- 0:22SPEAKER_00: There's a common narrative among successful people that you have to be a morning person in order to do anything worthwhile.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: After all, a pretty good percentage of the world's most successful people get a very early start to their day, sometimes as early as 4 a.m.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: or 5 a.m.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: Case in point, Ernest Hemingway once said, When I'm working on a book or a story, I write every morning as soon after first light as possible.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: There's no one to disturb you, and it is cool or cold, and you come to your work and warm as you write.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: You read what you have written, and as you always stop when you know what's going to happen next, you go on from there.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: Now, if you want to lead a successful writing life, you could do worse than Ernest Hemingway write.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: However, that being said, let's look at the flip side, because for every successful writer who's an early bird, there's also another writer who's a night owl.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: The point is not to write at a certain time of day.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: The point is to write and create when your energy is at its peak.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Now, for most people, this is going to be in the morning, although your energy may peak at a different time of the day or night.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: So whether it's morning, afternoon, evening, late night, or somewhere in between, the point is to write at whatever time works best for you.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Now again, I'm not saying there's no room for change.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: I'm not saying that we shouldn't strive to learn from successful people.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: And I'm not saying that we should stay stuck in habits that are not working for us.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: However, there's something to be said for understanding how you're wired and moving with that energy, not against it.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: So what time of day works best for you?
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: That is the time that you should be writing.
