- 0:00Kathie (2): Have you ever walked into a room and instantly felt drained?
- 0:04Kathie (2): Not because anybody said anything terrible, and not because something happened, but because you could feel the emotional energy in the room pulling on you.
- 0:15Kathie (2): Or maybe you've noticed this online.
- 0:18Kathie (2): You scroll social media for a little bit, and suddenly you feel anxious, behind, dysregulated, emotionally exhausted, even though nothing technically happened to you.
- 0:32Kathie (2): I think a lot of people are unknowingly feeding emotional systems all day long, and I don't think most people realize how much energy they lose doing it.
- 0:43Kathie (2): That's what I wanna talk about today, because recently I had a huge realization.
- 0:49Kathie (2): The work I do around human patterns under pressure, you know, the workplace consulting, the emotional regulation, the nervous system work, my fitness background, and Reality Transurfing, they are all connected.
- 1:07Kathie (2): And honestly, I don't think I fully understood that until recently.
- 1:13Kathie (2): Welcome to the Kathie Owen Perspective podcast.
- 1:16Kathie (2): My name is Kathie Owen.
- 1:18Kathie (2): I'm a private consultant, speaker, author of the book Human Patterns Under Pressure, and somebody who has spent years observing human behavior inside workplaces, leadership environments, relationships, wellness culture, and high-pressure systems.
- 1:37Kathie (2): And years ago, I used to talk about Reality Transurfing all the time on this channel.
- 1:43Kathie (2): In fact, one of my most popular videos is about Reality Transurfing, and I will link it in the show notes and description below.
- 1:52Kathie (2): People found me through those conversations, but over the last few years, I got pulled more deeply into consulting, emotional regulation, and workplace dynamics, leadership psychology, the nervous system healing, all of it.
- 2:09Kathie (2): And recently, something clicked for me.
- 2:11Kathie (2): I realized I've been observing pendulums this entire time, not just intellectually, practically, inside organizations, inside relationships, inside social media, inside family systems, inside fitness culture, inside myself.
- 2:30Kathie (2): And what's interesting is I don't approach Reality Transurfing as manifestation.
- 2:37Kathie (2): I never really have.
- 2:40Kathie (2): I've always seen it as a framework for understanding energetic systems, emotional attachment, nervous system regulation, and the hidden forces that quietly pull people out of alignment with themselves.
- 2:53Kathie (2): That's a very different conversation, and honestly, it's one of the most important things I think I've ever understood.
- 3:01Kathie (2): What changed for me recently was, you're gonna laugh at this, boredom.
- 3:07Kathie (2): Seriously, boredom.
- 3:09Kathie (2): I started spending more time sitting quietly in model homes where I worked, and at first, it drove me crazy.
- 3:17Kathie (2): Every part of me wanted stimulation, scrolling, music, noise, content, something.
- 3:24Kathie (2): But instead of escaping the boredom, I started observing it.
- 3:29Kathie (2): And underneath the boredom, I found clarity.
- 3:33Kathie (2): Creativity started returning.
- 3:36Kathie (2): My nervous system started regulating differently.
- 3:39Kathie (2): My thoughts became quieter.
- 3:41Kathie (2): Even my dreams became calmer and more coherent.
- 3:46Kathie (2): And then one day it hit me.
- 3:48Kathie (2): I had stopped feeding pendulums, not through force, not because I became detached from life.
- 3:55Kathie (2): I simply stopped emotionally attaching to systems trying to pull me into reaction.
- 4:01Kathie (2): That changed everything.
- 4:04Kathie (2): So let's talk about pendulums for a second, because I know some people hear that word and immediately think it sounds mystical or abstract, or is it a clock?
- 4:13Kathie (2): I don't know.
- 4:15Kathie (2): But honestly, pendulums are incredibly observable.
- 4:20Kathie (2): A pendulum is basically a collective emotional system sustained by human attention, emotional reaction, and participation.
- 4:30Kathie (2): And once you understand this, you start seeing them everywhere.
- 4:34Kathie (2): Workplace negativity, political outrage, social media comparison, fear-based leadership, victim identities, family drama loops, scarcity thinking, hustle culture, gossip systems.
- 4:51Kathie (2): All of these gain energy through emotional participation.
- 4:56Kathie (2): And here's the important part.
- 4:58Kathie (2): Pendulums do not care whether your reaction is positive or negative.
- 5:04Kathie (2): They only require participation.
- 5:07Kathie (2): That line changed the way I see human behavior.
- 5:11Kathie (2): Because suddenly you realize the outrage feeds it, the obsession feeds it, the argument feeds it, the emotional rehearsal feeds it, even resistance feeds it.
- 5:24Kathie (2): That's why some people stay emotionally exhausted.
- 5:28Kathie (2): They are unconsciously participating in emotional systems all day long.
- 5:36Kathie (2): This becomes really obvious on social media, and honestly, this is one of the biggest pendulums I see right now.
- 5:42Kathie (2): Performance.
- 5:44Kathie (2): People performing success, performing healing, performing spirituality, performing leadership, performing confidence, performing fitness, and a lot of people are draining themselves trying to emotionally keep up with performance that are not even real.
- 6:04Kathie (2): I can feel it now when I scroll.
- 6:06Kathie (2): Some content leaves me grounded.
- 6:08Kathie (2): Other content leaves me dysregulated, and it's usually because the energy beneath it.
- 6:14Kathie (2): Validation-seeking, comparison, attachment, performance.
- 6:19Kathie (2): Performance is a big one, and what's fascinating is the pendulum rewards performance.
- 6:27Kathie (2): It rewards intensity.
- 6:29Kathie (2): It rewards visibility, emotional hooks, reactivity, but presence is different.
- 6:36Kathie (2): Presence is quiet.
- 6:38Kathie (2): Presence is coherent.
- 6:40Kathie (2): Presence doesn't need to capture people emotionally, and this ties directly into my work.
- 6:48Kathie (2): Because when I walk into organizations, I'm not just observing people.
- 6:52Kathie (2): I'm observing the emotional systems operating underneath the people.
- 6:58Kathie (2): That's what human patterns under pressure really is.
- 7:01Kathie (2): I'm observing the hidden emotional structures shaping behavior inside environments.
- 7:08Kathie (2): This is why certain workplaces feel exhausting, not because the work itself is necessarily hard, but because the emotional system is dysregulated.
- 7:18Kathie (2): You can feel it.
- 7:20Kathie (2): Fear-based communication, urgency addiction, burnout bonding, silence replacing truth, performative meetings, leaders unconsciously regulating through pressure.
- 7:34Kathie (2): Some companies are being run by pendulums more than leadership.
- 7:39Kathie (2): And once you see this, you cannot unsee it.
- 7:44Kathie (2): People stop thinking clearly.
- 7:46Kathie (2): Stress becomes identity.
- 7:49Kathie (2): Pressure becomes culture.
- 7:51Kathie (2): Employees start performing safety instead of speaking honestly, and eventually, the nervous system of the organization becomes reactive.
- 8:01Kathie (2): That's why emotional regulation matters so much in leadership.
- 8:07Kathie (2): Because leaders don't just influence strategy, they influence energetic environments.
- 8:14Kathie (2): So this also changed my relationships because one of the biggest things I realized is I don't have to emotionally merge with every environment I enter.
- 8:25Kathie (2): That was huge for me.
- 8:26Kathie (2): I used to think caring meant absorbing.
- 8:29Kathie (2): I thought love meant emotional merging.
- 8:32Kathie (2): Now I understand something very different.
- 8:35Kathie (2): You can love someone without feeding the pendulum operating around them.
- 8:40Kathie (2): That is emotional maturity, not detachment.
- 8:45Kathie (2): Awareness.
- 8:46Kathie (2): Because once you start observing emotional systems instead of unconsciously entering them, you conserve enormous amounts of energy.
- 8:57Kathie (2): Enormous.
- 8:59Kathie (2): You've got mental energy, emotional energy, creative energy, nervous system energy.
- 9:05Kathie (2): And this is the beautiful part.
- 9:07Kathie (2): When you stop feeding pendulums, you start hearing yourself again.
- 9:12Kathie (2): Your nervous system settles.
- 9:14Kathie (2): Your intuition sharpens.
- 9:16Kathie (2): Your creativity returns.
- 9:19Kathie (2): You stop needing constant stimulation.
- 9:22Kathie (2): You stop needing emotional intensity all the time.
- 9:26Kathie (2): You stop reacting to every thought.
- 9:29Kathie (2): And personally, I didn't become less caring.
- 9:32Kathie (2): I became less capturable.
- 9:36Kathie (2): That sentence means a lot to me.
- 9:38Kathie (2): Because I think many highly empathetic people are not actually compassionate.
- 9:45Kathie (2): They are emotionally entangled.
- 9:47Kathie (2): And there is a difference.
- 9:50Kathie (2): One drains you, the other grounds you.
- 9:53Kathie (2): Honestly, this feels like a breakthrough piece for me personally because I finally understand how all of these areas of my life connect: reality transurfing, human patterns under pressure, emotional regulation, nervous system work, fitness, leadership psychology, presence.
- 10:16Kathie (2): They're all connected through awareness, through observation Through learning how to stop unconsciously feeding emotional systems that drain us.
- 10:28Kathie (2): And I think this conversation matters now more than ever because the modern world is constantly competing for your emotional energy, your outrage, your fear, your comparison, your attention, your nervous system.
- 10:45Kathie (2): And most people think their exhaustion is coming from life itself, but often they are exhausted because they are feeding emotional systems that were never truly theirs to carry.
- 10:59Kathie (2): All right, that's my episode for today.
- 11:01Kathie (2): I trust that you found it helpful.
- 11:03Kathie (2): And if you know someone who can benefit from this, please share it with them.
- 11:06Kathie (2): I really believe this conversation can help people.
- 11:11Kathie (2): I also wrote a very detailed blog post on this topic that includes bonus resources, examples, and deeper explanations.
- 11:20Kathie (2): That link is in the show notes and description below.
- 11:23Kathie (2): And if you followed me from Reality Transurfing Days, welcome back.
- 11:28Kathie (2): I think we're about to go much deeper now.
- 11:31Kathie (2): Thank you for being here, and I'll see you in the next episode.
