Transcript
- 0:09Speaker 1: Meryl, let me ask you this question.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Sure, So when you the last time you and I
- 0:14Speaker 2: spoke on WBCB, you talked about your process and you
- 0:17Speaker 2: just talked about that, like leading up to a game day,
- 0:20Speaker 2: in the game, you get to the stadium with the club.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Let's go to Green Bay yesterday. What do you do
- 0:25Speaker 2: when you got there? What's your process to get ready
- 0:27Speaker 2: for the game on game day?
- 0:28Speaker 1: Well, first we arrived and we went in the media entrance,
- 0:32Speaker 1: and then we took an elevator up to the seventh floor,
- 0:35Speaker 1: and then we walked one hundred and eighty degrees around
- 0:37Speaker 1: the stadium on a concrete floor. So that this morning
- 0:41Speaker 1: when I got home and I got into bed, I
- 0:43Speaker 1: had shin splints. I did careful. Did you ever have shintsplins? No,
- 0:49Speaker 1: I've heard of him, Matt. Did you ever have shint splints? Yes, yeah,
- 0:53Speaker 1: most of us real athletes have. Show thank you, thank
- 0:55Speaker 1: you for that. And it was from walking on the
- 0:57Speaker 1: concrete floor about a mile and with with the temperature
- 1:02Speaker 1: in the low twenties, so it was a little hard.
- 1:05Speaker 1: You really feel it on your body.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Now, Remember you tell you were the first and play
- 1:09Speaker 2: by PLAYBOYE to tell me this so so when you're
- 1:12Speaker 2: calling the game with Mike Quack here, you have the
- 1:14Speaker 2: the you have the windows open, correct, you still do that, yes,
- 1:17Speaker 2: of course, and that's for the You want to hear
- 1:19Speaker 2: the crowd.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Yeah, you want to be part of it. You want
- 1:22Speaker 1: to really feel the game.
- 1:24Speaker 2: And what and and because your headphones are on, I mean,
- 1:27Speaker 2: you could hear it, but it doesn't distract you.
- 1:29Speaker 1: No, no, it's it's not the same. The only booth
- 1:33Speaker 1: now in the National Football League that is glassed in
- 1:36Speaker 1: with unremovable glasses Kansas City, Ah, Arrowhead, Arrowhead. You know that.
- 1:41Speaker 1: And we don't like that. We really don't like that.
- 1:44Speaker 1: You feel detached. You get the crowd noise from a
- 1:47Speaker 1: crowd mic, but it's not the same. You want to
- 1:50Speaker 1: be out there, no matter how old. I know. The
- 1:52Speaker 1: first year that we did the games, we were we
- 1:54Speaker 1: were some placed and they had the windows that could
- 1:57Speaker 1: go up and down. It was called Mike said, let's
- 2:00Speaker 1: out the windows. I said, no, I want to feel
- 2:03Speaker 1: the game. Sure, Mike said, well, if you really want
- 2:05Speaker 1: to feel the game, go down there and let them
- 2:07Speaker 1: hit you. That's what he said, go down and let
- 2:11Speaker 1: them hit you. So then the next week we were
- 2:13Speaker 1: someplace where the windows did not come out, And after
- 2:18Speaker 1: the game, Mike said to me, Uh, you know what,
- 2:22Speaker 1: I never want to do the game behind glass again.
- 2:25Speaker 1: It felt like I was in a library. Wow, you
- 2:28Speaker 1: don't want to quiet. You don't want that. You want
- 2:30Speaker 1: you want you know, you've been to the press box
- 2:32Speaker 1: at the Lincoln Finished so many times, and all the guys,
- 2:35Speaker 1: all the guys and girls there, all the media people
- 2:38Speaker 1: sit in my big press box behind glass. That's awful. Wellowed.
- 2:44Speaker 2: You have to keep the noise to a minimum, so
- 2:46Speaker 2: you're not you can't cheer. We don't, of course, but
- 2:50Speaker 2: let people know to be part of it. Yeah, I
- 2:51Speaker 2: gotta be partly. Get it all right, So basically before
- 2:54Speaker 2: the game, like what I like to do. So when
- 2:56Speaker 2: I get it, the field passes. I like to check
- 3:00Speaker 2: out the weather anything. So when you go to a
- 3:03Speaker 2: game or you you check it a couple hours before
- 3:05Speaker 2: the game you get on the field.
- 3:06Speaker 1: I do it at the link, okay, because I do
- 3:09Speaker 1: a pregame piece for change three. Okay, so I'm down
- 3:12Speaker 1: there for maybe twenty minutes.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Now, okay, let's talk about now not a green bay,
- 3:17Speaker 2: but let's talk about it. So the legendary lambeau Field.
- 3:21Speaker 2: What are the conditions like there? What's it like going there?
- 3:24Speaker 1: I tell people, if you're a football fan and you
- 3:28Speaker 1: want to go to one stadium, lambeau Field, is it?
- 3:32Speaker 1: I have never been it. Oh my goodness, I know
- 3:35Speaker 1: it is the best stadium on all football. Now. Our
- 3:38Speaker 1: booth is a good average booth, Okay, decent. Vania's point
- 3:41Speaker 1: up high, a clear view, It's not bad. I give
- 3:45Speaker 1: it a B. But from from a stadium standpoint, I
- 3:49Speaker 1: give it an a plus plus plus plus plus. Think
- 3:52Speaker 1: about it. When you talk about baseball and you talk
- 3:55Speaker 1: about history, you talk about Wrigley Field and Fenwick and
- 4:01Speaker 1: before they did it over, people used to want to
- 4:04Speaker 1: go to the Yankee Stadium to look down and imagine
- 4:07Speaker 1: where Babe Ruth was standing out right field. And Dodger Stadium,
- 4:12Speaker 1: Chavez Ravine. That's that's kind of a historic place today
- 4:17Speaker 1: and it's a beautiful place. My son lives about a
- 4:20Speaker 1: mile and he goes from from Dodger Stadium and he
- 4:23Speaker 1: goes there all the time. You want that in football, Adam,
- 4:27Speaker 1: what do you have that is a relic? When you
- 4:30Speaker 1: will go to lambeau Field and I don't care if
- 4:33Speaker 1: you're young. But even if you love this game and
- 4:36Speaker 1: you're young, you've seen film, or the old film of
- 4:40Speaker 1: Vince Lombardi standing on the sideline and the frost coming
- 4:44Speaker 1: out of his mouth, and then you and then you
- 4:46Speaker 1: hear John Facenda's voice saying the frozen tundra of Green Bay, Wisconsin,
- 4:52Speaker 1: and you think of Paul Horning and Jerry Kramer and
- 4:55Speaker 1: Fuzzy Thursdon and Bart Starstar and Boy Doller and so
- 5:00Speaker 1: on and down there her Batterly, Her, Herb Batterley was
- 5:03Speaker 1: a great friend of mine. Oh, I didn't know that. Oh,
- 5:05Speaker 1: a great friend. As a matter of fact, when Charlie
- 5:10Speaker 1: Swift died and I moved into the seat the play,
- 5:14Speaker 1: I was doing the color that year, seventy seven, and
- 5:17Speaker 1: they said to me, you're doing the play by play
- 5:19Speaker 1: starting next week with the Giants. Go get an analyst,
- 5:23Speaker 1: They told me, wyp Dan Tyler Merle, go get somebody
- 5:25Speaker 1: to work with. I got her Battery and Herb, and
- 5:29Speaker 1: I did the last two games of the seventy seven Sea.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Not know that, And then he was never a candidate
- 5:33Speaker 1: to do it because the following year he became a
- 5:37Speaker 1: member of Wayne Harden's Temple.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Staff, yes, the former temple head coach. And then when
- 5:43Speaker 2: he left, Bruce Arians took over. So so by the way,
- 5:46Speaker 2: everyone were at Chicken Pets and Warrington PA right off
- 5:48Speaker 2: the PA Turnpike and six' eleven we're here till seven eastern.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Uh merl. Here's another one for you. I haven't talked
- 5:55Speaker 2: about this in a while because the Vet's been gone,
- 5:57Speaker 2: But what was it like to call games at the VET?
- 6:00Speaker 2: It was okay, it was It was okay. I have
- 6:03Speaker 2: a story about the VET. Mike and I laugh about
- 6:06Speaker 2: it because one day the.
- 6:08Speaker 1: VT, the VET is no older, was no older than
- 6:13Speaker 1: Arrowhead Stadium, which is beautiful and will maintain. And by
- 6:17Speaker 1: the end the VET was a wreck. I was doing
- 6:20Speaker 1: a game with Mike Quick at the VET, and all
- 6:24Speaker 1: of a sudden I looked over and there was some
- 6:26Speaker 1: kind of green liquid coming out of the ceiling and
- 6:29Speaker 1: hitting him in the head. I mean people down on
- 6:32Speaker 1: the boa in the bows of the stadium who work
- 6:35Speaker 1: down there, they had their own pet rats. I mean
- 6:39Speaker 1: they did. The VET was a mess, It was poorly maintained.
- 6:45Speaker 1: It was fun. And you talk about the fact that
- 6:47Speaker 1: the seven hundred level fans were insane. But here's my
- 6:51Speaker 1: funny story about the vet. George has heard this story.
- 6:54Speaker 1: George Forster, my close friend, is here tonight. He's heard
- 6:57Speaker 1: the story. And I think Matt Matt Miro, who was
- 7:00Speaker 1: the king of WBCB, he's heard this story too. But
- 7:06Speaker 1: for those of you who haven't heard this story, it's
- 7:09Speaker 1: a it's a have you ever heard the story? Talk
- 7:11Speaker 1: to our fans here. I think you'll like this story.
- 7:15Speaker 1: It was the last year of Veteran Stadium, and that's
- 7:19Speaker 1: two thousand and two thousand and two, two thousand and one,
- 7:24Speaker 1: because the link opened in two thousand and two. Right three,
- 7:29Speaker 1: I thought it was three. Okay, So this was two
- 7:32Speaker 1: thousand and The Eagles are playing the Giants on a
- 7:36Speaker 1: Monday night and at halftime, Dave's Badaro, the Eagles insider,
- 7:42Speaker 1: would come in and do an interview. And he's doing
- 7:45Speaker 1: an interview at halftime. Now I would have I sit
- 7:49Speaker 1: and leave in the bootham when I broadcast. I have
- 7:52Speaker 1: water until the fourth quarter. I have a coke, and
- 7:55Speaker 1: I drank constantly to keep my vocal cords lubricated and
- 8:00Speaker 1: so I don't get horse So I'm drinking. So what
- 8:03Speaker 1: happens when you drink for a whole half. At halftime,
- 8:06Speaker 1: you have to stop at the men's room. And the
- 8:09Speaker 1: men's room at the link was all the way down
- 8:13Speaker 1: the hall. But I had a timed so that I
- 8:16Speaker 1: could walk down the men's to the men's room and
- 8:19Speaker 1: then come out of the men's room and walk back
- 8:21Speaker 1: to the booth. And at that point there's a twelve
- 8:24Speaker 1: minute halftime, the players would just start coming out of
- 8:27Speaker 1: the tunnel. So I'm down there at the Giants game
- 8:31Speaker 1: and David is interviewing some guy at halftime. I don't
- 8:35Speaker 1: know who it is. And as I came out of
- 8:37Speaker 1: the men's room, I bumped into Rich Hoffman, who was
- 8:41Speaker 1: a writer for the Philadelphia Daily News, and I said,
- 8:45Speaker 1: he asked me about a call in the first half,
- 8:47Speaker 1: so I gave him the answer, and then I said,
- 8:50Speaker 1: oh my god, the players are coming out on the field.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So I went into a trot. That's as fast as
- 8:56Speaker 1: I go. I went into the trot down to the hall.
- 8:59Speaker 1: I got into the boots. Now there's four steps that
- 9:02Speaker 1: go from the top of the booth to the bottom
- 9:04Speaker 1: of the booth, where I said, and as I hit
- 9:07Speaker 1: the first step, my heel caught on the step and
- 9:11Speaker 1: I started to tumble down the steps, and all of
- 9:14Speaker 1: a sudden, like an angel from heaven, this little blonde
- 9:19Speaker 1: woman reaches out and grabs me to break my fall,
- 9:23Speaker 1: and the two of us go tumbling down the remaining
- 9:25Speaker 1: three steps and we're down there and I'm looking at
- 9:29Speaker 1: her and saying, are you okay? She said yeah, are
- 9:32Speaker 1: you okay? And I said yeah, I'm fine, and then
- 9:35Speaker 1: we started to laugh. So I jump up and I
- 9:38Speaker 1: get into my seat, and it's time for the second
- 9:41Speaker 1: half of the Eagles and the Giants, and then we
- 9:43Speaker 1: get to a commercial break. And I don't say anything
- 9:46Speaker 1: about her, but I just thought about who dave' smadaro
- 9:50Speaker 1: was talking to. And I said to our producer, Joe McPeak,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I said, Joe, who was Dave interviewing at halftime? He
- 9:56Speaker 1: said he was an actor who lives in Wilming to Delaware,
- 10:01Speaker 1: by the name of Ryan Philippine. And and that was
- 10:05Speaker 1: his wife, Reese Withers. That you were rolling around with
- 10:09Speaker 1: so and and that was an amazing, amazing thing. I said, Well,
- 10:15Speaker 1: she had married me, she could have been I don't
- 10:19Speaker 1: even know how to I don't even know how to
- 10:20Speaker 1: respond to that, Meryl, Well, that.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Isn't that is a true story. You never know when
- 10:25Speaker 2: you bring up You asked Maurice a question. What response
- 10:28Speaker 2: you again? What kind of story? You have a million
- 10:30Speaker 2: of them? I want to ask you one other stadium,
- 10:34Speaker 2: one of my favorite stadiums. I like relics l A Colisseum.
- 10:38Speaker 2: I know they called the Maus and Lam. What do
- 10:39Speaker 2: you think the La Colisseum?
- 10:40Speaker 1: Well, it was big the last time we were there
- 10:44Speaker 1: when the Eagles played the Rams. Uh, it was under
- 10:47Speaker 1: construction and we worked from a closet basically that was
- 10:52Speaker 1: surrounded by plywood.
- 10:54Speaker 2: It was a mess. She's because I like being anywhere.
- 10:58Speaker 2: There's nostalgia that that you could talk about night. I
- 11:01Speaker 2: just unfortunately I was there and you were there. Of
- 11:03Speaker 2: course you're calling the game when wentz towards the A
- 11:05Speaker 2: c L. But those locker rooms, Merrow, were like a closet. Yeah,
- 11:09Speaker 2: and you could see why they move into Sofi Stadium.
- 11:11Speaker 2: But so Fi, what what is it? What is that
- 11:12Speaker 2: like to call it? Well, I don't call it so far?
- 11:15Speaker 2: What do you call it so far? Call it so far?
- 11:19Speaker 1: Right? I guess because we are located. It's a beautiful
- 11:23Speaker 1: brand new stadium kind of indoors but not. I mean
- 11:27Speaker 1: the sides are all open. You have an outdoor feeling
- 11:31Speaker 1: with a cover. And here's the problem. They locate the
- 11:35Speaker 1: broadcasters in the back of the end zone and we
- 11:39Speaker 1: can't see. I can't see and we love the nearest
- 11:43Speaker 1: scoreboard is one hundred yards away. They don't care. The
- 11:47Speaker 1: newer the stadium, the worst the seats. Oh that that
- 11:50Speaker 1: that is tough for the broadcasters because they're selling these
- 11:54Speaker 1: as suits.
- 11:55Speaker 2: It's like that in every stadium. That was the voice
- 11:57Speaker 2: of my release. I'm Adam Kaplan. Up next on the
- 11:59Speaker 2: Pro Football we'll go over the current injury situation for
- 12:02Speaker 2: the Eagles, who will host the lines on Sunday Night Football.

- 14:01Speaker 2: brought to you by the attorneys at Begley Carlyn Mandio.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Contact them today for a free consultation at two on
- 14:07Speaker 2: five eight O six three six eight nine. That's two
- 14:10Speaker 2: one five eight oh six three six eight nine. It's
- 14:14Speaker 2: speaking of injuries, Merrill. When when Lane Johnson went down
- 14:18Speaker 2: with that Ancho Andry, I'm like, oh no, And then
- 14:21Speaker 2: like Superman, he came back in the fourth quarter.
- 14:24Speaker 1: You know, Kelsey used to do that all the time.
- 14:26Speaker 1: You say, there's no way he's coming back. Though, when
- 14:28Speaker 1: he came back out of the locker room, whether he
- 14:31Speaker 1: came back into the game or not, I didn't care.
- 14:33Speaker 1: I just it was a good sign that it wasn't
- 14:36Speaker 1: anything serious right enough to send him to a hospital,
- 14:40Speaker 1: or it doesn't seem like anything that's going to keep
- 14:42Speaker 1: him out of games for a while, right, and they
- 14:44Speaker 1: could just limit his practice on because you know they
- 14:47Speaker 1: have an incredible record with Lane Johnson. They were talking
- 14:50Speaker 1: about in the game. Was LILLIANE. Johns crazy? It's crazy?
- 14:53Speaker 2: And remember Meryl, they're playing a lot of six offensive linemen.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Fred Johnson who they reacquired. Who, boy, he's a good
- 14:58Speaker 2: football player. His lanes back up. He saw him play
- 15:02Speaker 2: a bit last night. Now, Cam Jurgens has missed the
- 15:04Speaker 2: last two games with this knee injury, and I'll give
- 15:07Speaker 2: I'll give Brett Toath credit. Before the Giants game, you
- 15:10Speaker 2: kind of wondered, Okay, how could could this guy be?
- 15:13Speaker 2: Then he plays a game of his life against the Giants.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Held his own last night, Brett Toath out of army.
- 15:17Speaker 1: He also held somebody else last night along with his
- 15:20Speaker 1: own and cast him a big game go ahead? Which
- 15:23Speaker 1: one which one we told about? Oh when he when
- 15:25Speaker 1: he pulled somebody down and they gave him about a
- 15:28Speaker 1: fifteen yard play.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Yes, yes, but Brett Toath has been a great story.
- 15:32Speaker 2: He could play in multiple positions. Yes, he's been a
- 15:35Speaker 2: good story. Development. Uh, with the knee injury, we'll see
- 15:38Speaker 2: with Cam Jurgons if he could practice this week then
- 15:41Speaker 2: Jyr Alexander, remember he got acquired last week, so he
- 15:44Speaker 2: he just wasn't ready to play. He told the media
- 15:46Speaker 2: that the knees good. Uh, so we'll see if he's
- 15:49Speaker 2: available this week. Jakorine Bennett, you know, this is the
- 15:52Speaker 2: week he's got a pectorial strain. So they have to
- 15:56Speaker 2: make a decision with it a couple of days whether
- 15:57Speaker 2: he's going to play for them or not this season.
- 15:59Speaker 2: And remember they acquire Corn Bennett from the Raiders and
- 16:02Speaker 2: he had the patrol strain, and we'll see if they
- 16:04Speaker 2: get him ready to go.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Here or not. Yeah, I have no inside of information.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Nick does not discuss injuries. Let's see.
- 16:11Speaker 2: And the Lions, Now you're gonna learn this when you
- 16:13Speaker 2: look into the Lion stuff. They lost Christian Mahogany for
- 16:15Speaker 2: the year, is one of their starting guards defensively. Now
- 16:18Speaker 2: their secondary is just banged up. Dj Read the best
- 16:21Speaker 2: corner he's been on an ir since Week five with
- 16:24Speaker 2: a hamsterring injury. Arry Terry and Arnold their first round
- 16:28Speaker 2: pick last year. He has a concussion. Annis Rey Constrol,
- 16:31Speaker 2: who is the second round pick last year, barely played
- 16:34Speaker 2: last year. Dude injury he won't not come back to
- 16:36Speaker 2: you shoulder surgery. He won't even play the season. And
- 16:38Speaker 2: Kirby Joseph not only is their best safety, one of
- 16:40Speaker 2: the best safeties in the National Football League, he's got
- 16:43Speaker 2: a knee injury. He's missed the past three games. So
- 16:46Speaker 2: they are really banged up in the secondary of those Lions.
- 16:48Speaker 1: Adam, how much of that do you think has to
- 16:50Speaker 1: do with the fact that Dan Campbell plays them from
- 16:54Speaker 1: the first day of the preseason, has total physical training,
- 16:58Speaker 1: camps tackled to the ground, plays all the regulars. In
- 17:01Speaker 1: the preseason game last year when they got knocked out
- 17:04Speaker 1: of the playoffs by Washington, they had sixteen guys on it.
- 17:07Speaker 1: I'm gonna give you a nugget here.
- 17:09Speaker 2: This is hard to believe, but I know some of
- 17:11Speaker 2: the coaches they did at least did it last year.
- 17:14Speaker 2: There are a couple of times I believe they actually
- 17:16Speaker 2: hit and practice during the regular season.
- 17:17Speaker 1: It might have been for five.
- 17:18Speaker 2: Minutes, because you know your limit how many times you
- 17:21Speaker 2: can wear pads.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I think camp I think he has them hit in
- 17:25Speaker 1: the cafeteria.
- 17:28Speaker 2: I mean, that's how tough he is. Yeah, Dan Campbell,
- 17:31Speaker 2: but he's a really good head coach. I mean, think
- 17:33Speaker 2: about how they've turned things around, and they're a really
- 17:35Speaker 2: good football team. Jared got a really good quarterback, Jimmy
- 17:38Speaker 2: O'Neal by the way from Doylestown is their defensive backs coach.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Mike Petton brought him into the National Football League. Dave
- 17:45Speaker 2: fit with her Special Teams coach.
- 17:46Speaker 1: You know, Dave, we used to be here not only
- 17:48Speaker 1: doing no Dave, he's a great coach, and he used
- 17:51Speaker 1: to have me record narration for the Special team's matchups
- 17:57Speaker 1: and they used to play players on are you no?
- 18:01Speaker 1: So he just approached you said, Meryl, would you mind?
- 18:03Speaker 1: He's the funny thing is he came to me and
- 18:06Speaker 1: he said, Chip Kelly told me to ask you if
- 18:10Speaker 1: you would recruit Chip Kelly, who wouldn't talk to me,
- 18:14Speaker 1: no conversation with him. But he goes to Dave pipped
- 18:17Speaker 1: and says, go get Meryl Reese, and Dave did. We
- 18:22Speaker 1: became great friends. And I have a great big picture
- 18:25Speaker 1: in our rec room that has all the Special Teams
- 18:28Speaker 1: players with a sign saying thank you Merrill for your
- 18:32Speaker 1: Special Team's help. And I have a game ball.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Over the years, and I know you brought this up
- 18:38Speaker 2: because this is this is certainly you're just this is
- 18:40Speaker 2: news to me. Have coaches ever come to you and say, hey,
- 18:43Speaker 2: could you speak to our players? Could you anything? If
- 18:46Speaker 2: they ever come to you.
- 18:46Speaker 1: To ask you to help them? Well, it's interesting that
- 18:50Speaker 1: you say that, because Dave. What happened was Doug Peterson
- 18:56Speaker 1: would get the all ninety guys together the first night
- 19:00Speaker 1: when they came to training camp, and he would bring
- 19:02Speaker 1: me into the auditorium and have me give a motivational speech.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Now okay, Now would you was this okay? See you
- 19:09Speaker 1: would have when you have it written out? Or how
- 19:12Speaker 1: would you do it? Well? I would plan it, plan okay,
- 19:14Speaker 1: plan cards, No card, I just pretend that I was
- 19:17Speaker 1: Dick for meal. Yes, that's what I was doing. I
- 19:19Speaker 1: would pretend that was Dick for meal. Wow. Minus the
- 19:22Speaker 1: tears of course. And then the other thing that happened
- 19:24Speaker 1: last summer, right before I went to Campton, Ohio for
- 19:28Speaker 1: the Pro Football Hall of Fame. UH that Friday a
- 19:30Speaker 1: training camp, Brian Papson, who's the Eagles marketing vice president,
- 19:35Speaker 1: said would you come with me to the middle of
- 19:37Speaker 1: the field, And I thought he wanted me to say
- 19:39Speaker 1: hello to the alumni and It was the end of
- 19:41Speaker 1: practice and Nick Sirianne was breaking down the team and
- 19:45Speaker 1: giving them final instructions, and all of a sudden, Nick
- 19:49Speaker 1: looks over and says, Meryl, get in here. So I
- 19:52Speaker 1: go into the middle of the ninety men in a
- 19:56Speaker 1: circle at the center of the field, and he says
- 19:59Speaker 1: to the team, guys, Meryl Reese is going into the
- 20:02Speaker 1: Hall of Fame this week. He's the longest serving broadcaster
- 20:06Speaker 1: in the NFL. And then he turns to me and
- 20:08Speaker 1: he said, Meryl, break down the team. Oh my god,
- 20:11Speaker 1: in the middle, and I have the power, I have
- 20:13Speaker 1: the picture. It's amazing, and I don't know what is
- 20:16Speaker 1: here I am. And I just said, all right, guys, listen,
- 20:21Speaker 1: when you play this game and when you come to practice,
- 20:24Speaker 1: you either get better or you get worse. You never
- 20:27Speaker 1: stay the same. You've got to come here every day
- 20:30Speaker 1: and get better. And you know what, if you keep
- 20:33Speaker 1: getting better, you'll win the Super Bowl this year. This
- 20:36Speaker 1: is a super Bowl team. And I said, and I
- 20:40Speaker 1: said a few more things, and I said, and I
- 20:43Speaker 1: finally said, all right, one two three, go birds? Ready,
- 20:47Speaker 1: one two three? And they always yelled they go birds.
- 20:50Speaker 1: And then Jalen hurts, yells, Meryl, do it again, and
- 20:55Speaker 1: I go one, two, three, go birds, and they all yell,
- 20:59Speaker 1: go birds. And that was one of the great treats
- 21:02Speaker 1: that I have ever had. And the pictures and they
- 21:05Speaker 1: took somebody took a picture and my kids had blown
- 21:09Speaker 1: up and it's on our wall of me in the
- 21:11Speaker 1: middle of the whole thing, standing next to Jalen hurts
- 21:14Speaker 1: with my arm up in the air. I know this
- 21:16Speaker 1: is thrill. This is unbelievable.
- 21:18Speaker 2: I know this is an injury review brought to you
- 21:19Speaker 2: by the attorneys at Begley, Carlin and Mandio, but we
- 21:22Speaker 2: should have this, Meryl Stories sponsored by Begley, carl and Manny.
- 21:27Speaker 2: This is and obviously your recall, because you've done so
- 21:30Speaker 2: much in your career. I'm gonna ask you one more thing.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Go ahead, because I know where I was. This is
- 21:34Speaker 2: how now, as folks who are a little bit older,
- 21:37Speaker 2: our memories kind of like you could, our long term
- 21:40Speaker 2: memories are great as we get old, about a short
- 21:42Speaker 2: term not as good.
- 21:43Speaker 1: I know where I was.
- 21:44Speaker 2: I was ten, ten or eleven years old when Dick
- 21:47Speaker 2: for Meal became the head coach leaving UCLA, which I
- 21:50Speaker 2: knew enough to think that that's crazy that the college
- 21:52Speaker 2: head coach would leave to go to the pros. Give
- 21:54Speaker 2: us your quick story, your first rememborance of Dick for
- 21:57Speaker 2: Meal when he came to Philly.
- 21:59Speaker 1: Oh I. I was a big Dick for Meal fan.
- 22:02Speaker 1: You know, I watched when u ce l A be
- 22:04Speaker 1: Ohio State and the Rose Ball. Yes, and I knew
- 22:08Speaker 1: when they went out there that Leonard Tost and Jim
- 22:11Speaker 1: Murray went out there and they hired Dick for Meal.
- 22:13Speaker 1: And I'll never forget Cindy, my wife, saying when when
- 22:16Speaker 1: they hired Dick for Meal, you know, he looks like
- 22:20Speaker 1: Robert Rickford, and she was really excited because he did.
- 22:23Speaker 1: He looked at the time, he looked like a young
- 22:25Speaker 1: Robert Richs. But Dick for Meal, to this day, Dick
- 22:29Speaker 1: for Meal is still my favorite coach of all time.
- 22:32Speaker 1: I mean he's great. You look in the Dictionary under
- 22:35Speaker 1: the word charisma, there's a picture of Dick for Meal. Nobody,
- 22:39Speaker 1: nobody had that motivational ability more than Dick for Meal,
- 22:43Speaker 1: the absolute positive best. Then there have been some very
- 22:47Speaker 1: very good coaches over the years, but Dick for Meal
- 22:50Speaker 1: had that certain something, that magnetism, that inspirational quality that
- 22:57Speaker 1: nobody else has. That's certain. And I'm still friendly with him.
- 23:01Speaker 1: You still talk all the time, But think about it.
- 23:03Speaker 1: Philly turns them around.
- 23:04Speaker 2: This was terrible, He goes, we're awful when he got here,
- 23:07Speaker 2: did a phenomenal job turning things around. Comes out of
- 23:10Speaker 2: retirement fourteenish years. Okay, wins a Super Bowl with the Rams.
- 23:14Speaker 1: How does that happen? Meryl, believing, well, he was. He
- 23:17Speaker 1: was that great. I did a roast for Dick for
- 23:20Speaker 1: Meal years oh, and I got up and I said,
- 23:23Speaker 1: I'll I say, I will never forget the things that
- 23:26Speaker 1: Dick for Meal told me and taught me. And I
- 23:29Speaker 1: never forget the things, so I said, I said this.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I said it was Dick for Meal who said you
- 23:34Speaker 1: win with character people. And everyone applauded. And I said
- 23:39Speaker 1: it was Dick for Meal who said, to be in
- 23:41Speaker 1: a successful head coach, you have to hire assistant coaches
- 23:45Speaker 1: good enough to take your job. I love that line.
- 23:48Speaker 1: It was Dick for Meal who said to me, asking
- 23:51Speaker 1: about Wilburt Montgomery, I wasn't responsible. His mother and father
- 23:55Speaker 1: were responsible for making Wilbur Montgomery. And then I said
- 23:59Speaker 1: it was Dick for Meal who said, ask not what
- 24:03Speaker 1: American could do for you, but what you could do
- 24:05Speaker 1: for America. And it was Dick for Meal who said,
- 24:08Speaker 1: I've got a dream and I started naming all these
- 24:12Speaker 1: famous lines of speeches and Dick was sitting there crying, Oh, well,
- 24:16Speaker 1: that's amazing. Bow.
- 24:18Speaker 2: So the injuries that were tracking or Lane Johnson's ankle,
- 24:21Speaker 2: he used their right tackle somehow he came back in
- 24:23Speaker 2: the fourth quarter and the board that really helped Cam
- 24:25Speaker 2: Jergens and his knee injury.
- 24:26Speaker 1: This Linger knee injury. Remember he had back surgery in
- 24:28Speaker 1: the off season. I'm worried about that it does work,
- 24:31Speaker 1: I'm not optimistic about that right now.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, and we know that breck Toath feels inform.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Jay r Alexander just got acquired last week. I want
- 24:39Speaker 2: to see what happens in Ja CORYN Bennett with him
- 24:41Speaker 2: pectoral strand. This is the week they have to make
- 24:43Speaker 2: a decision where he plays. And then for the Lions,
- 24:45Speaker 2: DJ Reid probably not playing this week. He's been out
- 24:47Speaker 2: since Week five. The Big Ones Terry Ann Arnold their
- 24:50Speaker 2: number two corner with a concussion, and Kirby Joseph probably
- 24:53Speaker 2: top three safety. He's got a knee injury. He's missed
- 24:56Speaker 2: the past three games. So that is our injury review,
- 24:59Speaker 2: brought to you by the attorneys at Begley, Carlin and Mandio.

- 26:30Speaker 1: They have a practice Thursday and Friday.
- 26:33Speaker 2: You've been with the Eagles for so so long, and
- 26:36Speaker 2: you're you're like me. When we were allowed when Andy
- 26:39Speaker 2: Reid before he kicked us out, when we were allowed
- 26:40Speaker 2: to watch practice, I would go I was one of
- 26:43Speaker 2: the few peop I love watching practice. What do you
- 26:45Speaker 2: get out of practice? Let the listeners know? Well, nothing,
- 26:48Speaker 2: even when you could get the whole practice. Not now,
- 26:51Speaker 2: but when when you're allowed to watch all.
- 26:53Speaker 1: When I watch practice, I can see who's healthy who's not.
- 26:57Speaker 1: I can see the game plan, I can see what
- 27:00Speaker 1: they put into it. But we I haven't been in
- 27:03Speaker 1: a practice since then, I go see the first ten
- 27:05Speaker 1: minutes of warm ups and stretching, they blow the horn
- 27:09Speaker 1: and we're gone. Yep yctice right.
- 27:12Speaker 2: The Lines are coming off a blowout road win against
- 27:16Speaker 2: the injured and battered Commanders who got off to that
- 27:18Speaker 2: great start. Merrow, but my goodness, gracious, the Commander season's
- 27:22Speaker 2: pretty much done everybody.
- 27:24Speaker 1: But you know what I gotta tell you, Doug Peterson
- 27:27Speaker 1: and I were good friends. I knew Doug when he
- 27:29Speaker 1: was a player, when Andy brought him in to get
- 27:31Speaker 1: beaten up until Donovan McNabb was ready, and then when
- 27:35Speaker 1: he came back we were We resumed their friendship and
- 27:38Speaker 1: Doug used to get together with me every week. I
- 27:42Speaker 1: go in and sit down with Doug and he would
- 27:44Speaker 1: go over the playbook with me and he would actually
- 27:47Speaker 1: tell me what wrinkles they had, what gadget plays that
- 27:51Speaker 1: they would have, approximately when they would occur, how to
- 27:55Speaker 1: anticipate them, and I would figure out how to describe them.
- 27:59Speaker 1: So that's kind of relationship with Doug Peterson. Okay, please
- 28:03Speaker 1: don't tell me totally. Philly Special was coming no, and
- 28:06Speaker 1: you know why because it was the week of the
- 28:09Speaker 1: super Bowl.
- 28:09Speaker 2: That was the one week I never got But when
- 28:13Speaker 2: when they ran it were you were like, what in
- 28:16Speaker 2: the world did.
- 28:16Speaker 1: I just see? Well, you know what I said, go ahead,
- 28:19Speaker 1: pre see Philly special. They've got to kick the field goal.
- 28:24Speaker 1: They've got to get the three points because there's too
- 28:27Speaker 1: much risk if they failed, the momentum goes the other
- 28:30Speaker 1: way and they'll be kicking off to New England to
- 28:33Speaker 1: start the second half. So then they ran it, and
- 28:37Speaker 1: of course they saw all the stuff with you know,
- 28:39Speaker 1: the pass into the end zones and to Nick Foles
- 28:42Speaker 1: and Mike Quick said, Meryl, that's why Doug's down there
- 28:46Speaker 1: in Europe.
- 28:47Speaker 2: Here it's funny how things work out. So merrow the
- 28:50Speaker 2: lines come into Philly.
- 28:51Speaker 1: By the way.
- 28:52Speaker 2: It's the weather's where, you know, it's really cold and
- 28:54Speaker 2: windy on Sunday. The early forecast is for the low sixties,
- 28:57Speaker 2: may or may not rain. The less I've heard conflict
- 29:01Speaker 2: I took. The people were at the game. Sometimes the
- 29:03Speaker 2: win was bad. Sometimes it's fun. What was it win
- 29:05Speaker 2: like for you to to sit?
- 29:06Speaker 1: What was it bad? It was cold? It was cold,
- 29:08Speaker 1: very really cold. I mean, there wasn't there wasn't a
- 29:12Speaker 1: hurricane app there wasn't a gale force wins right, but
- 29:16Speaker 1: it was certainly breezy. I mean, I mean the first
- 29:19Speaker 1: you know what, I never even saw him kick the
- 29:21Speaker 1: first field goal at the end because they had cold
- 29:25Speaker 1: time out. Oh yeah, yeah, it was time. So my
- 29:28Speaker 1: eyes followed the packers over to the bench to mattle
- 29:31Speaker 1: lafleura and then he kicked it when it didn't matter,
- 29:35Speaker 1: and it still felt how bad? Ten yards short? Yep,
- 29:38Speaker 1: that was short, but I knew that was. It was
- 29:40Speaker 1: way too cold to make a sixty four yard field goal,
- 29:44Speaker 1: no doubt.
- 29:44Speaker 2: And but mc McManus out of Temple, by the way,
- 29:47Speaker 2: he was great with Denver Wall because he kicked in
- 29:49Speaker 2: the mile higher is sure?
- 29:51Speaker 1: All right?
- 29:51Speaker 2: So this is the Penworth's financial keys to the game, earl,
- 29:54Speaker 2: and and the first thing on my list is and
- 29:57Speaker 2: Devantie Smith has been phenomenal.
- 29:59Speaker 1: They have to find a way.
- 30:00Speaker 2: I know they don't throw a lot, but to get
- 30:01Speaker 2: aj Brown the ball, he has to get the ball.
- 30:04Speaker 2: He got it early and then you know, I know,
- 30:06Speaker 2: the passing game wasn't great, but you gotta get him
- 30:08Speaker 2: involved and get him get him going a little bit.
- 30:10Speaker 1: I'll give you my number one, all right. My number
- 30:12Speaker 1: one is make first down count because yesterday. Last night
- 30:17Speaker 1: they had ten instances were on third down. They were
- 30:21Speaker 1: third and seven or more. They've got to put them
- 30:24Speaker 1: through ourselves in what we call third and manageable. That's
- 30:28Speaker 1: my number one.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Yeah, And I gotta ask you about the Davante Smith
- 30:32Speaker 2: when you see his build, I mean, remember we remember
- 30:34Speaker 2: Deshaun Jackson, how skinn he was as a younger player.
- 30:37Speaker 2: I cannot believe the things that he does with that
- 30:40Speaker 2: size to make this physical catches.
- 30:42Speaker 1: What's it like to call game with couple? Well, he's amazing.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I get upset when I hear people one of the
- 30:49Speaker 1: writers refers to AJ Brown as the greatest receiver in
- 30:53Speaker 1: Eagles history. Now, number one, you have to go. I don't.
- 30:57Speaker 1: I don't compare the old receivers with the new receivers
- 31:01Speaker 1: because it was a different game then. But I will
- 31:04Speaker 1: say this, I don't believe AJ Brown is better than
- 31:07Speaker 1: Devonte Smith. I think they are equal. I think they're
- 31:11Speaker 1: both great, except that AJ Brown is tremendously strong and
- 31:17Speaker 1: can back away and overpower somebody for the ball and
- 31:20Speaker 1: it's tough to bring down. And I think Devonte Smith
- 31:24Speaker 1: is an acrobat. He could go high. He's got amazing
- 31:28Speaker 1: hands and he can tap his toes inside the sideline.
- 31:32Speaker 1: So I just think they are they are one in
- 31:35Speaker 1: one A but they're both great receivers. So now when
- 31:38Speaker 1: we look at the Eagles defenseers, Merrow was phenomenal last day.
- 31:42Speaker 2: How about we have to bring him up. Jalen Phillips,
- 31:45Speaker 2: you called his first game. What do you think of
- 31:46Speaker 2: his performance?
- 31:48Speaker 1: I think Adam and I did a commentary for Thursday
- 31:52Speaker 1: about this. I think it was the best debut of
- 31:56Speaker 1: an Eagle ever. Wow, that's saying a lot wow think
- 31:59Speaker 1: about it. Maybe I could have said best defensive debut ever.
- 32:04Speaker 1: But I remember, I think the first time that Terrell Owens,
- 32:09Speaker 1: who he ended up disliking him mentally. But but but
- 32:14Speaker 1: too when he first came out. I think early in
- 32:16Speaker 1: his first game, Donovan McNabb hit him with an a
- 32:19Speaker 1: yard bomb and that that was a great way to
- 32:21Speaker 1: start your career. Of course he crashed landed, but the
- 32:26Speaker 1: but can you think of a defensive player who came
- 32:29Speaker 1: to this team and had a better first game? Offhand?
- 32:32Speaker 2: No, he was, and you see the way he's built,
- 32:35Speaker 2: he's chiseled. Or this guy is a first round pick
- 32:37Speaker 2: in Meryl. The thing is first two years, never had
- 32:39Speaker 2: an injury, then had the back to back achilles tear
- 32:42Speaker 2: and a cl injury.
- 32:43Speaker 1: But he looked great. He's healthy.
- 32:45Speaker 2: The only game up a third round pick, and I
- 32:47Speaker 2: know that he's he's on the fanal vers rookie deal.
- 32:50Speaker 2: You know how Howardsman works. He's the best gam in
- 32:52Speaker 2: the National Football League. If he's healthy, he plays well,
- 32:54Speaker 2: he's coming back. One way, they're going to keep him.
- 32:56Speaker 2: And now you look at the death. BG is back now,
- 32:59Speaker 2: Nolan Smith, Merer all of a sudden, their death which
- 33:01Speaker 2: you question, is they got six guys? Yeah they do,
- 33:04Speaker 2: I mean, and now they're going to You know that
- 33:06Speaker 2: the Lions offensive line is phenomenal.
- 33:08Speaker 1: This is gonna be a great matchup on Sunday night. Adam,
- 33:11Speaker 1: can you tell me how two years ago the Kobe
- 33:14Speaker 1: Dean lasted into the third rounds.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Okay, smaller linebacker, barely six feet. He never missed a
- 33:21Speaker 2: game at Georgia. But there were about injury.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Yes, it's true, Actually it was. It was his build.
- 33:28Speaker 2: He had a pectoral strain at his pro day and
- 33:31Speaker 2: he had a bad Pro day workout. And I remember
- 33:33Speaker 2: when how he said it. He couldn't understand why dropped
- 33:35Speaker 2: the third round. But let let's think about this, right,
- 33:38Speaker 2: here's this but Teller ten and you're thinking, well, they'll
- 33:40Speaker 2: never be a factor of this season. He looks incredible, Merrit,
- 33:44Speaker 2: It's unbelievab how good he looks.
- 33:45Speaker 1: He's great. Yeah, he's a great player, he's super smart.
- 33:49Speaker 1: And then one, yeah, there's no better linebacker in the
- 33:52Speaker 1: NFL than All Pro last year who never played true
- 33:55Speaker 1: linebacker in his life? You know, you know who really
- 33:59Speaker 1: didn't show up last night? Okay, think about it. How
- 34:03Speaker 1: often did I say Michael Parsons? He was just another guy?
- 34:08Speaker 1: I I remember once he was chasing, chasing Jalen Hurts,
- 34:14Speaker 1: but I don't remember him really making a big play.
- 34:18Speaker 2: And Merrill, remember Jalen Hurts that I could sack last night, No,
- 34:22Speaker 2: which which is definitely key. Now all now remember now
- 34:25Speaker 2: the Lions offensive line is phenomenal. This is going to
- 34:27Speaker 2: be a great match up. Vic Fangio to me, is
- 34:31Speaker 2: a Hall of Famer. I mean, this guy is a
- 34:33Speaker 2: Look what he did last year. He is incredible.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Adam, maybe maybe you know the answers to this, Are
- 34:41Speaker 1: there any coordinators or assistants who have not been head
- 34:44Speaker 1: coaches or were not successful head coaches, just as coordinators
- 34:49Speaker 1: who are in the Hall of Fame.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Okay, so coordinators who were not successful NFL coach Gott
- 34:56Speaker 2: who were who made their names as coordinators?
- 34:59Speaker 1: Bud Carson, But Carson's not in the Hall of Fame.
- 35:01Speaker 1: He's as great as defensive coordinators. Did a great job
- 35:04Speaker 1: with obviously Steelers is what everyone knows. But we did
- 35:07Speaker 1: a great job here here the number one against the run,
- 35:10Speaker 1: number one against the pass, number one overall in ninety one. Right,
- 35:13Speaker 1: wasn't he great? He was phenomenal.
- 35:16Speaker 2: North Turner won't get in the Hall of Fame, and
- 35:17Speaker 2: I know he's not a good head coach, but Norv
- 35:20Speaker 2: was the man for a lot for the Cowboys. Okay,
- 35:24Speaker 2: two time Super Bowl winners and office Cordneraer. He just
- 35:26Speaker 2: was not a good head coach. Now, no offense, Norv
- 35:30Speaker 2: is great. But what Vic Fandrew did last year slackball
- 35:33Speaker 2: never played linebacker. You look at everything that he did.
- 35:35Speaker 1: Yeah, he is so smart.
- 35:39Speaker 2: And remember in his twenties he worked for the Philadelphia Stars.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Bro I got it start. You can make a case
- 35:44Speaker 1: at him for Jim Johnson.
- 35:46Speaker 2: The late great Jim Johnson, probably my favorite assistant coach.
- 35:51Speaker 2: This is when I was down there at Novercare all
- 35:53Speaker 2: the time, and one liners, I love what you talk.
- 35:58Speaker 2: I know, you go to press conferences, so you would
- 36:00Speaker 2: ask him a question and sometimes you were you know,
- 36:04Speaker 2: you would think he wouldn't answer it. He would answer it.
- 36:07Speaker 2: He go oh, I should have said that. I used
- 36:09Speaker 2: to love that about him. He great sense of your
- 36:10Speaker 2: and a great coach.
- 36:11Speaker 1: I'll tell you another guy who should be in the
- 36:14Speaker 1: Hall of Fame as a defensive coordinator, and that is
- 36:19Speaker 1: Buddy Ryan. Yes, not a good head coach, Yes he was. Oh,
- 36:24Speaker 1: come on, come come on. He was a good head coach.
- 36:27Speaker 1: They never want a playoff game, I know, but he
- 36:29Speaker 1: was still a good head coach. He turned that team
- 36:32Speaker 1: around here. It's funny he had.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Those guys if he knew personnel.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Tom Gamble told me that Buddy Ryan were to wake
- 36:38Speaker 1: up at two thirty am in the hotel and the
- 36:41Speaker 1: night before game and put on one slipper and hop
- 36:44Speaker 1: on one leg out of the building, fifty three guys
- 36:47Speaker 1: would have suddenly awakened and followed him out of that building.
- 36:50Speaker 1: All right, he was not. He was not a championship
- 36:53Speaker 1: winning head coach. Although he got fired after making the
- 36:56Speaker 1: playoffs three straight years. And as he said, he called
- 36:59Speaker 1: his own in press conference the day after we got fired,
- 37:03Speaker 1: and we all walked into the room and he said, Will,
- 37:06Speaker 1: it's the first time anybody ever got fired for winning.
- 37:09Speaker 1: And then he brought a race horse and he named
- 37:12Speaker 1: it fired for winning. Are you really really? And he
- 37:16Speaker 1: only referred to Roman Brayman as the guy in France, France,
- 37:20Speaker 1: because Norman had one in South France. Yeah, I hit it.
- 37:22Speaker 1: He should have been signing players, yes, exactly when Regie.
- 37:25Speaker 1: But Buddy was a great, a great coach. But all right,
- 37:28Speaker 1: I'm not saying he was a Hall of fame head coach,
- 37:30Speaker 1: but he was a hall of fame defense.
- 37:32Speaker 2: Because you're you're you're right at that part, You're absolutely right.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Remember he was the he was the brains on their
- 37:37Speaker 2: defense for the Jets when uh, when they won the
- 37:42Speaker 2: Super Bowl sixty nine. Of course, uh, Broadway Joe had
- 37:45Speaker 2: something to do with it. But getting back to this game,
- 37:48Speaker 2: so so the keys of game from Penworth Financial that.
- 37:52Speaker 1: The other thing is Detroit.
- 37:53Speaker 2: As we mentioned earlier when we did the injury review,
- 37:55Speaker 2: they've got a lot of injuries. I know the Eagles
- 37:57Speaker 2: don't throw the ball out. But this goes back to
- 38:00Speaker 2: my first point. You had yours and I have mine
- 38:02Speaker 2: in terms of what the keys of the game would be.
- 38:03Speaker 2: I still want to see a J.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Brown.
- 38:05Speaker 2: You talked about his physicality. It is really hard when
- 38:08Speaker 2: you get him going forward to stop him because you've
- 38:10Speaker 2: seen his arms, sirt. They're massive for guy.
- 38:13Speaker 1: He's a big man for guys technically under six', one
- 38:16Speaker 1: believe it or.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Not, yeah he's you just taught he's. Huge, Yeah So
- 38:20Speaker 2: i'd like to see them get him the ball. More
- 38:22Speaker 2: and this is a defense if you could, protect because
- 38:25Speaker 2: you got to go Against Aiden, hutchinson who's. Terrific he
- 38:28Speaker 2: is a great. Player he is A humber ninety. Seven,
- 38:31Speaker 2: yeah you'll you'll be calling him On sunday. Night BUT
- 38:33Speaker 2: i like to see them go after. Him and and
- 38:35Speaker 2: and WHAT i like is The eagles offensive line for
- 38:38Speaker 2: all the, injuries AND i know they're not run blocking,
- 38:40Speaker 2: well their past protection has been. Great this season it's
- 38:43Speaker 2: been pretty, good which you know the run Thing merrill
- 38:46Speaker 2: is although.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Spified, Man i'm not to interrupt, you, guy, PLEASE i
- 38:50Speaker 1: didn't think it was all like great last. NIGHT i
- 38:52Speaker 1: thought That Jalen hurts was under. Durest every time he dropped.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Back he didn't stand there in the pocket and look
- 38:58Speaker 1: or get have time to really he was running for
- 39:01Speaker 1: his life or throwing off his back foot as he
- 39:03Speaker 1: was going. Back he was really.
- 39:05Speaker 2: RUSHED i would say That Michael parsons HATS i know
- 39:09Speaker 2: you talked About Michael parsons. Earlier they did a decent
- 39:12Speaker 2: job of not letting him wreck the, game but they
- 39:16Speaker 2: just the. Past game's got to get. Going they'll be
- 39:18Speaker 2: at home On sunday. Night Sunday night football is interesting
- 39:22Speaker 2: BECAUSE i think it was around in the eighties If
- 39:25Speaker 2: i'm not, mistaken maybe late eighties it. Was, yeah it
- 39:27Speaker 2: was actually ON t AND t back, then if, yes
- 39:30Speaker 2: IF i recall. Correctly, now of course it's ON, nbc
- 39:32Speaker 2: so the lines will be Into. Philly and by the,
- 39:34Speaker 2: way that they had a great game And Mike patrick
- 39:37Speaker 2: late yep And paul maguire the kicker for The. Bills, yes,
- 39:44Speaker 2: Yes and by the, way The eagles now have the
- 39:47Speaker 2: number one seed technically Over, seattle who's had a great.
- 39:50Speaker 2: Season detroit's right on their heels at six to. Three
- 39:53Speaker 2: this is a big time conference game And Nick sierry
- 39:56Speaker 2: AND i want to talk about him right before we
- 39:58Speaker 2: get to the break. Here what makes him so? Good
- 40:01Speaker 2: you've been around him a. Lot what makes him so Great.
- 40:03Speaker 1: His attention to, detail his organizational, skills the respect with
- 40:09Speaker 1: which he's held by every, player and his motivational. Ability
- 40:14Speaker 1: it's good.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Stuff when you describe a probably one of the top
- 40:18Speaker 2: three head, coaches A Super bowl, winner one of the
- 40:20Speaker 2: best road, records by the way IN nfl history for
- 40:22Speaker 2: a head coach in the first five, years it's just.
- 40:25Speaker 2: Remarkable and he's got a great gam who gets in the,
- 40:27Speaker 2: players and they've got a pretty good partnership going here
- 40:29Speaker 2: With Howard.
- 40:30Speaker 1: Roseman he passed tick For meil yesterday and. Wins so
- 40:35Speaker 1: he's third Behind andy And Gracie, neil.
- 40:37Speaker 2: And he's going to be around here a long. Time
- 40:39Speaker 2: and so the keys to the game here getting Aj brown,
- 40:43Speaker 2: going of, course getting that run game, going Protecting Jalen
- 40:47Speaker 2: hurts because The lions, have of course that, front and

- 49:43Speaker 1: with the sun, shining and the temperature sixty. Degrees there's
- 49:48Speaker 1: sixty five degrees and perfect. Field that Lambeau field is.
- 49:52Speaker 1: Magnificent the manicure of. That you. Know it's the kind

- 50:12Speaker 1: Start do you remember what this? Show? Yes, uh it.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Started it started many many years ago When Harry gamble
- 50:20Speaker 1: was the. Owner it was the president of The Philadelphia,
- 50:23Speaker 1: eagles And Leonard, toast who was the owner of The,
- 50:26Speaker 1: eagles owned the piece of the. Station oh did at one.
- 50:31Speaker 1: Pole toast owned the piece of the, station and they
- 50:34Speaker 1: and he and another guy got Got harry to come
- 50:38Speaker 1: and do the show every. Week so for a while
- 50:40Speaker 1: it was The Harry Gamble. Shows THEN i became an
- 50:42Speaker 1: investment with the station AND i did it With harry
- 50:45Speaker 1: for many. Years and Then, harry uh sadly passed. Away
- 50:49Speaker 1: he was a wonderful. Man and then we changed the.
- 50:52Speaker 1: Name we were calling it The Eagles, report and then
- 50:54Speaker 1: Once harry, left The eagles sent a cease and to
- 50:57Speaker 1: says because they owned the, name and we we changed
- 51:00Speaker 1: it To Pro Football. Report but that's nothing. WRONG i,
- 51:02Speaker 1: mean that's just how businesses. Work You you do realize
- 51:07Speaker 1: that W ip that pays all this money for The
- 51:11Speaker 1: eagles games to be the rights, holder cannot use the
- 51:14Speaker 1: words Super bowl and a. Commercial they cannot use copy
- 51:18Speaker 1: because it's copyright. Name you can't you listen to the
- 51:21Speaker 1: commercials they talk, about so if you're getting ready to
- 51:25Speaker 1: watch the big, game that's what they. Use so it's
- 51:29Speaker 1: funny you say.
- 51:30Speaker 2: It so for our Show inside The, birds when we
- 51:31Speaker 2: talk Super, bowl when we do an, ad we just
- 51:34Speaker 2: talk about The Pro Football championship wherever it's being.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Played we never mentioned the Super. Bowl it's some. Funny
- 51:38Speaker 1: we thought this Is inside The. Birds, yes you, Know
- 51:41Speaker 1: bush is probably cooperated. Too, uh you're gonna have to
- 51:45Speaker 1: change that To inside The, Parakeet inside The. Pigeons it's.

- 51:59Speaker 2: Hour, yeah, Yeah because the thing IS i literally could
- 52:03Speaker 2: do three hours of the show because The eagles are so.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Good even though you know people complain about the. Offense
- 52:09Speaker 2: we want to see more. Offense there's still seven and.

- 52:16Speaker 2: know you were you as. OPTIMIST i was not at
- 52:18Speaker 2: that optimistic on the team because they lost so many.
- 52:20Speaker 2: Players but yet with all these, trades how he's made
- 52:23Speaker 2: this team looks like they're prepared to just about, it
- 52:25Speaker 2: like anyone to make another.
- 52:26Speaker 1: Ruin, well their offensive line is not as good as
- 52:28Speaker 1: last year's offensive line because of the. INJURIES i will
- 52:31Speaker 1: tell you the truth that WHEN i Was i'm not a, predictor,
- 52:34Speaker 1: sure but when friends would ask me Or i'd give
- 52:36Speaker 1: us speech and they, say give us a, RECORD i
- 52:40Speaker 1: picked this team to be eleven and six but still
- 52:43Speaker 1: win THE Nfc.
- 52:43Speaker 2: East, YEAH i gave him a win. RANGE i do
- 52:46Speaker 2: this for every team eleven or twelve. Wins but because
- 52:49Speaker 2: there was so much. Mystery you mentioned the offensive, line, Right,
- 52:51Speaker 2: okay there's no Way barkley would have done what he
- 52:53Speaker 2: did last. Year you can't repeat. That, well, now we
- 52:56Speaker 2: didn't know that the run blocking would be a little bit.
- 52:57Speaker 2: Shaky but the thing to me is losing five defensive.
- 53:00Speaker 2: PLAYERS i just can't. Believe and what they did last
- 53:04Speaker 2: night was. Phenomenal Meryl, Yep i'm just. Shocked But quinnon
