- 0:39[SPEAKER_04]: There's a drive right on the Battle of Evan Carter.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_04]: What a amazing, he is having.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, it's that's not hard.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_04]: He's a liar, a liar, a liar, a liar, a liar, a liar, a liar, a liar.
- 0:51[UNKNOWN]: What's up, guys?
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: Mike Traut.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: And this is the sports car C.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.E.EE.EE.EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
- 1:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so this is the first time for us, man.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_02]: You and I are holding down the fort today on the pod.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_02]: As we know, Bubba is on the summer hiatus.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_02]: And Kern is traveling this week.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's out west with the family.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: And so we just said, hey, little Matt now jump on and we'll do a little market update and we'll just treat this like our little version of the sports car to see you.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I think there's gonna be a ton of good value here for our listeners.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_02]: And we wanna create a little bit of context as to why I feel like we can add value, but we'll do that in a second.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 1:29[SPEAKER_02]: Matthew, as you know, the sports car CEO has our tradition of the little weekly roundtable.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_02]: So being that you're the guest today, you're also my son is a very unique situation.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know what you kind of go first and talk about your week.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is the first time I've actually done it.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I listen to the podcast every week.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's like current, short as often the roundtable.
- 1:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's your classic quote, but I'm glad to start us off today.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: So I've had a pretty busy week.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_01]: I played four basketball games in the last two days.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: I've had a tournament for my school.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: Good term that we went for now, so that was pretty good.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: And rough week on the card front, I will say, rough week, but we'll get it out later.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: But I bought some really good cards recently and we had some massive alchins that we crushed it on on fanatics.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_01]: So had a flea Jordan rookie end in a big cookie end.
- 2:14[SPEAKER_01]: So that was plus this week, so this week's pretty good.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: What about you big Matt?
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's it's been eventful right, you know, with you in the summer league basketball.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's fun.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_02]: So for our listeners, Matthew's going to cruise.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I'm going to say Matthew's going to do a sophomore year and you had a high school.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_02]: My alma mater and his brothers, the twins are upcoming rising freshmen.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_02]: So all three of them made the assembly basketball team.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_02]: So is the first time for me as a dad, seeing my three sons wearing my former alma mater jersey playing on the same court together.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: That was very, very cool.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: Something that, you know, when you have three boys 10, 12 years ago, you think about and it's like holy cow we're here.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_02]: So pretty nostalgic for me.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: I have been moving into some stability with work.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: things are getting a little bit stable now with the new additions of some, you know, new new hires and new salespeople and stuff.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: So starting to feel like I'm getting in rhythm and that's good.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_02]: From a card front, you know, we do a lot of our stuff together.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_02]: You kind of run the show when it comes to most of the buying, but we had a really cool collection falling our lap this week.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_02]: It was a family friend husband and passed away.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_02]: And it's some cool stuff, man, it's it's, you know, lower end, but everything from mid 60s up through like late 70s, a lot of football, there's some hockey in there, some basketball, some baseball, that's always neat for me, man.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: I love I love going back through the nostalgia of old cards.
- 3:36[SPEAKER_02]: I get burnt out with the modern stuff and with the buying and selling.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_02]: So there are cards scattered all over the room up here, which is not your favorite, but it's something that I
- 3:46[SPEAKER_04]: You know, kind of appreciate and enjoy.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_04]: So that was kind of cool.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_02]: And we're getting ready for fanatics fast and the national.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: And so that's that's kind of a little bit what's going on.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: But that's said, man, I want to talk about that.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: We can't go without mentioning the boat.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: We've probably went on the boat like four times like that.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: We did.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: We did.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: I think I mentioned that last week.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_02]: We got the boat.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, yeah, I didn't know if you'd mentioned it, but that was bad.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and then we did.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: We did.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_02]: And it's been a lot of fun, man.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's something for us to reconnect on.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we had a boat when you guys were young.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: And then four went the boat over the last five, six, seven years.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: And so yeah, it's been good getting back on it.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_02]: So super excited about that.
- 4:19[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm glad you guys enjoyed it back then.
- 4:21[SPEAKER_02]: I thought y'all would enjoy it when you were five and six.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: And you were like, didn't enjoy it.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: And I love it.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: But now we can all do it together.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_02]: I got to take you and grace and a wide out for sunrise in the ocean on the boat.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_02]: That was super cool.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: And just a good memory for me.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_02]: So thank you for bringing that up.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_02]: But yeah, I want to talk today a little bit of a backstory for us, at least to set up some context.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_02]: And then I want to talk about some of these scams that you've run into lately.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to talk a little bit about market trends and what you're seeing in the market.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_02]: And then we're going to talk about just in general like collections and collectibles and stuff.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_02]: So for those who do not know, little mat is the genesis of our card story.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: And he came to me when he was 12, and he had been watching Ryan Trayhan on YouTube, and Ryan Trayhan's a guy who basically trades up from like nothing to a penny, to a pencil, all the way up to like a house or a car, and a little matter.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_02]: I had been watching this guy on YouTube and he said, Dad, I think I want to get into sports cards.
- 5:17[SPEAKER_02]: I've been watching a lot of videos and I want to do a trade-up challenge to go from zero to $10,000.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_02]: At the time, I thought it was silly.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_02]: I had my old junk wax cards, but I felt very compelled that this was something I was supposed to do.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: And since then, dude, you know, we have sold multiple millions of dollars of sports cards.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_02]: We've established Hamhouse Sports as I think a very reputable name and brand in the hobby.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_02]: you have had the opportunity to interview Gary V, be around Rubin and Mayhand and so forth that these big events, you've had the opportunity to interview these athletes and it's been a huge, huge journey.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: But one of the things that I think so important is like remembering where we began because I think people look at it now and they go, oh, you just buy these big cards or whatever.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: That's not the case.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: So I was wanting to give you the opportunity to talk about maybe a reflection on
- 6:04[SPEAKER_02]: your journey through cards over the last few years and why you feel like you have credibility to be on a podcast to talk to people about the card market.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, man.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, to setting the least cards change my life.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, cards is something I do every single day and I love it.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_01]: And we, I mean,
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: I've started new challenge called Matt 2 million on my Instagram page and we've had all the comments recently like, oh, how are you doing this?
- 6:29[SPEAKER_01]: You're just a kid.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_01]: And this is exactly how.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: So three years ago, four years ago, I think it was summer 2022.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_01]: So actually four years ago, wow, I restarted buying cards.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: And to say that we are buying the best cards in existence.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: We were buying La Mello Ball Collegiate, cracked ice rookies and thank them we were ballers.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: And we're fine.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_01]: We're making bad investments, basically.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: But we started from nothing.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't put a single dollar into it.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: All the money that we got came from me doing odd jobs and us selling stuff around the house.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: I saw some kayaks and we sold some shoes and a bike.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: And we took all that and we started buying.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, one of the first cards that I sold for profit, I bought a Zion Williamson for $30.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: and I sold it for $70 and kept trading up and trading up and getting the bigger cards.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: And then my dad saw, wow, you've been doing really good with this Matthew.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: So he gave me $500 to start my own thing without MF Sports.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: Just can you turn 500 and what can you turn it into?
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: And then I turned that 500 and what would you say, year?
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like 60 70 grand in that year, then we then we joined forces again.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: I took that.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: We took 70,000 and the others, but we've made with handouts for us and we combined and 2025 was amazing.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure our total numbers, but we probably did about seven hundred and seventy thousand dollars in sales last year.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then 2026 is going to be by far our biggest year today and what you said number was we've done so far here today I just ran sales numbers here today we've done $645,000 in total sales.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: It's that we've run through quite a few cards and
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: So we share that backstory to tell people like Listen, it doesn't matter if you're dealing in $30 cards, $50 cards, or $30,000 cards, we've done all of it.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I've sorted hand sorted collections, little Matt, his hustled Pokemon cards.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's just, you know, we've been there and so we can kind of relate.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_02]: And so we're bringing that to the table.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: This isn't about us, look at us.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's just context, right?
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: So people know, so Matt, you ought to ask you, what do you think makes you great in sports cards?
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's a great question.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I would just say studying the market.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: So knowing the market, but also studying people and making connections, connections is the biggest biggest thing in sports cards.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: Because if you know who is looking for what and what other people have, like my dad gets on me for looking at Instagram stories always, but I always know who wants this card and who has this card.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: So, I've had multiple situations where I've been able to just connect a buyer and seller and then give it a finercy for multiple thousands of dollars just because I know who has what.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: So, making connections with people and knowing what people certain people have and knowing what certain people want, I'd say is what makes me great and then my sense of the market.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like, multiple times a day, I go on card ladder.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even have a card.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: I store over 2,500 sports and I just look at comps.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: from all sports because I want to see what cards are selling for now.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why I'd say I know the market.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: So the market and connections and people.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_02]: So what would you say is your your like favorite part of the hobby?
- 9:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like what do you truly love about cards?
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: A few things.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: Number one.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: Negotiation.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: Negotiating a deal is I know you absolutely hate it.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's one of the funnest things ever when you're going back and forth with someone we found a shake your hand Like it's a great feeling so negotiation.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'd say meeting new people some of my favorite memories from sports cards hasn't even been from like at a car chill
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: at dinner with buddies after the car show like there's so many good memories made after they're like one that pops in my head was like New York City dinner with some of the all guys are like after Friday at the national last year with me and you and Grace and Wyatt sit down at mornings and that meal is amazing about it.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: Like that moment right there we just had the biggest sports car day of our lives.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_01]: And we were just standing there and just like, wow, I don't know.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: That was one of my favorite sports car moments, and it didn't even involve sports cards if that made sense.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know what I think super funny is like, you know, the fact that you are 15-year kid and you're an old soul, I mean, you know, you talk a lot more like a 30-year-old than you do a 15-year-old.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_02]: But one of the things that's really interesting to me is, you don't see you being star-struck, like,
- 10:41[SPEAKER_02]: The celebrity thing doesn't really do a whole lot for you.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_02]: Have you ever thought about a moment in sports cards with us being at these big shows and stuff with the whole influencer culture or whatever?
- 10:51[SPEAKER_02]: Have you ever been like, let's see, nervous around somebody, but have you ever had that kind of like, oh my gosh, like, that kind of star-struck thing?
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: No, I mean, the one time I will say that I was nervous was when I was, I would say nervous, I would say like it was when we were at the fanatic fest and we got taken down by early with me.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't, but it wasn't star struck in a bad way.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: It was like, it was like holy crap, like, I'm down here before everyone else is down here.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm literally five feet away from Brady's Super Bowl, came more gears.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like that was more like, that was like the star struck memory.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but like it's it's interesting to me that you're dealing all these cards and you know you've interviewed a variety of different people celebrities a lot of influences in the hobby You've been featured on a lot of channels and stuff like this and you don't seem to be swayed by it I think a lot of people kind of get star struck and they get in all and that's something I've always really been like fascinated by because like I grew up in a culture like you don't really get into the whole
- 11:52[SPEAKER_01]: And it's common to tell you this, I haven't met Steph Curry yet.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: So we might have a star strong moment when I want to meet Steph Curry because Yeah, needs your guy.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_02]: Well, for sure.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: So we go back to the question you were asking, go back to the question.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: You asked me quite, I don't know if I answered it fully.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was going to say what, what do you love about the hobby and you said negotiations and then you said the memory.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: So that was the question.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: And then one more thing I'd add to that is watching other people that I've helped do good in cards like watching my brother's like you're.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: like watching my brothers make deals at card shows like makes me so happy because I like I don't say it's in a private way, but like I taught them everything they know.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're watching this, you know exactly who you are, but they come they used to come to me on every single card you'll they made and I've coached them and taught them how to make card deals for years now.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: And they just told me that they made over $10,000.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_01]: just using the same class fees that I've like helped teach them and I tell them still to the stay tell what to buy.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: So when I see other people it's kind of like a surreal moment like it's not just me who's like because who's doing good like multiple other people who I'm helping are doing both benefiting some sports cards.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and that's always been something that's been big for us, you know, I've always told you to reach back.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: If you've been blessed enough to do well, turn around and go help somebody else, you know, and not be like hyper competitive about the deal.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's something that's funny.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_02]: I want to want to share this just as like a dad when you were.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, dude, if we showed video of you and you were like four or five or six, like you would literally melt because you're probably embarrassed by it now because you're 15, but you've always been a very animated kid and you've always been kind of intrigued by, you know, being on camera or performing or whatever and I go back to and you were five or six, you used to wake up and you'd like dad, did you realize that, you know, nine hines,
- 13:45[SPEAKER_02]: you know is averaging 76 yards a game and you were like it's Steph Curry scored 32 last night like you always studied stat lines and now it's well it's so my point is is it was like you studied stat lines and so I said hey buddy why don't we just start talking about what you love which is sports and so we started hamhouse college game day on Saturday mornings you and I would get on camera.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: We would talk about football games upcoming.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_02]: We would kind of make picks and joke and laugh or whatever.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_02]: But that was before cards ever existed.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_02]: And all I was doing is a dad is celebrating something that you love to do and putting you in an environment where you could do that thing well.
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: And now I watch you like on camera interviewing whoever or being, and I'm like, man, these were like good investments that I made in your life back then that now to see you like take it to the next level has been like super super rewarding for me.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: So I would just say to the dads out there like don't be hesitant at all to invest in what your kids love at a very early age, even if it's something that doesn't make sense to you in our case doing videos on Saturday morning about college football games.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_02]: because now we literally have media badges to go to fanatics, fest, like, holy cow.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like I never would have imagined back then on our porch on Saturday, you know what I'm saying?
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, that's the cool moment for sure.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: And how, like, I mean, I used to like, even before that, I used to do your videos with you, like on the front porch.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'd always want to like,
- 15:16[SPEAKER_02]: be a part of it.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: So just that's a cool little for all right.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_02]: So let's list out into some like practical, topical stuff for cards that people can grab hold up.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_02]: So you got scammed pretty pretty heavy this week.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: I only talk about that.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I want to talk to you in general about scams because I think scams are something you have to be wary of and mindful of.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_02]: The hobby is a place of a lot of bad actors.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_02]: But talk about what happened this week.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: And let's kind of
- 15:42[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go through these quick as possible because believe it now, I had four deals go wrong this week.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: And one that I'm going to share about it happen a few weeks ago.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: So first deal it went wrong.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: Basically, I had some cards on Instagram.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: I bought them from this guy.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: It was a Tom Brady and a Kobe Bryant rookie.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: And the guys didn't realize I was from the US.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: And he was from Canada.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: And he didn't want to pay like the expensive shipping fee.
- 16:03[SPEAKER_01]: So he backed out of that.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: But like it was, I get it because he didn't know.
- 16:07[SPEAKER_01]: So there's one deal.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: The next deal is we bought a 1933 Gaudy Bay Ruth Red, a car that we've been looking for for a while and I had the intent like I thought the guy said, hey, I'm an overnight which I think if you ship a $10,000 car and you don't overnight it respectfully like I don't want to be buying cars.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like I say that with all respect because in this guy, he told me he's going to overnight it and he didn't and I simply asked him I said, hey, I thought there's going to be overnight it and he refunded us the money because I was in patient that I couldn't wait two days for his car.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: So that's the second situation.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: now the worst two situations.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: So we're buying cars for someone right now and the guy that I'm buying for gets a package in the mail already open and he sends me a picture and he says, what was supposed to be on this package?
- 16:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, you serious.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: So we had a $7,500 Tom Brady rookie stolen in the mail, which is not good at all.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: And then last but not least, I got scan on a $10,000 Michael Jordan rookie about a 1986 fleer Jordan PSA 7 for $10,000 and I got a pair of Kevin Durant shoes in the mail.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: So add so awful.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: So four tough deals over the past week.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_02]: Quite frankly, we've had some scans in the past but nothing to this extent.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: The worst one I can think of is we got scammed on like a lasra mantest speckle PSA 10 for $300 back and we've got our money back You know what I'm gonna add a tip right here my tip if you of how to find if there's a scammer Smart scammer what it does, but dumb scammer it's like this how you find this is what me and my daddy's always to Scammers all like especially in Facebook groups you'll post hey, I'm looking for a Tom Brady bookies and they'll send you Tom Brady bookies in your message
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: Well, say, you find a random card for us.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_01]: It was the 1986 flea, Kelly, your Puka rookie.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: No one in the world has that card, so we would say, hey, do you have a 1986 flea, Kelly, Puka?
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: And if they sent us that card, like, oh, yeah, I have it.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: That means that when you go screenshot it, and they're like, trying to be a suit, that's one way that me and my dad used to find out people's cameras.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a tip.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_02]: So again, Matthew, I'm your dad to understand you talk so fast.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: So one of the things that I was just going to reiterate there is if you're buying a card for, if you're looking for a specific card and somebody sends you that card, you can get them to coin the card, which is put the picture of the card, you know, with a coin or the date or your name or whatever, but Photoshop and AI are so good now.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_02]: It's crazy and that's even changed recently.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: But,
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: You know, again, buying with protection, having insurance, you know, goods and services, making sure you're putting notes down, all this kind of stuff.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_02]: And don't hesitate to ask questions, but one of the things we did do is we asked people to, hey, we're looking for this card.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_02]: Can you show it to us?
- 18:49[SPEAKER_02]: And it's a random, you know, Kelly Trapuka rookie from 86 Flier.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_02]: And if they showed us that card, we're like, okay, we're just messing with them now.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_02]: But anyway, what would you say you've learned from the deals that you got scammed on this week?
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like, especially on the, the Brady deal, that all that show news that every package I ship needs to be UPS, second day AR or UPS overnight, that's all that the ocean.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: But the other deal with the Jordan, I, I think that I paid goods and services, so I think I'll get, so always pay goods and services and always pay on a credit card.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's probably what that deal should.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_02]: So one of the things, well, one of the things is when you buy from auction houses, I know you don't like buying from auction houses traditionally.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_02]: You like deals offline, because you don't like the fees, because you're looking for the best margin possible.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_02]: Would you say that's fair?
- 19:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_02]: So one of the things is is have all of these deals happened outside of an auction house.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, everything going.
- 19:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_02]: So you know, you've got to be mindful when you're buying like that's why a lot of guys who are busy businessmen.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_02]: They don't want to buy outside of auction houses because you open the door for this kind of problem.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_02]: So it's just a just kind of a real, real thumb.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: I want to talk a bit about market trends, okay?
- 20:11[SPEAKER_02]: I would argue that you know the market as well as anybody.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_02]: You're so well-studied and well-read in the market.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's amazing.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: I can see you walk up to a case at a show and you can say, hey, well, you do 400 on that.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, what even is that?
- 20:24[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, because it's something you've seen or you looked at.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_02]: Right now, this predominantly has been a Bowman podcast.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_02]: We talk a lot about baseball, but it feels like the baseball market's kind of dead right now.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: What's your take on that and what's kind of your take on the overall market right now?
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah, baseball cards are dead.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have I maybe have five Bowman cards when I had 150 three months ago.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm out like I sold out a Bowman now.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm on I'm on I'm on to a new season.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: I know a lot of our listeners do Bowman.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: The problem with me for Bowman is like right now is when you should be buying Bowman.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like if I was smart, I'd be slamming buying Bowman right now.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: If you have your list of guys, go buy him right now.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: But the Bowman market is just super soft.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: Because when I know, no one's all kids here, you're like, I don't want to talk to fast when I say this, but everyone has the same plan when it comes to Bowman.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: You buy in November, December, and January, and you sell February, March, April.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: So everyone who wanted to sell, auction their cards, they sold them private.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: They're gone, they're out.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: So when those guys are out and they're kind of out of Bowman,
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: Like, did that make sense, Dad?
- 21:35[SPEAKER_02]: Like, like, when everyone... Yeah, yeah, I mean, and again, it's not nobody's buying boom.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: And there's still a lot of people that are buying boom.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_02]: And a lot of our listeners are buying boom.
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: And what you're saying is the hype around boom and is not accelerated right now.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: And so it's more strategic buys with longer holds, which is outside of our general model.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: Well, another thing too is there's no prospects that are performing great right now.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: Like if there were prospects that were hitting bombs every night, like we see their cards have a spike, but we weren't we don't really have a prospect that's like crushing right now.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, McGonagull Connor weather will
- 22:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, you start to, well, they've already debuted.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_02]: And now they're kind of in the mix.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_02]: And you go to the next guy.
- 22:16[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you know, Zyer hopes playing well, hit in the ball.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think Cerotas playing well, hit in the ball.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_02]: Modays had a pretty good spring.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_02]: But to your point, there was such a bottleneck up top of all of this talent last year.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: And right now, it just seems a little bit more spread out.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_02]: And I think another thing that's affecting the market is people see how much the carger dropping in value
- 22:39[SPEAKER_02]: in general, that the game has become an earlier game.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like, there are moments completely changed game because, like, back then, the only people that ball boomer and were people that bought and they would hold long-term and then sell.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now, there's so many people that are in Bowman, the same rate, like, Bowman is the new downtown of Kabum craze.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you all remember it, but everyone got the downtown of Kabum's and were flip, flip, flip.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: Now, there's a lot of people that just flip
- 23:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's interesting and like I said, it's made me a little bit more reluctant to, you know, dive in.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_02]: So in lieu of baseball kind of being a bit down right now, I mean, what would you say kind of the market is trending toward?
- 23:20[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's the goats.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: Goats are the only thing that are up right now, really.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you get because, and here's why, like, when be everyone's saved, you're didn't when the MBA final.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: So his markets down.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: Drake May, everyone saved your football, then it went into the Super Bowl, so those two markets are kind of down, so goats, and we're seeing the biggest spike on a goat market since the covid boom in 2021, like the Michael Jordan flier rookie has almost doubled in the last six months.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: What if he's driving that pump like I I don't know if I it's not chilling but like people are there's two things people are finally starting to realize if I don't get in right now I might never be able to get in again that so you have true collectors who want the card like I sold a micro Jordan rookie sticker PS and I do a collector this weekend.
- 24:09[SPEAKER_01]: because he really wanted the card.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: So that was a perfect example of that.
- 24:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I would say people starting a realize true value on these goat rookies.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: They've always been under that.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't know why Brady Bowman Crumptains were 10k of the nation.
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like, Brady Bowman Crumptain at 10k and a Jordan Fleer tan at 250k.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you're telling me, Brady, like, I think Brady Bowman Crumptains are like finally starting to get where they should be.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: And they're like 25k.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_02]: deal with the populations a lot larger than the Jordan PSA 10.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's only like like three or four times.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: I mean again, so so you're saying the the the goat market.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_02]: So you're talking, you know, Kobe five players.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_01]: We're like five to ten players.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: Kobe Jordan Brady LeBron Ruth Manel Gretzky Otani.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_01]: I put Otani in that list.
- 25:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I think too you're seeing a lot of capital going into rare assets, older assets, you know, because my age guys go back to the goats that they knew growing up and what their parents talked about or whatever, and you just don't have anybody in the modern market, this kind of like moving the needle.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_02]: So a lot of the money is flooded back into the older stuff, you know, well.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll tell you why like, like a guy like, oh, kangaroo, we didn't put griffy in there.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_01]: Griffy's definitely on that list.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: But not even talking about those goats talking about other players from that era, like Walter Peyton rookies and Joe Montana rookies and the bird Irving Magic rookies, like those chords are up almost double as well.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like all really good play, like all of those really good rookies are stained strong.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so what's your take on like this being sustainable?
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, like I said, you've been in the hobby now for a while when you start to see cards that you used to get by for seven eight k to and 15 k now like what does it make you feel?
- 26:01[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I have so many stories of cards.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_01]: I even sold two three like I have cards of sort of national for 2500 that won just over 13 k. What was that?
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I told the 2012 Tom Brady Prism Silver.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: Actually, I sold two cards in the same deal.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: I sold the 2012 Tom Brady Prism Silver PSNI.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: I think, 20, 2500, maybe 3K, 1 to 12 for 13, 8.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: And then I had
- 26:25[SPEAKER_02]: Was that a call we bought from David?
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, we bought it off another guy, but David was like trying to buy it.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: But then we had a Jordan, a like star, a random star, Jordan PSA7.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_01]: It was like 2500, sort of for I paid 24, total 26, 300, $300, just so for like 12 can auction last night.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I stole those two in the same deal for five games, I might have that.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_02]: That's crazy.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like just like cars like that in the market like I sold a Brady caboom three months ago and a lot for 5k and they're doing like 11k right So you know if our game has been by and get out there is some value in holding but at the same time not Bowman It's been the goat type stuff, but then again you take like the Jordan East West Refractor like we we'd dined it and we sold it like it hadn't really gone up Well
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'll go ahead and tell you right now.
- 27:17[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to make money by the Jordan Kobe East West refractor, you think that's a buy right now.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm telling you right now, this is the buy of the Kobe because when you see everything else going crazy and this one's not up, that that's what that's going to be my tip for today.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to make money sports cards, there's a card I'm buying on eBay tonight.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to sell.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to see my comp.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_01]: If you find out the card great, you've gotten, but I'm going to buy tonight.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_01]: There hasn't
- 27:42[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of stayed flat when the, when the player's market is way up.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_01]: So if you can find a certain card and player that's flat when the, he, the player's market, it'll eventually catch up.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: I bet PSA 10, East West, Chloe, Jordan, Fractors by the end of this year, 30.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: So I think, I think a lot of times, you people are so stingy on comp.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_02]: I think one of the things that we've still learning, I don't think we've learned it completely, but like being willing to pay full comp on low pop rare stuff,
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, like don't be afraid to buy it, you know, and it doesn't even have to be like a low-pop asset just an asset You see going up in general like and you what about an 86th layer those aren't a low-pop But like if you would have bought an 86th layer like a few months ago, they're way up like yeah So what what do what are the what are the factors that you think influenced the value of cards ultimately like what are the key factors?
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it goes back to the old saying, everything's worth what someone's willing to pay for it.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: And people are willing to pay a lot of money for Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: And like I feel like, I don't, I guess a great question, like, what's driving these factors?
- 28:50[SPEAKER_01]: There's some type of pump, pump, swashill involved, there has to be to this market.
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think it's all pump or shilling.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like, definitely some of it is.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_01]: But there's too much money in these goat markets to let it go down.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'll say that.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_02]: Right, so I just wrote down five things, right?
- 29:06[SPEAKER_02]: Rarity.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: Number two, the player.
- 29:09[SPEAKER_01]: The grade, grades on there.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: You would say the grade will grade would function with rarity.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_02]: And then I said the set.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_02]: I promised that's right.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_02]: And then the actually like a Jordan Flier Rookie is not rare, right?
- 29:25[SPEAKER_02]: But the set and the set's not necessarily, I mean, outside of Jordan, Jordan's what makes the set is just an iconic card.
- 29:32[SPEAKER_01]: Well, all right, well, let me ask you this.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: This is like, so I bought a Tom Brady Fleeyer showcased out of 2000.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: Remember that card to be just nine hundred percent.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_01]: That car's not up a thing, but Brady Bowman Crooms that there's a million off are almost double.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_02]: So why is that?
- 29:48[SPEAKER_01]: Because people are pumping the the bones because there's more of them.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: You can't pump a car.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_01]: There's 2,000 of them.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: You can pump a car.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_01]: There's 20,000 of them.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_02]: Interesting.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: I do, like, why is the grippy upper deck?
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: PSI 10s, why are they up a thousand for no reason?
- 30:04[SPEAKER_01]: Why is the Jordan 86 clear?
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: Why are the Kobe tops up?
- 30:07[SPEAKER_01]: All the big grail cards are up and all the, like, yeah, like, some of the other, like Jordan inserts are up, Kobe inserts are up.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: But like, all the other ones aren't really up that much.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like, just look thing about Brady's market.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you remember the EX 2000 I bought from David?
- 30:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that card's not up at all.
- 30:24[SPEAKER_01]: That card should be way more than it is.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_02]: So you're saying that there is a factor in the market that's influencing it, which we'll call it hype.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_02]: You call it pump or shill or whatever.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_02]: Like whatever that thing is, you think that thing is responsible for a lot of the...
- 30:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, like 1,000%.
- 30:40[SPEAKER_01]: 1,000%.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: Do you think it's like collective like do you feel like it's is it just people wanting to get in and going after the rare stuff what do you think it is I mean or do you feel like it's like some kind of it's definitely both because like everyone gets on the train like a perfect example like do you remember the curry the curry train last year.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: No one wanted Steph Curry and then after the national suddenly, everyone goes, oh, I want Curry.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: I want a Curry Cremor Fractor and Curry Cremor Fractor is double.
- 31:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, poor me who wanted it for my PC.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: I'm never going to be able to get one because they doubled in price.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_02]: It's like the gas shortage theory.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_02]: If all of a sudden the news puts out there's a gas shortage, there's all of the sudden the lines are full of the gas station and there actually is a gas shortage.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_02]: You see what I'm saying?
- 31:24[SPEAKER_02]: It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_02]: It's like
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: exactly.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, it's fun, man, guess it's a little story.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_02]: So you know who Billy Graham was, right?
- 31:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: I was him and as Nate wrote.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 31:34[SPEAKER_02]: You did him in that play.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_02]: You know, one of the things that's interesting about Billy Graham.
- 31:37[SPEAKER_02]: Billy Graham was basically a nobody.
- 31:39[SPEAKER_02]: He was a traveling preacher and he was preaching a tent revival in, I think, in L.A. And I can't remember the guy's name, but it's the guy who ran the newspaper in L.A.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_02]: Billy Graham was preaching there and I'd have to go and research it, but anyway, that guy who owned the newspaper, he saw Billy Graham preaching a tent revival and he sent a message to his publishers or his printers on the paper and the printer he told them, he said, two words, cuff Graham.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_02]: Basically,
- 32:12[SPEAKER_02]: puff gram building up make a big deal out of this traveling preacher who's here in L.A. or whatever.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_02]: The next day Billy Graham was on the front page of the newspaper and ever since that moment Billy Graham became Billy Graham.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_02]: And it was this icon, this kind of like mogul, you newspaper guy who two words puff gram.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like with a card market, there's there's certain people that have that kind of leverage who start to puff a certain player or certain
- 32:42[SPEAKER_01]: Can I give you a perfect example of where that happens and where the people make their money and where I don't want you to lose?
- 32:48[SPEAKER_01]: For example, Vikram and Minyama might be one of the greatest basketball players I've ever laid my eyes on.
- 32:52[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's a generational talent, but everyone, I know people that were buying dozens of his prism silver PSA 10s for
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: $3K, $3K, $3500, and it's just simple math.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: If you buy 10 of a car at three, and then go buy one of them at $4,500, your dollar cost average is still $3,200, and now you have 10 cards that are worth $4,500.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_01]: So people were doing that with Windy, and as soon as they got out, Windy Prism Silver's are back down to $2,500.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_01]: So every, I mean, it's just, it's not hard to see how they're in the market.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like people are pump pumpin' and dumping.
- 33:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's exactly what you did.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_02]: Well, again, I mean, when you're in an unregulated market, like, you know, stocks, there's legalities around and in the card market.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, it's a funny math.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I hope our listeners take in what you're saying.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you know, for 15 years old, I mean, it's really smart for you to recognize this.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_02]: This is what makes you really good in the hobby.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_02]: As you see these things kind of ahead of time.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_02]: And you want to stand.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: But like, here's where I, what I would do is I, if I see someone about to, if I say, hey, he's buying Boom, Brady, Boom and Crumbs right now.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_01]: I know they're about to go, then why don't, like, if you see someone you go on the train, yeah, jump on the train and take your wins when you can.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I mean, it's like, that's like, I'm not good, but you can't get caught too long, where you lose it, where you lose this when you get caught with the bag.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_01]: When you get caught, I go down.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_02]: But if you can if you can time it perfect in your golden when those dice hit seven baby you crap out you do not want to be on the table when the dice seven so
- 34:26[SPEAKER_02]: All right, dude, let's wrap up the episode today.
- 34:29[SPEAKER_02]: And thank you for, you know, just sharing everything.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_02]: And what's little Matt collecting right now?
- 34:33[SPEAKER_02]: Like, what's little Matt looking for?
- 34:35[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not talking about market.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not talking about hype.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_02]: I'm saying, you know, we're walking into the national or fanatics fast with, you know, profit that we've made from sports cards and you're talking about 50 grand.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_02]: And you're talking about cards.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_02]: I know you, you probably want to go about 150,000 on our card because it's the coolest card you've ever owned.
- 34:55[SPEAKER_02]: But if we're giving you like a $50,000 budget, what's a little matte buying?
- 34:59[SPEAKER_01]: Short answer, or like I, not right now.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: But in two years, 50, give me a 52 topspan off too.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_01]: If I, before I retire from sports cards, I'm gonna own that card.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to retire it like 17, what are you?
- 35:13[SPEAKER_01]: Who knows, once I hit Matt 2 million, I'll make my announcement.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_02]: We need to talk about Matt 2 million as well.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_02]: We might even be a little bit more on the D.L.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_02]: with that kind of stuff.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_02]: It seems like that's kind of caused a little bit more drama than needed.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_01]: What do you mean talk about it a little bit more?
- 35:26[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm saying we need to maybe like back off.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_02]: I just feel like it's just crazy like you start posting these videos.
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: You got like 30,000 views and a lot of people throw in shade and like we might just need to go back to being under the radar at some point.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I might have to cancel Matt to a million from now on.
- 35:42[SPEAKER_02]: You will cancel it.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_02]: We just, I mean, is talk about it a little bit under the table behind the scenes.
- 35:47[SPEAKER_02]: You know what I mean?
- 35:48[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, how does one real get 2,000 views in the next one gets 31,000?
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't get it.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, welcome to the algorithm.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'll go back to your question.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: What am I buying?
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 36:00[SPEAKER_01]: I want a very nice LeBron, like, dude, honestly.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: Barely.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: I know, no, no, no.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: Early 2000s were fractures, LeBron and Kobe bro.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling you, 2002 top scrim, Kobe Black were fractured out of 99.
- 36:15[SPEAKER_01]: That card's nice.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_01]: That card, I'd buy a four LeBron for actor PSA9, Black.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_01]: Do that card's so undervalued.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_01]: I want to buy one of those, actually.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_01]: So a few black or fractal bronze, I'm buying dude, I don't think you can go wrong.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't know why Brady contenders all those are 20 cases like a Brady contenders with an auto 10 and to wrap up, man.
- 36:38[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, 53 tops, man.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'll PS6.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a beautiful card or the 56-manel PSI7 love the 56-manel you know it's funny I told you today.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to think through the idea of building out a collection of an entire run of Mickey Manel and PSI7.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that was a number.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah a 52-manel and a 51-bum and just add a question but everything else is fairly attainable.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_01]: No, yeah
- 37:02[SPEAKER_02]: you can see it on the radar at least.
- 37:04[SPEAKER_02]: That would be super cool.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_02]: Number seven, PSA 7 run, that would be really, really neat.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think you're on to something with the early 2000s refractors being kind of the next little wave because the 90s inserts got so much hype and now they're harder to come by.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_02]: You're just moving into the next generation.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: No, like I'm telling you, like a Kobe PMG out of 90 would do, and it's not even rookie.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_01]: Does 100 did 1 to 430k, but you can buy his 2002 top cover flactor out of 99 for like 4k.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's a buy.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's that's super smart.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, it's interesting, man.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_02]: I, the more I'm around the, the hobby space, like we've got some cold Jordans right now.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_02]: I'm pretty kind of good on Jordan.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe like one or two more if the opportunity itself.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_02]: But like, and honestly, like I bought my ripkins, you know, the mean, Matthew wrapping up at today, man, any final thoughts?
- 37:54[SPEAKER_01]: No, sir.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm really glad I got to get on here to share my thoughts.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I hope to do it again at some point.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, man.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we appreciate it by listening.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like I said, it's a little snapshot of the conversations that go on inside our house.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_02]: It's been super successful for us.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_02]: We hope that you've earned something today and taking something away from it.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_02]: I can tell you guys a little Matt Sharp, you know, he knows the market really well.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_02]: Like, don't really fast.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_02]: You got to follow him.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_02]: But I hope this a little bit different episode for our listeners today because there's a lot of kids like Matthew out there that are really grinding in the hobby.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_02]: that that are helping support it and prop it up in a way.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, I think it might be a little bit different for our listeners.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_02]: So that being said, I thank you guys for tuning in to another episode of SportsCard CEO.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see you guys next week.
