- 0:01Speaker 1: So here's what I like. Here's what I like. I
- 0:04Speaker 1: like when you and your wisdom guide me and thus
- 0:08Speaker 1: all of us towards some conclusions that are just spot on.
- 0:12Speaker 1: On yesterday, I was asking you, why would these AI
- 0:16Speaker 1: companies be so enthused about government oversight? What kind of
- 0:19Speaker 1: company in its right mind wants government up in its business?
- 0:23Speaker 1: And your answer is one that is just crystallizing within me.
- 0:26Speaker 1: The concrete is setting. It's because the tech is a
- 0:30Speaker 1: bunch of leftists. They crave the protection of government against lawsuits.
- 0:35Speaker 1: the creation of a cartel so that they can be
- 0:37Speaker 1: too big to fail. The positives vastly outweigh the negatives
- 0:42Speaker 1: of government getting involved. And if any more Bernie Sanders,
- 0:45Speaker 1: Barack Obama, Hakeem Jeffries people jump on this, I'm going
- 0:49Speaker 1: to become– I'm going full Trump, which is.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Always a good idea. Well, they are jumping on it, though, Mark.
- 0:54Speaker 1: I know, but I'm saying if any more. Because that
- 0:57Speaker 1: is it.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Barack Obama.
- 0:58Speaker 1: And that doesn't mean that the concerns are not valid
- 1:02Speaker 1: because they are. And I want people to be really vigilant,
- 1:05Speaker 1: eyes wide open, because there's a bad angle to this
- 1:08Speaker 1: that could absolutely play out. But we've got to beat
- 1:10Speaker 1: the Chinese. I'm going to have some confidence in the
- 1:12Speaker 1: free marketplace. I'm going to trust that we seem to
- 1:15Speaker 1: have our eyes open about this and sort of see
- 1:17Speaker 1: it coming and suggest that there is a lot of
- 1:19Speaker 1: politics between leftists, both in the private sector. And Congress
- 1:23Speaker 1: want to get their grubbies all over.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Let me let me get really personal for a moment
- 1:28Speaker 2: about sort of my relationship with the 45th and 47th
- 1:32Speaker 2: president of the United States. You know, there's a lot
- 1:34Speaker 2: of bluster. There's a lot of drama. Ultimately, I trust
- 1:38Speaker 2: his instincts. And I really do trust the guy. This
- 1:41Speaker 2: is why we voted for him three times. And he
- 1:46Speaker 2: is saying that the AI industry's apocalyptic warnings, which we
- 1:52Speaker 2: know are fueled, it's already been revealed in part by China.
- 1:56Speaker 2: China is stoking the fear. They found thousands and thousands
- 2:01Speaker 2: of bots and all this fake, artificial, inorganic narratives being
- 2:07Speaker 2: delivered about the dangers of whether it's data centers, AI,
- 2:13Speaker 2: all of it. Trump describes it as part of a
- 2:16Speaker 2: sick conspiracy to sabotage America. And the legacy that right
- 2:21Speaker 2: now he's creating. Is there any doubt in your mind
- 2:24Speaker 2: that leftists want to sabotage America? None whatsoever.
- 2:29Speaker 1: And yet, if there's a little asterisk I can attach,
- 2:33Speaker 1: it is that while that would be the Chinese point
- 2:36Speaker 1: and while that would be we just talked about Democrat
- 2:38Speaker 1: motivation and now you had Chinese motivation. Correct, correct, correct.
- 2:42Speaker 1: But that doesn't mean that just Joe and Jane citizens
- 2:45Speaker 1: sitting there going, man, this could really get bad. Just
- 2:49Speaker 1: because we can do something doesn't mean we should. I'm
- 2:51Speaker 1: a little concerned about the tech getting out in front
- 2:53Speaker 1: of the morality. It doesn't mean those people are wrong.
- 2:57Speaker 2: No, you and I had that conversation Sunday afternoon. That's
- 3:01Speaker 2: a logical thing to consider. That's a logical, normal, understandable
- 3:06Speaker 2: concern we all have. Look, we could have all had
- 3:09Speaker 2: a logical concern. Are we all going to drop dead
- 3:11Speaker 2: of COVID? I mean, we knew what we didn't know.
- 3:16Speaker 2: But here's what Trump wrote on social media that I
- 3:18Speaker 2: think rings true. He said, I'm the hoax buster, which
- 3:22Speaker 2: I love. Who are you going to call? Who are
- 3:25Speaker 2: you going to call? I'm breaking another hoax that AI
- 3:29Speaker 2: is going to take over, consume, and destroy the world,
- 3:33Speaker 2: and that robots will be marching into our cities and
- 3:35Speaker 2: getting rid of us all. This is even wilder than
- 3:39Speaker 2: the Russia, Russia, Russia hoax or the global warming scam.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Thank you for your attention to this matter, President Donald J. Trump. But,
- 3:46Speaker 2: I mean, he makes a good point here that there
- 3:49Speaker 2: is this— what alarms me about the panic is that it
- 3:53Speaker 2: came out of nowhere. It's like all of a sudden.
- 3:55Speaker 2: It's only in the last few days that we've decided
- 3:58Speaker 2: that humanity is going to be completely dissolved in a decade.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Yeah, this guy, this Jacob, Jason Coxon, this kid who
- 4:04Speaker 1: looks like he's 12, he's been working for Anthropic for
- 4:07Speaker 1: not that long and wrote this post. If anybody's wondering
- 4:10Speaker 1: how did this catch fire in the last five days—
- 4:13Speaker 1: He put a post and said, I resign from Anthropic
- 4:15Speaker 1: today because there are things I've seen that give me
- 4:18Speaker 1: enormous concerns that it's all going to go off the
- 4:19Speaker 1: rails and there aren't enough people paying attention. And it
- 4:22Speaker 1: just got a squillion reposts and went hugely viral. He's
- 4:27Speaker 1: on all the shows now.
- 4:29Speaker 2: I know. Anyway, hey, I want to get into this
- 4:33Speaker 2: whole thing about– you talked to Beau French yesterday on
- 4:36Speaker 2: your show, right? Sure did. So tell us all about
- 4:39Speaker 2: it because I missed it and I'm sorry. No, no, no. But,
- 4:42Speaker 2: you know, Cornyn and other Republicans, here's the takeaway headline
- 4:46Speaker 2: over at MediaEye. Senator John Cornyn and several other Republicans
- 4:49Speaker 2: denounced GOP candidate Beau French for posting a racist picture
- 4:55Speaker 2: where he complained about a bunch of non-white students celebrating
- 4:59Speaker 2: the University of Texas football team's wild comeback victory against
- 5:03Speaker 2: Ohio State. French, a conservative who is running, and forgive me, Texans,
- 5:09Speaker 2: don't get mad at me, How important is the railroad commissioner? Well,
- 5:13Speaker 2: it's oil and gas regulations. So it's not one of
- 5:17Speaker 2: those front of mind. So, yes, it is. I kept
- 5:20Speaker 2: thinking of Choo Choo Charlie with his hat on. Good
- 5:23Speaker 2: and plenty. Good and plenty out there. Petticoat Junction, the
- 5:28Speaker 2: train pulling into the junction. OK, so it's an important position. Yes.
- 5:32Speaker 2: And people are very, including Karl Rove. who evidently stood
- 5:37Speaker 2: up and he's going to vote for a Democrat for
- 5:39Speaker 2: railroad commissioner. Knock me over with a feather. Yeah, what
- 5:42Speaker 2: a shocker that Karl Rove is going to go establishment
- 5:45Speaker 2: squish and support a Democrat. But, you know, going back
- 5:49Speaker 2: to your question that you had of me yesterday, it
- 5:51Speaker 2: wasn't a good look. I'm going to admit it. I'm
- 5:54Speaker 2: going to admit it's not my favorite thing. I don't
- 5:56Speaker 2: like it. I don't like giving independents more reason to
- 6:00Speaker 2: be right. repelled by the Republican message. But on the
- 6:04Speaker 2: other hand, all right, it's an inappropriate meme. It was
- 6:08Speaker 2: a stupid thing to say. I don't know if he's
- 6:10Speaker 2: going to even think about taking it down or apologizing
- 6:13Speaker 2: for it. Nor should he. Well, what did he tell
- 6:15Speaker 2: you about it yesterday? He said it's not any... None
- 6:17Speaker 2: of this is about race.
- 6:18Speaker 1: It's about taking a look at the University of Texas
- 6:21Speaker 1: student body and saying, whoa, we might be allowing way
- 6:24Speaker 1: too many foreigners in here. It's taking a look at
- 6:26Speaker 1: American workplaces and saying, whoa, we might be allowing way
- 6:29Speaker 1: too many H-1B visas in here at the expense of
- 6:32Speaker 1: American students and at the expense of American workers. Try
- 6:36Speaker 1: to get pushback on that because he's 1,000 percent right now.
- 6:40Speaker 2: If that's the reason, if that's the real reason. If
- 6:43Speaker 2: what's the reason? If the reason is, I mean, I'm
- 6:47Speaker 2: hearing you say it's not about race and his explanation
- 6:50Speaker 2: really makes it all about race. Because he wants a
- 6:53Speaker 2: bunch of white kids in that picture. How about a
- 6:56Speaker 2: black American kid?
- 6:58Speaker 1: How about a Japanese kid who's lived here forever?
- 7:01Speaker 2: This has absolutely nothing about race. So Indian kids who
- 7:06Speaker 2: come to this country to legitimately pursue a degree at
- 7:10Speaker 2: the University of Texas shouldn't be here, but a black
- 7:12Speaker 2: or white kid, American kid should?
- 7:14Speaker 1: There should be preference for American kids. We are allowing
- 7:18Speaker 1: way too many spaces to be taken over by kids
- 7:21Speaker 1: who are from foreign countries.
- 7:22Speaker 2: That is the assertion. That doesn't bother me one bit. Well,
- 7:25Speaker 2: it bothers me a lot. Tell me why. Why does it?
- 7:29Speaker 2: Why can't an Indian kid have a legitimate path to
- 7:32Speaker 2: come here to the United States? How many are you
- 7:34Speaker 2: going to have? Well, how many do you want to restrict?
- 7:40Speaker 1: You want to restrict Indian kids from coming to the
- 7:42Speaker 1: United States? Any number is going to be arbitrary. You
- 7:45Speaker 1: want to restrict immigration?
- 7:46Speaker 2: I do. I want to restrict immigration. I want to
- 7:48Speaker 2: kick out illegal immigrants. I want to kick out illegal immigrants.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Guess what? That doesn't apply to what you're saying. That
- 7:53Speaker 2: has nothing to do with what you're saying.
- 7:55Speaker 1: But have you ever said— and I don't know that you have—
- 7:58Speaker 1: That maybe we're allowing too many people in legally and
- 8:01Speaker 1: that maybe there are American places. I have never said
- 8:03Speaker 1: that and I don't really think that. I'll say it
- 8:06Speaker 1: every day. Well, I don't think that. I think we
- 8:08Speaker 1: have way the heck too much legal immigration. Way too much.
- 8:12Speaker 2: I strongly disagree with that because I think legal immigration– listen,
- 8:16Speaker 2: I don't know about your grandparents, but I'm the product
- 8:18Speaker 2: of legal immigration. I understand. My grandparents came over here,
- 8:22Speaker 2: and you're telling– you're spitting in their face. You're telling me, well,
- 8:26Speaker 2: we've got too much legal immigration. Yes, we do. You're
- 8:30Speaker 2: playing into that narrative that– baloney. Okay, Ann Coulter-Light. I mean,
- 8:34Speaker 2: give me a break here. We ought to focus– we've
- 8:37Speaker 2: got enough problem with illegal immigrants. How about we deal
- 8:39Speaker 2: with the illegal immigration? I'm going to get greedy. I
- 8:42Speaker 2: want to solve both problems. Good luck with that.
- 8:44Speaker 1: And what I hope you'll refrain from doing is taking
- 8:47Speaker 1: a look at something that you may disagree with on policy.
- 8:50Speaker 1: And thus presuming, as the leftist media would and has,
- 8:54Speaker 1: that it must be racism. I mean, you did it
- 8:56Speaker 1: three minutes ago and say, well, he must want all
- 8:58Speaker 1: the kids to be white.
- 8:59Speaker 2: No, I said that. That is pure MS now. No,
- 9:02Speaker 2: I said that's what the argument is. I'm not sure
- 9:04Speaker 2: that that's what he said. And look, I've seen the
- 9:07Speaker 2: guy's record and I kind of like the guy. I
- 9:09Speaker 2: just think it was a mistake to post it the
- 9:11Speaker 2: way he did. And again, it's a self-inflicted wound because
- 9:15Speaker 2: he needs to win in Texas. Republicans need to win
- 9:17Speaker 2: in Texas. He will. And this could reflect on Paxton.
- 9:21Speaker 2: This could reflect on Abbott. This is forgotten in a week. However,
- 9:27Speaker 2: I do want to throw some cred to your point
- 9:31Speaker 2: about optics. If you want to make the point that
- 9:33Speaker 2: you and I have thoughtfully discussed for these last four
- 9:36Speaker 2: or five minutes, Is it the most helpful thing in
- 9:38Speaker 2: the world to make your chosen visual celebrating kids after
- 9:43Speaker 2: the UT went over Ohio State and part of the
- 9:46Speaker 2: student section that just happens to be a bunch of
- 9:47Speaker 2: Indian kids?
- 9:48Speaker 1: It's the definition of assimilation. Those are the kind of
- 9:51Speaker 1: ones we want, so to speak. That's my point.
- 9:55Speaker 2: But that goes back to the core point that we
- 9:57Speaker 2: began a few minutes ago. And I want to go
- 9:59Speaker 2: back to this. Mark, because it's important because I'm actually
- 10:02Speaker 2: surprised at your position because that is an Ann Coulter position. Oh,
- 10:05Speaker 2: we got too many legal immigrants here as well as
- 10:08Speaker 2: too many illegal immigrants. I think we do. We should
- 10:10Speaker 2: celebrate legal immigrants, Mark, not condemn them.
- 10:12Speaker 1: But how many do you want to have? Every single
- 10:15Speaker 1: living person with a soul and a breath?
- 10:17Speaker 2: Come on. Everybody, everybody.
- 10:19Speaker 1: American culture will be lost. Have you been to Plano?
- 10:23Speaker 1: Have you been to Frisco? I mean, listen, if you're
- 10:25Speaker 1: kind of walking around Washington Square Park, it's a given
- 10:28Speaker 1: that there's going to be a little U.N. absolutely everywhere.
- 10:31Speaker 1: But in Texas, must we must we have that everywhere?
- 10:35Speaker 2: Well, when you say everywhere and everybody, you make it
- 10:38Speaker 2: sound as if there's not going to be any white
- 10:39Speaker 2: or black people left. I mean, for crying out loud,
- 10:42Speaker 2: why do you want to– what you just said, it's
- 10:45Speaker 2: going to be everybody or we're going to just have
- 10:46Speaker 2: Indian kids or we just– I mean, you sound– it's
- 10:49Speaker 2: a little peculiar. This is such– and I guess that
- 10:53Speaker 2: it's a popular argument with our base. Oh, let's just
- 10:56Speaker 2: stop everybody from coming in here. I thought– you're moving
- 11:00Speaker 2: the goalposts. Because I thought we said we want to
- 11:02Speaker 2: hold immigration to people who play by the rules, who
- 11:05Speaker 2: follow the rules, who do it the right way, who
- 11:09Speaker 2: do it by the book. And here you are saying, yeah,
- 11:11Speaker 2: but there's too many of them. There's too many of them.
- 11:14Speaker 1: And even within that definition that you so aptly put,
- 11:17Speaker 1: the people who play by the rules come in and
- 11:19Speaker 1: want to assimilate. Absolutely, but even with that honorable sliver,
- 11:24Speaker 1: I'm going to draw a certain limit on how many
- 11:26Speaker 1: we welcome in, and we may be welcoming in too
- 11:28Speaker 1: damn many.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Well, what would the limit be? I don't know. I'll
- 11:32Speaker 2: let people figure that out. Oh, well, you ought to
- 11:35Speaker 2: figure it out. If you're making the argument that you
- 11:37Speaker 2: ought to be the one that does it, 30%, 50%, 90%?
- 11:39Speaker 2: Of what? I mean, of the legal immigrants that are
- 11:44Speaker 2: coming in here, how many do you want to stop?
- 11:45Speaker 2: Would I reduce it by half? In a heartbeat. So
- 11:51Speaker 2: what do you tell to the half that you've denied
- 11:54Speaker 2: that our argument has always been play by the rules,
- 11:58Speaker 2: pay your dues, get the lawyers, do everything you've got
- 12:01Speaker 2: to do to try to get into this country legally?
- 12:02Speaker 2: And we'll take all of you. Let me turn the
- 12:05Speaker 2: question back on you. No limits? Absolutely no limit, Emma Lazarus?
- 12:10Speaker 2: No limit? Well, I don't know how you limit it.
- 12:15Speaker 2: You establish limits. I expect that there's parameters. I think
- 12:19Speaker 2: there's an expectation to assimilate. I love the Teddy Roosevelt
- 12:23Speaker 2: speech about assimilation and expecting immigrants. I don't mind putting
- 12:26Speaker 2: some more guidelines up or some more parameters, but to
- 12:30Speaker 2: sit around and just say there's just too many. What's
- 12:33Speaker 2: a guideline and a parameter? Isn't that a limit? A
- 12:36Speaker 2: limit like assimilation rules that have to apply to that
- 12:40Speaker 2: legal immigration.
- 12:40Speaker 1: But if you're willing, if you're willing to assimilate, we'll
- 12:42Speaker 1: take every single living soul from the most populous, second
- 12:46Speaker 1: most populous country in the world.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Sure. You make it sound like there's trillions of people.
- 12:50Speaker 2: It's not. I mean, there's a whole bunch of productive
- 12:53Speaker 2: legal immigrants who are making this country better. And you're
- 12:58Speaker 2: spitting in them. You're saying, no, I don't want them here.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Too many of you. Too many damn immigrants.
- 13:02Speaker 1: We are going to finish that sentence.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I sound like who? You sound like the old man
- 13:08Speaker 2: in the yard who doesn't like the kids playing wiffle
- 13:10Speaker 2: ball out on the street. We got too many immigrants
- 13:13Speaker 2: in this country. And you sound like Tallarico, so bum.
- 13:18Speaker 2: God is non-binary. Jesus is non-binary. Except with you, I'm
- 13:23Speaker 2: kind of kidding.
- 13:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:25Speaker 2: All right. I hope so. No, I get it. This
- 13:27Speaker 2: is why we do it. It's a good issue, and
- 13:29Speaker 2: I want to dive into it more today. Oh, we
- 13:31Speaker 2: will now. Get ready. Trump could resign, and this is
- 13:36Speaker 2: the podcast today. I'm kidding. I got the perfect text
- 13:40Speaker 2: on the line just now from Dallas, Texas. Mike, there
- 13:43Speaker 2: are way too many Irish people. immigrants in this country
- 13:46Speaker 2: get out. No Irish need apply. No Irish. We don't
- 13:50Speaker 2: need the Irish. We don't need the Polish. Mark Davis
- 13:54Speaker 2: says there's too many of you. We've got to get
- 13:56Speaker 2: them out. But look, and I do get your point, Mark.
- 14:00Speaker 2: Let me just end this by recognizing there are communities
- 14:04Speaker 2: right now that don't even resemble American cities. I get it.
- 14:09Speaker 2: But I get real nervous about going from We're all
- 14:13Speaker 2: about legal immigration to now we're not about legal immigration.
- 14:16Speaker 2: That's all I'm saying. But I take your point as well.
- 14:19Speaker 2: We will pursue this on the M & M Extra today.
- 14:22Speaker 2: That would be great. I can guarantee it. I think
- 14:26Speaker 2: so too.
