- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, it looks like all systems are go for
- 0:02Speaker 1: a new episode of Off the Air of the weekly
- 0:04Speaker 1: podcast from the Lynch and Taco Show. Here at one
- 0:07Speaker 1: O one one w j r R. I'm Pat Lynch.
- 0:09Speaker 2: I'm Taco Bob. All right said that kind of like
- 0:13Speaker 2: a question mark. I'm Taco Bob. Last time I checked,
- 0:16Speaker 2: you were.
- 0:17Speaker 1: So if you're watching live on Facebook right now and
- 0:21Speaker 1: you want to jump in with anything or send this
- 0:24Speaker 1: in whatever direction, feel free. We're, you know, kind of
- 0:27Speaker 1: an open topic. When this podcast gets started, we always
- 0:31Speaker 1: end up at some place I wanted before I forgot.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I just I got to get this off my chest.
- 0:36Speaker 2: That's some bugging you.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Not bugging me. I was a little bit weirded out
- 0:41Speaker 1: yesterday after the show.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Oh at the entertainment Do.
- 0:45Speaker 1: You want to explain this? I guess. Is this part
- 0:48Speaker 1: of a new initiative. I guess here in the building
- 0:52Speaker 1: with management and the whole Is it a team building thing?
- 0:56Speaker 2: Team building? Yeah, they're going to have these team building
- 1:00Speaker 2: uh meetings once a month, give or take, which I
- 1:06Speaker 2: don't know how I feel about that. In between because
- 1:09Speaker 2: A and I'll have you know, an hour and a
- 1:11Speaker 2: half two hours once a month to sit after work,
- 1:15Speaker 2: and but it was it was all right. We had
- 1:19Speaker 2: great food.
- 1:20Speaker 1: No, the food was fantastic, Thank you Tibby's. But so
- 1:26Speaker 1: the theme yesterday was a Marty Groth theme, which was
- 1:29Speaker 1: kind of well a day late. You don't go crazy
- 1:34Speaker 1: on ash Wednesday. It's actually the polar opposite of the
- 1:37Speaker 1: day before, which is Fat Tuesday, the last big you know, hurrah.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yeah, well they were going to bring the food in
- 1:43Speaker 2: on Fat Tuesday.
- 1:45Speaker 1: But think about it, Tibby's has had their hands fall
- 1:48Speaker 1: on Fat Tuesday exactly. Okay, I get all that. Let's
- 1:51Speaker 1: let's move it to once. So they set up we
- 1:54Speaker 1: had this some of you have been up here before
- 1:56Speaker 1: and we'll be doing stuff again in the future in
- 1:58Speaker 1: this this performance studio that's actually right outside of our
- 2:02Speaker 1: studio here where we do the show from every morning.
- 2:05Speaker 1: So they have a you know, Marty Gras theme set up.
- 2:07Speaker 1: They have the food is brought in, which was great again, fantastic,
- 2:11Speaker 1: Thank you tivs. And there's some tables where you can
- 2:15Speaker 1: sit down in the decorations, and then a stage with
- 2:17Speaker 1: what appears to be like some sort of entertainment that
- 2:20Speaker 1: was pending.
- 2:21Speaker 2: People were enticed to dress up in Marty Gras clothing.
- 2:28Speaker 2: So that was pretty cool and good mind of people
- 2:31Speaker 2: participated in that. I didn't even I wouldn't even go
- 2:33Speaker 2: into the meeting because I had another meeting there to
- 2:36Speaker 2: go do. Then last minute, I'm like, oh god, I'm
- 2:39Speaker 2: blocked out of my email. I got to stay here
- 2:41Speaker 2: and call corporate anyway, so I'll guess I'll go.
- 2:44Speaker 1: So everybody got some food. We sat down, and there
- 2:48Speaker 1: wasn't a ton of people there. I certainly know that
- 2:51Speaker 1: there were quite a few no shows and things. It
- 2:55Speaker 1: was nice, the food was delicious. There's small talk going on,
- 2:58Speaker 1: and then here come these these performers, which there's some
- 3:02Speaker 1: dude playing keyboards, and then these two women dressed identically
- 3:07Speaker 1: and I know they were doing some improv and and
- 3:12Speaker 1: that that's what kind of weirded me out. They were strange. Man.
- 3:17Speaker 2: It was just the way that the one lady carried
- 3:20Speaker 2: herself in the face she was making the whole time
- 3:22Speaker 2: that weirded you out. Right.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I'm just I'm sitting there and I'm like, this is
- 3:25Speaker 1: a little too close for comfort. And then they start
- 3:29Speaker 1: calling people out and up onto the stage, and at
- 3:34Speaker 1: this point I'm going, okay, man, this is what this is.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Eleven something yesterday morning. I had been here since quarter
- 3:44Speaker 1: or two in the morning, and I'm like, okay, my
- 3:47Speaker 1: candle has just burned out. I am as as me
- 3:50Speaker 1: and Bianchi like to call it code for ducking out
- 3:53Speaker 1: midnight rider, not going to catch the midnight rider.
- 3:56Speaker 2: I'll look over and all of a sudden, there goes pat.
- 3:59Speaker 1: He's I made like I made like I had a
- 4:02Speaker 1: you know, a little bathroom break or whatever. However your
- 4:05Speaker 1: first hint should have been when I picked up all.
- 4:07Speaker 2: My stuff in life.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, that was just so what happened after
- 4:13Speaker 1: I left? Where where did that whole thing go? See?
- 4:15Speaker 1: For me?
- 4:17Speaker 2: I like those kind of things, kind of you know,
- 4:19Speaker 2: like you know, when people are going out of their
- 4:21Speaker 2: way to you know, be fun and whatever. But then
- 4:25Speaker 2: I got called on stage for one of them, for
- 4:27Speaker 2: one of the games, and I'm like.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Okay, oh there were games.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Yeah, like this really just took a turn for the ship.
- 4:34Speaker 2: But no, it was all right. You know, I was
- 4:37Speaker 2: the first one out of the game, which was maybe
- 4:39Speaker 2: done a little purposely, but.
- 4:42Speaker 1: You wouldn't have done that.
- 4:43Speaker 2: No, No, but there they were good. They were good
- 4:46Speaker 2: at improv. They did improv and and sang and jokes.
- 4:49Speaker 1: And where from did you ever find? From here?
- 4:52Speaker 2: They go?
- 4:53Speaker 1: They? No, I meant do they you know one of
- 4:55Speaker 1: the Phillips? Oh okay, yeah, okay, yeah.
- 4:58Speaker 2: And the but the longer you stay, the more you
- 5:00Speaker 2: were like, these people were really talented.
- 5:02Speaker 1: So oh, I didn't say they weren't talented. I just
- 5:04Speaker 1: said I was kind of weirded out. Yeah, that's all.
- 5:06Speaker 2: And the guy on the keyboard their brother. He was
- 5:08Speaker 2: cool because it was like a brother. And these two
- 5:11Speaker 2: I think they were sisters.
- 5:12Speaker 1: But yeah, so what time were you stuck here to?
- 5:15Speaker 2: I don't know how it built a team? Oh I
- 5:18Speaker 2: got out of here twelve something.
- 5:24Speaker 1: How it built a team? I caught what you just
- 5:26Speaker 1: said again. To build a team, you need more team members.
- 5:30Speaker 1: There I would think, yeah, it's only the first one,
- 5:34Speaker 1: but boy, they put a lot of pressure on to
- 5:36Speaker 1: be there though you run up to that. There's no
- 5:38Speaker 1: doubt about.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Forty email sent. I was picture when they said team building.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I didn't even know it was team building. I just
- 5:45Speaker 2: thought it was a damn Marty girl party. And I
- 5:47Speaker 2: was like, I gotta go.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I got stuff.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I gotta do and then made up a fake meeting.
- 5:54Speaker 2: But then I really did have a meeting fall on
- 5:56Speaker 2: that time, and then I had to camp. Anyway, I
- 6:00Speaker 2: thought it was gonna be like once once, Rich told
- 6:03Speaker 2: me yesterday, because yeah, it's like team building. They're gonna
- 6:05Speaker 2: do them once a month. I thought, Oh man, they're
- 6:07Speaker 2: gonna have us go up there and fall into his arms.
- 6:11Speaker 1: To build trust. Yeah, trust with your fellow team.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I don't know if that's gonna see the tippies again
- 6:18Speaker 2: and just dark behind me and drop me.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know that that particular team building exercise
- 6:25Speaker 1: is probably still in vogue for insurance and liability purposes.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think it is.
- 6:29Speaker 1: But did you hear what happened to so and so.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Yeah they're paralyzed from permanently.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Yeah, they own half the company. No, but if you
- 6:38Speaker 2: think about it, we did talk to some sales weasels
- 6:41Speaker 2: about some different products and possibilities, so you know you
- 6:46Speaker 2: might be able.
- 6:46Speaker 1: To in that regard. I'm all for it, And that was.
- 6:49Speaker 2: The idea behind it. They want the salespeople and the
- 6:53Speaker 2: on air people to be closer. But that's where I
- 6:57Speaker 2: said to Rick, our bosses and I'm not a poopoo
- 7:01Speaker 2: on the party thing, that's for sure. I love these things.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I love that fun. But I said to him, I go,
- 7:07Speaker 2: it's kind of forcing it. You don't really force something, right, Yeah,
- 7:12Speaker 2: he's Pats pointing me right now if you're not watching
- 7:14Speaker 2: the Facebook live. But yeah, it was like, okay, we'll
- 7:20Speaker 2: see what's to come. What what the email of the
- 7:24Speaker 2: party planning committee sends out next?
- 7:26Speaker 1: It'll be St Patrick's deck. There's it's it's the too obvious.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you're right, that's the thing. There better be
- 7:33Speaker 2: a keg if that's the well, that was the thing
- 7:36Speaker 2: with yesterday's party. I go, hey, there's gonna be beer
- 7:38Speaker 2: at this thing, right.
- 7:40Speaker 1: No, what but ash Wednesday? Who cares the time?
- 7:46Speaker 2: You know, sacrificing. But yeah, we'll see. That's what it was.
- 7:55Speaker 1: It was.
- 7:55Speaker 2: It was when the email first went out and said,
- 7:59Speaker 2: hey from your party planning committee head, and I go, Daly,
- 8:05Speaker 2: and then I got right on top of it. But
- 8:07Speaker 2: the decline, I am not being a dick. I just
- 8:10Speaker 2: I have too much going on right.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Now, already had the fake meeting in place. That was yes,
- 8:15Speaker 1: we got all right, Well we'll see how it goes
- 8:18Speaker 1: moving forward.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I was just but those those ladies and that guy
- 8:21Speaker 2: were very talented, and I know you never said they weren't.
- 8:24Speaker 2: But after you left, it got better and better and
- 8:27Speaker 2: people got into it and it was it was kind
- 8:29Speaker 2: of coo.
- 8:29Speaker 1: So I after I slid out, I got downstairs into
- 8:33Speaker 1: my truck, and the first thing I did is I
- 8:34Speaker 1: pulled out my phone and I just texted Taco. I said,
- 8:37Speaker 1: not going to catch the midnight Rider. He just text back, you, Dick.
- 8:42Speaker 2: I'm sitting at the table.
- 8:46Speaker 1: All right. No, I had to go up and watch hockey, dude.
- 8:50Speaker 2: I understand the hockey started at three o'clock.
- 8:52Speaker 1: No, there was games before that. There were games. There
- 8:55Speaker 1: were three overtime games yesterday, man, and that the US
- 8:59Speaker 1: Suite game was something. Man.
- 9:01Speaker 2: I actually watched some of that. I admitted it earlier.
- 9:04Speaker 1: It was cool. That was intense. You know, if you
- 9:07Speaker 1: haven't been watching the Winter Olympics, I get it, totally
- 9:11Speaker 1: get it. I haven't watched a whole lot outside of
- 9:13Speaker 1: the hockey and maybe a little the bob sled and skeleton.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Yeah that's skeleton thing. You got to be out of
- 9:20Speaker 1: your fricking mind.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Yeah, you're nuts.
- 9:21Speaker 1: You'll lay down, you know, headfirst on your belly and
- 9:25Speaker 1: then rock it down. And I shoot, I.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Watched the people doing the downhill on the big old
- 9:31Speaker 2: eighteen story high the big air thing. Yeah, that's intense.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Seventeen year old girl doing that. I'd be afraid to
- 9:40Speaker 2: even be up on that stand, but you know, with
- 9:43Speaker 2: my fear of heights, and she's seventeen, just killing it.
- 9:47Speaker 2: But of one thing, back to the party, one thing
- 9:51Speaker 2: that I noticed. I showed we have a guy that
- 9:53Speaker 2: works here in promo that looks exactly like Dwight shrewd
- 9:57Speaker 2: from the office. So day one I started calling him Dwight,
- 10:01Speaker 2: and he loves it.
- 10:02Speaker 1: He's new to our business and new and newer to
- 10:04Speaker 1: our team here, but he's a good guy.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and he likes he likes the name Dwight. And
- 10:08Speaker 2: anybody this sees him, I go, hey, you watch the
- 10:11Speaker 2: office and they go, oh my god. But so I
- 10:13Speaker 2: told Dwight, said, hey, Dwight, here's an old radio trick.
- 10:17Speaker 2: I go going to get seconds. Am I hungry?
- 10:21Speaker 1: No radio people love free food.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Exactly when I finished that was my next line. So
- 10:27Speaker 2: I loaded this plate of Tibby's pat Some bitches like
- 10:30Speaker 2: this a mountain is how hungry are you going to go?
- 10:36Speaker 2: But so that I make this huge to go plate
- 10:39Speaker 2: and I just like, you know, hey, wife, and I'll
- 10:41Speaker 2: have a nice little relaxed dinner and uh and all
- 10:45Speaker 2: of a sudden at the end of it, they start
- 10:47Speaker 2: handing out tins for to go for people. Holy I have,
- 10:52Speaker 2: I have Tibby's pat for the next I had for
- 10:57Speaker 2: lunch and dinner yesterday.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Nothing wrong with that.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Lunch and dinner tonight again, Yeah, definitely.
- 11:03Speaker 1: So you were commenting earlier today that two of our
- 11:08Speaker 1: fellow co workers who also do a morning show are
- 11:10Speaker 1: on their cruise.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Now, yeah, they're on the cruise line that I just
- 11:15Speaker 2: got off of Virgin Virgin Voyages.
- 11:17Speaker 1: So Chad and Leslie from Magic have a cruise. The
- 11:21Speaker 1: Excellers had a cruise, and I know, I see your
- 11:26Speaker 1: gears just grinding over there.
- 11:28Speaker 2: We have our thirty year anniversary, Pat and I working
- 11:31Speaker 2: together thirty years in June, and I said it, excuse
- 11:36Speaker 2: me on the tune up lock in, you know, like
- 11:38Speaker 2: when you have the big meeting where they lock.
- 11:40Speaker 1: In more team building.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, that kind of stuff. But I said there ago,
- 11:44Speaker 2: we need to have a.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Cruise Brian Dozier mandatory fun exactly exactly forced.
- 11:52Speaker 2: But I was like, we need to have a cruise,
- 11:56Speaker 2: and the heck okay anyway, I was just looking at
- 12:00Speaker 2: a text, so I was like, man, we got it.
- 12:03Speaker 2: We need to do a cruise. Yeah, and I keep
- 12:05Speaker 2: seeing all these different people going on cruises. We don't
- 12:07Speaker 2: need to do the high end Vergin voyages. That's no,
- 12:11Speaker 2: that's a little priceier. We can just do you know,
- 12:14Speaker 2: whichever one, like.
- 12:15Speaker 1: A Carnival Bahamas cruise.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Yeah, but I gotta take it easy this time.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Yeah. There, see as much as your gears are grinding,
- 12:24Speaker 1: as I say, don't get your hopes up. Man, I
- 12:27Speaker 1: do not see it happening. I don't care if it's
- 12:30Speaker 1: our fiftieth anniversary. And I know plenty of you would
- 12:33Speaker 1: sign up and want to go and raise some Hell,
- 12:36Speaker 1: that's the problem. That was the initial problem why there
- 12:40Speaker 1: won't be another Lynchintaco cruise. If you asked me, if
- 12:44Speaker 1: you gave me one thousand dollars right now to place
- 12:46Speaker 1: a bet on the likelihood of that happening, I would
- 12:50Speaker 1: almost go all in on. No. Really, yes, I'm not
- 12:53Speaker 1: against it, don't hear me wrong. I just am a realist.
- 12:58Speaker 1: If you gave me.
- 12:58Speaker 2: One thousand dollars, I'd got a fair winds right after
- 13:02Speaker 2: the show and depose at that.
- 13:03Speaker 1: No, not tell you if you had to bet it,
- 13:06Speaker 1: I would go all in a no. Yeah, don't get
- 13:08Speaker 1: your hopes up, man. Yeah we can ask, we can try.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I mean we could be mature this time, sure, you know. Yeah,
- 13:14Speaker 2: will you brought your wife? Last time? You could bring
- 13:16Speaker 2: your wife. I could bring my wife. All the listeners
- 13:19Speaker 2: bring their husbands and wives.
- 13:21Speaker 1: And well, yeah, that's the whole idea.
- 13:24Speaker 2: Now, maybe I'm a little iffy on this whole crew.
- 13:29Speaker 1: I'm not trying to talk you out of it. I'm
- 13:30Speaker 1: just trying to talk to you lands into me. Lower
- 13:33Speaker 1: your expectations a little bit. And you sometimes have a
- 13:36Speaker 1: short memory.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Yeah, oh no, I never remember plenty.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Yeah that that inadvertently was an element that made for
- 13:44Speaker 1: an interesting couple of years for both of us.
- 13:47Speaker 2: So anyway, we're not allowed to really talk about that.
- 13:50Speaker 2: But I do remember having the worst headache from having that.
- 13:53Speaker 2: And I know that this was on the fish and
- 13:55Speaker 2: cruise too, but having the shower cap on my head,
- 13:59Speaker 2: Holy God, didn't know that could kill me, you know,
- 14:02Speaker 2: because the heat is trapped in all the heat that
- 14:04Speaker 2: comes out of your head.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Your hothouse effect that you had going with that dude.
- 14:08Speaker 1: You literally between you and that guy Big Matt.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Yeah, uh huh.
- 14:16Speaker 1: It's like it's like if you guys were in like
- 14:19Speaker 1: a who can be Scuzzier competition inadvertently, but that's kind
- 14:24Speaker 1: of what it got down to. After a few days.
- 14:26Speaker 2: I was just walking around in a robe everywhere in
- 14:30Speaker 2: the in the boat in a row.
- 14:31Speaker 1: But remember it's just like our and this clear shower
- 14:34Speaker 1: cap on his head that was just steamed up with humidity.
- 14:38Speaker 1: And as the days went bike, I just there was
- 14:41Speaker 1: no no apparent showering had taken place, and I was
- 14:45Speaker 1: just bewildered by this.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Yeah, because the shower was so small. I was like,
- 14:49Speaker 2: I don't get a small shower. I'll just take one
- 14:51Speaker 2: after lunch. But I when when we first saw one
- 14:56Speaker 2: of our speaking of how it will just wild me
- 15:00Speaker 2: and this man. Everybody got wild. Everybody had a great time,
- 15:03Speaker 2: but Matt and I how just ripped. Remember he was
- 15:06Speaker 2: walking through the damn boat with the dining room with
- 15:09Speaker 2: a magna magnum of champagne. A magnum. People, if you don't.
- 15:13Speaker 2: It's as big as your waist to your foot, that
- 15:17Speaker 2: law that tall.
- 15:18Speaker 1: He waltzed into the the sit down dinner one night
- 15:22Speaker 1: in the.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Robe with the dress up sit down dinner with.
- 15:25Speaker 1: The Magnum and I just I wanted to crawl under
- 15:29Speaker 1: the table. He's like, ah, there, you guys are no man.
- 15:35Speaker 2: But the way we were on that cruise, it was
- 15:38Speaker 2: funny to see our big boss Mark when we haven't
- 15:41Speaker 2: seen him in you know, several years, and he goes,
- 15:46Speaker 2: I'm strive as you're still alive, Taco Bob.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I didn't know how to take that.
- 15:53Speaker 2: I mean, that's I was taken back for a second.
- 15:57Speaker 1: And that is coming from a dude who has been
- 16:02Speaker 1: involved with some weld radio yeah crazy radio situations over
- 16:07Speaker 1: the years.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Oh yeah yeah.
- 16:08Speaker 1: And for him to say that he was he was
- 16:11Speaker 1: genuinely being honest when he said that to you.
- 16:16Speaker 2: I fries your life, Taco Bob. I said, yeah, And
- 16:21Speaker 2: I go, wait, I don't know, you know.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Yeah, So anyway, just we'll ask, will inquire. We know
- 16:33Speaker 1: many of you continue to add, or is going to be
- 16:35Speaker 1: another cruisers? And yes, the thirty year anniversary would be
- 16:38Speaker 1: a no brainer to tie something into it. We get that.
- 16:41Speaker 1: We understand that.
- 16:42Speaker 2: I'm telling you, I bet if we did a cruise,
- 16:45Speaker 2: I bet you we could get minimum five hundred.
- 16:48Speaker 1: People in there. We know people listening from all over today. Jacksonville,
- 16:52Speaker 1: Southern Illinois. Oh, southern Illinois. Are you're not near that?
- 16:57Speaker 1: Cairo or Caro? Are you?
- 16:58Speaker 2: What was that one again?
- 16:59Speaker 1: That that was that ghost town we inadvertently drove through
- 17:02Speaker 1: on our trip back from from Kansas City. Yeah, holy crap,
- 17:07Speaker 1: that was a scary place.
