- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hello, hello everyone.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to another episode of the Live Well Podcast.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: I am so excited for another episode.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: I feel like I say this in everyone, but it's because I truly am.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: And in good fashion, I am going to give you guys a live well update as well.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Um, I feel like it's been a while since I've talked to I love the podcast.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: I feel like the podcast is amazing because I can just go on these riffs about topics and give you guys so much information, so much value, so much understanding on all of these things.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: You guys can really start to take control of your health, live well, haha, pun there, um, and just feel delicious and amazing.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: So, live well update for me.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: I am obsessed with the new beverage.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: I've been making it at home.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: I first got it at Nut Bar, which is like a little wellness cafe place that has a bunch of like vibey drinks, but like they're like vibey wellness drinks with like chaga and all this stuff.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Anyways, so I've been starting to make mine at home um because I want to have them like basically every day, but I either can't go to Nut Bar every day because it's you know a little bit far, my day's busy, but also um they are like a little bit on the pricier side, so I've been trying to make them at home, and I have nailed this combo.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: First, I am obsessed with the Elmhurst unsweetened hazelnut milk.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Guys, it is a vibe, it is so good.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: The hazelnut, it's just if you've not tried hazelnut milk, it's it's the place to be, okay?
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Um, and hazelnuts are also like super good for you as well.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: I really like the Elmhurst brand because it is unsweetened and there are no like weird ingredients or oils or sugar or anything like that.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: It's just super super clean, so that's why I like it.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: The hazelnut also adds a different flavor.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: I feel like a lot of us have been drinking like either almond milk or cashew milk, you know, for years, you know, since the cows came home, and like it's it's a bit overdone, right?
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: So I feel like the hazelnut gives you a different like bit of flavor, bit of taste.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Um, I generally use this more in like a coffee beverage rather than a smoothie, where I feel like I may not be able to taste it as much.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: Um, and you guys know hazelnuts are so good, they're they're rich in like biotin, which is really good for your cells, your DNA, inflammation, your hair.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: You know, they got copper, which is a good antioxidant, they're high in phytochemicals and flavonoids that really protects your immune system.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Um, and of course, they're also high in manganese, so it really helps like to help detox your liver, which we're actually gonna be going into in today's episode.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Um, and so there's really good, anyways.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Also, this is like I'm gonna give you guys a full recipe.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: I'm going on a tangent because I just made one and I'm sipping it and it's delicious.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: So we have our Elmhurst unsweetened hazelnut milk.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Now, I don't measure things, probably should, but uh I'll try to measure it for you guys.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Maybe like maybe like a quarter cup.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: But truth be told, I do this and I add this to coffee, so any kind of like organic steeped coffee.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Now, what generally happens, and I'm gonna be perfectly honest.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: I make my morning cup of coffee, I drink like half of it, and I don't finish it, and then I use the other half to make this concoction mid to late morning.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Okay, so we have we have our steeped coffee like normal coffee.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: You can also use espresso or make a little bit of Americano.
- 3:09SPEAKER_00: I add in maybe like a third of a cup of unsweetened almond milk, about a teaspoon of bulletproof um brain octane, which is so good.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: It's a coconut oil, but it's a coconut oil with a higher count of carbon 8 MCTs, which is like I know you guys don't know what that means, but uh brain octane just has like a higher count of carbon chain, coconut oil, fatty acids, so it not only helps to like balance out your blood sugar and everything like that, but it also helps to balance the caffeine.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: So if you find that you get really jittery with caffeine, I would try adding in some of the bulletproof brain octane.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: You can also just use plain coconut oil, but truth be told, I do prefer the bulletproof brain octane, and I've been buying it for years.
- 3:56SPEAKER_00: It's something that I always have on hand.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: So I add in about a teaspoon of that.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: So then it not only makes it really creamy and frothy, this coconut oil, but it also helps to balance your blood sugar, it helps to balance that caffeine spike, and it makes me more alert and focused with that caffeine jitters.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Okay, so we have the hazelnut, the coffee, the MCT, then I add in a touch of vanilla um to the little touch of vanilla extract, cinnamon sometimes, um, but not always.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: And then I'll add in some sort of mushroom.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: So I'll either add in chaga.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: Today I did lion's mane because I am fresh out of chaga, and um, I have a bunch of the four sigmatic lion's mane, so I'm working my way through that.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: So I'll add in some lion's mane just for extra focus, and I blend it up, and that's it.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: I put it in like my little um ninja, blend it up, pour it over ice, it's creamy, frothy, so much flavor, adaptance, deliciousness, so good.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: Anyways, that is like my little yumminess.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Um, for you guys, that is my update because I'm really obsessed with this.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: Um, and I've also really been obsessed with salads.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: I don't know why.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: We're just gonna go on a full like obsession live update before we get into this episode.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: With the warmer weather, I've just been liking really adding in lots of different like salads, but like salads with lots of different stuff.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: So yesterday I made a salad.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: Um, I put it on my Instagram story.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: It was delicious.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: It was romaine, tomato, cucumber, pecans, hem parts, lemon juice, radish, vegan feta, and then like a generous dose of like olive oil, salt, and pepper, and it was it was fantastic.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Anyways, I just really want to encourage you guys to like not be boring with your salads, like add in as much texture.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: Oh, and I also added in basil, that was it, fresh basil.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Um, as much texture, flavors, like different herbs, different things like nuts, and then some radish and cucumber with the lettuce, and like just all the different textures really make it versus just eating a plate and salad, anyways.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: That is my update.
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: I've been feeling feeling great.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: Um, Akasha's at daycare today, so we have like a full work day today.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: She's such an angel, she's been swimming.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: We like I on the on Sunday, she tends to go to the beach because there's this big dog park there that I like take her to, and she loves swimming.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: And it's honestly maybe this is how parents feel, but like I was so proud of her this past Sunday because she went into the water and she went farther than she ever has to get her ball, and she was paddling, and it's the cutest thing to watch her paddle in the lake.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: Ugh, I don't know.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: I just this must be how parents feel when like their child does something.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: I'm just like, yes, and like I was like, Oh my god, good job! And and then she got all tuckered out, and like how I assume like a toddler would get tuckered out after a day at the beach, and it was it was super fun, anyways.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: That is my little update.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Let's get into today's episode because in today's episode we're talking kind of about mood swings, weight gain, and why this can be happening.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: I feel like this is I'm getting a lot of requests for stuff like this.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: A lot of people who are saying their mood is off, they're feeling low, you know, they're getting weight.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna break down kind of all all the different you know things that could be causing it.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: And um, just a little tiny notes, but before we jump in, the early enrollment for well-nourished is, I believe, yeah, by the time this goes out live, this will be open, which means those of you who need the extended payment plan, um, there's a lot of requests for it from last time.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: Um, so I've organized that for you again so you can enroll now, start binging all the videos, and then you'll have the live calls in September when they start.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: But at least now you can get in, you start watching all of the videos, and there's like there's a lot of videos in there, guys.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: Everything from alcohol to how to eat healthy, emotions in food, like stopping emotional eating, there's EFT tappings, there's reprogramming tracks, meditations, like how to eat out, how to like still go out, have wine, truffle fries, feel amazing the next day, how to grocery shop, how to quit sugar, like literally everything you could possibly need to live well is in is in there.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: Because we do it, we do a buy-in body, everything like that.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Plus, you can book your one-on-one right away when you enroll, which means you can get my one-on-one um treatment protocol as soon as you enroll.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna leave that down below.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: Um, just wanted to casually kind of mention that for those of you who are looking for the extended payment plan to pay it off over a longer period of time.
- 8:04SPEAKER_00: You can go and grab that in the description on the show notes.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: So, with that being said, let's go ahead and jump in.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the Live Well Podcast.
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: This podcast is designed to help you live well, body, mind, and soul.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Liv, a natural health and wellness expert, and each week you will walk away with the insights, tools, and tips to truly live your best life.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: If you are looking to live well, you are in the right place.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: A new episode starts now.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Alright, guys, so in today's episode, we are talking about mood swings, weight gain, and why this could be happening.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: So there's really like three major things, but they all play on each other, but I'm gonna like break them down and then you'll kind of see how they all feed off of each other.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: So, why you need to do them all.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: So, first, we got hormones, we got gut health, and then we have like energetics, which is often the thing that people forget.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: And I'm gonna dive into each of those.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: So, first of all, let's start about hormones.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: There are so many things in life that require balance to be in sync, um, to be, you know, kept in equilibrium.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: And, you know, if you think about your hormones, your hormones are chemical messengers that tell your body what to do, when to do it, and for how long to do it.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: Your hormones control basically everything from sexual function to metabolism to mood.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: I mean, you name it, hormones play a role.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: So if they are balanced, then you know, you're feeling amazing.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: You are, you know, not being bloated, your mood is great, you're happy, you're joyful, you're like lean, you're not having weight gain or holding on to excess weight, you know, you feel good in your body, you're not anxious, you're able to like eat a lot, and your metabolism is just on fire, like you name it.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: You look also your libido's great, you know, you're you're having plenty of you know um pleasure in your life.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: Let's just use the word pleasure, um, and you're feeling good.
- 9:56SPEAKER_00: So hormones are super important, but specifically, estrogen and progesterone are normally at fault when things go wrong with hormones, um, especially in terms of mood swings and weight gain.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: So, estrogen role the role of estrogen in your body is to balance blood sugar, immune, so like have your immune system be strong, strong bones, strong heart, brain function, and fertility.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: Your ovaries mostly produce progesterone.
- 10:25SPEAKER_00: So, progesterone is the other one that I mentioned, which plays a crucial role in your menstrual cycle.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: So, when both of these hormones are in balance, you have like amazing energy, you're lean, you're confident, you sleep well, your skin is glowing and vibrant.
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: Like your sex drive is like, okay, you know that levitating song?
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: It's like, I want you, you want me, baby.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: It's like basically your sex drive is like that.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Anyways, I had to figure it out because you guys know you know when it's a song, you're like, you need to know what it is.
- 10:51SPEAKER_00: I had to go pause and figure it out.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: Anyways, we're back.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: So when pedesterone or estrogen becomes out of balance, other hormones are also quick to follow.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: And basically, the disastrous consequences can impact your energy, your focus, your waistline.
- 11:08SPEAKER_00: Um, and both high or low estrogen levels play a role in what is called PCOS or polycystic ovary syndrome, which I know a lot of you struggle with, but also infertility.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: So if you're having trouble conceiving, if you've had miscarriages, and then we also have things like breast cancer and autoimmune disease.
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: So progesterone imbalances also spell disaster.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: So we have the estrogen imbalances having a disaster, then progesterone also can cause a disaster.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: When progesterone becomes too low, estrogen takes over and that creates a whole other mess.
- 11:40SPEAKER_00: So we have estrogen overload, and then progesterone is low, and everything kind of gets out of balance, but then continues to feed off of each other, which is the dangerous cycle.
- 11:51SPEAKER_00: So your body overproduces estrogen, your estrogen metabolism and excretion changes, then your estrogen to progesterone ratio becomes out of whack.
- 11:58SPEAKER_00: Like I said, when you think of this, think of infertility, miscarriages, PCOS, autoimmune disease, um, weight gain, like anxiety, depression, low sex drive, um, brain fog, all of these things like are tied to your hormones, which is why it's so important to make sure these are balanced.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Let alone you're probably having PMS, which is like, guys, if you are having PMS still, no, you need to get into well-nourished, you need to get into one-on-one, we need to fix it because you should not be living with PMS every month.
- 12:27SPEAKER_00: It is not normal, it is a sign that things are out of balance.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: We can fix them so that you feel delicious during your cycle.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: Anyways, estrogen dominance comes in like two flavors, if you will.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: Um, it occurs with too much estrogen, and then when estrogen levels increase relative to progesterone, you have this relative estrogen dominance.
- 12:46SPEAKER_00: And this happens normally during the second part of the cycle, which is kind of like your luteal phase.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: You don't need to remember that name, but just if you're curious, it's called the luteal phase.
- 12:54SPEAKER_00: So, where estrogen remains high in that phase where it actually should be lower than your progesterone.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: So, how do you know if this is happening?
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: A, you're gonna want to talk to someone like me, but if you have any of these symptoms that I'm like I'm mentioning, you know, like fertility, mood, sex drive, and all that, chances are they are imbalanced.
- 13:14SPEAKER_00: So, how do they become imbalanced?
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: How do these hormones, you know, wreak havoc and how can you start to fix them?
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: So there's multiple factors that typically contribute to your hormones being out of whack between the estrogen and the progesterone.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: And rarely is it one thing that knocks it out of balance.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: Like in my practice, I have found that like there's typically about seven, seven or eight that I'm gonna go through um that make it worse or contribute to it.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: So, first off, I'm gonna name stress, especially because stress is huge right now.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take a sip of my my concoction that I told you guys about in the intro.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: So, stress is major, I think, for a lot of people right now.
- 13:53SPEAKER_00: They've had a stressful year and then their hormones are out of whack, but then the fact that your hormones are out of whack maybe are making you have miscarriages or infertility, which is causing you more stress, or your low mood, which is causing you more stress, or weight gain, which is causing you more stress.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: And you guys can see how they feed off of each other, right?
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: And so when your adrenals can't stop producing stress hormones, progesterone levels drop, and as a result, their relative estrogen dominance can occur.
- 14:17SPEAKER_00: And that's because your body makes cortisol, the body's stress hormone, from precursors that include progesterone.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: So if you are hella stressed out, if you are stressed AF all the damn time, then your bottle body's gonna keep making cortisol because it's like, oh shit, lives running from a tiger, because it doesn't know that you know lives not running from a tiger from the different stresses that we have in our modern age.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: So it's like, oh, I gotta keep making cortisol to keep her going because we're still running from this tiger.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: And so your progesterone actually decreases because it's like, well, we don't have the resources to make progesterone right now, so we can't do that.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: We gotta keep making cortisol because we gotta keep her going because life is stressful AF right now.
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: So this disrupts that delicate balance.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: This is number one, okay?
- 15:01SPEAKER_00: And as I we already saw all of the symptoms and signs of things being off, it's gonna make you more stressed out and feed it.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: Then we have inflammation.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: So, inflammation, basically, inflammation can be good and bad, but like for the most part, most people's inflammation response is too high.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: So there is a certain degree of inflammation that helps you survive.
- 15:24SPEAKER_00: Say when you cut your finger and you know your white blood cells, you know, step in to help, or you know, when you have like a virus that comes in, your body gets a bit inflamed to to help it, right?
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: But inflammation should do its job and then chill out.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: But inflammation that lingers does not serve the body, and it's called chronic inflammation.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: And this contributes to nearly every disease.
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: And this is the type of inflammation that often causes hormone imbalance.
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: When your body is living in that state of chronic inflammation, perhaps you're eating, you know, you're still eating sugar, perhaps you're still eating gluten, and so you know, eating gluten every day that's gonna make your body inflamed, then we're gonna throw off our hormones, then our mood's gonna be low, then we're gonna get anxious, depressed, bloated, you name it.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: You guys know the cycle.
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: I've talked about the cycle so many times, but I feel like there's still people um who may not know this, so I want to drive this home.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: It's very, very important to tackle inflammation.
- 16:18SPEAKER_00: Then we have liver health.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: So, among its many duties, the liver removes excess hormones.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: However, and this is something I've said again, I'll say I've said before, and I'll say it again, yes, your liver detoxes naturally.
- 16:33SPEAKER_00: However, with the environmental toxins, with the alcohol, maybe you're on birth control or you take Advil, maybe your beauty products aren't clean, your liver is overburdened, you know, then we add in excess amounts of sugar, maybe especially fructose.
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: Maybe we've been eating three bananas at a time because so-and-so is doing it on the raw till four vegan diet.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: And then we have all this fructose that our liver is trying to metabolize through.
- 16:58SPEAKER_00: And basically, your liver gets backed up and can't work correctly, and then your hormones are off, contributing to all of this.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: So you need to tackle your liver, you need to make sure your liver is detoxing properly so that it's not overburdened and it can properly metabolize not only through the toxins, drugs, alcohol, fructose, hormones, um, but that way everything comes into balance.
- 17:21SPEAKER_00: Then we have gut issues, which is a separate thing that, like, yes, contributes to hormonal imbalances, but also contributes to mood issues and weight gain itself.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: So, let me just give a brief thing how it relates to hormones, and then I'll dive deeper into gut after the hormone part.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: So, an overgrowth of bacteria in the gut basically prevents proper excretion and encourages the reabsorption of estrogen.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: So, if your gut is off, you are reabsorbing hormones that you were supposed to poop out, or you were supposed to excrete, and that's going to further contribute to the imbalance.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: Then we have environmental toxins.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: So these are xenoestrogens or different like chemical compounds that basically imitate natural estrogens.
- 18:05SPEAKER_00: And this is why it is so important to use non-toxic products.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: It's actually why I made this whole like non-toxic guide to healthy living that's in well-nourished, um, because it's whether it's your cleaning products, candles, body lotion, makeup, all of this stuff, plastics.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: If you are still eating or cooking in plastics, you know, all of these things have xenoestrogens that imitate natural estrogens and can cause estrogenic effects.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: So, what this means is that these are estrogen mimickers and they are everywhere.
- 18:37SPEAKER_00: Pharmaceutical drugs, chemicals, and cleaning products, you know, hormonal residues in plastic water bottles or conventionally raised meat.
- 18:45SPEAKER_00: This is why, you know, meat and dairy, this is why it's very important to use grass-fed meat, organic meats, um, grass-fed dairy, and not to be eating a lot of those other stuff.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: Because honestly, there's a long list of toxins.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: I probably should do a whole episode on toxic things to avoid.
- 19:01SPEAKER_00: Um, but all of these things are going to make your hormone issues worse.
- 19:05unknown: Okay.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: Then we have being overweight or obese.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: So, oddly enough, being overweight contributes to your weight gain and your S like and your hormone imbalances, which further perpetuates the cycle.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: This one's also like the stress one.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: Hormone imbalances cause weight gain, but then weight gain further perpetuates hormone imbalances, and you're stuck, unfortunately, in this vicious cycle.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: And this is why, like, I have seen I don't know how many people, and like I know how frustrating it can be.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: That's why, like, please guys, get help.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: Like, work with me, get into well nourish, or work with a naturopath, or a functional medicine doctor, get yourself balanced because I know how hard it can be to do this alone, and to try to like Google and figure it all out, it can be really hard.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: So, the xenoestrogens that you're exposed to in your environment store in your fat tissue.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: So, all those things I just mentioned are stored in your fat, and carrying excess weight can then increase your risk of more hormonal imbalances because you are more insulin resistant, and when the estrogen becomes out of balance, it increases chronic inflammation, which we guys know inflammation contributes to this whole problem.
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: And then we have the fact that all these chemicals are further releasing things that are stored in your fat.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: So, when you find your ideal weight, your body can then maintain healthy levels of hormones.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: So, if you are overweight, you need to work on that itself to also help balance your hormones, balance your gut, and everything like that.
- 20:26SPEAKER_00: Okay, and then we have nutrient deficiencies.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: So, this is like the last little thing that I wanted to touch on when it comes to how the causes of the hormonal imbalances that are making your mood and your weight messed up.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: So we have vitamin like B6, B12, and folate, which really help to play a role in healthy estrogen metabolism, as well as omega-3s, which because they have to do with inflammation.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: So eating omega-3s decreases inflammation, and then that way, you know, the inflammation is kind of there.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: But if you are deficient in omega-3s, vitamin B6, B12, this is gonna contribute to your estrogen being out of whack.
- 21:01SPEAKER_00: If you are in the birth control, especially, this is gonna be out of whack.
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: So if you are in the birth control, you need to be on a supplement regimen that's going to fix all the damaging things that the birth control pill does to your body.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: Now, if you're unaware of the dangers of the birth control pill, definitely go back and listen to that episode because I did a whole episode on how it like destroy all everything it just kind of destroys in your body and how it wreaks havoc and kind of what to do.
- 21:24SPEAKER_00: So go and listen to that episode, but definitely making sure you're getting in your omega-3s, your B6, B12, and everything like that, so you are not nutrient deficient.
- 21:33SPEAKER_00: Okay, so that's hormones.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: Let's dive into a bit now into gut health.
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: Now, I do have a bunch of gut health episodes that I encourage you to go and listen to because I break down you know how gut health um ties to weight gain.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: So, how your gut health is connected to weight.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: So we know that the bacteria in our gut can have profound effects on our Weight in our metabolism.
- 22:01SPEAKER_00: And this is honestly through many different mechanisms, which I won't like bore you with on this episode to explain.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: Like, I had to learn that you know in med school, but I don't expect you guys to know.
- 22:10SPEAKER_00: But it's important for you to understand that like some bacteria extract more energy from food leading to weight gain, while other bacteria extract less energy leading to weight loss.
- 22:20SPEAKER_00: So they actually did studies where they took like gut bacteria from a thin mouse and they put it into a fat mouse, um, and that actually caused the like larger mouse to lose more weight.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: So this is because the bad gut bacteria, if your gut is off, if your gut is leaky, if you're not eating clean, it triggers inflammation.
- 22:40SPEAKER_00: And while you know some bacteria are anti-inflammatory, this does lead to an increase in the bad gut bacteria.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: And this inflammation from the leaky gut triggers insulin resistance, independent of your caloric intake, which means that even if your gut is leaky, if your gut is damaged, it's going to make you gain weight, even if you are eating clean, even if you are not eating a lot of calories.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: And this is also the problem I get, not the problem I get, the problem I see, sorry.
- 23:08SPEAKER_00: Um, people coming to me in the DMs saying I'm eating clean, you know, I'm only eating 1200 calories a day, but I'm not losing weight or I'm gaining weight.
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: Um, and you can see that it's really because of the gut imbalance that is contributing to that.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: So you need to, need to, need to heal your gut, heal that leaky gut so that you can lose weight and also to help your mood.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: Because as we know, your mood is tied to your gut.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: If you do not have gut health, you will you're more likely to be anxious, depressed.
- 23:35SPEAKER_00: And once you heal those things, and once you get rid of the foods that are contributing to leaky gut, you can heal that.
- 23:41SPEAKER_00: So it's very important to heal your gut.
- 23:42SPEAKER_00: And if you want more of a deep dive into that, definitely go listen to that episode.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: But that's like a brief explanation of how poor gut health can lead to weight gain and um mood health.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: Because don't forget, a lot of your neurotransmitters are made in your gut.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: If your gut is bad, you cannot make those neurotransmitters.
- 24:00SPEAKER_00: And then we have, of course, the energetics.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: So I did do a whole episode on the energetics of weight loss, which I highly recommend.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: Honestly, everyone go and listen to.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: Um, I think it's super interesting because people don't realize a the energy of weight loss, but like there's also the energy of weight loss, like weight weight on your arms has a different energy or a different energetic route than weight on your stomach or your thighs or your butt.
- 24:24SPEAKER_00: So don't listen to that episode.
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: But basically, in an effort to hide the vulnerable parts of yourself, you can literally wear the heavy emotions as weight on your body.
- 24:34SPEAKER_00: So the energy has to go somewhere.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: If you are not doing the emotional work and you're feeling shame, guilt, pain, lack of self-love, um, unworthiness, this manifests into pounds.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: So, you know, this is probably gonna feel very real for a lot of you who do quote unquote all the right things to lose weight or live healthy, yet don't see any progress because your conscious mind so badly wants to step into confidence and end the war with food on your body.
- 25:00SPEAKER_00: But on the other hand, your subconscious wants to stay hidden because it's deeply afraid of being seen and it's gonna draw on these negative associations.
- 25:08SPEAKER_00: So the fat cells are literally protecting you by forming a cushion between you and the world.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: So, rather kind of like I always use the analogy of bubble wrap to protect your delicate china.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Now, this is a useful defense mechanism, like your body is totally doing this to keep you safe, to keep you protected, even though like you physically don't want it because of the aesthetics of it, and also because of you know the health implications too, right?
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: So we got both.
- 25:33SPEAKER_00: Now, not only your energy, but if you're not protecting yourself from other people's energy, you're gonna end up wearing their energy as well.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: This is especially true if you are living with people who have their their energy off, if your family or friends or anyone close to you, you're gonna end up holding that on your body.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: So it's very important to do the emotional work and to do the emotional release.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: And you know, as much as like, yes, I'm into the you know, high vibes, keeping things positive, meditating, stuff like that, that doesn't mean not doing the deep work.
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: And you'll find that like I've had people drop like five to ten pounds in like under a week because we did like an emotional release where they actually release their guilt, their shame, and all of this.
- 26:17SPEAKER_00: And you know, we work through that and they rebuild their worthiness, and it's amazing how much your physical body can change when you do the emotional work.
- 26:25SPEAKER_00: Now, another thing I'm gonna add in is that oftentimes, if you know our mood is swinging, we're anxious, depressed, maybe we're crying, we're we're all over the place, and we're not really feeling a lot of that joy and love in our hearts.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: It's often because of emotions that have been stored in your body that you have not let out.
- 26:40SPEAKER_00: Things from childhood, from teenage years, maybe you were bullied and you know, all of these things, and until you release them, your mood is never gonna be stable.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: And I often find that people try to avoid doing this work because honestly, it's not easy.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: It's it's not all sunshine and rainbows.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: It for a lot of people involves you know bawling your eyes out for 45 minutes.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: And you know, that was me a couple weeks ago, and I had like a big emotional release, which was so needed because you need to release those emotions.
- 27:05SPEAKER_00: And I like to think about it like as a emotional workout.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: You know, we we eat healthy, maybe we're also exercising, moving our bodies, but we don't do the emotional exercise we need to do because we think we don't, or you know, we think we're too busy, or we distract ourselves with like Instagram or Netflix or something else, or you know, sometimes it alcohol and food that we actually distract ourselves with to avoid feeling emotions.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: But until you feel those emotions and until you move through them, you're gonna continue to hold on to weight, gain weight, have mood swings because think about it like a like a dam that's ready to burst.
- 27:37SPEAKER_00: And there's only so much like emotional stuff you can pour in before it bursts, and when it bursts, it bursts into mood swings, weight gain, anxiety, depression, and all of these things.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: So that's why it's important to tackle all of these aspects.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: But we can also see, I'm gonna explain more in the energetics episode, also like your energy and like your emotional health ties into your hormones.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: Because if your emotional health is off, your hormones will be off.
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: Your gut health, if your emotions are off, your gut health is also gonna be off because shame and guilt manifest in your gut and contribute to bloating, etc., constipation.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: So if you are feeling guilt and shame, you're gonna be constipated and then you're gonna be reabsorbing hormones.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: So, yes, like they're all also tied together, but they also feed off of each other, and that's why like it's so important to tackle all of these things.
- 28:19SPEAKER_00: So I really encourage you to like really sit down with yourself and ask yourself, okay, where do I stand in all of these categories?
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: Where do I need help?
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: Um, where can I get help and like seek to balance all these things?
- 28:31SPEAKER_00: And like, what have I not tackled yet?
- 28:33SPEAKER_00: Maybe I haven't tackled my hormones, maybe I haven't tackled my gut health.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: And if you're feeling overwhelmed and you don't know where to start, that's why you need to get into the extended well-nourished.
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: Because I opened it now because so many of you guys are struggling.

- 29:25SPEAKER_00: Where am I not dealing with my emotions?
- 29:27SPEAKER_00: Um, do I have some of these signs of hormonal imbalances?
- 29:30SPEAKER_00: Okay, maybe I should go and listen to her other episodes and you know, like see what more I can learn about myself and what I need to do to really bring my health into balance.
- 29:38SPEAKER_00: Because remember, guys, if you do not have your health, you have nothing.
