- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey everybody, I'm Megan, I'm Wendy, and welcome to Girls
- 0:14Speaker 1: Gone Christmas, a series of bonus episodes from long story
- 0:18Speaker 1: shorts the podcast. Don't worry, we will still have our
- 0:21Speaker 1: regular Tuesday episodes every week, but for the next several weeks,
- 0:24Speaker 1: we're going to be recapping some of the Hallmark Christmas
- 0:28Speaker 1: movie new releases. And one thing you should know about
- 0:31Speaker 1: us is I am the Christmas Queen. I watch all
- 0:34Speaker 1: the Hallmark movies every year and Wendy does not.
- 0:40Speaker 2: Not at all. This is my first year watching these
- 0:42Speaker 2: Hallmark movies ever.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Can you believe I was actually shocked to find that
- 0:48Speaker 1: information out in the heart.
- 0:49Speaker 2: I'm shocked at it. There's such a big audience for these,
- 0:53Speaker 2: I am wait.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I think you knew the audience existed because everyone's sort
- 0:59Speaker 1: of talking about it.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I know. It's just like, why am I such a scrooge?
- 1:03Speaker 2: I don't want to watch people fall in love in
- 1:05Speaker 2: a Christmasy town? I don't know, I don't know.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I think that's part of the appeal is that it's
- 1:11Speaker 1: so absurd and it is so far from reality that
- 1:14Speaker 1: it's easy for these to be totally escapist, which we need.
- 1:19Speaker 1: And I would like to say right now that this
- 1:21Speaker 1: episode is coming out on Thursday. We are recording this
- 1:24Speaker 1: on Monday. We have no information about the election today.
- 1:26Speaker 1: We're going to be discussing on the twelfth date of Christmas.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Not to be confused with any other iteration of the
- 1:33Speaker 1: combination of words, of which there are many.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Right, so confusing. It has a confusing title. He has
- 1:40Speaker 2: the synopsis. Yeah, no, it's all right. Here we go.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Two seemingly incompatible game designers team up to create a romantic,
- 1:49Speaker 2: citywide scaventer Hunt themed for the Twelve Days of a Christmas,
- 1:53Speaker 2: starring Mallory Jansen and Tyler Hines.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I need to tell you that Tyler Hines is my
- 2:01Speaker 1: favorite Hallmark movie actor male actor megan.
- 2:07Speaker 2: He is very hot.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I love him.
- 2:12Speaker 2: I googled him today. I'm embarrassed. I googled him today
- 2:18Speaker 2: and there was a couple of pictures with his shirt off.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I was like, God, damn, I'm gonna watch every movie
- 2:24Speaker 2: this guy is.
- 2:25Speaker 1: In the past two years, he has been paired with
- 2:28Speaker 1: Hallmark movie actresses who are not my favorite. Last year
- 2:32Speaker 1: he was with Kelly Pickler, and the year before that
- 2:35Speaker 1: it was Leanne Rimes. I gotta tell you I like
- 2:38Speaker 1: them individually, they don't do it for me as Hallmark
- 2:40Speaker 1: movie actors. I feel like this year he has been
- 2:44Speaker 1: given an equal match. I was so happy to see.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I thought they had great chemistry. I already we were
- 2:53Speaker 1: headed in the right direction with this movie. Okay, I'm okay.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Was he wearing a wig or two pay some sort
- 3:00Speaker 1: in this I don't think so. I think he has
- 3:03Speaker 1: good hair.
- 3:04Speaker 2: I thought his hairline looked a little weird, and so
- 3:07Speaker 2: that's why I was trying to google him this morning
- 3:09Speaker 2: to see if like he had different hair or not.
- 3:11Speaker 1: But did he not?
- 3:14Speaker 2: Really, So I don't. I want you to take a
- 3:17Speaker 2: look back if you can, and just tell me if
- 3:19Speaker 2: you think that he is wearing fake hair or not.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I will I just think he has good hair, but
- 3:25Speaker 1: I will look Okay.
- 3:27Speaker 2: So what we've been doing with these recaps we talk
- 3:30Speaker 2: about what we loved, what we wish would have happened,
- 3:33Speaker 2: and some plot holes. So where do you want to start?
- 3:37Speaker 1: Let's start with what we loved.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Okay.
- 3:40Speaker 1: I loved so many of the supporting characters in this movie.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I loved Jennifer's co worker Annie. I wish she had
- 3:48Speaker 1: gotten more screen time I totally wore everything Annie was
- 3:54Speaker 1: wearing when I worked in.
- 3:55Speaker 2: A corporate job. I don't know if you noticed, but
- 3:58Speaker 2: it was like a card again and a plaid dress. Yes,
- 4:01Speaker 2: that's what I wore all the time.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Did you notice that Jennifer, the main character, wore that
- 4:09Speaker 1: same pencil skirt a lot or yes, a variation thereof.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Was she wearing the same skirt through the entire movie?
- 4:16Speaker 2: I think it was a variation. It was a turtleneck
- 4:19Speaker 2: and pencil skirt.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Everyday, solid color pencil skirt. It was like a plaid
- 4:24Speaker 1: pencil skirt.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Solid turtleneck. Yes, yes, I noticed.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I was like, I loved I mean, I loved her look.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I thought she was beautiful. But I was like, could
- 4:32Speaker 1: we get like a change up in the pencil skirt,
- 4:34Speaker 1: like a solid or a different look anyway.
- 4:37Speaker 2: Totally, no, I noticed. I noticed.
- 4:39Speaker 1: I also loved mister Romano, her neighbor.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Oh my god, that was so sweet when she left
- 4:45Speaker 2: that wreath for.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Him, and then she runs into him at the Christmas
- 4:49Speaker 1: tree farm and discovers that he has not been ignoring her,
- 4:53Speaker 1: but he takes his hearing its own didn't because it
- 4:55Speaker 1: doesn't have anyone to talk to.
- 4:57Speaker 2: I know, I know, I thought that was really nice.
- 4:59Speaker 2: Actually I did.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Too, And then they brought it full circle. You know,
- 5:03Speaker 1: he made a friendship with her grandmother, speaking of whom
- 5:08Speaker 1: I also loved her grandmother.
- 5:11Speaker 2: So I was not that, you know, entranced by the
- 5:16Speaker 2: supporting characters, because I think all I could look at
- 5:19Speaker 2: was the main characters. Yeah, let me just preface this.
- 5:24Speaker 2: I watched this movie with my husband last night.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yes, as did I.
- 5:30Speaker 2: And the only thing that he well, he enjoyed it too,
- 5:33Speaker 2: but throughout the entire movie he was like, this is
- 5:36Speaker 2: so sexual harassment. These two should not be touching each
- 5:40Speaker 2: other giving each other looks like this. This is widely
- 5:43Speaker 2: inappropriate for someone who works together. And I just laughed
- 5:47Speaker 2: so hard because he was like, oh, no, call HR
- 5:50Speaker 2: about that.
- 5:52Speaker 1: But I so I could understand that they were definitely
- 5:56Speaker 1: crossing a line. However, it was mutual. There was not
- 6:00Speaker 1: really a point, right. I didn't feel like there was
- 6:02Speaker 1: a point at which he was making unwanted advances toward her. No,
- 6:07Speaker 1: I just kept geting. They kept giving each other, had
- 6:10Speaker 1: these moments where they give each other looks.
- 6:12Speaker 2: And did you notice, like when she invited him over
- 6:15Speaker 2: to help trim the Christmas tree that she gave eyes
- 6:19Speaker 2: to the roommate, like to get the hell out of there.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Yes she was. She was like, oh, it's okay, like
- 6:25Speaker 1: and then her roommate made up an excuse to bounce.
- 6:27Speaker 2: Yes.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Yes, I appreciate their silent little signal there.
- 6:33Speaker 2: It was very funny. Okay, what else did you love?
- 6:36Speaker 1: I loved the moment when Aiden began to thaw. He
- 6:42Speaker 1: was this like grumpy man who did not want to
- 6:46Speaker 1: work with a partner. He was not super receptive to
- 6:49Speaker 1: her ideas. He was kind of a jerk.
- 6:52Speaker 2: He was a real jerk.
- 6:54Speaker 1: About thirty forty minutes in he starts to kind of
- 6:58Speaker 1: thaw out, and I would preciated it. It that came fairly quickly,
- 7:02Speaker 1: and he even owns it. He's like, yeah, that was
- 7:04Speaker 1: kind of terrible the way I talk to you. So
- 7:06Speaker 1: I appreciated that. And then from then on out we
- 7:09Speaker 1: don't really see that from him anymore. And I loved
- 7:13Speaker 1: that because the second he started turning on the aid
- 7:15Speaker 1: and charm, I was all in, Yeah, I.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Was like rooting for them totally. But at the beginning
- 7:22Speaker 2: I looked up my husband, I was like, this guy's
- 7:23Speaker 2: a Dick like, what why is he so mean? And
- 7:27Speaker 2: he didn't want to work in the team and.
- 7:31Speaker 1: He didn't like her office.
- 7:33Speaker 2: Oh my god, Megan. Her office it.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Was a rotating Christmas tree.
- 7:37Speaker 2: It was decorated from ceiling to floor and Christmas stuff.
- 7:42Speaker 2: And I said to my husband, I go, that's what
- 7:44Speaker 2: Megan's office would look like. She worked in a corporate environment.
- 7:48Speaker 1: It was I noticed it. It was too much even
- 7:52Speaker 1: for me. I have to say. Like when she turned
- 7:54Speaker 1: on the lights and the tree started rotating behind her,
- 7:57Speaker 1: I died. And you couldn't like her desk is covered
- 8:01Speaker 1: in gingerbread houses. I mean you couldn't even see her desk.
- 8:03Speaker 1: I felt like it was overkill, But.
- 8:06Speaker 2: I think that's the point. Though. She really loved Christmas.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Yeah, there's always someone who really loves Christmas in these movies.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Well even in her home. So she's a baker and
- 8:16Speaker 2: bakes Christmas cookies. Yeah, her kitchen had like little Christmas
- 8:22Speaker 2: figurines all over the countertops, and that drives me crazy.
- 8:26Speaker 2: I do not decorate my Christmas Sorry, I do not
- 8:30Speaker 2: decorate my kitchen at Christmas time because I don't want
- 8:33Speaker 2: any additional clutter on the counters. So seeing that at
- 8:36Speaker 2: her home while she's baking, I wanted to die.
- 8:41Speaker 1: We do decorate our kitchen at Christmas, so I was
- 8:44Speaker 1: all on board. I actually thought her house was not overdone,
- 8:48Speaker 1: which was funny compared to her office because she doesn't
- 8:51Speaker 1: even get a tree until midway through the movie and
- 8:55Speaker 1: he's like, how do you not have a tree? Plot hole?
- 8:57Speaker 1: And she's like, I've been busy, but not so busy
- 8:59Speaker 1: as to decorate your office. That struck me as odd,
- 9:02Speaker 1: like plenty of time for the office, no time for
- 9:04Speaker 1: the house. Was of course, we have the plot twist,
- 9:07Speaker 1: which I felt like we could see coming from a
- 9:09Speaker 1: mile away, which is that they both want the head
- 9:12Speaker 1: game creator position. We know that from her from the
- 9:16Speaker 1: very beginning. It's an aiden doesn't say it, but there's
- 9:19Speaker 1: a moment when she tells him that it's real obvious
- 9:22Speaker 1: that he has also, you know, thrown his hat into
- 9:26Speaker 1: the ring, and he eventually tells her about that, and
- 9:30Speaker 1: then of course we have the the hijinks where she
- 9:34Speaker 1: thinks he's gotten the job and she's a little upset.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Yeah, that's all dumb. Well, that's all dumb, I asked
- 9:40Speaker 2: my husband. I was like, what's this company they work for.
- 9:43Speaker 2: They just create like corporate games like I.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Couldn't figure out like eight scavenger hunts.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Yeah, what a fun place to work at. I know.
- 9:53Speaker 1: My husband goes, you'd be good at that job. You
- 9:54Speaker 1: should start that business.
- 9:57Speaker 2: I was like, see, when I read this, I thought
- 10:00Speaker 2: they were gamers. Like I thought it. I expected tech stuff.
- 10:04Speaker 2: For some reason, I didn't expect that they were creating
- 10:08Speaker 2: citywide scavenger hunts for other corporate businesses.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Yeah, the tech stuff. They barely mention that. They're like,
- 10:14Speaker 1: we'll send it off to tech and they'll code the app.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Like they can just do that overnight basically as long
- 10:18Speaker 1: as they have the clues. There is a Christmas movie
- 10:22Speaker 1: from a couple of years ago called Mingle All the Way,
- 10:25Speaker 1: and it is about a dating app and it is
- 10:28Speaker 1: one of my favorites. So you should look it up
- 10:32Speaker 1: if you're listening to this and see when it is replaying,
- 10:35Speaker 1: because it is about kind of the app creation and
- 10:39Speaker 1: it's like a female entrepreneur anyway.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Okay, speaking of app creation, did you see her mock
- 10:44Speaker 2: ups when she showed him like on her iPad?
- 10:47Speaker 1: Yes?
- 10:47Speaker 2: I was like, what child drew those? Because they were awful.
- 10:50Speaker 2: They were awful.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Budget constraints.
- 10:58Speaker 2: And I was like so critical, Like when they were
- 11:00Speaker 2: pitching the Hotel Lady, like They're like, this is what
- 11:03Speaker 2: the app would look like. I was like, that's lame.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Like the oh I liked the better Christmas true theraphics.
- 11:09Speaker 2: They needed way better graphics. But anyway, I did like
- 11:13Speaker 2: their idea. I thought it would be super fun to
- 11:15Speaker 2: go on that scavenger hunt.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Me too, although I another plot hole is like the
- 11:21Speaker 1: fact that they announced the Scavenger Hunt the day of
- 11:25Speaker 1: all those people were gonna jump in, like you need
- 11:27Speaker 1: weeks of social media promotions, people are ready to start.
- 11:31Speaker 1: But you know, of course people showed up and they
- 11:33Speaker 1: were at the party, and.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Well, even I was like, how are they gonna do
- 11:36Speaker 2: all these twelve things in one day and then show
- 11:39Speaker 2: up at a party like you're gonna bake a cake
- 11:41Speaker 2: and paint a thing and do this and have hot chocolate? Oh,
- 11:45Speaker 2: can we talk about how much hot chocolate and eggnog
- 11:47Speaker 2: they drink in this movie?
- 11:49Speaker 1: Every movie, every Hallmark movie. That's all. They drank eggnog,
- 11:52Speaker 1: hot chocolate, and maybe coffee if it's like you know,
- 11:57Speaker 1: a peppermint mocha with whipped cream filling.
- 12:00Speaker 2: Out of them. I was like, the stomach ache I
- 12:02Speaker 2: would have. There's just no way I could drink that
- 12:06Speaker 2: much hot chocolate and egg gog. Nope, not happening.
- 12:09Speaker 1: I did appreciate in the final scene he's holding glasses
- 12:12Speaker 1: of champagne.
- 12:13Speaker 2: Oh men, not eggnog.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Oh oh, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on.
- 12:20Speaker 1: That's the best part. I should I should not skip there. Okay.
- 12:24Speaker 2: I did think we could paint better Timmory paintings.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Oh, I totally thought that.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I was, But I was like, that's a great idea,
- 12:32Speaker 2: Like yeah, anyway.
- 12:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I did. I did think that their ideas were good,
- 12:37Speaker 1: that their scavenger hunt seemed to fun, although like they
- 12:40Speaker 1: kind of phoned it in, like buy a coffee for
- 12:41Speaker 1: a stranger and take a s healthie. I did think like, okay,
- 12:45Speaker 1: you have to solve each clue in order to get
- 12:47Speaker 1: the next one, but how does the app know that
- 12:49Speaker 1: you've been to the right place.
- 12:52Speaker 2: You're really thinking about this, aren't you?
- 12:54Speaker 1: Well? I was like, how does that actually work? Anyway? Eh?
- 12:59Speaker 2: Can I? This is what I thought was not necessary
- 13:02Speaker 2: in this movie. Yeah, the house falling apart and them
- 13:06Speaker 2: trying to find somebody alumni to help fix it up.
- 13:09Speaker 1: I did think this movie had too many subplots. Okay,
- 13:16Speaker 1: because we've got the subplot of Jennifer's family wants her
- 13:19Speaker 1: to come home and if she doesn't get this promotion,
- 13:20Speaker 1: she's gonna feel like a failure, which I was like,
- 13:23Speaker 1: she's still employed, Like if she doesn't get this one promotion,
- 13:28Speaker 1: the idea that her family's like, Nope, you gotta come home, rack.
- 13:31Speaker 2: It up, move back to Iowa.
- 13:33Speaker 1: And then we have his family home falling apart. The
- 13:37Speaker 1: brother in law is deployed, the father is rehabbing in
- 13:40Speaker 1: Germany after heart surgery, and then we have all these
- 13:44Speaker 1: old classmates that are willing to come in. I found
- 13:47Speaker 1: that highly unbelievable. They were like, we'll do it pro
- 13:50Speaker 1: bono because we liked him, give me a break.
- 13:53Speaker 2: It didn't support the main storyline, Like I couldn't figure out, like,
- 13:57Speaker 2: why do they have this plot in this movie? It
- 14:01Speaker 2: doesn't make any sense. And then they didn't tie it
- 14:04Speaker 2: up at the end, which drove me crazy.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Well, they did say that they had found like all
- 14:08Speaker 1: they were like, we've got an electrician news coming in
- 14:10Speaker 1: and we got this person. So they had all these people.
- 14:12Speaker 1: They didn't actually do the work.
- 14:15Speaker 2: That's what I need to see, I know, see the
- 14:17Speaker 2: flip or flop.
- 14:18Speaker 1: So they just not the plans for the work. I
- 14:21Speaker 1: did feel like they had overdone the subplots. One thing
- 14:24Speaker 1: that you'll see a lot, and I don't know if
- 14:26Speaker 1: I'm noticing it more this year, but there are a
- 14:28Speaker 1: lot of niice storylines. So we had it in Jingle
- 14:32Speaker 1: Bell Bride. She had to get back she you know,
- 14:34Speaker 1: didn't want to disappoint her niece. We have it in
- 14:36Speaker 1: this story. He's close with the niece. There's a lot
- 14:39Speaker 1: of niece storylines where the niece is kind of like
- 14:43Speaker 1: sometimes the driving force between getting them together. I thought
- 14:47Speaker 1: she was super annoying too.
- 14:49Speaker 2: No, I feel like a jerk saying that, but it
- 14:53Speaker 2: just is not necessary to me. Like he's fun uncle,
- 14:56Speaker 2: and I get it. But like when they show up
- 14:58Speaker 2: to the she shows up to the draft fair to
- 15:01Speaker 2: support the niece, I'm like, really, come on.
- 15:05Speaker 1: No, yeah, you're not gonna go to your coworker's nieces
- 15:08Speaker 1: elementary school craft fair to support them. I mean, it's
- 15:13Speaker 1: not like a holiday gala, you know, where your five
- 15:16Speaker 1: dollars wreath purchase is going to make a difference. Yeah,
- 15:19Speaker 1: I feel like we need to have a niece count
- 15:23Speaker 1: in these movies because for.
- 15:24Speaker 2: You two for two, Yeah, two for two. I love it.
- 15:29Speaker 1: We watched another movie the other night that I can't
- 15:32Speaker 1: think of the name of it. It's another one of
- 15:33Speaker 1: the new releases, and there was also a Nie storyline.
- 15:36Speaker 1: All right, can we talk about the final scene?
- 15:43Speaker 2: Okay, I'm ready. First of all, First of all, can
- 15:48Speaker 2: I say I thought she looked beautiful when she showed
- 15:51Speaker 2: up at the tattoo.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I love that dress.
- 15:53Speaker 2: My husband was like, what's that dress? I was like,
- 15:55Speaker 2: are you kidding me? I was like, it's gorgeous. She
- 15:58Speaker 2: looks so pretty. Maybe I just want to dress up
- 16:02Speaker 2: and go to a holiday party looking like that.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Perhaps I agree. I thought she was stunning when she
- 16:06Speaker 1: walked in, especially because there's that moment she's walking with
- 16:10Speaker 1: her grandmother and she's like, well, let's do this and
- 16:12Speaker 1: go to the holiday party, And I thought, are they
- 16:13Speaker 1: gonna go like that? Like in my mind, I was like,
- 16:15Speaker 1: there's gonna walk over there because they were running out
- 16:18Speaker 1: of time, right, But I apparently no, she went home
- 16:21Speaker 1: and got glam, so I.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Got a glam squad. Waiting for her at her home.
- 16:26Speaker 1: I enjoyed that. But you know Aiden is waiting for
- 16:29Speaker 1: her with champagne on the roof.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Okay, yes, it's my reaction when I'm watching that. This
- 16:38Speaker 2: is ex verbative. When I say to my husband that's hot.
- 16:44Speaker 2: I was like, that is so hot of a man
- 16:48Speaker 2: waiting at like the top. I don't with two glasses
- 16:51Speaker 2: of champagne. I don't know. I don't know what it was.
- 16:53Speaker 2: It was romantic And he goes, is that all I
- 16:56Speaker 2: gotta do? Because can we go out on the deck.
- 17:01Speaker 1: Upstairs? Yeah, meet me on the deck outside of bed,
- 17:08Speaker 1: have two solo cups. Yeah. Really, he does it for
- 17:15Speaker 1: me this. I'm not sure that there's any other Hallmark
- 17:19Speaker 1: movie actor. I like a lot of the actresses, but
- 17:22Speaker 1: he's definitely my favorite. So I think all of the
- 17:25Speaker 1: movies are gonna have a hard time living up to
- 17:27Speaker 1: the chemistry of this movie for me, because I really
- 17:30Speaker 1: enjoy him, like he made me enjoy Kelly Pickler in
- 17:33Speaker 1: that last movie. So and that, let me tell you,
- 17:37Speaker 1: I had a terrible plot line. It was like sponsored
- 17:40Speaker 1: by Balsam Hill.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Oh.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Another thing you should look for is often these movies
- 17:44Speaker 1: are sponsored and I haven't noticed it yet in these two,
- 17:48Speaker 1: but in past years they'll have like very blatant sponsorships,
- 17:51Speaker 1: like they'll have like a Jurgen sponsorship or like I said,
- 17:55Speaker 1: Balsam Hill, and it's real obvious, and it's it's I
- 18:00Speaker 1: don't enjoy it. And I say this as a person
- 18:02Speaker 1: who you know makes the money from from the sponsored
- 18:05Speaker 1: content placement. But I don't enjoy it in my Hallmark movies,
- 18:09Speaker 1: I say.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Okay, I have a question. Is it can he show
- 18:14Speaker 2: up in a second Christmas movie this year? Or is
- 18:17Speaker 2: it one and done for the year.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I certainly think he could. I don't think he is. Yeah,
- 18:23Speaker 1: I when I looked at the cast of characters, I
- 18:26Speaker 1: definitely would have chosen. When I looked through the movies
- 18:29Speaker 1: we're going to recap, I would have chosen a second
- 18:33Speaker 1: movie of his. And I don't believe there is one. Okay,
- 18:37Speaker 1: so four stars? Where does this one land for you?
- 18:41Speaker 1: You gave Jingle Bell Bride two out of four?
- 18:43Speaker 2: This is four out of four for me?
- 18:45Speaker 1: Four It was me too.
- 18:47Speaker 2: I would watch it again next year.
- 18:49Speaker 1: I would too. And you know what struck me is
- 18:52Speaker 1: I A I loved the Chicago scenery. It was really
- 18:56Speaker 1: to me too, and I felt like I believed that
- 19:00Speaker 1: it was shot in the winter because there were so
- 19:02Speaker 1: many No, you didn't. There were so many outdoor scenes
- 19:06Speaker 1: that with like things that were lit. I was like,
- 19:08Speaker 1: would they have actually gone to the trouble of lighting.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I didn't believe the snow. We still have the soap snow.
- 19:15Speaker 2: It's snow, Yeah, the snow. There were sunny skies and
- 19:18Speaker 2: snow several times in this movie.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Yeah. And also it's real cold in Chicago in the winter,
- 19:25Speaker 1: and probably they would have been noticeably cold when they
- 19:29Speaker 1: were filming all those outdoor scenes. But I did believe it.
- 19:33Speaker 1: You know, sometimes they're like walking down a snowy street
- 19:35Speaker 1: with their jackets un butttoned. I'm like, it's eighty degrees there, didn't.
- 19:38Speaker 1: I didn't get that with this one. No, it was
- 19:41Speaker 1: believable to me, but I did enjoy I don't always
- 19:45Speaker 1: enjoy the big city movies are like the small town
- 19:48Speaker 1: Hallmark movies. But I enjoyed the Chicago scenor. I thought
- 19:50Speaker 1: it was beautiful.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I liked it. I was super into this one. Good
- 19:57Speaker 2: pick Megan, thank you.
- 19:58Speaker 1: This was the one I was most excited. But next Thursday,
- 20:02Speaker 1: we will be talking about never kiss a Man in
- 20:05Speaker 1: a Christmas Butter, which I appreciate their cheeky title.
- 20:10Speaker 2: And that's what's so funny, because I was like, can
- 20:12Speaker 2: they have condensed that somehow, like that is a really
- 20:17Speaker 2: long title.
- 20:18Speaker 1: A Christmas butter? Christmas? Yes, it is a long title,
- 20:23Speaker 1: and the I enjoy the actress Ashley Williams, right is
- 20:28Speaker 1: the actresses? Yep, that's right, Yeah, so I enjoy her.
- 20:32Speaker 1: She was also in one of the first Christmas and
- 20:36Speaker 1: Evergreen movies. We have a fourth one of those happening
- 20:40Speaker 1: this year. Everyone in my family is very excited. Yes,
- 20:44Speaker 1: it's no idea what you're talking about. It's a series.
- 20:49Speaker 1: You may have to go back and watch the previous
- 20:51Speaker 1: on what channel? Okay, it's one of the few. It's
- 20:57Speaker 1: actually the only one I know of where there's a series. Anyway,
- 21:00Speaker 1: she was the first of the Evergreen leading ladies.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Okay, let me tell you just quickly. I know I'm
- 21:07Speaker 2: a hater.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Okay, this movie, though, gave.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Me a little bit of that Christmas joy.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Oh, I'm so excited.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Can't you believe it?
- 21:16Speaker 1: I am a little bit surprised, especially given that you
- 21:19Speaker 1: watched it on November first. I mean, it's so early,
- 21:21Speaker 1: but I think, don't you think you kind of want
- 21:23Speaker 1: it this year like Halloween?
- 21:25Speaker 2: Oh totally.
- 21:25Speaker 1: You're like, yeah, I'll take it wherever I can get.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Yeah, And I thought I told my husband, I said,
- 21:30Speaker 2: this is going to be our new weekly thing. We're
- 21:31Speaker 2: going to watch these movies together, because I think he
- 21:34Speaker 2: was into it.
- 21:35Speaker 1: So my husband totally watches them with me. But you know,
- 21:37Speaker 1: I was saying this morning to somebody that the only
- 21:40Speaker 1: person who's more into Christmas than I am is my husband,
- 21:42Speaker 1: so to almost rain him in a little bit. So
- 21:45Speaker 1: he is totally into it. The only problem is all
- 21:48Speaker 1: the small town once he's like, oh we should move there,
- 21:50Speaker 1: Oh we should move there. So whenever there's a big
- 21:54Speaker 1: city movie, I can relax a little bit because I
- 21:56Speaker 1: know he's not going to say, oh we should move
- 21:57Speaker 1: to Chicago.
- 21:58Speaker 2: He's not gonna get some bug up, but a moving
- 22:00Speaker 2: to Connecticut somewhere or Alaska.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Well, we watched a movie, a Royal Christmas, which is
- 22:06Speaker 1: another one of the Hallmark new releases, and it's in Connecticut,
- 22:09Speaker 1: and he's like, is Connecticut off the list? I'm like,
- 22:11Speaker 1: look at all that's now next week's episode, we will
- 22:14Speaker 1: be discussing Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater,
- 22:16Speaker 1: starring Ashley Williams. We'll be back next Tuesday with our
- 22:20Speaker 1: regular Long Story Short podcast and Thursday with our Girls
- 22:23Speaker 1: Gone Christmas episode. We would love it if you would
- 22:27Speaker 1: leave us a rating, leave us a review. We love
- 22:29Speaker 1: reading them, and we will see you next week.
