevon Tibbadau. Yeah, absolutely,
- 1:36:08Speaker 6: I mean they they just traded Sexy Dexy.
- 1:36:11Speaker 3: He's out of that defensive line. Uh. Now they add Reese.
- 1:36:15Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:36:15Speaker 13: It seems to me like that that's the next logical
- 1:36:18Speaker 13: domino to fall.
- 1:36:20Speaker 6: It looks like that trade, by the way, that the
- 1:36:22Speaker 6: Chiefs are going to get six, you know, the Browns
- 1:36:24Speaker 6: will get nine. Uh.
- 1:36:25Speaker 3: In addition they'll get seventy four.
- 1:36:27Speaker 5: And that's a fun I mean Abdul Carter and him,
- 1:36:29Speaker 5: I mean, those are those are some fun guys to watch.
- 1:36:31Speaker 3: And I think the Giants burns.
- 1:36:33Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm a little surprised by that pick.
- 1:36:35Speaker 13: I I thought maybe Jeremiah Love going at three, you know,
- 1:36:41Speaker 13: and r VL Reese falling is what kind of forced this.
- 1:36:44Speaker 3: Hand on the Giants.
- 1:36:45Speaker 13: I kind of thought that Harbaugh would want to go
- 1:36:48Speaker 13: with somebody that's more than to set a tone.
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: That was question have the power, yes, And I thought
- 1:36:55Speaker 3: that he was going to have But who writes it
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: on the I'm just kidding.
- 1:36:58Speaker 13: I thought that he would want to draft somebody that
- 1:37:00Speaker 13: was gonna sort of like set a tone for the program,
- 1:37:03Speaker 13: you know, like whether it was an offensive lineman or
- 1:37:05Speaker 13: I thought maybe running back because they were going to
- 1:37:07Speaker 13: build it through the run game like he did in Baltimore.
- 1:37:09Speaker 13: That doesn't really drive with the rvel Reeves. Who is
- 1:37:12Speaker 13: you know, a specimen, but not necessarily someone that is
- 1:37:15Speaker 13: going to like come in and you know, grab the
- 1:37:18Speaker 13: The Giants.
- 1:37:19Speaker 5: Is just one of those teams that really stacking talent,
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: you know, and just can they put it all together?
- 1:37:23Speaker 6: So I've seen Yeah, to your point, Mike, I've seen
- 1:37:25Speaker 6: the Giants. I don't know if this is going to happen.
- 1:37:27Speaker 6: I don't know if anybody that says this knows what
- 1:37:29Speaker 6: they're talking about. But they identified the Giants as one
- 1:37:32Speaker 6: of those quote unquote bad teams that could get good,
- 1:37:35Speaker 6: really really.
- 1:37:36Speaker 13: Quick healthy, right. I mean, I think it's because he's
- 1:37:41Speaker 13: a good coach. They have talent on defense, they have
- 1:37:44Speaker 13: talent on offense. You know, Lak Neighbors is gonna come back.
- 1:37:47Speaker 13: I'm just not sold on the quarterback.
- 1:37:49Speaker 6: He never forget that that Neighbors got hurt as early
- 1:37:52Speaker 6: as he did too. Yeah that really, you know, but
- 1:37:55Speaker 6: they lost a lot to they lost Robinson. You know,
- 1:37:59Speaker 6: we'll see if that maybe they can run the ball
- 1:38:01Speaker 6: with with Fred's guy's cab.
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: He's the number one now, I mean, he's healthy.
- 1:38:05Speaker 13: I just didn't I'm not sold on the quarterback there
- 1:38:08Speaker 13: yet half a season.
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: And I thought he showed less and that than Drake
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: did his rookie year.
- 1:38:14Speaker 13: Like I think that's fair. Yeah, and so I I
- 1:38:16Speaker 13: just I don't know, you know, to pick him as
- 1:38:19Speaker 13: that turnaround team. The Patriots were that turnaround team because
- 1:38:22Speaker 13: Drake made me leap.
- 1:38:23Speaker 6: I thought more of Dart's success was kind of running
- 1:38:26Speaker 6: around like an athlete, kind of crazy than late that day,
- 1:38:31Speaker 6: do you know what I mean. Yeah, Now, Dart had
- 1:38:34Speaker 6: some good games too, Like he played he didn't play
- 1:38:37Speaker 6: well at all against the Patriots, and that did.
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: But he had that game like in Denver.
- 1:38:42Speaker 6: Yeah, the Broncos dead and buried that they somehow lost
- 1:38:45Speaker 6: that game, but he played really well in that game.
- 1:38:48Speaker 6: I'm kind of with Evan, though, I would say that
- 1:38:49Speaker 6: that Drake may showed more in his first year running
- 1:38:53Speaker 6: around with nothing, not a lot of help than than
- 1:38:55Speaker 6: Dart did.
- 1:38:56Speaker 5: I forgot they about Isaiah likely and so and yeah,
- 1:38:59Speaker 5: he's another one Johnson that was. I mean, he's a
- 1:39:01Speaker 5: good connection between those two. So it's starting to build
- 1:39:03Speaker 5: something there.
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: We'll see.
- 1:39:04Speaker 13: I think what's interesting about this trade with the Browns
- 1:39:07Speaker 13: unless we want to take this even though we already
- 1:39:09Speaker 13: tipped the pick. Uh, it wasn't that much for the
- 1:39:12Speaker 13: Chiefs to go up to Cleveland. It was seventy fourth,
- 1:39:17Speaker 13: seventy fourth overall pick and one forty eight overall to
- 1:39:20Speaker 13: go from nine to six. It's not that it's not
- 1:39:23Speaker 13: a ton you know, third, a third and a fifth, fifth,
- 1:39:28Speaker 13: third in the fifth to the Browns overall.
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:39:31Speaker 5: But in the twenty twenty six NFL Draft, the New
- 1:39:34Speaker 5: York Football Giants.
- 1:39:36Speaker 10: Select Rvel Reese linebacker from the Ohio State University.
- 1:39:43Speaker 6: Okay, that's where he needed a guy with the Boston
- 1:39:45Speaker 6: accent to get there and say, bel Reel, Well, did.
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: You guys catch Maddy p over there? He was dabbing
- 1:39:53Speaker 3: up Carnell Tea.
- 1:39:54Speaker 6: Oh I missed it. Yeah, yeah, it's not a bad
- 1:39:57Speaker 6: move for him to be there. He's got like five
- 1:39:59Speaker 6: of his guys going to get.
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: After I saw I saw Matt, I interviewed him for
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: one of my projects, and then I saw him at
- 1:40:04Speaker 5: the Combine in India at the actual workouts.
- 1:40:07Speaker 3: I just went over and said hello. Well he was
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: up on the.
- 1:40:09Speaker 5: Upper level of the stands and I was kind of
- 1:40:11Speaker 5: walking out. I was just like, hey, Matt, you know,
- 1:40:12Speaker 5: I just introduced myself. I was like, hey, thanks for
- 1:40:14Speaker 5: saying hi.
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: He's a really nice guy.
- 1:40:15Speaker 5: I mean, I know you guys, he is a really
- 1:40:17Speaker 5: nice guy. Thank you, Matt, Thank you for saying it.
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: With help, we should have made you a T shirt
- 1:40:24Speaker 5: that year.
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: Friend. Just like a picture of Maddie. It is a
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: thank you man.
- 1:40:28Speaker 13: The Chiefs pick is also in if we want to
- 1:40:31Speaker 13: share it, go ahead.
- 1:40:33Speaker 3: There.
- 1:40:33Speaker 13: They took Monsour Delaine from LSU, which I had them
- 1:40:37Speaker 13: taking at nine and I just didn't have the trade.
- 1:40:39Speaker 13: I like that picture, you know, they just traded Trent McDuffie,
- 1:40:42Speaker 13: but delayne to.
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: I love Delaane. I think he's like the player, a
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: lot look of a player.
- 1:40:46Speaker 6: This is another one though, if you're Kansas City. It's
- 1:40:48Speaker 6: like you're feeling a self made problem. Like you trade
- 1:40:53Speaker 6: Trent McDuffie because you don't want to pay him because
- 1:40:55Speaker 6: you're cheap, and you let it was a Jalen Watson
- 1:40:58Speaker 6: the other team go right, So you put yourself into
- 1:41:01Speaker 6: a corner where you have to no pun intended take
- 1:41:04Speaker 6: a corner.
- 1:41:04Speaker 3: Yeah, but he's he's a good player. He kind of lost.
- 1:41:08Speaker 13: He kind of reminds me of Devin Witherspoon coming out
- 1:41:10Speaker 13: like that kind of alpha just energy and urgency to
- 1:41:15Speaker 13: his game. Can play outside, can play the slot. Has
- 1:41:19Speaker 13: that though, that like Ballhawk alpha energy that he plays
- 1:41:22Speaker 13: with that I really really like.
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: Uh, he's going to be a really good player for Kansasity.
- 1:41:26Speaker 13: I hear what you're saying, Paul, but you know, oh,
- 1:41:29Speaker 13: I like to pick for them in some ways. And
- 1:41:31Speaker 13: I you know, this is kind of what you do
- 1:41:35Speaker 13: when you're in a position when you're in Kansas City
- 1:41:36Speaker 13: where you have a quarterback like Mahomes, where you know,
- 1:41:40Speaker 13: why pay the guy when we're gonna just take the
- 1:41:42Speaker 13: lane here he's going to be on a rookie contract
- 1:41:45Speaker 13: and we're just resetting, and you know, maybe it catches
- 1:41:48Speaker 13: up to them. Maybe it did catch up to them already.
- 1:41:51Speaker 13: But I can see the other side of it too
- 1:41:52Speaker 13: that they they just kind of think, like, why are
- 1:41:54Speaker 13: we paying thirty million dollars a year for a corner?
- 1:41:57Speaker 13: Patrick Mahomes is gonna make us a contender if he's healthy,
- 1:42:00Speaker 13: No matter what, We'll just draft, you know, a guy
- 1:42:03Speaker 13: and the beat goes on. We did that for twenty
- 1:42:05Speaker 13: years here, So I'm not gonna like put my nose up.
- 1:42:06Speaker 4: To it like Kansas City's becoming defensive team.
- 1:42:10Speaker 6: You know, I think they're running it like Bill Belichick
- 1:42:14Speaker 6: ran the Patriots.
- 1:42:14Speaker 3: I think I think that's exactly right.
- 1:42:17Speaker 6: Yeah at the end, Yeah, like Bill.
- 1:42:22Speaker 13: I think Bill Belichick ran the Patriots like this for years.
- 1:42:24Speaker 13: It's just that he had Tom Brady and they didn't
- 1:42:26Speaker 13: catch up to him until the end.
- 1:42:28Speaker 7: You know.
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: I I think with the Chiefs it caught up to
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: him last year. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:42:32Speaker 13: But you know, if Mahomes didn't get hurt, then I'm
- 1:42:35Speaker 13: sure everybody would say, well, the Chiefs will be right
- 1:42:36Speaker 13: back next year.
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: They'll be right back.
- 1:42:39Speaker 6: Yeah, I strongly believe that. I just don't think that
- 1:42:42Speaker 6: those caliber quarterbacks are down for very long.
- 1:42:45Speaker 5: No, me too, but I think it gets hurt again.
- 1:42:47Speaker 5: But I think they gotta find keeps getting hurt. I
- 1:42:49Speaker 5: think they got to find them offensive support though, you know,
- 1:42:51Speaker 5: like then they talk about the same thing that happened
- 1:42:53Speaker 5: to Brady, Like you're all right, we're asking to make
- 1:42:56Speaker 5: chicken salad out of.
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: Chicken windows not closed in Kansas City, Like it isn't buff.
- 1:43:01Speaker 6: But that's my point about Delaney, Like you, I like
- 1:43:06Speaker 6: the player. I think he'll likely slots right in as
- 1:43:09Speaker 6: a starting corner, and I think you're gonna be okay.
- 1:43:13Speaker 6: But you still haven't addressed your big problem. And your
- 1:43:16Speaker 6: big problem to me is that you keep relying on
- 1:43:22Speaker 6: Castrice is a good player, but like that's not a
- 1:43:25Speaker 6: reliable player with all of his off field stuff, Like you,
- 1:43:28Speaker 6: you can't rely on that, and then you're supplementing the
- 1:43:31Speaker 6: huge Chelsea comes back.
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: You know, he's got like get him some help.
- 1:43:39Speaker 13: I thought they were a Jordan Tyson team as well,
- 1:43:42Speaker 13: and I was the other guy I considered for them,
- 1:43:44Speaker 13: So it's interesting that they went corner. I think they
- 1:43:47Speaker 13: could have gone out of the direction. Maybe they were
- 1:43:49Speaker 13: a Carnal Tate team. Maybe I had receiver right, But
- 1:43:52Speaker 13: it was the wrong receiver, and when you know, the
- 1:43:53Speaker 13: Titans took Carnal Tate, they took Delane.
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: Okay, so we talked about the trade and Kansas City
- 1:44:01Speaker 2: moves up from nine to six.
- 1:44:03Speaker 4: Their pick is in Fred. We got Alex from the
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: draft party with some guests.
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: Oh, we want to go to Alex and the draft party. Okay, well,
- 1:44:10Speaker 2: she's got something to say. Let's go to Alex and
- 1:44:11Speaker 2: the draft party.
- 1:44:14Speaker 16: Are you guys, how are you feeling down there?
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:44:16Speaker 4: Yeah, it's all you. Alex.
- 1:44:18Speaker 3: Go ahead. I'm here with Mike and his wife Tiffany.
- 1:44:22Speaker 16: Mike, how long have you been a season ticket my buff?
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: Nineteen ninety six, So I was two.
- 1:44:28Speaker 16: Years old when you got season tickets?
- 1:44:31Speaker 3: All right, Bud, Yeah that's cool.
- 1:44:33Speaker 16: So you're a past fan, right yeah, right, I'm a
- 1:44:36Speaker 16: fan and they pay my bills now, so now I'm
- 1:44:38Speaker 16: a super fan. But I got to ask you. You've
- 1:44:40Speaker 16: been at these parties the last couple of years. Yeah,
- 1:44:43Speaker 16: what's the feeling like here at the draft party? You know,
- 1:44:47Speaker 16: we're not picking third, we're not picking in the top five.
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: How are we feeling.
- 1:44:52Speaker 21: So excited? I Mean, I have never felt so much
- 1:44:56Speaker 21: just enthusiasm. I mean, people are like ready to win.
- 1:45:00Speaker 21: This year, we're going to the super Bowl. I mean,
- 1:45:03Speaker 21: the camaraderie is everything.
- 1:45:06Speaker 22: So my thoughts are so we're picking thirty first, which
- 1:45:10Speaker 22: is kind of a bittersweet because that means we lost
- 1:45:12Speaker 22: the Super Bowl.
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: Right, Hopefully next year we'll pick a.
- 1:45:17Speaker 23: Thirty second, which means we won the Super Bowl. So
- 1:45:23Speaker 23: I don't know this year, I'm a little I don't
- 1:45:26Speaker 23: know where.
- 1:45:27Speaker 16: Well, you were telling me last year you knew it
- 1:45:29Speaker 16: was gonna be Will Campbell. The year before that, you
- 1:45:31Speaker 16: knew they were going for a quarterback. What direction do
- 1:45:33Speaker 16: you think they.
- 1:45:34Speaker 4: Go this year?
- 1:45:36Speaker 22: Honestly, I'm really confused with what they're gonna do because
- 1:45:39Speaker 22: it could be they could trade the pick for aj Brown,
- 1:45:43Speaker 22: or they could go defensive edge, they could go wide receiver, right, and.
- 1:45:50Speaker 21: You never think they're gonna do what they do, and.
- 1:45:54Speaker 3: That's kind of the beauty the Patriots. You don't know
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: what to expect, so you concur I'm pretty sure they
- 1:46:02Speaker 3: have a plan.
- 1:46:04Speaker 22: It might not be what we want them to do
- 1:46:06Speaker 22: or we know what they're gonna do, but I have faith.
- 1:46:08Speaker 3: In Brave Oil and the staff. So no matter what
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: they do is gonna be awesome.
- 1:46:13Speaker 16: I got to ask you about the atmosphere here today.
- 1:46:15Speaker 16: Why do you guys come to this party every single year?
- 1:46:18Speaker 23: So actually, my wife, Tiffany, she's the Volunteer of the.
- 1:46:22Speaker 22: Year for optim RX, so we get invited to this
- 1:46:27Speaker 22: events every year, which is awesome. Yea, even if we didn't,
- 1:46:31Speaker 22: we'd come either way because.
- 1:46:33Speaker 16: We break down the doors.
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: Sega, you just break down the door.
- 1:46:37Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, that's awesome.
- 1:46:40Speaker 16: So guys, that's kind of the consensus. A lot of
- 1:46:42Speaker 16: people don't really know what direction we're going to go in,
- 1:46:44Speaker 16: but we're waiting patiently.
- 1:46:46Speaker 3: We're gonna score that.
- 1:46:48Speaker 6: Yeah, Tiffany, Yeah, have fun at the party.
- 1:46:52Speaker 4: We'll talk to you later, Alex.
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: Look at those lines, all right?
- 1:46:56Speaker 2: So I love how the guy gets frustrated because his
- 1:46:59Speaker 2: wife keeps interrupt him, but he doesn't say anything, like
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: he's thinking, and she's like filling dead.
- 1:47:04Speaker 3: Air, you know. Was she's like today, Junior? Was he
- 1:47:08Speaker 3: a fellow ninety six season ticket hold? Was that your
- 1:47:10Speaker 3: year that I was a season ticket holder in ninety six?
- 1:47:12Speaker 3: But ninety four was the first, Yes, right after ninety six,
- 1:47:15Speaker 3: that was a good year. Ninety It was a very
- 1:47:18Speaker 3: good year.
- 1:47:18Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 1:47:19Speaker 6: So the other thing about the lane, by the way,
- 1:47:21Speaker 6: I just like, give me an L s U corner.
- 1:47:25Speaker 6: I'll take defensive bachelor Peterson.
- 1:47:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:47:28Speaker 13: The Commanders have already made their pick to at seven. Okay, Twitter,
- 1:47:34Speaker 13: Twitter is ahead now and pretty.
- 1:47:37Speaker 3: I thought they were actually doing a pretty good job
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: of not having them.
- 1:47:41Speaker 4: Who the Commanders take?
- 1:47:42Speaker 13: They took Sonny Styles, which makes a lot of sense,
- 1:47:45Speaker 13: say I, This was kind of like the worst kept
- 1:47:48Speaker 13: secret is that dan Quinn and the Commanders were praying
- 1:47:51Speaker 13: that Sonny Styles was going to make it to the
- 1:47:53Speaker 13: seventh overall pick. And I'm sure it took them about
- 1:47:56Speaker 13: two seconds to write that name on the card when
- 1:47:58Speaker 13: he was still there on the on the board. So
- 1:48:01Speaker 13: off ball linebacker, exceptional athlete but still can play the run,
- 1:48:05Speaker 13: but really one of those like you know, new age
- 1:48:08Speaker 13: prototypes at the linebacker position. It covers a lot of ground,
- 1:48:12Speaker 13: can cover zone deep zone drops, carry vertical routes in
- 1:48:16Speaker 13: the middle of the field. I actually think he plays
- 1:48:18Speaker 13: the run pretty well though, and it can move latterly
- 1:48:21Speaker 13: and avoid blocks and do that sort of thing in
- 1:48:23Speaker 13: the run game too. You know, there's a lot of
- 1:48:26Speaker 13: high praise for him that comparisons that probably aren't fair
- 1:48:29Speaker 13: to guys like Fred Warner and stuff like that, But
- 1:48:31Speaker 13: he's in that kind of mold of player. I mean,
- 1:48:34Speaker 13: I wouldn't put a you know, put that on anybody
- 1:48:36Speaker 13: that he's there gonna be Fred Warner.
- 1:48:38Speaker 3: But he's a freak. He's in that kind of category,
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: that type of athlete.
- 1:48:42Speaker 2: Yep ethan and La writes in I think the final
- 1:48:46Speaker 2: say conversation is so silly. It's mutually beneficial to be
- 1:48:50Speaker 2: on the same page and find the right pieces. If
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: that marriage is at a point where you're spending all
- 1:48:55Speaker 2: of this extra energy convincing one or the other or
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: pulling the trigger in spite of the other.
- 1:49:00Speaker 4: That doesn't end well for all parties involved. Well.
- 1:49:02Speaker 5: Like again, if I was going to be a personnel person,
- 1:49:05Speaker 5: I would love a coach like Mike Vrabel, who came
- 1:49:08Speaker 5: in and said this is the kind of I mean
- 1:49:09Speaker 5: he said, like day one, we want guys who are
- 1:49:11Speaker 5: you know, going to play with violence, who are going
- 1:49:12Speaker 5: to play with effort and finish. And I mean, I
- 1:49:14Speaker 5: know those are kind of cliches that every team is
- 1:49:16Speaker 5: looking for, big, tough, smart football players. Uh, but I
- 1:49:19Speaker 5: think that Verbel has a style, and I think that's
- 1:49:22Speaker 5: a parent and as a personnel guy, I assume that
- 1:49:25Speaker 5: you want to see, you know, that kind of character.
- 1:49:27Speaker 5: I know what I'm looking for, I know what kind
- 1:49:29Speaker 5: of guys he's going to respond to. I think that
- 1:49:31Speaker 5: makes it easier. Whereas if I'm a coach who kind
- 1:49:33Speaker 5: of doesn't know exactly what he wants.
- 1:49:34Speaker 4: It's going to be I think this, you know, I
- 1:49:37Speaker 4: know this. One email has said it's a silly conversation,
- 1:49:39Speaker 4: but I think.
- 1:49:40Speaker 3: I don't think it's a silly converse.
- 1:49:41Speaker 4: They want to know if things are good or bad?
- 1:49:44Speaker 4: Who really?
- 1:49:45Speaker 3: Yeah? Right is the reason? And we're still trying to
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: figure out that stuff with. I agree with the body
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: of the email. I just don't agree that it's a
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: silly con I.
- 1:49:53Speaker 6: Agree accountability, but ideally you want everybody on the same page.
- 1:49:58Speaker 6: It doesn't I don't think it's it's functional power struggle.
- 1:50:01Speaker 3: Yeah, to have a power struggle.
- 1:50:02Speaker 6: If Mike wants Denzel Boston and I think Denzel Boston
- 1:50:05Speaker 6: can't play and I want.
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: Chris Brazzle, Like, that's not healthy, that's dysfunctional. I get it.
- 1:50:11Speaker 6: Yeah, but the fact of the matter is that happens
- 1:50:13Speaker 6: if Mike Grabel wants one guy and Elliot Wolf wants
- 1:50:15Speaker 6: the other.
- 1:50:15Speaker 3: Someone has to be the guy who makes the final say.
- 1:50:18Speaker 2: Or even scouts like they could disagree, or the you know,
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: uh Cowden could disagree. Anyone in that room could have
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: a strong opinion. There has to be one person who's
- 1:50:28Speaker 2: the final arbiter.
- 1:50:30Speaker 3: I think that one.
- 1:50:30Speaker 6: Person is Elliott Wolf personally. I know that a lot
- 1:50:33Speaker 6: of people think it's Mike Rabel. Absolutely could be, but
- 1:50:36Speaker 6: somebody has to be the one value.
- 1:50:38Speaker 13: But I think that at the end of the day,
- 1:50:40Speaker 13: like Mike Rabel is gonna sits down with the personnel
- 1:50:43Speaker 13: staff and says, wide receiver, here are like the five
- 1:50:47Speaker 13: things that we need the wide receiver to be able
- 1:50:49Speaker 13: to do. And they probably separate it between outside guys,
- 1:50:52Speaker 13: inside guys, X receivers, the receivers, but they're gonna they
- 1:50:56Speaker 13: have like a Deduce's point. They have sort of a
- 1:50:59Speaker 13: checklist of this player.
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: Has to do this, this and this.
- 1:51:02Speaker 13: So like you mentioned Denzel Boston versus Chris Brasel, and
- 1:51:05Speaker 13: I don't you mean to do this in this way,
- 1:51:07Speaker 13: but like I was just.
- 1:51:09Speaker 6: Right, But let's just use those two like those are
- 1:51:11Speaker 6: two very very different players.
- 1:51:13Speaker 13: So if Mike Rabel says we want our receivers to
- 1:51:17Speaker 13: have great hands and play strength and be able to run,
- 1:51:20Speaker 13: block and do all those different types of things, that's
- 1:51:23Speaker 13: not that's going to be Denzel Boston. And I think
- 1:51:25Speaker 13: Elliott what's a good point too, is in the school
- 1:51:27Speaker 13: of thought of well, why would I draft Chris Brasel
- 1:51:30Speaker 13: When Josh McDaniels is telling me that Denzel Boston works
- 1:51:34Speaker 13: for his offense or that type of receiver works for
- 1:51:37Speaker 13: his offense? Why would I go and draft Chris Brasel
- 1:51:40Speaker 13: Because we're both going to get fired.
- 1:51:42Speaker 3: And if that, you know, at the end of the day,
- 1:51:44Speaker 3: that's a.
- 1:51:44Speaker 6: That's a great point because that a lot of times
- 1:51:47Speaker 6: is going to be the decision. That deciding factor is,
- 1:51:49Speaker 6: you know, the.
- 1:51:50Speaker 3: Fit the sky.
- 1:51:50Speaker 4: What if your a defensive coordinator saying I need something, But.
- 1:51:53Speaker 6: If I had just said instead, if I had said,
- 1:51:55Speaker 6: like Casey con and Omar Cooper, you know, you know,
- 1:51:58Speaker 6: two guys that are a little bit more similar in place,
- 1:52:01Speaker 6: you know, like one guy likes one, one guy likes
- 1:52:03Speaker 6: the other.
- 1:52:04Speaker 3: Was my larger point. But I love what you brought
- 1:52:06Speaker 3: into it.
- 1:52:07Speaker 6: Because now, yeah, Elliott Wolf might have final say but
- 1:52:11Speaker 6: Mike Vrabel, he might want like, I get it, Elliott,
- 1:52:15Speaker 6: maybe you're right that guy's a better player, but this
- 1:52:17Speaker 6: guy's a better fit for me, and we got to
- 1:52:19Speaker 6: be able to work together and do it again.
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: I don't think it's silly.
- 1:52:23Speaker 6: I think these are important elements of the draft.
- 1:52:26Speaker 13: Yeah, the sailor are two things I would say. You
- 1:52:27Speaker 13: know that there's the scouts have a master list of
- 1:52:31Speaker 13: players that are going to be on the board. They
- 1:52:34Speaker 13: then give the coaches a coaches list. The coaches list,
- 1:52:37Speaker 13: the scouts list might be fifty players, on the coaches
- 1:52:40Speaker 13: list is only about ten to fifteen players long. So
- 1:52:43Speaker 13: the coaches are watching the best guys that they The
- 1:52:46Speaker 13: scouts have already taken the board and gone like this
- 1:52:48Speaker 13: with the board, So the coaches are watching just the
- 1:52:51Speaker 13: guys that are already been hand picked by the scouts.
- 1:52:53Speaker 13: As these guys are the are the fits that we see.
- 1:52:56Speaker 13: And the coaches then come in and give their input
- 1:52:58Speaker 13: and say, you know, for all our scheme for our
- 1:53:01Speaker 13: offense or our defense, we like this player better than
- 1:53:04Speaker 13: that player. And that's where those conversations come in. You know,
- 1:53:07Speaker 13: last year it was about position. They were arguing in
- 1:53:10Speaker 13: the draft room about Trevon Henderson and Jonas Savignia that happened.
- 1:53:13Speaker 13: It's been reported ye and Elliott Wolf didn't use the names,
- 1:53:17Speaker 13: but he confirmed it after day two of the draft
- 1:53:19Speaker 13: that they had that he called it a healthy discussion.
- 1:53:23Speaker 13: Jonas Savignia ended up going to Miami before the Patriots
- 1:53:26Speaker 13: were on the clock, so we didn't get to decide,
- 1:53:29Speaker 13: you know, which one would They have ultimately.
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: Taken, thankfully Gun to the head because he didn't have
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: a very.
- 1:53:34Speaker 13: Good year, But they ended up with Travon Henderson, who
- 1:53:38Speaker 13: later on and who knows if this is accurate, but
- 1:53:40Speaker 13: the reporting was is that Elliott Wolf was on the
- 1:53:43Speaker 13: Travon Henderson side of that conversation, So who knows, but
- 1:53:47Speaker 13: you know that those.
- 1:53:48Speaker 3: Are the types of things.
- 1:53:49Speaker 13: I think if there is a final arbiter, final decision maker,
- 1:53:53Speaker 13: it might be more like Fred saying, like positions not
- 1:53:56Speaker 13: necessarily this player wide receiver versus this play at wide receiver.
- 1:54:00Speaker 3: But do we go running back here or do we
- 1:54:03Speaker 3: go guard here? Defense here? That sort of it's like
- 1:54:06Speaker 3: we have fun doing it.
- 1:54:07Speaker 23: I mean, we do this all.
- 1:54:08Speaker 3: This is what we do. But imagine if like your
- 1:54:10Speaker 3: job was kind of on the line. Well, your job
- 1:54:12Speaker 3: was kind of on the line about debating players.
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: You know, when you love a guy and I love
- 1:54:16Speaker 5: a guy, and how do I put together my argument
- 1:54:19Speaker 5: to convince you that, like, my wide receiver is better
- 1:54:22Speaker 5: than your corner back, you know, and but like, and
- 1:54:24Speaker 5: there's real stakes with this argument too.
- 1:54:26Speaker 13: That's why you stack the board horizontally and then you vertical,
- 1:54:30Speaker 13: and then you stack it vert vertically.
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: Both you both yea diagonally. Yeah, but no, it doesn't
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: even make sense.
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: There will there will be outside might Sonny, there will
- 1:54:43Speaker 4: be disagreement.
- 1:54:44Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just the way it is. Yeah, what's weird
- 1:54:46Speaker 3: to add stakes to it? Though?
- 1:54:47Speaker 5: And we have fun, Like it's so fun for us
- 1:54:49Speaker 5: to debate these players. But at the end of the day,
- 1:54:50Speaker 5: it's like, I don't know, they're gonna pick who they pick,
- 1:54:52Speaker 5: and that's on them.
- 1:54:53Speaker 3: You know, it's on you and you've got real skin
- 1:54:55Speaker 3: in the game.
- 1:54:55Speaker 13: So pick eight am, Pick nine are already in and
- 1:54:57Speaker 13: the broadcast is two picks behind. So I saw eight
- 1:55:01Speaker 13: eight is Jordan Tyson to the New Orleans Saints. People
- 1:55:04Speaker 13: said that we have to have a little bit more
- 1:55:06Speaker 13: like gumption.
- 1:55:07Speaker 3: When we announced the picks.
- 1:55:08Speaker 2: Okay, Jordan Tyson, which I think is a mile after
- 1:55:12Speaker 2: after he says it, whoa.
- 1:55:14Speaker 3: Jordan Tyson to New Orleans?
- 1:55:16Speaker 4: And there it is, Yeah, and there it is.
- 1:55:18Speaker 3: Good friend, Jalen Polk just got a little more competition. Huh, nice.
- 1:55:25Speaker 13: Little bit, a little bit of a surprise. But you know,
- 1:55:28Speaker 13: Tyler Shuck is their guy. Apparently they they kind of
- 1:55:30Speaker 13: like him. They think that he has franchise quarterback potential.
- 1:55:33Speaker 13: So you draft Jordan Tyson and give him another weapon
- 1:55:36Speaker 13: to work.
- 1:55:37Speaker 6: With with a lobby Jordan Polk of course, Jalen, Jalen,
- 1:55:41Speaker 6: I know he was only here one year. Yeah, which
- 1:55:44Speaker 6: the safety was Jordan Polk. And then the first tackle
- 1:55:47Speaker 6: number nine, the number nine they take Spencer from Utah.
- 1:55:55Speaker 3: How is that that? That's pretty good? That's pretty good.
- 1:55:58Speaker 3: I think you've been doing great though, because you really
- 1:55:59Speaker 3: have a like a milk hyper vibe with some of
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: these picks. You know, you go right out on the
- 1:56:03Speaker 3: thing and I say, this guy, who's going to come
- 1:56:05Speaker 3: right now and he's gonna be able to you know good?
- 1:56:07Speaker 13: I really love Jordan and Tyson to Todd Todd Pop
- 1:56:11Speaker 13: I can bear it him. To Amari Cooper, I think
- 1:56:13Speaker 13: a lot of people did, but maybe not the most physical.
- 1:56:16Speaker 13: He's not like, you know, that guy that's gonna fight
- 1:56:18Speaker 13: for the football and you know, stick his nose in
- 1:56:21Speaker 13: there and all that stuff that.
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: Some people like.
- 1:56:23Speaker 13: But his route running ability at his size is a
- 1:56:26Speaker 13: rare trait. You know, his fluidity, his separation quickness, his
- 1:56:29Speaker 13: ability to attack, leverage, release off the line of scrimmage,
- 1:56:32Speaker 13: all the different things that add up to separation at
- 1:56:35Speaker 13: that position. To be able to do that at six
- 1:56:38Speaker 13: to you know, two hundred pounds, he runs routes like
- 1:56:41Speaker 13: he's you know, a much smaller receiver and a bigger
- 1:56:44Speaker 13: receiver's body. Fun player obviously has a million injuries and
- 1:56:48Speaker 13: in lengthy injury history that teams were vetting he did.
- 1:56:52Speaker 13: He pulled both hamstrings last year, you know, plate missed
- 1:56:57Speaker 13: some time, played through it, you know, on and off.
- 1:56:59Speaker 13: It was an issue, has an ACL in his history.
- 1:57:03Speaker 13: You know, there's a lot of injuries there with Jordan Tyson,
- 1:57:05Speaker 13: but the talent was top ten worthy for sure.
- 1:57:08Speaker 2: Okay, Kevin says, more alex and drinkers. This is my
