- 0:24All right, so God bless you guys today we're going to read a few
- 0:28like, you know, chapters, But before we start, obviously we
- 0:32we're going to begin with the prayer.
- 0:35So once we start, we pray. I don't mind starting.
- 0:41I'll start. Thank you, father, for just
- 0:44allowing us to be here. Guide us, control what you will
- 0:50teach us today, O Lord, and protect us, O Heavenly Father,
- 0:53and guard, guard our hearts and lead us to the absolute truth,
- 0:58for you are the one true living God.
- 1:01Amen. All right, so I remember last
- 1:04time we talked about like those shapes, what God like, you know,
- 1:08like has shown us. But today we're going to go over
- 1:13some chapters within the book of Luke.
- 1:16So first chapter that we're going to read is Luke 12, verses
- 1:2341 to 48. All right.
- 1:26So I mean, I don't know. I mean, I have the CSB.
- 1:29What do you guys have? Like the ESB, the ESBES.
- 1:33B. I have the Nas.
- 1:34Oh, the Nas, Yeah. So I have the CSB is does
- 1:37anybody want to read chapter 12 verse 41 Luke?
- 1:431241, yeah. 41 to what? 41 all the way to 48.
- 1:50Peter said, Lord, are you telling this parable for us, for
- 1:54all? And the Lord said, Who then is
- 1:56the faithful and wise manager whom his master will set over
- 2:00his household to give them their portion of food at the proper
- 2:05time? Blessed is the servant whom his
- 2:07master will find so doing when he comes.
- 2:10Truly, I say to you, he will set him over his possessions.
- 2:15But if that servant says to himself, My master is delayed in
- 2:18coming, and begins to beat the male and female servants, and to
- 2:23eat and drink and get drunk, the master of the servant will come
- 2:27of the day when he does not expect him, and at the hour he
- 2:30does not know, and will cut him in pieces and put him with the
- 2:35unfaithful. And the servant who knew his
- 2:38master will but did not get ready or act according to his
- 2:42will, will receive a severe beating.
- 2:45But the one who did not know and did what deserved a beating will
- 2:50receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given,
- 2:56of him much will be required, and from him to whom they
- 3:00entrusted much they will demand them more.
- 3:04So, OK, So what is like maybe like one thing that I stuck out
- 3:07with just this chapter itself like that that those verses.
- 3:11I think that, well, I don't think, but what Christ is
- 3:16talking about here is He's pretty much giving us, giving
- 3:23everybody some form of stewardship administration in
- 3:28regards to whatever is given in life or in your life, that being
- 3:32wisdom or God is entrusting something in your hands.
- 3:37If you do not administrate that well and you take his return
- 3:40very lightly and you're just like, oh, well, you know, seems
- 3:44like still needs more time or it's a sort of a, a form of
- 3:48fulfillment for, for, for him to come back.
- 3:52So that's when you start to like, all right, well, he's not
- 3:54coming right now. So, so he kind of gives like 4
- 3:57examples of of the people, how they stewardship their their
- 4:03business for God, if you will, you know what I'm saying?
- 4:07Absolutely. Yeah.
- 4:07That that's how I see I see that he's giving them, letting them
- 4:11know that there is a accountability for that what you
- 4:16were given the requirement for that and that what is entrusted
- 4:20unto you and what is expected of right versus the one who didn't
- 4:24know still received the light beating.
- 4:26Anyways, that's what he was saying there.
- 4:29So it seems like he is giving the believers he's referring to
- 4:34the believers here. I don't think he's referring to
- 4:35anybody who doesn't believe in him.
- 4:37A form of you're still going to have the blessing of being
- 4:44giving the chance to enter into his courts, right.
- 4:48If you think of it in in the form of of, of kingship.
- 4:52But because of that also there comes a sense of a righteous
- 4:56king giving righteous judgement and fairness.
- 5:01From what I see that's there's no other way to read this.
- 5:07Oh yeah, absolutely. I totally agree with you.
- 5:10And I mean, we're going to read another chapter.
- 5:15I will not. It's in the same chapter
- 5:16actually, but a few verses after that.
- 5:19But like before we we read that, I would like to know like maybe
- 5:22like what do you think about about this?
- 5:27I find it interesting that when he said and that servant who
- 5:35knew his master will masters will but did not get ready or
- 5:39act according to his will will severe will receive a severe
- 5:43beating but the one who did did not know and did what deserves a
- 5:48beating will receive a light beating.
- 5:49Like back to what he was saying, Like everyone's going to be held
- 5:52accountable no matter what, right?
- 5:54Right. Like even if you didn't know, I
- 5:57guess there was something deep inside of you where you knew.
- 5:59Oh, that's why. It's a good way to put it, yeah.
- 6:02Held accountable no matter what. Absolutely.
- 6:04So like basically what you're saying is like you knew what
- 6:06good was but you did not do anything.
- 6:08Even if maybe you didn't know about like like maybe if on
- 6:13paper then look like to everyone you should have known.
- 6:16But deep inside, everyone knows what good is and what what it
- 6:20what you have to do to cause good.
- 6:22Right. So like a question too, like, so
- 6:25like for the, let's say the people in church, they read
- 6:28about these things, but they gloss over it.
- 6:31You think the the accountability and the punishment will be a lot
- 6:33worse on those that like, for example, like a person that just
- 6:37goes on Sunday church and then they go and gloss over this.
- 6:40Do you think their punishment will be a lot worse it?
- 6:44Definitely compounds. So to what he was saying, one
- 6:49would think like, oh, well, and what's the point?
- 6:52I mean, if this is going to happen, then what's the point of
- 6:54salvation? I don't think that's what he's
- 6:56talking about here. Salvation is he's already
- 6:59offering salvation. It's in, in regards to his
- 7:03business. What business is that in which
- 7:06he's he's giving to you and he's entrusting into your hands that
- 7:10you wield it improperly? That's nothing in regards to
- 7:14salvation. Salvation is already a hand.
- 7:17Like I said, you go into the courts, but now the king has to
- 7:20judge like a righteous. Just think of it this way.
- 7:23If this is God's Kingdom, right, he's going to judge his Kingdom
- 7:28first before he then judges the other kingdoms that deserve
- 7:31judgement. He will then judge.
- 7:33He's going to judge his household Kingdom.
- 7:36If you will then go after the other ones and judge them
- 7:39because they will have nothing to say, right?
- 7:42So even his children are kept accountable to what he was
- 7:46saying. Even to the one who didn't know
- 7:50he's he's going to keep him accountable too, because how
- 7:53much can you not know? That's true?
- 7:57You know what I mean? There's a level of you do know.
- 8:00It's like what? Some level.
- 8:01Right. Yeah, right.
- 8:02It's like James said, if you know the good thing to do and
- 8:04you don't do it, to you it is a sin, right?
- 8:06Right. Absolutely.
- 8:07James says that in chapter 4. The last verse of chapter 4.
- 8:11Yeah. Absolutely.
- 8:12You know what I mean? So.
- 8:17Yes, So what you guys are implying is yes, the punishment.
- 8:20Well I was implying yes the punishment is worse for one who
- 8:24already knew, but they still did it and they still did wrong
- 8:27anyway, right? Absolutely.
- 8:30It makes sense why the punishment would be worse for
- 8:34those who who knew because you knew what you just refused.
- 8:39Right, right. No, absolutely.
- 8:41You disobeyed. Essentially, you you disobeyed
- 8:44knowing it was wrong, but I feel like we've all been there at
- 8:48some point. We've disobeyed in some form.
- 8:50No, absolutely we have. I mean, there are moments where
- 8:54like, I know it's good, but I don't do it.
- 8:58You know, I think there's just moments where you, I think you
- 9:02think something sounds very good in the moment, but then you, you
- 9:05do it, but then it doesn't bring anything good afterwards.
- 9:10So you're saying like misinterpretation?
- 9:12Sometimes it can be misinterpretation.
- 9:14Yeah, right, right. Sometimes.
- 9:16OK, no. Interesting.
- 9:17Very interesting. All right, so let's move on to
- 9:21verses 57 to 59. All right, I can read it, but if
- 9:27anybody else wants to read it, I don't mind either.
- 9:31Which one? Luke, we're still in the same
- 9:33chapter. So Luke 1257 to 59.
- 9:36OK, I. Can read it.
- 9:39OK, so it says on 57 verse 57. And why do you not even judge by
- 9:46yourselves what is right for when you were going with your
- 9:50accuser to appear before the magistrate on the way, make an
- 9:56effort to settle with him so that he does not drag you before
- 10:00the judge and the judge hand you over to the officer and the
- 10:05officer throw you into prison. I tell you, you will not get out
- 10:10of there until you have paid the very last leptin.
- 10:15Leptin and other translation would probably say penny or some
- 10:19form of transaction there. Right.
- 10:24No, you know, that verse, when I read it, you know, actually, and
- 10:29I shared it with you, you know, it was, we were like shocked,
- 10:34you know, actually I was, I was, you know, sitting down today and
- 10:37I was like, oh, wow, paid the last penny.
- 10:42Very interesting. Like would you say like like
- 10:47this is some form of purgatory or it's not?
- 10:53I mean you, I mean cause essentially purgatory, if I
- 10:57could be wrong here, and this is again, this is based on the
- 11:01knowledge I know based on other people who, who, who know about
- 11:04Catholicism. Purgatory is for the believer
- 11:08apparently in the in the doctrine of the the Catholic or
- 11:13it's for the believer who who didn't meet, who pretty much
- 11:17didn't go undergo his consequence of his decisions
- 11:21here in the temporal reality that when it dies, it continues
- 11:26that form of consequence and purgatory.
- 11:31Do you know what I mean? But that's not what it's saying
- 11:35here, right, right, right. So the person did he did settle.
- 11:43It's it sounds like purgatory. I mean, you could probably
- 11:46conclude that it is, but it's it's not.
- 11:47He's not saying that because you still have salvation.
- 11:52Apparently you have to settle with the he would he would have
- 11:56to settle with him. He's referring to himself here
- 11:59or some translation says adversary, which is Christ who
- 12:03would then you settle with him so that the Dutch doesn't grab
- 12:06you in and throw you away. Rather it just the judge will
- 12:09just pass you to the officer and the officer takes you to prison
- 12:12and you pay until you pay the last penny.
- 12:15I don't think that's anything to do with purgatory because, I
- 12:19mean, you believed, you settled everything with him, but you
- 12:26have to still, you know, pay the last penny, whatever.
- 12:33It sounds like purgatory. I'm not.
- 12:34I'm not denying that. I'm not denying that because I'm
- 12:39not. But yeah, yeah.
- 12:44Now, because The thing is now I'm just, I'm kind of thrown off
- 12:46now that now you guys are bringing the term purgatory into
- 12:49this. So why, how did how did that
- 12:51come across here? I'm just curious now.
- 12:54Because if you read this, it's. He's implying here that that
- 12:58settle, settle, settle all your efforts with your adversary
- 13:03crisis picked. He's depicting himself here as
- 13:06the adversary because to the world Christ is an enemy to the
- 13:10world. OK, right.
- 13:12Or in other what does your translation say?
- 13:15Well, let me let me look, I guess.
- 13:20Yes, accuser. So in my translation, as
- 13:24accuser, his says yeah, I read mine.
- 13:30Yeah, go for. It because I think mine is.
- 13:34I believe it's the it's the NIV version, yeah.
- 13:37OK, yeah, go for it. Read it.
- 13:38Yeah, I'll just read it and see how it interprets here.
- 13:41So why don't you judge for yourselves what is right as you
- 13:45are going with your advice Adversary to the to make to the
- 13:49mega St. Yeah, try hard to be reconciled
- 13:53on the way or your adversary may be may drag you off to the judge
- 13:59and the judge turn you over to the officer and the officer
- 14:04throws you into prison. I tell you, you will not get out
- 14:08until you have paid the last penny.
- 14:10So adversary is mine, right? Who's the adversary?
- 14:14Who's the adversary? Well, that would be us
- 14:19essentially, right? No, no, how, how?
- 14:23How can the adverse adversary? Adversary.
- 14:26Yeah. Yeah, have that, that amount of
- 14:29power. You, you're the one who have to
- 14:31settle with the adversary. We have to settle with them.
- 14:34Who is that adversary? Oh, OK, now you get.
- 14:36OK, now I see. It's it's he's not talking about
- 14:39the enemy here. Yeah.
- 14:40He's talking about himself because the world sees him as
- 14:44the adversary. OK, yeah, 'cause you know, this,
- 14:47this section kind of just threw me off, you know, just just
- 14:51'cause you know, you guys mentioned the purgatory thing
- 14:53and then no purgatory the. Purgatory essentially is when
- 14:56you die, you didn't meet your quota, if you will, of your
- 15:00consequences. So you attention would be they
- 15:04call it limbo, border edge. Limbo is what limbus Latin word
- 15:10and they call it limbo, right? And so it's basically a this is
- 15:15their thought. I could be wrong, but if from
- 15:17what I've heard from several people who are well known in the
- 15:21in the Catholic apologetics, this is how they speak about it,
- 15:26that purgatory is a place that you didn't meet your quota of of
- 15:29your consequences, you're still saved.
- 15:31This only pertains to the believer.
- 15:32This is not, does not does not pertain to the unbeliever.
- 15:36You didn't meet your quota of your consequence.
- 15:38You then go over there and finish it.
- 15:39However, he's talking about this in a terminology in the moment
- 15:44of judging, meaning the last day of judgement seems like that
- 15:49it's a. He's painting a picture of us
- 15:52assimilating when we're getting where we all get judged on the
- 15:56because it's a. Great day, right, Because I know
- 15:58some like some people in the Catholic faith that's.
- 16:01The only thing that throws me off like it, it, it sort of
- 16:03paints the concept of, but he's saying the judge and the
- 16:10adversary is here and then the officer is here.
- 16:14That can only occur in in such a place when you're being judged,
- 16:19when the books are open and the book of life is open, right?
- 16:22Remember what he says and the revelations.
- 16:25Let the filthy be filthy. Let the righteous be righteous.
- 16:27Let the Holy 1 be holier and my recompense is mine to give them
- 16:31my reward to them according to their deeds, correct?
- 16:36So I don't know if that's where you were going.
- 16:38To go. No, actually, that was the last
- 16:40chapter that we're going to read.
- 16:41But I'm glad you mentioned that, though.
- 16:43Yeah, I'm just, I'm just saying like, do you think this might
- 16:46have been something to do with purgatory?
- 16:47I'm not saying it is. And the way, you know, our
- 16:50brother Oscar just put it right now, actually, like, remember,
- 16:55because this is in the same chapter, remember, like all the
- 16:58chapters correlate with each other.
- 17:00And in that same chapter, he says much more is given to you,
- 17:03much more is required of you. Yeah, I remember.
- 17:06So talking about. So you know what I'm saying?
- 17:07So like that means that that the consequences, let's say if God
- 17:10puts you at a high stand, you know, he sees you.
- 17:13And then and then afterwards, like you decide to be on the
- 17:16servant, like he talks about. And then you start like, I guess
- 17:19he's talked about like, you know, getting drunk, all these
- 17:21things. Like you start falling apart,
- 17:22then the consequences will be much greater on.
- 17:26You right, but I was going to say about the purgatory thing
- 17:28yes so some people I know within the Catholic faith, you know
- 17:32they say that essentially yeah, I guess it was it was kind of
- 17:35like the way Oscar was describing it in a sense when he
- 17:38heard from his I guess people he knows that are Catholic.
- 17:42But I guess the way people I have mentioned it is essentially
- 17:46it's a place where essentially you go for you, you pay your
- 17:50unpaid sins and unpaid deeds. And then essentially you're
- 17:54going to go through, you're going to go through temporary
- 17:57torment and suffering and pain. But they said the pain, they
- 18:01said the pain in purgatory is what cleanses you down there.
- 18:04But I thought your cleansing is done up here.
- 18:08Again, the purgatory they they actually take that from First
- 18:13Corinthians chapter 3 and so on. If you want to read but key
- 18:17point he made here. This is judgment according to
- 18:20what you were given and what was entrusted in your hands.
- 18:23If you read this is that judgment is in what in regards
- 18:28to how you stewardship his his business.
- 18:31His business means like his things, God's kings to his
- 18:36things. He's not referring to to to your
- 18:39sinful nature. He's referring to what that much
- 18:43for example, the more wisdom, the more you get to know, you
- 18:48start to have more responsibility for knowing that
- 18:51information versus someone who maybe not know that information
- 18:54and could pretty much continue living his life without knowing
- 18:57that information. But because you know it much
- 19:00more deeper. That is a responsibility upon
- 19:04you that He is given that it is is required for you and expected
- 19:10of you to stewardship that properly did you.
- 19:13Read 58 what it says to you. Again and put my glasses on was
- 19:1858 for when you were going to the accuser to appear before the
- 19:27magistrate on the way, make an effort to settle with him.
- 19:39Wait, so when it's saying when you go before the accuser,
- 19:43before the magistrate, right? Now the accuser is that is that
- 19:49someone who's accusing you, like in that instance, right.
- 19:52It's someone who's accusing you and you're appearing before the
- 19:55magistrate. Magistrate's God, right?
- 19:59Yeah, the judge, the judge, right.
- 20:00But that sounds like that the cute when you go before your
- 20:03accuser, I kind of took it as like, like your accuser, someone
- 20:08who has a problem with you. Like you have to settle that
- 20:12out. Like, like if you were to ignore
- 20:15that, like someone who has a problem with you, you don't know
- 20:17that's not my, that's not my issue.
- 20:19Like forget about them. You should ignore them.
- 20:21Well, you're still going to pay it up eventually.
- 20:24That's the way I took it. Like, don't put aside the
- 20:26problems you have with someone, even if they're accusing you for
- 20:28something that's. Deep so you're just you're just
- 20:36going so the the way you're describing is he's deeper now
- 20:40you know what I'm saying yeah, that's the way I took it it's so
- 20:42much more deeper now yeah. And so explain one more time.
- 20:47So so. He says, he says, my version
- 20:50says as you go with the accuser before the magistrate, so as you
- 20:55go before the person accusing you before God, the magistrate,
- 20:59it says make an effort to settle with him on the way, lest he
- 21:04drag you to the judge and the judge hand you over to the
- 21:07officer and officer put you in prison.
- 21:09I tell you, you will never get out until you pay the very last
- 21:13penny. So you're basically saying it's
- 21:18interesting the way it's put there.
- 21:19Like, so basically what you're saying is like an adversary is
- 21:23going to be against you in that court and you have to present
- 21:26yourself to prove right. Now, I know that there is a
- 21:29scripture that says my people perish because of lack of
- 21:32wisdom. Does that have something to do
- 21:34with that verse? Well, if if my people perish
- 21:40because of lack of wisdom, that's where he's talking about
- 21:44what? What's given to you, wisdom
- 21:47essentially is given to you. That's knowledge from above
- 21:51heaven. So that knowledge that you have
- 21:55and do not stewardship that properly in your life and to
- 21:57others, whose responsibility, who does that fall on to?
- 22:02Is it to the one who didn't know or the one who knew?
- 22:06Yeah, 100% right. Because it's like saying like,
- 22:09it's like saying God gives you this existential amount of
- 22:12wisdom and just like you don't care and you don't want to share
- 22:18it, you don't want. And that's what it, that's what
- 22:21I'm saying when it says like, as you go along with your accuser,
- 22:25it's like you're a child of God. You should know how to settle
- 22:28this, and yet you're not settling it.
- 22:30So if you let it be, you're going to pay for it eventually.
- 22:33Yeah. And that's again that is that it
- 22:37might, it might be depicted as purgatory, but again, the way
- 22:41they see purgatory or the way their doctrine is over here
- 22:44seems to be that something that you get add towards the end of
- 22:49all form of judgment, right, Because otherwise then Christ
- 22:55then says, you know, let the ones who are filthy are filthy,
- 22:58righteous or righteous. I will I will reward them
- 23:01according to their deeds. Now this has personally, it does
- 23:08not paint anything here to do with salvation.
- 23:11He's talking to the believers, people who don't stewardship
- 23:16God's business properly, the ones who, well, he's not coming
- 23:20yet. So I have time like that.
- 23:24What He was just saying you need to settle this.
- 23:27Oh, well, you know, he's not. He's not around the corner yet
- 23:31when he literally said no one knows the hour, no one knows
- 23:34when I'm coming, not even the Son of Man.
- 23:37But that's up for debate. You know, the Son of Man?
- 23:41Jesus. Yeah.
- 23:42In that moment. In that moment, yeah.
- 23:44Yeah, yeah, in that moment. Correct.
- 23:47Yeah, absolutely. So, Brian, explain that one more
- 23:50time what Wilmer was talking about in regards to the the
- 23:54magistrate. Oh, I know your translation says
- 23:56it. Different, oh I mean my says why
- 23:58don't you judge for yourselves what is right as you are going
- 24:01with your adversary to the ruler, make an effort to settle
- 24:04with him on the way. Then he won't drag you before
- 24:07the judge, the judge hand you over to the bailiff and the
- 24:11bailiff throw you into prison. I tell you, you will never get
- 24:14out of there until you have paid the last penny.
- 24:17So always a question like that. It's for.
- 24:20The listeners, oh for the listeners what he was reading.
- 24:24About Oh yeah, no, he, he's basically saying like this is
- 24:28what this is, right guy, I might, I might have misheard
- 24:29you, but like, like when you're, when you're battling against
- 24:33that adversary, you're in front of the judge and you have to
- 24:35like present yourself approved basically so you won't be thrown
- 24:38into that prison. So essentially you won't have to
- 24:41pay that last penny that what he talks about is that what you're
- 24:44saying right. I'm.
- 24:44Pretty much saying that like, you're supposed to present
- 24:48yourself accordingly, right? Right.
- 24:50Like, not just like something presents itself, just turn away,
- 24:54right, Even though that, yeah, settle it, settle it, yeah,
- 24:57settle it and right, do what you got to do in that situation.
- 25:00No, absolutely, absolutely. And you know what, we're going
- 25:03to move on to to the next chapter because this has this is
- 25:09actually Luke 16. And it talks about how the
- 25:11master gives to the servants. And then when one of that
- 25:16servant doesn't come back with anything, he literally says, do
- 25:19you not know that I'm like a really tough like ruler, You
- 25:24know what I mean? So we're going to have to read
- 25:25that. Now.
- 25:26Are we heading now Luke 16? And we're going to read verse 1
- 25:33all the way to 13. So if you want, I can read this
- 25:37no problems. It says now, he said to the
- 25:40disciples. There was a rich man who
- 25:42received an accusation that his manager was squandering right
- 25:51his possessions. So he called the manager and
- 25:53asked, What is this I hear about you give an account of your
- 25:56manager because you can no longer be my manager.
- 25:59Then the manager said to himself, what will I do since my
- 26:02master is taking the manager away from me?
- 26:05I'm not strong enough to dig. I'm ashamed to beg.
- 26:07I know what I'll do so that when I'm removed from the management,
- 26:13people will welcome me into their homes.
- 26:15So he summoned each one of the masters debtors.
- 26:18How much do I owe? Do I owe my master?
- 26:21He asked the first one 100 measures of olive.
- 26:24He said take your invoice. He told him.
- 26:27Sit down quickly and write 50. Next he said he asked another
- 26:32how much do I owe 100 measures of wheat?
- 26:35He said, take your invoice, he told him, and write 80 The
- 26:40Master praised the unrighteous manager because he acted
- 26:44shrewdly right for the children of this age, for more shrewd
- 26:49than the children of light in dealing with their own people.
- 26:52And I tell you, make friends of yourselves by means of worldly
- 26:56wealth, so that when it fails they may welcome you into
- 27:00eternal dwelling. Whoever is faithful and very
- 27:03little also is faithful and much, and whoever is unrighteous
- 27:06and very little is also unrighteous and and much.
- 27:11So if you have not been faithful with worldly wealth, who will
- 27:15trust you with what is genuine? And if you have not been
- 27:19faithful with what belongs to someone else, who will give you
- 27:23what is your own? No servant can serve 2 masters,
- 27:26since either he will hate 1 and love the other, or he will be he
- 27:31will be devoted to 1 despise the other.
- 27:35You cannot serve both God and money.
- 27:40Sorry, guys. I said it was the, the, the the
- 27:44guy that gives the the talents. Yeah, yeah, my bad.
- 27:47Yeah. But you know what?
- 27:48Actually like, No, no, I meant to read that.
- 27:51But you know what? I'm glad we read this one.
- 27:52Now. What do you guys think about
- 27:54this one? Or maybe how it can kind of
- 27:56correlate to to what we read before?
- 27:59I think he says it's super straightforward, honestly, right
- 28:04at the end. You can't love God and money.
- 28:13You know, Brian and I were just talking about that like, you
- 28:16know, we were before we even started this this session.
- 28:20You know, we're talking about, you know, how I'm looking into
- 28:23a, you know, I am in the process of a potential career change.
- 28:26But. But that's not the point.
- 28:28The point is, yeah, it's like it's about money here.
- 28:31So yeah, money. I think I was talking and hit
- 28:35Brian saying, I don't know. I mean, I think money is just,
- 28:38it can be evil if you let it control you.
- 28:41It doesn't matter who you are. You could be a believer, non
- 28:45believer, definitely worse if you're a believer.
- 28:51And you know, if you, I feel like there are definitely plenty
- 28:56of people in the faith who have been controlled over money and
- 28:59still are. I don't know, maybe it's a topic
- 29:03that's not talked about enough. I feel control and the and the
- 29:06lust for money. I don't know if you guys agree.
- 29:11Yeah, it's a topic that I feel like is not talked about a lot.
- 29:13Whoever. Wants to go.
- 29:17What do I think about money? I mean.
- 29:18You anybody can say anything I guess about the like, about me
- 29:21saying I feel. Like it's a topic that's not
- 29:25talked about. Enough.
- 29:26Yeah, for sure. And like something I feel like I
- 29:29just noticed about money reading this parable was how in the
- 29:35beginning it doesn't even say that he was actually stealing.
- 29:39It just says he was accused and the guy happened to also be it
- 29:46seems like handicapped or something.
- 29:47He said I can't dig. And for he said something else
- 29:50he can't do pretty much you can't work.
- 29:52So he, we don't really know if he actually did what he was
- 29:56being accused of, but what we do know is in the moment he freaked
- 30:00out, they didn't have faith in God that he would be OK.
- 30:03And he acted on on his own and started actually acting
- 30:06unfaithful. So like, even like in those time
- 30:10crunch situations, the money can get to you.
- 30:15So if I, if I might add on that aches the fact that you said
- 30:20that that's true because reading it, I was like, interesting
- 30:23preachers have painted it a different a different way.
- 30:26But when you read it, it's entirely different from what
- 30:28they how they preach it. It's true because he knows
- 30:33obviously when you find your moment of desperation, dude, you
- 30:38make some wrong decisions and that they end up being somewhat
- 30:43wicked along the way. And then you can't even go back
- 30:47from that And you don't even you succumb to it.
- 30:50You don't even like then you recognize, you recognize it, but
- 30:54it's almost like, well, it had to be done kind of thing, right?
- 30:58You know exactly what I'm talking about, right?
- 31:00And and then you don't even repent from it or even recognize
- 31:04the God. I'm so sorry.
- 31:06Just it went over your head. Yeah, it's just like literally
- 31:09went over your head when the essentially the smartest thing
- 31:13that should have happened is I'm stopped.
- 31:17I'm just going to let God take this and whatever happens
- 31:21happens and let the true faith really rule over and that's
- 31:28funny that you said that he because he freaked out because
- 31:32of that, it made him unfaithful that.
- 31:35And he started stealing. And he started stealing because
- 31:37of that. We.
- 31:37Don't really know if he was stealing before, that's the
- 31:40crazy part. That's it.
- 31:41So it shows that of the desperation of the unbelief,
- 31:45what you start to do on your own means rather than trusting in
- 31:48God to think straight and do things.
- 31:52This blew my mind that that does correlate until we were just
- 31:57reading because that's that guy literally didn't he didn't
- 32:01administrate his thoughts properly.
- 32:04He's like, wait, hold on, let me, let me, let me gather my
- 32:06thoughts. You didn't do that.
- 32:07It was. Just in.
- 32:11Desperation and and just follow the path of destruction after
- 32:15that, right? Right.
- 32:16So yeah, it definitely has something to do with the.
- 32:18Photograph before Yeah, yeah, 100% yeah.
- 32:20He might have. He probably felt accused.
- 32:22Yeah. So he was just like, absolutely.
- 32:25He went off the rails after that.
- 32:28Yeah, actually, yeah, he was. Says he was accused and we just
- 32:32read Settle figure out with the accused.
- 32:35Yeah, yeah. Settle it with your accuser
- 32:39with. Your accuser, yeah, absolutely.
- 32:41No, you see, like that's why bro.
- 32:42He didn't settle it. He tried to take it to his own
- 32:45hands. Dude, he the crazy, he said, he
- 32:47said. And I tell you so he, he
- 32:51correlates it with with the children of light too, he says,
- 32:53for the children of this age are more shrewd.
- 32:56What does shrewd mean? What does shrewd mean?
- 32:58Shrewd. What does it mean?
- 33:01Shrewd is like, where are we reading this from again?
- 33:04So I can have perspective of 16 of 16, Yes.
- 33:09Verse eight. Yeah, here we go.
- 33:13And his master complimented the unrighteous manager because he
- 33:19had acted shrewdly also. Basically that means like,
- 33:25disrespectfully. Oh, disrespect.
- 33:27Yeah. Improper.
- 33:28Yeah. Oh wow.
- 33:29Interesting. That was the same.
- 33:32It's interesting enough that mine says the master commended
- 33:35the dishonest manager because he had acted shrewdly.
- 33:38I know, different wording, different version of.
- 33:40Yeah, that's interesting. I said dishonest.
- 33:43Yeah, exactly. Yeah, being disrespectful,
- 33:48right. It's basically saying it's play
- 33:53on words because they don't want to repeat the in Greek.
- 33:56It's much more clear if you were to read in Greek.
- 33:58If you read Greek, dude, it's so much clearer because English is
- 34:02weird, right? So many play on words because
- 34:05the Greek is just one word. That one word can mean literally
- 34:09many things. So yeah, it means like
- 34:12dishonest, disrespectful, dishonorable.
- 34:15It means all those things. All right, that being said, all
- 34:20let's move on to Luke 13 verses 22 to 30.
- 34:27My bad. Not yeah, Luke 13.
- 34:29That's right, 22 to 3020. 2 to 30.
- 34:32Yep. So if you want, I can read it
- 34:37again. I don't mind.
- 34:39So actually we're going to start in verse 24.
- 34:42Actually make every effort to enter through the narrow door
- 34:48because I tell you, many will try to enter and won't be able.
- 34:52Once the homeowner gets up and shuts the door, then you will
- 34:55stand outside and knock on the door saying, Lord open up for
- 35:00us. He will answer you, I don't know
- 35:03you or where you're from. Then you will say, We ate and
- 35:07drank in your presence and you taught in our streets.
- 35:11But he will say, I tell you, I don't know you or where you're
- 35:14from. Get away from me, all you evil
- 35:17doers. There will be weeping and
- 35:19gnashing of teeth in that place when you see Abraham, Isaac,
- 35:24Jacob and all the prophets in the Kingdom of God.
- 35:28But yourselves thrown out. They will come from east and
- 35:32West, from North and South to to share the banquet in the Kingdom
- 35:38of God. Note this, some who are last
- 35:42will be first, and some who are first will be last.
- 35:45That was very interesting. Right.
- 35:49Well, yeah, that's tying everything to what he was
- 35:51reading in Luke 12. Those will be last.
- 35:54Those will be first. I remember we were talking about
- 35:56this with Wilmer a couple months ago.
- 35:59Remember that we just like you had an epiphany.
- 36:02He just like, Oh my God, and I was thinking of something to it
- 36:06that during that time and it was just crazy.
- 36:08But that correlates all to chapter to 12 and in regards to
- 36:13settling that. But you know, it's crazy if you
- 36:18know the right thing to do, do. It do the right thing.
- 36:22Do it right. Do the right thing, yeah.
- 36:25Because if you know, if you know the right, you have now the
- 36:27wisdom to know what to do. The good thing you don't do it,
- 36:31James says. For you, it is a sin.
- 36:34That means you're disobeying. The sin is the disobedience for
- 36:37not doing the right thing. No, but I'm actually going to
- 36:39say right now, the part that really just just got me, like it
- 36:43just really got me thinking. It said once the owner of the
- 36:46house gets up and closes the door, you will stand outside
- 36:49knocking and pleading, Sir, open the door for us.
- 36:53But he will answer. I don't know you or where you
- 36:55came from like that. That's tough right there.
- 36:59It's like you know the owner, you know someone and only her
- 37:02Lord, you know, he gets up and shuts the door.
- 37:06It's there's no coming back. There's no, there's no solution
- 37:10at that point, pretty much you're cooked.
- 37:12If he closes the door on you. It's like, like it reminds me
- 37:16of, kind of reminds me of Noah's ark a little or a lot.
- 37:20No, no, Yeah, yeah, of course. And if you really, if you, if
- 37:23you, if you try to have perspective on verse 1213141516,
- 37:28he's pretty much speaking and future tense.
- 37:31It's weird because these are for the people listening when Christ
- 37:36was speaking for them it was like parables but from Jesus
- 37:40perspective. It's a future tense thing that's
- 37:44happening. In other words it seems like
- 37:46from his wisdom that he has he was taking information from a
- 37:51Kingdom that was playing out itself already in a future of
- 37:56form of ruling. Which scripture does say that
- 37:59Christ will rule for 1000 years so he could be taking parables
- 38:05from examples that are to him had had already happened in the
- 38:10future taking those examples how the gospel of in the Kingdom of
- 38:16heaven is when he rules how it will work because let me let's
- 38:22just be clear that the thousand rule reign.
- 38:26There will be people here still, still not believing the fact
- 38:30that he just came from like from heaven.
- 38:33And people are still going to like, not like.
- 38:36That's actually a really good point that you pointed out there
- 38:38because in in this like book of Luke, he uses the rich man and
- 38:43Lazarus. And at the end of that, he says,
- 38:45not even if someone comes back to life, they will believe.
- 38:51So exactly, that's implying who came back to life.
- 38:54Exactly. So, so.
- 38:58So he's speaking in like very kingship terminology in regards
- 39:02to ruling, right. So it's interesting how he's
- 39:05painting it here to the listeners during that time and
- 39:08for us as readers as parables. Right.
- 39:12And not only does he paint that, for example, he took it's like
- 39:17Diego, you like the accuser is like you owe him something.
- 39:21Yeah. Right.
- 39:23Yeah, right. And you won't be able to, you
- 39:26won't meet that. Therefore Christ paid that
- 39:29penalty, right? You have now access to settle.
- 39:34What is to settle? God forgive me for my what?
- 39:37My sins for my sins when before you can say forgive me, it
- 39:41doesn't even matter. You can't.
- 39:43It wouldn't matter at. That you can't but Christ paid
- 39:47the penalty. You have access to say God, I'm
- 39:48sorry, you can settle. You can settle this this while
- 39:53you're alive. So like I said, a paint an idea
- 39:58of purgatory, but it seems like it's he's speaking in forms of
- 40:02when it's of ruling, when he's ruling.
- 40:06That's how I see it. You know what I'm saying?
- 40:08And now that we're here on earth, we can settle that
- 40:11because he's allowed that for us to settle.
- 40:15I don't know if any of you guys have anything.
- 40:16To I think that part was just very deep, you know, that last,
- 40:18that last part we just read, you know, No, no, no, I'm done.
- 40:24I'm done. All right, you have anything to
- 40:28say? No, nothing else.
- 40:30All right, so now we're going to the last chapter in the Book of
- 40:36Revelation, chapter 22, verses 12 to 1620. 2 to 22 what?
- 40:46Which? Chapter 22, verses 12 to 1612
- 40:51to. 16. No, chapter 22, sorry, verses 12
- 41:01to 16, one of the most interesting.
- 41:05Well, actually the last, the last chapter of the Bible,
- 41:10Revelation. Let me know when you guys are
- 41:14there you. Made it.
- 41:23I mean, I'm. There.
- 41:24OK, OK, so I'll start reading. So look, it says, look, I am
- 41:29coming soon and my reward is with me to repay each person
- 41:34according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega,
- 41:40the 1st and the last, the beginning and the end.
- 41:45Blessed are those who wash their robes so that they may have the
- 41:50right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates.
- 41:55Outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexual immorals,
- 42:00the murders, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices
- 42:05falsehood. I, Jesus, have sent my angels to
- 42:08attest these things to you for the churches.
- 42:13I am the root and descendant of David, the bright morning star.
- 42:20And this verse. I mean, these verses have a lot
- 42:25to do with what we just read. It's like how it just all
- 42:28connects to each other. You know, everything we just
- 42:31everything we just went over tonight, it all, it all links
- 42:34together. It's like, it's almost like the
- 42:36pieces are being put together, right, Right.
- 42:38Absolutely. Absolutely.
- 42:43It's interesting. I mean, I mean, if you were to,
- 42:46if you read Luke chapter 1257, it's just just a thought.
- 42:53I'm not, I'm not a theologist. I don't right?
- 42:58It's so funny. We could be so divided as a, as
- 43:02a body of Christ, you know, the Protestant, the Catholic and the
- 43:05Christian. We can be so divided, but
- 43:08there's one thing that's inevitable.
- 43:10It's just inevitable and we all know it within the community,
- 43:15the Protestant, the Catholic and the Christian of is that I'm
- 43:18just going to be judging though. It's just, it's inevitable.
- 43:21It's just straight up inevitable.
- 43:23You know, you can come to so many other conclusions, you know
- 43:27what I mean? And, and if you read 12 very
- 43:31carefully over and over, it's almost like you see a play on
- 43:34between the deity of God, like the ruler, the judge, the
- 43:39accuser, the majesty. Like, it's almost like, it's
- 43:42almost like they're all in there.
- 43:44Interesting. It's just, I don't even know.
- 43:45That's actually interesting. Yeah.
- 43:47I don't know. Because like, the reason why
- 43:49Christ come came to die is because we couldn't meet those
- 43:53standards. We can never, ever.
- 43:56Right. Like settle that account, if you
- 43:59will. You know what I mean?
- 44:01Yeah. Absolutely.
- 44:02And so then he then comes, dies, takes a penalty, then we can now
- 44:06settle, right? He's basically, he's basically
- 44:10saying you can now settle. He's being more than fair, like
- 44:14straight up fair, fair. And so, yeah, I, I, it's
- 44:17interesting how you tied it up to that.
- 44:20And I just, I just in my mind came to an inevitable
- 44:22conclusion, like, yeah, we'll be saved.
- 44:24All those who believe in Christ will be saved if their faith has
- 44:30a true evidence, their fruits show true evidence of their
- 44:33faith. But also we need to keep in
- 44:35mind, like his children and like in his Kingdom, he will also be
- 44:39a fair judge, 100% without a shadow of a doubt.
- 44:44Yeah, that's those are my thoughts.
- 44:49Yeah, no dude, it just it all correlates all together.
- 44:55He goes off with saying like I'm coming to repeat each according
- 44:58and then he says I'm the alpha and the Omega, the beginning and
- 45:01the end. And then he mentions, blessed
- 45:04are those that wash your robes daily for they will have the
- 45:06tree of life, right? And then he goes outside of
- 45:09those gates. Remember what we read in I think
- 45:12it was in chapter 13 of Luke, the narrow way he, you know, he
- 45:17shuts the door on them says Lord, Lord, you know, but he you
- 45:20know, he says outside of the gates are the sexual immorals
- 45:24that adulterers all those people, right?
- 45:27And it just all correlates all together.
- 45:30So like, and that's amazing that you you said like that you see
- 45:34the deity of God working it, it it almost does look, Yeah.
- 45:38Like now that now that you mentioned that I can, I can see
- 45:41that, yeah. Because, I mean, I kept reading.
- 45:47I was like, well, we we could, we can come to a conclusion that
- 45:51the enemy, the devil can be an accuser, But what is he?
- 45:53What is he to us? What do we owe him?
- 45:56We don't owe him anything. I don't owe him anything.
- 45:59He has his own judgement just as much as I do.
- 46:01So why? Why do I have to settle
- 46:03anything? Right.
- 46:05So if you keep reading it carefully, Christ, it's like
- 46:09literally using play on words of his deity.
- 46:13It's so weird. If you read it carefully, like
- 46:17over nor just like, it's amazing.
- 46:19But that's besides the point. What I'm trying to say is we
- 46:23could be all divided all we can and we can probably like I
- 46:27respect the Catholic, devout Catholic people.
- 46:31There's some people don't care cultural and the Orthodox, and I
- 46:35obviously in the Protestant community.
- 46:38But the end it's inevitable. Like those who believe in his
- 46:41children, you know, a father has to correct his children, does he
- 46:45not? Right.
- 46:47Obviously, if you're not my child, I don't.
- 46:49I don't know. You stay out there.
- 46:51Like, I don't know who you are. You stay out there.
- 46:52Yeah. Yeah.
- 46:53But he will. He will.
- 46:54He has the right to to be like, all right, all of you.
- 46:57All right. Well, you know, absolutely.
- 47:00Absolutely. So I don't know if you guys have
- 47:02any thoughts on that. Any more thoughts?
- 47:06No, no thoughts. Yeah.
- 47:08So no. Awesome.
- 47:11And you know what? These were all like Christ's
- 47:14words, you know, because all these letters are in red.
- 47:18But I thought it was amazing how they all correlate.
- 47:21And for for a while, I mean, growing up in in in church, I,
- 47:26it was mostly because I never really got into it.
- 47:28I know if I would have gotten into it, you know, a guy would
- 47:31have, you know, gave me more wisdom.
- 47:33But I used to think it was just either heaven or hell, right?
- 47:38Which I mean, yeah, those those are like, you know, the
- 47:40punishments, right? But it seems like it's much
- 47:43deeper than what we think. And like you said at the end,
- 47:48like, what I'm getting out of all this is that God is more
- 47:52than fair to all his children and even to the ones outside the
- 47:56gates, too. He's more than fair to all
- 47:58we're. Just not fair to ourselves.
- 48:02What do you mean by? Let's say we're just not fair to
- 48:03ourselves. Oh.
- 48:04Like, like we put ourselves down too much.
- 48:05Yeah, we put ourselves in that position.
- 48:07And and you know what, like one thing, I came to a conclusion,
- 48:11right? Like whenever we, we like fall
- 48:12short and we're like, no, God, I'm so pathetic.
- 48:15I'm not going to go to actually that within itself.
- 48:18You're already showing some pride because you're making it
- 48:20about yourself. You, you, why not go to God and
- 48:23ask God, God forgive me and give me strength so I may keep going.
- 48:27That is denying yourself right there and then, you know what I
- 48:31mean? So yeah, any more thoughts?
- 48:36All right, so I'm going to close this up with the prayer.
- 48:40Those that are listening, subscribe, keep tuning in.
- 48:44This is our first Bible study, Bible study recording that that,
- 48:50you know, we were just testing it out basically.
- 48:53But like, actually this was nice.
- 48:56And the the chapters that I love how they all correlate to each
- 48:59other. And I think as a body of Christ,
- 49:02we need to stop like reading chapters like if they're like
- 49:06separate from each other. And that's the reason why we
- 49:08have so much like division and so much twisted gospel, so much
- 49:13cunary for in other words. But yeah, we all need to
- 49:20actually read the things in context.
- 49:22And I know they're a lot deeper than what we just read right
- 49:24now, like, like they get deeper and deeper.
- 49:26But that's, that's it for today. And we're going to close with
- 49:30the prayer. So any more thoughts before?
- 49:35Thank you, Father, for just allowing us just to be here.
- 49:38And I just pray, O Lord, that you continue to guide us and all
- 49:43this wisdom that you have given us, O Lord, I know that much
- 49:46more will be required of us. And I just pray, O Lord, that
- 49:51you help us with our faith, You help us with our unbelief, and
- 49:55that so that we may grow more and more in your holy name.
- 49:59For I know at the end, O Lord, we're here for your glory, not
- 50:02our own. So thank you for everything, O
- 50:05Heavenly Father, your will be done for.
- 50:08You are the one true living God. Amen.
