- 0:11Speaker 4: Podcast Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 5: So, Matam, what did you just start to say? Because
- 0:20Speaker 5: I think I agree with you if you just say
- 0:22Speaker 5: something about Jayden and Daniels.
- 0:23Speaker 3: I love Pepperoni pizza and also Eric point Evan.
- 0:27Speaker 4: Well, he's not as thick up top. You guys know me.
- 0:31Speaker 3: He's not in the program.
- 0:33Speaker 6: Certain calves are noted up.
- 0:41Speaker 3: Doesn't have mayo unless you want to put it in,
- 0:44Speaker 3: he said. The sub scene is lacking.
- 0:46Speaker 4: Friends always got mayo in the crosshairs. I don't know,
- 0:50Speaker 4: but this friend's always telling me not to put on something.
- 0:53Speaker 3: You don't put mayo on an Italian. Do worry about
- 0:55Speaker 3: Paul because if you ever God forbid, if you ever
- 0:57Speaker 3: get into a car accident and they needed blood type,
- 0:59Speaker 3: I don't know how they've matched diepeps. I'm working on
- 1:02Speaker 3: that one. Yeah, Paul's blood is so carbonated that if
- 1:05Speaker 3: he eats mentos will explode.
- 1:09Speaker 1: But I also had This is Patriot's Unfiltered.
- 1:12Speaker 7: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals buy a Toyota
- 1:16Speaker 7: dot com.
- 1:18Speaker 3: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:23Speaker 3: at Jillette Stadium, and boy, I was driving up on
- 1:26Speaker 3: four ninety five today and the heavens opened up. Man,
- 1:29Speaker 3: I mean lightning. It was just like, what's going on?
- 1:33Speaker 8: It was allowed down here in southeastern Massachusetts. Yeah, I
- 1:35Speaker 8: missed this bake thunder. It's pouring now too, is it?
- 1:38Speaker 2: No?
- 1:39Speaker 3: I mean it just opened up. You can see it
- 1:40Speaker 3: from a distance, like, h oh, you're driving into it.
- 1:43Speaker 8: Yeah, that was it was yeah, like you said, it
- 1:46Speaker 8: was just it was like a nice sunny morning and
- 1:47Speaker 8: then all.
- 1:47Speaker 5: Of a sudden, it's yeah, downpours. Huh. This guy I
- 1:50Speaker 5: got the cover off last night, Freddy.
- 1:51Speaker 3: I there you go.
- 1:53Speaker 4: How's the grotto looking this year?
- 1:55Speaker 3: I missed. I missed those days, those pool maintenance days.
- 1:58Speaker 8: Yeah, not as much miss rolling your lawn though, I
- 2:00Speaker 8: mean mowing your lawns for everybody, but pool that's like next.
- 2:04Speaker 5: Level right at home. And there like three of Will's
- 2:05Speaker 5: buddies were there, and I'm like, hey, let's go back, right,
- 2:09Speaker 5: take a half hour tops, let's go.
- 2:11Speaker 8: Oh yeah, my favorite thing my brother in lawn gino
- 2:12Speaker 8: talk about the time South Boston has the Boston accent.
- 2:15Speaker 8: I love when he's like, yeah, I had to shock it,
- 2:17Speaker 8: shock it, shocked it.
- 2:19Speaker 3: Shocking off you got to do when you first open
- 2:21Speaker 3: it up and there.
- 2:22Speaker 4: You got a shock a shock What does that mean exactly?
- 2:24Speaker 3: It's like really really concentrated chlorine and it just kills everything. Yeah,
- 2:29Speaker 3: yeh yeah, you skin yeah right, well you're not supposed
- 2:34Speaker 3: to like shower in it, right, shock yourself.
- 2:37Speaker 5: Yeah, it was surprisingly very clear, good water. I'm very
- 2:41Speaker 5: happy with myself because it was the first time I
- 2:43Speaker 5: ever closed by myself.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Oh.
- 2:45Speaker 5: I always opened myself, but I usually don't close myself
- 2:49Speaker 5: that because I was always just assuming that I would
- 2:52Speaker 5: do something wrong and if it's the cover's not on right,
- 2:55Speaker 5: you could do damage. So I figured why risk it
- 2:58Speaker 5: with me. I have no skills whatsoever other than remembering
- 3:02Speaker 5: random scores from games from like the late seventies.
- 3:06Speaker 3: Good pool talk, Good pool talk. All right, it is Thursday,
- 3:08Speaker 3: and it's Deuce, it's Evan, it's Paul, it's me. We'd
- 3:12Speaker 3: be joined by anyone.
- 3:13Speaker 4: I thought I was to be here. I just I
- 3:14Speaker 4: was on a call, so I ran down late. I
- 3:16Speaker 4: figured she'd be here.
- 3:17Speaker 3: I'm not sure it was nothing that she wants to tout,
- 3:19Speaker 3: So she's not here.
- 3:21Speaker 4: She's probably in Celtics mode.
- 3:22Speaker 3: I would guess that's true.
- 3:23Speaker 6: That's why we just wave over on catch twenty ten. Yeah,
- 3:26Speaker 6: I had to get my Celtics takes.
- 3:27Speaker 3: Out of the apologies for starting late. You know. Catch
- 3:29Speaker 3: twenty two of course takes.
- 3:30Speaker 8: Wellcident two hours not enough for Evan and Alex.
- 3:34Speaker 6: I mean, that's okay. Well, we got bogged down by
- 3:36Speaker 6: the new kickoff rule and I said to Alex, I
- 3:38Speaker 6: was like, we're not doing fifteen minutes on the kickoff rule.
- 3:41Speaker 6: And you did and we did, And then I would
- 3:43Speaker 6: rather listen to your Xavier Tillman talk than fifteen minutes
- 3:48Speaker 6: on the new kickoff rules.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Then tho's happened like three months ago. Why are you
- 3:52Speaker 4: guys just getting too that now?
- 3:53Speaker 5: Well, Alex has been obsessed with it ever since.
- 3:56Speaker 6: Yes, but also because I you know, obviously we did
- 3:59Speaker 6: ota Reek app today on catch twenty two, and one
- 4:01Speaker 6: of my last points on my list was that we
- 4:03Speaker 6: didn't see them do any kickoffs, which I think was
- 4:05Speaker 6: probably on purpose because they're still working on how exactly
- 4:09Speaker 6: they want to hold that a little bit.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Are you still outraged about the quarterback reps?
- 4:15Speaker 6: No mini outrage now many out We've turned it down
- 4:18Speaker 6: just a little bit, a little bit. I've moved on
- 4:20Speaker 6: to being outraged about other things.
- 4:22Speaker 3: But I you know, this is why Belichick wouldn't allow
- 4:24Speaker 3: us to come to these things, because of people like you.
- 4:27Speaker 5: Well, well, the thing that happened this week, we would
- 4:30Speaker 5: have been allowed to be Yet, you know, on the
- 4:32Speaker 5: years that they weren't losing them for violating the rules,
- 4:35Speaker 5: which is last year.
- 4:36Speaker 4: Good strong on fire.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Yeah, but anyway that happened, I digo. So what else
- 4:44Speaker 3: have we got since Tuesday?
- 4:46Speaker 4: Not a whole heck of a lot.
- 4:48Speaker 3: I feel like Prescott doesn't play for the money. Oh yeah,
- 4:51Speaker 3: did you hear that?
- 4:52Speaker 6: Sure?
- 4:52Speaker 4: Just the glory? Yeah, isn't that much of that? Yeah?
- 4:58Speaker 4: Do you think, I mean, do you think he'll be uh,
- 4:59Speaker 4: he'll hit the market next year?
- 5:00Speaker 2: Is that?
- 5:00Speaker 4: Is that pussy blaze?
- 5:02Speaker 3: Yeah? I think it is a possibility. Yeah, yeah, I
- 5:04Speaker 3: really do.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Yeah, it'd be interesting. I mean it's been a little while.
- 5:07Speaker 8: I mean, Kirk Cousins does not really count, but I
- 5:09Speaker 8: think Dak's not even is he thirty yet?
- 5:11Speaker 5: Kirk Cousins counts.
- 5:12Speaker 8: Yeah, but I mean, would you put Dack above him?
- 5:15Speaker 8: I put that above him.
- 5:17Speaker 3: It seems like he's Cousins is always on the market.
- 5:20Speaker 6: Yeah, that's thirty now.
- 5:22Speaker 5: Yeah, Da Dak is a better player, I think than
- 5:24Speaker 5: Kirk Cousins. But I would definitely count Cousins as a
- 5:29Speaker 5: you know, an established NFL starting quarterback who hit the market.
- 5:33Speaker 4: Yeah, but how old Kirk Cousins thirty five? Yeah, but
- 5:36Speaker 4: he hit the He hit the market coming off an
- 5:38Speaker 4: Achilles too.
- 5:38Speaker 6: Well. He hit for the third time with the Vikings,
- 5:41Speaker 6: like when he went to the Vikings. Yeah, when he
- 5:43Speaker 6: went from Washington to Minnesota, hits the market a lot.
- 5:46Speaker 5: Yeah, and he was franchised in Washington. So you think Jared,
- 5:49Speaker 5: that's what other time.
- 5:50Speaker 8: Does Jara let Da go or even let him see
- 5:53Speaker 8: the market come back to us?
- 5:54Speaker 3: I think I think he'll see what happens this year,
- 5:56Speaker 3: and I think it's a possibility.
- 5:58Speaker 6: Yeah, there's something there where It doesn't feel like the
- 6:01Speaker 6: Joneses are one hundred percent sold on Dak Prescott. I
- 6:05Speaker 6: don't know what they feel is missing. I think I'm
- 6:09Speaker 6: sold on it being a franchise. Winning a Super Bowl
- 6:11Speaker 6: is that's I don't know if that's necessarily been Dak's fault.
- 6:15Speaker 3: No, but like you know, they probably feel like, Okay,
- 6:20Speaker 3: we can keep spinning our wheels, or we can kind
- 6:22Speaker 3: of kind of start fresh and you know, spend the
- 6:25Speaker 3: money elsewhere or what.
- 6:26Speaker 8: You know, what don't you feel like at a certain point,
- 6:28Speaker 8: like a team like San Francisco, they've gone through a
- 6:29Speaker 8: couple of different quarterbacks, I mean, but they clearly have
- 6:32Speaker 8: a program, program that's gotten to like NSC championships and
- 6:36Speaker 8: Super Bowls. They haven't gotten over the hump, but you
- 6:39Speaker 8: know with like like wouldn't you like to see more
- 6:41Speaker 8: of that? If you're Dallas and your Dak, Like are
- 6:43Speaker 8: we in that in that range of you know, like
- 6:45Speaker 8: they're struggling to win one playoff game.
- 6:47Speaker 3: It's a tough comparison because they lucked into Purty and
- 6:49Speaker 3: they're not paying him yet. You know, but like if
- 6:52Speaker 3: if they were in the same situation where they had
- 6:54Speaker 3: a high priced quarterback and they just can't get to
- 6:56Speaker 3: the Promised Land, they'd probably be thinking the same.
- 6:59Speaker 8: Like San Francisco is like a Kyle Shanahan team, right, Like,
- 7:03Speaker 8: so whether it was Jimmy g or it's Purty, you know,
- 7:06Speaker 8: like it's him, and you I find a San Francisco fan,
- 7:08Speaker 8: I'm like, we're probably a couple bounces away from from
- 7:11Speaker 8: actually lightning a title. But if you're like, Dak is
- 7:14Speaker 8: kind of the Cowboys right now, like you look at
- 7:16Speaker 8: you don't look at it as the Mike McCarthy.
- 7:18Speaker 4: It's it's Dak, and it just hasn't you know what
- 7:20Speaker 4: I mean? They haven't been like the.
- 7:22Speaker 5: Cop though, because like, what if to your point, Freddy,
- 7:25Speaker 5: if if San Francisco, you know, Purdy's been there, you
- 7:30Speaker 5: know for a year plus, what if he was there
- 7:34Speaker 5: for the last five years. Yeah, now they didn't paying him,
- 7:37Speaker 5: So no, what I'm saying, like, but would you that
- 7:40Speaker 5: would be my question. So let's say he was the
- 7:42Speaker 5: quarterback that lost the Super Bowl when Garoppolo was there
- 7:46Speaker 5: and then lost it again. Would you be looking at
- 7:48Speaker 5: him and saying, now, obviously that's a higher level than
- 7:51Speaker 5: Dak has gotten because they haven't even gotten I don't
- 7:53Speaker 5: think Dallas even to the conference championship game, let alone
- 7:56Speaker 5: the super Bowl. But would you if you were San
- 7:59Speaker 5: Francisco you had five years of Brock Purty sort of
- 8:02Speaker 5: knocking on the door, not getting over the hump, and
- 8:04Speaker 5: then say, I got to give this guy, you know,
- 8:07Speaker 5: one hundred and fifty two hundred million dollars.
- 8:09Speaker 3: Right, And I think knowing Kyle Shanahan, he wouldn't because
- 8:11Speaker 3: he probably thinks I can bring in somebody else and
- 8:14Speaker 3: in my offense.
- 8:15Speaker 8: And that's probably where the comparison kind of diverges.
- 8:18Speaker 5: But San Francisco's definitely had more success in the postseason
- 8:21Speaker 5: than that by a lot.
- 8:22Speaker 8: I mean, I doubt I know, I know nothing about basketball,
- 8:25Speaker 8: but is it kind of like the Celtics in that
- 8:27Speaker 8: young core, they are consistently gotten close and it gave
- 8:31Speaker 8: you reason to think we should stick with this, whereas
- 8:33Speaker 8: you know, another team that, yeah, that's a talented team,
- 8:35Speaker 8: but man, we're just we can't even get out of
- 8:37Speaker 8: the first round.
- 8:38Speaker 4: Like maybe it's time to look somewhere else.
- 8:40Speaker 6: Yeah, although that you know, Purty obviously being mister irrelevant
- 8:44Speaker 6: is not how the Celtics were built at all. The
- 8:48Speaker 6: Niners are probably the closest comparison to the Celtics, just
- 8:51Speaker 6: uber talented team that just hasn't been able to get
- 8:55Speaker 6: over that final front team.
- 8:57Speaker 3: But let's not you know, dismiss the talent on the
- 8:59Speaker 3: count Boys, that the.
- 9:01Speaker 5: Cowboys have a lot of talent. Yeah, yeah, but not
- 9:04Speaker 5: San Francisco too, No, no, but matter of fact, they've
- 9:06Speaker 5: played San Francisco a couple of times in yeah, recent
- 9:10Speaker 5: years and have been outclassed.
- 9:12Speaker 4: Yeah yeah. Now kind of along those lines too.
- 9:14Speaker 8: I saw just somebody speculating or not speculating, just saying,
- 9:17Speaker 8: like the Jaguars are about to have to give Trevor.
- 9:20Speaker 4: Lawrence what forty million a year and fifty million.
- 9:23Speaker 8: I mean, it's and they have to do it, right,
- 9:25Speaker 8: Like they can't be like, well it's been okay, but
- 9:28Speaker 8: like they're kind of it's one of those situations, like
- 9:31Speaker 8: we talked about, you just.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Have no choice.
- 9:33Speaker 5: I don't think Dallas. I don't think Dak Prescott to
- 9:35Speaker 5: get back full circle. I don't think he's going anywhere
- 9:37Speaker 5: for the same reason. Yeah, I think they kind of
- 9:40Speaker 5: have to do it. Yeah, and maybe it's like maybe
- 9:42Speaker 5: it's a three year deal or a four year deal,
- 9:44Speaker 5: and maybe you're not tying yourself up for the seven
- 9:46Speaker 5: or eight. You know, at his age, he would you
- 9:49Speaker 5: say he's thirty aelf he's thirty half. Yeah, so maybe
- 9:51Speaker 5: it's a little bit short of term, but I think
- 9:53Speaker 5: you're gonna have to pay for it.
- 9:54Speaker 6: Yeah, I wonder if that's the way that because the
- 9:57Speaker 6: quarterback apy, like the average pre year, is getting out
- 10:00Speaker 6: of control. You know, Trevor Lawrence is a good quarterback.
- 10:03Speaker 6: It's a franchise quarterback, but is he a fifty million
- 10:06Speaker 6: dollar player? He is now? And I wonder to your point, Paul,
- 10:10Speaker 6: is it going.
- 10:11Speaker 5: To be.
- 10:13Speaker 6: For three years or four years? And really it's only
- 10:15Speaker 6: two real years. That's what I would do if I
- 10:17Speaker 6: were down like those types of moves. I wonder if
- 10:19Speaker 6: that's how teams are going to fight back against the.
- 10:22Speaker 5: Give him more than even maybe he's asking for, but
- 10:25Speaker 5: make make the term shorter and.
- 10:27Speaker 6: Be able to get out of it.
- 10:28Speaker 5: Yeah, you saw the You know, the golf contract is big,
- 10:32Speaker 5: and I'm sure that guys like Tua are looking at
- 10:34Speaker 5: that saying, you know, I'm comparable to him. I've put
- 10:37Speaker 5: up better numbers than him. That's that's what these guys
- 10:41Speaker 5: are going to And I think you're asking the same thing.
- 10:44Speaker 5: If you, Mike McDaniel, do I want him the best
- 10:47Speaker 5: two hundred million dollars in him?
- 10:48Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 10:49Speaker 5: Well then I think you kind of have to.
- 10:50Speaker 3: What would you think about the league, the NFL, what
- 10:53Speaker 3: would you think making a sort of salary exception for
- 10:56Speaker 3: the quarterback position, so like a max contract or something
- 10:59Speaker 3: where it doesn't hurt you as much against the cape.
- 11:03Speaker 5: I don't think that's necessary at all, you know, like
- 11:05Speaker 5: I'm just not a big cap guy, I know.
- 11:08Speaker 6: But so they do that in the NBA. Not to
- 11:09Speaker 6: keep talking about the Celtics. That's what that's what a
- 11:12Speaker 6: max that's what a max contract is in the league.
- 11:14Speaker 6: And you know you can have you can go over
- 11:17Speaker 6: the tax, like you can go over the salary cap
- 11:19Speaker 6: and then pay the tax and stuff like that. There's aprons.
- 11:22Speaker 5: It's very guarantee you. The owners in the NFL do
- 11:24Speaker 5: not want that.
- 11:25Speaker 6: The aprons are just like all right, it's confusing, but
- 11:28Speaker 6: the main point is is that it caps the max
- 11:31Speaker 6: of what a player can make. But it also allows
- 11:34Speaker 6: you to have a team like the Celtics or they
- 11:37Speaker 6: have four guys that are making big money and they're
- 11:39Speaker 6: able to afford it even with the salary cap.
- 11:41Speaker 5: Golden State did it.
- 11:42Speaker 4: For a day.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I know we're kind of talking football here, but
- 11:47Speaker 3: you know, these pages right now are kind of status
- 11:49Speaker 3: quo there's not a lot of news, so we're delving
- 11:51Speaker 3: into other things. Another league note that came out Roger Goodell.
- 11:55Speaker 3: The owners are meeting over the last couple of days,
- 11:58Speaker 3: and you know, he said, there is talk about eighteen
- 12:01Speaker 3: but it's kind of often to the distance, which means
- 12:04Speaker 3: it's probably a year or two away, you know. So
- 12:08Speaker 3: they're talking about eighteen games, and you know it's a
- 12:10Speaker 3: it's a discussion with the union, but it seems like
- 12:14Speaker 3: the Union is, you know know what, they know it's coming,
- 12:19Speaker 3: and I think they're willing to talk about it if
- 12:21Speaker 3: they get something in return.
- 12:23Speaker 8: And I'd say throw Australia in there too. It's I mean,
- 12:26Speaker 8: it's just a great push and pull right now of
- 12:28Speaker 8: the NFL, which is, you know, we want players to
- 12:30Speaker 8: be safe and we want, you know, to talk about
- 12:32Speaker 8: head traumas and all, you know, all that stuff that
- 12:34Speaker 8: they've done. But at the same point, it's just it's
- 12:37Speaker 8: continuation to talking out of both sides of your mouth,
- 12:39Speaker 8: and it's we've got games on Wednesdays now, and you're
- 12:41Speaker 8: gonna be flying down there.
- 12:42Speaker 5: The hip drops right right. Everybody want everything. We're changing
- 12:47Speaker 5: the kickoff and we're going to.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Ban the hip drop Town twenty four, Australia.
- 12:51Speaker 5: That's what he said. I know I'm not making about
- 12:54Speaker 5: making it up, I know, but that's what that that
- 12:55Speaker 5: he thinks that's the same.
- 12:57Speaker 3: No, and they feel those are bargaining chips, right, that's
- 13:01Speaker 3: they honestly why I bring it up.
- 13:02Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's I mean it's it's especially the
- 13:06Speaker 8: hep drop, which is just you know, it's like you're
- 13:08Speaker 8: just gonna bog the game down even more so. I
- 13:11Speaker 8: don't know, I think this is the great fight of
- 13:13Speaker 8: the NFL right now.
- 13:14Speaker 4: Is to uh. I think my dad was a pig.
- 13:16Speaker 8: Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered, and you know what,
- 13:19Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 13:20Speaker 3: If too much I'm what I'm saying is I don't
- 13:22Speaker 3: know if it's going.
- 13:22Speaker 4: To be a fight.
- 13:23Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be.
- 13:24Speaker 8: I think it's there with another bye week and the
- 13:26Speaker 8: lack of a preseason game, there's there's a negotiation there.
- 13:28Speaker 3: They'll give them the bye week and they'll they'll add
- 13:31Speaker 3: it and they'll take away a preseason game and yeah,
- 13:35Speaker 3: that'll be it.
- 13:35Speaker 5: It's Pramer and Jackie Child's now. The big thing is
- 13:39Speaker 5: it's just given give them something that they think is that,
- 13:42Speaker 5: you know what, they don't have to go to an OTA.
- 13:44Speaker 4: So done.
- 13:45Speaker 3: But the big, the big thing that the association be
- 13:49Speaker 3: looking forwards. Okay, we're playing more games. Now whatever you
- 13:53Speaker 3: were paying me in my salary, in my contract, it
- 13:56Speaker 3: needs to go up by a percentage.
- 13:58Speaker 4: Yeah, you know that's gonna.
- 13:59Speaker 6: Be part one more game check. But I I don't
- 14:03Speaker 6: think it's that big of a deal for the players
- 14:05Speaker 6: if they have the double buye. If there's two buys
- 14:08Speaker 6: and now you're playing one less preseason game, but you're
- 14:10Speaker 6: playing eighteen games and to your point, Fred, you're getting
- 14:13Speaker 6: another paycheck out of it.
- 14:15Speaker 5: Then I don't see what's such about getting more money
- 14:18Speaker 5: out of it, Like, are you just dividing paychecks over
- 14:20Speaker 5: eighteen weeks instead of seventeen or are you giving him
- 14:23Speaker 5: more money?
- 14:23Speaker 3: No, no, you have to get more.
- 14:25Speaker 5: And my guess is they will allow them to get manipulated.
- 14:27Speaker 5: They will allow themselves to get manipulated. I'm being serious.
- 14:30Speaker 5: I know the players Association in that league is powerless.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Yeah, who Damorris Smith is out now? Right? Who's the
- 14:39Speaker 3: head of the association?
- 14:43Speaker 6: The the player rap is still teller right from the
- 14:46Speaker 6: the Browns.
- 14:47Speaker 3: Have no idea. J. C.
- 14:48Speaker 6: Tradder.
- 14:49Speaker 5: I mean I think that turned over.
- 14:51Speaker 6: That changed too.
- 14:52Speaker 5: Yeah, I think that you.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Understand somebody looked that up. But I know Deamorris Smith
- 14:56Speaker 3: he talked the big game, but you know, yeah, and
- 15:00Speaker 3: then his predecessor was totally with you know, yeah.
- 15:05Speaker 5: I mean way way back, you know, with Ushow. Yeah,
- 15:09Speaker 5: I mean he was in on it in a lot
- 15:10Speaker 5: of ways.
- 15:11Speaker 6: Yeah, it's Lloyd Howell is his name?
- 15:15Speaker 1: And J.
- 15:17Speaker 6: Jalen Reeves maybe is now the player was the name
- 15:20Speaker 6: I couldn't think of.
- 15:21Speaker 5: But I just.
- 15:24Speaker 6: Do you have to negotiate the eighteenth game into the
- 15:26Speaker 6: contracts And that's not just on the PA. I think
- 15:28Speaker 6: that's on the agent's also, like they have to be
- 15:30Speaker 6: like Mike, when I sign a new contract, my client's
- 15:33Speaker 6: going to be paid for eighteen games. But if they
- 15:36Speaker 6: do that and they get the extra bye week, doesn't
- 15:38Speaker 6: everybody kind of win well?
- 15:39Speaker 5: And if they get more money, yes, I would say
- 15:41Speaker 5: they would probably rather do that than have the third preseason.
- 15:45Speaker 6: Game, especially by the veteran.
- 15:46Speaker 5: But here's the thing is, they don't need the permission.
- 15:49Speaker 5: They don't have to get the NFLPA doesn't have to
- 15:52Speaker 5: say okay, we're going to go to the bargaining table.
- 15:54Speaker 5: I think the NFL will probably try to avoid the
- 15:57Speaker 5: bad publicity that would come with just forcing it in
- 16:00Speaker 5: and right. But they can do it if they want to.
- 16:02Speaker 5: They don't have to get permission.
- 16:03Speaker 3: And you know, a lot of people are critical of
- 16:06Speaker 3: the you know, the the league with the international expansion
- 16:10Speaker 3: and uh, you know, the new streaming rights, you know,
- 16:13Speaker 3: the cash cow that they're getting, you know from now
- 16:17Speaker 3: Netflix and Amazon and all that stuff. But they're doing
- 16:20Speaker 3: all this because they foresee the need that we're gonna
- 16:24Speaker 3: have to give the players maybe a little bit more money.
- 16:26Speaker 3: We need to raise revenue. We need to raise you
- 16:29Speaker 3: know what that you know cap is every year that
- 16:33Speaker 3: you know, teams have to spend.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Uh.
- 16:37Speaker 3: The players get fifty one percent of the revenue. So
- 16:39Speaker 3: the more the revenue is, the more the pay of players.
- 16:42Speaker 3: And it's less of a hit on the owners if
- 16:44Speaker 3: they do have to dip into their pockets and give
- 16:46Speaker 3: them more for the eighteenth game.
- 16:48Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, i'd say, you know, from the fans
- 16:50Speaker 8: perspective too, I think eighteen games, two preseason games, two buys.
- 16:53Speaker 8: I think that might be better for the fans too.
- 16:54Speaker 3: You got an extra game to see.
- 16:56Speaker 8: You don't have to pay fork out the money to
- 16:58Speaker 8: see a preseason game with backups, you know, and maybe
- 17:01Speaker 8: the season starts a little bit earlier, so it might
- 17:03Speaker 8: offer some flexibility the fans.
- 17:04Speaker 4: I think the players are the number one.
- 17:06Speaker 5: I don't think you could argue much about I mean,
- 17:10Speaker 5: ninety nine point nine percent fans are going to say,
- 17:14Speaker 5: of course, I'd rather watch eighteen real games and two
- 17:16Speaker 5: fake ones, right than seventeen and three or sixteen and four. Yeah,
- 17:20Speaker 5: but I just do wonder in the back of my
- 17:22Speaker 5: mind what the product looked like.
- 17:24Speaker 8: Looks like yeah, yeah, And I mean and because actually
- 17:27Speaker 8: I was talked about this with Claire on a Claire
- 17:29Speaker 8: Perspective out now check it out episode ninety four, I
- 17:32Speaker 8: think good for Claire.
- 17:34Speaker 5: I did a kind of the profits.
- 17:37Speaker 8: I don't know, there's no you get free breakfast, there's
- 17:41Speaker 8: no money involved.
- 17:42Speaker 4: Shoot, you just sidetracked me now and I forgot what
- 17:43Speaker 4: I forgot.
- 17:44Speaker 5: The tight end was going to make tight ends. I'm
- 17:46Speaker 5: sure it was the top.
- 17:46Speaker 8: No, we stayed off the tight ends. We didn't maybe
- 17:48Speaker 8: a little yeah, it'll come back to me.
- 17:50Speaker 4: Sorry, move on.
- 17:51Speaker 3: So the other issue that they were talking about which
- 17:54Speaker 3: this could be a sneaky big one. It's allowing hedge
- 17:58Speaker 3: fund businesses to buy into teams. And whether it's minority
- 18:04Speaker 3: owner or actually having majority stake. Are they going to
- 18:07Speaker 3: allow that because it's easy money for the owners? You know,
- 18:11Speaker 3: they you know, they don't really. They obviously get the
- 18:14Speaker 3: money from the TV revenue and all their marketing deals
- 18:17Speaker 3: and all the ticket sales and everything like that, but
- 18:20Speaker 3: when it comes to the value of their franchise, they
- 18:22Speaker 3: don't get any of that unless they sell the team.
- 18:25Speaker 3: You know, they can take loans against it and use
- 18:28Speaker 3: the team as collateral and all that, and that's kind
- 18:30Speaker 3: of free money, I get it, But they don't cash
- 18:32Speaker 3: in unless they sell it. But this is a way
- 18:34Speaker 3: for owners to cash in while they still own the team.
- 18:38Speaker 3: The problem is like how far does the league allow
- 18:41Speaker 3: this to go? You know, when you have these equity
- 18:44Speaker 3: firms owning teams, the equity firms are in it for
- 18:47Speaker 3: the money. They're not in it to be sportsmen and
- 18:50Speaker 3: just have a you know, a stake and a team
- 18:52Speaker 3: as a boutique investment. Eventually they're going to want to
- 18:56Speaker 3: cash out. And now you're going to see a lot
- 18:58Speaker 3: of if my prediction is if they allow it, every
- 19:03Speaker 3: five years, you're going to see new owners, not full owners,
- 19:06Speaker 3: but minority owners or whatever. With these teams. I think
- 19:10Speaker 3: it this one could be a Pandora's box.
- 19:13Speaker 8: Uh, you know, because if you think they'll have input
- 19:16Speaker 8: on into the team or are they just minority stakeholders,
- 19:18Speaker 8: they don't really they're not.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Well, yeah, they want to protect their investment. They're these
- 19:23Speaker 3: guys are these guys are money. They're solely in it
- 19:26Speaker 3: for the money, you know, And you could say that's
- 19:28Speaker 3: what that's the way it is with all owners. But
- 19:30Speaker 3: you know, the Crafts want to at least they say,
- 19:33Speaker 3: and if you take them for the word, they want
- 19:35Speaker 3: to keep this team in their family forever, you know,
- 19:37Speaker 3: for generations, and that means not selling it. But that's
- 19:40Speaker 3: not what these heads, these equity guys are doing. They're
- 19:43Speaker 3: looking to make money, you know, the team, and you
- 19:46Speaker 3: don't make the money unless you sell your stake. And
- 19:49Speaker 3: you know, the more turnover there is that could be problematic.
- 19:53Speaker 3: And like you said, yeah, they're gonna want to have
- 19:55Speaker 3: input because of an investment. If they see things going south,
- 19:58Speaker 3: they want to protect their investment.
- 20:00Speaker 8: Especially these are very rich companies and people too who
- 20:03Speaker 8: are used to having say and having influence over things.
- 20:06Speaker 4: And yeah, I mean you could get to a situation
- 20:08Speaker 4: where you have, like, you know, a hostile.
- 20:09Speaker 8: Takeover and you know, another stakeholder comes in and they're
- 20:13Speaker 8: trying to push out the real owner, and I.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Agree, behind the scenes maneuverings and bad press and trying
- 20:18Speaker 3: to you know, talk bad about the majority owners so
- 20:21Speaker 3: that the fans, you know, I could see this being
- 20:24Speaker 3: an issue.
- 20:24Speaker 8: Yeah, for better or worse, there's just something clean about
- 20:26Speaker 8: like this is the dude who owns the team, you know,
- 20:29Speaker 8: and that is the family that owns the team, and
- 20:31Speaker 8: they're the ones making the shots. And you know, for
- 20:33Speaker 8: better or worse, I mean I've seen some of this
- 20:35Speaker 8: speculation about the Cowboys actually that that they're kind of
- 20:37Speaker 8: in that mode now where they just want to make money.
- 20:39Speaker 8: They don't they're not truly you know, pursuing championships that
- 20:42Speaker 8: you know, at all costs.
- 20:43Speaker 4: Now it's it's more about Phil and Jerry's world.
- 20:46Speaker 5: And ever since he had the very public split with
- 20:49Speaker 5: Jimmy Johnson, he's notoriously cheaped out on coaches and the
- 20:53Speaker 5: one lone exception is the parcels time, which is when
- 20:56Speaker 5: he wanted to build a stadium, right, Like, that's his
- 20:59Speaker 5: reputation is that, you know, he'll he'll throw money around
- 21:02Speaker 5: at the roster here and there. But you know, it's
- 21:06Speaker 5: a cap league, so there's only so much and on
- 21:10Speaker 5: the margins, it's not.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Well, the Cowboys are a whole They're a whole different
- 21:13Speaker 3: deal because they're the only team in the league that
- 21:16Speaker 3: owns their their the rights to their logo. Every other team,
- 21:21Speaker 3: believe it or not, the league owns the rights to
- 21:23Speaker 3: the marks. You know, so the Patriots can't do whatever
- 21:26Speaker 3: they want with the Patriots logo. The Cowboys can their
- 21:30Speaker 3: grandfather because back in the day, you know, he paid
- 21:35Speaker 3: a boatload for it, but he bought the license for
- 21:39Speaker 3: the start. He can do whatever he wants with it.
- 21:42Speaker 3: But he's the only team they can do.
- 21:43Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, there's such a unique team with you know,
- 21:46Speaker 8: I said, I went to training camp out Knoxnard, California
- 21:49Speaker 8: for the Cowboys, and I mean just fans rolling into
- 21:51Speaker 8: your jack serious day just to check it out, just
- 21:54Speaker 8: to see what it was like. I mean, it's pretty
- 21:56Speaker 8: similar to here. It's just it's isolated though, you know,
- 21:58Speaker 8: it's I mean, it's up the coast of up the one.
- 22:00Speaker 8: I want to about halfway to the Santa Barbara.
- 22:02Speaker 4: One, up the one.
- 22:04Speaker 8: Yeah, well, I know that's you can't say the four
- 22:08Speaker 8: ninety five.
- 22:08Speaker 4: It's just that it doesn't work.
- 22:10Speaker 3: I'll say it.
- 22:10Speaker 4: I took the most people. I took the sixth, the six.
- 22:15Speaker 6: I love how he just like goes right back into
- 22:17Speaker 6: California mode.
- 22:19Speaker 8: You have to go around to self, Vince Vicente and
- 22:22Speaker 8: then over to Pico, you know, right, you know.
- 22:26Speaker 5: Can I ask a question back to what we before
- 22:31Speaker 5: you went to the hedge fund on the TV stuff, Fred,
- 22:35Speaker 5: I trust your insights. No, And I'm being serious. So
- 22:41Speaker 5: you you were saying, like how some fans have been
- 22:43Speaker 5: critical of you know, the yeah, proliferate the I can't
- 22:49Speaker 5: say that.
- 22:49Speaker 3: Word streaming, the streaming deal of.
- 22:51Speaker 5: Streaming of the international. But I want to go to the
- 22:55Speaker 5: streaming specifically because I don't really care, you know, one
- 23:01Speaker 5: way or the other. You know about where. But why
- 23:05Speaker 5: does it seem to be that they're so hell bent
- 23:08Speaker 5: on the streaming like it needs to be Prime, it
- 23:10Speaker 5: needs to be Netflix. It needs to.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Because they have the cash.
- 23:13Speaker 5: But why wouldn't you just go to other networks. The
- 23:15Speaker 5: other networks don't have the cash.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Yeah, they're they're not spending the money there. The league
- 23:21Speaker 3: will go wherever the money is, and that's where the
- 23:23Speaker 3: money is.
- 23:24Speaker 5: But I think they want to be in bed with
- 23:25Speaker 5: the streamers.
- 23:28Speaker 6: The future makes.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Sense because they of the extra Well why.
- 23:32Speaker 5: I don't really know. This is why I'm asking.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I just think it's a money play, Paul. I
- 23:37Speaker 3: just think that you don't think that's who has the
- 23:38Speaker 3: money now? So like, and you know, they want to
- 23:41Speaker 3: get into sports live sports live. Sports is pretty much
- 23:45Speaker 3: the only appointment television left. Everything else you can watch
- 23:49Speaker 3: whenever you want. You know, you can love Game of
- 23:51Speaker 3: Thrones when it was on, but you didn't have to
- 23:54Speaker 3: be there Sunday night when the episode came out. You
- 23:56Speaker 3: could watch it anytime you want. Sports you still it's
- 24:00Speaker 3: you just have to watch it live.
- 24:01Speaker 5: Yeah, And I mean you're probably right. It's probably Netflix
- 24:04Speaker 5: just offered more than anybody else. I just to me,
- 24:07Speaker 5: there's still some some meat on the network bone. Like
- 24:11Speaker 5: I just saw I just read something this morning about
- 24:14Speaker 5: TNT is going to have some of the college football
- 24:17Speaker 5: playoff games. Yep, they look like they're really continuing like
- 24:20Speaker 5: they they they got part of that, you know, the
- 24:22Speaker 5: NCAA tournament now like the final four is on TNT. Yeah,
- 24:27Speaker 5: but TBS or you know what, I think it's team.
- 24:28Speaker 3: And so this sublight, this sub licensing that from ESPN.
- 24:32Speaker 5: Right.
- 24:33Speaker 3: The reason why T and T is willing to do
- 24:35Speaker 3: it is because they can promote their other programming.
- 24:38Speaker 5: But I think they're also trying I think it's part
- 24:41Speaker 5: you know, I don't know this for certain, but like
- 24:44Speaker 5: Evan would know some more about some of this stuff.
- 24:47Speaker 5: That is the best NBA show there is and we
- 24:51Speaker 5: know with Barkley and Ernie Johnson and Kenny Smith and
- 24:54Speaker 5: Shack and we're going to lose it, and I think
- 24:57Speaker 5: it might be part and parcel, like you know, like, no,
- 25:00Speaker 5: we're trying to prove that we're we're a big wig
- 25:03Speaker 5: where we can be a big boy in the you know,
- 25:06Speaker 5: the sports broadcasting area. We don't don't pull the plug
- 25:10Speaker 5: on the NBA just yet for us becus we can
- 25:13Speaker 5: show you look, we're gonna get the we get the
- 25:15Speaker 5: final four, we're gonna get the college football playoffs. Why
- 25:18Speaker 5: wouldn't you just say if you would, you know, the NFL,
- 25:21Speaker 5: what what do you give us? What do you give
- 25:23Speaker 5: us for this random Christmas Day package?
- 25:26Speaker 6: Well, you know what I mean, there's like a bidding, right,
- 25:28Speaker 6: I mean like they yeah, and Fred's probably right, it's
- 25:31Speaker 6: like they got out it. Maybe they got out bid,
- 25:33Speaker 6: maybe they were but I just would wonder about that.
- 25:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I think there could be some other, you know,
- 25:40Speaker 3: strategic reason why they want to get people used to
- 25:44Speaker 3: watching it on streaming platforms, because at some point the
- 25:48Speaker 3: league might want to ills. Yeah, so I hope that
- 25:51Speaker 3: they never come.
- 25:52Speaker 6: I just wonder, you know, for people my age, like
- 25:55Speaker 6: a lot of people I know don't have cable, Like
- 25:58Speaker 6: they don't pay for it anymore. They have their court cutters, right,
- 26:02Speaker 6: and at some point is there.
- 26:04Speaker 5: You have all of them, because now they're really asking
- 26:07Speaker 5: you to get oh yeah, a variety of different.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Studies, Like if you want to watch every game, it's
- 26:13Speaker 3: like there's like nine different thousand dollars a year.
- 26:16Speaker 6: Yeah, So I think Fred, I think you're you're onto
- 26:19Speaker 6: something there that the future for the NFL might be
- 26:22Speaker 6: having their own streaming service.
- 26:24Speaker 8: But the weird part is that they have their own
- 26:25Speaker 8: network and they're totally just like cutting everything from it,
- 26:29Speaker 8: which is just I just random.
- 26:31Speaker 6: I think, like people are my age and younger, they
- 26:34Speaker 6: don't pay for NBC and cable and all this stuff anymore.
- 26:37Speaker 6: And I think the League thinks that maybe not you know,
- 26:41Speaker 6: my age, but like ten years younger than me, those
- 26:44Speaker 6: are our fans in twenty years. Yeah, like that that those.
- 26:47Speaker 3: People they might be making ten twenty years down.
- 26:50Speaker 5: I totally get that. I'm just I'm asking, you know,
- 26:54Speaker 5: like everybody has Netflix, but does everybody have Netflix and Prime?
- 27:01Speaker 3: Answer?
- 27:02Speaker 5: You know, like yeah, so is that like just young
- 27:05Speaker 5: people have more money than everybody else does?
- 27:07Speaker 3: Now?
- 27:08Speaker 6: I broke because we all have seventeens.
- 27:10Speaker 5: Because because all I've heard for the last ten years
- 27:12Speaker 5: is how President Biden has to save all the young
- 27:15Speaker 5: people because no one has any money, right and they
- 27:17Speaker 5: have to bail them all.
- 27:18Speaker 6: Out with the college money. This is all factional.
- 27:21Speaker 5: So I like, you can say you're cutting the cord
- 27:25Speaker 5: because you don't like the product. That makes all the
- 27:28Speaker 5: sense in the world to me, Like Cable's kind of
- 27:30Speaker 5: an antiquated product. You can't really tell me anymore that
- 27:33Speaker 5: you're cutting the cord to save money.
- 27:35Speaker 3: Well, no, I think because there are just too.
- 27:37Speaker 5: Many services that have too many different things that everybody's.
- 27:41Speaker 3: For me and you you're right, But I think for
- 27:42Speaker 3: some young kids, they're willing to give up some things
- 27:45Speaker 3: and just a la carte it because they feel they
- 27:48Speaker 3: are saving money.
- 27:50Speaker 5: You know, they might feel that way, but they're really not.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Well, if you want everything, you're right, but they don't
- 27:55Speaker 3: want everything.
- 27:55Speaker 5: But that's the NFL is going to require you to
- 27:57Speaker 5: want it.
- 27:58Speaker 2: No.
- 27:58Speaker 6: I know, you're right, it's app, it's Prime, it's Netflix.
- 28:01Speaker 3: But us sports fans, I think the young sports fans aren't,
- 28:05Speaker 3: you know, Like I've thought about cutting the court, and
- 28:07Speaker 3: I've looked into YouTube TV and you know, but I
- 28:11Speaker 3: want I want everything on four TVs because I have
- 28:14Speaker 3: four TVs, so I want everything on and I need
- 28:17Speaker 3: Wi Fi for my home because if you don't have
- 28:20Speaker 3: Wi Fi, then everything grinds to a halt, you know.
- 28:23Speaker 3: And And when I looked at it, and I'm like, Okay,
- 28:26Speaker 3: maybe I'm saving seventy five bucks a month, but I
- 28:29Speaker 3: don't have everything all in one place.
- 28:31Speaker 5: That's my point. If you if you have everything that
- 28:33Speaker 5: you want, it's really yeah, you know, six to one half.
- 28:37Speaker 3: I think people I think if Comcast is smart Exfinity
- 28:42Speaker 3: they'll figure out a way to bring down their prices
- 28:44Speaker 3: just enough to get the migration back well.
- 28:47Speaker 5: Plus they make it easy to bundle even those things
- 28:50Speaker 5: you can have yourself, Netflix, Exfinity.
- 28:53Speaker 3: I have not my phone because I use it from work,
- 28:56Speaker 3: but my wife's phone. We have our home security system landline,
- 29:00Speaker 3: which we don't use, but they bundle in any way,
- 29:03Speaker 3: Wi Fi in all our cable, all in one bill.
- 29:05Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, me too.
- 29:08Speaker 5: Now it's too high.
- 29:09Speaker 3: Yeah, it's way too high.
- 29:12Speaker 5: Iveryan.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Once I look at it, it's like Jesus, you know.
- 29:14Speaker 8: But it makes you feel like I got to call
- 29:17Speaker 8: them up, Like I feel like you should do this
- 29:18Speaker 8: once a year you call up, Hi, I'm going to
- 29:20Speaker 8: cut the service.
- 29:21Speaker 4: And go to streaming.
- 29:21Speaker 5: And that's whatever, you know. And I'm not saying you
- 29:26Speaker 5: want an individually.
- 29:26Speaker 4: You say that for me because I hate it.
- 29:28Speaker 5: Your generation is very good at being able to say no,
- 29:31Speaker 5: this is what I want and if you can't do
- 29:33Speaker 5: this then and I think I think that's it's one
- 29:36Speaker 5: of the things that I think that the young folks
- 29:39Speaker 5: have taught us. But you need to you need to
- 29:41Speaker 5: make that call.
- 29:41Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:42Speaker 6: The interesting of full disclosure for the young folks I
- 29:45Speaker 6: think a big part of our You said, you need everything, Well,
- 29:49Speaker 6: no we don't, because our parents have it or our
- 29:52Speaker 6: buddy has it, and now we have the password and
- 29:55Speaker 6: now it doesn't matter.
- 29:55Speaker 5: But that's different that I'm talking about. People don't want
- 29:58Speaker 5: to break the law, and I'm being that's the break.
- 30:01Speaker 3: If they clamp down on that through technology, then you're screwed.
- 30:05Speaker 5: At some point you have you run the risk of
- 30:07Speaker 5: losing it.
- 30:08Speaker 6: Yeah, so you know, we have Fubo and I get
- 30:13Speaker 6: for free. But that's a different conversation. We have Fubo,
- 30:16Speaker 6: but Fubo doesn't have TNT. It doesn't they don't have
- 30:19Speaker 6: an agreement with TNT to have TNT. So as a
- 30:21Speaker 6: huge basketball fan and now hockey's on TNT too, that
- 30:24Speaker 6: became a problem for us. We were like, well, we
- 30:26Speaker 6: can't watch the Bruins when they're on TNT, or I
- 30:28Speaker 6: can't watch the Celtics when they're on TNT. So HBO
- 30:31Speaker 6: Max has TNT. Who has HBO? Right, like my parents,
- 30:39Speaker 6: So who's HBO?
- 30:40Speaker 5: Do I use?
- 30:41Speaker 6: Mom and dads?
- 30:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 30:42Speaker 4: I never would have took you for sharer.
- 30:44Speaker 3: Yeah, And it's funny how like the different services like
- 30:47Speaker 3: HBO Max take on these things that are missing from
- 30:51Speaker 3: other packages.
- 30:52Speaker 8: Well this is me right now that HBO actually the
- 30:53Speaker 8: only one I don't have somehow through like all the
- 30:55Speaker 8: you know, when I could go sign up for whatever,
- 30:57Speaker 8: it's twenty bucks a month through.
- 30:59Speaker 4: But there's packages it's.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Like Disney Plus. You get Disney Plus now, and you
- 31:03Speaker 3: know I got that one.
- 31:04Speaker 6: But I'm telling you and I maybe it's illegal, I
- 31:06Speaker 6: don't know, but that that's what happens, you know. I
- 31:10Speaker 6: say to myself, I have my my parents password for
- 31:13Speaker 6: their Verizon account that gets you into all these streaming services.
- 31:17Speaker 6: And when we run into a roadblock, I just put it.
- 31:20Speaker 5: Absolutely and my dad and my kids do the same thing,
- 31:22Speaker 5: you know, like Will did it the whole his whole
- 31:25Speaker 5: year in college. So I'm not telling you like I'm
- 31:28Speaker 5: not finger wagging you.
- 31:29Speaker 6: No, I know, I'm just telling you this money there is,
- 31:33Speaker 6: like you know, as at some point that's not going
- 31:35Speaker 6: to be available to you.
- 31:36Speaker 5: At some point you have to pay for it. And
- 31:38Speaker 5: do you pay for everything?
- 31:40Speaker 2: Is?
- 31:40Speaker 5: You know? And and I think that's what the NFL
- 31:43Speaker 5: is sort of rolling the dice on and they're going
- 31:44Speaker 5: to say, we're going to get the hooks in these
- 31:46Speaker 5: people and they want every game. I personally don't care
- 31:49Speaker 5: if I miss a Christmas Day game. We talked about
- 31:51Speaker 5: this a couple of weeks ago. Some people will they'll say, no,
- 31:54Speaker 5: I want access to every game, and they'll make sure.
- 31:57Speaker 5: And I think that's what they're trying to do. When
- 31:59Speaker 5: it goes back to you or you know the Mark
- 32:01Speaker 5: Cuban line about the pigs getting slaughtered and like if
- 32:04Speaker 5: you if you're asking them to pay for nine different
- 32:07Speaker 5: ways to to watch a game, at some point a
- 32:11Speaker 5: good enough chunk is going to say I can't do that.
- 32:15Speaker 5: Then what do they do? Yeah, Like do they do?
- 32:18Speaker 5: They do the costs, you know that, you know the
- 32:20Speaker 5: cost analysis, and they try to see it's, well, whatever
- 32:23Speaker 5: we're losing percentage wise, we're gaining because we're charging more,
- 32:27Speaker 5: you know, and even though our audience is smaller, it's
- 32:30Speaker 5: we're generating more revenue. And that's ultimately the bottom line.
- 32:33Speaker 5: That's all we care about. Yeah, but I know they're
- 32:35Speaker 5: going to tell us that the rating. Brian McCarthy tells
- 32:38Speaker 5: me on Twitter every other day how the fans have
- 32:41Speaker 5: spoken to us. The ratings are through the roof. I
- 32:43Speaker 5: don't believe the ratings are through the roof. I don't
- 32:45Speaker 5: believe that they had as big as a rating for
- 32:48Speaker 5: a Christmas Day game with the Chiefs in the in
- 32:50Speaker 5: the the Raiders last year as they would have if
- 32:53Speaker 5: they put that on the weekend, you know, like a
- 32:55Speaker 5: regular weekend game. I don't believe that, but they'll tell
- 32:58Speaker 5: me that it was. The fan have spoken to us.
- 33:01Speaker 5: I don't know any fans who want games on Christmas,
- 33:05Speaker 5: but they tell us that the we don't.
- 33:07Speaker 3: Have to play as long as we're not playing in it.
- 33:10Speaker 5: I could legitimately go to a Christmas double header and
- 33:14Speaker 5: not see one play.
- 33:16Speaker 4: I won't complain about it until the PA, especially.
- 33:19Speaker 5: Like at least you could just say, well, it was
- 33:21Speaker 5: on the like on Thanksgiving. I don't religiously watch three
- 33:25Speaker 5: games on Thanksgiving either, but they're on. They're not going
- 33:30Speaker 5: to be by accident, Like when I have to go
- 33:32Speaker 5: in and sign in, it's not going to by accident,
- 33:35Speaker 5: just be on in the background.
- 33:36Speaker 8: It's such a unique sports thing too, because no, no,
- 33:38Speaker 8: the form of entertainment is somebody like, damn it, the
- 33:41Speaker 8: Emmys are on Hulu and I have to get who
- 33:43Speaker 8: you know. It's like sports are it like this is
- 33:46Speaker 8: people are so passionate about their teams, their sports, and.
- 33:48Speaker 6: It's only it's the only thing that is like the
- 33:54Speaker 6: all generations still care about. Like you just mentioned the Emmys.
- 33:58Speaker 8: A person watch other live event and I've never watched
- 34:02Speaker 8: the Parade is gonna be on Netflix this year, damn it. Yeah,
- 34:05Speaker 8: like these types of things, or you know, network television
- 34:08Speaker 8: like Chicago PD.
- 34:10Speaker 4: Right, you know you'll get it somewhere.
- 34:13Speaker 5: Fine to watch that.
- 34:15Speaker 6: Nope, Nope, Like and nobody under the age of thirty
- 34:18Speaker 6: one did that. But here's the thing that's where the cable
- 34:21Speaker 6: comes in. But that is obviously that's gone network television.
- 34:26Speaker 6: But like even even someone like me who still has
- 34:29Speaker 6: some interest in some some of my.
- 34:30Speaker 5: Programs, yeah, program your programs. I do not have a
- 34:34Speaker 5: single one that's my cy TV your stories, right, I
- 34:36Speaker 5: don't watch any of my stories because like every week,
- 34:40Speaker 5: if I'm home and I'm like, what's on? It's it's Tuesday,
- 34:43Speaker 5: what's on? You know? And well, you know I like
- 34:44Speaker 5: the FBI procedurals, Yeah, but I certainly don't DVR them.
- 34:49Speaker 5: I don't make sure that I got to be home
- 34:51Speaker 5: by eight to what. No, if it's on I'll.
- 34:52Speaker 8: Watch it, and you know that if you miss it,
- 34:54Speaker 8: all right, in a couple of weeks seventeen something free,
- 34:57Speaker 8: it'll be on again and the DVR and maybe I'll
- 34:59Speaker 8: watch two episodes together.
- 35:00Speaker 5: And it's not that right where it's like the Sopranos,
- 35:03Speaker 5: that's that every Sunday night that was appointment.
- 35:05Speaker 8: So Game of Thrones something like that, which is coming
- 35:07Speaker 8: back that you know, that's a little bit of I
- 35:09Speaker 8: guess yeah, if it still does. I don't know if
- 35:11Speaker 8: if the Dragon the new Dragon version, I don't know.
- 35:13Speaker 4: You liked it to you, that was.
- 35:15Speaker 6: Fine, you know how my attention I watch it.
- 35:19Speaker 3: People want to input on this. James pettigrew the most
- 35:22Speaker 3: interesting Patriots fan in the world. Could it be the
- 35:24Speaker 3: NFL or looking to stream on their own in the future.
- 35:27Speaker 3: It seems like breaking into streaming themselves could be even
- 35:30Speaker 3: easier than broadcasting over to rest. But that's what Evan said.
- 35:33Speaker 3: But you know, how do you can you make the
- 35:36Speaker 3: money doing it your own? That's the question more than
- 35:40Speaker 3: what the.
- 35:40Speaker 8: People given Netflix a game and Hulu a game and
- 35:43Speaker 8: everybody gets a game, or or.
- 35:45Speaker 3: You're still making the money from them, But you come
- 35:48Speaker 3: up with a package. So like if you don't have
- 35:49Speaker 3: all these other games, right, you get it there and
- 35:52Speaker 3: then the league pays back the streaming services. I don't
- 35:55Speaker 3: know if there's an economy there for that, but like
- 35:59Speaker 3: it could be extra revenue for the league to make
- 36:01Speaker 3: it simple. Well, you know, you'll watch it on our
- 36:04Speaker 3: platform and they'll pay back.
- 36:07Speaker 6: I just feel like this is a ten years from
- 36:09Speaker 6: now problems. Yeah, yeah, because like the ratings on network
- 36:12Speaker 6: TV for football games are still off the charts.
- 36:14Speaker 3: It's like nine out of the top ten shows every
- 36:17Speaker 3: year is NFL. So whether it's.
- 36:19Speaker 6: Through your parents or whatever, people my age and younger
- 36:22Speaker 6: are still finding ways to watch football on so you.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Can still watch the networks in general, you know. After
- 36:29Speaker 5: cutting the court, right, that's it, you know, So that's
- 36:31Speaker 5: not good.
- 36:31Speaker 6: So this is really more of like if cable ceased
- 36:34Speaker 6: to exist in ten years, what are they now do.
- 36:36Speaker 3: There's also a legal thing that the league has to
- 36:41Speaker 3: worry about, and it's the reason why that their whole
- 36:45Speaker 3: they're so dead set on keeping the games free in
- 36:47Speaker 3: the local markets. If they ever stop doing that where
- 36:52Speaker 3: everything went to cable or streaming and they didn't offer
- 36:55Speaker 3: them for free, I think there's a switch that the
- 36:59Speaker 3: politician could flip and start going after them for being
- 37:02Speaker 3: a monopoly or something like that. There's any trust, any
- 37:05Speaker 3: trust thing.
- 37:06Speaker 5: I think you're right about that, because I think there's
- 37:08Speaker 5: a reason why they still do that. In the local markets.
- 37:11Speaker 5: You can always get if your games on ESPN, it
- 37:13Speaker 5: will be shown on one of the local affiliates, right
- 37:18Speaker 5: and you know, streaming those games always have to be
- 37:20Speaker 5: available because not everybody has access to it.
- 37:24Speaker 3: And I think that was the way that that was
- 37:26Speaker 3: a swap that they did years ago, when you know
- 37:31Speaker 3: politicians were looking at them for any trust violations. You know.
- 37:36Speaker 3: So it's it's complicated, and that's why there's more lawyers
- 37:40Speaker 3: and Park Avenue than there are people who know football.
- 37:43Speaker 5: And I bring it up just because I thought it
- 37:45Speaker 5: would sort of spark some of that.
- 37:47Speaker 8: It's just it's annoying because it could all just be
- 37:49Speaker 8: so simple for the fans. You could just have the
- 37:51Speaker 8: Sunday ticket and you can watch any game you want
- 37:54Speaker 8: whenever at one place and you don't have to worry
- 37:56Speaker 8: about all this stuff that anymore.
- 37:58Speaker 3: Yeah, and freds on half baked theory about why the
- 38:01Speaker 3: NFL wants to go with streaming platforms. It's easier for
- 38:04Speaker 3: those platforms to proliferate and compete with one another than
- 38:08Speaker 3: it is for new networks to appear and compete. So
- 38:11Speaker 3: the NFL wants to go in that direction because streaming
- 38:14Speaker 3: platforms can pop up out of nowhere and drive up
- 38:17Speaker 3: the market. Also, I have no idea what I'm talking.
- 38:20Speaker 5: No, I get your point. I just I think that
- 38:23Speaker 5: you're underestimating the amount of networks that would be potentially interested.
- 38:27Speaker 3: Yeah, life was so much easier when Fred just pasted
- 38:31Speaker 3: the illegal game stream and curagion.
- 38:35Speaker 5: Do you remember that. It's amazing you never got in trouble.
- 38:37Speaker 4: I lived. I mean, I wish I knew about that,
- 38:39Speaker 4: because when I know it was initially.
- 38:42Speaker 6: It was always a mess and then like the like
- 38:45Speaker 6: pop ups, but you'd have to hit the right X
- 38:48Speaker 6: like to close it out, like if.
- 38:49Speaker 5: I never look at that stuff.
- 38:52Speaker 3: I never posted the stream, just so to be clear
- 38:55Speaker 3: that he was kidding.
- 38:56Speaker 5: He was.
- 38:56Speaker 3: I mean, other people might have in their posts, you know,
- 39:00Speaker 3: they might.
- 39:02Speaker 5: Vouch for this, because that was something that we were
- 39:05Speaker 5: all specifically told not to do. But it had ended
- 39:08Speaker 5: up in curse words, but not because Fred.
- 39:10Speaker 8: The other thing, I hate though halp me with the
- 39:12Speaker 8: Bruins was that I have, you know, an app on
- 39:14Speaker 8: my phone with notifications for the Bruins when they're playing
- 39:17Speaker 8: in the playoffs, and when it's on TNT, the delay
- 39:20Speaker 8: is so much that I'd get the like and I'm like,
- 39:22Speaker 8: oh boy, here, you know, and it'd be like a
- 39:24Speaker 8: goal is coming in the next minute, you know.
- 39:26Speaker 4: Like I hated that you have.
- 39:27Speaker 8: To like make sure you turn it off. A couple
- 39:29Speaker 8: of times I had goals scored where.
- 39:31Speaker 5: Even even TVs within my house, Oh yeah, it was
- 39:35Speaker 5: like ten seconds difference upstairs and downstairs, and the boys
- 39:38Speaker 5: were all downstairs, and I was like, sounds like we
- 39:42Speaker 5: just give up a goal.
- 39:43Speaker 3: We've got a private equity firm insider. I thought I
- 39:46Speaker 3: would offer my insight as I basically work for one
- 39:49Speaker 3: of these large private equity firms and have been in
- 39:52Speaker 3: the industry for about a decade. Streamers are able to
- 39:55Speaker 3: pay more than traditional networks. These streamers make a ton
- 39:58Speaker 3: of cash from their other business is like Amazon Web Services,
- 40:01Speaker 3: et cetera. Streamers can always pay more. If you want
- 40:04Speaker 3: to go international, you are better off putting games on streamers.
- 40:08Speaker 3: Ability availability is key. That's another good point. Second, as
- 40:12Speaker 3: an investor in sports media rights, ye, yeah, as an
- 40:17Speaker 3: investor in sports media rights historically and et cetera, I
- 40:20Speaker 3: am fairly sure that the thirty percent sale to private
- 40:23Speaker 3: equity firms is purely economic. What I mean is it
- 40:26Speaker 3: will likely be constructed in a way where private equity
- 40:29Speaker 3: firms will have no say in operations of the team,
- 40:33Speaker 3: only collect thirty percent of profits. Again, not one hundred
- 40:37Speaker 3: percent sure, but just based on what I have seen
- 40:39Speaker 3: in European soccer leagues and et cetera. Unlike the NFL,
- 40:42Speaker 3: soccer teams have been run very poorly overall, so they
- 40:46Speaker 3: don't need private equity to help them run well. Soccer
- 40:50Speaker 3: teams need the help. Okay, so they need the help,
- 40:54Speaker 3: I guess no salary job, Yeah, there's no, although the
- 40:58Speaker 3: Premier League is thinking of institution, which that's going to
- 41:01Speaker 3: be tough, but anyway, so no, But that's that's interesting
- 41:04Speaker 3: if they have no say and they just take. But
- 41:07Speaker 3: if they're paying what the market value is of like
- 41:10Speaker 3: ten percent of the team, you know, that's that's like
- 41:14Speaker 3: three hundred four hundred million dollars. How it's going to
- 41:17Speaker 3: take a while before you start seeing a profit on
- 41:19Speaker 3: that investment. I don't know. I don't know how that
- 41:22Speaker 3: will work economically. But the other point he made, like
- 41:24Speaker 3: you said, internationally, like it's a lot easier to be
- 41:28Speaker 3: on a streaming platform. Then that's on NBC, which.
- 41:33Speaker 5: Is my whole TNT thing is, you know, it's ucialst
- 41:36Speaker 5: for someone in Australia if that's where they're going, right,
- 41:39Speaker 5: Oh god, hope.
- 41:40Speaker 6: Like I'll give you I'll give you a real I
- 41:42Speaker 6: don't want to go to Austintralia.
- 41:44Speaker 5: I would actually I couldn't. I wouldn't mind.
- 41:47Speaker 3: I'll give you a real world example. The Tom Brady
- 41:50Speaker 3: Day on June twelfth. We're going to stream that live
- 41:54Speaker 3: on Patriots dot Com. It's available to the world now. Yeah,
- 41:57Speaker 3: you know, we don't have to worry about you know,
- 42:00Speaker 3: if you have a good Internet connection, you'll be able
- 42:02Speaker 3: to watch it wherever you are.
- 42:04Speaker 4: Yeah, you know that's good. I was actually thinking about
- 42:06Speaker 4: that this morning, Freddy.
- 42:07Speaker 8: That's got to be a little bit like I'm imagining
- 42:09Speaker 8: you calling the web guys being like, look, this thing
- 42:12Speaker 8: can't crash, and.
- 42:14Speaker 3: I'll do a shout out because they are a league partner.
- 42:16Speaker 3: Amazon Web Services is handling you know, what we call
- 42:20Speaker 3: the content distribution network. So after we encoded, it goes
- 42:24Speaker 3: to their servers all over the world and when you're
- 42:27Speaker 3: watching it, you're watching it off of AWS.
- 42:31Speaker 4: So yeah, the technical stuff, man, it's scary.
- 42:35Speaker 6: AWS is crazy, Like that's a crazy rabbit hole of
- 42:38Speaker 6: what all the things.
- 42:39Speaker 5: That they do.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Yeah, and them and Google.
- 42:41Speaker 6: Yeah, like all the next gen stuff is powered, is
- 42:44Speaker 6: like running with Amazon technology.
- 42:46Speaker 4: When we went to La Me and Lane, we had
- 42:48Speaker 4: a night.
- 42:48Speaker 8: We took a night in the hotel, just get away
- 42:50Speaker 8: and we're just chilling at the pool. It was awesome,
- 42:53Speaker 8: and they were just like these two random strangers who
- 42:55Speaker 8: just started talking like when you're just hearing the whole country.
- 42:57Speaker 8: But they both happened to work for AWS.
- 43:00Speaker 3: Would oh you know this guy?
- 43:01Speaker 4: Like you know that? That just the scope of that
- 43:03Speaker 4: company just seems incredible.
- 43:05Speaker 5: I thought they were going to be talking about the
- 43:07Speaker 5: Patriots and you were like trying to bite your tongue
- 43:09Speaker 5: because no one knew what they were talking. Oh no,
- 43:11Speaker 5: otherwise known as the Brian Moriism.
- 43:14Speaker 4: Really see, I just like listening and uh and seeing
- 43:16Speaker 4: that happen.
- 43:17Speaker 6: The other night at the Celtics game, the guys behind
- 43:19Speaker 6: us during like a downtime or break or whatever start.
- 43:23Speaker 6: So what do you think of the Drake May pick?
- 43:24Speaker 6: Because he was there, Drake May was at the game,
- 43:26Speaker 6: and every time that happens, just just looks at me
- 43:28Speaker 6: and laughs and is like.
- 43:30Speaker 5: Now Brian would turn around and engage the.
- 43:32Speaker 8: Company and tell him what he would tell and like
- 43:34Speaker 8: wag him about right like and some random stranger.
- 43:37Speaker 5: Couldn't he could not bite his tongue for more than
- 43:39Speaker 5: thirty seconds.
- 43:39Speaker 4: Are you never getting random fights with people.
- 43:42Speaker 5: All the time?
- 43:42Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 43:43Speaker 3: Oh, we'd be in the press box. Oh yeah, and
- 43:45Speaker 3: you know it's a three tier press box, so we're
- 43:47Speaker 3: in the top tier and you know you're overlooking people
- 43:50Speaker 3: below and you can hear what they're saying, and two
- 43:53Speaker 3: people would be having a conversation, not even and he
- 43:56Speaker 3: would just intercheck somebody else.
- 43:58Speaker 5: He'd have to goround and correct. Oh yeah, no, no, no,
- 44:00Speaker 5: he can't help himself.
- 44:02Speaker 3: But ever put your put up.
- 44:04Speaker 8: Your dukes were going at it because I don't want
- 44:05Speaker 8: I don't care for your opinions.
- 44:06Speaker 5: You want to next time you're saying you want to
- 44:08Speaker 5: get in a fight with him, tell him that Bill
- 44:11Speaker 5: Parcells saved the Patriots. Really when when Parcells came here, well,
- 44:15Speaker 5: I'll fight you too, no, but not like him when
- 44:18Speaker 5: Parcells came here. That's when the season ticket holders came
- 44:21Speaker 5: say that he will not be able to let it
- 44:23Speaker 5: go for more than ten seconds before he corrects you
- 44:26Speaker 5: and said no. Actually when they lined up for the
- 44:28Speaker 5: season tickets. It was when Robert Kraft bought the team
- 44:32Speaker 5: the next year. And he will correct every latter detail.
- 44:36Speaker 3: He was basically challenged to a duel by Gil Santos.
- 44:39Speaker 3: All Right, we were we were in a bar. It
- 44:43Speaker 3: was either Pittsburgh or Chansas City, and uh, Gil Santos said,
- 44:47Speaker 3: I ought to slap you. He said that to Brian
- 44:50Speaker 3: because Brian, I don't know, called him a liar or something.
- 44:53Speaker 5: And I think he could. I think he did.
- 44:54Speaker 3: I think he called him yeah and yeah, and then
- 44:57Speaker 3: and then Gino Cappelletti, Jesus almost fought him on the
- 45:01Speaker 3: golf course.
- 45:02Speaker 5: Geno Capilletti is what I would call one of the
- 45:05Speaker 5: is a gentleman perfect Yeah, just Brian ultimate gentleman. Yeah,
- 45:10Speaker 5: and Brian and he got Brian, got him to the
- 45:13Speaker 5: point where we wanted.
- 45:13Speaker 3: To Brian Bryan for a little while. Brian says Gino
- 45:18Speaker 3: accused him of cheating on his score, you know, and
- 45:21Speaker 3: so they got into it.
- 45:22Speaker 5: And Brian, Brian told him counter's own strokes. Yeah, very confrontationally. Yeah,
- 45:28Speaker 5: but yeah, I love Brian.
- 45:30Speaker 8: What was it like for you when these two must
- 45:32Speaker 8: have gotten into it, Paul and Maury? That must have
- 45:34Speaker 8: been like the show fifty minutes of them just got.
- 45:38Speaker 5: My bomb out of him?
- 45:39Speaker 8: That that's where I would sit back and oh, yeah,
- 45:42Speaker 8: I can see it the of the side eye from Fred.
- 45:47Speaker 5: Yeah, when he would get me and Brian going that.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Yeah, Brian could get under your skin like a tick.
- 45:54Speaker 8: Well, it seems because you knew where he stood on things,
- 45:57Speaker 8: and so you if you wanted to dabble in that territory,
- 45:59Speaker 8: it was easy goes.
- 46:00Speaker 5: I tell you all the time, I know that I
- 46:02Speaker 5: can be like an sob to argue with because I
- 46:05Speaker 5: get so snarky and stubborn. Brian did it to the
- 46:09Speaker 5: tenth degree and had no idea that he was doing it.
- 46:11Speaker 5: I am very self aware that I can be all right,
- 46:14Speaker 5: tone it down a little bit a whole you know,
- 46:17Speaker 5: you're just having a sports discussion. Brian was on ten
- 46:20Speaker 5: all the time. Now, I also knew Brian really well
- 46:24Speaker 5: before we have a work together because we played together
- 46:26Speaker 5: at be you you know, so what.
- 46:28Speaker 4: Was he like as a baseball player?
- 46:30Speaker 8: He must be yes, the way he is, I'll tell you.
- 46:33Speaker 5: I'll tell his story. So I got together with a
- 46:37Speaker 5: bunch of guys that I used to play with. This
- 46:39Speaker 5: is like a year after I started working, and he goes.
- 46:41Speaker 5: One of the guys goes, so, what the hell made
- 46:44Speaker 5: you go work with Maury?
- 46:47Speaker 3: That's funny, It was very funny. All right, let's see Howard,
- 46:55Speaker 3: oh boy. The only thing I want to purchase from
- 46:59Speaker 3: the NFL is a to see my team's games with
- 47:02Speaker 3: the home announcers. There are sixteen games I truly care about,
- 47:06Speaker 3: and I don't want to pay three eighty nine to
- 47:08Speaker 3: get a bunch of games I don't care about. I
- 47:10Speaker 3: got too much to do on Sunday to spend an
- 47:12Speaker 3: entire day and night watching football. I'm I'm an existing
- 47:17Speaker 3: YouTube TV, and I still will not pay for it.
- 47:21Speaker 5: You know, they don't have games with on TV.
- 47:23Speaker 4: With home and we can get films, that's a good
- 47:26Speaker 4: one to have. I mean, we get the radio calls.
- 47:28Speaker 4: I mean we've we've had.
- 47:29Speaker 8: I don't know, like brainstorms and stuff about this stuff.
- 47:31Speaker 8: But it's just that seems like a no brainer to me.
- 47:33Speaker 8: It's probably they couldn't. They're not gouging you for enough money,
- 47:35Speaker 8: but just to be able to say, I subscribe to
- 47:37Speaker 8: the Patriots on NFL plus plus plus whatever it is,
- 47:40Speaker 8: and you get all the games that you like, he wants.
- 47:43Speaker 4: You could get the radio broadcast if you want.
- 47:44Speaker 8: You get all the access to NFL films, everything ever
- 47:47Speaker 8: made about the Patriots, three games to go, everything you know,
- 47:49Speaker 8: all right there, just for a fan of the one
- 47:51Speaker 8: team who doesn't need it's dreamer.
- 47:52Speaker 5: When Fred used to talk about this, it might even
- 47:54Speaker 5: before you were here, Evan about the when they first
- 47:57Speaker 5: started the plus. That was the advent of the plug.
- 47:59Speaker 5: We got plus it up plus everything, and you said,
- 48:02Speaker 5: what kind of things would you want? Well, that would
- 48:03Speaker 5: be something if I were just a random fan living
- 48:06Speaker 5: in like Wyoming, I want Patriots Plus on the NFL platform,
- 48:11Speaker 5: the NFL Plus platform, there's a channel for Patriots. So
- 48:15Speaker 5: while I'm watching the games, I can I can choose
- 48:17Speaker 5: to watch the live network feed of the game whatever
- 48:20Speaker 5: it happens to be on. But I can do what
- 48:22Speaker 5: they do in the college football and there's a there's
- 48:25Speaker 5: a home telecast, you know, and you know, I don't know,
- 48:28Speaker 5: maybe it's Mike and Paul, you know, you know, maybe
- 48:31Speaker 5: there's an Ex's and O's channel that that Evan. No,
- 48:35Speaker 5: I'm being dead serious, like I.
- 48:37Speaker 6: Would pay for that Thursday Night football.
- 48:40Speaker 5: If I if I was like really into it, I
- 48:42Speaker 5: would pay for a platform or I can watch three
- 48:45Speaker 5: or four different versions of my team's game without having
- 48:49Speaker 5: to pay for every game.
- 48:51Speaker 6: So I don't know if they still do it. But
- 48:53Speaker 6: when I was living out of state, the NBA used
- 48:57Speaker 6: to allow you to just buy your team. So I
- 49:01Speaker 6: had just had the Celtics, and then there was also
- 49:04Speaker 6: I don't know if it was an NBA MLB that
- 49:06Speaker 6: it was three teams. You could do three teams or
- 49:09Speaker 6: the whole league, and so it was cheap obviously cheaper
- 49:13Speaker 6: to do the the other one. So I for NBA.
- 49:15Speaker 6: I remember specifically, I didn't have the thirty teams. I
- 49:18Speaker 6: had just access to Mike Gorman and the Boston Celtics
- 49:22Speaker 6: and that was it, and it was great. It was
- 49:24Speaker 6: like one hundred bucks. Yeah, for the whole season.
- 49:26Speaker 8: That's it makes too much sense. That's why they're like no,
- 49:28Speaker 8: we got to get them at least three hundred and
- 49:29Speaker 8: make them pay for everything.
- 49:30Speaker 5: It was awesome. Yeah, just skick because no one's going
- 49:32Speaker 5: to pay it.
- 49:33Speaker 6: And you could also get the radio call through the
- 49:35Speaker 6: app on your phone, so when I was driving home,
- 49:37Speaker 6: if the game was on, when I was driving home,
- 49:38Speaker 6: I could listen to the radio call.
- 49:41Speaker 4: How was the latency on that?
- 49:44Speaker 3: Shut up?
- 49:46Speaker 4: I just love when Fred goes into like latency time.
- 49:49Speaker 5: Latency, that's what that's what will and TJ said, ye,
- 49:52Speaker 5: knowing McDonald's Wi Fi.
- 49:54Speaker 3: But you know what's easier and navigating all these streaming
- 49:57Speaker 3: services is drinking bud Light. It's easy you to drink,
- 50:00Speaker 3: it's easy to enjoy. But Light the official beer sponsor
- 50:04Speaker 3: of the New England Patriots. In and by the way, if
- 50:06Speaker 3: you want to see Toyota's best offers, including those not
- 50:09Speaker 3: seen on TV, go to buy at toyota dot com.
- 50:12Speaker 3: It's Toyota's official website for deals from the official vehicle
- 50:15Speaker 3: the New England Patriots. Toyota. Let's go streaming?
- 50:19Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yeah, So what's going on in the Cape
- 50:23Speaker 4: this weekend? Fred?
- 50:23Speaker 9: You ready for I gotta put my I gotta put
- 50:26Speaker 9: my bunting out. Yeah, on the house, I said, I know,
- 50:29Speaker 9: we talked about that. You put, I do put bunting
- 50:36Speaker 9: Patrioto patriotic.
- 50:37Speaker 3: Good for you, for sure.
- 50:38Speaker 5: Yeah, a lot of people are afraid to do that
- 50:40Speaker 5: stuff nowadays.
- 50:41Speaker 4: Well, your house probably has a colonial vibe, right because
- 50:43Speaker 4: it's old and.
- 50:44Speaker 3: Three and thirty years old.
- 50:46Speaker 4: That's right.
- 50:46Speaker 5: So I came with the original dialectically.
- 50:48Speaker 3: Yeah, now I put the bunting.
- 50:50Speaker 5: Betsy Ross was gonna say, Betsy Ross.
- 50:53Speaker 4: She did the bunting herself.
- 50:54Speaker 3: She wasn't even alive when this house was built.
- 50:57Speaker 4: That's crazy.
- 50:58Speaker 3: Let's see. Yeah, it's good math from Wisconsin. Yeah, Evan
- 51:02Speaker 3: was right. I was wrong. I saw a post of
- 51:04Speaker 3: may Or Milton during a footwork drill. May look fine,
- 51:07Speaker 3: if not great, Milton looked like a disaster. I go
- 51:11Speaker 3: to the comments and a ton of people we're talking
- 51:13Speaker 3: about how Milton is the future and how he would
- 51:15Speaker 3: be starting by week two and how six round patriots pick.
- 51:19Speaker 3: We know how that goes. I absolutely hate it.
- 51:22Speaker 8: That's funny, and I don't think there's really much chance
- 51:25Speaker 8: of that happening unless.
- 51:27Speaker 6: Yeah, I've moved on from being peeved about the reps
- 51:30Speaker 6: to being peeved about other things that it comes to
- 51:33Speaker 6: Drake May. So now I'm just peeved about like every
- 51:37Speaker 6: day on Paul shows, which I do listen to as well,
- 51:40Speaker 6: So we don't have just calm Paul shows, but every
- 51:43Speaker 6: day on Paul shows. Now it's a different mechanical.
- 51:46Speaker 5: It is where we are, you know radio.
- 51:48Speaker 6: At first it started with the shoulder hitch. Oh he's
- 51:51Speaker 6: got a shoulder. Now he taps the ball. Now he's
- 51:55Speaker 6: patting the ball in the pocket.
- 51:56Speaker 3: You know who padded the ball?
- 51:58Speaker 6: I know, Well that's what stems from around here at least.
- 52:02Speaker 5: But yeah, now passes for forty five hundred yards.
- 52:06Speaker 6: The ball and everybody, you know, everybody is an expert, right,
- 52:09Speaker 6: everybody is a quarterback mechanic guru, we all we all know,
- 52:13Speaker 6: but what it's all supposed to look like and everything
- 52:15Speaker 6: like that. So yeah, now the issue is that he's
- 52:17Speaker 6: patting the ball.
- 52:18Speaker 8: I just refuse to believe that Mac Jones was so
- 52:20Speaker 8: technically sound that he was like beyond reproach off any
- 52:23Speaker 8: of his mechanics like like that we couldn't have been
- 52:24Speaker 8: having these same conversations about something with Mac. Like it's
- 52:28Speaker 8: just weird how things come up you know, like this
- 52:30Speaker 8: is what it is.
- 52:31Speaker 6: It's I think Paul said it the other day. It's
- 52:33Speaker 6: we knew coming in that he had mechanical issues. So
- 52:36Speaker 6: now our eyes are going, what are what are they
- 52:39Speaker 6: to pick them out?
- 52:40Speaker 3: Yeah, Richard New York, big fan of the show. The
- 52:42Speaker 3: NFL Sunday Ticket is the best thing since light YouTube
- 52:46Speaker 3: is much better for it than when it was on
- 52:48Speaker 3: AT and T the only live shows they watch of sports.
- 52:50Speaker 3: There is no more Musty TV. But it seems like
- 52:53Speaker 3: all these bundling services are just a new version of cable.
- 52:56Speaker 2: Yep.
- 52:57Speaker 6: Yeah, so I think there is must cy TV for
- 53:00Speaker 6: for US streamers, but it's just it's just different, you know.
- 53:05Speaker 6: And obviously it's mostly like on Netflix and like those
- 53:08Speaker 6: platforms and stuff like that. But like people my age,
- 53:11Speaker 6: like everybody I know is what has seen Love is Blind?
- 53:14Speaker 6: Like that is I mean, I don't know if it's
- 53:16Speaker 6: like the Sopranos. Obviously it's not award winning television, but
- 53:18Speaker 6: like at the same time, like that's a show that
- 53:21Speaker 6: is a cultural phenomenon among appointment televig Yeah, you know,
- 53:25Speaker 6: and everybody everybody's watched that, well, everybody, Like I think
- 53:29Speaker 6: a lot of people you know that are into more
- 53:32Speaker 6: like dramas or scripted TV have watched The Bear like that.
- 53:36Speaker 6: Every all my friends I watched The Bear. All my
- 53:38Speaker 6: friends have watched The Bear. All my friends have watched
- 53:40Speaker 6: Love Is Blind.
- 53:41Speaker 5: I honestly don't look at shows like The Bear, and
- 53:44Speaker 5: there's a lot of them that I've watched on the
- 53:45Speaker 5: streaming services like The Bear. I don't look at that
- 53:48Speaker 5: any differently than I look at like the network shows. Well,
- 53:52Speaker 5: I think I think that you can say that one's
- 53:54Speaker 5: better in terms of quality. Yeah, I'm not arguing, and
- 53:56Speaker 5: I think I.
- 53:57Speaker 3: Put them under the category of water cooler shows like
- 54:00Speaker 3: these are shows that everybody's watching so you can talk
- 54:02Speaker 3: about it. Seinfeld used to be that way, you know
- 54:05Speaker 3: those they called it musty TV cheers and you wasn't
- 54:09Speaker 3: last night's Cheers good and you wanted to be part
- 54:11Speaker 3: of the conversation. You didn't want to miss it, so
- 54:14Speaker 3: you knew what everyone was talking about. Plus it was
- 54:16Speaker 3: really good.
- 54:16Speaker 6: Yeah, you know why you notice another one everybody?
- 54:20Speaker 8: But now you have that anxiety of like, have you
- 54:22Speaker 8: seen this show? And I don't have that stream right,
- 54:25Speaker 8: I just don't have that much time. You feel like
- 54:27Speaker 8: damn it, I too much. Yeah, that's how I'm sorry.
- 54:31Speaker 8: I wish like you know, and you could see this
- 54:32Speaker 8: as a person says, oh I don't have or I
- 54:36Speaker 8: haven't or even just I haven't seen it, like even
- 54:38Speaker 8: if I haven't, because there's so much. There's just such
- 54:40Speaker 8: a massive television and it's hard to and it's good stuff,
- 54:43Speaker 8: and there is good stuff in there, but it's hard
- 54:45Speaker 8: to find it and it's hard to you know, unless
- 54:47Speaker 8: you hear from somebody.
- 54:48Speaker 3: Yeah a route right, Yeah, a bunch of yelling, toughs.
- 54:53Speaker 3: Lacrosse is practicing here. They're in the final four.
- 54:57Speaker 6: Where's Andy?
- 54:58Speaker 4: Yeah? I love that.
- 54:59Speaker 5: That's why I said, Yeah, what was That's what he
- 55:00Speaker 5: would say. I was with a gentleman that new Andy
- 55:05Speaker 5: had a wedding over the weekend, like the baseball coach.
- 55:08Speaker 5: Oh yeah, they have a lot of nice things to
- 55:09Speaker 5: say about him. No, I actually played with them one
- 55:12Speaker 5: hundred years ago in park League, so I know him
- 55:14Speaker 5: a little bit. Lacrosse back to that Freddy next year.
- 55:19Speaker 8: Yeah, the year countdown for the Final four. That's good
- 55:24Speaker 8: because I told TJ we got some lax bros in
- 55:26Speaker 8: our family.
- 55:26Speaker 5: Now, yeah, maybe we got TJ said, I would definitely
- 55:29Speaker 5: want to go to that, so it's a good take.
- 55:31Speaker 5: I might have to see if I can get myself
- 55:33Speaker 5: a uh.
- 55:33Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I went down to Brown One.
- 55:35Speaker 5: Take a little club action for that. Want to go,
- 55:40Speaker 5: We'll be in the we'll be into club.
- 55:41Speaker 4: Evan was a superstar lacross player.
- 55:43Speaker 6: He could come to that's a stretch, But I did
- 55:46Speaker 6: every year that it was here throughout my entire high school.
- 55:50Speaker 6: I remember it being here and we were we all
- 55:52Speaker 6: we went to every single one. Yeah, and like would
- 55:55Speaker 6: stay for like the entire even the D two and
- 55:57Speaker 6: D three championship day we went too. So we would
- 56:00Speaker 6: go to the whole weekend and you always get you know,
- 56:03Speaker 6: some free stuff and stuff like that.
- 56:05Speaker 5: And yeah, that'll be one of those things. If we
- 56:07Speaker 5: could get like you know, the club or something and
- 56:09Speaker 5: get club seats, then maybe I would go. Otherwise I'd
- 56:12Speaker 5: be like, yeah, yeah, you would.
- 56:13Speaker 4: Your friends get the cookies, will load up the cookies.
- 56:15Speaker 4: We'll get it and we'll get it all set up.
- 56:17Speaker 5: You make it sound so perfect. Cookies, orange slices cookie.
- 56:22Speaker 6: I'm not just saying this because I played. It is
- 56:25Speaker 6: a super underrated sport. To watch the skill and like
- 56:29Speaker 6: the speed and all that. It's d one, like you know,
- 56:32Speaker 6: Championship weekend. Lacrosse is honestly fast, fastest.
- 56:35Speaker 3: Sport on two feet.
- 56:36Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, Bill, I totally agree with just the blown
- 56:41Speaker 5: away by the skill and I both sides. I mean,
- 56:44Speaker 5: it's what sports do I criticize more than any other thread.
- 56:47Speaker 3: I don't know, women's gymnastic soccer.
- 56:49Speaker 5: Come on, that's an easy one, Okay. I would tell
- 56:52Speaker 5: you that I'm blown away by the skill of high
- 56:55Speaker 5: level soccer when you see it, watch just the things
- 56:58Speaker 5: that they can do running with the ball. It's doesn't
- 57:00Speaker 5: mean it's a compelling sport to watch. And I kind
- 57:02Speaker 5: of put lacrosse in that. Yeah, I watch it, my
- 57:04Speaker 5: son plays it. He loves it. Well, it's I think,
- 57:08Speaker 5: And I watched the NCAA. I think, you know, so
- 57:10Speaker 5: it's not like I just see high school. There's not
- 57:12Speaker 5: a good life.
- 57:12Speaker 3: They're trying to make it more appealing to the mass audience.
- 57:15Speaker 3: They've made some rule changes. Now they have the shot clock,
- 57:18Speaker 3: you know.
- 57:18Speaker 5: Which they need to do that in high school.
- 57:20Speaker 3: They did that. They changed the face off so you
- 57:22Speaker 3: don't have two guys wrestling for a minute, you know,
- 57:25Speaker 3: just to get the ball and play, you know, but
- 57:30Speaker 3: they do, you know, they do realize that they can
- 57:32Speaker 3: tweak it a little bit to make it more appealing
- 57:34Speaker 3: to you know, and they are.
- 57:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 57:37Speaker 6: I just I love playing it and I love I
- 57:40Speaker 6: love watching it too, And I just think that it's
- 57:42Speaker 6: it's underrated. Like it's the game's really fast.
- 57:45Speaker 5: It's a lot.
- 57:45Speaker 4: It's hockey and basketball and soccer, yea, all these.
- 57:50Speaker 3: You know.
- 57:50Speaker 6: I think it reminds me probably the most because of
- 57:52Speaker 6: like the zone, you know, the zones and the off
- 57:54Speaker 6: side rules and stuff like that of hockey, I would say,
- 57:57Speaker 6: but it's in general, it's just it's great. And uh,
- 58:00Speaker 6: they're super talented, I think. And I've seen the talent
- 58:04Speaker 6: level increase as it's gotten more popular. And you know,
- 58:08Speaker 6: back in my high school, you start now in the
- 58:10Speaker 6: sixth grade, like if you're identified as like a lacrosse player.
- 58:14Speaker 6: In my town, our varsity coach has sixth grade all
- 58:17Speaker 6: throughout entire high school covered now year round. So like
- 58:20Speaker 6: when I started playing, like we had never picked up
- 58:22Speaker 6: a stick before.
- 58:24Speaker 5: TJ just picked it up.
- 58:25Speaker 6: Now, these kids, they've all been playing for years.
- 58:29Speaker 3: And now they have fathers, fathers who can coach who
- 58:32Speaker 3: played where right past you didn't have that. You're absolutely
- 58:35Speaker 3: you know, there would be one guy in your town
- 58:37Speaker 3: who played lacrosse at Hobart and he'd be the guy
- 58:40Speaker 3: that started the league, but he was the only one
- 58:42Speaker 3: that could really coach.
- 58:43Speaker 5: That's a great point, you know. I noticed that. And
- 58:45Speaker 5: because you're dealing with some different parents that you haven't
- 58:48Speaker 5: really your kid hasn't played sports with, you know, and
- 58:51Speaker 5: like they're all lacrosse people, you know, that's right, some
- 58:55Speaker 5: of them still play, like in men's league.
- 58:57Speaker 3: It's wild.
- 58:58Speaker 6: Even like when I was in high school, like the
- 59:00Speaker 6: freshman that would come in like my senior year, how
- 59:02Speaker 6: much better they were than us. And actually at lacrosse,
- 59:05Speaker 6: like athletically we were all probably at the same level,
- 59:08Speaker 6: but like you know, passing, catching like things like that,
- 59:11Speaker 6: they were just so far beyond.
- 59:12Speaker 4: You must have you must have liked. I mean, I
- 59:13Speaker 4: feel like running an offense.
- 59:15Speaker 8: And lacrosse is like basketball though with all cutters and screens,
- 59:18Speaker 8: and I mean that that to me, I.
- 59:20Speaker 6: Played defense and triangles and and everything about defense I
- 59:26Speaker 6: think would probably be to me is similar to hockey,
- 59:28Speaker 6: where like it's all but staying away from the net
- 59:31Speaker 6: front right, like you're trying to funnel guys to the
- 59:34Speaker 6: outside and like keep people. You don't want high danger chances.
- 59:38Speaker 6: Like if you give up a shot from like outside,
- 59:41Speaker 6: the goalie is supposed to save it, Like it's not
- 59:43Speaker 6: on you as a defender. If you give up a
- 59:45Speaker 6: shot from twenty feet away, that's that's on the goalie.
- 59:47Speaker 6: You're supposed to be able to stop those.
- 59:49Speaker 4: Yeah, that's it's a zone hockey stuff, good stuff.
- 59:52Speaker 3: Let's get to the phones. Eight five five pass five
- 59:54Speaker 3: hundred is the ace ticket hut line to go to Todd,
- 59:56Speaker 3: North Carolina. What's up Todd?
- 59:59Speaker 10: Well, he's been a very pausitive.
- 1:00:01Speaker 11: I'm going to keep it on that.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: So I want one thing that the pass could do
- 1:00:05Speaker 3: this year that would make it more successful on each
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: side of the ball.
- 1:00:09Speaker 12: And I'll give mine and I'll take your.
- 1:00:11Speaker 3: Okay, one thing they can do on each side of
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: the ball. Go ahead. I thought he said he's going
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: to give his. I didn't click, Todd. I didn't do anything, Todd,
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: Todd Todd, So we didn't get his. But anyway, it's
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: about Drake By. Yeah, one thing they can do development
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: better on each side of the ball.
- 1:00:29Speaker 4: Score touchdowns.
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: That was snarky that well, yeah, I mean quarterback player,
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: like more yards after catchup?
- 1:00:38Speaker 5: Can we can we have some signs that Drake May
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: is going you know what this kid's going.
- 1:00:43Speaker 8: To be Okay, Yeah, that would be a very positive
- 1:00:46Speaker 8: I would say turnovers, turnovers and creating more and I think.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: That's been a point of emphasis.
- 1:00:51Speaker 5: I would just say, can they show that the defense
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: is legitimately good even without Belichick and no smoking mirrors?
- 1:01:00Speaker 8: Yeah, Like, I mean, you know, and I think it's
- 1:01:02Speaker 8: always we had this conversation before.
- 1:01:03Speaker 4: It's it's in the context of, like you don't.
- 1:01:06Speaker 8: Really necessarily feel like Bill had his fastball against some
- 1:01:08Speaker 8: of the great quarterbacks in recent years, especially you know,
- 1:01:11Speaker 8: Alan and Tua. But you know, can they pull out
- 1:01:13Speaker 8: a game plan against one, you know, Burrow week one
- 1:01:16Speaker 8: and you know, I know he's coming off an injury,
- 1:01:17Speaker 8: so that'll probably be like, you know, it would be
- 1:01:19Speaker 8: like the Bruins thing, where like, oh they were.
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: Rusty, but like for the season, can they show you that? Like,
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: because Evan and I have sort of gone back and
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: forth a little bit. Evan's higher on the personnel, the
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: individual personnel. I am higher on like sort of the
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: whole being greater than the sum of.
- 1:01:34Speaker 4: The punts, like the scheme.
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: Yeah, the circumstances what show that it's not what I
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: think and show what's more with everythings?
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: Yeah, guy's making place. Yeah.
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: Yeah, let's go to Christian in LA. What's up Christian?
- 1:01:49Speaker 10: Here, you guys get to hear from you. I have
- 1:01:52Speaker 10: a big connection today, so I'll be able to actually
- 1:01:54Speaker 10: get my question in. Okay, what do you guys think
- 1:01:58Speaker 10: about taking a play in these two players? I understand
- 1:02:01Speaker 10: we have a little bit of money left in the
- 1:02:02Speaker 10: Coffers spend this year. Could we bolster the defense by
- 1:02:07Speaker 10: maybe instead of taking Stephen Gilmore, taking like an Exavian
- 1:02:10Speaker 10: Howard or Dorrie Jackson. And then would you guys be
- 1:02:13Speaker 10: open to taking a flyer on Michael Thomas?
- 1:02:17Speaker 5: No, No, not interested in Michael Thomas. I would be
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: interested in any of those. Well, I would be interested
- 1:02:24Speaker 5: in Howard or Gilmour, not necessarily Jackson. But yeah, I
- 1:02:27Speaker 5: would take any of those three corners, but the other
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: two would be higher priority. I would do that. I
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: think they need some depth at corner, and I like
- 1:02:34Speaker 5: the idea of one of them being sort of a
- 1:02:36Speaker 5: veteran yeah, you're not asking to go out. I mean,
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: Gonzalez is going to go out and probably get that
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: a assignment every week, So you're not asking him to
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: save your defense, you know, just be part of the
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: part of the puzzle. I would be in favor of that.
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: And I would like the option every once in a
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: while to put you know, when you're really against a
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: good offense on Gonzales on their number two and have
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: two adequate corners that you could double on their number one.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: You know, when when you feel like you need.
- 1:03:03Speaker 8: To do that.
- 1:03:04Speaker 10: You know, that's what bunkts to do, right, to take
- 1:03:07Speaker 10: away there their top receiver instead of.
- 1:03:09Speaker 13: Turning a lot to die down.
- 1:03:11Speaker 10: And yeah, Brandon Brown, well it.
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: Depended on the matchup. Yeah, yeah, he would, he would,
- 1:03:17Speaker 5: uh definitely, very thanks Christian. His uh his point, his point,
- 1:03:22Speaker 5: because if you know, in other words, if it was
- 1:03:27Speaker 5: Gonzales against a you know, maybe a shorter, shiftier kind
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: of guy, he might go to the double on that
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: guy instead. But if it was just sort of like
- 1:03:36Speaker 5: Gilmore is going to play against, you know, I don't know,
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: pick a regular you know, big time number one receiver
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: Devonte Adams. You know, he's just gonna let him go
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: because that he felt like that was a better matchup. Yeah.
- 1:03:50Speaker 6: I think one of the things that fascinated me most
- 1:03:52Speaker 6: about Gonzales was remember when he covered Tyreek Hill against Miami. Yeah,
- 1:03:57Speaker 6: and like, I thought that wasn't going to be the
- 1:03:59Speaker 6: type of guy he would cut right. I thought, you know,
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: when he covered aj Brown out of the gate or
- 1:04:03Speaker 6: Garrett Wilson, I was like, yeah, that makes sense that
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: he can stay with those guys and he's good matchup
- 1:04:07Speaker 6: for those He The fact that he covered Tyreek Hill
- 1:04:10Speaker 6: in the second half of the game as well as
- 1:04:11Speaker 6: he did against Miami was like, oh wow, Like this
- 1:04:13Speaker 6: guy might be able to cover all types of receivers,
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: not just you know, certain types. But I'm not a
- 1:04:18Speaker 6: big Xavian Howard guy.
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: No, I think he's sort of close to Doune.
- 1:04:22Speaker 6: Yeah, and he's always been more of like a gambler
- 1:04:24Speaker 6: ballhawk type of corner to me than like a true
- 1:04:27Speaker 6: like Gilmore is a in your shorts lockdown corner.
- 1:04:30Speaker 5: Yeah, it's true. I mean I like Gilmore better than how.
- 1:04:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I would rather gill More better more than the
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: two guys that he mentioned.
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: I just wonder with all these kinds of guys. I
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: got a lot of questions about veterans like that. We
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: talked about the tackles I think.
- 1:04:42Speaker 6: On Tuesday, Yeah, it's I just.
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: Wonder how attractive you are. And I know you could say, well,
- 1:04:48Speaker 5: it's almost June and these guys are out of a job.
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: But I think, like when I think of a guy
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: like Gilmore, he's perfectly happy being out of a job
- 1:04:57Speaker 5: rather than going to play for anybody.
- 1:04:59Speaker 6: Seems like that's you know what I mean the messaging
- 1:05:01Speaker 6: he's putting out there too, that if a contender doesn't
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: come knocking with some money, like he's fine and not
- 1:05:07Speaker 6: kind of not playing.
- 1:05:08Speaker 5: And then you know, if you get to you know,
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: the mid June, you know, after the camps are done,
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: then I think he just waits and says, if someone
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: gets hurt, hurt.
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: You want some rapid fire questions.
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: Sure, Okay, I just got that fur ball out, but
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: it feels like still got it.
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: Well, you you were sick, so you probably have a
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: little irritation from all the phlem that's been going.
- 1:05:30Speaker 5: Down your Your hair's looking a little different today too.
- 1:05:33Speaker 3: It's a little what are you doing? Look, he's got
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: another It's like you didn't use conditioner today or something
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: you had. You had the low flow shower from Seinfeld,
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: the low flow remember that I watched it.
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: I had the low flow shower last night. I had that.
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: I had both horses going into the pool. It was
- 1:05:52Speaker 5: like taking a shower in the rain.
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: Which is more boring? Soccer or golf?
- 1:05:59Speaker 6: Golf?
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: Oh, soccer by car.
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I know who was more annoying, Mike Lombardi or
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: Kim Kardashian.
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: Kim Kardashian, I agree, gets.
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: Kay hmm, that's a tough one for me. I'm gonna
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: go I'm gonna go Lombardy at least.
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: Now this is this is a good one. And I
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: have an opinion which is funnier Seinfelder.
- 1:06:23Speaker 6: Curb curb, curb, no hesitation.
- 1:06:27Speaker 5: Yeah, so I would probably say curb too, but I
- 1:06:30Speaker 5: am not as well versed on curb as I am Seinfeld.
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: I would say, at their peak, Seinfeld is funnier.
- 1:06:36Speaker 5: Really, Yeah, that's a controversial.
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: Curb curb is the same jokes over and overare he
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: gets into a situation blah blah. But you go back
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: to the peak Seinfeld. The merv Griffin Show with you
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: know the play now the play Now episode. You know,
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: like there's some episodes with Seinfeld that are untouchable, you know,
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: so at their peak, I would say Seinfeld Nazi the contest.
- 1:07:03Speaker 6: I just think that for me personally, Larry David, the
- 1:07:07Speaker 6: like jewishness of it plays for me because like, I've
- 1:07:11Speaker 6: just met Larry David in my life, like my whole life,
- 1:07:14Speaker 6: and I'm just like, this is like my grandfather, Like
- 1:07:16Speaker 6: it's the old Jewish guy. It's just cranky about it.
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: I love I love the curb where Larry David's mother
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: dies and his father doesn't tell him right away because uh,
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: you know, Larry was out of town. And so finally
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: he gets back and his father comes over because your
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: mother died, what, like, you know a month ago, you
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: didn't tell me. I didn't want to bother you. It's like, oh,
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: it's terical.
- 1:07:37Speaker 8: I mean, it's a great cop because excuse me, it's
- 1:07:40Speaker 8: so much of George.
- 1:07:41Speaker 4: Is in Oh you can.
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: See where Seinfeldt comes from from Kurb.
- 1:07:46Speaker 6: That's one of my favorite episodes of Kurb is everybody's
- 1:07:50Speaker 6: telling Larry that he's George and he's like, I'm not George,
- 1:07:54Speaker 6: and he's like everyone's like, are you kidding, like you're
- 1:07:56Speaker 6: obviously George, and he like everybody gets under his skin
- 1:07:59Speaker 6: because he's like dead said on the fact that he
- 1:08:02Speaker 6: didn't write George to be himself, even though we all
- 1:08:05Speaker 6: can tell that that's what it is.
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: I think there's a little bit of Larry David in
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: George and Kramer, believe it or not. Yeah, you know,
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: like coming up with these ideas and like the way
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: things should be one.
- 1:08:17Speaker 5: Kramer put the garbage disposal one and shower.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: Right like things like that, Like you know, he's making this.
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: I think I think Curb's got monotonous. Seinfeld was much
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: more clever, you know.
- 1:08:29Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean have you seen all the Kurb not everyone.
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: No, see, I haven't seen as much a Curb as these,
- 1:08:35Speaker 5: but I've seen it. I like Kurb, I've seen it.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: But I missed like the last two years. And then
- 1:08:40Speaker 3: I watched the finale and I felt like I hadn't
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: missed a beat. You know, It's like, oh, they're still
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: doing the same shick, you.
- 1:08:46Speaker 4: Know, same shot.
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: Who's hotter Megan Fox or el McPherson in their prime.
- 1:08:55Speaker 5: That's a tough one because controversial tape.
- 1:08:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not fully high on either one. Now, Uh,
- 1:09:00Speaker 4: I probably go Megan Fox.
- 1:09:02Speaker 8: She's a little bit more in my type prototype before my.
- 1:09:06Speaker 6: Time, she was a big s I swim suit because
- 1:09:10Speaker 6: when he said that name, I was like.
- 1:09:11Speaker 4: It was Paulina Portuskova. I might, I might have had
- 1:09:14Speaker 4: a little bit.
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: Which is more overrated pop music or Thanksgiving Turkey giving Turkey.
- 1:09:21Speaker 4: Turkey pop pop because it's popular.
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: Which would you rather avoid someone who's patronizing or someone
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: who smells bad?
- 1:09:30Speaker 5: Smells that's tough, that's a non starter, smells bad, tough?
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: And who was less likely to admit being wrong? Evan
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: or Fred? Definitely?
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: Evan for sure.
- 1:09:42Speaker 6: Admit to being wrong.
- 1:09:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I've never heard Fred b.
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: Wrong though, that's true, right, Yeah, this always a first Fred.
- 1:09:49Speaker 5: I think you're right about it? Everything, all right, both lips,

- 1:12:28Speaker 14: the off season, you know, making sure tightening up the fundamentals,
- 1:12:31Speaker 14: you know, staying in the playbook, things like that, kind
- 1:12:34Speaker 14: of focusing on the little things that you may make
- 1:12:36Speaker 14: it make it overlook. Going into the off season, We're
- 1:12:38Speaker 14: really trying to emphasize those things, playbook fundamentals, just keep
- 1:12:41Speaker 14: tying them together.
- 1:12:42Speaker 5: Sorry, who was the off season like for your phone business?
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: Standing one?
- 1:12:45Speaker 15: You know, you kind of went through a few different stages.
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: Are you happy to where you're at now? And who
- 1:12:48Speaker 5: is your experience?
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: Like? Yeah, I'm happy to play football again.
- 1:12:51Speaker 14: Uh, definitely on the business, you know, I kind of
- 1:12:53Speaker 14: let my team, financial team and agents and all that
- 1:12:56Speaker 14: handle that so I could, you know, focus on the
- 1:12:58Speaker 14: main thing and and I feel like they did a
- 1:13:00Speaker 14: good job, you know, allow me to focus on that.
- 1:13:02Speaker 5: Oh are you are you happy?
- 1:13:04Speaker 10: Good that the contract did.
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: Get for sure? For sure and.
- 1:13:10Speaker 15: It's you're here for quite a while.
- 1:13:11Speaker 14: Yeah, I definitely am definitely am happy about that.
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:15Speaker 5: Wait, you with a bunch of other guys got resigned.
- 1:13:17Speaker 3: How import is it to the Walker roup to to
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: know that if you put the.
- 1:13:20Speaker 16: Hard brok k in and it'll it'll come back and
- 1:13:23Speaker 16: and kind of show itself.
- 1:13:24Speaker 14: It just kind of goes into just the team, you know,
- 1:13:27Speaker 14: relying on it all the little things, and we talk about,
- 1:13:30Speaker 14: you know, making sure you're focused on the day to
- 1:13:32Speaker 14: day and and it kind of loves makes that easier
- 1:13:34Speaker 14: to do.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: Yeah, so what you feel like, got to draw.
- 1:13:42Speaker 14: It's been great, you know, again focusing on the day
- 1:13:45Speaker 14: to day. It's the first day, but uh, it's been great.
- 1:13:48Speaker 14: No complaints.
- 1:13:49Speaker 3: How much, if any do you see the defense you collectively?
- 1:13:56Speaker 14: Uh, it's tremendously honestly, if I'm being honest. So I
- 1:14:00Speaker 14: don't really see a ceiling for the group as individuals.
- 1:14:03Speaker 14: I think everybody definitely has rumor girl. I know myself.
- 1:14:06Speaker 14: I have a lot of roomor girl. So I think
- 1:14:09Speaker 14: we can have a tremendous, tremendous leap.
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: For sure.
- 1:14:13Speaker 15: You got.
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: Tremendous leap. Yeah, yeah, Uh.
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: What are your initial observations about.
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: Drake bad so far?
- 1:14:22Speaker 14: I it's it's very early. I haven't I haven't watched
- 1:14:25Speaker 14: the practice film, so I really can't say.
- 1:14:28Speaker 8: At least any reaction to the two rookies and and
- 1:14:31Speaker 8: the arm talk that they have.
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: It just seems like, again it's the same, it's kind
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: of the same thing.
- 1:14:35Speaker 17: I do know.
- 1:14:36Speaker 14: They they come in, they excited to work. I have
- 1:14:38Speaker 14: been in the locker room with them at least uh,
- 1:14:40Speaker 14: but as far as just outfield, I really haven't been
- 1:14:42Speaker 14: there to see see much.
- 1:14:43Speaker 15: Let's talk to a handful of guys who returned after
- 1:14:46Speaker 15: last season, and they all talked.
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: About wanting to be a part of a process to
- 1:14:50Speaker 5: kind of get things back on track. From your perspective,
- 1:14:53Speaker 5: can you share any of that?
- 1:14:54Speaker 15: I mean, do you share that you kind of want
- 1:14:57Speaker 15: to drum?
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: For sure? For sure? It feels visual.
- 1:15:00Speaker 14: I mean, you know, I don't think anybody's happy with
- 1:15:03Speaker 14: you know, the product we're put out last year.
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: We know we're better than that.
- 1:15:07Speaker 14: So yeah, I'm excited as well, just like you know
- 1:15:08Speaker 14: those guys are.
- 1:15:11Speaker 15: But can you just take it through the last day
- 1:15:13Speaker 15: or two before you heard okay, you had an agreement
- 1:15:15Speaker 15: with the team and he calls in. Let you know
- 1:15:17Speaker 15: what was that?
- 1:15:17Speaker 5: Like, what was the lead up to what happened?
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: Oh? I was actually on the treadmill, so I was like, you.
- 1:15:25Speaker 14: Know, I was just working out, like what, like you know,
- 1:15:27Speaker 14: kind of like what do you want? You know, a
- 1:15:28Speaker 14: little agitated, But once once the news was told to me.
- 1:15:31Speaker 14: I was, you know, I was excited right right back
- 1:15:34Speaker 14: to work, you know, but I was very excited about it.
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: Talk to them.
- 1:15:39Speaker 14: Didn't really get too much into the details, but I
- 1:15:42Speaker 14: was just happy about it, you know.
- 1:15:43Speaker 15: So you hang up with with Dandy, Um, yes, and
- 1:15:46Speaker 15: then what are you back.
- 1:15:47Speaker 14: In the Yeah, I was in the middle of a workout,
- 1:15:50Speaker 14: so you know, that's the main thing at that time.
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: I had to finish that.
- 1:15:54Speaker 14: Obviously after I got off after trad I've done my workout,
- 1:15:57Speaker 14: you know, and you know, I talked talk amongst them,
- 1:15:59Speaker 14: get more details and you know, get fittering and everything else,
- 1:16:02Speaker 14: and you know, just happy to happy to hear it was.
- 1:16:06Speaker 15: Just going through your head. I that's like changing money.
- 1:16:08Speaker 15: It's a long term plan, that's what you do.
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: But it took a bit to get there.
- 1:16:12Speaker 14: Uh, just a relief, honestly. It's it's it's nothing you
- 1:16:15Speaker 14: can completely ignore, as much as you try to. From
- 1:16:18Speaker 14: being honest, that's that's always kind of sitting there as
- 1:16:21Speaker 14: much as you try to focus on, you know, the
- 1:16:22Speaker 14: field and things like that. But you know, once it's
- 1:16:25Speaker 14: done with, you come to an agreement, it just kind
- 1:16:26Speaker 14: of allows you to get back focus put all your
- 1:16:29Speaker 14: focus on the field, the work, you know, everything going
- 1:16:32Speaker 14: on that's gonna help you play better come into the
- 1:16:34Speaker 14: coming season.
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: So what does Yeah, it is what it is.
- 1:16:41Speaker 13: You know, what do you want to do now?
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: Though like you're locked in long term contract. You're a
- 1:16:44Speaker 4: leader on the senior better under the defense.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: Your goals are what as an individual?
- 1:16:49Speaker 14: Just be consistent, lead by example, you know, putting my
- 1:16:53Speaker 14: foot forward and and and help anywhere I see possible,
- 1:16:56Speaker 14: not you know, not trying to do everything, but do
- 1:16:58Speaker 14: everything that's needed of me, you know, help the younger
- 1:17:01Speaker 14: guys come along, things like that, and just be consistent,
- 1:17:03Speaker 14: you know what I mean. So, yeah, that's the biggest thing. Yeah, sure,
- 1:17:08Speaker 14: you know I appreciate, thank you.
- 1:17:11Speaker 5: And now great moments in.
- 1:17:16Speaker 3: History, not really, that's like Paul, you know, slamming down
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: the D'Angelo so because he didn't like the you know,
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: didn't it's all performative. It's performative. It didn't happen. It
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: happens right there. It was. It was so funny. I mean,
- 1:17:32Speaker 3: he says it doesn't happen, it happened.
- 1:17:34Speaker 5: Oh no, no, that didn't. I didn't slam any first
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: of all, I wouldn't do.
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: We were all sitting at the table.
- 1:17:39Speaker 5: I wouldn't do that.
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: He comes walking up because we're waiting for the food
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: to be served, you know, he comes walking up, sits
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: down and just puts the puts the sandwich in the
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: middle of the table.
- 1:17:48Speaker 5: If he wants to say that, I walked through the
- 1:17:52Speaker 5: press box with attitude to let everybody know, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:17:56Speaker 5: that's I would absolutely I'd cop to that. Yeah, put
- 1:17:59Speaker 5: it down with it.
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: And then when you sat down, what did you do?
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: I just put I put my sandwich down and sat
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: down and ate it. I wouldn't do that.
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: So you weren't trying to make a statement.
- 1:18:06Speaker 5: It is no, no, no, no, no, I don't necessarily say
- 1:18:08Speaker 5: I wasn't making a stake.
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: Put it right in the middle.
- 1:18:10Speaker 5: I had one too many pieces of chicken with a
- 1:18:12Speaker 5: bone in it.
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: He put right in the It was it was all
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: your and.
- 1:18:16Speaker 5: Everybody was pissed. That was the only one that did
- 1:18:18Speaker 5: anything about And we.
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: Were cracking up, like like we were all laughing because
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: we knew what he was doing. It's like, I've had it.
- 1:18:24Speaker 5: I literally I literally went to the line turn and
- 1:18:27Speaker 5: said I can't do this again. I'm going I'm going
- 1:18:29Speaker 5: to de Angelos and I went to get a sub
- 1:18:32Speaker 5: and I was back in ten minutes, and they would die.
- 1:18:34Speaker 5: They Fred's right, they would die and laugh.
- 1:18:35Speaker 4: That might be be on steak Tips next week.
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: That's another great moment from all right back here on
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: Patriots Unfiltered eight five five pass five hundred is a
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: sticking hotline web radio at Patriots dot com. Is the
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: email address deuced Evan.
- 1:18:50Speaker 4: Paul Fred Okay, I cleaned up?
- 1:18:53Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, can you speak? Yeah, Deuce was having
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: all kinds of you had a lot of male in
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: that sandwich, right, wow, and all over your face.
- 1:19:00Speaker 8: It wasn't an Italian so it's a great back off.
- 1:19:03Speaker 8: Great visual me with mail all over my face.
- 1:19:06Speaker 6: Great greade visual.
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:08Speaker 6: The YouTube chats mad at us. By the way, why is.
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: The YouTube chat mad at I didn't even know there
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: was a YouTube chot Oh yeah yeah.
- 1:19:14Speaker 6: Not enough football talk? Okay, not enough football talk?
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: Okay.
- 1:19:17Speaker 6: Well, it's like three people, tell the YouTube.
- 1:19:20Speaker 3: Whoever it is, call up now, email in we'll talk
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: about it.
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: Talk to ask the Patriots question.
- 1:19:25Speaker 5: That really grinds my keys. All right, we've had two
- 1:19:28Speaker 5: people call in and ask football questions. We gave our
- 1:19:31Speaker 5: football answers.
- 1:19:32Speaker 6: And not to promote my own show. But on Catch
- 1:19:34Speaker 6: twenty two, we did an hour and fifty five minutes
- 1:19:37Speaker 6: of kickoffs and all the and.
- 1:19:39Speaker 5: Then forty five minutes of Xavier Tillmoy all the all.
- 1:19:42Speaker 6: The football talk you could possibly While we were breaking
- 1:19:44Speaker 6: down throat, we were using the water bottle for throwing mechanics,
- 1:19:47Speaker 6: things like even.
- 1:19:48Speaker 4: Evans footballed out.
- 1:19:49Speaker 5: So just relax, Yeah, yeah, and.
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: Well, you know, I just wonder, like, we've got another
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: forty minutes we all.
- 1:19:56Speaker 8: Of a sudden get into it and then it will
- 1:19:57Speaker 8: before But what do you just specifically, what are you
- 1:20:02Speaker 8: looking at?
- 1:20:02Speaker 5: No, Like, what are you looking for football wise right now?
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: Like, who do you think is gonna play left tackle
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: a corps for? I mean, I'm just getting you a
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: sample of a question.
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: No, But but that's again, those are things that haven't
- 1:20:15Speaker 5: changed in two much exactly.
- 1:20:17Speaker 3: I think that's that's why I kicked it off by saying,
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: we're kind of status quo with the Patriots, so let's
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: talk about some NFL stuff. We talked about the streaming
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: and the all that.
- 1:20:27Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, well we'll get into the practice next week.
- 1:20:29Speaker 8: I mean, you got a lot of football coming up.
- 1:20:31Speaker 8: Practice next week, then two practices following, and then three
- 1:20:33Speaker 8: the next week.
- 1:20:34Speaker 5: It's Wednesday, the twenty ninth, and then you know, the
- 1:20:37Speaker 5: following week we have I think a Monday Friday or
- 1:20:39Speaker 5: something like that, and then we'll have at least some
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: things to say, Okay, this this stood out to me,
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: like you were asking about Bell the other day, like
- 1:20:49Speaker 5: I didn't really notice it. You know, maybe after four practices,
- 1:20:52Speaker 5: you know, some of these guys start to stand out.
- 1:20:54Speaker 8: That's the biggest thing to me is in these upcoming practices,
- 1:20:56Speaker 8: it's Evan's big things, like do the rookie start to rise?
- 1:20:58Speaker 8: Do you see there's you know, do you see like
- 1:21:00Speaker 8: I remember, like Michael and when you all of a
- 1:21:02Speaker 8: sudden it's like jeeseus and when you is, you know,
- 1:21:04Speaker 8: they're working him around, like you know, you start to
- 1:21:06Speaker 8: get that on your radar. You realize guys that they like,
- 1:21:10Speaker 8: and they start to you know, get more and more opportunities.
- 1:21:12Speaker 4: And those are the things I think.
- 1:21:13Speaker 8: Over the next few weeks that that will show you
- 1:21:15Speaker 8: behind the scenes that these guys are starting to click.
- 1:21:17Speaker 8: They're starting to understand the offense or the defense, and
- 1:21:20Speaker 8: they like what they're doing and they want to, you know,
- 1:21:21Speaker 8: get guys out there with with top line you know,
- 1:21:24Speaker 8: the top line starters.
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: That's always interesting.
- 1:21:26Speaker 8: I mean I mentioned it with the cornerbacks Marco Wilson,
- 1:21:28Speaker 8: Alex Austin this week. You know, just all of a sudden,
- 1:21:31Speaker 8: they're out there kind of with the quote unquote ones
- 1:21:34Speaker 8: let's keep pump the brakes on what that means right now,
- 1:21:36Speaker 8: but you know, you see, you see that they're they're
- 1:21:38Speaker 8: kicking the tires on some.
- 1:21:39Speaker 4: Of these guys.
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: You know, we all we always said about Bill, don't
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: listen to what he says, look at what he does.
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: Do you think this will be that type of team?
- 1:21:48Speaker 5: That's a good question.
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: I was just thinking as I was talking.
- 1:21:49Speaker 8: I was like, and I think so, because I think
- 1:21:52Speaker 8: generally that's just what you do, right. I mean, even
- 1:21:54Speaker 8: if you were coaching a high school team and you
- 1:21:57Speaker 8: have this young freshman, who freshman.
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: Would never come out and say, you know, Mike, and
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: when you we really like what he's doing. You just
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: saw it, you said, oh, they must like him. Ye
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: will we will that be the way it is? Or
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: will Gerard come out and say, oh, you know, we
- 1:22:11Speaker 3: really like what's going on.
- 1:22:12Speaker 8: You know, I don't know if he'd explicitly do it,
- 1:22:14Speaker 8: but I think, like you said, you'll see it.
- 1:22:16Speaker 5: You know, you'll see I don't know if he would
- 1:22:18Speaker 5: come out and say like, oh, I don't know if
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: you got you guys probably noticed today we were working
- 1:22:22Speaker 5: in chokes, you know, at left tackle. We really like
- 1:22:24Speaker 5: I don't think he would do that, But if Evan said, hey, Gerard,
- 1:22:27Speaker 5: we noticed a CORPS four taking a lot of the
- 1:22:29Speaker 5: reps at left tackle. How is that transition? I think
- 1:22:32Speaker 5: he would probably go into more detail about that than
- 1:22:37Speaker 5: Bill would. Yeah, you know, answering a direct question. I
- 1:22:39Speaker 5: think Gerard would be a little bit more forthcoming.
- 1:22:42Speaker 6: The other thing I'm interested in, and this time of
- 1:22:45Speaker 6: year probably isn't the time for it, but Elliott Wolfe
- 1:22:48Speaker 6: has control of the fifty three man roster, so they're
- 1:22:51Speaker 6: going to have to make him available more frequently than
- 1:22:55Speaker 6: we would ever have gotten the person in you know,
- 1:22:57Speaker 6: that position available to the media, because really he's the
- 1:23:01Speaker 6: one that's gonna be making these roster decisions when it
- 1:23:03Speaker 6: comes down to it. And I'm just interested to see
- 1:23:06Speaker 6: how that whole dynamic kind of plays out with Gerrod
- 1:23:09Speaker 6: it because it really feels to me like they have
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: told Gerd just coach, Like, just just coach the team,
- 1:23:17Speaker 6: and he's gonna worry about where Bailey's appy fits into
- 1:23:20Speaker 6: this whole thing, and You're just gonna worry about coaching
- 1:23:23Speaker 6: on Monday, you know. And I'm interested to see if
- 1:23:26Speaker 6: we do get some more opportunities to talk to Elliott
- 1:23:29Speaker 6: as a result.
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: Cool all right, a five to five past five hundred
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: stick a hotline Tyler's in Cincinnati. What's up? Tyler?
- 1:23:39Speaker 5: Hey?
- 1:23:39Speaker 18: What's up?
- 1:23:40Speaker 19: Guys?
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: Can you hear me?
- 1:23:44Speaker 13: Hey? Well?
- 1:23:44Speaker 18: First off, I just want to say that I asked
- 1:23:48Speaker 18: to generate an image of a perfect human being and
- 1:23:51Speaker 18: it pulls out Megan's box.
- 1:23:53Speaker 3: I okay, is that true?
- 1:23:57Speaker 6: She's got weirds?
- 1:24:00Speaker 13: Yeah, I'll give you that.
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:24:03Speaker 18: Second off, more of a statement. Uh in a Cincinnati
- 1:24:08Speaker 18: we have a small group of people, uh that meet
- 1:24:12Speaker 18: up at a local bar here. That's Pat's Nation Natty
- 1:24:15Speaker 18: on Facebook. So I just wanted to let everyone know
- 1:24:19Speaker 18: that maybe listen to the show in Cincinnati and we're
- 1:24:21Speaker 18: all going to meet up for a tailgate at uh
- 1:24:24Speaker 18: Bengals gyms for week one, Okay, Just trying to get
- 1:24:28Speaker 18: as many people out to pack out pay.
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: Did you have your group registered on the Patriots Fan
- 1:24:33Speaker 3: club registry.
- 1:24:36Speaker 13: I don't.
- 1:24:36Speaker 18: I'm not an advent on the group, but I will
- 1:24:38Speaker 18: ask them and see if they do. If not, then
- 1:24:41Speaker 18: I'll definitely have a look.
- 1:24:42Speaker 3: Yeah, go on Patriots dot com into the fan zone
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: and have them register the club and where they meet
- 1:24:47Speaker 3: up on uh, Patriots dot com in the in the registry.
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: That's good because okay, thanks Tyler, Because we we like
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: reach out to those groups stuff.
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: So yeah, that's our boots on the ground.
- 1:25:00Speaker 4: It's a good move. It's not just something you're doing
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: for an exercise. You'll get You'll get some good stuff out.
- 1:25:04Speaker 3: Of it, and the place you meet up will probably
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: appreciate it too. Because if I'm in town and I'm
- 1:25:09Speaker 3: from out of town, I can go on the registry
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: and see where other Patriots fans are.
- 1:25:13Speaker 5: And is that what you do? Fred?
- 1:25:14Speaker 4: You get into town, You're like, all right, where are
- 1:25:15Speaker 4: my people? Tonight? Go be amongst my fans.
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: Godfrey is in North Carolina? What's up? Godfree? Gilbert Godfree?
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: I really wanted to speak to someone named Godfrey.
- 1:25:30Speaker 4: I knew some people with last name Godfrey.
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: Yeah, Oh well, call back how about Brett and Oregon?
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: What's up Brett?
- 1:25:38Speaker 19: Hey, can you guys Jimmy? All right?
- 1:25:40Speaker 10: Yes, yeah, awesome.
- 1:25:42Speaker 12: So I got a couple of questions. One, we know
- 1:25:45Speaker 12: that maybe Zapp may not be on the roster way
- 1:25:48Speaker 12: later in the season, or maybe even at the start
- 1:25:50Speaker 12: of the season. Let's say like Brice carries us for
- 1:25:54Speaker 12: a little bit, or he does some good and there's
- 1:25:56Speaker 12: a team out there that might be more interested in
- 1:25:58Speaker 12: Brazil than trading for Zap. You know, like maybe we
- 1:26:01Speaker 12: can get something out of Brisset and then hand over
- 1:26:04Speaker 12: the reins to May and kind of get maybe a
- 1:26:05Speaker 12: pick or maybe a role player. The second question is
- 1:26:13Speaker 12: all the way from over here in Oregon, I watch
- 1:26:15Speaker 12: at night because I work the Graveyard Ship. Is there
- 1:26:19Speaker 12: any good uh, like other other than Catch twenty two?
- 1:26:23Speaker 12: Any other good podcast for us to watch?
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: Oh, there's plenty.
- 1:26:26Speaker 4: For Patriots.
- 1:26:27Speaker 3: Yeah, Tom Curran has a good podcast.
- 1:26:31Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, they're a nice guy.
- 1:26:33Speaker 6: Phil Perry, that's the same podcast.
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:26:35Speaker 5: Patriots talking, Yeah, Patriots talking?
- 1:26:37Speaker 4: What about Wait, isn't both phils like future paths? Next?
- 1:26:40Speaker 5: Pat Next, Pats.
- 1:26:41Speaker 6: I don't know why we're giving out free publicity to
- 1:26:43Speaker 6: other podcasts.
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: But there's plenty of room for everybody.
- 1:26:46Speaker 5: Andy Hart the Six Rings podcast that Mike and I
- 1:26:49Speaker 5: have both.
- 1:26:50Speaker 3: Ye, Andy Hart six Rings A Claire perspective, Yeah, Claire perspective.
- 1:26:55Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, I'm convinced that he has a stake the.
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: Greg Ship, the Greg Badard Patriots.
- 1:27:00Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: You have to pay for his podcast?
- 1:27:03Speaker 19: I don't know.
- 1:27:04Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:27:05Speaker 6: If you get it's on you can just get it.
- 1:27:06Speaker 11: It's on him and Nick Nick Cattle's right, But maybe
- 1:27:12Speaker 11: the Sette could have some possible trade options, maybe like
- 1:27:15Speaker 11: a low value target on the team, Like, hey, you
- 1:27:17Speaker 11: guys need a quarterback.
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: Well, so I'd be I'd be hesitant to give him
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: up because he is the veteran in the room.
- 1:27:22Speaker 5: We just like sort of attack that a little bit
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: from a logistical standpoint. He was available for the whole league. Yeah,
- 1:27:28Speaker 5: three months ago he signed a one year, eight million
- 1:27:31Speaker 5: dollar deal. Okay, no, but what do you think he's
- 1:27:34Speaker 5: a v what do you like? What do you think
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: he could get you at most in the trade.
- 1:27:38Speaker 3: But he's saying if he's if he if he's really doing.
- 1:27:41Speaker 5: Well, well, then why would you want to trade it?
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: Well, that's what I'm saying, like, like I'd be hesitant
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: to give him up unless you want to give me.
- 1:27:48Speaker 5: A first round pick. And then I'm like, they don't.
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: That's the problem. And I and I love the idea
- 1:27:54Speaker 5: of creating value at thanks for important position. I think
- 1:27:58Speaker 5: we all can agree on that. Yeah, you know that's
- 1:28:01Speaker 5: right out of the ron Wolf manual. But the problem
- 1:28:05Speaker 5: is you have to have guys that are worth something.
- 1:28:08Speaker 5: You know, you create value in Matt Hasselbeck or Mark
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: Brunell and some of the guys that Green Bay flipped,
- 1:28:15Speaker 5: you know with ron Wolf. They actually didn't last with
- 1:28:20Speaker 5: Matt Flynn, he just left as a free agent. But
- 1:28:24Speaker 5: the Patriots, like I don't think Bailey Zappi is going
- 1:28:27Speaker 5: to get you a whole lot in the trade. I
- 1:28:30Speaker 5: know that Jacoby Brissett's not going to get you anything
- 1:28:32Speaker 5: in the trade. Like I just so, I don't know
- 1:28:36Speaker 5: like the guy that Joe Milton is the guy that
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: if you could somehow develop off off of like a
- 1:28:40Speaker 5: great preseason, then maybe you could get like a fourth round.
- 1:28:44Speaker 4: Pick for him.
- 1:28:44Speaker 6: It's not gonna happen this year, But Joe Milton is
- 1:28:47Speaker 6: Jacoby Brissett. However, you know twenty sixteen, right, you know,
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: like that that's what Joe Milton is and if he
- 1:28:53Speaker 6: has a good preseason, a couple of good preseasons in
- 1:28:57Speaker 6: a row, you know, in two or three years could
- 1:29:00Speaker 6: get you a player back like Philip Dorseat or you know,
- 1:29:02Speaker 6: pick maybe.
- 1:29:04Speaker 5: You know. Now, the only thing I would say, you know,
- 1:29:06Speaker 5: to the caller is I would definitely deserve the right
- 1:29:10Speaker 5: to change my mind if we got to like week
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: six or seven, someone who's good has their quarterback go down,
- 1:29:17Speaker 5: you know, like Minnesota last year. You know, would they
- 1:29:20Speaker 5: would Minnesota rather have made the deal for Josh Dobbs
- 1:29:23Speaker 5: or for Jacoby Brissett. You could make an argument that
- 1:29:26Speaker 5: Prisett would be more valuable to them than Josh Dobbs.
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:29:30Speaker 5: I just like maybe a team like that that's desperate.
- 1:29:33Speaker 5: You know, we're we're five and two, we just lost
- 1:29:35Speaker 5: our quarterback. We don't want to wave the white flag
- 1:29:38Speaker 5: on the season. We don't have an option. You know, hey, Elliott,
- 1:29:42Speaker 5: what do you know?
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: What will it?
- 1:29:44Speaker 5: What do we need to give you to give us perset?
- 1:29:47Speaker 8: I mean, I just like the question because it was that, oh,
- 1:29:48Speaker 8: they're going to get down to three quarterbacks. Well, Zappi
- 1:29:51Speaker 8: is the only one that they could.
- 1:29:53Speaker 3: Theoretically get rid of.
- 1:29:54Speaker 5: Right, He's got I mean, that's it.
- 1:29:56Speaker 8: So why like and so I mean I like the
- 1:29:57Speaker 8: question from that regard of like could it somehow be
- 1:30:00Speaker 8: somebody else? But I just it's impossible to me. I
- 1:30:02Speaker 8: wouldn't get rid of the Pressett and the two rookies
- 1:30:04Speaker 8: are staying.
- 1:30:05Speaker 6: So yeah, I just bailey'sz Appy. I'll continue to say
- 1:30:08Speaker 6: the same thing. He has no role on this team.
- 1:30:11Speaker 6: He's not the president or of the future. And I
- 1:30:14Speaker 6: think we can't underestimate the importance of Jacoby Brissett's experience
- 1:30:19Speaker 6: and mentorship to Drake. That is why he's here.
- 1:30:22Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:30:22Speaker 6: He's not here to win the Patriots football games, like
- 1:30:25Speaker 6: in reality, like big picture. He's not here because they
- 1:30:29Speaker 6: think that they're gonna win ten games with Jacoby Brissett
- 1:30:31Speaker 6: next year. He's here to mentor Drake may And if
- 1:30:34Speaker 6: Bailey z Appy is is not gonna be that guy.
- 1:30:37Speaker 6: He's a third year player, he's still trying to find
- 1:30:39Speaker 6: his own way in the league. He's not gonna be
- 1:30:40Speaker 6: the guy that's gonna be mentoring Drake May.
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: No, let's go back to the phones. Logan in Texas.
- 1:30:47Speaker 3: Hey Logan, Hey, how you doing all right?
- 1:30:52Speaker 20: Uh, just a touchback on the streaming that you all
- 1:30:55Speaker 20: started the show out with. I think it's been a
- 1:30:58Speaker 20: big topic in our family because we all watch all
- 1:31:00Speaker 20: but it's really not more expensive. It's just more complicated,
- 1:31:05Speaker 20: and especially for my dad who has had Drag TV
- 1:31:08Speaker 20: and Sunday Ticket for years and now it's all the
- 1:31:10Speaker 20: streaming stuff. But if you break it down, it's not
- 1:31:12Speaker 20: not any more expensive because you don't have contracts on
- 1:31:15Speaker 20: the streaming. You can start as being an NFL season
- 1:31:18Speaker 20: and then end it after the season's over with, so
- 1:31:20Speaker 20: you know, you can't really call a whole year's worth
- 1:31:23Speaker 20: of buying it hiding just for the NFL.
- 1:31:26Speaker 16: Yeah, yeah, okay, And it's like if you guys, I
- 1:31:29Speaker 16: don't know if you guys use the MLB AP or not,
- 1:31:32Speaker 16: but the NFL will do something like that because MLB
- 1:31:35Speaker 16: is one hundred and fifty bucks for little season and
- 1:31:37Speaker 16: you can watch every game.
- 1:31:39Speaker 4: So all right there.
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you can get YouTube TV and you
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: can get the NFL ticket from YouTube. I think it's
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: all three hundred bucks or something like that.
- 1:31:47Speaker 20: Yeah, yeah, and you don't have to have YouTube TV
- 1:31:50Speaker 20: to get that stuff. You can just yet the Sunday ticket.
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: Yeah all right, thanks Logan, appreciate it. Greg Starr has
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: an issue with Evan Oh God. Was catching up on
- 1:32:01Speaker 3: Tuesday's PU and listened to Evan's hot take how the
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: Patriots are running Ota, Drake may standing around, et cetera.
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: I found his presentation in tone to be obnoxious and condescending.
- 1:32:12Speaker 6: Shocker.
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: My initial take was, who the hell is he? What
- 1:32:16Speaker 3: experience does he really have? Has he ever run a practice,
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: coach a team? There are different ways to get to
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: hopefully positive results, new regime, new process, give them some
- 1:32:26Speaker 3: time one day OTAs and Evan is upset boohoo. By
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: the way, how did Bill's totally organized practices do last year?
- 1:32:35Speaker 2: Oh?
- 1:32:36Speaker 6: Sounds like the previous.
- 1:32:39Speaker 5: Twenty two years.
- 1:32:39Speaker 3: Evan, you are better than that. I like listening to
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: your thoughts, analysis and comments, but not this way because
- 1:32:46Speaker 3: I don't agree with it. Getting Fred get a good
- 1:32:49Speaker 3: night of sleep or change what you are before the show?
- 1:32:53Speaker 6: What was the towards that he used to describe me?
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: Like and obnoxious and condescending?
- 1:32:59Speaker 6: Okay, well, can we come up with like some new dishes?
- 1:33:02Speaker 5: Like yes?
- 1:33:03Speaker 3: Well, this fits wear it.
- 1:33:06Speaker 6: I mean, I'm not changing, So we come up with.
- 1:33:11Speaker 5: A new way. So all you have to do, Evan
- 1:33:13Speaker 5: is on Tuesday come in and say, you know, I
- 1:33:15Speaker 5: watched practice and I got to tell you they ran
- 1:33:18Speaker 5: practice exactly the way they should run it. And no
- 1:33:21Speaker 5: one will tell you you're arrogant or condescending. No one
- 1:33:25Speaker 5: will say that I thought about. It's all about if
- 1:33:29Speaker 5: you If you say that you agree with everything they do,
- 1:33:32Speaker 5: then you're more than qualified to give your opinion. If
- 1:33:35Speaker 5: you say you disagree, who are you disagree?
- 1:33:37Speaker 6: Here's the bottom line. And I'll say this and then
- 1:33:40Speaker 6: I'll drop it. We get paid to have a show
- 1:33:45Speaker 6: and give our opinions. So who am I? I'm the
- 1:33:48Speaker 6: one that works for Patriots.
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: I was glad.
- 1:33:50Speaker 8: I was glad you did it because I mean, I
- 1:33:53Speaker 8: you know I and it was kind of like I
- 1:33:56Speaker 8: necessarily like I wasn't sharing your concern. But it was
- 1:33:58Speaker 8: a great take to start to show off and to
- 1:34:01Speaker 8: be honest, my opinion of practice was it was fine.
- 1:34:04Speaker 8: I mean, there wasn't you know, there were a couple
- 1:34:05Speaker 8: of guys every right, I mean, you know, there wasn't
- 1:34:07Speaker 8: you know the but but he brought the energy in
- 1:34:09Speaker 8: the you know that he was irked by something, and
- 1:34:11Speaker 8: then we all kind of, you know, went off of that.
- 1:34:13Speaker 6: So yeah, I mean, obviously I probably played it up
- 1:34:15Speaker 6: a little bit more than I should have, But I
- 1:34:17Speaker 6: just think that that that, to me is the most
- 1:34:19Speaker 6: important thing just in general, not even picking on the
- 1:34:21Speaker 6: practice anymore. Right now, it's about process, and I did
- 1:34:25Speaker 6: what I can't stand as we go to these practices.
- 1:34:27Speaker 6: Drake may was five or six, and you know that's
- 1:34:30Speaker 6: not important right now. It's not important. What's important is
- 1:34:34Speaker 6: the process of how they're going about things. Because good habits,
- 1:34:38Speaker 6: good process, good results.
- 1:34:40Speaker 5: What's the number one thing that any Patriots fan is
- 1:34:43Speaker 5: interested in for this season, and that is how are
- 1:34:46Speaker 5: they handling Drake may Like? Who's in his ear? It's
- 1:34:50Speaker 5: Alex van Pelt, Mayo told us, So how does that
- 1:34:54Speaker 5: process unfold for us? You know that that's all anybody
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: cares about it. That's quite frankly, all anyone should be
- 1:35:00Speaker 5: caring about right now, because if it doesn't work, then
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: you need to start over again. No one wants that.
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: Eldred's in North Carolina, Hey Eldred.
- 1:35:10Speaker 6: Hey Fellers, how y'all doing all right, biggie, what's up?
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: Yes, how are you?
- 1:35:15Speaker 5: Buddy?
- 1:35:16Speaker 13: Go back down to myrtle beach.
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: I did not go down this year legally, I was
- 1:35:20Speaker 5: ducking you. I was ducking you.
- 1:35:23Speaker 13: Okay, we'll keep docum Okay, Nick, because I'm playing, I'm
- 1:35:29Speaker 13: going least by.
- 1:35:30Speaker 5: I might be high points in a little while North Carolina.
- 1:35:35Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, about hour and a halfway, all right, So
- 1:35:39Speaker 5: that sounds like a plan.
- 1:35:41Speaker 13: Hey, My question is, uh, you don't get back to
- 1:35:45Speaker 13: Evan on twenty two about the ten million dollars the
- 1:35:49Speaker 13: face with a ju ju. That might be the reason
- 1:35:51Speaker 13: why they don't move him. Would you move them to give.
- 1:35:54Speaker 19: The rookies or if the wide receiver coach say my
- 1:35:58Speaker 19: sixty is I'm just talking at the top of my head,
- 1:36:02Speaker 19: Hope Baker, Douglas Taekwon and maybe.
- 1:36:09Speaker 5: Let's let's do the guy Osborne Osborne.
- 1:36:12Speaker 13: Yeah, yeah, but then again, I don't I don't like
- 1:36:15Speaker 13: that much. I'd rather keep Born Instid Osborne. But it
- 1:36:20Speaker 13: is Born can play.
- 1:36:21Speaker 19: If you know.
- 1:36:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I think there's a chance of that, Eldred, and
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: I think that the boys do as well. I think
- 1:36:28Speaker 5: there's a chance that they just say we're gonna move
- 1:36:31Speaker 5: on from Juju.
- 1:36:31Speaker 8: I mean not just to like open up spot for
- 1:36:33Speaker 8: the kids, but just because you don't really like his
- 1:36:36Speaker 8: his energy in the locker room.
- 1:36:38Speaker 4: You know it's I mean, I I he.
- 1:36:40Speaker 6: Loves who are the vets that he loves it?
- 1:36:42Speaker 5: Mike, don't be negative. You're going to be like so.
- 1:36:45Speaker 4: Much better you guys.
- 1:36:46Speaker 6: Yeah, that's that you want Polk and Baker following and
- 1:36:50Speaker 6: learning from or he just talked about this that quarterback
- 1:36:54Speaker 6: with Jakobey said, do.
- 1:36:55Speaker 5: You have any veterans other than Born Well Osborne?
- 1:36:58Speaker 6: Born born in Osborne? And I think born Is is
- 1:37:00Speaker 6: a you know, it might not be as talented as
- 1:37:02Speaker 6: he thinks he is, but his attitude and what he
- 1:37:05Speaker 6: brings the energy and stuff like that is a good thing.
- 1:37:09Speaker 5: But I'm with Eldred, I I'm ready to move on
- 1:37:11Speaker 5: from from Juju and blow us away. And I think
- 1:37:14Speaker 5: they're probably going to try to, you know, pumpa it's
- 1:37:17Speaker 5: like the old like Red Sox, you know, pump up
- 1:37:20Speaker 5: the prospects and then get rid of him. I think
- 1:37:22Speaker 5: they're probably going to try to. I wouldn't be surprised
- 1:37:25Speaker 5: if we hear a lot of positive energy from Juju
- 1:37:28Speaker 5: during the course of mini camp into training camp and
- 1:37:30Speaker 5: then and then.
- 1:37:32Speaker 6: Yeah, maybe they put him up against Marcella's dial a
- 1:37:36Speaker 6: few times too, just to give him a catch against
- 1:37:38Speaker 6: the guy in his second career.
- 1:37:40Speaker 5: Practice going that's going next level.
- 1:37:41Speaker 6: Oh yeah, well that's what they did with nik Kill
- 1:37:43Speaker 6: Harry was against Jowan Williams, who both both guys couldn't play,
- 1:37:47Speaker 6: but Nikhil Harry could play a little bit more than
- 1:37:49Speaker 6: Jewan Williams. He looked like a freaking Randy Moss out there.
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: Thanks Eldred. Speaking of the Red Sox sneaky fun team
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: to watch.
- 1:37:55Speaker 8: This year, Oh yeah, yeah, Jaron Duran, i'd Connor Wong.
- 1:38:02Speaker 5: It just looks like the utter epitome of Tyler.
- 1:38:07Speaker 3: I called Tyler O'Neill Tyler. Oh not heead, but wow, yeah, I.
- 1:38:12Speaker 5: Think that they There's.
- 1:38:13Speaker 6: One of two ways that this kind either they're just
- 1:38:18Speaker 6: not you know, it doesn't go anywhere, or they're gonna
- 1:38:20Speaker 6: end up being right that all these young guys are
- 1:38:22Speaker 6: going to now be the future of the team.
- 1:38:24Speaker 5: Like, oh, if the young guys were doing this stuff,
- 1:38:25Speaker 5: I'd be excited.
- 1:38:26Speaker 6: It is the young guys who Willia or Bray.
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: You Jared Duran, Durans is heard.
- 1:38:33Speaker 5: If Castus was in the middle of all this and
- 1:38:35Speaker 5: and Rafaela could hit his weight, I'd be very excited. Well,
- 1:38:38Speaker 5: the young guys that are playing, I don't really do
- 1:38:39Speaker 5: it a whole lot except I mean, I guess you
- 1:38:41Speaker 5: could say Duran, But I think Duran had a good week.
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: How is I don't like pitching lights out.
- 1:38:46Speaker 5: Hawk is a guy that I would be encourage last night,
- 1:38:49Speaker 5: he ain't a young guy.
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: Last last night, what's his name had a good outing.
- 1:38:54Speaker 6: Yeah, he gave up three rounds and then settled down.
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:38:58Speaker 5: You can't just spot the other team three runs and
- 1:39:00Speaker 5: expect to win every now I know, But well, I
- 1:39:03Speaker 5: don't think he's pitched very well. As Era is Overflo
- 1:39:06Speaker 5: he's getting better. Like I said, if if Ralphiello was
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: hitting and then like maybe Mayer was coming up or
- 1:39:13Speaker 5: Anthony was coming up to catcher teal like that, that
- 1:39:17Speaker 5: would get me in. That would bring you back.
- 1:39:19Speaker 3: Wait till one Grissom gets hot.
- 1:39:20Speaker 5: VN. Grissom is very very close to what kp Yeah.
- 1:39:24Speaker 5: Can I ask you a question, Paul can't play? Where
- 1:39:26Speaker 5: did you wonder?
- 1:39:26Speaker 8: Where do you get all your Red Sox knowledge from
- 1:39:28Speaker 8: just because I know you don't really watch the game.
- 1:39:31Speaker 5: I know I watched it, read the paper, I watch it.
- 1:39:34Speaker 5: I do read the paper, as you guys know, but
- 1:39:36Speaker 5: I watch enough to know what's going on. Like I
- 1:39:39Speaker 5: don't ever watch forty eight minutes of the Celtics, but
- 1:39:43Speaker 5: I watch enough to know what happened when the game
- 1:39:45Speaker 5: was decided.
- 1:39:46Speaker 3: I love watching Duran.
- 1:39:47Speaker 5: I mean, if Duran hit a bomb last night? Was
- 1:39:49Speaker 5: it last night he hit a bomb?
- 1:39:51Speaker 3: He stole home?
- 1:39:52Speaker 5: That was I think it was two nights ago. You
- 1:39:53Speaker 5: had that bomb off the set, like I watch, I
- 1:39:55Speaker 5: saw that live.
- 1:39:56Speaker 3: That was a I mean that was a Any gapper
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: is a possible triple with him. I mean he's so fast.
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: Hamilton's fast.
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: Hamilton can't play. He flat out cannot please not a
- 1:40:05Speaker 5: major league player.
- 1:40:07Speaker 6: I think the only thing with their with the Red
- 1:40:09Speaker 6: Sox defenses improved. That gives me no, it really hasn't
- 1:40:13Speaker 6: they leave the league and under and runs aloud again.
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: I watched.
- 1:40:17Speaker 6: To be fair that a lot of that was early April,
- 1:40:20Speaker 6: and it said before the injuries.
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: It said for the team that they wanted to play.
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: Got hurt. But they're playing well now.
- 1:40:26Speaker 5: Like now I'm going to be sold on this is
- 1:40:28Speaker 5: what their plan was, Trevor Story to be out for
- 1:40:30Speaker 5: the year. I watch watch enough.
- 1:40:35Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:40:37Speaker 5: Evan, can you say one thing that I've said that's wrong.
- 1:40:41Speaker 6: I do think some of the younger players are playing
- 1:40:43Speaker 6: better than you give him credit for. But you're right
- 1:40:45Speaker 6: about David Hamilton, like, what was what.
- 1:40:48Speaker 5: Was their plan going? Like Trevor Story was supposed to
- 1:40:52Speaker 5: play one hurt? I know that, so don't give me
- 1:40:55Speaker 5: that this is like their plan is coming.
- 1:40:57Speaker 3: Say anything about their plan. I just said that they're
- 1:41:00Speaker 3: speak a fun team to watch.
- 1:41:01Speaker 5: Right, and I don't think is fun to watch. They're
- 1:41:04Speaker 5: playing a losing four in a row. That's the.
- 1:41:09Speaker 6: Plan though the younger they sold us on the fact
- 1:41:12Speaker 6: that this young core was good. Just give it a
- 1:41:15Speaker 6: couple of years, guys, and I wis Cossas was playing too.
- 1:41:19Speaker 6: But the one thing that bothers me a lot with
- 1:41:21Speaker 6: baseball in general, but also the Red Sox, particularly two
- 1:41:24Speaker 6: years in a row now two years in a row,
- 1:41:26Speaker 6: shortstop has been a dark black hole and for some
- 1:41:29Speaker 6: reason in baseball, Marcelo Meyer, who's apparently the best shortstop
- 1:41:33Speaker 6: prospect in Baseball cannot play in Fenway Park.
- 1:41:37Speaker 5: I'm a little I'm a little worried about him.
- 1:41:39Speaker 6: I'm not gonna lie, but because that's just how that
- 1:41:42Speaker 6: works in that league, like he has, like it's all
- 1:41:44Speaker 6: about contract and team control and all this kind of
- 1:41:47Speaker 6: I didn't know that, Yeah, I didn't, because if he
- 1:41:49Speaker 6: if he gets to watch, if he gets to the
- 1:41:51Speaker 6: major is faster, then his contract starts the clock.
- 1:41:54Speaker 5: Oh, you're just talking about that. I thought there was
- 1:41:56Speaker 5: something specific with Mayor.
- 1:41:57Speaker 6: But but I'm a little bit worried about the fact
- 1:42:00Speaker 6: that so everybody's oh, he's still young. Xander Bogart's was nineteen.
- 1:42:04Speaker 6: He was playing in the major leagues at nineteen.
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: I'm not saying that the ownership isn't being cheap or
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: anything like that. I'm just saying right now they were.
- 1:42:13Speaker 5: But I'm just telling you that it's a five hundred team.
- 1:42:15Speaker 5: Like they were a fun team to watch this series,
- 1:42:17Speaker 5: but they're they're five hundred. I can't That's what I mean.
- 1:42:22Speaker 6: I think you're having the way they're out of the card. Yeah,
- 1:42:26Speaker 6: the way over.
- 1:42:26Speaker 5: Under on them going into the here was like eighty
- 1:42:28Speaker 5: one and a half.
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: And if and if you listen to your shows, they
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: were gonna be like.
- 1:42:33Speaker 5: No, three f See that's not true. This is why
- 1:42:36Speaker 5: people were This is why you always make fun of
- 1:42:38Speaker 5: me and my shows, because you make fun of you.
- 1:42:40Speaker 5: You make up stuff. Peter eight and eighteen against teams
- 1:42:43Speaker 5: over five hundred. They're eighteen and six against teams people.
- 1:42:47Speaker 3: Were killing Tony.
- 1:42:49Speaker 6: I've had it in my notes of the year, I said, text,
- 1:42:51Speaker 6: I said text, maybe that he was feeding the.
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: Staff all right. Back to football, Pete, it is what
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: it is.
- 1:42:57Speaker 5: When they play bad teams, they can win. When they
- 1:42:59Speaker 5: play good ones, they will lose every other thoroughly. They're
- 1:43:04Speaker 5: a thoroughly average team.
- 1:43:06Speaker 6: Last point on the Red Sox. I think the part
- 1:43:08Speaker 6: that frustrates me the most is if they had spent
- 1:43:10Speaker 6: a little bit of money in the off season, then
- 1:43:13Speaker 6: they would actually, Like if they had signed Jordan Montgomery,
- 1:43:15Speaker 6: they might actually be a real team right.
- 1:43:17Speaker 5: Now, And then you like, then you might have reason
- 1:43:19Speaker 5: to be excited because some of these young guys would
- 1:43:22Speaker 5: be able to go through a Pennant race and actually
- 1:43:24Speaker 5: accomplish something. I agree with Evan about.
- 1:43:27Speaker 3: Paul's the last person on earth that calls it the
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: Pennant race.
- 1:43:30Speaker 5: Rafaela. That's what that's what it is. I'm the last person.
- 1:43:34Speaker 6: WILLI Bray is like rookie of the year.
- 1:43:38Speaker 5: I like a Bray. You a lot better than Duran.
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: I think I've seen enough of Duran. I think he's
- 1:43:41Speaker 5: going to have these periods. It's like his fourth year.
- 1:43:46Speaker 5: Like I've seen him.
- 1:43:47Speaker 3: He can't get better.
- 1:43:49Speaker 5: I've seen this from him. He gets white like white
- 1:43:52Speaker 5: hot for like two weeks. Then it goes back to
- 1:43:55Speaker 5: what he is for like the next month, and then
- 1:43:57Speaker 5: he'll do something athletically that cage you to like like
- 1:44:01Speaker 5: when he stole home the other night, and like, okay,
- 1:44:03Speaker 5: first everybody.
- 1:44:03Speaker 6: Gets I just stealing home when they throw it through
- 1:44:06Speaker 6: to second base. It's not stealing home. There's a double steal.
- 1:44:11Speaker 6: I was trying to be nice. I saw the play.
- 1:44:13Speaker 6: I know what happened. I know technically it goes down
- 1:44:16Speaker 6: as a steal of home.
- 1:44:17Speaker 5: I agree with you, but it's not the sandlot. He
- 1:44:20Speaker 5: didn't steal Home's excited by I have some intrigue there
- 1:44:24Speaker 5: because I haven't seen enough of him. I haven't seen
- 1:44:26Speaker 5: him crap out like I've seen all these other guys.
- 1:44:29Speaker 6: He hit a home run last night. He almost hit
- 1:44:31Speaker 6: it into the the Ray tank in center field in Tampa. Yeah,
- 1:44:34Speaker 6: he's got some power and he can run the base
- 1:44:36Speaker 6: as well field his position.
- 1:44:38Speaker 5: Casas Costa, I'm intrigued. I'm intriguing because he had his
- 1:44:42Speaker 5: struggles and then he started to hit last year and
- 1:44:46Speaker 5: he finished on a high looked like he was sort
- 1:44:48Speaker 5: of putting it together again this year. Like I'm not
- 1:44:51Speaker 5: just anti all the players, I just kind.
- 1:44:53Speaker 6: Of the problem is that in the collection is not
- 1:44:56Speaker 6: very good in that sport, Like you supplement these younger
- 1:44:59Speaker 6: players by paying for talent, and if they're not going
- 1:45:02Speaker 6: to pay for the talent and they think they're just
- 1:45:03Speaker 6: going to Baltimore Orioles where the prospects are just gonna
- 1:45:06Speaker 6: all become amazing.
- 1:45:07Speaker 5: You can be great if they all get like Baltimore
- 1:45:10Speaker 5: has gotten pretty fortunate that like Rushman and uh, you know,
- 1:45:14Speaker 5: Holiday's kid was up and down. Who's the other kid
- 1:45:17Speaker 5: this year that's been really good. I forget his name,
- 1:45:18Speaker 5: Cooper something.
- 1:45:19Speaker 6: I think Gunner Henderson.
- 1:45:20Speaker 5: Got that that Cooper Gunner that was close enough just
- 1:45:23Speaker 5: like probably one of the best, but like they all
- 1:45:27Speaker 5: got good together, and then what happens in three years
- 1:45:31Speaker 5: do they pay them to keep them or do they
- 1:45:32Speaker 5: do the type of Bay thing like.
- 1:45:34Speaker 3: Ownership deserves you know, a lot of blame here.
- 1:45:36Speaker 6: I'm just saying it's just fun.
- 1:45:38Speaker 5: No, no watch, But I don't think that you watched
- 1:45:42Speaker 5: the weekend against Saint Louis and thought that was fun,
- 1:45:44Speaker 5: losing out of three to Wish, the really bad team.
- 1:45:48Speaker 3: Saint Louis is under underperformed.
- 1:45:51Speaker 6: So they're playing Milwaukee.
- 1:45:52Speaker 5: Saint Louis is not underperforming. They stink.
- 1:45:54Speaker 6: Yeah, we're playing. They're playing Milwaukee this weekend, and that's
- 1:45:56Speaker 6: a real baseball team. I mean, we'll see what happened.
- 1:45:58Speaker 5: We'll see maybe they'll maybe they'll sweep Milwaukee and will
- 1:46:01Speaker 5: come in on Tuesday and I'll say, you know what,
- 1:46:02Speaker 5: Fred that they started started on the road to something good.
- 1:46:05Speaker 5: Watched it was fun, but they if you had to
- 1:46:07Speaker 5: win a series, like even even win one series against
- 1:46:11Speaker 5: the team with a winning record, not one.
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:46:13Speaker 3: Pete Nadawa, listening to an older episode of PU from
- 1:46:17Speaker 3: twenty twenty two, just before training camp, could come out
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: of this. Just before training camp, Mike Yeah said that
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: he thought a team with average players could be contenders
- 1:46:26Speaker 3: with a good coach, does he still think that.
- 1:46:28Speaker 8: Oh yeah, I mean I think saying average players, you're
- 1:46:31Speaker 8: gonna say average across the board. But no, I mean
- 1:46:33Speaker 8: in this you know, gets into Paul telling me I
- 1:46:35Speaker 8: still believe in Santa Claus. But I do think that
- 1:46:38Speaker 8: there's a you know, something to be said for a
- 1:46:40Speaker 8: team that that all is on the same page in plays.
- 1:46:42Speaker 8: I don't think the Patriots were that last year. They
- 1:46:44Speaker 8: certainly weren't that in twenty twenty two. I think last
- 1:46:47Speaker 8: year was an example of a team that had some
- 1:46:49Speaker 8: talent at times, but just didn't play together in any
- 1:46:52Speaker 8: attempt that they had to win, you know, was was
- 1:46:54Speaker 8: shortcut because the key moments they made stupid mistakes. So
- 1:46:58Speaker 8: now I'll always believe that, I'll always believe that to
- 1:47:00Speaker 8: a certain extent. I mean, you know, is it always
- 1:47:02Speaker 8: going to be an elite team that that you know, know,
- 1:47:05Speaker 8: But I think there are teams that even despite talent,
- 1:47:08Speaker 8: they play together and they play hard, they can punch
- 1:47:10Speaker 8: above their weight.
- 1:47:10Speaker 4: Yeah, I believe that.
- 1:47:12Speaker 5: I would need to hear, I would need to see more.
- 1:47:14Speaker 6: I feel like it's tough to I agree with you
- 1:47:17Speaker 6: in theory, but then when you look at like the
- 1:47:18Speaker 6: teams that made the playoffs last year, like their roster
- 1:47:21Speaker 6: talent's all pretty good.
- 1:47:22Speaker 8: Like, you know, it's hard, well, and you can't say
- 1:47:24Speaker 8: like everybody's average, right, but it's just hard, yeah.
- 1:47:28Speaker 4: I mean it's hard to point at a team and
- 1:47:29Speaker 4: be like every player is average. There's not.
- 1:47:31Speaker 8: I mean every team terrible ones have a couple of
- 1:47:34Speaker 8: really good guys. But I mean, I i'd pin it
- 1:47:37Speaker 8: on the receivers, Like, I don't think that you can't
- 1:47:39Speaker 8: be good unless you have a number one overall, a
- 1:47:41Speaker 8: number one receiver. I think you can be good without
- 1:47:43Speaker 8: a number one receiver. I don't think that that was
- 1:47:45Speaker 8: with you know, with a great quarterback of course, of course,
- 1:47:48Speaker 8: and that that's the biggest piece. That's the biggest piece,
- 1:47:50Speaker 8: right quarterback. I mean, you know, go back and look
- 1:47:52Speaker 8: at all the Super Bowls.
- 1:47:53Speaker 4: You know, you can probably.
- 1:47:54Speaker 8: Count on one hand the number of they only had
- 1:47:56Speaker 8: an elite receiver, but pretty much every single one of
- 1:47:59Speaker 8: them had quarterback who or somebody who at least played
- 1:48:02Speaker 8: elite at that point.
- 1:48:04Speaker 5: But an average roster, which is not average, not your
- 1:48:06Speaker 5: wards that was. It's not like that's not Mahomes. No, No,
- 1:48:10Speaker 5: that Holmes by himself makes your roster above average.
- 1:48:13Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, but I think that this is probably
- 1:48:15Speaker 8: not a question for the NFL, where I mean.
- 1:48:17Speaker 4: Everybody's pretty good to some degree.
- 1:48:19Speaker 8: But I tell you, like in a high school I've
- 1:48:21Speaker 8: seen high school teams that were terrible, didn't get any superstars,
- 1:48:26Speaker 8: got a great coach, and all of a sudden, this
- 1:48:28Speaker 8: was a good team. I mean, I've seen that happen across.
- 1:48:30Speaker 4: High school sports. It's high school sports, so take it
- 1:48:32Speaker 4: for what it's worth.
- 1:48:33Speaker 5: But I would it would be Team Mike, Yeah, because
- 1:48:36Speaker 5: the other team has a bad coach and loses with
- 1:48:38Speaker 5: better players. That doesn't happen in the NFL a lot.
- 1:48:41Speaker 5: I'm not saying it never happens.
- 1:48:42Speaker 6: Yeah, I would say that that this just happened with
- 1:48:45Speaker 6: the Boston Bruins.
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: In my mind, Yeah, I think about the Chargers two
- 1:48:48Speaker 3: years ago. You know, people said they had talent in
- 1:48:51Speaker 3: their coach, just lots of games.
- 1:48:53Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, and I think that that's absolutely true.
- 1:48:55Speaker 8: But I mean, I you know, I.
- 1:48:56Speaker 5: Would say that the more talented team lost the Super
- 1:48:58Speaker 5: Bowl to the less talented team because I think Andy
- 1:49:00Speaker 5: Reid's a better coach than Dan Yeah.
- 1:49:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, and that's I know that's kind of
- 1:49:06Speaker 4: why I said, you know.
- 1:49:07Speaker 8: I think the Chargers thing, though, is is somewhat. I mean,
- 1:49:09Speaker 8: I think you get into the area of all the
- 1:49:11Speaker 8: schematic stuff that he did and going forward on fourth
- 1:49:14Speaker 8: downs and you know, but but then you also realized
- 1:49:17Speaker 8: that that kind of mindset feeds into the team and
- 1:49:19Speaker 8: now you know, and I I mean, I just go
- 1:49:21Speaker 8: back to last year's Patriots, Like I just that team
- 1:49:24Speaker 8: wasn't ready to win games in the in the winning moments,
- 1:49:27Speaker 8: you know, like they just weren't ready and they you know,
- 1:49:29Speaker 8: it's and it's just fell apart and it and honestly,
- 1:49:32Speaker 8: I was thinking about it yesterday, like I just I'm just.
- 1:49:34Speaker 4: Bummed at how it ended with Belichick.
- 1:49:36Speaker 8: Like I just like, like what happened? Why why did
- 1:49:39Speaker 8: it become so insular? And he wasn't able to you know,
- 1:49:42Speaker 8: I mean we've had more conversations about.
- 1:49:44Speaker 5: To be a better time than one fifty three, having
- 1:49:46Speaker 5: small you.
- 1:49:47Speaker 8: Know, having small staff and sticking to you know, and
- 1:49:50Speaker 8: like it didn't work and at a certain point, you know,
- 1:49:53Speaker 8: you had to adjust a little bit, and he just
- 1:49:55Speaker 8: he didn't. He didn't and at a certain point, like
- 1:49:58Speaker 8: I don't think he I think he still had the
- 1:49:59Speaker 8: team in twenty twenty one, but look at what happened
- 1:50:01Speaker 8: in twenty twenty two. Look at the team that went
- 1:50:03Speaker 8: to Germany and didn't score a touchdown. You know, look
- 1:50:05Speaker 8: look at those two years.
- 1:50:07Speaker 4: That wasn't a team that wanted to play for that
- 1:50:08Speaker 4: coach anymore. And you know, I think that team's.
- 1:50:12Speaker 5: Problems, well, I really and I just don't think they're
- 1:50:15Speaker 5: very good. Well, and that's Bill's fault. Billerson. Well, I'm
- 1:50:19Speaker 5: not letting Bill off though, but.
- 1:50:20Speaker 8: I think Paul goes back to the point of will
- 1:50:23Speaker 8: they play for a coach that they want? Will they
- 1:50:25Speaker 8: punch above their weight for a coach that they want
- 1:50:27Speaker 8: to play for? And I didn't see that team ever
- 1:50:30Speaker 8: punching above their weight. And you're right, I mean they
- 1:50:32Speaker 8: didn't have the talent totally.
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: They could do it for a short stretch in the NFL,
- 1:50:36Speaker 3: but not overall.
- 1:50:37Speaker 5: I totally agree with if I didn't see them playing.
- 1:50:39Speaker 5: I mean, they beat Buffalo last year. That's punching above
- 1:50:41Speaker 5: your weights.
- 1:50:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean one kind of time.
- 1:50:43Speaker 8: It all kind of not any consistent, right, it all
- 1:50:45Speaker 8: kind of clicked, But it's just, uh, you know, I
- 1:50:47Speaker 8: just I wish that. I was just thinking, you know what,
- 1:50:49Speaker 8: what could have been a change for Bill Belichick that
- 1:50:52Speaker 8: might have in twenty nineteen despite the bad drafts And
- 1:50:54Speaker 8: Paul's right, the talent is a huge part in the
- 1:50:56Speaker 8: miss drafts.
- 1:50:57Speaker 4: I pounded that into the dirt, But.
- 1:50:59Speaker 8: You know what could he have done structurally where it
- 1:51:02Speaker 8: became I'm gonna hire Matta Patricia. I'm gonna just have
- 1:51:04Speaker 8: this tiny staff that seems overwhelmed trying to implement two
- 1:51:09Speaker 8: new offenses in two years, you know, and it's just Patricia.
- 1:51:12Speaker 6: I mean, I just look at when it comes to
- 1:51:15Speaker 6: the coaching staff. I think that guys like Dante Scarnekia
- 1:51:17Speaker 6: I have in Fears like those guys could take on
- 1:51:19Speaker 6: the more responsibility because of how good they were and
- 1:51:21Speaker 6: how experienced they were. When you start putting Vinnie Cinceri
- 1:51:26Speaker 6: in that spot, or you start putting Matt Patricia in
- 1:51:29Speaker 6: that spot, Matt Patricia and Vinie Cinceria or not Ivan
- 1:51:32Speaker 6: fears in Dante Scarnecia and Evan Rostein does not Ernie Adams.
- 1:51:36Speaker 6: So like, I think when you really think about all
- 1:51:38Speaker 6: those types of things, that a lot of that is
- 1:51:40Speaker 6: is what happened, and you know, I've been put somebody
- 1:51:43Speaker 6: that has been banging the table for the roster. Like
- 1:51:46Speaker 6: I think from a talent you know, accalation, standpoint, whatever
- 1:51:50Speaker 6: you want to call it, I think he lost touch
- 1:51:52Speaker 6: of how to build a roster for the modern NFL
- 1:51:54Speaker 6: because he wasn't about paying guys twenty five million dollars
- 1:51:57Speaker 6: a year to play receiver. And all these other teams
- 1:52:00Speaker 6: had these guys, you know, I had some teams have
- 1:52:02Speaker 6: multiple of these guys, and he just wasn't about that.
- 1:52:05Speaker 6: And it Dad might have won games in two thousand
- 1:52:08Speaker 6: and one, but it wasn't gonna win games in twenty
- 1:52:10Speaker 6: twenty three.
- 1:52:11Speaker 3: All right, good email, yep, SPI and Fresno, what's up?
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: You wrote in? Now you're calling in? What do you got?
- 1:52:17Speaker 17: You're having some Seinfeld's talks. I just wanted to throw
- 1:52:19Speaker 17: a little Seinfeld story at you. I saw him live
- 1:52:22Speaker 17: like a little over a month ago, and he comes
- 1:52:25Speaker 17: out for his encore. He was stiller than expected, but
- 1:52:29Speaker 17: then for his encore and like twenty five hundred people,
- 1:52:32Speaker 17: he just starts fielding questions randomly from the audience, and
- 1:52:36Speaker 17: and so I had to ask him. So I asked
- 1:52:37Speaker 17: him what his most embarrassing moment of his adolescence was
- 1:52:42Speaker 17: he he hesitated. He was like a super fame and
- 1:52:46Speaker 17: then finally we coaxed him into it. He said, someone
- 1:52:48Speaker 17: once threw up on him in in his words, in
- 1:52:51Speaker 17: a terrible, terrible, compromising moment. You can finish that one
- 1:52:55Speaker 17: in your head.
- 1:52:56Speaker 4: Oh jeezuz oh with a lady.
- 1:52:59Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, who was obviously overserved.
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: Okay, all right, oh wow, so that's it. Okay, Well,
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: I mean that's all I got.
- 1:53:11Speaker 8: All right, yeah, you got a good story out of
- 1:53:14Speaker 8: Jerry Side.
- 1:53:17Speaker 17: Christie Brinkley, The Island, Kathy Ireland.
- 1:53:20Speaker 5: Yeah, well yeah, Kathy Ireland.
- 1:53:22Speaker 6: I know Christy Brinkley.
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:53:25Speaker 4: She married a billy Joel was vacation that.
- 1:53:28Speaker 6: Was what what was it? What was the movie's vacation? Yeah,
- 1:53:33Speaker 6: it's not in Christmas Vacation.
- 1:53:35Speaker 8: That's the other original vacation. She drives by and the
- 1:53:38Speaker 8: but this is crazy.
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: This is crazy.
- 1:53:40Speaker 3: Christy Brinkley is the kind of woman like when she
- 1:53:42Speaker 3: was young, you know she's gonna she's gonna age. Well
- 1:53:45Speaker 3: you know, and she did.
- 1:53:47Speaker 5: How did you know that?
- 1:53:48Speaker 6: Because you could just tell.
- 1:53:50Speaker 5: Feel for the league?
- 1:53:53Speaker 3: All right, thanks being one more email then we'll wrap
- 1:53:57Speaker 3: it up. I love it when people go after Evan
- 1:54:00Speaker 3: Sam in London. Evan, you categorically cannot call yourself a
- 1:54:04Speaker 3: food snob whilst stating that your choice of coffee is Starbucks,
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: literally the most basic bitch coffee there is. What do
- 1:54:13Speaker 3: you feel like a coffee connoisseur whilst ordering a frappuccino
- 1:54:17Speaker 3: with caramel syrup? Grow up Duncan.
- 1:54:20Speaker 4: Right now?
- 1:54:20Speaker 3: You feel like I'm channeling some kind of inner Eric
- 1:54:23Speaker 3: here ri ip. But someone has to. Maybe it's the
- 1:54:25Speaker 3: Italian in me. Using my food or beverage guy. Using
- 1:54:29Speaker 3: any food or beverage franchise is a way of proving
- 1:54:32Speaker 3: your foody credentials. It's like trying to convince someone you're
- 1:54:35Speaker 3: a lover of high quality quarterback play whilst wearing a
- 1:54:38Speaker 3: Matt Jones jersey. Get out, go out, go out, buy
- 1:54:43Speaker 3: a coffee machine, make your own, or go to a
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: real coffee shop and mow the lawn while you're at it.
- 1:54:48Speaker 3: So there you go.
- 1:54:49Speaker 6: Strong, no comment, But I love real is he from
- 1:54:54Speaker 6: the UK.
- 1:54:55Speaker 4: He's a guy.
- 1:54:56Speaker 6: Probably I want to come over to a real WHI
- 1:55:00Speaker 6: that's my comment.
- 1:55:00Speaker 5: Yeah, seventeen seventy Starbucks like I'm not I'm not a
- 1:55:06Speaker 5: coffee guy. I don't drink coffee. But is Starbucks not good?
- 1:55:09Speaker 3: No? See, I hate Starbucks because it's too strong. I'll
- 1:55:12Speaker 3: have it in a pinch. Like to me, regular Joe
- 1:55:14Speaker 3: coffee is like Dunking Donuts. Yeah to me, Like I
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: love Dunkin Donuts. But like if you're like, you know,
- 1:55:20Speaker 3: real coffee, maybe you go to Starbucks. But real coffee
- 1:55:23Speaker 3: connoisseurs will say that's crap too.
- 1:55:26Speaker 5: You have to go to your own and all that.
- 1:55:28Speaker 5: Maybe making your own.
- 1:55:30Speaker 8: I just I just find Duncan to be wonderfully enjoyable.
- 1:55:33Speaker 4: Oh nice tree.
- 1:55:34Speaker 8: And it's not like it's like if I ever drank
- 1:55:37Speaker 8: Evans drink in the morning, I would.
- 1:55:38Speaker 4: Be up for two days straight. Like it's so when
- 1:55:40Speaker 4: I drink.
- 1:55:41Speaker 8: I know, I drank Starbucks for a few years out
- 1:55:44Speaker 8: and when I was in con and like I had
- 1:55:45Speaker 8: to kick it, like it's you. You don't have it
- 1:55:47Speaker 8: for a day, like remember like whenever we go on
- 1:55:49Speaker 8: the road and.
- 1:55:49Speaker 4: Evan's like, I need to find a Starbucks, so you.
- 1:55:52Speaker 6: Know, I know it's you know, it's like give me
- 1:55:55Speaker 6: Duncan or give me that. All right, I'm not a dunk.
