- 0:11Hello to all the comic fans, Marvel geeks, and all the nerds
- 0:14in between. Welcome to another episode of
- 0:15the Vigilante Vibes podcast where we talk all things about
- 0:18Marvel without the toxicity that's taking up way too much
- 0:20space in each and every fandom. So I'm your host, Megan Nicole,
- 0:24and today I'm very pleased to introduce a very special guest.
- 0:27Today I'm joined by the amazing Justin from I Don't Beat Games.
- 0:31You may have seen him literally everywhere on the Internet,
- 0:34spreading his nerdy gospel and being the biggest Blue Beetle
- 0:38Stan I've ever met in my entire life.
- 0:41So hello, Justin, thank you for. Joining us.
- 0:43It's an honor to be here. And yes, it is true.
- 0:45I kind of become known for being the Blue Beetle guy, which is
- 0:48genuinely hilarious. But I roll with that.
- 0:50I wear that as a badge of Otter. You should even like your
- 0:55background is very Blue Beetle vibes.
- 0:57Yeah, I could change the color, but I was like, you know what?
- 0:59I have to stick to the brand. I'm a keeper.
- 1:01I'm not going to change it. Let's give the people what they
- 1:04want, you know? And that is like, it's so funny
- 1:07because every time on threads, if you guys aren't following
- 1:09Justin, you're bananas. Look up.
- 1:11I don't beat games. Just follow them.
- 1:13You will not regret it. But every time I see something,
- 1:16anything, a morsel blue beetle, I know you're going to be tagged
- 1:20in it without doubt. And I always like, oh, it's
- 1:24going to be me today. Nope.
- 1:26Someone beats me to it. I'm like, you know what?
- 1:27That's fine. It's become a thing where it's
- 1:30really funny to me because like, I don't know where this began,
- 1:34but everybody for some reason on threads feels the need to tag me
- 1:38whenever it's something about Blue Beetle, whether it's news,
- 1:40whether it's a random post, whether it's them telling me I
- 1:44watch Blue Beetle because of you.
- 1:46And I'm like, really? And it's just funny to me
- 1:49because it hasn't stopped. It's like every single week at
- 1:52this point. And I'm just like, you know
- 1:54what? I'm fine.
- 1:55So be it. Keep doing it.
- 1:57It's great. James Gunn's better run you that
- 1:59money because you're like the only one who's out here doing
- 2:02this. Look man, I'll take what I can
- 2:04get. It doesn't have to be money.
- 2:06But James Gunn, if you need me out of blue carpet for the Blue
- 2:09Beetle animated series, I'm there.
- 2:12That's not, that's it. I mean, it's like it's such a
- 2:15big thing with you. The other day I was putting on
- 2:18my Blue Beetle shirt and I was like, Aww, I don't be games.
- 2:23It's great. I just, I just love that this
- 2:26has become so synonymous with me because like usually when
- 2:30something happens like that, you kind of just grow tired of it.
- 2:33But for me, it kind of like adds a sense of like strength of
- 2:36like, I'm glad people see Blue Beetle and they think of me like
- 2:40that. That makes me happy.
- 2:43So besides your Blue Beetle persona, I guess I don't know.
- 2:47Personality quality, Yeah, sure. Great.
- 2:50I don't know. Tell us about you, because
- 2:53you're everywhere. OK so hi, my name is Justin.
- 2:59I am a New Yorker. I am a very nerdy person.
- 3:02I have been into movies for as long as I can remember.
- 3:05A lot of people know this already, but my favorite movie
- 3:06of all time is Jurassic Park. That should not shock anybody
- 3:09who knows me. I became ADC fan around the
- 3:13golden era of cartoons, which is when Teen Titans was on, you
- 3:16know, Cartoon Network, Batman Beyond, Justice League, Justice
- 3:20League Unlimited, Static Shock, like that became my world.
- 3:22For me, of course, like everybody else, when Iron Man
- 3:25came to the big screen, I still remember seeing that in
- 3:28theaters, believe it or not. And for me, I started my journey
- 3:32of consecration with one goal, which is to just be like an open
- 3:35voice where I feel like I'm giving my opinion to people and
- 3:38rather than than it being I'm right, you're wrong.
- 3:42It's more like, this is my opinion, This is why I feel this
- 3:45way. This is what I mean by what I am
- 3:48saying. Please tell me whether you agree
- 3:50with me. Tell me why you disagree with
- 3:52me. Just voice your opinions in the
- 3:54comments down below. That has always been my goal.
- 3:57So with threads, I realized that at that point in time, I wasn't
- 4:01like totally in love with video making 'cause you know, I'm sure
- 4:04you can relate to this video making an exhausting process.
- 4:08A lot of people just. Exhausting.
- 4:09Process. You have to love it to want to
- 4:12keep doing it. And I burned myself out on it
- 4:15and I was like, I'm just gonna do something different.
- 4:17And threads launched and rather than like trying to make videos
- 4:20and promoting it and trying to get people to Click to a link or
- 4:22whatever, I decided what annoys me the most when Twitter was a
- 4:26thing, right? And I'm sure you will absolutely
- 4:29agree with you when I say this, I it, it genuinely infuriates
- 4:33me. But I hate, and it's a very
- 4:35strong word. I hate people who make accounts
- 4:38and then they go and they're like this character's in this
- 4:41movie. This character has a scene doing
- 4:43this. This person is cast as this
- 4:45person. It angers me.
- 4:47So I decided out of spite, right?
- 4:49This sounds so dramatic, but it's so true.
- 4:51Out of spite. I was like, I'm going to be the
- 4:53person that makes it a trend to post news, post the source, put
- 4:58the links, give people credit, put quotes, make it as detailed
- 5:02as possible so people could stay informed and know that all of
- 5:06these other people who are getting their hopes up are
- 5:08wrong. That's how we got here.
- 5:13Walt single handedly taking on the haters of She Hulk.
- 5:18Yeah, that's. Become a brand I love it it's so
- 5:20funny to me because all of this started because one day I know
- 5:23this someone said in my mentions and it's one of the many people
- 5:27there's so many people who I know who are going to watch this
- 5:29that are always in my mentions right and someone kept asking
- 5:32like what's your opinion on she Hulk what's your opinion on she
- 5:34Hulk and I they. Want to catch you slipping.
- 5:37They want you to say like it sucks, like why is it a show?
- 5:41And the thing about me is that I could understand this.
- 5:44So what I did one day was out of spite and this was like two or
- 5:46three months ago. I was like, I'm just going to
- 5:49make it that people know where I stand on She Hulk, Ironheart,
- 5:52Miss Marvel, like you're going to know how I feel about this.
- 5:56So I did it one day and it went mega viral overnight on threats
- 6:00like I had like 3,000,000 impressions and I was like, oh,
- 6:04there is something here. And I caught hey, for weeks.
- 6:08A lot of people don't know this. Like you see the dunking, you're
- 6:11like, oh, he's great, but my mentors are like, you suck,
- 6:14you're woke this, that, whatever.
- 6:16And I'm just like I always said was that it's like really good.
- 6:20You shouldn't hate it. And then now it's just a thing
- 6:23where I'll see like a She Hulk mentioned in my notification.
- 6:26I'm like, oh, opportunity. Let me see if you're right or
- 6:29wrong. You're wrong dunked on you.
- 6:30I've. Had I've had something similar
- 6:34where I someone said post your Marvel hot take and I said if
- 6:40Tony Stark was a woman he would be the most hated character of
- 6:43all of Marvel. And you're right.
- 6:45And yeah, And the amount of people is like, that's not true
- 6:49though. And I'm like, are you high?
- 6:51Are you OK? Yes, it is.
- 6:54First of all, yes it is. They would have been like, oh,
- 6:57she's rude to Captain America. Oh, why is she being
- 7:01unnecessarily snarky? But because it's Tony Stark
- 7:03doing it, it's aw, look, that's Tony.
- 7:06That's just Tony being Tony. That's what we expect out of
- 7:08him. That's why we love him.
- 7:10It's the difference of Tony being Tony and then they would
- 7:13say oh she's just a girl boss. And it's like, why is that a bad
- 7:16thing though? I'm sorry, but like.
- 7:19Robots are great. And This is why when anybody, I
- 7:22don't know if you remember this, but when Daredevil bored again
- 7:24came out and the episode where Miss Marvel was mentioned, I had
- 7:30people in my mentions telling me how ridiculous I am, how is
- 7:34unnecessary, how it was being forced, how could they do this?
- 7:37And then I'm looking at these people in my mentions and I'm
- 7:39like, this is world building. They're in the same.
- 7:44World to be in the MCU. This makes sense.
- 7:46This isn't forced. Oh, but if it was the Hulk that
- 7:50they brought up, they'd be like, Oh my God, continuity.
- 7:53But it's like Marvel. So they're like it's forced and
- 7:55you're like, no, your ignorance is showing very, very highly.
- 8:00It's the people who scream that they want comic accuracy.
- 8:03But then if you give them a comic accurate character, that's
- 8:07a woman, that's someone who's black, who's of a certain color,
- 8:10they're like, we don't want that comic accuracy.
- 8:12And it's like. OK, what people don't realize is
- 8:17that the people who are loudest about comic book accuracy,
- 8:20they're the ones who don't read comments.
- 8:22I don't know if you notice this trend, and I've I've stayed
- 8:26quiet on this for months. But there's one thing I've
- 8:28noticed about Marvel fans and DC fans.
- 8:30Don't get me wrong, I love both universes.
- 8:32I will have always been vocal that I'm ADC person first.
- 8:35That is no unknown factor. I'm wearing a STAR Labs footy
- 8:39right now for God's sake. But when it comes to DC fans,
- 8:44when if James Gunn posts a picture, if anybody posts a
- 8:47picture, whether it's Dave and Corn Sweat, Rachel Brosnahan,
- 8:51Nicholas Hou, whoever, if they post a picture of a comic book,
- 8:55that comic book is going to be sold out within a week.
- 8:57They read the comics. Oh yeah.
- 9:00Are passionate. Super girl woman of tomorrow.
- 9:02Good luck finding it anywhere. Exactly.
- 9:05And that happened last summer when it first got announced.
- 9:08But when do we talk about a Marvel comic selling out or
- 9:11Marvel fans talking about, Oh my God, I just went to go get this
- 9:13Marvel comic. It's happening now because of
- 9:16Secret War and it's happening now because of Avengers
- 9:18Doomsday, which I know we're going to get to.
- 9:21But I've never seen this common thing of Oh my God, I've read
- 9:24Marvel Comics. I always see on social media
- 9:26like, oh, I'm into DC, I'm into this genre, I'm into this brand.
- 9:30It's not just DC specific, but when it comes to Marvel, I've
- 9:34noticed that all the people who are like I want this, I want
- 9:37that, I want comic book accurate, I want this suit, I
- 9:39want that suit, I want this storyline.
- 9:40I want that storyline. Then they're giving it.
- 9:43And it's not like that. But notice it's always with the
- 9:46people of color related shows or movies.
- 9:49Oh, yeah. What I think it is, is the I
- 9:52think if DC had been in the same continuity from like what 2010,
- 9:58like Marvel has, I think there would be more of that.
- 10:01But I think because they started with the MCU, with The Avengers,
- 10:06they started Tony Stark, Chris Evans, Captain America, I think
- 10:09we would see that more in the DC side.
- 10:12But it's almost like the DC fans are like, this might as well be
- 10:16changed. This might as well be restarted.
- 10:18We've been there enough. It's not even just about being
- 10:22through enough is that we're used to things, having to have
- 10:25an arc and then come to an end. We're used to being given
- 10:28things. It runs its course, we get the
- 10:31next thing. How many Batman movies are
- 10:32there? How many Batman shows are there?
- 10:35How many different shows have come and gone since the early
- 10:372000s of they did 5 or 6 seasons, it's done.
- 10:41Here's the new thing, we did all these Snyder verse movies, some
- 10:44of them were successful. Most of them weren't critically
- 10:47and box office wise don't come from the Snyder verse fans.
- 10:50I like Snyder, I'm a Snyder verse fan.
- 10:52I like the movies. They're just very, they're not
- 10:55the characters exactly. They're variants of the
- 10:58characters in my opinion. Like that's what I see them as.
- 11:01That's what I don't mind viewing it as if it's an Ellis world's
- 11:03tale and you're like, yeah, the reason why I like is because I
- 11:05view it as this alternate Earth where it's this tone and X going
- 11:09for this type of vibe and this type of story.
- 11:11Then I'm like, I'm on board. But if you're going to tell me,
- 11:14I think the Snyder verse is the perfect iteration of the DC
- 11:17characters. It's like, no.
- 11:19Oh, the amount of people. Oh, the Henry Cavill fans.
- 11:24I don't even like I had this conversation once and I know I I
- 11:27got attacked for this. I'm not going to lie for you.
- 11:30I've had my fair share of hate trades.
- 11:32OK, It's fine. I remember what the Flash was
- 11:35like starting production and it was like, oh, we're hearing
- 11:39rumors this that it's going to reverse.
- 11:40It's going to do Flashpoint, it's going to reverse the
- 11:43timeline. It's going to reset everything
- 11:45and it's going to be brand new. And then they can start a new
- 11:47going forward. And I'm like, good.
- 11:48That's what we need. We need a reset, boy.
- 11:51We need to drop everything, let it be a blank slate and let's
- 11:54push forward. And I said that publicly and I
- 11:57got harassed for 48 hours. But it's true.
- 12:01Like if Secret Wars is something that changes, it's there's a
- 12:06huge reboot, small reboot, whatever it's needed.
- 12:09Like with Flash, it was needed and all I can think about that
- 12:15movie is how he runs. I can't think about anything
- 12:17else but the running. I I think about that and the
- 12:23fact that Barry Allen stalks Iris for the first half of the
- 12:27movie or something like that. I feel like that was a thing.
- 12:29If I'm misremembering that he constantly goes to the costume
- 12:32shop and he's been watching her for a while, I remember that.
- 12:34Yeah. Isn't that where the baby in the
- 12:36microwave thing? Yeah, yeah.
- 12:39I can't think of We watch. Your point of Secret Wars, I
- 12:43have had the head cannon and this is specifically because
- 12:46Kevin Feige has said this with interviews with Variety,
- 12:50deadlines, The Hollywood Reporter.
- 12:52I got the sources, I could link it.
- 12:53Trust me. I have a whole 20 page
- 12:55presentation about doomsday sitting in a document.
- 12:57Yes. It's true.
- 12:59Because I've been, I've been keeping track.
- 13:01Of pages. Because here's the thing, OK,
- 13:04I've been keeping track of because everyone's like oh, it
- 13:06doesn't work, it doesn't connect, nothing works.
- 13:09And I have a detailed document with articles and links of how
- 13:12we got here, the different things that could connect to
- 13:15Doomsday and just the leaks that have happened over the last week
- 13:18at which we'll get to. But real quick, my point with
- 13:21Secret Wars is that with Kevin Feige being like, I don't want
- 13:24to call it a reboot, but we're doing a reboot of some kind,
- 13:28tells me I don't think they're confident that Marvel fans are
- 13:32ready to let go of some of the characters they're probably
- 13:35going to kill off in Doomsday. That's how I view it.
- 13:38And I think it's necessary to bring in new faces.
- 13:40Like, for instance, I like Hugh Jackman, Wolverine, I'm I'm
- 13:44ready. More than ready.
- 13:46Get him out. Get him out.
- 13:48Bring X-23 in. It's never been done.
- 13:51Yeah, he can be Old Man Logan and something else.
- 13:55But like, I want something else. I want something new.
- 13:57The same thing happened eventually.
- 13:59I'm not ready just yet, but I'm getting there with Tom Holland
- 14:01and Spider Man I I've had my course with it.
- 14:04It's fun. He's been great.
- 14:06Give me two more movies. Get him out of here, bring him
- 14:08Miles Morales. Like, we need to get the ball
- 14:10rolling on introducing new iterations of characters.
- 14:13I'm sure Thor is eventually gonna get his own send off,
- 14:17which I don't think he's gonna die in Doomsday.
- 14:19That's just me. But my point is, is that like
- 14:22with DC fans, you tell them we're gonna reset this, we're
- 14:25gonna hit the reset button, we're gonna take a pause and do
- 14:27these Elseworld tales right. We're down.
- 14:30They're open to it. They're like, yeah, why not?
- 14:33Some were, some didn't know what reboot meant.
- 14:36So they're like, oh, so Henry Cavill's out.
- 14:39Is Gal Gadot gonna stay? And you're like, sweetheart,
- 14:43they're all done. They're all done.
- 14:45And they're like, well, what about Aquaman?
- 14:47You're like, oh, my poor summer child.
- 14:49You just want to wrap them in a blanket.
- 14:51You're like, we're going to learn a new word today.
- 14:53It's called reboot, then it's all.
- 14:56New and I fear for when Kevin Feige gets on that stage at San
- 15:00Diego Comic Con at whole age whether it's 2027 or 2028 my
- 15:04theory is 2028. I think they're gonna let us
- 15:07have doomsday and secret wars and have that period of them
- 15:10marketing it, them hyping us up, not saying anything about what's
- 15:14coming after here. He has well, here he.
- 15:16Has he said it's gonna be mutants?
- 15:19Well, yeah, but what I mean is like, we're not going to know
- 15:21the official projects. I mean, like I'm saying like, I
- 15:23think they're going to leave us in the darkness for a while of
- 15:26like, let's let them sit in the mystery because that's what it
- 15:28seems like they're kind of aiming for.
- 15:30We know we got Spider Man. We know we got Doomsday.
- 15:33We know we got Secret Wars. And then we know because Ryan
- 15:35Coogler admitted in front of a audience at some sort of event.
- 15:39I know I posted about it. I have all the sources.
- 15:41I'm on threads. If you want your links and your
- 15:43sources, I post them. But Ryan Coogler already said
- 15:45he's doing Black Panther 3. Go to Denzel, they all they did
- 15:49it, they all said it so but. Here's the thing, I don't think
- 15:51people are realizing the way he's talking.
- 15:53And I don't know if it's because of the success of Sinners, which
- 15:56fantastic movie, one of my favorite movies of the year.
- 15:58I think he's gonna walk away from Marvel after Black Panther
- 16:013. But that's just an opinion I
- 16:03have held for a while now because the way he sounds like
- 16:06and the way he's been, you know, slowly beginning to talk about
- 16:08it, it's kind of feels like they're kind of ready to leave
- 16:11the baton to someone else to pick up that storyline.
- 16:13That's how it sounds. Stupid if if the Black Panther
- 16:17story is done at 3, great. That's cool, that's awesome.
- 16:22What I want is Ryan Coogler just to stay to give us a Storm
- 16:26origin story. That's what I need.
- 16:29That would be peak. That's what I'm saying.
- 16:31It's that easy. It's just that simple.
- 16:33Like I don't ask much. I.
- 16:35Have the fear because with all the thing I know everything is
- 16:39changing with the Netflix deal and the Warner Brothers.
- 16:41I know that's all up in the air right now.
- 16:44But what if, what happens if Warner Brothers gives him a
- 16:47contract for you know, how they're doing at Paramount with
- 16:50all these different four picture deals, you know, one year deal,
- 16:532 year deals, whatever. What if Warner Brothers comes in
- 16:56and they're like Ryan, you know, Ryan Coogler, you did sinners
- 16:59took over the world. We loved it.
- 17:01You had fun with it. We want to give you a contract
- 17:03to come over to us. You think he's going to say no?
- 17:06I don't know, he surprised me with a lot of stuff because I
- 17:09didn't think he was going to come back for Black Panther 3.
- 17:13But then when he actually said it, I was like, OK, this is a
- 17:17ride or die feeling. That's what it feels like for me
- 17:20and him, that he, he is ride or die for the Black Panther
- 17:24franchise, the whole saga because of Chadwick Boseman, you
- 17:29know, Michael B Jordan, all that.
- 17:31So I guess wherever he does go, if it's not Storm, which would
- 17:35really fucking suck, you can be excited to see Michael B Jordan,
- 17:41which we all are. We all I think that's something
- 17:44that we all want to do, want to see.
- 17:46But like I wonder if he wants to do it because I don't think
- 17:48Michael B Jordan has ever openly like, you know, petitioned
- 17:51himself like you know how the actor from F1, I think it's dams
- 17:55in Idris. He's been petitioning himself
- 17:58very hard for. I want to be Black Panther.
- 18:00Like he's been saying it. He's over and do.
- 18:02It he'd do well. I just don't know if, you know,
- 18:06Michael B Jordan has done that. Like I, I, I don't know if he's
- 18:09been vocal too much about wanting to touch that area or if
- 18:12he sees. That I hope.
- 18:14I hope he doesn't because he was at Chadwick Boseman's star on
- 18:21the Hollywood Walk. I genuinely don't think he would
- 18:24get into his role because that wouldn't feel right.
- 18:27Yeah, and I respect that. If he totally just came out and
- 18:30was like, look, I see the fan cast now that, you know, the MCU
- 18:33has the soft reboot coming with Secret Wars and you know, Black
- 18:36Panther might be open, right? I would I would respect if he
- 18:40was just like, I don't want to touch that.
- 18:41I view that as Chadwick's thing. And Chadwick is, you know, my
- 18:43brother and I love him to death. And that's something that I feel
- 18:46like with us and the movie we did and our dynamic and the
- 18:50moment we had together because remember, Black Panther was one
- 18:54of the most iconic moments in comic book history.
- 18:56Like everyone paused the world. It was you heard all the stars
- 19:01every day for like a year. Like I have a respect if he was
- 19:04just straight up like, I don't want to touch that.
- 19:06That is sacred ground to me. And the same thing happens when
- 19:09maybe when they decide, like we want this to be the final thing.
- 19:12Like what if that cast comes together and goes, we want this
- 19:15to be the final thing for Sheree and these characters, but we
- 19:19want to leave the door open for Secret Wars.
- 19:21So then they could bring in a new Black Panther.
- 19:23Maybe that's why Marvel has been waiting.
- 19:26That could be it. At this point, like with the
- 19:29leaks and everything, it's like, I don't know what Marvel's been
- 19:32doing. I'm the biggest Marvel fan.
- 19:35Of course I do. I am the biggest Marvel fan.
- 19:39But Kevin, if you're listening, I could fix this.
- 19:43I could do so much better than whatever your team is doing
- 19:46because you guys what? OK, let's just get into the
- 19:49leaks. So Monday the world is just
- 19:54minding their own business. And then we are hit with The
- 19:59Avengers doomsday trailer. The first one has leaked.
- 20:02And you and I were we're not those people that were like, oh,
- 20:07I'm going to wait. Oh, no, that's disrespectful.
- 20:10We were so on it. Yeah.
- 20:12And The thing is, I was very like, I'm not going to
- 20:15verbalize. A lot of people got mad at me
- 20:16for this. I don't know why, but like I
- 20:18respect that there are people who follow me both to either
- 20:21engage with the things I say or because they just like that I
- 20:24post news. So I was keeping it obscure out
- 20:27of respect of like just so y'all know, the first Avengers
- 20:30doomsday trailer leaked. It's out there in the wild.
- 20:33I've seen it. I'm telling you it's real.
- 20:35I know it's real from all the research I've done.
- 20:37And then I got hate because everyone was like why are you
- 20:39obscure posting? Why don't?
- 20:40You just tell us they said thanks for the thanks for the
- 20:43non news. And it's like, yeah, dude.
- 20:45And I'm like, guys, we first of all it leaked.
- 20:48If I post it, I could get in trouble.
- 20:51Like I could have legal repercussions for that.
- 20:53Or your accounts would I have seen two different accounts that
- 20:58are come gone completely because they posted them Then on
- 21:02Facebook's a a big page. I follow their admin of the
- 21:06page. He's he can't even get back into
- 21:09the page itself because he did it.
- 21:11Someone else got 30 days. Like stop reposting, stop
- 21:16posting the leaks. It's Disney, they will mess you
- 21:19up. I got banned three days for
- 21:21accidentally posting something that was leaked.
- 21:24And I didn't know. It was like it wasn't from
- 21:25Disney. It was a different company.
- 21:26I'm gonna keep it upstairs. I will text you it.
- 21:28Don't worry. I'll text you right after.
- 21:30I'll remember. You're going to laugh at it
- 21:31because it's the stupidest thing in the world.
- 21:33But I got a three day ban for it.
- 21:35So when I saw The Avengers doomsday leaks, I was like, I'm
- 21:38gonna just let people know. I'm gonna do my job.
- 21:41I'm gonna put an image of the doomsday logo and just say, hey,
- 21:44it's out there. Because I also respect that some
- 21:46people are, you know, wasting 3 hours of their life by going to
- 21:49the theater to see Avatar Fire and Ash.
- 21:50And they're going to get surprised by that.
- 21:53So I didn't want to ruin that. But then it was like wildfire.
- 21:56You couldn't escape it. It was everywhere.
- 21:58No matter where you open, whether it was TikTok,
- 22:00Instagram, X Threads, you name it, it was there, right?
- 22:04And at first I'm like, OK, I get what they're going for.
- 22:09I get it. And then the next one leaked,
- 22:12and the next one, it had me like a crazy person because I was
- 22:15with my friends. I'm like, what is he saying?
- 22:18Chris Hemworth, your accent, It's so thick that I can't tell
- 22:22half of what you're saying, right?
- 22:24And then another thing leaked because after it was, you know,
- 22:28Steve Rogers returns, Thor returns.
- 22:30Then it's like the third one is rumored to be Doctor Doom.
- 22:33We don't know if that's confirmed yet, but that's like
- 22:35the main rumor right now. And I'm like, oh, so we're doing
- 22:39once a week. I'm doing all.
- 22:42These different trailers, we're trying to, I get what they're
- 22:45going for, OK? I've said this multiple times
- 22:47and people don't agree with me here.
- 22:49Whatever they're doing is working, right?
- 22:52From a fundamental standpoint, we have to agree it is working
- 22:55because we're talking about it. We're not the only people
- 22:57talking about it on social media.
- 22:59This is not the only podcast that's covering the news.
- 23:01I'm like, Oh my God, Marvel Leagues casual people are
- 23:04talking about it and complaining like, oh, Steve Rogers is back,
- 23:06whatever. Everyone is talking about it,
- 23:08which is the point, right? So they won in that end, but
- 23:12there's better ways to have done what they're doing.
- 23:15Look, I know you guys wanted to get attention to Avatar, but all
- 23:20yes, we're all talking about it and I wouldn't be talking about
- 23:23it either if this wasn't this case.
- 23:26But we're not saying nice things, guys.
- 23:28I know no bad publicity is still good publicity, but like, I
- 23:33don't think Disney gets it. This felt so cheap.
- 23:37This made me hate Avatar. I haven't seen the movie, but
- 23:40doing this like dangling, dangling a trailer that we're
- 23:45not going to see anything for the next year.
- 23:47That feels cheap. I don't like it and I'm not
- 23:49seeing Avatar because I saw the 1st 2:00 and they were boring.
- 23:52I don't care who knows it. Look, and here's the thing, OK,
- 23:57My thing is I understand the end goal.
- 23:59Besides getting people talking, it's going to the casual
- 24:02audience and going look, that thing you like Steve Rogers, the
- 24:06nostalgia, you guys showed us that you liked it with Spider
- 24:09Man and No Way Home, they crossed a billion dollars.
- 24:11Just showed us that you liked it with Deadpool, The Wolverine,
- 24:13that crossed a billion dollars. Guess what?
- 24:15The next major Avengers movie, it's also going to have the
- 24:18classic people you know and love.
- 24:20Let's get back on the MCU train. That's the end goal, right?
- 24:24Yeah. But my question is, out of all
- 24:27of this, why not just do another stream unannounced?
- 24:31Yeah, why not do the Doomsday Clock?
- 24:33The thing is like, I know people are like, no one's got time for
- 24:36that. No one did.
- 24:37No one wants to see that. I do.
- 24:38And also the people who you're still talking about it.
- 24:42You still know every person that was revealed during that 5 hour
- 24:46stream. You want to shit talk and say it
- 24:49was too long, it was too stupid, it was boring, but you still
- 24:52know everything about it. You kept up with five hours.
- 24:56So don't say it wasn't successful because it very much
- 24:59was. That's why that and the energy
- 25:01of that feels so, so different than the energy of this, which
- 25:06makes me think this was from the heads of DC.
- 25:09This is DC saying we need the help.
- 25:12Disney. Yeah, I'm tired, guys.
- 25:14I mean, Disney, the heads of Disney, them saying we need help
- 25:19with Avatar, which makes me think Avatar's going to blow.
- 25:23So I guess they can't, you know? You said that it was successful
- 25:28right now, would you the stream? Yeah, it was.
- 25:32Yeah, would you believe me if I told you I had actual statistics
- 25:34pulled up right next to me about the stream with the numbers?
- 25:37Before we got on this episode today, no, I wouldn't have.
- 25:41But after hearing about your 20 pages of doomsday, yeah, yeah, I
- 25:44do. Yeah, so here we go.
- 25:46Live stream had ominous sounds throughout the camera, with
- 25:48focus on each cast member's chair until 15 minutes went by.
- 25:51Every 15 minutes, a new cast member was announced.
- 25:54It pulled in more than 275,000,000 digital views and
- 26:013.1 million social mentions. That number is five times the
- 26:06social volume of Deadpool and Wolverine.
- 26:09When its trailer premiered at the Super Bowl, which is like
- 26:11the biggest commercial time ever.
- 26:14Hour by hour, the audience grew throughout each platform it was
- 26:19on and it was everywhere. So Instagram, Twitter, you name
- 26:22it, YouTube, Twitch, they had audiences growing every single
- 26:26hour. The stunt yielded over 55
- 26:29distinct trending terms on Twitter slash X throughout the
- 26:33day, with hashtag Avengers Doomsday holding the number one
- 26:36trending spot on Twitter for over 7 hours.
- 26:41And after 24 hours, that video was #2 trending on YouTube.
- 26:47What was number one? I have no.
- 26:48Idea. What could that possibly be?
- 26:51I have no idea. Look, Oh, I bet you it's AI.
- 26:53Bet you it's a political thing. I bet you maybe.
- 26:56But see, it was successful, even if you didn't like it, it was
- 27:01successful. It was different.
- 27:02But like this promo, like, come on, Disney could have thought of
- 27:07something. You could have released the
- 27:09Spider Man trailer Make Beat It Theater exclusive.
- 27:12That that would have worked actually far more I think.
- 27:15It would because why does why does anyone care to go see a 10
- 27:18second trailer 4 times in a month?
- 27:22All different for all different for a movie in a year.
- 27:27These trailers, the movie might change.
- 27:29These trailers might mean nothing.
- 27:32We know they're doing reshoots early next year.
- 27:34Yeah. They wrap filming for this year,
- 27:36but they're going back to do reshoots again.
- 27:38Yeah, exactly. So it's like this was a stupid
- 27:41idea. And my thing is right, why not?
- 27:46I like the Doomsday clock. I think the Doomsday Clock is
- 27:49very fantastic in terms of it being ominous.
- 27:52It like, you know, generating a sense of concern from a viewer
- 27:55perspective like us as fans are thinking, what is Doom planning?
- 27:58Like, what could he possibly be doing?
- 28:00This seems threatening for a far more threatening.
- 28:03They're all probably willing to admit why not just one day go
- 28:07live. Every platform, a doomsday
- 28:08clock, we hear ominous sounds. We hear you're doom walking in
- 28:12the background. We hear, you know, tinkering
- 28:14sounds of different electric things, almost like as if it's
- 28:17Tony Stark building his Sue with a box of scraps, right?
- 28:21And then every 15 minutes, new cast member, you've revealed the
- 28:24rest of the cast. I don't think they should reveal
- 28:27the rest of the cast. I don't think they should
- 28:29because either what, like something else is going to get
- 28:32leaked. So keep whatever you can a
- 28:34secret. But the ominous thing I think
- 28:38would knock it out of the park. Like if you just randomly put
- 28:42this doomsday clock somewhere and countdown to just what like
- 28:45what you said, random noises in the background drop a hint
- 28:49somewhere. You hear a doom walking.
- 28:53You hear the metal clanking of him wearing the suit.
- 28:55Like if you just hear him sigh, that would be people's
- 28:59ringtones. That's all you need for doomsday
- 29:02is that small, small thing, not something huge.
- 29:04Like Chris Evans is back and he might be Captain America, but he
- 29:08definitely has a baby. Also, I cannot even explain to
- 29:12you how hard. I hope that's not his baby, and
- 29:14I hope it's Sharon Carter, because that would be weird.
- 29:17I think it is his baby. I have a whole theory about
- 29:19this. Me and my friends, we have been
- 29:21theorizing about this together. We have a whole thing.
- 29:23But my thing is, before we get to that, like with that stream,
- 29:28right, even if you don't announce the rest of the cast
- 29:30and we just see and hear, you know, every hour a sound effect
- 29:34on, you know, show that it's an hour.
- 29:36We hear ticking sounds for every minute, right?
- 29:39We hear Doom making sound effects and walking.
- 29:41And then let's say they did it on Christmas Eve when everyone's
- 29:45home for the holidays, right? You have the whole world at the
- 29:47palm of your hands at that point, everyone's home.
- 29:50What do they review at the end? A first look at Doom, that be
- 29:54the first thing we see him up close because he grabs the
- 29:57camera or it glitches and it shows us 90 seconds of just him,
- 30:01even if he's sitting in the chair and he says nothing to us.
- 30:04Honestly if you have him just like blacked out, like as a
- 30:08shadow of him sitting in his throne, oh dude, money.
- 30:13Exactly. That's more effective to get
- 30:15people back on the MCU train than going Steve Rogers will
- 30:19return, Chris Hemser will return, whoever else will return
- 30:23like. Like, we don't care, we're going
- 30:25to see the movie anyways. It's going to.
- 30:27Yeah, a lot of people. That's one thing I've been
- 30:29seeing recently. Today.
- 30:30I agree with the sentiment that people are being a tad dramatic
- 30:33because this movie is going to gross a billion dollars.
- 30:35Yeah, there's almost no way. That's it's hitting the Billy
- 30:38club. No, there's no wait.
- 30:39Won't. Like this is going to be a movie
- 30:41that people are going to see multiple times.
- 30:43The ticket sites are going to go down as we try to get tickets to
- 30:46see it opening night. Like this is going to be an
- 30:48event on a level in which it's probably going to overcome the
- 30:52hype for end Game I think. Oh, just wait till they give us
- 30:56a Doom popcorn bucket and it's just a mask.
- 30:59And it's just popcorn falling out of the eye sockets in the
- 31:01mouth. If it is that is I got like kind
- 31:07of flush there I want it. There you go.
- 31:10But like if they did thing promos that were just centered
- 31:14around Doom, like Imagine wasn't even about the movie, they just
- 31:19dropped a few laws of Latveria. Like something like just
- 31:25anything that is Doom related 'cause you they did not have the
- 31:29time to build up Doom because of Jonathan Majors.
- 31:33This wasn't the original plan, so why wouldn't you spend this
- 31:37year getting the audience familiar with Doom?
- 31:40Why wouldn't you do that for the casual watchers who not everyone
- 31:44reads the comics and you don't have to?
- 31:46You really don't but think how many people are like Doom.
- 31:50You mean the guy from the Fantastic Four movies in the
- 31:52early 2000s? He wasn't nothing.
- 31:55See, they should be centering around Doom.
- 31:57Marvel, we're right here. And, and The thing is, like with
- 32:01Marvel specifically, I think they failed to get people to
- 32:04read comics because I don't know if you noticed the marketing for
- 32:06DC, they market DC compact comics.
- 32:09So much as they should such. A huge win for them that has
- 32:14created more fans than any other sort of idea.
- 32:17And Marvel has tried to copy it. But it's 1499 versus 999, and
- 32:22people like the compact comic fit versus like the format of it
- 32:26being like this big, probably versus it being a regular trade
- 32:30paperback. And more importantly, DC isn't
- 32:33afraid. And this is one thing that has
- 32:34always frustrated me about Marvel.
- 32:37I hate that Marvel doesn't tell people at the end of the
- 32:39trailer, read these comics, even if it's not inspiring the movie
- 32:44directly. You know how powerful it would
- 32:46have been if they were just like, read this Fantastic Four
- 32:48comic? They did read this comic.
- 32:50They did they give them up for free.
- 32:53But then why did nobody talk about it?
- 32:55It did. It was like months and months
- 32:57before it was a picture of Herbie.
- 32:59And then there was the. What is it called the?
- 33:03QR code. Yeah, there was AQR code that
- 33:05took you to read these comics for free, but they did not
- 33:08promote that whatsoever. They just put it out and left it
- 33:11there. People didn't notice the No one
- 33:14noticed the QR code because it was hidden.
- 33:16No one knew it was free comics and even in the movie they at
- 33:19least gave a little bit to like, oh, this is for Jack Kirby, who,
- 33:24you know, created them. This is from Marvel Comics.
- 33:26It's like it's that easy. Y'all didn't just come from
- 33:29nowhere. You have the handbook, you have
- 33:32the cheat codes, you have it all right there in your books.
- 33:35Pay, pay love to them. I mean, it didn't just come out
- 33:39of nowhere. It's crazy to me because I do
- 33:41like that about DC, that they do go out of their way like James
- 33:46Gunn posting. Shop local at local comic
- 33:49stores. Buy this one.
- 33:50Buy that one. Here's a picture of Millie
- 33:52reading The Woman of Tomorrow. Like it's easy, simple things to
- 33:58do. It's.
- 33:59And even at the end of the trailer, this comic is inspiring
- 34:02this movie. Super girl, woman of tomorrow,
- 34:04here's a picture, go buy it. Like that is so effective.
- 34:08James Gunn tomorrow could post a picture of him reading any comic
- 34:12book. Even if it's nothing that we
- 34:13know about, it could be anything, right?
- 34:16That comic gonna skyrocket in sales immediately because
- 34:19everyone's going to think there's ADC project or a
- 34:22character or storyline from that comic is going to show up
- 34:25somewhere down the line. Look at Superman.
- 34:28Superman. It was hard to find a copy of
- 34:30All Star Superman. It was hard to find a copy of
- 34:32Superman Birthright Superman for all seasons.
- 34:36Like Superman comics were selling out everywhere because
- 34:40Superman was such a moment and they were pushing it of like go
- 34:43read Superman comics. Why doesn't Marvel do that?
- 34:47What kills me is that RDJ started to do that.
- 34:52He did it with Doom. He did it.
- 34:54Yeah, he did. Treasury, right?
- 34:57What was it at the comic Doom Treasury edition?
- 35:00I remember the. Comic it was Doom number one
- 35:01yeah I believe I've read so many doom comics lately bro I don't
- 35:07know, but I I. Just thought it was in a
- 35:09suitcase. I know that I remember the.
- 35:11Video. I know that he did it.
- 35:12He did it once or twice and he said Doom Workstation
- 35:17Essentials. So he is essentially telling you
- 35:20read this comic and that comic was damn near impossible for
- 35:25anyone to get in person. You could see, you could just
- 35:28feel everyone going on Marvel Unlimited and checking it out.
- 35:32Two days later, everyone is a Doom professional.
- 35:36Everyone knows everything and it's like it's you just have to
- 35:40do that. It's so easy, but for so long
- 35:42these franchises like Fox, they were not allowed to read the
- 35:48comics. They Psylocke, she was not
- 35:52allowed to read the comics about her character.
- 35:53She snuck them on to the set. And if you'll notice, she was
- 35:57the most comic accurate look of them all.
- 35:59And she had input on her costume because she read the comics.
- 36:03But they said before, we don't want them to read it because
- 36:06they we don't want them to already have the idea of the
- 36:08character in their head because we want them to make it their
- 36:10own. And it's like, I didn't come
- 36:12here to see Olivia Munn make Psylocke her own.
- 36:15I came. We can't.
- 36:16Yeah, exactly. And I'm pretty sure that I think
- 36:19Isabella Merced said this in an interview.
- 36:21I think DC Studios is giving all the actors access to DC
- 36:25Unlimited, not DC Unlimited, DC Universe Infinite.
- 36:28I think she was the one who mentioned it because she was
- 36:30talking about how like she was reading like comics with Hot
- 36:32Girl and Green Lantern and how she wants to see that dynamic on
- 36:36the big screen. So like the fact they do that is
- 36:39great, but like I feel like what a character like Doom as you
- 36:42mentioned, no one knows that he's the big bat like the
- 36:45casual. Audience.
- 36:46I mean, yeah, they just saw a hood of guy.
- 36:48Exactly. So you have to do the work of
- 36:51helping them understand whether it's putting a spotlight on old
- 36:55episodes in old cartoons focused on Doom, highlighting Doom
- 37:00comics, selling Doom figures. Like, you have to make it a
- 37:03moment so that the day he comes next year is not, Oh my God,
- 37:08who's Doom? Because remember Thanos, even
- 37:11though he wasn't perfectly built up, by the time we got to see
- 37:14him, people were like excited and they knew who he was.
- 37:18They knew him by name. We were saying his quotes.
- 37:21We still use his quotes. He was right, exactly right.
- 37:26So like with Doom, I just don't see this.
- 37:29And this is my own opinion. I don't see this being a one and
- 37:31done. I think a lot of people are
- 37:33viewing this as a one and done scenario where they bring up in,
- 37:36they get everybody back in, they wipe the slate clean, Secret
- 37:39Warriors reboots it and then we move forward.
- 37:41And I just don't think that's the case.
- 37:44No, I don't either. I think this is a variant of
- 37:46Doom, but I think we're going to get the real Doom much later.
- 37:51But this one, it's like, I'm sorry, Marvel, you guys know
- 37:55Doom is not one to do half assed.
- 37:58You cannot make it lackluster. Doom is the definition of power
- 38:03to the readers, to the audience, to the the characters he's with,
- 38:07he is powerful. You need to be building this up
- 38:10right now because if people go to which one is it Doomsday,
- 38:16people go to Doomsday and say it was mid.
- 38:19No movie with Doom should be mid.
- 38:21That's not you guys messed up somewhere along the way.
- 38:26And I think right now is the IT is like the perfect time just to
- 38:30reel it back and figure out what you're doing because Doom needs
- 38:33to be known about. You cannot go into this movie
- 38:35for people to say wasn't he Iron Man?
- 38:38Who's Iron Man playing He The people have to know he's Doom.
- 38:42I agree. And The thing is I feel like
- 38:46they're doing a decent job at like getting people in and
- 38:49getting people along for this right?
- 38:50Because no matter what, we're all talking about it.
- 38:52Even the most casual people are talking about this news and the
- 38:55league trailers and images and this that, whatever.
- 38:57But when it comes to the movie itself, the ramp up other
- 39:01marketing needs to be a lot more.
- 39:04I don't want to say clear because I am a fan of not
- 39:06knowing everything. I'll be honest with you, it's a
- 39:09rare moment for the MCU fan base to not know every plot point.
- 39:12Like we deal with Ant Man in the wash.
- 39:14I don't know if you know about that.
- 39:15Yeah, word for word, the whole script.
- 39:18Yeah, Spider Man, No Way Home was the worst kept secret of all
- 39:22time, right? Like everything about that
- 39:25leaked and we thought it was fake, but it was leaked.
- 39:28We knew the plot point by beat by beat before it came.
- 39:31Out and then they put both all three spider Man's in the
- 39:33trailer and they do that so they're able to go to the
- 39:37premiere they did that with X232.
- 39:40She was supposed to be a secret and they, Kevin Feige said,
- 39:43well, she wanted to go the premiere, so we put her in the
- 39:45trailer and it's like, oh, I didn't.
- 39:48No, she was CEO Marvel. That's so crazy.
- 39:51Wow. Who knew?
- 39:53It's just I, I, I am excited because I like that we don't
- 39:56know anything. And I like that they're making
- 39:59this very ominous. I'm a big fan of that.
- 40:02I like, that's why I really like the Doomsday Clock.
- 40:04And I think it would be more effective if they had used it.
- 40:07Of us just waking up one day and the Marvel goes live and it's
- 40:10just like, what's that ticking sound?
- 40:12And then it's slowly revealed to be a clock with The Avengers
- 40:15logo and everything. That would have been a really
- 40:17cool moment. But it's just with these
- 40:19trailers specifically, I understand they're not for us,
- 40:21the people who are hardcore enthusiasts.
- 40:23But the problem that they're going to struggle to communicate
- 40:27until we get a teaser trailer is why is Steve Rogers coming back?
- 40:33What, what, why are these characters coming back?
- 40:35What is the reasoning? Because to a lot of people, it's
- 40:39nostalgia Bay, right? Like a lot of people are going
- 40:41to run to, this is Gambit, Channing Tatum, Gambit finally
- 40:46happening. This is Tobey Maguire and all
- 40:48the Spider Man interacting finally happening, right?
- 40:51That's their mindset. And I get it because they're not
- 40:54saying anything. It's just a 22nd clip of him
- 40:57riding a bike and then it cutting to him holding a baby.
- 41:00And then Steve Rogers will return and you're not saying
- 41:02anything. So you're just showing them like
- 41:04we're going for the nostalgia again.
- 41:06And you have to communicate why Steve Rogers is coming back.
- 41:10And until we know the why, I feel like a lot of people are
- 41:14going to be against doomsday abet saying Marvel's creatively
- 41:17bank robbed. Marvel has, you know, run out of
- 41:20all ideas. Marvel isn't, you know, on their
- 41:22a game. What are they cooking?
- 41:24Who let them cook? I don't understand the story
- 41:27because they're not connecting. What I feel is a bit obvious
- 41:31with Doomsday, which is that it's a direct sequel to End
- 41:33Game, but it's the only way you can bring back Steve Rogers.
- 41:36That is, it's obvious, right? They're playing end game again
- 41:40in the theaters in September, which I'm going to see.
- 41:43I'm seeing that in theaters again.
- 41:44Everybody is that's going to sell out.
- 41:46You know why? Because everyone's going to
- 41:48assume Our first look at the story for Doomsday will be the
- 41:52post credit scene for that screening.
- 41:55Which I think so. I think it's it better be this
- 41:57Doomsday clock. If it's not, we don't put
- 42:01anything there. Leave it there.
- 42:03Or it's no, I think it's going to be the first reveal not of
- 42:05Doom, but like I think it'll be the first trailer that would be
- 42:08really cool full. Trailer.
- 42:10You mean can? You Yeah.
- 42:11Can you imagine going to the end game screening and that's when
- 42:13we get the full trailer and that's when we find out
- 42:15everything about the story. And that I'm in for, you know,
- 42:18and then just give it to me. That's the mid credit scene and
- 42:20then the post credit scene is the clock counting down to the
- 42:24days left. That's how you generate hype.
- 42:26That's how you actually get everybody excited.
- 42:28You're like, Oh my God, you don't milk it.
- 42:31And you don't, you know, do all these ominous things that don't
- 42:33really get people on board. You go straight to the fans who
- 42:36are buying the tickets because if anyone thinks the end game
- 42:39tickets are not going to be sold out in 24 hours or even 48
- 42:42hours, you're just wrong. Like that's going to sell out
- 42:46immediately one. 100% Well, it's not even even if you have no
- 42:50hype for doomsday, you cannot deny the electricity that was in
- 42:55the theater during end game when that first portal opened, when
- 43:00you heard on your left, when you saw Spider Man swinging yeah
- 43:03just. Got chills, you say?
- 43:04On your left. When you saw Spider Man swinging
- 43:08in from something, I don't know what his webs were connected to,
- 43:11but he swung in, it doesn't matter.
- 43:13We don't we. Don't ask that we don't have.
- 43:15To matter, yeah, but there was a building.
- 43:18In another dimension, it was just really far off and we
- 43:20couldn't see it. Well, that was the first time I
- 43:21was ever in a theater that people started screaming and
- 43:24cheering. And I was so pregnant at the
- 43:26time. I could not get out of my chair.
- 43:29My husband had to like pull me up, 'cause like, I was so
- 43:32pregnant. And I was just like standing up
- 43:35screaming. I'm like, I just sat down.
- 43:38I was like, that's all I can do. But it was like it really, those
- 43:42are the moments you feel lucky to be in the fandom cause all of
- 43:45us are here vibing. All of us are just hyped up,
- 43:49happy, just wonderfully happy. It's, it's kind of like the
- 43:53opposite of thing, but kind of the same About when Chad
- 43:56Chadwick Boseman died and you went to see Black Panther two in
- 43:59the theater. I I was.
- 44:03Like he got I I swore my friends I'm like he had to have gotten
- 44:06had this is not true. And then all the articles and
- 44:08all the people start posting and my day, not even my day, my
- 44:11months was ruined. I was just like, devastated.
- 44:16Because there was so much speculation for so long that he
- 44:20was on drugs. He hated the Black Panther
- 44:22thing. He there was so much stuff said
- 44:25about him and he was the most unproblematic person, which goes
- 44:28to show shut the fuck up. Exactly, Yeah.
- 44:33And turns out he was dying, and he did end game.
- 44:37And he didn't tell anybody. It was all It was one of those
- 44:40things that when the moment happened, it was revealed.
- 44:42Even people at Marvel found out at that moment 'cause they
- 44:45weren't aware of what was going on.
- 44:46Some did know, like the other actors with him, they knew
- 44:51'cause you can see videos of them kind of like him falling
- 44:55asleep during the promo tour and they're like, hey, you OK, Doing
- 44:59OK? You need anything like they
- 45:00knew, but I think some people didn't know to the extent I
- 45:06think he was like, I'm getting treatment, I'm OK.
- 45:08But he did have to be medically cleared to do the stunts and do
- 45:13all of that and end game. So they had to have known
- 45:15something. But like, when he died, RIP.
- 45:20And we went into Black Panther 2 and you know, the Marvel promo
- 45:25comes and it is dead silent. There is no music, there is no
- 45:29nothing. And the entire theater is silent
- 45:32too. It's one of those times where
- 45:33you're like, I do feel lucky that I don't have to go through
- 45:36this alone because we didn't know him.
- 45:38We didn't know anything about him, but we loved.
- 45:40No, but the moment he gave us as a community and as a fan base
- 45:44was just so pivotal. That type of moment cannot be
- 45:48replicated against today. I stand by that opinion.
- 45:51I really don't think so, unless it's X-Men or something of that
- 45:56nature. But even that I don't think will
- 45:58match the like obsession. Because remember, Black Panther
- 46:03came out and people are cosplaying.
- 46:04People were doing the Wakanda Forever sign.
- 46:06People were screaming, especially after end game Yi
- 46:09Bombay, everyone was screaming that.
- 46:11Like it was one of those things where people really connected
- 46:14with the Wakandan culture, just like they connected to that Tao
- 46:17Khan after Wakanda Forever. That was a whole thing.
- 46:20I remember all the memes of being like you're watching Black
- 46:23Panther with your friends, but you're Hispanic so you got to do
- 46:25the thing. So I remember that like, it's
- 46:28just, I don't know if that type of thing will happen again,
- 46:32which is why I'm so happy that we got that moment.
- 46:37I think they could replicate it with Doom, but I don't think
- 46:40they could replicate it with Robert Downey Junior's Doom.
- 46:42I don't think that it'll ever achieve what it should have if
- 46:45it was someone else. But here's here's where I stand
- 46:49with RDJ. Doctor Doom, I am not against
- 46:53it. I know a lot of people are
- 46:54strongly against it and I get the number one reason.
- 46:56I understand that people want a Romania actor.
- 47:00I believe that's the correct culture.
- 47:01Romani. Romani, Romani to be playing
- 47:05Doctor Doom completely get it. But I think what they're going
- 47:08for here is something that they have to do RDJ for this, because
- 47:13the only way this works, and this comes back to a theory a
- 47:16lot of my friends and I have, we did a whole document together
- 47:20trying to figure this out and shout out to them, right?
- 47:23We ultimately kind of agreed that what's going to happen is
- 47:27the baby is going to be the reason why Doctor Doom comes
- 47:30into play. I hope not, because we literally
- 47:34just did that. Like we just did that.
- 47:38I hope it's not that. I hope it's, I hope it's a
- 47:42variant situation and the look of RDJ as the look of Tony Stark
- 47:48as Doom. I hope it shakes all of The
- 47:50Avengers to the core. I hope we get a Mr. Stark from
- 47:55Tom Holland. I hope Pepper's like Tony.
- 47:59I hope all of that. I hope they I want to hear
- 48:02unanimously every single heartbreak at the same time.
- 48:05I. Do too.
- 48:07But I think, I think the whole story begins with and you know,
- 48:10time travel in MCU, it's a very, you know, picky thing because
- 48:14every director has said different things about how time
- 48:16travel works. And you know, we got one
- 48:18explanation here, 1 explanation there.
- 48:19Whatever, right? My theory along with my friends,
- 48:22shout out to them again. We all came to an agreement
- 48:25after way too much. Who are these friends?
- 48:27Because like the names of mine. I should.
- 48:32One of them is always on threads.
- 48:33Right now the name is the Ray of Water.
- 48:35Her name's Leia. Shout out to her, yeah.
- 48:38Another friend, she was on Threads, her name was Angels
- 48:40Films, but her name is Ty. Shout out to her, right?
- 48:43We've been bickering a lot about time travel and who's how does
- 48:47it work this side whatever. And the unanimous thing that we
- 48:49could all foundationally agree upon, which is not a lot to be
- 48:53honest with you, is we think with the way time travel works,
- 48:57Steve Rogers having a kid made himself a variant.
- 49:01Are you good? Sorry I hiccuped and it like it
- 49:04like came from my chest it hurts so bad I'm just making.
- 49:07Sure, I'm just making. Sure, when I drink too much
- 49:10water I hiccup and I was like trying to like pace myself, but
- 49:12I get really thirsty when I'm recording.
- 49:14It's OK. No, don't worry.
- 49:15I'm just making sure. But but our theory right is
- 49:19Steve Rogers has the baby with Peggy that creates and turns
- 49:23himself into a variant, which ruins the timeline because he's
- 49:27not supposed to be a variant. He's supposed to just go back to
- 49:29the past and live his life until when he becomes an old man
- 49:32because you know how in end game he's an old man.
- 49:35So we think old man Rogers and Steve Rogers, who becomes a
- 49:38variant, has the baby are two different people and that leads
- 49:42to Doctor Doom. I don't know how we haven't
- 49:43figured this part out. Doctor Doom figuring out that
- 49:45someone's out of time because you know how everyone is saying
- 49:48like, oh, it's going to be based on Avengers, time runs out.
- 49:51We think the people that are out of time are all children.
- 49:56We think it's that would explain because now this is where
- 49:59foundationally it kind of supports it here.
- 50:01We think Steve Rogers kid is going to be one of them.
- 50:05We think America Chavez is going to be one of them because
- 50:07remember, she's a one of one. She has the power to punch
- 50:09through the timelines whenever she wants.
- 50:11She has no variance. He's going to want her to be
- 50:13able to travel to all the different Earths, right?
- 50:16That's why he would go to Franklin at the end of of
- 50:19Fantastic Four. That's why there's a big
- 50:21emphasis with the Doomsday teaser trailer for Steve Rogers
- 50:24with his baby and the Thor one with him praying to come back to
- 50:28his daughter. Love God.
- 50:30Why they have to bring that little bastard in?
- 50:33But like, we think the people he's trying to collect and use
- 50:37to do whatever it is he wants to do are the children.
- 50:39Those are the people who are out of time.
- 50:41And another example is another, I don't know if This Is Us being
- 50:45too technical with the theory, but we think Billy Chaplin,
- 50:49Billy Maximoff, the Wiccan, we think he's technically a.
- 50:52Child Billy Caplin. Caplin, we think he's a child of
- 50:56a time because he was a ghost that went into another person's
- 50:59body right when they died. Yeah.
- 51:02So he's not supposed to technically be on.
- 51:05He's not. He's not supposed to be alive.
- 51:07Wanda made him with chaos magic, which she was not supposed to
- 51:10have. And that's going to probably
- 51:12come into play. So we think this is going to
- 51:14have to do of a direct sequel. The consequences of all these
- 51:17different children and all these different children serve a
- 51:19different purpose, which is why he's going from Earth to Earth
- 51:22and probably going to do the thing where he destroys the
- 51:24timeline, makes it collapse on itself, create battle worlds,
- 51:27etcetera. That's our leading theory of
- 51:30just too much victory. It could learn, it could lean to
- 51:33a Young Avengers slash champion situation with any of the kids
- 51:37that are leftover. But my question is, how do we
- 51:39know this is the same Steve? He had a he had a shield.
- 51:46That's the thing we're talking about a time.
- 51:48No, it wasn't a shield. It was.
- 51:49His suit wasn't. It Yeah, it was his shield.
- 51:53Put a shield down. No, he put the suit down on the
- 51:56motorcycle. The.
- 51:56Fuck is he doing with a suit on the motorcycle?
- 51:59Probably still being Captain America for all we know.
- 52:03That's pretty. You know, I don't.
- 52:05I haven't even seen it fully. I've just seen what the Internet
- 52:08showed me. I don't even know why I'm
- 52:09arguing. I.
- 52:10I think he wears, he probably wears it whatever as a
- 52:13protective thing for him and Peggy or whatever.
- 52:15But that's our theory. He has the baby that turns him
- 52:17into a variant when he's not supposed to be a variant.
- 52:20But you know, he doesn't know about the variant stuff because
- 52:22it wasn't explained into now I'm dying after with Loki because
- 52:28remember, miss minutes comes in and then she's like, this is the
- 52:31timeline. It's a sacred timeline.
- 52:32The time keepers held it together and then we created the
- 52:35TVA so they could prune any timeline that branched off.
- 52:39And then Loki comes in, he changes it because remember,
- 52:42that's the whole point of Loki city at Loki sitting at the end
- 52:44of time. So he could be the one to watch
- 52:46over all the timelines because he was like, no, let's not stop
- 52:49pruning things. Let's just make sure they could
- 52:52coexist, but we're probably going to find out that pruning
- 52:55things is probably necessary for the sake of timeline to exist
- 52:57normally, and that's going to be the thing that probably creates
- 53:00Doctor Doom. The question I still have is
- 53:03where does the variance, the RDJ factor, the Tony Stark factor
- 53:07come into play? So I don't think you cast Robert
- 53:10Downey Junior as Doctor Doom unless you're showing the face
- 53:13on some level. His face will be shown.
- 53:16There's no way it. But that's the thing, it's like
- 53:19you guys going to just pick someone else.
- 53:22He didn't have to do this. His face has to be shown for the
- 53:25emotional gut punch. But they could have picked
- 53:28someone for Doom. I always thought Jamie from Game
- 53:34of Thrones would have made a phenomenal Doom.
- 53:36I've never watched Game of Thrones.
- 53:38OK, OK, so listeners, y'all know what I mean?
- 53:42Like that dude Jamie Lannister's wild Hold on.
- 53:45I'm looking up. I see the vision.
- 53:48But when you see how menacing he can be, perfect.
- 53:51Like it's you know who also would have made a hell of a
- 53:54doom? The guy who played the young
- 53:57Magneto, Yeah. I agree.
- 54:02Yeah, I'm saying like it's right there.
- 54:05That would have been. Like maybe I want to hear your
- 54:09take on this. I feel like they felt like they
- 54:10had to cast RDJ. I know they think.
- 54:13And not and not because they wanted to, but I feel like when
- 54:17all of the Jonathan Majors fiasco was happening, Ant man,
- 54:20the and the watch, you know, flopping at the box office,
- 54:23people still getting the whole Kang thing wrong because a lot
- 54:27of people keep saying. And if it really infuriates me,
- 54:30I should probably make a post about this.
- 54:32King did not die to regular ants.
- 54:35They were superpower ants because they were in the quantum
- 54:37realm. The movie said that, I don't
- 54:40know why. They weren't even remember that.
- 54:41They weren't even the thing that took him down.
- 54:44No but they played a role so everyone just generalized it of
- 54:47like Kang lost to Ant of course he sucks he don't want.
- 54:50Me to be saying that. Right, but it's super powered,
- 54:53Ant can we at least get the Super powered adjective in
- 54:57there? This was the Quart of Rome.
- 54:59They're like the size of the Labrador.
- 55:01Exactly. Like clearly not normal ants.
- 55:04But everyone just says he died to Ant.
- 55:05But I bring this up to say that Kang dying to super powered, not
- 55:10regular powered ants ruined everybody's interest in him
- 55:14because they're like, you lost to Ant man Ant Man's like the
- 55:17weakest Avenger dude. Here's the thing.
- 55:19OK, if they wanted him to be an Ant man, right?
- 55:22You know how you make it interesting?
- 55:24You make Ant Man lose. That would have been
- 55:27devastating, yes, You make him lose.
- 55:31You make it seem like he's trapped in the quantum realm or
- 55:33he's on some other timeline. Make us concerned for him.
- 55:36Have him separate from the Wasp so she could stay in the quantum
- 55:39realm when she could get recast. That's the point, right?
- 55:42And there's like, oh, he took down one of The Avengers.
- 55:46That's terrifying. That's how you that's an
- 55:47introduction. Because we're all going to
- 55:49expect the happy ending because that's how every superhero movie
- 55:52is. It's, you know, we have fun
- 55:54times. Remember why we're there.
- 55:56That's Infinity War that. Was a different story.
- 55:59But look, Doomsday could end the same way as Infinity War.
- 56:03We're getting started. I want that so bad.
- 56:06I want to be devastated. I know my hearts are hurt.
- 56:08Like I wanted to be like, Oh my God.
- 56:12Like I want to have to need a safe space.
- 56:15I want like to feel emotionally fragile after it because I feel
- 56:19like we haven't gotten that in a long time and I need it.
- 56:23But for the beginning of it, what I think would be perfect is
- 56:28we still have that big ol arena of Kangs that Marvel wants us to
- 56:32forget about. Put Doom right in the middle and
- 56:38it doesn't. You don't have to see anything
- 56:39crazy happen. You just go in like slow zoom
- 56:42in, you see a bunch of dead kings everywhere and then you
- 56:45zoom in till you see a dark figure breaking the neck of the
- 56:49last zoom. Doom.
- 56:51No, the last Kang yeah Frick man.
- 56:55The Last King falling to the floor and you just see that it's
- 57:00a green outfit that. Would be a great introduction.
- 57:04I know. Or him going back to the end
- 57:07game battle and killing off Thanos.
- 57:10Like Can you imagine, like him killing off Thanos before the
- 57:12end game battle happened And then we're like, wait, what's
- 57:15gonna happen now 'cause we wouldn't know.
- 57:17And that's uncharted territory. That's true.
- 57:19That's a shocking introduction. That's true.
- 57:21Well, for for Doom, the perfect person to flex how powerful Doom
- 57:28is would be king comic accuracy there.
- 57:30They're so intertwined with each other.
- 57:32Kang was like the big bad, the one we're all like oh shit until
- 57:36you know, the Super normal ants took them out.
- 57:40They. Were normal.
- 57:44They were in the quantum realm, guys, come on.
- 57:49But yeah, King would be the one because like Victor Timely, we
- 57:53everyone loved him in Season 2 of Loki that the like you had
- 57:59the playbook is right there. If you're not going to keep
- 58:00going with King, use King to introduce Doom.
- 58:05It's so simple. It's so easy.
- 58:08The fandom will understand if it's not Jonathan Majors.
- 58:11We all are OK with that. That is true.
- 58:13Yeah. So we I just don't want them to
- 58:16fumble Doom. That's it.
- 58:17That's all I ask. I don't ask much.
- 58:19Well, what does fumbling doom look like to you?
- 58:22That's my question. Making him not that big of a
- 58:25deal, making him a one off, giving us absolutely no, I don't
- 58:30want to say power, but like, you know, in the comics, when Doom's
- 58:34about to show up and they're like the earth kind of gets a
- 58:36little shaky. Like the tension's in the air.
- 58:39There's just a menacing feeling something's going to happen.
- 58:42It's kind of like when you. Hear the Wonder Woman theme song
- 58:45in the middle of The Flash and Shazam Fear the Gods.
- 58:47That's when you knew things were going South.
- 58:50When I turned on Shazam. Fear the gods.
- 58:54That's when I knew things were going so.
- 58:56And it it did not. Skittles and all it did not.
- 59:00I was not surprised. Oh you didn't want to eat
- 59:02Skittles after Shazam? Fear the gods.
- 59:04I sat there and I was pissed. I was like, I because we, I
- 59:09don't watch movies during the week because I'm busy every day.
- 59:12And then usually the days we watch movies are like Sundays.
- 59:16And I was like, that was the movie I picked for the fucking
- 59:18week. I would have been that, yeah.
- 59:21I would have been pissed at myself too.
- 59:23I hated that movie and I like Shazam.
- 59:25I've reached Shazam comics. That's a statement I don't think
- 59:27a lot of people say in their lives.
- 59:29Like I actively reached Shazam comics, OK?
- 59:32I like Shazam too. Like I really want an absolute
- 59:36Shazam. Like, I think that'd be cool,
- 59:38but. But I think Shazam's, you know,
- 59:41for different reasons, which I'm not going to get into here
- 59:45because we're not going to dress the elephant in the room or the
- 59:47purple crayon. But there's reasons why we'll
- 59:50probably we'll see Suzanne for a while, unless they do Kingdom
- 59:53Come as a movie. But real quick to go back to
- 59:56Doom, because we went off on that tangent, that's what
- 59:59happens. When you that's this whole
- 1:00:00episode, just tangents and I love it.
- 1:00:02Look, it's OK. This is the type of
- 1:00:04conversations I have regularly with people.
- 1:00:05I'm like, I'm about that. Like you want to go from A to B?
- 1:00:08I'm good. Like let's do it.
- 1:00:10But to go back to it, what would make you walk out of the theater
- 1:00:15happy? That with Doomsday.
- 1:00:19Just don't make it like Deadpool Wolverine.
- 1:00:24I loved Deadpool Wolverine, but it was very much, it was just
- 1:00:30things that were was fan service, which I do love fan
- 1:00:33service, but I think it only worked well for that movie.
- 1:00:36For this, I need depth. I need actual race stakes.
- 1:00:41I don't need you to throw in Captain America telling the
- 1:00:47other Captain America. Yeah, but we don't know if he's
- 1:00:51coming back as like we don't know if he's actively Captain
- 1:00:53America right now and then going into end game if he'll join Sam
- 1:00:58Wilson as Captain America or he's just Steve.
- 1:01:00So I don't need to see like, oh, the on your left.
- 1:01:04I I don't need all that. Don't try to pull up my
- 1:01:06heartstrings with that, the friendships, all that I want to
- 1:01:09see devastation. And if you kill off Spider Man
- 1:01:11again, I'll be pissed. I don't think they're going to
- 1:01:16do that. I I don't think so either,
- 1:01:17because he's so heavily involved with Secret Wars and we're
- 1:01:21getting the black suit. Yeah, like, yeah.
- 1:01:25So I don't think they'll go for that, but I think they're going
- 1:01:27to. I think they're going to do away
- 1:01:30with the characters that have been here a little too long.
- 1:01:34I think we're not like Thor. I think Thor's done.
- 1:01:37I think Thor's going to lose his arm.
- 1:01:38I don't think he's going to be killed off.
- 1:01:42Kill him off and then bring Beta Ray Bill in and no one will
- 1:01:46complain a bit. Well, what is Chris Hemsworth
- 1:01:50that's not right to say goodbye to him.
- 1:01:51Maybe he wants. His I'm ready to say goodbye to
- 1:01:53him. I'm ready.
- 1:01:54I don't care. I'm good.
- 1:01:56I'm done. After the last two Thor movies,
- 1:01:59I'm good. Like because those Thor.
- 1:02:02Oh yeah, 100%. I hate what Takai would would
- 1:02:06his name is I. Agree.
- 1:02:08I hate what he did. I hated it.
- 1:02:11I both movies, Ragnarok and Thor, love and Thunder, absolute
- 1:02:14baloney. And it just seemed to me I was
- 1:02:17like, all right, so Chris Hemsworth isn't taking the the
- 1:02:21acting, he's not taking the role very seriously.
- 1:02:24Why should I take him seriously? That's fair.
- 1:02:28Yeah, I agree. I prefer old Thor because he
- 1:02:30felt like a God. I don't really feel like he
- 1:02:33feels like out of the water anymore, which might, you know,
- 1:02:36be intentional because he works with The Avengers every now and
- 1:02:38then. But like the comedic stuff, I
- 1:02:41don't think we're going to see a lot of that in this movie.
- 1:02:43I really think, especially with the teaser trailer that has
- 1:02:46leaked, there's going to be not Infinity War type of Thor.
- 1:02:50I think it's going to be Sirius, Thor.
- 1:02:52We're going to see a part of him where I think we haven't seen
- 1:02:56him act like that before and it's going to throw a lot of us
- 1:03:00off. I think the emphasis on.
- 1:03:02Is the emphasis on, Yeah, I think that's going to be what we
- 1:03:06get out of him. And it's going to be like more
- 1:03:08dark, more serious. And I feel like now that he has
- 1:03:11love, there's going to be like actual stakes for him and him
- 1:03:16wanting to survive or him wanting to do certain things or
- 1:03:19him not willing to take certain risks and stuff like that.
- 1:03:22Well, also it's going to be an emotional, thorough ride for him
- 1:03:24because he's going to see Loki again.
- 1:03:28Unless they don't make, Unless they like, they don't let them
- 1:03:32see each other. That's the kind of little bit of
- 1:03:35gaslighting I'm OK with. Like make me angry.
- 1:03:39Perfect. But here, like, I don't know if
- 1:03:44Mar, I want Marvel to, you know, let us lose a couple of
- 1:03:46Avengers. I think it's time.
- 1:03:48Like, I do think we have to say goodbye to some people.
- 1:03:50There are soaring characters who have not gotten the limelight.
- 1:03:52Like, let's be honest, Shang Chi hasn't gotten the limelight.
- 1:03:55Like I understand with Hawkeye, if he was to, you know, have to
- 1:04:00be sacrificed, we wouldn't bat an eye because we have Kate
- 1:04:02Bishop, right? I don't think you get rid of
- 1:04:05Elena. I think Elena is going to become
- 1:04:07like the center character. I think so too.
- 1:04:10I think just the ones from phase one is who I'm looking at.
- 1:04:13The ones that are like, obviously they're too old to
- 1:04:15play the role Bruce Banner. Chris Hemsworth.
- 1:04:18Samuelson, Bucky. Yeah, Bucky, I think his time is
- 1:04:25coming to an end. Sam Wilson, he's got a whole
- 1:04:28life ahead of him. I think he's good.
- 1:04:32Chris Evans, kill him off. Chris Hemsworth, kill off the
- 1:04:36Chris's. Take all the Chris's out.
- 1:04:39Everybody hates Chris. Take him out.
- 1:04:41Yeah, that's what I want. I think Bucky's going to be
- 1:04:45actually important for once. That's been a big issue I've
- 1:04:48had. I think like Bucky hasn't really
- 1:04:50been that important since Winter Soldier and they haven't really
- 1:04:52known what they want to do with him.
- 1:04:55And I feel like a big sign of that was, you know, how he
- 1:04:57became senator. And then like the next time we
- 1:05:00saw him, he's like, we're not, I'm not doing this everything
- 1:05:01anymore. Like you could tell they had
- 1:05:03different arcs planned for him and they just don't know what to
- 1:05:05do with him. But I really feel like what
- 1:05:07we're not putting into account with all these discussions is
- 1:05:10that we have two Avengers teams and only one of them is the
- 1:05:13common man between the two, Bucky.
- 1:05:18Bucky. Which I think this is going to
- 1:05:20be a really fun story element because it's going to frustrate
- 1:05:23us as fans because we're going to be like, guys, get over it.
- 1:05:25Like, come on, there's, there's bigger stakes than the name of
- 1:05:28The Avengers team. Like there's just band together
- 1:05:30and let's worry about taking this man down.
- 1:05:32You're going to let the name get in the way.
- 1:05:34I really feel like Bucky's gonna have to get the teams on the
- 1:05:37same page or to work together or something to that extent when
- 1:05:41that's going to be a huge part at least of the beginning of
- 1:05:44Doomsday. Because we can't expect them to
- 1:05:46all work together when we have the New Avengers and then we
- 1:05:49have Captain America's Avengers. Like they have to become just
- 1:05:52The Avengers. It's going to be Steve saying
- 1:05:54come on, guys, we're all Avengers.
- 1:05:57And that's when I'm be like, oh, fuck off.
- 1:06:00Like I'm sorry, I don't usually cuss this much about it, but
- 1:06:04like, that's going to annoy me because Steve is such a Boy
- 1:06:08Scout and that has always annoyed me in the comics and
- 1:06:10everything. So I'm just like, I don't care.
- 1:06:13I don't care. I like Sam Wilson as Captain
- 1:06:15America. He feels more Captain America to
- 1:06:17me. You know why?
- 1:06:20Because Sam Wilson feels like the everyday man.
- 1:06:22Yeah, Sam Wilson feels like the type of person if you bumped him
- 1:06:25into him on the street, he would have a 5-10 minute conversation
- 1:06:28with you and it would be the best conversation you'll
- 1:06:30remember for the rest of your life.
- 1:06:32Yeah, and Steve Rogers. Steve Rogers was to give you the
- 1:06:34white person smile the. Yeah, man, thanks for you want a
- 1:06:37photo? All right, let's get a.
- 1:06:39Photo like that's it. But Sam Wilson goes through
- 1:06:41things and fights for things that a lot of us are dealing
- 1:06:44with every single day. Exactly.
- 1:06:46And Steve Rogers is just, yeah, Steve Rogers.
- 1:06:51Just like we got to do what's right for the country.
- 1:06:56We're all American. Like, shut up.
- 1:07:00Just. It's fine.
- 1:07:02Like you're right. I agree with you.
- 1:07:04It's just like the same realization that I had recently.
- 1:07:07I'm like, I want them to do interesting things with Bruce
- 1:07:09Banner. I'm tired of Bruce Banner being
- 1:07:11smart Hulk. I am tired of Bruce Banner being
- 1:07:15this character who he's kind of relevant.
- 1:07:18He's kind of not. He's kind of the comedic effect.
- 1:07:21He's kind of not. He'll have one or two hype
- 1:07:23moments where the Hulk is smashing people.
- 1:07:25Like I'm tired of Bruce Banner not getting his time to shine
- 1:07:30and his time to be a complex character.
- 1:07:33And I know it's never going to happen in a solo movie because
- 1:07:35the Universal has to force Marvel to agree with them to let
- 1:07:39them distribute the film, and that's probably never going to
- 1:07:42happen. So it's like we lost on that
- 1:07:45end. And it's just like, I really
- 1:07:47wish Syrian characters like Bucky, like Hulk could get their
- 1:07:50time to shine. So then we could be like, all
- 1:07:52right, they're done. We can move forward, we could
- 1:07:55push past them. We don't need to keep revisiting
- 1:07:58these arcs over and over and over again and feel like we're
- 1:08:01kind of just treading the same ground.
- 1:08:03Like I'm looking forward to when Captain America has more than
- 1:08:08just the storylines we've seen in Brave New World and the
- 1:08:10storylines we've seen in The Falcon and Winter Soldier.
- 1:08:13I'm ready for him to do things where he gets to approach
- 1:08:17government matters or world stake matters that, you know,
- 1:08:21require a leader to get the group together and go, how do
- 1:08:24you guys feel? What do we do?
- 1:08:25We have to worry. And then they go back and forth
- 1:08:27like he would be able to, you know, defend the common man and
- 1:08:30go, I don't want to hurt this area of the state.
- 1:08:34I don't want to put these people in the middle of destruction.
- 1:08:36Like, I want to see that type of leadership from him.
- 1:08:40And they feel like Avengers Doomsday is going to set that up
- 1:08:43for him, where we're going to see him be himself, of course,
- 1:08:47because Sam Wilson is a very likable guy.
- 1:08:48Of course we're going to see him being a little petty.
- 1:08:51Because we need to the American. Way like we're going to see him
- 1:08:55be petty and go, you guys aren't The Avengers.
- 1:08:59I don't know who you are. I got the shield.
- 1:09:01Like I'm ready to see that type of dynamic of but of him talking
- 1:09:04to Bucky being like, why are you with them?
- 1:09:07You should be bringing them to me because we're Bros.
- 1:09:09Like we're buddies. Like we're best friends.
- 1:09:11You remember, like you liked my sister.
- 1:09:13I saw that when the Bo at the end of Falcon with his.
- 1:09:16Soldier, I talked it. Yeah, like, I want to see that.
- 1:09:19And I want to see him eventually be a leader because Doomsday is
- 1:09:24probably going to have him forcing to face a lot of loss.
- 1:09:27And we might see him grieve and see him take that chip on his
- 1:09:32shoulder and, you know, carry it into Secret Wars.
- 1:09:35And I'm ready to see a lot of characters have sort of that
- 1:09:38same mentality. Like, I want to see him the more
- 1:09:41I want to see what that's like. Like what did we do with him?
- 1:09:44I'm so excited for that toxic little bastard to come in.
- 1:09:47I'm so happy. Like, I'm ready to see him
- 1:09:52because I'm going to pronounce his name.
- 1:09:54I think wrong, but I think it's Tena Cueta, right?
- 1:09:57I'm ready to see him because when he was in Wakanda Forever,
- 1:09:59he dominated every scene he was in.
- 1:10:02Every single one. He was 1.
- 1:10:03He wasn't in. Yeah, he was one of the best
- 1:10:05villains we've ever seen in Marvel history, which is not a
- 1:10:08lot of great villains because we've had, you know, Loki, we've
- 1:10:11had Zanos, we've had Killmonger, of course.
- 1:10:13But like, he's up there. We just haven't had the time to
- 1:10:16see him. And I'm interested to finally
- 1:10:18see him get carried in. And, you know, sure he call him
- 1:10:21because I think they're kind of like friends now or they kind of
- 1:10:24have a. There's a mutual respect.
- 1:10:26Yeah, like I'm, I'm, I'm excited to see him be brought into the
- 1:10:30fray and see what that dynamic ends up looking like because now
- 1:10:34he has to be introduced to all these other people.
- 1:10:36See, I don't see Cherie calling him and saying we need your
- 1:10:40help. I see him saying absolutely not.
- 1:10:43No, I could see them going to Atlantis and be like, Neymour,
- 1:10:47we need your help. And he's like, no, no, no, you
- 1:10:48guys screwed this up. That's all you.
- 1:10:51We're good down here. Because that would be so comic
- 1:10:55accurate of him. Like that's what I want.
- 1:10:58I want so comic accurate. I want the toxicity.
- 1:11:01I want how rude he is. I don't want him to be a team
- 1:11:04player. I want him to be the problem,
- 1:11:07just the problem child of the Marvel Universe.
- 1:11:10It's like, oh, it can't depend on him.
- 1:11:12That's what I want, and I'll take nothing less.
- 1:11:16I want that too, but I'm interested to see what they do
- 1:11:18with him in the movie. Because.
- 1:11:20Like you don't announce him as one of the main cast members
- 1:11:23because remember, they announced like the main cast members here.
- 1:11:25And that's like the core cast probably of the film.
- 1:11:28You don't announce him and it's just that element.
- 1:11:30Like he has to have some action moments, right?
- 1:11:33Yeah. The Talo Khan have to come in to
- 1:11:35be terrifying or doom goes to Avengers.
- 1:11:37Or Doom goes to him for help. Or Doom tries to take over
- 1:11:42Atlantis. I'm not ready to lose that.
- 1:11:46Because I there's just no way that they're going to show us
- 1:11:52Sue Storm and Neymour. I don't think, I don't think
- 1:11:55they're going to do that in this movie unless it's a short, tiny
- 1:11:58bit. Because I feel like everyone's
- 1:11:59kind of like, oh, they're both in the movie.
- 1:12:03And if history taught us anything, my dear listeners,
- 1:12:06it's that they have a scandalous relationship.
- 1:12:09So I don't want to see it all. I mean, I'd be right to see it
- 1:12:13because I didn't necessarily love the Fantastic Four, but
- 1:12:15that's just me. That was surprising to see.
- 1:12:18I've been very vocal, oh, not very vocal, but I've been fairly
- 1:12:22vocal on this movie. High, like everything but them.
- 1:12:25But that's just a whole conversation for a different day
- 1:12:27for me. Well, we're obviously going to
- 1:12:29have to have you back on because we've been talking for so long
- 1:12:33and I feel like we haven't even scratched the surface.
- 1:12:35Yeah, that's true. I'm always open to it.
- 1:12:36I this is fun to me. This has been a great time.
- 1:12:38I've been enjoying this. I'm not going to lie to you.
- 1:12:40Great. Well, we are at the end because
- 1:12:44we've been talking well over an hour and we're obviously going
- 1:12:49to have you back so. I'd be more than happy to.
- 1:12:52So before we go, where can our listeners find you?
- 1:12:55You can find me for all my breaking news, all my movie
- 1:12:59takes. You can find me at threads.com/i
- 1:13:02don't be games my letterbox. I don't be games my YouTube
- 1:13:05channel. I don't be games Twitch channel
- 1:13:07is going to throw you a curveball.
- 1:13:08I don't be games. You can find me basically
- 1:13:10everywhere. You know I don't be games.
- 1:13:12I will, trust me. Me.
- 1:13:14Megan will tell you if you are in my mentions, I am going to
- 1:13:17interact with you. I'm.
- 1:13:19Going to make sure. I will have a conversation with
- 1:13:22you. We will have dialogue.
- 1:13:23I'm very approachable. Just don't come into my mentions
- 1:13:26and being like she hoe sucks because then I'm going to have
- 1:13:29to dunk on you and I don't want to do that.
- 1:13:30I'm very entertaining. I'm very, I want to say
