Latest / The KFAB Comment Line with Jean Stothert / Chip Maxwell on Islamophobia
Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: Chip Maxwell in for Gene Stothert. The Girl on Fire
- 0:08Speaker 1: is on vacation this week. And what a lineup. I
- 0:13Speaker 1: heard just driving in here as I pulled into the.
- 0:17Speaker 1: The home of the 50,000 watt legacy blowtorch here, um,
- 0:21Speaker 1: in Dundee, uh, passing all those blue dot signs, including
- 0:25Speaker 1: the ones with the wave incorporated into the blue dot.
- 0:28Speaker 1: We've only got a little over a month left to
- 0:30Speaker 1: turn that blue dot red, my friends. Um, but, uh, uh,
- 0:35Speaker 1: so here's the deal. I'm going to bookend it for you.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I'll be here today and Friday. In the meantime, tomorrow, uh,
- 0:42Speaker 1: Gretna Mayor Mike Evans and State Senator Kathleen Kaut. There's
- 0:46Speaker 1: a tag team for you. And then on Wednesday, the
- 0:50Speaker 1: great Lucy Chapman goes full-blown host in the KFAB studio
- 0:58Speaker 1: on Wednesday. And then Thursday, it's the gold standard. Gary Saddlemeyer.
- 1:04Speaker 1: By the time Friday rolls around, this is starting to
- 1:06Speaker 1: look like an arc or a bell curve or something.
- 1:08Speaker 1: It starts low, and then it peaks during the week,
- 1:11Speaker 1: and it may be on the decline for, I don't know.
- 1:13Speaker 1: I'll do my best to hold up my end of
- 1:16Speaker 1: this bargain, but this ought to be a fun week.
- 1:20Speaker 1: At the controls is producer Peyton Heilig. Well, Peyton, the
- 1:26Speaker 1: last time I was in this studio, you were gallivanting
- 1:30Speaker 1: in the Caribbean or somewhere on a honeymoon enjoying wedded bliss. Congratulations.
- 1:36Speaker 1: You're now a happily married man.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Jim Maxwell, thank you very much. I appreciate it. It's
- 1:40Speaker 3: great to have you back on the comment line as well.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Well, thank you. You don't look any worse for the wear.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Well, that's good.
- 1:46Speaker 1: So far, marriage seems to suit you well. Yeah. We
- 1:50Speaker 1: all kids start coming. Let's not brush it. Let's not
- 1:52Speaker 1: brush it. Just enjoy the honeymoon phase. But yeah, Peyton's
- 1:56Speaker 1: at the controls. I've inflicted on him a barrage of
- 2:01Speaker 1: Monday bumpers when we get to the break, some Monday
- 2:04Speaker 1: themed bumpers. Bumpers for today. Have a little fun on
- 2:08Speaker 1: a Monday. Get things rolling. So you know the drill, right? 402-558-1110. Now,
- 2:15Speaker 1: this is the KFAB comment line. And some of you
- 2:19Speaker 1: may have already stacked some up this morning. Comment at KFAB.com.
- 2:24Speaker 1: And so we'll share those in due course. And then,
- 2:28Speaker 1: of course, there's the TalkBack app, the TalkBack mic on
- 2:34Speaker 1: the iHeartRadio app. which was utilized this morning. I heard
- 2:40Speaker 1: a new conspiracy theory I hadn't heard before, that the
- 2:43Speaker 1: reason Jim Rose is absent, is in absentia, is because
- 2:48Speaker 1: he is auditioning for The View. Rosie to The View,
- 2:53Speaker 1: not Rosie O'Donnell, but our own Jim Rose on The View.
- 2:57Speaker 1: You know, that just stopped me in my tracks in
- 3:00Speaker 1: my morning routine this morning. I thought, wow, now that
- 3:03Speaker 1: would be appointment television. Jim Rose on The View in
- 3:09Speaker 1: the midst of all of that chaos and cacophony, that
- 3:14Speaker 1: would be something to behold. Now, I have a feeling
- 3:17Speaker 1: the Talk Back Mike contributor was maybe pulling our collective
- 3:21Speaker 1: leg on that one, but fun to think about. I
- 3:25Speaker 1: have all kinds of things on my list. You have
- 3:28Speaker 1: many things, I'm sure, on your list, KFAB Nation. See,
- 3:31Speaker 1: that's the beauty. the KFAB comment line. It's kind of
- 3:34Speaker 1: a free skate, all skate, open skate. Isn't that what
- 3:36Speaker 1: Bill O'Reilly used to say when he'd just throw the
- 3:39Speaker 1: phone lines open for an hour or so? But I
- 3:42Speaker 1: do have some ideas. I'm wondering if anybody out there,
- 3:46Speaker 1: I don't know, Peyton, have you seen the Daily Wire movie, Run, Hide, Fight, Infidels?
- 3:53Speaker 3: No, I'm not familiar with that.
- 3:55Speaker 1: If you look for it online, you'll see. And you
- 3:58Speaker 1: have to subscribe to the Daily Wire channel just get
- 4:01Speaker 1: access to it. So it's a somewhat limited targeted audience.
- 4:05Speaker 1: But the premise is that a jihadi group takes over
- 4:09Speaker 1: a college campus and kills a bunch of people and
- 4:12Speaker 1: takes hostages. And then they pick the wrong campus. They
- 4:17Speaker 1: pick the wrong day. They pick the wrong guy because
- 4:19Speaker 1: there's a special forces guy who was giving a speech
- 4:22Speaker 1: on campus about the radical Islamic threat to America. And
- 4:27Speaker 1: so I have not seen it. I'm just going on
- 4:30Speaker 1: the trailer and so forth. But he rallies people to
- 4:34Speaker 1: fight back. And I'm just curious if anybody out there
- 4:39Speaker 1: has seen that. I would love to get your take
- 4:42Speaker 1: on it. I figure in KFAB Nation, there must be
- 4:46Speaker 1: one or two people who've seen it so far. I
- 4:48Speaker 1: still have not seen it. The Odyssey, you'll be the
- 4:51Speaker 1: first ones to know when I do see it, either
- 4:53Speaker 1: at this microphone or at, you are checking with Chip
- 4:57Speaker 1: every morning, right? You know, eat your breakfast, take your vitamins,
- 5:00Speaker 1: check with Chip, the KFAB podcast page. I learned listening
- 5:08Speaker 1: to the morning show that Hasan Piker has jumped in
- 5:12Speaker 1: to defend Dan Osborne. I'm not sure. If Dan Osborne
- 5:15Speaker 1: welcomes that help or– I can already see the next
- 5:20Speaker 1: Pete Ricketts ad in this campaign. The things about– what
- 5:26Speaker 1: Dan Osborne has said behind closed doors about supporting Democrats,
- 5:31Speaker 1: supporting benefits for illegal immigrants and the rest of it. Now,
- 5:35Speaker 1: here it comes. Hassan Piker, well, of course, Dan Osborne
- 5:40Speaker 1: was being honest about the dog poop life most Nebraskans live.
- 5:45Speaker 1: He used a harsher word than poop, but I don't
- 5:47Speaker 1: want to jeopardize our FCC license here at NewsRadio 1110 KFAB. So, oh, yeah,
- 5:58Speaker 1: Hassan Piker jumped in with both feet to defend Dan
- 6:02Speaker 1: Osborne's take on how terrible life is. So these poor,
- 6:06Speaker 1: desperate Nebraskans, all they have to get excited about is
- 6:08Speaker 1: Donald Trump. You know, it's a drug. It's the opiate
- 6:12Speaker 1: of the people, right? It's just something to numb them
- 6:16Speaker 1: from the pain of their miserable lives. And so they
- 6:19Speaker 1: get excited about Trump. And Dan Osborne's going to tell
- 6:22Speaker 1: it like it is and lead them into some new, well,
- 6:26Speaker 1: he would say independent promised land. But it sounds increasingly,
- 6:30Speaker 1: as we learn more behind the scenes, he's going to
- 6:33Speaker 1: rally to the Democrats and their increasingly hard left agenda,
- 6:39Speaker 1: which brings me, of course, to the sides, like I mentioned. See,
- 6:42Speaker 1: I live in Bellevue. I work in West Omaha. But
- 6:45Speaker 1: coming through Memorial and Dundee to get to KFAB, oh,
- 6:49Speaker 1: the blue dots are out in force. They've been out
- 6:52Speaker 1: for a while, of course, including the ones with the
- 6:55Speaker 1: blue wave worked into the dot. Well, our task is
- 7:01Speaker 1: before us. turn this blue dot red. And I'm, I'm
- 7:05Speaker 1: really starting to get annoyed at some of the Republicans
- 7:07Speaker 1: I've run into locally and hear or read nationally. Maybe
- 7:13Speaker 1: we can hold onto the Senate. The house is laws.
- 7:17Speaker 1: It's going to be a bloodbath. It's going to be,
- 7:19Speaker 1: I don't, I'm sorry. I'm still not buying it. Uh, it's, uh,
- 7:24Speaker 1: the polls always say we're going to lose. Right. And,
- 7:30Speaker 1: There are some factors that we can get into here
- 7:33Speaker 1: that make it challenging. Iran, of course, number one on
- 7:37Speaker 1: the list. And then I guess we've got now Austin.
- 7:41Speaker 1: We've got an ICE shooting. And I suppose some think, oh, perfect.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Some on the left think perfect, perfect. I don't know.
- 7:48Speaker 1: I just don't get the sense. Tell me if I'm wrong. 402-558-1110.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Comment at kfab.com. You know, we had the two events
- 7:59Speaker 1: in Minnesota. We had a woman who drove her car
- 8:04Speaker 1: into an ICE agent and was shot and killed. Her partner,
- 8:09Speaker 1: by the way, was walking around the scene, filming the
- 8:14Speaker 1: confrontation with her phone and taunting ICE officers. So this
- 8:18Speaker 1: thing about Well, just a poor mother dropped her kids
- 8:21Speaker 1: off at school, found herself in the wrong place at
- 8:23Speaker 1: the wrong time, and he gunned her down. Well, no,
- 8:26Speaker 1: this was, like I said, her partner was filming it
- 8:30Speaker 1: and relishing it. And so she was killed. And then
- 8:34Speaker 1: we had the guy who had been caught on film
- 8:40Speaker 1: cursing at, spitting at ICE agents, kicking the taillight out
- 8:45Speaker 1: of their vehicle. And then on another occasion, He went
- 8:49Speaker 1: back for more, armed with a military-style pistol and several
- 8:55Speaker 1: extra clips of ammo for the pistol. And he ended
- 8:59Speaker 1: up being shot and killed while resisting arrest. Now, if
- 9:03Speaker 1: anything wrong was done there, okay, hold the wrongdoers accountable.
- 9:07Speaker 1: But that— so you had those two incidents, and then you had,
- 9:11Speaker 1: I don't know, Thousands, tens of thousands of interactions all
- 9:15Speaker 1: over the country, hundreds of thousands of interactions involving ICE
- 9:20Speaker 1: with no ripple, basically. Things handled with a minimum of
- 9:23Speaker 1: drama and professionalism. There was a guy, was it in
- 9:28Speaker 1: Houston maybe a few months ago, who was shot. But again,
- 9:32Speaker 1: he hit the accelerator and almost ran into ICE agents
- 9:37Speaker 1: trying to escape arrest. And he got shot. And now
- 9:40Speaker 1: the Austin case continues. I don't know all the facts yet.
- 9:43Speaker 1: They're still coming out. They're still spilling out. But if
- 9:45Speaker 1: you want to chime in on that one, 402-558-1110, comment
- 9:50Speaker 1: at kfab.com or take advantage of the talkback mic on
- 9:54Speaker 1: the iHeartRadio app. Larry S. wants to kick off the
- 9:58Speaker 1: conversation this morning. Larry. welcome to the show.
- 10:01Speaker 4: Well, good morning, Chip. First question is, how's Clint Bellows?
- 10:06Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. I used Clint Bellows' bumpers the last
- 10:09Speaker 1: time I was here. I haven't talked to Clint in ages.
- 10:13Speaker 1: The last I knew, he was maybe thinking about moving
- 10:16Speaker 1: back to California. But I don't know For sure. But
- 10:21Speaker 1: I have a special place in my heart for Clint, yeah.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Yeah, well, I hope we can keep him from doing that.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Keep him here, huh? Yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Anyway, my main question is, it needs to be discussed
- 10:33Speaker 4: in Omaha about the growing population of what appear to
- 10:36Speaker 4: be Somalians on the Northwest radio between Cumming and Blondo.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Nobody ever talks about it. And it is the worst
- 10:47Speaker 4: area in Omaha that is definitely blighted and ought to
- 10:50Speaker 4: be blighted and ought to be developed. But nobody talks
- 10:55Speaker 4: about it.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Educate me on this, Larry. So you're saying there's an
- 11:00Speaker 1: influx of Somalis in Nebraska along that corridor?
- 11:05Speaker 4: Well, from Cummings Street to Seward, on the west side
- 11:11Speaker 4: of Northwest Radio, for a long time was... an Islamic
- 11:15Speaker 4: center of development. Now it is, I mean, not Islamic,
- 11:21Speaker 4: but yeah, Islamic, but now it is Somalian. And it
- 11:26Speaker 4: is severely blighted. They want to do away with the
- 11:29Speaker 4: area just south of the overpass there on northwest south
- 11:34Speaker 4: of the Dodge, but they're not touching this area. And
- 11:39Speaker 4: I see there used to be a large population of
- 11:42Speaker 4: homeless that have been moved into some apartment buildings on
- 11:45Speaker 4: the east side of 46. But nobody talks about it.
- 11:50Speaker 4: There are unmarked cars parked in one of those apartment
- 11:53Speaker 4: buildings that are apparently for people with a city or
- 11:57Speaker 4: currently moved into some of those apartments on Lafayette.
- 12:00Speaker 1: So, Larry, are you talking about like east of Benson
- 12:03Speaker 1: High School?
- 12:05Speaker 3: No.
- 12:05Speaker 1: No.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Between Cumming and Hamilton.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Oh, between Cumming and Hamilton. Okay, well, I know that
- 12:11Speaker 1: area well, growing up in the cathedral area and going
- 12:15Speaker 1: north often for my routine for sports activities and things.
- 12:23Speaker 1: All right. Well, Larry, we'll have to keep an eye
- 12:26Speaker 1: on this development. That has not boded well for some
- 12:30Speaker 1: other pockets of the country. And thanks for getting us
- 12:34Speaker 1: rolling this morning. Larry, on to George. George, welcome to
- 12:38Speaker 1: the show.
- 12:40Speaker 5: Morning, brother.
- 12:41Speaker 1: Good morning.
- 12:42Speaker 2: You guys put a horrible thought in my mind, and
- 12:45Speaker 2: now I need an answer. What color dress is Jim
- 12:47Speaker 2: Rose wearing on The View?
- 12:49Speaker 1: Oh, now you put a horrible thought in my mind.
- 12:51Speaker 1: How am I going to unsee that, George? Oh, my goodness.
- 12:55Speaker 1: I'm going to concentrate and do the rest of the show. Oh,
- 12:58Speaker 1: my goodness.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I think this ice nonsense is exactly what it is.
- 13:04Speaker 4: It's nonsense.
- 13:05Speaker 2: They've had probably several million encounters over the course of
- 13:10Speaker 2: the last 18 months.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I know they've undersold it when it was in
- 13:13Speaker 1: the thousands.
- 13:15Speaker 4: Oh, I would say it's in a couple millions.
- 13:17Speaker 2: We've got a couple hundred thousand people already.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Out of the country. Right. So you figure they're in
- 13:25Speaker 4: a couple.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Million very easily encounters. And you figure law enforcement has
- 13:31Speaker 2: about 80 million encounters a year. ends up with about 1,200
- 13:34Speaker 2: people a year that are killed, most of which were
- 13:38Speaker 2: carrying a weapon or doing something to harm the officer.
- 13:41Speaker 2: We get, like, I think the last time I saw,
- 13:44Speaker 2: out of the 1,200 or 1,400 deaths we have a
- 13:48Speaker 2: year with police encounters, there was less than 4% that
- 13:51Speaker 2: were unarmed. And they were giants.
- 13:57Speaker 1: You mean physically? You mean big people, hard to control? Yes, absolutely.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Especially if you're an officer alone in the middle of the.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Street at midnight, and you've got.
- 14:06Speaker 2: A guy 6'6, 290 pounds, that looks like a professional wrestler.
- 14:11Speaker 1: And maybe on something, too. Absolutely, brother. Meth or something
- 14:15Speaker 1: that adds to the threat. Yeah.
- 14:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:19Speaker 1: All right. Well, George, I'm with you on that one.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Thanks for the call.
- 14:22Speaker 2: 402-558-1110.
- 14:22Speaker 1: Comment at kfab.com. Uh, the, uh, well, I'm not, I'm
- 14:29Speaker 1: not with you on what color dress Rosie's going to
- 14:31Speaker 1: wear on the view, but, um, I, I don't get
- 14:34Speaker 1: the sense that this ice incident is gonna, I don't know,
- 14:38Speaker 1: you know, an early September or October surprise for the
- 14:42Speaker 1: election or something, because I don't know. I think people, uh,
- 14:46Speaker 1: I think the silent majority is where George is. Most
- 14:49Speaker 1: of these encounters happen without drama. And when there is drama,
- 14:55Speaker 1: we usually find out that somebody did something. Somebody tried
- 14:59Speaker 1: to run. Somebody used a vehicle to try to block
- 15:03Speaker 1: or break out of a situation. And I don't know.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I don't think this one is going to have legs.
- 15:14Speaker 1: But the floor is open. 402-558-1110. Comment at kfab.com. I
- 15:23Speaker 1: want to know if anybody has seen Run, Height, run, hide,
- 15:27Speaker 1: fight infidels. It's getting trashed, of course, on the left. Oh,
- 15:34Speaker 1: it's Islamophobic. It's just one big cliche of crazy evil
- 15:42Speaker 1: Islamic terrorists. I haven't seen it, so I don't know
- 15:46Speaker 1: for sure, but let's be careful in our terminology. A
- 15:51Speaker 1: phobia is an irrational fear or hatred of something. And
- 15:58Speaker 1: what I've read about this so far is that it's
- 16:01Speaker 1: a fictional story. First of all, this is a fictional story,
- 16:05Speaker 1: but it is drawn from events that have actually happened.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Terrorist strikes, takeovers, grabbing of hostages, executing of people. So,
- 16:22Speaker 1: what would you call it? Historical fiction, maybe I guess.
- 16:25Speaker 1: So in other words, to call something a phobia, well,
- 16:27Speaker 1: but wait, have these kinds of things happened? Could they happen?
- 16:32Speaker 1: Are there people who've been chanting death to America for
- 16:35Speaker 1: 47 years, calling us the great Satan? Are there people,
- 16:40Speaker 1: I'm sorry, if you're going to get historical about it, um, for, uh,
- 16:45Speaker 1: more than a thousand years, uh, Muslims have been coming
- 16:49Speaker 1: for the West, you know, uh, tried to come up
- 16:53Speaker 1: through Vienna, tried to come from the other direction, through
- 16:57Speaker 1: Spain and into France, the Battle of Tours, the Siege
- 17:01Speaker 1: of Malta, the Battle of Lepanto, trying to come in
- 17:06Speaker 1: through Greece. You know, there have been, and I guess
- 17:12Speaker 1: one premise of the movie is, the special ops guy
- 17:15Speaker 1: who's had training and has had battles in the past
- 17:19Speaker 1: with radical Islam, He talks about immigration and using our
- 17:25Speaker 1: freedoms against us as a way for radical Islam to gain. Well,
- 17:30Speaker 1: look what's happened in Europe. Look what's happening there. And,
- 17:34Speaker 1: you know, when Larry called, I don't have any beef
- 17:36Speaker 1: with Somalis because of their race or ethnicity. But look
- 17:43Speaker 1: what has happened in communities where the people don't come
- 17:46Speaker 1: to assimilate and where the American dream seems to be.
- 17:51Speaker 1: how to defraud the system, how to get access to
- 17:55Speaker 1: taxpayer dollars, not build up business and create jobs and
- 18:00Speaker 1: be a productive citizen, and a real sort of angry
- 18:04Speaker 1: chip on the shoulder toward America. Ilhan Omar, anyone? And so, well,
- 18:16Speaker 1: if you've seen it, I'd love to know your take,
- 18:18Speaker 1: including critical. If you thought it was a bust, a bomb.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Oh, Peyton.
- 18:22Speaker 3: I did get a message here. Comment at KFAB.com. What
- 18:25Speaker 3: do we have? Email from Jeremy.
- 18:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Saying in regards to Run, Hide, Fight. I am a
- 18:31Speaker 3: Daily Wire subscriber and have seen Run, Hide, Fight infidels.
- 18:35Speaker 3: It is a great movie. There are some scenes that
- 18:37Speaker 3: are funny and lots of shooting.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Okay.
- 18:40Speaker 3: The movie accentuates the ignorance of the left and uses
- 18:44Speaker 3: them to further their cause and destroys them in the end.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Okay, so the Marxist-Muslim alliance, it turns out there's no
- 18:56Speaker 1: long-term future for that. The one wants to eventually wipe
- 19:00Speaker 1: out the other. Actually, I did read something where there's
- 19:05Speaker 1: like a free Palestine student thing happening on campus, and
- 19:11Speaker 1: when the real McCoy, when the true McCoy, Radical Islamists
- 19:15Speaker 1: show up on campus. They think, oh, great, our brothers
- 19:18Speaker 1: are here. And the two leaders, one of them is
- 19:21Speaker 1: summarily executed by the actual Islamic terrorists. Get out of
- 19:26Speaker 1: the way. You're a nuisance. And I guess the other
- 19:28Speaker 1: guy thinks he's going to play on their sympathy by
- 19:34Speaker 1: saying he's homosexual. They take him up and throw him
- 19:37Speaker 1: off a roof. And now, again, people would say, you see?
- 19:40Speaker 1: You see that? It's just Islamophobic cliches and tropes. And, well, okay,
- 19:48Speaker 1: but have those things happened yet? So, well, anybody else
- 19:54Speaker 1: seen it? We'd love to hear from you. Oh, here's
- 19:57Speaker 1: the first Monday bumper. It's more of a misty Monday.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Rather than a stormy Monday. It's T-Bone Walker. His week
- 20:07Speaker 1: is off to a rough start. Tell us about it, T-Bone. Yeah.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Maybe the rest of the week will get better. Like
- 20:23Speaker 1: on the KFAB comment line. Oh, no.
- 20:28Speaker 6: Oh, no.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Okay, we better bail out of this. We're having a
- 20:36Speaker 1: pretty good Monday morning so far. Chip Maxwell in for
- 20:39Speaker 1: Gene Stothert. Peyton's at the controls. It's the KFAB comment line.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Lord have mercy on News Radio 1110 KFAB. By the way,
- 20:47Speaker 1: my name is Chip Maxwell. I am filling in for
- 20:49Speaker 1: the girl on fire, Gene Stothert, on the KFAB comment line.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Peyton Heilig at the controls, of course, as the producer.
- 20:58Speaker 1: And I'll be with you today and Friday. And then
- 21:01Speaker 1: in between tomorrow, uh, Gretna mayor, Mike Evans and state
- 21:05Speaker 1: Senator Kathleen Kauth, uh, our tag team in a tomorrow,
- 21:09Speaker 1: the great Lucy Chapman on Wednesday, the gold standard, Gary
- 21:13Speaker 1: Saddlemeyer on Thursday. And then I'll try to follow that
- 21:17Speaker 1: lineup again on Friday. Uh, in the meantime, four Oh
- 21:22Speaker 1: two five, five, eight, 11, 10 comment at KFAB.com and
- 21:26Speaker 1: the talkback Mike on the I heart radio app. Um,
- 21:31Speaker 1: Got a few more Monday bumpers for you before we're done.
- 21:35Speaker 1: So we've rolled out a few topics and one of
- 21:37Speaker 1: them was Hassan Piker jumping in to defend Dan Osborne saying, well,
- 21:44Speaker 1: Nebraskans have such terrible lives. You know, Trump is a narcotic,
- 21:48Speaker 1: is a drug that gets them excited and numbs them
- 21:52Speaker 1: so they can deal with their otherwise terrible lives. And
- 21:55Speaker 1: Hassan Piker's, well, yeah, that's how it is in Nebraska.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Dan Osborne's just being honest. I don't know if Dan
- 22:03Speaker 1: Osborne wants that kind of help from Hassan Piker. But
- 22:08Speaker 1: we had an email come in at comment at kfab.com. Now, this,
- 22:13Speaker 1: of course, is a medium that values free speech. And
- 22:18Speaker 1: we want to let people have their say. By the way,
- 22:21Speaker 1: whatever your position is on these issues, you are welcome. Now, Peyton,
- 22:27Speaker 1: you found this one. It's a little spicy. Let's go
- 22:30Speaker 1: ahead and share it with the listeners and then run
- 22:33Speaker 1: with it a bit.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Comment at KFAB.com. This email comes in. Perhaps this evil
- 22:39Speaker 3: commie coward, Hassan Piker, should get the same treatment that
- 22:44Speaker 3: our left gave the beloved president. brilliant charlie kirk yikes
- 22:49Speaker 3: no conservatives don't murder its opposition okay that's the demonic
- 22:54Speaker 3: democrat tactic end of email okay.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I was a little worried you know if he had
- 22:59Speaker 1: stopped with hey let's do to him what they did
- 23:01Speaker 1: to charlie i don't know if we would have even
- 23:03Speaker 1: aired it but then the emailer says no no no
- 23:06Speaker 1: we don't do that you know that that's demonic um
- 23:10Speaker 1: but uh Let's get into Hasan Piker just a bit here, Peyton.
- 23:15Speaker 1: So we were talking during the break. For people, okay,
- 23:20Speaker 1: I'm 64. I'm a boomer. And look at someone like
- 23:23Speaker 1: Hasan Piker. First of all, you've got some more audio
- 23:26Speaker 1: from him, I think. But also, you were noting, well,
- 23:29Speaker 1: in my demo, this guy's big. I've seen that he's glib.
- 23:34Speaker 1: You know, he's a handsome guy. He's glib. but there
- 23:38Speaker 1: seems to be something more going on, Pete. What is it?
- 23:41Speaker 1: What is the attraction?
- 23:42Speaker 3: The attraction is the live streaming through a platform called Twitch.
- 23:47Speaker 3: How many of you know what Twitch is? Do you
- 23:49Speaker 3: know what Twitch is? Twitch is a live streaming platform, okay?
- 23:53Speaker 3: You go on to Twitch and you can stream for
- 23:56Speaker 3: hours and hours on end. And I think that's why
- 23:59Speaker 3: he is particularly favorable to the younger demographic. When they
- 24:04Speaker 3: say he's a political streamer, That's different than being a
- 24:08Speaker 3: political commentator. As a commentator, you go on to Fox News,
- 24:12Speaker 3: you go on to CNN, and you say your take
- 24:14Speaker 3: during your hit, and you move on. He streams. And
- 24:18Speaker 3: that's where we got his response to the Dan Osborne leak.
- 24:22Speaker 3: He was on a live video watching the CNN hit,
- 24:27Speaker 3: and he responded to it on his Twitch stream. And
- 24:30Speaker 3: people can come in there into the viewer lobby online.
- 24:35Speaker 3: and watch for as long as they want to watch,
- 24:36Speaker 3: and then tune out, and then they can watch it later.
- 24:39Speaker 1: So wait a minute, wait a minute. This is like
- 24:42Speaker 1: the show we're doing now, except it's not going out
- 24:46Speaker 1: over radio waves. It's streamed.
- 24:48Speaker 3: It's online.
- 24:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Okay. Twitch.com. You can go on your computer, your phone.
- 24:52Speaker 3: You got an app.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Oh, boy. Okay. So he was watching the reaction to
- 24:59Speaker 1: his Dan Osborne defense and And then reacted to that?
- 25:04Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Is that what you're saying?
- 25:05Speaker 3: Yep. He watched the first question and I'll play it here.
- 25:06Speaker 1: You have something for us?
- 25:07Speaker 2: I do.
- 25:08Speaker 3: I'll play this and we can talk about it more.
- 25:10Speaker 1: Here we go.
- 25:10Speaker 3: This is Hasan Piker responding to the Dan Osborne leak
- 25:13Speaker 3: on his Twitch live stream.
- 25:16Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Oh, my God.
- 25:18Speaker 3: He cooked.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Deep honesty. This is this is terrifying.
- 25:24Speaker 3: Alert the presses.
- 25:25Speaker 7: We have an independent politician out of Nebraska who's saying
- 25:28Speaker 7: the truth. It's not like he's even disparaging them. He's
- 25:32Speaker 7: saying their lives suck.
- 25:33Speaker 1: It's true.
- 25:34Speaker 7: That's why he's running for office to fix the problem.
- 25:39Speaker 3: There we go. You get the point.
- 25:40Speaker 1: Okay. So that was his defense of Dan Osborne saying, well,
- 25:44Speaker 1: why are they mad at this guy for being honest?
- 25:47Speaker 1: And he wants to fix their terrible lives. Trump doesn't
- 25:50Speaker 1: do anything for him. And okay. He, I tell you,
- 25:56Speaker 1: he's not shy, is he? He has called for the
- 25:59Speaker 1: streets to run red with the blood of capitalists. And
- 26:04Speaker 1: you noted his trip to Cuba in March that kind
- 26:07Speaker 1: of raised his profile, I guess. If you're going to
- 26:10Speaker 1: see the glass half full, it raised his profile and
- 26:13Speaker 1: made him more well-known. Well, Chuck's on the line. He
- 26:17Speaker 1: wants to get in on this issue of Islamophobia. Chuck,
- 26:22Speaker 1: welcome to the show.
- 26:24Speaker 5: Yeah, Chip, I'm kind of surprised that you're on the
- 26:27Speaker 5: bandwagon to demonize Muslims.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Demonize Muslims?
- 26:31Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 26:31Speaker 2: Huh?
- 26:33Speaker 1: Well, wait, wait, what do you mean by demonize?
- 26:37Speaker 5: You're talking about these Islamo-fascist radicals? Yes. Yeah, okay. Do
- 26:46Speaker 5: you know any other religions that have had extremists?
- 26:50Speaker 1: Yes, every one that I can think of. Thank you.
- 26:54Speaker 5: Thank you. So when you go around talking about... Using
- 26:59Speaker 5: words like Islamofascism, there are people here in Omaha that
- 27:05Speaker 5: are Muslim, that are afraid, because people like you are
- 27:11Speaker 5: proliferating fear among people that don't understand another religion. I
- 27:17Speaker 5: have two friends that are Muslim.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Okay, hold on, Chuck. I'm going to let you have
- 27:23Speaker 1: your say. We might need to turn the sound down
- 27:25Speaker 1: for just a minute. Chuck, I'm going to let you
- 27:27Speaker 1: have your say, but I need you to acknowledge something
- 27:31Speaker 1: for me first. If a cartoonist wants to make a
- 27:37Speaker 1: cartoon mocking the Pope, boom, he's going to run with it.
- 27:42Speaker 1: If a cartoonist is going to make a cartoon mocking
- 27:46Speaker 1: Allah or mocking Muhammad, he may very well not do that. Why, Chuck?
- 27:51Speaker 1: All right, let's turn the sound back up. You have
- 27:53Speaker 1: the floor, Chuck.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Why?
- 27:57Speaker 5: Why?
- 27:58Speaker 6: Why?
- 28:12Speaker 5: Rhetoric that's being proliferated.
- 28:14Speaker 1: But who has created the environment in which he is
- 28:17Speaker 1: now afraid? See, you didn't answer my question. Why is
- 28:20Speaker 1: it that a cartoonist... Why is it that a cartoonist... See,
- 28:23Speaker 1: you want to say all religions are the same and
- 28:25Speaker 1: they're all equally extreme. They are not.
- 28:27Speaker 5: No, no, no.
- 28:29Speaker 1: In Christianity, the extremism is the minority. In Islam, unfortunately,
- 28:35Speaker 1: it is not just restricted to a minority. There are
- 28:38Speaker 1: people all over the world, cartoonists, who are afraid... to
- 28:41Speaker 1: do anything to mock Islam because they might get killed
- 28:45Speaker 1: for doing it. Is that true or false?
- 28:49Speaker 5: Well, sure, there's some extremist religions.
- 28:52Speaker 1: No, no, no, no, no, no, no. No equivalents, Chuck. No, no, no.
- 28:55Speaker 1: No equivalents. That cartoonist doesn't hesitate for a second to
- 28:58Speaker 1: make fun of Hinduism or Catholicism or any branch of Christianity. But, no,
- 29:04Speaker 1: it's a different ballgame. And why? Because of the threat. Okay? Now, just,
- 29:11Speaker 1: you know, if you want to do the thing about, well,
- 29:12Speaker 1: my friend is this. I have a kid who his
- 29:15Speaker 1: best friend in junior high. was an Islamic kid, a
- 29:19Speaker 1: Muslim kid, at his Catholic school, actually, and he was
- 29:22Speaker 1: welcomed and they were friends. It was no issue. You know,
- 29:24Speaker 1: I understand that there are people that are just trying
- 29:27Speaker 1: to live their lives and do their thing. But if
- 29:30Speaker 1: there's a fear or a dread, you know, in England,
- 29:35Speaker 1: in the UK and other places in the last decade
- 29:37Speaker 1: or two, there have been beheadings in the street. It's
- 29:41Speaker 1: a different ballgame, Chuck. It's not equivalent. I'm sorry, I'm
- 29:45Speaker 1: not going to let you just say, well, all religions
- 29:48Speaker 1: have extremists. That is a true statement. That is a
- 29:52Speaker 1: true statement, but there's a degree of intensity that is
- 29:55Speaker 1: much different in Islam. than in Christianity.
- 29:59Speaker 4: That's not true at all.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Well, you and I are going to have to agree
- 30:01Speaker 1: to disagree on that. But Chuck, you get the last word.
- 30:04Speaker 1: Go ahead.
- 30:05Speaker 5: Well, the Nazis, what religion were the Nazis?
- 30:08Speaker 1: They were no religion.
- 30:10Speaker 4: They were Christian.
- 30:12Speaker 1: Look up Maximilian Kolbe, my friend. Look up the Catholic
- 30:15Speaker 1: priest who was killed, offered himself in the place of
- 30:19Speaker 1: another man in a concentration camp. Look what happened. The
- 30:22Speaker 1: persecution of priests and nuns by the Nazis, they weren't
- 30:27Speaker 1: I mean, there may have been... They were Christians. They
- 30:30Speaker 1: were Christians. You didn't know this? Yeah, Adolf Hitler was
- 30:33Speaker 1: a baptized Catholic. Yeah, I know, but Chuck, did they
- 30:38Speaker 1: practice it? You didn't know this?
- 30:39Speaker 5: They were Lutherans. You didn't know this?
- 30:41Speaker 1: Chuck, did they practice it, though? That's what I'm asking you.
- 30:44Speaker 1: Of course I know it. Everybody knows what they claimed,
- 30:47Speaker 1: and they killed priests and nuns, including Protestant leaders also
- 30:52Speaker 1: were persecuted and killed.
- 30:54Speaker 4: Jews.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:57Speaker 5: Yes. Are there Jewish extremists, do you think?
- 31:00Speaker 3: Yes.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Yes. You think so? I do. Wow.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Okay.
- 31:04Speaker 1: Let's demonize them. But not Benjamin Netanyahu. Let's do that.
- 31:12Speaker 1: How about the people who came in on the paragliders
- 31:14Speaker 1: on October 7th and slaughtered kids at a concert? And
- 31:19Speaker 1: they're considered heroes.
- 31:22Speaker 5: The United States just slaughtered a bunch of Iranian children
- 31:27Speaker 5: in a school.
- 31:29Speaker 1: Because the IRGC put a plant next to a school
- 31:33Speaker 1: to use it as a human shield. Yes, that's unfortunate.
- 31:37Speaker 1: But we don't target those civilians.
- 31:40Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 31:40Speaker 1: The October 7th targeted the civilians at the concert for
- 31:45Speaker 1: maximum terror. That's a different ballgame, Chuck.
- 31:49Speaker 5: It happens, yeah. There are extremist religion groups, religious groups.
- 31:53Speaker 5: That doesn't mean all the religion, all the people that
- 31:56Speaker 5: practice that religion are bad.
- 31:57Speaker 1: That's my point. We can agree on that point. Listen, Chuck,
- 32:01Speaker 1: thank you for the call. And by the way, I
- 32:03Speaker 1: do thank Chuck for the call. All viewpoints are welcome.
- 32:06Speaker 1: I actually think it's good for the audience to hear
- 32:09Speaker 1: people joust a little, throw a few jabs back and forth,
- 32:12Speaker 1: and then you ultimately run it through your filter and
- 32:14Speaker 1: decide where you are. That was fun, actually. Do we
- 32:19Speaker 1: need to take our next break, Peyton? Let's do another
- 32:23Speaker 1: Monday bumper. Oh, we'll let Fats Waller take us to
- 32:28Speaker 1: the break. Actually, I love the blues. I know it's
- 32:32Speaker 1: called the blues. I think it's fun. It kind of
- 32:35Speaker 1: puts a little pep in your step, a little giddy-up
- 32:39Speaker 1: in your step. A couple more Monday bumpers. Gosh, we're
- 32:42Speaker 1: already coming up on the final segment. Hey, if you disagree, 402-558-1110.
- 32:46Speaker 1: Comment at kfab.com or the talkback mic on iHeart. The
- 32:52Speaker 1: iHeartRadio app. Chip Maxwell in for Gene Stothert. Peyton's at
- 32:55Speaker 1: the controls on NewsRadio 1110 KFAB. Sometimes it just turns
- 32:59Speaker 1: out that way, huh? Chip Maxwell in for Gene Stothert.
- 33:02Speaker 1: The girl on fire is out this week. She'll be
- 33:04Speaker 1: back next week. She'll be at this mic a week
- 33:06Speaker 1: from today. Producer Peyton Heilig, of course, is at the
- 33:09Speaker 1: controls on the KFAB comment line on NewsRadio 1110 KFAB.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Before we sign off, I'll run through the lineup of
- 33:18Speaker 1: guest hosts this week. I'm bookending it for you. This week,
- 33:24Speaker 1: Monday and Friday, and a cavalcade of stars in between Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
- 33:30Speaker 3: 402-558-1110.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Gosh, see what we can squeeze in here in the
- 33:35Speaker 1: final minutes. Comment at kfab.com or the Talkback mic on
- 33:39Speaker 1: the iHeartRadio app. We had a couple of emails, Peyton,
- 33:44Speaker 1: to catch up with.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Yes, I did.
- 33:46Speaker 3: I have a few ones. Here I have one about
- 33:48Speaker 3: the ICE event in Austin, the ICE shooting, and then
- 33:52Speaker 3: I also had an email here in response to our
- 33:54Speaker 3: caller Chuck. This comes from Pat. He is trying to
- 33:59Speaker 3: use the old, quote, equivalency fallacy, end of quote. What
- 34:03Speaker 3: a tool.
- 34:04Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I was saying. Chuck, yes, all religions
- 34:07Speaker 1: have some extremist elements, but my argument was the degree
- 34:12Speaker 1: of intensity is much stronger and broader in Islam. Islam,
- 34:17Speaker 1: that's why cartoonists fear for their lives if they go
- 34:20Speaker 1: after it. But all viewpoints are welcome. What was the
- 34:24Speaker 1: other email?
- 34:25Speaker 3: This one comes from Adam. It says, good morning, Chip.
- 34:27Speaker 3: Love your program. Am I the only one to notice
- 34:30Speaker 3: that these ICE shootings only occur in sanctuary cities? The
- 34:35Speaker 3: illegals seem to be emboldened. by politicians who say they
- 34:39Speaker 3: will protect the lawbreakers.
- 34:42Speaker 1: Yeah, well, Minneapolis, of course, and Houston is a blue
- 34:48Speaker 1: city where a few months ago something happened. The two
- 34:51Speaker 1: people who were killed, that was in Minneapolis, the two
- 34:54Speaker 1: American citizens who were killed. And yes, in fact, you know,
- 34:59Speaker 1: we learned in Minneapolis there was this whole, it's like
- 35:02Speaker 1: a paramilitary organization set up. uh, with communications equipment and
- 35:07Speaker 1: logistical support and so forth, you know, uh, you, Hey,
- 35:11Speaker 1: get to this part of the city. There's a nice
- 35:13Speaker 1: operation going on, you know, dispatching people and sending them
- 35:15Speaker 1: around and coordinating activities. Just, just looking for fights, looking
- 35:19Speaker 1: for problems, looking to, to create sparks. And, uh, yeah,
- 35:24Speaker 1: there's no secret that happens in sanctuary cities in blue cities.
- 35:28Speaker 1: That's what I think. I think the public's kind of
- 35:29Speaker 1: exhausted with this. I could be wrong. We'll see. Um,
- 35:34Speaker 1: Dale's been waiting patiently on the line. Let's find out
- 35:36Speaker 1: what's on his mind. Dale, welcome to the show.
- 35:40Speaker 6: Hey, great show today. Thank you for taking my call.
- 35:42Speaker 1: You're welcome.
- 35:43Speaker 6: I just want to clarify something. I know how Scott
- 35:46Speaker 6: is such a professional, and he wants to make sure
- 35:48Speaker 6: everything is proper and the things that comes out of
- 35:50Speaker 6: his mouth.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Okay.
- 35:51Speaker 6: So I just wanted to clarify that tomorrow, not today,
- 35:56Speaker 6: but tomorrow is the first day of fall.
- 35:59Speaker 3: Oh, is that right?
- 35:59Speaker 6: So I just wanted to clarify that. I know that
- 36:01Speaker 6: Scott is probably just beside himself. getting that wrong, but
- 36:06Speaker 6: I just hope that he can get through it. And again,
- 36:09Speaker 6: thank you for taking my call and a great show.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Thank you, Dale. You're welcome. Thank you. I love KFAB Nation. Well,
- 36:18Speaker 1: Scott Voorhees will have to pick up the pieces of
- 36:21Speaker 1: his shattered life and somehow move on. I would have
- 36:24Speaker 1: guessed– I always thought the 21st also was the autumnal equinox.
- 36:29Speaker 1: But I'm just punching into my magic device here, my phone.
- 36:33Speaker 1: I guess tomorrow officially is the first day of fall.
- 36:38Speaker 1: And so thank you, Dale. We want the record correct.
- 36:42Speaker 1: here on NewsRadio 1110 KFAB. So I got a little
- 36:46Speaker 1: feisty with Chuck. I don't want to dissuade others who
- 36:49Speaker 1: might have different views, but I agree with the emailer
- 36:55Speaker 1: who said, no, that's a false equivalence to say, yeah, well,
- 36:59Speaker 1: all religions have extremists. Yeah, but who's the world afraid
- 37:06Speaker 1: of right now, you know? And so, no, you can't
- 37:10Speaker 1: demonize everybody who practices a certain religion because of what
- 37:15Speaker 1: the extremists do. But when the extremism becomes, manifests itself
- 37:25Speaker 1: and becomes more and more aggressive, well, then you get
- 37:28Speaker 1: movies like Run, Hide, Fight, Infidels, I guess, pushing back
- 37:33Speaker 1: against it. 402-558-1110, comment at kfab.com. Talk Back Mike on
- 37:40Speaker 1: the iHeartRadio app. Is this Ivan or Yvonne? Ivan. Ivan. Ivan,
- 37:46Speaker 1: welcome to the show.
- 37:49Speaker 8: Thank you, gentlemen. I just had a comment about the
- 37:52Speaker 8: gentleman that called in and said you were vilifying religions
- 37:57Speaker 8: based on their whatever, and there was a gentleman scared
- 38:00Speaker 8: in Omaha.
- 38:01Speaker 9: I just want to point out that you're making that
- 38:03Speaker 9: observation based on their actions, not their words. And so
- 38:09Speaker 9: when he spread that blanket across all of the religions,
- 38:13Speaker 9: and you clearly pointed out, it's based on their actions
- 38:17Speaker 9: with the cartoonists, et cetera, et cetera.
- 38:19Speaker 6: But that was my point.
- 38:20Speaker 9: He just couldn't accept it, I don't believe.
- 38:24Speaker 1: All right. Well, Ivan, thank you for your call.
- 38:26Speaker 5: 402-558.
- 38:26Speaker 1: We can squeeze in another one or two here. 558-1110.
- 38:30Speaker 3: I got an email real quick on the back of
- 38:32Speaker 3: that before you respond, Chip.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:36Speaker 3: And there's a more email to it. Muslims take even
- 38:41Speaker 3: the most modest slight as hate because they come from
- 38:45Speaker 3: a tyrannical background where freedom of speech was or is
- 38:48Speaker 3: not tolerated. What you should clarify is call them Islamists
- 38:53Speaker 3: as that is a political ideology, not religion.
- 38:57Speaker 1: All right, boy, we got some action. This is truly
- 39:00Speaker 1: the KFAB comment line today. I'm loving this. I wonder,
- 39:03Speaker 1: one of the emailers you said was named Adam, right?
- 39:06Speaker 1: I wonder if that was Adam the carpenter.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Indeed.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Oh, is that right? Correct.
- 39:11Speaker 2: Oh, is it?
- 39:12Speaker 1: Adam the carpenter.
