Transcript
- 0:00Please open your Bible to chapter 2.
- 0:16We're actually going to finish this chapter today.
- 0:22Hebrews chapter 2.
- 0:24We're going to go through 10 through 18 today.
- 0:27And I want to clarify some things in this message,
- 0:31and the importance of paying attention to the context of what's being said here.
- 0:37Because there are some things that are said in translation, I think, can have a tendency,
- 0:42and in many cases has had a tendency to draw us away from what God is trying to say here.
- 0:48This is part 2 of Christ the Better Adam. You'll see that in this message.
- 0:53And just the importance of allowing the scripture to interpret scripture, context upon context, precept upon precept,
- 1:03the importance of biblical hermeneutics, right?
- 1:08The interpretation of the word.
- 1:10So there are many things, especially in these days, where interpretation is taken way out of context.
- 1:18And as a result, really does do harm to the church.
- 1:24So that being said, I want to deal with one particular issue.
- 1:27I think if you guys have been on YouTube at all, or any of the news, Fox News or anything else,
- 1:32you've heard about this new quote unquote law that has been passed called 60-90.
- 1:40Okay, the 60-90 law is this law that's been passed concerning anti-Semitic statements.
- 1:50And that because of this law, it puts Christianity in a very bad situation,
- 1:58because what they're claiming is that in the scripture it says that the Jews had killed Jesus,
- 2:04and you're accusing them to be murderers, and as a result, it's anti-Semitic.
- 2:10So let me clarify some very important things.
- 2:13As long as the First Amendment of the Constitution exists, there's nothing they can do.
- 2:20So don't worry.
- 2:22It's a fear-mongering thing, so that we can keep the alt-right and the alt-left at odds with each other.
- 2:29And it really deviates people's attention from the reality and the importance of the gospel
- 2:36and the purpose of what we do as a church.
- 2:39So even if they were to use that to jail us or call us anti-Semitic,
- 2:47we as God's people will not succumb to the tyranny of evil government.
- 2:54We will preach the gospel in its full entirety, and we will commit to the sound truth of the word of God,
- 3:00because they can't take the word from us or out of us.
- 3:05So just stand firm, be confident in the word.
- 3:09If persecution comes, great, because then we're going to grow.
- 3:13The church is going to blow out the seams.
- 3:16So you want real true revival, real true growth? Persecution.
- 3:23So just understand that. Don't lose your bearing.
- 3:29Don't let that push, especially among some of the Christian nationalists from that perspective,
- 3:41really take you from what you've been called to do, and that is to the sound preaching and teaching of the gospel.
- 3:48So just hold to it. Don't worry about it. Not a big deal.
- 3:51Let them bring it. That being said, we're going to start off in chapter,
- 3:56we're going to read chapter two, verse five through nine, go right into verse 10,
- 4:00and then we're going to kick off our message from there.
- 4:04Father, I want to thank you so much for your word. Thank you that your word is faithful and true,
- 4:09and that it will accomplish exactly what you have set it out to do.
- 4:12What I pray is you show us and teach us your word, that the full counsel of your word is spoken,
- 4:19that we would understand the importance of the true and better Adam,
- 4:24that you are not only the founder of our salvation, of our faith, you are the author of our salvation,
- 4:32the redeemer of our salvation and the finisher.
- 4:37Lord, you will complete what you have started and we give you praise.
- 4:40Lord, help us to see clearly what chapter two says for your honor and glory.
- 4:45We ask these things in the name of Jesus. Amen.
- 4:50Verse five, for it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking.
- 4:58It has been testified somewhere, what is man, that you are mindful of him, the son of man, that you care for him.
- 5:05You made him a little lower than the angels and you crowned him with glory and honor,
- 5:10putting everything in subjection under his feet.
- 5:13Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control.
- 5:20At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him,
- 5:25but we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus,
- 5:32crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death,
- 5:37so that by the grace of God, he might taste death for everyone.
- 5:45Now it's important, let's keep going.
- 5:47For it is fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist in bringing many sons to glory,
- 5:56should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.
- 6:03So in order for us to really understand verse 10, we need to understand the whole context of what's being said here,
- 6:10because this starts to pull some things out that we need to be paying attention to.
- 6:15Principle number one, Christ's suffering completed and fulfilled the great salvation to bring many sons to glory.
- 6:26Christ's sufferings completed and fulfilled the great salvation to bring many sons to glory.
- 6:32Here is the supporting scripture, the context here.
- 6:36Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,
- 6:42let us also lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely,
- 6:48and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
- 6:52looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith,
- 6:58and for the joy that was set before him endured the cross,
- 7:02despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God, Hebrews 12, 1 and 2.
- 7:10So there it is, the supporting truth of the reality that he is the beginning and the perfecter,
- 7:19the finishing, the ending of our faith. He is our faith.
- 7:25Now, some very important words in chapter two, verse 10, for it was fitting.
- 7:33Prepo is the word here. So this word prepo literally means to stand out, to be imminent.
- 7:43It is fit or right. That's what this word prepo means.
- 7:48So this word fitting in translation is actually a good word.
- 7:52So it is fit or right. It is fit or right for him to stand out, for him to be imminent.
- 8:01It is fit or right that he is the founder, that he is the perfecter,
- 8:06that he is the one who is accomplishing this great salvation in us,
- 8:10and that everything that is associated with this amazing salvation, this great salvation,
- 8:16it is fitting for him. Why? Why is it fitting? Why should he stand out?
- 8:25Why should he be imminent? Why should it be right?
- 8:30Because that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, he is the reason why you exist.
- 8:40He is the creator. So it is fitting for him to have accomplished all of this. Why?
- 8:48Because he created it. All things exist because of him.
- 8:52And as a result of the creator who put on flesh and became like one of us,
- 9:00he then can bring many sons to glory. Isn't that amazing?
- 9:07Notice he doesn't say all sons, all of human life to glory. Only many. Only many.
- 9:17Now, why many? Why just this few?
- 9:22Because he, bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder, the beginning,
- 9:31the author, the completer, the finisher of our faith, of their salvation perfect.
- 9:41This word perfect is telieo.
- 9:45Telieo means to bring to an end, complete, finish, or fulfill.
- 9:51What did he bring? What did the founder of our faith, the author of our faith do?
- 9:58He, through telieo, brought an end or completed, finished, or fulfilled
- 10:09what was required for our salvation through suffering.
- 10:14So I don't know if I like this word perfect because it makes a lot more sense that he,
- 10:20who brought many sons to glory, should make the founder, the beginner of our salvation,
- 10:26the author of our salvation, he should bring an end and fulfill what's required
- 10:34for salvation through suffering. That's what this means.
- 10:37But that Christ, through the work, fulfilled it through suffering. That's what this means.
- 10:44When you read that, you're like, well, I don't see that there, but that's exactly what it means.
- 10:49The word study is clear.
- 10:52A lot of word study in this message.
- 10:56Christ, second principle, Christ has satisfied, justified, and made us acceptable to and for him.
- 11:07It is, if Christ is not ashamed of you, why should you be ashamed of him?
- 11:12Especially for all he has done for you.
- 11:16I can't help but think there are many Christians when it comes to the knit and grit
- 11:20of being a faithful example and a witness are really ashamed.
- 11:25They're just hesitant, don't want to talk about it.
- 11:28So they avoid talking about it.
- 11:31Why? Maybe don't know enough for, but the reality is if the Spirit of God lives in you,
- 11:36then you will know what to say.
- 11:40Hebrews 2, 11 through 13, clarify some very important things here.
- 11:45For he, Christ, who sanctifies, he's the sanctifier, and those who are sanctified,
- 11:54meaning us, all have one source.
- 11:57What's interesting in the actual language is this word source doesn't exist, it's implied.
- 12:04It literally says for he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one.
- 12:11That's it.
- 12:12All have one what? Founder of your salvation.
- 12:17All have one finisher of your salvation.
- 12:21All have one, right, author of your salvation.
- 12:27That through Christ, he who sanctifies, we all have one.
- 12:33One what? One faith, one hope in Christ.
- 12:36One ultimate purpose and goal and plan was accomplished.
- 12:41We are in the Father.
- 12:44If we are in Christ, then Christ is in the Father, then we are in the Father with Christ.
- 12:49That's what this means.
- 12:51Interesting.
- 12:53So in reality, the word source can be applied there in assumption.
- 13:00He is the source of all things for us concerning life and godliness.
- 13:06Why do I share that with you? Because what's coming next in the verse?
- 13:11That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers.
- 13:17For he who sanctifies Christ sanctified all and that we are one with him in the Father.
- 13:27And that is why he is not ashamed to call you a brother or a sister.
- 13:34Like think about that.
- 13:36It'd be kind of difficult if in reality he was ashamed of us.
- 13:40But we are one in him.
- 13:43Because of that, he can say with confidence that he is not ashamed to call us brothers.
- 13:50This word that is why is itea, not Ikea.
- 13:58Itea, this word itea means a cause or reason or one worthy of punishment.
- 14:07Think about that.
- 14:09He became the punishment for us.
- 14:14He took the punishment that we deserved.
- 14:19He is the cause and the reason of our great salvation.
- 14:25This cause and reason in reality which we deserved, he has taken upon himself
- 14:33and he has sanctified for himself a people.
- 14:37And if this is true, then you understand that if we are in him as one,
- 14:42then he is not ashamed to call us brothers.
- 14:46Because if he was, his salvation would be worthless.
- 14:51What's the point of dying and saving a people if you are ashamed of them?
- 14:57So now you understand a little bit why the writer writes in this way.
- 15:01Itea, it's a word there.
- 15:05So verse 12 starts to make a little bit more sense.
- 15:10If he is not ashamed to call us brothers, then in verse 12 when it says,
- 15:19saying, I will tell your name to my brothers in the midst of the congregation,
- 15:25I will sing your praise.
- 15:28And again, I will put my trust in him and again, behold, I and the children God has given me.
- 15:38In other words, look at me and the children that God has given me.
- 15:42Behold.
- 15:44And so what we come to understand is if he is not ashamed of us and he has told,
- 15:50he has shared and told us about the name of the Lord God, Yahweh, to his brothers,
- 16:00and he sung praise among them in the congregation or praise of God in the congregation,
- 16:07then why should we be ashamed?
- 16:11Are you willing to tell of God's name to the brothers in the midst of the congregation
- 16:18to sing his praise?
- 16:21And are you willing to put your trust in him?
- 16:25Because behold, I and the children God has given me.
- 16:30All that the Father has given me, I will not lose.
- 16:34We are his forever.
- 16:36Nothing can pluck us out of his hand.
- 16:39That's what this means.
- 16:40I'm starting to make a lot more sense when you read this from this perspective.
- 16:45Don't worry.
- 16:46This ends up being a monkey wrench thrown in here and you go, well, where did that come from?
- 16:49I got it.
- 16:50Third principle.
- 16:53Through Christ's death and suffering, we are set free from lifelong slavery and penalty of sin,
- 17:00which is death.
- 17:02Here's the scriptural context.
- 17:04So if the son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
- 17:10John 8.36.
- 17:12Hebrews 2.14-15 says, since therefore, in other words, hey, since all of this is true,
- 17:20everything that I've just said to you, therefore, the children share in flesh and blood.
- 17:27Since therefore, we who are children or brothers of Christ share in flesh and blood,
- 17:36he himself likewise, portook of the same things that through death, he might destroy the one who has
- 17:49the power of death, that is the devil, and deliver all those through fear of death were subject to
- 17:59lifelong slavery.
- 18:00And you go, there it is.
- 18:01The devil did it.
- 18:03You guys ready for a little bit of, you're about to get totally confused right here.
- 18:10I'm confused.
- 18:11When I said devil, I was like, why is that there?
- 18:13Like, what's the point of the word devil?
- 18:16And we all assume it's the devil, and it's not.
- 18:22It's not Satan.
- 18:24You guys knew I was going to do that.
- 18:27So far, we've been dealing with the issue of sin, have we not?
- 18:32Have we not dealt with the reality of what sin has put upon our lives, that sin is the one that
- 18:40brings death?
- 18:43Here we go.
- 18:44Since therefore, the children share in flesh and blood.
- 18:49What's that mean?
- 18:51We're human.
- 18:53We have flesh and blood.
- 18:54We will die.
- 18:56And so, he himself, Christ, likewise, partook of the same things.
- 19:03He also became flesh and blood like us.
- 19:07Why?
- 19:08Because he thought that through death, he might destroy the one who has the power of death.
- 19:17Now, think about that.
- 19:19Now, if we read this and keep reading it, it says the devil, you would assume the devil has the
- 19:24power of death.
- 19:25Am I right?
- 19:27Is that what the scriptures say?
- 19:29Let's think contextually about this.
- 19:31The wages of sin is?
- 19:33Say it.
- 19:36So, what has the power of death?
- 19:39Sin.
- 19:41Are you ready?
- 19:42Here we go.
- 19:44So, this thing that has the power of death, the word devil, it is the word Diablos, but it's
- 19:52lowercase d.
- 19:53And if you read and understand what Diablos means in the Greek, it does not ever, ever, ever
- 20:01associate as an individual.
- 20:04It says figuratively that it could, in figurative, point to a person who acts like this.
- 20:16Read the translation.
- 20:18But here's what it means.
- 20:20This is the actual translation for Diablos.
- 20:23It means accuser, slanderer, or culminator.
- 20:27That's what it means.
- 20:29No secret meaning.
- 20:31Now, let's use this from the translation and kind of grasp what he's saying here is that
- 20:36this very thing that he destroyed, the one who has, or the thing that has the power of
- 20:45death over you, which is the accuser, slanderer, and culminator that brings death to you, then
- 20:55when he delivers us, we are no longer slaves to it.
- 21:00And so what do I mean?
- 21:03Well, what I mean is I don't know about you, but there are many, many days I wake up and
- 21:08I am literally in a battle mentally and emotionally with this thing that I live with called sin.
- 21:18Just because I am born again and my spirit is alive and made perfect in Christ, I still
- 21:23live in this body which is at war with me and wants to kill me.
- 21:28And the fact is that one day if the Lord tarries, it will kill me.
- 21:35Death will come to every one of us.
- 21:38Why?
- 21:39Because of sin.
- 21:42And so every day you wake up, it accuses you.
- 21:45Every day you look in the mirror and you don't like the way you look, it slanders you.
- 21:50Every day you get up and it's a culminator against you, it's an enemy.
- 21:55And every day there are Christians who have been told in the pulpit that it's the devil,
- 22:03live lives defeated and wonder why they can never get beyond where they are today.
- 22:11Because they aren't really dealing with the real true enemy that they live with every day.
- 22:16They're dealing with an enemy that they've been told is their enemy.
- 22:20The devil is a small enemy compared to the reality of the enemy of sin.
- 22:26Sin is still destroying people today.
- 22:30It is a big enemy.
- 22:32So much so that this very enemy has the power of death over everything.
- 22:39That's the point of why Jesus came to deliver us from this power of death called sin.
- 22:46The very thing that sin holds over us.
- 22:51It makes a lot of sense when you read Romans and you read in context what's being said here.
- 22:59That the very thing that the first Adam could not do but brought death to us,
- 23:05as the scripture says, because one man sinned, all sinned, because all sinned, all will die.
- 23:11Christ came to deliver us from that enemy, not the devil, not the angelic being.
- 23:24It's not the right understanding here.
- 23:26It's the right translation.
- 23:30But as good scripture, good expository preaching should be showing you the reality
- 23:37that it's the accuser, the slanderer, the culminator you wake up with every day called sin.
- 23:43And that Christ has destroyed that for his people, though we will live with it for a little while.
- 23:52And so let's keep reading.
- 23:55This word deliverer, apolosso, means to remove, release, depart, set free, or deliver.
- 24:04He will apolosso or he did apolosso all those who through fear of death were subject.
- 24:16Anakos. Anakos means bound or under obligation or subject or liable.
- 24:25We were bound to sin. We were under the obligation of sin.
- 24:29We were subject to sin. We were liable to sin.
- 24:32And as a result, we were lifelong slaves.
- 24:37But he delivered us from slavery to sin.
- 24:46How do we know that?
- 24:49Because it says that we, if we have a sinful nature, were slaves to sin.
- 24:56But now that we've been set free from sin, we are now slaves to Christ.
- 25:03I love being able to look through the scripture and bring context and clarity to the truth of his word.
- 25:10It's so good.
- 25:13It's heartbreaking to see so many people abandoning the faith.
- 25:20I was looking at, I was watching a man who left Reformed theology to go to Orthodox theology.
- 25:28He said that the word of God that we have today is wrong, that the true faith is Orthodox Christianity.
- 25:36No, the truth faith is biblical Christianity.
- 25:41That's true faith. Get in line with that.
- 25:45Teach the full counsel of God's word. Understand what God's word says. You'll be okay.
- 25:50But people jump and ship fast.
- 25:54And so for us who at one time feared death and were subject to lifelong slavery, he has freed us.
- 26:06I'll say it in this way. This is my translation.
- 26:11I kind of wrote it so I can help clarify in a statement what all of that means to kind of help to relax the waters.
- 26:21And so here's my translation of verse 14 and 15.
- 26:26Since therefore we share in being human flesh and blood, Christ had become a partaker of the same things born in the likeness of man.
- 26:38He experienced the struggles and pains of being human, but he did not sin.
- 26:43He through death put an end and did away with that which possessed us, the power of death,
- 26:53that which accuses, slanders, and personally attacks us, the enemy called sin.
- 27:00He delivers all who fear death to which we were lifelong slaves.
- 27:07That's what this means. Makes a lot more sense now, doesn't it?
- 27:12Last principle. Christ the true and better Adam was for us what the first Adam could not be, our gracious and faithful high priest and king.
- 27:22Those who belong to the family of faith through Christ's work on the cross have what no other faith has.
- 27:31No faith on the planet can declare this statement.
- 27:36A God who understands his people in every way and is our ever present help. Why?
- 27:42Because he came as man. He had to come as man. He could not be an animal.
- 27:50I don't know about you. I don't look like a sheep. An animal, a lamb? Nah.
- 27:59We might act like sheep, but I don't look like a sheep.
- 28:04Sheep are not created in the image of its creator. We are.
- 28:09And so the only right sacrifice is the God who created us to give himself as a sacrifice.
- 28:17We were created in his image. We are the image bearers and as a result the only right and perfect sacrifice would be himself.
- 28:26If that was not true, God would have continued to allow animals to be sacrificed.
- 28:31But they're not appropriate sacrifices.
- 28:36What's amazing is that his sacrifice was once for all.
- 28:41Now, let's prove this out a little bit here.
- 28:47Hebrews chapter 2 verse 16 through 18, this is the last.
- 28:51For surely, in other words, this is an absolute fact, it is not angels that he helps.
- 28:59He didn't come to deliver angels. He didn't come to help angels get through their struggles every day.
- 29:06But he helps the offspring of Abraham. Who are the offspring of Abraham?
- 29:12Here's the answer, Galatians chapter 3 verse 6 through 7.
- 29:16You want to know who the offspring are? Here it is.
- 29:19Just as Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness, know then it is those of faith who are sons of Abraham.
- 29:31It's not the world. God doesn't come to help the world.
- 29:36He come to help his people. The world doesn't want his help.
- 29:40If you have any questions about that, read John the Gospel chapter 11 on. Actually, you can go even further than that.
- 29:49He came to deliver them and he rejected them over and over and over again.
- 29:53He has come to help his offspring, his people.
- 29:58And his people are designated as the people or the offspring of Abraham.
- 30:04What was special about Abraham? He was a man of faith.
- 30:08So then those of faith are sons of Abraham.
- 30:14That puts a monkey wrench in a lot of theology.
- 30:17Verse 17 says, Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every way.
- 30:24He had to put on flesh like us. He had to be tempted and not sin like us.
- 30:32He had to feel pain and struggle like us. He had to suffer like us.
- 30:37Why? So that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God for us.
- 30:46He is the one who stands in our behalf.
- 30:52As the accusers accuse us, he declares us innocent.
- 30:58He is your advocate. And as your advocate, you'll see this word coming up,
- 31:04which we taught the kids in a little bit ago.
- 31:07As an advocate, he can, without any hesitation, make propitiation for the sins of his people.
- 31:19The sins of the people who? The people of faith.
- 31:23Why do I say that?
- 31:25Not many people teach the issue of propitiation or atonement,
- 31:31substitutionary atonement from this perspective, but I want to clarify it.
- 31:35Some would probably disagree. Not my problem. That's fine.
- 31:40The reality of God's atonement or propitiation, specifically his substitutionary atonement,
- 31:46his offer is to the world for God so loved the world that he gave.
- 31:51Here's the offer. The application of that atonement is only to the believer.
- 31:57God is not obligated to apply atonement to everyone.
- 32:04He is only obligated to apply atonement to his people.
- 32:09But because God is gracious and good and loving, he offers atonement.
- 32:13But what do they choose? Because of their nature.
- 32:17Because they are elect. They love their darkness. They don't want atonement.
- 32:23And that is the reality of the world we live in.
- 32:26And so this makes a lot more sense so that he might become a merciful high priest in the service of God
- 32:33to make propitiation for the sins of the people who? The people of faith.
- 32:40What's wonderful about this word propitiation, helascomai,
- 32:45it means to appease or to overcome the hostility of, to win over, to atone for, or to make amends.
- 32:55Now think about that. Didn't Jesus do all that?
- 32:59He appeased the anger and the wrath of God by becoming our sacrifice.
- 33:04God poured his own wrath, the father, on his son.
- 33:07The scripture says that the father was pleased to destroy the son.
- 33:11That was an appeasement.
- 33:13Second, Jesus overcame the hostility of the wrath of God.
- 33:18Trust me, if you don't accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and you go to hell,
- 33:23you're going to experience a whole lot of hostility.
- 33:27Not going to be fun.
- 33:29Next, he has won for us.
- 33:33He has won us over because of his sacrifice.
- 33:37He is also the atonement, the object that God has used to pour his wrath out.
- 33:43The blood sacrifice for us that has taken away our sin.
- 33:49He is the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
- 33:53And he makes amends.
- 33:55He makes right what we could never make right.
- 34:00You see, what Adam failed to do, Jesus has accomplished.
- 34:06He is the true and better Adam.
- 34:09That's the point of this chapter.
- 34:12And because of all that, verse 18, for because he himself, Christ,
- 34:19has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
- 34:27He understands our struggle.
- 34:31And because he has suffered and died and has gone through temptation
- 34:36and has won without sin, perfectly obeyed God the Father in all things,
- 34:43he is absolutely able to help you when you are tempted.
- 34:48So what is this word tempted?
- 34:52Turn to James chapter 1, which makes a lot more sense now
- 34:56that we've clarified chapter 2 in Hebrews.
- 35:00That our enemy is sin and how you as a believer in God
- 35:06can live a life that is victorious.
- 35:12Not perfect, not without suffering, but victorious.
- 35:18And here it is.
- 35:19What is temptation?
- 35:23How does he help us?
- 35:25Well, think about it this way.
- 35:26You guys ready?
- 35:28Many would say, the devil made me, at least if you read chapter 2
- 35:33and you would assume that the devil is the person and not sin,
- 35:36you'd be like, see, it's the devil's fault.
- 35:41He's messing with a lot of people.
- 35:44Pretty amazing how powerful that guy is.
- 35:47Look what it says.
- 35:48Trust me, I'm not denying the existence of the devil.
- 35:52But the scripture says he's before the throne accusing the saints night and day.
- 35:57I don't know about you, but night and day means a whole long time.
- 36:02Okay?
- 36:03So let's see.
- 36:05Look what it says in verse 13.
- 36:09James 1 verse 13.
- 36:10What is temptation?
- 36:13Let no one say when he is tempted, I'm being tempted by God.
- 36:17For God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.
- 36:23You guys ready?
- 36:25This is going to hurt.
- 36:27But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.
- 36:37There's your enemy.
- 36:38Sin right there.
- 36:40Look what it says.
- 36:42Then desire, when it has conceived, gives birth to sin,
- 36:47and sin, when it is fully grown, brings forth death.
- 36:52Isn't that interesting?
- 36:54How come it doesn't say each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by the devil?
- 37:02We are lured and enticed by our own sinful desires.
- 37:07We are by nature sinful beings in our body.
- 37:11And this body is showing that every single day.
- 37:14One day he will make our bodies like his, incorruptible and immortal.
- 37:22But until then, we have got to walk with Christ, with intent and purpose.
- 37:30So when we read chapter two of Hebrews, I almost said Romans, of Hebrews,
- 37:37man, do you see the clarity of what's being said here?
- 37:41You want to live a victorious Christian life?
- 37:44Let Christ live.
- 37:46Stop blaming everyone and everything else.
- 37:50And look at the reality that he has freed you and has destroyed the power of death over your life called sin.
- 38:01We choose our sinful nature instead of choosing Christ, our spiritual nature.
- 38:11So, whom the Lord has set free is free indeed.
- 38:19Father, I want to thank you so much for your faithfulness and goodness.
- 38:22To you be honor and glory and might.
- 38:26Thank you so much that you are the founder, the finisher, the perfecter of our faith that you will complete what you have started.
- 38:37Help us to walk in real, true victory in the truth of your word.
- 38:44To stand firm for your glory in Jesus' name, Amen.
