- 0:00Speaker 1: About territory is presented by Fox One. I'm being told
- 0:02Speaker 1: that Eric Kratz has an important statement. Let's go to
- 0:05Speaker 1: him now.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Shohittani is confirmed on a flight to to Toronto.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Confirmed. Okay, confirmed, let's start the show. We can officially
- 0:15Speaker 1: start ft I just thought of this. My favorite tweet
- 0:21Speaker 1: yesterday actually was from our friend Alden Gonzalez. You know
- 0:26Speaker 1: he covers West Coast ball, a lot of Dodgers right
- 0:28Speaker 1: free ESPN, one of you remind me next time he
- 0:31Speaker 1: comes on to just spend five minutes on this topic.
- 0:34Speaker 1: He goes. Questions being asked during this world series are
- 0:38Speaker 1: making me physically ill, and I feel so heard. You
- 0:45Speaker 1: guys didn't go through this, but it covered a lot
- 0:48Speaker 1: of postseasons. And then people pop up and I don't
- 0:51Speaker 1: want to All right, I'll do it. It's usually the local
- 0:56Speaker 1: news and they show up and the questions are next level.
- 1:04Speaker 1: You've probably gotten them a million times, have you gotten
- 1:07Speaker 1: when you're in the playoffs and all of a sudden
- 1:08Speaker 1: you start seeing people you've never seen there before, and
- 1:10Speaker 1: you're like, oh, you don't know baseball?
- 1:13Speaker 3: All?
- 1:13Speaker 4: Oh yeah, of course, I mean that happens all the time.
- 1:15Speaker 4: That happens as soon as.
- 1:16Speaker 5: The playoffs start, though, okay, from the from the wild
- 1:18Speaker 5: card round to the World Chairs. It only gets worse
- 1:20Speaker 5: is they get farther into it, because more people start
- 1:22Speaker 5: showing up. But there are times when you look at
- 1:25Speaker 5: someone you're like, you've never been to a game in
- 1:27Speaker 5: your life, have you?
- 1:28Speaker 1: How are you with that? Because you're an interesting character?
- 1:34Speaker 1: Did you just play along and answer there something depending
- 1:36Speaker 1: on who questions? But did you ever like laugh or
- 1:41Speaker 1: make fun of course?
- 1:42Speaker 5: Yeah, me, you know me, That's what I'm saying. Of
- 1:43Speaker 5: course I would say. So there are times like I mean,
- 1:46Speaker 5: when I was playing, you know, make a run and
- 1:48Speaker 5: all of a sudden you see someone and you're like, okay,
- 1:50Speaker 5: and you can always tell them too, because they look
- 1:52Speaker 5: they don't know what to do or where to go
- 1:54Speaker 5: or how to act. You know, they're just nervous wreck.
- 2:00Speaker 5: And then they get there two minutes with you and
- 2:02Speaker 5: they oh, guy, can we you know? And it's it's
- 2:05Speaker 5: usually the person. So someone you know will say because
- 2:08Speaker 5: the media access is so limited during the playoffs, so
- 2:11Speaker 5: it usually happens on the field. Okay, So you'll see
- 2:14Speaker 5: someone you know, a reporter you know, and they'll say, hey,
- 2:16Speaker 5: can I get a couple of minutes with you? And
- 2:18Speaker 5: then you'll see that person that's like a new person there,
- 2:22Speaker 5: and I hate to say, they're usually a younger person
- 2:24Speaker 5: and you know they've never been to a game before,
- 2:26Speaker 5: and they and they and they like tag along and
- 2:28Speaker 5: they're like, oh, we'll get in on this, right, Because
- 2:31Speaker 5: there's that once one person grabs somebody, then a couple
- 2:33Speaker 5: of people start gathering around and there's that one person
- 2:35Speaker 5: that you know, and they're like and then they just
- 2:37Speaker 5: ask you some questions.
- 2:38Speaker 4: You're just like, first game, huh. Yeah. You try not
- 2:43Speaker 4: to make him feel bad, but you kind of.
- 2:44Speaker 5: Feel bad for him. It'd be like Michael Beer when
- 2:48Speaker 5: he goes these games. Right, I know who Michael is,
- 2:53Speaker 5: but there's a lot of people that don't Michael. Michael
- 2:55Speaker 5: goes up to a player and he's like, so you
- 2:57Speaker 5: like girl, Jesus no, So do you see them in
- 3:01Speaker 5: your socks?
- 3:01Speaker 3: Like I do?
- 3:03Speaker 4: Hold on?
- 3:04Speaker 1: Hold on, get back here?
- 3:07Speaker 5: Do you set twelve alarms to get up at six
- 3:09Speaker 5: am and they start at four am?
- 3:11Speaker 1: Those are actually better questions than here. I'll give you
- 3:13Speaker 1: my example to Kratz. So there's the questions where you're like, Okay,
- 3:16Speaker 1: that's not a question that makes sense for the game
- 3:19Speaker 1: of baseball. There's also the people that are coming in
- 3:22Speaker 1: who do like the last few minutes of the news
- 3:25Speaker 1: and I don't know if this is a thing as much.
- 3:27Speaker 1: I remember this more from like ten plus years ago,
- 3:30Speaker 1: and I mean they would say like, oh, I just
- 3:31Speaker 1: got to get a quote, so they would actually pretty
- 3:33Speaker 1: aggressively get one of the first questions in. It's like
- 3:37Speaker 1: there's beat writers covering the team all year and they're
- 3:40Speaker 1: ready to ask real questions. In crats, there'll be that
- 3:43Speaker 1: like one dude who's a hustler and he just shoulders
- 3:46Speaker 1: his way in and goes, he how much pressure you
- 3:48Speaker 1: feeling tonight? And every game in the series, when it's
- 3:52Speaker 1: in their spots, they usually won't travel it's that question,
- 3:55Speaker 1: and then they'll pull out run tape, roll it and
- 3:59Speaker 1: I asked it Presentski today about the pressure he's feeling
- 4:02Speaker 1: and they're serious.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Yep.
- 4:05Speaker 2: My favorite part of all that is watching the guys
- 4:07Speaker 2: who have been with you the entire season their reaction.
- 4:11Speaker 2: They're like, you know, they're sitting there, they're waiting for
- 4:13Speaker 2: the first question, and that dude just pile drives to
- 4:16Speaker 2: the front. He's like, so tell me about the pressure,
- 4:19Speaker 2: and the other guys are like great. So when Alden,
- 4:22Speaker 2: when Alden tweeted that, it made it made me laugh
- 4:25Speaker 2: because I've been there. But if anybody doesn't know what
- 4:27Speaker 2: we're talking about, just google the Saturday and Saturday Night
- 4:31Speaker 2: Live Awkward Sports Interview and it's just like, so.
- 4:38Speaker 4: You got a hit literally what it is? It's in
- 4:45Speaker 4: real life. Yeah, it's real life.
- 4:48Speaker 5: People just don't It's just if people aren't around it,
- 4:51Speaker 5: they're just it happened there a job.
- 4:53Speaker 1: It is their job.
- 4:55Speaker 5: In fairness, it's their job. But they it's their job
- 4:57Speaker 5: to get a quote and to be that person. But
- 4:59Speaker 5: they haven't been around I don't know. It's it's if
- 5:02Speaker 5: we're making fun of them, but it's not.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Yeah, but they could try a little harder. And my
- 5:05Speaker 1: example is like I I did some entertainment stuff in
- 5:09Speaker 1: my past life and I didn't know everything, but guess what,
- 5:13Speaker 1: I did homework And then I did and I'm talking
- 5:16Speaker 1: about all the celebrities, like I watch every show. I don't,
- 5:20Speaker 1: but I did homework and they were like, wow, you
- 5:22Speaker 1: really know you watch all that. I'm like I watch
- 5:25Speaker 1: watch any of that, So just throwing that out there.
- 5:28Speaker 1: We'll get Alding Gonzales at some point and we can.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I like all them a lot, so just if next
- 5:34Speaker 1: time we have them on, everybody remember so we can
- 5:36Speaker 1: spend five minutes on that. Now we can spend some
- 5:39Speaker 1: time on the World Series. All right, here we go.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Blue Jays have to win one game out of their
- 5:50Speaker 1: next two. Dodgers have to win two in a row.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Games are in Toronto. John Schneider after the big Game
- 5:57Speaker 1: five win, said quote, I can't wait to at Rogers
- 6:00Speaker 1: Center is going to look, feel and sound like it's
- 6:05Speaker 1: different when a city hasn't experienced moments like this in
- 6:09Speaker 1: a long time.
- 6:10Speaker 4: Right, one hundred percent after crowd, it's gonna be amazing. Listen.
- 6:16Speaker 4: The one I say this all the time.
- 6:17Speaker 5: The wonder regret I have the year we won in
- 6:18Speaker 5: two thousand and five is we won everything on the road.
- 6:21Speaker 5: We won the Division on the road, who won the
- 6:22Speaker 5: Division Series on the road, who won the LCS on
- 6:24Speaker 5: the road, And we won the World Series on the road.
- 6:26Speaker 5: So we never got that home field feeling like this
- 6:30Speaker 5: is the clinching game to win something, to go to
- 6:32Speaker 5: the next round.
- 6:32Speaker 4: It was always on the road, so.
- 6:36Speaker 5: I always wanted that, and I've clinched divisions and we
- 6:38Speaker 5: played a game one sixty three a couple years later
- 6:40Speaker 5: and it was a home and it was incredible. But
- 6:42Speaker 5: to feel that feeling of especially the World Series, like
- 6:44Speaker 5: you're going home and you feel that feeling of win,
- 6:47Speaker 5: We're gonna win. We have a chance to win in
- 6:49Speaker 5: front of our home crowd in a place Toronto has
- 6:51Speaker 5: it once since ninety three. It's gonna be the best
- 6:54Speaker 5: that these people are gonna be fired of. These Canucks
- 6:56Speaker 5: are gonna be fired up.
- 6:58Speaker 1: You know. The Dodgers, I think out of there. Whatever
- 7:01Speaker 1: World Series titles they have, it's been mentioned a couple times,
- 7:03Speaker 1: have only clinched a World Series title once at home,
- 7:06Speaker 1: and it was a long time ago and decades ago.
- 7:09Speaker 1: So anything they've done recently, I'm not talking about postseason
- 7:12Speaker 1: other series, but I'm talking about World Series. For the
- 7:15Speaker 1: Toronto Blue Jays, crats, they have a chance to party
- 7:18Speaker 1: at home if they pull off one more up.
- 7:21Speaker 2: This quote right here tells me all I need to
- 7:24Speaker 2: know about the Jays. Would this quote have been the
- 7:27Speaker 2: exact same if they were down three to two?
- 7:31Speaker 4: Can't wait to hear what the crowd looks like.
- 7:33Speaker 2: To me, I think they feed off of this stuff.
- 7:36Speaker 2: I don't think there's like home field advantage. I just
- 7:39Speaker 2: think there's the excitement of going back home. If they
- 7:43Speaker 2: were down three two, they still would expect Roger Center
- 7:47Speaker 2: to be popping. Like I just I think this is
- 7:50Speaker 2: the kind of stuff that they're like hopefully enjoying and
- 7:53Speaker 2: not just like nose to the grindstone, not like not
- 7:57Speaker 2: seeing anything else, because Rogers Center is going to be
- 8:01Speaker 2: a spectacle.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Hey, if you want to take care of yourself, your
- 8:07Speaker 1: body and everything that goes into health, fitness, and nutrition,
- 8:12Speaker 1: Superpower provides crafts what I would call the pro experience
- 8:16Speaker 1: for the everyday person, one.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Hundred percent super easy. You get your lab test results back,
- 8:22Speaker 2: and you can streamline exactly what you're deficient in. You
- 8:26Speaker 2: can say, okay, this is what the results told me.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I'm going to go ahead and maybe look for that
- 8:32Speaker 2: in a supplement which they provide. I'm gonna go ahead
- 8:36Speaker 2: and look at that in my daily workouts, which they
- 8:39Speaker 2: give so many different ideas of how to make sure
- 8:43Speaker 2: your deficiencies become some of your superpowers.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Superpower used to cost four in your ninety nine dollars.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Head to superpower dot com right now to learn more
- 8:52Speaker 1: and lock in the special one hundred and ninety nine
- 8:54Speaker 1: dollars price while it lasts. After you sign up, they'll
- 8:56Speaker 1: ask you how you heard about them and make sure
- 8:58Speaker 1: you mention ft your biology decoded, your blueprint activated with Superpower.
- 9:04Speaker 4: It's gonna be great. I can't wait.
- 9:06Speaker 1: What is it that makes players able to seize the moment?
- 9:10Speaker 1: It sounds like a local news question, But the reason
- 9:15Speaker 1: I ask it is these are the biggest games of
- 9:17Speaker 1: their lives. Most of the Blue Jays have never been
- 9:20Speaker 1: in moments like this before. We can look at They've
- 9:24Speaker 1: been around this kind of craziness their whole life and
- 9:28Speaker 1: their dads. But I mean, Ernie Clement just suddenly. But
- 9:31Speaker 1: here's four hundred and fifty hitters.
- 9:33Speaker 5: But no, But here's what they do. Certain people and
- 9:36Speaker 5: you see probably have a dog here, right, one of
- 9:39Speaker 5: my dogs.
- 9:40Speaker 4: Wow?
- 9:40Speaker 5: Eve, Yeah, I just flew off one of my dog
- 9:44Speaker 5: care sorry dogs for a long walk, Eve, a little pompsky.
- 9:47Speaker 2: Eve.
- 9:47Speaker 5: Tell you can always tell by the if it's curly
- 9:49Speaker 5: it's Eve. It as straight it's Noah. But everybody deals
- 9:55Speaker 5: with things in different ways, especially pressure. Okay, and the
- 9:58Speaker 5: Blue Jays have done a really good job. And it's
- 10:01Speaker 5: a credit and we're gonna talk about you, Savage later,
- 10:03Speaker 5: but it's credit to their scouts, credit to their developments,
- 10:05Speaker 5: credit to their coaches, it's credit to the people that
- 10:07Speaker 5: they have in this organization and the players.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Right.
- 10:09Speaker 5: First of all, they feed off Vlad. Lads always smile
- 10:11Speaker 5: and blad. It never seems like anything bothers them, right,
- 10:13Speaker 5: But it seems like nothing really bothers this team, and
- 10:16Speaker 5: they're just kind of the same right now. It's easier
- 10:18Speaker 5: said than done to do that because I've been on
- 10:19Speaker 5: both sides and I've seen guys crumble. We've seen guys
- 10:21Speaker 5: crumble under the pressure.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Right. Alex Rodriguez for years couldn't hit in the postseason,
- 10:25Speaker 4: and they were like, oh, what's wrong with this guy?
- 10:27Speaker 5: Right, there's certain players that just can't do And then
- 10:29Speaker 5: you look at Manny Ramirez and David Ortisza.
- 10:31Speaker 4: Seem like every time they come up they got to hit. Right.
- 10:33Speaker 5: You have to understand, and I always tell people to
- 10:35Speaker 5: do that, and I think rats will agree with me.
- 10:37Speaker 5: You give me nine guys in my lineup most of
- 10:40Speaker 5: the time that can aren't afraid to get a hit
- 10:43Speaker 5: in that moment first of all, to fail because you're
- 10:45Speaker 5: gonna not get a hit every time, but you want
- 10:48Speaker 5: to be up in those moments and that can get
- 10:50Speaker 5: hits off a closer in the ninth inning with two
- 10:52Speaker 5: outs in a runer on second base, and I'll beat you.
- 10:54Speaker 4: I'll beat you more times than you beat me.
- 10:56Speaker 5: Give me nine of those guys. Give me nine of
- 10:57Speaker 5: those guys that don't shrink away from the moment.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Give me nine of them.
- 11:00Speaker 5: Because I played with guys that didn't want to be
- 11:01Speaker 5: up with the game on the line, Krats, I know
- 11:03Speaker 5: you did too. Like there was guys you just knew,
- 11:06Speaker 5: oh gosh, this game's over. He didn't want to be up,
- 11:08Speaker 5: And you guys have vocalize that.
- 11:09Speaker 4: Man, I don't gosh. I you're like, oh boy, please
- 11:12Speaker 4: don't let him get up.
- 11:13Speaker 5: But it's just the thing, man, Like I personally, I
- 11:16Speaker 5: love being up in that situation.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Did I make a lot of outs in that situation?
- 11:19Speaker 5: Yeah, but I was like, Okay, screw it, I've I tried,
- 11:22Speaker 5: But I wasn't afraid to fail, right, That's I think
- 11:25Speaker 5: what MJ say. Michael Jordan said, you know, you know,
- 11:28Speaker 5: I wanted the ball because I could handle the failure,
- 11:30Speaker 5: Like can you handle the failure? Lebron James passes it right, Like,
- 11:34Speaker 5: not a knock on Lebron James. He's a great player,
- 11:35Speaker 5: but he usually passes that shot. Michael wanted that ball
- 11:39Speaker 5: most of the time, right, You got to have And
- 11:41Speaker 5: it feels like the blue Jays, not that the Dodgers don't,
- 11:43Speaker 5: but it feels like the blue Jays just have ten
- 11:45Speaker 5: to twelve of those guys that just want to be
- 11:47Speaker 5: up in those situations and then they're not afraid of
- 11:49Speaker 5: the moment.
- 11:51Speaker 4: One of the aspects you said, Scott, like, what what
- 11:53Speaker 4: does it mean?
- 11:54Speaker 2: How do teams come up big in the clutch or
- 11:57Speaker 2: whatever your exact question was. I forget, but a lot
- 12:00Speaker 2: of it is what Aj said, but he kind of
- 12:03Speaker 2: glazed over the one thing. It's okay to have veteran
- 12:07Speaker 2: older guys in your lineup. George Springer struggled up until
- 12:13Speaker 2: this year. If you don't think like conversations he's had
- 12:17Speaker 2: the last three years, even though he's only been super
- 12:22Speaker 2: successful this season, the conversations he's had about experiences with Houston,
- 12:28Speaker 2: experiences for himself playing in the playoffs, maybe didn't just happen.
- 12:33Speaker 2: He doesn't sit down before Game one of the World
- 12:35Speaker 2: Series said, guys, so in game one, you're gonna feel this. No,
- 12:40Speaker 2: He's had these conversations for a long time. There's young
- 12:43Speaker 2: guys on this team like Ernie Clement. There's guys that
- 12:47Speaker 2: have squalored for a long time in the minor leagues
- 12:51Speaker 2: like Nathan Lucas, and there's a there's superstars like Vladdie
- 12:55Speaker 2: and Bo.
- 12:56Speaker 4: These conversations don't.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Just happen in game two of the World's you know,
- 13:00Speaker 2: right after they win the NLCS. They're conversations that have
- 13:04Speaker 2: happened for the last three four years while they've played.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Some of them have played together and throughout this season too,
- 13:11Speaker 2: and it's like you lean on that and you're like,
- 13:14Speaker 2: I get it.
- 13:16Speaker 4: I get what he's saying.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Now, I get this feeling that I have is adrenaline
- 13:21Speaker 2: times ten, and it's okay to harness it or whatever
- 13:25Speaker 2: whatever Springer said. And that wealth of experience is invaluable.
- 13:31Speaker 2: And George's contract paid for itself if he ever had
- 13:35Speaker 2: even one conversation with any of these guys that made
- 13:38Speaker 2: him feel more comfortable to be who they are in
- 13:41Speaker 2: the World Series.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I agree with everything you said and it's super informative.
- 13:46Speaker 1: I want to finish this conversation by saying something that
- 13:49Speaker 1: we might see in the comments. George Springer actually has
- 13:52Speaker 1: had some decent moments with the Blue Jays. It just
- 13:55Speaker 1: feels like a long time ago. The last two years before.
- 13:58Speaker 4: This last year were bad, worse sub par.
- 14:00Speaker 1: YEA, He's a six year, one hundred fifty million dollar
- 14:03Speaker 1: contract at the time, largest in Toronto Blue Jays franchise history. Nowadays,
- 14:06Speaker 1: we look at a deal like that in baseball and
- 14:08Speaker 1: you're like, oh, that's that's fine, and yeah, this year's
- 14:11Speaker 1: been insane for him. Actually, Like in twenty twenty two
- 14:13Speaker 1: he was a four win player OPS plus one thirty two,
- 14:16Speaker 1: whicharge Springer's fine. He's actually had plenty of success in Toronto.
- 14:20Speaker 1: It's just that the had the playoffs for years, looked
- 14:22Speaker 1: like he was declining, and then they're like, oh, you
- 14:24Speaker 1: only got like a year and a half because he
- 14:26Speaker 1: was hurt the one year a year and a half
- 14:27Speaker 1: out of him, and then two in decline and they're like,
- 14:29Speaker 1: oh wait, now he's like a top five MVP. So
- 14:31Speaker 1: just wanted to clear that part up so he doesn't catch,
- 14:34Speaker 1: you know, Freddy frieven Stras during the Dobrawski comments, dude
- 14:41Speaker 1: still had a overall.
- 14:42Speaker 5: But I want to say, I want to come in
- 14:44Speaker 5: real quick and we have to go. But here's the
- 14:46Speaker 5: one thing I want to say about with crowd said,
- 14:47Speaker 5: though I've played for a long time and I was
- 14:49Speaker 5: in the playoffs and in and out of the playoffs,
- 14:50Speaker 5: I never had a conversation with about how you would feel.
- 14:53Speaker 5: You can't tell someone how to feel. I can't tell
- 14:54Speaker 5: someone how they're going to react. And you can't tell
- 14:56Speaker 5: now people. If someone comes up to he goes, what's
- 14:58Speaker 5: it like doing this? You can give him how you feel.
- 15:00Speaker 5: But you can't tell anyone. You can't tell anyone how
- 15:02Speaker 5: much pain tolerance you have. You can't tell anyone how
- 15:04Speaker 5: they're gonna feel until you've experienced. And that's one of
- 15:06Speaker 5: the things we start digging in these new managers. They
- 15:08Speaker 5: don't know like a manager is supposed to be a leader,
- 15:10Speaker 5: and but he can't tell me the Buttera in Washington.
- 15:14Speaker 5: He can't tell me what it's like to be in
- 15:15Speaker 5: the World Series and hit against Roger Clemens Royo's wall
- 15:19Speaker 5: down three and you need to get a hit.
- 15:20Speaker 3: He can't.
- 15:21Speaker 1: He can't tell me nothing for you there.
- 15:22Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying, Like, you can't. You can't tell anybody.
- 15:25Speaker 5: But that doesn't always make you a good or a
- 15:26Speaker 5: bad manager, or a good or a bad leader.
- 15:29Speaker 4: But you can't. You can't.
- 15:31Speaker 5: You can't tell anybody. I can't tell you how you're
- 15:33Speaker 5: gonna feel. I can't tell Michael Bier why he sleeps
- 15:36Speaker 5: and sucks, right. I can't tell Claudia why she yells
- 15:37Speaker 5: at me because I'm late with my picks all the time.
- 15:39Speaker 4: Right now.
- 15:39Speaker 5: I can't tell him. People how to act or how
- 15:41Speaker 5: to feel. You have to experience and then you can
- 15:43Speaker 5: figure it out.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Wow, that's fired left and right.
- 15:47Speaker 2: You can tell them, you can tell them how you felt,
- 15:49Speaker 2: and then they connect that in their mind with how
- 15:52Speaker 2: they're feeling in the moment. That's to me, that's where
- 15:54Speaker 2: the veteran leadership just ooses.
- 15:57Speaker 1: It's ft presented by Fox One. You love the Halloween decorations.
- 16:02Speaker 4: I'm not a huge Halloween person.
- 16:04Speaker 6: I'm not either, but I'll give Claude her her due.
- 16:09Speaker 5: She's done a nice job at a Halloween and I
- 16:11Speaker 5: can't wait because you guys told me you're all dressing
- 16:14Speaker 5: up tomorrow, so I can't wait.
- 16:15Speaker 1: I don't know about me.
- 16:16Speaker 5: No, I heard it on the phone call production Callkrad
- 16:19Speaker 5: said he's got a great costume, and Scott said he's
- 16:22Speaker 5: just gonna dress up like he does on any other
- 16:24Speaker 5: day and look the same.
- 16:24Speaker 7: Right.
- 16:26Speaker 4: And then also behind the scenes people are supposed to
- 16:28Speaker 4: dress up too.
- 16:29Speaker 1: That's fine. I would be okay with that on the
- 16:31Speaker 1: pre and post production calls. Anyway. This show is presented
- 16:34Speaker 1: by Fox one seven day free trial today, foxwe dot com.

- 16:52Speaker 1: Games, State still has to win games like yeah.
- 16:54Speaker 5: And then NFL Sunday, plus all the new shows they
- 16:58Speaker 5: have coming out the floor in ninety nine to one

- 17:20Speaker 1: then also while we have a quick moment here, one
- 17:22Speaker 1: minute to go until the TV crab returns. No Alan Porter.
- 17:28Speaker 5: Just last night, Dodger fans are gonna say, look, he
- 17:32Speaker 5: was point three one one runs for Toronto. That's why
- 17:35Speaker 5: they wont know they won because Trey Savage has disgusting stuff.
- 17:39Speaker 1: There were some pitches down in the zone where he
- 17:42Speaker 1: nailed it to Max who can be a home plate
- 17:45Speaker 1: dump if you wanted thought he had ball four, he
- 17:48Speaker 1: did it. You saw that.
- 17:49Speaker 5: When I get to uh, we get to our locks
- 17:51Speaker 5: rom yesterday, which I won, I do have one beef
- 17:54Speaker 5: the umpires.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Though you do.
- 17:56Speaker 4: We'll talk about it. We'll have a therapy session.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Okay, But I just want to clap it up for
- 18:00Speaker 1: Alan Porter.
- 18:01Speaker 5: Yeah, great job. He was great in the division. He
- 18:03Speaker 5: did the fifteen in a game I did. He was
- 18:04Speaker 5: really good in that game too.
- 18:05Speaker 1: If every MP was Alan Porter, people would be happier.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Yeah, they all try to be.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Every ump is not like Alan Porter, just like every
- 18:15Speaker 2: player is not Shoho TONI reward that man. Reward Shoho
- 18:20Speaker 2: Toni for being the best player in the game. Reward
- 18:24Speaker 2: Alan Porter for consistently having the best scores. If he
- 18:27Speaker 2: does it over your year span, just pay that man
- 18:31Speaker 2: his money.
- 18:38Speaker 1: At corner and in breaking news right before the show,
- 18:40Speaker 1: there were so many manager openings and they're filling up fast,
- 18:43Speaker 1: especially on a World Series off day, Jeff Passon reporting
- 18:46Speaker 1: the Nats finalizing a deal to hire Blake but Terra
- 18:49Speaker 1: as manager. He's thirty three years old. He will be
- 18:51Speaker 1: the youngest manager in Major League Baseball in more than
- 18:54Speaker 1: fifty years. Four seasons as a minor league manager in
- 18:58Speaker 1: the Rays organization. His teams he had a two fifty
- 19:00Speaker 1: eight and one forty four record. His first season as
- 19:03Speaker 1: manager in that organization, he was twenty five years old,
- 19:08Speaker 1: Just a kid, prodigy who's now up to the show.
- 19:11Speaker 1: And then he updates the managerial carousel so far and
- 19:15Speaker 1: says how there are a few positions left, including Atlanta,
- 19:18Speaker 1: San Diego and Colorado. Oh, and also have two of
- 19:23Speaker 1: the six that have been filled so far have major
- 19:27Speaker 1: league manning experience.
- 19:29Speaker 5: Four do not no, I don't even I mean Chross
- 19:35Speaker 5: maybe you know, maybe, But I love that they are
- 19:36Speaker 5: like his managerial record in the minor league was this.
- 19:40Speaker 4: Who cares that A has nothing to do with B.
- 19:43Speaker 4: But this is my thing.
- 19:45Speaker 5: The new GM in Washington wanted somebody he probably knows.
- 19:50Speaker 5: He wanted somebody he could get for barely cheap, and
- 19:53Speaker 5: he wanted somebody he could have conversations with about control and.
- 19:56Speaker 4: How to do things. Boom boom boom.
- 19:59Speaker 5: And the third thing, they wanted somebody from the race,
- 20:01Speaker 5: because every organization wants to be the race.
- 20:03Speaker 4: So this guy, oh, we've worked for the race for
- 20:04Speaker 4: two years. Let's hire them. But are they okay?
- 20:07Speaker 5: So then my next question is, we just said Aaron
- 20:08Speaker 5: Gleman on talking about Derek Shelton, why they hired him
- 20:11Speaker 5: the Nationals. Are they going to try and compete or
- 20:15Speaker 5: are they going back to we're going to rebuild, because
- 20:17Speaker 5: most teams that are trying to compete one a veteran
- 20:19Speaker 5: experience manager, right, And teams that are trying to rebuild
- 20:22Speaker 5: hire the younger guy to try to build and learn
- 20:25Speaker 5: with the team, and then if they get they're there
- 20:27Speaker 5: long enough and they get good. We've seen it, We've
- 20:29Speaker 5: seen it all over the place. They fire the young
- 20:31Speaker 5: guy and bring in the veteran guy to try to get.
- 20:33Speaker 4: Him over the hull.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I can tell you what's going on.
- 20:35Speaker 4: Okay, tell me.
- 20:36Speaker 1: So the ownership group definitely wants to sell the team.
- 20:39Speaker 1: They haven't gotten the price they want. They're doing the
- 20:41Speaker 1: same thing.
- 20:41Speaker 4: So it was just like the twins, are we talking?
- 20:43Speaker 4: Twins are net?
- 20:44Speaker 1: It's basically the same thing. Are they competing? No, they're
- 20:46Speaker 1: not going to be big spenders in the offseason, which
- 20:49Speaker 1: is a surprise to many. But last year was the
- 20:52Speaker 1: year and everyone was like, oh wait, no, so they're
- 20:54Speaker 1: not for real. They're for sale. They are definitely for
- 20:56Speaker 1: sale right now. If you gave them the price they wanted,
- 20:58Speaker 1: they would sell the team tonight. But they're not going
- 21:01Speaker 1: to get it until after the CBA and that's when
- 21:03Speaker 1: franchise values will change. So in the meantime, they're not rebuilding.
- 21:07Speaker 1: They're definitely not competing during the offseason, they're still building.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I would call this team crats still building because they
- 21:15Speaker 1: have some nice pieces that they would like to work
- 21:17Speaker 1: on developing. That's why they bring a player development guy
- 21:19Speaker 1: in and then they will continue to try and build,
- 21:22Speaker 1: get high draft picks and trade guys away when they
- 21:25Speaker 1: get close to free agency, maybe lock up one or
- 21:28Speaker 1: two of the players that they have as part of
- 21:29Speaker 1: their core where you can get cost control, because that's
- 21:32Speaker 1: still good when you're selling a team and you can say, hey,
- 21:35Speaker 1: I have these two stars, they don't cost much. But
- 21:37Speaker 1: that is the Nats in thirty seconds.
- 21:40Speaker 2: All right, There's nothing I can guarantee more than I
- 21:43Speaker 2: can guarantee this. A manager in the big leagues has
- 21:47Speaker 2: zero percent to do with the fact that the Gnats
- 21:51Speaker 2: cannot produce outside of their number one picks big league players. Yes,
- 21:57Speaker 2: people are going to clap back, I mean and say
- 21:59Speaker 2: rendo't and Trey Turner and Bryce Harper and Steven Strausber
- 22:04Speaker 2: I'm talking produce him. And if and if the Gnats
- 22:08Speaker 2: are hiring him for whatever the reasons, you know, it's
- 22:11Speaker 2: easy this way, you know, after the CBA sales all
- 22:15Speaker 2: that stuff. If they're hiring him because of his player
- 22:17Speaker 2: development stuff, hire him in a player development role, not
- 22:22Speaker 2: necessarily to be the manager, because I don't know how
- 22:24Speaker 2: he's gonna be as manager. Maybe he's a great dude,
- 22:27Speaker 2: maybe he is really able to connect with the players.
- 22:29Speaker 2: And the Gnats continue to be third, fourth, fifth in
- 22:35Speaker 2: the National League East, but to me, don't hire him
- 22:39Speaker 2: because you're gonna You're gonna enhance the player development. He's
- 22:42Speaker 2: gonna have maybe three meetings at the beginning of before
- 22:46Speaker 2: the season starts about player development. Player development is a
- 22:50Speaker 2: day to day thing that has to be done, all
- 22:54Speaker 2: boots on the ground type of thing. In that role
- 22:57Speaker 2: as a big league manager, you have z zero control
- 23:01Speaker 2: over player development. You were getting them in the big
- 23:03Speaker 2: leagues and you're helping them develop once they're in there
- 23:07Speaker 2: to be good based big league baseball players. But they
- 23:10Speaker 2: are two separate entities, the manager and player development.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but this is the thing. Right now, things get sexy,
- 23:18Speaker 1: right I'm gonna bring the college coach in.
- 23:19Speaker 4: This is what it is. That's what I said.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Well do you think that?
- 23:22Speaker 5: Also, by the way, the record, like when people are like, oh,
- 23:24Speaker 5: you had this record in the minor leagues, you know
- 23:26Speaker 5: this crafts. In the minor leagues, you're told what bullpen
- 23:28Speaker 5: guy to bring in, when you're told who to pitch,
- 23:31Speaker 5: who has to play, who sits.
- 23:32Speaker 4: In the big leagues, most.
- 23:34Speaker 5: Teams don't do that. You have to make those decisions
- 23:36Speaker 5: on the fly. Now, do they have a script, yes,
- 23:38Speaker 5: But in the minor leagues. It's literally, Hey, this guy
- 23:41Speaker 5: has to get an inning today, no matter what.
- 23:42Speaker 4: This guy has to do this. This guy has to
- 23:44Speaker 4: do this.
- 23:44Speaker 5: In the big leagues, you're trying to win every You're
- 23:46Speaker 5: supposed to be trying to win every game, now, do
- 23:47Speaker 5: you that's a.
- 23:48Speaker 4: Question you can argue at that point. But in the
- 23:51Speaker 4: big leagues, we have no idea what kind of he
- 23:53Speaker 4: could be the best manager of all that? We have
- 23:54Speaker 4: no idea.
- 23:55Speaker 1: I have a question. Guys get called up sooner than
- 23:59Speaker 1: ever now, right? Do you think this is a response
- 24:02Speaker 1: to that, Hey, we're getting players up to the show
- 24:05Speaker 1: that need to continue to develop more than they would.
- 24:08Speaker 5: You rather have them learn from a guy? This is
- 24:10Speaker 5: always my argument, and this is this is not a
- 24:12Speaker 5: knocking in both ways. I see it from both ways.
- 24:14Speaker 5: Would you rather have a guy a manager that's been
- 24:17Speaker 5: around and he's been through situations and can actually talk
- 24:20Speaker 5: guys through situations, Or would you have a guy that, Hey,
- 24:23Speaker 5: I can develop you and get you ready for the
- 24:25Speaker 5: big leagues, but I've never been there.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Right.
- 24:27Speaker 5: This is why the Vitello hiring and this why this
- 24:29Speaker 5: tiring are so intriguing to me, because who they bring
- 24:34Speaker 5: along with them who their coaching staff is, because they're
- 24:37Speaker 5: gonna need people that have been there and done that
- 24:39Speaker 5: to talk to some of these players about what it's
- 24:42Speaker 5: actually like. We had this conversation about the playoffs the
- 24:45Speaker 5: Blue James. Until you've lived it, you can't explain it
- 24:49Speaker 5: to somebody. Till you've done it, you can't explain it.
- 24:51Speaker 5: So it's these these This manager cycle has been fascinating
- 24:55Speaker 5: because there's all these guys that haven't really done it
- 24:58Speaker 5: and they've never been managers or coach is at the
- 25:00Speaker 5: big league level.
- 25:01Speaker 4: So we wish them all up. We'll see how it goes.
- 25:03Speaker 4: But for the most part, this guy doesn't work out right,
- 25:08Speaker 4: this is work. I can't try it, or did and
- 25:13Speaker 4: I don't I and I am not. Believe me.
- 25:16Speaker 2: You've heard all my conspiracies. I love thinking outside the box.
- 25:19Speaker 2: I love well, why why is this going to work?
- 25:21Speaker 2: What does he do that's going to bring a NAT's
- 25:24Speaker 2: team to the brink of the playoffs to you know,
- 25:28Speaker 2: enhance their season by ten wins? What is an example? Previously,
- 25:34Speaker 2: because if you go too far outside the box, you're
- 25:37Speaker 2: not even participating in what's going on in the box
- 25:40Speaker 2: that everyone else is in. I need an example of
- 25:44Speaker 2: why this will work or like where it has worked before,
- 25:48Speaker 2: and people will say, well, theo Epstein was the youngest
- 25:50Speaker 2: general manager ever and look what he's done. You're right, absolutely,
- 25:54Speaker 2: I'm not talking about the youth. I'm talking about the
- 25:56Speaker 2: overall package of inexperience and the youth and just the
- 26:03Speaker 2: respect level of what he's jumping into.
- 26:07Speaker 1: Clayton Kershaw. This is David Assay writing about this Kershaw.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I made the walk from bullpen to dugout after the
- 26:14Speaker 1: last out. This is the last game for Klayton at
- 26:17Speaker 1: the Dodgers Stadium in his career. He was on the
- 26:20Speaker 1: field after the game, playing catch with his son, waving
- 26:24Speaker 1: to his fam. This is it.
- 26:30Speaker 4: That's it.
- 26:31Speaker 5: Never beyond Dodger Stadium again as a player, maybe as
- 26:33Speaker 5: a coach, maybe he was throwing out the first batch
- 26:35Speaker 5: the World Series. Yeah, but not as a player. And
- 26:38Speaker 5: he made this decision, and good for him. He made
- 26:40Speaker 5: a decision. He feels his way from his family, so
- 26:42Speaker 5: take it all in. It sucks they lost for him,
- 26:45Speaker 5: I mean not for the Blue Jays, but it sucks
- 26:46Speaker 5: that they lost. It would have imagine if they would
- 26:48Speaker 5: have won, and this would have been his way out
- 26:49Speaker 5: have been really awesome, but they didn't. He still might win, no,
- 26:52Speaker 5: I know, but I mean at Dodger Stadium, right right,
- 26:55Speaker 5: that would have been the ultimate way a while.
- 26:56Speaker 4: But it didn't work out. But he got to enjoy it.
- 26:59Speaker 5: And there's videos of with his kids and taking pictures
- 27:01Speaker 5: of the ground screwing all that.
- 27:02Speaker 4: Good for you, Clayton.
- 27:03Speaker 1: They won the game he pitched in.
- 27:04Speaker 4: Good for you Clayton.
- 27:05Speaker 1: Yeah, he had a moment.
- 27:07Speaker 4: Very few, like they.
- 27:08Speaker 2: Said, very few guys are able to go out and
- 27:11Speaker 2: knowing like this is the last time they step on
- 27:13Speaker 2: the field.
- 27:13Speaker 4: So good for him.
- 27:15Speaker 2: I went out in the COVID season and I remember
- 27:17Speaker 2: walking across the field pet COO. We just lost to
- 27:21Speaker 2: the Rays at Petco. They were celebrating on the field
- 27:26Speaker 2: and there was no fans in the stands except for
- 27:28Speaker 2: my kids and my wife. So I understand what he
- 27:32Speaker 2: feels because you know, that's the last time you're going
- 27:34Speaker 2: to be on the field. And I hope it looks
- 27:36Speaker 2: like from the pictures he's happy. That's all you can
- 27:39Speaker 2: ask of anybody when they're done playing.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Hey, Katie was doing great reporting on the Cardinals changes
- 27:45Speaker 1: under hein Bloom they're making staff changes throughout the Oregon
- 27:48Speaker 1: addition expanding the pro scouting department. They will add a
- 27:51Speaker 1: director of Hitting and an international Scouting director along with
- 27:55Speaker 1: multiple support roles, kind of filling up some spots that
- 28:00Speaker 1: they didn't have because they had to make I don't.
- 28:03Speaker 4: Know that Mozilla didn't want to have this. No, he
- 28:05Speaker 4: wasn't allowed, That's what I'm saying. So now because the loser,
- 28:08Speaker 4: the Duitz are now allowing him.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Yeah, they're trying to say, right, fine, uncle, this didn't
- 28:14Speaker 1: work the last few years, let's bring it back. She said.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Expect a big emphasis on adding to the player acquisition
- 28:19Speaker 1: departments this winter. They plan to add multiple positions and
- 28:22Speaker 1: increase funding pro and international scouting. This won't impact the
- 28:25Speaker 1: titles of their current assistant gms, but it will give
- 28:28Speaker 1: them more support. Example A in this case, Trey Savage.
- 28:32Speaker 1: I heard the scout that was like basically living down
- 28:36Speaker 1: in Carolina. I mean he does, just attending all his starts,
- 28:40Speaker 1: getting to know him and constantly telling his org.
- 28:44Speaker 4: This the guy.
- 28:44Speaker 1: We probably won't get him because we're twentieth and we're
- 28:46Speaker 1: going to talk about this later, but this is the guy.
- 28:48Speaker 4: But remember Cardinals didn't have as much two things on
- 28:51Speaker 4: this one.
- 28:51Speaker 5: Their organizations remember the moneyball, Like, we don't even need scouts.
- 28:54Speaker 5: We just watched them on TV and do the analytics.
- 28:57Speaker 5: If you don't have a local scout, they're grinding and
- 29:00Speaker 5: knows the kid and knows this makeup.
- 29:02Speaker 4: You don't. You don't stand up for this guy.
- 29:05Speaker 1: This episode of FT is brought to you by Fuel.

- 30:18Speaker 4: My head isn't fascinating. He's okay, because.
- 30:21Speaker 1: We're gonna work on it.
- 30:22Speaker 4: It's my head doesn't fit right.
- 30:24Speaker 1: It's Halloween. Anything goes so ken.
- 30:27Speaker 5: I should have been the sexy nom then. Anyways, back
- 30:29Speaker 5: to Ken Ken.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Right as the Dodgers face elimination, their deficiency seas are
- 30:36Speaker 1: showing up everywhere. He said, think about it. Taking some
- 30:39Speaker 1: parts of the article, I talk a lot every day,
- 30:43Speaker 1: he said, think about it. If not for historic performances
- 30:46Speaker 1: by Yamamoto in Game two and Otani in Game three,
- 30:50Speaker 1: the Dodgers might not have a win in this series.
- 30:53Speaker 1: And he talks about how the position player group is aging.
- 30:56Speaker 1: They enter this postseason with four aces health the how
- 31:01Speaker 1: often does that happen where they're all clicking and healthy
- 31:03Speaker 1: at the same time. Is this the best chance we'll
- 31:07Speaker 1: see you.
- 31:07Speaker 4: But this was the greatest team ever assembled. Remember the
- 31:11Speaker 4: beginning of the year everyone, but we can say that.
- 31:14Speaker 4: I'm gonna say this.
- 31:14Speaker 5: Their starting pitching has been really good the whole year
- 31:17Speaker 5: and when they're healthy and the postseason, right no Copek,
- 31:21Speaker 5: no grad Ll, no Scott, no Tanner Scott, no Vessia.
- 31:26Speaker 5: Right now, I mean their bullpen is not what they
- 31:29Speaker 5: envisioned it being. And the biggest thing, though, is their
- 31:33Speaker 5: offense has gone away and it wasn't great. We had
- 31:36Speaker 5: Joe Davis. It's been gone like this for months. It's
- 31:38Speaker 5: not just in the postseason now the Reds. They hammered
- 31:41Speaker 5: the Reds, but other than that, there's been no offense.
- 31:44Speaker 5: And Mookie Betts, I love dude. I love Mooki Betts.
- 31:46Speaker 5: When he said he's like, I've been terrible.
- 31:48Speaker 4: He owned it. You know what.
- 31:50Speaker 5: I respect you, Mooki for saying that. I played with
- 31:52Speaker 5: Mooki when he first came up and he was great.
- 31:54Speaker 5: But I respect the hell out of someone to stand
- 31:56Speaker 5: in front of the cameras in a city like Los
- 31:58Speaker 5: Angeles in the World Series and say I've been terrible.
- 32:00Speaker 5: I need to figure it out quick. Good for you, Mookie,
- 32:02Speaker 5: but their offense has been terrible, terrible. It's Chuck charles
- 32:06Speaker 5: Burg who's a terrible.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Terrible And there are a lot of guys with veteran,
- 32:10Speaker 1: experienced crats who are getting up there in aage.
- 32:13Speaker 4: They are.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Probably a little too soon to say the age thing,
- 32:19Speaker 2: just because we're not.
- 32:22Speaker 4: Like, let's let's pump the brakes.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Maybe once they lose, maybe once they struggle, you know,
- 32:27Speaker 2: halfway through the year next year, but this stuff's not
- 32:29Speaker 2: going to happen like they these guys put together at
- 32:33Speaker 2: bats consistently as a team. Right now, they're up against it.
- 32:37Speaker 2: Every team, every team goes through these struggles. And last
- 32:41Speaker 2: year during this World Series, we wondered, are the Dodgers
- 32:45Speaker 2: going to be the team that finally gets everybody, you know,
- 32:49Speaker 2: gets over the hump in the playoffs, because even Jeter
- 32:52Speaker 2: was joking about it when he talked to Mookie. Well,
- 32:55Speaker 2: it's only really half a World Series win. But now
- 33:00Speaker 2: they're supposed to be this dynasty. This is how baseball
- 33:03Speaker 2: just ebbs and flows, and their team is built as
- 33:07Speaker 2: a solid foundation team.
- 33:09Speaker 4: I don't think they're too old.
- 33:12Speaker 2: Their starters are going to all come back because they're
- 33:14Speaker 2: not gonna get over work during the regular season and
- 33:17Speaker 2: they'll be.
- 33:17Speaker 4: Back again here next year. But they didn't lose yet.
- 33:20Speaker 2: They still have the best pitcher in the playoffs going
- 33:23Speaker 2: in Yamamoto, And when you push it to a game seven,
- 33:27Speaker 2: it's a coin flip.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Just but this is the chance. This is the team
- 33:36Speaker 1: that can finally figure out winning back to back titles.
- 33:41Speaker 5: And they were supposed to not lose a game the
- 33:43Speaker 5: whole year. Yeah, they're ruining baseball. They're the worst team
- 33:47Speaker 5: in the world for like my hats like the know ye,
- 33:51Speaker 5: but yeah, we're the worst team ever. We we you know,
- 33:54Speaker 5: sting in baseball history. Because the Dodgers are going to
- 33:57Speaker 5: win back to back titles. Well, the Blue Jays are saying.
- 34:00Speaker 4: Not so fast people, as the course used to say,
- 34:02Speaker 4: not so fast, my friend. And yes, Yamamoto could go
- 34:05Speaker 4: out and deal. But Yamamoto could go out.
- 34:07Speaker 6: And get whacked. He got hit against the Phillies. It's possible.
- 34:11Speaker 6: In the first five games, the starters, I know, I
- 34:14Speaker 6: know that the Blue Jays are leading three to two
- 34:17Speaker 6: in the first five. Don't they look like the better,
- 34:20Speaker 6: more complete team, the Blue Jays?
- 34:21Speaker 4: Yeah, one hundred percent. There again.
- 34:23Speaker 5: We said a last time in the post game, the
- 34:24Speaker 5: Blue Jays are literally one swing away from this series
- 34:27Speaker 5: being over for to one.
- 34:28Speaker 4: They're celebrating in La last night. Freddy freemans, if they
- 34:31Speaker 4: could have figured out a way to score a run,
- 34:32Speaker 4: the series was over it.
- 34:33Speaker 1: Yeah, they might have the best starter and the best
- 34:36Speaker 1: obviously player overall, but in terms of complete team, oh, contact,
- 34:45Speaker 1: even pop, defense, bullpen, everything, they've got most categories, the
- 34:54Speaker 1: Dodgers kind of look.
- 34:55Speaker 4: Like the twenty four Yankees a little bit.
- 34:57Speaker 1: That quite the fundamental issues, That's what I'm saying.
- 35:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I've made some mistakes and.
- 35:01Speaker 1: They don't run the basis like drunks.
- 35:03Speaker 4: Well, no, that's true.
- 35:05Speaker 1: I get what you're saying. That was John Sterling. Yeah somebody, Yeah,
- 35:09Speaker 1: John Sterling, I think right. Last year was his last year.
- 35:12Speaker 4: M Faus came over.
- 35:15Speaker 1: Running the bases like drunks. So I don't think it's
- 35:18Speaker 1: like that. But I'll give credit to Dodger fans as
- 35:23Speaker 1: a whole. You know, we have our Dodger's Territory show.
- 35:25Speaker 1: I tune in a lot. They've been critical of this team,
- 35:30Speaker 1: and you can say some of it's jaded, but they
- 35:33Speaker 1: have pointed out flaws. Joe Davis has pointed that out too.
- 35:36Speaker 1: He's calling a lot of Dodger games during the year.
- 35:39Speaker 1: He's like, there was a two and a half month
- 35:40Speaker 1: stretch where this team couldn't hit a lick and everybody
- 35:44Speaker 1: knows about their bullpen issues towards the end of the
- 35:46Speaker 1: season that have carried into the postseason. This is, by
- 35:49Speaker 1: no means a perfect team. This is probably a depressing
- 35:52Speaker 1: clip because we clip stuff like this off for ten
- 35:54Speaker 1: minutes and put it on the YouTube channel. Dodger friends
- 35:57Speaker 1: are gonna big grass a big we suck. We're terrible.
- 36:03Speaker 1: You're not terrible. It's a super talented team. It just
- 36:06Speaker 1: doesn't look like the best team in baseball, and it
- 36:09Speaker 1: certainly doesn't look like one of the best teams of
- 36:11Speaker 1: all time. I think we should wipe that part away.
- 36:14Speaker 1: One of the best teams ever. We saw that from
- 36:16Speaker 1: quite a few media members throwing that out there on
- 36:18Speaker 1: Twitter and articles. This might be the best team ever?
- 36:22Speaker 1: Why because they swept the Brewers. That's it best team ever?
- 36:25Speaker 1: Because they swept the Brewers.
- 36:29Speaker 4: Not for me.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Do you think they're should be even in the same
- 36:33Speaker 1: centen No.
- 36:33Speaker 4: They wouldn't be in my top five, Top five.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Otani is the best player ever. I think we can
- 36:37Speaker 1: make a case for that. But best team.
- 36:40Speaker 4: They didn't win. They didn't even get a buye.
- 36:42Speaker 1: There's auto Auts right now in the lineup too that
- 36:44Speaker 1: they've been trying to.
- 36:45Speaker 5: Figure out of them, and well there's six and whoever
- 36:48Speaker 5: Krats picks to get is be as locked.
- 36:49Speaker 4: Those are the.
- 36:52Speaker 5: If Krafts picked Otani even go for five Freddy, oh,
- 36:58Speaker 5: Krats pick me up?
- 36:59Speaker 1: Screwed?
- 37:00Speaker 2: Well, I already I already locked in my lock for tomorrow,
- 37:03Speaker 2: so already locked it in.
- 37:07Speaker 5: Hopefully it's whoever it is whatever on Halloween, whatever hit
- 37:10Speaker 5: or you pick tomorrow.
- 37:11Speaker 4: They're like, no, there's a block cat No please.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Though, don't do any picks picked the umpire, Yes, pick porter?
- 37:20Speaker 1: How many correct balls and strikes? I have one final
- 37:22Speaker 1: comment and then we got to get to our next guest.
- 37:26Speaker 1: This clip is going to be watched by thousands, but
- 37:29Speaker 1: half the comments are just going to be about the
- 37:31Speaker 1: fact that you guys wear backwards hats.
- 37:33Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:33Speaker 5: I know, well, I'm trying to be like, there are
- 37:35Speaker 5: some people but if I put my what if I here? Now,
- 37:37Speaker 5: do I look like the troll or the no.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Oh, that's good.
- 37:42Speaker 4: That's that's perfect.
- 37:44Speaker 1: That's good. You should wear that more often.
- 37:46Speaker 4: I don't have the plant because Scott moved the plant
- 37:48Speaker 4: on us, but I didn't.
- 37:49Speaker 1: I can't get it or I'll get disconnected. But for
- 37:54Speaker 1: those of you out there that are obsessed with telling
- 37:56Speaker 1: AJ and krats their hats are worn back.
- 37:59Speaker 5: You know you look, you want to know my hats
- 38:01Speaker 5: backwards because look at this hair. I don't have time
- 38:03Speaker 5: like Scott to quaffit daily.
- 38:04Speaker 4: I think it looks good like that, but look, it's
- 38:08Speaker 4: not quaft.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Mine's certainly not quafts.
- 38:13Speaker 4: Where my hat forwards? Does that make people feel like
- 38:15Speaker 4: me better?
- 38:17Speaker 2: Does this make guys? Does this make you guys respect
- 38:20Speaker 2: me more? I want guys wearing their hats the correct way,
- 38:24Speaker 2: and you guys are gonna run sprints every time I
- 38:26Speaker 2: see one of y'all not doing it the right way,
- 38:29Speaker 2: because this is how we play baseball.
- 38:31Speaker 4: The small things. It's the small things. They're gonna make
- 38:34Speaker 4: us win, make us better men, and make us a
- 38:37Speaker 4: better team. That's what I'm doing. Let's go in Minnesota Twins.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Next up, the new trend might be hiring military sergeants
- 38:46Speaker 1: to be.
- 38:47Speaker 4: Made they tried to banister.
- 38:51Speaker 1: They tried it, Pirates tried to do military drills. MLB's
- 39:04Speaker 1: most interesting man is rookie Trey Is Savage. Absolutely dominated
- 39:11Speaker 1: the Dodgers to give the Blue Jays a three to
- 39:13Speaker 1: two series edge. Don't forget how he dominated the Yankees
- 39:17Speaker 1: in the Alds. This dude has barely touched the big leagues,
- 39:22Speaker 1: but he is playing postseason ball as well as any
- 39:25Speaker 1: rookie pitcher in Major League history. And there's more to
- 39:28Speaker 1: the story. There's actually a lot more to the story.
- 39:30Speaker 3: Why.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Because he didn't think he was going to be doing
- 39:33Speaker 1: this right now. So we're learning a lot about Trey
- 39:36Speaker 1: number one taking classes at the moment, taking classes, how
- 39:44Speaker 1: many four four?
- 39:46Speaker 4: Trying to go into classes.
- 39:47Speaker 1: Yeah, because he thought October was going to be kind
- 39:50Speaker 1: of chill. This yeah they do, but not when they expect.
- 39:56Speaker 4: You know, as Maggie Johnson said, this is a big game.
- 39:58Speaker 4: Whoever wins this takes control of the series.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Trey knew it.
- 40:01Speaker 4: Trey Is Savage was to saw that tweet.
- 40:03Speaker 1: He did you know why? Because he was he was
- 40:05Speaker 1: locked in crats. There was a pain on him to
- 40:08Speaker 1: show off how locked in he was And did you
- 40:09Speaker 1: hear the quote that he said, Oh you didn't hear
- 40:12Speaker 1: about this?
- 40:12Speaker 4: No, but okay, go ahead because then I have another
- 40:15Speaker 4: question about this.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Okay, because you're really going to enjoy this. So there's
- 40:18Speaker 1: there's this picture of him in the clubhouse. Here it
- 40:22Speaker 1: is because we have the best production team in the
- 40:24Speaker 1: pass and they says Trey Savage is locked in, and
- 40:28Speaker 1: they show the name plate and him with the headphones on.
- 40:32Speaker 1: But what you don't see, well you can kind of
- 40:34Speaker 1: see that he's on his phone. He goes, quote, I
- 40:36Speaker 1: saw something on Instagram that someone took a video of
- 40:38Speaker 1: me on my phone saying I was locked in, but
- 40:40Speaker 1: I was just doom scrolling on TikTok and Instagram reels.
- 40:44Speaker 4: I mean, it's such a screen ager, such a screen ager.
- 40:47Speaker 4: It's awesome.
- 40:47Speaker 5: And he said college last year, this kid, But it's awesome,
- 40:51Speaker 5: but I'm still in college.
- 40:53Speaker 4: He is still in college, right, he's got yeah. True.
- 40:56Speaker 5: But when they showed his parents, why his parents, We
- 40:59Speaker 5: can't get his parents blue hats. They just have group
- 41:01Speaker 5: their waste management MLB. Look, we can't get a We
- 41:05Speaker 5: can't get.
- 41:05Speaker 1: Them like some Blue Jays gear Like MLB got to
- 41:08Speaker 1: them first.
- 41:09Speaker 5: Scott can you or Cras, Can you call the Blue Jays?
- 41:11Speaker 5: Who's the home guy in Toronto? Now, the clubhouse guy?
- 41:15Speaker 5: Can we call him and get some can we get
- 41:17Speaker 5: can we get some gear?
- 41:20Speaker 4: I mean I got some extra hats here, like if
- 41:21Speaker 4: we want just do you want some hats? Me?
- 41:23Speaker 2: Tell me what the savage I'll drive them, I'll drive
- 41:26Speaker 2: them up there. He only lives twenty minutes from my house.
- 41:28Speaker 2: So Boyertown, Pennsylvania, kid, that's what That's what they do.
- 41:32Speaker 4: Though.
- 41:32Speaker 2: When you're built in the fire, the cauldron of Pennsylvania,
- 41:38Speaker 2: you know what you show up in big moments.
- 41:40Speaker 4: Florida guys, they kind of like flake Off m right.
- 41:45Speaker 1: One of his four online classes that he's taking right now,
- 41:48Speaker 1: media criticism.
- 41:50Speaker 4: Nice.
- 41:50Speaker 5: That sounds like a fun clause. Just so that's why
- 41:53Speaker 5: he's on Instagram. He's just commenting on everything.
- 41:55Speaker 1: He goes through our clips.
- 41:56Speaker 5: He just comments, Like all the people that are all
- 41:58Speaker 5: on Twitter, Instagram, the comments, you know, they just they
- 42:02Speaker 5: learned media criticism.
- 42:03Speaker 1: That's good. Here's another one to make him the most
- 42:06Speaker 1: interesting man we've touched on this. But I want to
- 42:09Speaker 1: make sure that we emphasize that.
- 42:11Speaker 4: He can build a barn with his bare hands like craps.
- 42:13Speaker 1: He's the most interesting man, horse and buggy, even when
- 42:18Speaker 1: he's home. But wait, there's more. But wait, there's more.
- 42:22Speaker 1: He has to check out when he leaves, put his
- 42:25Speaker 1: stuff in his car like a storage unit, and then
- 42:28Speaker 1: get back in town, get all of his stuff and
- 42:31Speaker 1: recheck in and react.
- 42:32Speaker 5: We had this, I had this conversation about the postseason process.
- 42:36Speaker 4: Yeah, we used to check in and check out all
- 42:37Speaker 4: the time.
- 42:38Speaker 1: But I have a question.
- 42:38Speaker 5: We used to do this because your lease is up
- 42:41Speaker 5: and you don't want to pay. If you're on the
- 42:42Speaker 5: road for a week, you don't want to pay for
- 42:43Speaker 5: that week, especially when you're not making a ton of money.
- 42:45Speaker 5: So the hotel lets you check out. Now, when I
- 42:47Speaker 5: was a triple A, we used to in Salt Lake.
- 42:49Speaker 5: We used to stay had this Candlewood sweets and it
- 42:51Speaker 5: was like ten or fifteen dollars a day and we
- 42:54Speaker 5: check out and they just let us store our luggae
- 42:55Speaker 5: while we're on the road trips in the closet and
- 42:57Speaker 5: then we come back and they have our rooms ready.
- 42:59Speaker 5: It was great because they had the back then Canada
- 43:02Speaker 5: with sweets. We're like, oh my gosh, four seasons Peninsula,
- 43:05Speaker 5: whatever I'm on whatever, you know, but this is.
- 43:09Speaker 4: Not you're making this a thing. This is not a thing.
- 43:12Speaker 5: When I was in the World Series two thousand and five,
- 43:14Speaker 5: I'd go, I stayed in the hotel, I'd check out
- 43:16Speaker 5: and we went on the road and I'd come back
- 43:18Speaker 5: and they were like, your room's ready.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Can't you just stay?
- 43:23Speaker 4: You gotta pay for it.
- 43:25Speaker 1: I know. But for Trey, for example.
- 43:27Speaker 4: He's not making that. He's not making that now.
- 43:28Speaker 1: I mean, he's gonna get a nice playoff share as
- 43:30Speaker 1: he talked about, yes.
- 43:31Speaker 4: But right now he might not have. I mean, he
- 43:33Speaker 4: was a first round pick, he.
- 43:34Speaker 1: Made four million dollars signing bonus. Yeah, but still yeah,
- 43:37Speaker 1: I'm just saying.
- 43:39Speaker 5: He's probably got one bag of clothes that he's because again,
- 43:41Speaker 5: this kid was started an able. She's probably got one
- 43:44Speaker 5: bag of clothes, right, great cratzy that he's lived with
- 43:46Speaker 5: his whole life. He's probably got like one suit if
- 43:48Speaker 5: they still even wear suits anymore, which most teams don't. Right,
- 43:51Speaker 5: So he's just got this one bag.
- 43:52Speaker 4: He just whatever. He throws in his car and does
- 43:55Speaker 4: his laundry washing fold.
- 43:57Speaker 5: If you don't know what a washing fold is, off
- 44:01Speaker 5: you drop it off, you pay like a certain amount
- 44:03Speaker 5: per pound, and you pick it up and smells all
- 44:05Speaker 5: nice and it's all folded and you hand just they
- 44:07Speaker 5: just hand it to you and it's all fold and
- 44:08Speaker 5: you don't have to worry.
- 44:09Speaker 4: About It's awesome.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Can you pay the club he used to do it
- 44:12Speaker 1: or that's.
- 44:12Speaker 4: Yeah, you guys don't really do that. I mean, some
- 44:14Speaker 4: guys used to do that, but.
- 44:16Speaker 1: Guys, yeah, it's easier.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll double down on this. Two thousand and fourteen,
- 44:26Speaker 2: we're in the World Series. We went residence in for
- 44:29Speaker 2: the entire month of October because I got traded to
- 44:31Speaker 2: the Royals in July. I was, you know, in and
- 44:35Speaker 2: out of hotels, you check out, and then my family
- 44:37Speaker 2: came to the postseason, so we were doing all this
- 44:40Speaker 2: and then checking into the hotel in San Francisco or
- 44:46Speaker 2: when we went to Baltimore. So you're checking in and out,
- 44:50Speaker 2: and if you find a hotel like AJ said, that
- 44:52Speaker 2: keeps your stuff, the other issue is like, that's huge.
- 44:57Speaker 2: The other issue is your other teammates are there, and
- 44:59Speaker 2: some some times your teammates are in the hotel and
- 45:04Speaker 2: they don't have to play the next day. You know,
- 45:06Speaker 2: a pitcher that just pitched. Hotels can get loud, you
- 45:08Speaker 2: don't get sleep during the playoffs. So there's other things
- 45:11Speaker 2: that are It's not just a tray you savage life.
- 45:16Speaker 1: The old card experience was a slow burned, long grind. Right,
- 45:24Speaker 1: find the box, find the pack you want, open the pack.
- 45:28Speaker 1: Most of the cards?
- 45:30Speaker 2: Nah?
- 45:31Speaker 1: Right, you got one that's worth something, Now send it
- 45:34Speaker 1: in for grading. I mean, the list goes on and
- 45:37Speaker 1: are you want to sell it? Now?
- 45:38Speaker 3: You got to put it up.

- 47:43Speaker 5: to learn a lot about the game because they weren't
- 47:45Speaker 5: just gonna with Tom Kelly there. They weren't just going
- 47:48Speaker 5: to call you up and say go get them. You
- 47:49Speaker 5: had to know how to do a lot of stuff.
- 47:52Speaker 1: I wasn't trolling earlier. I'm serious. Derek Shelton is going
- 47:56Speaker 1: to feel like he's on a first class flight now
