- 0:00Speaker 1: Enough news, enough politics. Let's take a moment to look
- 0:03Speaker 1: at the animal world, which is rapey and horrifying.
- 0:06Speaker 2: That's one more thing, one more.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Before we get to that. A little animal rape on
- 0:15Speaker 3: your Wednesday.
- 0:17Speaker 2: This is what I yelled at Katie about the other
- 0:19Speaker 2: day when I.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Said it swear, I said, yes, say lady or whatever
- 0:23Speaker 1: I said.
- 0:23Speaker 2: This is it. Stay tuned.
- 0:25Speaker 3: So you have a new feature you've been mentioning, Katie.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Where where do people find Katie's corner?
- 0:30Speaker 4: Got Armstrong, getty dot com.
- 0:32Speaker 2: It's across the top?
- 0:32Speaker 3: Okay? And you decided to spell it with a K.
- 0:36Speaker 4: I did because you both had conniption fits because I
- 0:40Speaker 4: spelled it like a regular person.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Feel that may make a big deal. And how do
- 0:44Speaker 3: you spell your name? Katie is with a wire and
- 0:46Speaker 3: I E an I E Okay? Do you put a
- 0:47Speaker 3: heart above the eye?
- 0:49Speaker 2: No, Jack, I did.
- 0:50Speaker 3: When I was like twelve.
- 0:53Speaker 2: It's I'm cute Katie's corner, grown ass woman you're talking to.
- 0:56Speaker 3: He's corner with a heart over the eye and a
- 0:58Speaker 3: K for a corner sounds pretty good to me. On
- 1:01Speaker 3: ets to sell your Doiley's you make it all work.
- 1:04Speaker 4: I will say there is a restaurant in San Ramon
- 1:07Speaker 4: in the Bay Area in California that's called Katie's Corner,
- 1:09Speaker 4: and they have the best eggs, Benedict, I'll write that down. Yeah,
- 1:14Speaker 4: and it spelled Katie's with a Y, corner with a K.
- 1:17Speaker 3: I take breakfast places more seriously than any other kind
- 1:21Speaker 3: of restaurant. Love a good breakfast place.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Oh, it's hard to mess up breakfast, I feel damn.
- 1:27Speaker 3: But man, the good, the great from the good ol. Yeah.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like they say about pizza and sex. I
- 1:32Speaker 1: mean it's gonna be fine from the male.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Point of view.
- 1:37Speaker 3: If you had sex and you burnt the roof of
- 1:39Speaker 3: your mouth, that's no good.
- 1:41Speaker 2: What are you doing but breakfast?
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yes, to achieve a solid B is practically effort true.
- 1:48Speaker 1: But to get up to the AA plus ranking, then
- 1:51Speaker 1: you're talking some really good food, I mean crazy good.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I mean you get you spend twenty dollars on your breakfast,
- 2:01Speaker 1: You have had deliciousness on par with a seventy dollars
- 2:04Speaker 1: meal for dinner. Tell me I'm wrong, No, that's absolutely
- 2:07Speaker 1: that's absolutely true.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Now I want to go to Katie's. Yeah, to get
- 2:13Speaker 3: to to get the best steak. You're gonna have to
- 2:15Speaker 3: spend one hundred bucks to get the best breakfast you
- 2:17Speaker 3: can spend twenty bucks, So you're right, Yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, breakfast all day. That's gotta be my new restaurant.
- 2:23Speaker 1: But I'll spell it with a like Oh no, I
- 2:27Speaker 1: gotta have a clever spelling.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Spell like an adult.
- 2:31Speaker 5: Joe. I remember you're gonna have a restaurant called Walk
- 2:33Speaker 5: this Way and you were in spell at w Ok.
- 2:36Speaker 2: That's right. Yeah, one of my many ideas.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Yeah, Chinese restaurant breakfast.
- 2:40Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe I'll just have a whole food court.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I'll like offer a suite of restaurants, like I'll buy
- 2:45Speaker 1: out a strip mall and I'll have Walk this Way
- 2:49Speaker 1: and then I'll have breakfast all day. And then I
- 2:52Speaker 1: don't know, I'll come up with some more ideas, probably
- 2:55Speaker 1: not as great as those two would be good. Uh oh,
- 3:03Speaker 1: speaking of which, one final side before we get into
- 3:05Speaker 1: the horrifying raypie story from Nature and it's worse than
- 3:09Speaker 1: you think, lady lady. So my my old friend Drew,
- 3:17Speaker 1: who worked in Mexico for several years.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Uh no, sombrero, it's not catching. No, have you ever
- 3:29Speaker 2: been to Mexico?
- 3:30Speaker 1: Not everybody wears the sombrero you raises culture, not a
- 3:33Speaker 1: costume anyway, but he became aware of and this is
- 3:37Speaker 1: a very popular in rural parts of Mexisco, especially or
- 3:40Speaker 1: people of who.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Are not rich.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Discatta it is the disc from a plow that they
- 3:48Speaker 1: just change a little bit with welding and sometimes referred
- 3:51Speaker 1: to as the cowboy walk in the United States. And
- 3:55Speaker 1: it's it's essentially an outdoor you put it over a
- 3:58Speaker 1: fire walk to cook up your meat and taters and
- 4:01Speaker 1: vegetables or whatever. And Drew would make this for a
- 4:04Speaker 1: big party once a year so and it's just absolutely fantastic,
- 4:08Speaker 1: and partly because we're going to get our kitchen room
- 4:10Speaker 1: modeled if the permitting ever comes through. I bought one,
- 4:16Speaker 1: but I need like really good discatta recipes, including if
- 4:21Speaker 1: people were like, dude, just go to a Chinese cookbook
- 4:23Speaker 1: and that's what you do, or put anything in there.
- 4:26Speaker 2: You can't screw it up. I'm just curious. I want
- 4:28Speaker 2: to make the most out of it. But it's the
- 4:30Speaker 2: food is delicious. This stew is in its own juice.
- 4:34Speaker 3: But the fact that it was on a disc was
- 4:36Speaker 3: a farm implement. Does that help the food or is
- 4:38Speaker 3: that just.
- 4:41Speaker 2: Is that part of it.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I think in the same way, like like a cast
- 4:45Speaker 1: iron frying pan cooks food a little differently, and you
- 4:48Speaker 1: don't like wash it with soap, you'd wipe it out.
- 4:50Speaker 2: And it cures with the oils and stuff like that.
- 4:53Speaker 2: It's one of those things. Why are you looking at
- 4:56Speaker 2: me like that?
- 4:56Speaker 4: Because you're like, oh, man, I just need some recipes.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I wish there was some.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Thing like a like a box, the electronic and you
- 5:03Speaker 4: could type in the scotta recipes and then there would
- 5:08Speaker 4: be lists.
- 5:10Speaker 2: You know what, girl, Why I.
- 5:14Speaker 3: Wish there was like this thing. It's like a box.
- 5:19Speaker 1: I don't know, some way to put letters and words
- 5:22Speaker 1: into the box and then ask.
- 5:24Speaker 2: It not I what stuff people have actually enjoyed.
- 5:27Speaker 1: I'm not gonna go out into the freaking internet. I've
- 5:29Speaker 1: already done that. It's like, I don't know anyway, but
- 5:32Speaker 1: you're not wrong. So here's the deal. A locally famous
- 5:38Speaker 1: sea otter in Canada, and you ask how does an
- 5:42Speaker 1: otter become famous?
- 5:44Speaker 2: Well, do you know honors? Have you seen honors? They're
- 5:47Speaker 2: cute as can be?
- 5:48Speaker 3: Mm hm.
- 5:48Speaker 1: You ever go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium or.
- 5:51Speaker 2: The aquarium most convenient to you where you live.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Uh, they're unbelievably charming, charismatic and.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I'll e the otter. Oh we even as like cute name.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Has his own Facebook fan page chuck full of adorable photos.
- 6:07Speaker 2: But here's the deal.
- 6:09Speaker 3: So like that squirrel, yeah, peanut the squirrel.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Oh that the State of New York killed for being
- 6:15Speaker 1: a conservative squirrel? Right, he saved his nuts for winter.
- 6:19Speaker 1: He didn't like go to the government and say, oh,
- 6:21Speaker 1: it's winter, I'm hungry.
- 6:22Speaker 2: You gotta give me nuts. It's not my fault. Oh,
- 6:24Speaker 2: he's saved them like a squirrel. Should they killed him
- 6:28Speaker 2: for it? Anyway?
- 6:31Speaker 1: So Ali is a sea otter, and like sea otters,
- 6:35Speaker 1: sometimes he hangs out in rivers. But he's the only sea.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Otter in the immediate area.
- 6:43Speaker 1: And evidently, unlike my people, the Neanderthals that would get
- 6:46Speaker 1: with Homo sapiens and you know, make sweet cave man love,
- 6:51Speaker 1: sea otters don't get with with uh usually with with
- 6:55Speaker 1: river otters, kay, unless they murder them first and then
- 7:00Speaker 1: have sex with their corpses.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Whoa Okay, says.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Wildlife educator Molly Cameron. He's the only sea otter in
- 7:09Speaker 1: the immediate area. So the assumption is that he does this.
- 7:12Speaker 1: He kills the river otters then sort of had his
- 7:14Speaker 1: has his way with them for multiple days to release
- 7:17Speaker 1: the sexual tension of being the only sea otter around.
- 7:21Speaker 3: So ist snuff films a regular thing? Or is it
- 7:24Speaker 3: just this one aberan seatter?
- 7:27Speaker 1: That's not well? The nature expert says, it's known to happen.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I mean, they don't put a number on it. But
- 7:33Speaker 1: Ali the otter, oh look at him, is suspected of
- 7:37Speaker 1: murdering at least twenty river otters over the last decade
- 7:42Speaker 1: and having sex.
- 7:43Speaker 2: With their corpses. Barbaric, it is, sir.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Hmm. So for days do they still have the website
- 7:53Speaker 3: for the necrophiliac?
- 7:56Speaker 2: Or lord?
- 8:01Speaker 1: He will carry his victims around, they say, according to
- 8:04Speaker 1: this nature educator, like a Teddy bear for days.
- 8:08Speaker 3: So it's like a Jeffrey Dahmer sea otter.
- 8:11Speaker 2: It's very much like that.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Yeah, wow, says CBC News. That's that's the network up
- 8:21Speaker 1: there in Canada. They have TVs now, by the way,
- 8:25Speaker 1: uh and they will have all the modern conveniences when
- 8:28Speaker 1: they become our fifty first state. But CBC News, talking
- 8:31Speaker 1: to another otter researcher, male seatters without access to females
- 8:35Speaker 1: become sexually frustrating and frustrated, and the results often aren't pretty.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Yeah, he's what sometimes is referred to as a satellite male.
- 8:44Speaker 1: He's sitting there just hoping he's made a territory that's
- 8:46Speaker 1: going to have females in it, and it doesn't, so
- 8:49Speaker 1: instead he murders the innocent river otters and then does
- 8:54Speaker 1: what I said in cell.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 8:57Speaker 4: So I'm looking at an article on vox and apparently
- 9:04Speaker 4: they're referring here to otters as the necrophiliac serial killing
- 9:10Speaker 4: fur monsters of the sea.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Okay, some that's a good phrase right there.
- 9:15Speaker 2: I appreciate that.
- 9:16Speaker 4: They rape baby seals and hold others pups hostage for food.
- 9:22Speaker 1: I was just gonna mention that twenty ten scientific paper
- 9:25Speaker 1: documented cases of forced copulation between male sea otters in
- 9:29Speaker 1: California and young arbor seals.
- 9:31Speaker 3: This, this is wrong.
- 9:32Speaker 4: They can't rapers.
- 9:35Speaker 3: They can't be that cute and act like this. That's
- 9:37Speaker 3: an interesting stance, well.
- 9:40Speaker 2: Spoken, like somebody whose fills carnther kay.
- 9:44Speaker 3: To jerk is uh, that is interesting. So I am
- 9:51Speaker 3: a third of the way through the book Sapiens. They
- 9:53Speaker 3: keep jumping back and forth in it. And he explains
- 9:56Speaker 3: in that book what's unique about humans and they're evil
- 10:01Speaker 3: from the animal world, taking into the account that sometimes
- 10:04Speaker 3: monkey's murder and dolphin's rape, and then you get the
- 10:08Speaker 3: sea otter thing. It's something to do with animals generally
- 10:12Speaker 3: do it to gain something, as opposed to the way
- 10:17Speaker 3: people sometimes just do it for to be cruel. Usually
- 10:22Speaker 3: in the animal world it's like to take over a
- 10:27Speaker 3: chunk of the jungle, or to drive them out of
- 10:30Speaker 3: it or whatever.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Or to get your otter rocks off in this case.
- 10:35Speaker 1: Now there are cases of dolphins doing what really looks
- 10:39Speaker 1: like toying with their victims before they end them. But
- 10:43Speaker 1: in general, though, I'm sure he's right.
- 10:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know. I don't remember. I'll have to
- 10:48Speaker 3: find that again because I thought it was really interesting you.
- 10:52Speaker 1: So, does anybody have a lighter or more humorous note
- 10:55Speaker 1: to end this with? If I'd been thinking ahead, I
- 10:57Speaker 1: would have come prepared with them.
- 10:58Speaker 4: I apologize after hearing that you want to hand feed
- 11:02Speaker 4: an otter, you can go to SeaQuest in fulsome because
- 11:05Speaker 4: I've done that there, or you can handfeed them. They
- 11:07Speaker 4: stick their little arms through a hole in the glass
- 11:09Speaker 4: and they grab the shrimp out of your hand.
- 11:11Speaker 3: And all that is. That's got to be cute as hack.
- 11:13Speaker 4: It's so cute.
- 11:15Speaker 3: But now that I know they do this, barbaric otters
- 11:18Speaker 3: are cute. They have the advance and some animals just
- 11:20Speaker 3: have the advantage of being cute.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Wow. So but I mean they murder and then have
- 11:29Speaker 2: sex with the corpse.
- 11:30Speaker 3: But that's cute.
- 11:32Speaker 5: Oh boy, don't forget when animals attack, which was on Fox.
- 11:37Speaker 2: The most horrifying comedy attack ever caught on tam.
- 11:41Speaker 5: If you remember that, that's true story, Katie, and also
- 11:44Speaker 5: on Family Guy when they advertise the Fox show Fast Animals, Slow.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Children, another comedy classic. Yes, well, I guess that's it.
