- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello, everyone, Welcome to the Inside the Birds pregame show.
- 0:13Speaker 1: I'm Jeff Mosher alongside Adam Kaplan and with us as
- 0:16Speaker 1: always is the man who breaks down the tape of
- 0:18Speaker 1: the Eagles and their opponent, and that is Greg Cosell
- 0:21Speaker 1: and the Eagles. Well, I'll say this, the Eagles and
- 0:24Speaker 1: the Chargers each have a very big game on Monday night,
- 0:28Speaker 1: and it happens to be that they're playing each other
- 0:31Speaker 1: in Los Angeles. These are two eight and four teams.
- 0:35Speaker 1: These are two teams dealing with injuries. These are two
- 0:38Speaker 1: teams that are gonna be most very likely in the playoffs. However,
- 0:42Speaker 1: depending on how the last five games go, these could
- 0:44Speaker 1: be two teams either going in the same direction, up
- 0:46Speaker 1: or down, or.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Left or right.
- 0:48Speaker 1: It's just a very important game between two really good teams, Adam,
- 0:51Speaker 1: when you look at this matchup, we know we've talked
- 0:54Speaker 1: all week about how significant it is for the Eagles
- 0:56Speaker 1: coming off a two game slide, but obviously the Chargers
- 0:59Speaker 1: are trying to hang with the Broncos in the AFC
- 1:01Speaker 1: West and keep their spot in the playoffs as well.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Yeah, and guys, the good thing is we don't have
- 1:07Speaker 3: to talk about weather this week. Thank goodness. Enough of that.
- 1:10Speaker 3: I mean, it's indoors Eagles. No, so far from playing
- 1:12Speaker 3: the Rams. Now they're playing the Chargers. And I know
- 1:17Speaker 3: from being at the In fact, Jeff, you were hosting
- 1:19Speaker 3: of the Fanatic when I called you from LA in
- 1:21Speaker 3: twenty seventeen when Eagles were playing with the Rams at
- 1:23Speaker 3: the La Milesoleum, I could tell you, and I know
- 1:27Speaker 3: for the Charger game as well, when La Garrett Blunt
- 1:30Speaker 3: went crazy against the Chargers defense at Home Depot Stadium,
- 1:34Speaker 3: that there'll be a huge fan base there. Huge Chargers
- 1:37Speaker 3: do not like people will Charger fans will go, but
- 1:40Speaker 3: there are a lot of displaced at Philadelphians here. So
- 1:44Speaker 3: this will this will be. This is a fascinating game because,
- 1:46Speaker 3: as you said, I'll send it back to you in
- 1:48Speaker 3: a second. Both teams need the game, There's no question
- 1:50Speaker 3: about it. Forget about Dallas and winning division. We're just
- 1:52Speaker 3: talking about getting righted. They're only eight and four s
- 1:55Speaker 3: two games are not good. Chargers been up and down lately.
- 1:59Speaker 3: You never to q know what you're getting. So yeah,
- 2:01Speaker 3: there's a lot of mystery to this game.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so I had two different people reach out to
- 2:06Speaker 1: me around the league just as a joke to say, hey,
- 2:09Speaker 1: you know, big game, but there will be a pro
- 2:10Speaker 1: Philly crowd out there in LA like you just said, Adam,
- 2:13Speaker 1: And my response was, well, that just means the booing
- 2:16Speaker 1: will come after the first three and out, you know,
- 2:18Speaker 1: like it would at home. That could be a good
- 2:20Speaker 1: thing or a bad thing, because they're not gonna be
- 2:23Speaker 1: happier just because they're in Sofi Stadium. So it'll be
- 2:28Speaker 1: very interesting to see what that crowd is.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Like.
- 2:30Speaker 1: I remember covering a Chargers Eagles game out in when
- 2:33Speaker 1: they played in Qualcomm in San Diego.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I want to say two thousand and eight nine. Jason
- 2:39Speaker 2: Leavan had a big game.
- 2:40Speaker 1: I believe the Eagles lost the game, but it was
- 2:42Speaker 1: such a pro Philly crowd. I always felt that if
- 2:45Speaker 1: the Eagles were ever winning, or had won, they would
- 2:48Speaker 1: have They had already taken over the stadium in bodies,
- 2:50Speaker 1: They could have taken over the stadium in cheers, but
- 2:53Speaker 1: it wasn't to be that day.
- 2:55Speaker 4: Greg.
- 2:56Speaker 1: The Chargers are sort of interesting to me. I mean,
- 2:59Speaker 1: you look at the eight four same record as the Eagles.
- 3:01Speaker 1: They've won for their last five games. However, they haven't
- 3:05Speaker 1: really played too many good teams. And then their last
- 3:08Speaker 1: two losses they lost they got killed by a Jaguars team,
- 3:12Speaker 1: and then you know before that was Week seven against
- 3:14Speaker 1: the Colts and they lost that by double digits as well.
- 3:17Speaker 1: So I don't know what jumps out on tape from
- 3:20Speaker 1: you overall about them, but to me, I watched a
- 3:22Speaker 1: little bit and I found them a weird team to
- 3:24Speaker 1: try to figure out.
- 3:26Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, I actually think when you watch their tape,
- 3:28Speaker 4: you come away feeling that they're pretty good team on
- 3:30Speaker 4: both sides of the ball. The eye test right now
- 3:33Speaker 4: tells you that they're better than the Eagles, But we'll
- 3:36Speaker 4: find out when they play the game. I think that
- 3:39Speaker 4: they're Look, they haven't. We'll get into this. They have
- 3:42Speaker 4: an offensive line that right now, I'm sure other than Becton,
- 3:46Speaker 4: nobody could name in Philadelphia the the other four offensive linemen,
- 3:50Speaker 4: you know, So that is obviously a concern. Look, the
- 3:53Speaker 4: run game is I don't know is Omari and Hampton
- 3:56Speaker 4: do to be back this week?
- 3:59Speaker 3: That looking good? He on Friday, he got a lot,
- 4:02Speaker 3: He got more work on Friday.
- 4:03Speaker 4: So it's taking good. And we'll get into their run
- 4:06Speaker 4: game because it's very multiple and very diverse. It's Greg Roman.
- 4:09Speaker 4: They do a lot of things. Obviously, they've got a
- 4:12Speaker 4: quarterback that if you speak to anybody in the league
- 4:14Speaker 4: would tell you he's a top five quarterback in the league,
- 4:17Speaker 4: just in terms of the way he plays and the
- 4:19Speaker 4: size and the ability, and their defense under Jesse minter
- 4:23Speaker 4: Is is not an easy defense to play against. They've
- 4:26Speaker 4: got a lot of multi dimensional players who can line
- 4:29Speaker 4: up in a lot of different spots and cause problems.
- 4:32Speaker 4: So it's an odd team, Jeff, as you said, in
- 4:35Speaker 4: the sense that you know, sometimes when they lose, they
- 4:38Speaker 4: lose big, and you wonder how did that happen? But
- 4:41Speaker 4: when you just look at their tape, you get and
- 4:43Speaker 4: it's funny. I watched their tape later in the week
- 4:45Speaker 4: this week, you know, closer to when we're doing our
- 4:48Speaker 4: our talk here, and you know, again, I came away
- 4:51Speaker 4: feeling like, this is a pretty good team, and the
- 4:54Speaker 4: tape kind of tells me that.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I just had a hard time And I don't
- 4:58Speaker 1: know how many watch games obviously watched the last one
- 5:01Speaker 1: I just had a hard time with in my head
- 5:03Speaker 1: with Yeah, but it's the Raiders, you know what I'm saying,
- 5:05Speaker 1: And you shouldn't do that. I mean, the Raiders have
- 5:08Speaker 1: NFL players, but I kept trying to say, would that
- 5:11Speaker 1: happen if it were again, there are a lot of
- 5:13Speaker 1: third and long conversions that I thought we were well
- 5:16Speaker 1: done by the.
- 5:16Speaker 4: By the way, they have the third the second best
- 5:19Speaker 4: third down conversion team in the NFL. I mean, it's
- 5:22Speaker 4: you know, they're they're they're pretty good at that, and
- 5:26Speaker 4: they're and they're very good on defense on third down
- 5:28Speaker 4: as well, So you know, it's like I said, it's
- 5:33Speaker 4: and I've watched them pretty all the obviously I watched
- 5:35Speaker 4: the game against the Raiders when I've seen them all
- 5:37Speaker 4: year long. So they're they're they can be very good
- 5:42Speaker 4: any given week because they've got good players. If they're
- 5:45Speaker 4: coached well, you can see what they do schematically. You know,
- 5:48Speaker 4: you're not guessing as to what they are. You know,
- 5:51Speaker 4: there's an identity, you know, a word that is kind
- 5:53Speaker 4: of cliched, but I mean, you see, you see on
- 5:55Speaker 4: tape what they are.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Well, Adam, really, I just want to get your take
- 6:00Speaker 1: on this because to Greg's point or to my combined
- 6:03Speaker 1: points here, a couple of weeks ago, when the Eagles
- 6:06Speaker 1: were going to play Dallas in that big game. Dallas
- 6:10Speaker 1: had a new look and had just beat the Raiders,
- 6:13Speaker 1: and the point a lot of people were.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Saying was who cares, it's the Raiders. They stink.
- 6:16Speaker 1: But then Dallas went and overcame a huge deficit and
- 6:20Speaker 1: beat the Eagles.
- 6:20Speaker 2: So that's where I was reconciling.
- 6:23Speaker 1: But it was just the Raiders that they beat versus
- 6:25Speaker 1: what Greg is saying is that they're a pretty good
- 6:27Speaker 1: team though, like.
- 6:28Speaker 2: You can't scount what they've got.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I just want to add this and then I'll
- 6:32Speaker 3: add something else that's a little different from the main
- 6:35Speaker 3: talk here. But Hampton they have till Monday, actually at
- 6:38Speaker 3: four pm Eastern. It's very odd. They have odd rules
- 6:42Speaker 3: like when you play on Sunday, you have to make
- 6:44Speaker 3: the decision on your roster the day before. On Monday
- 6:46Speaker 3: night games you can make it the day out. Same
- 6:48Speaker 3: with Thursday night games. Just the way that they do it,
- 6:50Speaker 3: all right. So the so, yeah, we're gonna get into
- 6:53Speaker 3: I know because Greg will love to talk about Hamley
- 6:55Speaker 3: the linebacker. I mean, I know he's think about the
- 7:00Speaker 3: charges because they're so under the radar. It remind me,
- 7:03Speaker 3: Jeff of like the text rangers of the team that
- 7:05Speaker 3: time has forgotten. People don't really follow them, but they're
- 7:07Speaker 3: this small cult following, right, Like for those of us
- 7:10Speaker 3: who are a little bit over fifty might remember John Jefferson,
- 7:12Speaker 3: West Chandler and Chuck Muncy and Dan Fouts, right, and
- 7:15Speaker 3: of course Kellen Winslow. But you know, if you go
- 7:20Speaker 3: to their defense and Greg talked, this scheme is phenomenal
- 7:24Speaker 3: that Jesse Minter and his dad Rick is really you
- 7:27Speaker 3: might remember his dad Rick was on Chip Kelly staff.
- 7:30Speaker 3: He's on Jesse staff as like a senior defensive asistant.
- 7:32Speaker 3: But there's a lot of disguise. Man, It's it's h
- 7:36Speaker 3: If you look at the talent, if you look at
- 7:37Speaker 3: ja heap Still and some of the other guys, and
- 7:40Speaker 3: Moulden's an interesting player, you go, how is this happening? Well,
- 7:44Speaker 3: great scheme and great execution, and Greg will get into
- 7:46Speaker 3: that obviously.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Yeah, let's talk real quick because Greg mentioned that most
- 7:52Speaker 1: people in Philadelphia couldn't name a single offensive linement.
- 7:55Speaker 2: That they've got outside of Makai Becton. And guess what
- 7:58Speaker 2: I mean. Mackai Becton is not.
- 8:01Speaker 1: Well, we'll talk to the Greg about it too, But
- 8:03Speaker 1: for me, what's your understanding of Becton status with with
- 8:06Speaker 1: the Chargers at the moment.
- 8:08Speaker 2: As far as playing in this game or.
- 8:12Speaker 5: He's been hit and out of there's he's healthy, Yeah,
- 8:15Speaker 5: he's they're tackles, I mean, they they're the only we
- 8:21Speaker 5: know the tackles are out for the season, the left
- 8:23Speaker 5: and right tackles, which has been a problem for them,
- 8:25Speaker 5: No question about that.
- 8:26Speaker 2: No, he backed in.
- 8:27Speaker 3: You're right though, he's been on and off the injury,
- 8:30Speaker 3: but he was on a lot earlier in the season.
- 8:31Speaker 3: But no, he's good to go. He's not even on
- 8:33Speaker 3: this week.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Well, they're they're they're a line from left to right
- 8:36Speaker 4: in the last game, which has been pretty much their
- 8:38Speaker 4: O line for the last number of weeks. From left
- 8:41Speaker 4: to right is Salyer, Johnson, Boseman, Beckton, and Pipkins. So
- 8:47Speaker 4: you know, Sallyer is not truly an NFL tackle. He's
- 8:51Speaker 4: really much more of a guard. But you know, they're
- 8:54Speaker 4: this is who they're playing, and you know they you
- 8:56Speaker 4: got to line up and play.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Mm hmm. I was by the way to Beckton kind
- 9:01Speaker 1: of talking. I know he said to reporters out there
- 9:04Speaker 1: that he made a comment about I'm trying to stay
- 9:07Speaker 1: healthy and finish every game if I'm allowed, because they were,
- 9:10Speaker 1: they were pulling them off the field at times. And
- 9:12Speaker 1: then he had a little bit of a issue on
- 9:14Speaker 1: the sideline of a game. So it seems like it's
- 9:17Speaker 1: kind of a rocky relationship there.
- 9:19Speaker 2: He started, Yeah, I mean, he he started. Yeah, it
- 9:21Speaker 2: did start.
- 9:21Speaker 3: But by the way they they by contract structure, it's
- 9:25Speaker 3: really a one year deal. It's a multi year deal,
- 9:27Speaker 3: but they can get out of it easily. So they've
- 9:29Speaker 3: actually guys, they've started four left tackles this season. Yeah,
- 9:33Speaker 3: Petting started. Who's not a left tackle. The Saints learned
- 9:35Speaker 3: that the hard way, deculous, so they get acquired into
- 9:38Speaker 3: a trade salary. He just talked about who's got He
- 9:41Speaker 3: did play a little left tackle early in his career
- 9:43Speaker 3: at Georgia, and obviously you know some of the Eagles
- 9:45Speaker 3: players because he was with them Georgia, right, And yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 3: I mean they've they've actually again, they've started four guys.
- 9:51Speaker 3: So and of course a Slaters after the season is
- 9:54Speaker 3: the fourth guy. And it's tough, man, when you're down
- 9:57Speaker 3: your tackles and they're right and four that's actually off. Honestly,
- 10:01Speaker 3: how many teams could survive that.
- 10:04Speaker 1: So I've been saying on you know I do this.
- 10:06Speaker 1: I don't know if Greg does. I do a kind
- 10:07Speaker 1: of a look around the NFL every weekend show where
- 10:10Speaker 1: I analyze the matchups based on what I think I know,
- 10:13Speaker 1: and I have sort of predicted that a slide was
- 10:17Speaker 1: eventually going to come for the Chargers because I just
- 10:20Speaker 1: don't see how you can operate, especially the way they
- 10:23Speaker 1: want to play, when you lose two guys like Rashaun
- 10:26Speaker 1: Slater and Joel And it hasn't happened yet, but they
- 10:30Speaker 1: certainly have a very difficult schedule. After the Eagles, they'll
- 10:33Speaker 1: play the Chiefs, then the Cowboys, then the Texans and
- 10:36Speaker 1: then the Broncos. So I mean, they could very easily
- 10:40Speaker 1: lose all five. I mean, I'm not saying that's going
- 10:42Speaker 1: to happen, but those are five tough games in a
- 10:45Speaker 1: row for a team that you know will get O'marian
- 10:48Speaker 1: Hampton back and maybe against the Eagles, but also is
- 10:50Speaker 1: going to want to do things that it probably won't
- 10:52Speaker 1: be able to do, and that might start on Monday
- 10:55Speaker 1: night against the Eagles. This is a game where in
- 10:57Speaker 1: the past, if we were analyzing the game we would
- 11:00Speaker 1: say you're down your top two starting offensive tackles and
- 11:03Speaker 1: your interior line isn't that good to begin with.
- 11:05Speaker 2: The Eagles are about to kick your ass. That's what
- 11:07Speaker 2: we would say.
- 11:09Speaker 1: It hasn't always happened that way this year, but you
- 11:11Speaker 1: have to think the Eagles have a the advantage in
- 11:14Speaker 1: the trenches on personnel and b.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Greg also you can speak to this, you have to.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I would have to think there's not going to be
- 11:21Speaker 1: an under center element of the Chargers offense because they're
- 11:25Speaker 1: gonna when Justin Herbert came back with his hand wrapped
- 11:28Speaker 1: right exclusively a shotgun team or right pistol, but no
- 11:33Speaker 1: under center.
- 11:34Speaker 4: They still ran the ball pretty well and they're going
- 11:37Speaker 4: to try to run the ball. They're very creative. Greg
- 11:40Speaker 4: Roman has always been like this. Look, twenty one percent
- 11:43Speaker 4: of their snaps this year, which is a high number,
- 11:46Speaker 4: have have come out of twenty one and twenty two personnel.
- 11:51Speaker 4: You know, he's he's basically recreated Greg Roman. That is,
- 11:54Speaker 4: I'm speaking recreated with the Chargers what he did with
- 11:58Speaker 4: the Ravens with Patrick Card. So now he has Scott Mattlocke,
- 12:02Speaker 4: who's a converted defensive tackle who was you know, played
- 12:05Speaker 4: in the Mountain West and he's basically their full back,
- 12:09Speaker 4: so he plays, you know, anywhere from eighteen to twenty
- 12:12Speaker 4: five snaps a game. They've got a tight end named
- 12:15Speaker 4: Fisk who is purely a blocker, not really a receiver
- 12:18Speaker 4: at all. I mean he played twenty six snaps this week.
- 12:22Speaker 4: You know, they have obviously other tight ends who are
- 12:25Speaker 4: receiving tight ends like Conkland and Gadsden, But this is
- 12:28Speaker 4: a team that is really multiple and diverse in their
- 12:31Speaker 4: run game concepts, and they're not easy to play against because.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Of that, Jeff, what will happen if Fisk has an injury.
- 12:38Speaker 3: He's the only one other than Herbert that has, you know,
- 12:41Speaker 3: some concern whether it's going to play. But Fisk did
- 12:44Speaker 3: not has not practice this week. And what'll what they'll
- 12:46Speaker 3: do is because he's paid way too much money to
- 12:48Speaker 3: be an active Will Disley replacements the white tight end? Yeah,
- 12:52Speaker 3: well Disley's making five million bucks and he doesn't even play.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Yeah better, And you know, they they have a lot
- 12:57Speaker 4: of tight ends, and this is the way they played
- 13:00Speaker 4: the way they want to play. This is I mean,
- 13:02Speaker 4: when you bring gring Roman in, this is what you
- 13:05Speaker 4: get is he's really good at this.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Yes.
- 13:08Speaker 1: So interesting fact about the Chargers is that if you
- 13:11Speaker 1: just looked at their season total, they've passed the ball
- 13:13Speaker 1: more this year than they have in the past. However,
- 13:17Speaker 1: if you narrow the scope to the last five weeks,
- 13:20Speaker 1: they have the third most rushing attempts in the league
- 13:22Speaker 1: and eighth most rushing yards and that's without Omarian Hampton.
- 13:27Speaker 1: So if you add Hampton, combined it with what you've
- 13:30Speaker 1: seen from Kamani Vidal, who's got a lot of juice, right,
- 13:34Speaker 1: A guy that they actually cut and then brought back.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Yeahas had a nice season.
- 13:39Speaker 1: That's a nice little thunder and lightning kind of tandem.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Adam, you have to think that.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I think sometimes fans think that, like they see what
- 13:48Speaker 1: happened in the last game and they project, like, I
- 13:50Speaker 1: don't expect the Chargers to come out and run ninety
- 13:52Speaker 1: percent outside zone because that's not what they normally. They're
- 13:55Speaker 1: gonna do what they do best. But given what they
- 13:57Speaker 1: saw on tape, I'm sure they're going to attack the
- 14:00Speaker 1: Eagles knowing a they struggled last week and be no
- 14:03Speaker 1: Jalen Carter, I mean you and see that the hand
- 14:06Speaker 1: injury for for Herbert, you have to think that they're
- 14:09Speaker 1: going to try to really rely on this ground game.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Well that and then they got because Hampton's barely played,
- 14:15Speaker 3: they got to figure out what he does best. Obviously
- 14:18Speaker 3: they go by the college tape. They're all season program preseason,
- 14:21Speaker 3: but it if Hampton returns, like he probably will if
- 14:25Speaker 3: he's in, if he's playing, he adds some juice to
- 14:27Speaker 3: this thing, man, because Vanal has been a great story.
- 14:30Speaker 3: He's five, a's built. It's really interesting. You I thought
- 14:33Speaker 3: he was maybe five eight two hundred. No, he's like
- 14:36Speaker 3: closer to two fifteen.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and he's just sure.
- 14:39Speaker 3: He's not little, No, he's not tall, but he's built,
- 14:42Speaker 3: Greg and he's got some juice. Man, this kid has been.
- 14:45Speaker 2: A good story.
- 14:46Speaker 3: He's Boston Scott but Wheels. I got Wheels though, Yeah,
- 14:50Speaker 3: way better.
- 14:52Speaker 2: I like that he's short.
- 14:53Speaker 4: But I mean the other thing too, is I mean
- 14:55Speaker 4: as long as we're talking now we're getting into the matchup. Yeah,
- 14:57Speaker 4: you know, I think it's not very good receivers, and
- 14:59Speaker 4: they're there are times they'll play with four wide receivers.
- 15:02Speaker 4: They've played forty six snaps this year in ten personnel
- 15:05Speaker 4: where they line up with four wide receivers. That's a
- 15:07Speaker 4: lot of snaps to play with four wide receivers in
- 15:10Speaker 4: the league, so they're pretty diverse in what they do
- 15:13Speaker 4: on offense. Adam made a great point though, for the
- 15:15Speaker 4: first five six games of the season, they were dropping
- 15:18Speaker 4: back Herbert way too much, way too much, And over
- 15:22Speaker 4: the last three four weeks they've cut back on that
- 15:25Speaker 4: and really tried to run the ball more, which is smart.
- 15:28Speaker 4: If you're playing with backup tackles, you want those guys
- 15:31Speaker 4: to be proactive moving forward. You don't want them to
- 15:33Speaker 4: spend forty five snaps a game being reactive to players
- 15:37Speaker 4: who are better than they are.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think, Jeff, what they're doing is they're
- 15:41Speaker 3: playing to their personnel right yep. Into the interior. You're
- 15:45Speaker 3: either pretty good, you know, Bozeman's been around a long time,
- 15:48Speaker 3: Zion Johnson of course spectin. But you're asking guys who
- 15:52Speaker 3: shouldn't be playing. Pipkins is actually he's been starting for
- 15:54Speaker 3: he's been a starter before. He's played mostly right tack,
- 15:56Speaker 3: a little bit of guard. But asking it because again,
- 15:59Speaker 3: they're going they're going through a lot of guys at
- 16:01Speaker 3: left tackle. You got to be careful and Herbert's got
- 16:05Speaker 3: the injury and Greg Romano talking to guys the front
- 16:09Speaker 3: offs people over the years, he's so unpredictable. Greg just
- 16:13Speaker 3: gave it out. You don't quite know what you're gonna get.
- 16:16Speaker 3: You know, they want to run the ball. That that's obvious.
- 16:18Speaker 3: He's given no matter where he's been. If you're coaching
- 16:20Speaker 3: for hardball, go back to the twelve Super Bowl run,
- 16:22Speaker 3: They're gonna run the football. But he also likes to
- 16:26Speaker 3: throw a curveball. He likes a lot of different formations.
- 16:28Speaker 3: And I want to I want to get back to
- 16:31Speaker 3: Greg and a second on Trey Harris and McConkie and Gadsden.
- 16:35Speaker 2: Jeff, I missed him in Fantasy.
- 16:36Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, well, my man Tyler conference there, I
- 16:38Speaker 3: guess he'll be Nope, it's Gadsden junior, so Jeff, They've
- 16:42Speaker 3: got a lot of talent here. But I definitely want
- 16:45Speaker 3: to get Greg's at Pinal, Trey Harrison this this past target.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Yeah, well he's starting to play more snaps obviously not
- 16:49Speaker 4: been featured in the past game because they have Keenan Allen,
- 16:52Speaker 4: who's got the most third down targets and third down
- 16:55Speaker 4: receptions in the league, and is really obviously a very
- 16:58Speaker 4: reliable player. Conky is a really good player. You know,
- 17:03Speaker 4: Johnston's come on a bit this year, so he's so.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Harris is kind of the fourth guy, but you know
- 17:08Speaker 4: he's long, he can run. I wouldn't call him a burner,
- 17:12Speaker 4: but he can run. So you know, so he does play,
- 17:15Speaker 4: but he's not He's not the guy by any means,
- 17:19Speaker 4: but they'll play him.
- 17:20Speaker 2: I mean he does.
- 17:21Speaker 4: He had a key catch last week in a critical situation.
- 17:25Speaker 4: You know, he's not a volume target by any means.
- 17:27Speaker 2: Jeff.
- 17:28Speaker 3: One thing I would add on on lad McConkey.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Uh.
- 17:30Speaker 3: And this is going back since two thousand and two.
- 17:33Speaker 3: There are there were better receivers at the Sunion Bowl,
- 17:35Speaker 3: the best shoot air of quickness.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Lab McConkie.
- 17:40Speaker 3: I was because I asked the receivers coach too I
- 17:43Speaker 3: need to look at today, and gave me the list.
- 17:44Speaker 3: I'd heard of mccaukey, but I didn't know a lot.
- 17:46Speaker 3: I didn't do a lot of work on the prior
- 17:48Speaker 3: to that. He goes, you're gonna like mccakey, but he did.
- 17:51Speaker 3: He wouldn't give it. He just he goes, I want
- 17:52Speaker 3: to know what you see I'm not going to give
- 17:53Speaker 3: you any cliff notes. My mouth dropped. You were there.
- 17:57Speaker 3: This was mind blowing the way that he moved a
- 18:00Speaker 3: short area number his numbers great.
- 18:03Speaker 4: I love mcconki coming out. I see what he is
- 18:06Speaker 4: for what he is now it is, you know what.
- 18:08Speaker 4: I didn't think he had a weakness for what he is,
- 18:10Speaker 4: and I remember getting ripped on social media because I
- 18:13Speaker 4: said that. People said, well, he can't go up and
- 18:14Speaker 4: make him tested catches. Well, no kidding, but that's not
- 18:17Speaker 4: what he is. No one's gonna ask him to do that,
- 18:20Speaker 4: you know, I mean Johnston, Yeah, you know. So that's
- 18:24Speaker 4: like saying, well, you know Jared Goff, you know he's
- 18:27Speaker 4: I don't like him because he's not a playmaker. Well, yeah,
- 18:30Speaker 4: no kidding, can't do that.
- 18:31Speaker 3: They're not going to ask him to.
- 18:32Speaker 2: Do Yeah, you know.
- 18:33Speaker 4: So mcconki for what he is is really really good.
- 18:37Speaker 3: Uh.
- 18:37Speaker 1: To your point, Greg, When Adam and I went to
- 18:38Speaker 1: the Senior Bowl that year, I remember going in thinking
- 18:41Speaker 1: to myself that he was probably at the skill set
- 18:45Speaker 1: of a really good slot receiver in the NFL, and
- 18:47Speaker 1: then leaving thinking he probably could line up and Z
- 18:51Speaker 1: and still get it. He's not an ex just like
- 18:53Speaker 1: you're saying. He's a big, tall, physical guy. But I
- 18:56Speaker 1: thought he could create mismatches from from the Z spot
- 18:59Speaker 1: and it's looked like Greg move, Greg Roman will move,
- 19:03Speaker 1: send guys in motion, change who's won, who's two.
- 19:07Speaker 2: And so?
- 19:07Speaker 1: Yeah, and he's good, by the way, Greg Roman, Atlantic
- 19:09Speaker 1: city guy.
- 19:10Speaker 3: Right, Yeah, he's a Jersey guy. Yeah, Coach Roman, he is.
- 19:14Speaker 3: He's he's been for the man. He's been for a
- 19:16Speaker 3: lot in his career.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Stand San Francisco, he was on. He was the offensive coordinator.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Oh yeah, he was the one.
- 19:23Speaker 3: Oh yeah, he was the one.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:25Speaker 3: Yeah, it was VI. It was it was about it
- 19:28Speaker 3: was vic DC and Roman was the O.
- 19:31Speaker 2: That's right about that.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Funny they did they use a fullback that year? I
- 19:35Speaker 1: think they did, but I can't remember who it was.
- 19:37Speaker 2: We're talking about what the year they went to the
- 19:39Speaker 2: Super Bowl.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Yeah, when they played the Ravens and the Super Bowl
- 19:42Speaker 1: went out. But that was the year that of very
- 19:44Speaker 1: you know, Frank wre was great, right, Kaepernick I think
- 19:46Speaker 1: was the Yeah, they were doing all sorts of movement
- 19:50Speaker 1: quarterback stuff.
- 19:50Speaker 2: They killed the Packers that well.
- 19:52Speaker 4: That's when it was all new with his own read
- 19:54Speaker 4: and people weren't sure how to defend it because that
- 19:56Speaker 4: was the year. I think in the playoffs Kaepernick against
- 19:58Speaker 4: the Packers did like one hundred and seventy five yards
- 20:01Speaker 4: or something like that.
- 20:03Speaker 2: Ran for two hundred and passed for two hundred. Yes, crazy, Bryce,
- 20:08Speaker 2: do you remember the name Bryce Miller? Was a Bryce Miller?
- 20:11Speaker 2: That sounds familiar? Twenty nine.
- 20:14Speaker 4: Oh you're talking about the full back. Yeah, because you
- 20:17Speaker 4: asked like it could be you could be right. That
- 20:20Speaker 4: name's first name, I'm guessing was Bryce.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Was Bruce Miller.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Bruce Miller, Okay, it was with a big It was
- 20:26Speaker 3: Bruce Miller.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Frank Morer. Was very good for him.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Yeah, Vick had a great Vic had Alden Smith and
- 20:32Speaker 1: Bruce Smith and they were just killing everybody.
- 20:34Speaker 2: It was Yeah, I'm looking at the roster right now. Smith,
- 20:37Speaker 2: I'm sorry, Justin Smith. Miller number forty nine was the fullback.
- 20:41Speaker 1: You are correct, Yeah, yeah, hard hitting Dante Whittner back
- 20:45Speaker 1: there and then he remember that Hittner. He had Navarro Bowman,
- 20:49Speaker 1: he had Patrick willis Man. He had a defense.
- 20:52Speaker 4: Anyway, Smith, who a lot of people thought would have
- 20:55Speaker 4: been unbelievably great if he didn't have, you know, personal
- 20:58Speaker 4: issues Hall of Famers.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Yeah, it's excellent.
- 21:01Speaker 1: They have one more guy in that D line that
- 21:03Speaker 1: I can't think of on the.
- 21:04Speaker 4: D line McDonald, Isaac Sopoaga, Justin Smith.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it was Justin Smith and Alden Smith were the
- 21:12Speaker 1: main guy. I thought there was a third guy in there.
- 21:13Speaker 1: So Puago is a run stuffer who would come to
- 21:15Speaker 1: better I'm Brooks, I'm Od Brooks. Yeah, Mod Brooks.
- 21:19Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 21:19Speaker 2: They actually changed positions with them. Yeah. Yeah, that was
- 21:23Speaker 2: a fun watch. Hey.
- 21:26Speaker 1: One thing that always scares me is the latest financial scam.

- 23:49Speaker 2: All right, so Adam, let's talk about the injury situation.
- 23:51Speaker 1: We already talked about it. No resawan, slater, no jolt.
- 23:54Speaker 1: That's been the case for a while. They've got backups.
- 23:57Speaker 1: They've been juggling some offensive tackles. Looks like they settled
- 24:00Speaker 1: on this guy left tackle who's name I have trouble
- 24:04Speaker 1: Jamari Salar, Salar, I want to say, but you know,
- 24:09Speaker 1: you know, mixed up Sally.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Wow, it's spelled y e R, But I just so
- 24:13Speaker 3: I know it.
- 24:14Speaker 2: It's Salary. He's the Georgia kid. Yeah.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Yeah, he actually played left tackle in his career. But
- 24:18Speaker 3: Greg's right. If you saw the way he's built, he's
- 24:20Speaker 3: not a left tackle, he's like a guard right. But
- 24:23Speaker 3: you know what, if it's not working, Coaches when they
- 24:26Speaker 3: don't like what they see, they keep changing right and
- 24:29Speaker 3: Greg you both talked about it's really hard and Greg
- 24:33Speaker 3: Roman's doing a great job of making this thing work.
- 24:36Speaker 3: And it's it's fascinating because we'll get to the eagle
- 24:38Speaker 3: stuff of Jalen Carter and how that's gonna work out there.
- 24:42Speaker 3: There there's a lot of intrigue on how guys who
- 24:43Speaker 3: are gonna be feeling and are gonna be used, or
- 24:45Speaker 3: what's Hampton gonna look like, how they was gonna handle
- 24:48Speaker 3: their situations. T tackle, which we'll get into, and left
- 24:50Speaker 3: tack for the Chargers. We know what right tackle is,
- 24:52Speaker 3: pick Pipkins. That's not changing left tackles is interesting?
- 24:58Speaker 2: Would you use that word, Greg? Interesting?
- 25:01Speaker 4: Well, look, they know what they have and he's obviously not.
- 25:03Speaker 4: You know, he's not a left tackle and you know,
- 25:07Speaker 4: so you know you have to work around it. I mean,
- 25:09Speaker 4: that's who they have to play. This is what they're
- 25:11Speaker 4: down to, you know. I mean, it is what it is.
- 25:14Speaker 4: You know, So they work around it and they'll go
- 25:16Speaker 4: from there.
- 25:17Speaker 2: You know.
- 25:17Speaker 4: That's why they're not going to drop back by choice
- 25:19Speaker 4: forty five times unless it's an odd game, and then
- 25:22Speaker 4: you know they're forced to do that, but that will
- 25:24Speaker 4: not be their approach.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Adam, and you know what other injuries do? We have
- 25:29Speaker 1: to be aware of the Chargers if.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Any nothing, that's it. Tucker Fisk, who's their why tt
- 25:34Speaker 3: end means in line tight end, Will Disley, who all
- 25:37Speaker 3: of a sudden doesn't really because they have some of
- 25:39Speaker 3: They've got three athletic guys and one guy who really
- 25:41Speaker 3: blocks well actually they I athleticism sometimes is up to interpretation,
- 25:48Speaker 3: but Fisk is just a why tight end. As Greg's
- 25:50Speaker 3: talking about it, sos Will Disley who who It's funny
- 25:53Speaker 3: when the Seahawks I think they drafted him. I know
- 25:56Speaker 3: he was with Sea I don't know if he was
- 25:57Speaker 3: in a draft for if he was drafted, but anyway,
- 25:59Speaker 3: I remember when they got the I thought there was
- 26:00Speaker 3: no way he'll do anything with block. He scored a
- 26:02Speaker 3: bunch of touchdowns on his career, then he got hurt.
- 26:05Speaker 3: But he can block, and that's why he's there. But
- 26:07Speaker 3: he got usurped by Tucker Fisk and that's where it's at.
- 26:10Speaker 1: All right, So let's switch sides here. The Philadelphia Eagles,
- 26:14Speaker 1: they're not in great shape. You know, they've been without
- 26:16Speaker 1: Lane Johnson that hasn't been great, and of course they're
- 26:19Speaker 1: going to be without Jalen Carter.
- 26:21Speaker 2: He went through these procedures on his shoulders. Leave it
- 26:24Speaker 2: the PRP.
- 26:25Speaker 1: I forget what is a plasma replacement. I forget what
- 26:28Speaker 1: the acronym stands for.
- 26:30Speaker 2: But it could be a couple of weeks.
- 26:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I had this story on when to
- 26:35Speaker 3: Marco Murray had it in twenty ten years ago, twenty fifteen,
- 26:39Speaker 3: and I was told then, I said, you know, what's
- 26:41Speaker 3: the ballpark? And they said, it's it's when he feels right,
- 26:45Speaker 3: when it when when it's when the whatever he's got
- 26:47Speaker 3: going on. But Jeff, you know, on our reporting, since
- 26:50Speaker 3: we're doing the Eagles now, if Jalen Carter, we told
- 26:51Speaker 3: people when he was drafted there was. It wasn't a
- 26:54Speaker 3: concern where he'd he could play eight or ten years.
- 26:56Speaker 3: There was concerned it's going to be chronic and it's
- 26:59Speaker 3: been chronics. Two was draft. He's had shoulder issues. Now,
- 27:02Speaker 3: no one was an issue. He had a procedure on both. Yes,
- 27:07Speaker 3: and that's not good because you hope this, whether it's
- 27:11Speaker 3: quarter zone, peer, whatever happened, you're hopeing it settles down
- 27:15Speaker 3: and he could be himself whenever he's ready.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Now I can't.
- 27:18Speaker 4: Imagine you guys, Maybe you guys have more information, but
- 27:21Speaker 4: I can't imagine he's just gonna miss one week with this.
- 27:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 27:25Speaker 3: But but here's the thing. They're not putting him on
- 27:27Speaker 3: IR for now. They could change their mind. If they
- 27:29Speaker 3: put him IR, they maye he has to miss four games,
- 27:32Speaker 3: not four weeks. It's actual games, right, they've had their
- 27:35Speaker 3: they've had their buy ready, so it doesn't really matter.
- 27:37Speaker 3: But so yeah, if they put it, if they put
- 27:39Speaker 3: him on IR prior to Monday before the game, then
- 27:42Speaker 3: they clearly think he won't be back with him four weeks.
- 27:44Speaker 3: But you got to see if it was the shots.
- 27:48Speaker 3: If you've talked to anyone who's had a quarter zone.
- 27:50Speaker 3: It's gotta it's gotta where anyone's ever had any kind
- 27:52Speaker 3: of shot. It's got to settle down. He's got to
- 27:54Speaker 3: be able to do his job. He's got to get
- 27:55Speaker 3: clear for contact. He's gonna have to rip and shed
- 27:57Speaker 3: and all that stuff. And let's get Jeff and Greg.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Let's get into it because it's.
- 28:02Speaker 4: Let me ask you this, so I assume Byron Young,
- 28:04Speaker 4: then we'll get yes, Yes, there's someone else who's gonna
- 28:08Speaker 4: get snaps, will be active, and our guy.
- 28:11Speaker 3: Gabe Hall is on the practice squad. If but Vic
- 28:14Speaker 3: doesn't like to play a lot of d tackles, Jeff,
- 28:15Speaker 3: as you know, doesn't like to go with it, doesn't
- 28:18Speaker 3: like to go with a lot of dapt feed, doesn't
- 28:20Speaker 3: play a lot of guys.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Well, you know, this is something we have talked about
- 28:24Speaker 1: and Greg and I were able to talk about it
- 28:25Speaker 1: also on inside the tape throughout the week. Is that,
- 28:28Speaker 1: you know, VIC may have to come out of the
- 28:29Speaker 1: comfort zone a little bit because guys like Moro Ajomo
- 28:33Speaker 1: and Jordan Davis, even if Jillen Carter was healthy for
- 28:36Speaker 1: this game, those guys have played almost twice as many
- 28:39Speaker 1: snaps already this year. Percentage wise as they were playing
- 28:42Speaker 1: last year. And we won't know, but I mean, you
- 28:45Speaker 1: could certainly draw a line between how they've been playing
- 28:49Speaker 1: the last two weeks, getting moved off the ball and such,
- 28:52Speaker 1: and the extra workload. And I know Greg pointed out
- 28:55Speaker 1: that there were times Jordan Davis was playing high again.
- 28:58Speaker 2: And listen, he's had a good year. He's had a
- 29:00Speaker 2: very good year.
- 29:01Speaker 1: But if you're asking somebody to take on an extra workload,
- 29:04Speaker 1: and now it's got to be even more extra, right
- 29:07Speaker 1: without Jaln Carter, then you know, I mean, it's just
- 29:11Speaker 1: logic in my head, I can't be vic Fangio.
- 29:13Speaker 4: Davis has played Adam Davis has played four hundred ninety
- 29:16Speaker 4: nine snaps, which is sixty two percent of their snaps.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Yes, now after playing last year.
- 29:21Speaker 4: Yeah, you drafted him to do that, obviously because you
- 29:23Speaker 4: traded up to get him. But that's a lot of snaps,
- 29:27Speaker 4: and you know, as the season progresses, we'll see. I mean,
- 29:30Speaker 4: he's played very well for the most part. We all
- 29:32Speaker 4: agree that tape tells you that we're not making you know,
- 29:34Speaker 4: it's no interpretation. He's played well. But now with Carter out,
- 29:39Speaker 4: what do you do? Does he play eighty five percent
- 29:41Speaker 4: of the snaps or are you having a rotation that
- 29:44Speaker 4: includes players who haven't played hardly at all?
- 29:47Speaker 3: Right, and Tyl Robinson's real role and he's he needs
- 29:50Speaker 3: more time. He's really a full off season. He's barely
- 29:52Speaker 3: played some good snaps. Then Byron Young's been a nice,
- 29:56Speaker 3: you know, decent player. Yeah, and then Gabe Hall. There's
- 29:59Speaker 3: a reason why they cut he passed the practice passed
- 30:01Speaker 3: the Raivers on claim he went back to the practice squad.
- 30:03Speaker 3: He's got great length, but they're not you, Jeff. You've
- 30:07Speaker 3: talked about it with the power despite the lift this.
- 30:10Speaker 4: Point, he's not a physical player at this point. That's
- 30:12Speaker 4: the problem.
- 30:12Speaker 3: Yeah, right, exactly it.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Right, So I was the point I was making was
- 30:16Speaker 1: that even if Jayal and Carter were healthy, I think
- 30:19Speaker 1: it would behoove the Eagles and Vic not that he
- 30:21Speaker 1: listens to me to start rotating a little bit more
- 30:25Speaker 1: as the season is going to take some to get
- 30:28Speaker 1: his guys fresh again.
- 30:29Speaker 2: But that's really not his history. It's almost like now
- 30:32Speaker 2: he has to be forced into it by the injury.
- 30:35Speaker 4: And there's also a momentum in a season. It'd be
- 30:39Speaker 4: one thing if this team was playing great football and
- 30:42Speaker 4: you're feeling pretty good, then maybe you feel, hey, I
- 30:44Speaker 4: can play Jordan Davis ten or twelve less snaps and
- 30:47Speaker 4: you know, well, but now with the way the season
- 30:51Speaker 4: is progressing, because they're a team, we can't just say, oh,
- 30:54Speaker 4: the offense isn't good.
- 30:55Speaker 2: They're a team. The way the.
- 30:56Speaker 4: Team is moving right now, things are not going particularly well. Well,
- 31:00Speaker 4: everything becomes magnified, every play becomes magnified. You've got to
- 31:05Speaker 4: try to get back on track. So you think to yourself,
- 31:07Speaker 4: I want to put my best guys out there, so
- 31:10Speaker 4: that's what.
- 31:10Speaker 2: You do, you know.
- 31:11Speaker 4: So it'll be interesting to see what they do because
- 31:15Speaker 4: there's no question that the Chargers will look to run
- 31:17Speaker 4: the ball. Whether they have success will dictate how much
- 31:20Speaker 4: volume they can run, but they do want to try
- 31:23Speaker 4: to run the ball.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Greg, how would you describe And I know it's been
- 31:26Speaker 1: several weeks. Right before he got hurt. The game before
- 31:29Speaker 1: he got hurt, Hampton had his first one hundred yard game,
- 31:32Speaker 1: hunting four yard. So after a little bit of a
- 31:34Speaker 1: slow start, they were mixing him in. You know, they
- 31:36Speaker 1: Hadna g Harris, who's now out for the year with
- 31:39Speaker 1: the Achilles, who's been out for the year. How would
- 31:41Speaker 1: you describe his running style as you were watching him
- 31:43Speaker 1: and then compare it to Kamani Videl.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Well, I think they're different.
- 31:47Speaker 4: I mean, you know, Hampton to me, I'm going to
- 31:50Speaker 4: pull up because I really liked him coming out. In fact,
- 31:54Speaker 4: I may have been in the minority, but I didn't
- 31:55Speaker 4: think there was a big difference whatsoever between Hampton and Genty,
- 31:59Speaker 4: and again on a bad team.
- 32:00Speaker 2: So I'm not going to sit here and say, oh,
- 32:02Speaker 2: look at Genty.
- 32:02Speaker 4: You never know when a guy's on a bad team
- 32:04Speaker 4: with a bad old lion, you know, ultimately.
- 32:07Speaker 2: You know how that's going to play out.
- 32:08Speaker 4: But I really liked on Marion Hampton and had he
- 32:12Speaker 4: was fortunate enough to actually be down at North Carolina
- 32:15Speaker 4: at their training camp the year that he his last
- 32:18Speaker 4: year in college, so I saw him in person. I
- 32:21Speaker 4: was down there for three days. You know, I was
- 32:23Speaker 4: you know, pretty much was able to talk to anybody
- 32:25Speaker 4: I wanted to. It was great experience. But Hampton, to me,
- 32:29Speaker 4: you know, I've thought that you know, he's he's a
- 32:34Speaker 4: physical physical traits and running mentality made me think that
- 32:37Speaker 4: this guy is a feature back in the league. He's
- 32:39Speaker 4: got size, he's got burst, he's got speed, not not
- 32:43Speaker 4: terrifying speed like at Gibbs, but speed. He's physical, he's powerful.
- 32:48Speaker 4: He had a physical presence as a runner.
- 32:51Speaker 2: You know.
- 32:51Speaker 4: He kind of reminded me in many ways of another
- 32:54Speaker 4: North Carolina back who's having a great year this year,
- 32:56Speaker 4: and that's Devonte Williams, you know there, and and Hampton
- 33:00Speaker 4: was two twenty one at the combine. So he's not
- 33:02Speaker 4: a little guy. So I really liked him. I thought
- 33:05Speaker 4: that early in the season he was trying to he
- 33:07Speaker 4: was learning the NFL, you know, trying to figure out
- 33:10Speaker 4: how to run, because it's different when you're when you're
- 33:12Speaker 4: in a spread offense in college, and then you get
- 33:14Speaker 4: to the NFL and a Greg Roman offense, which is
- 33:17Speaker 4: not a spread offense, so there's more bodies. You've got
- 33:20Speaker 4: to figure out how to run, you know, it's it's different.
- 33:24Speaker 4: So I thought he was figuring that out and again
- 33:27Speaker 4: coming missing so many games. Now I couldn't tell you
- 33:29Speaker 4: if he plays Monday night what it looked like. But
- 33:31Speaker 4: I think he has everything it takes to be a
- 33:33Speaker 4: foundation back in the league.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Jeff, he had a broken left ankle. He's been outing.
- 33:37Speaker 3: He got hurt in week five, so he went on
- 33:38Speaker 3: I are week six. So yeah, he just adds. I mean,
- 33:43Speaker 3: for a team that wants to run the football, you
- 33:44Speaker 3: can get him in a doll.
- 33:46Speaker 2: It's funny.
- 33:46Speaker 3: Last week, my man Jared Patterson, he might remember him
- 33:49Speaker 3: from the Commanders. Yeah, little guys Boston scotted Patterson's belt
- 33:55Speaker 3: like Boston scott a little fire hundred, you know.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean they got three guys that they can
- 34:00Speaker 1: and this is amazing because they have lost two running backs.
- 34:02Speaker 1: They lost they lost Najie Harris, who I don't think
- 34:05Speaker 1: any any of us really think is all that great,
- 34:08Speaker 1: but still he was a guy that there was gonna
- 34:09Speaker 1: be play a role. And then Hassan Haskins, who was
- 34:12Speaker 1: with Jim Harbaugh at Michigan. If I'm not mistaken, he
- 34:15Speaker 1: was actor to the plan.
- 34:17Speaker 2: So they're really you know.
- 34:18Speaker 1: Like I said, Kimani Fidell was a guy they cut
- 34:20Speaker 1: and then back and he's had success.
- 34:22Speaker 3: Haskins just so you know, he started practicing this week.
- 34:25Speaker 3: He was designated for return.
- 34:27Speaker 2: He was out.
- 34:28Speaker 3: Uh he's actually been out a while too. He's been
- 34:29Speaker 3: out since Week eight, so he could play. So so
- 34:33Speaker 3: they went from not having any depth to they could
- 34:35Speaker 3: have plenty of guys and it could be really interesting
- 34:37Speaker 3: Monday night.
- 34:39Speaker 4: Yeah, we know what they're gonna do on offense. The
- 34:42Speaker 4: question is can they do it with success?
- 34:44Speaker 2: Right? You know? Can they And when they do have
- 34:46Speaker 2: to throw.
- 34:46Speaker 4: Can they protect? I mean that's the bottom line.
- 34:49Speaker 1: I don't know if you have percentages on there, Greg,
- 34:50Speaker 1: but when I watch it looks like they are not
- 34:53Speaker 1: a predominant inside zone predominant outside zone.
- 34:56Speaker 2: They seem to mix it fairly well. I thought they
- 34:58Speaker 2: ran well there.
- 35:00Speaker 4: Umber one run is outside zone percentage wise. Inside zone
- 35:03Speaker 4: is a close second. Power is, which is a gap
- 35:06Speaker 4: scheme run. They actually lead the league in percentage of
- 35:09Speaker 4: running power, but it's not a super high percentage. So
- 35:12Speaker 4: the point is is they're very multiple. They ran trapped
- 35:15Speaker 4: this week, they ran pin poll this week. They do
- 35:17Speaker 4: this under you know, they're not to me again obviously
- 35:21Speaker 4: the Eagles defensive staff, they have a lot of people
- 35:23Speaker 4: doing work on one person. But they strike me as
- 35:26Speaker 4: a team that is very multiple with their run game concepts.
- 35:29Speaker 4: They're not a team to me that is you know,
- 35:32Speaker 4: just oh this is what we do and this is
- 35:33Speaker 4: the run we do. They're they're going to be very
- 35:36Speaker 4: multiple with their concepts.
- 35:37Speaker 3: So Jeff a GM gave me this back or his
- 35:40Speaker 3: Super Bowl run with the Niners. Romans most sophisticated run
- 35:43Speaker 3: game he'd ever seen. He said, sophisticated was the word
- 35:47Speaker 3: and places what Greg's talking about they do. It's just diverse.
- 35:52Speaker 3: They do a lot of different a lot of things,
- 35:54Speaker 3: and it's somewhat unorthodox would be maybe a word. I mean,
- 35:58Speaker 3: and I love that, Scott Matt Locke. It's just funny.
- 36:01Speaker 3: Patrick Recard, I mean, you see, it's just this is
- 36:04Speaker 3: the way the guy thinks. He's a different thinker, Greg Roman.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Yeah, wouldn't surprise me if.
- 36:10Speaker 1: If they try to split the difference a little bit
- 36:12Speaker 1: from an offensive philosophy and try to play more pistol,
- 36:14Speaker 1: because that would at least it helps eliminate.
- 36:17Speaker 2: The tell of the running back direction.
- 36:19Speaker 1: Yeah, shotgun so and I believe they've played some pistols,
- 36:22Speaker 1: so it wouldn't surprise me if maybe they leaned a
- 36:24Speaker 1: little bit more on that.
- 36:26Speaker 2: Yeah, just to pretty.
- 36:28Speaker 4: Much everybody believes your run game, the pistol gives you
- 36:31Speaker 4: a lot more diversity in your run game than than
- 36:33Speaker 4: shotgun does.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Right, Where does McConkie usually line up. Is he more
- 36:37Speaker 1: slot or Z or both or field side. There's obviously
- 36:40Speaker 1: not a boundary receiver, right.
- 36:41Speaker 4: No, No, No, he's he's They move him around a lot.
- 36:43Speaker 4: I mean, he's you know, their offenses like that, it's
- 36:47Speaker 4: not necessarily specific. One guy lines up here. I would
- 36:50Speaker 4: say the boundary X would be predominantly Johnston because he's
- 36:54Speaker 4: you know, he's that guy in terms of his size.
- 36:57Speaker 4: You know, Alan lines up everywhere. He's another side guy,
- 37:00Speaker 4: another movement guy. But yeah, they they do pretty much everything.
- 37:05Speaker 4: I mean, it's there's not one thing they do. They're
- 37:07Speaker 4: they're they're pretty multiple.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Jeff. One thing on Keenan Allen. I remember Keenan Allen.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Uh he talked about when Kellen Moore coached him a
- 37:16Speaker 3: couple of years ago. He said he'd never been moved
- 37:19Speaker 3: around so much. That's before Keenan got hurt. But Greg
- 37:22Speaker 3: was talking about it.
- 37:23Speaker 2: They don't.
- 37:23Speaker 3: It's not like, Okay, he's just a slot receiver. It's
- 37:26Speaker 3: it's different, and that's Roman sees it differently.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Man.
- 37:28Speaker 3: He's he's a very interesting play caller, and they've got
- 37:32Speaker 3: a really good pass target group. It's been much better
- 37:34Speaker 3: now that it had been in years in Gadsden. My goodness, gracious,
- 37:37Speaker 3: can he move for it? You can call the tight end.
- 37:39Speaker 3: He's a really big receiver.
- 37:40Speaker 4: But anyway, now, just so you know, mc conki is
- 37:42Speaker 4: predominantly inside, but there's a lot of movement to that. Like,
- 37:45Speaker 4: for instance, in terms of routes, uh run routes, he's
- 37:49Speaker 4: got the third highest run routes from from the slot.
- 37:52Speaker 4: But he doesn't just line up in one place. He'll
- 37:56Speaker 4: he will line up obviously in the slot, but he'll
- 37:58Speaker 4: also move and end up there. So he but he
- 38:01Speaker 4: is I would say, predominantly a slot receiver.
- 38:05Speaker 1: So courtesy of my colleague gets Philly Voyce Jimmy Kemsky,
- 38:08Speaker 1: the Chargers are the only team in the NFL that
- 38:10Speaker 1: has four receivers with five hundred or more receiving yards.
- 38:14Speaker 1: So that shows you about the a the lack of
- 38:16Speaker 1: a or need for them of a number one elite
- 38:19Speaker 1: like this is my number one guy, the diversity and
- 38:23Speaker 1: depth of their wide receiver group. And I think where
- 38:25Speaker 1: that helps against the Eagles is I can't imagine this
- 38:29Speaker 1: is a game where Vic Fangio is gonna say, all right, Quinyon,
- 38:32Speaker 1: you're gonna follow this guy because they're.
- 38:34Speaker 2: Right the movement.
- 38:34Speaker 1: He's probably gonna keep them on the boundary against Quintin Johnson.
- 38:37Speaker 1: And what Greg Roman might do is just have Quinton
- 38:40Speaker 1: Johnson run a bunch of deep routes to get Quinja
- 38:42Speaker 1: Mitchell out of there and then try to work the
- 38:45Speaker 1: other side of the field against the Dori Jackson, against
- 38:47Speaker 1: Cooper de gen Conki and with with Keenan Allen and
- 38:53Speaker 1: Trey Harris.
- 38:54Speaker 4: Well, the interesting thing is if they when they play man,
- 38:57Speaker 4: and this team's played a lot more man than we
- 38:59Speaker 4: anticipate at the beginning of the season. The Eagles I'm
- 39:02Speaker 4: talking about is who matches up to Gaston, who is
- 39:05Speaker 4: one of the guys with over five hundred receiving yards
- 39:07Speaker 4: very surprisingly, you know so because he's kind of a
- 39:12Speaker 4: big wide receiver.
- 39:13Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, And in.
- 39:15Speaker 1: That case they're almost like going five wide when they
- 39:17Speaker 1: have him out there, or yeah, four wide. With three
- 39:19Speaker 1: receivers in one tight end.
- 39:21Speaker 3: They can spread the out chef. And this is where
- 39:25Speaker 3: you know you worry about the Eagle's death a corner.
- 39:27Speaker 6: It's just this is and they take me quite frankly,
- 39:32Speaker 6: I was gonna say that, Oh yeah, how could I
- 39:34Speaker 6: think it as good as the player he is is
- 39:36Speaker 6: not a man to man match up for tight ends.
- 39:38Speaker 2: And if it is.
- 39:39Speaker 4: Marcus Epps, who could very well be the starter, he's
- 39:42Speaker 4: not really that guy either. So you know, could this
- 39:45Speaker 4: impact Vick's decision to play more zone in this game?
- 39:48Speaker 4: You know, these are these are the chess match things
- 39:50Speaker 4: we don't know the answer to.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:52Speaker 1: No, it's gonna be the cat and mouse thing of
- 39:55Speaker 1: you know, the sort of limitations that the Chargers may
- 39:59Speaker 1: have because of his broken hand and their inability to
- 40:02Speaker 1: have an under center game, combined with the limitations that
- 40:05Speaker 1: Eagles might have for their injuries with Carter Right having
- 40:09Speaker 1: to play, I think it's a really it's going to
- 40:12Speaker 1: be a really interesting strategical matchup. On the other side, Craig,
- 40:17Speaker 1: is this the could this be a week? Is there
- 40:19Speaker 1: any evidence to think that this would be a week
- 40:21Speaker 1: that Saint Quon Barkley gets going and the Eagles find
- 40:24Speaker 1: their run game.
- 40:26Speaker 4: I mean, you know, that's become an impossible question to answer,
- 40:29Speaker 4: and I'm being honest.
- 40:31Speaker 2: Look, here's the deal with the Eagles.
- 40:33Speaker 4: And I actually said this on the Matchup show when
- 40:35Speaker 4: we shot at the shot this week. People keep saying
- 40:37Speaker 4: they don't have an identity. They do have an identity.
- 40:40Speaker 4: They were a running football team. They're just not very
- 40:42Speaker 4: good at it. And the reason and the reason that
- 40:45Speaker 4: the offense stops there is because they're not a drop
- 40:48Speaker 4: back passing team. So they don't have anything to compensate
- 40:51Speaker 4: for the fact that their foundation has been poor this year.
- 40:54Speaker 4: But that is their identity. They were a running football team.
- 40:57Speaker 4: They're just not very good at it this year. Last
- 40:59Speaker 4: year they were really good at it. Yep, you know,
- 41:01Speaker 4: and they just don't have And you know, it's funny.
- 41:03Speaker 4: I've talked over the years to many coaches talking about
- 41:07Speaker 4: Jalen Hurts, and he certainly has his strains, but he's
- 41:10Speaker 4: not a pure drop back passer. They don't have a
- 41:13Speaker 4: true drop back passing game to compensate for the fact
- 41:16Speaker 4: that they don't have a good run game this year.
- 41:19Speaker 4: But that is their identity. They're running football team.
- 41:22Speaker 1: Adam, I've I think you and I have, all of us.
- 41:25Speaker 1: We've sort of give the benefit of the doubt. We
- 41:27Speaker 1: know that the coaches are smart people who know what
- 41:30Speaker 1: they're doing. It just sometimes doesn't work. I will have
- 41:33Speaker 1: to say, though, if the Eagles come out against the
- 41:36Speaker 1: Chargers with something that is just the exact same game
- 41:40Speaker 1: plan and don't try some kind of something different. Whether
- 41:43Speaker 1: it's you and I have talked about, maybe you give
- 41:45Speaker 1: a series to Tank Bigsby because he's a pretty good
- 41:48Speaker 1: running back.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Any he's looked good. I know it's very limited, no
- 41:51Speaker 3: suggestion he should be starting. Just just get him in early.
- 41:54Speaker 2: It's a change up, right, something different.
- 41:56Speaker 1: Or maybe you come out, maybe you come out spread
- 41:59Speaker 1: and you try to get a quick completion.
- 42:02Speaker 2: And speed it up.
- 42:03Speaker 1: If they come out like the same offense for the
- 42:06Speaker 1: last six, seven, eight, ten, twelve A, I would be surprised. B.
- 42:10Speaker 1: I think it was such a lose faith that they
- 42:12Speaker 1: actually think they have an answer.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Greg.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Here's the thing though, I mean, guys, Jeff and Greg,
- 42:17Speaker 3: here's the thing though. We know they want to run
- 42:18Speaker 3: the football right, and they're not using Hurts as a runner.
- 42:21Speaker 3: It's like the gun run. That's it.
- 42:23Speaker 2: It's a gun run.
- 42:24Speaker 3: Okay, four might go ten person on the run. Okay, great,
- 42:28Speaker 3: he seems to run up do it, but he's not
- 42:29Speaker 3: a meaningful part of it like he had been. Not
- 42:32Speaker 3: the foundation, but a meaningful part of it. In twenty
- 42:34Speaker 3: two Super Bowl, run three four, not this year. I
- 42:37Speaker 3: don't have an answer what no one knows why. I
- 42:39Speaker 3: know Siriani is asked about that. But maybe our big
- 42:43Speaker 3: bring back RPOs a little bit just ching, Yes, something different,
- 42:48Speaker 3: but something that could auction me with the football.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Whatever it is. They're endoors, Jeff.
- 42:53Speaker 4: People listening probably know a good amount about the Eagles.
- 42:55Speaker 4: D let's talk a little Chargers, oh, Jeff, if we could,
- 42:57Speaker 4: let's do that, because they're really interesting defense. First of all,
- 43:02Speaker 4: they have a number of players who line up in
- 43:06Speaker 4: multiple spots, and they're really good players. Like for instance,
- 43:10Speaker 4: their base defense for the most part is big nickel,
- 43:13Speaker 4: and that's because of Derwin James, which, by the way,
- 43:16Speaker 4: there's a big trend in the league for big nickel.
- 43:18Speaker 4: A lot of teams are playing big nickel as pretty
- 43:20Speaker 4: much a base defense. So James is almost always a
- 43:24Speaker 4: second level defender, but he can do anything. So now
- 43:27Speaker 4: what the linebackers in big nickel are predominantly Henley and Paraman.
- 43:32Speaker 4: Now Henley is another guy that lines up both off
- 43:35Speaker 4: the ball and on the ball. He's another multi positional player.
- 43:39Speaker 4: Now sometimes they'll play Die as the other linebacker with
- 43:42Speaker 4: Henley because he's far more athletic than Paraman so he'll
- 43:45Speaker 4: play depending on down in distant situations. And then this
- 43:49Speaker 4: is a team that plays dime on twenty six percent
- 43:52Speaker 4: of their defensive snaps, the second highest.
- 43:54Speaker 2: In the league.
- 43:55Speaker 4: So in their big Nickel still plays outside in dimes,
- 44:00Speaker 4: Ill comes inside and is a major player in their
- 44:03Speaker 4: pressure packages. Tarheeb still is a really good player and
- 44:07Speaker 4: a really important player for them. And I remember, yeah,
- 44:14Speaker 4: go ahead, he's been a player. And I love the
- 44:16Speaker 4: way Molden is there. Molden wasn't Molden a corner early
- 44:20Speaker 4: in his career. Well, Malden was kind of a slot
- 44:22Speaker 4: corner in college, but he's really become a safety in
- 44:25Speaker 4: the league. So he plays safety Molden and then they
- 44:29Speaker 4: play two safeties with him. He pretty much plays every snap.
- 44:33Speaker 4: But they played Jefferson, who I think has been in
- 44:35Speaker 4: the league for fifty years, and they play Nickens, who's
- 44:37Speaker 4: the rookie from Clemson. So Gray Micketson by the way
- 44:40Speaker 4: for old timers, Yeah, so they you know, they and
- 44:43Speaker 4: he's a pretty good player. I liked his tape at Clemson.
- 44:46Speaker 4: So they play a lot of guys, and they they
- 44:49Speaker 4: have guys who do a lot of different things. And
- 44:51Speaker 4: I haven't even mentioned. Don't forget they can they can
- 44:54Speaker 4: rush the quarterback they got Mac he still can rush
- 44:57Speaker 4: his speed to power. He's still one of the best.
- 44:59Speaker 4: They got who lines up outside and lines up inside.
- 45:03Speaker 4: I mean they've got players. Now, this is a pretty
- 45:05Speaker 4: good defense.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Eagles got the wrong toy Polo to man. They had
- 45:09Speaker 2: Marl mal.
- 45:11Speaker 4: I mean all thing is, you know, and even inside
- 45:14Speaker 4: they're big. They drafted the kid from Oregon, Caldwell, who
- 45:17Speaker 4: plays meaningful snaps.
- 45:18Speaker 2: He's loved.
- 45:19Speaker 1: I loved him at the Senior Bowl. By the way,
- 45:21Speaker 1: I thought it was really well for a guy who
- 45:22Speaker 1: was three.
- 45:23Speaker 2: He's got light feet.
- 45:24Speaker 4: I mean he's not quite Vitaveya, but he's kind of
- 45:26Speaker 4: in that, you know, that kind of thing where he's
- 45:29Speaker 4: got light feet for a man who's three forty right.
- 45:32Speaker 2: You know.
- 45:32Speaker 4: And so they're this is a good defense. This is
- 45:35Speaker 4: not an easy defense to play against.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Now.
- 45:37Speaker 1: Listen, though, when you say a team is going to
- 45:39Speaker 1: be in sub package primarily and in dime twenty six percent,
- 45:42Speaker 1: if you said that to me last year, I would
- 45:44Speaker 1: say the Eagle's gonna run all over that.
- 45:46Speaker 4: I guess I'm not going to be on diamonds first
- 45:48Speaker 4: and ten, they'll be in Big Nickel.
- 45:50Speaker 2: James is the guy you know.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Well, I would assume they'll be in in Big Nickel
- 45:53Speaker 1: or dime if the Eagles are an eleven, right, right, yeah, right,
- 45:57Speaker 1: So I would say, if I'm the Eagles, just like
- 45:59Speaker 1: last year, you put twelve personnel on the field and
- 46:01Speaker 1: you go and run up against even if they're.
- 46:02Speaker 2: In base, you probably think that you can.
- 46:04Speaker 1: Or if they're in Big Nickel, you you like your matchup,
- 46:06Speaker 1: and I would like it again, except I don't like
- 46:09Speaker 1: right now when the Eagles go twelve and put Greg
- 46:11Speaker 1: Helkata on the field just to get a team in base,
- 46:14Speaker 1: because it's not helping them. Greg Helcatar is not blocking anybody,
- 46:17Speaker 1: and neither are some of their alignment.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Right. So that's why he said, like when you.
- 46:22Speaker 4: Asked, I can't remember if you asked, or I don't
- 46:25Speaker 4: ask me about it? Is this the game, Barkley? Can
- 46:27Speaker 4: anyone answer that? I mean, and I'm just being honest,
- 46:30Speaker 4: can anyone answer that? No, there's no way to know
- 46:34Speaker 4: finner answer. I mean, we can all speculate, and you know,
- 46:37Speaker 4: like for ins of the Vice came out and said no,
- 46:39Speaker 4: there's no way it all happen this game. And then
- 46:41Speaker 4: Barkley runs for one point fifty, people are gonna say, well,
- 46:43Speaker 4: you're an idiot. I mean, there's no way to know this.
- 46:45Speaker 3: Ye would do that anyway?
- 46:46Speaker 2: Yeah, right, right to Adam's point.
- 46:49Speaker 1: So if the Eagles want to play twelve, because that's
- 46:52Speaker 1: their identity, then can we see Kim Latsu playing right?
- 46:57Speaker 1: And if we don't as well, we don't want to
- 46:59Speaker 1: tell who cares. Greg always says this, they know when.
- 47:02Speaker 2: You're gonna run. It's not to be predictable in the
- 47:05Speaker 2: run because if you're better and you're stronger, and you think.
- 47:09Speaker 4: In the last game the Eagles didn't know the Bears
- 47:11Speaker 4: are gonna line up and run the ball.
- 47:12Speaker 2: At some point, come on exactly.
- 47:15Speaker 1: So I mean, whether it's cam law too or just
- 47:18Speaker 1: you know, I mean, I actually like cam Lato now then,
- 47:21Speaker 1: more than throwing Matt pryor in as the extra offensive
- 47:24Speaker 1: linement going jumbo.
- 47:26Speaker 2: So there's got to be something though.
- 47:27Speaker 1: That's the point that you can't like, repeat the same
- 47:30Speaker 1: thing week after week and hope that something's gonna change.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Even though every every one of us can say every
- 47:36Speaker 1: time we talk to a coach. They're all about their
- 47:38Speaker 1: process and not about the results, and if the process
- 47:41Speaker 1: has worked in the past.
- 47:42Speaker 2: They're gonna double down stick to it.
- 47:44Speaker 1: And interestingly, Adam, I don't know if you saw the clip,
- 47:46Speaker 1: but the Hard Knocks clip of Nick Siriani talking to
- 47:49Speaker 1: Brandon Graham in the bubble. Nick Sirianni is like, hey, listen,
- 47:53Speaker 1: our process is sound. We're gonna keep doing what we do.
- 47:57Speaker 1: And that's where I wondered about the whole the different
- 48:00Speaker 1: being a coach who's had a successful versus it's not succeeding.
- 48:04Speaker 4: Now, two quick points. I want to just respond to that,
- 48:07Speaker 4: and then we can make our picks. Number one, this
- 48:11Speaker 4: is a game where theoretically they should be able to
- 48:13Speaker 4: attack on the outside because Still is a really good player.
- 48:17Speaker 4: But then the other corners are Jackson and cam Hart.
- 48:20Speaker 4: Now they're not bad players. I wouldn't call it a
- 48:22Speaker 4: weakness where oh my god, these guys are bad, but
- 48:25Speaker 4: you would think with Smith and Brown you'd be able
- 48:27Speaker 4: to do some work on the outside.
- 48:30Speaker 3: Again, Dante Jackson's had a number of injuries, draft he's
- 48:33Speaker 3: been around. He's kind of a journeyman thirty years old,
- 48:36Speaker 3: and he's a guy that you've probably got terrible, not
- 48:39Speaker 3: been bad. He was actually a pretty good player very
- 48:41Speaker 3: early scr Carolina.
- 48:43Speaker 4: But just to then to respond to your point before
- 48:45Speaker 4: we make our picks, that to me from speaking to
- 48:49Speaker 4: coaches through the years, is the toughest thing for a coach.
- 48:53Speaker 4: I know fans think, oh, they got to do something different.
- 48:55Speaker 4: We know that, and I'm not saying they shouldn't. I'm
- 48:57Speaker 4: just saying that when you've been successful, I mean they're
- 49:00Speaker 4: super Bowl champions, Okay, when you've been successful, you know,
- 49:05Speaker 4: it's really difficult to determine when you should change. That's
- 49:10Speaker 4: a really hard thing to do. And I know, like
- 49:12Speaker 4: I said, fans probably think, oh, Sirianni's an idiot, Patuto's
- 49:16Speaker 4: an idiot. They're doing the same thing.
- 49:17Speaker 2: It's not.
- 49:18Speaker 4: And like I said, I'm not advocating one way or
- 49:20Speaker 4: the other. I'm just saying it's a very difficult choice
- 49:23Speaker 4: to make. It's not as easy as a fan thinks
- 49:26Speaker 4: it might be.
- 49:27Speaker 3: I understand, But Jeff, here's my issue. Yeah, everything Greg
- 49:30Speaker 3: saying it's right, if you've played a specific way and
- 49:33Speaker 3: it's helped you win a super Bowl, why change? Well, yes,
- 49:35Speaker 3: they run the ball, incredibly well, one of the best
- 49:37Speaker 3: in the NFL history. But they don't anymore.
- 49:38Speaker 4: You're not even half of those great I'm not disagreeing
- 49:42Speaker 4: with that, right, you got it.
- 49:44Speaker 3: It's not that you all of a sudden have to
- 49:45Speaker 3: be throwing the ball forty times again. But it will
- 49:47Speaker 3: never happen. But you've got to figure out a way.
- 49:50Speaker 3: What can you have excellent passing personnel? I know the
- 49:53Speaker 3: offensive line guys has been a struggle. Even Greg has
- 49:56Speaker 3: pointed out an inside the tape the pass pro has
- 49:58Speaker 3: regressed lately, right, okay, but they can't hang their hat
- 50:01Speaker 3: at all. You talk about identity on the wrong game,
- 50:04Speaker 3: they can't no matter what they try. Yes, it could,
- 50:07Speaker 3: as Greg said, it could blow up any time. You
- 50:09Speaker 3: just don't you have no idea try. Here's the thing,
- 50:12Speaker 3: and I agree with you, I'm not disagreeing with at all.
- 50:15Speaker 3: But because of the style of player. Barkley is a
- 50:19Speaker 3: guy who can explode theoretically on any given play and
- 50:23Speaker 3: take it seventy yards for a touchdown. Barkley is not,
- 50:26Speaker 3: you know, just one of those like sustaining backs. Hey,
- 50:28Speaker 3: at his best, he's going to give you a file.
- 50:30Speaker 3: He's not Kyen Williams, who's a really nice player. But
- 50:33Speaker 3: essentially Karen Williams gives you six seven yards, which is
- 50:36Speaker 3: perfectly fine in the context of the Rams offense, because
- 50:39Speaker 3: Barkley is that guy that any time you hand him
- 50:43Speaker 3: in the ball, he could theoretically go seventy yards. It's
- 50:47Speaker 3: that even makes this decision even more difficult. But I'm
- 50:51Speaker 3: going to respond to that this way. This is what
- 50:53Speaker 3: Jeff brought up. This is where you have Tank Bixby.
- 50:56Speaker 3: You don't He's not gonna get the ball fifteen times.
- 50:57Speaker 3: We understand that, liter.
- 51:01Speaker 4: We're all The fact that we're having this conversation just
- 51:04Speaker 4: tells you how difficult a decision it is. I get it,
- 51:06Speaker 4: but I'm right or wrong here, I know, but I
- 51:08Speaker 4: know I get gets wrong because they're not right.
- 51:13Speaker 3: But it's guys, it's not hard. Yeah, you can get
- 51:16Speaker 3: Tank Pixby a little bit more involved. Okay, he gets
- 51:18Speaker 3: one carry last week and you could run the football.
- 51:20Speaker 4: Yeah, well they did, right, Okay.
- 51:24Speaker 2: What's that? I think? Always?
- 51:27Speaker 3: I know he looks look great at a limit of time.
- 51:29Speaker 1: I think the biggest complication for them, Going back to
- 51:31Speaker 1: what we were talking about leading into this, about a
- 51:34Speaker 1: coach is being steeped in their philosophy and their process
- 51:36Speaker 1: is thirteen days ago about they were eight and two, right,
- 51:40Speaker 1: So their impetus was not to make wholesale, radical changes,
- 51:45Speaker 1: we have to do something. It was to just try to
- 51:47Speaker 1: get better at what they weren't doing well while they
- 51:50Speaker 1: were winning eighty games. Then you get hitting the head
- 51:53Speaker 1: within a five day span and lose two games. But
- 51:57Speaker 1: if you want to now take a step back and say,
- 51:59Speaker 1: we're coming down the street year, we still haven't figured
- 52:01Speaker 1: it out and we have now lost and.
- 52:04Speaker 4: By the way game, by the way, in the by
- 52:07Speaker 4: the way, in the middle of the second quarter against Dallas,
- 52:09Speaker 4: we would have said, man.
- 52:10Speaker 2: Boy, does this Eagles team look like the Eagles?
- 52:13Speaker 4: I mean they had in the second half. All I'm
- 52:16Speaker 4: saying is it's not. And I get believe me. You know,
- 52:19Speaker 4: we all live in the phild Off area. We get it,
- 52:21Speaker 4: We understand it. You know, the most passionate fans around,
- 52:26Speaker 4: I mean they live and die with this team with
- 52:28Speaker 4: every single everything. We all get that. All I'm saying
- 52:31Speaker 4: is from being around coaches. You know it's it's not
- 52:35Speaker 4: an easy decision. You just nailed that, Jeff.
- 52:37Speaker 2: They were eight and two right.
- 52:39Speaker 4: I mean, you know, I do Seattle Radio and I
- 52:42Speaker 4: you know, and I did it Friday today, and you know,
- 52:47Speaker 4: they asked about the last game because their offense wasn't great,
- 52:49Speaker 4: and I said, you know what, it was a game
- 52:51Speaker 4: that played out a certain way. And then you're just
- 52:53Speaker 4: trying to win the game. You know, you're not making
- 52:56Speaker 4: a judgment about the whole season that you're just trying
- 52:59Speaker 4: to win the game. And they won the game. You know,
- 53:02Speaker 4: every game is not pretty. Now, the Eagles offense has
- 53:04Speaker 4: obviously not been pretty for ninety five percent of the season.
- 53:08Speaker 4: But your point is we can go on and on
- 53:10Speaker 4: in this. We're just going around out up good.
- 53:13Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 53:14Speaker 3: Hey, it's Jeff Mosher.

- 55:33Speaker 1: let's predict this game. This was probably the toughest game
- 55:36Speaker 1: of the year for me A thousand times.
- 55:39Speaker 3: Can I defer?
- 55:40Speaker 1: No, you gotta stick your neck out and make a pick.
- 55:43Speaker 1: In fact, just for trying to deffer, I'm gonna make
- 55:45Speaker 1: you make the first pick.
- 55:46Speaker 3: Ove. Well, I got it right last week a pick
- 55:49Speaker 3: against the Eagles. Now, I for truthful told I was
- 55:51Speaker 3: gonna pick the Eagles in this game. If Carter's planning,
- 55:53Speaker 3: he's not, So I'm going with the the Powder Blues.
- 55:58Speaker 3: I'm gonna go with the Chargers twenty four to twenty.
- 56:05Speaker 3: My player of the game. That's that's a tough one.
- 56:10Speaker 2: Man too. Lad McConkey, nice, okay, I Phil, Lad? Not
- 56:19Speaker 2: definitely not Phil.
- 56:20Speaker 4: I'm picking I'm picking the Chargers. I've been picking the
- 56:23Speaker 4: Eagles every week just because I kept thinking, just like
- 56:26Speaker 4: you know, we talked about, and of course this will
- 56:28Speaker 4: be the week they're great. But I just feel like
- 56:30Speaker 4: watching the Chargers on tape, They're a good football team.
- 56:33Speaker 4: I think the Eagles are not right now, which theoretically
- 56:36Speaker 4: could change. But I'm going Chargers in this game, and
- 56:39Speaker 4: I'm going to go Chargers twenty four to seventeen. And
- 56:42Speaker 4: I'm going to pick Justin Herbert.
- 56:44Speaker 1: All right, before I make my pick, Greg, what do
- 56:46Speaker 1: you think the line is? I love doing this with
- 56:47Speaker 1: you because I know you pay no attention to it.
- 56:49Speaker 2: I have no So what do you think the line is? Oh?
- 56:54Speaker 3: Who do you think's favorite?
- 56:55Speaker 2: Yeah? Do you think I would?
- 56:57Speaker 4: I mean to me, the Chargers should be favored, probably
- 56:59Speaker 4: because they at home, which I think factors into the
- 57:01Speaker 4: way people do lines, right, I have no.
- 57:03Speaker 2: Idea factors, And so what do you think the line is?
- 57:05Speaker 2: I would say that they're favored by two and a half,
- 57:08Speaker 2: Chargers by two and a half. Yeah, yeah, Eagles by
- 57:10Speaker 2: two and a half. Go figure, it's.
- 57:12Speaker 3: Still two and a half even without Carter.
- 57:14Speaker 2: I just checked it now, it's two and a half Eagles. Yeah.
- 57:17Speaker 2: In fact, that's up I thought at one point I
- 57:19Speaker 2: saw one one, one and a half. So very interesting
- 57:22Speaker 2: that the Eagles are favored. I'm sure that the Herbard
- 57:24Speaker 2: injury and uncertainty factors as well be the only thing
- 57:27Speaker 2: that makes sense. Yeah. So, admittedly I had a write
- 57:31Speaker 2: up for Philly Voice.
- 57:32Speaker 1: I had the Eagles winning this game until the jail
- 57:35Speaker 1: and Carter news broke. We don't publish it until later
- 57:38Speaker 1: in the week, so I changed it. I did change
- 57:41Speaker 1: it to the I do believe the Eagles will win
- 57:42Speaker 1: the game if Jalen Carter were playing. Now I'm far
- 57:45Speaker 1: more skeptical. So I am picking the Chargers to win
- 57:48Speaker 1: twenty six to twenty three. I'm gonna pick two week
- 57:50Speaker 1: Polow two two two we Polow.
- 57:52Speaker 2: Two really good player, by the way, Yeah.
- 57:54Speaker 1: Because he can rush the passer he drops in the coverage,
- 57:57Speaker 1: wouldn't surprise me if you had a couple of sacks.
- 57:58Speaker 1: Even if he picked off ass that might be errant.
- 58:01Speaker 1: While hurt is getting hit, maybe a fumble recovery. Just
- 58:05Speaker 1: think he's gonna make a big swing game, a swing
- 58:08Speaker 1: play in the game, and the Charger are gonna win.
- 58:10Speaker 1: And maybe for the first time in the history of
- 58:12Speaker 1: us doing this show, at least virtually the last few years,
- 58:15Speaker 1: we have all picked against the Philadelphia Eagles, which of
- 58:19Speaker 1: course means Eagles are gonna win by thirty.
- 58:23Speaker 2: There's no question about that. Yeah, yes, one quick note.
- 58:28Speaker 3: What side does Tuley Polo tow line up, do you know?
- 58:31Speaker 2: Uh?
- 58:32Speaker 4: Predominantly on the left, but he moves around, but predominantly
- 58:35Speaker 4: on the left.
- 58:36Speaker 3: So which means he would go up against the right tackle.
- 58:38Speaker 2: Well, but so he goes up over left tackle. Right,
- 58:41Speaker 2: I thought I saw him up over.
- 58:43Speaker 4: He moves around, but Khalil Mack will go against Fred
