- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hey everyone, welcome to a breaking news episode of the
- 0:09Speaker 2: Almost Samos podcast. It is Ashley and I am joined
- 0:12Speaker 2: by Trista Sutter and Bob Guiney, who you guys may
- 0:16Speaker 2: know do the spinoff of Almost Say Miss, which is
- 0:19Speaker 2: Almost Samoss Bo geez, and we're grateful to have them
- 0:23Speaker 2: here to break down their thoughts and feelings on the
- 0:29Speaker 2: Golden Bachelor divorce. It's very sad, very sad, but I
- 0:34Speaker 2: got lots of feelings that I can't wait to talk
- 0:36Speaker 2: about them with you guys from all different sorts of
- 0:40Speaker 2: perspectives before we rip into these two and try to
- 0:44Speaker 2: overanalyze everything that we truly don't know. I do want
- 0:49Speaker 2: to say that, of course, divorce is horrible. It's horrible.
- 0:53Speaker 2: It's it's very sad situation. We wanted them to have
- 0:57Speaker 2: a happy ending. But you know what, in the Good
- 1:01Speaker 2: Morning America interview, they honestly seem like they're both in
- 1:04Speaker 2: good places. So let's let the analyzation go forth. First,
- 1:08Speaker 2: we're gonna start with you guys, oh geez, members of
- 1:12Speaker 2: Bachelor Nation, and then Bob, you are going to talk
- 1:15Speaker 2: to super fan and Jenny Garth about how she's feeling
- 1:18Speaker 2: because she was really into this couple. Yeah, I'm also
- 1:21Speaker 2: going to talk to some normies, some New Army grandma fans,
- 1:26Speaker 2: see how they're responding to their generations, you know, the
- 1:33Speaker 2: version of the franchise kind of going south very quickly.
- 1:36Speaker 2: And then we're also going to have Bachelor data on
- 1:39Speaker 2: and she is going to give us some stats about
- 1:42Speaker 2: just marriage and the Bachelor franchise and like whether she
- 1:45Speaker 2: has any insight on whether this one was gonna come
- 1:48Speaker 2: so soon?
- 1:50Speaker 3: Man?
- 1:51Speaker 4: Can you when you talk to her, well, you ask
- 1:53Speaker 4: her what she never includes me and her data?
- 1:57Speaker 2: She doesn't why your because you drag you would like
- 2:02Speaker 2: make everything so high because like you're twenty marriage just
- 2:06Speaker 2: like yeah, just like it's like whoa.
- 2:12Speaker 5: My classes growing up? Because she would have just ruined
- 2:13Speaker 5: the curve.
- 2:18Speaker 2: That's you know, Trista, you have such a gap between
- 2:23Speaker 2: your like getting together in marriage to the next one
- 2:28Speaker 2: because isn't the next one Jason? So how many years
- 2:33Speaker 2: then span like over ten?
- 2:35Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 2:36Speaker 4: I think that they are just celebrating.
- 2:38Speaker 6: Their eleven Yeah, okay.
- 2:43Speaker 2: Wow, see that's why. Yeah, I know, I'll ask her,
- 2:50Speaker 2: I'll ask her, okay, so let let me go first.
- 2:54Speaker 2: My initial reaction was, Wow, I can't believe this happened
- 2:57Speaker 2: so fast. Why the three months? I was like, I
- 3:01Speaker 2: don't know if I told you. I was like, I
- 3:02Speaker 2: was so incredibly sick at their wedding, I was ten
- 3:06Speaker 2: weeks pregnant and now I'm twenty four, so it was
- 3:10Speaker 2: fourteen weeks. It was a it was a trimester. They
- 3:13Speaker 2: were married for a tris.
- 3:16Speaker 5: That's how we keep scoring, that's how we keep track
- 3:18Speaker 5: of time, and when you're mom and it up.
- 3:21Speaker 2: Yeah, so I definitely thought it was weird they were
- 3:25Speaker 2: getting married so soon. I've been very vocal about that.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I was like, four months, why would you ever get
- 3:32Speaker 2: married after four months of knowing each other? It's not
- 3:35Speaker 2: even a four month engagement. It was four months of
- 3:37Speaker 2: knowing each other, and most of those months they were
- 3:40Speaker 2: even actually in the same room, and people like they
- 3:44Speaker 2: would only we were actually only like we're a couple
- 3:47Speaker 2: that were announced about a month. Four weeks. Yeah, from
- 3:53Speaker 2: like the finale to their their wedding.
- 3:57Speaker 4: That may be something for future people to take into account.
- 4:01Speaker 4: You know, from here on they they have their like
- 4:05Speaker 4: they have a big, long life. That they've lived and
- 4:08Speaker 4: they know themselves. Like all these things that like younger
- 4:11Speaker 4: people kind of fight against is do you even know yourself?
- 4:14Speaker 4: Do you know what you.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Want out of life?
- 4:16Speaker 4: Do you know the kind of partner that you want?
- 4:17Speaker 4: And I feel like they both were there, they knew
- 4:21Speaker 4: exactly what they were looking for, right, And so I
- 4:24Speaker 4: think that time element definitely is an interesting factor because
- 4:29Speaker 4: I thought personally when they did announce that they were
- 4:33Speaker 4: going to be getting married so quickly, I thought, well,
- 4:36Speaker 4: good for them, because if they know, they know, then
- 4:39Speaker 4: just do it, you know what I mean. But now
- 4:42Speaker 4: hindsight's twenty twenty and you're like, whoa, maybe you should
- 4:45Speaker 4: have taken a beat, you know, and and lived in
- 4:49Speaker 4: the same home for a while.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Well they still haven't even moved into the same home.
- 4:53Speaker 5: That's that was news that just came out last week. Yeah,
- 4:56Speaker 5: they living separately, and I mean, I can I can
- 5:00Speaker 5: tell you. I mean, you know it has a divorced man.
- 5:04Speaker 5: You know, when my ex wife and I started living
- 5:06Speaker 5: on opposite coasts, it just it was the nail in
- 5:10Speaker 5: the coffin. And I feel like, when you have it
- 5:13Speaker 5: even here's here's what I was thinking about. What you
- 5:15Speaker 5: said Ashley, Like I agree with Ashley, Like I was like,
- 5:19Speaker 5: why are they rushing this? It's like, you know, all
- 5:22Speaker 5: of a sudden.
- 5:22Speaker 2: There's like so seventy seventy two, Like why would you
- 5:26Speaker 2: rust that? It's not like there's like no biological clock.
- 5:29Speaker 2: That's what I don't get it. Even in the case
- 5:32Speaker 2: of a biological clock, like you don't have to rush
- 5:34Speaker 2: that fast all moment.
- 5:35Speaker 5: No part of me too is kind of like something
- 5:38Speaker 5: must have been fundamentally flawed from the jump, because you
- 5:43Speaker 5: don't let someone spend a couple million bucks on your
- 5:47Speaker 5: wedding and televise it for the world to see to
- 5:51Speaker 5: then just allow it to crash and burn so quickly.
- 5:54Speaker 5: So it's like, are we not willing to try and
- 5:57Speaker 5: get into some counseling? I mean, are we not willing
- 5:59Speaker 5: to try and to know each other a little bit
- 6:01Speaker 5: better and maybe pump the brakes and you know, maybe
- 6:04Speaker 5: they don't live the life of a married couple, like
- 6:06Speaker 5: a hardcore married couple at this moment, because they're already
- 6:09Speaker 5: living separately.
- 6:09Speaker 3: But maybe they just sort of take a few minutes
- 6:11Speaker 3: and you know, I don't know, try to salvage this
- 6:14Speaker 3: whole thing.
- 6:15Speaker 2: That's why this is.
- 6:16Speaker 4: I don't think that's I don't think that's so. I
- 6:19Speaker 4: think clearly, like about feelings or values or something that
- 6:25Speaker 4: they might be able to talk through in therapy, then
- 6:28Speaker 4: I think that, yeah, that would be a good idea.
- 6:32Speaker 4: So I reached out to Angie, who's Gary's daughter, and
- 6:38Speaker 4: just said, hey, you tell will you tell your dad?
- 6:41Speaker 4: I'm just sending him a virtual hug. I'm sorry to
- 6:44Speaker 4: hear the news this morning. And she was like, well,
- 6:47Speaker 4: here's his number, you know, thank you, but why don't
- 6:51Speaker 4: you reach out to him? So so I did, and
- 6:54Speaker 4: I personally think that it wasn't something that could be,
- 6:59Speaker 4: Like they love each other, I think from like the
- 7:03Speaker 4: People article. I read the People article, and they both
- 7:05Speaker 4: still love each other, but there's only so much love
- 7:09Speaker 4: can get over. So if one person is living in
- 7:14Speaker 4: one place and the other is living in another and
- 7:16Speaker 4: they just can't compromise, then there's nothing to talk about,
- 7:20Speaker 4: you know what I mean. Like, if you're deciding to prioritize,
- 7:26Speaker 4: you know, where you're living currently, then I think it's
- 7:30Speaker 4: just it should have been discussed. I feel like, but they.
- 7:33Speaker 7: Should have would it could?
- 7:34Speaker 4: It doesn't help anyone, right, so I just feel bad,
- 7:37Speaker 4: But I do feel like they if they were adamant
- 7:42Speaker 4: that both of them were going to live where they
- 7:45Speaker 4: live now right then that should have been like discussed.
- 7:50Speaker 4: And and I think that anyone in the future going
- 7:53Speaker 4: on the show, even being part of a relationship, can
- 7:56Speaker 4: learn from this that you really do need to talk
- 7:58Speaker 4: about like the realistic you know, like the logistics of
- 8:04Speaker 4: a relationship. You should be in the same place to
- 8:07Speaker 4: make it work. You really do need, I feel like,
- 8:10Speaker 4: to be the same thing you have to.
- 8:12Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know, because maybe I'm just
- 8:18Speaker 2: totally warped, but I just feel like at their age
- 8:22Speaker 2: that they just kind of want to They just need
- 8:24Speaker 2: a companionship. But it doesn't have to be one hundred
- 8:28Speaker 2: percent full time companionship. It's like think about like the
- 8:31Speaker 2: older people who have like a boyfriend in a different state,
- 8:33Speaker 2: and it's just like, oh, my boyfriend, and like they
- 8:35Speaker 2: visit each other once a month twice, you know, twice
- 8:38Speaker 2: a month. I don't know that they needed to uproot
- 8:40Speaker 2: their entire lives to keep the marriage alive. I just
- 8:43Speaker 2: don't know that I buy the whole like location is
- 8:47Speaker 2: the reason we're divorcing after three months. That just feels
- 8:51Speaker 2: really extreme, and I really think that there's a way
- 8:54Speaker 2: to get around it, especially as retired people who yeah,
- 8:57Speaker 2: I know like it, travel is expensive, but you're telling
- 9:00Speaker 2: me that, like you're supposedly still in love aka the
- 9:05Speaker 2: Good Morning America interview, but like after three months you
- 9:09Speaker 2: realize that you just can't dedicate your time to traveling
- 9:13Speaker 2: for each other. I don't know. I don't buy it,
- 9:15Speaker 2: and I don't want to like talk, especially when Trista,
- 9:18Speaker 2: like you are in you know, you're you're friendly with
- 9:21Speaker 2: the family, But there's something weird about this, Like why I.
- 9:26Speaker 6: Do hear that?
- 9:28Speaker 4: I think that if you are in love, then you're right,
- 9:31Speaker 4: Like you know I just said two seconds ago, like oh,
- 9:34Speaker 4: love can only conquer so much, but you're right, Like
- 9:36Speaker 4: if you if you truly are going to prioritize the
- 9:40Speaker 4: love that you feel for each other, then you'll make
- 9:42Speaker 4: it work. But I, I just I just don't know
- 9:46Speaker 4: if the timing is right. And I don't know that
- 9:48Speaker 4: they realized until after they had said their vows. I'm
- 9:54Speaker 4: just going to.
- 9:55Speaker 5: Say this as as a person who's gone through divorce, Okay,
- 10:00Speaker 5: gonna say you can't you don't.
- 10:01Speaker 3: You don't take that step lightly.
- 10:03Speaker 5: Is dope and it's and it's like, I don't care
- 10:05Speaker 5: if you want the divorce or you don't want the divorce.
- 10:08Speaker 3: It sucks no matter what. And when you're gonna go through.
- 10:11Speaker 5: And I'm sorry to throw this extra wrinkle on there,
- 10:13Speaker 5: but I do think there's something to be said about
- 10:15Speaker 5: this when you're gonna go through such public scrutiny like
- 10:17Speaker 5: they're they're they're gonna get just I mean, I agree,
- 10:20Speaker 5: I get they're older and so maybe they won't get it.
- 10:23Speaker 3: As bad, but they're getting shredded. And it's like, you know,
- 10:26Speaker 3: at the end of the day, it's like, I'm sorry,
- 10:29Speaker 3: you don't.
- 10:29Speaker 5: You don't make that step without exhausting everything that you
- 10:33Speaker 5: can exhaust if you truly love that person. And I mean,
- 10:36Speaker 5: I can say as as someone who went through a divorce,
- 10:39Speaker 5: and my wife Kenyon knows this, I say this.
- 10:41Speaker 3: To all the time. I'm like, I never stopped caring
- 10:44Speaker 3: about her, loving her.
- 10:45Speaker 5: It was that we tried everything we could and we
- 10:47Speaker 5: realized we just weren't compatible.
- 10:49Speaker 3: And it wasn't it wasn't me living in la and
- 10:51Speaker 3: her living in New York it was much more than that.
- 10:53Speaker 3: That was just the extraw that broke Camels back, you
- 10:56Speaker 3: know what I mean.
- 10:56Speaker 5: So it's like, if you're a couple that all you've
- 10:58Speaker 5: ever known is living apart with them, then I have
- 11:02Speaker 5: a hard time, like Ashley's saying, I have a hard
- 11:04Speaker 5: time accepting the fact that the fact that they weren't
- 11:07Speaker 5: going to live together is why they're getting divorced.
- 11:10Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 11:10Speaker 2: Like I just listen to the Good Morning America interview
- 11:14Speaker 2: and I'm just was like, this is total bs because
- 11:18Speaker 2: I just felt like there it was being that there's
- 11:20Speaker 2: something phony about it, the way that they were even
- 11:22Speaker 2: like holding hands and being so cuddly and stuff. The
- 11:25Speaker 2: interviewer is like, you guys are holding hands, like you
- 11:28Speaker 2: still and they're like, yeah, we still love each other
- 11:29Speaker 2: so much, like we're still in love. And I'm like,
- 11:31Speaker 2: you're still in I can understand you saying like you
- 11:34Speaker 2: have love for each other support there, but you're telling
- 11:38Speaker 2: me that you're in love and then the only reason
- 11:40Speaker 2: here is is distance. But I just I feel like
- 11:44Speaker 2: distance and location is the only is just the easiest
- 11:48Speaker 2: way to explain to the fandom. It is the lightest way.
- 11:51Speaker 2: It's the lightest way, right. It's the way that people
- 11:54Speaker 2: are gonna be like, oh man, that's unfortunate, you know, distance.
- 11:57Speaker 2: But like, really, I think there was a fun mental
- 12:00Speaker 2: flaws there and they just found out because they didn't
- 12:03Speaker 2: have enough time together.
- 12:05Speaker 5: Well, I have one other thing I was thinking about
- 12:07Speaker 5: earlier too, and this is something to talk about. I
- 12:11Speaker 5: know how much I hated it when Stella and I
- 12:14Speaker 5: split up, and it was like, you know, all these
- 12:16Speaker 5: people chiming in of you know, oh well this and
- 12:19Speaker 5: that it's and you're just like and I remember reading
- 12:21Speaker 5: that stuff, going that's not true. But you know, but
- 12:24Speaker 5: then once a while, someone would, you know, someone would
- 12:26Speaker 5: say something and you'd be like, well, I guess there's
- 12:28Speaker 5: some truth to that, you know, or whatever. And you know,
- 12:31Speaker 5: a lot of stuff came out after after Gary, you know,
- 12:36Speaker 5: became the Bachelor, Golden Bachelor, and some of it wasn't
- 12:40Speaker 5: so flattering from some of his exes, like you know,
- 12:42Speaker 5: oh well he was really weird about money, or it
- 12:44Speaker 5: was this, or it was that, you know, And I
- 12:46Speaker 5: remember reading some of that stuff and going, I hope
- 12:48Speaker 5: that's not true.
- 12:48Speaker 3: But it was like was in one ear and.
- 12:50Speaker 5: Out the other, you know, So you got to wonder, like,
- 12:53Speaker 5: now as that stuff starts to play out, you know,
- 12:55Speaker 5: now you here we are, three months, not even a
- 12:58Speaker 5: trimester later, and split it up, and it's like, you know,
- 13:01Speaker 5: you gotta wonder, is there some validity to some of
- 13:04Speaker 5: that stuff? Like, I mean, this was an ACTU was
- 13:06Speaker 5: jilted saying, you know, he was like this and like that,
- 13:08Speaker 5: so he's not that great or whatever.
- 13:10Speaker 8: You know.
- 13:10Speaker 3: I get it.
- 13:11Speaker 5: People when they break up, they have harsh opinions, and
- 13:14Speaker 5: some of it's based in truth and some of it's
- 13:15Speaker 5: just completely from you know, left field. But I just
- 13:18Speaker 5: feel like maybe there is something to some of that stuff.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Yeah, And the Good Morning America interview, she said that
- 13:24Speaker 2: that article was no big deal to her. She said
- 13:27Speaker 2: that they had already talked everything that was in the
- 13:30Speaker 2: article out before the article even came out. So I
- 13:35Speaker 2: think that means that there is some validity to what
- 13:37Speaker 2: was in the article. But I can't I can't get
- 13:41Speaker 2: rid of that feeling that it did have something to
- 13:44Speaker 2: do with it.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Yeah, no one knows. Right, we can all sit here
- 13:50Speaker 4: and talk until our anything, like, we can talk all day,
- 13:56Speaker 4: but no one will know except for them. No one's
- 13:59Speaker 4: ever going to know exactly why, and it just makes
- 14:03Speaker 4: me sad, Like as the fairy godmother. I just you know,
- 14:07Speaker 4: I've always said that I feel maternal and it's weird
- 14:09Speaker 4: because they're older than me. But at the same time,
- 14:12Speaker 4: like I I root for everybody and being there at
- 14:15Speaker 4: their wedding and in and feeling the love like I
- 14:18Speaker 4: thought it was gonna it was gonna last, especially longer
- 14:22Speaker 4: than three months. So I'm just sad, you know, It's
- 14:25Speaker 4: just it's just a bummer. I just I had hopes,
- 14:29Speaker 4: but I just don't know.
- 14:33Speaker 9: I'm just sad.
- 14:35Speaker 2: It's a well, well, Bob, we want you to give
- 14:38Speaker 2: Jenny Garth a chance to give her thoughts and opinions
- 14:41Speaker 2: on this, so I want to toss it over to you,
- 14:43Speaker 2: and then we'll come back and we'll do a little
- 14:45Speaker 2: bit of a Grandma interview.
- 14:54Speaker 10: Almost famous.
- 14:58Speaker 5: I am here, Bob, getting of cour with our special guest,
- 15:01Speaker 5: Jenny Garth. Jenny long, you know, longtime friend of the show.
- 15:06Speaker 5: You know I'm a huge fan and a longtime friend.
- 15:09Speaker 5: I want to say for the record that I woke
- 15:12Speaker 5: up this morning for whatever reason, at like five in
- 15:14Speaker 5: the morning, and I looked at my phone and I
- 15:17Speaker 5: saw a breaking news US weekly thing and I'm like,
- 15:21Speaker 5: this has got to be a joke, right, So I
- 15:25Speaker 5: don't click on it because I think it's gonna be like,
- 15:27Speaker 5: you know, something that's like clickbait, and I can't tell
- 15:30Speaker 5: yet if it's if it's actually for real. Then at
- 15:33Speaker 5: about eight o'clock this morning, I see it and it
- 15:36Speaker 5: is for real. So yes, Gary and Teresa from The
- 15:40Speaker 5: Golden Bachelor literally have been married for three months. I
- 15:45Speaker 5: mean I've I've probably wore socks longer than that. I
- 15:47Speaker 5: don't understand what the hell's going on here? Three months
- 15:51Speaker 5: and they can't even go to counseling.
- 15:52Speaker 11: I mean, what, okay, Jenny, I they have the tear
- 15:56Speaker 11: picture and everything, it's over, but three months. My first
- 16:01Speaker 11: marriage was longer than months, and this is like their
- 16:05Speaker 11: last marriage.
- 16:06Speaker 6: So you would think that they would have a drown
- 16:08Speaker 6: by now.
- 16:09Speaker 8: Or at least be willing to fight for it a
- 16:11Speaker 8: little bit.
- 16:11Speaker 3: I mean, I don't understand this.
- 16:14Speaker 6: Yeah, I am truly devastated.
- 16:17Speaker 11: I feel like my mom and dad are getting a divorce.
- 16:22Speaker 5: I mean, honestly, you know, one of my friends today
- 16:24Speaker 5: who is a big fan of the show, and he
- 16:26Speaker 5: wrote me it's like a guy's threat and this one
- 16:29Speaker 5: buddy of ours, and we all tease him because you know,
- 16:31Speaker 5: we'll be watching like the National Championship game and he'll
- 16:34Speaker 5: be watching, you know, Golden Bachelor or whatever, and so
- 16:37Speaker 5: we were all teasing him about just his love of
- 16:41Speaker 5: the whole thing. And this morning he calls me and
- 16:44Speaker 5: writes me on the side and then calls me and
- 16:46Speaker 5: he's like, honestly, I'm devastated right now.
- 16:48Speaker 8: He's like, I can't understand how you would.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Go through such a process.
- 16:53Speaker 8: And he's like, don't get me wrong.
- 16:55Speaker 5: And you know, there's something to be said about this
- 16:57Speaker 5: part too, Jenny, And I know you're a big fan
- 16:58Speaker 5: of the show and I have of course lived it, but.
- 17:01Speaker 8: It's like, you go through these situations and you get
- 17:04Speaker 8: to the end, and you know, usually there's a little
- 17:07Speaker 8: bit of time where you get to know each other
- 17:09Speaker 8: without the cameras.
- 17:10Speaker 5: And you know, of course, the greatest success story of
- 17:14Speaker 5: the Bachelor franchise Tristan Ryan. You know, they they dated
- 17:17Speaker 5: almost a year before they you know, before they got married,
- 17:21Speaker 5: and but you know, so these two got married pretty quickly,
- 17:23Speaker 5: and like you said, you know they're older. You would
- 17:25Speaker 5: think they're wiser. You would think that, you know, they
- 17:28Speaker 5: they would do at least have due process before you know,
- 17:32Speaker 5: pulling the trigger. But they wanted to have that wedding
- 17:34Speaker 5: right away. I mean it sounded like it was their thing.
- 17:37Speaker 5: They wanted to get married right away. They wanted to
- 17:39Speaker 5: have the nuptials on TV. So much went into this
- 17:42Speaker 5: and now could put I'm.
- 17:44Speaker 11: Pretty upset this is But I think I got married
- 17:48Speaker 11: in either three months or six months, I can't remember,
- 17:51Speaker 11: after meeting a guy, my current husband, and.
- 17:54Speaker 6: It's going pretty good.
- 17:56Speaker 11: Yeah, like we definitely hit a rough patch because we
- 17:59Speaker 11: did rush into but I do think that we took
- 18:03Speaker 11: the time to really look at that and then work
- 18:05Speaker 11: through it. These guys are just ready to run for
- 18:08Speaker 11: the hills, like right away. I guess when you're older
- 18:12Speaker 11: and it's later in life, you know, you don't have
- 18:15Speaker 11: much time to fool around. If it's not working, get out.
- 18:19Speaker 8: Yeah, it's just crazy.
- 18:21Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 18:22Speaker 11: On one hand, good for them for you know, cutting
- 18:25Speaker 11: the losses and moving forward and getting on with it.
- 18:28Speaker 11: But on the other hand, oh my god, so many
- 18:30Speaker 11: people are going to be so disappointed. I feel like
- 18:33Speaker 11: this is like, this is upsetting This was appointment television
- 18:38Speaker 11: for me and my family.
- 18:40Speaker 6: Yeah, and we were so invested.
- 18:43Speaker 8: I know, I think we all were.
- 18:45Speaker 5: Like I was just talking yesterday about how much I
- 18:48Speaker 5: loved that they didn't do stunt casting on this season
- 18:51Speaker 5: with Gary, Like it was age appropriate casting, and I
- 18:53Speaker 5: thought that was awesome. And you know, for the Bachelor
- 18:56Speaker 5: to do that, for that was like going like totally
- 18:59Speaker 5: out of the box. They always would throw a few
- 19:01Speaker 5: people in there who were you know, randoms and you.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Know, just stir up the sauce.
- 19:05Speaker 8: They didn't even do that, you know, they they were
- 19:07Speaker 8: really respectful.
- 19:08Speaker 6: It was so real, It felt so real.
- 19:11Speaker 3: I know, this is heartbreaking. I'm with you, Jenny.
- 19:13Speaker 8: I feel like I feel like you and I need
- 19:15Speaker 8: to go and counsel them.
- 19:17Speaker 6: We need to either go get therapy or go give
- 19:20Speaker 6: them therapy. What do you think is gonna happen?
- 19:23Speaker 11: Is you going to go like, is he going to
- 19:24Speaker 11: go knocking on you know, somebody else's door now or what?
- 19:29Speaker 8: I don't know. Do you think he does like it?
- 19:31Speaker 5: Do you think he does like an expose where he
- 19:33Speaker 5: explains what went wrong in his words and she.
- 19:36Speaker 3: Explains what I mean? Are they going to do something
- 19:38Speaker 3: like that.
- 19:39Speaker 6: Let's hope so because I'll be there for that.
- 19:41Speaker 11: But I did another reason where like where it's Gary
- 19:46Speaker 11: Part two where they bring him back and it's a
- 19:49Speaker 11: do over.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:51Speaker 5: Well, you know, it's interesting because there's been so much
- 19:54Speaker 5: talk about the Golden Bachelorette and how you know, and
- 19:57Speaker 5: it was based off the success of the Golden Bag.
- 20:01Speaker 5: So now what, like, does Teresa come back as the
- 20:03Speaker 5: Golden Bachelorette?
- 20:04Speaker 6: Who's going to be the Bachelorette?
- 20:06Speaker 8: I don't know. They've been kicking it around.
- 20:08Speaker 6: Teresa come back?
- 20:11Speaker 7: Honestly, I mean, could it be?
- 20:14Speaker 11: It's true because even like I, I did not want
- 20:16Speaker 11: Teresa to take from the ring. I wanted someone else
- 20:19Speaker 11: to do it. But that last episode I was just
- 20:22Speaker 11: like Gary. I was like, oh, no, Teresa.
- 20:24Speaker 6: Is the one.
- 20:25Speaker 11: Actually, yeah, I know, But it turns out long enough
- 20:29Speaker 11: to get to know somebody.
- 20:31Speaker 5: You know, you gotta wonder. And of course I hate
- 20:34Speaker 5: to do this because I you know, I had many
- 20:36Speaker 5: a thing written about me post my Bachelor season that
- 20:40Speaker 5: wasn't true, But you gotta wonder. Some stuff came out
- 20:42Speaker 5: of the woodwork, you know. A couple of Gary's access
- 20:45Speaker 5: came forward. Remember that right after the season or kind
- 20:48Speaker 5: of in that height of the thing, and you gotta wonder, like,
- 20:51Speaker 5: you know, was any of that stuff, maybe you know,
- 20:54Speaker 5: bruin under the surface that we didn't know about and
- 20:57Speaker 5: that's what came up.
- 20:58Speaker 6: Or Yeah, I'm dying to know now, like I need
- 21:01Speaker 6: to know now more than.
- 21:03Speaker 3: I'm sure we're gonna find out.
- 21:05Speaker 8: I'm sure we're gonna find out very soon.
- 21:07Speaker 6: Well, I will be on the edge of my seat.
- 21:09Speaker 5: All right, Jenny, I know you're almost to your destination,
- 21:13Speaker 5: So let's just let's just say, let's just say what
- 21:16Speaker 5: we're really feeling here.
- 21:17Speaker 3: I feel betrayed a little bit.
- 21:20Speaker 5: And you know, first of all, Trista and I go
- 21:23Speaker 5: through this every day on the show.
- 21:25Speaker 3: She was invited to the Golden Wedding.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I wasn't.
- 21:28Speaker 5: I've been. I've brought it up many a time, and
- 21:31Speaker 5: now I think they're wishing they would have invited me.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Perhaps the outcome would have been different.
- 21:35Speaker 6: Maybe Braden and Christina will work out better.
- 21:37Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 21:38Speaker 3: Somebody's bound to. I mean, my god, they've got to.
- 21:42Speaker 11: You know that picture with the tear mark between them.
- 21:44Speaker 11: I've had a couple of those, and you probably have to.
- 21:47Speaker 11: But when I saw that this morning, yeah, I was
- 21:50Speaker 11: pretty devastated.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, you and me both. And you know it's funny.
- 21:55Speaker 5: I don't know if you feel this way when it's
- 21:56Speaker 5: celebrity gossip, but I've seen many of them in US
- 22:00Speaker 5: Weekly and you know, Star and whoever else is around.
- 22:04Speaker 5: But when TMZ reports it, I'm like, this must be true, right.
- 22:07Speaker 3: I don't know why I.
- 22:08Speaker 5: Feel that way, but I feel like they won't put
- 22:10Speaker 5: anything up that hasn't at least been vetted a little
- 22:12Speaker 5: bit in the race to be like first. And I'm
- 22:15Speaker 5: always like when I saw it on TMZ, which was
- 22:17Speaker 5: later in the day, because in the morning, I first
- 22:19Speaker 5: I saw it as Weekly, then I saw it on
- 22:21Speaker 5: some other like just Jared or something, and then all
- 22:24Speaker 5: of a sudden, boom, it pops up on TMZ.
- 22:26Speaker 3: I'm like, that's it. It's official.
- 22:29Speaker 6: It is official, like herpes.
- 22:32Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 22:36Speaker 5: Yeah, but I don't think there's anything you can take
- 22:39Speaker 5: to make this one go away.
- 22:43Speaker 7: I know it's so sad.
- 22:44Speaker 5: I have to go.
- 22:45Speaker 6: I need to cry a little.
- 22:46Speaker 8: I know it is a bummer.
- 22:48Speaker 6: Sorry, I feel forsa.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Oh.
- 22:53Speaker 8: I know part of me feels like I don't know.
- 22:55Speaker 8: I feel like she was sort of like.
- 22:57Speaker 12: I mean, I'm not blaming Gary here because I don't
- 22:59Speaker 12: know either one of them, but it's like part of
- 23:02Speaker 12: me feels like, for whatever reason, I don't know, do
- 23:05Speaker 12: you think you think they felt pressure like they had to.
- 23:07Speaker 8: Get married right away, or do you think that they
- 23:10Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 23:12Speaker 11: I mean, either they felt pressured and they felt like
- 23:16Speaker 11: they had to do it for the sake of the
- 23:17Speaker 11: show and they were pressured into it that way, or
- 23:20Speaker 11: they felt like time is of the essence, right you
- 23:24Speaker 11: getting up there, or they just were like, let's throw
- 23:27Speaker 11: caution to the wind and let's do whatever we want
- 23:31Speaker 11: because we're golden, you.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Know, exactly.
- 23:34Speaker 5: Yeah, Or maybe it was a combination of all of
- 23:36Speaker 5: those things and it was just like they had to
- 23:39Speaker 5: make the big jump. But it was kind of fishy
- 23:42Speaker 5: that neither one of them ever was willing to move
- 23:45Speaker 5: to the other or to be at least in a
- 23:47Speaker 5: find a place that worked for both of them. I mean,
- 23:50Speaker 5: that's been something that's been kind of bantered about a
- 23:51Speaker 5: little bit. I mean, they've been married for three months
- 23:53Speaker 5: and they still live separately.
- 23:55Speaker 11: Really, yeah, were they geographically undesirable were they like, do
- 24:00Speaker 11: they live in different parts of the country.
- 24:03Speaker 3: I think so.
- 24:04Speaker 5: I remember reading something that they said to South Carolina
- 24:07Speaker 5: might work for them to have like as a as
- 24:10Speaker 5: a central place that was close enough to her family
- 24:13Speaker 5: and not too far from his or something of that nature.
- 24:17Speaker 8: But yeah, I guess that doesn't mean anything.
- 24:19Speaker 11: Now, well, geez, I mean, I really do wish them
- 24:23Speaker 11: both the best, but I do need some good parenting therapy,
- 24:29Speaker 11: like divorced therapy work.
- 24:31Speaker 13: Now.
- 24:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I think I'm calling my shrink right after we
- 24:34Speaker 5: hang up.
- 24:35Speaker 8: I need I need some help.
- 24:36Speaker 5: You.
- 24:40Speaker 8: Well, thank you for jumping on with us.
- 24:42Speaker 5: I know you're you're going somewhere and you're busy, and
- 24:44Speaker 5: thanks for jumping on and letting us know your thoughts.
- 24:47Speaker 5: I mean, obviously we know you're a big fan of
- 24:49Speaker 5: the show and that you you love you know, watching
- 24:51Speaker 5: the season, and got to be honest, I'm a little
- 24:55Speaker 5: what it means.
- 24:55Speaker 7: I don't know what it means.
- 24:56Speaker 5: For a lot of things. You know what I mean,
- 24:58Speaker 5: Because I mean even in the past, like when the
- 25:01Speaker 5: couples would be engaged and wanted to break up, they
- 25:05Speaker 5: would get like the production crew would get involved, like
- 25:07Speaker 5: they'd be like, well, hold on, let's you know, let's
- 25:10Speaker 5: let's have you guys meet up and at least talk
- 25:12Speaker 5: and maybe you could talk with someone.
- 25:13Speaker 8: And we've been making you keep everything secret for.
- 25:15Speaker 5: So long all that kind of stuff, so I wonder
- 25:18Speaker 5: like if production was sideswiped by this, or if they
- 25:20Speaker 5: had a heads up and they've been working on it
- 25:22Speaker 5: for like a month, who knows.
- 25:25Speaker 11: We need to know that all the details we are
- 25:27Speaker 11: inquiring minds and we need to know that's right.
- 25:31Speaker 8: Amy Sugarman will probably be able to find out.
- 25:33Speaker 3: She knows everything.
- 25:35Speaker 6: She'll give us the dirt, She'll get it for us.
- 25:37Speaker 4: All right.
- 25:38Speaker 5: Thank you, Jenny gar, thank you for being on the show,
- 25:40Speaker 5: and thanks for thanks for thanks for.
- 25:43Speaker 3: Working through some of my issues with me on this call.
- 25:45Speaker 3: I needed you.
- 25:47Speaker 6: You're welcome. I'm always here for you, Bob. I appreciate it.
- 25:50Speaker 5: And if I get more details, we'll call you back
- 25:52Speaker 5: and we'll get you back on so we can talk
- 25:53Speaker 5: about it.
- 25:54Speaker 14: Okay, bye bye, Well, Bob, thank you for that.
- 26:09Speaker 2: And now we have producer Amy, who we haven't had
- 26:12Speaker 2: on this podcast for quite some time here with breaking
- 26:14Speaker 2: news along with her mom, Cheryl, who happens to be
- 26:17Speaker 2: a grandma. So we have two great perspectives.
- 26:20Speaker 15: We wanted to give the old person's perspective. But here's
- 26:23Speaker 15: what I can say, Ashley, and I thought everything you
- 26:25Speaker 15: guys were saying was very astute, like, yes, it is geographic,
- 26:31Speaker 15: but that seems a little suspect, right, And so we've
- 26:34Speaker 15: heard So I'm going to tell you what sources have
- 26:36Speaker 15: been telling us. I just won't reveal my sources. We've
- 26:39Speaker 15: heard rumblings of.
- 26:40Speaker 7: This since January thirtieth, So.
- 26:44Speaker 2: Why specifically the thirtieth, because.
- 26:46Speaker 3: It's I can just remember the date when the person.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Told me, okay, and can you give us like a
- 26:52Speaker 2: general like is this person part of the Bachelor family?
- 26:55Speaker 2: Is this person part of Bachelor very.
- 26:57Speaker 15: Well connected to all parties? And what we heard back
- 27:03Speaker 15: then was they don't live together, They're never going.
- 27:07Speaker 3: To live together.
- 27:08Speaker 7: So I was like, okay, wow, that's interesting.
- 27:11Speaker 15: But like you were saying, Ashley, it's like, yeah, a
- 27:13Speaker 15: lot of old people could just have a nice companion.
- 27:16Speaker 7: They go on a cruise I don't know.
- 27:18Speaker 15: Every six months, and they live their lives in separate locations.
- 27:23Speaker 15: My mom's here, and I'll interject with her because she
- 27:25Speaker 15: would never leave her grandchildren or her hair salon.
- 27:29Speaker 7: I mean, right, a hair salon.
- 27:31Speaker 5: Maybe hair does like beautiful by the way, Cheryl, well,
- 27:34Speaker 5: thank you?
- 27:36Speaker 7: No, I guess well should I I do?
- 27:39Speaker 16: My feeling is I'm wondering why what the rush was
- 27:43Speaker 16: to get married?
- 27:45Speaker 2: Was it the money? Let's talk about that. We all
- 27:49Speaker 2: feel as if they got paid a lot of money
- 27:52Speaker 2: to get married on live TV, because that's just how
- 27:57Speaker 2: we do in Bachelor Nation. You know, you get married,
- 27:59Speaker 2: if you get married on the show, you get money.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Because their ratings were so high and they did such
- 28:05Speaker 2: a quick turnaround with the wedding, we really thought that
- 28:07Speaker 2: there was probably a good payday in it for them.
- 28:11Speaker 2: But how cheated do we feel as viewers that like
- 28:15Speaker 2: these people? We could assume, maybe wrongly, but we could
- 28:19Speaker 2: assume got married or rushed into a wedding for the money.
- 28:24Speaker 7: I would love to.
- 28:25Speaker 15: Hear Triska's perspective on the being paid to have a wedding.
- 28:30Speaker 7: Also, it does extend.
- 28:32Speaker 15: Your fame, right, So if you're if you're starting to
- 28:34Speaker 15: like the money and now you're the couple that get
- 28:37Speaker 15: married on TV, and Trista you can really speak to
- 28:40Speaker 15: that not only did you get paid for the wedding,
- 28:42Speaker 15: but I'm sure it helped you with like brand deals
- 28:45Speaker 15: following that, I guess, But I just I mean, we.
- 28:49Speaker 4: Didn't have anything.
- 28:52Speaker 7: Stupidly.
- 28:53Speaker 4: I mean, I wish if we would have, like because
- 28:55Speaker 4: like Bob said the other day, he's like, he would
- 28:57Speaker 4: be billionaires if social media had been around back then,
- 29:02Speaker 4: And that would be nice because I'd love to pay
- 29:04Speaker 4: my taxes and not worry. But I so I didn't realize.
- 29:09Speaker 4: I didn't really think about the money part of it.
- 29:11Speaker 4: But You're right that if it was a lot, it
- 29:14Speaker 4: was a live wedding, it was quick. And what I
- 29:17Speaker 4: was going to say earlier when we were talking is
- 29:20Speaker 4: that I guarantee that production had some pressure going on.
- 29:27Speaker 4: They were applying a lot of pressure to do this quickly.
- 29:29Speaker 4: I don't know that they would have done it had
- 29:32Speaker 4: it not been a televised wedding. I highly doubt that
- 29:38Speaker 4: Gary and Teresa would have been like, we need to
- 29:40Speaker 4: get ready or get married tomorrow. You know, it was
- 29:43Speaker 4: all I would say, all about production, right, yeah, And
- 29:46Speaker 4: so if they got paid, you know, that's just icing
- 29:50Speaker 4: on the cake for us. It was you know, we
- 29:55Speaker 4: went into negotiations and I don't remember them saying like
- 30:00Speaker 4: it needs to be quick. But we did a whole
- 30:03Speaker 4: like four piece uh special. It was like three different,
- 30:08Speaker 4: four different segments. It wasn't a live show, even though
- 30:11Speaker 4: they talked about doing a live show. So, I mean
- 30:14Speaker 4: the money was good. I don't know how much they got,
- 30:16Speaker 4: and I've I've heard over the years that no one
- 30:20Speaker 4: would get as much as God got, right, Yeah, you know,
- 30:25Speaker 4: I don't think they would they would pay that much. Again,
- 30:28Speaker 4: Like it was like pulling teeth to get anything from
- 30:31Speaker 4: them back then, even knowing that they were going to
- 30:33Speaker 4: make bank just from having it on the air, you know,
- 30:37Speaker 4: so we had to fight really hard to get any
- 30:41Speaker 4: kind of cut in.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Really, I thought you guys made a bundle well a
- 30:48Speaker 2: million okay, yeah.
- 30:49Speaker 4: Yeah, we got paid a million. But my my agent
- 30:53Speaker 4: was like, you're making like how many times that you know,
- 30:57Speaker 4: like and you would not be able to do this
- 31:00Speaker 4: without Trista and Ryan. Sorry, we were a big part
- 31:04Speaker 4: of the show because you were.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Being twenty plus million viewers. How many viewers at your
- 31:10Speaker 2: wedding game?
- 31:10Speaker 4: No we have, well we had thirty one million watches
- 31:14Speaker 4: are you engaging? And then twenty six million watched the wedding.
- 31:18Speaker 4: So at that point in time, thirty one people, thirty
- 31:22Speaker 4: one million people had had watched the finale of the show.
- 31:27Speaker 7: So so yes.
- 31:29Speaker 4: Like, I mean, I just I don't want to think
- 31:32Speaker 4: that about Gary Drear.
- 31:36Speaker 15: Question is it's hard when you get into what you
- 31:40Speaker 15: three have been Bob, Trista, Ashley. There's the fame, there's
- 31:44Speaker 15: the excitement, there's all these things pulling you.
- 31:47Speaker 7: How could you resist it? Bob has his hand though.
- 31:51Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I was going to say thank you so much,
- 31:53Speaker 5: miss Sugarman for recognizing my raised hand.
- 31:57Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, here's the thing.
- 31:59Speaker 5: So Trista, I mean, there was a lot of pressure
- 32:01Speaker 5: on Trista back then, but Tristan Ryan took a year,
- 32:05Speaker 5: right like they like, they took time from I mean,
- 32:08Speaker 5: if it wasn't a full year, it was it was
- 32:10Speaker 5: a while from the time that I remember you guys
- 32:12Speaker 5: finished dating to the time like the time that you know,
- 32:15Speaker 5: when I was on Trista's season, from the finale the
- 32:18Speaker 5: time they got married. I mean, there was a lot
- 32:20Speaker 5: of time in there, and I think that you know,
- 32:22Speaker 5: they had that time to get to know one another.
- 32:24Speaker 5: But this I think was another moment of high stakes,
- 32:29Speaker 5: right because let's be honest, they're already teasing the Golden Bachelorette,
- 32:33Speaker 5: so they needed a success to spurn more success. And
- 32:37Speaker 5: so that's why I think there was probably pressure coming
- 32:39Speaker 5: from the producers. But I also think they wouldn't have
- 32:42Speaker 5: let these guys. This wouldn't have been a public announcement
- 32:46Speaker 5: the producers. I think I think what Amy said was right,
- 32:48Speaker 5: Like January thirtieth, I'm sure the producers have been trying
- 32:50Speaker 5: to keep these two together for months.
- 32:53Speaker 7: They work hard, I was.
- 32:54Speaker 15: Gonna say, Ashley. The little bit of information we also.
- 32:57Speaker 7: Have is that they did not they have been.
- 33:02Speaker 15: Separated, and I use that term loosely. Knew this was
- 33:06Speaker 15: coming right for a little bit of time.
- 33:09Speaker 7: The rumor we have heard.
- 33:11Speaker 15: From good sources is that they would have liked to
- 33:14Speaker 15: not announce this for quite a while because it's it's
- 33:20Speaker 15: the timing is.
- 33:21Speaker 3: So bad, like it's just too quick.
- 33:24Speaker 15: I think they would have liked to go a year
- 33:25Speaker 15: before they let anyone find out that things.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Weren't going to work out, like I'm sorry, but separated
- 33:32Speaker 2: even before fourteen weeks in your youth, and for you
- 33:37Speaker 2: on January thirtieth to have heard that they were never
- 33:42Speaker 2: going to live together, like this just has sham written
- 33:45Speaker 2: all over it.
- 33:45Speaker 15: Two weeks ago to the wedding itself made me so
- 33:50Speaker 15: uncomfortable that I didn't watch it.
- 33:54Speaker 2: And Tris, I also feel bad saying this because you
- 33:58Speaker 2: felt it, but being at wedding, I didn't feel it.
- 34:02Speaker 2: I didn't have any sort of sense of being choked up.
- 34:05Speaker 2: There's no tears coming out of miss cryings eyes. And
- 34:09Speaker 2: I remember like when I was coming back and I
- 34:13Speaker 2: was going to record my other podcast with my friend
- 34:15Speaker 2: who was a huge Golden Bachelor fan. I was like,
- 34:18Speaker 2: She's like, you have to talk about it. I was like,
- 34:20Speaker 2: I don't want to talk about it because like I
- 34:21Speaker 2: have nothing like really warm and fuzzy to say. I
- 34:23Speaker 2: just didn't really feel it, so I didn't need to
- 34:25Speaker 2: talk about you.
- 34:26Speaker 15: It's like somehow she had an instinct. These two were
- 34:28Speaker 15: not like, all, don't do it.
- 34:30Speaker 3: Don't do it.
- 34:31Speaker 2: Why do you have any reason beyond instinct? Because I
- 34:34Speaker 2: just had gut now.
- 34:36Speaker 16: I was just uncomfortable, uh thinking about watching it.
- 34:40Speaker 7: I just didn't want to watch it.
- 34:42Speaker 4: Do you think that it made you uncomfortable with the
- 34:46Speaker 4: whole Leslie situation?
- 34:48Speaker 15: She didn't get in the Weeds, because here's what started
- 34:51Speaker 15: to happen started to speak for you. My mom started
- 34:53Speaker 15: watching it, and she started pretty quickly realizing like something
- 34:57Speaker 15: wasn't quite right.
- 34:58Speaker 3: And by the time we got to the wedding, she has.
- 35:00Speaker 7: Like's like, oh, I can't I can't watch this.
- 35:02Speaker 15: I had a big party and had people over and
- 35:05Speaker 15: I'm like, Mom, come over, and she goes, yeah, I
- 35:06Speaker 15: don't want to watch them. And I don't know if
- 35:08Speaker 15: it's because she's their age. Maybe she was like a
- 35:11Speaker 15: little creepy to me.
- 35:12Speaker 3: Yeah, you had a good radar going. I mean, obviously
- 35:15Speaker 3: you picked up on something that you know.
- 35:17Speaker 5: Me.
- 35:17Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 35:20Speaker 3: I think that's what it is. I think you're just
- 35:22Speaker 3: very perceptive.
- 35:23Speaker 15: Well, it's like maybe other because my mom's hung out
- 35:26Speaker 15: with Susan and Kathy and she loves that dinner with them,
- 35:30Speaker 15: and so I think that maybe like these ladies of
- 35:32Speaker 15: a certain age, my mom's seventy six, also like, what
- 35:36Speaker 15: seventy do.
- 35:37Speaker 3: You want to get married?
- 35:39Speaker 13: Well?
- 35:39Speaker 7: No, And that's my other thought on this.
- 35:41Speaker 16: I think what they were trying to do was very difficult,
- 35:47Speaker 16: very difficult. You know, they were going to move right
- 35:51Speaker 16: and I can't imagine leaving my granddaughters. I mean I
- 35:56Speaker 16: cooked dinner for my youngest granddaughters twice a week. I mean,
- 36:00Speaker 16: I wouldn't give that up. And my relations and being
- 36:04Speaker 16: part of their lives.
- 36:05Speaker 15: I mean, well, and not to out my mom, but
- 36:07Speaker 15: this is something about older people.
- 36:09Speaker 7: They're very set in their ways.
- 36:11Speaker 15: Like my mom has a garbage can that you're not
- 36:13Speaker 15: allowed to put garbage in, like it's so and like
- 36:17Speaker 15: you use her a certain sync and she's like, you're
- 36:19Speaker 15: getting the sink wet and like I'm not making it up.
- 36:21Speaker 15: Like I can't imagine who people set in their ways
- 36:25Speaker 15: trying to like win together.
- 36:28Speaker 9: But yeah, that's the point.
- 36:29Speaker 6: That's why I.
- 36:30Speaker 7: Was wondering why they were rushing to get married. I
- 36:33Speaker 7: have because of production, you can have so much fun.
- 36:37Speaker 16: I mean, go have fun, get to know each other,
- 36:39Speaker 16: take some trips, play golf, you know, whatever they like.
- 36:42Speaker 7: To do, and you don't have to get married necessarily.
- 36:47Speaker 4: I feel like if it wasn't a television show, then they.
- 36:49Speaker 5: Would have done that.
- 36:50Speaker 6: Yeah do you know what I meaning?
- 36:51Speaker 4: Had they met like somewhere else than in production wasn't involved,
- 36:55Speaker 4: then maybe they would have done that. But since there's
- 36:57Speaker 4: a TV show, you know, all all that get thrown
- 37:00Speaker 4: out the window.
- 37:01Speaker 15: And Christa, do you think I'm trying to look in
- 37:03Speaker 15: Trista's eyes and see if I can see a glimpse
- 37:06Speaker 15: of the truth. Do you think that they would have
- 37:08Speaker 15: liked to not have to do this ABC Good Morning
- 37:12Speaker 15: America special Today, Like would they have liked.
- 37:16Speaker 4: To like said they didn't want to do that, Yes,
- 37:19Speaker 4: especially since you're saying that they didn't want to even
- 37:21Speaker 4: announce it for a year. They I think that they're
- 37:25Speaker 4: allegedly it's perfect part of their contract. To be quite honest,
- 37:30Speaker 4: they probably are still under contract. I don't know how
- 37:32Speaker 4: contracts work these days. Like if they're all tried to
- 37:35Speaker 4: do contracts out there, they are for a year.
- 37:38Speaker 7: So the ring goes back, right, all of it?
- 37:41Speaker 3: Oh, yes, that's you Bob Getty rule.
- 37:46Speaker 7: I've heard.
- 37:48Speaker 5: True.
- 37:51Speaker 7: It's delegate to keep her ring.
- 37:52Speaker 5: And then they were like she did, yes, and she
- 37:54Speaker 5: sold it and so they became like some type of
- 37:57Speaker 5: weird time frame in there.
- 37:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:00Speaker 2: So there's two things I want to mention, especially with
- 38:02Speaker 2: Trista's still around. One, I could have not felt much
- 38:06Speaker 2: at the wedding because it was the live TV version
- 38:10Speaker 2: and we had to keep stopping, and that felt really awkward,
- 38:13Speaker 2: Like it's felt like we were on the set of
- 38:15Speaker 2: a wedding, not that we were actually at a wedding.
- 38:18Speaker 2: So I'm sure that that took some magical Wait.
- 38:20Speaker 7: Actually, I just have to mention your lamb chop when
- 38:22Speaker 7: you're just cruising around this wedding.
- 38:25Speaker 2: It was not a lamb chop. I don't eat lamb.
- 38:27Speaker 2: That's the one meat I won't eat. But yeah, that
- 38:30Speaker 2: was the only screen time I had was I had
- 38:33Speaker 2: a meatball. Yeah, And I was like, I was literally
- 38:38Speaker 2: eating meatball, being like I'm totally on camera right now,
- 38:40Speaker 2: aren't I And I was like, ah, there it is.
- 38:44Speaker 15: I had to call that because it didn't look like
- 38:46Speaker 15: you were like, I don't know what's happening here, but
- 38:49Speaker 15: I'm just going to eat these meatballs.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Totally okay. But then, Trista, the other thing I wanted
- 38:56Speaker 2: to say is, regarding what you said earlier in the episode,
- 39:00Speaker 2: you said, we'll never really know what happened between the
- 39:04Speaker 2: two of them, but you know what, we very well
- 39:07Speaker 2: may because this Golden Bachelor cast, with women like Kathy
- 39:13Speaker 2: and Susan keep in these secrets.
- 39:18Speaker 7: Totally and those ladies already tight.
- 39:22Speaker 15: All those ladies are still friends, and they're gonna realize like, hey,
- 39:25Speaker 15: we're in it as girls together and they're gonna dish.
- 39:32Speaker 2: I think, like, if you're gonna get like a whole
- 39:34Speaker 2: bunch of dirt on Gary, she should get with these girls.
- 39:37Speaker 2: And and then, you know what, I wanted to come
- 39:40Speaker 2: on my our podcast and talk about this. But if
- 39:43Speaker 2: if Theresa needs to go and talk to Susan and
- 39:46Speaker 2: Kathy on their podcast and give us the real scoop,
- 39:49Speaker 2: sign this up.
- 39:51Speaker 3: She needs to speak to some people of age.
- 39:53Speaker 5: I mean, you know, the ogs be more the willing
- 39:55Speaker 5: to take on that conversation as well.
- 40:00Speaker 15: One crazy idea out there, and don't don't judge me
- 40:03Speaker 15: for it, because I'm sure there was no funny business.
- 40:05Speaker 15: But like when you're Gary, right, do we think but
- 40:09Speaker 15: they don't live together? How many ladies at the market
- 40:13Speaker 15: are giving Gary the wing?
- 40:14Speaker 7: You know what I'm saying?
- 40:15Speaker 15: Like that would be like he might be like, Okay,
- 40:19Speaker 15: I've got a lot of ladies flirting.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Oh, Triska's got information.
- 40:24Speaker 4: I'm not gonna I'm not gonna reveal my source. But no,
- 40:28Speaker 4: it's not a source, but the person who made this comment.
- 40:31Speaker 4: I'm not gonna reveal, but they said, I wander with
- 40:35Speaker 4: all of the all of the hubbub and the hype,
- 40:39Speaker 4: and he's all over the place like in the media.
- 40:42Speaker 4: I'm sure there are women out there. I mean, please,
- 40:45Speaker 4: when I when we were done, people were sending Ryan.
- 40:49Speaker 4: And this was of course back in the day when
- 40:50Speaker 4: there was like real mail that you went to the
- 40:52Speaker 4: post office for, but people would put together like little
- 40:56Speaker 4: care packages and send them to Ryan and be like, so,
- 41:00Speaker 4: if things don't work out with Trista, here's my number.
- 41:04Speaker 15: Right, I bet you like at the I don't know
- 41:07Speaker 15: where they go the I.
- 41:09Speaker 7: They go to dams.
- 41:10Speaker 4: I'm sure they go ram.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Into deep ram oh the graam.
- 41:16Speaker 15: Wow, they're deep sliding into the the geriatric dms.
- 41:21Speaker 4: That was not geriatric gms. That was not my thought.
- 41:25Speaker 4: But I was like, oh, okay, I mean I can
- 41:27Speaker 4: see they get a lot of attention after the show.
- 41:29Speaker 4: Anyone who's on the show usually get a lot of attention.
- 41:33Speaker 4: And I'm sure there was there were people sliding into
- 41:36Speaker 4: his dams, whether he took advantage of it or not.
- 41:38Speaker 9: Well, and Kats and.
- 41:39Speaker 15: Susan make really good points when they say at their age.
- 41:42Speaker 7: Those men like fifty year old women.
- 41:45Speaker 15: So it is really hard to be a seventy something
- 41:50Speaker 15: woman because you're like, where are the ninety year old
- 41:53Speaker 15: hanging out?
- 41:54Speaker 3: Right?
- 41:55Speaker 7: Year old dudes?
- 41:57Speaker 2: Ye, old ladies, isn't that just what happened with every
- 42:00Speaker 2: age group?
- 42:01Speaker 15: My mom would be like a hot catch for a
- 42:03Speaker 15: ninety one year old, like you.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Know, okay, all right, well let's get Bachelor data in
- 42:11Speaker 2: on here.
- 42:12Speaker 15: I want her to day someone is never going on
- 42:16Speaker 15: that show because I don't want We're so protective of
- 42:20Speaker 15: a grandma.
- 42:20Speaker 3: You're like, no, but anyway, keep seeing you. Bye, guys,
- 42:25Speaker 3: so good, say thank you.
- 42:26Speaker 15: Great coverage, actutely, great job, keep it keep it going,
- 42:30Speaker 15: great coverage.
- 42:31Speaker 13: Awesome coverage, almost in miss listeners.
- 42:44Speaker 2: We are now joined by our fan on our panel today.
- 42:48Speaker 2: Her name is Natalie. Natalie, I heard that you have
- 42:51Speaker 2: like lots of salacious thoughts on this, like you are
- 42:55Speaker 2: not holding back.
- 42:57Speaker 17: Well yeah, I mean so, I have watched many seasons
- 43:02Speaker 17: of the Bachelor, almost almost all of them, and all
- 43:06Speaker 17: the Bachelor of Paradise and all the things, and I
- 43:08Speaker 17: think this was a great season and I loved it.
- 43:11Speaker 17: I fell in love with with Gary like everyone else did,
- 43:14Speaker 17: and I was not not I wasn't surprised and then
- 43:20Speaker 17: not surprised to hear this news. Basically just uh, I
- 43:26Speaker 17: didn't love you know, I just I didn't love her.
- 43:27Speaker 17: I don't think I don't know that you guys loved
- 43:31Speaker 17: her either, Ashley and Ben.
- 43:33Speaker 2: I mean based podcast, I will admit I was absolutely
- 43:37Speaker 2: shocked when he picked her. I was even I was
- 43:39Speaker 2: shocked on finale day. I wasn't even spoiled. It was
- 43:42Speaker 2: at the Bachelor Mansion filming listen, you know, recording our
- 43:46Speaker 2: podcast live from the finale that I found out and
- 43:49Speaker 2: I was like what, But over time, if I had
- 43:55Speaker 2: to choose a favor in this relationship, I would have
- 43:58Speaker 2: chosen Teresa because that are that came out about him.
- 44:02Speaker 2: It just rubbed me the wrong way and I couldn't
- 44:04Speaker 2: shake it. I feel like there's something a little off there,
- 44:07Speaker 2: but there might be a little something off on both ends.
- 44:11Speaker 2: I like feel really bad saying I don't fully trust him.
- 44:17Speaker 2: It's just overly chummy, a little bit of acting, a
- 44:21Speaker 2: little bit too goody two shoes.
- 44:23Speaker 17: I don't know right Well, she came out of the
- 44:25Speaker 17: limo like naked, right, I mean basically, oh Theresa, Yeah, sorry,
- 44:30Speaker 17: I mean she she came to play. You know, she
- 44:32Speaker 17: was definitely you know, which I more power to her.
- 44:35Speaker 17: I just I feel like she over maybe overlooked a
- 44:38Speaker 17: lot of things that maybe she saw that you know,
- 44:41Speaker 17: she wasn't willing to see about Gary because she wanted
- 44:44Speaker 17: to kind of she wanted to end up with him
- 44:46Speaker 17: and she at all costs. And so my theory is
- 44:49Speaker 17: just that they got home and like, you know, based
- 44:52Speaker 17: on Ben said something on one of your recent podcasts
- 44:55Speaker 17: where it was like you get home and you know,
- 44:59Speaker 17: it's like your look at this person, like this is
- 45:01Speaker 17: Joe Schmoe. He's nobody special or famous. He's just a
- 45:05Speaker 17: guy who's like, you know, whatever job it is that
- 45:07Speaker 17: he had, which we don't really know because it wasn't
- 45:10Speaker 17: that was sort of yeah, maybe issue he didn't really
- 45:14Speaker 17: he wasn't really bringing you know, he wasn't the bread winner,
- 45:16Speaker 17: and so maybe she was kind of like, I don't
- 45:18Speaker 17: want to take care of this guy forever. And you know,
- 45:21Speaker 17: this is this is reality. So the fact that they
- 45:24Speaker 17: got divorced after three months, everyone is so shocked, but
- 45:27Speaker 17: the reality is like that doesn't change the Based on
- 45:29Speaker 17: your age, getting home and sort of realizing whose person
- 45:32Speaker 17: is is sort of what happens. I think a lot
- 45:35Speaker 17: right with these situations, But I don't know just the
- 45:39Speaker 17: fact that she was so so googly eyed over him
- 45:41Speaker 17: the entire time it was to me. I think she
- 45:43Speaker 17: probably just didn't she like overlooked a lot of things
- 45:46Speaker 17: that maybe were issues, and maybe on his side too,
- 45:50Speaker 17: because they were so kind of physically attached to I
- 45:53Speaker 17: think are we.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Also still weirded out thinking about that Fantasy Suite episode
- 45:58Speaker 2: and how he went into the Fantasy Suite told Leslie
- 46:01Speaker 2: obviously he was going to choose her, then somehow goes
- 46:03Speaker 2: into the phantasy to steet with Teresa after having kind
- 46:06Speaker 2: of honestly an awkwardish date and then comes out being like, no,
- 46:11Speaker 2: it's her, So what the heck happened? I don't know
- 46:14Speaker 2: whether there was physical I don't know whether they had
- 46:16Speaker 2: like conversations about finances or who knows what the heck
- 46:20Speaker 2: that changed something so dramatic like they show us.
- 46:23Speaker 17: I mean I thought about this too, like the whole
- 46:24Speaker 17: location thing. They don't show that very much on The Bachelor,
- 46:27Speaker 17: Like do do they have a lot of conversations behind scenes?
- 46:30Speaker 17: Like does The Bachelor with their you know, contestants, like
- 46:33Speaker 17: about where they live, because that's got to be a
- 46:35Speaker 17: huge thing of what they who they choose to be with,
- 46:38Speaker 17: Like is it it's somebody that you know lives in
- 46:41Speaker 17: LA and you're stuck in your for your career, Like
- 46:43Speaker 17: are you going to choose that person? And they didn't
- 46:45Speaker 17: show them really, I mean they had the conversation after
- 46:47Speaker 17: I guess, but I don't know. It's just interesting that
- 46:49Speaker 17: they don't. They don't show those scenes of The Bachelor
- 46:53Speaker 17: really talking to their contestants about that, like about where
- 46:56Speaker 17: they live.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I think I can't speak on it
- 46:59Speaker 2: because I was never in a series and a relationship
- 47:01Speaker 2: on the show to like get to that conversation. But
- 47:05Speaker 2: I do feel like it is something that is talked about,
- 47:08Speaker 2: especially once you get down to the final three. I
- 47:10Speaker 2: wish Ben, we're here to answer that question. Okay, Natalie,
- 47:12Speaker 2: I got a question about marriage for you and maybe
- 47:15Speaker 2: maybe you know it, maybe you don't. Could this have
- 47:19Speaker 2: been annulled? You think? And like, what what is the
- 47:22Speaker 2: criteria for an annulment over a divorce after three months?
- 47:27Speaker 17: Well, isn't annulment? Isn't it? Like isn't it a shorter
- 47:29Speaker 17: time period, like it has to be within a sort.
- 47:32Speaker 2: No, because like, if I remember my pop culture correctly,
- 47:35Speaker 2: Kenny Chesney and Renee Zellwegger they got an annulment after
- 47:39Speaker 2: five months of marriage.
- 47:41Speaker 17: Well, I'm guessing it has it's financial because she's like
- 47:43Speaker 17: a financial planner, right. She was like, it seemed like
- 47:46Speaker 17: she had her books in a row, and I'm sure
- 47:48Speaker 17: she had the premium.
- 47:49Speaker 5: I had the prenup.
- 47:50Speaker 2: They did say on Good Morning America there was a prenup.
- 47:53Speaker 17: So maybe that was why, like either to have access
- 47:56Speaker 17: to her money or something if they didn't get fully
- 47:59Speaker 17: divorced or something. I don't know. Yeah, okay, I do
- 48:03Speaker 17: think that was I mean that was when it came
- 48:05Speaker 17: out that he, you know, wasn't kind of you know,
- 48:09Speaker 17: making a lot of money and she kind of had
- 48:12Speaker 17: it together. That also made sense for why they ended
- 48:14Speaker 17: up together.
- 48:14Speaker 2: That's right. I thought that.
- 48:15Speaker 5: I was.
- 48:16Speaker 2: I thought that maybe that enticed him more.
- 48:19Speaker 17: Right, Oh, I think for sure it did. I mean, yeah,
- 48:22Speaker 17: I think and then she probably was like, look, I
- 48:25Speaker 17: was just talking to Frint about this, but like when
- 48:27Speaker 17: you get older, yeah, you want to take care of people,
- 48:28Speaker 17: but you don't want to work forever, especially you know,
- 48:31Speaker 17: if you're in your seventies. You're like, maybe she was like, look,
- 48:34Speaker 17: I don't want to take care of that. Maybe she
- 48:37Speaker 17: thought she could or she wanted to, but that's gets
- 48:40Speaker 17: older after a while.
- 48:41Speaker 2: You know, something somebody got the ick. Okay, somebody. I
- 48:46Speaker 2: think that maybe both of them did.
- 48:49Speaker 17: Yeah, because why were they so content in that interview?
- 48:52Speaker 17: I mean it really was like I just watched it again,
- 48:54Speaker 17: you know, before this, and I mean they were really
- 48:59Speaker 17: I mean, I only just holding hands.
- 49:00Speaker 2: But it's just too much. It seemed like over the
- 49:03Speaker 2: top for me to show that much affection when announcing
- 49:06Speaker 2: in a divorce. Yeah, that's what made it. It's been
- 49:10Speaker 2: phony in acting. And I'm like, oh, okay, so you
- 49:12Speaker 2: guys been phony in acting the entire time, or at
- 49:14Speaker 2: least for quite some month months now.
- 49:16Speaker 17: I think there were just issues that they don't want
- 49:18Speaker 17: to talk about. Like but in the beginning of the interview,
- 49:20Speaker 17: he was sort of like, yeah, we had several conversations
- 49:23Speaker 17: about you know, living arrangements and other things. So it's
- 49:26Speaker 17: clear that they talked. You know, I think it just
- 49:29Speaker 17: had it was about probably just compatibility and like living
- 49:33Speaker 17: with a person day to day and their habits and like,
- 49:36Speaker 17: how do you know any of that before you know
- 49:39Speaker 17: it just or maybe arguments or disagreements or you know.
- 49:43Speaker 17: A friend of mine saw them out in la and
- 49:45Speaker 17: said she was very this was only like a few
- 49:49Speaker 17: weeks ago. She was holding on really tight to him
- 49:51Speaker 17: and sort of deer in headlights, and he was talking
- 49:55Speaker 17: to everybody kind of more friendly, and so you're like,
- 49:59Speaker 17: just they're so, I'm sure there's tons of things that
- 50:01Speaker 17: we just don't know. But they did a good job
- 50:03Speaker 17: of like you know, keeping it together for that. But
- 50:07Speaker 17: which surprised me about her too, because she was so
- 50:10Speaker 17: like in love with him, you know the whole time.
- 50:12Speaker 17: To see her not upset really was like that told
- 50:15Speaker 17: me that maybe it was her decision.
- 50:17Speaker 2: Well, we know that if this means anything, he was
- 50:21Speaker 2: the one to file in Indiana today for divorce. He
- 50:25Speaker 2: was the initiator. I don't know if that means anything.
- 50:30Speaker 2: I also wonder why they didn't pull a Marcus in
- 50:32Speaker 2: Lacey and not even sign paperwork, just make it a
- 50:37Speaker 2: televised event and wedding and like not actually be legally married.
- 50:41Speaker 2: If I were them, I probably would have. I mean
- 50:43Speaker 2: I wouldn't have gotten married. But if I did get married,
- 50:48Speaker 2: I would have been like, all right, well, let's not
- 50:51Speaker 2: actually make this official yet.
- 50:54Speaker 17: I think they were just in this like whirlwind, like
- 50:56Speaker 17: why wouldn't you get married? And also you're in your seventies,
- 50:58Speaker 17: like we're what you know, and plus it's going to
- 51:01Speaker 17: be paid for, like you know, like what, let's just
- 51:03Speaker 17: go for it, you know. And then I don't know,
- 51:07Speaker 17: the issues became too much. I mean, I think it's
- 51:11Speaker 17: yeah that that can happen too. I mean, they just
- 51:14Speaker 17: think it's so easy to look at this couple on
- 51:15Speaker 17: TV and the Golden Bachelor, and you know, it's like
- 51:19Speaker 17: they're so oh, they're so in love and we just
- 51:21Speaker 17: don't see all the cracks and all the things, you know.
- 51:26Speaker 17: And it doesn't mean that they weren't in love or
- 51:28Speaker 17: they tried like a lot of people do, but you know,
- 51:33Speaker 17: and that they won't end up halfway ever after like
- 51:35Speaker 17: you did and like bended and you know, but I
- 51:40Speaker 17: think it, yeah, there, it's definitely an interesting, you know situation.
- 51:46Speaker 2: My last question for you is what do you think
- 51:48Speaker 2: Leslie is thinking today?
- 51:50Speaker 17: I Mean, I think she's probably secretly like a little
- 51:54Speaker 17: bit for sure. I think we all thought he was
- 51:57Speaker 17: going to pick her. I mean, I definitely did, but
- 52:01Speaker 17: she was young, and like, I just think he was
- 52:04Speaker 17: focused more on someone who can take care of him.
- 52:05Speaker 17: That's my theory, and maybe she couldn't do that.
- 52:09Speaker 2: So but I bet you yeah.
- 52:11Speaker 17: I mean, I'm sure she's sad for them, but ultimately
- 52:14Speaker 17: I would think as the runner up, you're kind of like,
- 52:17Speaker 17: you know, a little bit of you.
- 52:20Speaker 2: Well, thank you Natalie so much for joining us and
- 52:22Speaker 2: giving us. Thank you your thoughts, your honest thoughts. All right,
- 52:36Speaker 2: we could not wrap this podcast up without having Bachelor data.
- 52:40Speaker 2: Susannah Summers not to be confused with the season, Summers, because
- 52:45Speaker 2: she's got to break down the shortest bachelor marriage. Susannah,
- 52:52Speaker 2: why do you think that the Golden Bachelor has the
- 52:54Speaker 2: shortest marriage, the one with the people that have apparently
- 52:57Speaker 2: the most relationship experience and experience knowing?
- 53:01Speaker 5: Oh?
- 53:01Speaker 18: Man, I you know, I had not to be pessimistic here,
- 53:05Speaker 18: but I did have some concerns about Golden Bachelor when
- 53:08Speaker 18: they first announced it, mainly because the Bachelor franchise casts
- 53:11Speaker 18: from around the US. It's not like love is blind
- 53:15Speaker 18: or married at first sight, where they cast in the
- 53:16Speaker 18: same like city or region, which isn't so much of
- 53:20Speaker 18: a problem for younger people for The Bachelor and the Bachelorette,
- 53:23Speaker 18: But when you think of Golden Bachelor, these are people
- 53:26Speaker 18: in their golden years who already have families, grandchildren, and
- 53:30Speaker 18: they've most of them have settled down near them. So
- 53:33Speaker 18: I actually had quite a few concerns before the show
- 53:35Speaker 18: even aired about like, logistically, how are older people going
- 53:39Speaker 18: to uproot their lives across the country, Like, it's just
- 53:44Speaker 18: much harder at that age than it is in your
- 53:45Speaker 18: younger years. So it did feel very rushed that they
- 53:49Speaker 18: got married before they even moved in together or moved
- 53:52Speaker 18: near each other. The timing of this all, the thing
- 53:56Speaker 18: that makes me scratch my head the most, is five
- 54:00Speaker 18: days ago they were filming Celebrity Family Feud.
- 54:04Speaker 2: And it will air in like a month or something.
- 54:07Speaker 2: But yeah, they have obviously decided already on divorce and
- 54:12Speaker 2: they were separated by the time of this filming, which
- 54:15Speaker 2: just confirms to me that the franchise was going to
- 54:18Speaker 2: try to hide this separation as long as possible.
- 54:22Speaker 18: Yeah, it definitely feels like that, and I mean, I
- 54:25Speaker 18: get it. It was the most successful spin off show
- 54:28Speaker 18: that they've ever had. If you look at Bachelor and Paradise,
- 54:31Speaker 18: so many people who watch this show don't realize that
- 54:34Speaker 18: Bachelor and Paradise actually has lower ratings every year than
- 54:37Speaker 18: Bachelor and Bachelorette. So the fact that a spinoff show performed,
- 54:42Speaker 18: it outperformed every single show last year, this year, and
- 54:47Speaker 18: multiple years going back, you know, it makes sense that
- 54:50Speaker 18: ABC is going to milk it for all of its
- 54:52Speaker 18: all its worth. But I think a lot of people
- 54:55Speaker 18: weren't expecting a divorce this quickly three months after away.
- 55:00Speaker 2: For sure. And what's interesting is that while Bachelor in
- 55:02Speaker 2: Paradise has the lowest amount of viewers, it has the
- 55:08Speaker 2: greatest percentages of couples that are still together.
- 55:12Speaker 18: Right, Yes, So when it comes to success rates on
- 55:15Speaker 18: the show, there's a few different ways to slice and
- 55:17Speaker 18: dice it, and I like to give a few disclaimers first.
- 55:20Speaker 18: So it depends on what you define as success, because
- 55:24Speaker 18: a lot of people just think of who is currently
- 55:26Speaker 18: together in this day and time, and people forget Ashley
- 55:30Speaker 18: and Jpe from The Bachelorette. They were together for almost
- 55:33Speaker 18: ten years and had two kids, Rachel and Brian. They
- 55:37Speaker 18: were together for almost seven years. We had Caitlin and
- 55:40Speaker 18: Seawan that were together for over three years. And also,
- 55:43Speaker 18: if we go much further back to those early years
- 55:45Speaker 18: on The Bachelor, we had Byron I didn't watch that season,
- 55:49Speaker 18: and Mary they were together for over five years. Charlie
- 55:52Speaker 18: and Sarah they were together for four years. So a
- 55:54Speaker 18: lot of people they discount those relationships, but relationships over
- 55:58Speaker 18: two three years long, those are pretty successful in my book.
- 56:01Speaker 18: But if we're talking of just who's currently together on
- 56:05Speaker 18: a Bachelorette, eighteen percent of bachelorettes are still together. So
- 56:09Speaker 18: we've had twenty seasons with twenty two different bachelorettes, so
- 56:14Speaker 18: it's eighteen percent. If we include those longer relationships, it
- 56:18Speaker 18: goes up to thirty six percent. But now if you
- 56:21Speaker 18: look at Bachelor, we've had twenty eight seasons, twenty nine
- 56:24Speaker 18: with Gary uh six are still together, so that's twenty
- 56:28Speaker 18: point seven percent, So that's higher than the eighteen percent
- 56:31Speaker 18: that we've seen for Bachelorette. If we include those longer relationships,
- 56:36Speaker 18: it goes up to twenty eight percent. And then, oh,
- 56:41Speaker 18: as far as divorces, Bachelorette has seen two divorces, The
- 56:46Speaker 18: Bachelor has not seen any divorces, just Golden and Bachelor
- 56:50Speaker 18: and then Bachelor and Paradise.
- 56:52Speaker 9: This is where we see the higher success rates.
- 56:54Speaker 18: So couples that are still together on Bachelor in Paradise
- 56:57Speaker 18: it's twenty nine point seven percent.
- 57:00Speaker 2: So that means couples who like I know that Jared
- 57:05Speaker 2: and I are included in that, and so are couples
- 57:08Speaker 2: like uh Asterrod and Kevin and Raven and Adam, couples
- 57:14Speaker 2: who got together eventually but didn't leave the show engaged
- 57:18Speaker 2: Becka Thomas actually a huge chunk of them, Abigaila and Noah.
- 57:22Speaker 18: I could keep going, yeah, you know, And that's the
- 57:26Speaker 18: thing I credit that those couples are together. And same
- 57:29Speaker 18: thing for The Bachelor because a lot of people don't
- 57:31Speaker 18: like to include Ari and Lauren as a success number this.
- 57:36Speaker 2: It would be the same thing as Jason Molly.
- 57:38Speaker 9: Yeah exactly.
- 57:39Speaker 18: But if you think about it, that relationship would have
- 57:41Speaker 18: never happened without the show.
- 57:43Speaker 9: So if you want to talk about leads that are
- 57:46Speaker 9: still with.
- 57:46Speaker 18: The final book person, that's a different stat So, like
- 57:49Speaker 18: I said, there's so many different ways to slice and
- 57:51Speaker 18: dice this, and people love to cherry pick on like
- 57:54Speaker 18: who they want to include, So I like to include
- 57:56Speaker 18: all of these numbers, but couples that are still currently
- 57:59Speaker 18: together from Bachelor in Paradise, it's eleven couples out of
- 58:03Speaker 18: thirty seven, so that's that twenty nine point seven percent.
- 58:06Speaker 18: But we've had three divorces from Bachelor in Paradise. So
- 58:09Speaker 18: we had Carly and Evan, they were together for five years,
- 58:13Speaker 18: had a kid, two kids, one kid, two kids, Chris
- 58:17Speaker 18: and Crystal that was a shorter relationship though they were
- 58:20Speaker 18: together for one point six years. And then Lacey and
- 58:24Speaker 18: Marcus from season one, but this one's debatable. So they
- 58:27Speaker 18: had a televised wedding, they flew them down to Mexico,
- 58:30Speaker 18: had their wedding there, but they actually never legally got married.
- 58:34Speaker 18: But they were together for two years. So if we
- 58:36Speaker 18: include those divorces, it goes up to thirty eight percent
- 58:39Speaker 18: of success rates. And then also Brendan and Piper were
- 58:43Speaker 18: together for two years after the show, so that then
- 58:46Speaker 18: boosts it up to forty percent. So it's again, however
- 58:49Speaker 18: you want to slice and dice it. The show, it's
- 58:51Speaker 18: actually pretty successful. And it's around this time that we
- 58:54Speaker 18: hear like Golden Bachelor's getting a divorce that there's so
- 58:57Speaker 18: much clickbait out there where people are like this show,
- 59:00Speaker 18: Oh is horrible, it doesn't work, blah blah blah, cancel
- 59:03Speaker 18: the show.
- 59:04Speaker 9: And it's like, the success rates are actually pretty good.
- 59:07Speaker 18: I know, back in my day when I was single,
- 59:09Speaker 18: if I had had a twenty percent success rate on
- 59:12Speaker 18: Tender and Bumble was swiping and finding good men, like,
- 59:17Speaker 18: that's a great success rate. And I know it's only
- 59:19Speaker 18: gotten worse in the last ten years.
- 59:21Speaker 2: And the Bachelor numbers, I feel like have gotten better
- 59:24Speaker 2: in the past ten years.
- 59:26Speaker 18: Yes, So the really interesting stat that I found. So
- 59:31Speaker 18: rumors started to kind of circulate a few days ago
- 59:34Speaker 18: about this potential divorce dropping. So I started digging into
- 59:37Speaker 18: the numbers post pandemic success rates. And here's where I
- 59:40Speaker 18: have a lot of opinions, which I never give opinions
- 59:43Speaker 18: on my account.
- 59:44Speaker 2: I was gonna ask you for a couple more opinions
- 59:46Speaker 2: after this and tell us your opinion here.
- 59:48Speaker 9: Okay, So post pandemic.
- 59:50Speaker 18: So when the world shut down, it was the they
- 59:53Speaker 18: literally shut down filming. I think it was like two
- 59:55Speaker 18: days after the NBA shutdown was Claire's season was.
- 59:58Speaker 9: Supposed to film.
- 1:00:00Speaker 18: So ever since the world shutdown and we came back
- 1:00:03Speaker 18: for Clarantatia's season. We have had four bachelors five if
- 1:00:08Speaker 18: you include Golden Okay, and then we've had seven bachelorettes,
- 1:00:12Speaker 18: which is insane because we had Clarontatia for season sixteen,
- 1:00:15Speaker 18: and then the next year we had Katie and Michelle
- 1:00:18Speaker 18: had two seasons, and then we had in twenty twenty three,
- 1:00:22Speaker 18: Gabby and Rachel shared a season.
- 1:00:23Speaker 9: So we've had a lot of bachelorettes.
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: Yeah, the Bachelor not a success with the bachelorettes, interestingly, no,
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: but the.
- 1:00:30Speaker 9: Bachelor, three of the four are still together.
- 1:00:34Speaker 18: So we had Matt and Rachel they're still together, Clayton
- 1:00:38Speaker 18: didn't work out, Zach and Katy are still together, and
- 1:00:41Speaker 18: Joey and Kelsey, you know, their season just in it.
- 1:00:43Speaker 9: So that's a really good success rate.
- 1:00:45Speaker 18: And the craziest part is pre pandemic, the Bachelorette was
- 1:00:50Speaker 18: the most successful franchise.
- 1:00:51Speaker 9: And it was the running joke.
- 1:00:53Speaker 18: It was like, of course, so much better at picking.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I notice on your stats today that that switched over.
- 1:00:59Speaker 18: Yeah, so here's here's the variable because I dug into
- 1:01:03Speaker 18: it because for so long, pre pandemic, it was always
- 1:01:07Speaker 18: Bachelorette was more successful. And on top of that, Bachelorette's
- 1:01:11Speaker 18: almost like their rate of choosing their first impression rose
- 1:01:15Speaker 18: as their finalist was super high.
- 1:01:18Speaker 9: So it was very much this like women just know
- 1:01:20Speaker 9: how to choose better. I remember, here's what's changed.
- 1:01:24Speaker 18: So before the pandemic, the Bachelor and the Bachelorette was
- 1:01:28Speaker 18: ten weeks of filming. A week on this show is
- 1:01:32Speaker 18: the dates plus the rose ceremony.
- 1:01:33Speaker 9: I count that as a week.
- 1:01:34Speaker 18: It's actually like sometimes it's four days, sometimes it's six days,
- 1:01:37Speaker 18: depending on traveling, but it's ten weeks of dates plus
- 1:01:41Speaker 18: rose ceremonies. Okay seven before hometowns and they have hometowns
- 1:01:46Speaker 18: overnights and they you meet the family. The Bachelor structure
- 1:01:50Speaker 18: has not changed. It has continued to be ten weeks
- 1:01:54Speaker 18: every single season, but the Bachelorette has changed. So Claire
- 1:01:58Speaker 18: obviously she ended her season after like a week and
- 1:02:01Speaker 18: a half and she was like, peace out, I'm going
- 1:02:03Speaker 18: with Dale. So Taysha's naturally was shorter.
- 1:02:06Speaker 9: That made sense.
- 1:02:07Speaker 18: Then when a time when it came time for Katie
- 1:02:09Speaker 18: and Michelle season, those were eight and nine weeks, and
- 1:02:13Speaker 18: then Gabby and Rachel. Even though they were sharing a
- 1:02:16Speaker 18: group of men and getting less dates than leads normally get.
- 1:02:20Speaker 9: They only got nine weeks and then Charity had eight weeks.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: Interesting. Interesting, Okay, well that could be a reason for that.
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: Now for Gary and Theresa, we know that their season
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: was actually the shortest of all seasons ever for a
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: lead show, and they only had I wanted to say
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: that they had four to six weeks of filming instead
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: of the standard, as you said, eight to ten. Yeah,
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: all right, Well, who knows what contributed to this split,
- 1:02:56Speaker 2: but Bachelor Data, we are just really happy that you came,
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: gave us your insight, and we hope to have you
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: back soon.
- 1:03:03Speaker 9: Thanks for having me.
- 1:03:05Speaker 2: Well that's all we have. That was a lot on
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: the Golden divorce. Hopefully we have some more gossip coming up.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: Some more of these Golden ladies will talk and we'll
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: find out more about what went wrong between Teresa and Gary.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: And I'm sorry I'm trying to sound silatious about this,
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: but I think it's more salacious than distance. Thank you
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: guys for joining me. We love you all and until
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: next time, I have been Ashley.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: See you follow the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous
