- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, I'm Chelsea Handler. Welcome to Life Will Be the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Death of Me, a production of I Heart Radio. Good Morning, Brandon,
- 0:07Speaker 1: Good morning, Chelsea. Did you sleep over last night? Oh? Okay,
- 0:11Speaker 1: thank you. Hi everybody, It's Thursday. I had a new
- 0:16Speaker 1: documentary come out this week called Hello Privilege, It's Me Chelsea,
- 0:20Speaker 1: which is streaming on Netflix. Brandon, did you watch it?
- 0:25Speaker 1: You have? Well, yes, I've seen multiple iterations of it,
- 0:29Speaker 1: and then I did watch the And what was your
- 0:31Speaker 1: takeaway that we're all inherently privileged? I mean that was
- 0:36Speaker 1: from the beginning of watching the processes that you don't
- 0:38Speaker 1: think of your skin colors providing you something that it does.
- 0:42Speaker 1: What resonates with me the most is the unconscious bias,
- 0:45Speaker 1: the stuff that we grow up with, the stuff that
- 0:47Speaker 1: we are kind of made to believe is true or
- 0:51Speaker 1: this these ideas that are inculcated in our mind, this
- 0:54Speaker 1: system of you know, zero, some game kind of thing
- 0:59Speaker 1: where you have to be doing better than everyone else
- 1:02Speaker 1: around you, and in order to do that, you have
- 1:04Speaker 1: to keep people down. And I think unconscious bias is
- 1:08Speaker 1: something that all of us can relate to because we
- 1:10Speaker 1: are judgmental. Whether we act on it is one thing.
- 1:13Speaker 1: But it's okay to admit that you have stereotypes in
- 1:18Speaker 1: your head about people. That's all right, I believe, because
- 1:21Speaker 1: then you can do begin the process of unfurling those
- 1:24Speaker 1: stereotypes and those judgments against people or you know. I know,
- 1:27Speaker 1: and personally I felt superiority in my life, not to
- 1:30Speaker 1: just people of color, to all people, just because of
- 1:32Speaker 1: my position in life. I've definitely had moments where I
- 1:35Speaker 1: felt superior to someone, you know, and I had to
- 1:37Speaker 1: undress that in a big way, because there is nothing
- 1:40Speaker 1: that is superior about one person over another. You can
- 1:43Speaker 1: see it in the documentary at times too, where it's
- 1:45Speaker 1: uncomfortable to acknowledge those things. And that's why people don't
- 1:48Speaker 1: want to do it. They don't want acknowledge their privilege
- 1:49Speaker 1: or the things that they're provided, or your biased towards
- 1:54Speaker 1: a certain group of people. And until you do it,
- 1:56Speaker 1: until you make yourself uncomfortable, you're not gonna get better.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Like we're not going to get better. Yeah, and I
- 2:00Speaker 1: think people yes, exactly. And if the thing that everybody
- 2:03Speaker 1: says is they don't like to get involved, they don't
- 2:05Speaker 1: want to deal with conflict, like when anything's uncomfortable and
- 2:07Speaker 1: I would argue it is our business to make ourselves uncomfortable.
- 2:12Speaker 1: We owe that to everyone we've discriminated against as a
- 2:15Speaker 1: white culture. We owe that to be uncomfortable, yes, and
- 2:19Speaker 1: to go directly to the source and ask the questions that.
- 2:22Speaker 1: It's so interesting because I see a lot of feedback
- 2:24Speaker 1: on your social media about people saying that you always
- 2:27Speaker 1: put yourself in these uncomfortable positions of no one wants
- 2:29Speaker 1: to sit down and talk about something that is one difficult,
- 2:33Speaker 1: but to that is a poor reflection on a larger
- 2:35Speaker 1: group of people. That all white people have a lot
- 2:38Speaker 1: of work to do to make up for the discrimination,
- 2:40Speaker 1: for the bias that they have over minorities, and you're
- 2:43Speaker 1: willing to do that, and it really I think you
- 2:45Speaker 1: know a lot of people are commenting that they want
- 2:47Speaker 1: to put themselves in those positions as well, because that's
- 2:50Speaker 1: how we're going to progress. Yeah, and it is our ownus.
- 2:53Speaker 1: It is upon white people to deal with this problem.
- 2:55Speaker 1: We cannot place it on people of color to fix
- 2:57Speaker 1: the situation that we created. So I'm really really thrilled
- 3:01Speaker 1: with all the feedback. I will be putting up books
- 3:03Speaker 1: and actionable ways that you can get involved. If you
- 3:06Speaker 1: want to do something, which I hope you do on
- 3:08Speaker 1: my Instagram stories on my social media platforms. And I
- 3:12Speaker 1: want to continue this discussion because obviously I will make
- 3:14Speaker 1: more documentaries and I am just getting started on this
- 3:17Speaker 1: subject matter. So I would love everybody to give me
- 3:19Speaker 1: their feedback because the more you know, the more you
- 3:22Speaker 1: grow brand in right, and now you're growing into something else.
- 3:24Speaker 1: So the documentary wrapped up and you had to put
- 3:26Speaker 1: all of your attention finish the book documentary, and now
- 3:30Speaker 1: the cannabis line. Wow, look at my producer just bringing
- 3:34Speaker 1: it full circle. Brenda. We are just a fine couple,
- 3:37Speaker 1: are dynamic deal, we are Things are really jelling around here.
- 3:43Speaker 1: So we have announcement about my weedline. I guess all
- 3:45Speaker 1: of you guys have been hearing about all the vaping
- 3:47Speaker 1: issues and obviously I am not ever going to put
- 3:50Speaker 1: out a product that I don't feel confident about being
- 3:53Speaker 1: good for my customers and safe. So we are going
- 3:57Speaker 1: back to the drawing board because I don't want any
- 3:59Speaker 1: chemicals in my VA pens. You're very adamant about this.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Of course, I want everyone to understand well because from
- 4:04Speaker 1: this process, we've found other companies may not have the
- 4:08Speaker 1: same ethically, it is very important to take out all
- 4:15Speaker 1: the chemicals like acetate e and poly ethylene glycol and
- 4:18Speaker 1: pollyello lene glycol I probably said that wrong, and vegetable oils.
- 4:23Speaker 1: This is all information you guys don't need to know
- 4:24Speaker 1: about me as starting this brand. I won't do it.
- 4:26Speaker 1: So I am postponing the launch of my weed line,
- 4:29Speaker 1: which was supposed to be in November, just in time
- 4:30Speaker 1: for the holidays. We are shooting for February now, and
- 4:34Speaker 1: that's the reason why. So I just want you to
- 4:36Speaker 1: know that I am working hard on this to make
- 4:39Speaker 1: this as pleasurable but more importantly, as safe as possible
- 4:44Speaker 1: for when my brand launches in February, and when it does,
- 4:47Speaker 1: you'll know about it. So just so f Y, we
- 4:49Speaker 1: recorded this episode a few weeks ago because we had
- 4:52Speaker 1: one of my partners and Array from Norcaw which is
- 4:54Speaker 1: the company I partnered with from my cannabis line, and
- 4:58Speaker 1: my sissy manager partner, her sister, brother, mother, father Sissy. Well,
- 5:04Speaker 1: first Allison, let's just talk about our history. First of all,
- 5:06Speaker 1: Allison is Irving's daughter. Yes, Irving is my nugget. He's
- 5:11Speaker 1: my manager from when I quit E and forgotten everybody.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Irving and Shelley's daughter, right, Shelly is part of the
- 5:18Speaker 1: Los Angeles mafia, and if you run into her, just
- 5:22Speaker 1: watch your back. Irving was my manager when I left E,
- 5:25Speaker 1: and I forgot to tell E that I was leaving,
- 5:27Speaker 1: so I needed a manager to deal with them because
- 5:28Speaker 1: they got pissed at me. I always forget to do
- 5:30Speaker 1: things like that anyway, So he's been my manager since then.
- 5:33Speaker 1: And then Allison can't even join the team. Well, you
- 5:35Speaker 1: did my seven up commercial, we did any endorsement branding
- 5:39Speaker 1: stuff I do with Allison, I started on all the
- 5:41Speaker 1: brand stuff and we had a love affair, and then
- 5:43Speaker 1: we decided that Irving as off is well old and
- 5:47Speaker 1: Allison is young and a newer improved version man and
- 5:51Speaker 1: she likes weed, and as this is Irving. We did
- 5:55Speaker 1: get him stone one we did when we went to
- 5:58Speaker 1: when he had Steely Damn playing there. Yeah, we got
- 6:00Speaker 1: him high once and table he drove the golf cart
- 6:05Speaker 1: into the Remember he went forward in the golf But
- 6:09Speaker 1: we got him stone the other time and he fell
- 6:10Speaker 1: sleep right at the table. That was stupid. But there's
- 6:13Speaker 1: no point in getting him stoned. He's too old to
- 6:15Speaker 1: enjoy it. I like old men though that do want
- 6:17Speaker 1: to get stoned. That's what I'm into. You know, anybody
- 6:20Speaker 1: who doesn't his smoke pot is kind of hard for
- 6:22Speaker 1: me to take seriously or take edibles, like if they're
- 6:25Speaker 1: not down then it's almost like then you're that, screams
- 6:28Speaker 1: to me, uptight, controlling a little, just like not wanting
- 6:32Speaker 1: to lose control. You like people that are open Yeah,
- 6:35Speaker 1: you want to be I mean, yeah, you want to
- 6:37Speaker 1: be open minded, not closed minded. I don't want fixed
- 6:40Speaker 1: opinions about anything, like I'd like to change my mind
- 6:42Speaker 1: all the time, all the time. Thank goodness, Brandon. Now,
- 6:50Speaker 1: and I'm here with Anna Ray who's from NorCal, which
- 6:52Speaker 1: is a company I partnered with from my weed line.
- 6:54Speaker 1: So we're here to discuss cannabis today and my passion
- 6:57Speaker 1: for it and my new cannabis line, which Allison is
- 7:00Speaker 1: in charge for introducing me to nork how so she's
- 7:03Speaker 1: my little nugget manager. Anna, right, can you tell us
- 7:06Speaker 1: what your position is? Who you are? How we met? Sure?
- 7:10Speaker 1: I am the chief compliance officer for nor Cal Cannabis.
- 7:14Speaker 1: That's my partner. Yes, we are partners and at NORC
- 7:18Speaker 1: call Cannabis. What I do is I do public affairs,
- 7:22Speaker 1: so I talk with government officials and elected officials about
- 7:26Speaker 1: the cannabis industry and try to make it so that
- 7:29Speaker 1: the legal framework is something that works for everybody and
- 7:33Speaker 1: that the industry can flourish. I also oversee all of
- 7:36Speaker 1: our licenses, so I make it possible for us to
- 7:40Speaker 1: operate our business and get to make great products that
- 7:43Speaker 1: we can bring to all of you. And I have
- 7:46Speaker 1: been in cannabis for about fifteen years, so I have
- 7:50Speaker 1: really dedicated my whole professional career to this vision of
- 7:54Speaker 1: creating long term, substantive, real opportunities and cannabis for people,
- 8:00Speaker 1: because it really has changed my life in a way
- 8:05Speaker 1: that I haven't been able to get away from it.
- 8:08Speaker 1: It's just cannabis has followed me. It's had a tremendous
- 8:11Speaker 1: impact on my opportunities, on my vision, on my direction,
- 8:15Speaker 1: and it put me through grad school. So what we're
- 8:19Speaker 1: building now with nork Cow is basically the dream realized
- 8:23Speaker 1: of what I've been trying to work on manifesting for
- 8:27Speaker 1: a really long time, and so it's really exciting. The
- 8:30Speaker 1: company is growing. We have tremendous partners like you, Chelsea,
- 8:34Speaker 1: that are a part of what we're doing, and it's
- 8:36Speaker 1: just it feels like there's nothing that we can't do.
- 8:40Speaker 1: And I'd also just like to add, because I work
- 8:42Speaker 1: so closely with the North Cal team, that you guys
- 8:44Speaker 1: have incredible talent that you're bringing in such amazing people,
- 8:48Speaker 1: and I've been just so you know, it's such a
- 8:53Speaker 1: pleasant surprise to see how professional everyone is and how
- 8:56Speaker 1: legit everyone is, and you are bringing over talent from
- 9:00Speaker 1: places like you know, Twitter and Airbnb and like all
- 9:04Speaker 1: of these other categories where people are really smart and
- 9:07Speaker 1: having thriving careers and are leaving those stable categories and
- 9:11Speaker 1: coming into cannabis because it is so real and because
- 9:14Speaker 1: it's becoming it will be legalized nationally sooner than later.
- 9:19Speaker 1: And it's just an awesome learning experience, especially for me
- 9:23Speaker 1: in in what I do on a daily basis. To
- 9:26Speaker 1: meet the team and see the people that you guys
- 9:28Speaker 1: are bringing over to nor Cal. It's been a tremendous
- 9:32Speaker 1: honor too as we've grown the company for people to
- 9:36Speaker 1: want to join us who have never been a part
- 9:39Speaker 1: of the cannabis industry before, and to me, it speaks
- 9:43Speaker 1: a lot about what we have accomplished that people decided
- 9:46Speaker 1: that they were willing to leave behind something that was
- 9:49Speaker 1: more conventional and and try something else. But one of
- 9:52Speaker 1: the things it's also neat about our company is that
- 9:54Speaker 1: we really were founded by people who have been in
- 9:58Speaker 1: this for a long time, and so a core group
- 10:01Speaker 1: of us really are carrying a flag about the heritage
- 10:04Speaker 1: of the cannabis industry and the culture that we've created
- 10:07Speaker 1: in California. And and we look at this dynamic that
- 10:11Speaker 1: we're creating of sort of the root c o g
- 10:13Speaker 1: s and the new people who are coming in from
- 10:16Speaker 1: marketing and tech as as creating a really a dream
- 10:20Speaker 1: team for us to be able to to be able
- 10:23Speaker 1: to stay authentic and humble to where we came from,
- 10:26Speaker 1: but also to be able to take on a lot
- 10:29Speaker 1: of the other big influences that are going to be
- 10:31Speaker 1: coming in and do something that's really impactful. I didn't
- 10:35Speaker 1: know we were supposed to get stoned for this episode.
- 10:38Speaker 1: I was trying to clean out my system because Anna Array,
- 10:40Speaker 1: you told me, or someone from North cal told me,
- 10:42Speaker 1: in order to maintain a level of to maintain like tolerance,
- 10:52Speaker 1: right of solid baseline, thanks, you just need to be
- 10:54Speaker 1: high all the time, and then you can just be
- 10:56Speaker 1: extremely functional. Well, my problem is is that I have
- 10:58Speaker 1: such a high tolerance that that we it is just
- 11:01Speaker 1: going through me like it's not having any impact. So
- 11:03Speaker 1: I needed to take Someone from your team told me
- 11:06Speaker 1: to take either one day a week off of cannabis
- 11:08Speaker 1: or one week quarter one week a quarter, and I
- 11:13Speaker 1: don't know how to divide quarters. So I just started
- 11:15Speaker 1: taking a day a week off, also taking a week off.
- 11:18Speaker 1: But that isn't today, right, No, Well, I just took
- 11:21Speaker 1: a th HC capsule that somebody gave to me at
- 11:23Speaker 1: one of my shows on tour. It's ten milligrams of
- 11:26Speaker 1: th HC and they get you pretty fucked up, Brandon,
- 11:28Speaker 1: Do you want one? No, I'm good, thank you? Okay,
- 11:32Speaker 1: So everyone here is are you stone n Ray? Only
- 11:35Speaker 1: a little? I'm Baseline. Let's talk about cannabis. I love cannabis,
- 11:39Speaker 1: So let's talk about everybody's introduction, because I was reintroduced
- 11:42Speaker 1: to cannabis when it became legal in the state of California.
- 11:45Speaker 1: And what I've discovered is that it's a much nicer
- 11:47Speaker 1: way to go through life. Everybody's a lot less annoying,
- 11:51Speaker 1: Everybody is a little bit more tolerable and I'm able
- 11:53Speaker 1: to sit still. It's helped me meditate, and it's helped
- 11:56Speaker 1: me be less reactive. Brandon, you didn't start using drugs
- 11:59Speaker 1: until you started working for me, Is that correct? That's correct?
- 12:02Speaker 1: Tell us about that. When I started, I wanted to
- 12:05Speaker 1: get on Ambient and you said, no, they're getting on
- 12:07Speaker 1: a sleeping pill was not a good idea, and that
- 12:08Speaker 1: I should just take like a bite of an edible
- 12:10Speaker 1: before bed, and I really did not want to do that.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I like how he talked about getting on Ambient like
- 12:15Speaker 1: he's writing it. It's like, I mean to get on
- 12:17Speaker 1: the incredibly dangerous. Yeah, that's why I advised him against it,
- 12:20Speaker 1: to see, right, she she always knows. So I waited
- 12:25Speaker 1: a few weeks and I was like, I'm not gonna
- 12:27Speaker 1: do it. I'm not gonna do it. And then someone
- 12:28Speaker 1: at work gave me a peach ring and that was
- 12:31Speaker 1: my introduction to it. I just took a little bite
- 12:32Speaker 1: of this candy peat uring before bed, and I'm melted
- 12:35Speaker 1: into my pillows like it was the best feeling in
- 12:37Speaker 1: the world. And I thought, Ambient can't possibly give you
- 12:40Speaker 1: this feeling so well, you also don't remember it when
- 12:43Speaker 1: you take the ambient, Like you take the ambien, you
- 12:45Speaker 1: go to sleep, you wake up and ambience for birds.
- 12:48Speaker 1: It's the worst. I woke up with an empty pot
- 12:50Speaker 1: of spaghetti and the driver's seat of a car naked. No,
- 12:53Speaker 1: I would have my clothes on, but I had my
- 12:55Speaker 1: eyeshades around my neck, and I had an empty pot
- 12:57Speaker 1: of spaghetti in my car in the passenger seat. And
- 12:59Speaker 1: I can't and I don't. Apparently I went for a
- 13:02Speaker 1: drive and I cooked spaghetti, So yeah, I don't keep
- 13:05Speaker 1: post in the house, so I had to get it
- 13:08Speaker 1: to go and then went to a restaurant and cooked it.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Who knows what happened, but all I know is that
- 13:11Speaker 1: was the last time I took ambion. Maybe one more.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Now I've turned people onto it through that same way
- 13:16Speaker 1: that like if people are having a hard time getting
- 13:18Speaker 1: to sleep, because it just puts you in a nice
- 13:19Speaker 1: state before you fall asleep, Like it's not going to
- 13:21Speaker 1: knock you out, but if you're ready to wind down
- 13:23Speaker 1: at the end of the night, just take a little
- 13:25Speaker 1: bite of nettable or blueberry. The keep of blueberries I
- 13:27Speaker 1: really like, and that just puts in a good sleep space.
- 13:30Speaker 1: It is. It's really calming and I think people are
- 13:32Speaker 1: afraid of it. They don't realize how much it can
- 13:35Speaker 1: actually calm your system. I mean, it can also do
- 13:38Speaker 1: the opposite if you don't you know, if you misuse it.
- 13:41Speaker 1: But I feel like now with how it's dozed and
- 13:45Speaker 1: everything about it just is incredibly calming, and I think
- 13:47Speaker 1: people really need to embrace that piece of it. Yeah,
- 13:50Speaker 1: I think everybody. You know, I had a problem with
- 13:52Speaker 1: with sleeping pills. I took them all the time and
- 13:55Speaker 1: my big the biggest thing for me was switching from
- 13:58Speaker 1: sleeping pills to pop to go to sleep. So Anna, right,
- 14:02Speaker 1: what are the biggest complaints you hear, anxiety, sleeping? What
- 14:07Speaker 1: of the reasons people use cannabis. I think that people
- 14:11Speaker 1: like to use cannabis to elevate their consciousness in all
- 14:14Speaker 1: kinds of different ways. And it's just to open up
- 14:16Speaker 1: and to level out and so all the things that
- 14:19Speaker 1: you're talking about about being able to handle life better.
- 14:22Speaker 1: That is absolutely what the average woman, I think is
- 14:26Speaker 1: really looking for. And man and man and gay men
- 14:30Speaker 1: are on the same page about a lot of things.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Oh yeah, one should ban together and men and those
- 14:35Speaker 1: men should just come with us. And then my husband's
- 14:38Speaker 1: on my page. He's not gay, so I don't know
- 14:40Speaker 1: where that puts it, but he's on our page, so
- 14:44Speaker 1: I do. I actually don't think that it's limited to
- 14:46Speaker 1: gay men, like I think that there is no cannabis
- 14:49Speaker 1: is for everyone. That's one of the things that's so
- 14:51Speaker 1: amazing is that it crosses all demographics. When we have
- 14:55Speaker 1: looked into who the cannabis consumer truly is, it really
- 14:59Speaker 1: is everyone. It's not one age, one gender, one race.
- 15:04Speaker 1: It's everybody. And that is something that I can't think
- 15:08Speaker 1: of another product that crosses so many boundaries and can
- 15:11Speaker 1: bring people together, can make people happy when they're alone,
- 15:15Speaker 1: Can heal? Can heal? I mean it basically is as
- 15:19Speaker 1: good for us fiber. Yeah, that's good to know. Avocados, fiber, cannabis, Kale,
- 15:25Speaker 1: okay okale. Everybody loves kale. People can't get enough of
- 15:28Speaker 1: the ship. They moved on to Brussels sprouts. Uh no,
- 15:31Speaker 1: Brussels sprouts are already out. They didn't even stick around
- 15:34Speaker 1: for very long. People already over Brussels spouts. Now it's cauliflower,
- 15:37Speaker 1: So that's true fucking roughage. Anyway, I feel like a
- 15:42Speaker 1: lot of my girlfriends have major anxiety about having an edible.
- 15:45Speaker 1: People have this thing because everyone's been served a bad edible.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Everybody's had been o'deed, you know, and and been in
- 15:51Speaker 1: a corner of a room. In my experience, I was
- 15:53Speaker 1: in Mexico. I watched six of my family members just
- 15:56Speaker 1: pass out in front of me and I sat in
- 15:57Speaker 1: the dark for four hours, So I know a bad
- 16:00Speaker 1: edible those were. That was a chewy chewba and those
- 16:02Speaker 1: were strong, and I like chewy chubas, but not with
- 16:06Speaker 1: my family again, because they're pussies. What do you laughing?
- 16:11Speaker 1: Your sister has a very different version of that story. Really,
- 16:14Speaker 1: I would like to hear it. I mean, she acknowledges
- 16:18Speaker 1: that the one that that the times she does it,
- 16:20Speaker 1: that she doesn't necessarily like love it, but that she's
- 16:24Speaker 1: always happy that she does it, and she always has
- 16:26Speaker 1: fun and laughs and passes out, so she has they're weak.
- 16:30Speaker 1: My family's weak. And all the girls are weak to drugs.
- 16:33Speaker 1: They have a low tolerance and so you give them
- 16:35Speaker 1: an aspirin and everyone you know looks at you sideways,
- 16:37Speaker 1: So fuck them. No, they're good people. Well, I will say,
- 16:41Speaker 1: you know your dosage. When you're in a room with someone,
- 16:45Speaker 1: you can tell me like, when I got you those
- 16:47Speaker 1: th HC pills. Oh sorry, I was that she got
- 16:51Speaker 1: him in Denver, when you got those th HC pills.
- 16:53Speaker 1: And so if these are the ones that you got me,
- 16:55Speaker 1: that's fine to say. I don't know what I'm taking. Yeah,
- 16:57Speaker 1: she can't remember thinking because she's always stoned. But so
- 17:00Speaker 1: I had given her the pills and I'd asked her
- 17:03Speaker 1: how they were she had taken them one day and
- 17:05Speaker 1: she's like, I was off the walls like this is great.
- 17:07Speaker 1: I love this, And she goes, but you can't have one.
- 17:09Speaker 1: You couldn't. You couldn't tolerate it. And I trust that.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I know she works best for me, just like anyone else.
- 17:14Speaker 1: She's like, oh, you know, Mary should not have a
- 17:16Speaker 1: blueberry or so and so should Definitely Mary doesn't like
- 17:19Speaker 1: Mary doesn't like the weed. But most of my friends,
- 17:22Speaker 1: everyone I know now takes edibles almost every I mean
- 17:26Speaker 1: my last night, I was out with my friend's mom
- 17:27Speaker 1: and she was like, bring the blueberries, the ones you're
- 17:29Speaker 1: talking about that everyone loves. What's so amazing is that
- 17:33Speaker 1: now people can find their dose. And so you said
- 17:37Speaker 1: that you got into this a couple of years ago
- 17:39Speaker 1: with legalization. I've been in cannabis for a long time,
- 17:42Speaker 1: and ten years ago there was no such thing as dosing.
- 17:46Speaker 1: And so that's why people have so much fear from
- 17:50Speaker 1: edibles is because everybody has a story of their friend
- 17:54Speaker 1: from high school that made brownies and they were hiding
- 17:57Speaker 1: under a sheet on the couch all night. But now
- 18:00Speaker 1: that you have dosage, because we have a regulated cannabis marketplace,
- 18:05Speaker 1: this is not the same thing. And when you're talking
- 18:09Speaker 1: about a blueberry or an edible, like you can depend
- 18:12Speaker 1: on good products and you can find stuff in the
- 18:14Speaker 1: market that that you even if you're afraid to try
- 18:18Speaker 1: the first time, maybe once you try it, you realize
- 18:20Speaker 1: that it was a good experience and that you can
- 18:22Speaker 1: go back and you can keep having the same experience
- 18:24Speaker 1: because there's like consistency. Well, you know what's interesting about
- 18:27Speaker 1: that is a lot of times when people are reintroduced
- 18:29Speaker 1: to it, they will take something like a blueberry or
- 18:31Speaker 1: a small piece of chocolate and they'll say, like I
- 18:34Speaker 1: had a friend say, well, I don't feel any like,
- 18:35Speaker 1: I don't feel sucked up from this, And I think
- 18:37Speaker 1: the whole point is that's not how you're supposed to
- 18:39Speaker 1: feel any You're not supposed to feel fucked up unless
- 18:42Speaker 1: you want that. You want to feel like you're taking
- 18:44Speaker 1: the edge off standing down the end. Sometimes I do,
- 18:47Speaker 1: really sometimes that's like hiding in my front, you know more, Yeah,
- 18:55Speaker 1: because I'm like, oh god, it's been a day. But
- 18:57Speaker 1: I think just to go back to what you're saying,
- 18:59Speaker 1: and and I think I see it in a really
- 19:01Speaker 1: different perspective as someone who like grew up in Los
- 19:04Speaker 1: Angeles and has been around this culture for a very
- 19:07Speaker 1: long time, and like, you know, for me, I yeah,
- 19:11Speaker 1: I smoked a lot of of pot in college and
- 19:14Speaker 1: coming out of college, and then I did have kids,
- 19:15Speaker 1: and I did sort of take a break from from
- 19:17Speaker 1: it because I did have that fear that you're talking about,
- 19:20Speaker 1: because everything becomes greater when you become a mom, right,
- 19:23Speaker 1: there's so much more to lose. So for me, it
- 19:28Speaker 1: was getting reintroduced. I got reintroduced to it when packs
- 19:32Speaker 1: came out with the vaporizers that you put the actual
- 19:35Speaker 1: flower in the bottom of the vaporiser, and it was
- 19:37Speaker 1: life changing. It to your point, and to your pointinting
- 19:40Speaker 1: doesn't get me fucked up. It genuinely I think makes
- 19:43Speaker 1: me better at everything. In a good way, in a
- 19:46Speaker 1: positive way, in the sense that like I have more patience,
- 19:49Speaker 1: I can communicate better. I you know, I see the
- 19:53Speaker 1: world so much better and a more positive spin. I have,
- 19:57Speaker 1: you know, more clarity all the time. And I they that,
- 20:01Speaker 1: you know, I wish for all of you know, people
- 20:05Speaker 1: that I care about it, that are in anyone that
- 20:08Speaker 1: they can embrace it like that, because if people keep
- 20:10Speaker 1: having the stigma around it. And that's why I'm so
- 20:13Speaker 1: excited for you to do this brand, because I think
- 20:16Speaker 1: that people trust you and I think that you have
- 20:19Speaker 1: such You've done not on purpose, but but you have
- 20:23Speaker 1: done your research because because it has impacted your life
- 20:26Speaker 1: so positively that the authenticity that you bring to it
- 20:29Speaker 1: in the conversation that you can bring to it, that
- 20:31Speaker 1: you can get people to trust you that it's actually
- 20:34Speaker 1: going to benefit them in the long run, is like
- 20:37Speaker 1: really awesome. So I'm super excited, you know, to be
- 20:40Speaker 1: able to to watch that come into the marketplace and
- 20:42Speaker 1: hopefully help other people. Yeah, and I think there are
- 20:45Speaker 1: different reasons for everybody, you know, Like you're saying, like
- 20:48Speaker 1: there is a time you know that t HC Caps
- 20:50Speaker 1: Like I was out to lunch with my friend she
- 20:53Speaker 1: was going through a hard time. We're sitting there and
- 20:55Speaker 1: it hit me two hours after I had taken it.
- 20:58Speaker 1: So I was, you know, driving along with my driver, Billy,
- 21:00Speaker 1: and he drops me off at lunch, and so I
- 21:02Speaker 1: was fine when I got there, and then halfway through,
- 21:04Speaker 1: she's pouring her heart out to me, and I was
- 21:06Speaker 1: stoned out of my mind, and I was this was
- 21:09Speaker 1: just this weekend, and I was like uh. And finally
- 21:11Speaker 1: she stopped. I was like, I just gotta tell you,
- 21:13Speaker 1: I'm super high right now. It just hit me. I
- 21:15Speaker 1: took a capsule about three hours ago. I can hear you.
- 21:18Speaker 1: I just want you to know I don't know where
- 21:20Speaker 1: this is going. And then I was able to enjoy
- 21:22Speaker 1: myself because I knew the pressure was off. I didn't
- 21:24Speaker 1: have to drive anywhere, you know what I mean. I
- 21:26Speaker 1: was in a situation where I could be okay, space,
- 21:29Speaker 1: safe space. But it's all about that is what it's
- 21:32Speaker 1: all about. Like I think you have to have like
- 21:33Speaker 1: a mantra for yourself when you're getting stoned. A I'm
- 21:36Speaker 1: not going to be a fucking pig, and B I'm
- 21:40Speaker 1: in a safe space like set an intention. You know
- 21:42Speaker 1: how they talk about when you meditate and all of
- 21:44Speaker 1: that stuff. You know, you can just say, I'm going
- 21:47Speaker 1: to have a great time. And if you want to
- 21:48Speaker 1: try something out for the first time, do it at
- 21:50Speaker 1: your house where you're relaxed with people that you feel
- 21:53Speaker 1: safe with, and just try a half of whatever you
- 21:56Speaker 1: really want to try and see how it affects you.
- 21:58Speaker 1: And then the next night you can have a whole
- 22:00Speaker 1: one if you liked it, or you can never do
- 22:02Speaker 1: it again. But I think it's a really important to
- 22:04Speaker 1: impress upon people to really, this is helpful to you,
- 22:07Speaker 1: and it's out there and it's ready for you to grab.
- 22:10Speaker 1: The truth is there for you to grab. They write
- 22:13Speaker 1: that down, grab the Okay, we're gonna take a quick
- 22:20Speaker 1: break and we'll be right back. There's this idea of
- 22:24Speaker 1: self titration. What that means is is being able to
- 22:29Speaker 1: self dose yourself. And one of the things that I
- 22:31Speaker 1: really like about um like vape pens or smoking flowers,
- 22:36Speaker 1: is that you feel it immediately, so you don't have
- 22:39Speaker 1: to wait two hours, like you did it lunch and
- 22:42Speaker 1: like find yourself in some awkward spot you can try
- 22:45Speaker 1: it and then you can decide to take another hit
- 22:48Speaker 1: or take another hit after that because you feel it
- 22:51Speaker 1: right away. And I think that's a really good entry
- 22:53Speaker 1: point if someone feels comfortable with the vape and and
- 22:57Speaker 1: going through that process of inhaling something. And I know
- 22:59Speaker 1: some people well don't and they want to eat, which
- 23:02Speaker 1: is cool, But I like to be able to feel
- 23:04Speaker 1: it right away, so then I can make the choice
- 23:06Speaker 1: of like do I want to go deeper? Do I
- 23:08Speaker 1: want to go one more time? Or am I good?
- 23:10Speaker 1: And then you can just be like cool, I'm good.
- 23:12Speaker 1: And also it doesn't last as long when you take
- 23:14Speaker 1: a hit of a weed off a vape. It's like
- 23:16Speaker 1: thirty minutes, right, What is the time for that? Is
- 23:19Speaker 1: there a time? No? I mean everyone is different, you know,
- 23:21Speaker 1: like how much coffee you had and how much food
- 23:23Speaker 1: you ate and how much you're sweating all those things.
- 23:26Speaker 1: It's like moving through your system. I don't know. For me,
- 23:29Speaker 1: I think thirty minutes sounds about right. But that's also
- 23:32Speaker 1: why edibles can be unpredictable for a lot of people,
- 23:35Speaker 1: is because it depends on what you've eaten kind of
- 23:36Speaker 1: what do you have going on, and so it can
- 23:39Speaker 1: be delayed or can hit you right away and fade faster,
- 23:41Speaker 1: or you end up taking two because you're like, well,
- 23:43Speaker 1: I haven't felt that yet, so I'll take another. That's
- 23:45Speaker 1: the mystery part of it, though. If you can get
- 23:47Speaker 1: over that fear and just do it, that process in
- 23:50Speaker 1: and of itself is good for you. Well, I think
- 23:52Speaker 1: that's the thing. Everybody has this like fearful nature about
- 23:55Speaker 1: if they're resistant to marijuana. Some people aren't. Some people
- 23:58Speaker 1: are like, yeah, let's go full throttle. Some people are
- 24:00Speaker 1: very fearful, and that fear will drag into your pot
- 24:02Speaker 1: experience unless you release it and say, I'm not going
- 24:04Speaker 1: to be fearful right now, this is fun. I'm at
- 24:06Speaker 1: the beach. I can take a five milligram and handle
- 24:08Speaker 1: it myself. I'm not going to die, and it's just
- 24:11Speaker 1: going to improve your beach experience. And you yeah, right,
- 24:13Speaker 1: And who knows. Maybe the thing that I find to
- 24:16Speaker 1: be always a conversation starter when it comes to cannabis
- 24:19Speaker 1: and I met, you know, dinners with friends or with couples,
- 24:22Speaker 1: is I watch my friends drink after drink after drink,
- 24:28Speaker 1: and I'll have one to their like three. And it's
- 24:33Speaker 1: because i've you know, either gotten stoned before I got
- 24:35Speaker 1: there or gotten stoned while I was there or whatever
- 24:37Speaker 1: it is. They wake up feeling like ship. When they're drunk,
- 24:41Speaker 1: it's not as cool. You say some stuff you probably
- 24:44Speaker 1: wouldn't say when you were stoned, Like it's not like, well,
- 24:46Speaker 1: when you're stone, you can't remember what you were going
- 24:47Speaker 1: to say, so it works out perfectly. Well, that's just
- 24:50Speaker 1: an isolation to me and you. That's our special time
- 24:52Speaker 1: to gets that's our special plus plus time. We'll be
- 24:58Speaker 1: like in deep conversations since will just be talking. I'll
- 25:00Speaker 1: look at her and be like, what are we talking about?
- 25:02Speaker 1: And then I'll be like, I can't remember, I don't know,
- 25:04Speaker 1: and then usually she peas. At some point I stopped paying,
- 25:07Speaker 1: but she continues to be She paid on my hotel
- 25:10Speaker 1: room floor in some city on my first weekend at tour.
- 25:13Speaker 1: She ped she we were laughing so hard in my
- 25:15Speaker 1: hotel room. We were just mother having three kids and
- 25:23Speaker 1: and and having Chelsea make you laugh way too hard. Anyway,
- 25:28Speaker 1: we were face timing with her husband, and then she
- 25:29Speaker 1: dropped tround fell on the floor and I looked out
- 25:31Speaker 1: from the bathroom. I was like, what the fund is
- 25:33Speaker 1: going on out there? And she's on the floor with
- 25:35Speaker 1: her ass out, just urinating I mean, it was really
- 25:39Speaker 1: just a low point. I could get my pants off
- 25:46Speaker 1: hung up. He's like, see later, girls, He's like, yeah,
- 25:51Speaker 1: it looks like a work trip over there. Boon doggles
- 25:54Speaker 1: what we call that. And let's talk about because we
- 25:57Speaker 1: came up to Santa Rosa, where your headquarters are located,
- 25:59Speaker 1: because we've been coming and brainstorming and getting my brand together,
- 26:02Speaker 1: which is we're going to announce whenever we can, once
- 26:05Speaker 1: we get our name trademarked. And you had like a
- 26:07Speaker 1: party for us, which was so lovely, and you had
- 26:10Speaker 1: CBD drinks, which for me, you know, I've been pivoting
- 26:15Speaker 1: to cannabis rather than alcohol. I went through a phase
- 26:19Speaker 1: where I realized I didn't have to do both at
- 26:22Speaker 1: the same time, and then I just veered towards the cannabis.
- 26:26Speaker 1: It was a perfect party for me because you had
- 26:27Speaker 1: the cannabis drinks, so you were getting stoned while you
- 26:29Speaker 1: were drinking, which is genius and that's what everyone's going
- 26:32Speaker 1: to start doing in no time. But since you've seen
- 26:35Speaker 1: firsthand me change my drinking, right, you've seen me when
- 26:38Speaker 1: I was well, tell us about that for people out
- 26:41Speaker 1: there who are like me. No, yeah, I mean when
- 26:44Speaker 1: I first met you, you were a heavy drinker. I
- 26:46Speaker 1: think that you and and that's what I love so
- 26:48Speaker 1: much about you is that you're so open and vocal,
- 26:51Speaker 1: like you don't you don't care what people think. You
- 26:54Speaker 1: just want to share who you are and all those things.
- 26:56Speaker 1: And you did that with liquor to like you would
- 26:59Speaker 1: be like I love my vodka and I'm gonna drink
- 27:01Speaker 1: vodka and it gets me drunk and I love it
- 27:03Speaker 1: and boom, that's that. And then when you kind of
- 27:06Speaker 1: transition into this cannabis again, it was it was it
- 27:09Speaker 1: was organic for you. It wasn't like you consciously were like,
- 27:12Speaker 1: I'm going to switch to cannabis. It was kind of
- 27:15Speaker 1: that perfect storm for you with cannabis and with therapy
- 27:18Speaker 1: and with meditation, and they all played into each other.
- 27:21Speaker 1: And because you were getting so much fulfillment from that
- 27:25Speaker 1: piece of your life, like the liquor became less and
- 27:29Speaker 1: less and less unintentionally and yeah, you still have a
- 27:32Speaker 1: drink here and there, but it's like me, I'm I'm
- 27:35Speaker 1: one to three compared to some of my girlfriends or
- 27:38Speaker 1: you know, anyone. And I think that it it has
- 27:42Speaker 1: had a massively positive impact on you. And I've noticed
- 27:46Speaker 1: just how I mean, I know you're gonna laugh at me,
- 27:50Speaker 1: but you're just softer because of it. I think you're
- 27:52Speaker 1: softer partially because of the cannabis, but I think you're
- 27:55Speaker 1: you're softer because you don't drink, so you're not like
- 27:58Speaker 1: feeling shitty, right, like, you don't physically feel shitty. Well,
- 28:02Speaker 1: be the best part is everyone saying, oh, wow, you
- 28:05Speaker 1: look so great, and you you start to drop weight,
- 28:07Speaker 1: and then that becomes addictive. So it's just vanity. I
- 28:10Speaker 1: like to look good like, and as you age, you
- 28:12Speaker 1: have to be careful with alcohol and then what it
- 28:14Speaker 1: does to your skin and bloating. Yeah, but you didn't
- 28:16Speaker 1: even realize that until you stop drinking. Everyone who drinks
- 28:19Speaker 1: every day that they're not a victim of that, until
- 28:22Speaker 1: you stop drinking, and you're like, oh, oh, I'm thin,
- 28:26Speaker 1: it could be it could be so much easier. I
- 28:28Speaker 1: don't know. I don't have that. I don't drink a
- 28:30Speaker 1: lot and I'm not so if you could figure that
- 28:33Speaker 1: piece out for me, that'd be great. But yeah, I
- 28:36Speaker 1: I think that the transition that you've got, that you've
- 28:39Speaker 1: had from being a heavy, heavy drinker into now you
- 28:43Speaker 1: know a casual social drinker has been a really positive
- 28:48Speaker 1: thing for you and and just your whole being. So
- 28:52Speaker 1: you can make amazing cocktails with cannabis, yeah, and you
- 28:55Speaker 1: can put alcohol in them, but you can also skip
- 28:57Speaker 1: the alcohol. And when when you came and we the party,
- 29:00Speaker 1: we were doing like cucumberment juice with tincture in it,
- 29:04Speaker 1: and some people were putting tequila in it with the
- 29:07Speaker 1: tincture and some work that. I think I did that,
- 29:13Speaker 1: But you know, I think that alcohol and cannabis in
- 29:16Speaker 1: one beautiful cocktail together is like the very best time.
- 29:20Speaker 1: That's all. That's amazing. But also if you are going
- 29:24Speaker 1: down the health path, it's like the idea of still
- 29:27Speaker 1: getting to have a delicious, luxurious drink with your ladies,
- 29:30Speaker 1: like we all want that, and if you can put
- 29:33Speaker 1: a health elixir in it, when that is maybe going
- 29:36Speaker 1: to like lift you a little bit but also be
- 29:39Speaker 1: good for you. Well that's the thing. It's socially too.
- 29:42Speaker 1: I'm so much better like I used to be. I
- 29:44Speaker 1: used to walk into social environments, whether it was for
- 29:47Speaker 1: personal or professional, and I would just get like this
- 29:50Speaker 1: and be like, oh my god, I don't you know.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I would stumble and I wouldn't, you know what I
- 29:56Speaker 1: want to do it. And now it's like I'm like, oh,
- 29:58Speaker 1: I have to go to that work dinner. I'm gonna
- 30:01Speaker 1: eat a blueberry before and literally I could talk to
- 30:04Speaker 1: any stranger in the room, but like actually of a
- 30:07Speaker 1: conversation and not like oh she's stoned out of her mind,
- 30:09Speaker 1: like having real conversations that lead to work and like
- 30:14Speaker 1: great things. So it's just it also really helps that.
- 30:17Speaker 1: I think it definitely gets my creative juice is flowing.
- 30:20Speaker 1: If you just leave things alone and go about your days,
- 30:23Speaker 1: like I get more creative and I get more bursts
- 30:26Speaker 1: of like creative flows when I when I'm a little
- 30:28Speaker 1: bit stoned to you know, and even if you do
- 30:30Speaker 1: get stoned to be creative, like people do that a lot.
- 30:33Speaker 1: I haven't really done that, but I definitely polished up
- 30:35Speaker 1: my book and like touched it up and punched it up.
- 30:37Speaker 1: When I was stoned. I'd always taken edible and go okay,
- 30:40Speaker 1: right an, I know, last summer for a couple of
- 30:43Speaker 1: weeks and did a lot of writing, and like I
- 30:45Speaker 1: would have an edible and run off into the lake
- 30:49Speaker 1: for two hours and come back with a book chapter. Yeah,
- 30:53Speaker 1: because I was writing in the water, like she just described,
- 30:55Speaker 1: I went off with a book and on the beach
- 30:57Speaker 1: in the water and my typewriter, my desk top. Because
- 31:01Speaker 1: so for mothers out there who were talking about we're
- 31:03Speaker 1: talking about this, mothers who have to drive their kids
- 31:05Speaker 1: around all day, you know what I mean, people who
- 31:07Speaker 1: want to get a bit of understanding of you know,
- 31:10Speaker 1: what it's like to your mom. I am, And how
- 31:13Speaker 1: many kids do you have? I have one? Yeah, I
- 31:15Speaker 1: have I have a girl and a boy at home. Yeah,
- 31:21Speaker 1: I have three boys who are currently four and a half,
- 31:24Speaker 1: seven and nine. So for me, it also really helped
- 31:28Speaker 1: with my patients, Like after I had my third son,
- 31:31Speaker 1: I mean, it was the fucking nightmare. I mean, who
- 31:36Speaker 1: knew what type of day it was? Who knew who
- 31:38Speaker 1: was witch kid? Who knew who had like a diaper
- 31:42Speaker 1: on and didn't? It was? It was madness, and it's
- 31:45Speaker 1: just escalated into more madness. It's beautiful madness, but it's
- 31:48Speaker 1: madness at all times. It's it's a Calgon commercial, is
- 31:52Speaker 1: what it is. And you know, for me, it made
- 31:56Speaker 1: me such a better mom, Like it really, I know
- 32:00Speaker 1: that sounds crazy, you guys. I know my friends laugh
- 32:03Speaker 1: at me. I have some that can completely relate and
- 32:06Speaker 1: they're like I get it. I totally get it. And
- 32:08Speaker 1: then I have some who like just laugh at me
- 32:10Speaker 1: and think I'm I've lost my mind. But at the
- 32:14Speaker 1: end of the day, like I have more patience. I
- 32:18Speaker 1: enjoy the time with them so much more, Like they
- 32:21Speaker 1: could all be running around naked, peeing on floors and
- 32:25Speaker 1: with their mom paying and then I'll start people and
- 32:30Speaker 1: it's all good, Like I'm just able to figure it out,
- 32:33Speaker 1: even if I have to get angry, Like you're gonna
- 32:36Speaker 1: get angry when that pete turns into defecation and all
- 32:38Speaker 1: of you guys are shifting in the house, and that's
- 32:40Speaker 1: when you're going to really never going to happen find
- 32:43Speaker 1: your grows. You're literally if that happens that then you
- 32:46Speaker 1: need to take the cannabis away. Like if I ever
- 32:48Speaker 1: become okay with that, that's when we need like a
- 32:51Speaker 1: cannabis in a venetion like this is not acceptable that
- 32:54Speaker 1: I would like to point out a recurring theme in
- 32:56Speaker 1: these podcast episodes, which a ship. I noticed that when
- 32:59Speaker 1: I list to the Yeah, yeah, I know, it's just
- 33:02Speaker 1: something that happens, and you know what I'm not imposed
- 33:04Speaker 1: to talking about ship because everybody deals with it. So happens.
- 33:09Speaker 1: I was hanging out with four of my closest friends
- 33:12Speaker 1: over the weekend. We had moms spa day on Saturday.
- 33:14Speaker 1: It was amazing time. But all of these women, none
- 33:19Speaker 1: of them work in cannabis, and they're all moms, and
- 33:22Speaker 1: they all were just telling me how cannabis has become
- 33:25Speaker 1: this like key cooping mechanism for their fienthood. And I'm
- 33:29Speaker 1: not somebody that was like a before and after because
- 33:33Speaker 1: I've always had cannabis in my life. So it's hard
- 33:36Speaker 1: for me to be like, oh, life was terrible before
- 33:38Speaker 1: and then I found it. I've just been maintaining. Yeah,
- 33:42Speaker 1: I guess I'm kind of an o G. But my
- 33:44Speaker 1: girlfriends aren't that way. And they were all just like
- 33:46Speaker 1: gushing to me about how much better they are at
- 33:49Speaker 1: surviving their lives and their careers, which are there, every
- 33:52Speaker 1: single one of these women. They're all the breadwinners in
- 33:55Speaker 1: their households, their moms, their executives. They're badasses and they
- 33:59Speaker 1: all love we. Yeah, and so it's like, yes, there's
- 34:02Speaker 1: tons of new consumers and new women consumers that are coming,
- 34:05Speaker 1: but I think also, a lot of women just need
- 34:08Speaker 1: to be like, hey, let's come out of the closet
- 34:10Speaker 1: and admit that we're all into this, Like that's what's
- 34:14Speaker 1: so sad is that we have that they're like, has
- 34:16Speaker 1: to be an admission to it. Well, that's why we're
- 34:19Speaker 1: doing this, though, because I want to empower and embolden
- 34:21Speaker 1: women to be proud of their cannabis usage. And so, like,
- 34:25Speaker 1: I think there is a difference though, there's a degree
- 34:27Speaker 1: of like problem. They don't have a problem being like
- 34:30Speaker 1: I'm going to drink a bottle of wine when I
- 34:32Speaker 1: because wine is legal because we've been conditioning alcoholic I know,
- 34:36Speaker 1: I know, but people need to warm up to the idea.
- 34:37Speaker 1: And that's what that's why we're doing. And my kids school,
- 34:40Speaker 1: to go back to your question, and my kids school,
- 34:43Speaker 1: you they do this thing called party book and so
- 34:46Speaker 1: Mom's host all the you know, and you go in
- 34:48Speaker 1: and you sign up and you pay however much it
- 34:50Speaker 1: is for a ticket, and then the mom's host it whatever.
- 34:52Speaker 1: People different, there's different books. So there's tons of wine nights,
- 34:56Speaker 1: like like tons of them for mom wine nights, and
- 35:00Speaker 1: I'm like, let's do a mom cannabis night and They're like,
- 35:02Speaker 1: you're not allowed, and I'm like, huh, yes, you are.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Just just do it. But that's why I'm not a mom,
- 35:10Speaker 1: because I would have started that a long time ago
- 35:12Speaker 1: with my little bit. You've got to be respectful. But
- 35:14Speaker 1: there will be a day that it will be legal,
- 35:15Speaker 1: I understand, or that it will be accepted. I understand
- 35:19Speaker 1: that it's still so new and people are still like
- 35:21Speaker 1: trying to grasp it. Well. So I grew up in
- 35:24Speaker 1: the eighties and nineties in San Francisco, and it was
- 35:26Speaker 1: this huge movement about normalizing gayness right, and people kept
- 35:31Speaker 1: talking about there was the time that everyone was coming
- 35:33Speaker 1: out of the closet, and that everyone said that the
- 35:36Speaker 1: thing that normalized gayness the best is when the person
- 35:39Speaker 1: that works next to you in a cubicle turns to
- 35:42Speaker 1: you and says, hey, you might not know, but I'm gay.
- 35:46Speaker 1: And they're like, oh, but you like coffee and sandwiches
- 35:48Speaker 1: just like me, and and it's like this complete normalizing
- 35:52Speaker 1: of like, oh, this person that I relate to or
- 35:54Speaker 1: that I sit next to at my cubicle is actually
- 35:58Speaker 1: different and is of a It does something that I
- 36:01Speaker 1: didn't realize was something that was normal for me, And
- 36:05Speaker 1: in some ways, I think Chelsea, what you're doing with
- 36:08Speaker 1: cannabis is similar. You are loudly coming out of the
- 36:11Speaker 1: closet and there's all these people that listen to you
- 36:15Speaker 1: and read your books, and they're like, oh, well, she's
- 36:17Speaker 1: someone that I see myself in and I relate to her,
- 36:20Speaker 1: and she's into cannabis, So maybe cannabis is normal after all.
- 36:24Speaker 1: So I think a lot about the time that we
- 36:26Speaker 1: are in in the cannabis evolution, and the story of
- 36:29Speaker 1: the plant is about coming out time, kind of like
- 36:32Speaker 1: the eighties and nineties, like an analogy. Yeah, I like
- 36:36Speaker 1: coming out. I like that. That's a good way to
- 36:38Speaker 1: say it. Everybody needs to come out, come out for cannabis.
- 36:42Speaker 1: Let's talk about though, because there's a difference between escapism
- 36:44Speaker 1: and coping. Like coping is a one way, you know,
- 36:48Speaker 1: one thing that people need to do. And then there's
- 36:50Speaker 1: when you do, like you when you asked to see
- 36:52Speaker 1: when you and I do want to get blotted, there's
- 36:54Speaker 1: you know, we ramp it up and we go smoke
- 36:56Speaker 1: a joint, you know, and and sit outside underneath the stars,
- 36:59Speaker 1: caressing each other on the belower back, the small of
- 37:01Speaker 1: our backs. But that's escapism. Coping with the situation is
- 37:06Speaker 1: like a situation where I have to go into a
- 37:08Speaker 1: meeting that I know I'm going to be bored at
- 37:10Speaker 1: that I take a blueberry or I take a hit
- 37:12Speaker 1: of my babe, so just so that I am a
- 37:14Speaker 1: little bit more patient with how long things take and
- 37:17Speaker 1: how long people seem to talk. That's like motherhood. Think
- 37:19Speaker 1: about that, right, which is why I'm not cut out
- 37:21Speaker 1: for it, and which is why I opted out, and
- 37:24Speaker 1: not too late, thank you. That would be one hell
- 37:27Speaker 1: of a baby that I would take to full term.
- 37:31Speaker 1: And then there's also just kind of the people who
- 37:33Speaker 1: suffer from social anxiety. And what I wanted to piggyback
- 37:36Speaker 1: on what you were saying was I've never had social anxiety,
- 37:39Speaker 1: but I went through a period of time where I
- 37:41Speaker 1: was anxious going like I was gone for a year
- 37:43Speaker 1: and I came back and I just started going to
- 37:45Speaker 1: all these events with friends to catch up with people.
- 37:47Speaker 1: And I remember having social anxiety at that point because
- 37:49Speaker 1: I had been removed from my like circle for so long,
- 37:53Speaker 1: and I remember going to all these events and being like,
- 37:55Speaker 1: oh my god, I feel nervous, like I feel like antsy,
- 37:58Speaker 1: and it is to that you just you don't feel
- 38:01Speaker 1: the need to make small talk as as grossly as
- 38:05Speaker 1: you do when you're stoned, you know what I mean.
- 38:07Speaker 1: You're okay with the silence. You're okay with talking to
- 38:09Speaker 1: somebody and not drilling them with questions because you're nervous
- 38:12Speaker 1: about silence. You're able to sit with strangers and have normal,
- 38:16Speaker 1: calm conversations for from weed, I think, and it with
- 38:20Speaker 1: the social anxiety part of it, I think it helps
- 38:23Speaker 1: people not be in their heads so much. What do
- 38:26Speaker 1: I say, what do I do? Where do I talk to?
- 38:28Speaker 1: Where do I sit? It's just also a lot more
- 38:32Speaker 1: digestible to be on the receiving end of it as well,
- 38:34Speaker 1: like you have you want to think of it from
- 38:36Speaker 1: both sides, right. It's funny you just said that because
- 38:38Speaker 1: I literally just wrote down small talk I said. Did
- 38:41Speaker 1: my mom the other day? She was like, are you
- 38:43Speaker 1: gonna come with me to this thing? And I was
- 38:44Speaker 1: just like, no, I'm not. And She's like why, and
- 38:47Speaker 1: I was like, well, two reasons. You know. One, I
- 38:50Speaker 1: already have something I can't get out of, and two
- 38:52Speaker 1: is like I've just kind of evaluated the fact that
- 38:55Speaker 1: we all live such busy lives and they're all just
- 38:57Speaker 1: getting busier, right like everything, whether it's work, whether it's
- 39:01Speaker 1: being a mom, whether it's friendships that you have to maintain,
- 39:05Speaker 1: you know, anything. And so I have very little free
- 39:08Speaker 1: time to myself, like to my actual self, right like
- 39:11Speaker 1: between my job and my husband and my kids and
- 39:14Speaker 1: my family and everything wants to have sex with her
- 39:16Speaker 1: all the time. Anyway, this is about cannabis, not sex.
- 39:19Speaker 1: We can talk about sex on a different episode if
- 39:21Speaker 1: you want. But my point is is that my I
- 39:25Speaker 1: literally had this realization where I was just like, my
- 39:28Speaker 1: time is so limited, so I want to make sure
- 39:30Speaker 1: that I'm doing things with people that make me feel
- 39:33Speaker 1: good and people that I actually want to talk to,
- 39:35Speaker 1: because it is so it's becoming harder and harder to
- 39:39Speaker 1: go to stuff and actually have conversations with people who
- 39:43Speaker 1: who are lovely people and who I like and who
- 39:46Speaker 1: are wonderful. But the small talk where they're just basically
- 39:49Speaker 1: talking to me about my Instagram feed and they're like, oh,
- 39:52Speaker 1: I saw that you went on this vacation. How was that?
- 39:54Speaker 1: And you know, I see this and da da dah,
- 39:57Speaker 1: and it's just like gosh, you know, I know everyone's
- 39:58Speaker 1: coming from a good place, but it's it's hard. And
- 40:01Speaker 1: so when you have when you're stoned and you're in
- 40:04Speaker 1: those situations, you just embrace those conversations. Yes, that's what
- 40:08Speaker 1: just Yeah, you just embrace them and then you actually
- 40:10Speaker 1: get more out of them and you enjoy them more.
- 40:13Speaker 1: And so I guess whoever is listening anytime me, just know,
- 40:18Speaker 1: I'm really Stone. The world is a crazy place, but
- 40:24Speaker 1: I'm enjoying our conversation. Simona and I were up at
- 40:28Speaker 1: that Wisdom two point o conference that I did with
- 40:29Speaker 1: my psychiatrist a few months ago in San Francisco, and
- 40:32Speaker 1: we went to the dinner because my guy was like,
- 40:34Speaker 1: Dan said, come to the dinner. There's gonna be a
- 40:36Speaker 1: lot of you know, all of the speakers are going
- 40:37Speaker 1: to be there, and I was speaking. So I went
- 40:39Speaker 1: to the dinner and right before we walked in, Simona
- 40:42Speaker 1: and I popped an edible and and then we split up.
- 40:45Speaker 1: And then when I saw her at the end, I
- 40:47Speaker 1: was like, oh, I saw her like two hours later.
- 40:48Speaker 1: I was like, oh, hey, let's go. I'm done, and
- 40:51Speaker 1: she was like, I'm really Stone, and I was like,
- 40:54Speaker 1: that's so funny. I was looking for you because I'm
- 40:55Speaker 1: not stoned at all. Again, another indicator that my tolerance
- 40:58Speaker 1: has gotten too high. But we when we left, I
- 41:03Speaker 1: mean the way that it affects you different. I mean,
- 41:05Speaker 1: but it was a perfect buzz because I'm really still
- 41:07Speaker 1: not having a great time. Let's go out. You know,
- 41:09Speaker 1: it makes you want to be social, whereas sometimes you
- 41:12Speaker 1: some people revert, they want to be stone and go
- 41:14Speaker 1: home and be alone. That's good, but there's a social
- 41:17Speaker 1: aspect to marijuana too, and there's strains that actually kind
- 41:20Speaker 1: of trigger being social. And I want to talk to
- 41:22Speaker 1: you about the NAIRA, about the th HC. You're being
- 41:25Speaker 1: very quiet, Brandon. You have to you have stomach cramps
- 41:28Speaker 1: or something. No, are we on our period? We are, okay,
- 41:33Speaker 1: we we're on the same cycle. We've linked up. Um well,
- 41:39Speaker 1: I have a question for anyone who's listening, because again
- 41:41Speaker 1: I'm a relatively new user, but I think that CBD
- 41:44Speaker 1: has kind of been a good gateway for a lot
- 41:46Speaker 1: of people getting into th HC. That it's like a
- 41:48Speaker 1: you know, a touch point like, oh, well, I'm drinking
- 41:50Speaker 1: this CBD water and then they get introduced to the
- 41:53Speaker 1: t HC aspect. So for anyone listening, who doesn't know
- 41:55Speaker 1: the difference between those, n Ray, can you tell them
- 41:58Speaker 1: what what the differences are? Sure, I'll certainly try. So.
- 42:02Speaker 1: The idea is that there are a whole lot of
- 42:05Speaker 1: cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, in the flower, which is
- 42:09Speaker 1: what we make all the products out of, and we've
- 42:11Speaker 1: heard of th HC and CBD. Those are the carnabinoids
- 42:14Speaker 1: that are some of the most prevalent and popular. There's
- 42:17Speaker 1: over a hundred carnabinoids in in cannabis, but t h
- 42:21Speaker 1: C is the one that gets you really high. When
- 42:25Speaker 1: you say really high, you mean like changes your mental state. Yeah,
- 42:28Speaker 1: you know, like I want to be careful of because
- 42:31Speaker 1: I'm not a doctor or a science doctor. Chelsea is
- 42:34Speaker 1: the doctor. And people because I work in cannabis, they
- 42:38Speaker 1: love to ask me what they should be doing to
- 42:41Speaker 1: make them feel better. And I mean, I think cannabis
- 42:44Speaker 1: is the solution for everything. But I am not a doctor,
- 42:46Speaker 1: so I should say that I would also a doctor.
- 42:49Speaker 1: But but so you know, when the psychoactive experience that
- 42:55Speaker 1: you have when you consume cannabis often comes from t HC,
- 43:00Speaker 1: but then there's other things that might be affecting your
- 43:03Speaker 1: body from the other cannabinoids that you don't feel but
- 43:07Speaker 1: that are positive, and CBD is one of the cannabinoids
- 43:11Speaker 1: that can provide someone lots of positive benefits that they
- 43:14Speaker 1: may or may not feel. So CBD is anti inflammatory
- 43:19Speaker 1: and it really helps people that have pain often and
- 43:22Speaker 1: sometimes people that have sleeping problems to talk about using
- 43:26Speaker 1: CBD is something that just helps them to relax. But
- 43:29Speaker 1: you know, if I have a cocktail that I put
- 43:33Speaker 1: CBD in, I don't feel anything from it at all. Yeah. Zero,
- 43:37Speaker 1: And it's just because we're active cannabis. No, it's because
- 43:42Speaker 1: CBD does not have any psychoactive effects that come as
- 43:46Speaker 1: a result of it. You know, you've got to think
- 43:48Speaker 1: about it and that it's really hard to separate one
- 43:51Speaker 1: cannabinoid from the other. So usually when you get a product,
- 43:54Speaker 1: it might be high in CBD, but it still has
- 43:57Speaker 1: some THHD in it, and so you're going to get
- 44:00Speaker 1: high from the t HC, get that feeling that CBD though,
- 44:03Speaker 1: activates the th HC, right, Maybe I'm not sure. Oh,
- 44:07Speaker 1: I thought I heard that at one of our meetings.
- 44:09Speaker 1: I think I've heard that. Yeah, we'll check on that. Yeah,
- 44:11Speaker 1: but and then the th HC, So why why it's
- 44:13Speaker 1: hard to isolate a strain. For instance, the t H
- 44:15Speaker 1: t V is the strain that I'm drawn to because
- 44:17Speaker 1: it suppresses your appetite and it's kind of like pot's
- 44:20Speaker 1: answer to adderall. That's how I would describe it. And
- 44:23Speaker 1: it works for me. It decreases my appetite, but it's
- 44:25Speaker 1: hard to get it alone. You have to mix it
- 44:27Speaker 1: with other things to activate it. Correct. Yeah, because it
- 44:30Speaker 1: comes from a plant, right, and so it isn't actually
- 44:32Speaker 1: a stream. There's many different streams that might have t
- 44:35Speaker 1: h c V in it. But that plant that has
- 44:38Speaker 1: t h c V in it is also going to
- 44:39Speaker 1: have th hc it's going to have CBD, it's going
- 44:42Speaker 1: to have cv G and CBN and all these other
- 44:46Speaker 1: letters that are all of the CG. Do you know
- 44:48Speaker 1: what CBG is? Um it is another cannabinoid. I'm not
- 44:51Speaker 1: great game for a band. Nice. Yeah, I'm not sure
- 44:55Speaker 1: exactly what the effects are. That's one of the things.
- 44:58Speaker 1: You know. Cannabis is so new. They're are so many
- 45:01Speaker 1: studies that have yet to be done. And that's why
- 45:04Speaker 1: everybody should wait in carefully, right, Like everyone should come
- 45:08Speaker 1: in now that you have a micro dosing possibility. I
- 45:11Speaker 1: know this isn't available everywhere in the country yet, but
- 45:13Speaker 1: it will be because everyone's realizing now that there's no
- 45:16Speaker 1: turning back and Republicans can even make money from this.
- 45:19Speaker 1: But you can just enter the marketplace. I mean, there
- 45:21Speaker 1: are mints available like where where we live for two
- 45:24Speaker 1: and a half milligrams, those Petri mints, which are great
- 45:27Speaker 1: especially for skiing. Right Brandon, we skied together on those.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Because you're not fucked up, but you're it's a little
- 45:33Speaker 1: bit of an uptick for me, especially if you're in
- 45:35Speaker 1: an environment, if you're outdoors, it's whatever you make. It
- 45:38Speaker 1: is what I would. It was what how I feel
- 45:40Speaker 1: about cannabis, Like if I want to go to bed,
- 45:42Speaker 1: then I'm in that mindset to go to bed. I
- 45:45Speaker 1: don't rely so much on the indica versus sativa. I
- 45:48Speaker 1: find that to be kind of misleading. Is absolutely well,
- 45:51Speaker 1: I think. So there are a lot of what we're
- 45:52Speaker 1: talking about. There are a lot of words associated with
- 45:54Speaker 1: cannabis that people might not know or might have been
- 45:57Speaker 1: given misdirection on. So to Chelsea's points, sitiva indica, Uh,
- 46:00Speaker 1: those are two different strains that people often look at,
- 46:02Speaker 1: Like on the packaging for unedible or whatever that is
- 46:05Speaker 1: supposed to give them an indication of the feeling that
- 46:08Speaker 1: they'll get, but that's not often the case. Yeah, and
- 46:10Speaker 1: so they're not really straight warning there their type of
- 46:13Speaker 1: their type of plants, right, their categories, their families, um
- 46:18Speaker 1: and and so yeah, they don't give you the effects
- 46:21Speaker 1: that people think. People think, oh, Indica couch locks Ativa upper.
- 46:26Speaker 1: It's just not like that. But like when we were
- 46:27Speaker 1: a standard, for instance, I would take it. I would
- 46:29Speaker 1: take a Petra, he would take one the two and
- 46:31Speaker 1: a half milligrams and you're up. It's like you're you
- 46:33Speaker 1: feel upbeat, you're happy, you have more energy because you're
- 46:36Speaker 1: surrounded by the mountains, and that's the vibe that you're
- 46:38Speaker 1: going to get, you know, lean into. I think to
- 46:40Speaker 1: your point is that if you're already in that mindset
- 46:42Speaker 1: where we wanted to be out skiing, we were already
- 46:44Speaker 1: having a good time, it just elevated using enhanced But
- 46:47Speaker 1: that's what cannabis does period across the board, right, So
- 46:50Speaker 1: whatever state, it's just it's like when I gave Chunk
- 46:53Speaker 1: a sleeping pill on his flight to Spain and he
- 46:55Speaker 1: was in a state of agitation. I later found out,
- 46:57Speaker 1: So he was in a constant state of agitation. Excuse me, Brandon,
- 47:00Speaker 1: he was okay, he was in a constant state of
- 47:03Speaker 1: agitation after I gave him the pill. So you know
- 47:06Speaker 1: that didn't work out for him. So if you're in
- 47:07Speaker 1: a bad mood and you take part, it's probably just
- 47:09Speaker 1: going to be more bad on bad. You know what
- 47:12Speaker 1: I mean? You should know. No, I don't agree with that.
- 47:14Speaker 1: I'll be in a bad mood. I'll be like I
- 47:16Speaker 1: just got to get stoned stressed and then I'm happy.
- 47:19Speaker 1: You know that that, Like even even when was it
- 47:22Speaker 1: the other day I was like, Oh, I have a
- 47:24Speaker 1: really bad headache and I'm just grumpy. I'm gonna smoke
- 47:26Speaker 1: a joint and find it turned me around and like
- 47:30Speaker 1: it turned my day around Canada. So if you if
- 47:34Speaker 1: you're agucated about something with the kids or with work,
- 47:37Speaker 1: or you're stressed, it really does just take the edge off.
- 47:40Speaker 1: It kind of puts you back to center and you
- 47:42Speaker 1: can deal with a lot of you with kids, Brandon, well,
- 47:45Speaker 1: I like, wow, But Chelsea, you know, with with the products,
- 47:51Speaker 1: I think that all these questions you have are the
- 47:53Speaker 1: same kind of questions that everyone has. People are confused
- 47:57Speaker 1: about cannabinoids and people are talking I was pronouncing cannabinoids.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Is that wrong? Is are you saying it the right way?
- 48:02Speaker 1: I don't know. I think I'm saying it the right way,
- 48:04Speaker 1: but someone else probably thinks I'm saying it the wrong way.
- 48:07Speaker 1: So okay, So either way, I'm not judging you, hopefully
- 48:12Speaker 1: you're not. I'm judging myself actually, which is where I'd
- 48:15Speaker 1: like to stay. Well. Another important part of not to
- 48:18Speaker 1: go back to your brand, but something that I've really
- 48:21Speaker 1: enjoyed getting see the brand be built is your emphasis
- 48:24Speaker 1: on education for people who are getting reintroduced, because, like
- 48:27Speaker 1: you said, a lot of people have a bad experience
- 48:29Speaker 1: early on and then they don't know how to get
- 48:31Speaker 1: back into it or you know, they're hearing inaccurate information,
- 48:34Speaker 1: and so that's something that's been at the forefront for you.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Is anyone who is interested in getting back into it,
- 48:39Speaker 1: the packaging, the way things are described, giving them an
- 48:42Speaker 1: accurate representation to help them reintroduce themselves in a way
- 48:46Speaker 1: that they're not going to turn on it again. Yeah,
- 48:49Speaker 1: you want to feel safe. I want people to feel safe.
- 48:51Speaker 1: I don't want people to feel scared, because it's just Okay,
- 48:54Speaker 1: well this sounds like a good time to take a break.
- 48:58Speaker 1: And what's so cool is how actively involved you are
- 49:01Speaker 1: in putting the product vision together. Um, this is not
- 49:05Speaker 1: a celebrity endorsement. This is you spending an enormous amount
- 49:09Speaker 1: of time with our team trying to figure out exactly
- 49:12Speaker 1: what we want to launch together. It's authentic, which has
- 49:16Speaker 1: been a really fun process to get to be a
- 49:18Speaker 1: part of. Yeah, it has been really fun. It's been
- 49:21Speaker 1: fun to take because like Allison said, you know with
- 49:23Speaker 1: the therapy, with the pot, with all of it kind
- 49:25Speaker 1: of works together. The meditation. I mean you don't really meditate, Allison, right,
- 49:29Speaker 1: I don't, you know, But I mean Brandon just started medicaate.
- 49:32Speaker 1: We will do a couple's meditation later, Brandon, because that's
- 49:36Speaker 1: the whole day. But I think all of it goes together.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Like even Dan, my psychiatrist, is like, I just love
- 49:41Speaker 1: you on the pot. It's softer. It's just I have
- 49:43Speaker 1: to be honest. I love you on the plant. Mary
- 49:45Speaker 1: says it to and Mary always tells the truth. I
- 49:46Speaker 1: could tell there was like the past a few weeks ago,
- 49:50Speaker 1: you weren't on the pot as much, and it was
- 49:51Speaker 1: there was a visible difference, right, Brandon. Yeah, when she
- 49:55Speaker 1: had she had to take a little break because of
- 49:56Speaker 1: her cough. Oh yeah, I got sick and so I
- 49:58Speaker 1: couldn't smoke anymore and like, okay, what's going on? Yeah,
- 50:02Speaker 1: I was irritable. That's not good either. I have to
- 50:04Speaker 1: be able to This is what Dan tells me. He says, Chelsea,
- 50:07Speaker 1: if you can maintain that level of happiness and contentment
- 50:10Speaker 1: when you're stoned, it's already in your psyche, so you
- 50:12Speaker 1: should be able to access that on any day without
- 50:15Speaker 1: the pot. And what I want to say to Dan
- 50:17Speaker 1: is I'm not there yet, but you're working towards it,
- 50:20Speaker 1: and you will get there. You will maybe people like me,
- 50:24Speaker 1: you're Brandon, need to remind you when you're not on
- 50:28Speaker 1: the pot and you're starting to not show those signs
- 50:31Speaker 1: that you need to. I'll shoot you a text. You
- 50:33Speaker 1: can handle that. You shoot me a text, all Mark,
- 50:36Speaker 1: you shoot me the text, and that way we can
- 50:38Speaker 1: just do it an errand when that happen. But the
- 50:42Speaker 1: other morning we were at the house, Nor consent all
- 50:44Speaker 1: the samples, and there were I don't know how many,
- 50:46Speaker 1: like five pens. Now now there were fifty. I'm picking
- 50:49Speaker 1: the flavors right now for everybody. So I'm picking the
- 50:51Speaker 1: flavors that I think, well, I want to pick the
- 50:53Speaker 1: flavors that I like first and foremost, so that whatever
- 50:56Speaker 1: you know applies to one person applies to many. But
- 50:58Speaker 1: we're going to do a limited so I have to
- 51:00Speaker 1: like nail down the real flavors I like. And so
- 51:02Speaker 1: there's a lot of contenders with all these flavors that
- 51:05Speaker 1: you were testing. We were sitting at the counter and
- 51:06Speaker 1: they sent us a bracket to narrow down what her
- 51:09Speaker 1: top picks were. Well, so this is nine in the morning,
- 51:12Speaker 1: We're sitting here and we're going through. We're going through
- 51:14Speaker 1: the bracket, tasting all the flavors, and we spent the
- 51:16Speaker 1: entire day together. We went to the lunch, when we
- 51:18Speaker 1: hung out in the afternoon. It was Brandon's favorite day.
- 51:20Speaker 1: It was the best day. I'm like, this is how
- 51:22Speaker 1: every day should be. If everyone just woke up and cannabis.
- 51:25Speaker 1: I said, I go, I have a full day, but
- 51:26Speaker 1: I have no other time to taste all these pens
- 51:28Speaker 1: and to do the flavors. I'm like, I'm just gonna
- 51:30Speaker 1: have to get stoned right now. And sure enough turned
- 51:32Speaker 1: into a great victory that day, I got it. I
- 51:34Speaker 1: love those days. Yeah, so I'm gonna have one of
- 51:36Speaker 1: those today. Yeah. It's hard to judge products all at
- 51:40Speaker 1: once because you can't tell how they individually affect you.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Last month, I was a judge for the High Times
- 51:47Speaker 1: Cup and I received twenty one Graham samples of flour
- 51:51Speaker 1: and I was supposed to say which one was the
- 51:55Speaker 1: most delicious or which one was the most effective. And
- 51:58Speaker 1: after about three it's kind of hard to They're all
- 52:03Speaker 1: they're all so effective. So how did you space it
- 52:08Speaker 1: out throughout the day so that you could tell the
- 52:09Speaker 1: different Well, this was just a flavor test. The only
- 52:12Speaker 1: tested for flavor, and so this wasn't a high test,
- 52:16Speaker 1: so I could just do it back to back to
- 52:17Speaker 1: back to back. But she got very high. Just to clarify, well,
- 52:20Speaker 1: I will say the day before it was when we
- 52:22Speaker 1: had the meeting with the North cal team and when
- 52:24Speaker 1: they brought those down and you and I had and
- 52:26Speaker 1: it was an end of day meeting, but I had
- 52:28Speaker 1: somewhere to be after. I did not know you did
- 52:31Speaker 1: not our meetings have turned into And she was like,
- 52:33Speaker 1: just try this flavor, and just try this flavor. I'm like,
- 52:35Speaker 1: oh gosh, but it ended up working out great. I'm
- 52:38Speaker 1: really into jelly ranchers, you know. I love green apple
- 52:42Speaker 1: and I love blue raspberry, like all those fake flavors,
- 52:44Speaker 1: but they taste so not for me. Now, i know
- 52:47Speaker 1: that's not for everybody, So I've got to get away
- 52:49Speaker 1: from my saclin. It's hard when you're designing a product too,
- 52:52Speaker 1: to get away from like, we're also self centered in
- 52:54Speaker 1: our lives. Yeah, that what I like is the very
- 52:57Speaker 1: best thing right now everyone's like it, and I'm sure
- 53:00Speaker 1: you're probably going through that as well, of what's the
- 53:02Speaker 1: difference between the thing that I like and what everyone
- 53:05Speaker 1: else will like the best. I'll say the samples were
- 53:07Speaker 1: the one thing though that normally I can pick out
- 53:09Speaker 1: what she would like based on her history, and a
- 53:12Speaker 1: lot of the flavors she picked I was surprised by.
- 53:14Speaker 1: I think more people will enjoy them than just what
- 53:17Speaker 1: she would gravitate towards. So I think that says a
- 53:20Speaker 1: lot to cannabis doesn't always translate to like your your
- 53:23Speaker 1: other tastes or your other preferences, because it is a
- 53:25Speaker 1: different experience like smoking something or you know, having a
- 53:28Speaker 1: nibble of something is a lot different than gorging. Yeah,
- 53:31Speaker 1: and I also don't like. I mean, I'm moving away
- 53:34Speaker 1: from I love the edibles. That's where I started. That
- 53:36Speaker 1: was my entry point. Now I'm moving into the vapens.
- 53:38Speaker 1: But I get a little wheezy when I smoke. I
- 53:40Speaker 1: think I might have emphysema or on set something. I
- 53:43Speaker 1: don't know. Last night I was in bed breathing funny,
- 53:45Speaker 1: So I don't want to make sounds when I breathe.
- 53:46Speaker 1: I'm just like, I'm not ready for that. Sissy smokes
- 53:49Speaker 1: a lot of the joints, and I don't smoke joints yet, right, Brandon,
- 53:52Speaker 1: you're not there yet, still flowering. I don't like the
- 53:56Speaker 1: process of smoking. I don't I don't like the process.
- 53:59Speaker 1: I don't like the ashtra. I don't like. I'm never
- 54:00Speaker 1: going to finish a whole joint, so I'm going to
- 54:02Speaker 1: put it out and then leave it there and then
- 54:04Speaker 1: what I have to cover it. Well, that's why we're
- 54:05Speaker 1: creating sustainable packaging for your brand, so that there's somewhere
- 54:11Speaker 1: to put it right. You can put it inside of
- 54:13Speaker 1: yourself if you want to, but that also is not
- 54:16Speaker 1: medically recommended. I don't know. I I just it's not
- 54:20Speaker 1: even about the task for me, it's just more about
- 54:23Speaker 1: the product. It's not that I don't like the apens.
- 54:25Speaker 1: I do. I'll use them when needed, you know. But
- 54:28Speaker 1: like if I'm in an environment where I'm like, oh,
- 54:30Speaker 1: I need to get a little bit more stoned, I'll
- 54:32Speaker 1: smoke on a eapen because that's what is there. But
- 54:34Speaker 1: if I can always smoke a joint, I do just
- 54:36Speaker 1: because I prefer the product, and I prefer the flour,
- 54:40Speaker 1: and I prefer the high. It also keeps you stoned
- 54:43Speaker 1: for longer. The joint keep you stoned for It just
- 54:47Speaker 1: depends on how much of the joint you smoke and
- 54:50Speaker 1: what you know if it's a strong flower, mild flower
- 54:54Speaker 1: an hour right. And there's something old school and about
- 54:59Speaker 1: the act of sharing a joint with someone because before
- 55:02Speaker 1: when we would get stoned when it was illegal, And
- 55:04Speaker 1: everyone's smoked pot at some point, and if you haven't,
- 55:07Speaker 1: then I don't know what your problem is. But like
- 55:10Speaker 1: the last time I smoked, I was living in l A,
- 55:12Speaker 1: I was living in Santa Monica. I got really, you know,
- 55:13Speaker 1: you don't know what you're smoking, so you don't know
- 55:15Speaker 1: what it's laced with or what kind of weed it is,
- 55:17Speaker 1: and usually it was fine, but you'd always get some
- 55:19Speaker 1: stuff that was really shitty, you know, or taste like
- 55:21Speaker 1: parsley or whatever they did in high school. And I
- 55:24Speaker 1: remember driving home from Santa Monica. I was as a
- 55:27Speaker 1: kite to thirty in the morning, so paranoid, so paranoid,
- 55:30Speaker 1: and driving on that street California that runs parallel to
- 55:33Speaker 1: Wilshare and just being convinced that a police officer was
- 55:36Speaker 1: behind me, and I was like, going from street to street,
- 55:39Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god, Oh my god, and you know,
- 55:40Speaker 1: you know that paranoia grip is so scary, and you're
- 55:42Speaker 1: just like, I'm such a loser. I pulled over to
- 55:44Speaker 1: the side of the road on like twenty third Street,
- 55:46Speaker 1: got out of my car, hid in a bush for
- 55:48Speaker 1: four hours because I was waiting for the cops to
- 55:51Speaker 1: pass me for four hours. And I was like, you
- 55:54Speaker 1: know what, this is no way to live. I was
- 55:56Speaker 1: twenty two waitressing and it was just a typical knighte
- 55:58Speaker 1: for me to be sleeping in the bushes and away.
- 56:00Speaker 1: But like I at that point, I was like, no,
- 56:02Speaker 1: I'm not doing this. On my neck hurts because I'm
- 56:04Speaker 1: so fucking stressed from like looking at like a crackhead.
- 56:07Speaker 1: But a lot of people talk about their paranoia and
- 56:10Speaker 1: their level of paranoia when they smoke weeds. So let's
- 56:13Speaker 1: discuss that and how to avoid it. Yeah, because that
- 56:15Speaker 1: also is coming from a fearful place. It is, And
- 56:18Speaker 1: I'll still sometimes get paranoia. Like I I called you
- 56:21Speaker 1: not that long ago and I was like, oh my god, Cissy,
- 56:22Speaker 1: I got way too stone tonight, remember, And You're like,
- 56:25Speaker 1: don't get in your head. You're fine, Like I think
- 56:28Speaker 1: that you know that's gonna I don't know. Yanna Ray
- 56:32Speaker 1: can speak more to maybe the science behind why that
- 56:35Speaker 1: happens too, you know, with cannabis. But what I always
- 56:38Speaker 1: tell myself and I've worked on this is at the
- 56:42Speaker 1: end of the day, I'm like, you're fine, enjoy it,
- 56:45Speaker 1: like you're gonna be okay, You're gonna be fine. And
- 56:47Speaker 1: when you're in those circumstances where you're feeling paranoid or vulnerable,
- 56:52Speaker 1: just switch up the circumstance. Like you know, I recently
- 56:56Speaker 1: got in a car after dinner one night and I
- 56:58Speaker 1: was like, oh, I think I'm too stone to drive,
- 57:00Speaker 1: And I pulled over and I didn't drive until I
- 57:02Speaker 1: felt really like I was totally fine. I think that
- 57:05Speaker 1: was the same night that it was. I wasn't going
- 57:08Speaker 1: to say anything for you to come around on that,
- 57:10Speaker 1: but like I knew the same. Yeah, but you have
- 57:14Speaker 1: to be like you're like, there's just also to be
- 57:18Speaker 1: you can be responsible, like you can control those situations
- 57:22Speaker 1: of paranoia, and they happen less and less and less
- 57:26Speaker 1: and less and less. Well, as soon as you get
- 57:28Speaker 1: more comfortable with yourself, you've become less paranoid. So we
- 57:31Speaker 1: all have those issues of it. It's not like anybody's
- 57:33Speaker 1: immune from it. It's just more people are more. Can
- 57:35Speaker 1: I tell you something? And Rich always says this to me,
- 57:38Speaker 1: And I have more paranoia if I go out and
- 57:42Speaker 1: I get wasted, right and I'm in a social environment
- 57:46Speaker 1: amongst friends or acquaintances or whatever it is, I wake
- 57:49Speaker 1: up the next day more paranoid about what you said,
- 57:52Speaker 1: about what did we say? What did I say? What
- 57:55Speaker 1: did I did? I say? Goodbye to forget any of it.
- 57:57Speaker 1: But like you know, where as that paranoia to me
- 58:01Speaker 1: is such the worst feeling worse to wake up and
- 58:04Speaker 1: not know what the yeah, and like that does not
- 58:07Speaker 1: happen if you get too stoned, you know what I mean,
- 58:11Speaker 1: Like nothing happens. That's why nothing happens, because you're starting
- 58:15Speaker 1: to do anything totally. I think that legalization helps the
- 58:19Speaker 1: paranoia too, because I think so much paranoia has come
- 58:23Speaker 1: from people feeling like they were doing something wrong and
- 58:26Speaker 1: then you get elevated and lifted. Then you're like, oh
- 58:29Speaker 1: my god, this is wrong. I'm doing something illegal. Oh
- 58:31Speaker 1: my god. And now people don't have to feel that anymore.
- 58:35Speaker 1: And that I think already for you professional, I think,
- 58:41Speaker 1: because you probably are a very high functioning cannabis user.
- 58:46Speaker 1: Whereas for the people who aren't high functioning cannabis users,
- 58:51Speaker 1: like they don't know how to work through the times
- 58:56Speaker 1: of when that paranoia hits, Like that's when it becomes
- 58:59Speaker 1: I think a little bit of the fear that comes
- 59:02Speaker 1: into it. And I think in so many ways, the
- 59:06Speaker 1: process of being paranoid, the process of like being really high,
- 59:11Speaker 1: are not bad in the end. It's just once you
- 59:13Speaker 1: get through it and get on on the other end,
- 59:16Speaker 1: like hopefully some of the cobwebs are cleaned out a
- 59:18Speaker 1: little in your brain. I think about that of all
- 59:21Speaker 1: of the pathways and our brains, that are the patterns
- 59:25Speaker 1: that we get caught up in and and sometimes substances,
- 59:28Speaker 1: whether it's cannabis or psychedelics or meditation, all of these
- 59:33Speaker 1: things are like creating new pathways in our brains, and
- 59:36Speaker 1: that just opens up more choice for us to be
- 59:38Speaker 1: able to experience the world differently and to feel better
- 59:42Speaker 1: about ourselves as humans. And it's confidence, right, It's just
- 59:46Speaker 1: when you start to have that paranoia, that just means
- 59:48Speaker 1: that your confidence is impaired a little bit. And so
- 59:51Speaker 1: you know that I've always worked, I've always worked through
- 59:54Speaker 1: it in in continuing, Like if I get into that
- 59:57Speaker 1: zone where I start to go to dark places, like
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: oh my god, there's a ghost in your house, you know,
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: liked I go to like paranoia places. Do you believe
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: in ghosts? But I mean, you know I do, actually,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: but I don't believe in them hunting but no, but
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: I'm or like I'm afraid there's going to be an
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: earthquake or whatever, like whatever paranoia you know, Like when
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: when rich was gone hiking the two weeks ago with Sydney,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: he went hiking with her oldest, her eldest and they
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: and well he did fall off a bridge on that trip,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: so that was traumatic. So but he was gone and
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: didn't call her way, well, didn't have service, didn't have
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: a bridge. Maybe that was mother's intuition it was, So
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: let's just not talk about it because but she got
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: Really you did get in a state. Oh and but
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: you were right. So that's not a good example because
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: you were right about your at the end of the day.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Like I said, I think that the paranoia comes with confidence.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Like I I have found that I get less and
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: less and less and less and less, almost to the
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: point of no paranoia now when I get stoned, because
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: I am confident in your ability to get my ability
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: yet my ability to get stone, but just how to
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: work through it like that, when that paranoia starts to
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: trigger in my head, I really have been able to
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: work through it. And probably because of the cannabis. To
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: be honest with you, well, I think a lot of
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: the confidence that you're talking about comes from knowing your
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: limit too. So you have to test sometimes you have
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: to go over what you should because you have to learn, like, Okay,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: that threshold for me, it's too far, like I can't
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: hit that joint this many times, or I can't take
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: this many edible. So you have to have those moments
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: of lack of judgment to realize like, Okay, this is
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: a good level for me, just like drinking, like okay,
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: I can't have six vodka sodas, Like I need to
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: stick to this is my comfort level for a good buzz.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: It is. It's hard, though, Its funny because you get
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: to a place where you start to when you're drinking less,
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: you start to notice how much more everyone else is drinking.
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: And I don't like to be in that position. I
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: don't want to be judging about people. So like you
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: have to really back it up because because when people,
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: especially my friends, are like what do you do? Oh,
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: you're drinking, you know, or you're not drinking, what are
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: you doing? I'm like always have to tell everyone I'm stoned.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: Don't worry, I'm on your level. I'm just stoned. Like
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: I'm here with you. Because my friends are drinkers, a
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: lot of them, and they are they're you know, probably
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: worry that I'm just thinking when we were thinking of
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: my Brentwood Housewives girl to that. Brendon is very very
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: sensitive about me becoming bo I think it's just like
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: this transition, like she's going to wake up one day
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: and be a Brentwood housewife. She's gonna have a husband there,
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: I don't know, she's gonna have kids, and she's going
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: to be unbearable. I mean those of women. Yeah, I know, Brandon.
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: I've had some Brentwood parties at my house for friends.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: I have a lot of friends that are Brentwood moms,
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: and I am. I am technically a Brentwood mom right exactly.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: So that's so I have to but I have to
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: not be defined by that, Allison. Nothing defines me. But
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: you know what I was really laughing about, Maybe you
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: can redefine the Brentwood mom. She's going to have to
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: with her weedline. That's what's gonna happen. Well, that's what
- 1:02:55Speaker 1: we're working on. Aren't trusting school? Isn't that Maybe I
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: am a Brentwood I'm the one I go to. I'm
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: the one who goes to the to the party, the
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: party books with my girlfriends. And I have some wonderful,
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: wonderful girlfriends that go to our Brentwood moms that I
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: adore and I love so much. And I'm always the
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: one like who wants a bean, who wants a joint,
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: who wants a vape? And they all look at me.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: They're like, we wish we could be as open as
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: you are with it, and like embrace it the way
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: that you do. You know, one of my closest friends,
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: mom of three boys, has her own business, and she
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: is just so petrified to take that jump. And we'll
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: send her over to my house. I'll get her on
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: the street, trust me, and I've tried. And her husband
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: is an active cannabis user too, and like I'm like,
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: I promise you it will change your life for the better.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: And she knows it. She knows it. I would like
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: to do a retreat or we just take a bunch
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: of women who are just tight asked and need to relax,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: you know what I mean, They need to chill out
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: for a weekend and we just get everybody fucking stoned
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: and ganja yoga, Ganja yoga Yoga's where you lost me.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: I'm not there yet, all right, Well, maybe that should
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: be our launch party for the brand. I do work
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: out high now too, so that's something I transitioned into doing.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: I don't work out high. I also don't go to
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: work high that I have a hard like for today.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: If well this, I don't consider working men neither. Whenever
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I'm with you, it's not considered working. It's so much fun.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: That's the thing is, like you have to be responsible
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: is at the same time I run a business, I
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: have three kids, Like I have to be wise and
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: be responsible, which I feel like I try very hard
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: at that. So I don't go to workstone ever. I
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: put boundaries on it. I make sure that it's in
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: a safe place in my house. We lock it up
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: in lock boxes so that my kids can't get to it.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: You know, like we are responsible cannabis parents and we're out.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: We'll be back. Next life will be the death of
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: Meusly Brandon. Okay, Brandon, do you want to add anything
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: at the end of this podcast. I know you always
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: like to have the last word, like Laurence O'Donnell, I do. Uh,
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: you know, just that the information that everyone got in
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: the podcast just kind of grazes the surface. But a
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: big part of your cannabis line is gonna be continued
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: education or enhanced education, enhanced educative and an educative component,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: because I think that's what's missing and that's what helped
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: me really launched into cannabis in terms of being a user.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: And you know, now I've gotten a little carried away,
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: so I've got a dial it back. But there's just
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: so much out there to try. But I want people
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: to know exactly what they're taking, what time of day
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: to take it, what are the circumstances, so that you
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: can have like a good experience every single time to
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: get your head on straight. There is going to be
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: an educative component because I want everybody. I want transparency
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: to be key in this brand, and I you know,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: always want everyone's feedback. And yeah, that's it. I'm coming
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: to do stand up shows. We added second shows to Vancouver,
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: to Toronto, Indianapolis, and to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where my
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: other Sissy lives. And I'm coming to New Zealand, and
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: I'm coming to Australia to Brisbane and Sydney and Melbourne,
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: and I'm coming to Auckland and that's in two weeks.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: So if you don't have tickets to that, please get them.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: You can get tickets at live nation dot com and
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: you can go to my accountable page. You can follow
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: Emily's list on Twitter on all social media platforms to
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: look for progressive candidates to back. And we only have
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: a couple of episodes of this podcast left, so I
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: am going to schedule a very big surprise. It'll be
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: a surprise, but life will be the Death of Me
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: as a production of I Heeart Radio. For more podcasts
